Waiting for the Worms - Hey You
Part 15
I had planned to be so much further in the plot by this chapter and yet here we are. I don't want to say this is a filler chapter, because the reunion of the team and all is important but like, nothing exciting happens here. Very tame. Don't expect anything crazy. That's next chapter.
Special thanks to @cassiopeiathequeen for reading this over for me when I second guessed if I should even post this one or not.

~---~
It took a moment for anyone to move, all still looking back and forth between Jason and her, as though unsure how to proceed.
While they took their sweet time figuring it out, Damian glanced at Jason, then back to her, "I see what you meant now. This will take time to adjust to."
"Oh?" She inquired, a quirk to her eyebrow.
"I keep looking to him, but that isn't correct, is it? It's annoying to think I might accidentally treat him as I treat you just because his flesh prison is the one I am accustomed to."
"Would that be so terrible?" She offered, face barely hinting at amusement.
"Yes."
Chuckling, she drew him closer into her lap where he allowed himself to huddle close, turning to watch the masses once more.
Jason, a state of content shock, kept their hands tightly bound, watching the two before him interact with such ease. Meanwhile the others only just now found the nerve to move fully into the living room, very aware of the two sets of eyes observing them. One pair, they thought they were used to, had seen almost everyday for years, but the glow to them was different. Electric green seemed to spark through the vivid blue, dangerous and wild.
Kagami never felt fear as a civilian, especially after having been a superhero for so long. Had never felt threatened or like an easy target, but those eyes on her suddenly made her feel like prey in the sights of a killer. The dark green eyes set below only added to this.
Juleka couldn't explain how on edge the little boy put her. His hardened eyes never strayed from their little group, harsh and judging. No child should be so intimidating or coiled so tight, as though to pounce. The protective arms wrapped around him seemed less for their safety, but rather hinted at more than one opponent should things go downhill.
Marc suddenly had a new idea for a story about a lone wolf and her wolf cub, living in the wilderness, avoiding conflict but capable of taking down even the mightiest of warriors. They could wager a guess where that idea came from as they stood behind the armchair Kagami placed herself in, Chloe sitting on the arm of it, Juleka sitting on the carpet between her feet.
As for Chloe, she simply stared at who she could only assume was Jason. That tall, ridiculously muscled man, with his white streak and swimming teal eyes was who they had fought alongside so long? How in the hell did he pull off a tiny little teenage girl for so long? How old was this guy even to have such a scarred, built body? What had Mari been through in her time as him? She couldn't help it, she needed to know.
"Jason, how old are you?"
He startled in his seat, turning to look at her, "uh, well I was a year older than her, so eighteen, I guess."
"Seventeen and a half," Marinette corrected.
"But he said-"
"You don't continue aging in a dead body."
She answered so matter of fact, so flippantly, they fell silent once more. Kagami was the first to regain her bearings.
"Must you be so blunt about it?"
Those eyes swung to focus in on her, sharp with challenge, "Why not?"
Chloe rose to it first, "Because it hurts okay? Your acting like it means nothing, but it does. It hurts-!"
"Like a crowbar to the face?" She cut in, a dark little smile twisting her face as the green seemed to flash in her eyes.
Damian snickered at the playful jab, adding on, "Such cutting words, Mari, how do they compare to the autopsy?
"Like a gentle caress, little one," her grin becoming more wicked as she nuzzled the top of his head. Right then the hand she forgot was gripping her own became nearly crushing as it shook.
"Fucking hell, Mari," his voice rattled out and as her head jerked in his direction, she saw his crumpled expression break into a broken laugh. He ran his free hand through his hair, "I only found out you were alive an hour ago, could we maybe hold off on the morbid humor?"
"Hey, that means I was alive two and a half more years than you thought though," she attempted to comfort him.
"Yeah? And how were those two years spent?" He snarked back, though she could hear the desperation in his voice, begging to know why she hadn't come back sooner. Hadn't looked for him.
"Curbing my bloodlust," she easily replied, not outwardly reacting, eyes searching his for understanding. The flash of green in his own answered.
