FG Obi-Wan: Well. I mean. I got tossed in the dumpster and then I saw the egg and grabbed it and felt a life force in it-

Armorer: No, it is an acceptable reason, to honor the foundlings.

FG Cody: I like you, you’re a bit more stable than the shiny silver one that doesn’t have much thought behind his eyes.

Armorer: Thank you. I have suffered to get him to think for most of his life now. I think this is as good as that will get.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? Obi-Wan Kenobi - There are actually a lot of things I like that fandom does when it comes to Obi-Wan (so many great time travel fics, so many fics that explore the balance he has between being a troll versus genuinely caring about and helping people, so many fics that explore his love for the Jedi), but I think my favorite thing is that the majority of fandom seems like it went, "Yeah, Anakin Skywalker is the central character of that guy's life." Whatever tone that takes, it's one of my favorite things about Obi-Wan Kenobi as a person, that he chose to dedicate his life to Anakin and no one meant more to him than Anakin, to the point that he couldn't see the truth depths of Anakin's fault lines, that he had to literally see Anakin murdering children to believe it, that even when he let Anakin go, he never was willing to turn his back on Anakin. Even when he knew it would mean his death, he left the choice in Anakin's hands, because that guy was so fundamental to who Obi-Wan Kenobi was. Fandom often explores that through a myriad of ways, whether funny banter when they were younger, heartbreaking fic as Obi-Wan has to try to process all the feelings while on Tatooine, sweet reunion fic when Obi-Wan helps him over to the other side in the Force, or alternate universes where things went better. Anakin is foundational to Obi-Wan's arc as a character and I love that so much of fandom reflects that, in such a myriad of creative ways! Ahsoka Tano - I love that fandom has embraced that Ahsoka is often a disaster, that too often she gets put up on a pedestal of perfection to the point that it erases her actual personality. But when I come into our corner of fandom, we're all shrieking in delight when she does something dumb because it makes us love her more, it highlights that sometimes she makes amazing decisions, that she's a compassionate and wonderful person, but that she can also be hypocritical at times, that she takes decades to get over Anakin's betrayal, that she can have complicated feelings about the Jedi, but that ultimately she loved them and she would have gone home to them, that she is allowed the space to be a complicated, fascinating, interesting character. 8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? Obi-Wan Kenobi - Answered here. Ahsoka Tano - I dislike it when some in fandom don't actually seem to care about Ahsoka as a character and what she is actually like and just use her as a weapon to bash on the Jedi. Like, I can't and won't stop anyone if they disagree with my interpretation, there's room for us all, but I really dislike it when she's used for what feels like mean-spirited beating on characters that never actually did half of the stuff fandom accuses them of. It's a disservice to her character just as much to cut out her warmer feelings, to use her as a mouthpiece rather than focus on who she is and what she believes. I dislike it when fandom makes her perfect at the expense of other characters, like I am ALL FOR Ahsoka being amazing and incredible, let female characters be amazing and incredible!!!, but if it can only be done by making everyone around her terrible, then I'm not sure that actually says anything about how good she actually is. I also really dislike it when fandom thinks that Ahsoka could have saved Anakin on Mustafar, because the whole point was that Obi-Wan and Padme couldn't do it and they really were trying, the whole point is that Anakin was choosing this, he was choosing to become Vader, and to say that Ahsoka could have saved him at a time when the entire story was that no one could, it breaks her character and the narrative, like let her be amazing on her own terms and in her own way, let her story be her story, rather than subsuming her into Anakin's story! (This is why that episode of Ahsoka worked so well for me, because he became part of her story, rather than the other way around and it worked so well there.)

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like? Obi-Wan Kenobi - I like it when authors can balance that Anakin is the central figure of Obi-Wan's life, but that he is allowed to have his own reactions about what Anakin has done. He's allowed the space to be angry, to need distance for awhile, to need to work through his feelings about Anakin's betrayal of everything they stood for and his friendship with Obi-Wan, that Obi-Wan doesn't need to put aside his own feelings immediately to go support Anakin. Ultimately, Anakin is someone that Obi-Wan will always want to support, but I think he should be given space to sometimes struggle with getting there because, you know, baby murder is a hell of a thing to swallow down without chewing on it first! Ahsoka Tano - I love when fic explores Ahsoka's relationships with other characters WITHOUT the expense of how Anakin is the central figure in her bigger story. I sometimes feel like Anakin is the only person she's ever allowed to interact with, when TCW went out of its way to show her having important relationships with Obi-Wan and Plo and Yoda and Luminara and Asajj and Rex and more. So I love it when fic can explore those other relationships, too, because it makes her connection with Anakin feel so much more interesting, that she has this huge collection of people she's connected with and he still is the one that is most firmly lodged in her heart! Also, my kingdom for more Ahsoka & Mace interaction fic where there's debris between them, but they clearly care about each other and are both deeply good people and are connected through the Force together.

