stillness: How does your OC act while still? Are they fidgety? Do they have any common gestures or tics? Does their clothing affect how they hold themselves while at rest?

Allana has a natural stillness to her that tells you each move she makes is considered, a preternatural grace making it clear to anyone with eyes that there’s more to her than meets the eye. When she’s nervous, her fingers are in constant motion, flexing and relaxing, picking at her cuticles… it’s an easy tell. To combat this, she clasps her hands together tightly, holding them primly in front of her. And of course her clothing adds to her impeccable posture. Those corsets are tight af, man 😅

change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?

Allana isn’t one for change. So many aspects of her life have changed against her will and she exercises control by staying true to herself and sticking to what works. She isn’t easily swayed by the ever changing trends of King’s Landing, instead sticking to timeless looks that make her feel the most confident and enhance her assets perfectly.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Syal Antilles is one of the most important perspectives in Legacy of the Force. Not only is she regular GA military, but she's almost the only person young enough that she's never had to question her superiors or lose faith in her government before.

I've been thinking about her telling Tycho that the idea that something like the firing of Centerpoint that destroyed her entire task force might happen again scares her less than the thought that maybe she'd be willing to do it, and I'm finally registering that she's questioning her own judgement as much as she's questioning her orders.

The idea of writing some kind of story that follows up on Fury and shows what the hell happened to her after that has appealed to me for a while. I'm currently referring to the idea as X-Wing: Guiding Star, but that is liable to change if I think of something better.

I still haven't managed to suffer through Revelation, but I know it's in that book that Admiral Niathal, who Tycho's working directly under in Fury, sees how bad she's fucked up and deserts the Alliance and sides with the Jedi. Lacking any information to the contrary (not that I'd necessarily care if canon said otherwise) I am assuming that through some combination of luck and scheming, Tycho leaves with her. Even in Fury, when he's there as Luke lays out part of the plan to save Allana and blow up Centerpoint, Tycho admits that he personally wants the Jedi to succeed in this, even though his duty doesn't let him act on it. I think Niathal, his direct superior and supposedly Caedus' equal in authority, splitting from Caedus gives Tycho the push he needs to be able to interpret his duty the same way that the Jedi are: They're working in the best interest of the Alliance as a whole by aiming to remove Caedus in particular from power.

I remain kind of convinced that Tycho knew, or at least guessed, that the "diplomatic mission" he gave Syal would likely turn out to be bullshit, in the sense that however the war went from there, the Jedi weren't likely to rejoin the GA because of diplomacy. I think that mission was at least as much a way to reunite Syal with her immediate family and not cut her off from Uncle Tycho, in a way that they could both justify to themselves, and that Tycho could justify to the people above him in the chain of command, as still being in the line of their duty.

Once they're on the same side again, though, that diplomatic link between Syal and Tycho, and by extension the Jedi and the ex-Alliance forces answering to Niathal, actually might prove very important in terms of coordinating the two groups. Especially if Tycho managed to set it up in such a way that they had a way to talk to each other that he was confident beyond reasonable doubt had escaped the notice of the GAG, which undoubtedly would have done everything it could to monitor someone of his rank who was known to be very close to several prominent traitors.

I feel like as far as it's presented in canon, Wedge's arc in LotF is pretty much complete by the time Fury kicks off. He spent Betrayal and Exile being chewed up and shat out by both sides of the war, causes and organizations he once honestly believed were worth fighting for. At this point, he aligns with the goals of the Jedi in removing Caedus from power, because of all the atrocities Caedus is committing, but actually Wedge doesn't give half a shit about the Alliance.

Wedge in LotF is tired of making sacrifices for the concept of "making the galaxy better," as consensuses and politicians and idealists define "better." All he has left to care about are people. His goal is the removal of Caedus from power, because Caedus is killing people who don't deserve it. His motive - the thing that keeps him fighting every day, the reason he isn't content to sit this out and let younger people handle it - is his family.

Luke, Iella, Corran, Syal, Tycho, Myri, Mirax, Han, Booster, Jag, Winter, Jaina, Wes, Leia, and many more that I don't think I need to list exhaustively to make my point.

And, like. Not quite as much as it is for Han and Leia, of course, but Jacen's fall is plenty personal for Wedge, too.

