In My Time of Dying
-Dean looks like he’s witnessing a miracle when he first sees at Sam at the hospital.
Tumblr media
-Sam can hear and/or sense Dean at least three times while Dean’s unconscious. He’s the only one. He can’t do this with anyone else at any point. Further evidence their connection is metaphysical.
-Dean references Ghost, a movie about a woman and the ghost of her lover. 👀
-Sam is appalled that John can think of anything but Dean when Dean might die, but Sam was ready to blow right past the possibility of saving John in order to get revenge last episode. One thing about Sam is that he really loves Dean more than anyone else and he won’t say it, but it comes out at times like these. I think Sam would feel pathetic if he actually said it.
-Sam is unwilling to entertain the idea of Dean dying. He sees the car and says that when he gets better he’s gonna want to fix it, and Sam knows his brother because he’s absolutely right.
Tumblr media
He won’t let Bobby scrap Dean’s car, which is a metaphor for Dean’s life. Sam is ready to accept whatever condition Dean wakes up in. It’s also cute that Sam sees the impala as Dean’s, not John’s. It makes me wonder how many drives Dean took Sam on when they were younger, if Dean often snuck him away for little hang-outs like the fireworks. If they started lying on the hood looking at the stars when they were teenagers.
-That moment Sam says “felt like Dean” is this moment in the hallway outside of Dean’s hospital room
Tumblr media
so what Sam is feeling as Dean is this reassuring, caretaking, determined presence promising not to leave him and promising to fight.
-The spirit board scene is one of my favorite scenes ever. What is it about this scene? There’s this sweet innocence to it, and the fact that they’re reaching across a veil to communicate because they just can’t let go of each other. It makes their relationship look really intimate and separate from everyone else. Sam saying “don’t make fun of me,” Dean grumbling that he feels like he’s at a slumber party, Dean sitting across from Sam and watching him. That moment when Dean touches the planchette, Sam is so happy to actually feel him, and Dean is in awe that he can. They need this contact.
Sam goes “it hasn’t been the same without you, Dean” and then the planchette moves and he says “Dean, what?” and then “Dean is it after you?” Sam really likes saying Dean’s name. He says it all the time. People like saying their crush’s names.
-Sam sits on Dean’s bed, his knee against Dean’s leg, and looks at Dean’s face. Ghost-Dean stands next to Sam, looking at Sam’s face. There’s something really intimate about them gazing at each other like this, with Sam not knowing Dean is looking at him too. They wouldn’t be talking so intimately if Dean were lying there looking back at Sam. Kind of like when you’re talking to someone before bed with the lights out and it feels easier to say what you mean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-“We were just starting to be brothers again.” If this is them just getting started at being brothers again I would kill to see what they were like at their worst closest.
There’s so much in the word “brother” for them. It comes up over and over. I don’t think they ever do this with any other relationship word- neither ever tries to explain their love for John by saying “he’s my dad” with tears in their eyes. It’s like a sacred title. There’s no way they can express what they are to each other, so they use this word that’s only ever applied to each other and that carries their whole history.
The point their relationship has reached now is that Sam trusts Dean completely, Dean needs Sam, and they’re each others’ top priorities. Were they like that right up until Stanford or did something happen before then?
John wrote in his journal about them not getting along as well as they used to when Sam gets into his teens, and speculates that it’s from living in Dean’s shadow. But John was also aware that his boys had their own world that he didn’t have access to, and even very attentive parents often miss quite a bit of what’s going on with their teenage kids.
What we see in teen-era flashbacks is a Sam who resents Dean for being “cool,” a Dean being protective of Sam but also respectful. We see a girl who’s dating Dean only because she thinks maybe he’s not as much of a tool as he seems based on how sweet he is to his little brother. We have Dean and Sam burning down a field when they sneak away to light fireworks, Sam wrapping his arms around Dean’s waist in delight. And we have Sam only wanting to talk to Dean about a case over the phone-not John- and asking for Dean’s advice. They were still close. We know Sam ran away from home once and Dean was out of his mind worried before finding him.
And based on “Providence” Sam and Dean both know Sam feels some type of way about Dean, which would’ve happened pre-Stanford.
And then Sam didn’t tell Dean about Stanford and they didn’t talk for years and Dean thinks Sam must hate him and Dean hates himself but Sam looks at him like a puppy in love. And now “we were just starting to be brothers again.” I wonder what happened for them to both know why Sam isn’t interested in dating when he’s with Dean, and if it had to do with this.
-Sam asks “can you hear me” to an empty room- Ghost Dean isn’t there. It shows how alone Sam feels without Dean.
-Dean objects to dying because he thinks Sam will die without him. This would be an insane thing to think in any other circumstances but I can see why he would think that (see: the babysitting years, the fire at Stanford, etc).
-Sam loves Dean so ferociously. He fights hard for him. He’s protective of Dean to John the whole episode, and it makes me think he’s always been mad at John not just for himself but for Dean too.
-John tells Dean he will have to either save Sam or kill him. Dean’s contract with John previously was always to save and care for Sam. Now saving him has a different and more religious meaning.
-So John thanks Dean for taking care of both him and Sammy, tells him he may have to kill Sam, and then dies. Iconic.

Death Stranding gender talk you say? Count me in.
Oh, I'm so glad someone asked about MPreg: A Hideo Kojima Game :3c
I'm going to put a quick CW in here for a medical-setting image of an umbilical cord. It's pretty mild, but I think doing side-by-side images will be helpful for illustrating what I'm talking about. Also, big spoilers for anyone that hasn't finished the game, obviously
Literally everything in Death Stranding is so very tied to parenthood and especially the pregnancy and birth parts. Yes it's technically a metaphor for the creative process but also it's, uh, incredibly visceral. So I'm gonna start here with Sam, but damn everyone in this game has some gender going on.
Can we talk about how Bridget chose the same name for both her other half/fictional daughter AND for her adopted son? I feel like not enough people mention the fact that "Amelie's" "real" name is Samantha America Strand, and everyone just calls her Amelie. Maybe because it's fucking weird to have two kids named Sam and Samantha?
The fact is too, that the two Sams aren't the only ones with gender-ambiguous names in the game...we don't know Lou's gender until the very end! The use of gender-ambiguous names for the only two main characters that you as the player can actually interact with feels hella meaningful.
In fact, the game intentionally lets us think that Lou/BB is a boy for most of the game! Cliff refers to his BB as "him" in one of the first cutscenes we see of him, very early on. The game also lets us believe, for some time at least, that there's a chance that the memories are BB/Lou's, and that Lou is Cliff's baby. We don't know this isn't true until near the end of the game! Why didn't any of the characters point out this contradiction before then? I'm not sure, at least not yet. Very open to thoughts on this. It doesn't feel like the MO of the game to have a gender reveal at the end for shock value.
Anyways, let's get in on point one obvious: like I already said, this is an mpreg game. There's...there's no way around it. A dudes carry a fetus attached to them by an umbilical cord (which they make VERY viscerally look like a real umbilical cord btw, between the color/texture/the additional cable along the outside).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like "haha it's the mpreg game" has probably been done to death but I love it so much specifically because of the implications that it makes and the puns that it plays on.
Sam is a delivery man. He's called "The Great Deliverer" or "The Man Who Delivers." And the last scene of the game, the last line before we flash-back for the postgame, is...?
Literally childbirth! It's...delivery. It's Sam delivering his own child, after making a trek by foot across the continental US carrying a difficult pregnancy. "The Man Who Delivers" is a double entendre throughout the game, just like "strand" is ('strand' like rope or hair, 'strand' as in a portion of a larger network, 'strand' as in stranding, like the beach, etc).
So like, what the fuck, right? Why do we have Mpreg: Hiking Simulator? What the HELL is going on in there?
So. America, right?
If there's anything Kojima really loves to talk about, it's America. American identity, imperialism, national myth, etc. Death Stranding is just the most recent and blatant of these. And, of course, one of the most popular American Myths are the story of the founding fathers, right up there with manifest destiny.
So we have this game where Sam is both literally becoming a father after carrying a surrogate pregnancy, and also metaphorically becoming a father by re-founding America. In that way we can see, through his experience of pregnancy, the trials of (re-)founding America.
Okay, great, cool, Sam is a male mom, wonderful, so glad that technology has progressed to this point, we stan. Maybe we don't stan the use of American nationalism as a tool so much but look at the healthy baby glow <3.
But I also want to contrast this with the only other BB we really see in the game. Yeah, baby, it's Higgs time!!! And I am going to make a comparison that is going to seem batshit insane. Bear with me:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was skeptical myself when I first saw this comparison, but I've been converted into a believer for a few reasons.
The visual. While imo it wouldn't be enough on its own to make a case, I have to admit that his hood is similar to some popular depictions of Mary
Higgs is literally a male prophet of a goddess of extinction. He essentially considers himself her messenger,
While Sam gets his BB from another person, and it's also a live fetus, Higgs gets his from Amelie, as how god gives mary jesus immaculately
Much like Amelie's reveal that her "soul is a lie," the "baby" that she gives higgs is a twisted effigy. He carries his god(dess)'s physical form, but as she is a goddess of extinction with no remaining soul of her own, it will never grow.
i'm willing to believe higgs is a virgin, for the bit.
Okay okay I gotta stop for now because it's 1 AM but like, consider it, mayhaps.

