James Cordon
Tumblr media
Lights flashed as a sound of applause sounded. You sat comfortably on a long couch, Bella on your right and James Corden sitting on a chair beside the couch. The audience was full of people of all ages, wearing masks and sitting in silence.
"Bless you for being here, Thank you so much for coming Bella and Y/N. It's you first time here in Los Angeles, are you guys loving This Los Angeles sunshine that you've been greeted by?" James began.
Bella opened their mouth and spoke, "I've seen like 10 minutes total of sunshine since I've been here. I got here like December 30th and it's really has been raining."
"Its just rained every day." you say lightly. Your legs were crossed at the ankles and your hand was in your lap, the other laying behind Bella on the couch.
"It's nice, it's quite British."
"Yeah, it's- it really is, it does feel like home doesn't it?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah, it does now, we're into a new year. 2023. Uh, Y/N did you make any resolutions at the start of this year? Any intentions?"
"I mean, I'd love to get more sleep." You laugh lightly, eyes fixated on the older man.   "There wasn't much of it last year."
"Yeah that's right." Bella agreed. The glasses that perched on their nose glistened with each movement of her head. Their blue clad arm yanked yours from behind, resting it on the couch in-between the both of you. Hand centimeters away from yours.
"Now, Bella, we're so thrilled you're here were all such fans. You are from a pat of the united kingdom called, Leicestershire. Now, that's such a lovely part of the country. Now, some British actors struggle with an American accent but yours is absolutely brilliant.-"
"Thank you."
"- How did you get your accent in such great shape?"
"Um, I had a dialect coach which was helpful and uh we started the, the first phrase I mastered was like 'Olive oil.'"
"Olive oil."
"Its really hard, like olive oil is hard and also, ****"
"Wow." he laughed shockingly.
"Yeah, I remember just hearing them say it all the time on set, same with olive oil." you laugh, remembering the memories of being on set.
"We're curse words an important part of the learning dialect?"
"Yeah, because the the character I play, Ellie. Curses in the show like every two seconds so like that was definitely important and like I mean there's so many."
"Oh yeah, there wasn't a part of the day where you wouldn't hear her saying some words. I cursed so much growing up, so I was very proud."
"And did you ever get in trouble?"
"Oh yeah, I got grounded so many times after they heard. They were so shocked at the words that came out of my mouth at such a young age."
"So, Y/N have you spent any time in the United Kingdom? What do you think of the place?"
"Yeah I do."
"Okay, do you enjoy it when you're there?"
"Yeah I do, I go there pretty often to see this joker. Its very expensive over there." you shrugged, feeling the warmth from your friends' hand inch closer to yours, "I don't usually have to pay, get treated like royalty over there." you laugh.
"Treated like royalty?"
"Oh yeah, Bella makes sure I'm indulging in all the food and having the best time over there."
"Now, lets talk about your guys' highly anticipated show. I think this is going to be one of the biggest shows of the year. Its called, 'The last of us.' and tell us who you play and what it's about."
"Yeah, so, I play Ellie Williams. She journeys across uh America with uh a guy called Joel who she really doesn't really take to initially. Um, they travel looking for a sort of a cure for this cordyceps infection which is ravaging, um, the world because Ellie is somehow immune. And along the journey she meets Jamie which is Y/N's character and they sort of become friends."
"Right, and its basically its kind of like its all taking place in the sort of zombie apocalypse."
"Yes."
"I mean, how do you think you would fare in such an apocalypse, would you be good-"
"Terrible, my response to stress is often to freeze. So fight, flight will freeze and they tend to freeze. Um, actually, the zombies in this show, the clickers, like like the whole point is that if you need if you are completely still then they're not going to figure out where you are. So maybe I would be okay?"
"Like Jurassic park."
"I've never seen Jurassic park."
"You've never seen Jurassic park?"
"Really?" you gasp with surprise.
"The gasps, my goodness. Never."
"Any of them?"
"No."
"You  absolutely should."
Pointing toward the crowd, "Well, they're all old enough to watch the original and I'm not but I've still seen all of them. They're were my favorite movies growing up." you say.
They looked towards you, eyes wide, "You'll have to show me them then."
"Maybe we can watch them when we get back to the hotel." you say smugly. A smile dancing along your face.
"You two seem to be very close."
"We are." Bella confirmed.
"People think you're dating sometimes."
"yeah, we've heard that a lot."
"You guys seem to flirt unknowingly."
You sigh as he says that, "I don't think its unknowingly." you joke lightly. A pinky finger reaches yours, intertwining tightly.
"We should be dating." they said matter of factly, looking at you with wide eyes.
James smiles lightly at the interaction, a smile on his face as he watched you two talk. The crowd was going crazy, eating up every word that you two spoke. "We should." you agree, eyes flittering across Bella face.
"I hate to interrupt but we should be ending this pretty soon. Do have anything else you want to say?"
Still looking at Bella, you pull their hand into your lap. "Yes, actually -" you began. Rubbing your thumb across the back of their hand, "Bella, you wanna do me the honor of completing everyone's dream"
"I would love." he says dreamily.

I really wish people would differentiate
Tumblr media
Honestly, I think one of the things that makes a lot of fandom culture and what not so toxic is the unableness and unwillingness of people to differentiate between "I like this", "This is good" and "People who made this were good people".
Yes, I chose the Howl's Moving Castle gif for a reason. Because it is one of those examples for me. The movie is messy from a storytelling perspective. The movie is also quite bad if you see it as an adaption. Yes, the book is so much better and I adore that darn book series. But also: I love the movie to bits. I just love it. The atmosphere. The characters. Himbo Howl. The soundtrack. Just everything. I adore it. And to me this is not that much of a challenge to think about all of that at once.
But... yeah, fandom discourse often does not work like that, does it? There is a lot of "I like it, therefore it is great and everyone involved with it is an amazing person!" going on. Or "I dislike it, therefore it is bad and everyone involved with it is a scheming villain".
And you see it in so many regards. Be it: "This media disagrees with me politically, therefore it artistically bad". Or: "I like this actor and his roles, therefore he cannot be a rapist." Or: "I love this book and the adaption does not do it justice, hence everyone who made it wanted to attack me personally."
Meanwhile I am sitting there and feeling anxious whenever I criticize something I actually like, because I always gotta fear that some fans are gonna attack me about it, because who am I to dare criticize it.
You know, I really did like Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 as games. I still think there are some issues with the games and that the games really are bad adaptions of the books.
I absolutely do think that Digimon Universe Applimon is not really well written and has way too many filler episodes. Yet, it still very much is my second favorite Digimon season.
I can acknowledge that Christorpher Nolan makes movies that are really good on a technical level - but I still hate each and everyone of those fucking things.
And yes, I absolutely do see that the Fast & Furious movies are brainless, dumb and not even very well done technically. But I have rewatched them more times than I can count.
Also, yes, I am gonna enjoy Castlevania to bits, even though Warren Ellis is a horrible human being and should see some fucking consequences for what he did.
Oh, and also, I absolutely hate Zac Snyder and the movies he makes and think that no matter whether intentionally or not they have some horrible politics. But I also can admit that he seems to be a pretty alright guy, who cares a lot about the people around them and is very fun to work with.
Why is that so hard for people to do? Why? Why can they not distinguish between personal likes or dislikes and... you know... Quality? Or morality? These are different things. You can like something and still think it is pretty darn bad. Just as you can dislike something and admit it is actually darn good.
I mean, dumb example, but: I do love eating at McDonalds from time to time, and you can absolutely get me to leave by serving almost anything from the French cuisine. I will still readily admit that the latter is the better quality food AND also more healthy.

Reader being emo 😎 jk like metal lover reader
I will of course leave room for imagination but also include like Reader outfit photos
Reader having good sense of music, style, being shy, anxiety, panic attacks, angsty feelings, drama and trauma oooo
pet names
bold, punk, jerk or like asshole reader
Lots of aus, and like modern au bc im annoying
i was thinking of doing like a crossover of like Robin x Vickie but Vickies past is Anne with an E since theyre the same actor yk? it would be difficult to figure out since the timelines in each are so different
anything u want
will NOT write:
age play, baby talk, annoyingly cliche submissive shit, get that shit out of here
i wont romanticize domestic violence or make light of abusive relationship dynamics, hell noooo 🙅🏽‍♀️
Emotional whiplash, i want things to make sense
animal play. if you wanna be a bunny demon angel wolf hybrid please screw off 😭
Any kinks im uncomfy w (ex. piss kink 😦) ill let u know what im not okay with writing