Part of the point of this story is kind of to pass the torch in terms of showing how Wedge gets the relatively happy ending that he does, and getting Syal to a point where she can stop seeing her father's legend as a standard against which to measure her entire self-worth, and be proud of herself for her own accomplishments, and be comfortable trying to carry on the good he did for the galaxy, starting with taking up the leadership of the famous Rogues.

My attention span is limited, so I'll cut to the next big thing: Gavin.

As you may have guessed, this story is basically going to take place in the same time frame as LotF: Invincible. In that book, there is an offhand reference to Admiral Gavin Darklighter still taking orders from Caedus. I don't remember the context of that mention, but I have some stuff planned for Gavin.

Specifically: He's the member of this huge extended family who had no way out of the Alliance, and no one else could get him out, and since Tycho left with Niathal, Gavin's under constant observation from GAG, and he regularly meets in person with Caedus, so he can barely even think about anything disloyal.

Caedus senses an opportunity and preys upon the helplessness of Gavin's situation, combined with a generous amount of Sith mind-tricking, to subtly manipulate him into believing he's been abandoned by everyone he loves for his loyalty to the Alliance, just like Caedus thinks he was. Caedus doesn't want to fuck with Gavin's head too much, because the guy is a genuinely good commander and leader, and Caedus doesn't want to ruin such a valuable asset to the Alliance.

He's wrong, of course. Tycho in particular tried everything he could to find some way to get Gavin out, or at least to send him a message, but he failed, and it haunts him.

Caedus sends Gavin after Tycho, who has his own fleet among Niathal's loyalists. For some reason, I think probably having to do with the game of 11-dimensional Force chess that Luke's playing with Caedus, Wedge and Syal are sent to join Tycho's fleet.

In this matchup, Gavin has a far larger fleet, so there's plenty of tension. Part of what's exactly going on is that Wedge and Tycho are trying to tie up Gavin's fleet long enough to prevent it from joining the simultaneous attack against the beleaguered coalition forces defending the Maad System.

It's kind of reminiscent of Wedge defending Borleias from the Vong, in that they need a similar kind of psychological warfare method, a bait with which to tempt the enemy into acting the way they want.

But this time, instead of a fake superweapon and some religious offenses, they have to do something that's personal to a version of Gavin who believes they all betrayed him.

There is a lot of pain, all around.

I mean, Gavin's not stupid because of it, but Wedge has to be the best admiral alive at this point (though Luke's probably better at some forms of strategy) and both he and Tycho are significantly more experienced. Most importantly, they all know each other.

I'm running out of attention to figure out the details of this, but eventually Gavin breaks the Sith brainwashing and figures out what actually happened, and there are emotions.

(As a completely unintentional (on my part) side effect, having experienced that specific kind of Force bullshit before and maybe had some Jedi mind-healing sessions for the scars might mean that at the end of FotJ, he's able to recognize what Abeloth's doing and maybe resist it to some extent.)

There is more that I have to say here, but at the moment I have no more attention span for this.

Hello! Just stopping by with a question about writing XD Do you have any characters who's role grew bigger than you expected? Any surprising changes your characters went through during the writing process?

Hi! This ask is a week old! Sorry for that!

Tbh the obvious answer would be Asha and Dora, who really began as tools to facilitate the plot and developed into major side characters with an unhealthy, self-destructive romance. I've talked about them a lot.

But this post is not about them. We all know of the war lesbians at this point.

I wanna talk about General Edward Fallin for a sec. You might know of him. I refer to him exclusively as "Theo's brother".

In the WIP that existed in 8th grade that would later become literally unrecognizable and turn into "Devourer of Souls", he was a major character and I liked him quite a lot. I felt like there was something interesting that I managed to hit with his character.

(I really wanna make a post about this proto-WIP but I keep procrastinating -_-)

From one WIP to the other, he was the one to maintain the most character traits (tbh competition is nonexistent bc they all changed so much - literally not even genders were maintained). He's always been Reiner's (part of Flick) father, Theo's brother, and a Master of the Order devoted to his work.

But he's a really minor character. He only appears in 2 scenes: one in the first half and one in the second.

