For the minific ask meme: Jiang Yanli and U. coming home.
So
I LOVE this prompt. Thank you !!! What i wanted to do with this took a few brain jumps. First, i wanted a story about soup and about Yanli feeling like her role is to use soup to stabilize everything and heal. Then, i thought about writing a dark Yanli that haunts JC -- but that’s so OOC I decided not to go there. Finally I settled on this. It has been in my head for over a month, trying to figure out how I want to write this. Thank you for your patience!

Zhongyuan Festival. Earth Offical’s Pardoning. The fifteenth day of the seventh month. On this day, the doors of the underworld opened and Jiang Yanli found herself walking hand-in-hand with her husband towards the world of the living.
They traveled first to Carp Tower. Zixuan wanted to unite with their son and his family before seeing A-Cheng. Their gossamer forms breezed over the tower stairs and into the main complex. The small lotus pond Zixuan had built for her was abandoned -- brown lotus stems and dried lily pads stuck out of drier ground.
Zixuan squeezed her hand and they headed towards his family’s Ancestral Hall. Jin Guangyao was in the midst of orchestrating a grand ceremony to honor the ancestral spirits. Jin Ling could not be found. Zixuan stepped before his still grieving mother, knelt, kowtowed thrice with tears in his eyes. He then stood up and tried to comfort her with intangible hands; they trailed over her shoulders and cupped around her face. Jiang Yanli bit her lip and looked away.
After half a shichen of listening to insufferable ceremonies, Jiang Yanli grew impatient. Zixuan noticed her anxious hands and returned by her side. Jiang Yanli took her husband’s hand, “Let’s go see A-Cheng and Ling’er.”
Together they folded the fabric of existence and stepped over to Lotus Pier. Crossing the threshold, they flew over the familiar lotus motif of the training grounds, straightened and then landed before the sword practice hall. Walking down the wooden corridors, Jiang Yanli traced her fingers through the hated cracks and scorch marks left from the Sunshot Campaign. A-Cheng kept them intentionally, persevering their appearance. They served to motivate the new disciples, to guide people in righteousness, and to remind everyone what the sect had once lost.
She glided along the familiar winding paths, missing the way wood once felt beneath her feet. She loved the twists and turns, like life, like rivers, like fate. There was something comforting to the seemingly inefficient corridors of her childhood home. Zixuan trailed behind, commenting occasionally on the beauty of said home.
A few lotus species remained in bloom in the late summer. Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan stopped to admire the multi-layered ombre hues; their bodies hovering over the flowers, their hands failing to make the flowers waver at their touch.
When they finally stepped into the Jiang Sect Ancestral Hall, Jiang Yanli realized Lotus Pier had been strangely devoid of people this entire time. Had A-Cheng sent everyone else away?
A pot of Lotus root and pork rib soup, plates of sweet and fragrant pastries, fresh fruit, and fresh lotus pods were set out as offerings for Jiang Yanli, for her parents, and for the other ancestors. A-Cheng sat at the edge of the lotus altar, as she often did after their parents’ death. Ling’er squirmed in A-Cheng’s left arm as his left hand held a wooden tablet. His right hand was pointing at the text on the tablet -- the tablet with her name.
“A-Ling, this is my Jiejie, your mother. She was the most amazing person. I hope you grow up to be strong, kind, and intelligent, just like her,” A-Cheng said as he bounced Ling’er on one knee, his voice cracking as he spoke.
Zixuan let go of her hand and she lunged forward, wrapping her arms around her little brother and her child. Shortly after, Zixuan sat down next to her and held his hand out to caress their toddler son. They had missed so many months of his infancy.
“Ling-er is so big now. He has gotten half again as big as he was when I last saw him,” Zixuan said.
Jiang Yanli hovered her hand over her child’s head, “He babbles now. I wonder who he talks to. Is the wetnurse good for him? Does he have friends? Is he lonely? Is there someone to respond to his babbling?” Her vision blurred as she blinked back tears.
The two of them sat by A-Cheng and Ling’er, watching A-Cheng play with the boy and teach the boy. Who would bet someone with as deadly a title as Sandu Shengshou would be so gentle with a child?
Ling’er became fussy and A-Cheng set him down. The baby pulled himself up by A-Cheng’s robes and reached up to ask for A-Cheng’s hand.
“You can do this yourself,” A-Cheng responded gently and shooed Ling’er away from him.
Ling’er’s bottom lip quivered.
“I know you can walk if you try. Look, I’ll catch you if you fall, ok? But at least try. Maybe your parents are here. It would be nice if they were around to see you take your first steps.”
A-Cheng picked up Ling’er, stood up, and set Ling’er next to the altar for stability. Then he took 3 large steps back, squatted down, and motioned for the baby.
Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan watched, captivated by the two of them. Would they really be so lucky to witness their child’s first steps today?
Ling’er reached for his uncle. He took a few steps balanced against the altar and then pushed off. A step, two steps, and then teetered forward. Zidian flew out and caught the child. “A-Ling, good job! If only your mother were here, she would be so proud of your first steps!”
Jin Zixuan yelled, “Zidian! A vicious spiritual weapon was just used on our baby! What is your brother thinking? That’s dangerous!”
Jiang Yanli smiled, “A-niang taught us how to walk like this. Zixian knows bloodlines and the owner’s intent. It can be as steady as a banister while feeling more gentle than a dandelion puff.”
They spent the rest of their day with A-Cheng. They watched Ling’er be fed, be held, be coddled. They watched A-Cheng patiently teaching, softly holding, and playfully carrying the boy. Ling’er clung to A-Cheng and A-Cheng to Ling’er. Afterall, they were the closest blood relatives each other had.
Time flew and night fell. A-Cheng took Ling’er to the market on the docks. Jiang Yanli knew the day was ending; her time here was ending. A-Cheng purchased a violet and gold lotus with nine intricate petals and a candle shaped like a lotus pod. He set Ling’er down and handed the lantern to the boy.
“Hold.”
Ling’er took the lantern by a corner, waved it, and dropped it to play with the lotus pod candle that fell out. Jiang Yanli felt Zixuan’s arm around her waist squeeze her close. If they were still part of the living, watching her brother and her child bond like this would be bliss.
A-Cheng picked up the lantern, took Ling’er’s hands and set the candle inside. He then lit the wick with his spiritual energy. The light from the flame flickered, casting violet and gold shadows over the uncle and nephew duo who belonged to the sects of violet and gold.
A-Cheng swooped Ling’er into an arm and gently set the lantern in the water with his free hand. Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan felt themselves drawn towards the lotus lantern. They held each other close and watched A-Cheng walk away with Ling’er towards Lotus Pier. They stood in place but the pull of the lantern carried them away. Lotus Pier slowly faded as they returned to the Earth Offical’s realm.
Notes:
So
there are 3 [something]-yuan festivals. Shang means upper. Zhong means middle. Xia means bottom. They all have an associated saying: for Shangyuan Festival, Heaven Offical’s Blessing (yes, like the title of the novel); for Zhongyuan Festival, Earth Offical’s Pardoning; for Xiayuan Festival, Water Offical’s Salvation. (uh
I chose salvation here because the chinese means relieving/saving from distress/suffering).
I don’t like the sound of A-Ling, so i went with Ling’er. I think JC would try to keep his sister’s naming convention and stick with A-Ling
but I also think Yanli might call Jin Ling Ling’er, especially since er can mean child. E.g. Ying’er LITERALLY means infant so uh
WWX probably didn’t get that name for a reason. XD Though i can see gremlin CSSR calling him that

Yes, Jin Ling is too young to walk. Maybe JC feeds him spiritual energy when he plays with the baby and so Jing Ling developed a bit faster? IDK. I wanted the story to be set on the Zhongyuan Festival so I fudged childhood development a little. I can also see Jiang Cheng intentionally trying to make Jin Ling do things younger so he can be “better than” or “beat” WWX at things
 :/
I think this is only a little sad? Or it starts off sad and ends on an ok note? I’m curious to see what people think

Ben is an exotic dancer (pole & lap) and he does a dance on the pole in the prince albert. He also gives Callum a more private, intimate and exotic show when they get home
Hii!! I finally managed to finish this prompt! To apologize for the delay, this is like x3 longer than what I usually write. I hope you like it, thank you soo much <3<3