THE BLACK PHONE
WOOOOOOOO I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! and rinney is so fucking cool. i love those little gays, man
rinney fluff and angst is needed so bad i love them with my soul, man
gonna say this once again, im not gonna write smut about kids so pLEASE if any minor hunters read all the way down here just for that, take this moment to consider jumping out of the highest window possible 🙏
fix-it au's and modern au's are gonna be my main go to when writing tbp content because i uh... suck...at writing fics that take place in the fucking 70's in denver ☠️
FIX-IT AU, like finney getting another chance is so good im foaming at the mouth. im currently obsessed with @starsthatlinethesky 's fic on that so (PLEASE) go check that shit out its so good!
brance, MAYBE, most likely. i love bruce hes so sweet and vance is cool so i probably will write shit about those little gay men
terrance and finney's mom place swap. i want to write about finney and gwen being able to be happy without terrance and his destruction so hes getting erased at least once or twice 😊
gwen pov fics since i havent seen a lot of that
stranger things x tbp crossovers are so cool. like finney/will where will moves for whatever reason w his dad after season 2 or 3 since itd make the most sense. i love that shit
not writing smut but i probably will age everyone up a bit once or twice 🤘
i dont know if im gonna end up making x reader shit but if i do, reader isnt gonna be a preppy giddy child, theyre gonna be a punk, an asshole, a badass, closed off and overall AWESOME. you're welcome 🤗
other than that its pretty much fine, if u have any other like show ideas i might be open to write for hmu in the requests babeee MWA MWA

thoughts on TLOU episode 4
again, the visual storytelling was really fantastic at the start of this episode. all of the devastated scenery did a lot for the worldbuilding, and some of the shots - the downed train on the bridge, and the truck veering off the road and into the forest- were incredibly beautiful.
bella ramsey continues to do a great job as Ellie. i’ve seen a lot of people comment that her Ellie seems ‘younger’ and more ‘childish’ in terms of mannerisms, but i think that’s part of it being live action. a live actor on screen can convey things better than any motion capture, no matter how advanced the technology.
we got a lot of backstory on Tommy in this episode that we never get in the game. it’s never made clear in the game exactly when and where Joel and Tess met, for example. i always assumed Tess was already living in the Boston QZ when Joel arrived.
Tommy being a military vet, is again, show-only information, which I think makes sense for his character, though I’d actually assumed that Joel was the one who’d been to Desert Storm.
pedro pascal I think did a good job conveying more of Joel’s bitterness in this episode, particularly towards Tommy. “I’ve gotta go get him” has been his attitude towards his brother since the very start, and he seems to try once more to distance himself from Ellie now that they seem closer to reaching their destination.
in the game, Ellie and Joel run into the Hunters in Pittsburgh, not Kansas City, so they’ve already made it much further west by car in the show than they ever did in the game.
Joel repeating, “They’re not gonna hit you” to Ellie while they’re being shot at got me a bit choked up.
I was a bit worried the show as going to soften up a lot more of the plot and violence, but I was pleasantly surprised by the encounter with Bryan. We don’t often see characters in the situation of ‘we took down the bad guy, but didn’t kill him... should we let him live?’ and the Bryan’s frantic attempts to plead with Ellie and humanize himself by bringing up his mom and introducing himself were genuinely uncomfortable to watch.
I also think they did a great job showing that while Ellie is hardened- and she shoots her first person here a lot sooner than she ever does in the game- she is still a kid who is not prepared to deal with matters of life and death, nor should she be exposed to the brutality of this world.
they seem to have avoided the hunters plotline entirely- Kathleen’s group seem to be rebels who have seized control of what FEDRA used to maintain, and clearly don’t see themselves as bandits. I like the Henry connection, and I am hopeful Henry and Sam do not have the same exact fate as in the game, given that they already changed Bill and Frank’s story.
I am glad that the show kept the point that Joel did spend time as a bandit/hunter himself. him having a lot of hearing loss in one ear after years of shooting was a nice tidbit, too.