Tumblr media
Ethan walked into his dad’s apartment. “About fucking time, you fucking showed up!” Detective Bailey snapped at his son as he stood up from the chair he was sitting on. Ethan just rolled his eyes as he took off his book bag and dropped it to the floor by the door. “Where the fuck were you boy?” Detective Bailey asked him in a stern tone. “He was too busy fucking his girlfriend.” Quinn answered before Ethan could get a word out. “Quinn, what the fuck?” Ethan snapped as he looked at his blabber mouth sister with a death glare. “Girlfriend? Since when?” Detective Bailey asked him. “It’s not important.” Ethan said walking over to his dad and Quinn who was still sitting on the couch. “It is important if she knows the bitch sisters.” Detective Bailey told him in a stern tone obviously referring to the Carpenter sisters. “Y/N has nothing to do with what happened to Ritchie!” Ethan told him using the same tone his father just used on him. “I don’t give a fuck! If she’s close to anyone in that fucking group, she’s on the list.” Detective Bailey told him.
This is why Ethan didn’t want his dad to know about Y/N. His dad holds the biggest grudge against the sisters for the death of Ritchie aka the favorite child. No, Ethan didn’t have any bad blood with his brother so yes, he was devastated to hear about what happened. Quinn was upset too but she’s just like their dad, she wants Sam to pay for what she did. Ethan is upset too, he feels his body build up with rage when he’s around the sister’s but when Y/N is with him, that anger melts away.
“You listen to me right now boy!” Detective Bailey started as he pointed his index finger at Ethan. “I suggest if you don’t want your little girlfriend getting hurt, you better keep her away from those sisters because if she gets in the way of the job, she’s fucking dead!” Detective Bailey told him in a warning tone with a dark look in his eyes. “If anyone gets in the way of us getting our revenge on those murders that killed your brother, they are fucking dead!” he added, putting his finger down but still staring at his youngest son with darkness.
“Now sit your ass down next to your sister and listen to the plan.” Detective Bailey told him in a demanding tone. Ethan did what he was told to do. As his dad discussed the plan all Ethan could think about was how he was going to be able to keep Y/N away from the sisters. He may be able to keep her away from Sam, but he doesn’t know how he’s going to keep her away from Tara since whenever she’s with Anika, she’s with Tara, too.
********************
As the days passed it was getting closer to the night where Detective Bailey is going to get the revenge plan started by killing a boy named Jason and his movie film geek friend who were also trying to kill Sam and Tara. Ever since Detective Bailey told Ethan about what will happen to Y/N if she doesn’t stay out of the way he’s been avoiding her. He doesn’t mean to ignore the girl he loves more than anything but the closer they get to the launch night the more he worries about her safety.
Ethan was at his apartment that he shares with Chad getting ready to meet Quinn at his dad’s apartment to go over the plan one last time. But right before he could walk out the door Y/N showed up. “Hey, I need to talk to you, now.” Y/N told him with a stern look in her eyes. He knew she just got off work since she was still in her Starbucks uniform. Ethan also knew what she needed to talk to him about, so he just nodded and let her walk inside the apartment.
“What’s going on with you?” Y/N asked him as she folded her arms over her chest. “What?” Ethan asked, playing dumb as he shut the door. “I’ve been calling and texting you and you haven’t been answering.” Y/N explained to him. “I was scared that something happened to you.” She added with worry in her tone. “I don’t deserve you.” Ethan told her looking away from her gaze. “What the hell are you talking about?” Y/N asked him with complete confusion in her tone. He just stayed silent as he continued to look down at the floor. “Ethan.” Y/N said going to put one of her hands onto his cheek, but he quickly stepped away from her.
“You need to leave.” Ethan told her still not looking at her worried face. “I’m not leaving till you tell me what the hell is going on with you.” Y/N told him. “We can’t be together anymore, okay!” Ethan said with frustration, finally looking at her. “You’re breaking up with me?” Y/N said in complete shock. “Why? Did I do something wrong?” she asked as tears started to flood her eyes. It was killing Ethan to see her crying especially since he’s the one that’s making her cry. “It’s not you, it’s me. I got way too much shit going on that I don’t want you to get in the middle of.” Ethan explained to her as he could feel tears flooding his eyes as well. “It’s also best if we stay away from each other. It’s for the best.” Ethan told her as tears made their way down his face.
He didn’t want to do this, but he thought that maybe if she stays away from him, she will be safe. Y/N just gave him a nod since she was crying so hard, she was scared that if she opened her mouth nothing, but sobs would come out. “I’m sorry.” Ethan cried out. He went to go take her hand, but she stepped away from him. She walked around him and out the door slamming it shut behind him.
********************
Since Ethan broke up with Y/N she did what he told her to do. She hasn’t been around Ethan she hasn’t hung out with the rest of the group because she doesn’t want to run into him. When Anika asked what had happened Y/N didn’t tell her everything that was said. She just told her roommate that her and Ethan decided to break up. Also, since the breakup the only time Y/N gets out of the apartment is to go to work or class. It was like Y/N went back into the shell she was in before she even met Ethan. She went back to the girl she was when she was growing up.
It was Friday which was the start of Halloween weekend and Anika and Mindy were trying to convince Y/N to come to a costume frat party that night. “C’mon on Y/N! You really need to get out of this small ass apartment.” Mindy told her. “I get out of the apartment.” Y/N said defending herself. “Going to work and class doesn’t count!” Mindy told her in a stern tone which made Y/N roll her eyes.
“Y/N, I know that you’re still upset over your breakup with Ethan, but you shouldn’t let that stop you from going out and having some fun with your friends.” Anika told her as she sat down on the end of Y/N’s bed.
Whenever Y/N is home all she does is just lay in her bed since it’s her safe place. Plus, her sheets still smell like Ethan so, when she’s lying in bed the smell makes her feel like he is there laying next to her.
“Yeah, come with us and get with a guy that can really show you a good time.” Mindy told Y/N with a smirk, but it quickly dropped when Anika slapped her on the arm. “What?” Mindy asked, confused on why her girlfriend smacked her on the arm. Y/N just rolled her eyes again. It’s been clear since day one that Mindy isn’t a fan of her twin brother’s roommate. It made Y/N’s blood boil when Mindy criticized Ethan.
“How about we take you out to go get a costume to wear tonight and I’ll pay for it myself.” Anika told her with hope in her eyes. Y/N really didn’t want to go for many reasons. Of course, the first one was because she didn’t want to run into Ethan. The second reason was that she’s not a big party girl. But if she stays around Mindy or Anika, she won’t have to deal with meeting new people and it’s also a big house with a bunch of people so she might not have to worry about running into Ethan. And if she’s being completely honest, she really wanted to get drunk since that might take away all of the pain that has been stinging her heart. Also, she knows that Anika won’t quit at it till she gets what she wants.
“Okay, I’ll come.” Y/N said with a heavy sigh as she stood up from her bed. “Yay!” Anika said with excitement as she stood up from the bed as well.
********************
Y/N was at the party sitting on a couch with Anika and Mindy. The costume Y/N was wearing that she didn’t pick out herself was a sexy costume of Harley Quinn. It was similar to the outfit she wore in the first Suicide Squad movie. Anika did her make up and hair to match the character. Even though Y/N told them multiple times that she didn’t want to hook up with someone they made her wear the costume since all guys get turned on by a girl wearing a Harley Quinn costume. Y/N couldn’t help but feel very uncomfortable in the costume. At least she is wearing shorts instead of what the character really wore but she still felt self-conscious since this is the most skin she has shown to people except Ethan.
Tara walked by them looking completely wasted which made Y/N jealous. She wished that’s how she was since maybe if she was drunk, she would be having a lot more fun. She wanted to get another drink, so she decided to go to the kitchen by herself since Anika and Mindy were too deep in conversation. Y/N squeezed by people and walked into the kitchen where not many people where not many people were which made her feel a little bit more relaxed.
She grabbed a red solo cup and looked at all of the bottles of liquor. She picked up a bottle of Jack Daniels Whiskey and poured some into her cup. After she put the bottle down, she drank down the whole cup which made her wince at the burning sensation in her throat. But damn that felt so damn good. Y/N went to grab the bottle again, but someone grabbed her wrist before she could touch the glass bottle. When she looked up, she saw a random guy was holding her wrist.
She couldn’t help but scoff at the guy’s costume or if even is a costume. He was wearing a New York Knicks jersey and just a pair of black jeans. She couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable under his gaze and the creepy smirk he had on his face. “Can you let go of my wrist please.” Y/N said trying to pull it away from his tight grip. “Why? You got a boyfriend?” The man asked her looking her up and down which made a shiver go down her spine. Before Y/N could answer a familiar voice answered for her.
“Yeah, I’m her boyfriend.” Ethan told him with a stern look in his eyes. “Now you heard her. Let her go.” He added in a demanding tone which scared Y/N a little bit since she’s never seen Ethan like this before. “He’s your boyfriend?” The guy asked her which earned him a nod from her. The guy let go of her wrist that was now red and sore. “I suggest you get the fuck out of here now!” Ethan told him in a warning tone with a dark look in his brown eyes. The guy actually did what Ethan told him to do but he did grumble something under his breath which was probably something about Ethan’s costume which was made out of cardboard and duct tape.
“Are you okay?” Ethan asked her with concern, wiping the dark look off his face. He went to touch her wrist, but she quickly took a step back from him. “Y/N!” Ethan said in a stern tone. “You said we should stay away from each other.” Y/N told him putting her empty cup on the counter. “Oh, so I’m just supposed to let some drunk horny asshole try and take advantage of you?” Ethan said with frustration in his tone. “You wearing a costume like that is a horny guy magnet.” He added which quickly made her blood boil. “I didn’t want to wear this stupid fucking costume! Anika and Mindy made me wear it!” Y/N told him in a snappy tone glaring at him. “Damn it, Y/N!” Ethan hissed running a hand through his brown curls losing his cardboard helmet in the house somewhere.
“You need to stop letting them make you do shit that you don’t want to do! You need to get into a friend group that doesn’t walk all over you.” He told her in a stern tone. “Oh, like you’re one to talk!” Y/N snapped with a harsh laugh. “You let everyone in the group make fun of how dorky you are, and you let Chad make you go to these dumb ass parties when he knows how shy and uncomfortable, they make you!” Y/N told him with frustration and annoyance in her tone. Ethan knew she was right but unlike her, he’s going to get his revenge for all of that shit when he kills them.
Before Ethan could say anything back, they heard yelling coming from the living room. “What the hell?” Y/N said in confusion. “Come on.” Ethan said and walked towards the yelling with her. When they got there, they saw Chad fighting with some random guy. The only one who was telling them to stop was Tara. Chad was about to punch the guy, but someone stepped in front of them. That someone was Tara’s older sister Sam.
Y/N couldn’t hear what Sam said to the guy so when she tazed him in the balls it took Y/N by surprise. “Don’t ever lay your hands on my sister!” Sam snapped as she glared down at, they guy who was rolling on the hard wood floor holding his dick. As the guy yelled at Sam, Tara yelled at her sister and then quickly ran out of the house. As the guy groaned in pain Y/N heard people whispering about how Sam is that crazy chick from Woodsboro. Y/N sadly knows what they are talking about. When Ethan saw the friend group make their way out of the house, he took Y/N’s hand and walked her out of the house.
********************
Everyone was now at Sam and Tara’s apartment. Everyone but Sam who was pretty upset from her fight with Tara and getting drench with soda from some bitch was downstairs in the hallway but when a breaking news report came on Chad quickly got her to come inside. It was a news report about Ghostface.
The only one who noticed a guy following behind them was Quinn. Everyone had their eyes glued to the screen especially Y/N. She didn’t know how to feel. I mean she was defiantly fucking terrified since the attack happened just a couple buildings down from the apartment complex that she lives in.
When Ethan looked over at Y/N who was sitting between Mindy and Quinn he saw the fear in her eyes. He wished he could walk over there and pull her into his arms and let her cry in his chest since he knew she was holding it all in. He also wanted to get her away from Quinn since he doesn’t trust her. This is exactly why he broke up with her. He didn’t want her to get caught up in a situation where she could end up losing her life. He knows that he’s going to have to do everything he could do to protect her whether she wants him to or not.
When Tara and Sam left Y/N stood up and made her way to the bathroom. She closed the door and started to look through the drawers for make-up remover wipes. She sighed in relief when she found some. She took four wipes out and used them to wipe away all of the make-up she had on. It felt so good to wipe all of that heavy make-up off because it made her feel like herself again. She felt like she was hiding behind a mask with all of that make-up on. She threw away the wipes and put the packet back into drawer shutting it.
She pulled her hair out of pig tails. She couldn’t wait to go back to her apartment and wash this stupid pink and blue out. Another thing Anika made her do. Y/N could still feel her nerves pacing from the news report, so she closed her eyes and took a calming breath to try and calm herself done. Just when she felt calm someone banged on the door startling her.
When she opened the door, she saw it was Ethan. Before she could say anything, he pushed himself inside the small bathroom and shut the door. “Ethan, what the- “Y/N started to say but he hushed her. “They aren’t going to hurt you.” Ethan told her with a serious look in his brown eyes. “Who?” Y/N asked with confusion and a bit frightened. “The new Ghostface, I’m going to make sure that they don’t lay a fucking finger on you.” Ethan told her stepping closer to her.
Even though Y/N was concerned about Ethan’s sudden protection of her she didn’t step back the closeness since she knew that he wasn’t going to hurt her. “How do you know that for sure?” Y/N asked him in a soft tone. “Because if they want you, they are going to have to go through me first.” Ethan told her in a stern tone and pulled her into a hug.
Y/N just let him embrace her. To be honest, she was too in shock by what Ethan just told her. She can sense that he’s hiding something. That could be why he broke up with her. She’s not going to ask about it now since she knows he isn’t going to be truthful, but she is going to have that thought in the back of her head when she’s around him.

