Ok, Idk if it's just me but I can't stop thinking about the part in Anthony's letter where he asks if Ian even knows the real Ian... like, I think I'm crazy and tinhatty for seeing Ian as visibly repressed, but Anthony literally sees the exact same thing.

My very detailed thoughts are under the gifs and videos. Buckle up that's a long ass post. I put some of the parts i find interesting in the video.

First of I wanna start with comments like "oh i think Ian is emotionless he doesn't show emotions" he literally did. Watch the video. Don't just listen to his words look at his eyes.

No no no you're not alone. The more i watch him the more I'm like damn this man has a lot to unpack. Like you can see he has so many emotions but also is hiding them. At first people were like Ian is so chill, Ian doesn't care and I'm like HE CARES?? You can clearly see he cares, you can see he's affected by everything happening around, happening TO him. He's just so closed up so withdrawn even he himself doesn't know how to react to things. Just like he said he's the most chill-unchill person. He probably has a hurricane in his mind but he doesn't show it outside. I think it's because he was alone for a long time. He was definitely more open when he's with Anthony but after watching the video I think their friendship stopped being close when Anthony started dating his girlfriend at the time. Ofc there was probably some stuff between them they're friends since 6th grade, but the strings broke and they stopped being best friends probably at that time. And probably after this Ian started to press his feelings. Cause I think he tried to talk to Anthony about that person but it backfired so he stopped it all together. At the time he probably didn't have enough close friends and after Anthony left he was just alone in his thoughts. Ofc he had partners he had co workers, friends, employees but at that point he was already in a state where "it's better if i just shut up about my own feelings/emotions/thoughts cause they're wrong they're the reason my best friend leave me" and everything else, the company, the break-ups whatever it was all his problems, he's the boss, he had to take care of everything and he had to protect his friends/company and everything. He should be the one doing it without bothering others. And that's why he's now "chill" he put on an unbothered person mask to stay strong in the game. He built strong walls around his emotions. He hide them so much that he lost his ability to show his emotions in the meantime. He's an amazing listener, problem solver, perfect boss and friend and best friend probably but he's not good to himself. His feelings are pressed, he has a lot to unpack probably. Idk if Anthony and him talk about everything (i don't think tho i don't think ian could just trauma dump) and i feel like he has to. Not just talking about shit happened before like they say in the video, no he has to talk about his feelings, how he feels about what happened, how he feels now, is he hurt, is he heartbroken. Without a filter. Like he had to leave the labels behind and idk have an open conversation with someone(probably a therapist tbh) and realize that showing emotions is not weak or wrong. And he's not alone. Maybe he felt that way before but he has friends, he has a whole family actually. I really don't believe he's an emotionless person he's just so so introverted in his emotions. And he's lost in his insecurities.

First of all you can see he's emotionally unstable already when he said let's keep going because he's either afraid he's gonna show emotions(god forbid he shed a tear) or so emotional to talk about the subject.

"I don't think I would even recognize if I was being put through emotional turmoil. This is just so sad.

"That doesn't mean you weren't being put through it, that just might mean that you're shutting things off" Anthony explained so well in this sentence.

And this part i definitely agree with Anthony. "How do you know if I'm keeping it to myself?" Cause eyes never lie chico! We can see the sadness showing from them. The fake smile thing is like. Ok yeah I don't think he's fake smiling in every smile but i think when he's actually hurt he just smiles at the person hurting him. Even in this video there are so many moments that you can see he's upset he just smiles and moves on. Not wanting to make things worse or trying to keep everything going. Don't wanna mess up again. But you can't live a life like that. You can't just accept everything anyone is giving and not have a breaking point. Idk him so idk if he had that point already or he'd have that in the future but i know if he keeps ignoring everything and trying to push them aside it's burst. (It's not about Anthony leaving this is not about anyone else I'm talking about Ian's feelings)

And the last part yeah I think we know the real Ian. Cause even if he pushes his feelings aside he's who he is. Him hiding his hurt moments is not gonna affect anyone but himself.

Also wanna add I was so so upset when he said he thought Smosh was his and Ian was just a sidekick to him and even then Ian just smiled and kept going. It's so obvious he knows Anthony felt that way at the time. He's not shocked about this. He probably had his moments about that. I'm so glad Anthony realized that Smosh is not this and that Smosh is them together. And praise him every chance he has for that.

Lastly. I was really sad when Ian said "I forgive you" and Anthony laughed with "for what?" I think this was the only moment we actually see Ian trying to show his emotions and Anthony's joke makes it go away immediately and Ian smiled and hid his emotions again with "just kidding". Again this is all me just putting my thoughts out there but I think Ian deserved an apology or at least a thank you(which Anthony probably did them in private i think) cause he fought to keep Smosh together for years alone. So there was something Anthony could ask forgiveness for. Yes it was the best decision for Anthony and his mental health and it definitely helped him. And Ian could have left with him but didn't. But if he didn't try to stay and fight there wouldn't be a Smosh to turn back to. Wow that was dark.

Anyways this is me overthinking for something I shouldn't at fuckin 2am and I swear I have a life outside this. I just love analysing shit and talking about it ok?