On the scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate Jurassic World Dominion?
(This becomes a very long post that goes all over the place, so I apologise. If your attention span is as short as mine, I won’t be offended if you just “too long, didn’t read”)
This is actually quite difficult for me to answer, because I’m easy to please when it comes to films - if I had fun watching it then to me it was a good film. And I had a lot of fun watching Dominion. So I’ll try putting on a logical head for this one.
Spoiler free opinion: 8/10
I’ll go more in depth with my opinion which means I will openly talk about stuff that happened in the film. So serious spoiler warning! (All you asked was to rate the film out of 10 but I guess I’m going full opinion time!)
Ok. I loved this film. Seeing Alan, Ellie and Ian back as main characters was OF COURSE a big part of that. I also loved seeing the dinosaurs in the world, how they were with the humans and other animals. And I liked that the ending was “so yeah. Nothing’s changed from the beginning. Dinosaurs are in our world now so deal with it.” With the exception that the humans and animals were no longer fighting back. The parallel between the beginning where the horses were being used to round up the Paras and the end where they’re a unified herd was great. And I liked Alan’s last look at a little girl playing with a dinosaur. It was him seeing that dinosaurs and man could co exist.
The amount of different dinosaurs was great! And the animatronics were. Top. Notch. That giga animatronic is beautiful. The scene where Maisie is with those workers and they watch the brachiosaurus in solemn silence was really nice actually. I liked the lack of dialogue. You could hear some indistinguishable shouts in the background and Maisie whispers to that one guy about the flare, but the fact you couldn’t hear what any of them were saying was just a nice way of showing what was going on without the brachiosaurus’ majestic moment being sullied by dialogue. It was just a nice gentle moment. I like how the franchise has used brachiosaurus as a symbol of peace amongst humans and dinosaurs since the Sleeping in the Tree scene in the first one. I feel like every time they show a brachiosaurus dying, it symbolises current animosity between the humans and dinosaurs - see: Jurassic World + JW: Fallen Kingdom. So maybe this little scene shows us (foreshadows??) that humans and dinosaurs can find a way to co exist. Maybe I’m thinking way too deeply into this.
Another thing I really liked was the family dynamic between Claire, Owen and Maisie. I felt this was the film where I liked Owen the most (don’t get me wrong, I liked his character a lot in the last two films, unpopular an opinion that is in the fandom). He felt more mature and grown up, less selfish and less quips, and I haven’t seen anyone actually acknowledge that yet. Although, that’s probably due to him being played by Chris Pratt and I understand that separating actor from character can be hard - a post for a different time.
As I was saying, I liked their little family. It was shocking to actually see a Jurassic Park couple stay together from the previous film. A first in the franchise I think! I’ve enjoyed Claire’s story throughout the 3 films, and it hasn’t ever felt forced to me. Trying to make up for treating the dinosaurs as money making attractions rather than the animals they are is a simple but good idea to make her character likeable. Maisie was a little grating at the beginning - girl, they’re literally trying to protect you! You are old enough to understand why they’re not letting you beyond the bridge! - but I could understand why she was fed up. Bet they didn’t even have WiFi in that cabin.
The bad guys were good enough, and they served their purposes. It would’ve been nice to see Dodgson act like book Dodgson though. The nice, friendly Dodgson when he’s welcoming Alan and Ellie to BioSyn, but in truth is cold-hearted and has no qualms about letting his underlings die to progress his company. That way I feel like his death would’ve been much more satisfying (don’t get me wrong I was grinning like a maniac the entire scene. It was still good to see an end to the guy responsible for starting the franchise).
Alan, Ellie and Ian were damn near perfect in this film and I’m disappointed that we only got the one scene of just the three of them together - a scene that was mainly Ellie and Ian talking plot related stuff while Alan was arguing with a barista (on behalf of all baristas, I apologise. You are my favourite character of the entire franchise Alan. I love you). Don’t get me wrong, I found that really funny, and it fits Alan’s character - see: Alan + Computers in the first film - but I wanted a whole scene of three of them. Maybe they’re discussing something together, and then the conversation escalates to Alan and Ian getting into one of their classic arguments until they realise Ellie’s gone quiet. And she’s just stood watching them like “… you guys done?” And then they split.
And then of course, they needed a second scene of them either:
Traversing the lands, somehow separated from the Jurassic World characters, where they maybe talk about how they never actually did the whole “surviving dinosaur infested jungle” thing together. Alan did it first with just Lex and Tim and then the second time the entirety of JP3, Ellie did it with Muldoon (rip) for a short while, and Ian only really did it in The Lost World, as he was resting up injured since Rexy broke out in the first film. They could come across Rexy, either as a short Dino hunt scene or as maybe just a nostalgic scene (she could be sleeping or something when they come across her and they realise she’s the same one from JP due to her age and scars)
There wouldn’t have been time, but it would’ve been cool if they’d taken the tour with Ian and we get a call back to the three of them in the car, maybe Ian flirting with Ellie a little and Alan is less than impressed. Or maybe it could have been a really nice catching up bit. Ellie telling them about her kids growing up and being in college and what she’s up to. Ian telling them about his own kids, perhaps slipping in something about his daughter Kelly having been with him on Sorna. At least give us a hint as to what Sarah’s up to? Are they still together? Where is she? It would be nice. And then Ian asks Alan what he’s up to and he just says he’s doing what he’s always been doing, and leaves it at that. Again, they could see Rexy while on the tour and like I said before, is just a nice throw back moment. I would say they could go through the lab area and try going in to see it, breaking in, but at that point it would just be ripping scenes from the first one (but man do I love the three of them simultaneously breaking out the seats. They’re so great I love them!)
The throwbacks and references to the old films were really nicely done, I thought! First of all, they didn’t just reference the first film. A lot of “final” films in a franchise do the whole nostalgia awakening thing, but they usually just use stuff from the first one - aka the most well known and liked one. But they didn’t. In fact there was a surprising amount of JP3 references! E.g. Billy’s 3D printed raptor vocal chamber thingy was on Alan’s desk in his tent, and you can’t tell me you didn’t hear Amanda Kirby screaming “BEN?!?!?!” in your head when Claire was hanging in the parachute from the tree. I thought overall, the references were tasteful and not forced in your face. You could say the giga hunting them around the car was directly ripped from Rexy’s after-Gennaro car tossing, but I felt there was enough difference for it to once again be a nice throwback. Actually, I like that scene a whole lot. It’s one of the bits where the film especially feels like a Jurassic Park movie, which to me wasn’t felt all the way through the film (more on that later). I liked how real Maisie was when the giga was chomping down on the bars around her. I didn’t blame her for freezing in terror, and I thought the acting from her in that bit was really good! However I didn’t like the film making me think Ian was going to die. Felt for sure like the film was going to go “haha! The original characters aren’t immortal! Nostalgia won’t save them from being eaten! They’re all in the same boat” but I’m really glad they didn’t do that.
I’m surprised they sidelined Blue for the entire movie! She basically just said “you better get my kid back” and dipped. I think it was for the best, she wouldn’t have fit in with everything else going on. But she was such a big part of Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, and after seeing the raptors in all three JP films as lethal and to be avoided at all costs, it was a big thing to see a raptor/keeper relationship that wasn’t based on mutual hatred (Muldoon and the Big One were totally Owen and Blue’s opposites). Not to mention the toys and other money making products they got from her, it was quite shocking for her to be absent and unmentioned for the majority of the film.
I liked how they had Rexy win against the Giga, honestly! She had to win, because she is the Queen of Jurassic Park, obviously. But this jester prancing about in her court was bigger than her and a lot younger than her. Rexy was there from the beginning and she’s been in a few tough fights! The Big One gave Rexy iconic scars but she was young and had a massive advantage at that time. When she was up against the Indominous, she was fairly old and almost didn’t make it. And then with the Giga, she had been through and suffered a lot, and she was even older. Yet she still got a bit of damage in there. I was about to throw hands when they made it look like she had been killed. I liked that the Therizinosaurus got some hits in before Rexy got up to finish the giga off. It was a good way of killing the Giga without taking the moment away from the franchise’s most iconic dinosaur, even when the odds were against her. In true Rexy fashion, as seen with Blue, that one Carno and now the Therizinosaurus, she gave her assisting Dino a nod and let them go. I just hope that Alan, Ellie and Ian saw the end of that fight, I don’t want them thinking Rexy died. And she’s got family now? She’s not the only T-Rex any more?? Good stuff. She’s the Matriarch of that little family for sure.
Now for some things that brought down my opinion to an 8/10.
The characters should’ve all met up a lot sooner, I felt. Just as you were settling into the story of the Jurassic World characters, it would cut to scenes of the OG 3 and you were immediately sucked into it. So when it cut back you had to try and focus on them while trying not to wish it would go back to Alan, Ellie and Ian. If they’d met up sooner, you’d be able to focus on the Jurassic World characters’ stories as well as get more OG 3 content.
The plot line with Maisie and her mum. I did like it and found it interesting. But honestly it felt like I was watching a different film entirely. It didn’t feel like I was watching a Jurassic Park film, just another SciFi. I mean, I get that if they can clone dinosaurs from incomplete dna, then they can do it with humans, and I liked how they tied in “filling the gaps in the genome sequence” thing. But there was something about that plot line. I don’t know.
Disappointed we didn’t get any information on some of the other main characters from past films. When we saw Barry again, we got to see quick pictures of Vivian and Lowery, which was nice, but. How about Sarah Harding? Or maybe Zach and Gray? Or most of all, Timmy and Lex? Couldn’t they have asked Ariana if she didn’t mind putting down the paintbrush to do a small cameo? And I’m sure Joe Mazzelo would have loved to have at least done a scene. He still put Jurassic Park pictures and stuff on his Social Media. He’s still an actor! Timmy and Lex were iconic. And Claire could’ve at least had a line or something where she tells Owen that she was talking to her sister on the phone and that the boys are doing ok. But I am at least grateful we got our original 3 back.
The film kind of forgot that Alan was a beacon of survival in the franchise. His knowledge of dinosaurs helped them survive in Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park ///. “We look for your son… in the direction he’s going” - Mr Udeski, 2001, gone but not forgotten. You stick with Alan, you do as he says, you live to tell the tale. It would’ve been great to have a “what do we do?” scene where they all just turn and look expectantly at Alan. Instead, he was just kind of there to do… not a lot of Dino related stuff to be honest. Ellie told him to get the locust, so he did, He could’ve tested Maisie’s knowledge of dinosaurs when they were just the three of them, like he did with Timmy. Or he could’ve had a scene to himself, a moment to remind the audience who the original Main Character was from the first film. I just love Alan so much, he needs the recognition he deserves!
They never found out what Dodgson did. They never found out that he hired Nedry. Imagine a scene where the OG 3 find that out and absolutely tear him a new one between the three of them. Alan, Ellie and Ian went through way too much in this franchise for them not to get the chance to verbally eviscerate Dodgson for his greed and desire to be ahead in the genetics race. That, along with them tweaking his character to be more like his book self, would just make it perfect. I’d eat it up. His “Dennis Nedry sends his regards” Dilo death was chef’s kiss though. I’d keep all that for sure!
I don’t know if it was just me but… there weren’t that many kills. The most we got was the breakout in Malta. BioSyn was full of Red Shirt employees! But they just got sent home? Did I miss a massacre or was this film just really merciful? Maybe it’s because the group was full of main characters from the pat films so they couldn’t kill off anyone there. So like, have some characters of note amongst the BioSyn workers and University students who get eaten! It just surprised me how so few people died in the final film of the Jurassic Park franchise.
Now for some miscellaneous things I couldn’t write a paragraph on:
I liked Alan and Ellie with Maisie. It was nice to see 2 characters from the very beginning, who had seen everything throughout the franchise, with a character who was not only new, but only just starting her life really. Thinking about it, Maisie was quite lucky! She got parents in her first film, and grandparents in her second! Nice. It would’ve been good to see Alan have a moment with her, maybe bringing back the whole “Alan isn’t good with kids but hey, he’s trying!”
Barry. Is. Back! And it was great to see him. Was very scared they were going to kill him off, although death by raptor would’ve been fitting. Sorry you never got to say goodbye to Delta, Barry. :(
Where did Zia go??? She was in the one scene at the beginning and then disappeared. Glad to see my boy Franklin again, shame we didn’t get to see his bestie Zia though.
Pleasantly surprised they let Dodgson’s protégée guy live. I was prepared to say goodbye as soon as we met him. He was prime Red Shirt material.
I liked how they branched out from just Dinosaurs! Of course Pterasaurs have been in for a while, and there was the Mosasaurus, but seeing the cute little Diictodon (took me back to Primeval with Sid and Nancy) in Malta was nice, and the Dimetrodon drowning itself to do a JP3 Spinosaurus reference was cool too! (Although I was a little disappointed it wasn’t an actual Spino. I know there’s no way a Spino would fit in those mines, and it did defy everything by killing a T-Rex, but I did love it. The roar, the design… it was cool).
Carno/Allo team up (Think it was an Allo)! Literally looked at each other like “it’s you and me against the world” before eating people left right and centre. Hope they’re doing ok.
Speaking of, I want to just gently hold the baby Carno. Even if it bites me. Dinosaur King taught me the Carnotaurus love!
I also want a Dimorphodon to sit on my arm like a parrot so we can also stare at strangers walking past like an old pirate in a tavern.
Alan triangulating around Beta with Owen and Maisie was great. You could see the respect he has for the creature, the fear he has for it, and the amazement that he’s helping control a Velociraptor all at the same time. Like, he’s seen the intelligence of these creatures and he’s seen them kill. He’s studied them and their habits. And now he has a measure of control over one. I just really liked that. This is just me as a Muldoon fan, but he could’ve slipped in a line like “Robert would be turning in his grave if he knew we were trying to save this thing” but hey it’s not too big of a deal.
I reckon, if they did want to confirm that kid from the first film was Owen, they could’ve done it in the same scene. When Alan was saying that they now know Raptors went straight for the throat instead of gutting, Owen could’ve said something about how he didn’t need to traumatise him with the raptor claw fossil when he was a kid. Would’ve put Owen in the Alan Grant Fanclub right next to Eric and Timmy, who he quotes - “I read your book” - and would explain how he got the job at Jurassic World in the first place. A tough navy guy who’s interest in Velociraptors means he knows stuff about them too. It just works.
I was kind of disappointed when Owen showed up and scared off those Dilos, kind of felt like “ok, there you go, years of wanting the dilophosaurus back and now you’ve had your scene. Shove off.” So I thought, hey, we’ve seen them again after all these years (not just a hologram), I am happy! Just hearing those little chirrups filled my heart right up. Shame they’ve only ever claimed Dennis. But I thought too soon! Very satisfying that the dinosaur that killed the guy he hired also came for him too. Just a shame we never saw a body or anything like that.
I’m actually surprised how happy I was to see Wu get a good ending. He was never a bad guy per se, but you did sort of think that if he died, he’d deserve it. Or I did, anyway. So to see how run down and exhausted he was, as well as how much he wanted to do something good with his work, it was really nice to see him fix one of his mistakes. That bit where he was celebrating in the end, throwing his hands up in excitement and relief? I was happy for him. Hope he got to retire somewhere nice and peaceful.
Can you believe this film cuts out TellTale’s Jurassic Park: The Game from being canon? Because I know Rexy crushed that can. Unless Dodgson hired someone to make an old Barbasol can look like it had been buried in mud, he must have recovered it when Jurassic World was being built. How he managed to sneak in and get it i don’t know. And why he’d go through the effort of recovering it when the embryos inside are useless. He’s sentimental I guess. I can understand that. Really added to his death scene.
I liked how it ended. There’s enough there to make another film if they wanted to, but also, it’s a really nice way to end it all. It all ties back to stuff talked about in the first film. I love it.
And one last thing before this whole thing is finally posted: it’s been 29 years since Jurassic Park was released. Despite being a couple in the first one, Alan and Ellie never kissed - cause, you know. They were stuck on an island with dinosaurs killing people all over the place, they didn’t have time to kiss (not looking at you Claire and Owen. People being attacked and killed by pterasaurs everywhere, not a good time to be making out). I think that’s why there’s a slew of people who are adamant Alan and Ellie were never a couple, somehow ignoring the whole “Ellie wants kids but Alan doesn’t” thing throughout the film. Strange running theme to have between two characters who are just friends right? Anyway, our hopes were dashed by Jurassic Park /// annoyingly following book canon. So thank you, Jurassic World: Dominion, for giving us that Alan x Ellie kiss we’ve been waiting for since 1993. And it happened when they were nice and safe away from dinosaurs. In the cinema I was in, someone literally said “it’s about time!” When she kissed him. Cause yeah, it was. Alan and Ellie are canon, y’all.
8/10 overall
Great film (in my opinion)

