Harry is a homie's homie

I'll explain. I was scrolling through my own blogs and I came across a lot of posts appreciating Harry's friendship with different characters, each one unique in it's own way. And I realized exactly how fluid and accepting of a person Harry is. Surely he judges first, but once he gets a whiff of the good (despite of all the flaws or how he or she is commonly perceived by everyone else) in a person he is like 'aw alright you're gonna be ma friend and i will protect you with my life'.

Hermione- ah yes the bossy, domineering, ocd nerd who thinks she is too good for everyone. Also she is a muggle-born, often insulted and ridiculed by the pureblood community. making friends with her would mean being academically overshadowed and getting into brawls with other ppl to defend your friendship with a mudblood. who would want all that trouble ? harry here was initially deeply annoyed by her presence, but later, actively recalls that she has to be saved from the girls' washroom when the troll was wreaking havoc. he becomes friends with her. then she becomes his main bitch basically. he stood by their friendship even when during his 4th year Skeeter was trying to manipulate him into believing that he has a thing for her due to his 'pangs of adolescence'. he never feels insecure by her academic brilliance, admires and respects the fuck out of her, surely is weary of her lack of quidditch knowledge but never drags her for it, defends her fiercely whenever necessary, trusts her with her decisions, even appreciates her beauty but not with a single a tone of romantic interest. he literally loves her like a sister which she gladly reciprocates. (and ofc there's ron who marries her)

Ron- forever compared to his older brothers, insecure, had great potential but was always made to feel like he had none by the people around him, also is financially weak. Harry here starts their friendship by literally buying an entire snacks trolley for the both of them. he never underestimates his academic state unlike his own mom, never makes fun of him in general unlike the twins, never gives up on his quidditch skills even when the entire team was dissatisfied with his performance. remember when one time it was before a match ig and ron performed badly during practice due to his nervousness, it was like a 'funeral' environment inside the common room. none of the members approached ron to comfort him, except for harry. he is the only who still believed in him, fought people to keep him as keeper, used the placebo effect (pretending to mix felix in ron's drink) to pull the best out of him. when ron was made prefect harry did feel envious for a moment. but he quickly matured up and remembered all the reasons why ron should deserve the position and congratulated him. he didn't question it or acted perplexed by it like the rest did. he gave the twins his triwizard money and the first thing he asked them was to buy ron proper dress robes but not tell that it was his idea. also ron is the one he would've missed most (4th year) and did miss most when he was in the muggle world. yes his fame made ron insecure but harry as a person never did anything to make him feel that way.

Luna- eccentric, the weird girl, loner. harry was not really keen to be friends with her at first and yet he remained polite towards her and didn't constantly make fun of her or her father's magazine like ron and hermione. when luna supported him while the whole world thought he was a liar, he acknowledged her and warmed up to her. when he got to know that she too lost a parent, he resonated with her. later he would mention in books 6 and 7 that he had great affection for her, and genuinely thought she was cool and worthy as a person. he never tried to deny the fact that she was his friend just because it would be embarrassing for someone like 'harry potter' and was grateful to have her by his side during his crazy missions. he even took her out for a date at Slughorn's party and didn’t even feel self-conscious for it. everyone laughed at this decision of his except for him (and ginny). his and luna's friendship is my hands down my favourite.

Neville- not that bright, nervous and innocent, constantly bullied or picked on, has a dark secret about his parents. when harry got to know about neville's parents, not only did he relate to him but he felt even more sorry for his parents' fate than his own. he understood that neville's pain was as worse as his, having parents and yet not having them got to be a tough thing to handle. he respected the boundary and didn't disclose this personal detail to anyone so that neville would be in a uncomfortable position until ofc it was inevitably revealed in the hospital. even then he was trying to divert everyone's attention so that neville doesn't get startled. supported him whenever he felt like he was not good enough, trusted him with big responsibilities unlike authoritative figures, nurtured his confidence and was proud like a dad of his improvements in DA classes, told him he was worth 10 malfoys and was always on his toes to beat anyone's ass who bullied him. and also always focused on what neville was capable of rather than what he was not of.

Fred and George- the troublemakers, the disappointments of the family. harry could tell them apart and actively invested in their business what more do I have to point out. also his internal monologues about the twins clearly tells us how much he loved and appreciated them.

Fleur- constantly sexualised, objectified. her worth was always brought down to solely her face. harry did think she was beautiful but not in an obsessive or degrading way. he acted normally around her, treated her like a normal person, never insulted or called her names, or tried to hit on her time to time and acknowledged the fact that she was more than just her beauty. he was least effected by her Veela charm which allowed him to see her as a worthy and skilled witch. surely he found her cringe at times (I mean spoon feeding your fiance at the family dinner table c'mon) but he never voiced that out and was always extremely composed and respectful towards her.

I mean, for a guy who didn’t have any ideal examples of companionship in front of him while growing up and also 0 parental guidance, he was an incredibly kind and supportive friend to everyone he cared about. A true homie's homie.

The idea of a character who comes off as harsh but deep down cares more than anyone, or a friend who is a bit hard on you but because she loves you, is extremely common worldwide, but Japan even has the tsundere archetype and such.

The idea with Rei and Usagi is that Rei loves her and wants her to succeed so she pushes her. It's very very obvious in the moments where it matters that Usagi is Rei's best friend, and their friendship in the 90s anime is actually extremely well-done.

In that screenshot at the end someone says their relationship develops into 'sisterhood' and you make fun of it but idk if you have siblings... 'sisters' is very apt. They push each other's buttons but they know each other inside and out and that makes them closer. Even though they bicker it's a relationship founded on deep trust, understanding, and affection.

I don't dislike your blog overall and some of your criticisms of the 90s anime are very valid but I think you're wrong on this one. In S1 their relationship does develop a lot from just fighting bc they don't like each other to growing attached, Rei comes to be very fond of Usagi. In later seasons this foundation has already been laid so while Rei does continue to be mean to Usagi it very much is with the understanding that she loves her very dearly. The Rei-Usagi relationship is one of the things the 90s anime did extremely well.

Let me say this

Last night when I did that post, it actually come spur of the moment since I was in Sailor Moon Stars looking for a particular scene for a friend of mine so we could discuss. I was watching some of the episodes of Stars when this scene

So I was like " Hold up They supposed to get character development but she is still calling her a crybaby. She is still saying the same thing they she had said to her since the beginning. If they supposed to be evolving and developing then that should be something she should stop calling her because she knows how upset and irritated she gets but she still does it. And for what? to get under her skin. We had 170 plus episodes where they went through at lot of shit together, died for each other and still calls her a crybaby? Even tho she knows Usagi wear her heart on a selve? "

So that's why I decide to do that photoset which I wasn't even looking to do because I was looking for something else dealing with Stars. From the beginning of the series which yes they don't like each other and she's calling her a crybaby to the end of the series which she is still calling her a crybaby.

It didn't take me that long to find all of those scenes that she say nasty things to her. I know they have moments where they show them being nice which one in particular is when Chibiusa is black lady and she is comforting her.

Which is a really good scene.

Also my fave scenes in season one when they talk about Mamo and she tells her to be happy with him.

Also in a scene in Stars when she trying to stop her from going after Mamo by herself and fails. Of course in Season one finale when she is the last one standing to fight a DD girl and the things she say to Usagi is heartfelt.

I know about those scenes but they are too many scenes like the scenes I showed in that photoset. To the point that it's easier to find scenes that Rei saying some nasty shit to Usagi and it's harder to find scenes where they have nice moments. Which that shouldn't be the case at all. It shouldn't took me like 10-20 minutes to find a lot scenes that she just saying some mean shit to her. Which it literary took me 45 mins to put that photoset together. I started put it together at 11:29 pm and I posted it at 12:25 am. I was going to put some more pics in that photoset but I exceeded the limit of 30 pics. So minus the screenshot that was from a FB group and Rihanna gif that was 28 pics of Rei saying mean things to Usagi.

That 28 pics WAY to many.

The main reason why I stopped watching S besides Luna calling her an idiot because every single time Usagi opens her mouth her comes Rei saying something mean. To the point I am saying over and over again " Why are you like this?" While sometimes Usagi go toe to toe with her , most of time it's not even necessary for even do that to Usagi. Most of times Rei may something to someone else and Usagi maybe backing her up.

Like why she had to do that? Was that necessary at that moment? No Especially when it was backing Rei up about telling them things that Mako is worried about.

Like why she have to be like this?

Like she always have her " Let's roast Usagi everytime she say something" on and never cuts it off unless the plot permits her to do so.

I am Aries as well so I know we have smartass mouths, are blunt, no nonsense and can be sarcastic but damn I know how to cut that off. I am not trying to pissed people off every single time I open my mouth. I know when to joke around with people and know who not to joke around with.

Also with my set of friends, I was considered the no nonsense but Mom of the group since I was oldest. They knew I don't play that but they knew I love them and push them. I would never say the shit Rei say to Usagi to none of my friends. Every person have a limit of what they take and I wasn't going to cross a line they would fuck up a friendship.

Rei feels like she wake up every day just ready to piss off Usagi with some mean shit because she doesn't like the way Usagi acts.

As for siblings, I do have siblings. I have an older sister and brother which makes me the baby of the family. Yes we do roast each other. We have certain jokes that we say to each other and go back and fort but we have a limit. If we say something out of pocket to each other we going to let each know that this joke hurt and it's below the belt and it will never be said again. I love my brother and sister a lot and I know they love me as well but majority over our realtionship is not us roasting each other to get a damn reaction out the other.

