oooo TAG GAME!!! i never get to do these so many thanks to @chickycherrycola for the tag in the "Get to Know You Meme" 💖
~~~
Last song listened to: "Meter Run" by Bad Bad Hats. and I'm gonna throw in a couple more because, as my handle might suggest, I do indeed love some tunes 😈 haha. "Fireflies" by Pearl & the Oysters as the last song added to my spotify liked list, and "Die Da?!??" by Die Fantastischen Vier as a song giving me some vibes for my SteinMarie backstory fic haha.
Currently obsessed with: Heaven by Mieko Kawakami. I saw this at the library by chance and picked it up because I enjoyed another one of her novels, Breasts and Eggs, when I read it a few years back. Idk if this counts as obsessed exactly - I'm basing it off of the fact that once I finished it, I wanted to buy a copy, and I would definitely recommend it if anyone is looking for a short piece of fiction. I can also see this ending up on required reading lists/syllabuses for literature courses in the West, if it isn't already (idk it was published in 2009, but only translated to English in 2021, I think). Anyway, how Kawakami writes her characters' perspectives in the broader context of social issues and moral questions is really engaging. I also very much enjoy how she creates/describes atmosphere, and the rhythm of the prose. And dang, I always wonder what I'm missing out on having read this as a translated work. Like how the rhythm/style communicates differently (especially with a language that's syllabic and has many words that in English have to be elongated into descriptive experiences but damn I'm already talking too much ugh sure let's call this some form of obsessed lol).
Currently watching: I started watching Baby Reindeer on Netflix and woof. It's really well written so far (I'm only like 1.25 episodes in) so I'm curious to see how it stretches out for another 5.75 episodes. Also apparently Bodies Bodies Bodies is also on Netflix now?? And that's been on my watch list for a while so I'm def watching that next.
~~~
tagging @memethebum, @jonesy-murgatroyd, and @alcruid. i know not everyone is on here all the time, so hopefully this tag finds you well, even if very much in the future!!

Lady Death: Nightmare Symphony #1
Tumblr media
Lady Death Nightmare Symphony #1 Coffin Comics 2019 Written by Brian Pulido & Mike MacLean Illustrated by Anthony Spay Coloured by Ceci de la Cruz Lettered by Marshall Dillon     Lady Death and the Hellraiders are headed to earth to fend off the extinction level villainy of The Sect and The Trinity, and certainly we will get to that crucial story, but first lets delve back into the past, before Lady Death's "Cursed Sleep" began two decades ago and discover what diabolical treachery occurred during a rare peaceful moment in the Lady's undead life...     I love this book, I have been enamoured since the first time I laid eyes on my first Lady Death issue. She is one of the fiercest women you ever find and proudly strutting around in those heels and that two-piece makes her all the more so. My shop doesn't always get her books in but when they do one always finds it way home with me. I found myself thoroughly enjoying this when we see Ravenheart join the opening fray and what happens next. Though let's face it, if you aren't worked up for what's to come after a fight then you've got no libido or game.     The story & plot development that we see unfolding here as the information is released and how this engages the reader. I know it engages me because I keep thinking she is in Hell, ruling and in that condition? All kinds of things rattle around in your head and various ideas and scenarios come into play so the fact that the boys have engaged their readers so completely is a testament to some nice sets of skill and talent. The character development is completely engaging as well and the way that these characters constantly grow, change and evolve all before our eyes well that's exactly the way it is supposed to be. When the pacing is added to all this we begin to see the severity of the twists and turns and well may be a revelation or two. All of this creates a damn good ebb & flow to the story.     I am never disappointed by an issue of Lady Death and this is no different. Few books have the ability to make the reader go off-script as often as they do here, or with her in general. There are so many times I did in this issue alone and I have to say that it is one of those intangibles that keeps people coming back after they've been drawn in.         Oh my goodness gracious glory be, heavens to murgatroyd are these interiors something to behold. The linework is stunning as Anthony shows off this amazingly strong, steady and sure hand as he utilises the varying weights to create some absolutely dynamic attention to detail. The creativity and imagination that we see is marvellous and respect for making the sex scene erotic and tasteful and not cheesy and tawdry. There is also the fact that a turret can be lovely while surrounded by such evil creatures that captures the readers' eye and mind. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show this stupendous eye for storytelling. Right now Ceci may be among one of the premiere colourists working today. She is able to take that base colour and show us the hues and tones within it as she creates these gradation effects as well as the shading and shadows they create.      There is always this great feeling of excitement and danger that comes with her and it's another part of why we love coming back. Just the way this is structured and how we see events unfold as the stakes get raised is beautifully handled. Plus the way the book ends leave you no choice but to return to see how this comes out. Okay we want to see how this plays out as the outcome is somewhat guaranteed proving it's never the destination but the journey getting there.