Allow me to ramble about My Boy for a bit:

Ed is a bad person. He's an antagonistic force (not necessarily an antagonist) and is in direct opposition to Theo from a military standpoint. He is responsible for a fuckton of deaths and outright says he's willing to hurt people himself if it gets him what he wants faster. He denounced his own sister to the Order when they were teenagers, leading to her getting a death sentence and running away, he ordered his men to break Seth's cane in half so she literally can't run away when they capture her, and he stabbed Theo through the shoulder the first time he saw her again. He vaguely talks like a pissed-off mob boss. Good people don't do this shit.

But that's the surface-level stuff. Because once you listen to what he's saying, you start to see something else.

For an antagonist, Ed has a weirdly strong attachment to his family. And not in a weird way. When Seth straight-up asks him "why tf are you doing this" he just says "Whatever it takes, I want my children to grow up in a world without war".

He knows he's doing bad things, but he's willing to do them if it means the war will end faster and his family will be safe. His motivation is 100% to protect the people he cares about.

But I ain't no basic bitch. I'm not leaving it at that.

He feels like an antagonist because he's being seen from Seth's POV. Flick's POV is very different.

Reiner (who is part of the whole that is Flick) is Ed's youngest son, and he sees him fully as a hero, as do most people in his country tbh. He admires him, even when Allana's soul joins his because of divine fuckery (not getting into the divine soul fusion fuckery rn).

And I mean... can you blame him? Ed is a super-competent general who made his way up the ranks at a very young age, led an army against two demigoddesses at the same time and kept the upper hand, won a fight against a demigoddess and survived, was the first person to push for a (temporary) peace treaty and managed to maintain it for 20 years, and constantly does everything in his power to keep that peace in place, even going against the will of the gods themselves.

That sounds pretty heroic to me - not necessarily good, but heroic. Hell, that feels like a protagonist's storyline, almost.

I'm all about that perspective switcheroo. Theo probably seems like a horrible person from Flick's POV, before meeting Seth.

"some vampire attacked me too. he didn't.. he didn't have dark hair but that's how i got hurt." that alone was enough to worry sella even more, if it had just been her who was attacked like that.. perhaps it would be simply just wrong place, wrong time. but sion too? she let out a shaky breath to steady herself at the thoughts that came thundering through her mind. "but that's the thing sion, sabina got her memories back.. she was attacked too, it's unrelated to our own attacks but.. she's back." she didn't want to get into all of those details at the moment, she was too exhausted to start that fight again, to defend allana and her own choices as well. "i don't know if sheev is going to be able to keep us all safe." she admitted, not when all three of them had gotten injured one way or another in just one night? how could sheev stop that from happening next time? how could sheev do anything to prevent it from being all four of them next time. it was foolish to think otherwise. she appreciated sion's support, and she smiled back at him, but it didn't quite meet her eyes. he didn't know why there was all of that anger, the disapproval, and she was sure if she explained what allana had done, he would change his tune. "forbidden love and all, seems fitting for how tragic our family is." she muttered, rubbing at her face as she tried to focus on getting answers, on fixing things. "i'll ask winter tomorrow. i'll see what i can find out. but please, can we keep this between us? at least for now."

One can never be sure.” She smiled gently at Mara. She was incredibly worried about Allana. Not having any communication from her daughter. “I am fine. Nothing I won’t heal from but please if you see my daughter tell them that they need to answer their kriffing phone...” She was also worried about Jacen but at least she could look out for him. She knew where he was and what had happened to him. “It would seem we do. Come in please.” Tenel opened the door. Moving slowly and carefully.

Maeve wasn’t as thin as Margaery, never had been and probably never would be. Their cousin Allana used to like pointing that out to Maeve with a sneer whenever she visited during their youth. And when Maeve’s body started changing Allana’s comments became crueler. She would often say Maeve was pear shaped. 

The youngest Tyrell never thought being described as a fruit would be considered an insult. Back then Maeve did her best to ignore Allana’s taunting. She tried being like Margaery, who never let Allana’s cruel words upset her. Margaery for the most part remained unfazed, only really retaliating with cool words of her own whenever she would catch Allana mistreating her little sister. 

Maeve appreciated that, finding amusement in the way Allana would walk away with a loud huff. One time Allana had even tripped on her own skirts. Later on when asked by Margaery if Maeve were alright she’d answer with a nod, trying to look unbothered. Allana’s words stayed in the back of her head. Only becoming louder over the years when the difference between her body and Margaery's became more obvious. 