SPOILERS for Locke and Key season 3 episode 8 (final episode)
Ok, I'm done. Wow, feels weird, honestly. Can't believe it's actually over...
So, first up, Gordie and Sam. I knew it, I freaking knew it. Doesn't mean I wanted it to happen though. Gordie dying, actually giving his last breaths to make sure Kinsey, Tyler and Ellie would make it out alive... ouch. Even worse, he tried to stop Gideon from breaking free. He tried, knowing that he was gonna die, to create a literal mental block strong enough to withhold Gideon. He didn't know the echo's strength so he failed, tragically. I know he was really only important for one episode but I hoped he'd make it. And as for Sam... as mentioned in previous posts, I cared a shit ton for that guy and his involvement. He definitely deserved better that that. Although I know that it was meant as payment and "debt forgiveness". Still hate it.
Now, Gideon. Wow I hate that guy. Cheers to the actor though, I don't know his name, but the way he delivered, man, he made me angry. Real impressive acting. And super happy this dude is gone!
Rufus, Ellie, Jamie and Josh, you know I love you guys, you're great, please always stay the way you are. Love how things ended for them, eventhough I'm a little sad Josh is never gonna know the truth and Jamie will forget eventually.
Duncan and Brian deserve happiness more than anything. I love them.
Gald to know The Savinis managed to finish the film and that it was really such a big success! Good for them. I could've watched the Q&A for hours, no problems. Really surprised Scot showed up but yay! (Shave though, please. He looks so... mature. Old.) Cool line with the Good, Better and Excellent thing. And I'm happy Kinsey might join him soon <3 I would have liked to see Jordan again though, just for old times sake, yknow?
I'm glad Tyler has found his peace, or at least some kind of it. I'm still not a huge fan of the whole Carly-thing, but a road trip sounds great and if Tyler really likes Montana so much, that's amazing! I know he'll miss keyhouse and I think he's gonna come back a lot of times, as often as possible. Even without any event, just because he wants to.
I know Nina is gonna do fine. She has Josh and her Kids and Ellie. She'll be happy. Bode too. He found a best friend in Jamie and is working on being on good terms with Josh (which, BTW, amazing! Love how the made that little peace offering. I think these twos will have a great relationship and will become very close friends).
Now as for what actually happened... I do like that the keys are gone now. And I like how they chose to resolve everything. Throwing the keys in meaning closing the portals was brilliant and brings everything to a nice end. I loved the montage for it, showing bits and pieces of what the keys did and what the characters went through with them (not everything, not a lot or even the main points, just moments were it fit, nothing to sad or emotional, just... epic, in a very simple way). It was well done, that's all I have to say.
And for maybe the most important scene I can just say yes. Yes, wow, thank you. I honestly had a few tears forming when they saw Rendell again. The conversation with him brought me closer to crying than anything this season has and the hug at the end let the tears spill. It fit perfectly but was also so sad to just suddenly see them in the hallway again, still hugging, just without Rendell. It was good to have that last conversation, I think.
For now, that's all I have. It's literally 45 min till midnight and I want to sleep, but watching it was worth it. Feels like some weird sense of closure at the moment.

My Thoughts On The Last Of Us HBO TV Show Trailer
Tumblr media
So a couple of days ago, HBO and Naughty Dog had released a trailer for The Last Of Us, a show adaptation of the popular 2013 game of the same name.
The story of a world that is plunged into a zombie-like apocalypse 20 years after the first outbreak. One man, Joel Miller, is tasked with taking a young 14 year old girl, Ellie, to a group called the Fireflies as she is immune from the virus that would turn any human into a fungal monster. So Joel and Ellie go on a cross-country journey in America just to get her to the Fireflies so that they could make a "cure" and hopefully save the world.
Now, I love this game. It is my favorite game of all time. I love the world, the lore and the characters. Joel is my favorite character of all time. I loved the Left Behind DLC. The sequel however....
Tumblr media
Yeah, like with Bruno, we don't talk about that game lol.
Anyway, the reason I'm writing this post is that after watching the trailer a few times and thinking it over, I have some opinions on it.
It does look good and the environments look like it was plucked out of the game. The quick glimpse of the Clickers we've gotten looks really impressive and of course the famous clicking sounds they make is just as creepy as it is in the game.
I also loved the song they used for the trailer, Alone and Forsaken by Hank Williams, which is the song that is in the game and was also used for the first trailer of the game back in 2012.
I do think it is cool that the actress that plays Marlene in the game is gonna reprise her role in the show, so I know that will be done well.
However, here is where alot of people are probably gonna disagree with me, I do not like the casting for Joel and Ellie. I'm sorry, I do like Pedro Pascal, I think he is a good actor, he is great in the Mandalorian, he was the best part of Wonder Woman 1984 (which was a snooze fest and he was the only one that was entertaining), and I'm only half way through season 2 of Narcos and he is really good there.
But...I just don't see him as Joel. There were other actors, I think, would've been a better choice. My personal choice is Hugh Jackman, I think he would've knocked it out of the park and if you've see Logan, he already kinda looked like Joel. So much so, my brother and I used to joke that Logan is secretly a Last of Us movie.
Tumblr media
Some people, including my brother, said Nikolaj Coster-Waldau should've played Joel, and seeing pictures of this guy he does looks like Joel.
Tumblr media
Now I don't know anything about the girl that's playing Ellie, Bella I believe her name is, she's apparently in Game of Thrones and I never watched Game of Thrones. But, like with Pedro, I don't see her as Ellie.
Ellie is a hard character to figure out who would play her but lately, I think I found a good actress that would've been perfect for Ellie. And that is Sadie Sink, who plays Max in Stranger Things. She has the right attitude and spunk that Ellie has.
Tumblr media
Also the little first look we got a few weeks back, that was like 30 second long, and the little dialogue we hear from Pedro and Bella, which is the dialogue from Joel and Ellie's fight in the Fall section, from what I could hear, both of them sounded flat and emotionless compared to the scene in the game.
And I know this show is an adaptation and sometimes they won't get people to look exactly like the character, but you can get people to look similar enough that they are recognizable. Look at the MCU! Most of their actors look like the comic book characters and they have been great!
I am very mixed on the trailer and I guess I have some skepticism of it but I am gonna give the show a chance and watch it. I do hope the show proves me wrong and Pedro and Bella prove me wrong.
But we will see in 2023.

