Al Jazeera Media Network demands the immediate release of its correspondent and the other journalists who were detained alongside him, and holds the occupation forces fully responsible for their safety.”

At least 190 people killed and 340 wounded in Gaza over the last 24 hours.

I keep thinking abt the most recent Aljazeera lie, the 'IDF soldiers raped Palestinian women at Shifa' lie, and how quickly it was retracted, in less than 24hrs. Nobody bothered to ask why this lie was retracted as opposed to the myriad of other lies spread by Aljazeera abt this conflict. Why even retract it when it smears Israel? Isnt that the goal of all the previous lies as well? I guess we can thank good ol Arab misogyny and Family HonorTM values for this one. Because, in fundamentalist Arab society rape is a womans fault, and if u were raped, both u and ur family suffer the HonorTM consequences. Aljazeera had to scrape this fantasy because it hits Arab society where it hurts: muh HonorTM, which is apparently located several cm shy of the female vagina, right next to the G spot.

This also explains the outright psychotic reactions to this story in Pali social media. These types of posts were quite popular: "our women would never let anyone rape them", as if rape is something you "let" happen, or "our women would rather die than get raped", as if thats an actual choice u can make in such a situation, or "our women wouldnt get raped because theyd fight back", as if A. u can 'fight back' against a person holding u at gunpoint or B. not 'fighting back' makes it ur fault somehow? And theyre all ofc, our women, because women arent sentient, independent beings but rather creatures u can own and trade to elevate dat GTA Respect stat for ur family.

I'll just come out and say it: I understand fundamentally that Al Jazeera isn't always going to be the most reliable for coverage of the events and politics Southwest Asia. I understand that, but if the alternative is SINGULARLY Israeli media, you're gonna have to miss me with that.

Conflict is two-sided, but for example, if you're fighting with heavy artillery and tanks as a full military given munitions by all of the major western powers to fight against a militia which has the backing of lesser military powers, I think you have the upper hand. In knowing that Israel has the full backing of the West, Israeli media and perspective are the ONLY point-of-view that we are circulating in mainstream western media as well. Israel is a strategic ally of the West by all accounts. I have seen more Israeli sources than anything else.

I will continue to read and share Al Jazeera knowing that the information might have to be taken with a grain of salt.