My realtionship with my older sister is one that I have a deep bond with. I love my sister to death and I know someone messes with me see will protect me and I will do the same for her. I know I get on her nerves since I am the baby and she get on mine but at the end of day if both of us are not laughing at the shit we say to each other, that's a big fucking problem. If we said something to other person that offends, we will tell each other, say that shit hurt and apologize which it will never be said again. My sister is really to check me if I say some off the wall shit which an older sister supposed to do. I will check her if she say something that supposed to be a joke but it hurt my feelings. I can come to her if I have a problem and she will push me to do what I need to do. She always have my back and I know she loves me.

So lets ask this.

Do anytime where Rei and Usagi say something to each other, are they laughing at what the other person has said? Do they realize what silly shit they are saying to each other and just fall to ground laughing?

I have seen most of the time that Rei say some shit and Usagi end up crying..

Because to me it's a not roast or ribbing if the person you are roasting are not laughing and not having fun as well.

When I am roasting with either of my siblings, we are going to make sure that all of us are on the ground laughing and having a good time. It's not a good time if the party doing the roasting is having a good time but the person who is receiving the roasting is not.

It more ways to show you love someone them 95% of the time you are roasting shit out of them with some mean shit to get a reaction out because you know you are getting to hit a nerve over and over again.

Rei is always saying something out of pocket and when Usagi say " Hey You are being meanie" she don't apologize she just double down more with something else hurtful.

Like in episode 94 when she want to be more of a wife to Mamo and they was at the concert, Mako apologize, Luna apologize but this what she says

All she had to do was say a simple "I'm sorry" but the writers got her playing " the tsundere" character so well they couldn't let her say a simple apology but she can say this to her which wasn't needed.

So to me no it's not a sisterhood. A sisterhood knows each other bounties and not push them.

A sisterhood knows that if this word hurt their sister they will stop using it and apologize.

Now in the manga, crystal, and most def PGSM it is a sisterhood.

Rei does rib her in PGSM but she knows when to stop and they do have that sisterly bond.

Why you think it's so many fanfics of Rei betraying Usagi?

Fanfics of Usagi leaving the group and going to America because she was tired of Rei, Luna and the other girls treatment of her.

Which majority of the fanfics steam from the 90's portray of their " friendship" since the 90's anime was pretty much the first adaption most SM fans watch.

If they did have a sisterly bond you wouldn't have fanfics like that.

But ok.

You have all the right in the world to disagree with me because that is your opinion and you bought the reason why you feel like that. Your opinion is not wrong because it's your opinion.

In my opinion, the 90's anime didn't do a good job to show Rei and Usagi realtionship and I will stand on my opinion.

Maybe RWDE gets its reputation because so much of it is deeply toxic and bigoted, and blatantly so to people who don't obsessively hate the show.

Condemn that on your own blog, show me a link, and then come back. Also condemn the fact that Kerry Shawcross literally said that they used Ironwood's new black prosthetic to symbolize his loss of humanity. Also, show me where you've criticized things like people saying Ironwood should lose his prosthetics so he'll be 'helpless' as comeuppance for his mistakes. Show me where you've called out people hypersexualizing the women in RW/BY in their fanarts, because that ran rampant in y'alls tags for awhile. Show me where you've called out the person who said my sister was being 'ableist against herself' for having seen some of her own Autistic traits reflected in Penny, who told her that Penny obviously hadn't been enough of a person to actually have character traits, so my Autistic sister was being ableist to suggest they shared similarities. Show me where you've called out the people who misuse and vilify terms like 'narcissist' and 'psycho' and use them to just mean 'bad person' when that's literally ableist. Show me where you've called out the person who made a post saying that the RW/BY fandom was no longer accepting criticism and then when people (including my younger sister) said that was dumb, they called everyone cunts. Was it when I said that writing badge carrying law enforcement officers and glorifying them as paragons of virtue and then doing things like making the fact that the Ace Ops answer to authority rather than just themselves part of why they're bad but Team RWBY isn't? Was it when I said that there should have been queer rep in the main cast by now and that it's annoying as a queer woman to be continually told to 'just wait' despite the lack of censor and the fact that the writers have been promising main character rep since like volume two? Was it when I said that MKEK needed to do better with their disabled representation than several villains, two side characters who wound up getting benched with every main character forgetting their existence and Yang having had such a small amount of screen time in volume four only to be written by the entirely able-bodied writers to say that her prosthetic was just extra? Was it when I said that it was sus as hell that the first black woman in a position of power was killed within five minutes of screen time? Was it when I said that a group of majority male writers specifically purposefully writing a story where a young girl was written to go through tons of shit like getting her bodily autonomy ripped away from her and then having her body forcibly removed/changed her without consent (consent under threat of death isn't consent,) only to beg a man to kill her as her supposed only choice she'd ever made despite having clearly made choices before then was a pretty fucking big red flag? Literally, tell me how you think I'm bigoted, and if it's something like 'you're obsessed with Ironwood' (I'm not, he's not even a blorbo,) or "You hate that girls are allowed to be powerful" (untrue, as I actively want the girl characters to be more powerful,) or that I'd be happy if the men were in charge (again untrue, as I actively complain about Jaune and Oscar and even Ironwood getting so much screen time) then just save it.

Also, last point I'm gonna make, but if you really think I'm obsessed with this show, you've got a big storm coming. I've been thinking more about Jack and Davey from the Broadway Musical version of Newsies than I've been thinking about RW/BY. I've been thinking more about the DCOM Descendants Universe more than I've been thinking about RW/BY. You literally get such a tiny snippet of my life, and then think somehow that it's... All I think about. And it's just more proof of how actually disconnected from reality you are.

Get some guts, my dear pal. Get some guts, go touch grass, get well soon, hope you stop simping for Miles 'She's only sixteen' Luna enough to actually realize your show is deeply problematic.

Remus X Reader (coffee shop AU) 

Summary: He always asked for the same coffee order, but one day, he finally asks for your name. 

A/n: So, I put up a post and the lovely @trappedgoose-in-a-writblr-room​ responded first with a request for a Remus drabble so here it is! Our soft nervous precious Remus. I limited myself to about 1k words, so it is truly a drabble, but I’m willing to do a part two if y’all are into it. It’s super cute, and yes, I may or may not be a barista at a coffee shop, but that’s beside the point. and I am seriously judging you if you like americanos

“So, you come here often?”

He had been coming here for weeks. Maybe a few months. And every time he followed the same routine. He’d walk from the small bookshop across the way and into my café just as my shift was coming to its midway point. Always in a jumper. Always with a beat-up satchel. He’d order an americano and sit in the corner booth and tap on his laptop and work through a book, frowning and typing again, until his coffee was gone, and he seemed satisfied with his progress.

Remus. The name he’d put for the order. The first time I wrote it on his cup was customary. By his third visit, I didn’t bother. I knew who he was. By his fifth, he just waved, and I smiled, already pulling the shot of espresso for his americano. After a while I’d write stupid things on his cup. The slower days when we were the only two in the café. The color of his jumper, a silly variation of his name, whatever the main character of his book was. 

“Seeing as I work here,” I baited with a smile. “Yes,”

“Right,” He stammered. “Um...”

“Do you want another coffee?” I prompted, as he looked down, blushing a bright pink. 

“I... uh.” He finally glanced up. “I don’t know your name,” He rushed out.

I looked at him a moment, taken by surprise. 

“And I would ask you to join me for coffee, when you’re off your shift of course... or maybe on your day off if you even want to not that you have to, but I realize that I can’t exactly do that if I don’t know your name, so...” His nervousness left me scrambling to keep up with his rushed words. 

“Y/n,” I gave a reassuring smile. “And I’ll join you for coffee as long as I don’t have to drink an americano,” 

Now it was his turn to look shocked. As if my acceptance of his offer wasn’t expected. 

“I’m sorry, what?” He stumbled. 

“Americanos,” I clarified. “I don’t know how you manage them, because they’re just awful,” 

Whatever he had been thinking was abandoned to defend his drink of choice. 

“They’re not that bad,” He refuted. “And I’m lactose intolerant, so I don’t really have much of a choice,” 

I pursed my lips and chuckled. “Go sit, I’ll be there in a minute,” I sat across from him, setting a cup of coffee in front of him that held a warm amber color. He studied me and the cup. 

“This has milk in it,” He accused. 

“Oat milk, completely lactose free,” I rose my own mug of coffee. “It’s the only way I take my coffee anymore. I haven’t put any sugar in it, I don’t know how sweet you like it and I didn’t want to overdose you,” 

“Oat milk,” Remus pondered, picking up a fair share of sugar packets. “I never would have thought of that,” 

“Here’s to good coffee, not watered-down espresso,” I raised my mug and we both took a sip together and I watched his eyes widen at the coffee in his cup. 

“This is brilliant,” His eyes lit up. 

“You’d think that after the few months you’ve been here constantly, you’d figure out we had non-dairy options,” I teased lightly, and he blushed slightly. 

“I... I was distracted. So, I ordered what I knew,” He stammered, staring at his coffee. 

“Distracted?” I pressed. “Lost in too many books then?” 