The Simpsons Season 32 Episode 4 Review: Treehouse of Horror XXXI
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This The Simpsons review contains spoilers.
The Simpsons Season 32 Episode 4
Halloween is the special time for many series, giving them the chance to throw logic and canon out the window to plumb the fantastic for fearful flights. But The Simpsons season 32, episode 4, “Treehouse of Horror XXXI” opens with the scariest of all fantasias: Reality.
The episode begins a short while after Halloween on what looks to be the most frightening day in recent memory, the upcoming election between Trump/Putin and Someone/Anyone. The sequence includes a list of reasons to vote against Trump (Made it okay to shoot hibernating bears, put children in cages, called Mexicans rapists, imitated disabled reporter, looks lousy in a tennis outfit, can’t get wife to hold hands, called third world countries **** holes, called Tim Cook ‘Tim Apple’ …). Each more surrealistically real than the last. The list is long, so long you can’t make them all out during the crawl. They are detailed, amazing, includes one that is made up, and thorough. Homer’s commentary is priceless. But so are the rest of the political barbs in the pre-segment, such as when a heavily medicated octogenarian tells a potential voter he needs two forms of ID. “Twelve if you’re a Democrat.”
The opening segment isn’t all blatant politicking. Some of it is strictly silly. Homer understands and knows where he stands on all the judges and propositions, but when it comes to the presidency, he can’t pick. It’s not like he has to choose between beer, pretzels and donuts. Of course, the dire predictions of doom are slightly exaggerated in the animated, and Halloween-infused, world of “Treehouse of Horrors,” but it’s probably scarier than the entire season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The rest of the episode plays it for laughs.
Toy Gory
The first segment is a parody of the children’s classic Toy Story. Marge is a loving mom, giving Bart his last moments with his toys before he gives them away to charity. But we learn from the cleverly worded and Disney-sonic opening song this is not a kid who plays well with others, breathing or plastic. “You put a dent in me, you broke my head in three,” a sorrowful and scornful Randy Newman knockoff sings in a throaty nasal. Bart is apparently the rotten kid next door in this tale. Is it any wonder, though? His new Radioactive Man action figure comes with real radioactivity. The Simpsons likes to play with the after effects of atomic energy. The box warns about keeping the toy away from users’ scrotums, Abe thinks he left his in his other pants and Homer’s had a long history with the atomic effect.
Speaking of effects, the imagination captures the 1995-era computer-animated look and feel of Toy Story with subversive intent. Krusty the Clown, Bart’s most beloved toy one imagines, is the Woody in this. He is also the one who fosters dissent and leads the revolution. Ultimately, Bart becomes the perfect toy owner, but it’s not exactly a happy ending. Dr. Hibbert’s X-ray of Bart comes straight out of the Operation game. Hibbert explains Bart’s bones are Tinker toys. He has a Build-A-Bear heart and his brain is pop rocks and silly putty. He also has tennis elbow, hoof in mouth, frog in throat and is limited to only one semicolon. Not only that, he now stoically appreciates bad puns like “Don’t ask, don’t Mattel.” The Simpson family lost Bart at “I love you” and the message of the segment is don’t buy toys. It is perfectly chilling.
Into the Homer-Verse
The Simpsons go full on Homer-Barbera for this tough-loving tribute to the classic cartoon studio. A search for Halloween candy leads Homer on a hunt through the nuclear plant in search of giveaways sweeter than Advil. The bit where Homer is actually going through all the N&Ns and Rhesus snacks on his desk is a highlight, reminiscent of when Elaine ate a centuries-old, and terribly expensive, wedding cake on Seinfeld. Burns, who has Hansel and Gretel caged in a secret lab, prefers his snacks stringy and tough, so there wouldn’t be any sweets there. While he doesn’t find candy, Homer does cause a quantum flash of celestial energy which bursts a hole into an unstable universe, one where no one knows what a Murgatroyd is. The other realm is filled with cartoon Homers, from his Snaggle Puss counterpart through his noir version to a gaming animation pixilation. Disney Princess Homer brings new tonal beauty to the word “d’oh.” It sounds confusing, until Lisa sings it.