Summary Caught Somewhere in time:

Funny OT AU fic idea I just had:

Rex figures out that Luke and Leia are Anakin’s children very quickly after the first Death Star is blown to bits.

He uses the following details to support his determination:

Luke’s last name is Skywalker. He has Anakin’s lightsaber. He can wield the Force. (Luke is the easy one to figure out.)

R2-D2 is particularly protective of both Luke and Leia.

Only one other person ever achieved the combination of stubborn forthrightness, boldness, and (almost reckless) unconventional leadership that Leia possesses.

It takes about ten seconds into one mission planning session with Leia for Rex to flash back to 501st shenanigans and crazy Jedi General schemes.

Absolutely no dead Jedi can come back as a Force Ghost fast enough to stop Rex from immediately adopting Luke and Leia and telling them all about the stupid shit that Anakin got away with during the Clone Wars.

And then Ahsoka finds them. She verifies Rex’s claims and then proceeds to go, “OMG, I’m your Aunt Snips. Neither the Jedi Council nor Master SkyGuy can’t stop me from looking after you now! We’re going to get into so much trouble together.”

Vader’s reveal to Luke on Bespin becomes even more hilarious. Vader expected many reactions — except the one he got. Luke has heard all of the tea and knows all the embarrassing stuff that Anakin did in front of the 501st and Ahsoka. Vader was not prepared to get ribbed as hard as he did as Luke buys time for a rescue from Leia and Rex.

And Han gets trolled hard as soon as Rex figures out that he’s into Leia. (Someone has to make Han’s life hard when he’s trying to pursue Leia romantically. Bail and Anakin aren’t there to do it, so Rex and Ahsoka have to team-up.)

Also, it makes Luke and Leia finding out they’re twins extra funny. It isn’t some big reveal by Obi-Wan as a part of explaining destiny and a greater purpose. Nah, it was a clone with a finely-tuned “Skywalker is about to do something crazy, reckless, bold, and possibly stupid” sense who told them.

The Mand'alor's Palace becomes traditionally haunted, with shit getting moved, things flicking on and off, droids and animals interacting with unseen presences. It scares the crap out of visitors, and most of the younger guards are perpetually terrified.

In reality it's just Anakin's force ghost messing with the state of the art display system Din had installed for Luke.

Writing Tips: The Chosen One

The Chosen One is one of the most popular fantasy tropes. It represents a wish-fulfillment of the reader.

Types of Chosen Ones

Prophecy Chosen: Characters like Anakin Skywalker and Harry Potter are thrust into their roles due to vague prophecies. They learn about their destiny at the same time as the audience, often struggling with self-doubt and pressure.

Literally Chosen: Heroes like Po and Midoriya are selected by someone or something to receive special powers. Sometimes, the chooser can be fallible, leading to conflicts and even villainous characters who were once chosen.

Chosen Wielder: Think of King Arthur, Green Lantern, or Thor. They are chosen to wield a special item or power that only they can use properly. This often comes with the responsibility of being a successor to a previous wielder.

Chosen Incarnation: Characters like the Avatar or Vishnu embody a cosmic power and are born when a cosmic duty needs fulfillment. They face high expectations set by their previous incarnations.

One True King: Simba or Aragon. Historical and inconsistent, these characters are often meant to be rightful heirs or divinely empowered rulers. They usually come from a long line of potential kings.

Complex Story Elements

Two or More Chosen Ones: When there are multiple chosen ones, it can create a dynamic where heroes and villains clash, each believing they are the true chosen one.

Taking Down a Chosen One Villain: Sometimes, prophecies can come true in unexpected ways, leading to interesting plot developments, such as a villain becoming a Chosen One.

Self-Doubt Plot: Characters may grapple with impostor syndrome or struggle under the weight of their destiny. Sometimes, they might not be the chosen one after all, leading to themes of trust and self-discovery.

Rejection and Acceptance of Chosen One Status: Characters like Moana may initially reject their destiny but eventually embrace it, adding depth to their character development.

Disruption of Normal Life: As seen in Harry Potter and Troll Hunter, being the chosen one can disrupt a character's normal life, leading to tension and growth.