2.1 Penacony thoughts [part1]
Tumblr media
**Mild spoiler warning** until the first moment we switch to Aventurine’s POV in the story and I don’t think much has happened yet, but if you haven’t reached that point yet, then turn away anyway if you wish I’m just gonna ramble a bit here and toss my thoughts into the void for my own reference.
Firstly, the return of the odd yellow text and Aventurine calling us ~fuh-riends~ in that hilarious and exaggerated tone of his.
Tumblr media
Makes me wonder whom else has perished during their time in Penacony, and if it’s true, then the Family certainly has experience with covering such things up which raises many other concerns. Also gives me another reason to not fully trust Sunday.
Tumblr media
Oh teehee~ We got Aventurine’s number. And some extra credits due to my responses, HA. sugardaddy
Tumblr media
As we learned from a beautifully animated dance animation, Black Swan certainly knows how dangerous Acheron can be.
Tumblr media
he whole flashback with Duke & Acheron was pretty good. It at least gives us more context rather than us being told he was killed offscreen, but still confirms the dude is dead, though he mentions the kids are alive, somehow. Duke also guessed that Acheron’s an Emanator (though he’s wrong about which path), then there was some important music box that gets brought up later on, and Acheron speaks of her sword that has indeed been sheathed this entire time, even during the 2.0 story.
Tumblr media
At the very end of the scene it fades to black and Acheron full says: “May death be the end of your boundless dream, guiding you back to the waking world,” which I remember is the exact thing she said after witnessing Firefly’s death.
Tumblr media
Sweetie, you’re a big mystery but it does not surprise me in the slightest to learn that you’re wanted by the IPC after witnessing your power in your many trailers. Hearing her speak about the Stellaron Hunters though made me think back to her character trailer, since I wondered if she even knew who was attacking her in the first place, but perhaps she did, even if the trio was nothing but Sparkle’s tricky illusions.
Tumblr media
It was kinda funny seeing her get lost occasionally in the hotel during the previous story update, but now I feel bad knowing that she has horrible memory. Having to rely on your emotions seems quite challenging if you don’t have a good control of them, but she seems to be fairing well enough.
Tumblr media
Tell us your suspicions Acheron! I mean, I have my guesses as well, but I’d take your word over anyone else’s.
Tumblr media
It was at this moment where I had a real random idea and thought, “huh, could this be Boothill?” I found it strange how they revealed him to us when we haven’t even met the dude in game yet, like he really came in outta nowhere for me. But seeing Sam again and realizing how both of them have robotic bodies.. I dunno. I thought it could’ve been an extra set of armor or something.
Tumblr media
Of course it makes no sense, since Sam & Boothill have different voice actors anyways, but still, the way Acheron speaks so familiar to him, as if they were both truly galaxy rangers, gave me second thoughts for just a brief moment. Nothing more. Just a small silly idea.
Tumblr media
The return of the worrisome red text, capable of causing anxiety even through such a small word. With her horrible memory, I assume she’s not even sure what she’s supposed to be doing in life, so asking about Elio’s script and if she’s included made me think she’s trying to learn about her purpose and her own goals.
Tumblr media
Say it loud, mom! We shall NOT. TRUST. ANYONE! And at this moment I seriously don’t. If they ain’t from the Express then you’re sus. Case closed.
Tumblr media
Glad to see Danny boy lending us a helping hand from the train, but red text begone! First learning about how Acheron has terrible memory and now we can’t even remember her well? That can’t be good.
Tumblr media
I firmly believed that if you die in the dream, you would just wake up in real life, so thank whatever Aeon you fancy that we’re finally getting the idea to head back into reality to confirm if Firefly and Robin are still alive. Maybe we should check up on those couple npcs that passed away during side quests too.
Tumblr media
The way I held my breath.. I don’t even know much about HI3 but I’m aware our grandpa is more or less the same guy, so seeing him interact with some like Acheron, oh dear. The way Acheron still didn’t reveal her true name to him made me more wary too. I get she might not even remember, because poor memory, but hmmm.
Tumblr media
I can understand her having some Stellaron Hunter knowledge because she’s wanted just like them, but ma’am why do you know this?? especially since the Family doesn’t even know the truth about Welt’s cane apparently.
Tumblr media
Can’t lie, a fight between him and Acheron would be a spectacle. Who do you think would win?
Tumblr media
Again, how does she know this? Has she been chatting with Aventurine? because he figured out our stellaron last patch too.
Tumblr media
First thought: yay, she’s worried about us. Second thought: why would she be concerned about Black Swan? Shouldn’t it be the other way around after their dance? Third thought: What exactly is Black Swan capable of and how frightened should I be right now? Fourth thought: Acheron, why do you know so much about others??
Tumblr media
So this music box.. why exactly does Black Swan have it now? Didn’t Acheron snatch it from Duke Inferno? Was she planning to give it to BS, or did memokeeper steal it off her? I dunno.
Tumblr media
Is it me or does it feel like she’s talking to someone else? Another memokeeper? Or just to herself for dramatic effect? Either way, who exactly are we expecting to show up?
Tumblr media
I honestly was getting a bit creeped out during this scene, from the weird camera angles the game was giving is to seeing Black Swan not understand what was going on or who was speaking to her. I actually started fearing for her life and I made a stunning realization that if they killed off BS I would actually freak out. Surprisingly, I wasn’t too upset over Firefly (we didn’t spend much time with her), but it feels like we’ve know BS for longer you know? Ever since that trailer about all the Aeons.
Tumblr media
I can hear Luocha somewhere in the distance going “the dead return!” I tease, but actually hearing one of those from Ever-Flame Mansion call out to BS was a bit confusing? Duke said his kids were alive, sure, but BS is looking at past memories attached to the music box, right? So I’m still a bit on the fence regarding who out of the kids are actually alive. Maybe some, maybe all. Maybe I’m being played for a fool and thinking about it too much.
Tumblr media
How many of y’all got excited to see Ratio interact with Aventurine again? I know you people are out there. Anyways, hearing about how Robin had a stand-in leads me to believe her death was planned, which would upset me greatly because what did that precious lady ever do to anyone??
Tumblr media
It’s crazy this man has actually tried several times to end himself inside the dreams, like bro what if you actually succeeded?? At least this shod bring us some relief that Firefly and Robin are okay? Hopefully? I’ll believe when I see them.
Tumblr media
I freakin' knew there was something wrong with her voice!! The first couple times we meet her you can tell her voice sounded off, like it was glitching out or something. It’s not very easy to hear, but the difference between the real Robin and Sparkle impersonating Robin towards the end of the last patch sounded different. No wonder Sunday picked up on Sparkle’s trick so easily.
Tumblr media
Soooo, that’s pretty much everything I went through after the update hit. Unfortunately it isn’t much but adulting is a drag. Of course I’m looking forward to continuing the story later on. Starting with these men again will be a treat too.