“Cheer up lil bro!” Stuart says with a light punch to Callum’s arm. “This is an amazing place and I’m sure gonna enjoy it more if you’re not pouting all the way there.”
“I’m not pouting.” Callum grumbles, definitely pouting.
Callum had officially come out to Stuart a couple days ago. Stuart had his suspicions, but never took the first step in talking to Callum about it, wanting Callum to tell him when he was ready. It took Callum 27 years, but finally during a casual breakfast with his brother, he had blurted the words out. Stuart had taken a few moments to reply, moments of silence where Callum’s heart was doing a leap out of his chest. Eventually, he had given a huge smile and hugged Callum.
Stuart had felt like Callum coming out to him burnt a few bridges in their relationship. They could bond freely now, with Callum not holding back about his love life. He knew that Callum had doubts though. Those dark thoughts on the back of his mind, telling him that he’d never be fully accepted. He had seen them in Callum’s eyes, looking at his big brother with hesitancy even though Stuart’s reaction was warmer than he could ever imagine.
To make Callum feel more confident about his identity and more secure in their relationship, Stuart had suggested taking Callum out to this bar he knew. Callum had tried to reject it many times, but Stuart wouldn’t take no for an answer. That’s how Callum found himself dressed in a nice shirt and coat, walking the few minute way to the bar with his over-excited brother.
“You are. Come on Cal, work with me here. This will be good for the both of us. Us Highway’s enjoying a night out! We haven’t gone out together in so long, I wanna go party with my brother.” Callum deflated in the face of Stuart’s enthusiasm. He still wasn’t feeling very good about it, but he put on a smile nonetheless, to make Stuart happy.
After a few short moments, Callum was staring at a place called The Prince Albert. The bar looked like any else on the outside, with dark walls and a few windows. Stuart gave him a side way hug. “You ready?”
Callum just nodded with his head and marched the last steps to the entrance. He took a big breath before holding the door handle. Stuart could go a little crazy on their “Bro Nights Out”. Stuart gave him a little smile, as if to assure Callum that everything would be alright, with that Callum pulled at the door.
No amount of time he spent breathing could prepare Callum for the sight he was seeing. That cold exterior left its place to colors everywhere, colors of the rainbow to be exact. Callum’s mind stopped for a few seconds, before piecing the puzzle.
“You brought me to a gay bar?” he shouted, turning to Stuart faster than the wind.
Stuart took a step back. He had expected Callum to be shocked but definitely not this angry.
“I thought it would be good for us to bond! Come on Callum you have to accept who you are. I know and I don’t care!” Stuart was determined to not Callum back out of this. He was going to make sure Cal got in and got out proud.
“Come on Stu! I know that you’re okay with it, that does not mean that we have to go to a gay bar though. We could just go to the Vic and have a couple of drinks.”
“Callum, we’re here and we’re going in. So just fix your shirt and put on a smile! I’m gonna shove you in if you don’t move though, I’m freezing.”
Callum sighs, admitting that he lost the fight. His first gay bar and he was there with his brother. The thought made him anxious and a little happy down below.
The Albert was more than anything Callum could imagine. There was a long bar decorated with color, a few tables and a dance floor that seemed to fit all of Walford. What took Callum by surprise though, was the dancers. There were poles situated around the dance floor and a muscly guy wearing just golden shorts by each of them.
Callum headed straight to the bar, not paying attention to anything surrounding him, pushing through a sea of people. If he was going to be here all night with his brother, he needed to be drunk. He needed to be drunk fast. He grabbed the closest stool, situated himself on it and raised his hand for the bartender to see. It took a few minutes for the bartender to acknowledge him, but then he smiled big and walked over to where Callum was sitting.
The bartender was, well, hot. He was tall and had dark hair with kind eyes and a genuine smile. A bit like Callum, almost. Callum snuck a glance at him, trying to keep his gaze from Stuart’s. Stuart hadn’t said a word to him since Callum had gone for the bar, sensing that Callum needs some time to take it all in.
“Hey there! What can I get for you?” the guy said, leaning on the counter closer to Callum.
“A shot for me and..” Callum turned to Stuart, silently asking him for what he wanted to order. Stuart took a while to reply so Callum turned back to the bartender. “You know what, make that two. And fast, please.”
“Coming right up” the bartender replied and turned his back to fix their drinks, leaving Callum and Stuart awkwardly standing. After a few moments of silence, Callum inhaled deep again, knowing that at some point he had to say something. Stuart was clearly excited about bringing Callum to the Albert, he couldn’t sit still on his chair, always looking one way or another.
“It’s loud in here.” Callum blurted out, breaking the tension between them.
“Yeah, people seem to be having fun.” Callum had nothing to add. He joined his hands on the bar, silently praying that the bartender would come quick. By some act of God, he did, handing them two tequila glasses with lemons on the side.
Callum reached for his glass as soon as hit the bar counter, swallowing it whole in one go. He signed the bartender for one more and swallowed that one with the same force. He sucked on the lemon, the sour taste helping the flavor in his mouth but not the burning in his throat. Stuart downed his glass as well, turning to Callum with much more intent now.
“Alright bruv, slow down. I don’t want you getting drunk already.” Stuart commented on Callum’s eagerness for tequila. Admittingly, Callum was a lightweight and the shots were making him feel buzzed already but buzzed meant good. Buzzed meant that Callum could let go a bit now.
Callum was deep in thought for a while. He had come out to his brother, who was very supportive and had brought him to a gay bar to celebrate. He had to enjoy it. If not for himself, then for Stuart. So he put on a genuine smile, the first since they arrived at the Albert.
“Well, we didn’t come here to just sit at the bar so let’s dance, shall we?” He asked with enthusiasm. The tequila had definitely helped. Stuart grinned at Callum’s excitement and got up from his stool. Callum did too, turning around to the wild crowd of the bar for the first time.
It didn’t seem so hectic now that Callum had mentally prepared himself for what was ignored behind him. A loud music with a happy melody and fast beats were playing and people were jumping up and down all around. Callum moved to the side of the dance floor, not on the outside but definitely not in the middle either. He was too shy for that. The pole dancers were gone from the stage, Callum noticed. Everyone’s attention was on the main dance floor and so were the lights.
Stuart and Callum jumped up and down for some time, until the music suddenly stopped and the light was turned to the sides.
“I think this is my queue to have a sit.” Stuart chimed in, breathless from all the dancing.
“Yeah, go ahead. I’ll join you in a bit.” Callum replied. He was only half paying attention to Stuart though. His head was wondering why the music had ended.
A guy got up on the stage then. “Walford! Give a shout for our boys.” He shouted through the microphone, dragging the last word out. Everyone around Callum cheered and put their hands up. Callum was really intrigued now.
Music with a slower beat and a sexual undertone started playing, and the boys in the golden shorts walked over to their poles again. Now that Callum’s mind was calm enough to really look, he noticed that the men were really attractive. They were all lean with defined muscles all through their bodies. They started dancing as soon as they reached their stage, each of them putting on a different show. Callum watched them all for the first few seconds, before his eyes landed on the one that was placed on the far right.
The guy was incredible. Callum’s mind struggled to function properly. He moved so easily around the pole, squeezing and flexing his muscles with every move. He was not as tall as the other guys and had a mischievous glance in his eyes. He was confident, that was apparent in his every turn. Callum couldn’t take his eyes off of him.
Near the end of the set, the guy was on all fours, walking towards the edge of the stage. Suddenly his eyes landed on Callum’s and Callum felt shivers running up and down his spine. He was beautiful. So, so beautiful. Callum felt like he was having a panic attack under the dancer’s gaze. He broke off eye contact and rushed to the bar where Stuart was sitting.
Stuart greeted him with a simple “Hey” and a big smile. “Enjoy the show?” he asked, with eyebrows raised and a suspicious look in his eyes.
“Oh, fuck off” Callum replied, too embarrassed to come back with anything else.
“What bruv! The guys were ridiculously hot. You don’t have to be gay to see that.”
“Yeah, well I hadn’t noticed it.” Callum lied. He turned to the bartender to ask for a drink, he needed more booze.
Stuart leaned closer to Callum, “I’m gonna take off. You coming or are you gonna stay?” Stuart was leaving on purpose. He had brought Callum here to celebrate yes, but also he wanted Callum to accept himself and have fun. He knew that that was going to happen only so much when Stuart was still around.
“I think I’m gonna stay for a bit. You alright?” Callum continued.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m an old man now, can’t stay up late as you.” Stuart teased. “See you at home baby brother.” With that he went to the exit, leaving Callum all alone with his emotions.
Callum’s heart hadn’t stopped racing since his eyes had met with the dancer’s. The guy was ferocious, his blue eyes making Callum feel things that he really shouldn’t be feeling at a public place. Callum had felt this way before, with guys that he met on a random cafĂ© or a date from an app but it was never this heightened. Maybe it’s the booze, he thought.
In truth, Callum was tired himself from all the dancing and alcohol in his system, but he had wanted to stay in case there was another show. He couldn’t miss the chance of seeing the devilishly handsome dancer again. So, he sat on the bar, slowly drinking his beer while waiting for the lights to change again.
Callum was deep in thought when he felt someone looking, or really, staring at him. He slowly turned his gaze to the right and their eyes met again.
“You’re looking lonely.” The guy said simply. Callum was baffled, his mind failing to come up with any words. The guy took a beat before he added anything else, eventually speaking again when Callum didn’t.
“Couldn’t help notice you over there.” Ha added a nod with his head towards where the dance floor was. “I’m Ben.”
Even his name was beautiful.
“Callum.”
“You’re not exactly the talkative type, are you? Or are you that scared by me?” Ben was keeping the conversation going.
“Why would I be scared?” Callum could finally use his mouth properly.
“Don’t know. You’re looking like a deer caught in headlights though. Promise I won’t bite unless you ask nicely.”
“Wow. How do you even know that I’m going to ask for anything?” it was Callum’s turn to be confident. He was amazed by the dancer, Ben, he reminded himself. But seeing as Ben was standing next to Callum and trying to have a conversation with him in a sea full of people, Ben was interested in Callum too.
Ben didn’t expect Callum to be witty. Even from the stage he could see in Callum’s eyes that he was a kind soul. Callum looked so pure. He was tall enough that Ben could easily spot him amongst other people and when their eyes had locked, Ben had forgotten to function for a second too. He had changed quickly after the show, wanting to go out and find that boy that was staring at him with bright blue eyes.
“Tell you what, you don’t have to ask for anything but, we can continue this conversation in a much quiet place if you want.”
“Yeah.” Callum replied in one, shaky breath. He wanted to take Ben out of here. He wanted to see what more Ben was capable of.
Ben jumped out of his seat, throwing a glance at Callum before heading for the door. Callum followed, no other option when he was so lost in Ben already.
“Most places are closed at this hour so I can take you to my place if that’s alright.” Ben was nervous. There was something about Callum that made him want to explore all possibilities, and he was afraid that Callum would turn down his offer.
“Well, you already promised not to bite so why not.” Callum answered, surprising himself with how relaxed he sounded. Ben chuckled lightly next to him. The streets were all wide and empty, but they were walking close, shoulders touching each other every few steps. Callum could feel the sensations tingling where they touched.
The walk to Ben’s house took about 15 minutes, so they spent that time making small conversation and getting to know each other. As they were approaching Ben’s house, Ben groaned and squeezed his arm.
“I think I hurt my shoulder during a move today. Might’ve hit the pole too hard.”
“You were, um, breathtaking up there.” Callum replied, instead of acknowledging what Ben said.
“I can give you a private show if you want.” They were staring into each other’s eyes now, bodies fully turned and only an inch between them. Callum didn’t reply with his words, instead he leaned closer to Ben and kissed him softly, lips barely touching. He had wanted to kiss Ben ever since he saw him up close and could examine his face more clearly. Ben didn’t just have a beautiful body and eyes, he was completely stunning.
Ben grunted and threw his hands to Callum’s neck, grabbing the back of his hair. The kiss got deeper and Callum already felt himself getting hard. He took a step back, still holding on to Ben but putting some distance between them to avoid any public humiliation.
Ben grabbed Callum’s hand and leaded him towards a house at the end of the street. When they reached the door, Ben quickly unlocked and pushed Callum in. Callum was on Ben in seconds, kissing and grabbing whatever body part he could reach. He pushed Ben to the door, trapping him with his much bigger body. His leg was at Ben’s crotch and he could feel Ben’s already hardened cock rubbing against it.
They went at it for a while, until Ben pushed Callum away to catch his breath. He looked all over Callum’s face, reds lip and bitten, hair disheveled and going in every direction. He took a hold of Callum’s hand again and directed him to the living room. When they reached the couch, Ben kissed Callum again.
“Sit.”
Callum did as he was told, expecting Ben to be on him in seconds but instead Ben walked over to the speakers placed on the coffee table. He connected his phone and a music started playing, slow and sensual, like the one at the Albert.
Ben slowly walked back to Callum, their eyes never disconnecting. When Ben got in front of him, Callum reached his hands up to Ben’s ass, trying to grip and pull Ben on his lap. Ben just swatted his hands though, not letting Callum touch him yet.
“Sshh, patience lover boy.” He whispered. “I promised I’d put on a show for you.”
Callum was excited. His dick was fully hard now, the expectation of Ben dancing just for him making all the blood rush down under. Ben started swaying slowly and taking off his shirt, hips moving in perfect rhythm with the song. After he got his shirt off, he toyed with the waistband of his jeans, before his hands got lower and he started palming himself through the material.
Callum was so far gone, his body twitching with the need to touch Ben immediately. He tried to stay still but when Ben let out a small moan, he jumped up from where he was sitting and attached himself to Ben. Callum kissed his lips, his neck and went lower with every peck. He pushed Ben’s hands away from his cock and replaced them with his own. Ben was so hard.
Callum undid Ben’s jean button, pushing the clothing down. He pulled off Ben’s underwear after it, leaving Ben exposed. Touching Ben’s naked skin was exhilarating. Callum squeezed Ben’s ass with one hand, while rummaging the other through his torso. Ben was trying to undress Callum, wanting no barrier between their flesh. He pushed Callum away again, slowly undoing the buttons of his shirt and pushing it down his broad shoulders.
“Slow down. We’re both gonna cum like teenagers at this pace.” He joked, a huge grin on his face. He took off Callum’s belt and jeans after, leaving only Callum’s boxers. He teased with his hand, rubbing Callum through his shorts. Callum was moaning and repeating Ben’s name over and over, the touch feeling like electric.
They kept on touching each other, mouths never detaching for more than seconds. Callum wanted more though, he wanted to feel Ben all around him. He walked Ben to the kitchen table and gripped his legs to lift him up. He set Ben on the table, Ben opening his legs instantly to make room for Callum between them. Callum pushed Ben on his back and covered his body with his own.
“You’re driving me crazy.” Callum moaned. Their cocks were sliding against each other, tips already leaking precum. Ben was holding on to whatever part of Callum he could reach, hands roaming around Callum’s back.
“Callum” ben moaned, the name dragged out. His brain could not form any sentences, only CallumCallumCallum running through his thoughts. Callum reached his hand over to their cocks, holding them both with one hand and pumping with force. The touch was a relief to both of them. Callum leaned in to kiss Ben once more, moaning beside his ear.
A few more pumps and they both came, spilling on to Callum’s hand and Ben’s torso. Callum fell on Ben, his muscles not having enough strength to hold him up. They stayed like that, Ben hugging Callum close to his chest and Callum pecking Ben’s shoulder with small kisses. After a while, the stickiness between them got uncomfortable.
Callum groaned against Ben’s and pushed himself up. He looked at Ben and kissed him once more before going to get a paper towel from the kitchen. He washed his hands at the sink and went back to Ben to clean him up.
“That was amazing.” Ben said, his voice sedated and happy.
“That was more than amazing.” Callum added with a laugh of his own. Callum held his hand to Ben for him to take, and lifted Ben off the table. Ben grabbed Callum when he got up, his shaky legs only an excuse for the action.
“I think the sex made me hungry.” Ben chuckled. “Want something to eat? I can make a sandwich.”
“Yeah, that’d be great.” Callum replied. “I hope we won’t eat it on the kitchen table though.”