He shook his head and nudged Damian, the boy instinctively moving at the nudge from a familiar hand and looking pissed upon realizing his mistake as he dropped onto the other end of the couch behind where Mari had ended up. Jason heeded him no mind as he pulled Marinette closer until she moved herself into his lap, letting herself marvel at how small she now was.
"Excuse me? Do we just not exist over here?" Chloe snapped into their little bubble.
"I wish," Damian muttered.
"Watch it brat."
"Chloe," Marinette growled out the warning.
The blonde teared up, "Mari, we're friends. You remember right?"
Sighing, she clamped down on the anger, "Of course I remember. Please try to refrain from calling him names though," swiveling towards Damian, who had started smirking, she snapped him out of it, "And Damian, learn tolerance. More people will be entering our lives now and we'll have to navigate around those the other chooses to associate with." He hunched in on himself at her reprimand.
"She lashed out at you. Her feelings about your death are not your fault."
"They aren't, but I also have zero tact about the topic of my demise. Maybe I cannot be blamed for her feelings over my dying, but I could control how hurtful my words are. Then she wouldn't have felt the need to lash out, just as you wouldn't. I won't become more tactful and I'll understand if she doesn't wish to talk to me because of it, but I could have," she turned back to Chloe with that, noticing the contemplative look to some, sadness to others. Jason simply looked like he understood and sympathized.
"So how exactly did this group come to be?"
"It took less than two months for Jason to fire Chat," Juleka spoke up, gripping Kagami's calf from her spot on the floor, purposefully drawing attention to the person she held, " choose her as the new black cat."
"Fair enough, and the rest are holders as well, I presume?"
At this moment, kwamis began to reveal themselves, Longg peeking out of Chloe's bag, Trixx popping out of Marc's hoodie, Mullo showing off their spot amongst Juleka's hair. Tikki eventually floated out of Kagami's blazer, looking at her with forlorn, yet hopeful eyes.
Feeling a purr start up against her neck, she twisted to look up at Jason.
"You two switched?"
"We switch often," Kagami spoke here, cradling Tikki who sat her palm holding back tears at the lack of reaction given, "good for confusing the enemy. They never knew which of us it was until the fighting style gave it away."
"It also became necessary due to my not being a very good fit for Tikki despite my body being the proper match," Jason cut in here.
"Juleka and I switch often as well. Fits us better that way."
"I stay the same, but I have three different forms, so I suppose it's fair," Chloe added.
"And Hawkmoth?"
"Gone. We ended it about a year or so ago," Jason reassured.
Only then did a tiny, happy smile slip onto her face, lightening the atmosphere and allowing everyone in the room to relax.
"Tikki? I've missed you sweetie bug," Mari cooed, the little goddess perking up and launching herself forward into the other side of her neck to cuddle close.
"Mari? I'm so happy you're alive! I missed you so much, you don't even know!" Tikki sniffled then immediately begin to scold her, "don't you ever pull a stunt like that on me again, do you hear? I can't lose you again."
"I know, I'm sorry. I cannot promise that."
"What does that mean?!"
"I might not have known I would die in that moment, but I would do so again," she looked over to Jason now, "I would take that hit again without hesitation. And I'm sure my life being threatened isn't going to suddenly stop. I will however do everything within my abilities to prevent another unnecessary death."
The kwami gave a little huffy sniffle and ducked back into her neck once more, as Kagami gave a cough. "Don't worry, I have no intention of taking back your miraculous. You fit Tikki quite nicely from what I can tell."
"You.. Don't want me back?" Tikki spoke up.
"It's not that I wouldn't like to have you back by my side, but tell me truthfully Tik. Looking into my soul, could you see me being able to use your miraculous?"
The kwami deflated once more at that, knowing her to be right. At that moment, she felt a small hand softly tap her back before reaching up by her neck and slowly cupping the sleepy cat resting there. Sitting perfectly still until Plagg had been completely extracted, she turned to watch Damian slowly pet the God, the surprisingly docile kwami watching the boy out of the slits of his eyes.
"What is he?" Damian looked to her, wide eyed and curious.
Chloe spoke up, trying to amend the static from earlier, "He's a kwami. They're like pocket sized Gods, bonded to pieces of jewelry. The person who wears that jewelry is granted the ability to use the corresponding kwami's power. His name is Plagg and he's the kwami of Destruction."