The best exchange of the Homer-Verse is when Homer walks past security in a restricted area. The guard says no one is allowed back there. When Homer asks what the guard is doing back there, logic and tasers go flying. It is a surrealistic solution to an abstract problem. The Krustyburger solution of having to find “other sources of meat” to contend with the six new, and hungry hungry Homers is equally surreal, but far crueler, which makes it just as funny. Until Gil gets there and you realize someone might lose their lunch.
“Eat the bacon, victory is mine,” we hear as Japanese Anime Homer sits down with the rest of the misplaced beings to a hearty breakfast. It is a very short segment but exquisitely executed. The Homers overwhelm Marge’s kitchen and threaten the delicate balance of interdimensional relationships. The portal they opened also affects labor relationships as the Burnsiverse knows where to get cheap, undocumented labor and the Smithersverse takes copious notes. Each of the Homers will die over and over again, which isn’t a horrible problem, except they will also die again. Lisa, of course, solves the problem using Harlon Ellison’s law of circular storytelling, as the episode exits, stage left, to run a circular saw over the same premise from a different angle.
Be Nine, Rewind
The Groundhog Day sendup begins with Harry Nilsson’s “Gotta Get Up,” the song, which was also featured in Russian Doll, grows more frantic as days and things get pounded like so many bubbling waves. It’s Lisa’s 9th birthday and she’s not sure if she’s ready to be halfway to adulthood. She doesn’t even want to put “Night Night Moon” in the hand-me-down box. The box is for Bart, who is actually ahead of Lisa in school, making it an eye-roller of a bit. Everything is fine until Homer steals frosting from the birthday cake with his finger. The many deaths of Lisa which follow are a tour de farce. Almost every line and sight gag builds on the ones before it, although the most specifically funny death involves a vanity mirror and is both the most and least expected of the lot. It is a millisecond of comic transcendence.
That can’t be said for Krusty’s balloon animals: a cigar, a snake, a worm and a 2×4. He gives out the same unimaginative throwaways at every party, and most Krustyburger grand openings. It’s a running gag that his jokes are all stolen, so feel free to read into the clown’s less than stellar performance. The closing scenario is the most hopeful. Probably just because we lose Gil, again, during it. He generously gives Patty a great set up. He kills a kid on the road test for his driver’s license. He’d better make it up on the written portion. It’s funny because, in many states, it’s relatable enough to be true.
The Simpsons season 32 has been offering consistently satisfying episodes of straight and subversive humor. “Treehouse of Horror XXXI” is the best of the season so far, but the Treehouses are always season highlights, and more reliably than Christmas episodes. No character is safe on Halloween. You can kill Gil as many times as you like. The Simpsons always packs a devilishly delicious trick or treat bag, with nothing so frightening as razor-blade-concealing apples, or anything else remotely nutritious. The opening segment is a political thriller, but the segments themselves are classic comedy.

DWTS: Season 25 Cast Announcement
It’s that time of year again!! The season 25 cast of DWTS was announced this morning on Good Morning America. Let me know who you’re pulling for, who you’ve never heard of and who you aren’t excited about!! (My thoughts are in italics.)
BARBARA CORCORAN (pro partner Keo Motsepe) - Barbara Corcoran has been an investor/Shark for the past nine seasons on Shark Tank.  (Love Barbara on SharkTank! She’s a smart lady.)
DEBBIE GIBSON (pro partner Alan Bersten) - From singer, songwriter and musician to actress and dancer, Debbie Gibson embodies what it truly means to be an entertainer. (I loved Debbie when I was growing up! Excited to see what she brings to the ballroom!)
DEREK FISHER (pro partner Sharna Burgess) - In 1996, Derek Fisher was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won 5 NBA Championships. He is the all-time NBA record holder in playoff games played and served as president of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA). (I remember watching him play for the Lakers. I always love the athletes on the show.)