The Goode Case, 14/14 (Multi) - Juno
Chapter Summary: Jaida, Brita and Jackie try to plan for the three of them to go bowling. Of course, that might not work out quite as planned!
(A/N: So
.. this is the end of TGC! It’s the epilogue, and I wanted to give them all an ending, so here it is. I’ve been so blown away by the support I’ve received for this fic, even though it’s completely insane and no one asked for it! Thank you to everyone who has left me a like, kudos, comment, or just read it and enjoyed it. It really does mean the world! xo Juno)
Tuesday 14thNovember
7.09PM
Brita:Do u want to go bowling this Friday? Xx
Jackie:The three of us??
Jaida:I don’t think three is quite enough sis. Not for a good game. We’ll be done in half an hour!
Brita:LOL if that’s a hint then yes u can ask Jan xx
Jaida smiled to herself. If she hadn’t been thinking it before, she definitely was now. She was having a great time getting to know who Jan was, and what made her tick, these past ten days or so. Hearing Jan’s unbelievable singing voice at full pelt in Jan’s little Fiat 500. Playing around doing lay-ups at the basketball court and normally losing to Jan, even thought she was the shorter of the two. Getting their legs tangled in the sheets at the end of the day

Oh yes. Jaida had enjoyed every minute.
Jackie:Ok, I don’t need to read minds to see how this will go

..
Jaida: lmao really? X
Brita:Enlighten us Jacqueline xx
Jackie:Obvs we three want to go
Jackie:Jai invites Jan
Jackie:Brita wants to invite a gf if Jai is inviting one
Jackie:So now Aiden is coming
Jackie:Aiden always brings Crystal
Jackie:Crystal always brings Gigi
Brita:Aiden isn’t my gf
Jaida:and Im Oprah
Jackie:LOL!
Brita:shush Jai xx
Brita:we just had a couple dates so far thats all xx
Jackie:Ok so I actually laughed
Jackie:Heidi & Nicky heard me
Jackie:So they invited themselves
Jaida:oh that’s cool no problem x
Jackie seemed to see more of Heidi than Jaida did right now. Jaida might have felt strange before, the thought of her friend and her colleague mingling, no careful divide in her mind; but that was fading fast. Nicky had started teaching Heidi some useful French, rather than just more swearing, and now they were organising for Nicky to come into Heidi’s kindergarten class with some basic French for the kids.
As for Brita
well, if there was one thing Jaida had learned about her through the Goode case, it was that she often had a slightly devious ulterior motive in these innocent suggestions. And although Jaida still didn’t feel as if she knew Aiden very well yet, she’d noticed that Brita had never spent more time daydreaming in the office; prompting a few pens being thrown at her by Jackie all last week.
Brita:How many is that? I suck at math lmao
Jackie:is that nine?
Jackie:one more to make it even??
Jaida: Dahlia, I said I would organise something with her
Brita: sis u cant invite Dahl without Rock xx
Jackie:Ok look
Jackie:We can’t have eleven
Jackie:That’s an even weirder number than 3!!
Jackie:Maybe we should stick to us 3
Jackie:No friends
Jackie:no gfs
Jackie:No psychics
Brita:no psychics? So we not going either?? LOL
“Hey, Jaida.” Widow came out of her room, waving to Jaida on the couch, as she walked past to the kitchen. Jaida gave her a smile and a wave back.
Widow was still walking a little slower than usual, but finally getting back into a routine. She’d flown back from KC on Sunday night, but even the week before that, she’d seemingly made some progress. She had even started coming to talk to Jaida, feeling a bit more comfortable sharing things with her.
Jaida was struck with inspiration.
Brita:also Jackie why cant u just type a message in one line Xx
Jaida:I got it, my housemate Widow to make it 12 x
Jackie: Who?

Brita:Jai I thought u said she doesn’t like big crowds xx
Jaida: something tells me things may change x
Friday 17thNovember
7.25PM
“Child, I still don’t get why it’s called football.” Jaida teased Jan, as they sat waiting for their turns to come back round. Heidi was lining up her shot in the distance, but neither Jaida nor Jan knew the scores at this moment. “They don’t even use their feet! They use their hands! And it’s not a ball! It’s an egg! Hand-egg!”
“Jai, if you insult my precious Patriots one more time, I’ll –“
“Jan! Focus!” Heidi was calling her. “Your shot, boo!”
“Be right back after I hit a strike!” Jan reached over to kiss Jaida gently on the lips.
“Oh, so you’re not coming back?” Jaida tutted, unable to stop the grin spreading across her face. Jan playfully slapped her arm and grinned back at her.
The aisles were only good for six people each, so they’d booked two beside each other, and it looked like couples’ night in the opposite lane. Brita’s impressive round of strikes and spares was almost matched by a few strikes from Crystal, all of which she claimed were flukes. She hadn’t stopped laughing all evening, clinging to Gigi, who smiled coolly and pushed her hair out of her eyes whenever Crystal did so. Gigi herself was making a respectable score behind the two of them, claiming to just have a magic touch.
Dahlia, however, kept sinking almost every ball into the drain and sulking as she did so, going into the sixth round with only seven points on the board. Aiden, whose twelve points were almost as bad, ended up insisting on the fences being raised after her third straight round of hitting nothing, prompting Rock to hit trick shots for the rest of the evening, bouncing her bowling balls between the fences and making her turns take twice as long.
It was Widow who came to sit in Jan’s empty seat, the mischievous glint in her eyes slowly returning as the days went on. Jaida returned her smile, and Widow reached and rubbed Jaida’s forearm.
“Thanks for inviting me, sis,” she muttered. “It’s – it’s a good night.”
When Jaida had asked, Widow had hesitated in coming out as part of a large group. Following Tori’s funeral the previous weekend, Widow had insisted on a quiet time all week. But the crowd brought her straight in, particularly Heidi and Brita, who she had already met. She even seemed to click with Jackie almost immediately, both of them shrieking with glee at discovering a mutual love of Overwatch and swapping Xbox names to link up later.
But Jackie and Widow were already competing. On the scoreboard in their lane, Widow was leading the team, but only by two points, with Jackie right behind her, almost matching every single strike. Jaida was enjoying seeing them show competitive sides that they rarely did, both of them playing up the competition by pointing menacingly at each other after each turn. Jaida, Jan, Heidi and Nicky were all lagging behind them, all in a cluster, but none of them minded; they were far too amused by Jackie and Widow to care.
Jaida looked at all their names altogether on the scoreboard, and the other names on the other lane. It still felt a little weird, but Jaida was actively trying to focus on it, and tell herself that it was all good. The separation she’d held onto for so long had crumbled, and here they all were – friends, colleagues, housemates, girlfriends – all in the same space.
And bringing her friends together, into one space in her life, made Jaida feel a lot more complete.
She grinned at Widow and turned to watch Jan, who was picking up every spare bowling ball and testing their weights, before commenting on the balls all being too big and settling on the lowest weight. Jackie, next to her, was giggling at her comment.
“You like them, now that you met them?”
“I hate to admit it, but yeah,” Widow chuckled. “They’re all really, uhm –“
“Exuberant? Energetic?”
“Loud,” Widow chuckled again. “I’m getting a headache. But – they’re all so nice as well.”
They were interrupted by a whoop of joy and a leap in the air; Jan had somehow managed a strike with her tiny ball and was twirling on the spot, her blonde hair spinning a whirlwind round her face and shoulders.
“Your girlfriend – Jan – is she your colleague as well?” Widow motioned to Jan.
“No, I met her through Brita.”
“And the three students? Sorry, I can’t remember their names.”
“I can’t discuss the case, but I met them through work.”
“And the girl with blue hair?”
“That’s Dahlia’s girlfriend, Rock.”
“Rock?” Widow repeated. “As in, rock solid? Rock ‘n’ roll?”
“Yeah,”
Widow’s eyes moved between them all on the opposite lane. Gigi was lazily twirling a finger through one of Crystal’s curls, while Crystal gazed enraptured at the scoreboard, for once still and silent; Gigi seeming to be the only person able to quieten her. Aiden, whose turn it was, held a bowling ball to her torso and was trying to keep a straight face as Brita, stood next to her, held another ball and was somewhat innocently demonstrating which fingers were best to use for the holes.
In their own lane, Jan and Jackie were calling to Nicky, whose turn it was; but Nicky was curled under Heidi’s arm in the booth next to them, her long legs swung over Heidi’s lap, holding her phone and scrolling down while they both stopped for a few seconds, chuckling at whatever was on the webpage they were going through.
Jaida smiled at Widow’s bemused expression. “You’ll get used to them.”

for the fanfic end of the year asks meme (thanks @slytherkins !)
12. favorite character to write about this year: It’s a tie between Eddie Brock/Venom and Sam Winchester. Venom fics have been incredibly fun to write and I’ve really been enjoying writing more humorous fics which is something I used to struggle with. But with Supernatural in its last season I also had a serious resurgence of need to write all the Sam fics!
21. most memorable comment/review:  “M A X I M U M T O A S T BABYBOI NO.”
which totally makes sense in context. Venom had some difficulties operating the toaster.
25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read: Definitely The Holy Grail Bird by @denugis  Not just because she wrote this as a gift fic to me, but because it’s easily one of my favorite fics of all times. This is such an insightful look into Sam and addresses the Winchester’s Chuck Problem so cleverly, but more than that it brought me to tears in the best kind of way, the kind of tears that happen when somebody just gets it so spot on and so beautifully that your heart leaps and aches all at the same time.  If you are a Sam Winchester fan, do yourself a favor and read this immediately if you haven’t yet, and if you’ve already read it, then go read it again
16 fic(s) you completed this year (*saving this one for last since it’s a long response!) I completed 17 fics this year, of which 16 were posted–mainly Supernatural, Venom and MCU. This was such an awesome year for collaborations, big-bangs and fic exchanges. I had the opportunity to work with some truly stellar artists who are all total sweethearts, so thanks again to @sketchydean, @sdeeys, @vebirascanvasand of course @quickreaver for bringing my fics to life so beautifully. Thanks also to everybody whose prompts I filled for various events, and big thanks to my amazing betas for saving me from my own bad writing habits
Links, fic summaries, and gorgeous art banners below the cut!