Sorry about this mini-rant but I'm getting so tired of seeing Oliver being the "bad guy". Sure, he does a nice guy role once on a blue moon, but everytime I've tried to get my friends into this gorgeous creature they make comments like: "his playing an arsehole partner AGAIN?!"
I didn't really realise that his been typecast (a lot) until they said it. You should've saw my face when I saw the first episode of Surface haha, I had no idea he would play another "dark" character! Then again, I didn't do my homework on that show.
I would quite like him to do a MCU movie—in that retrospect—just because we'll see a more light hearted side to him (like when filming Malcolm's List). IMAGINE A NON-PERIOD/DARK MOVIE STARRING OJC LASTING LONGER THAN 2 MINUTES! Even if he is eyeing up a villian role, they still aren't that serious in nature compared to his other works (everyone was pleasantly suprised with Jake Gyllenhaal in the Spider-Man movie). I know that not everyone likes those movies, and series', but they are really great for promotion and becoming a bigger star! It would be nice to see Oliver getting recognition (in that retrospect again).
Sorry about the rant, I'm sitting here watching The Lost Daughter again and wondering why the f*ck movies and shows would waste his FULL potential.
hello, so i actually have 5 other inboxes from people about the oliver/mcu discussion that i want to round up in a single post because i realise people have very strong opinions on this and i kind of don't want to clog up everyone's feeds with post after post of me blogging my thoughts about oliver jackson-cohen and superhero movies : )
i get a fair amount of "why does oliver always play an asshole" messages. i don't mind them don't get me wrong! and it's validating to hear that other people want to see more of oliver tbh. i would also love to see him in a leading role playing someone who isn't, to quote oliver, "a toxic piece of shit." like most ollie fans, i would in fact love to see him in any leading role, period.
the good news is that several major reviews for mr. malcolm's list called his performance "a revelation" and said they hoped he'd do more comedy. and he does play the romantic lead in emily which comes out in a few weeks and has very good early buzz. depending on how well its reception is in a couple of weeks at the toronto international film festival premiere, it could even start to get oscar buzz. so even though he is apparently playing yet another toxic partner in wilderness, who knows what the future holds once people see more of his very broad range.
having said that, i think it's important to note that oliver himself does not seem unhappy about or disinterested in "asshole" roles per se. he has said repeatedly that he's picky about his projects, and has found all of his roles that were post-emerald city/the healer personally interesting as an actor/artist because they allow him to explore themes of trauma, identity, power, and toxic masculinity from a variety of angles and intersections - and of course that is okay!
he has also said in recent interviews that he actually doesn't agree that adrian griffin, peter quint, toni in the lost daughter and james ellis in surface are one kind of character. they are all very different people with different backgrounds and motives.
it's also luke crain and michael berryman erasure and those are probably the 2 things he's most known for aside from adrian! : )
finally, of course i also wish there had been more of oliver in the lost daughter but it was a story where the male characters were deliberately in the background/supporting roles in order to centre the female narratives within the film. however, while oliver's role was a hostile thug, he recently said that he originally tried out for the role of jessie buckley's character's husband. . . talk about having dodged the toxic husband bullet!

mischief members cast in starkid shows part 1: me and my d*ck
hello hello, welcome to me casting the members of mischief comedy into musicals by team starkid. aka my two interests rolled into one. i'm doing all of the starkid shows except avpm (because i found it too hard) and ani (bc i feel like i don't know enough about star wars). which means the first show is me and my d*ck.
a couple of notes that will apply to the whole series:
i didn't cast based on vocals because i don't know enough about singing to do that. purely based on acting and characterisation.
i've only cast using people i have personally seen (aka anyone from tgws and mmni). people i am more familiar with will obviously be cast more bc i understand them as actors better.
my reasoning ranges from "detailed list of characters they've played in mmni that have the same type of characterisation" to "idk vibes". enjoy that.
with that, let's go:
joey richter: dave hearn
i think he'd be very good at it, at times joey really gives max vibes so that works. he could pull off the awkwardness with vanessa and then the romantic bits with sally, and the combo of him and dick (below) would be chaotic and brilliant.
dick: matt cavendish
listen. LISTEN. it would be hilarious. his portrayal would definitely be different to joe's, but i don't think that's a bad thing. as i said, the chaotic vibes he and dave have when they perform together in mmni fits really well for this show.
sally: susan harrison
i think she could really pull off the sweetness and dorkiness. her and dave haven't played anything romantic before, but they have a good stage dynamic and i think it could work quite well.
miss cooter: lauren shearing
no explanation just vibes
vanessa: bryony corrigan
no it's not because of her tgws character. i just think she works really well with the part. she has a great dynamic with dave as well, so it just felt like the natural choice.
tiffany: charlie russell
good dynamic with bry, good dynamic with sue, and i think she could nail the vibes.
the old snatch: henry lewis
do i need to explain??? it just feels so right. especially when you factor in flopsy. he also has the right dynamic with charlie.
flopsy: henry shields
do i need to explain (part 2)??? him and hen as flopsy and the old snatch is a combo made in heaven. also good dynamic with bry.
joey's heart: greg tannahill
"listen to your heart" has "we are the ensemble" vibes ngl. idk i just really think he has the right energy for the part.
big t: joshua elliott
reminds me of panda gary from good guys finish last, but also the way he has a bit of a redemption made me of samantha from ipswich it up or jimbo jumbo from fraud of the blings. i just think he makes a good villain.
weenie: ellie morris
quite literally six from wild feast. like that's it that's the character.
sally's heart / high council pussy: rhyanna alexander-davis
she'd be great all round, but especially in the ice-cream scene (my memory of mamd is fuzzy but you know the bit i'm talking about). also they haven't interacted before, but i think she and greg would have a fun dynamic.
rick / the kid that hates joey: harry kershaw
an iconic role for an iconic man.
rick's dick: jonathan sayer
it makes me think of dennis in a trial to watch for some reason... like i just think it'd be great. especially him interacting with shields as flopsy.

Andrew Scott wisely dips after penis question on red carpet
Tumblr media
A reporter for the BBC has been roasted online for a cringeworthy moment with out actor Andrew Scott on the red carpet of the BAFTA Awards.
The winners of the UK’s top movie awards were announced this morning (AEST). Gay fantasy romance drama All Of Us Strangers scored six nominations, though the film sadly didn’t win any.
Irish actor Andrew Scott is the lead of the film and was outrageously snubbed for a BAFTA for his work. (Castmates Paul Mescal and Claire Foy were nominated.)
On the red carpet, Andrew stopped for a chat with a BBC reporter, who asked the out actor questions about fellow Irish star Barry Keoghan’s nude scene in Saltburn instead of Andrew’s own film.
“Do you know Barry well?” the reporter asked him, with Andrew replying that he does.
“Your reaction when you first saw the naked dance scene at the end of Saltburn?” he then asks, as the actor sighs.
“I won’t spoil it for anybody … it was great, it was great,” Scott replied.
The reporter then asks, “There was a lot of talk about prosthetics, so how well do you know him?”
Andrew then dismisses the question and turns to walk away from the interview.
“Too much? Too much?” the reporter called after him.
The cringeworthy exchange went viral online and didn’t go down well.
This is frankly disgusting. Andrew Scott is there to support his multiple nominated film and THIS is what you ask? Then when he looks visibly uncomfortable the guy carried on. Truly horrid. #BAFTAs pic.twitter.com/42VEoBXRQi

Only a matter of weeks since Andrew Scott spoke out about this too 😬🤦 pic.twitter.com/Rx5Yvwz026 https://t.co/LYxL0H7wTS
— Josh Barton (@bartonreviews) February 18, 2024
I think I’ve just cringed into another dimension. Andrew Scott must have the patience of a saint to not tell this bloke to fuck off because that is an absolute shocker of a question to ask pic.twitter.com/gyyq2xMvfV

EVIL DEAD RISE IS ON MAX
FUCK YEH LETS DO THIS
Nice fake-out with the drone, I think this is the first time the demon movement was paired with the movement of a real object.
Why the fuck did these guys rent the burning building from Midsommar? Or the cult church in Mandy? Perfectly triangular buildings are super sus now.
Ooooh we got ourselves an OG cabin clock.
Are they just jumping right into it? No build up? Just deadites from the start? I guess I would take anything over stupid family drama.
Uh.... well, that just happened. A scalping 5 minutes in.
I guess this isnt the first time there was a cold open featuring a possession and a bunch of gore. I guess my face blindness made it so I didnt realize that none of the actors I saw were in the trailers.
Okay, we got a rocker chick who I mistook for Mia for a sec who I guess is pregnant? Interesting so far.
How old is this lady that he has several kids? She doesnt look that much older than her older daughter.
"Hey Bridget, Moms on nights so we're watching all the Freddy movies in a row."
"Even the shitty ones."
"There arent any shitty ones."
Excuse me, did we watch the same Dream Master? Dream Child? Freddy's Dead? I love Freddy but he has as many bad movies as he does good.
I like this strange small child with her baby head battering ram.
Oooh, is mom using overtone on her hair? Her hair looks like mine when I used to dye it. When I could afford to dye it. (I got a better paying job so I can start to do that again!!!)
So Beth is forever young mom's sister, interesting.
Staffanie is fucking awesome.
Oooof... Ellie, did you send a text or an email? Two calls and a voice mail are easily forgotten when someone is super busy on the road.
Also, Beth, listen to your sisters voicemail when she leaves one. Call without voicemail is a chat, call with voicemail is important.
Wait, what was this bank built on top of? Or did Mia deposit the Necronomicon into a bank vault to keep it safe?
Are people in movies just not scared of the dark? Of bugs? Of-
JESUS CHRIST JESUS CHRIST
DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING THAT WAS STASHED IN A GRAVE. ITS CURSED AF. I DONT EVEN BELIEVE IN CURSES OR GHOSTS AND EVEN I WOULDNT TOUCH IT. AND NOT EVEN BECAUSE ITS DIRTY AS HELL.
That pizza was still good to eat, just a little smooshed.
"Weird shit like this gets locked away for a reason." Bridget is smart. Bridget should throw that book out the window right now.
The Necronomicon, now featuring a tooth/claw lock with a blood release. Not seen that before.
ONE OF THREE. THREE.
Is this actor on the vinyl trying to imitate Dr Knowby from Evil Dead 2? Like obviously hes not the same guy but the way hes talking.
Oh no, haunted turntable. You see, that's why CDs and MP3s are the superior formats.
NOPE NOPE NO ELEVATOR HORROR FOR ME. PLEASE NO IM STILL WORKING THROUGH MY PHOBIA.
Well great, you just had to take the book and vinyls and now your mom is haunted.
No tree roots available? Ropes and cables will make a good substitute! Cant do an evil dead movie without a little bondage.
Eeew, how many fertilized eggs did you get in your dozen? Where did you get them?
Sorry kids, your mom is a tweaker now.
You think the elevator is going to work in a blackout?
Um... I would be worried if a 'dead bodys' eyes reopened. I know there can be post-mortem spasms but the eyes perfectly reopening and nothing else moving is very strange-
FUCK I SCARED MYSELF. I have my tablet next to me and I saw movement in the screen reflection and I almost jumped out of my skin. It was my hand moving to set down my glass of water.
Hm... this feels like a new ploy for the deaddites. Play dead for a while and then reanimate in the creepiest way possible? I like it.
This is when you jump down the broken stairs and run for your lives. Hell, most elevators have little ladders in the shafts to climb up and down. Fuck it, take the cable and rappel down, just get the fuck away from the possessed tweaker with a glass shard.
Do not kiss a freshly made tattoo. That is very unsanitary.
Wasnt an eye popping out and going into someones mouth in Evil Dead 2? Like, wasnt it Henrietta and Bobby Joe?
El is doing a poor impression of Annie from Hereditary. You need to smash your face against the door way faster than that.
Sorry neighbors, but its every man for themselves now. Not even a gun can save you now.
Yeah Danny, you see cursed shit, you leave it ALONE. I love antiques and mysterious vinyls as much as the next antique enthusiast, but that book was CLEARLY fucked up.
Little girl whose name I forget, grab Staffanie, you're gonna need her.
Oh no, Bridget's face is haunted. We gotta cut it off. Should we do it Mason Verger or Nick Cage style?
It might be easier to convince your daughter to leave the apartment if you move the dead armless boy from view.
Oh Kassie... I cant be too mad. At your age I would have done the same thing. I remember getting scared when I saw my mom walk into a wall and faceplate on the ground. I would have done anything in that moment to believe she was okay (she was, she was super sleepy when she hit the wall and the fall dazed her. She only had a few bruises after)
Bridget, you are not Phoenix Wright! You cannot eat glass and not expect serious internal injuries! And you are not Rohan Kumakura, so put that cheese grater down!
Oh no Bridget... I'm so sorry they couldnt save you before you got impaled. And I'm sorry Kassie that you had to do that to your sister. This being a family and not a group of mostly unrelated friends is making this a lot harder.
Danny with the good ideas now. Where were your good ideas when you climbed into the bank vault?
Chekhov's soldering iron coming in clutch.
IF YOU KNEW THAT THE WORDS WERE CURSED, WHY DIDNT YOU DESTROY THE VINYL THAT HAD THEN RECORDED??? YOU CAN'T DESTROY THE NECRONOMICON BUT YOU CAN DESTROY YOUR RECORDING OF THE WORDS.
The mom is too big to fit inside the vents... is the armless kid in there wiggling around?
IF YOU ARE TYING UP A CORPSE YOU THINK IS GOING TO RISE AGAIN, TIE THEM UP SUPER TIGHT!!! Also Beth, keep one ear open in case the kids need you.
Oh, I guess mom is thin enough to fit in the vents.
Is the mom making a Lilo and Stitch reference? Putting her nail in the vinyl and making the noise come out her mouth?
They are killing a lot of kids in this movie. Barring any deaths from the TV Show, which I abandoned after a while, I don't think they've killed kids before. I'm assuming Bridget is under 18.
I guess this Book works differently than the one in the last movie. 6 kills and no rain of blood yet.
DEAD BY DAWN. DEAD DAWN. DEAD BY DAWN
Kids... what are you doing to your mom? Why are you putting your hands in there?
So this is what the elevators in the Overlook Hotel look like from the inside. And of course this built up to a clear Shining reference.
It didnt rain blood, it flooded blood.
Oooh! Theres a truck with a wood chipper attached to it in the garage! The deaddites can't possess a body that's a pile of mush!
I'm going to see that thing in my nightmares. Holy fuck, what were the designers got this movie thinking when they made this monstrosity? Like, I'm legit scared to look at it right now. I'm trying to not look directly at the screen but I also don't want to miss anything.
Kassie will not become your Saffanie! You don't need one!
You must choose your destiny, the chainsaw, or the boomstick?
You know, I was criticizing Beth for wearing her shoes inside the apartment, but they helped keep the chipper from hurting her.
I can't even begin to imagine all the therapy that Kassie is going to need once this is all done. She will never be able to be around wood chippers again. Or chainsaws. Or elevators. Or look through a peep hole.
That garage MUST smell awful. Theres blood EVERYWHERE. Before I was on birth control I had super heavy periods and the bathroom would reek of blood during my heavy days. That's a tiny drop compared to the ocean of blood in that garage. How did that lady not IMMEDIATELY smell it? (Unless shes like my old boss and lost her sense of smell)
I see... the cold open is a result of these events. The Mandy Midsommar temple cottage wasn't demonic, just the girl who can't smell.
LEE CRONIN WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. YOU TOOK AN ALREADY PANTS SHITTINGLY SCARY REMAKE AND MAKE IT SHIT PANTS HARDER
Good job