Just you wait, Maeve. Allana is like a bully who peaks in high school, but lets herself go after that.

I can't wait for Maeve to become Queen and get that confidence. Just imagine Allana at Maeve's coronation, bitter AF, being forced to bow to her.

ok so i can't choose - they're all my babies! so uh... have them all lol (also i literally threw these together and should not be considered a reflection of my ability to make moodboards lmao)

starting with Allaegon, we have Aegon Targaryen x Allana Tyrell. Allana is sent to KL as Queen Alicent's ward as a favor to her parents. She befriends the Targ kids, as they're close to her in age. she and Aegon unwittingly fall in love, but a freak accident robs her of her memories and they have to navigate a rocky path to rediscovering their connection.

Fenndry are my sweet babies, Gendry Baratheon and Fenna Smallwood. on the run to save his life, Gendry stumbles upon Fenna during the journey to Winterfell. they fall into a whirlwind romance and Fenna must choose if she is to remain the obedient daughter or run off with the King's bastard.

and, probably my favorite, Starlie! I don't even have a complete story for them yet, but i am so so in love with Steve Harrington and Charlie Myers. i cannot wait to see what these crazy kids get into!

For the new ask game, what about canvas for Bault, informal for Chiiro, and/or change for Katja? (Yes, I think they deserve a moment in the spotlight.)

canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?

Bault has multiple battle scars on multiple places on their body, but the most notable and noticeable one is the two large scars on the corners of their mouth, which it also got from a fight. It's not as obvious though until you remove his tree helmet, which it keeps on at all times.

Chiiro when he's not feeling like a lolita diva, just dresses in a simple like, long night dress w those tiny string bows at the collar part. It covers most of his legs until like..a little below the ankles, it's very comfy, its what he always wears to sleep! But it makes him look even creepier, and doll-like..

Katja did impulsively cut her own hair at some point in her first year, she was all manic and in front of the mirror and everything, she cut it pretty short too..and the cut itself was...choppy at best. She thought it was cool, and that it gave her the ruggedness and "edge" she needed.

How did you get your parakeet to like you? Mine are afraid of me and would rather me not touch them at all.

Hi! I've lived with 3 budgies in my lifetime, who were all pretty different in how they wanted to interact with me!

This is Allana, who I currently live with. She isn't afraid of me at all, but she doesn't like to be touched and that's okay! She likes me, I think - she turns to look at me when I speak to her, she takes millet from me, and she is happy to play very close to me (like 15cm away).

In terms of how I got her to be comfortable around me, I just kinda gave her space and let her do her own thing! I'm home pretty much all day, and she's allowed to fly as she pleases pretty much all day, so she's gotten very used to me because of that.

Some budgies will be like Allana, and not wanna be touched even if they like you, and that's okay! Some people are like that too!

But some budgies will be like my Squish:

This is Squishy. He was my first little buddy ever. I think he was pretty nervous around me when I first got him.

At the start, I didn't try to get in his personal space at all. I'd just be around him lots. I'd sing to him every morning, and read to him, and talk to him all the time.

Then, when he seemed cool being around me, I would sit with my arm right up next to his cage, while he was chilling in there. I would do this for hours, not moving my arm basically at all. We rewatched the whole of Code Geass like this.

Eventually, he was fine being near my arm/hands, so I started offering him bits of millet or veggies, which he took!

After that, I just kinda left things up to him. I would ask him to step up sometimes, and he would! But mostly he went wherever he wanted - he would especially come and land on me while we watched TV, or sit on my laptop while I played games.

Pretty much every day, I would make a tiny plate of carrot or other veggies, or sometimes apple, and I'd put it on my laptop keyboard, and me and Squish would eat together.

Man, I loved him so much. He would sit on my laptop keys for ages while I played ARK, or PUBG, or Monster Hunter, and he'd get in the way sometimes and mess up stuff in-game, but man I loved every minute of it. He was such a good, happy little dude, and I am so thankful I got to spend the time with him!

Forgive my very long post - but I hope this answered your question a little! And I hope you and your little parakeet friend have a good week!