I'm asking because my partner is Jewish, while I'm not, but we both really want our future kids to carry the Jewish culture too. Do you think they will be excluded from the community or there can be some problems like that?

I think it generally depends on the denomination and community itself. If you raise your children jewish and you're apart of the community, i think they'll be considered jewish. either way, a lot of people will consider them jewish, but some denominations won't which is why it depends. ethnically, they will always be jewish. a jew is a jew is a jew. being considered religiously jewish has its own set of rules depending on the kind of judaism you'd like to practice. i'm not super knowledgeable on a lot of technicalities, so take this with a grain of salt, but it really all just depends.

This is the rivalry Dawn could have had.

Robin is a little cocky for sure, more oblivious than a brick sometimes for sure but flirting? Totally on the table - how serious said flirting is is another question entirely (big fan of this alt timeline Robin flirting for months until one day they realize they mean it and that flusters them more than Dawn's even flirtier response - but then they wonder if he might mean it too? Cardiac arrest on the mission, tragic /j)

So if instead of the ankle grabbing Dawn had simply started turning the taunting into flirts? Robin would have been on board for sure! Their dynamic allows for it, and with the many undercover missions they're 1) used to "fake" flirting and 2) have a valid excuse to hide behind. It becomes a new game of "lets not show him he got me with that" and also "lets see what gets him".

Dawn does have the absolute advantage here though, because what really flusters him aren't the big suave gestures, but rather the soft domestic little things. Small, genuine comments that don't carry the intention to fluster, that's what makes his sun rays spin if he isn't prepared to stop it (but if they catch that, and point it out, that's also a surefire way to make him hide behind his hands <3)

But on the job? Pre-reveal? There's barely any room for genuine comments like that (unless we have reached a point where Robin has let their guard down, too - which is actually an option here, similarly to the main au rivalry with Dusk. Takes a while, of course, but they could get there pre-reveal). Something like throwaway comments after missions of how impressive it was that he noticed this one small detail, without any snark and only accompanied by a little soft laugh? Maybe a glance back at him and a smile? He's melting and will need more than a second to come up with a suave response here. Hard to think over "I need to kiss them so bad it makes me look stupid" <3

Any other time though? Dawn finds out Robin may have a preference regarding sharpness early on, and no matter how clever the comment or how suave the flirt, he can just lean down and trace the line of their jaw with the featherlight touch of his claw, and the shiver that elicits is noticed by both. Robin deflects, and thus admits defeat, and as much of a shame it is that they pull away, Dawn already knows next time he'll also add a low whisper from behind sharp teeth. He's looking forward to how they'll struggle to keep their composure after that <3

Dusk? He's a goober deep down, and enjoys the process more than the end result. Why would he try to win flirting ("'Look at me, I'm Dawn, I'm trying to get a good grade in flirting, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve' - this is what you sound like" - Sun loses it at him in their shared mind after that tease) when he could just enjoy being flirted with? If he flusters them too much, they stop and it's much more fun to keep going! His flirting is more playful anyhow, just an evolved form of the teases he directs at Robin from the start that cause less and less disgruntled reactions and more and more playful and outright flirty ones!

Off the job they both get just a tad softer, but at the core treat flirting the same. Sun in particular relies on the suave agent persona because he is trying to get a good grade in flirting, that's what he's supposed to be doing, right? It's a special joy for him when he finds out the little things can fluster Robin just as much, after their isolation deprived them of not only a social life, but of course also genuine compliments towards their person and not just their job (and even the latter is relatively rare). The boys very much enjoy flustering their little rival with genuine compliments, watching them bury their face in their hands and only groaning "Stooop, it's okay, I know" because "But do you? Best to tell you again <3"

As someone that played through Fear & Hunger I'm very glad you aren't going to try it. it's really Disgusting at times in a "I know what you are, developer" sort of way and it takes so much energy to ignore the BAD that its just best to appreciate it from far far away and go "Oooooh cool art style". So I think I said in the author's note that I started writing it as a way to make it through a day of classes after I pulled an all-nighter back in college (and that it took me an entire year to write!) but the idea of Dean and Elena meeting in high school was something I'd been playing around with for awhile even before that.

See, originally I wanted to write an AU where Dean is Elena's ex in the tvd pilot instead of Matt. However, I just couldn't figure out how to make that work (I have since figured that out - stay tuned 👀) so eventually it struck me that it would be fairly easy to slide Dean in as the other new guy because the Winchesters were hunting the Salvatores.

I was also interested in the idea of sort of doing the same thing I did with Addendum and adding Elena to spn but instead trying to get as close to possible to a canon with the Winchesters in the tvd pilot. I didn't go quite as strict with the dialogue on plot in tvd because that's like half of why Addendum is such a miserable write - there's really not a ton of room for creativity or spontaneity - but I tried to really think about it in terms of adding to canon instead of diverging from it. Plus I was really missing writing certain tvd characters - particularly Caroline and Bonnie! - with where I was at in Addendum so it was a fun excuse to write them.

The sequels on the other hand are a bit less interested in canon, in part because of how much Damon and Stefan drive the plot in season 1, and also because I thought it would be fun to see an alternate route to getting to where the show was heading in those first two seasons!

