Duck has a pokemon team!

Pokemon under cut (possible spoilers)

Quaxwell: Duck is a dapper fellow who likes to dress up (whether it be drag or digital style) and Quaxwell despite the pokedex more focused on its dancing it is also quite fond of its hair and it will take physical damage if it’s hair is messed with. (it’s not a quaquaval because Duck is middle maturity. Like he’s more mature than yellow but less mature than red, ya catch my drift?) 

Galarian wheezing: based on old-timey Victorian gentlemen, with ridiculously tall pipe hats and we kept smog beards, Duck is old fashioned himself, reading papers, having pocket watches, and wearing a tweed suit.

Galarian farfetch’d: Ok farfetch’d is a duck, like just a duck, it has the same aesthetic as duck but more than that farfetch’d were almost hunted to extinction because people found it yummy and it carried its own leek. In the friendship the Duck and Red Guy ate a chicken picnic: ducks and chickens are from the same family of birds; just saying. It’s galarian farfetch’d because otherwise there wouldn't be a pokemon as it is pure fighting type (again just saying) 

Lilligant: an elegant flower and is quite popular with celebrities, though it is difficult for trainers to keep it’s bloom. Duck would have gotten Lilligant just for its status, Duck is rather vain, although his Lilligant probably never blooms.

Alolan Meowth: Meowth is a luxury pokemon with a coin theme (digital currency!!) Alolan Meowth evolved due to experiencing an even more luxury (can you tell Duck likes nice things) Duck would definitely have this lap cat so he could have a gossip buddy that understands him. 

Smeargle: Duck is rather creative, painting, singing, writing, he was stunted in the work episode, being creative in a way that alienated him from the work environment. Smeargle is known for it’s painting and it’s shiny form has red paint, duck’s favorite color.

Pokemon doesn’t shy away from portraying topics like animal endangerment, illegal hunting or climate change. Some notible examples:

-Lapras’ numbers were rapidly dwindling due to their gentle hearts having trouble fighting. In Alola, Lapras became such a beloved and cherished pokemon that there are now too many. 

-Galarian Corsola and Cursola are bleached coral, directly referencing the dying coral reefs

-In Johto, Slowpoke poaching is an issue. Team Rocket cuts off their tails to sell them due to the tails being tasty

-Sharpedo is a victim of overfishing for its fins, a reference to shark fin soup

-Galarian Weezing became the way it is due to a time when factories were rampent. A reference to the Victorian era

-Also, Weezing was originally supposed to be called La, like Los Angelas. As a nod to its smog issue

Would A Trubbish Be A Good Pet?

Remember the other day when I called venomoths “living, breathing biohazards”? Well, I probably should have held onto that title for trubbishes, everyone’s favorite literal living, breathing biohazards. As much as it may sadden those who, like myself, see a little charm in these little stinky monsters, keeping a trubbish as a pet would be a truly disastrous idea.

I always thought that trubbishes were simply creatures that resembled trash bags. My dismay at discovering how wrong I was hit me about as hard as the stink of walking within twelve feet of one of these pokémon. Trubbishes are, in fact, literally trash bags which have been given life through the power of toxic industrial waste (White, Shield). Are they radioactive? Maybe. It probably depends on the individual. I can tell you this much, though: anything that has been in contact with toxic waste powerful enough to create life is not something to cuddle. Goodness gracious, please do not cuddle a trubbish!

Trubbishes feed on garbage, which on first examination may be a great thing (Black2/White2, Moon). However, much like in the case of Alolan grimers, trubbishes don’t eliminate trash without creating a dangerous byproduct: as a result of consuming garbage, trubbishes generate a toxic gas that they release into the air by belching (Black, Moon). This gas, if inhaled, is enough to send an adult into a week-long coma (Black) requiring a hospital visit (Moon). If inhaled by a young person or pokémon, however, this gas can be lethal (Ultra Moon). It is not a good idea to bring a trubbish into an enclosed, indoor space.

Sure, if you keep your trubbish outdoors and avoid breathing in this gas, you may be able to avoid being sent into a coma by spending time with your little buddy. There’s an unfortunate side effect to keeping a trubbish outdoors too: the stench of their gas attracts other poisonous and toxic pokémon. In the Alola region, trubbishes are known to attract the deadly Alolan variants of grimer and muk (Sun, Ultra Sun), while in Galar their gas attract the region’s variant of weezing (Shield). If a trubbish alone isn’t poisonous enough, they’re likely to attract other poisonous pokémon in your area right to your home. Outdoors or indoors, trubbishes are a lose-lose situation.