Damian nodded along, eyes filled with wonder as the others took turns introducing the other kwamis in the room, Tikki joining them as Plagg floated back over to Mari. For her part, Mari relaxed further as the others became purposefully distracted so as not to overwhelm each other any further, while also keeping Damian occupied.
Turning to greet Plagg, she offered a considering look, "You were on my person in the cafe."
He nodded.
"You adjusted my aim during the attack."
"You were going to kill them," he tensed up, tone defensive.
"I know."
"Marinette-"
"I'm glad you stopped me. They were not lives that needed taken."
"You've changed so much," the cat kwami sounded remorseful and desolate, taking her in, soul and all.
"I have. You still love me though?"
"Course I do, sweetheart," the big green eyes teared up, never good at hiding his real feelings around her, especially now that he could see his own destruction magic in her soul and consuming Jason's body.
Taking a deep breath, she spoke out to the room, informing them that she'd be in the kitchen, making lunch. They all nodded in agreement, knowing they all needed the space to figure out their thoughts.
Jason followed her, "Mind if I join you?"
Turning around, knowing they no longer had an audience, she let her tears fall freely, speaking softly to not alert the others "Jay? This is real isn't it? You're really here?"
Holding her by the shoulders, he leaned down to meet her eyes, "shouldn't I be the one asking that?" He teased, smiling at her small laugh, "This is some surreal shit, isn't it?"
"Yeah," she choked out, rubbing her eye as she pushed forward and pressed her face to his chest, wrapping herself around him, feeling his arms hover a moment before pulling her in tight.
"You're being strong for him, aren't you?"
Grabbing his hand, she led him into the bedroom, closing the door softly, "He doesn't have anyone else, Jay. I'm sure he told you about the league?"
"Yeah, something like that."
"Didn't happen to mention what he was doing there, did he?
"He slipped a bit, but I'd rather hear it from you."
"Talia is his mother. She took me in so I could get him out. Trained me to be the perfect protector, gave me the means to leave, disconnected from him completely so he wouldn't argue. And of course I agreed. He was being abused, Jay. It was so terrible, the way they were raising him. But I don't know what I'm doing."
"I don't know, you seemed to be doing a pretty amazing job out there," he brushed tears off her face, still amazed that he could, "How do you want to handle this? With me having taken my body back. I'll follow your lead here."
"About that… You and I have joint custody."
"What?"
"Legally, you're his older brother, who adopted him after your parents died, since you were of age to do so. Marinette Todd is your wife who adopted him with you."
"Wh-why would you- I mean-?" He cut himself off, confused.
"Well I mean, I didn't think the connection would ever come back, but in case it did or if I felt it safe to find you. I didn't want to take a chance. We can go back and change them?"
"It's fine, just, how old did you make us to be married and able to adopt a child?"
"Well he's your brother, so the adoption part would be easy despite age, plus we forged documentation for cps check-ins for two years, so they won't be checking now."
"And how old does that make us?"
"You're twenty one and I'm twenty. We've been his legal parents since you turned nineteen. We married the year after I graduated high school. You looked old enough to pull it off and I wasn't sure what I looked like anymore but doubted anyone would look twice."
"Well alright then," he blinked, pulling her close again and setting his head on top of hers, "It's going to take a while to get used to being this tall," he admitted.
"How do you think I feel," she rested fully against him, blown away by the ability to lean on someone for once.
A knock sounded on the door and Damian peaked in, "Mari? You need to come see this."

Expected Better
Based on This Post by @nerdasaurus1200
Expected better
Marinette just wanted to lie down and rest, was that too much to ask. Apparently, it was, since Kagami was frantically knocking on the door.
“I swear to god, if she wants me to look at those bloody cat pictures again, I’m going to rip her head off.” Grumbled Marinette, getting to her feet and stomping over to the door, “Okay, Kagami, this better be good.”
“The boys are in trouble.” Said Kagami, Marinette peered behind her and spotted Juleka and Alya.
Marinette sagged and looked at the Japanese woman, “Is it Kim or Adrien responsible for this mess?”