And that's pretty much it tbh. It was a fun easy idea and at the time it struck me as a fairly quick write (16k words later I was definitely laughing at myself, but it was fun to write!) and engaging enough that I wouldn't embarrass myself by falling asleep in any of my classes (and it was!)

I feel like saying Josuke doesn't have any daddy issues whatsoever isn't entirely fair (I've seen some fic and comics go further into how he and his mom might have been treated due to the circumstances of his birth that were pretty compelling) but people who act like he grew up without any father figure are definitely off base imo. Every single adaptation and extra material have always had a focus on his close relationship with his grandpa for a reason!

see, that's precisely the thing. it is literally impossible to be a grown up human without having internalised some sort of illogical Feeling about oneself or the world – but fandom as a whole tends to just assign arbitrary ones to characters based on stereotypes rather than what they actually are like.

i do think josuke feels some sort of way about his lack of a father growing up, but that's as inevitable as joseph himself (or giorno, or jolyne, or even jonathan) having feelings about his own dad, and yet somehow jorge's absence does not get brought up despite joseph and josuke's fairly similar upbringings. the fact is that most of western fandom tends to view the JJBA characters through a (white, usa-centric) lens that simply does not lend itself to a fair or accurate reading when most of the cast is either POC or from an entirely different cultural background. that's why i'm so resistant to label josuke as having 'daddy issues'; the term means something entirely different to me than it seems to do to most of the fandom, based on all the fic, comics, and discussions i've seen (and had) about the topic. it's not exactly like the organised crime aspect of VA, but it fills me with a similar kind of frustration. i don't think one needs a degree in cultural studies or history or whatnot to enjoy a silly series about people punching each other with slutty soul-ghosts, but it's exhausting to see the same thoughtless, very specifically westernised takes being regurgitated over and over as Absolute Truth until the characters are so flanderised they seem nothing as much as a caricature of their original versions. i love transformative works as much as any other fan creator, but i also happen to like the source material. it is infinitely more interesting to me to think about what kind of relationship josuke might have to his heritage as a mixed-race person, or his identity as the son of a single mother or the obviously cherished and spoilt child of a family such as his own (especially in a place and period like canon's late-90s/early 00's japan), than to hear yet another iteration of 'haha, josuke has daddy issues' where the person saying it has no intention of analysing that premise beyond the puddle-depth obvious.

at barely sixteen years old, even as interested in high-end fashion (and as very much part of a working class family who could definitely use the nest egg) as he is, josuke's immediate reaction to being told his missing father is incredibly rich and wants to take care of him is to say that it's not necessary, and he's fine as he is. sixteen. i worked as a teacher with kids as young as a year old and people as old as mid-seventies; that kind of ease of mind is one-in-a-million and not something you'll find on someone who fits fandom's definition of 'daddy issues'. he's not angry at joseph, he's not grasping for money, he hardly even wants to find out more about the missing part of his origins. his only thought is to wish he wouldn't be the reason other people were hurt, and to protect his mother once there is a risk she might find out and be distressed about it. his entire morality system is (from what i remember of canon) mostly based around the question What Would Grandpa Do?, with some leeway allowed for the temper he clearly got from tomoko and for the fact that he is, again, a big and slightly spoilt sixteen year old.

so yeah. it might not sound fair to say he doesn't have daddy issues, but i don't think the terms fandom's operating under are fair to start with, so i'd rather recuse myself (and my interpretation of the character) from it all til we're playing the same game. the sandbox's wide and wild, and the block and mute buttons are there for a reason, so i'll just stay in my corner writing about higashikatas wielding their feelings like sledgehammers til my mum says it's time to go home.

#tl;dr: everyone's absolutely entitled to their opinion! i just happen to find the most common one the equivalent of soap-flavoured cilantro #i definitely agree with the part about his rship with his grandfather! it's a whole thing in my own writing for them #it's just 'daddy issues' has become shorthand for a combination of takes i quite dislike the past few years #so yeah. i'll just... I spent a long time doing this Bingo card with my predictions, at first with a very sardonic attitude and playing with the worse ideas they may come up with, and I imagine with all my cynicism and kind of bitterness towards the CW.

Then I read all the hype and some comments of joy about watching Dean again, and I get it. I hope you or anyone that finds the need/impulse to watch the thing, and not only the pilot for curiosity. Have a great time and find whatever you are looking for.

Personally, I'm not interested from the start since the first announcements and teasers. And I know I'm not the target audience for this, even if the "original" show has been 17 years along my life almost half of my adult life. It does not appeal to me at all.

Mostly because the sequels/prequels fatigue that we are living this last 5 years. EVERYTHING has to be stretched and diluted till the color and original ideas are exhausted just because it's profitable. I hope this wasn't the only reason for the Jackles and family to plan this show, and I wish them the best of course.

Finally, yes if I find the time and boredom to accommodate a peak of the stuff after it aired, I'll be following the Jackles advice:

First for me will be watching LIVE Gotham Knights, and probably hate watching The Winchesters, because of many predictions of my Bingo Card, and yes because I too miss Dean.
