#also for spamming random kid superhero content
Text
Just watched We Can Be Heroes, and it really got me thinking about how blessed we were to have the plethora of kind of random off-brand kid superhero content we got growing up, like Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Sky High, The incredibles etc. I like how the desire to know more about these characters, and subsequent lack of fulfillment of said desire, really primed us to appreciate the hell out of all that the Marvel and DC cinematic/tv universes are giving us as adults AND apart from that, just how good they were as standalone movies. I say this with my rose colored nostalgia glasses on of course, they’re not all cinematic masterpieces or anything, but they all had heart, y’know. And even though We Can Be Heroes only gave us kernels of Sharkboy and Lavagirl lore, I took comfort in knowing the movie really wasn’t for all of us who were like 7 when the first movie came out, but for the kids of today. Overall it’s just nice knowing that the age of bizarre kid superheroes being a gateway drug into this beautiful nerdy mess isn’t over, and I thoroughly enjoyed this wholesome superhero movie.