Balancing Supporting Characters

To give supporting characters their own tension and prevent them from feeling overshadowed:

Provide each supporting character with their own dramatic storyline that runs parallel to the chosen one's journey.

Create conflicts within the supporting cast that do not solely revolve around their chosen-ness.

Consider scenarios with multiple chosen ones, but be cautious not to dilute the story's tension and unpredictability.

Distinguishing the Chosen One

Avoid making your Chosen One feel like a one-dimensional character defined solely by their destiny.

Character Arcs: Make them resist their destiny, and emphasize the impact of their choices. Give the Chosen One personal challenges and arcs unrelated to their destiny, such as defending loved ones or facing moments of cowardice.

Personality: Establish the Chosen One as a person first, and Chosen One second, so readers know who they are as individuals.

Reactions to Chosen-ness: Show how the Chosen One reacts to their destiny in a way consistent with their character traits. Maybe they are unwilling to sacrifice themself or their friends to achieve their destiny. Or is willing to make all manner of sacrifices to achieve it.

Struggles: Let the Chosen One face challenges unrelated to their prophecy to humanize them and showcase their growth. Let them struggle to master their powers. Present moral dilemmas that challenge the character's philosophy and values.

Conflict Arising from Chosen-ness: Be mindful of the types of conflicts the Chosen One faces due to their chosen status, including ignoring the prophecy, dealing with ostracization, managing dynamics with the supporting cast, and meeting the responsibilities of a Chosen One.

that one time Padmé’d gotten Anakin into nice suit and bowtie, Anakin messed overall impression of himself up by saying «fancy seeing you here, Obi-Wan» to the said man, and Obi-Wan, with all his eye crinkles and gentle smile replied «oh? well, you see, it is my gallery» and Anakin started hyperventilating. that’s it. that’s the idea.

lemme have high society fic, but they are total dorks about one another. count extra points, if Count Dooku is here as a brooding yet loving uncle, who trolls Anakin and every other meeting says «I believed you had a better taste than that» to Obi-Wan, until this one time he gives in and buys one of Anakin’s beautiful sculptures. and oh girl does it spiral from there on?? Dooku’s constant mocking turns into «well, I can see the charm. still. I thought you had superior tastes, my boy», and Obi-Wan just wants him to stop. please. Dooku. Dooku, stop, Anakin is going this way—

I don't care. Even though the events of this game aren't canon, it was written by the showrunners of Clone Wars. All the characters were in-character (Plo Koon, Skywalker, Snips, everyone was in-character). It's nice seeing a lighter side of Bane! I accept Cad Bane being a troll to other villains, can be slightly clumsy at times, and in the right situation, certainly has a sense of humor (dry and perhaps a bit morbid). After all, the audio book "Bane's Story" has him constantly being salty and insulting people in his head. haha. "Hi"

There's this folk tale of a woodsman with a heart of gold losing his axe in a pond at the middle of a forest - he's devastated, but a helpful pond spirit comes up from the pond. Holding a golden axe, they ask if the golden axe is his, to which the woodsman says no - the spirit disappears and then reappears with a silver axe and asks if this one's his, to which he says no again. The third time the spirit appears with a regular old axe and the guy finally says that yes, that is his axe, and the spirit rewards his honesty by giving him all three axes.

This but, baby Luke skywalker meets some fae in the dunes and they ask him if 1. Obiwan's his dad 2. Maul's his dad 3. Cody's his dad etc etc and then they finally pull up Vader to which he... doesn't say yes, exactly - baby Luke just makes a face because the vibes say yes but the helmet says no. Still the fae rewards baby Luke and he gets like 10 dads.

You have to understand that the fae is just a troll. They pulled up all these dads in the middle of their day to day lives and now these mortal enemies (bail, vader, maul, obiwan, owen, cody etc etc) have to parent one child and also road trip back to civilization

Anakin skywalker vs percy jackson vs harry potter

i mentioned this in an earlier post but i believe that Anakin Skywalker would beat Percy Jackson in a fight and that Percy Jackson would then beat Harry Potter, heres why:

Anakin can literally know when things are about to happen. sure Percy can try be unpredictable but its really no use when fighting someone with a DEADLY LASER STICK WHO CAN ALSO KNOW WHEN THINGS ARE ABOUT TO HAPPEN!!!

Anakin has the power of the force. he can use it better than Yoda so stop kidding yourself by saying that Percy ,someone who kind of just stubbles upon a fight and goes welp here goes nothing, could beat darth vader cause you're incorrect. i dont care if Percy fought 2 titans because, ultimately, in a one on one fight without Annabeth there Percy would lose against Anakin

Percy would beat Harry because, like Percy, Harry just kind of stubbles into trouble and gives it his best shot. however, unlike Percy, Harry sucks at being a wizard. he knows about one spell to use in combat and its not even that good.

if Percy looses Riptide it just end up back in his pocket. if Harry looses his wand than oh no whats he gonna do?