Pairing: Firefighter Steve Rogers x GN!Reader
Summary: THIS IS NOT A DRILL!; or where Steve has to save you for real now.
Warning: LONG ONE-SHOT, accident description, blood, injury, mention of DUI, steve feeling powerless/panicking, mentions of anxiety attack, swearing, steve is insecure/belittles himself, angst with good ending, some usage of y/n, bonus scene with protective steve/sam/bucky at the end.
Author's note: i knew the second part of Evacuation Drill had to be with a real one: steve really saving reader this time, this one being less sexy and a little more dramatic. there will be some inconsistencies in this fanfic as well (doctors can only give info about patients to family members, for example). most of the rescuing references came from this video, so you can watch to have a visual of what they are doing. also thank you so much for the feedback on the first part, i hope you guys like this one as well! gif credit to its owner.
Part 1
Tumblr media
When the crash happened, you weren't looking at your phone. It had been vibrating the whole day, begging for your attention but you didn't have the time to look at it. You had been driving home, exhausted. You had a really stressful day at your work, with your boss Jerry suddenly informing the team Friday morning that "they" had a huge project for Monday! It wasn't anyone's fault in the team except Jerry's, who had warned he needed that presentation to show the directors. Everyone was ordered to stay late that Friday, except Jerry, to finish the presentation. Your boss had left at 5 o'clock, on point, ordering no one to leave until those slides were ready and e-mailed to him.
You had a pretty competent team, so everyone worked together to finish. Leah was the first to leave; she had twins to take care and she couldn't pay extra for the nanny. She promised to continue her work at home. Polly also couldn't stay more; she took care of her sick grandma. Soon everyone started leaving due to their personal lives, promising to continue at home, except you. You believed in them. The team was strong, except for Jerry. They all looked at you as their boss figure anyway since they knew they couldn't count on Jerry. You wondered how he even got that boss position.
You were so deep in your thoughts, you didn't realize a huge car was speeding through the red light, directly towards you.
-x-
Steve Rogers watched as Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson played some ping pong. It had been a slow night. They had received a call from a cat trapped in a tree(Bucky affirmed over and over again that the old lady had a crush on Steve, that's why she kept calling), some teenagers started a fire in a trashcan in a park and a lady who called about her house being on fire. After a complete check-up in her house, with no sign of any fire anywhere, they realized her alarms were defective due to battery. She apologized profusely, giving them cookies.
"It's Friday night, soon we will probably have something," Natasha Romanoff stated on their way back to the station "At least, we got cookies."
Steve's life had changed in those a lot in those last couple of months: first, he had become an official firefighter. He loved his job, he loved helping people. He felt his purpose was being filled and he was happy. Proud of himself, he would have to admit.
Also, he had a new person in his life: you. He almost couldn't believe it. Since the evacuation drill, Sam gave him your phone number and you started exchanging texts daily. On your first date, he was extremely nervous, because Steve felt completely out of your league. You were so pretty, intelligent, successful, and well, he was just a once skinny kid from nowhere in particular. But for a miracle, you were interested in him. The first kiss came on that same night, outside your door.
Sam and Bucky were eager for all juicy details the following day and Steve could swear Natasha was listening to the conversation as well. He shared about the kiss, making Bucky celebrate and throw his fists in the air. Sam crossed his arms, stared at him very seriously. Sam made Steve promise he wouldn't hurt his best friend. Or else, they would have problems.
Steve twirled his phone in his hands, checking if there were any new messages from you. Nothing since 9 AM. You told him there was some critical project, Jerry again (gosh, he hated Jerry), and you probably would have to work late again. Since then Steve tried to call you at lunchtime and texted a few more times, during his free time, with no answer. Steve was tempted to ask Sam if he had heard from you when they heard the alarm.
Steve jumped from the chair, running to their truck followed closed by the rest of them. Natasha jumped in the driver's seat with Sam in the passenger seat. Bucky and Steve went behind them.
"What is it, what is it?" Bucky inquired, rubbing his hands in excitement.
"Car collision. A car was crossing the green light when another one hit it, at high speed, making the car flip two times and hit a pole. One driver is okay, but the police don't know the condition of the other one." Natasha informed them and Steve could hear Bucky almost cheer. She hushed to turn the siren, driving fast through the city. Lieutenant Natasha was the best driver in the whole station really.
It was a nice change of pace for that monotonous night, but why did Steve have a bad feeling about this?
-x-
When they arrived, police had already circled the area. There was a crowd forming, some people with their phones out. The police officer informed them the driver who caused the accident had only gotten some minor injuries. They were testing him for DUI at that moment, but they couldn't get any information from the other driver. Not good news: their victim was most likely unconscious.
"I hope they survived this. It looks so bad." The cop reported the team.
The car was destroyed, just a black mass laying on the side against the pole. It was hard to believe there was a human inside there. There were parts of it everywhere splattered on the street, proving the collision was violent.
"That driver must have come super fast. Jesus..." Bucky asserted, shaking his head.
Steve mentally wished the driver would be fine. It looked like there was no gas spilled so the driver could consider themselves very lucky. When they started getting closer, his bad feelings started to get worse. Steve unconsciously looked at Sam who seemed to have the same thoughts as him.
"I will check on the driver and then we can decide how we are going to take this person out," Natasha ordered and they all agreed. Steve knew exactly what that meant: if they were going to recover an injured person or possibly just a body.
Bucky helped Natasha get up into what seemed to be the passenger side and she turned on her flashlight, looking inside. For a moment, they couldn't see her head while she observed inside.
"Fuck..." Natasha cursed. That was strange. Natasha was their most experienced professional and the one that always kept her composure, no matter how bad things had gotten. When she lifted her head, her face had lost all color and her eyes went directly towards Sam and Steve. Bucky helped her get down.
"Lieutenant?" Sam wondered, giving a fast look in Steve's direction.
"There is no easy way to say this," Natasha murmured to herself, her eyes getting watery. Steve's heart was bumping against his chest as he waited for his Lieutenant to speak.
"Is the person alive or dead? Are you okay, Lieutenant?" Bucky questioned. They had never seen Natasha like this.
"It is (Y/N). It is (Y/N) inside that car." Natasha blurted.
Steve's heart stopped beating as his mind went blank. No, it couldn't be. Natasha had to be mistaken. You were safe and at home probably, where you were supposed to be. Safe and alive.
"Natasha, how-?" Bucky started asking, shocked when Sam ran to the car. He jumped to the passenger with no help, looking inside with his flashlight.
It was really you. He would recognize the face of his best friend anywhere. But it didn't look like you. Your head was bleeding. Your legs were bleeding. Your eyes were closed. Your body was immobile. Sam screamed your name once. Twice. You didn't move an inch.
"We have to get them out of here!" Sam's scream came in panic as his head raced with what needed to be done. They needed to get you out of there as soon as possible. He had to get you out of there.
Sam joined the others, Natasha still visibly shocked and Bucky looking between them, waiting for orders. The worse of them was Steve: he was frozen, his blue eyes focused on a random point. Sam knew there was no time for this. You needed them. All of them. He grabbed Steve by his neck and made him stare at his eyes.
"They need us, Rogers. Don't you dare to panic on this right now. We will take (Y/N) out of there."
Steve felt like he was slapped awake by Sam. He was right. You needed him more than ever now. Decided, he nodded. Natasha and Bucky, influenced by Sam's words, ran to the firetruck to grab the needed tools while Sam helped Steve to get up in the passenger side, to get a good look at you.
His eyes got teary as he saw your body. You were laying sideways, your face close to all the glass pieces on the floor. There was so much blood. You looked so hurt and small. He never thought he would have to see you like this in his line of duty. Steve wished he had super powers now: he wanted to rip off that door and take you away and cure you. Make sure nothing else could hurt you.
When Steve got down, Sam warned him Bucky and Natasha were already back. Steve cleaned his eyes, his body shaking with anger, sadness, and fear. In his very recent fireman career, he had never felt so weak before. He felt like he was 14 again when he couldn't protect himself from bullies, needing Bucky to save him. But this time it was even more serious, this was about someone he deeply loved and cared about.
Steve let his eyes wander to where the cops were keeping the bastard who hit you. He started to make his way there, his hands closed in fists. He just wanted the driver to feel a little bit of the pain you were feeling when Sam stood in his way.
"Rogers, don't you fucking dare! (Y/N) needs you now! Are you with us or not?"
"If they are dead, I swear to God, I will kill him," Steve promised, his tone low and dangerous.
"I know. We both will. But for now, let's focus on taking (Y/N) out of this car." Sam sounded serious and Steve knew he was telling the truth. He knew how much Sam loved you.
"ROGERS, WILSON! LESS TALKING!" It was Lieutenant Natasha now ordering now, her face red.
The plan was simple and they had done so many times: stabilize the car, locking it so it didn't turn while they were working on it. Remove the windshield to have access to you, place the neck brace, and check your vitals. Then pull the roof of the car, safely and slowly, using the rescue stretcher to safely remove your body, still held by the safety belt. Bucky had the neck brace ready which was the first thing they had to do when having access to your body. To not damage your spine, Steve thought, his heart heavy.
So they started working. Steve could feel Natasha stare at him and Sam at times. She had recovered faster from the shock of seeing your body and Sam as well, although Sam was as young as Steve in this. Steve let the adrenaline take over: he ignored all the noises, stares, and the presence of other people. There was just you and his team.
When stabilizing the car was done, it was time to cut the windshield. Sam did that part, carefully trying to not hurt you. As soon as the windshield came out, Bucky stepped in. He didn't look at the rest of the team as half of his body disappeared inside the car, checking for your vitals and putting on the neck brace, carefully. Steve was right behind him, observing nervously.
When Bucky exited the car, there was relief in his worried eyes.
"Still breathing and there is a pulse" Bucky stated. Natasha and Sam breath relieved, but Steve had to check for himself. Your body was cold. There was still breathing and a pulse but it was very weak.
"We need to get them out of here, now!" Steve roared. Natasha gave the hydraulic claw to his hands.
"You think you can do this, Steve?" Bucky inquired, unsure.
Steve nodded, without thinking twice. There was no more trace of fear or apprehensiveness on him anymore. His sole focus was on taking you out of there as fast as he could. Without hurting you.
-x-
The whole process didn't take him too long. After Steve was done cutting the roof, it didn't fall to the ground. The roof was supposed to stay in, to help them. Sam and Natasha put the board inside, adjusting your body to directly lay on it.
As they laid the roof down slowly, your body came down with it, laying to your side. Steve and Sam rushed to bring your body out, bending your knees and keeping your feet together. Steve's mind was racing to carry you out straight to the ambulance, but he kept his mind focused.
EMS rolled in with their stretcher and your body was carefully placed in there, still laying to your side. They rushed to cover your body with an aluminum blanket and rolled out of way in direction of their ambulance. Steve rushed to your side but before he could get inside the ambulance, the doctors closed in on his face.
"They are taking them to the closest hospital, five miles away. Come on, we will drive you there!" Sam warned and they all ran back to the firetruck, Steve jumping at the passenger seat now. Natasha turned on the fire alarm, driving straight to the hospital.
Steve could only wish for the best now.
-x-
You opened your eyes and wanted to close them immediately. There was a bright light everywhere and pain. Your whole body was hurting, from your head to your feet. Especially at your ribs. There was a distant electronic beeping sound. The room got on focus and you didn't recognize where exactly you were.
It looked like a hospital room. What had happened? All you remembered was driving back late from work then nothing else. Trying to lift yourself up to observe the place better, you felt gentle hands taking you back to the bed.
"Hey hey, please don't do that. You will hurt yourself."
You looked at the person speaking and blinked a few times. It was your boyfriend Steve Rogers. Dressed in full uniform, except for the helmet. His face was dirty and he looked extremely worried at you.
"Steve?" You barely recognized your voice. It felt like you hadn't spoken in ages. You cleared your dry throat and tried again "What happened?"
"You were in a car accident last night."
A car accident? But how? What?
"We were called in. I was called in. We took you out of there."
The realization slowly kicked in. You didn't remember arriving home last night. You lifted your hands up and saw a bandage on them. It hurt every time you breathed and your head felt so heavy. You touched your head and felt bandages everywhere.
"You guys saved me?" Steve nodded. You looked behind him on a sofa where you find his protective helmet. Steve had dark circles under his eyes, his blonde hair a mess. You don't think Steve noticed or cared about that at the time. So different from the normal Steve Rogers you were used to seeing. The one with his hair always down and tidy, clean face.
Because this Steve had gone through hell. After being left in there by the rest of the crew (Sam made him promise he would send updates as soon as he knew), Steve waited for news about your situation. The doctors had come out for what seemed years later to let him know your condition was serious but stable. You had broken ribs, a concussion (they had to do more exams to check on that), one of your legs and your arm were broken, and some internal bleeding in your belly. They would keep you in the hospital for a night or two to be cautious and until the exams were ready.
After texting the group chat and calling Sam to confirm your condition was serious but stable, Sam told him he would be at the hospital as soon as his shift was done. Sam also informed him of Natasha's message not to worry, they could talk about Steve's shift later on. He rapidly turned off the call when a nurse said he was allowed in. Most eyes turned towards him as he walked on his way to your room. People probably wondering if there was a fire nearby.
When he saw you sleeping in your bed, Steve broke down. The nurse left him for privacy and Steve tried to hold back his tears, putting his hand over his mouth. That didn't work. He turned around not bearing to look at you in that hospital bed. Steve was trying to control himself as his sobs just got worse. His breath became rapid as his heart was beating faster than yours, according to the heartbeat machine. His body hunched over and Steve held his knees, the tears getting worse. He barely could breathe right now. What an embarrassment he was. He never got to stop being that weak teenager who cried when things got difficult. You laying down in that bed proved how worthless he truly was.
Steve looked at you over his shoulder again and remembered Sam's words "(Y/N) needs you." Steve closed his eyes, breathing in and out slowly. In and out with your healthy face in his mind. Your happy face. "(Y/N) wouldn't want to see him like this" a mix of Bucky and Sam's voices came into his head and he opened his eyes, feeling much calmer now. He took his helmet, throwing at a sofa nearby, grabbing a chair to sit near you. He had been awake the whole night, waiting for you to open your eyes.
"How long l have been out?" Your voice brought him back to the present.
"Five or six hours. Your family has been informed and they are on their way. Sam is appearing soon as well." Steve stated and you tried to nod, with no success.
"Am I gonna be okay? Did the doctors say anything?"
"They will keep you at night for observation due to a concussion you have. They expect full recovery from you, love." Steve answered, looking down. It was all his fault. If he only had taken you out of that car sooner.
Your hand appeared in his line of vision and Steve lifted his head up. You were crying, desperate for him to hold a part of you. Steve held your hand between his hands, kissing each one of your injured fingers.
"I am sorry. I am so sorry, (Y/N)." Steve mumbled, close to breaking down again.
"Thank you for saving me." You replied back, trying to clean some of the tears with your free hands. You wanted him to hug you, to hold you. You couldn't imagine what he had been through and just wanted to murmur that everything was okay, you both would be okay.
"If I lost you if somehow I didn't save you there, I-I don't know..." Steve confessed, holding your hand against his forehead, tears flowing down his eyes again.
"I am okay. You are okay, Steve." You comforted him between your sobs and without controlling himself, Steve got up from his chair, putting his arms over your shoulders.
It was really what you both needed at the moment. To embrace and to feel you were alive. You were going to be okay. You both were going to be okay.
Bonus:
Jerry got in the Emergency room later that afternoon with a bouquet in his hands. He had heard about your accident from a group message and felt he had to appear. Most of your co-workers had visited you already so he thought he had to show his face, show some sympathy and even cry a little bit if needed.
What surprised him was the number of firefighters in the waiting area. At first, he thought there was a fire going on in the hospital, but since he didn't see anyone screaming, running, or being evacuated, he asked for directions to your room.
What a nice boss he was, Jerry thought to himself. All he needed was a selfie with you in the hospital bed and it would make the directors see how benevolent and how much he cared for his employees.
Jerry knocked on the door and without waiting for any answer, opened it. Damn, you looked bad. He barely recognized with all the bandages around your head. You seemed to be asleep as well, so easy picture. Sitting by your side was a very tall and attractive fireman, with messed blonde hair and blue eyes. He looked as Jerry walked in.
"May I help you?"
Jerry noticed two other men, dressed in casual clothes. One was in the corner of the sofa, black hair, head against the sofa with his eyes closed. The other one was sitting on the edge of the sofa, behind the tall blonde one, his black eyes scanning Jerry up and down. All of those men were so attractive. You never told Jerry you had such sexy friends.
"Y-yes. Hi. My name is Jerry."
The two men waited.
"I am (Y/N)'s boss. I heard about the accident and decided to come to check on them. They don't look very well, so I brought flowers" Jerry announced, slowly getting close to the bed. There were flowers everywhere and get-well cards.
The tall blonde one was up from the chair before Jerry could get closer to the bed.
"I don't think you should be here, Jerry." The dark-eyed one said, getting up as well. Jerry gulped, confused.
"I-I don't know..."
"I don't know if it is your fault or not, Jerry." said the one that had his eyes closed. He lifted up his face from the sofa, his blue eyes piercing him with disgust " But everyone in this room has been kinda pissed off with the asshole that almost killed our friend. And since we can't take on him since he is in jail and (Y/N) was working late because of you, well..."
"It is not my fault this accident happened! I didn't make them work so late!" Jerry tried to justify and he didn't even know why. It wasn't his fault you have gotten yourself into an accident, anyway.
"You are lying. They had been working late because of you. (Y/N) woke up and told me about the project." The blonde tall one said, dangerously getting close to him.
Jerry's soul had instantly left his body. He felt his legs trembling as he had three pairs of angry eyes at him. He could try to run but what about those firefighters outside? It was clear they were there for you. He was screwed.
"It is not my fault, okay?! (Y/N) has been clumsy for so long, never looking where they are going. It was a matter of time before something like this would happen. If I lose my job Monday because of them, I will, I will..."
Jerry felt being pulled by his shirt and shoved against a wall, the bouquet falling to the ground. The tall blonde one was holding him there, staring at him as if he could kill him. Jerry's legs were trembling even more as he saw the other men get up. Oh, he was so freaking screwed. He closed his eyes, whimpering in fear.
"He isn't even worth it, Steve."
Steve held him there for a few more seconds, before letting him go. Jerry had to hold into the wall to not fall to the ground.
"Get the fuck out of here." Steve warned, his voice low. Then he turned away from Jerry, his attention going back to you.
Jerry didn't need to hear twice. He ran away from that hospital, cursing you and your extremely sexy friends mentally. When you got back to work, if you ever did, he had some questions to make you.