“Well, yes. But no,” He chuckled. “There’s this pretty barista who works here that keeps me off balance.” I hid behind my mug my cheeks warming. 

“That so?” I tried to play off, but he caught my flush and grinned. “Then why the hell did it take you three months to ask for my name?” I accused, chuckling. 

“Well, I don’t know!?” He laughed. “You just so... you!” 

“What is that even supposed to mean!?” I giggled. 

“I don’t know,” His face was red from the laughter and the unanswered questions. 

“I’m glad you did finally ask,” I admitted, fidgeting with a spare napkin. “Are you a student? You’re always here with a book,” 

“Grad student,” He clarified. “Working on my dissertation. I have an internship at the shop across the way,” 

“You’re there most days that I work,” I noted. “You always come for coffee,”

I nodded and nursed my coffee. “I might not seem like it, but I’m also a student. I work here for the extra cash,” 

“Right,” He fumbled. “I—read anything interesting lately?” He redirected the conversation, and I could tell that he was more comfortable with the topic. It wasn’t hard to pick up that he wasn’t one for small talk, but his eyes lit up at the mere mention of a book. 

“Some work by De Pizan, my professor is doing a seminar on her,” I gave. “It’s really interesting, I’m enjoying it a lot,” 

“De Pizan,” He mused. “Middle Ages? Rhetorist, right?” I nodded and smiled. “It’s been a while since I’ve read anything of hers for class, or fun or that matter. I remember liking her work though, she was a proto-feminist,” 

“Yes...” I was surprised by his base of knowledge.

“Sorry, I know I ramble,” He ducked his head.

“I think it’s cute,”

“Oh... well,” Remus was becoming a permanent shade of pink. 

“You don’t do this sort of thing often do you?” I prompted. 

“What gave it away?” 

“Well, I mean there is the whole name ordeal. Then of course, you’re a shy book nerd, that’s obvious, but honestly, you’re nervous for all the wrong reasons,” I supplied. 

He gaped at me as if he didn’t know what to address about what I said first. While he was deciding, I reached out and placed my hand over his. 

“As someone else with anxiety, let me tell you, you’re doing just fine.” 

“Yeah?” His eyes were hopeful. 

I nodded and glanced at the clock. “Well, my break is over, but you’re welcome to hang out.” I stood, gathering both of our empty mugs. “And thanks... for finally asking,”

1 for soy luna and i'm not sure if you've watched violetta? but if you did i'm curious about 3 and 6! and if you haven't watched the show feel free to use it for soy luna (also i accidentally unfollowed you while trying to ask this lmao if you got the notif that's why)

For the record: I have seen Violetta. It was the first telenovela I have ever watched and the one that really got me into them. I say so in my pinned post where I list the fandoms I am in. One I have not seen is BIA

1. which character do you relate to the most from your fandom?

Nina. I am an introvert who barely has any friends and automatically thinks everyone hates me. I flourish and come out of my shell in the right company and get along the best with outgoing people. I am also a writer. So I am Nina to the T only with no stage fright and a hot boyfriend

This is a bit harder since I really didn't relate any of the characters in Violetta. If I'd had to pick one, then it might be Ludmila, because I think Vilu is overrated too

3. what is your favorite ship?

Anyone who has stumbled on my blog knows the answer to this. It is Gastina, So Nina and Gastón. You all know how I feel about Gastina. The original healthy, unproblematic Disney couple who actually knows how to communicate. Their story is both nerd x jock and best friends of the protagonists done right. Their story is super beautiful in S1 and they both need each other and make each other better. One of my favorite things about them is that they were never exactly shy on PDA, something that you would think Nina would not like. You'd think they'd moved slowly, but in the second episode of S2 we get the locker scene, where Nina was pinned against the wall, and it didn't seem like it was the first time. They didn't kiss in from of people but I think they really should have on at least a couple occasions, but making out in public definitely was not off-limits. They both complete each other perfectly since they are both different but also similar at the same time and they are soul mates. Gastón is exactly what Nina needs and vice versa. My passion for them also comes from the fact that they and Gastón were done so dirty and I need justice

Diego and Francesca. My immense love for Gastina aside, I always prefer the bestie couple over the main one. I am also a sucker for a Romeo and Juliet storyline. I also just never got into Fran and Marco, and shipped Diego and Fran since they danced together

6. when you first think of the fandom, what image comes to mind?

Roller skate? No, not really, when I think about Soy Luna, I usually think about Gastina or Gastteo, so about anything about them.

About Violetta? The music. I am a singer myself and I would kill t do what they got to do in S3 with the tour and stuff (I don't have any Violetta gifs)

13. if you have c&d, do you play with pets? i feel like i haven’t played with cats and dogs in forever. honestly i just have no paitence. noelle fae was supposed to get a cat (there’s a food bowl + cat bed in her house) but when summer vacation started, the amount of time i spent playing ts4 decreased a lot. (this doesn’t really make sense, i have a lot more time. honestly it just has to do with my recent obsession with a certain anime/manga and some other personal thing)

i did random nightmares in may though and i had pets frequently. g5 didn’t because sofia scarlett lived in an apartment, but g2/3/4 had cici, and g1 had all the cats. but that was back in march so it’s been a while.

14. what lifespan do you use? i really want to do aging off but then i feel like it drags on. but aging legit stresses me out, sometimes i just want to sit down and do some cas stuff but i only have 2 hours in real time and there’s like 4 days left till one of my sims’ birthdays. 

15. if you own a lot of packs, how many of them have you actually played through? just so everyone is aware this question was made for me

i feel like eps require a specific save made for testing them out, but the only save i’ve ever made for an ep is noelle fae’s get famous save. 

that is literally a lie - i made a save for island living with one of my 100bc kids, maisie acapella. i did actually post it on tumblr BUT then i deleted all the posts BUT i reblogged them on my alt account BUT i privated my alt account so i honestly forgot about it

i have never played through discover university or watched anyone do it on youtube, i’ve read gerbits’ story about it so i think i’m pretty qualified. i’ve always wanted to do one with periwinkle acapella but i never got around to it

i tried doing a eco life playthrough but i hadn’t watched any videos and i was like..what is going on. so i quit lolx d ;;;;; i mentioned it but the whimsy stories legacy was the first time i had played with the eco lifestyle features so technically i think i know what im doing

i got outdoor retreat literally on monday of this week so i haven’t played through it yet. 

jungle adventure i still don’t know what’s going on. i remember last year before i bought the pack i was brainstorming, and wanted to do a ja playthrough with luna and cedar, who are a couple who i did a random legacy with and it was all queued to post when i deleted everything (if you’re wondering why, it’s because my queue was literally 200+ posts). except this time i didn’t save them to my sideblog so i lost them.

city living i did through psc stage 5 and also it was the first pack i bought anyways

i feel like im forgetting some.. honestly most of the stuff i did before simblr was either 100 baby (i love that challenge) or random saves that lasted for 2 seconds. 

18. do you like the new(ish) hair swatches? nah. 

i do appreciate that most cc hairs have a true (ish) black, thank god! and the fact that the hair update is what inspired me to update and fix a bunch of hairs with different issues is pretty nice. but will i use them? no. 

plus it takes up like 5 gb? depending on how many packs you have.

noelle is blonde and has blue-grey eyes. she wears purple contacts pretty often though (because she wants to 😌)

alari has light brown hair that is kinda curly, and she’s got pretty vibrant blue eyes. 

they’re sisters, alari is 3 years older than noelle. noelle was 19 and alari was 22 when they got spotted

they worked as models when they were young adults. their jobs involved dyeing their hair blue/pink, and they would model like clothes and stuff. anyways, they were pretty successful. like not ultra famous but they had enough money to not work for the rest of their lives. 

their modeling group was made of 4 girls, the others were named paisley autumn and they were green and red, respectively. some things are: 

paisley and alari started dating during this 

autumn was a single mother to a little girl named destiny

noelle dated many people during this but never ended up finding the one <3

when their contract ended after like 6 years, paisley and alari went to go live together and noelle decided to get into acting. so thats when get famous playthrough started!

22. if you use cc, are there any cc creators that you have like ALL of their items? this is such a good question! i hoard hair very heavily (my folder is 11gb) i so i have like 97% from most of the popular hair creators. 

i think i had legitimately EVERYTHING from simstrouble though, i went through multiple times to check and i also have all of her retired stuff. 

i have everything from ridgeport i think-? because of the fact that she uploaded all her stuff in one big zip. 

i think that’s it.. for a long time i also had everything by clumsyalienn, but then i ended up deleting it and only keeping my faves.

Lee Gon’s and Jeong Tae-eul’s choice of each other (fate and future) (Part 2)

The question of ‘imbalance’

Lady Noh being from the Republic is an important reveal, as other’s have pointed out, as it shows that there is nothing wrong with living in another universe. There are no actual instances of imbalance being an issue during the show. Expect when your doppelganger is killed by someone from the other world. The show heavily implies that it is Fate and/or the Flute which is marking the people responsible for such a trespass with the lightning scars. I.e the lightning scars are the marks of someone trespassing on Fate’s domain and/or abusing the Flute’s power. It is a physical manifestation/reminder to Lee Gon that Lee Lim must be stopped and his actions ‘undone’. Alternatively it simply means that the death of Lee Ji-hun is wrong and must be remedied, LG’s scar (and in that case the others’) being the physical manifestation of this ‘wrong’. There is importantly no scars or signs of cosmic imbalance implying there being anything wrong with Jeong Tae-eul during either of her two visits to the Kingdom. During her first visit she inhabits the Kingdom at the same time as Luna and during the second they have switched places. There are no signs of anything being wrong or imbalanced at either time (or even when Tae-eul and Luna are in the Republic at the same time). In addition if imbalance and simply using the Manpasikjeok was wrong then Prince Buyeong would have been brought back after the reset. He however stays dead, why? Because he was destined to die (i.e his death was not a trespass on Fate’s domain). Lee Lim’s lightning mark probably comes from him murdering his own doppelganger, which is a trespass on Fate’s domain. How do I know that? Because Lee Lim’s doppelganger is back and alive in episode 16. We also have a scene showing that Lee Lim gets his underlings to kill their own doppelgangers, which explains why so many of them have scars. However, as in the case of Lee Gon, Lee Lim’s second in command man also suffers from lightning scars despite not being the one to kill his own doppelganger. This is because the doppelganger was killed ‘wrongly’ and not when he should have as according to Fate and his doppelganger gets to (as Lee Gon) carry the sign of this wrong. Lee Lim’s interference and abuse of the Manpasikjeok has messed up the worlds so much that the timeline needs to be canceled. All of this is actually important because if the drama had wanted to show that things have to be balanced it would’ve had to actually show it in some way. The writer does a lot of ‘showing not telling’ and plants red herrings (the fear of imbalance is one) regarding the obstacles facing the characters. The characters being worried about it is not evidence in itself, especially not in light of the Lady Noh reveal. There’s also no reason to believe that her counterpart wasn’t alive when she moved to the Kingdom. Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul are also shown as not being worried about imbalance anymore in the last episode. In episode 13 we even have Lady Noh asking Jeong Tae-eul to take care of Lee Gon, knowing that there is no potential issue of imbalance.  

(A side note: I am again marking other meta I’m referencing with * and **. You can find them both linked at the end of this post. It’s a great blog, would recommend)

So what might Tae-eul be contemplating in this picture? As noted by others she is adamant in episode 16 about visiting the Joseon period. This because so she can wear the Binyeo (which I’ve been told is an hairpin worn exclusively by married women). She asks Lee Gon to pass it to her during their scene in the ‘in-between’. Lee Gon even asks her about her focus on it, a question she deflects which indicates to the viewer that there is an underlying real reason (a hint that Tae-eul wants to marry him eventually). Link with info about the Binyeo and its meaning at the end of this post***.

The ‘flash-forward’ and the ‘flash-back’ to their current selves

As someone who was a little confounded at first by the ending, because it builds up to them dating as a way of catching up (Lee Gon even describes it as so), implies Tae-eul becoming Queen and there being an heir (Lady Noh talking about the Ancient Shrine), have Lee Gon truly embrace his identity as the King to then have them do a flash-forward seemingly implying them dating forever. This was incredibly weird to me because the secondary “plot problem” of the show is the question of Lee Gon’s marriage. It is brought up a lot. Way too much to be resolved by having his cousin inherit the position of monarch. It would also be very out of character of Lee Gon since his cousin is (purposefully as to disabuse us of the notion) implied to be happy with her current life. It is only when Lee Gon believes he must sacrifice himself that he makes her his heir (which shocks everyone since they know that Lee Gon is a responsible monarch who knows of his duty to have his own ‘proper’ heir). It was as I already mentioned something Lee Gon seeks to solve during the drama, as evident in his discussion with Prince Buyeong and by him proposing to Jeong Tae-eul. So leaving it seemingly unresolved was to me strange. The direction of the last scene seemed to speak directly against the writing. I even wondered for a second if the director decided last minute to have a more open ending somewhat similar to CLOY (it would still be more open than CLOY’s though, since otherwise they would have cut the reference to the Ancient Shrine and Lady Noh making Lee Gon take a talisman with him). Re-watching the episode however I did realize that the dating was (as I mentioned above and previously) literally explained as them ‘catching up’ on what they’ve missed. *It is a call-back to Tae-eul expressing the wish to do so in that heartbreaking episode 15 scene by the bench. They are even on their way to watch a film in that last scene, one of the things Tae-eul mentioned she wanted to do with Lee Gon when ‘doing everything that they had skipped’. It does make a fair amount of sense to have the show end with them ‘catching up’ and having all of the time in the world. This because they have earlier had to ‘skip’ a lot of things and be fearful of the uncertain future (fearing that they have only so much time). Tae-eul worries about this early on and Lee Gon is devastated about it during episodes 12-15. 

Lee Gon telling the secretary about his relationship status as he knows it is his duty to marry one day (episode 13). This being before Tae-eul finally takes the leap, putting on his necklace and later accepting his flowers. 

More importantly however is that the direction doesn’t actually speak against the writing. I don’t believe it seeks to determine that they never get married. Why do I think so? As I’ve written before, because after the flash-forward to their old selves the drama flashes back to their current selves, leaving them as they are in the present about to write their own future. This is a deliberate choice and is something which is narratively important since Lee Gon has finally fulfilled his life-long duty. He is now free to make his own fate with Jeong Tae-eul, which he asked for advice as to how to do in his conversation with his uncle the Prince and in his conversation with her at the hospital (seeking to resolve the ‘marriage plot’). Jeong Tae-eul has overcome her fears (her ‘trial’ of the drama - she was pushed on her decision to be brave and to have faith**) and has bravely embraced and chosen him as her fate. Embracing that this will probably mean, as Jo Yeong suggested, becoming Queen, traveling between worlds and keeping quiet about the other world. How they do it is not spelled out and is probably something the director/writer wanted to skip. 

Enjoying having time i.e. enjoying today i.e. dating

I have a guess as to why actually. The couple is purposefully left enjoying the present, which they have earned after all the time they have had to worry about the future believing that they are running out of time. Enjoying the present at this moment to them means enjoying dating (as I said earlier - them going to watch a film should be understood as them ‘doing what they’ve skipped’ because it references Tae-eul’s earlier wish to do so, not as them dating forever). Them enjoying today could be argued would have been emotionally undermined if they themselves were shown thinking about/planning the future. This is why Lady Noh instead is there hinting about it with the talisman and the talk of the Ancient Shrine. (There’s a link below with meta which has some great suggestions based on the what we’ve seen so far in the show on how and when Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul might get married). The flash-forward simply shows us their promise visually (and confirms) that they will love each other forever tirelessly. In ‘the Heirs’ (written by the same writer) there is also a ‘flash-forward’ which is the main character imagining a possible (but implied certain) future before the drama flashes ‘back’ to the present leaving the main characters about to embrace the rest of their lives. I don’t believe that either ‘flash-forward’ is meant to do anything else than to imply that the characters will be happy together in the future.

Perhaps the drama ran out of time and this is why the drama goes out of its way to almost literally say “Everything will be fine”/”They will be happy forever and face everything together” + hinting with another reference to the Ancient Shrine. Doing so knowing that they had built up to them marrying/getting engaged without actually having time to show it and to show how to fix the doppelganger situation. Or they simply didn’t believe it necessary to do so and thought it better to leave them as enjoying finally having time. The books which were published after the show do have Lee Gon proposing by asking Jeong Tae-eul: “Can I be the one who fills your days?”/“Can I be part of your everyday?” (she accepts) which to me seems to mean that they will be part of each others’ everyday i.e. the opposite of only having weekend rendezvous (which would entail being only part of each others’ days - quite literally). It somewhat seems to me also to be the writer deciding to make some of the emotional subtext of the second flower scene into text as well (according to my reading of that scene at least). It could simply be the writer deciding to make it more clear that they will eventually marry.

Are you telling me that these two clingly love-sick idiots (I adore them) will be able to keep themselves apart when they look this sad after only a couple of weeks? (To be slightly more serious: They are acting like a ‘new’ couple dating, which is no coincidence because it is at that stage in their relationship we leave them. You can find similar scenes to this in other kdramas which is no coincidence as it is (I believe) meant to evoke them). 

+ There is also a scene in episode seven which implies that Jeong Tae-eul feels stuck in her job. As @ambitious-witch pointed out during the drama she doesn’t seem to care too much about being promoted. In this episode seven scene when asked why she is adamant about trying for a promotion (despite seemingly not adequately preparing for it which KSJ asks her about, implying, that her heart is not in it) she replies:

Not a very meaningful reason, which is no coincidence. If the show wanted Jeong Tae-eul to continue being a cop forever it would have built it up and it wouldn’t have had a storyline of her feeling restless in her job. Jeong Tae-eul’s drive is being brave and doing what’s right when others cannot. She has a very strong sense of right and wrong (as Lee Gon does). This entails being someone who fights for justice, which is why she is adamant to stop Lee Lim and call out PM Koo. I believe if she can do these things in another way she could very well choose to do so. The Royal Family is portrayed as the people who protect the Kingdom and through the responsibilities of the Manpasikjeok and the Four Tiger Sword we know that the monarch is tasked with standing up against evil. So is it a big leap that Tae-eul would eventually become Queen aiding Lee Gon and taking part in his responsibilities? I don’t think so. Sure, perhaps she remains a cop for awhile and is a very low-key behind-the-scenes Queen (*as not to disturb Luna’s life - though she could be a more official Queen if she wants), but I don’t see why they eventually wouldn’t decide to live together and have a kid/an heir. *Who importantly would be the next monarch and protector, and who would need just and good parents to bring them up and prepare them.

(The question of doppelgangers and Luna is a non-issue, as explained in the meta below*. The scene with the wiping of fingerprints is a PPL scene as I mentioned in my last meta and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. It is even deliberately undermined by Lee Gon struggling with erasing the CCTV footage in the next scene. Given the clues and the foreshadowing going on in episode 16 I can personally only conclude that they will get married one day. Below is a TL;DR though I have added some new details as well)

TL;DR: The drama hints during the last episode that Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul will eventually marry. It leaves them however as enjoying the present and ‘catching up’ on everything they have missed. Simply focusing and enjoying dating at the moment no longer fearing that their time together will be short. During the drama Lee Gon seeks to solve his and Tae-eul’s problem (of being from different worlds since he must eventually marry and produce an heir) by asking Prince Buyeong for advice. The Prince indicates that even though they are from different worlds things will be fine. That fate is not something Lee Gon must fight and that he hopes that Lee Gon’s fate is a woman since he really should get married soon. The Lady Noh reveal indicates that there is no problem with moving into another world. During the drama Jeong Tae-eul refers to Lee Gon as her fate (in episode eight) and in the last episode after having gone through hardships they state that they have chosen each other as their fate. The fate that chose them is not the fate of being from different worlds but each other, which is consistent with how they have spoken about fate during the drama. They also state that they will love each other tirelessly no matter what the future might bring. In the background Lady Noh and the FluteKid/FateKid are plotting to get them married soon and perhaps even have an heir by next year. Lady Noh’s talismans clearly work and Lee Gon is chided into accepting one (which is about getting the Kingdom a Queen) which results in him bringing Jeong Tae-eul back later. Honestly we should all be kinda scared of Lady Noh, cause everything she wants to happen does. Perhaps Jeong Tae-eul will be a somewhat private Queen (*not unheard of in the real world) or they will solve the issue with Luna in another way (since she still doesn’t have parents a ‘surprise twin’ is not impossible). The drama perhaps didn’t have time to show all of that though (a lot of things were already being tied up in episode 16) which is why the episode merely indicates them getting married in the future rather than showing it. It could also be as to not emotionally undermine the couple enjoying the present. The important conclusion of TKEM is that Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul are reunited, that they remember each other and that they don’t have to be worried anymore of time running out. The future is theirs to shape and they can make it into what they will. 

Or more accurately into what Lady Noh wills. Remember how Lee Gon made Lady Noh throw the talismans away in episode one? Here he has changed his tune and is now accepting it, putting it back into his pocket (Someone wanna guess why?)

Gossip Girl 2.0

So. . . I was unsure of whether I was going to talk about this or not but… in the end, here we are!

I shall be talking about the Gossip Girl Reboot.

Now quick disclaimer and mild *excuse you* to HBO, please find ways to make your content accessible to Europe because there are those of us that are interested and unfortunately your "Max" service is US only and honestly i see no reasonable logic behind it. Therefore my means of getting access to this content shall not be discussed.

Extra disclaimer, there will be spoilers. Doi.

Now I am a big die hard fan of the original GG series and despite the outdated (to today’s standards) comparisons and slang, some of the topics hold up even today. For anyone curious or questioning my opinion, based on my generation, I am mildly in the middle as a Zelenial at 23. I did not grow up with GG, I learned about it when I was 14 but watched it for the first time when I was 19. Since, I have watched it up to 14-17 times; more than 10 for sure. So you can do with that as you please. The main reason I mention this is due to some articles and comments pointing out that maybe it’s a “Gen Z only media” or that “Millennials are just bitter cause it’s not theirs”. Keeping that in mind I will be as per usual showing the ups and downs of the show (so far and later on) from my own personal perspective.

After watching ep 1. (& now 2 which will be in a separate post after this) I have a few questions, comments AND concerns. So let’s get into those shall we :)

So let's do a little round up of our characters.

We have newcomer Zoya Lott that is moving to NYC on a Constance scholarship! But little did anyone in the show know, it was all a plot to get to be with her *half sister*. WHAT?! So the tldl on that is that Zoya and our other main character, Julien Calloway, share a mom! Mom, that i quote "left Julien's dad for Zoya's dad and the dads hate each other" because of which hate, they had absolutely forbidden their daughters from communicating. One thing led to another, a friend request was sent and this is basically the parent trap. . . . but for the kids. . .and they're aware of it cause they made it. . . I suppose? The parents haven't really been mentioned to matter in their plan, however, they do keep bringing up their middle names as "Zoya Jane and Julien Elizabeth" as clues left by their mother? Now some rumours around the web have connected the names to the Pride and Prejudice novels and while that would be extremely Gossip Girl-esque to do, and I am entirely up for that, hell yea!!! I'm wondering if it's as simple as... their mother's name was Elizabeth Jane... but maybe GG will be the one to discover that secret first? Other than that, Zoya is very much a very trusting "innocent type" character that probably has more past than we know about so it will be quite interesting to see how that elaborates going further into the series.

Then there is self-made influencer Julien Calloway. She is the new version of queen at Constance but as stated, they "don't do the patriarchy anymore". While she appears all smiles and kindness, personally i feel as if JC is kind of fake? She has things she cares about yes, but the moment someone or something interferes with her followers and her social standing or Obie (more on him later)

When it comes to Julien I am honestly more curious to see who she is once you take away the followers and the media. Will she be an actual person or just a shallow obsessed spoiled brat? I just hope it won't be the typical story of "have to be perfect and have to have everyone like me because my mom left" ie. has mommy issues. That is how that cliche goes after all. So I am greatly hoping that's not going to be it for this one.

Obie Bergmann! We get introduced to Obie as Julien's boyfriend. Throughout ep 1, the things we learn about Obie are that he is basically the richest in the group, and lives in Dumbo. (irony from original GG for anyone that can guess it). He appears like a super nice and kind dude, a supportive boyfriend, kind of bland and tired of the relationship but the main thing that bothers me about him so far is his impossible to ignore "white guilt syndrome". For anyone unaware, "white guilt" is "remorse or shame felt by a white person with respect to racial inequality and injustice". While it's not a bad thing trying to make up for the in-equality in the world, here's hoping that's not his entire character cus that would get old quick.

Then we have the bestie, Audrey Hope. Audrey. . . is cold but to the point. Very analysing and observing. Definitely the type of character that would take all the info first and decide what to do after. I both like and am confused by her? Her cold mannerisms are quite enjoyable among the masses of drama and emotion I won't lie. However, i do predict a juicy threesome between her, boyfriend Aki and one Max Wolfe. Honestly, I am highly interested in how their relationship evolves.

Aki Menzies is kind of a mystery as of the moment. As to be expected with just 1 episode, we won't know too much about all the characters. He is the very supportive boyfriend that tries to keep the peace between everyone.

Max Wolfe on the other hand appears like the much more flamboyant version of Chuck Bass, if Chuck Bass had a supportive family environment and no limits on who he's dating. That's more or less for him but kuddos for his 0 hesitation to basically have a pic of his dick sent to everyone. I will never not find that hilarious. But again, between these three is my prediction for some juicy interactions. Cause to be fully honest, the chemistry is undeniable.

Monet de Haan. Ah. She is honestly the savage that we need around here. She is the control and the power behind Julien's brand honestly. I am curious how come she helps Julien with her brand rather than have her own? If we go off anything said in the episode, she is more feared than adored so maybe that's why? But Monet honey, fear can also have a following, just . . a different one.

And then there's Luna La, "The stylist" while we don't know much about her, some of her one liners are actively giving me life. Her and Monet are definitely a package deal and i wonder if there is juicier gossip there that we don't know yet.

Lastly, we have our new Gossip Girl. Young teacher, Kate Keller. I won't lie, i did not see us knowing who GG is from the get go. I am however wondering whether this will drag her down to the level of highschoolers (besides the fact that she looks younger than some of them xD) Something that is bothering me in the reboot however, is that technically, characters that represent adults, spying on minors??? Like they even make the point that "i shouldn't have these, i should be in jail" in regards to having almost naked pictures of the kids. Like it's not really okay??? In the original yea no one knew who GG was but they always knew it was someone their age. The teachers didn't care at those times. But they do now and I am not fully sure how okay it is.

And of course, the extras like some of the other teachers behind GG and the parents. We however, don't know too much about them as of now so we shall see soon. If any new characters are introduced they will be addressed but for now, onto the episode!

The half sisters plot is definitely interesting so I would love to know where the whole middle names thing will go. The story line I'm most interested in at the moment however is between Audrey, Max and Aki. I want to see that unwind into something horrendous but then beautiful! It has so much potential in my opinion. In terms of character development however i want to see who Julien is without all of her fame and followers. When the focus is not the media and the attention. I want to see that Julien.

The first episode definitely introduced us to a lot of things at once so far that is my take on them. I'm sure that in the future both the teachers and parents will be a bigger part but one thing is abundantly clear. Unlike the OGGG, there won't be more than maybe 2-3 seasons depending on the ages of the students. The teachers won't follow them onto college will they? Or will things drastically change along the way? It was rather amusing seeing them talk about all the old characters however, and reference the OG Gossip Girl. I am vaguely offended that they categorised twitter as "a glorified chatroom for memes for people over 30". Like dude. . . that hit me hard. I am happy that FB was never even mentioned as existing tho! Cause let's be honest that is not the "hip" thing anymore. But the rules they put down at the party definitely made my head spin. Had to listen to them twice to even get what was happening.

Oh, you thought my last retrospective was the end?

I can finally talk talk talk again, which is a beautiful and freeing feeling. These are sort of scattered, lost thoughts, because I just wanted to summarize the last 3 generations and some of the Process(tm) behind everything.

General Story Thoughts

Vampires really have been part of the story since the beginning. I really presented berry simblr with this weird, sorta spooky family with bat ears and fangs and tried passing them off as totally normal folks. Somehow, that worked? Dreams do come true.

Originally, Luna was going to live in Forgotten Hollow, but I changed that very last minute. Like, right after I started playing.

The vampires were actually supposed to come to the forefront in Gen 2--Verity Vine was supposed to “sense” them right after her first date with Ries (there’s a scene of her glancing behind her as they leave that clearing, the vampires were actually there!) I pushed them back to Gen 3 and I’m glad I did! I was able to create all the Forgotten Founder lore.

I actually feel pretty good about this as a “first draft.” I know what things I would change now, what should be tightened up.... Even from the first attempt at a reboot.

Now that you know about the vampires, I can explain more about how heirs are chosen... It’s the bat ears. If a child has bat ears, I generally roll to see if they have fangs.

In addition to bat ears and fangs, heirs usually do have some supernatural talent, one that might not be obvious at first. It may or may not come up in the future, but for reference...

Verity Vine is a natural dreamwalker, which we have known since the beginning.

Kabinett was seeing glimpses into the future, guys. He was having prophetic dreams the whole time. That’s why I kept insisting he wasn’t dreamwalking.

Had Maddy been Turned, she would have very much been a Succubus... Her talent is literally being desirable.

Generation 3 Thoughts

From the moment I knew I was doing “double heirs,” I knew Kabi was going to die. Really. It made it very... strange, to finally reach that point, in story, when I had already made my mental peace with it years ago.

The biggest changes were OJ’s path, and Maddy’s final form. Maddy was supposed to lose her memories, and would be forever trying to figure out what happened that night (which is sad)! 

Obviously, the biggest inspirations for Gen 3 were 80s movies and Stranger Things, as well as... Frozen! Elsa & Anna were lowkey inspirations for Kabi and Maddy, and I remember once saying that Kabi’s love story was “more Frozen and less romantic.” 

I think, if I do redo gen 3, I would make that clearer--I think at the end of the day, Kabi and OJ both sort of confused their “I love you but more than a friend” feelings. Kabi’s greatest concern was really always that OJ wouldn’t be part of his family.

Epilogue Specific Thoughts

Each epilogue was a scene I wanted to include when I was planning on a much, much longer (but different) storyline.

Kabinett’s first reveal was always going to be to Luna, after she and Maddy returned from their trip. I cut the events of their trip, though. They aren’t that important to Maddy’s arc, really. That became the first epilogue.

Sage was always going to stick around and be Maddy’s rock, so once I decided Maddy was going the vampire hunter route, I knew Sage needed to be the Willow she was always meant to be. Thus, her epilogue.

The third epilogue was actually just going to be an edit. I wanted to give The Sauce and the Murder Barn a proper send off, and originally it was to Chainsaw by Nick Jonas... And then Taylor dropped folklore and we got exile featuring the Sauce’s Demons.

This is not what his original end was--for a really long time, he was Maddy’s end game. I was pretty committed to it, and what happened was... I was driving home one day, trying to figure out reboot shit, and I just.... knew it was Ojaddy. It had to be them in the end. This was like, last year-ish. I actually stopped driving and messaged Sam like “I WAS WRONG, OJADDY IS THE END GAME” which was pretty out of the blue, ngl.

The fourth epilogue being Veriling was because I was intending on a longer, ongoing arc for Veri dealing with depression/child loss. It got condensed into that awful, sad scene that I love.

OJ’s epilogue was a VERY early scene I wrote, back when he was supposed to leave PB Bay for years and years and years and come back when Maddy was like. 30. Yeah, Kabi was always going to come back and be like “You need to let me go, bud. Please. Date my sister, carry on my family line.”

And of course... Maddy Moon. Once I knew Maddy wasn’t losing her memories of that night, that she was going to go for vampires, I knew I needed her to dust Azura. That last line of hers was what the whole thing was built around lmao

There was actually a bigger scene where she drew the Orange vampire in by flirting, and then OJ arrived and Maddy broke character bc that’s my husband fiance!

But I really wanted to finish this so... We got a rushed, condensed scene.

Reboot...?

Anyway, let’s consider those two up above. It’s kinda weird that I ended on a cliffhanger, where the heirs are on opposite sides of something Big, right? And Maddy just not knowing Kabi’s still technically alive... 

So like. About that:

The spares pretty much disappeared once I called Gen 3 done. In the reboot-version of the story (Lunacy), I cut out a LOT of Veriling’s kids.... Like I halved the amount.

I was purposefully very vague about tagging Kabi’s vampire moodboard as Kabinett Puck. That’s because I’ve been considering Veri taking Ries’ last name in the reboot, and most of my notes refer to him as Kabi Puck.

I also introduced several things that you’d think I would expand on in the epilogues, right? Luna’s gift to OJ, Maddy the Vampire Slayer... Like, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into there!

So... As we hit the epilogues, the timelines of the “reboot” and the “original draft” sort of... merged in my mind. And I really... really... want to keep exploring this world, and finishing Gen 3 off actually helped me decide certain things I would rather do with Lunacy Gen 1. 

This is a very confusing way of trying to explain that... I’m not canceling the reboot, but we are continuing... with Gen 4. Probably soon! I want to play with Ojaddy a bit, because they deserve a bit of a break, and you’ll start seeing Slice of Life stuff on my main soon.

In the meantime, coming up on this blog, I have a fun little project staring Sage that I can’t WAIT to start posting! And eventually... We’ll move back to @simmancy. Not just with my hell project (the Masquerade AU), but also with actual... bpr... content. So if you like these characters... Good news! They’re going Into the New World! And if you don’t like them, well... I think their kids are pretty cool, so. There’s that.

Alright so basically i dreamt that i found a side blog that looks like they had similar interests as you and only posted edits, and in the bio it was linked to another blog, url similar to ramonapest but it involved the world rat. Theres more wait for part 2 and combine

The asks. Alright so this not ramonapest but similar url blog had a similar theme like yours but the colour was more of a light candy pink. And i thoight there was no bio but thdn i scrolled down and there was one and it was you but you were going by the name nellie and you mentioned rat and ballet and rocks in your bio. But anyway the reason why i went to the edits side blog's main blog is because when i say i found the edits side blog it was really because i saw an edit on my dash and (part 3)

Felt like your style so i ws like??? Rory????? But also the edit was a ziaylor edit and i was like no way why would rory keep that a secret from us? Ranking the Harry Potter movies: from worst to best!

8. The Order of the Phoenix

The reason why OOTP is my least favorite, is because it’s way too short and full of plot holes. In general, I do like the film, but for me it’s just a bit lame, it could have so much potential to add more scenes to it!  For example, Ginny (Bonnie Wright) is a bit shy, which is the opposite of how she was described in the novel. But, I’m glad Luna made her first appearance. Sirius’ death really made me cry. Though, the director could have done better.

7. The Goblet of Fire

Moving on to the 7th place, we have the fourth movie in the franchise. When I watched it for the first time, I felt like I was watching a race! Jeez, it was going way too fast for me. The director, Mike Newell, cut out too many scenes taken from the book. In the movie, it starts with Harry having a nightmare and waking up in the Burrow, while in the book, he wakes up in his own room at Privet Drive! They changed many things, and it was too short. 

6. Deathly Hallows Pt. 2

I kind of like this one. Because of the Final Duel and the battle of Hogwarts, I like it. But how it ended... yes, I’m now talking about the 19 Years Later scene. They could have made the scene longer, with Albus meeting Scorpius, and sitting awkwardly in the train. I wish it ended like that! I was hoping on less people dying.. like Fred, Remus, Tonks, Colin Creevey, Lavender Brown... it made me sad. But the movie hasn’t got any plot holes, that’s why I ranked it higher in this list. 

5. The Half-Blood Prince 

Now, this movie is pretty epic. In my opinion, better than the novel. It shows a lot of emotions. Even though Voldy isn’t in this one, it’s darn good, I would say that it’s full of action! The Death Eaters burning the Burrow, is an emotional but good scene. We get treated with a lot of funny Harry/Hermione discussions in this one, because of that darned book! In short: good film.

4. The Chamber of Secrets

This one is really nice! Dobby making a bad boy entrance in this one is so good. I like the scene with Aragog, love how Rupert Grint acted there. Fun fact: also in real life, Rupert is afraid of spiders! The Basilisk was some pretty cool CGI animation, and looked darn real. But the main character for me in this film is just Dobby. So cute!

3. The Philosophers Stone

Okay, stop the Philosophers or Sorcerers discussion, because it’s just Philosophers. This movie brings back the pure nostalgia! I remember being scared of the Voldemort face when I was 7. Even now, as a teen, it gives me chills. Love how Harry meets Hagrid and how they go to Diagon Alley. This film is just a recap of Harry being amazed by the fact that this world even exists. Awesome movie, except Hermione is a bit nasty in the beginning. She always is (just kidding).

2. Deathly Hallows Pt. 1

This part is way, WAY better than the second one. It’s really long, and I love long movies. Bellatrix throwing the knife at Dobby is a really nasty one. Especially when you need to see the cutest badass character in the entire franchise die. I like the fact that Dobby reappeared. Though, this one was a bit creepy as well. I mean, Nagini? 

1. The Prisoner of Azkaban

We did it, we came at number one, guys! POA is my favorite of all time! We were introduced to the Golden Trio finally hitting puberty (like a truck, might I add) and Hermione punching Malfoy, hell yeah). Love the idea that Sirius was seen as a crazy and dangerous prisoner being Harry’s godfather. He seems to be an innocent guy at last. The werewolf version of Lupin and the Dementors make this film the most exciting for me! Best film ever!

Worldbuilding: Genetics

If any of my Deconstruction posts were going to turn heads, I had a hunch it would be this one. You’ll probably find this topic incongruous with the others simply because—unlike Aura, Semblances, Dust, and Grimm—genetics isn’t one of RWBY’s unique gimmicks. If I’m being entirely honest, part of why this post exists is because I still had some miscellaneous talking points to address, but lacked a proper heading to file them under. Call it what it is: a dumping ground for wayward thoughts.

But there’s a bit more to it than just that. The reason why I want to talk about this is because, much like the other mechanical aspects, genetics does have a bearing on RWBY’s worldbuilding, and the stories that were subsequently built around it. It has an undeniable impact on the sociopolitical human-Faunus schism that set the stage for Remnant’s immediate past, and the present-day terrorist acts committed by the White Fang. Genetics is also an extension of RWBY’s adherence to color theory, reflected in the hair and eye color choices of the ensemble cast.

Before we can finally conclude Part 1 of the Worldbuilding posts, we need to discuss this topic from both a narrative and a production standpoint. Genetics is firmly rooted in the development and design choices of the writers—choices which, as you’ll quickly see, had long-lasting consequences for the show.

Today we’re going to be dividing this topic into two sections. Since I’m sure it’s already on your mind, let’s get the obvious one out of the way first:

The Genetics of the Faunus

The Faunus are going to have an entire post dedicated just to them, but it’s impossible to talk about genetics without at least a passing mention of one of Remnant’s two main species.

Subspecies.

Races?

Yeah. You can quickly see where this is going.

Before I get ahead of myself, let me provide some context. Just like the conception of the Maidens, the Faunus can trace their developmental history to a rather impulsive design choice:

“Monty really wanted a character with cat ears,” admits Miles Luna. Shawcross expands on how Blake Belladonna’s look resulted in a cornerstone of the show’s lore. “So if Blake has cat ears, does that mean anyone can have cat ears? Could they have other animal traits? It’d be cool to see someone with scales or a fox tail…” [1]

Let me clarify by saying that there’s nothing wrong with basing a decision on aesthetics (in principle, anyway). And RWBY isn’t the only franchise guilty of doing this. It only takes a few seconds of consulting TV Tropes to see that zoomorphism is extremely pervasive. And while I have a tendency to complain a lot on this blog, I’m not such a kvetch that I’ll deny that animal-people with lion tails and ram horns look fucking sweet.

The problem I have with Faunus (from a genetic standpoint) is the way they’re inconsistently described in relation to humans. While Qrow unambiguously refers to them as a separate species, [2] we have Faunus characters that contradict him by describing themselves as a race. [3] This leads to the inevitable issue of whose account do we trust? On one hand, the information provided to us by Qrow is through World of Remnant, a spin-off series whose entire purpose is to clarify information and teach the audience about core worldbuilding concepts. On the other hand, what we’re told about the Faunus being a race comes directly from Ghira Belladonna. In this context, who would you expect to be the better authority on Faunus—a human, or a Faunus?

Even if we set aside the complicated implications of an outgroup member talking over a minority, we’re still left with the issue of well, which is it? Are they a race or a species? And why does it even matter?

Before we can answer any of those questions, let’s quickly define both terms:

A species is a taxonomic rank used for classifying groups of organisms together on the basis of being able to participate in genetic interchange via sexual reproduction, to produce fertile offspring.

A race (in biology) is an informal/unrecognized taxonomic rank below subspecies, defined as unique subgroups with either geographic, physiological, or genetic distinctions from other subgroups within their species. In anthropology, however, a race is typically regarded as a social construct. In this case, it refers to an identity held by members of a population that share physical or social qualities that are seen as categorically distinct.

The answer, if we’re being objective, is probably something along the lines of “RWBY’s writers thought that the two terms were interchangeable, or they didn’t think the distinction mattered enough to do the research and settle on a definition.” Unless someone specifically reached out to a Rooster Teeth employee and asked, we’ll never truly know. Speculation will only get us so far, and where this blog is concerned, we need a definitive answer—or at the very least, we need to talk about why the distinction matters to us.

So, are Faunus their own race? Meaning, are they a self-identifying ethnic group with a common language, ancestry, history, culture, nation, or social treatment within their residing area?

Common language: That’s a definite no. RWBY still hasn’t managed to explain how everyone across the four kingdoms speaks the same language, let alone develop any conlangs.

Ancestry: We actually don’t have a canon answer for this. The show has yet to tell us where the Faunus came from, so we can’t make any assumptions about how related they are to one another.

History: Technically, yes. But the series has a gross tendency to homogenize the experience of Faunus across Remnant, so the history of Faunus in Vale is virtually identical to that of Mistral. This trend results in storytelling discrepancies, like the Faunus in culturally-unprejudiced Vacuo [4] being equally threatened by and involved with the Faunus Rights Revolution, when there shouldn’t have been an in-world basis for this scenario.

Culture: Don’t make me laugh. RWBY couldn’t even be bothered to give any of its four kingdoms distinct cultures. Apart from a few scenes in Menagerie where you see a bunch of background characters hanging out in the Shallow Sea district of Kuo Kuana, there really isn’t anything culturally unique to the Faunus.

Nation: I guess? I personally wouldn’t consider Menagerie a nation, simply because it’s not one the Faunus originated from, but were rather given in the aftermath of the Great War. As far as we know, Faunus have always been just as widespread across Remnant as humans.

Social treatment: We’re told that social treatment for the Faunus as a whole is shitty, but that the degree of shittiness varies from place to place. Forgive me if I don’t buy that. Not after we’ve seen students in Vale physically harass a Faunus, [5] shops in Mistral refuse service to Faunus, [6] and companies in Atlas extract labor from Faunus. [7] If social treatment is contingent on shared experiences, then why are we told that these experiences change depending on the kingdom? And if the kingdoms vary in levels of racial acceptance, then why are we repeatedly shown the exact opposite?

Based on the aforementioned criteria, I’m inclined to say that Faunus don’t fit the definition of race.

So, are the Faunus a separate species from humans?

That’s a resounding no.

As much as the taxonomist in me wants to talk about things like the multiple competing species concepts, or the fact that plants frequently violate the definition of species by producing fertile hybrids through polyploidy (chromosomal doubling), I have to restrain myself. For simplicity’s sake, we’re accepting that Faunus and humans are members of the same species on the basis that they’re not reproductively isolated.

The reason why genetics matters in regards to the race-species discourse is because we have yet to learn what the Faunus truly are. If we ignore the fact that they exist because Monty Oum wanted to stick cat ears on a girl, then we have to figure out what their existence means to Remnant’s past: Did the Brother Gods intervene in the early evolution of Humanity v2.0, by creating a subset of people with animal traits that would sow discord, for the sole purpose of giving Ozma another obstacle to overcome? Did Salem (who watched Humanity v2.0 evolve) try to influence their evolution, and somehow managed to bestow animalistic traits upon select groups of early hominids? Is Dust like a magically-radioactive fossil fuel that by pure chance mutated early people through exposure, resulting in their animalistic traits? Are the Faunus’ animal traits completely irrelevant to the plot, and are only there for the sake of style?

That’s why the Faunus’ genetic background matters—because as the story progresses, it’s going to inform what questions the audience asks.

There’s a good chance that all of this will end up being nitpicky conjecture, and there won’t be any storytelling payoff. But I think it’s still important to address, if for no other reason than to illustrate why pre-production worldbuilding is essential for telling a coherent story. But I digress.

Genetics, and Its Relationship with Color Theory

It goes without saying that RWBY is defined by color. It’s reflected in nearly every facet of the franchise—team names, wardrobe, Dust color, Aura color, emblems, characters’ names, even the show’s title—and it’s just as important from a worldbuilding standpoint as it is from a narrative one. [8]

Where color theory and genetics cross paths is in the field of character appearance—specifically, hair and eye color. For the moment, let’s set aside eye color as a visual device for foiling and paralleling characters (like Yang Xiao Long’s purple eyes compared to Blake Belladonna’s yellow eyes). Instead, we’re going to talk about these phenotypes from a hereditary perspective.