DREW SCOTT (pro partner Emma Slater) - Drew Scott and his twin brother, Jonathan, host multiple top-rated HGTV series, including the Emmy-nominated Property Brothers, Brother vs. Brother and Property Brothers at Home. (I’ve watched at least one of the brothers’ shows, but otherwise I don’t know a lot about him. I just hope Emma has a good season.)
FRANKIE MUNIZ (pro partner Witney Carson) - Frankie Muniz is an actor, musician, writer, producer, race car driver and band manager. He is best known for playing the title character in the FOX comedy Malcolm in the Middle, which earned him an Emmy nomination, two Golden Globe Award nods and The Hollywood Reporter's "Young Star Award." (I never watched Malcolm in the Middle, but I do know who Frankie is. It should be fun to see his journey on the show.)
JORDAN FISHER (pro partner Lindsay Arnold) – Jordan Fisher's take as Doody in FOX's Emmy-winning broadcast of Grease: LIVE earned him critical acclaim and was deemed the show's breakout star by MTV and People Magazine. That spring, he released his first single, "All About Us," which was the #2 most added song and a top 30 hit at pop radio. (I don’t know anything about Jordan. It’ll be fun to see his story with Lindsay who is always fantastic at bringing out the best in her partners.)
LINDSEY STIRLING (pro partner Mark Ballas) – Acclaimed violinist Lindsey Stirling used her classical violin training to leap through the music industry with almost 10 million YouTube subscribers, over 1.9 billion views on her YouTube channel, two Billboard Music Awards and sold out tours worldwide. (I don’t know anything about her other than Mark saying they were friends. I’m always curious when a YouTuber joins the show.)
NICK LACHEY (pro partner Peta Murgatroyd) – Nick Lachey, a multi-platinum recording artist, television personality and businessman, first rose to stardom as the front-man of the popular band 98 Degrees, selling over 10 million albums worldwide and charting several top-40 hits. In 2003 he launched a successful solo music career and segued into television when he starred on MTV's Newlyweds. (I was a 98 fan back in the day... I don’t know that Nick will do as well as Drew but let’s see. I personally would have preferred him with Emma, Sharna or Cheryl.)
NIKKI BELLA (pro partner Artem Chigvintsev) - Nikki Bella is a philanthropist, YouTuber, motivational speaker and the longest-reigning Divas Champion. She and her twin sister, Brie, stirred up the WWE, culminating with a Divas title reign apiece in 2011 and 2012. (I don’t know anything about Nikki, but I hope Artem has a good season.)
SASHA PIETERSE (pro partner Gleb Savchenko) - Sasha Pieterse is best known for her lead role on Freeform's Pretty Little Liars, which wrapped its seventh and final season earlier this year. Despite being only 12 when she was cast, she held her own as the youngest regular cast member. Sasha has also launched her singing career releasing four singles. (I watched most of Pretty Little Liars and I am actually excited to see her take on the ballroom.)
TERRELL OWENS (pro partner Cheryl Burke) - Terrell Owens is one of the most exciting and electrifying players to ever play pro football, with 1078 Receptions, 15,935 yards and 153 touchdowns during the span of his 15-year career. Terrell is also a respected and best-selling author, penning a children's book, Little T Learns to Share and a fitness book, T.O.'s Finding Fitness. (Terrell is someone you either love or hate... I love him. Great football player and a great sense of humor.)
VANESSA LACHEY (pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy) - As the winner of the 1998 Miss Teen USA pageant, Vanessa Lachey (then Minnillo) was awarded the title of Miss Congeniality 1998. She went on to serve as co-host for Total Request Live and MTV Hits as well as taking on many other hosting duties, including two seasons as the New York-based correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. (I remember Vanessa from her TRL days, she annoyed me then... let’s see how she is now.)
VICTORIA ARLEN (pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy) - At the age of 11, lifelong swimmer Victoria Arlen fell ill with a rare viral disease that left her without use of her legs for nearly 10 years. Her health improved tremendously and, not only did she participate in four events at the London Paralympic Games, but she also took home one Gold and three Silver medals while also setting a world record in in the 100-meter free. (I had never heard of Victoria until she was announced for DWTS. She sounds like quite the fighter. Looking forward to seeing what she does in the ballroom.)