castle lmao giant green lizard rewrite the book sfkjdhk dad, alexis is talking to you! castle she is a young woman she is making this decision oh, paris he loves her she has nightmares still? Oof, I'm glad that she still has trauma RC: No. But it sounds like someone has. BRO
greets ppl <3 Sito is great bc that is actually where his name is emphasized.
RC: Hey ‘sito. JE: Hey. RC: Where’s Beckett? JE: How the hell should I know? ((I love him)) Aren’t you two practically living together now? RC: Ah, well, she left me alone for a couple of days so I could finish Deadly Heat, which, by the way, is both deadly and hot, thank you very much for asking. JE: I didn’t. ((completely disinterested)) RC: Right. so like is she on call but only just got off the plane? (could clip the zito interaction ig)
hate the siren audio
Love em all in sunglasses which makes sense for actors bc hats would shade their faces too much but I love my hat on sunny days.
smoke on the roof lmao crystal sky? Hippie name. esposito my beloved "gonzalez every once in a while"
My man knows she had smth going on with her dad? they spoke? ah yes prostitute ofc.
Yeah if she was killed you DO need to know the truth
the most sus part of this is how the landlord actually heeded the tenants & their complaints abt bloody water place like this has a security cam in the elevator that actually WORKS?
Ooh I want to busk my way over europe
would she have told you? well she DID stay in a plave like that bro
RC: Straight A student, no history of trouble, on a dream European vacation, turns into a hooker in a ratty hotel. There is no way I’m letting Alexis go to Costa Rica now.
are you talking about yourself becks?
remember that case with the prof who took a hundred crappy jobs for a book he was writing & becks said "we need his manuscript" & the publisher was like "ain't got one"? yeah reminding me of that.
GIRL TELL HIM
Remember s1e2? elevator times? Wrong floor? THIS REALLY IS LIKE THE GIRL IN THE WATER TANK PLAYING THE ELEVATOR GAME Stairs? & did the 80yo come back down? whipsers "it's expensive" nobody coming into her room yet she had those sounds? Cam girl?
Well could the water have washed it away? LP: Water has a great way of washing away things like trace DNA. Also dr parish a bit earlier: If she was a prostitute, she wasn’t very good at it. there’s no evidence of sexual activity.
Well he could still be doing illegal stuff even if he didn't murder "but of course I wasn't spying on her all night every night" is what I would say
laptop comp sci esposito's hair is nice I like & ryan's outfit is great wait is this going to be a plot episode with the senator & all this stuff
these two same brain uwu. Also beckett totally used to be "wow who knew I should look for evidence when I could make things up" but now she is same braining with castle & looks for evidence to support or disprove the story. & rysposito are watching caskett finish each others sentences fdkjskldjl
"she's all yours" XD
is she in trouble? for not telling your boss you are leaving? "you were supposed to be on call" Gates knows that people deserve to move on & turnover rate is real *flashforward to her hating the job in s6* don't say kill for it! You're a homicide cop! gates is so proud of beckett
Lanie my beloved also what is in her mug? She doesn't drink coffee calls it twelve-midnight
beckett pronounce your Ts depends on the opportunity! Castle & everyone else in your life! You can always decline the job say "moi" & kiss him thru the phone!!
rysposito great outfits, ellis great character really? Which ones SHUUP
BRINGS HER COFFEE DOESN'T EVEN MENTION IT JUST GIVES HER THE COFFEE I like castle in this more red outfit, beckett looks amazing. Ryan I already mentioned but again hhhh he's so good RC: which is why you need me KB: *considering leaving*
clipping the "thank you?"
my partner mitch bauer, nice, & noce how she asks him to double check for her. MB: Is she in custody? RC: Sort of. She's dead.
The way their faces look
most of them or all of them lol
RC: So without it we’re dead in the water. Much like Erika. RC+JE: Too soon
RYAN IS SO SMART-- I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT, ABOUT WHERE THE CALL CAME FROM three? I thouhgt you said ONE of them popped but now u have three?
he dead the way they open the door too forcefully & ryan needs to push it open man's got a nice place tho hanging from an extrnsion cord. I like how at least this time the body is above them instead of on the ground, it gives variety to murder positions *taps ryan on the shoulder like that* like bro?? what was that? Also ryan's black suit jacket with the red squares is incredible & I love it sm
Every time, they see two lines & say not suicide but homicide ooh technically first! Why does it say ian blayock & anonymous user? I'd say "you" if Iwere a chat system KB: So this was sent by whoever killed him. He lured her out.
Esposito sittong on someone's desk way far from caskett rly the lawyer guy was doing drugs?
Most people say they would never drive drunk but then when they are tipsy they say "I'm only a little bit drunk, it won't be so bad I'll be careful" & being intoxicated, it limits their inhibitions & walls & drunk ppl always do stupid things like idk dancing on tables. Driving is just another stupid thing that you would not do while sober but you might while drunk. why didn't ryan say in the first place "friend from high school who interned but died a year later" why did he wait until beckett asked him? Ah driving in heels tho? Tru.
RC: A single car accident with no witnesses? Guys, this is a classic conspiracy cover up. Though only a lowly intern, Pam stumbles on to something the firm is doing, something big. Nefarious. She has to be silenced, only after the accident Blaylock can’t take the guilt. Or admit the truth. So his only bastion is to escape the sweet oblivion of drugs.
& I've mentioned this a million times I like ryan's vest & coat & outfit & how he has the fancy of the vest but the chill of going tie-less but also the jacket & vest MATCH I'm hiding that laptop!
Esposito looking at these two & their samebrain moment with not his "heheh these two" face but not an "ew gross these two" face it's more,,, suspicious.
INT – RESIDENTIAL HOTEL BOILER ROOM *KR pops up from the floor. It’s dark and they’re using flashlights to search the room.* KR: Man. This was Castle’s theory. How did we draw the short straw? JE: I don’t know. JE: Let me ask you something. *Turns off flashlight* You notice anything weird about Beckett? KR: What do you mean? *JE jumps on a heater unit to get closer to the ceiling* JE: Well, she’s- she’s different. *KR looks up at him* Something’s off. KR: What are you saying? Like she’s --pregnant? JE: !!?!!?!! ((love the music)) JE: What are you talking about? Where did that even come from? ((from YOU suggesting smth & ryan was wondering what you were implying. He thought you already had a theory)) KR: Well, you said she was acting different. They’re consenting adults–.. ((I mean yeah accidents happen, & non-accidents)) JE: (adamantly) Beckett is not pregnant. C’mon, man. *He goes back to running his hands along the top of the ductwork, which uses actual duct tape which is like sticky aluminum foil NOT DUCK TAPE WHICH IS BAD FOR DUCTS & NOT MEANT TO BE USED ON DUCTS* KR: What’s so wrong with being pregnant? JE: You know, I can’t even talk to you about this right now. ((about what? pregnancy? or beckett? also oh no dominoes u just got a fic idea)) KR: Okay. Well, um … try to get over it before Jenny tells you the news, okay? ((you haven't told him yet?)) *That surprises JE. KR grins.* JE: What? KR: *grins wider* JE: Are you serious? Wowwww! Congratulations, man. That’s great! KR: Thanks, brother. *There’s suddenly a happiness to their work.*
Gosh I went to write a crackfic but then got food, ate food, danced around a bit, listened to music, & scrolled on tumblr until I got to the end of my dash Which I Never Do anymore these days. & ofc wrote the crackfic. holy crap. it is now 15.00. I could have watched two castle episodes in this time if I was better at this! & if I woke up at 9 instead of 12 I would have been able to watch four! Except that I wanted to clip everything I needed to clip today.
Speaking of which, I'll clip that & then finish the ep.
Ooh they are at beckett's home oh he found the boarding pass & you didn't tell me? *implies he is upset* & then if I were him I'd say "I'm so proud of you! Let's open up the wine!" Except it is now a fight. Bro she chose not to bc y'all haven't had that talk. She didn't want to tell you bc if she didn't get the job then she wouldn't have to but then that is still hiding things in a relationship which is sus...
castle is probably going to talk to his mom
Wow s2 esposito outfit right there. Brings me back to the first time I opened up the dvd set with my family & binge watched some good content with em. "yep" she says & throws down her coat so angrily he cares abt her, he follows her to the break room, he loves her. I could clip this but I won't. I love especkett's relationship. They are so great. If caskett wasn't my otp, I'd totally ship these two. In fact I do, I just still have caskett as my otp. You know, I totally think especkett had something going on back before the series started. Even "esposito" & "ryan" said it themselves while they were "reviewing hidden camera footage" of the 2 cool for school case.
last summer? the intern? ryan weird outfit tbh, looks a little bit s3 vibes
the third? well it COULD have been fine to get into a car crash but then he staged it & now it is REALLY bad.
KR: Hey. What’s going on? Where’s Castle? JE: Don’t ask.
lawyer lady grabs a pen his face falls she looks like she knows what is going on
"& we're not in court" XD
Martha is right So Have The Talk
MR: I know you. You do not hold back. Except this thing with Katherine. It took you what, three years to tell her how you felt, another year to act on it, and now, at the first sign of trouble, you’re ready to run. Why?
ryan's hair is so short I dislike He'd get a close friend or trusted associate to hire someone
give her time to think maybe...?
she doesn't tell esposito where she is going, she doesn't tell him what her fight with castle was about, but she doesn't even tell ryan she is leaving or that there was a fight, poor esposito being left in the dark but poorer ryan
Is she at the airport rn? No way. Oh meeting her dad <3 <3 I love jim someone had better have this clip on youtube, probably that person who has all the other clips so talk You have been together for a year ish now, he took three years to tell her, another year until they got together
This job is what I want but I am afraid of losing him. Not: he is what I want but I'm afraid, unsure where I will go, so I will hide in work
CASTLE IS LETTING HER GO. HE IS... SOMETHING, SOMETHING IS HAPPENING
how they really are hhhh this was insane
this room is too dark for the mirror to be functioning she is feeling nostalgic she's saying goodbye to the room, no longer leveraging it or that, maybe she is using it KB: So the question is, how many years of your own life are you going to sacrifice for someone else’s future?
Ooh nameplates for naming characters who are unnamed! detective turner sits across from det esposito, then Ryan is back-to-back with esposito, (& the coffee on his desk is the right mug, set design my beloved) couple uniformed officers chatting, rysposito walking up to her, first names they love her, they are concerned for her, (highkey s3 rysposito outfits)
caller ID much?
THE PARK THE PARK THE SWINGSET AT THE PARK he has a nice nose but I am getting in I am finding my way in because I love you. fshdfkjsdhfjshlakfjdshfjkh I know what's going to happen but I wish I was able to have seen this episode not knowing that they were going to get engaged or married.
houghton? srs? (that ring is huge & expensive af & seems like smth beckett would wear nowadays or even on outings in s1 but she is a cop, get her a ring with an inset gem not in a prong. Smth she can actually wear. Also, with her complexion u def need gold (or warm colours) not silver (or cool colours). Maybe s2-s3 beckett could have had silver.
Ok time to clip bonus features babes! it is 15.45! Totally not late lmao!
Maybe I can watch audio commentaries while prepping veg for supper or smth...