30 Day Writing Challenge: Day 5
SCAR WORSHIP
a month out from the night she killed Richie and Sam has relapsed into bad habits to forget him.
inspired by a scene from the film The Glass Castle.
references from my one-shot "you're my good girl."
“Wasn’t that hard for me to find you in Modesto. It wasn’t that hard for me to fuck you, either.”
As much bullshit as Richie had told Sam that night he broke her heart, that single taunt was the one that tore her, infuriated her, and humiliated her all at the same time. Slut-shaming. After he changed her, turned her around, made her into something more than what she was running around Modesto like a street dog, he fucking slut-shamed her. And she couldn’t do anything about it to defend herself.
“But I guess being a sexually available woman is supposed to be empowering, these days.”
“Fuck you.”
She already did that. She fucked him. He fucked her. So, what was saying that supposed to do? Nothing. It didn’t do a damn thing but keep her up at night.
It wasn’t easy to come out of that fake relationship. But it had been easy that night. It had been easy to stab him 22 times in the chest, destroying the heart she could’ve sworn had beat for her. It had been easy to slit his throat, silencing all the words he ever said to her. It had been easy to shoot him twice, cursing the body that had straddled hers beneath him countless nights. It had been easy to shoot him in the head, turning her loose from his memory, even in the afterlife.
It had been easy to walk away. Easy to wash his blood off her skin. Easy to leave that single night behind.
And then the adrenaline wore off. Tara started to get better. The life she knew for 5 years was traded for a life that lasted 6 months, then changed for 3 days, and now she was trading lives again for a period of time she’d hoped would last forever but couldn’t trust would.
It had been a month since the night everything had happened. For a while, she didn’t care, just focused on Tara and making amends with her. But with things settling down, she wasn’t the same. Not the kind that someone would expect from going through something as traumatic as the Ghostface murders of 2022, but in the way that she started to feel the effects of losing someone that she actually loved.
Richie was the first person in 5 years that acted like he truly cared and truly loved her. Even though it was fake, it felt real to her. Yes, he was acting—using her just for a fucked-up character in his movie—but along the way, he treated her right. He had been the one to help her get clean of drugs, smoking, and drinking. He was the one who showed her what in-love sex felt like rather than being-used sex. He was there every night she couldn’t let go and every day she felt like she was losing herself. He’d groomed her to be dependent on him, and she was. The time period they had before he was revealed to be a backstabber, quite literally, she had leaned on him for comfort. He checked on her, reassured her, hugged her, kissed her, held her hand, rubbed her back, through it all, he had given her a sense of affection that she hadn’t gotten from anyone in years.
He was the first person in 5 years to love her again, because no one else did. Her stepfather left, her mother resented her, her sister had moved on, everyone else wanted sex—she was on her own. She was all she had. Her real father claimed to help her, train her, advise her, but it just felt like destructive criticism every time. She didn’t want him in her life. She didn’t want the truth in her life, but it was, and it had cost her everything she’d ever known.
She gained Tara back now. But Tara needed her own space to heal.
She mourned Richie. She hated Richie. Together, they formed a new breed of beast.
And she dealt with it, the process making her feel the most human she had felt since before she found out Billy Loomis was her father. It also made her feel the most careless since before she met Richie. She started relapsing into old habits—habits of her teenage years. She went out at night, mainly just to take a walk and clear her head, but she didn’t shy away from challenges when they arose. In fact, she played other people’s—specifically guys—temptations just to destroy what she had with Richie. They were all the same, but only half of them knew who she was. They saw it as an opportunity, something to brag about, to their buddies that they had gotten frisky with Billy Loomis’ daughter. She was a name they could put on their long list of women they had made out with.
Except hers was in red.
The thing was, she felt sick doing it. She played along with their disgusting intentions, just to find something else to hate herself for, rather than falling for the man she’d killed.
However, 5 reckless years of being thrown to the wolves had left her most vulnerable area an utter mess. Every man had a different way of enjoying sexual intercourse. Some had liked it short and sweet, and some had liked it long and steady. Some had liked to let their corresponding parts be the only thing that had the fucking pleasure of entering her body, and some had liked anything else but. Some had liked to make her moan and whine, and some had liked to make her scream and groan. Some had liked to tease her, and some had liked to tear her apart. Some had liked to leave her clean, and some had liked to leave her bleeding.
She looked worse down there than the scar tattooed in its ugly, healing fashion on the lower left side of her abdomen.
Richie was the only one that never criticized her for it. Never made her feel overused or shameful. And it was all a fucking lie. One even bigger than the one she kept from the world.
So, she knew what she was doing, even though she knew she shouldn’t be doing it. She hated herself for it, but she hated the hurt that she felt even more, when she remembered everything Richie ever did to her, said to her, and was for her. That made the night everything changed play over and over and over again in her mind. So, she did it anyway, because it was the only way she knew how to deal with shit: forget what you had with something else and move on.
She never found interest, or pleasure, or desire in any of them. To her, they were all just other guys. She’d never be another’s one and only. She was just lonely.
It always started the same: a catcall or a wolf whistle, then a talk, and then to wherever the night took her and whoever she was with. Sometimes she instigated it, sometimes she didn’t. She chose her battles well. And tonight, she had decided to follow the other’s lead. The other, who was named Juniper, led her to his apartment, which was only a block away from where they met.
That’s where things had stirred up, gotten heated, gotten frisky. That’s where they were now…
Sam felt Juniper hold her close to him as he laid her down on his bed. This part never failed to make her heart pound, which was weird considering she’d done this countless times. She watched him carefully with her dark eyes as he straddled her beneath him, and his face went to flank the right side of hers. She heard him inhale deeply, then felt his nose brush up her jawline.
“Just relax, baby girl,” he whispered into her ear.
God, it made her cringe inside, her teeth clenching behind her lips as his fingertips gliding across her stomach made it convulse. She couldn’t stand pet names like that, not when it came from people like him. It was insulting and infuriating, like she was needy and uncomposed. If she was either of those, she’d be dead already. She released a strained exhale that almost sounded like a hiss, which made him chuckle. She could feel his breath on her neck.
“Someone’s sensitive, huh?” He teased her by slipping his fingers beneath her high-rise beltline and stroking her lower abdomen.
Samantha bucked instinctively, a low growl emitting from her larynx as she pulled her face away from his whispers. This happened every time: she forced herself into these situations and then couldn’t stand it when she was in them. She felt like a dog that became wary when someone got too close to their territory, her jaw trembling with the urge to twist over and bite him.
But then Juniper dipped towards the crook of her neck, trying to settle her back down with his straddling thighs and hand that left her torso to comb through her hair, “Easy, now…” He pressed his lips to her skin, placing a trail of slow kisses over her throat. “Don’t worry,” he spoke in between his affectionate gestures, “I’ll be gentle.”
She raised an eyebrow, forcing herself to keep her neck open to his pleasure, whilst keeping her spine pressed into the mattress. “So, you’re a man of many deeds?” she asked.
He made it up to her cheek, before he stopped to meet her gaze. She didn’t seem fazed, but she didn’t seem unfazed either. She was tough, he could tell just by seeing her on the street. Never smiled, never expressed anything that wasn’t relevant, never gave herself away. He had to do that for himself. But that’s the way he liked his girls. He chuckled and brushed her cheek with the back of his hand. “Something like that,” he replied, then trailed his hand down to one finger that traced her jawline to raise her chin up to meet him the way he wanted. “I just know how to treat the good girls and punish the naughty ones.”
This raised a red flag, one that drew something back to the one person she was trying to get out of her mind, but she didn’t let him notice that. She kept it casual, bringing her hand up to knock his control away from her chin, “In other words, you’ve got a little bit of a mean streak.” He smirked, which made her pull her own. “So do I.”
“Oh, really?” He dropped his pelvis to have it brush against hers, while he took her hand in his to pull her arm up over her head. “So, are you gonna punish me then, sweetheart?”
She forced a smile, but her tone was close to bitter. “Oh, darling, I don’t punish…” The other arm that wasn’t pinned above her head came up to sling around his back, fighting the urge to sink her nails into his shirt and rip it from his frame. “I avenge,” she corrected.
There was a gleam in her eye that took away the submissive nature she showcased. It was strange, a little insane, but Juniper just took it for lust as he dipped closer to her. “Then show me how you avenge, Ms. Avenger,” he coaxed in a voice that was barely above a whisper.
And before she could say or do anything else, Sam was forced into a deep kiss. She went with it, exchanging the connection that was really broken inside. Her pinned wrist twisted, uncomfortable with the way it was handled, while her shoulders shifted to avoid her chest touching him. However, breathing was a necessity, and it actually changed his course.
He released her wrist to slide his hand down her arm and then to her clothed chest. Then, he crossed boundaries, enclosing her nearest breast in his hold.
A convulsing sensation drove into Sam’s throat, making it feel constricted, which in effect, made her give a soft grunt.
This pleased him, thinking it was a moan and led him to proceed in squeezing what was in his possession.
A flame of offense and humiliation flared up inside her body. Mindless, she dug her nails into his back and raked them off to his side. His hand left her chest, and his lips broke away from hers, leaving them both in a light pant. She stared at him, unable to hide the defensive glare in them.
“Damn, baby, you really that impatient?”
She didn’t say anything, a million thoughts too loud in her head to even comprehend how he got impatience out of her.
What was she doing?
But he smiled a devilish smile anyways and backtracked to a conversation ago. “You’re gonna be a good girl, right?”
And just like that, everything stopped. Her heart, her breath, her mind.
‘ “But you can be a good girl, right?” ’
“Yeah…” Juniper purred, now that she had settled, “You’re gonna be a good girl.” He moved in for another kiss.
‘ “You’re a good girl, Sam.” ’
The very first night.
They kissed again, his hand traveling to the button on her jeans to undo it.
What was she doing?
Sam snapped out of this trance that kept her in this toxic behavior. Nothing had ever hit her the way this night did. No one had ever said something so close to the start… to her heart.
What was she doing?
Not this. She couldn’t do this anymore. She was better than this. She wasn’t the same person that she was 6 months ago, and she wasn’t the same person she was a month ago. She had just regressed, trapping herself into the bad habits that got her through the first time. Deception from her mother. Heartbreak from her stepfather. Moving on from Tara. Richie had given her all three in one night, so going back after losing all distractions from him was almost something she couldn’t control.
But she was not the same person that did all of those things she shouldn’t have, and she had the scar to prove it. Difference. Tragedy. Resentment. Defiance. She could prove it with one look at that red slash hidden beneath the high waist of her jeans… which Juniper was unbuckling now.
“Hey, hey,” she raised her voice to catch his attention, grabbing his arm with an authoritative grip. They locked eyes and she softened her demeanor a little.
‘ “You’re my good girl.” ’
Richie.
She needed to get out. And stay out.
“Let me do it,” she told him, her voice much softer and calmer than it had been all night. And then she initiated another kiss, leaning up to hold the back of his neck.
He gladly obliged, a delighted moan coming from behind his lips as he let her take control. She held him there, pushing herself up to switch their positions as she leaned him in the opposite direction. He held her around the waist, and she held his shoulders, the bed creaking beneath them as he became the inferior one. That’s when she ripped him away from her, pushing him down into the sheets to pin him.
He was taken aback a little by this, but judging by the toned muscle he noticed in her arms, he couldn’t say he was surprised.
She straddled his hips with her knees as she sat back to give herself away. Her eyes were dark, like a prey to predator, as she eyed his pleasured expression.
“Alright,” he chuckled, “here we go.”
Samantha tugged her black tank top up a sliver, giving her more access to the zipper that came after her already-undone button. She never took her eyes off him. Cool air bathed the exposed skin of her torso as she tugged the left side of the split down, watching as he went to look at what he expected would be her underwear.
But he stopped. “Oh…”
And she knew why. “Mm-hmm.”
It was appalling, the fresh scar that was trying to heal… Like herself.
“My ex-boyfriend stabbed me a month ago, because my father was a famous serial killer,” she explained, her composure dangerously kept together. He just stared. “He tried to kill me and my sister, but I stopped him.”
Juniper was speechless, his top-dog attitude blurred into a hybrid of shock and what almost seemed to be fear. “H-how…?”
“I stabbed him 22 times in the chest and slit his throat. And then I shot him in the head.” But what he was looking at wasn’t the most shocking part. It was what he wanted to see, the part that was a reflection of how bad having a serial killer as a father had fucked her up. The reflection of betrayal. The reflection of a reckless nature. The reflection of what she would become with a killer’s instinct running through her veins. But she had let it happen. She tugged her jeans down a little more to reveal her undergarments. “It gets worse down there,” she gestured to the area.
Juniper didn’t know what to do or say, still dumbfounded by the fact that she had brutally killed her ex-boyfriend and had him straddled, like she was about to end his life as well. If her father was a murder, who’s to say she wasn’t?
But Sam didn’t run down that road. She was a defender, not a killer. She did what she had to do, when she had to do it. She pulled her jeans back up and fixed them appropriately. “I’m gonna go now.” She didn’t wait for a reply as she excused herself, climbing off of him in one swift motion.
The sound of the door slamming and the feel of the night breeze made the reality of all of these wasted nights hit her. No one knew that she had been out doing this from time to time, but she shouldn’t have done it. Everyone thought she was stalking the streets to clear her head, and she was but in the wrong way.
She didn’t need to throw herself away to forget.
She didn’t need to fake anything or tear herself apart to entertain to forget.
She didn’t need a memory of the man that took everything from her, because she truly thought they would stay together and last forever, until the end of time.
She just needed…
Her phone rang. She pulled it out and found the caller ID.
‘Tara’
She just needed Tara.
She picked it up. “Hey, Tara. Are you okay?”
“Yeah, fine. But are you okay? You’ve been gone a long time. You shouldn’t be out this late.”
“I know. And I’m fine, don’t worry—”
“Well, are you coming home now?” Tara cut her off.
Was she coming home now?
“Is that where you are?” Sam asked, visualizing her sister sitting in the chair next to the sofa, content, while Mindy watched some movie she’d probably already seen a thousand times.
After they had been released from the hospital, Martha had insisted the sisters stay with her and the twins until they were able to get by on their own. Tara always sat in the chair, because that’s where Amber had always sat when she would go over there.
Her younger sister hesitated. “Uh… yeah?” she answered as if indirectly saying ‘is that a trick question?’
Sam nodded. “Then, I’m on my way.” She hung up the phone and broke into a run, outrunning that night, outrunning her DNA, outrunning Richie’s control over her, outrunning anything that would keep her from what really mattered.
A house wasn’t her home. Tara was.
Tumblr media
just my interpretation of how Sam felt about Richie. I feel like she did suffer some sort of heartbreak, because there are so many small things that I picked up in Scream V. but maybe that's just me. also, this made a lot more sense in my head, so if you're lost, don't worry we're friends, I'll find you.
for all the Melissa stans out there, y'all should know where I got Juniper from lol, sorry not sorry.
All my best ♡ - parker

The Call is Coming From Inside the House
Summary: The team watches horror movie to see which is the most messed up of all time.
 Written for: @buckybarnesbingo
 Words: 1163
 Square Filled: U2- FUBAR
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader
Warnings: Mentions of horror movie violence
A/N: If you’ve watched any of the movies I’ve mentioned, you’ll know exactly what I’m referring to
It started off with a conversation about horror movies. Everyone had their own opinion on which was the most messed up of all.
“I’m telling you, it’s the Re-Animator Trilogy. There’s just a level of misogyny that’s not even in the original H. P. Lovecraft story,” you protested.
“No way. The Saw movies are way more FUBAR than those cheaply done flicks of the 80’s,” Clint argued.
“Are you kidding, Clint? Some of the best franchises came out of the 80’s. Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Aliens, Friday the 13th just to name a few. Not to mention The Thing. I mean, that was pretty messed up if you ask me,” Nat chimed in.
“Guys, the foreign market has way more messed up movies than those. Just look at Last Train to Busan for example. Then the original Japanese copies of The Grudge and The Ring,” Tony countered.
Steve and Bucky had no idea what anyone was on about. Back in their day, horror movies were a lot more sedated in their day. Movies with the likes of Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr. who were all masters of the craft without going over the top.
“Well, there’s only one way we’re going to settle this… we’re going to have to watch them all,” you suggested.
So began your mega movie marathon, starting with the 1982 classic The Thing. Bucky thanked all his lucky stars that in all his time fighting aliens, he never came against one so disturbing. Then again, he hadn’t visited Outpost 13 in Antarctica…
“You know, I once saw a Pingu version of this movie,” you stated.
 “You lie,” Clint huffed.
“It’s not a lie. Apparently it was pulled from YouTube for being too messed up and I think licencing also had something to do with it being pulled as well,” you explained.
Before Clint could argue, Tony butted in.
“No, she’s right,” he said, bringing up the video on the big screen. “It’s supposed to be a parody on both…”
The video was much shorter than the movie but no less creepy, maybe even more so given that it was based on a children’s show. After that, you watched the first of the Re-Animator Trilogy. When it came to what was perhaps the most messed up scene of the movie, Bucky and Steve couldn’t stand to watch. You followed them out too as it was your least favourite scene.
“You actually like that stuff?” Bucky asked, feeling rather queasy.
“That scene in particular? No, I can’t say I do. It has nothing to do with the original story. When I first read there was a movie based on it, I thought it was cool but then I was totally blindsided by that scene. I read up on it and their first choice in actress had to back out because her mother didn’t want her doing it. The scene was taxing on the actor and cost him his marriage… I like certain elements of horror; the jump scares, the suspense, the complex characters and clever use of practical effects but stuff like that I feel is completely unnecessary…”
Bucky nodded slowly. When you put it like that, it made sense. He too liked a story with a good plot and decent characters but when it came to stuff like that… Before Bucky could say any more, Sam called letting you know that the awful part was over and you could return to the living room.
After watching all three movies (the others agreed the third was the weakest in the trilogy), it was getting late. You decided to squeeze in one last movie before going to bed which was the first of the Saw movies. Bucky felt sick to his stomach at the gory scenes. He had been trained in torture techniques as a part of HYDRA but this was some next level stuff. Feeling overwhelmed, Bucky walked out. You decided to follow him.
“You can go back and watch the movie if you want,” Bucky sighed as you stood next to him.
“I think I’d much hang out with you,” you confessed.
Bucky smiled softly at you. Before he could say anything further, the power was cut. Instinctively, you reached for Bucky’s hand as he pulled you closer to his body. Part Avengers training, part paranoia from the movies, you were both on edge, preparing for danger. The power went back on just as suddenly as it went out.
“Sorry, everyone. There was tripped power switch,” Tony explained.
The pair of you sighed in relief, still holding each other as the adrenaline coursing through you started to calm down.
“I think… I think I might just go to bed,” Bucky sighed.
“Actually, that sounds like a good idea,” you agreed.
“Could you… stay with tonight? After all those horror movies, I… I don’t want to be alone,” Bucky confessed.
“I understand that,” you softly smiled. “Of course, I’ll stay…”
Bucky smiled back and held your hand as you headed to his room.
“Hey, you two. You know one of the top rules about horror movies. The couple who goes off together usually are one of the first to get picked off,” Sam teased.
You flipped him off as you passed by, making everybody laugh and relieving some of the tension built up by the movie.
After you both got changed, you and Bucky cuddled in his bed.
“Are you okay, Bucky?” you asked, noticing how quiet he was.
 “Yeah… it’s just… today was a lot… I’m not used to that much violence…”
“You’re an Avenger,” you stated, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, but that’s different. That’s… action violence not… you know…”
You cuddled close to him, making him smile.
“I think I understand… There’s only a certain amount of that kind of thing I can watch in a day too… horror movies can be fun and all but I like them in small doses…”
“Do you want to watch kid’s cartoons until we fall asleep?” you asked.
“That sounds nice… Not Pingu though. Still feeling a little scarred from that last movie.”
“Fair enough,” you laughed, putting on a light and cute cartoon.
So that was how your horror movie marathon ended; with you and Bucky peacefully falling asleep to something more wholesome. The next day, the others wanted to continue but you and Bucky turned them down. You both decided to have a movie marathon of your own that was a little sweeter and more comfortable and a whole less FUBAR. If it meant cuddling with Bucky, you wouldn’t ask for it any other way.

so I never learned my lesson about getting attached to supernatural characters that aren't Sam and Dean so Jack became my late in the game new favorite and I am outraged by how badly the narrative treated him!
truly the most heinous shit happens to him constantly, and it's never even about his character development or story arc because the writers don't care enough to give him his own arc. like I said on that other post season 13 is entirely about traumatizing as much as possible as fast as possible (because that's the only way they know to make characters interesting) while also using him to advance the plot with all the apocalypse world Lucifer vs. Michael round 2 stuff.
then in season 14 the overarching plot is so weak and all over the place that it barely even feels like they're using him for that so much as hurting Jack to hurt Sam and Dean and Cas. he gets sick so they have to go through the pain of losing a child. it's discussed in those terms way more than how Jack feels about it is brought up. he gets brought back with the Lilly Sunder spell so they'll have to grapple with whether risking his soul to save his life was the right call. they say they're going to let him decide but the whole situation with the empty makes it so he doesn't really have any options while also letting them set up Cas dying/destiel confession in what should be an episode about Jack.
him choosing to burn out his soul to kill Michael and save the others could have been a big moment for him, but the way they wrote him up to that point made it a little unclear if he fully understood how dangerous loosing his soul could be (which I mean is fair. his only reference for someone without a soul is Donatello who was always nice to him, Jack wasn't born yet for soulless Sam or Amara leaving a bunch of soulless people around, and he was in apocalypse world when Donatello went crazy. he's physically 18ish and chronologically 2 so as much as he's a smart person and not actually a baby you can't really expect him to have the best understanding of consequences and his own mortality. him not fully getting the risk could also be interesting for his character but they didn't commit to that either, they just had him say he got it while repeatedly using his powers and never seeming all that concerned about it.) the show focuses so much more on the Winchesters and Cas being worried and guilty about his soul than having Jack react to or deal with that loss.
and then he kills Mary. the one thing he was always afraid of, the one thing he never wanted to do, was hurt his family. and the writers made him lose control for one second and kill one of the most important people in his life and break the hearts of all the other people he loves. and again it's all about hurting Sam and Dean to drive them to try and contain or kill him, while also driving a wedge between Dean and Cas. like of course, of course, that's devastating for Sam and Dean, I'm not trying to minimize that. but even after Jack gets his soul back his trauma and grief around it are never addressed. even his guilt is only touched on so far as it's the motivation for him sacrificing himself for them again. directly afterwards when talking to Rowena and imaginary Lucifer he's horrified and maybe not sad or guilty exactly (no soul) but he obviously understands the magnitude of what he did. but then for some reason when he's talking to Sam and Dean in Jack in the Box he's very casual and dismissive, all like well it was an accident, anyway let's move on. that scene is really the only time he acts like a lot of the other soulless characters. for the most part he seems to understand emotions and morals much better than anyone else without a soul, and almost feel a little even if it's not the same as someone with a soul. (I think the angel grace mitigates some of the effects of not having a soul. angels don't have souls but do have the capacity to feel and tell right from wrong. Jack tells Donatello that he feels different but doesn't feel nothing, and I think that's because the emotions coming from the grace are different than the ones from a soul and it takes practice to identify and develop them to be as strong as what he was used to.) it feels like between Mary acting pretty out of character during her last scene and Jack being so weird about it when he talks to the boys I suspect Chuck was supposed to have been meddling before he actually showed back up, but they never outright say that. regardless they fridged Mary Winchester for the second time and forced Jack through his worse nightmare because they needed to motivate Dean with pain.
his second death was explicitly meant to punish the rest of team free will. Dean couldn't and wouldn't kill Jack, so Chuck did it to hurt his dad's. they wouldn't play his little game so Jack had to die so they'd learn their lesson about defying him. even when he was dead his corpse gets puppeted around to hurt the others. like I also like belphegor as a character, he's bitchy and funny, but narratively making him possess Jack's body was just a way to hurt Cas specifically. (Sam and Dean were way less bothered. maybe the whole casifer situation had numbed them a bit to the horror of working with something evil that has your loved ones face for the greater good.)
then when he comes back it's all "kill yourself to save the world" which is a pretty common plot point for supernatural, but it's also "die to absolve your sins, it's the only way Dean will ever forgive you" which I find significantly more fucked up. and then that plan fails, and Cas dies so Jack loses the only parent who never gave up on him, and then he becomes God.
and Jack becoming god is like...it doesn't really work any of the themes of the show, and it also is the worst way to end his story. he's always been powerful, but he's only ever cared about that in as much as his powers can help his family. when he loses them he's upset because he can't protect the people he loves anymore, not because he isn't special or whatever. all he wants is to be with the people he loves without having to worry about his powers hurting them. and the end they came up with for his story is to get a massive power boost and have to leave his family so he can "be everywhere" or whatever. it's so dumb!
this post got super long, and I'm sure that people have already said all of this better than me, but it's driving me nuts. I just love Jack so much, he's such a good character, and supernatural has so many instances of wasted potential, but Jack's story could have been amazing if there were more than three or four episodes that treated him as an actual character instead of a plot device or a prop for other characters stories.

Ooooo ~~ what is the Phoenix initiative about?
The Phoenix Initiative has been my personal project for the last few years. I'm doing some major revamping on it. It started as a pilot script and I'm looking at reformatting it into a set of serialized novellas and short stories to essentially mimic short films and episodes, but in a prose format (though I would like to circle back to the screenplay format eventually for it).
Because of *spoilers*, the prose formatting actually starts a lot earlier than the screenplays. (Also, fair warning, summaries are the bane of my existence.) It follows a covert operative named Sam Henderson who works for the Surripere Coalition, a shadow organization with deep ties both in the private and public sectors. When the story opens, she and her boss have lost a handful of high-value recruits to a man referred to as The Ghost, who essentially runs a black market version of the witness protection program. If someone's in trouble, but can't go to the authorities, they go to The Ghost to disappear. Sam and The Ghost (Lucas Finley) are in a competitive cat and mouse type game with each other, both having gleaned a little bit of knowledge about the other and trying to use it to get the upper hand.
The story centers around them at the heart of it and the relationship that is built between them, as well as peeling back layers of the Coalition that Sam works for.
That summary feels very all over the place, but part of that is because of the restructuring. I feel like I've taken a very detailed puzzle and tossed it up in the air, and now I'm trying to find a new format for it. The pieces are there and I know them, but now it's time to find a new angle to approach the story from. I think I can blame working on A Flicker of Light a little bit for it... I have a habit of jumping straight into the chaos in stories, which is great for individual episodes and scenes, but I've really been learning how to let a story breathe through A Flicker of Light, and I think that's an angle I want to really focus on with The Phoenix Initiative and allow for these characters to really have some time to grow together.
Thanks for sending in an ask about this! Especially in the place that I am now with it, it helps to try to focus the explanation in to make sense to someone that hasn't been following the creation of the pilot episode :D
I have tons of odds and ends and chatter under the hashtag Phoenix Initiative on my account from the creation and writing of the pilot episode as well as the mapping out of the story in case you or anyone else is interested. As I intentionally try to split my writing time between in and AFoL, I'll likely be posting more about it again!

