do you have a link to a good empanada recipe?
here is the empanada recipe i looked up because one time after helping her make empanadas nana was like 'now you know how to make them yourself next time' and i realized she expected me to be able to retain any of that even though she hadn't given measurements and i hadn't taken notes, and when i tried asking dad he was like 'you've made empanadas before? you know how to make them, you're a good cook' and i decided it would be easier to just print a recipe off about dot com (now the spruce) than try to explain to my dad that i do not passively absorb recipes through osmosis
this recipe made me realize that empanada dough is supposed to be pastry dough and the fact that empanada day involved hours and hours of everyone in the family standing around a table kneading dough was insane actually. it's pastry. imagine kneading pie crust. the only explanation i can come up with is that nana didn't have a fridge and her version didn't need to be chilled. however i'm not making dough like that ever again in my life. the first time i made these for my dad he was like, "see? i knew you'd get it. you're like a master at this now. you even found a way to make the dough come together without having to knead it all day." and i didn't have the heart to tell him that the recipe i was using was from about dot com.
my notes on the recipe are that it calls for too much onion. three onions? for one pound of meat? that's too much onion. only my grandpa tries to put that much onion in and nana doesn't let him because that's nuts. i like making a batch of caramelized onions in the slow cooker or instant pot, or using onion powder, because even setting aside my textural issues i am not actually supposed to eat onion and those kinds of onion make me suffer less for my sins. if you are capable of eating that much onion without going straight to hell then follow your heart. also add as much garlic as feels right but that goes without saying because it's garlic.
if you grew up in a hamburger helper household you may be tempted to try draining the fat from the beef. do not do this. you need that fat. empanadas are not a health food.
the recipe calls for regular raisins, which is incorrect. they need to be golden raisins.
growing up we made the beef mixture and then the sliced black olives, golden raisins, and hardboiled egg got added at the end. however i started mixing in the olives and raisins like that recipe said and i do think that turns out more consistent. however if you have people who want different ratios of beef to olive to raisin, doing it nana's way means everyone can mark the ones they made for themselves.
we always pressed the edges of the empanada together with a fork and then poked holes in it with the same fork. it didn't matter if they weren't super consistent because they were going to be deep fried. however i hate hot oil so i bake mine and i bought a set of 6 inch plastic empanada presses

they make everything much easier and more consistent
if you want to be extra then instead of poking holes with a fork, you can use a flower-shaped vegetable cutter to cut a flower out of the assembled empanada, then press it back on at a slight angle using a straw and glue it in place with the egg wash.

nana also put powdered sugar on her empanadas when they were done but i feel like that makes more sense when they're fried, so i don't

→ Dazai is the one to sneak alcoholic drinks in to the cake/pastries/sweets y'all make.
→ Dazai is the one to take the frosting, dip his finger into it and smear the frosting on your nose like Rodolfo's nose.
→ He will make a mess no matter what, it's always possible and you can't avoid it, ingredients everywhere
→ Dazai is a literal child, he wants to lick the cake batter spoon, he doesn't care if there is raw eggs or not

Scenario!! ᯓ٭꙳˙∘
It was the middle of the day on a cool November day, there was a fire crackling in the living room, dazai and yourself in the kitchen with ingredients to bake a cake. Y'all had decided to to be creative and work on y'all’s culinary skills sense dazai was off work for holidays 'nd bored.
Soft hums were coming out the slim man’s mouth, who had an apron tied tightly around his waist, a cheeky smile on his face, his hands resting on his hips. “Alright! Let’s get this show on the rode!” You heard the brunette say excitedly, it was silly seeing him so happy over something like baking but also lovely.
Before this, Dazai had a bit too much wine so he wasn’t exactly sober. You had already grabbed the wet ingredients for the cakes, and dazai had grabbed the dry, store bought, cake mixes, all lied out on the counter top.
“Sure, sure. Let’s go this show on the rode” You mock with a soft smile, pouring the boxed cake batter into the metal bowl. You then crack the three eggs, but in this cake 6, since there is being to cakes made with the two boxes of cake mix y'all bought.
You then turn away to get a measuring up and get 2 cups of water. You heard a snicker from the brunette as you did. You weren't sure why nor did you see him pouring Lord knows how much whiskey into the cake.
You turn back and pour the two cups of water in, and then ⅓ vegetable oil. "What were you snickers about over here?" You say while giggling as well. "Oh nothing, babe. Don't worry!~" Dazai said with a cheeky smile, you knew he was up to something and it was obvious.
Y'all had already preheated the oven prior to this, 'nd now y'all have to mix, pour into pans, and then wait until it's done, let cool and ice! You take the whisk and start sturing the cake ingredients, while doing so, Dazai was getting into the frosting like a child.
Dazai had opened the white frosting, dipping his CLEAN fingertip in as it gets coated with the white, creamy icing. He sticks out his tongue, licking off the icing. "You know, this is OVERLY sweet" The brunette says, his gaze averting from the icing container, his deep brown eyes were looking into your e/c eyes.
"Ah, well that's the only kind they had, and isn't icing supposed to be overly sweet?" You had said, cocking and eyebrow as you continue mixing the cake batter. "Mhm, I suppose." He simply says as he dips his finger back in. "Honey, baby, babe, look at me!" He ugered, he really wanted you to look, even for a second.
You look over once more but before you could speak, you see Dazai reaching his icing covered finger tip towards your nose and smearing the icing on it. "Haha! Now you're Rodolfo but with a white nose!" He says his hands going back to his hips as a proud smile washes on his face, you couldn't help but smile.
"Ha, okay you Christmas obsesser" you scoff, and Dazai being the overly dramatic man he is, he jaw drops as he slaps a hand to his mouth, gasping obnoxiously as he does so. "Obsesser?! I am not obsessed!" He says with the most sassiest look on his face, holding back his giggles that were slowly tearing through the look of sassiness. "Cmon! Everyone knows you're obsessed on the holidays, Osamu! It's so easy to tell!" You start to laugh as Dazai turns away scoffing playfully.
Dazai huffs and the speaks, "Maybe a little, obsessed." He admits while turning to the Amazon Alexa y'all had placed in the kitchen for reasons like these. (cooking together) He walks over to it and whispers something as he turns up the Echo Dot to its max volume and soon, the entire kitchen is filled with Christmas music, specifically, All I Want For Christmas is You, by Maria Carey. You couldn't help but surpres laughs and giggles as you see our lover dancing and singing to the music.
"All I want for Christmassss~ isssssss~ youuuuuu!!" Dazai "sings" loudly, it was such good material to record but you didn't have your phone so it was a bit disappointing you couldnt record. You softly hum along to the song as you pour the cake batter into the cake pans. "Oo! Ooo!! Give me the spoon! I want to lick the batter spoon!" Your lover's eyes are like stars as you hand him the batter spoon.
Dazai starts licking the soon as he watches you put the cakes in the hot oven. "How long will it take?" He asks, still licking the spoon clean. "About 20-30 minutes? It just depends on the size of the pan if I'm honest with you, Honey, but since it's two 9 rounds maybe 22-27 minutes?" This wasn't a wild guess, but more of a precise guess. "Ughh, that's so long!" Dazai complained, nothing new though.
"Oh calm down, you listen to your Maria Carey and lick your batter spoon and before you know it, they will be done" You scoff softly, this makes Dazai huff and cross his arms as he finishes off licking the spoon. "Fine! But I think I'll annoy you instead" He says, smiling as he hugs you tightly, his arms around your waist and holds you close.
This goes on for a bit, dazai was poking, kissing, biting doing whatever to try to annoy you, but at the end of the day he wasn't sober so, you were fine with it. And soon, the timer for the cakes went off, you grab the oven mit and put it on, taking the cakes out from the oven, placing them on the stove top. A few minutes go by, Dazai was back to the casually bugging until y'all were able to frost the cakes.
"Okay okay, the cakes are ready to frost, you get one I get one, okay?" Dazai hums in response, looking extremely excited as he takes his icing bag and starts to work on his cake, you take yours as well and work on your own. You were glancing back and forth between your cake and Dazais face, humming softly to the Christmas music playing in the kitchen. You use your a smaller frosting tip to do more fine line details in the very detailed cake while dazai, seems to be doing something more since he is chucking up a storm.
You were making you and Dazai holding hands and dazai, well who knows? Because you didn't. You continue frosting your cake making everything the best it could be. "Done!" Dazai blurts with a smile, still snickering happily. You glance over and down at Dazais cake were there is a HIGHLY detailed cock, not a chicken, a cock, as in the male reproduction organ. Why was it so detailed? You didn't know but you just snicker a bit as you continue to work on your own.
"It's very, er, detailed?" You say, holding back a fit of laughter. "Yep! Based it off my own!~" He seemed so confident that it was funny, you put a hand over your mouth holding back your fits of laughter "O,oh yeah, really?" You choke out, it was hard to contain your giggles and snorts as they just fall out as you start to have a unbearable fit of laughter, which made Dazai start laughing too. A bit of tears from the uncontrollable fit start to form in your eyes as you catch your breath.
"Ha, Okay I'm done I'm done" you let out a sigh of relief as you quickly finish up your cake. Dazai comes up behind you, wrapping his arms around you. "Ah, What a lovely cake, babe~" He said, smiling happily as he saw the very detailed cake of the two of you holding hands.
He plants a soft kiss on your neck, and then your jawline moving up to your lips. Capturing your lips in a slow and loving kiss, you could taste the sweetness of the frosting and cake batter from earlier as you kissed back slowly. Dazai pulls back, smiling, "I love you babe"

They did serious damage to Lexy’s credit card in the form of a cast iron pan, a pot, basic cooking utensils and a four-person set of dishware before they even made it to the grocery store.
Peter tried not to go nuts there. He really did. But Kon had that empty kitchen! And to be honest, shopping was major wish fulfillment. Even though he knew he wouldn’t be eating all of the food he got way into it. They stocked up on easy freezer food like pizza rolls and fries. They got pasta mixes and jarred sauces and they got snacks and sweets. He even got Kon baking basics. It might take Kon a while to get into his fresh bread era, but it was going to happen. Peter was calling it now. Kon was just that kind of guy.
The last thing he got was meat. Meat and cheese and fresh vegetables. Peter ended up putting back half of what he initially put in the cart because, honestly, Kon didn’t have a massive super appetite and he didn’t know how to cook yet. Vegetables were just going to go bad, so he only got what he planned to use that night. He also stocked Kon up on breakfast supplies- bread and jam, eggs, sausage, coffee and tea and juice.
‘I wish I was staying with Kon to eat this. I’m going to be hungry again tomorrow.’
Peter pushed down that greedy little thought where it belonged. He was going to be eating lunch and dinner with Kon tonight, since they were cooking together. That was already really generous on Kon’s part. He couldn’t ask for more.
The boys ended up making spaghetti. Peter wasn’t the best cook in the world, but he could cut onion and garlic to cook meat in, shred in carrots and zucchini, and add a jar of red sauce to make something nutritionally dense that tasted really good. Kon hovered over his shoulder watching this process and making faux sports commentary. 
“Go away!” Peter shoved Kon with his shoulder, laughing. “Go start the garlic bread.”
“...Garlic bread?” Kon asked hopefully. He seemed way younger than he was sometimes. “You can make that at home?”
“You can, if you get to cutting garlic really small.” Peter tossed him a bulb without looking.
They ate dinner while watching some drama that Kon picked out on a streaming service. “Holy shit,” Kon said quietly after his first bite. He put down the plate and took a photo.
Peter snorted. Kon must have sent it to someone because his phone went off constantly after that.
He wasn’t even done eating their late lunch when he first wondered where he was going to sleep tonight. Peter stared down into his pasta like it might have some answers. When should he leave? What would he say if Kon asked for his phone number? He didn’t have one. He couldn’t give Kon the number to the phone he had on him– he was pretty sure that he really should get rid of it in case someone was tracking him. 
He should ask first. If he directed the conversation it would be easier to be normal than if he was just answering questions. So Peter swallowed hard, made himself smile, and said, “This was fun. Wanna hang out again?”
Kon noisily slurped down some sauce and wiggled in place while he chewed and swallowed. “Yeah, we should!” he agreed. “You uh, free later this week?”
He was jobless and homeless with no other acquaintances. 
“I have some time,” Peter said casually. “I’m kinda busy tomorrow, but the day after? Should I come over in the afternoon?”
“Yeah!” Kon bounced up off his seat for a moment. “We can finish the projects. Or work on them, at least.” He screwed his face up with a thought. “Can I get your handle or number, in case my work pops up?”
Peter’s smile turned fixed. “Actually, not now,” he said as casually as he could manage. “I dropped my phone in water. I just have my Dad’s old phone right now for emergencies.” He didn’t need to add that lie, but what if he needed to pull out the flip phone later? He didn’t want Kon to think that he just hadn’t wanted to give his number.
Kon laughed. “That sucks, man,” he empathized. 
Oh thank Thor, he bought it. 
The fabric was dry by then, so Peter helped Kon cut it out and sew it into place. Kon modeled his new look in the living room and then took approximately two hundred selfies while Peter worked on his project. Kon eventually flopped down on the sofa upside down and started sketching out design ideas. Peter glanced over and saw what looked like a boob window cut into some kind of top.
…Kon would look great in it. Peter didn’t comment. He smiled a little more when he went back to cutting out pieces for his own jacket.
“Smile!”
Peter looked over on reflex and cheesed. A shutter went off. “Can I send that to my friends?” Kon asked, so casually that Peter knew it mattered a lot. “Cassie says no way did I meet someone without her.”
“Go ahead.” Peter gave a thumbs up for reasons even he did not understand. Good thing he wasn’t a weird little guy! 
Kon looked relieved. There was less tension when he went back to looking at his phone. “Thanks, man. You want to think about dinner soon? You’ve been working for a couple of hours.”
Peter had to blink a few times to process that. Oh yeah, he was pretty stiff. He stretched experimentally. “You’re right,” he said, mildly surprised. “Huh. What did you have in mind?”
Kon shrugged. “Pizza?”
Peter hummed. “We can pull that off,” he decided. “We have… two more jars of marinara, one will do. Cheese, the bell peppers- yeah, that’ll work.” He stood in a smooth movement. “Could you get the flour down from where we put it- yeah, thanks.” Kon hovered back down and handed him the bag.
“I meant that we should order it,” Kon said, but he didn’t protest. “You can make pizza? At home?” He was delighted by this new information.
“You can make basically anything at home,” Peter said, because it apparently needed to be said. “Can you look up a pizza dough recipe?” He got out the salt and tried to remember where he’d put yeast.
Pizza did not go quite as smoothly as the pasta had. Kon brutalized the dough by over mixing it and the gluten developed bonds strong enough to rival the Hulk. But it was still edible! Kon was openly delighted with what he had made. Peter stole sideways glances at him, wondering if he should reassure that it was a great first try.
‘..I’m not sure he knows that it’s really tough,’ Peter decided. He said nothing. They watched one episode of Kon’s selected drama before Peter decided it was time to go.
Kon seemed surprised when Peter said that. He blinked at him a few times. “It felt like I was at the tow- a sleepover,” he said self consciously. He forced a laugh. “Yeah. You wanna leave your stuff here?”
Peter looked around Kon’s surgically clean living room and wondered if Lexy’s cleaning staff would throw away his stuff. “Yeah, sure,” he said, because it wasn’t like he had a place to store a project. “I appreciate that.”
He left not much later, making his excuses and backing out into the night with dread that he didn’t want to face curling in his gut. The feeling intensified as he got down to the lobby of Kon’s apartment building.
It was dark out, even with the streetlights on. The air was cold against his face. Peter huddled into his jacket, hand wound tightly around the strap of the bag with everything he owned in it.
At least he knew the time. It was a little past 10 pm.
He needed a shower and to sleep. The gym should be empty now. He could break back in, shower, and then go sleep on the library couch again. Even if the librarian came in early again, he could get a few hours of sleep.
He woke up again to the sound of keys in the door downstairs. This time he woke up feeling much better rested. Peter wandered blearily until he found a clocktower and realized it was nearly 9 am. Nice. He was working on his sleep debt, then. He surely hadn’t spent more than an hour between traveling to the gym, showering, and getting to the couch last night. That was maybe 9.5, 10 hours of sleep?
He left to a new hotel for a breakfast buffet. This one was particularly sad. He had two pieces of peanut butter toast and a glass of milk before he heard the front door staff quietly phone someone else asking if they had any teenagers staying at the moment. He left pretty quickly after that and walked for a while, heart pounding. The police didn’t descend on him with sirens and lights, so he was probably okay.
‘I can’t go back there.’
Later that day, Peter grimaced and took a moment to indulge in burying his face in his hands. He was overwhelmed and he still felt shitty and dirty and gross despite his shower. Maybe it was getting spotted as a homeless teen eating from the buffet? Yeah. Probably that.
He was in the library again, sitting in front of one of the older computers and hoping he'd get a reply from a potential client who had asked for some information. 
Maybe it was a little weird to spend all day in the library. He was on notice for librarians acting like they wanted him to clear out, just in case.
But, assuming no one had any problems with it, why not spend most of his daylight hours there? He could study computer science, use the computers to do his work, and be somewhere temperature controlled for free. They also had pitchers of coffee and tea for free that he took advantage of. 
He was hungry, though. He was always hungry. Maybe it had been a mistake to go to Kon’s house. It almost felt worse to be hungry again after eating everything he wanted two meals in a row. Peter suppressed despair. He was doing his best! He was taking care of himself.
"Is everything alright?" 
Peter shot up and gave a sheepish grin to the librarian. He hadn't noticed her approaching, but he'd been lost in his head. "It's fine," he said. 
The older woman gave him a sympathetic smile. "Well, let me know if there's anything I can help with. It's what I'm here for." 
Oh. Before she could turn away he blurted out, "College!" 
Her face lit up. "Are you applying?" 
"I need to." Peter wrung his hands together. "But I don't know where to start. I want to go somewhere with a strong sciences program but I think I need to go there on scholarship." 
She sat down beside him, an easy smile on her face like this was a topic that she enjoyed. “Do you care about where it is?”
Peter shook his head. “It would be best if I could stay in NYC since I know here, but I’m willing to go anywhere that meets those conditions.”
She nodded slowly. “There’s a few places I can think of.” She hesitated. “Do you expect to be eligible for testing related scholarships?”
“Yeah,” said Peter, who was so good at tests but would probably falsify the results that he needed if he didn’t manage to take tests in time. “I test well. Very well.”
“That’s great! And you said sciences? Technological sciences?” she didn’t glance at his current computer science book, but she didn’t have to. 
“Yes,” he said, not entirely sure what he should be focusing on. Engineering, to build some kind of portal? Astrophysics like Dr. Foster, to find an Einstein-Rosen bridge? He’d have to get his foot in the door to figure out what was going on in the fields here. Shit, he should have looked into that already. 
“And you would be looking to live by yourself, on campus? Or off? With family?”
“By myself,” Peter said, and wow that was depressing. “And whichever way is cheapest.” He cringed as he said it. That felt pathetic too. He wanted to say he wanted to live on campus since he’d be more likely to meet people that way. But honestly, he had no resources, at all. He couldn’t afford to be picky. 
The librarian’s smile was a bit fixed now. “I… I almost hate to suggest it, but have you considered Gotham?” She continued before Peter had to decide whether or not he should admit he didn’t know that university. “It’s a dangerous city to live in, but it’s very affordable, and there’s extensive funding for the sciences and student support services.”
“...Because it’s a dangerous city and doesn’t get many people?” Peter confirmed.
She was doing her best to keep a poker face. “That’s right. They have a brain drain situation at the moment, so the sciences are really well funded. I think you could probably go there with full support, though that might be contingent on taking an internship or job in Gotham after graduation.”
Huh. He considered it. He’d never heard of Gotham, so it had to be a city that didn’t exist back home. But so what? How bad could it be? It was like, Chicago or something? He could handle that. He was Spiderman. He was an Avenger, sort of. So he directed a real smile at the librarian. “If I could get a full scholarship there, I would go in a heartbeat,” Peter said. “Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into the university there.”
The librarian patted the side of his chair as she stood up. “Wonderful! Let me know if you change your mind or have any questions!”
He ended up having a lot of questions, actually, once he started looking into Gotham, but he didn’t think, “What the frick is the vampire bat guy about?” was what she’d had in mind.

“i wish i could help yn, but i’ve got some projects that i’m working on.” mingyu, who you are on a video call with, sighs as he lays down on his bed. “cookies or not, you don’t have to do something you’re not good at if you don’t want to.” mingyu said, “i know jun would still like whatever you make any day” he grinned.
you look at mingyu pouting, “but i want to make these cookies! it’s my way of telling him that i like him” you smile “i mean, if you want these cookies to be exactly what jun wants, just call up anyone who could cook, like shua, or dokyeom?” he suggested, “maybe even wonwoo could help you clean up with all the mess you made behind there.”.
you look behind your kitchen, flour has been spread to your kitchen as its box was left empty, and chocolate chips and milk has been spilled. there is a tray of cookies that were burnt. your cat jumps on the counter, sniffing at the mess that you have made as it looks at you disappointingly.
“i think i’ll be fine mingyu!” you said, looking over the oven, as you hear the beeping noise of the cookies that are done baking, you smell something burning. oh shit, “actually, nevermind! please call someone mingyu, please!” you immediately hang up on mingyu as you open the oven door, burnt cookies, again, your cat hisses at the smell as it jumps off the counter.
“ugh, another failed attempt…” you sigh putting all the burnt cookies in a plastic seal, at least you’ve got something to eat. picking up your phone, and you stare at your wallpaper; it was you and junhui taking a goofy picture at a photobooth together. you smile at the sight of jun making a weird face, he’s so adorable.
you thought about that moment on your phone, it was another day of hanging out with jun, though you felt something different with jun, you found him a little more prettier these days, and every little kind gesture and weird trinkets he give because he thinks you would like them, gosh, it was annoying your head, but you couldn’t help it, you had a crush on jun.
you shake the moment off your head and look at the mess that you have made. “you can do this, you can make the best cookies junnie has ever-“ you hear a knock on the door. “j-jun? what are you doing here!?” you open the door to find your pretty best friend holding a box of brownie mix, he lets himself in, your cat immediately goes to junhui, making him smile as he pets your cat.
getting up and setting the brownie mix near a table, he hugs you, letting you go, he gives you a sweet smile “hey, mingyu asked me to help you, he said it was about baking and i thought about your favorites, brownies!”. he smiles as he walks to the kitchen. your heart can’t take another one of his sweet gestures.
“well, let’s get started now!” jun said as he takes the box of brownie mix and holds your hand, your eyes widen as he looks at you with the cutest smile that you have ever seen as both of you go to the kitchen. “we’re making chocolate chip cookie brownies!”

“i honestly don’t know how we were able to clean up this easily..” you look at your now clean kitchen, surprised at how it used to be garbage for wasted ingredients a moment ago. thanks to jun and a little bit of elbow grease, you guys were able to begin making brownie cookies.
“let’s start with the ingredients, eggs, oil, and water” you help him take out some fresh carton of eggs, vegetable oil, and a cup of water. “great, now we just need some bowl and a whisk” he looks around the cupboard and brings out some extra ingredients plus two bowls, and an electric whisk.
“okay, where do we start first?” tapping on table, jun takes out the brownie mix and gives it to you, “i think you could start out something simple, this has some instructions…” jun turns the box and points the instructions, leaning close so that you’ll be able to know what he’s talking about. you shift awkwardly, moving away. “yep i think i get what you mean!” you smile, turning away as you look at the ingredients, you were screaming inside. he was so close!! holy shit, junnie is just so ahh!!! stay calm yn, you thought to yourself, cracking open an egg, just distract yourself and we will be able to finish these brownies!! wait no! don’t look at jun!
you slowly look at jun, who was already mixing the ingredients with the electric whisk, gosh! he’s pretty!! why did you look yn!? he’s so ughh! he turns to you and turns off the electric whisk, “need help? seems you’ve already got most of the ingredients right.” he takes the bowl and pours it on the greased pan.
“okay, now we just need to put the cookie dough in.” jun takes the cookie dough and places pieces of it on the brownie batter. you look at junhui as he was placing the pan in the oven. you thought about your burnt cookies, maybe jun would like it…? you decide that it wouldn’t hurt to try, maybe jun might like whatever you make.
“hey uh jun?” you tap on jun’s shoulder as he looks at you “yeah? what’s up?” jun asks “about the mess i made in the kitchen…?” you begin, “those burnt cookies,” jun tilts his head curiously, as you open your fridge to show the sealed burnt cookies to him, he looks at the cookies, then at you and smiles. “you made cookies for me?” he takes the bag and opens the seal, “i know it’s not good looking…but i wanted to make these for you because..” jun takes a bite of the cookie and the way he smiles at the taste, it didn’t matter if they were burnt, you made them for him and…
“i like you junhui!” the sounds of the oven indicated that the cookie brownies were done, but there was also another sound that jun had heard, his heartbeat. “yn..” he smiles before hugging you.
…it made him love you even more.

when the brainrot hits you like a truck
here are some cooking and cooking related headcanons!!
• kazuki is a very good teacher, hes generally very patient and attentive, he tends to bicker with rei a lot, he struggles to formulate himself concisely sometimes but hes doing great
• miri joins in anytime they cook, they let her wash the vegetables or mix ingredients together, which she obviously has little songs for
• rei is trying his darndest damn it!!
• he finds it really hard asking about stuff and especially for help but hes trying and i love him 😢😢😢
• rei sucks at cracking eggs, miri laughs endlessly, kazuki is dying in the background,,, he keeps explaining how to do it correctly but it never seems to get through to rei
• its not even funny at this point, either the egg is smashed before hes even tapped it to the counter or he ends up using too much force when tapping it against the counter or he successfully cracks the egg but shell ends up going in alongside it-
• he is also stupidly fixated on being able to crack eggs single-handedly (he says its bc its efficient and its always good to have a hand free, which is true, but really he just thinks its badass) and its the bane of kazukis existence, he comes home one day to find both rei and miri (bc miri would also think thats the coolest thing ever and want in) in the kitchen with an almost empty egg carton and egg and shell covered counters, they make eye contact and kazuki immediately turns around and leaves to buy more eggs without so much as a word
• kazuki abandons using omelets as an easy entry-level dish after that
• rei is bad at seasoning savory dishes, hes bad at eyeballing the appropriate amount, kazuki does his best at helping or getting him to use measurements but rei is stubborn, he obviously doesnt want more to have more dishes that absolutely necessary so he needs to work on his eyeballing skill
• during early sessions kazuki would always supervise closely and sorta just constantly stare like a hawk over reis shoulder, he learned quickly not to do that again 💀💀💀
• rei doesnt really grow to like vegetables but kazuki learns ways to work around that by discretely incorporating them in dishes
• rei does like cucumber tho, subtle and very crunchy, put some salt on that sucker and youve got an easy snack (that he shares with miri), you dont even have chop it in order to enjoy it which is appreciated
• kazuki throws a bunch of cookbooks at rei and urges him to look through them and see if anyhting piques his interest, rei flips through them before going to sleep which can bite him in the ass when he has to go to sleep hungry as fuck 💀💀
• hes woken up multiple times with a cookbook in the tub with him
• rei enjoys baking a lot, his and miris sweet tooths never go unsatisfied
• he doesnt bake frequently per se, but he does so in bulk, and freezes cookie dough and such
• kazuki, early on, suggested cooking games in order to maybe get rei a bit familiarized with terms and techniques but he grew to regret it, a gaming night where everyone is gathered in the living room and kazuki loses his mind at the logic in the games, he doesnt stop commentating
• they end up getting into cooperate cooking games like overcooked, plates up and one-armed cook tho and its all good, if they play with miri in the vicinity they have to bite their tongues in order to not swear
• rei struggles grasping his mind around meat, theres so many kinds and cuts and doneness levels and ways of preparation and spice blends- its all a lot
• rei and miri each get their own aprons to match with kazukis 🥺🥺🥺
• miri gets a little yellow one with a monkey or like a sky blue or pink one with a white rabbit, fuck it why not both
• rei has an orange one with a black cat
• or if we wanna stick to an ocean theme, miri would have a goldfish or jellyfish and rei would have an octopus
• rei is a bit of a mess in the kitchen but we love him anyway, i just feel like hed be the type to go "ill clean it all at the end"
• he unceremoniously throws dirtied utensils and pots in the sink to be delt with later
• doesnt even use waiting times to clean or clear his space a little, kazuki is horrified
• rei finds doing the dishes a bit tedious at times but he enjoys the process and seeing the fruits of his labor in the form of sparkling clean dishes
• the repetitive motions are very soothing
• he doesnt like getting wet tho and wears gloves
• rei listens to music when cooking- maybe some instrumental tracks, nothing too distracting
• miri observes whenever either of them are cooking, she stands on a little stool in order to see the counters properly, she is really curious and inquisitive
• early on in reis cooking journey she would give him pointers and reminders she remembered kazuki telling them
• rei isnt an adventurous eater or cook, he prefers things that are simple and quick to prepare
• wait times for rei are long and arduous so he sneaks off to play some video games in the living room, the first few times he did this were disastrous and hes learnt to turn down the volume by a bit and reminding himself that he is in fact in the middle of cooking something
• the family makes lots of homemade popsicles during summer
• when kazuki and rei first try cooking together they mess up a lot but eventually they get a system going where each of them has their own tasks. they make a good team in the kitchen for the most part
• cooking very much becomes a family activity for them after a while

It's time for the first edition of Syrup's Syrup Corner! In these little posts, I'll be going through my favorite ways to make a food or drink!
Today, we're making Blueberry Waffles!
First, your dry ingredients! Sadly, I am Unovan born, so I will be using the Standard measuring system instead of the Metric system! For your dry ingredients, you can put them all into one large bowl! You'll need:
2 cups of all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 a teaspoon of salt
and 1/4 a cup of sugar. I personally prefer the taste of cane sugar, but white sugar is also usable!
Sift all those together in your large bowl!
Next, I like to set aside my blueberries. I source mine locally, and I like to use more tart blueberries rather than sweeter ones! The waffles themselves are already sweet enough. I like to use:
1 to 2 generous handfuls of tart blueberries.
Set those aside in another bowl, then we can move onto our wet ingredients! You're going to need two separate bowls for these! You'll need:
Two eggs
1/2 a cup of vegetable oil
2 cups of milk
and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
First, separate your egg yolks from your egg whites. You can do this by carefully cracking your egg in half, then carefully passing the yolk between the eggshells, allowing the egg whites to fall down into your bowl! Of course, there are other ways of separating the egg, but this is the one I personally use. Just make sure you pick out any pieces of eggshell that my fall with your egg whites! Nobody wants those in their food!
Now you can add the rest of your wet ingredients to your egg YOLKS and mix lightly. Make sure you're NOT adding them to the whites!
Now you can start beating your egg whites with a whisk until stiff peaks form, a.k.a. when they start looking pointy! I like to do this by hand, but using a machine does the same thing!
Now you can slowly add your wet ingredients to your dry ingredients! I like to use the whisk for this, but anything works well! Make sure you don't add your egg whites yet!
Once your wets are thoroughly incorporated, throw your blueberries right on top of it, then scoop your egg whites and place those on top! Now you can gently fold in those ingredients! To fold it in, use a large spoon and stir it lightly, until fully incorporated. Try to not pop open any of those blueberries right now!
Once you've done that, you can oil up your waffle maker! You can use cooking spray, but I always think it tastes better if you use butter.
Add as much of your batter to the waffle maker as you want, and cook that thing on medium-high heat for about five to ten minutes, or until golden brown!
Remember, your first waffle will almost never turn out perfect! It's your practice waffle, afterall! Your next ones will come out better!
Once you've plated your waffle, you can top that thing with whatever you'd like! Whipped cream, whipped butter, fruits, and obviously syrup are toppings I love on these things!

An Early Irish Feast for Drachenwald's Spring Crown, AS LVIII
Spring Crown this year was hosted by Dun in Mara in the territory of Glen Rathlin. As with almost all SCA projects, this feast didn't quite hit all the things I intended. In particular, I'd been thinking of having documentation available alongside it, and of a few more dishes that didn't make it in the end. A fermented porridge was high on that list. Next time!
Before I start talking about food, though, let me thank my kitchen crew: THL Órlaith Caomhánach, Lady Gabrielle of Dun in Mara, Noble Mallymkun Rauði, Lady Erin Volya and Cassian of Allyshia. There were a few other folk in and out of the kitchen too (THL Yda Van Boulogne did excellent work on the various flavoured butters), but these five did the bulk of the work. Lady Erin also provided lunch; cooking at Crown for 80 people as her first event cookery is notable.
The main idea here was to lean heavily on seafood, which isn't often done in SCA feasts in my experience, and represents the food of Ireland well. I also wanted to include pork as a main meat, emphasise oats and barley, and use plain vegetables presented well. There were to be condiments on the table, hence Yda's butters: plain, honey, mackerel and garlic-and-chive, as well as green sauce (largely Órlaith's work, with Cass finishing it out). Condiments and the number of them available were an important aspect of Irish medieval hospitality.
I also wanted to nod to the usual progress of early Irish feasts, which started with formal services and frequently ended up so raucous and drunken that the nobility woke up the following morning on the hall floor along with everyone else. So we served to the tables to begin, and then had a less and less orderly buffet.
The first "course" was a set of pottages. The main one was pork, cabbage, onion, carrots, turnips, and barley, which had been slowly cooked down over a number of hours. There was also a version with lamb, for those who couldn't eat pork, and this doubled as the gluten-free version, having no barley. And there was a vegetarian one, including barley, but substituting mushrooms for the meat. These were served with flatbreads, risen yeast dough having been a tough proposition in the Irish climate (and still is, really; that's why the most Irish of breads is soda bread).
As that was consumed, we stocked the buffet with: sides of salmon (steamed then baked), mussels (boiled), monkfish and mackerel (also steamed and baked), chicken pieces (baked), hard-boiled eggs, turnips with butter, carrots with honey, samphire (new to many, most enthused about it), caramelised onions, creamed leeks, buttered cabbage with and without bacon bits, and a broth-based porridge, accompanied by a variety of flatbreads and oat pancakes. And as that all cleared, we put out fruit, some cheese, some oaten biscuits, and a "cheesecake", of sorts.
Everything was plausibly pre-Norman Irish, with the exception of the oaten biscuits and the cheesecake base, which were egregiously modern - although I could argue for something very like them. Simple cooking techniques mean that those are broadly plausible as well - steaming may seem incongruous, but I'll have more to say on that again.
It all seemed to go down well. A number of people said they weren't sure about fish, and then followed with "… but that was great!", and the green sauce, the samphire and the cheesecake were particular hits. The technique of doing a wide variety of simple things usually does well, I find; even the pickiest of eaters can usually have a few things, and the adventurous can pile their plates with a wide variety.
And I had energy enough left to wander around the party hall later offering plates of fruit, cheese and biscuits, which is one of my favourite things to do.

🍌🍞 CeCe's Honey Banana Bread 🍞🍌

Hiya there, everyone! So this is a little different from my usual post, but I've wanted to share some of my favorite recipes with you all for a while now. I figured since I can't cook for you all in person, I can at least share the recipes I love so you can make them yourselves.
So this first recipe is my honey banana bread recipe that I've been making for about a year now; I hope you all enjoy it, and if any of you make it, please send me pictures so I can see them.

Wet Ingredients:
1 cup of honey
2 to 3 ripe bananas mashed (It depends on how big the bananas are.)
2 eggs
1/3 cup of vegetable oil
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1/4 cup of milk (You can use whatever type of milk you like, I use whole milk because it makes the bread fluffier in my opinion.)
Dry Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups of flour
1 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of ground cinnamon

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Grease and lightly flour a 9 x 5-inch pan.
In a cereal bowl mash up your bananas until it's almost a pudding constancy, then add in your milk and whisk until combined.
In a medium-sized bowl mix together your flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
Then in a large bowl whisks together your honey and oil, before adding in your eggs.
When all three are mixed together add your banana milk mixture until everything is blended together.
Once all your wet ingredients have been combined continue to stir while slowly adding all of your dry ingredients.
After that continue stirring everything together until all of the dry ingredients are mixed in with the wet.
When that's done pour into your pan and sprinkle more cinnamon on top for a little more flavor.
Then put it inside the oven and bake for 55 minutes to 1 hour.

And there you have it honey banana bread!
Small Flavor Tip: You can add other things like chocolate chips, dried fruits, and nuts to have it fit your taste a little bit more. I don't really like those with banana bread so I'll usually spread honey or apple butter on a slice.

Spider-fat part 1
Peter was your average college student. He liked sports, did well in most of his classes, and had plenty of friends. But he had one big secret. He was Spider-Man. He had never told anyone. Many people were beginning to become suspicious however. This was mainly because of his amazing body. Peter had rock hard abs and bulging biceps. His toned muscles were all formed because of being Spider-Man. His friends would ask him how he was able to look so good without ever going to the gym. Peter just brushed it off as good genes.
After months of peters friends questioning him, peter decided to come up with a plan to stop them. While being Spider-Man had lots of perks, it also had some drawbacks. Peter had an enormous appetite. He could clear a buffet without breaking a sweat. Of course, he had to control himself or he would gain weight. And who ever heard of a fat Spider-Man. But this gave peter an idea. If he put on a few pounds, people would stop suspecting him as Spider-Man.
the next day, peter went crazy. For breakfast, he ate 10 pancakes drenched with butter and syrup, as well as a dozen scrambled eggs. And he washed it all down with a pint of orange juice. Peter liked the feeling of being full. His tight stomach made him feel confident. On his lunch break, Peter was still a little full from breakfast but he knew he couldn’t stop eating. There was a McDonald’s across the street from his office that he decided to go to. Peter ordered a Big Mac, 3 large fries, and a large coke. “14.85” said the cashier. “I’m not done” said Peter. The cashier looked shocked, but a little intrigued as Peter ordered 20 nuggets, a double quarter pounder, and a large chocolate shake for dessert.
Peter picked up a pizza on the way home and ate the entire thing by himself. He went to bed rubbing his tight stomach.
as the weeks passed, peter had gained about 20 pounds. His six pack had turned into a sizable gut, and his ass was a little thicker too. Peter decided it was a good stopping point to get people off his trail. He tried to eat a small breakfast but he was too hungry. He decided that one more day wouldn’t hurt so he ate his usual massive breakfast. Peter had began to develop a relationship with the cashier at McDonald’s because he would go everyday on his lunch break. Kevin, the cashier, had invited peter over for dinner that night, and Peter couldn’t turn up free food. Peter showed up with an empty stomach, and a button up shirt that was beginning to feel a little tight. Kevin welcomed him and Peter saw the massive spread that he had prepared. There was an entire chicken, baked potatoes, turkey, loads of vegetables, and burgers. Peter was almost drooling at the sight of all of the food. He took a seat and loaded his plate with a mountain of delicious food. Peter was in a hungry daze as he shoved handfuls of fettening food into his expanding gut. Peter was stuffed. He leaned back in his chair and let out a massive burp. “I can’t eat another bite” he said. “But look at all these leftovers. I would hate to have to throw them away.” Kevin said. Not wanting to make a bad impression, Peter reluctantly continued to eat. With every bite he could feel the buttons on his shirt getting tighter. He finished the rest of the food and he felt like he could pass out. Peter sat in his chair groaning as Kevin walked into the kitchen. What else could he possibly be getting? A few minutes later, he came back with a platter of desserts. It contained pies, cakes, muffins, pastries, cookies, and more. It was the most appetizing dessert peter had ever seen. “I don’t think I can…” Peter said. “Come on… sugar expands your stomach. It won’t even make you feel full.” Before peter could protest, Kevin had scooped two pieces of pie, a scoop of ice cream, and a thick slice of cake onto peters plate. Peter slugged his way through the desserts, giving up on silverware. He decided to just use his hands to shove his dessert filled hands into his mouth. As Peter shoveled the last bite of cake into his mouth, he felt a pop. He looked down to see a button had popped off his shirt, revealing his tight, fuzzy belly. Kevin decided it would be best for Peter to stay at his house for the night.

What You'll Need:

Lemon Cake Mix (18.25 oz) 1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil 2 Eggs 3 TSP Lemon Juice 1 TSP Lemon Zest 3/4 TSP Vanilla Extract Large Bowl Electric Mixer Cookie Sheet Convection Oven Spoons
Step One:

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

Add Lemon Zest, Lemon Juice, and 3/4 TSP of Vanilla Extract to the batter and mix again until thoroughly combined.

 Use spoons to drop out globs of the dough onto the baking sheet about 1-2 inches apart.

Tumblr came in absolutely clutch with recipe recs for me lately, so in the spirit of paying it forward, I return offering a recipe for:
The Best Sweet Potato Casserole You Will Ever Have in Your Life

courtesy of — if I'm tracing my recipe genealogy correctly — either my great-grandmother's church friend, or some kind of benevolent patron god of brown sugar and root vegetables. With a couple of eggs, it achieves almost a soufflé texture, and it's deliciously sweet but not in the overkill way that keeps me away from some other sweet casseroles.
Are you looking to upstage everyone who's bringing a pie to the family gathering? Do you have a sweet tooth, but not enough of a sweet tooth for those other sweet potato recipes that douse them in an equal mass of heavy syrup or marshmallows? Then this is the casserole for you.
Vegetarian, and easily made gluten-free with substitutions.
Ingredients:

3 cups pre-cooked sweet potatoes, slightly mashed
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup brown sugar
Streusel topping:

3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup flour (any kind will do)
1 cup of a crunchy, salty snack*
*Pecans are listed on the original recipe, but if you're allergic to nuts, try crushed pretzels (small but not totally pulverized pieces). If you can't have wheat either (hi friend!), I used crushed rice chex with a half-teaspoon of kosher salt sprinkled on this year, and it was still S-tier. Truly, I don't think you could go wrong with any plain rice cereal plus extra salt to taste. We love a flexible recipe!
Equipment:

9x9 or roughly equivalent baking dish (if dish is bigger, just bake for a slightly shorter time)
At least 1 mixing bowl
Spatula
Fork (for prepping streusel)
Instructions:

If you haven't done so already, cook the sweet potatoes until they reach a texture suitable for mashing. This can be done in the microwave in about 10 minutes, give or take depending on settings, but be sure to poke some holes in the skin with a fork before microwaving, so the steam can escape.
Once cooked, remove skins then mash them. Let them return a little closer to room temperature before stirring in the eggs (so the eggs don't immediately cook). Add the butter (1/4 cup, melted), brown sugar (3/4 cup), and vanilla, and stir thoroughly before spreading out evenly in baking dish.
For the streusel, mix brown sugar (3/4 cup) and flour. Cut the butter (1/3 cup) into this mixture; this works best if the butter is slightly cooler than room temperature, but not straight out of the fridge. Use the tines of a fork and the side of a bowl to break the butter apart and mix, until a crumbly texture is reached. Mix in topping of choice, then sprinkle on top of potatoes.
Bake at 300° Fareinheit for 30-45 minutes, uncovered. The streusel should be lightly browned. Best served warm.
Other notes:

Cinnamon and its friends (allspice, nutmeg, etc) can be delicious additions to the potatoes and/or the streusel. This dish is sweet enough to function as a dessert, but it's also great as a side to something savory. In terms of prep, the sweet potatoes can be pre-cooked and mashed ahead of time; simply refrigerate until ready.

Hanukkah Muffin Tin Doughnuts
Remember a few years ago there was a new bakery item called a duffin?
It’s a cross between a doughnut and a muffin. It became world famous but began in the U.K. at a famous tea room called Bea’s. Then Starbucks sold a version of it and it was a hot item for a while.
I remember duffins because I made them at home and everyone loved them. Unlike classic doughnuts, they are incredibly easy to prepare and taste absolutely wonderful, so for me, these are the best choice when you want a homemade Hanukkah doughnut but don’t want the fry-mess and the fried-food-kitchen-odor.
My version (the recipe first appeared in The Jewish Week) is also dairy-free but you can substitute dairy milk or cream for the coconut milk, and you can brush the surface of the baked muffin with melted butter, then roll it in sugar and stuff it with jam (that’s the way it was done at Bea’s). Also, you can cut them (or use a pastry tube) and fill them with whipped cream or sweetened mascarpone cheese. Or jam.
Btw, I don’t call them duffins because I don’t want to get into legal or social media trouble. So for me, these are simply Hanukkah Muffin Tin Doughnuts.
HANUKKAH MUFFIN TIN DOUGHNUTS (DUFFINS)
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
3/4 cup coconut milk (or use dairy milk or cream or other nondairy milk)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 10 muffin tin wells. Place the sugar and egg in a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for 1-2 minutes or until light, thick and smooth. Add the coconut milk, vegetable oil and vanilla and mix for 1-2 minutes or until they are thoroughly blended. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and beat at medium speed for a minute or until well blended. Fill the muffin wells about 3/4 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes. While the doughnuts are baking, mix the confectioners’ sugar and cinnamon together. After the doughnuts are baked, but still warm, sprinkle the tops with the cinnamon sugar.

70. Baking therapy on a budget Ft. Genshin Characters- Rosaria: Savory Chicken Cabbage Pie

Hello, everybirdie. Today we are going to be doing an interesting dish. I honestly had no idea how this dish was going to taste. I thought about it for a few days and discussed it with my family. My mom and dad both helped me with brainstorming this pie. And so this pie was a group effort.

I knew that I wanted to make two pies for pie day (3-14) just because I thought it would be funny. Having a pie for dinner and a pie for dessert.

But first, we should talk about the character in question. Rosaria. She is a nun from Mondsadnt who doesn’t believe in the Archon. She is always spying on the main character and she doesn’t trust anyone. Even with saying this, there have been times in my gameplay that I was really glad that I had her. Because for a long period of time she was my first cryo character that I had. I remember saying to my siblings “I love her play style, but I don’t like her personality.”

First off we are going to be making the pie crust and if you buy it at the store, you can skip this section. You do not have to feel bad about this at all.

For the pie crust you will need:
Flour
Salt
Shortening 
Ice cold water

You are going to add your flour and salt to a bowl and mix them together. Cut in your shortening until the mixture is like small peas. Now you are going to sprinkle in your water a little bit at a time. Now the recipe says to do it a tablespoon at a time and only use 6 to 8 tablespoons of ice-cold water. And I made two pies one using this method and the other being the way I was taught by my mom of just eye-balling it. And personally, I thought that the eye-balling it was better. both of them turned out well.

Now onto the pie itself. You will need:
3 chicken thighs (no bone) 
1 head of cabbage
1 cup corn
1 onion 
.5 cups of sweet Italian peppers
1 egg
A little salt
A little pepper 
A little paprika

Preheat your oven to 425 F.

I first cooked the chicken in my instant pot, and pressured cooked it for 20 minutes. And let it naturally release.

I waited for it to completely cool down before deboning the chicken thighs. I placed them in a bowl and put the rest of the chicken thighs in the fridge for later use.

Next was the cabbage. I shredded the cabbage and place it into the chicken broth that was left in the instant pot. And I pressure cooked the shredded cabbage for 5 minutes. And let that naturally release.

I diced up one onion and place it in the bowl with the chicken. Once the cabbage was done I carefully drained it a little bit and added that to the bowl that had the chicken and the onions.

Now was when I added the frozen corn and the italian peppers. I honestly had no idea what I was going to add to this pie other than the chicken and the cabbage. This honestly just came from my brain one night, right before I went to sleep.

Once I added in all of my vegetables, I cracked one egg and added it. I did this to bind everything together.

I rolled out the bottom pie crusts to fit my 9 inch pie tin. Put my mixture into the pie, and baked it for 30-45 minutes. Honestly, it all depends on how crispy you like your pie crust. I personally like mine on the almost burnt side. But that is just me.

This pie was honestly so easy to make, but I was nervous about the taste and the texture of the pie. Because there are people in my house who can’t really do crunchy foods and I wanted everyone to be able to eat it without having issues. And everyone said that the pie tasted good. That the texture of the cabbage was like mashed potatoes, with a cabbage taste. Wasn’t really expecting that, but hey: when you are cooking without a recipe, sometimes you just gotta wing it.

Cabbage Chicken Pie (Recipe Makes 2 Pies)
3 chicken thighs (no bone) 
1 head of cabbage
1 cup corn

Place your chicken in Instant Pot for 20 Minutes on pressure cook. Let it naturally release. DO NOT REMOVE THE CHICKEN BROTH. Shred cabbage in a food processor and place the shredded cabbage into the chicken broth. Pressure cook the cabbage for 5 minutes. Dice 1 onion. Shred 3 chicken thighs, and place them in a big bowl. Add in your onion, corn, and peppers. Add the cabbage and a little bit of chicken broth. Add in 1 egg. A little bit of salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix everything together. Roll out pie crusts and place them in your pie tin. Evenly add your mixture between the two pies. Bake the pies for 35-40 Minutes. Enjoy.

The Radahn, Rykard, Ranni, and Blaidd household
Ranni trying to study for finals, but her brothers are being obnoxiously loud in the background.
Blaidd is trying his best to help Ranni focus, but is just creating more noise and distractions
Eventually Ranni snaps and bursts into the living room to tell her brothers to stfu, but only to find them wrestling over who's turn it is to watch tv.
Radahn is holding the remote high up, while Rykard is climbing his brother while smooshing his face during the climbing attempt
Radahn is trying to push Rykard away with his other hand, but Rykard has a death grip with no intention of letting go
All while yelling at eachother, and throwing all the reasons each has for needing the tv more than the other
Ranni ends up just having Blaidd pick her up, and take the remote from Radahn, whose too distracted to notice
She then gets her brothers attention, and snap the remote in half in front of them. Then wordlessly returns to her room to study
Radahn, and Rykard are just frozen in place staring at the remains of the poor tv remote
Blaidd feels bad for them, and bakes them cupcakes. He saves his best cupcakes for Ranni, along with a glass of water.
Meanwhile next door at the Godwyn, Morgott, and Mohg household
The three are having brunch, as they're never organized enough to have breakfast at the same time
Mohg gets up too late, Godwyn gets up at fairly normal morning hours, and Morgott wakes at the crack of dawn with like 5 hours of sleep tops
Mohg likes having sunny side up eggs, but he likes to stab at it and watch the yolk bleed before eating it. He has the eggs over mash potatoes, with sausages cut and mixed in. His drink of choice is chocolate milk, with marshmallows. He won't drink it without it, and it has to be cold.
Godwyn likes to have a little bit of everything. So y'know the usual pancakes, toast (with extra butter), french toast (with extra cinnamon), hash browns, rice, bacon, sugar cookies, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, orange juice, strawberry milk, an iced latte, and a glass of water. He gets his appetite from his dad.
Morgott is pretty simple. He doesn't like to eat much in the morning, he prefers to have something light, and then have a big dinner. A black coffee is a must, with a little bit of brown sugar. He'll sometimes have some toast, and scrambled eggs. But often he'll blend together a bunch of different fruits, and vegetables and drink that. He's the kinda guy that'll blend just about anything together so he doesn't have to cook.
So they're all sitting down eating brunch.
Mohg is ranting about a new hyperfixation of his
Godwyn is listening closely, while Morgott is half listening, as he already heard the rant earlier.
When suddenly the house phone rings
Morgott goes to pick it up, as he's expecting a call from someone from his study group
It ends up being Varré tho
So Morgott calls for his brother
Mohg's eye lights up during the phone call, as he starts doing the lil hand flaps with his free hand
Once he hangs up, he's bouncing all over the place. He's trying to shove the rest of his food in his mouth, while rambling how Varré had found the perfect place for their secret base.
He ends up almost choking on his food.
Godwyn, and Morgott have to force him back in his chair
Godwyn is lecturing Mohg about eating slowly, and not talking with his mouth full
Morgott is already upstairs packing stuff for his twin, knowing Mohg would be too excited and forget half the stuff he needs for his outing
Once Mohg is all done eating, and had left with all he needs. Morgott and Godwyn are betting whether Varré will finally confess his undying love for Mohg.

Kitchen Basics and Essentials

Earlier I made a quick list of Kitchen Witch Essentials, and planned to expand on it later. However, my list was made with the assumption that you have the basics to cook with. So, I figured I'd go over them to ensure we're all on the same page moving forward.
I am not a professionally trained chef. I'm just a Canadian home cook who's had an interest in cooking since young. Not everything I think is important, other home cooks will think is important. But I think we can agree on about 90% of what I list.
Utensils
Knives. Any list about Kitchen essentials, the Chef's knife will be right at the top. But you'll actually need 2, maybe 3 knives. The chef's knife, as mentioned, or just a main working knife. It's knife used for cutting up everything from meat to veggies to garnish. If you prefer to use a Chinese Cleaver, go for it. Your second knife you should have is a paring knife. Basically a small knife. It's good for more delicate work like eyeing potatoes, cutting up berries, stuff like that. Now most people will tell you, that's all the knives you really need, but I recommend one more. Particularly if you are going to get into bread making. A serrated knife like a bread knife. It is so hard to cut bread with a flat edge, because you end up squishing it. The serrated knife will cut crusty bread without issue.
Pots and Pans. I think it's fair to assume you have at least two pots and a pan or skillet. You can boil pasta and cook sauce at the same time with the option to fry an egg if you wanted to.
Cutting Board. Protect your surfaces and your knives and use your cutting board! I see you quickly chopping up veggies on a plate. Having multiple cutting boards can be quite useful for when you are preparing something like meat. I like to use a plastic cutting board to do most of my meat cutting on so it can be easily put in my dishwasher when done.
Vegetable Peeler. There's a lot of different kinds of peelers. Some are fancy, some can turn vegetables into noodles, some are electric; I'm just talking the basic hand held vegetable peeler. It does a lot without taking up much space.
Measuring Cups and Spoons. Super important to have if you're following directions from another recipe. As you get more experience, you'll find yourself measuring every ingredient less and less. But if you're baking, or trying something new, measure.
Mixing Bowl. Your cereal bowls are only going to get you so far. A mixing bowl can hold Salads, marinating meat, pancake batter- just not at the same time. If you enjoy baking, you will want more than one.
Baking Trays. Ideally two of these. Most known for cookies, but used for roasting all kinds of things in the oven. It's also good to put one in under the rack of something that drips while cooking. Lasagna is bad for this. Catching the falling food on a baking tray makes clean up way easier.
Appliances
Stove. Doesn't matter if it's gas, electric, induction; how many heating elements you have; I'm assuming you have a stove.
Oven. Since most stoves are built into an oven, I am going to assume you also have an oven. I know not every place is allowed to have one, but chances are if you're interested in Kitchen witchcraft, you have access to these things.
Microwave. These days, they are everywhere. Some apartments will be built with a kitchenet which has no stove, but definitely a microwave. These are super helpful, melting butter, defrosting ingredients, while being very safe.
Fridge/Freezer. The modern standard of food preservation. Every home that consumes perishables has at lest one; and it's not uncommon for a large family to have more than one fridge or freezer.
Also
Salt. If you're cooking, you're gunna need salt. Especially if you're going down the route of Kitchen Witchcraft. Not a lot; I got excited one time and bought like 5 different kinds of salt. I'll probably be dead before I use it all. You don't need a bunch or even fancy salts. Just get a box of salt; Kosher, Sea, Pink, whatever. Even the finely ground iodize salt will work.
Oven Mitts. Pulling stuff out of the oven is hot! Protect yourself from burns.

Abomination Casserole:
Your mom is from the Midwest, so when the rapture comes, you're prepared. After all, you have a pantry. No matter how far you ran, you couldn’t leave your culture behind you. Fresh vegetables haven’t been available in weeks, and tonight you’re down to your last onion and half a bag of frozen mixed veggies. There’s still some fresh dairy, but everything else is canned, dried, bagged, or powdered. This casserole, you decide to christen Abomination Casserole, both because of Revelations and because you have done something truly unholy by bringing it into the world.
In a large mixing bowl you combine egg noodles, chopped onion, canned cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, canned tuna, frozen peas and carrots, Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning mix, and shredded cheese. When everything’s wet enough, you scrape it into a 9x12 and bake. The result is a tuna noodle casserole so dense, so cheesy and tangy and herby, so exactly like a sour cream and cheddar potato chip dipped in ranch dressing but as a casserole, that it’s for the best the world is ending. No one should ever eat this. No one should ever know about this.
Of course, you take personal responsibility for destroying the evidence. It can’t harm you. If this casserole proves just one thing, it’s that your mom was right all along: you really are the antichrist. Hail Satan and pass the garlic bread.
