Lovely Writer (started this bl drama as a joke, wishing to watch something cracky but this turned out to be very sweet? i was sobbing on like. episode 4? still some stuff that makes me sigh and roll my eyes but really gives back in many forms of wholeness)

uuuhhh after finishing my thesis i haven’t really felt like reading lol. but i have read a couple of research articles about the mental health services in china and the overall stigma of mental health that exists there. i’m trying to write this short essay about The Journey Across the Night for my last course bc what better way to use my obsession than to plaster it in some uni essay? so that others need to suffer with me? :) yeah. i was reading those articles yesterday and just crying on my balcony sigh, we as a humankind should just burn

any lighter books i haven’t read but fics yes. i keep checking dmbj’s tags on ao3 for new fics and read basically everything i can find :’D three latest faves have been:

To bind a tiger and subdue a lion by @humanlighthouse the updates just keep getting better and i keep feeling so emotional about this ;; am so excited to see where this goes and how pingxie will end this careful dance around each other (also gotta mention here that i absolutely adore the title of this fic!)

cause it's easier to bury my head in the sand sometimes by @s1utspeare i love wu xie and li cu. i love this fic. i love you brigid!! pls i would die for every fic you come up with, no matter what it is about. this one made me so soft ;; can i just pls wrap them all into a huge blanket?

some thoughts on modc 7-8:

wow all the angsty conversations happening in ep 7 it felt way longer than 20 min with all the sobbing and yelling - but tbh the conversations were very real and the dialogue imo was written quite well for the angsty parts

i’m glad FINALLY hao ting has broken up with si yu - and okay while he was not the softest about it he was firm and clear and not rude, which was nice

OKAY I AM SO CONFUSED THAT ZHI GANG DECIDED TO ACCEPT BO XIANG AND THAT HE LIKES BO XIANG?!!! IS IT JUST ME OR IT’S LIKE.. HOW ON EARTH DID IT HAPPEN?!! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SLOW BURN AND PINING THIS WAS LIKE SUDDENLY JUMPING OFF THE BUILDING

bo xiang + hao ting friendship is as always excellent - they’ve got each other’s backs and i swear that this made me a little sad because like…. can’t rmb the last time anyone would show me that much devotion lmao

loved that hao ting took a softer approach to xi gu, and the scene was SOFTTTTT although hao ting pls YOU ARE SO EXTRA HAHAHA he’s so extra idek whether i like it or i cringe

i’m still not really getting bo xiang and zhi gang in the sense - like they don’t feel like they’re totally on the same frequency right now? i mean all jokes aside, ZG makes a very good point on the age thing in terms of experience or just… idk, living in the world outside of school i suppose - hoping to see some plot development there

ZG seems really distracted even with BX gosh i’m so confused too

AND LMAO THE HIGHLIGHT OF BOTH EPS WAS THE THREE MUSKETEERS BORROWING BL MANGAS BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD UNDERSTAND BO XIANG BETTER LIKE THAT

okay scratch that - the part where hao ting casually mentions that oh yeah my friends i like guys now woohoo who knew

and finally, xi gu and hao ting’s relationship - i do believe that hao ting has xi gu’s best interests at heart in his own view, he’s trying really hard, and he’s succeeding, but also i suppose ZG has a point as he warns hao ting away from xi gu - he’s worried that HT would be a distraction for XG, and i do see where he’s coming from because HT IS NOT SUBTLE IN HIS COURTSHIP OF XG

and i already foresee si yu stirring shit up, especially after hao ting told si yu’s girl friend that he likes xi gu like WTF HT CAN U PLEASE BE MORE LOW PROFILE

nothing wrong with shouting to the world that he likes XG of course in principle, but i can see how much trouble XG might be in with people bothering him, and stuff like that. and si yu probably might go report xi gu to the school for working in the night club in revenge

arghhh cliche plot and i wish some of it was written differently

and THE OTHER TWIN WHO LIKES XI GU - first mover advantage unfortunately as we’ve all learnt from multiple dramas, and altho it’s obvious the other twin is more considerate of XG, HT is in XG’s face

HT will learn to be better i suppose, but in the meantime, i dont think ZG is wrong and poor BX who’s caught in the middle and doesn’t really know what to do

and HT needs to start thinking from XG’s point of view and think about what’s best for XG, although i think he’s TRYING his very best at the moment

OH AND I LOVED THE HT AND his sister’s scene in the beginning of ep 7 - wow a sibling relationship i covet because oooh my sister and i are like this:

I’m so glad my letter made its way to you!

I’m now extremely curious to know what prompted you to affectionately refer to Dino as rat haha

And I’m impressed with your conversations skills! You gave me so much to open up about I’ll have to consciously hold back a bit cause I’m prone to over sharing, but I don’t know what could give myself away (if there even is something to give myself away with...)

It seems impossible to me to bias just one person... In seventeen I fell for the 97 line but they didn’t come as a group, I got connected to each at separate times; DK had caught my eye even before I was into kpop with his first Arthurkyeom pictures, then I just discovered the ray of sunshine he is; Hao is my baby; and Myngiu is there to be my enemies to lovers trope cause his “perfectsona” gets on my nerves but I love the clumsy puppy

And I’m a fairly new atiny, I was converted by corseted Seonghwa in Kingdom appearing from behind that line of armed men.... (what a moment, I still get teary eyed thinking about it), but even before that, I had seen a video of Yunho with Rain and I was clearly interested, I remember thinking “This is the kind of man I need to have my eyes on” cause I thought he was older (I’m a 95 liner)... Jokes on me, he is even younger than my original 97 boys... So yeah, after watching a lot of their content and compilations no one was surprised these two ended up on my bias list... And I had my attention on Mingi cause I had seen a post comparing him to DK, so watching Ateez content I was kinda sulking and going “you are not him!” And yes, he is definitely not DK, but jokes on me again... I fell for yet another gigantic boy