Percy is actually trained in hands on combat. like thats what he went to camp for. Harry is just a bit clueless. if you put Percy in that girls bathroom to fight a troll he would 100% fight it better than sticking a wand up its nose. Rons the one who actually took down the troll.

Percy may be a scrawny kid at the start of the series but dont forget that that guy is strong. he held onto a massive spider being (i forgot the name of the lady but its in Mark of Athena), a car, and annabeth with one arm after being in a fight. dude could poke Harry and put the guy into a coma.

no hate to any of these characters, i love them all, but i gotta face the facts and say Harry Potter is a weakling soz

Portrayal Distinction:

A Character Study of Viktor’s Luke Skywalker.

Affinity for the Dark Side Like his aspect in Legends/EU, my Luke has a predilection for the Dark Side. He seeks to learn about his darker self so he might gain balance within the Force, but of course, he falls prey to it on his discovery. This doesn’t make him evil. It only makes him increasingly complex. After all, learning from the shadow can bolster the light. He further grows by embracing his dark side to grow his Order of Jedi.

Trolling Behavior He’s the sort of guy to order chocolate milk / hot chocolate at a cantina, surprise his apprentices with random acts of humor, and be sarcastic. His quick wit is also showcased here.

Electric Judgement Luke has become a realized individual, allowing him to pull on Dark Side abilities for the greater good. Coalescing his feelings of hope and justice allow him to create green lightning, also called Electric or Emerald Judgement.

Dual wields a shoto and his regular lightsaber Due to his encounter with Lumiya and her lightwhip, he has two sabers on him at all times: his red shoto and his green saber.

The White Crystal In his later years, he swaps his green crystal for a white one.

Ponchos His love of ponchos is an inside joke between him and all he cares about. They seem especially keen to pick on Luke for his fashion sense--- and Luke doesn’t mind it one bit.

Extremely caring A hero is only as strong as his heart. And Luke has a large one full of compassion and caring. Despite this, he tries to let his sense of justice overrule his emotions, but he’s impulsive. He’ll do anything for those he cares about.

His Jedi Academy - the Praxeum Luke’s Jedi Academy is currently rebuilding itself on Yavin 4. With the vast array of Jedi & Sith Temples, Yavin 4 is a perfect place to learn from older masters... and create a new Order that surpasses the old.

Has an Ewok child named Brink that he adopted After the battle on Endor, Luke found a baby Ewok that was orphaned. She attached to him and they formed a close bond. She’s Force Sensitive, and though they have a bit of a communication barrier, they are close. Luke trains her.

Why is there still so much Kylo hate?

I'm not referring to rampant Han Solo fans, but people like the tiresome JCF trolls, who continue to unleash venom on him despite it being over three years since the character was killed off and replaced with Rey Palpatine, Goddess of the Force, Princess of Woke, and possibly the most irritating heroine on celluloid (or at least one of them).

And I have come to this conclusion:

They know that he's more popular than their heroes.

More popular than Finn, who they insist was the 'male lead', even though both the VD and art book of TFA said he was conceived as a supporting character. More popular than Rey, DLF's much vaunted 'female protagonist', despite them pushing her as Ben Solo's replacement to the extent of character assassinating Leia (TROS reveals her as having Jedi training, which she used to train Rey Mary Sue but not her own child).

Critics hailed Adam's performance in TLJ. I know not all of us liked it (I loved it), but whatever you think of Rian Johnson, it was a masterstroke to ditch the helmet so Adam could really shine. And spoke volumes for the sheer petty spite of DLF, Abrams and Terrio (who firmly thinks Rey PALPATINE is the new Skywalker), who once again hid his wonderfully expressive face behind 'that ridiculous thing'.

They brought the mask back. They cut his screen time. All so Rey could strut around as the 'new' Skywalker. And guess what?

It didn't work. The few good bits of TROS had Adam front and centre. And critics and filmgoers alike agreed with this. Adam Driver stole the ST. A poll on DLF's own site cemented it.

'Who do you want to see most in TROS?'

Rey - 5%

Finn - 1%

Kylo - 81%

They can bash on him as much as they like, fling insults, accuse his fans of being 'racist' - many are POC - accuse us of being 'sexist' - many are women - but their petty and unfair insults will not change this fact:
