They didn't make much sense, even then. Not like Sirius and Remus: not like the bright star that Sirius always played to Remus's sombre moon, inevitable and necessary and right. James was too much of everything: too bold, too confident. Too tall and too handsome and too filled with a sort of carefree, effortless magnetism that Peter could never hope to emulate and could only linger trustingly at the edges of, waiting to be pulled into its orbit, and it always felt like some small cosmic miracle when he was.
'Cause there we are again when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
i can't live in a world where swifties complain about taylor playing the ten minute version of all too well. do you know what it was like for nearly an entire decade, hearing the whispers, the mentions, that somewhere it existed? people asking about it, wondering about it, joking that she'd release it at random (knowing this would likely never happen), and THEN, after the devastation of her losing her masters, she turns that loss and sorrow into gold, we get to relive the red era for a second time, we are given every song that was originally intended to be on that masterpiece of an album, and the cherry on top of it all is the mythical song we'd waited for all that time and never quite dreamed we would actually hear?! all too well was always like a sacred thing between her and us, and every time she used to perform the original version, it was an intentional gift because she knew we loved it. she sang it at the grammys for us. she sang it at tiny desk for us. atw will always be a shining jewel in her discography for a reason. taylor can sing the ten minute version for the rest of time and it will always be special, because it is a blessing that we got to hear it at all, and it represents so much earnestness and imagery and deep hurt and profound recovery, and it stands as such a testament to her artistry.