So I’ve just started watching Supernatural season 11 and I’m about twenty minutes into episode two and I was wondering your take on Sam here. I just passed him praying acknowledging that he is the reason that a lot of people are dying. But he’s also stated, in the previous episode, that he’d do it again in a heartbeat. So I guess I was wondering your thoughts on this? And if you feel like the actions differ from previous ones in that Sam is willing to sacrifice potentially thousands of people just so he doesn’t have to lose Dean. In the past they’ve been willing to sacrifice themselves or hurt demons, but even with saying no to the archangels it was in part to stop a larger amount of casualties. Also I was curious to your opinion on the “cure” angle which felt to me as a way to be like ‘see sam isn’t a bad guy sure he caused this but he doesn’t want to hurt anyone else he wants to help’ even though be doing that more people potentially get infected and die in the process.
Hello, and thanks for the ask! (And idk if you've been here before or not, but welcome regardless!)
The delay in response is largely because I went back and skimmed through the transcripts for episodes 1 and 2 of the season, as well as past conversation with friends, to see what I said then and remember my opinion on this... and damn but I remember all this now and I thank you for the opportunity to respond! I'll probably address your points slightly out of order, if that's okay! (And apologies in advance; this turned out longer than I thought... here's a keep reading :) )
First, re. my general opinions about Sam in these episodes. This section pissed me off when I first watched it. (For reference, I wasn't live-reacting to the show; instead, I would watch the show, then go to Discord and rant at @typicalopposite about all the things that --- positively or negatively --- stuck with me. And ranting about s11 eps 1 and 2 took at least half an hour without her responding, more so if you add in her responses.) Warning for spoilers to the end of episode two; it's been way more than 20 minutes since this ask, so I'm hoping that's not a problem!
For one thing, he ticked me off with his dumb talk about "when did we change, Dean? Since when do we shoot first, ask questions later" with all the zombie apocalypse level shit going down. In zombie film archetypes, he's totally the annoying pacifist who views zombies as people too and then gets people killed as a result. AND hides his injury to the point that he starts turning and could, in theory, end up infecting someone. Yeah, it ends/ended up working out here, but that doesn't make it good logic/decision making, and, in a supernatural contagion like the one they were facing, they should not have tried for the luxury of a cure. Indeed, Sam probably got way more people killed in the meantime than he actually saved. And I'm not sure what he meant by, "I'm gonna do what I do best, Dean," but, whatever was actually meant, I find it immensely amusing that the line was followed by Sam drinking monster blood and then lying about it to his brother. Yes, I recognize that this was not the same as the Ruby situation, but the (probably accidental) implication is interesting.
It also pissed me off that they keep running with this idea of "we broke this." Like, no, false, full-stop, we did not break this. Dean repeatedly said he didn't want you do to what you were doing. NOWHERE did he say he wanted it to happen. He was actually taking steps to not break the whole thing. The only culpability Dean has in the MOC not being dealt with without releasing Amara is that he took that swing at Death (and that only happened because he couldn't kill Sam, or let Death kill Sam). But that wasn't even what removed the Mark? Rowena et al. working behind the scenes is what removed the Mark. And she was working under Sam's... idk, request? threat? supervision? Fill-in-the-blank, you know what I mean. "We" did not break anything; Sam broke the thing.
Which brings me to your point about Sam acknowledging that he's the reason people are dying but also being willing to do it again, and about his actions differing from the past... I'm honestly not fully sure.
In some ways, his insistence on removing the Mark (and staying to find a cure) is in-character. He's often depicted--- though not always (cough cough: Benny, Emma, the other characters he inexplicably decided weren't human enough to receive the same repeated chances he gave everyone else) --- as believing in nurture over nature. Just being a supernatural isn't the same as being automatically evil. And, if he stuck to that, it'd, frankly, be an admirable stance to take. (But, again, he doesn't stick to it --- especially whenever a non-human character is getting mutually close to his brother.) And, in this case, he refused to believe that Dean was ever "too far gone" to be cured, so... that tracks.
It also bears mentioning... Sam has a habit of taking action because he feels guilty, and that guilt leading him to not consider the consequences. Take post-s3-finale-through-s4, for example: Dean's gone, and he feels guilty about it, so he takes on his ill-advised-and-poorly-handled attack against Lilith, which ends up starting the apocalypse. (And let it be known that, for all I'm a Sam anti, I do recognize that he wasn't wrong in going after Lilith. He, Dean, Bobby, etc; they all thought that killing Lilith was the way to go. My problem with him is a) how he did it and b) how he treated his brother throughout the entire arc. Not the action. However, it's still an example of his guilt driving him into something that caused a lot of people harm.) So, in that sense, getting rid of the Mark continues tobe pretty in character. I don't know if it started out normal or not. (e.g. I could see that Sam felt guilty about the fact that Dean took on the MOC because he was cruising along in his, frankly, vaguely suicidal mindset after Sam cut him off, but I'm not sure I remember the scenes well enough to know if Sam's intent focus on finding a way to take off the Mark stems from that guilt, or idealism, or codependency.) Regardless, after Charlie, curing the MOC becomes less about curing the Mark and more about him working off the guilt about her death.
And, stemming off of that, this is another instance of him telling himself that he's doing something for his brother when he's really not. s4: he goes on a revenge quest to take down Lilith "for Dean" despite Dean coming back, being right there, and asking him not to. s10, pre-Charlie: he decides to take off the Mark even after Dean says he doesn't want him to do so. (I admit that this is an iffier situation because, like with Sam's Gadreel thing, there's the question of whether MOC!Dean has medical authority over non-MOC!Dean... but still.) s10, post-Charlie: he continues trying to take off the Mark despite Dean very explicitly and without any qualifications saying he doesn't want him to. Etc.
So, on the one hand, Sam's actions regarding the Mark --- and his actions regarding the zombie-virus-adjacent cure --- are kinda in-line with past behavior.
The line you isolated about how he'd "do it again in a heartbeat" (or whatever the actual quote was), however, is unusual. Usually, Sam spends the aftermath of a plan going wrong angsting about how much damage it did, with 0 ostensible willingness to do it again. No matter how committed he was to that path ahead of time, and no matter how many times he follows that same path (with different specifics) again later, he at least claimed that his guilt was so powerful that he'd never act similarly, he'd changed, etc. After the s4 finale, for an example, he apologizes more-or-less nonstop for some of it, etc. This time, though, he's blatantly saying that he'd do it again. And, for all he feels guilty, he's, for once, recognizing that he doesn't feel guilty enough to not do it again, and he's coming to terms with what that means. That feels different from his character in the past.
And, secondarily, the difference between this action and his past actions is that they knew removing the Mark would cause problems. With Lilith? Like I said, they didn't know it would cause problems. It's not really a surprise that he didn't stop because they thought it was the right course of action, and he always thinks he knows the best way to go. With the archangels, saying yes was a clear path to death and destruction, so it's, again, not really a surprise they both said no.
But here? (And, btw, I've made a previous post comparing the MOC situation to the Gadreel situation --- basically arguing that Dean gets vilified for Gadreel while Sam gets away with MOC no problem, called Actions of the Greater Greater Good, if you wanna check it out --- and I'm borrowing some of the wording here.) Good, bad, and neutral characters alike had warned them against taking off the Mark; these include but are not limited to: Cas, Rowena, Crowley, kinda Charlie, the Book of the Damned itself, Dean (through the Mark), the Styne family, eventually even Death itself. Sam also had to work with Rowena (clearly suspect with bad motives at that point) and drive off a high-powered ally (Crowley) in the process, while working with a book tied to dark forces. And so on. There was no "whoa, however could we have known that this was going to cause wide-scale problems", or, at least, there shouldn't have been. Sam knew what the costs could be and went on anyway.
That's the real character shift. He's actively taking on the consequences --- and potentially harming multitudes as a result --- instead of accidentally stumbling into it. So, yes, I do think his actions here are vaguely out of character; not in the fact that he did what he did, but that he did what he did knowing what could happen as a result.
Which is --- to attend to your final point about the cure, and to borrow your wording --- why I agree with you about it's a way to say "see sam isn’t a bad guy sure he caused this but he doesn’t want to hurt anyone else he wants to help." He's doing the whole try-to-do-something-good-to-counteract-his-guilt thing, and it's once again quite possibly causing problems (since we've no clue how many people he actually saved, and how many people died because he was obsessed with the cure instead of saving people who hadn't been infected at all). It's annoying and naive, in my opinion, and it did not exactly endear me to his character.
I hope that was a vaguely coherent way of answering the ask... I've been rambling with my computer keys for so long that I'm not sure it makes any sense whatsoever, but I'm hoping it does... I'd love to hear back from you if you happen to have a response, but no pressure; all the best!

thought that i might as well say how i got into catb too. i was going through my 1975 phase in late 2021 and i’m pretty sure their songs got recommend to me cause i had 7, hourglass and cocoon in my likes songs and i was always listening to them. i didn’t think to listen anymore tho, but the band kept coming up on my insta explore page. so i knew that bob had left but i didn’t think much of it. i remember in december that year i was reading a 1975 fic on wattpad and there must’ve been a reference to oxygen cause all the comments were the lyrics to the chorus and someone mentioned catb so i thought i’d have a listen and omg i got so obsessed with that song. still one of my favs now. then eventually i listened to more of their music, then when i found out what van looked like i was even more obsessed ahaha.
and omg i’d just like to add, i’m so jealous of anyone that lives in the uk. i’m from australia😭, but i was in london the other day and it’s now my fav place. it’s mainly the fact that most of my fav bands and artists are british. so i’ve never had the experience of hearing their songs in public. but omg i heard hypersonic missiles and conversation and it’s just like the coolest thing ever for me. and i was buying inhaler vinyls cause i can’t get them in aus, and my mum made me take a pic outside the store with them and this girl came up to me and we just started talking about them. and none of my friends listen to my music either, so omg london is like my fav thing ever. and also all the references in songs, like west end and heathrow.
sorry this got insanely long, but i just wanted to add that i love your blog and fics so much!!
Hello lovely! Thank you so much 🥰
And thanks for sharing it’s so nice hearing from you guys and how you discovered the band. I love how there are still new fans popping up even after the break up and the fact that the music’s still out there getting all that love.
And Oxygen’s another underrated tune too (and often a fan non-favourite I feel) so it’s great how you properly discovered them through that song.
I’m actually jealous of you living in Australia! My friend emigrated out there years ago and she has such a good life out there, she loves it so much. But yeah I guess you can’t beat the music scene here, I think 90% of bands I like are British. Hope you had a great time visiting the UK. Maybe you could time a future visit for when one of the big festivals are on so you could see some of your faves? It’s great that you’re an Inhaler and Sam fan too, you’re in good company here.
Also it makes me giggle how we are all like this when we first see Van 😂

Twilight Marathon Girl again (sorry in advance for babbling). First: YES, Eclipse is the worst for all ships! To be fair to my mom, she saw the Jacob & Bella parts from New Moon before actually sitting down to watch the whole thing. I think she might have seen the scene where Edward ditches Bella, and then all her scenes with Jacob at that point are so nice. (Also Taylor & K have great chemistry, I admit it.) Bella calling her Jake and then my mom referring to him as Jake throughout the rest of the marathon!!! Plus, when Bella and Edward got married, during the dance scene you mentioned, she said: I was rooting for you but oh well *sigh* … it was so ksbjdvdjbdj 😭💜 I’ve always shipped Jacob with Leah tbh (currently searching for fics on ao3, I’m not kidding!) 🥺 And I totally get why you find Edward funny, back when I first read the books I just loved his “I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo” vibes (not when he does creepy stuff but more like when he lets Bella know how much he feels like he doesn’t belong) and how worried he was about not having a soul ??? Idk I’m a big weirdo too so maybe that’s why. I’ll stop here because I’m also very sleepy and writing nonsense now. But thank you for replying and letting me talk about it to someone who would ~get it~. 😽
Obsessed with your mom love that she ended up on a nickname-basis with Jake 😭 The New Moon scenes are persuasive what can I say!!
WAIT WE’RE TOTAL KINDRED SPIRITS!! I was SO sure Jacob was going to end up with Leah before I found out about the [redacted] twist!! They spend so much time on how Leah was screwed over by the imprinting process and how ugly it can turn (Emily and Sam, anyone?) and there’s that scene in the books where Jacob tries forcing himself to imprint on someone to cope with the Bella situation, I think it would’ve been so interesting to see Leah and Jacob reject the concept together (romantic or not, I see you Leah x femalereader posters, I think you have a strong case). Chosen connection over fated connection, a nice contrast to Bella x Edward! And if Stephenie felt the Renesmee imprinting plot was really necessary for tying up loose ends (it wasn’t), she could’ve just committed to the imprinting-is-about-being-who-the-imprintee-needs-not-necessarily-a-romantic-partner thing (in the books it’s like. “the imprintee doesn’t HAVE to end up with them, but who wouldn’t want that level of devotion!” 🫥).
And I know EXACTLY what you mean. The “I’m going to hell anyway 😎🤪” scene, the way he crouches like a 6th grader who read a “how to become a vampire” tutorial on wikihow the night before…don’t even get me started on him watching Bella eat a breadstick in Midnight Sun and thinking “We’re just like Hades and Persephone </3”.