Sharna Burgess Reveals 16 'Dancing With the Stars' Secrets: Hidden Cameras, Val's Dating Advice & More!
brightcove
With the season 24 premiere of Dancing with the Stars just hours away, ET turned to one of the show's fan-favorite pro dancers, Sharna Burgess, to spill some secrets. The fiery dancer joined ET's Lauren Zima for a candid Facebook Live chat last week, and dished all about her new partner, her dating life and her tricks to DWTS success. Here are the 16 things we learned!
1. Sharna thinks the ladies are the ones to beat this season.
"I have to say that the talent we have in this cast, especially on the female side, I think it's the strongest that we've ever seen on Dancing with the Stars," Burgess predicted, citing Glee star Heather Morris, Fifth Harmony's Normani Kordei, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne as ones to watch this season.
Burgess is a big fan of Jayne, whom she called "incredibly talented." "She's so wonderful and so down to Earth. [She] and Gleb already have some fun chemistry between the two of them," Burgess said of the reality star and singer.
Ultimately, Burgess believes the female celebs "are going to dominate a lot this season," adding that "the male celebs [and their partners], we've got our work cut out for us." Aside from her own partner, Bonner Bolton, Burgess is keeping an eye on Rashad Jennings (partnered with Emma Slater) and Bachelor Nick Viall.
2. But she doesn't think Heather Morris (or anyone) has an "unfair advantage."
When the conversation turned to the controversy that Morris has faced over her casting, with some saying her dance experience (including performing backup for Beyoncé) gives her an unfair advantage on the show, Burgess disagreed with the detractors, asking, "Where is the rule that says [the contestants] can't have dance experience? Does it make my job harder? Absolutely. Is it intimidating? Yes. The girl danced with Beyoncé."
EXCLUSIVE: Heather Morris Defends Professional Dance Experience Ahead of 'Dancing With the Stars' Debut
Burgess went on to explain that "everyone in the entertainment industry has had some sort of dance training at some point." She pointed out that while there are some contestants that are coming on the show with absolutely no dance experience, there are gymnasts with ballet training and pop stars with jazz training participating.
Talking about Morris specifically, Burgess says "she's actually an incredible woman. She's a mom and, yeah, she can dance. So we're going to be able to see some incredible choreography and some incredible pieces from her and [Maksim Chmerkovskiy]. And I think that's going to be entertaining."
3. Sharna is the last single girl on DWTS... and she loves it, except for the actual dating part!
"I'm actually having the time of my life being single," Burgess gushed to ET while also admitting that "dating is impossible." The gorgeous redhead has been single for about a year, after breaking up with her long-term boyfriend. Burgess told ET that she's taken this year to find herself again after years of being a "serial monogamist".
While she acknowledges that her busy Dancing schedule does get in the way of her dating life, Burgess does know what she's looking for in a man -- someone strong and confident, who can handle her life in the public eye.
"It's so hard to meet great people and to know if they're genuine or not. And it's a genuine concern," Burgess explained. "Do you want the redhead from DWTS or do you want Sharna Burgess, who I am inside?" She doesn't dwell on it too much though, saying that she's a pretty good judge of character and quick to tell if someone is dating her for the wrong reasons.
Burgess also joked that her single status may have played in her favor when producers were casting this season. "At the moment, I am the only single girl in the cast, so I get put with the hot, single guy," she laughed. "Such a shame!"
4. ...And she got some great dating advice from Val Chmerkovskiy.
It looks like Val Chmerkovskiy might want to consider becoming a relationship guru when he hangs up his dancing shoes. Burgess dished about a recent conversation she had with the 30-year-old dancer when she was looking to get another outlook on why she's still single.
"I was like, 'Babe, I have no game,'" Burgess told us. "And [Val] said, 'You don't need to have game. You're a good-looking, beautiful, strong woman. You'll be fine. Men are supposed to have game.'"
Chmerkovskiy's advice changed Burgess' perspective on the situation, leading her to conclude, "maybe I haven't found the guy with the right game yet."
When we asked her to return the favor for Chmerkovskiy, she admitted that "the right one hasn't come along yet [for Val], but I think he'll get swept off his feet at some point."
"I think it's going to be a very special woman that eventually catches Val's eye in that way. And I think she's going to have to be a very strong woman. He likes strong women -- strong, passionate, driven and intelligent," she continued. "He's got such a big heart." Aww!
WATCH: Val Chmerkovskiy Addresses Amber Rose Split for the First Time: 'I'll Always Have Her Back'
5. She's got "big time" baby fever!
"I mean, yes, let's be real. I'm 31. I want babies," Burgess declared, adding that it feels like everyone in her life is having babies right now.