We’re going to streamline this discussion a bit by focusing on hair for the moment, and picking three colors that would be considered unnatural by our world’s standards. Let’s go with blue, green, and pink. Here’s a handful of characters who have these traits:

Blue hair: Neptune Vasilias, Ciel Soleil, Henry Marigold, May Marigold, Nebula Violette, Sky Lark, Trifa

Green hair: Emerald Sustrai, Marrow Amin, Bartholomew Oobleck, Reese Chloris, Russel Thrush, Sage Ayana

Pink hair: An Ren, May Zedong, Nadir Shiko

Now we’re going to take those lists and swap out the characters’ names for their inferred country of origin:

Blue hair: Mistral, Atlas, Atlas, Atlas, Vacuo, Vale, Menagerie

Green hair: Vale, Atlas, Vale, Mistral, Vale, Mistral

Pink hair: Mistral, Vacuo, Mistral

We can conclude that these hair colors are natural on the basis that we never see characters dying their hair, and that similarly unusual eye colors (red, pink, purple, yellow) would also be natural in Remnant. Unless we’re assuming that everyone is wearing custom contact lenses, then it’s safe to say they’re legit. With the example of hair color, you’ll notice that they’re distributed across a wide number of nationalities, with little hint of consistency among them.

At the end of the day, it’s easy to write this off as “the writers wanted to have cool character designs and not have to think too hard about the worldbuilding implications behind them.” But there is a worldbuilding implication behind them, and it’s one that I’ll be focusing on in later Deconstruction and Amendment posts, so I want to make sure we talk about it now:

RWBY has repeatedly shown us that people are fairly geographically isolated from each other, and travel between kingdoms has always been difficult due to the Grimm. It wasn’t until eighty years ago, when the Great War ended, that a combo of international political cooperation and technological advancements made travel safer and more commonplace. Keep in mind that when populations of humans are geographically isolated from each other over prolonged periods of time, it results in those populations evolving specific anatomical traits.

Let me give you a few real world examples. Epicanthic folds are predominantly found in East Asian, Polynesian, and North Asian ethnic groups. Red hair, while not exclusive to any one nationality, is statistically highest in people of Northwestern European ancestry. Darker complexion is most common in equatorial populations, where high melanin production (especially eumelanin) protects against UVR exposure.

RWBY has every reason under the sun to ascribe certain phenotypes to the ethnicities of each kingdom, and for some reason it just doesn’t. Like, why not make green hair a trait common to people with Sanus ancestry? How about red eyes originating from Anima?

Avatar: The Last Airbender pulled this off by making dark skin, brown hair, and blue/gray eyes features of the Water Tribes. The Fire Nation, to reflect its broader geographic distribution, has a much wider range of phenotypes, with both light and dark skin tones and black or brown hair. However, it still retained golden, amber, and bronze eyes as a distinguishing characteristic of people descended from this ancestry. Frankly, I love that the show took the time to establish those traits among its ethnic groups. Not only was it a great way to visually communicate to the audience the ethnicity of the characters, but those traits took on entirely new meanings in the sequel Avatar: The Legend of Korra. When we meet the brothers Mako and Bolin for the first time and see their respective eye colors—amber and green—we’re immediately able to deduce that they’re the products of successful multiculturalism, something that would’ve seemed impossible seventy years ago when the world was gripped by war. It’s a powerful statement that was conveyed through careful attention to detail and excellent worldbuilding. Given that RWBY also takes place several decades after a global war, the writers had the opportunity to pull off a similar feat. And I don’t think it ever occurred to them once.

At the end of the day, it’s not the worst thing RWBY could’ve done. I think I’m just disappointed by the missed opportunities. The show already has so little going for it when it comes to shaping the identities of its four main kingdoms, so with color being such a vital motif for the show, this feels like it should have been a natural progression of those ideas.

On a more positive note, we’ve finally reached the end of Worldbuilding (Part I) - Mechanical Aspects! Next time, we’ll get to introduce the second section of worldbuilding topics: history.

1) what color is your tc’s hair?

It’s dirty blonde, nothing special XD

2) is your tc married?

He isn’t married but has a boyfriend.

3) if yes, do you care? would you do something with them regardless of their marriage?

Even if he wasn’t in a relationship I wouldn’t do anything because I wouldn’t want to put him in a position where he’d be uncomfortable and could lose his job, I care to much about him.

4) what’s your worst memory with your tc?

Probably anytime I have gotten angry and yelled at him and stormed out of class he never seemed to think of me any different though because I always came back to class and apologised, I usually was really upset when stuff like that happened.

5) what’s your best memory with your tc?

I actually have quite alot of great memories with him but probably without saying too much about myself or him it was when I was working on one of my main pieces to pass my class.

6) does anyone in your school know how you feel?

Only a really close friend at the time knew, but It’s kind of obvious that I liked him now that I think hopefully him and no one else could tell or knew I liked him.

7) does your tc know how you feel?

Nope and I kind of hope he won’t ever find out, the only way he’d find out is if he somehow found this blog.

No he probably thinks of me as another student, and he probably would never feel the same since I’m way younger then him.

I can’t since I no longer see him (I’m in college now)

I probably have attempted to in the past but I’m really bad at flirting.

11) how long have you had a crush on them? what began it all?

Well it started around 2017-2018 I think, I initially denied it and just brushed it off as a silly little crush that would eventually fade, unsurprisingly It didn’t fade at all so I made this blog in hopes it would help me vent out my feeling from him and they’d fade in time but the feeling I have for him haven’t faded at all for me, honestly I don’t know what began it all maybe it was because he is and this is awkward to say but he is my type, also he kind of remined me of this actor I really like (same mannerisms and stuff), he was really sweet towards me too.

12) do you believe you’ll get over them shortly after you stop taking their class/have the chance to spend time with them?

Seeing as its been a year since I last had his class I don’t think I ever will get to spend time with him again as a student, I have seen him outside of a school setting earlier this year and we caught up and talked for about 10-15ish minutes or so but that was by coincidence that we were in the same shop.

13) what kind of grades do you get in their class?

I got pretty good grades in his class, mainly since I listened the most during his classes and payed attention and due to the fact he taught my favourite subject.

14) does your tc ever do any tiny, little things that you adore?

I honestly don’t know what to write here since I just adored alot of the tiny thing he did.

In all honesty I think I defiantly was one of his favourites, I usually made sure to make an effort of talk to him outside of classes and stuff.

We both liked musicals, I got him into my favourite genre of shows/movies (not naming it since I don’t want to share much info about myself on here), we both liked similar tv shows and movies, we even gave each other tv and movie recommendations.

I don’t really but I listen to songs that make me think about him and I recently found out that the song Line without a hook by Ricky Montgomery makes me think about him alot.

Nothing really stands out to me since most of my favourite things he’s said to me and favourite memories are small and feel to special and personal for me to share on here.

I do have his email but I’ve felt too awkward to ever send him one, maybe I’ll follow him on instagram at some point when I get the courage too.

I go to college now and don’t see him anymore so I just tend to deal with it and live my life and try to remind myself that it’s just a crush and nothing more.

Well yeah he’s openly LGBT

He was my art teacher and tutor at one point, we had him for most of the week except one day out of the whole week for art, but when he was tutor I saw him every day

It’s multiple times in one lesson before it doesn’t help that I get distracted easily.

I did find his instagram and didn’t find out much except he posts quite alot on there.

It happened once this year and I got kind of anxious since I wasn’t expecting to see him while I was out with my friend, especially since I had been talking about him to my friend earlier that day.

Nope.

30) do you regret telling anyone about your tc? if you’ve kept it a secret, why have you done so?

I regret telling one of my friends because she is now able to tease me about the time we ran into him and how I reacted.

I just didn’t like it. I did not like that Roman was hacked off And I REALLY hated was how the romance of Arkos was built up to be smashed down at the end. And after checking up on the other couples, I feel like this is gonna happen again with them)

That his list of characters he list as ‘must die’ is just his ship list AGAIN (’Couples like Arkos and if so, Renora, Arctic Water/iceberg/whatever(more or less, it really didn’t go anywhere so I’m meh about it), and Black Sun have to end tragically, any characters who are like Jaune and Pyrrha, Ren and Nora, Sun and Blake, or Weiss and Neptune must end up dead in the end.‘)

And that his story he’s championing is all about ships too. (But these people try to twist it an say its the fact that these franchises tried to write an expansive storytelling universe in which heroes rise, get married, and have children and pass their wisdom onto them is what allegedly made these stories so terrible, thus making the perfect straw man against these kinds of stories.)

Not to mention the examples he gives for what is good (like Soul Eater, FMAB and Lord of the Rings) don’t make sense with his argument (that shows get too dark) since they’re all either as dark or DARKER.

His response in his now deleted reblog also supports this, as when I called out that he never listed anything except ships that he actually cared about, he said ‘Nope’ and never elaborated on what he actually liked. Or when I called out his examples and he said ‘I guess I’m just picky then.’ even though that conflicts with what he said.

Then we have SJWs thing, which is just an extension of the political bullshit. Now that comment doesn’t really make sense as me not liking people who are demanding and controlling people fits both him and SJWs, to say nothing of how I never mentioned a thing about politics...except if you remember Dudeblade is RABIDLY on that side of the political spectrum so dropping that would be a perfect way of riling him up.

This entire ask is full of manipulative bullshit, which shouldn’t be here if this were the TRUTH.

Started CnD Records today. Feels Good.

Working on some diss tracks. Not sure if they see it coming - doesn’t matter either way.

Planning to release Car and Driver first real record this Friday 3/20/20. Driving Test Driver Fest 1. 

Self release first record - another 20 tracks next week. Compile top 10 - 15 for first release with other label - thinking Terrible, Kranky, blu ish label or Thrill Jockey. Citrus City a no-go for now. Maybe just keep building CnD records.