“Luka.” Came the tense reply, making Marinette straighten up.
“What?” Came the equally tense response.
EB
Viperion tried not to flinch as Chat Noir was thrown against the wall. The new Hawkmoth sauntered her way over.
“You know this will only stop if you tell me where the other Miraculous are.” Said Hawkmoth, her hair tucked up in what looked like sausages.
“Even if I knew,” Panted Chat, “You’d be the last one on the list.”
Hawkmoth frowned, before deciding to run her hands over Chat, “Well, I guess I’ll have to find other ways of making you talk.”
“Let. Him. Go.” Came a stern command above them. Everyone looked up and spotted Ladybug, along with Ryuuko, Rena Rouge and Tigress. Hawkmoth only smirked at the sight of the Heroine.
Chat grunted as he was casually thrown aside, Ladybug jumped down and circled around Hawkmoth, allowing Rena, Tigress and Ryuuko to get the rest of the captured group, King Monkey and Pegasus immediately set about helping, while Silene’s head rolled around in her unconscious state and Queen Bee struggled to breathe through a broken nose.
The odd sound of Ladybug and Hawkmoth coming to blows filled the background, until there was a quiet gasp for air, as Ladybug made Hawkmoth stab herself with her own weapon. Hawkmoth immediately started to run, with Viperion ready to take off after her, only for Ladybug to grab a hold of his shoulder.
“Back to base.” Growled the normally happy woman, “Now.”
The looks he got from Rena and Tigress weren’t good, especially when Ryuuko joined them and looked like she was ready to full on snarl at him.
“Sorry, M’Lady,” Muttered Chat, “We underestimated them.”
“We’ll talk later.” Whispered Ladybug, her gaze falling on Viperion, her expression darkening, “I, evidently, have a lot to talk about.”
Viperion tried not to show how scared he was.
EB
When they arrived at the Mansion, Nino and Ivan were the first to greet them, Nino taking the injured to ones to get patched up.
“Luka, if you and Kagami can meet me in the study.” Came Marinette’s voice, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Kagami marched up the stairs and towards study, as Sabrina was vacating it for Marinette.
Luka and Kagami entered to find Marinette looking out the window, the feeling of cold seething rage rolling off her in waves.
Marinette quietly exhaled, “You know, when Kagami told me that you lot were in trouble, I expected Kim or Adrien to be the mastermind of this mess.”
Luka flinched, “I thought-”
“You thought? YOU THOUGHT?! Luka, we very nearly lost six Miraculouses as well as six of our team mates nearly losing their lives!” Snapped Marinette, whirling around and stalking up to him, “Do you know what damage that could’ve done? How we would’ve had to explain to the public how six of our team mates decided to go galivanting off to seek glory in taking down Hawkmoth, who we all know to be a psychotic individual, who takes their pleasure in killing innocent people?!”
“We had a chance to take Hawkmoth out,” Luka snapped at her, “We had a chance to grab her and bring her to justice, but you were too much of a coward to even try.”
Marinette was silent, before she looked at him, “Obviously, you didn’t listen to what I said, Hawkmoth is a psychopath who takes pleasure in killing. The fact you knew this and still put your teammates lives into an unnecessary risk speaks volumes.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Demanded Luka, affronted.
“It means Timber Wolf and Basilisk’s deaths didn’t sink in deep enough for you to realise that this isn’t some game where you can go back to the last time you saved every time something you don’t like happens, take the time Kagami had to use the snake.” Said Marinette, before sighing, “It means that the snake Miraculous is too much of a liability at this point and I’m considering putting back in the box.”
“What?!” Gasped Luka, “But it saved so many people.”
“Tell me, did you have a ‘save point’ before you engaged Hawkmoth?” Questioned Marinette, “Because it seemed like you didn’t, and I’ve already seen enough of my teammates dying in front of me to know what is an asset and what is a liability. I’ve seen enough deaths, I don’t wish to see a death that cannot be reversed.”
Luka was quiet.
“Do you know what Bunnyx showed me, when she arrived from the future?” Marinette asked, her voice starting to waiver, “She showed me everyone dying, each a different way and you don’t know how close that came to being a reality.”