"It doesn't make me envious in any way, and it doesn't make me wish it was right now," she said. "I know that my life will have it happen when it's meant to."
Burgess has been fully focused on her career to this point, putting a lot of love and passion into her work. She also reminded ET that she now has a "very, very scrumptious little nephew that [she] can play with."
Burgess absolutely gushed over her baby "nephew," Shai Chmerkovskiy, saying, "He is perfection! He is the most perfect little man. He's the most beautiful blend of the two of them [Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy]. He has Peta's gorgeous lips. He's going to break some hearts when he's older."
When it comes to Shai's parents, Burgess has nothing but praise for the way Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy are balancing raising their newborn with their work on the show. "I love being around them and around them as a family," she said. "That little boy has really come into a lot of love and a lot of people that are going to be there for him and support him no matter what."
EXCLUSIVE: Maksim Chmerkovskiy Praises Peta Murgatroyd for Returning to 'DWTS' 2 Months After Giving Birth
6. She's going to be a bridesmaid in Peta & Maks' wedding.
Speaking of Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd, Burgess revealed that she will be a bridesmaid in their upcoming wedding! She couldn't share more details about the big day because she didn't want to get in trouble with her friends, but teased that the event "will be absolutely stunning and magical and the most perfect day. From everything [I've heard], it's just going to be unbelievable."
Burgess is most excited to share the big day with Murgatroyd, who has been a close friend of hers for 10 years, saying that it's "phenomenal" to watch her pal grow into a mother and bride-to-be. The dancer admitted that she'll be emotional on the big day, saying, "I will cry enough for everybody!"
7. How do the minds behind DWTS choose the partnerships? Think drama!
Burgess confirmed that the pro dancers have no say about who they're going to dance with each season. "The producers like to create storylines," she explained. "[Audiences] like the couple that maybe might fight a little bit, the couple that's going to flirt a little bit, the brother/sister love, and the couple that's going to do amazing choreography."
As far as the process of pairing the couples, Burgess speculated that "[the producers] put all of our photos on a big board somewhere, and talk about us as people, and probably psychoanalyze us, and figure out how they can get stories out of us. It's really interesting. We never know how they do it." While Burgess admits that it sometimes seems like the producers don't get the pairings quite right, she's been lucky with their choices for her.
"They always have a 'grand idea,'" she explained. "You want different dynamics throughout the show and you want there to be controversy. You want there to be story and ups and downs."
8. Which partner Burgess had the most "ups & downs" with:
Burgess describes her season 22 partnership with "incredibly talented" Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown as a "roller coaster." Burgess and Brown are now wonderful friends and talk all the time. However, while the two were partners on the show, Burgess says, "it took us a minute to find our chemistry and our vibe and understand each other and be able to work well with each other." The pair made the semifinals and finished the competition in fifth place, but Burgess believes their awkward relationship hurt their chances.
"I fully believe that he could have made it to the final and gone all the way. He was so, so talented and lovable," she explains. "But our chemistry and our balance was so off in the very beginning that none of our best traits were coming off on camera. It sort of, just came off a little bit awkward. We found our groove by like, week five, but by then people had already picked their favorites, so it was too late."
9. Which dance partners she still keeps in touch with:
"Nick [Carter], Noah [Galloway] and James [Hinchcliffe] honestly are all family to me," Burgess said of the trio of her former partners. She keeps in touch with all three, still texting and catching up on FaceTime calls occasionally. Burgess hopes that Hinchcliffe will make it to Los Angeles for a show this season, telling us that she would love for him to connect with Bolton and give him some pointers. Burgess and Galloway, her season 20 partner, recently reunited onstage during this year's DWTS: Live! tour.
After finishing the tour, Burgess reteamed with Carter, going to work choreographing numbers for the Backstreet Boys' residency in Las Vegas. According to Burgess, her former partner was the fastest in the group to pick up the new moves and the other members told her that they attribute his newfound confidence on the dance floor to her. Burgess explained, "[Nick] wanted to feel like he was a better dancer, because he always felt like he got pushed to the back because he wasn't [a good dancer]. Now he's right up there in the front."
10. The key to a great partnership is to involve the significant others.
The dancer said it's really important as the pro to become friends with both your partner and their significant other. Using her partnership with Hinchcliffe and his girlfriend, actress Becky Dalton, as an example, Burgess explained that she would have conversations with Dalton to make sure that she was comfortable. "When we had rumba for [week six], I said, 'James, you need to talk to Becky,'" she recalled. "'Because this dance is about to be very, very intimate and our noses are going to touch and we're going to have to tell a love story. And I think you should just give her a little heads up on that.'"
Burgess commiserates with the celebrities' significant others because the partnerships do become very close, agreeing that it would be difficult for anyone to "sit on the outside." of." In Burgess' mind, that's why "it's so important to bring that person in. You go to dinner after the show. You talk about it; they're part of the whole experience. And I think that's when it can be smooth sailing."
11. There are "hidden cameras everywhere" at DWTS.
Burgess always warns her partners early on that there are cameras everywhere (in rehearsals, backstage, all over the studio) and that anything those cameras or microphones catch might end up in the segments that run on the show before the couples dance. She advised, "You have to realize that every single word that we say is on camera. And it can be daunting. It can be a really hard thing for people to get used to." Because the celebrities (and their professional partners) are dealing with a lot of pressure on the show, Burgess suggests one rule --"Try not to blow up on camera if you're having a really bad day. Just go to the bathroom and take a little five minutes to yourself."
Burgess has forgotten her own advice at moments, admitting "I've been caught in the mirror -- the hidden camera in the mirror -- fixing my eyelashes, or you know fixing my makeup, not realizing there [are] now hidden cameras everywhere on Dancing With the Stars."
12. Double-sided tape is a dancer's best friend.
Burgess told ET the fashion tape is the key to making those tiny costumes look so perfect -- and stay on. "It's like that industrial-strength double-sided tape. It takes the tan off when you take the costume off, it's so intense," Burgess laughed. "But I had that (LINK) notorious nip slip about a year ago, and so I am covered head to toe with double-sided tape."
WATCH: 'DWTS' Pro Sharna Burgess Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction During Sexy Tango With Antonio Brown
But Burgess doesn't just rely on the tape for protection against wardrobe malfunctions, saying "now I get triple-checked every show, [so] that I am in nice and tight and nothing is going to fall out anywhere... When we're getting dressed, the wardrobe team has lined my costume with double-sided tape. And they put it on and then I get checked by a female producer just to make sure that everything is taped in and then we're good to go."
13. Her dream partners are very hot!
When ET asked Burgess who her dream partner on DWTS would be, she answered "Hugh Jackman" almost faster than we could get the question out. But on further consideration, Burgess says she would also want to dance with Charlie Hunnam.
"I've had a little bit of a crush on him since Sons of Anarchy," Burgess admitted. "I would love to see him on the show. I've never necessarily had the biggest celebrity [on the show], but I've had people with incredible stories and I love that. And I wouldn't want to change that."
14. Her biggest regret from last season:
Burgess calls season 23 a "perfect season" for her, but if she could do anything differently, she would've "tried to have not fallen over and injured my knee." After having to sit out of the competition for two weeks, Burgess says that her knee has been "amazing" since. Between seasons 23 and 24, Burgess participated in the 43-city winter tour and says that she didn't have a single problem with her knee and that it feels stronger than ever, crediting stem cell treatments for saving her season.
15. What coming in second place last season taught her:
"As sad as it was, as much as I wanted that for James [Hinchcliffe] last season, it wasn't meant to be," she says about coming in second place with the IndyCar driver in season 23. Burgess called Hinchcliffe her "muse", crediting him with helping her create some of her favorite choreography in her career. She says he also taught her to push through any adversity or challenge. Burgess hopes to apply what she learned to working with Bolton this season, saying "The greatest thing I could take away from my experience with James was to remember to laugh every day".
16. Where she'll put that mirror ball trophy when she finally wins!
With the upcoming season being her ninth as a professional dancer on the show and making the finals three times (finishing in second place with partners James Hinchcliffe and Nick Carter, and third place with Noah Galloway), Burgess is ready to bring the mirror ball trophy home. But where will she put it?
"I might just carry it for a long time," she laughed, "[I might] double-sided tape it just to my shoulder so everyone knows I finally did it." Burgess doesn't see herself taking a break from Dancing anytime soon, saying "I think I'll be around for a while. I at least need to win one."
Will ET finally get #JusticeForSharna in the form of a win for the dancer? We'll find out when Dancing With the Stars kicks off its 24th season tonight, airing at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

BONNER BOLTON (pro partner Sharna Burgess) - In the past 14 months, Bonner Bolton has gone from sitting atop the standings as the world's No. 1 bull rider to being paralyzed to becoming an international fashion model. Now he's taking on yet another challenge with pro partner Sharna Burgess on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
CHARO (pro partner Keo Motsepe) - Only a few people in show business are recognized by just one name. Charo is one of those people. A virtuoso guitarist, singer, composer, actress and comedienne, Charo is an American music and pop culture icon and she's back in the spotlight once more with pro partner Keo Motsepe on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
CHRIS KATTAN (pro partner Witney Carson) - Chris Kattan is best known for his many characters on Saturday Night Live, which he joined in March 1996, completing his seventh and final season in 2003. He will soon be seen in Jesse Thomas' Walk of Fame, opposite Scott Eastwood. DAVID ROSS (pro partner Lindsay Arnold) - David Ross is a two-time World Series Champion, having won World Series titles in 2013 with the Boston Red Sox and with the Chicago Cubs in 2016.  Recently retired, Ross now serves as a Special Assistant for the Chicago Cubs and also works as a TV Baseball Analyst for ESPN. Now David has a new teammate with pro partner Lindsay Arnold on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
ERIKA JAYNE (pro partner Gleb Savchenko) - You know you're a music success when you've raked in a whopping nine #1's on the US Billboard dance club chart without a major label machine behind you. That is exactly where dance-pop/reality TV star Erika Jayne is today. Now this real housewife of Beverly Hills is getting real with pro partner Gleb Savchenko on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
HEATHER MORRIS (pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy) - Heather Morris is both a talented actress and dancer. She is best known for her role as 'Brittany Pierce' on FOX's hit series Glee and she also appeared in the feature film Spring Breakers. However, this spring, Heather hopes to break into the Finals with pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
MR. T (pro partner Kym Herjavec) – In Rocky III, Mr. T played Clubber Lang, a boxer pitted against the film's main character, Rocky Balboa. It was during the filming of this movie that Mr. T coined the catchphrase, "I pity the fool!" He would go on to star as one of TV's most memorable characters on The A-Team. Mr. T will be bringing his A-game with pro partner Kym Herjavec on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
NANCY KERRIGAN (pro partner Artem Chigvintsev) - Nancy Kerrigan has been one of America's most recognizable sports icons for over 20 years. In 1993 Kerrigan became the United States Ladies Champion and followed that up with her historic silver medal performance at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. Nancy trades in her ice skates for dancing shoes with pro partner Artem Chigvintsev on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
NICK VIALL (pro partner Peta Murgatroyd) – When Bachelorette Andi Dorfman said goodbye to Nick Viall just as he was preparing to pick out a ring, he was devastated. When Nick walked up to Kaitlyn Bristowe with an engagement ring in his pocket only to be sent home, he was crushed. Now Nick follows up his run as The Bachelor with a run at the Mirrorball with pro partner Peta Murgatroyd on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
NORMANI KORDEI (pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy) - Normani Kordei is one-fourth of one of the most popular girl groups in the world, Fifth Harmony. The release of Fifth Harmony's sophomore album, "7/27," is the latest in a series of record-breaking accomplishments for the group. Now Normani takes to a brand new stage with pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
RASHAD JENNINGS (pro partner Emma Slater) - Rashad Jennings was one of the top NFL running backs in 2015. In that breakout 2015 season, he started every game and set career highs in carries, rushing yards, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Rashad will be hoping all those touchdown dances will help him and pro partner Emma Slater go far on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
SIMONE BILES (pro partner Sasha Farber) - At 19, Simone Biles is already considered one of the best and most decorated gymnasts in the history of the sport. Her career highlights include being an Olympic Gold medalist in vault, floor, Individual and Team All-Around, and a Bronze medalist on Beam at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Simone will look to add a Mirrorball Trophy to her mantle with pro partner Sasha Farber on Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
I am sad not to see Cheryl or Karina back. I’m always sad not to see Tristan but I know that ship has sailed long ago. I am excited for Sasha to have Simone. Right now they are  my choice to win this whole thing.

ET on ABC.