Midnight Snack - Eight hours is way too long to wait until breakfast. Venom makes snacks while Eddie is sleeping. Unfortunately the toaster gives them some issues. (3k words)
They Say It’s Your Birthday - Venom asks Dan to help throw a surprise birthday party for Eddie. (3k words | written for the chocolate box gift exchange)
Marvel/Captain America
Interstitial Light - After Thanos wiped half of life off the planet, the remaining Avengers find a way to reach out to those they lost, using a combination of Stark-Tech, magic and their own memories. Steve makes contact with Bucky, but they spent too many decades apart when Steve was on ice. But there was somebody else who knew Bucky during that time—who trained with him, who knew both the Winter Soldier and James Barnes: Natasha. | 6k, Natasha, Bucky
Stumble and Fall Into You   -   Three months ago, Steve’s world shattered. SHIELD had been infiltrated by Hydra, people he trusted turned out to be enemies, and Bucky, who he thought he’d lost in 1944, had been alive this whole time. Steve tries to get back to some kind of normalcy, but Bucky is always on his mind, and lately he’s been seeing him everywhere. | 5k, Steve/Bucky

The 17th fic I completed this year is my Sam Winchester Big Bang fic, which will be posting early next year. I’ve gotten paired with yet another wonderful artist (I think it’s still supposed to be a secret, but it won’t be for long) and am very excited about this collaboration too!
Might as well make this my end of year stats post as well while I’m at it.
Words so far: 247,305 as of end of November, I’ll probably come in close to 280k by end of year. About a third of these words were posted as fics, the rest were prior drafts and a handful of short stories.
Thematically this was a very cathartic and iddy year for me in fic. Venom fandom gave me the opportunity to tackle things in a totally different way which has been incredibly freeing and fun to write, and returning to Supernatural fic had me writing out ideas I’d had on the backburner for years, like with Wednesday and my aforementioned SWBB. Nearly every Sam Winchester fic I write is about autonomy (loss of or reclaiming of) in one way or another but I’d say the two iddiest ones by far from this year were His Soul to Keep and Last Drop.
I’ve got four WIPs heading into 2020, so here’s to another year of writing!

Two Way Street
Part One/ Part Two
Just as a quick note, thank you for so many positive responses to this story as well as my other ones. Seeing so many nice comments always makes my day brighter. <3
Request:  Hi sweetheart, can I request a #10 & #13 from Jason Todd prompt challenge? Sorry to bother u. I love ur blog (The prompts were Jason being Jealous of the reader and Dick and the reader being jealous of Jason and Kori)
Warnings: Language
It took forever for you to figure out what had happened during the fight. Neither of them would talk to you about it for the longest time. In fact, Jason pretty much stopped talking to you In general. If it wasn’t absolutely necessary to see or talk to you, he didn’t do it. How someone who lived in the same space as you found a way to disappear 90% of the time was beyond you. You weren’t sure what it was, but whatever they had been fighting about, was apparently weighing down on both of their attitudes.
After they’d come out of the room and Jason had left with Kori, Dick was gone just as quickly. Within the span of a few minutes, you and Roy were the only two left in the apartment and there was a huge feeling of tension left in their wake. Later on, you tried asking Jason what happened, but that was when he started distancing himself and sometimes completely ignoring you. Not only that, but in all the time it took for someone to finally tell you what happened, you were stuck watching the effects of the argument spread into your own life.
In retaliation to whatever Dick had said, Jason was now “dating” Kori. You weren’t sure if it was real or not, but in all honesty it still got to you either way. Jason was your friend-probably your closest-, but it hadn’t always been that way. There was a time not that long ago where you had even larger feelings for him. It was long overdue, but it still hit you like a truck out of nowhere. You could still remember the exact moment when you realized your own feelings. Jason hadn’t even done anything really besides taking you out to celebrate one of your first deep space missions. Out of nowhere, you caught yourself looking at his teasing smile after making a joke and realizing that the warm feeling in your heart extended far past friendship. By then you were already too deep into your feelings to curb them. Obviously, that didn’t work out in the way you wanted, as you ended up roommates of the most platonic kind. You thought you were over that and done feeling that way about him, but now you weren’t so sure.
It wasn’t that you disliked Koriand’r or anything. Despite everything, you still enjoyed her company and liked her as a person in general. What brought the sickness to your heart was seeing them together. Especially since Jason wouldn’t talk to you. It felt like you’d been severed and he put Kori in the place you could never be. It hurt way more than you would ever admit. Of course, you didn’t say anything. Instead, opting to appear as blissfully ignorant as possible while you drowned in your feelings. This went on for days before you finally tracked Dick down and forced him to tell you everything that happened.
Dick sat beside you on a bench in BludHaven. Everything had reached a boiling point in your mind, so you tracked him down and caught him while he was leaving his day job at the police department. Even though you were in civilian clothes, you made sure to let him know that if he tried to run you had your power ring within reach. Thanks to that, he finally gave in and told you what happened.
“He totally called me out,” Dick explained. “He said he knew I was only talking to you because I wanted to piss off Kori and that I needed to end it.”
“So did you tell him the truth?”
“No, I told him he was being ridiculous and that he needed to mind his own business.”
“Dick!” He flinched at your voice, lolling his head onto the back of the bench.
“I know! I should have just told him the truth then and been done with it,” he defended. “But I was caught off guard. He was coming at me out of nowhere and I got defensive and we fought about it. That’s when he tried to call my bluff and said that he’d go ask Kori out if I wasn’t faking it.”
“And that’s when both of you stormed out of the room.” Dick nodded, tilting his head to look at you. You gave him a serious look, shaking your head before speaking again.
“You know you’re going to have to come clean and dig all of us out this mess, right?”
“You mean we?” You blinked, expression unchanging as you stared at him.
“Um, no. I mean you. I’m not the one trying to make Kori jealous so I feel ‘appreciated’.” Dick rolled his eyes and sat up again, turning so that he was facing you more directly with one leg resting on the bench. He hadn’t had a chance to change out of his uniform yet, so it felt kind of strange sassing a police officer in the middle of a park. Still, you weren’t letting him drag you in any further.
“Maybe not, but you’re the one making Jason jealous, so you’re just as guilty as I am.”
“Bullshit If Jason’s jealous, it’s not because of me. This was all your big idea.” You scoffed, actually processing what he had said after you responded. “Besides, he won’t even talk to me. If anything he’s mad I’ve been talking to his brother behind his back and once again, that’s on you.”
“It was my idea, but you agreed to it!”
“Dick, you’re five seconds away from getting lantern launched across this park, secret identities be damned. This is your mess and you’re gonna be the one to fix it.”
“I don’t want to do it alone! They’re both going to be mad at me for it,” he whined, tilting his head and looking at you with hopeless eyes.
“That sounds like something I warned you about before you started this shit.”
“You warned me about Kori, not Jason. If I’d known he was this into you I would have asked someone else. You should have told me!” You scoffed again, kicking your foot idly in the dirt beneath you.
“Oh please, Jason’s not into me.”
“I beg to differ,” Dick responded, suddenly becoming more animated and dramatic. “He almost ripped my head off twice because he thinks I’m trying to get at you. Just because you don’t see it and he won’t admit it doesn’t mean it’s not true.” Deciding you’d heard enough, you stood suddenly.
“Okay, this conversation is over. You’re fixing this and we’re all going to be done with all this unnecessary drama.  Got it?”
“Fine, but this conversation isn’t over. Jason has a big fat crush on you and I’ll prove it to you if I have to!” You threw up your favorite finger over your shoulder as you walked out of the park. The last thing you wanted to be hearing was that Dick thought Jason was interested in you. That road led to nothing but disappointment. Hopefully Dick would just take your advice and talk it out with his brother. Of course, that would have been too easy.
“Why do you even care?!?! It’s not like I’m trying to steal your girlfriend!” You sat, head in your hands on the roof top of your apartment next to Kori as Jason and Dick went at it a few feet away. Why were you all on the roof? Because you were already one noise complaint away from getting kicked out of your building so you thought ahead and had everyone meet up there to discuss the situation. Thank god you had such wonderful forethought because now it had turned into a screaming match between the Wayne brothers.
At first you and Kori were trying to keep the peace and solve the problem, but somewhere along the line it turned into Dick goading Jason and the latter lashing out in response. You knew damn well he was trying to get Jason to admit he had feelings for you and at this point you didn’t care anymore. You’d even gone as far as to pull Kori aside and tell her the truth on your own while the others bickered. In response to your own confession, she also told you that she wasn’t really Jason either, which lifted what felt like eighty pounds of weight off of your chest. Whatever Dick was doing, wasn’t a part of the plan and you were just going to let him go off on his own until they tired each other out. Kori was at least was still paying attention to the argument and what they were saying while you dropped that shit ages ago.
“You and I both know why you’re really doing this and it’s disrespectful to both of them. Could you just act your age for once?!” Jason’s voice was almost a full on shout as he glared at Dick, who responded with just as much anger.
“Me? That’s rich coming from you. Why don’t you admit why you’re really mad and we’ll talk about this like adults.”
“You’re so fucking irritating. We’re not getting anywhere with this back and forth.”
“No! We aren’t!” You finally spoke up, raising your head from your hands. “Can you two just talk this out so we can all be done with it? This whole thing went further than it should have and now everyone’s angry and fighting over something stupid.”
“It’s not stupid. We’re fighting because Dick needs to stop dragging other people into his problems,” Jason responded, finally looking at you. It felt like it had been ages since he talked to you and of course it had to be when they were fighting.
“Okay, I understand that and I’ll talk with Y/N about it on my own. I don’t need my little brother butting into my relationships and telling me what to do.” Jason turned back to Dick again, shoving his hair out of his face as a gust of wind blew through the four of you. Despite the current situation, you felt your gaze linger on him for a bit longer than it probably should have. Even when he was in the middle of a huge argument, he still found a way to look breathtaking.
“I wouldn’t be butting in if you hadn’t decided to start dating one of my friends to make your ex jealous. You can’t just play around with people’s feelings like that!” You groaned, finally standing up and moving to stand between them.
“He wasn’t playing with my feelings, Jason. He came to me and told me from the beginning that he wanted my help to make Kori jealous. I should have said no, but I agreed to help him out, so that’s on me. I already apologized to her about it so there’s no need for everyone to keep screaming at each other. The only people who need to talking all this out are Dick and Kori.” Jason looked at you with a surprised expression and before he could get a word out, Dick was speaking again in a matter-of-fact tone.
“Exactly, and if you gave me the chance to explain myself before you started accusing me of being an asshole, I would have told you. I can’t believe you actually think I’d play around with Y/N’s feelings like that. I’m not that stupid.”
“Close, but not quite that dumb,” Kori said, joining the three of you finally.
“How was I supposed to know that?” Jason defended, still not completely over his own frustration.
“I don’t know, maybe if you asked me like a regular person instead of getting jealous and jumping down my throat the first chance you got!” And of course, Dick couldn’t have just dropped the subject now that everyone had calmed down. For a brief second you thought they just might be done fighting, but that would have been good luck.
“Oh here we go again,” you sighed, running a hand down the side of your face. Jason’s face flushed and he looked at Dick with wide eyes, glancing at you for a split second.
“I-I didn’t get jealous!”
“Oh please, Y/N said you’ve been stomping around in a hissy fit all week and you’ve been attacking me about it since you found out. You were pissed before you even knew we weren’t really dating.”
“That’s because I don’t want you fooling around with my friends!”
“This whole thing started because I was already in relationship drama with one of your friends, so that’s bullshit. You never cared that I was dating Kori; you only got defensive when it was Y/N.” Jason was about to produce another defensive response, but you cut him off.
“Why are you turning this on me now?! Can’t you two just fucking bro hug so I can go to sleep or something,” you interjected, glaring at Dick. You were getting sick of him trying to force the idea that Jason had a thing for you. You’d been living together and had been friends long enough that if he was going to make a move he would have done so already. Now Dick was just pushing him and the only thing that was going to come out of it would be Jason telling everyone why he saw you as a friend and nothing more. As much as you wanted to believe you were over it, that wasn’t true and you didn’t want to go through all of the grief and rejection again, especially now that you had to see him every day. He may have had the whole avoiding thing down, but you certainly didn’t.
“You can’t seriously be this blind. The only reason everything blew out of proportions was because Jason got so defensive over you. Anyone can see that he-“
“Listen, I’m glad we all aired this out, but I don’t feel like getting into this right now. Jason already said he wasn’t jealous, so just drop it.” You could feel their eyes on you after you suddenly cut off Dick’s statement and it only irritated your nerves further. “Fuck it, I’m so over this.” You yanked your power ring off of the chain around your neck and slipped it onto your finger. You were quick to suit up in a flash of green and walk away from the whole debacle, slipping into flight as you neared the edge of the roof.
Dick had been calling out to you before you left, but you ignored him. You flew high over Gotham and went as far away from the scene as you could. Despite how much you told yourself you were over everything, the feelings were cropping up all over again and you couldn’t stand staying there for another second. So instead you flew away and didn’t stop until you felt a hand on your ankle. Jerking your head around and coming to a stop, you were surprised to see that Kori had followed you into the night sky.
“What happened back there?” You huffed out a sigh at her question, relaxing into a less defensive position while Kori came to fly nearer to you.
“Nothing, I was just annoyed. He’s been talking about that shit for days now,” you responded, looking at the city below instead of meeting her eyes.
“It didn’t seem like that was it. You looked really upset when he brought it up.”
“I mean, yeah
” You paused, weighing whether you wanted to go into detail about the whole thing or not. This was something you’d never spoken a word about to anyone. There was a friendship between the two of you, but you weren’t sure if it was close enough to be sharing things like that. In all fairness, though, you already knew way too much of her business thanks to Dick. It seemed fair that she know some of yours in return.  “It’s just a sore subject for me. In the past, I really did like Jason as more than a friend and I guess I’m not as over it as I thought.  It was one thing to figure out that he didn’t feel the same on my own, but hearing him say it is another thing entirely. I don’t know why Dick is so hell bent on getting him to say something.”
“How can you be so sure that he doesn’t feel the same? Dick probably knows him better than most and he seems to think so.”
“Yeah, well his idea of romance is trying to make his girlfriend appreciate him by making her jealous so I don’t think he’s the best source of facts.”
“Okay maybe not,” she laughed. “But I spend a lot of time with him too. He’s different around you and the way he talks about you doesn’t feel entirely platonic to me. I think you should give him a chance to give you a final answer. If Dick was wrong, then at least you’ll know. That’s better than wondering, right?”
“That’s debatable.” Still, despite your apprehension, you knew she was right. It was a thought that had crossed your mind a few times, but one that you had refused to humor. Now that someone else was telling you, it really felt like the more logical response. “I’ll talk to him when I get back.”
“Good luck. I’ll make sure to talk to my boy wonder when I get back too. He needs it more than anyone.”
“Yeah, good luck to you too,” you laughed. “He’s a handful.”
When you and Kori got back to your apartment building, she and Dick left without much more discussion. Jason had already gone back inside, so you waved them off before beginning the dreaded descent down the stairs and to your apartment. The door was still unlocked, so at least you knew he wasn’t still acting like you didn’t exist. Still, your entire being was in a panic as you opened the front door. Starfire’s suggestion had propelled you into action, but now the actual nerves were setting in. The urge to just turn back around and run was almost enough to overwhelm your resolve. Almost, but not quite.
The kitchen and living room were empty so the next logical place for him to be was his room. The delay was only adding to your internal panic so much so that you had to pause outside his door to take a breath and shake out your clammy hands. After a that moment to regain some nerve, you pushed open his door and peeked into his room.
Jason was lying on his bed, previously looking at his phone before you’d come in. He was lying sideways so he had to tilt his head to look at you as you entered. He let the hand holding his phone sink down beside him and he shifted into an upright position.
“You okay?” You nodded, biting your lip as you walked all the way into your room. For some reason, your hand creaked his door closed behind you as if you needed some kind of privacy in an otherwise empty apartment. Once you realized what you’d done, you cringed a bit. Now you were trapped and so was he with the uncomfortable tension in the air.
“I
wanted to clear everything up,” you said finally, trailing off as you looked at him. Jason nodded, watching you come to sit beside him on the edge of his bed. You sat far enough away that you weren’t touching him, but close enough that you didn’t have to look directly at him. It was somewhat cowardly, but you had to do something to give your poor heart a break. Everything combined was pushing you towards cardiac arrest.
“Yeah, I’m sorry about earlier
and I guess for before that too. I’ve been pretty rude to you for the past few days and that wasn’t really warranted.”
“It’s alright,” you said, halfway thinking. Your mind was still on trying to get this confession out of your head, but you caught on to your own words. “I mean, it’s not alright because that was irritating as fuck to deal with every day, but I forgive you.” You heard him chuckle beside you and felt your own smile coming onto your face.
“And I forgive you for pretending to date my brother,” he retorted, causing you to groan, tilting your head to the side in mock anguish.
“Thanks for giving me a shortcut out of that apology.”
“You have to admit, it was a terrible idea,” Jason laughed.
“Yeah, I knew that. I just thought Dick would be the only one getting fucked over.”
“Oh so it was okay as long as it wasn’t you?”
“Exactly,” you both fell into the easy dynamic that you usually had. It was as natural as breathing sometimes and knowing this made you even more nervous to speak your mind. All of that could be ruined forever if you did. Pining after him in silence wasn’t a good option either, though.
“So, um. About what Dick said earlier...He kind of put us on the spot in front of everyone so I kind of panicked and ran,” you explained. Jason listened quietly, nodding his head and you could feel his gaze on you. With a quick glance, your eyes met his before you sighed and leaned back on your hands.
“That’s fair enough, if I could fly I’d have done the same thing.”
“Yeah, but it was different for me. I just
fuck this is hard to say.” You paused, looking up at Jason’s ceiling for a moment before regaining your nerve and finally looking into his eyes. “I left because what he was saying was too real for me. I didn’t want to hear you say you didn’t feel that way about me or that we’re just friends because I don’t want it to be true. I just
I really like you as more than a friend and I wasn’t ready to completely accept it was just me. But, I talked to Kori about it and realized that I need to deal with this instead of pushing it into the back of my mind, so here I am.”
Jason looked at you with a surprised expression, completely frozen. You sat in silence for a small moment before you found yourself rambling to fill the uncomfortable silence. “And, I’m not telling you this to pressure you into anything. You don’t have to say you feel the same or anything, I just wanted to let you know what was really going on, I guess.” You bit your lip, feeling the nervousness captivating you again as you looked away again.
“I-I should probably give you a minute to process all that, right. I’ll just
” Your voice trailed off and your mouth shut suddenly. Jason’s expression had softened and he was suddenly a lot closer to you than he had been a minute ago. You watched him, heart in a panic as the distance between the two of you closed.
“Can I speak now?” he whispered and you closed your eyes, mentally kicking yourself as you nodded. “Thanks.” He moved back into his own space, but held your eye contact.
“It wasn’t as different for you as you think. I freaked out and panicked when Dick brought it up like that too. The first thing I thought to do was deny what he was saying even though that wasn’t necessarily true.” His hand ghosted over yours and you responded by turning it over to him. He slipped his hand into your, smiling lightly at your response before his eyes returned to yours. “When I heard you and Dick were talking, I was pissed. I didn’t realize it until he brought it up that night we fought for the first time, but I really was jealous. I knew I felt different about you, but I wasn’t really sure what it was until now. I honestly felt awful not talking to you, but I didn’t know what else to do.”
His words were like sunshine breaking through the clouds after a week of rain. After feeling so stressed out and worried, you felt a lightness overtake your entire being. If you hadn’t had your ring dangling against your chest, you might have thought you were flying. A smile crept along your face at Jason’s confession and you couldn’t help your sigh of relief. A thought crossed your mind and you laughed lightly before speaking.
“So, long story short, we’re both complete idiots about this relationship stuff
” Jason laughed and nodded, using your hand to pull you into an embrace. He wrapped the hand entwined with yours around your shoulder, crossing your own arm over your chest. Your free hand pressed against his side and your head rested perfectly against his chest.
“Basically,” was all he said. You paused; savoring the moment before you finally said something else.
“And we’re definitely not admitting that Dick was right?”
“Not in this lifetime.”

Prompt:
Sticks stared long and hard at Sonic and Amy

Tails was busy with buying some half-off spare parts for different ‘mini-projects’ he had been working on before examining two of them and paying her no mind.
“
.Hey, Tails
” She squatted, keeping her arms down in front of her as she continually watched the two interact.
In the distance, Sonic was helping Amy shop, or rather
he was to ‘comment’ on each thing she tried on or pointed too.
She couldn’t help but notice how
 ‘giggly’
the two were around one another
.
“I think something’s off with Sonic and Amy. Steve isn’t this good at mocking a laugh.” She narrowed her eyes more, ducking her head like an animal stalking it’s prey from a few feet away. “And
I’m pretty sure he can’t clone himself either
”
She folded her arms and shot herself upright, startling Tails out of his ‘happy place’ as he turned to her, half annoyed.
“At least you’re not raving about something paranormal
” he sweat-dropped, before turning to also stare at Sonic and Amy.
Sonic leaned over a counter, and pointed to something for a change, which drew Amy’s immediate attention as she seemed to excitedly hold it up and over him, as if seeing if the clothing worked with him or not.
He proudly put his hands to his hips, before she shook her head and put it back, pulling out something else and making him look disappointed and annoyed.
“Seems about right.” Tails nodded, and turned with a kind smile to Sticks, though skeptical of her perception skills. “Amy’s still pulling Sonic around the market, and he’s still not any help when it comes to her decisions.”
“Not that.” she took a hand to his chin, pulling him to look harder at the two. “THEIR FACES!”
“H-huh?” Tails was even more uncomfortable now, before actually
 seeing what she meant.
The typical act of the duo suddenly subsided as Sonic spun off and came back with something actually decent, and Amy held the article up to herself and smiled, before excitedly lifting a leg slightly up and moving some of her hair.
“
.Amy
?” Tails raised an eyebrow, and Sticks let go of his chin, seeing he had finally caught on.
“It’s not just her- Sonic’s got the loonies too!” She pointed back, as Tails put down his gears and other robotic pieces to place a hand over to his forehead and shield the blazing sun from his eyes.
Having clearer vision, he suddenly stepped back in shock when he saw Sonic actually acting as if he was ENJOYING helping Amy out!
“Woah! That IS weird!” Tails worried, “We have to warn them!”
“But who’s the impostor, and whose our friend?”
Tails had to stop a second and think that one through, realizing he couldn’t just run up and say that Steve- or Morpho- was one of them.
He put a hand to his chin. “W-well
just cause they’re acting nice to each other and not arguing doesn’t exactly mean-”
Suddenly, as if on cue, Knuckles approached the scene.
“Hey, have you guys been watching Comedy Chimp lately? Haha! His new episode had Amy dating Sonic! Hahaha! As if!” he fanned out a hand, “Everyone knows she’s too in love with adventure and kicking butt to think about that!”
As he billowed a laugh, Sticks and Tails shared a confused expression, before Sticks looked back with hand-binoculars.
“Uh oh.”
“Wh-what now?” Tails put his hands up to his chattering teeth, as if biting his nails in suspense.
“If they’re actually falling in love for real this time
T-that means they’re going to ditch us for each other! And it’s worse cause we’re friends with BOTH of them! that’s like
losing two friends in one catastrophe!”
Tails panicked, seeing Sonic ditching him for Amy, or vise-versa, and having delusions of lonely scenarios play through his mind of them having fun without him.
He huddled down a moment, whimpering at being left behind

“Pull yourself together,
wait! Cower in terror! She just hugged him!”
“That’s nothing new. Phew.” Tails wiped his forehead, getting up as Knuckles looked concerned, still not sure what was being discussed fully.
“-and he returned it!”
“-WHAT!?!?” Tails bumped his head against the roof of the shelter.
“That’s it!” He flew up away from the two.
“W-where are you going?” Knuckles inquired, scratching his head. “I thought we were still narrating Sonic and Amy’s every move.”
“I’m going to find Eggman! If anyone knows where Steve is, it’s him!” he flew off, “Keep me in tabs!”
“Roger that.” Sticks saluted, suddenly moving two fingers over her cheeks and having war-paint on.
She slowly slipped down and then reappeared up on top of the adjacent marketer’s roof.
“Knuckles!” she whispered, and then started making code-signals with her hands.
“
Uhh
” he looked confused, before shrugging. “The governments found their lost puppies and my lamp has fallen and can’t get up? OH NO! Lampy!” he suddenly darted off, “Don’t go towards the light! Even if you’re made of it! Ah-haha!!!” he cried in shrieks as he raced off in a frenzy, while Sticks just face-palmed herself and continued to watch.
Tails was heading to Eggman’s place, destroying the ‘guard robots’ on the way while Sticks continued to play secret agent.
“Fox tails, we’ve got an update. Over.” Sticks spoke into a walkie-talkie, fully in her army get up.
“Roger that! What’s the status? Over.” Tails pulled out his communicator on his wrist, and waited a moment as he hid from more guard robots behind a large rock formation.
“They’re still giggling
” she drooped her eyes in annoyance, watching Sonic and Amy sitting and eating Meh Burger, before Amy seemed to get a little shy with Sonic and they both looked away from each other. “It’s growing worse
awkward tension is building and I’m sensing a detonation in three.. two
 -”
Amy suddenly suggested that Sonic sit on her side, and although he hesitated a second, he scratched behind his head and came closer, scooting up to sit beside her on her side as the two continued to laugh again.
Sticks spoke rapidly into the walkie-talkie.
“I REPEAT. PERSONAL SPACES HAVE BEEN BREACHED! They’re
 ugh
I dare not say. Sitting right next to each other!”
“Oh no! If Sonic’s Steve, then Amy will be heartbroken if she finds out he’s been playing her! Or yet, it could be Amy who’s Steve. In which case, Sonic’s not gonna hear the end of it from me
” he snickered at the last bit, before he suddenly shivered a moment, “Also, that would mean Steve has a weird fetish with cosplay
”
“No time to contemplate that now!” Sticks watched as the two got up, and Sonic offered her his arm. “They’re continuing to cross barriers! You’ve gotta do something!” she called into the walkie-talkie, speaking urgently, and pulling it straight up to her mouth. “LIVES ARE AT STAKE!” she rolled to hide in a bush, where Dave walked up with some trash, looked around, and dumped it in it.
He whistled, rocking on his heels and turning his back to it, before tossing the empty garbage bag, dusting off his hands, and walking back to ‘work’.
“Ohh~ Free stuff!” Sticks could be heard, her tone sounding genuinely excited.
Tails worried once again, sweating as he dashed into the fray without a second thought, taking out robots before rolling into the slow-dropping entrance door to Eggman’s lair.
He pulled a ‘Indiana Jones’ as he reached back for his lucky wrench before the door closed.
Eggman was laughing with Morpho, who was in turn, playing Fuzzy-Puppy buddies with him.
“I never knew a game with like- so much simplistic and adorable feel could be like- my true passion in life, man.”
“Right!? Not only does it get the blood boiling in rage at seeing your own cute, little fuzzy buddy getting destroyed! But you also get the undying bragging rights over a sensational assault on someone ELSE’S cute, little fuzzy buddy!” he truly seemed evil with every word

The two laughed as Tails rolled in, looking serious and worn for wear, before seeing Steve and suddenly looked shocked.
“Steve!?”
“Ugh, like, Morpho
it’s like.. retro, but not too nostalgic with no real-time feel man.” Steve shook his head, gesturing his hand with his description as Eggman seemed to nod with his logic.
“Yeah, yeah
although, Steve is a classic.” He shrugged.
“For who, man?” Steve looked insulted. “I’ve only been here for like- 22 minutes! And those were different days!”
“I think that just shows how memorable Steve is.” Eggman squinted his eyes and leaned forward just a bit, but with his glasses on, it only looked like his eyebrows narrowed down a bit on his glasses.
“T-then
whose playing Amy or Sonic? Which one’s the phony!?” Tails put his hands to his head, as Eggman lifted a knowing hand up.
“Don’t you know?”
“K-know what? As if you know anything!” Tails accused, before looking away.
“Ohhh~ Look at the hotshot. Thinking he’s already lost his best friend to love. Can’t even picture that the two of them already worried about that and so formed a secret truce of silence to date behind everyone’s back, huh?”
“W-wa-wa-wait, what?” Tails shook his head rapidly.
“Tails! We’re done for! All is lost!” Sticks’s voice suddenly came on, as Tails looked down to his wrist.
“They’ve
 they’ve
 uhhhh
 the unthinkable.”
“Brah
 you don’t think
”
Suddenly, Steve and Eggman both got out of their chairs, growing curious about the transmission.
“N-no
 they wouldn’t have
 they couldn’t have have!
 could they?”
“Have had have????” Steve’s face spoke a thousand words.
Eggman withdrew his hand to his mouth, biting his nails.
Steve looked excited as suddenly they all in unison said-
“KISSED?” - “MARRIED?!” - “NOSE NUZZL-
.oh.”
The three all looked at one another.
“Oh, Steve.”
“MORPHO, DUDE. And who just kisses a girl he first married?”
“No!” Tails shook his head, “STICKS!”
“Worse!”
They all held their breaths.
A dark, underlying groan was suddenly heard.
“Cuddled
”
Dramatic shots of each of Tails, Eggman, and Steve-o’s faces were shown in pure shock, terror, or loss of hope. One showing Eggman on his knees, looking up from the darkness into light as Tails pulled the sides of his face in anguish and Steve took the pose of The Thinker.
The cast all met later as Amy and Sonic sat on a couch
looking to each other before sighing and looking at their friends- and Eggman- all gathered together in Sonic’s hut.
“We think we owe everyone an explanation.”
Sticks’s had two patches over her eyes. “You’re telling me.” she ripped them off, before banging her foot on the floor from the agony of striping them off.
“Uhh
brahs? I know this is like- a family matter or whatever? But can I come in too?”
“We’d also like permission to-” Orbot tried to lift himself up to the window as Steve pulled some of the blinds away.
“I mean, I- the mighty Morpho, feel like after 22 minutes I’ve really become like- part of the shindig and-”
Knuckles was given the nod to walk over and close the blinds even further down.
“We all know you’ve had a lot of questions lately
” she put a hand to Sonic’s, who seemed nervous as the team all waited for his response.
“Sonic..?” Amy leaned her head down towards him, as he nervously fidgeted.
“W-well.. um
 uhhhh
yeah.” he looked away, before finally swallowing his pride and looking back at Amy’s hand.
He
 hesitated
but put his own on top of hers.
Gawking in amazement, the four all had different reactions. Eggman was having a fiesta behind the couch while Sticks went wild with ‘I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!’ and Tails looked a bit hopeless while Knuckles looked confused at everyone’s reactions.
“What are we all reacting too?” He suddenly grabbed a pot and smashed it against his head. “Haha, I don’t care. Any excuse to act wild and crazy is okay by me! Wooo!!” He crashed and broke the couch. “Furniture wrestle!” He tapped out the couch.
“Tails
” Sonic looked down at his buddy and moved away from Amy, kneeling by his side.
“
But this means
you’ll ditch us all.” Tails turned his head away. “I thought we were bros for life
”
“And you’ll always be my bro, Tails.” Sonic tenderly, with some sensitivity, held a hand to Tails’s shoulder, before turning to the others acting crazy too.
Amy was talking to Sticks as the couch seemed to have somehow pinned Knuckles down, Eggman calling a fowl and then tweeting things online about Sonic and Amy.
“I
 was
 so
 right
AlphaShadamy4550! HMph! SEND.” he snickered evilly. “Now to crush the other hopeless saps dreams!” he clenched his fist up before Amy took the phone, dropped it daintily, and smashed it with her hammer.
“Just because Amy’s my girrr
 my girrrrrllllffff
.FFFFFFF
.Ah, you know. Doesn’t mean we won’t hang out with you guys!”
“Yeah! I can’t stand Sonic 24/7 anyway.” Amy rolled her eyes, as Eggman picked up the pieces of his phone and then ordered-
“ROBOTS-!!!!”
And the old, daily routine was back on again, as if nothing changed.
Sonic hung out with Tails, finishing up the last of the robots, as Tails took the X-Tornado and him for a spin.
“So
what made you suddenly change your mind?” Tails smiled up to Sonic, reassured that his friend wasn’t going anywhere.
Sonic, arms folded, shrugged and then looked off into the distance on his side of the plane.
“
I don’t know
she kinda just said we were, I guess.” He scratched the side of his head.
“W-wa-wait, you never actually asked her out?”
“No. Come to think of it. She never really asked me out. We just
 started
how would you call it?” he looked deep in thought.
“BREACHING
BARRIERS
!!!”
The two looked down.
Sticks was holding a megaphone and a device to hear voices miles away on her forehead, a dish-like receiver, and a Meh-burger’s trash cup on her ear.
“Eh, I put treasure to good use.” she winked to the camera.
Author’s notes:
This was fun. I wanted to be creative at 5 in the morning and this is what you get xD Tails worried about being abandoned, Sticks’s end triumphant (it’s a must, honestly) and Knuckles not realizing he’s always wrong or out of the loop. Eggman and Steve were fun to write! I just enjoyed showing the drama of increasing terror from Sticks and Tails, the ones truly seeing what’s what, but not what’s what. haha. I don’t know, but I think I like this one :)