Luka could only look down at his feet.
“I can’t say how disappointed I am, I honestly expected better, especially from you.” Marinette stalked out of the room.
“Wow, she went easy on you.” Remarked Kagami, her arms folded, “Then again, no one died in this mess.”
“I think I’m on probation now.” whimpered Luka, his throat tight.
“I think that would be a given,” Said Kagami, “You remember how Gabriel was caught?”
“Because Marinette was captured and tortured for a month and a half.” Came Luka’s quiet response.
“You also know how a grand total of three people know what happened during that month and a half,” Said Kagami, turning to leave, “and believe me, it’s the stuff of nightmares, if Adrien isn’t being dramatic.”
Luka flinched slightly as the door closed. Marinette had returned a changed person, her original hesitance to harm people gone, more inclined to solve problems with violence, it had taken her little over a year to get back into her previous mindset, and even then, there were times where she would actively seek out a fight.
Marinette said she’d been broken, but she never told anyone how.
EB
Marinette sighed and lied back down on her bed, Adrien quietly lying next to her.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Adrien asked, quietly.
“Not really.” Came Marinette’s response, as she rolled over and tucked herself into his shoulder.
Adrien said nothing as Marinette started to cling on to him and started to shake. Both were vaguely aware of Kagami entering the room.
“I’ve given Luka few things to think about,” Said Kagami, her voice soft, “I don’t think he’ll be joining us tonight.”
Adrien and Marinette were quiet.
“I think putting the Snake Miraculous away for the time being is a good thing, the whole second chance thing has impaired his judgement.” Continued Kagami, “When I left, Juleka was waiting outside the door.”
“I feel sorry for him already.” Muttered Adrien, as Marinette’s trembles died down, “I hope that side lining him won’t shoot us in the foot.”
“I think we all have that hope,” Said Kagami, sliding down, “now, get some sleep, Marinette isn’t going to be in a good mood in the morning.”
“I think I’m glad that it’s not aimed at me.” Said Adrien.
EB
The whole team was gathered in the lobby, tension thick in the air as Marinette stalked around. Max, Kim, Marc, Chloe, Adrien and Luka all shifted guiltily.
“It still escapes my understanding,” Said Marinette, her hand pinching the bridge if her nose, “How six of our number, two of which being Senior members, made the rookie mistake of getting caught by shouting.”
“Adrien turned up to try and stop us.” Said Marc, making Marinette zero in on him, “Originally it was Kim, Chloe, Luka and I going, Max joined when he heard, and Adrien tracked us to the location.”
Marinette sighed and looked at Adrien, “I think your assistance is required elsewhere at the moment.”
Adrien shakily nodded, knowing the informal dismissal. While he had been let off the hook, he knew Marinette wasn’t happy she wasn’t informed about the situation.
“I can understand some of your motives, Max, you went to try and reign them in, correct?” Questioned Marinette, making Max nod, “Chloe, the answer is plain and simple, you went for revenge.”
The paraplegic looked down at her lap.
“Kim, I’m assuming that you went on a dare, despite the fact you were supposed to be patrolling with Marc, who you decided to bring along for the ride.” Said Marinette, her voice hard, her gaze then settled on Luka, “The only trouble I’m having is why, in the name of all things bright and beautiful, you thought going after AN ACTUAL PSYCHOPATH WAS A GOOD IDEA?!”
Everyone jumped as Marinette shouted, not many people were used to her shouting, as she was generally soft spoken. Marinette took a deep breath, “Luka, I placed you in a position of explicit trust that wasn’t something to take lightly and these past few months you’ve not only managed to change your attitude, but also the public perception of you.”
“What?” Asked Luka, his shoulder slumping.
“I believe you’re aware of the, Mr. Pigeon incident?” Asked Marinette, getting a few green faces, “The public have been referring to your attitude, namely your ‘new way of dealing with Akuma’s’.”
“I don’t see the problem.” Luka muttered.
“You threw a six-year-old off a building, just to distract the Akuma.” Said Marinette, folding her arms, “and that is only one example.”
Marinette sighed, “As of today, the Snake Miraculous is being retired, at least until we figure out what the hell is going on. But, before then, Sass is to remain outside of his Miraculous, you are only to transform when you are given explicit permission by either myself or another Senior member of the team.”
Luka nodded numbly.
“Until we figure out, and fixed, what’s happened, you are not to respond to Akuma attacks, unless called for.” Said Marinette, firmly, before she sighed, “Luka, for all we know, the constant resets could be deteriorating your mind and impairing your judgement, make you a danger to others and yourself. We can’t have what happened to Aurore happen to you.”
Everyone shifted at the mention of Aurore, who’d gone mad after the Miraculous she had been using was damaged by Hawkmoth. Marinette was still working on putting the fragments of the Peacock back together, hoping that it would help in reversing the damage done to Aurore’s mind.
“You can keep the Miraculous, providing you don’t use it.” Said Marinette, a tone of finality in her voice.
Luka nodded, as Marinette gave a jerk of her head, silently dismissing everyone. After everyone had gone, Luka looked down at the Snake Miraculous and traced the thin, hair-line crack that marred the surface of it. Luka steeled himself, before following after Marinette, it was time he told her what happened to the Snake and the Peacock.

Princess Justice2
Second Part of my “What if” AU of Episode: Ladybug.
A got a bit wordy, sorry!
In AO3
-
“Master Fu, our worst nightmare has come true!” yelled Plagg as soon as they were inside Master Fu’s house. Wayzz looked at him with a sarcastic expression.
“Adrien feed you the wrong kind of cheese?”
“Our second worst nightmare has come true!” Plagg corrected himself. Master Fu and Wayzz stopped in their tracks and looked at the two newcomers seriously.
“Hawk Moth has gone scarlet again and…”
“Marinette has been akumatized” whispered Adrien.
Master Fu fell to his knees. Wayzz fell from the air and into a table.
“She…”
“She managed to take off her earrings before that.”
“So you know her identity”
Adrien avoided his eyes. He knew the rules, and this meant they both would be replaced.
“We need to act quickly. Hopefully Marinette will be able to hide who she is, even akumatized, and Tikki… where is Tikki?”
“Leading a rebellion with the rest of Marinette’s friends. Queen Bee and the others seemed very keen on rescuing her.”
“So you came for the Miraculous…”
“That or advice. This is too much, if I had been akumatized, I’m sure Lady… I’m sure Marinette would have found a way to bring me back, but I…”
“You are going to bring her back” said Master Fu, in a reassuring tone. “She trusts you, and I trust you too.” He went to the gramophone and took out the Miraculous Box, opening it.
“Adrien Abigail Agreste, this is a dire time, you must pick an ally you can trust to fight alongside you on this mission. Choose wisely; such powers are meant to serve the greater good. Once the mission is over, you will get the Miraculous back from them and return it to me.”
“Take them all!” begged Plagg “We’re going against Marinette! We will need as much help as we can get!”
“Is that allowed?”
“Normally I wouldn’t allow it, but Plagg is right. Marinette can, and will, be a formidable opponent, and you will need everything you have to go against her.”
Adrien picked every Miraculous, including the Turtle, and placed them in his bag.
“Please be safe. And remember that Marinette is not herself. Whatever happens, don’t hold it against her… But also, don’t hesitate to fight her, she’s counting on you.”
Adrien nods solemnly, realizing that he might need to go hand to hand against his La… against Marinette.
“Plagg, Claws out!”
-
In what felt like an eternity, Chat Noir reached the rooftop of the Le Grand Hotel Paris, then he went to Chloe’s room, where everyone was already reunited. Kagami and Luka were already there, and Chloe and Tikki seemed to be giving the others instructions. That’s when he noticed everyone was wearing a purse, pouch or designer bag, all apparently from Chloe’s collection. He also noticed Chloe had gotten installed a whiteboard with “Operation: Save Marinette” written at the top, and other squiggles he didn’t manage to read before Chloe called him.
“Glad you decided to show up!” teased Chloe. She then bit her lip when she realized what she had said. “Sorry, didn’t mean it like that.”
“Were you successful?” asked Tikki. Before he could answer, Kagami got up and was all in his face.
“Wow, it’s so obvious now. I can’t believe I was fooled before”
Adrien smiled. “Sorry, keeping our identities secret was a top priority. I didn’t even knew who was ladybug”
“Yeah, that’s pretty obvious now too” teased Alya. Once they rescued Marinette, she was in for the biggest surprise of her life.
Tikki cleared her throat. “Oh yeah. Plagg, Claws in!” Chat Noir transformed into Adrien before everyone’s eyes. He put out his bag and started giving everyone their miraculous. “You know the drill. Use these for good, don’t be a dick, return them after we’re done.” Chloe gave him a purse after receiving the Bee hairpin. “What’s with the bags?”
“We raided the kitchen. We don’t know how long the battle will last, and Tikki pointed out some of us might need to recharge, so each bag contains food for our specific kwami, and some extras for the others, just in case.”
“… This is your designer collection” noted Adrien. Chloe blushed when everyone started looking at the purses she had given them.
“Well, yeah, I had no time to get some cheap knock offs… And I wouldn’t know where  to buy them anyway” she added with a haughty tone. Adrien smiled. Even if she didn’t want to admit, she was worried about Marinette, and was willing to sacrifice her very valuable collection for her.
Chloe gave Pollen a sweet made of honey, which she thanked her for. The others did the same, Alya giving Trixx grape jelly donuts, Nino giving Wayzz pistachios, Xuppu stealing a banana from Kim, Max and Alix giving Kaalki and Fluff some carrots, Kagami giving Longg some peppers and Luka giving Sass some biscuits.
Adrien noted how the others were looking at their friends and their Kwamis in awe. He took a deep breath and reached inside the bag.
“Mylene Haprele, here is the Miraculous of the Mouse, which grants the power of Multiplying.” He gave the mouse necklace to Mylene, and then approached Ivan. “Ivan Bruel, here is the Miraculous of the Ox, which grants the power of strength.” He gave the nose ring to Ivan, who looked at it with curiosity. “Don’t worry, it’s a clip on, it stays with magic” Adrien approached Nathaniel. “Nathaniel Kurtzberg, here is the Miraculous of the Rooster, which grants the power of enlightment. “ He gave Nathaniel a thumb ring. “And Marc Anciel, here is the Miraculous of Goat, which grants the power of…”
“Thanks, but I already have a Miraculous”
“what”
“Yeah, we were thinking about it, and it would be highly suspicious if Ladybug doesn’t show up to fight Akumanette” Adrien made a mental note to ask who had made up that punny name.
“And Marc is the one that looks the most like Marinette” Adrien looked at Kagami instinctively.
“Yeah, my personality doesn’t match hers at all, I’m more blunt and serious, and not to mention it would be also suspicious if everyone else shows up except Ryuuko.”
“And I already read his Ladybug diary” teased Tikki, flying around Marc and landing on his head. “It was spot on” she giggled.
“Wouldn’t Hawk Moth notice a pair of things… different?” asked Adrien looking at Marc’s chest.
“Well yeah, but Tikki said that if I focus when transforming I will look like her.
“Doesn’t that bother you?”
“Losing Marinette to Akumatization bothers me more than looking like a girl”
“And if he doesn’t look exactly like Ladybug, Marcbug will use my ladybug suit over his” said Chloe, pointing out at her secret close, were her replica of the Ladybug suit was held. Adrien was always a little creeped out by that, but now it might come in handy.
“Sounds like a plan… OH! You guys, I trust you, but you have to know that once this is over the Miraculous must return to hiding.”
Everyone in the room nodded. The newly chosen were feeding their Kwamis, while they explained how to transform and what their powers would be.
“We all can use our powers just once, and then we have 5 minutes left on our transformations” lectured Adrien. “If that happens, find a safe place to detransform, feed your kwami and transform again to rejoin the battle. Try to keep your identity secret, but that’s not a priority. Guys, I know I’m asking a lot of you, but we might need to transform several times” he addressed the Kwamis, who nodded, as they wanted Marinette back as much as the humans.
“There will be probably more of those butterflies around, so this will be the hardest part.” Chloe took a deep breath. “Don’t lose hope. Have determination. Keep positive, whatever works for you. Marinette, Sabrina, Rose, Juleka… everyone is counting on us. “
“What about Lila?” asked Kim. Chloe glared at him.
“She tried to keep us inside. Is her fault Sabrina is not with us anymore” She took a deep breath, not wanting to attract a butterfly.
“If you run into her, don’t trust anything she says. Get rid of her if needed.”
“If Marinette hasn’t done that already” said Alya, covering her mouth immediately, regretting her words. Nino gave her a hug.
“Yeah…” Nino left out a sigh. “Don’t trust anything any of them say or do.” He looked around their group. “We all have been around akumas before, some do retain some of their host personality, but they’re still dangerous. They’re not themselves, so don’t hesitate to fight them with all you got. They’re counting on us.”
Adrien was amazed at his friend’s words. “The confirmed akumas are: Reflekta. She can transform you into copies of herself, which will make you unable to use your special power. If you can, take off your Miraculous to detransform before you become a copy, that way you can put your miraculous on top and transform again, otherwise, come to me for another Miraculous to keep fighting. She’s one of the less dangerous in the sense that you will retain your personality.”
“What if she tries to trick you to get a Miraculous?”
“Yeah, we need a safe word or something”
“Fine, if you get transformed into a Reflekta copy, come to me and say… ‘Marinette’s macaroons make me mad’”
Everyone nodded, practicing the phrase. It was a weird one that they would never say normally.
“Then there is Princess Fragrance. If you smell her perfume you will get brainwashed into being her slave, so prevent that at all costs. Ladybug’s yoyo and my cheerleader baton can act as respirators, but I don’t know if your weapons will be able to do that. Better nor risk it… Anyway, there’s Zombizou, which all of you know, and Dark Owl, which is a Batman rip-off. He doesn’t have powers, and I’m not sure if he got a super computer this time around, but he will have a lot of ridiculous and over specific gadgets, so beware that.”
“Did anyone else saw another akuma?” asked Chloe.
“Jean became the Magician of Misfortune again, so beware his tricks”
“And Stormy Weather appeared again”
“I think I saw Darkblade”
“Well, at least we know how all of those work. Oh! Marinette’s dad also became Weredad, he is super strong, but that’s his only power. He will most likely try to protect Marinette from us. Ivan, you might need to save your power to fight him”
Ivan nodded. Stompp nudged him affectionately. “You’ll do great”
“And Lila could still be Volpina… so that’s illusions again. Don’t trust her. That leaves us only with Marinette and her mom as the only unknown”
“And Sabrina…” added Chloe with a bit of sadness. “She could be Vanisher or Miraculer. No one is allowed to defeat her but me, is that understood?”
Everyone nodded. If that was Chloe’s weird way to show her affection, then so be it.
“Well, That covers Chloe and Ivan. Luka, I trust you to reset if anything goes wrong and tell us. If the five minutes go up and you transform, feed Sass and do it all over again.” Sass and Luka nodded. “Everyone else, I trust your judgment, just remember that is magic is fickle, so don’t say your special power out loud unless you really mean to use, as saying it could trigger it and your counter. Max and Markov… oh, I almost forgot”
Adrien took another Miraculous from inside his bag. “Markov … Kante? This si the Miraculous of the Dog, which grants the power of Tracking…”
“Wait, I get a Miraculous? But I’m not human…”
“You were able to be akumatized. There is an 87.97% chance that the Miraculous will work with you”
“Then I will do my best!”
Adrien put the Miraculous on Markov, and Barkk materialized from it.
“Our weapons also act as communication devices, and have a lot of other uses too; we have never had a chance to check if they work with you guys too. In case they do… Max, you’ll use Voyage so we can surprise attack the Castle, but will stay here with Markov.”
“What? Why? I’m just as capable of fighting as everyone else is!”
“Yes, but you’re a freaking genius, and with Markov, your capacity goes over 9000, so instead of going with us and doing what everyone else can, you’re going to use your horseshoe and whatever Markov get to hack into as much as you can and find who and where Hawk Moth is.”
Everyone looked at Adrien in surprise.
“I… I’ll do the best I can”
“That’s all I’m asking. Is everyone ready?” They nodded or said it so.