They may not be a particularly violent species, but trubbishes can be pretty formidable if they need to attack. They have a truly startling barrage of moves that can induce poisoning, both through physical contact with toxic materials with moves like Toxic Spikes or Gunk Shot and through the inhalation of poison gas with moves like Belch. Again, like I said, living, breathing biohazard.

Look, I know trubbishes are kinda cute, in their own trash-goblin way. They’re really friendly with humans too, as they have adapted the instinct to know that we are the best sources of their food around (Black2/White2). Unfortunately, they are simply too dangerous for anyone to keep as a pet, unless you’re willing to live your life in a hazmat suit while putting all of your neighbors at risk. All of this analysis is pretty mute though, for one reason: I think a lot of people won’t want a trubbish as a pet because they are stinky. Very stinky. You won’t be a very popular person if you share your home with a sentient trash bag.

For the sake of this, I'm only going to be going with two options of what I believe their signature Pokémon would be, since a full team would be pretty repetitive and I always think signature Pokémon are just more interesting. And since a lot of these choices are pretty obvious, I will only go into detail with the ones I think are worth mentioning.

-I only picked out Tsareena for Mineta since it's the only interesting berry Pokémon. There is no other reason. -Yes, I exclusively picked Pokémon with either Tough Skin or Sturdy for Kirishima. It was just too perfect. -I know Greninja is sitting right there, but I think the cute look and color scheme of Politoad fit Tsuyu better. -Hagakure's choices are just based around them being fun, trickster Pokémon, which fits her character. -Pretty much of the sound focused Pokémon would fit Jiro. It's just that I think Noivern is the coolest one and fits her -You might be asking which regional version of the Pokémon Shoto has for his signature. The answer is yes. -Koda was really hard to cover for this since technically every Pokémon fit him, hence why I went with Ditto. -And since I picked Ditto for him, I decided to go with Steelix for Momo since that's used a lot in creating and smelting metals.

A random Call of duty Pokémon crossover. (REDONE)

[Not too different from my original post, I just did a touch up on their teams and added a few characters.]

Ghost’s team would mostly be ghost and Dark types: In my original post he had a Mimikyu but it's been swapped out with Annihilape. He still has his Alolan Marowak, Houndoom, and Banette. Now regarding his Inteleon, I said she was his starter, Well now Inteleon was originally Simon's brother's Pokémon, Ghost keeps her in honor of his family's memory, and as for his Tyrantrum. He still trades Tyrantrum for Price’s Dragapult.

Ballonlea Stadium is the fifth gym in the galar gym circuit, first in fairy type mastery across the globe ~•°☆

Our aim is to provide a strong core for our little town and bring out the full potential of any trainer we are graced to meet. I, Bede, our new gym leader, look forward to capturing the hearts of many as I ascend to the top of Galar's competitive league~

The purpose of this blog is as follows:

Provide trainers an opportunity for open communication with Ballonlea Gym- comments, questions, and concerns have the potential to be addressed here. Please do not hesitate to send an ask, and I will get to it as soon as my rigorous training allows.

Allow us to easily make announcements concerning current events or gym goings-on. Ballonlea Gym is an institution for the community and, as such, may hold events during the off-season. If you would like to hold your own performance or exhibition on the stadium's esteemed stage, reach out and we will see what we can arrange. There is also the potential for small tournaments or pokemon showcases. Do keep your eyes peeled.

And, of course, to educate the public on just how astonishing fairy type pokemon can be!

Jessie would be an Obstagoon or Galarian Zigzagoon for sure. Her team... God this question is a treasure trove. Salazzle, Overkwill, Alolan Raticate, Skuntank, Weezing, and uuuhh we can go with Morpeko.

Shiloh is a lot harder, I dunno if I can think of any off the top of my head that look similar to her. We know that Shiloh would choose to be an edgy black wolf if she could choose her appearance so it's easier to say Zoroark. I guess you could argue like Hisuian Typhlosion because they're relatively tube-like without too much fluff? Team would be Lopunny, Leavanny, Hisuian Lilligant, Gardevoir, Tsareena, and Pheromosa.