Eleven things I noted about CR2E99 “High Seas, High Stakes”
No Talks Machina about it because of reasons (the fucking pandemic) :
Last episode before the 4 MONTHS (!!!) shutdown. Yeah yeah hindsight is 20/20, but still, it feels extremely weird to know this fact and just... suffering from the future for them in the past - but that's a little absurd too because I was there, Gandalf ! well not for CR I litterally started during lockdown. But. I was there for those 3 weirdest months of our lives, and I remember this feeling of waiting for something. To start again. And it never fully did. I don't know, this little silly fact of it being the last episode before Covid has been making me think.
I think I'll take a little break from Campaign 2, maybe watch the other contents which I wanted to see : the rest of Travis Willingham's Yeehaw Game Ranch, Between the Sheets, All Work No Play, UnDeadwood, etc. etc. Because my process was both fully enjoying my position from the future who does not have to suffer pauses or fandom bullshit, but also experience what the fandom was doing and thinking at the time, unfiltered by time. So yeah, a little break. Also I want to see this other content.
THEY DRESSED NICELY for their 5 years anniversary, oh it's amazing. And Sam's song was so lovely, sometimes he is the nicest.
Vess DeRogna ? What is that bitch doing here ? Love that she has a French accent like, yes, evil lady is French.
Did Fjord just... birthed a stone ? Like, litterally ?
Beau tastes the tea first before Caleb. Travis, who is not in the scene : "Because you're immune to poison ? (under his breath, amused) You piece of shit."
Beau looks like Caleb's tough bodyguard, and Matt reminisces fondly live on air that time Marisha "got in a dude's face before with that look, it's not pretty." This is so cute, and reminds me of that post I've seen where the OP was like "I'd kill a dude for Matthew Mercer" and someone replied "That's nice but Marisha Ray who is awesome and trained in martial arts, would kill the dude herself" TRUTH
At the break, they played like usual the D&D Beyond ad, but with Ashley singing it a capella. BRILLIANT. Oh, there was also videos of the cast thanking the fans for 5 years of crazy. So cute ! Sam has a lot of shirts.
Beau, a useless lesbian, about Jester's sunburn : "Wow, it's weird, you get a little purple-ish when you get a sunburn. It's super cute. (reminds herself that she promised herself she won't do anything about her crush) I mean... it's deadly ! You could get sick from that !"
They did not let this go and I love them for it ! (Matt hates them) :
Tumblr media
If anyone asks, this is a reference to the episode where the horns sounds Matt made were made fun of by the cast in CR1, the episode where they were at Fort Daxio I believe ?
A DRAGON TURTLE ??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME, THAT'S THE CLIFFHANGER THEY DIDN'T KNOW WAS COMING ???? (I fucking love giant turtles that are small islands ever since I saw one in Avatar The Last Airbender)

adskjadkjas, thank you for the follow, Sam!! I feel honored, cause your renders are amazing!! Also, congrats on the writing of 2,000 words!! That's a lot of words!! (my piecemeal draft of my story just hit 22k, and that's after over 6 months of writing it. So 2k in a day is really impressive!!)
Can I have some facts about Cheese, please? Is he clingy? Does he like belly rubs, or does he attack the boys when they go to pet his belly? Is he a lap cat? What does he do when it thunders? Does he have any "unusual" cat habits? (ie: plays fetch or can open doors)
P.S., in reference to what you posted a while ago, about not being cut out for sims stories, that's more than okay!! If you like doing the little one-off scenes like the proposal one, I would love to see them, but if you don't, then that's valid too!! It's your blog and any kind of content from you is enjoyable!
(sorry this is so very, very random. I just Do This sometimes, lmao.) (this = send people really long and rambling nonsensical asks. I'm so sorry.)
dw, i love all types of asks!! honestly random ones are more fun because it's like so unexpected. and congrats on 22k words!! that's definitely more than i've written this entire year lmao
i imagine cheese as a weirdly tolerant, very (almost dangerously so) curious, unafraid and affectionate cat. he'll let anyone pet him but he 100% prefers sam and will follow him around the house (aiden will still try to argue he's cheese's favorite though). he's very nice and doesn't attack people unless they seriously annoy him but he can be very messy and has absolutely ruined some of sam's plants. aiden's more afraid of thunder than cheese is, tbh (sam's probably trying to comfort aiden while cheese sits there meowing because he's not getting any attention). i think cheese is pretty smart but also pretty lazy so he's probably never bothered learning any cool unusual cat habits (aiden's tries to teach him but it never works)
and i will definitely do another little scene thingy in the future!! i have one that i've been thinking about for a while now so. i need to do at least that one, and probably some more because like i said in the tags of that post it's super weird to share your characters without even mentioning some very crucial aspects of them

For the “Get to know your fic writer” post. Can you answer the ones you most want to answer. And/ or these ones?
2, 7, 17 (I don’t want to go through all 77 again oh god. Plus I would ask you far too many questions. Love you! 💝)
2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?
It really depends. Most of the time it is write as I go, but I usually have some sort of idea of what I need/want to happen in a chapter. For the current chapter of my current WIP TBPWYAD that needs to be worked on/published I ended up outlining everything because I know what I want to write I just have no idea how. So if I know I need something I'll sometimes outline it, but usually it's writing out of my ass.
7. How do you choose which POV you write from?
Lmao so when I first saw this question on the original post I thought it meant first person vs third person (answer: I never write first person for fics; and then for original fiction it really depends on the feel of the story for me) then I realized just now it might actually be referring to like character POV. So with my spn fics, especially TBPWYAD, I feel most comfortable writing in Dean's perspective because he is the character I relate to the most so that POV/flow comes the most naturally. But if you or anyone has read my current fic they know it's in third person omniscient and that I do explore many character's POVs, even if only for a sentence.
With that third person omniscient and deciding when to switch perspectives/whose head I want to be in, I often think about it through the lens of a TV show and what I want to show the audience/what I want the reader to see. So like even one sentence in a different character's head before switching back to whoever is currently carrying the thread is like that one shot on a character where we get to see what they're thinking/feeling even if no one else does.
And with TBPWYAD a lot of it has to do with story. Cas is in the Empty and Dean, Sam, and Jack are on earth. Even predominantly writing Dean POV we still have to switch to Cas if we want to know what's happening in the Empty. And sometimes I just want to slip in a little something a character is thinking/feeling so that comes out lol. And other times I use it to build tension (like in Chapter 6: Devil in Disguise) we know that Lucifer has just shown up at the Bunker about to fuck shit up, but we cut to Michael and Jack talking and then Michael prepping to face Lucifer when he's confronted by two beings and we know Michael has had some sort of talk with someone but everyone else doesn't and knowing how the 15x19 and 15x20 go, there is the question/tension of is Michael going to betray the gang or is he going to keep fighting Chuck to get back his love Adam (another fun thing with doing Michael's POV in this fic is me pushing the midam agenda lol)
And even with the Dean primary POV switching to the others' perspective goes into whose story do I want to tell and what knowledge/information do I want to reveal to the audience. (Sorry that was a big ramble one lmao)
17. What do you do when writing becomes difficult? (maybe a lack of inspiration or writers block
FUCK. Well considering my fic has been on hiatus and hasn't been updated in over a year my answer is: i don't know. Although a lot of that does have to do with busy life so let's see.
Hm. I usually have a writing playlist that helps get me in the mood/mindset so I try to see if that helps me. I will also go back and read my work of what I've already done to see if there's any loose threads or ideas I've laid the groundwork for but haven't gotten to explore as of yet. I'll try seeing if there's anything in the story that I want and am able to write and go there (which is why in a previous ask I answered I mentioned future chapters even though the current one isnt written lmao). If I have writer's block on a particular scene I'll try writing around it and see if that helps. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Or I ever-so-helpfully just go on hiatus for a year and then fill with existential dread everytime I think about this block I need to conquer lmao
And link to original post here
Questions I most want to answer under the thing since I realized this is a long ass post already lmfao
39. Share a snippet from a WIP
So these asks have made me think about and also go back to TBPWYAD again and make me excited and want to talk about it (I think evidenced by my rambly answers lmao). So I really want to share a snippet from the current chapter I'm slowly but surely working on (The Famous Final Scene) <- and a little title easter egg as well
Meg glanced over her shoulder in the direction of the angels they’d just left behind. “That could’ve gone a lot better.”
“We weren’t immediately killed on sight, they heard me out despite the two demons at my side and my many sins on earth, and they let us leave unharmed. I would count that as a success,” Cas said, ignoring the tightness in his back from holding his wings still so long. They hurt if he moved them, they hurt if he kept them still, he’d long ago accepted there was nothing he could do to fix what he was: broken. “Whether they’ll actually go through the portal—”
“Oh they’ll go through the portal, Cassie,” Crowley interrupted, sulking at his side with his hands shoved in the pockets of his overcoat. “They’d be insane not to, especially after you had the Empty broadcast to everyone and their mother that they get to live again if they just get through the bloody thing. Even made sure they have to fight against God in the deal, cookie for you. Where that leaves humanity at the end of all of this, now that’s another question entirely.”
44. What mistakes do you keep making no matter how many times your beta corrects you?
LMAO. So I wanted to answer this one because I'm currently in a fiction workshop at my university and reading other people's stories is killing me slowly, but I also have been giving a comment that my betas WITHOUT FAIL give me everytime I send them a new chapter: "but how does a character feel about this?" and it's just personally hilarious to me. When writing I try to get down the plot and the happenings and think I've expressed how a character feels without actually giving time/space to do so, so my betas are very helpful in always pointing those moments out to me.
52. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
So I'll round it off with this one because I'll otherwise probably answer way too many. I always respond to comments, usually if it doesn't happen right when I posted the chapter the fic was commented on, I wait until I'm getting ready to post the next chapter. So when I finally respond to the three unanswered comments on my fic that have been sitting in my inbox for the past year, it's a herald that I've probably sent the new chapter off to my betas and there'll be an update in the next couple weeks lol. But I respond because I love comments. They always fill me with joy to receive, especially since someone took time out of their day to write something nice about my writing (there is of course the trepidation of potentially getting a negative comment but knock on wood it hasn't happened yet). It's an opportunity to talk about my fic maybe a little more, or it's just appreciating the readers appreciating my fic. Their comments say they see my writing, and me responding is me letting them know I see them back.

hey!!! deimos here :)
i hope you're having amazing holidays!
first of all, id like to apologize for not being so active these past weeks. they've been way busier than i expected and i wish i'd had more time to chat with you. however i do hope we'll become friends even though we didn't talk as much as i expected :)
now, about your last response to my ask:
i loved back to the future! i've watched the three films but its been a few years since i've watched them, so i cant quite remember exactly what happens. (but i do remember i liked them a lot!)
i prefer icarly mainly because i watched it more than victorious when i was a kid (i dont really know why......i just know it was easier for me to watch icarly????????). my favourite icarly episodes are any episodes where spencer has tons of screen time. i really like those where they go to japan as well! and spencer is definitely my favourite character. spencer and gibby – they are THE best!
speaking of nostalgia, i've recently started playing club penguin again. i grew up playing it, got really sad when it ended and now i'm back at it (obviously not playing the original BUT its still cool)
it really was amazing. i'm curious for what's going to be the theme for next year's presentation. i think it's going to be an even nicer experience since i'll probably feel more confident :)
yes!!!!!!! make pluto a planet again!!!!!! pluto's been a planet for so long why not just let it be a planet??? it's not harming anyone!!!
lore olympus is really lovely. i hope you enjoy reading it! i don't think deimos appears at least for the parts i've read. who knows what happened after that?
again, i hope you've had/are having lovely holidays. i loved being your secret santa and i really really wish i'd had the time and energy to talk to you more often during this. but what's done is done and i really hope we'll keep chatting (you're so nice and interesting aaaaaaah!!!!!!)
have a great day :)
- lilly
hello, lilly/deimos! it’s nice to finally meet you!!! i apologize for the late response, as i’ve been busy with work and i also have a concerning tendency to stall before responding to people. so don’t even worry about giving late responses, as i completely understand how difficult it can be at times! with that being said, i hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday!
there’s this little quirk about bttf 2, which is most notably one of the most random subplots in cinematic history, where marty suddenly gets pissed off every time someone calls him ‘chicken’. it’s absolutely hilarious when you go back and watch that scene where he turns around and says, ‘nobody calls me chicken’ with a serious tone. where did this subplot come from? why is it pertinent for the movie to establish that marty doesn’t like to be referred to as a barnyard animal? i don’t know, but it’s funny as hell lmaoooo
spencer and gibby are the backbone of icarly, to be completely honest. spencer’s niche artistic expression paired in with his genuine passion for his little sister’s show is what makes him such a great character. and gibby’s eccentricities are also what makes the show so iconic even years after its final cancellation. (although, noah munck did admit that he began to feel exhausted by how fans of the show would constantly go up to him and ask him to pull off his shirt—the whole “gibbyyy” routine) it’s a shame that gibby’s anticipated spinoff show was cancelled before an official pilot was released. it would’ve been interesting to see how that character’s life would’ve progressed post-series finale. instead, we got ‘sam and cat’ ; a decent show that contained two of the most beloved characters on nickelodeon at that point in time, but a failed emulation of its predecessors
icarly tangent aside, that’s awesome that you reconnected with club penguin again! did you play any other online games that were popular at that time like petpet park, movie star planet, poptropica, ect.? (damn.. we had so many virtual games that catered to our demographic back then :( )
okay, if you receive any hints as to what’s going to be next year’s theme for your presentation, i’d love to know! it’s great to know that you’re gradually becoming more comfortable with performing in front of others!
YOU’RE RIGHT!!! pluto has never committed a single crime (besides being too short, i guess) this is a noble cause for short kings/queens worldwide : advocate for pluto’s validity as a planet!!! and hopefully, deimos makes at least a minor appearance in the most recent issues of lore olympus. he deserves more representation, poor chap :(
as i’ve said previously, don’t fret about not having sent enough asks during this event. i wholeheartedly enjoyed exchanging messages with you and hope to become good friends as we enter the new year! you’re very kind and interesting, and you’ve introduced me to media that was unfamiliar to me before. overall, you’re really cool and i anticipate that we continue to keep in touch here on tumblr :D
have an amazing day!!!