mid-year book freak out tag
thank you @bloody-wonder for giving me an excuse to share my book thoughts!
1. Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2021?
It’s gotta be The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood; I hear “feminist period novel about mentally ill woman unable to cope in upper-class society” and I am THERE! It’s like [Stefon voice] This book has EVERYTHING: repressed women, a decaying old house, a complex relationship of two sisters, a pulpy sci-fi story-within-a-story-within-a-story, criticism of capitalism and reactionary attitudes and politics, commentary on how conservative society shuns those it perceives to be “other” and a threat to the social order (poor people, socialists, “unconventional” women). It is EXTREMELY my shit.
2. Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2021?
The only one I've read is Siege and Storm, so Siege and Storm! Shadow and Bone was captivating, if a little simplistic, but the sequel really fleshes out the characters, setting, and themes. It’s great to see Alina take a more active role, and I love the exploration of sainthood.
3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To?
I’m really curious about Michelle Zauner’s memoir Crying in H Mart. Same with Axiom’s End, which I haven’t really been seeking out, but it’s been resting on my list since I like a lot of Lindsay Ellis’ stuff.
4. Most Anticipated Release For Second Half of 2021?
5. Biggest Disappointment?
The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. I’ve been getting into Atwood, and I have a soft spot for female-centric retellings of myths, so this was on my list for a long time. It’s not bad; it’s decent as a character study and offers some good perspective on the hanged slave women from The Odyssey, but overall it came off as...bitter? And not in a good way. It’s reasonable to include commentary on how bad things were for women in ancient times, but after a while I’m just like “But there had to be a time when Penelope was happy, right?” But the biggest failing has to be the treatment of Helen. Why a story focused on bringing literary justice to silenced women also characterizes Helen of Troy as a manipulative, arrogant bitch who single-handedly ignited the Trojan War because she enjoys fucking people over, I’ll never know. Ironic that in the opening chapter, Penelope bemoans being used as a yardstick with which to judge other women, and then the book proceeds to do exactly that with her and Helen. Can’t let Penelope have a positive relationship with another woman! There could be some form of unreliable narrator at play, but there’s not much indication that that’s the case here. Even Homer had a more nuanced portrayal of Helen than this!
6. Biggest Surprise?
I suppose The Red Tent. I picked it up at a Goodwill because of my aforementioned interest in female-centric retellings. It’s not amazing, but I wasn’t really expecting it to emotionally affect me like it did. You spend so much time setting up Dinah’s family and this supportive community of woman within a patriarchal society, only to have Dinah abandon it all after getting betrayed by her father and (most of) her brothers. Hearing about how her family fell apart after she left and she never got to see her mothers again really gets to me. The book has flaws for sure - neither of Dinah’s romances are developed very well, and some of its themes can come off as gender essentialist - but I think it’s a nice exploration of female labor and traditions that too often get ignored.
7. Favorite New Author?
The only relatively new author I’ve been reading is Leigh Bardugo, soooooo... honestly I don’t know what I can say that hasn’t already been said, I got into the series pretty late. Great world-building, witty dialogue, a familiar type of story with enough interesting ideas to make it feel fresh. Check out Shadow and Bone if you get the chance. Sound of the summer.
8. Newest Fictional Crush?
You would think it would be Nikolai Lantsov since I just finished reading Siege and Storm and he seems to be the fan favorite... but nah, not yet. He’s fun, but he doesn’t hit me in that way (Though very sexy of him to just casually proposition Alina and Mal for a royal polycule, a la Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot; would love an AU where they accept his offer). However, I would let Zoya murder me. Every time Zoya is not in a scene I am asking “Where’s Zoya?” Also shout out to Alina, just because I would treat her better than all the men in her life!
9. Newest Favorite Character?
Gonna try to do this without spoiling too much, but Laura Chase in The Blind Assassin really resonated with me. Her personality reminds me a lot of myself, especially as an an autistic person, like the way she has her own way of thinking that makes perfect sense to her, but makes other people see her as odd and naive. I love how she’s set up in-universe as this Sylvia Plath-esque tragic heroine, with Iris spending the rest of the book interrogating and deconstructing, and in a way, reconstructing this image of her. Atwood you’re insane for this. I forgive you for the Helen thing now.
10. Book That Made You Cry?
I never got as far as crying, but the part in The Goldfinch where [spoilers incoming] the art heist goes wrong and Theo is alone in the hotel room and he’s spiraling and considering suicide and finally dreams of his mom… all that was too much for me and I had to put the book down for the night. This guy just can’t catch a fucking break.
11. Book That Made You Happy?
fucidjdjdj I didn’t read any happy books this year. Shadow and Bone and Siege and Storm because I read them really fast unlike my usual months-long reading schedule.
12. Favorite Book Adaptation You Saw?
Predictably, Shadow and Bone. I basically bought and read the book less than a week before the show came out because I thought it looked interesting and wanted in on the hype (mostly because Jessie is cute 🥰). Honestly, the show improves a lot on the first book; the multiple storylines make it more dynamic and complex, the actors really help to make the characters feel more fleshed out, and Alina and Inej interacted for like three scenes, introducing an unexpected but thematically rich ship.
13. Favorite Review You’ve Written This Year?
14. Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far This Year?
I impulse-bought this book of Romantic poetry at Barnes and Noble just because it was pretty and I had a gift card
Tumblr media
15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End Of The Year?
Besides finishing The Grisha Trilogy/Six of Crows duology/Zoya’s duology that I forgot the name of….I don’t know. I’m not a reader that plans in advance. I acquire books, finish whatever I’m currently reading, look through my stacks deciding what to read next, spend an hour doing so because I can’t decide if I’m in the mood for any of them, and either force myself to read one or buy/borrow a new one.
I’m tagging @betweenironyandsilver, @illuminaticns, @borispavlikovskys, @chdarling, @sctine, @mightyaubs, @excuseforadrink, and @trckstergods, if you wanna! Or anyone who wants to yell about books.

Finished Castlevania: the Netflix Season 3! Here’s some Season 3 specific observations:
I had heard that Season 3 was considered the weakest of the three seasons, and expressed nervousness because it was even longer than Season 2, which I felt was just a touch too long. Upon completion, I’d agree that this is definitely the weakest of the three, but only by a matter of degrees. I was actually more positive on the whole thing until the last two episodes, at which point you start to get into a lot of sudden and arbitrary misery for misery’s sake, which I think the series was pretty good about avoiding up until this point. I should specify that the length wasn’t the issue- even with the extra episodes Season 3 was overall better paced than Season 2- it was just the content of those last two episodes.
I knew through cultural osmosis that Alucard was going to be betrayed by the siblings, so I kept looking for signs, and... there really weren’t any. Except for constantly asking how to move the castle and expressing interest in parts of the castle they hadn’t seen, there were no signs of discontent. Nothing like flinching from gentle touches that they interpreted as incoming abuse, or having to restrain themselves from outbursts of anger over perceived slights, or a lack of interest in the Belmont Hold because all they wanted was to use the castle to enact revenge on everyone who wronged them. Even when talking privately, they came across as totally genuine- there was no doublespeak that was like “ah, you interpreted what they were saying this way but this was what they actually meant” unless you REALLY stretch how hard they leaned on “reward”.
Speaking of the siblings, my first thought upon seeing them was “why is the twink cuter than his sister?”, so imagine my surprise when the sex starts and the twink is suddenly built like a brick shithouse and the sister has some big ol’ honka donka badonkers.
I enjoyed Isaac’s Philosophy Quest, but I don’t actually have a whole lot to say about it, other than the way they managed to use Legion- a Castlevania monster I was sure would not show up in this series- was incredibly cool. Besides that, it was the part that made this season feel like a filler arc the most, because the whole point was to set up for the clash between Isaac and Carmilla’s armies next season.
Right up until the very last bit of it, I would have said that Trevor and Sypha’s story my favorite part of the whole season, because you could isolate it from the other three stories and it would be able to stand on its own no problem. But if the point of everything was ultimately to drag Sypha back down to Earth and make her realize that fighting the forces of hell is not going to exclusively be a Good Time, the complete and total destruction of the town would’ve been enough. Revealing that the Judge was actually a serial killer operating right under their noses was the most “arbitrary misery for misery’s sake” thing in the whole season and the little bit of an extra knife twist it provides was not worth souring the whole thing.
As such, to my great surprise, my favorite story of the season wound up being Hector and Lenore. I mentioned previously that I really don’t like Hector, because in a series chock full of all flavors of genius, he’s a pretty normal guy, which makes him look really stupid by comparison. That still stands, but Lenore actually carries it because she’s a good parallel for Hector with her own interest in “pets” and how that manifests. Actually, Lenore, Striga, and Morana carry it, which also reminds me that Carmilla feels really ancillary to the coven, which is odd considering what an overwhelming presence she was in Season 2.
Also, Lenore enslaving Hector with the ring is the least of the miserable twist endings. From the moment she beats the dogshit out of him for attempting to take her hostage, it’s abundantly clear that Lenore is just as capable as any of her sister and has an angle in mind. As it turns out, she’s just explicitly honest about what her angle is: she wants a loyal army of night creatures for Carmilla’s plan, and in return she’s giving Hector the things he seems to want (but not what he will inevitably realize he wants the most: freedom). It would’ve been so easy to just have her go “teehee, this was all just a work to get you to wear the slave ring, now you go back in the cell, naked, and also your peepee small”, which would’ve been in line with the twins’ betrayal and the Judge’s reveal, so I do appreciate that restraint.
The colorful and diverse range of voice acting performances in this season really make me wish Richard Armitage and James Callis hadn’t gotten instruction to mumble-grumble their deliveries. It was noticeable in prior seasons in the company of Alejandra Reynoso, who is my Big Favorite, but it’s even worse when surrounded by so many more interesting and, more importantly, clear voices.
I just looked this up and was stunned to find out that Prior Sala’s voice actor, Navid Negahban, also voiced the shopkeeper who gave Isaac the mirror. That’s a crazy impressive range!
I am once again thankful that this series has turned out to be as good as it’s been, because in addition to The Troubles with Warren Ellis, I read that a lawsuit was just filed by producer Adi Shankar against fellow producer Kevin Kolde over Shankar being excluded from the Rondo of Blood spin-off. Shankar not being involved isn’t necessarily a bad sign in and of itself, but it just feels like a bad omen, especially if the lawsuit winds up wrapping up the spin-off in red tape.
