The kumotatewaku is a traditional Japanese pattern that resembles rising clouds. It is often used in the costumes of ancient nobles
The expression used here is 白羽の矢を立てる (literally: sticking a white feathered arrow), which is an idiom that means "selecting someone out of many people"
A chindonya is a kind of old-timey marching band that dressed in elaborate costumes to advertise for shops
Block style or kaisho style calligraphy is the regular script and the most commonly used. Every stroke is carefully executed

In early June, the prefectural preliminaries for the National High School Kyudo Tournament, also known as the prefectural tournament, were held.
Kyudo supply stores and photo studios were set up around the venue, and the storefronts were lined with commemorative goods for the tournament. The wind was strong on this day, and the young archers were moving against it. The competition event was close-distance shooting, using thirty-six-centimeter kasumi targets with a shooting distance of twenty-eight meters.
For the boys’ individual competition on the first day, Fujiwara Shuu of Kirisaki High School once again won by landing all his arrows. Second place was Kabashima, also from Kirisaki, and third place went to Asahina from Haneina High School, showing the strength of the powerhouse schools. For the girls’ competition, Seo from Kazemai High School placed fifth.
On the second day, it was finally time for the team competition. The format was five-person teams and four shots in zasha. In the preliminaries, the time limit was eight minutes. Forty-two schools were participating in the boys’ competition, and the top eight teams with the highest number of hits in the two rounds would advance to the final tournament.
Tommy-sensei raised his voice. “Now it’s time for the team competition. Kazemai will show its true strength. Everyone, I wish you good luck!”
“Yes!”
After completing the registration process, Kaito, Kanbayashi, Seiya, Himuro, and Minato put their numbers on their right hips. Ryouhei and Nanao were reserve members.
Himuro was expressionless like he always was, but Kanbayashi gently stroked his number.
“Oh no, I might be really happy after all…”
Keyaki nudged Kanbayshi. “Don’t grin like that and get it together. I don’t wanna hear you whine.”
“Of course.”
Next to them, Ryouhei was tying his yellow-green headband.
“Today, my sister, Sae-chan, and Toujou-san are coming to support us. I’m psyched!”
“That’s great, Ryouhei,” Minato and Seiya said.
The Nanao Fan Club had updated its cheering goods and prepared fans with a frog wearing a crown. They also handed them out to support groups and parents, and when the bright green of them swayed, it looked like a chorus of frogs.
As they were about to pass through the noisy venue, people approached Minato and the others. A young prince, twins, a boy with a square face and thick eyebrows, a boy with pleasant features and a crew cut, and an antique doll.
They were Kirisaki’s Fujiwara Shuu, Sugawara Senichi and Manji, Kabashima Umetarou, Yushima Kaoru, and Kuon Takumi. The twins burst into laughter in front of so many of their rivals.
Shuu brought his face close to Minato’s right ear. Since their master Saionji’s left ear was bad, Shuu only showed this habit to Saionji and Shuu.
“Thanks for the birthday present the other day. I’ll treasure it.”
Shuu put his thumb on his yugake. A white underglove with a purple pattern could be seen beneath it.
“I’m glad I was able to give it to you on May 11th this year. I thought it would be perfect for you.”
“The kumotatewaku pattern is rare for undergloves. (1) ——See you in the finals.”
“Yeah, the finals.”
The two of them bumped yugake and returned to their teammates.
Shuu’s gaze drifted to Kuon. Kuon was in the starting lineup for the day, but he was standing separate from everyone else. Everyone could tell that he was isolated, and was not a proudly solitary existence like Shuu. A dissonant sound was wafting from Kirisaki High School.
Kuon, who didn’t care about other people’s concerns, had moved onward. In fact, he was frustrated because he didn’t do well in yesterday’s individual competition.
Manji rested his elbow on Senichi’s shoulder.
“Will we okay with Kuon? I’m more suited to be the starter.”
“It’s frustrating, but his hitting rate is usually high. The coach said there was no problem either.”
“Alright, everyone, let’s go!”
At President Kabashima’s order, Shuu and the others headed to the venue.
Meanwhile, Tommy-sensei and Masa-san were in the shade of a tree, away from the crowd.
Masa-san straightened his collar.
“Why did you remove Ryouhei and Nanao from the starting lineup? There was nothing to criticize about their results.”
“If we make it to the finals, each person would have to shoot twenty shots in total. Even if it’s difficult to shoot twenty shots and hit, how about twelve shots? The aim is to preserve stamina.”
“There’s one more thing I’d like to confirm before we get into the tournament. On the day of the entrance ceremony, I heard you say to Minato and the others, ‘I have given you white-feathered arrows.’ (2) I’m sure that you knew that saying originated from the custom of playing an arrow with white feathers in front of the house of a girl chosen as a sacrifice. Why did you purposely use it?”
“It’s to prepare them. Once a ship leaves the port, you can’t turn back even if you shout to get off.”
“Are you telling them to prepare to share the same fate? Even though those who are wounded might fail again?”
“Hohoho, I didn’t mean it in such a sad way. Youth is the greatest weapon, since they can just start over again and again. I just felt that they could make it to the new continent. The first fleet, the Kazemai High School’s boy’s kyudo team, started with six members. Takigawa-san, you’re the first-born son. When I was able to convince you, I was convinced that we had completed our mission.”
“That’s a bold opinion, typical of Tommy-sensei.”
“It’s true of all sports, but one cannot win by the strength of the athlete alone. Especially in kyudo, the character of the master comes out strongly. Everyone resembles your shooting, Takigawa-san.”
“…My shooting was said to be very similar to my grandfather’s.”
“It’s the spirit of archer that is passed on.”
“…Yes.”
Masa-san looked at the treetops swaying in the wind and laughed.
Following the opening ceremony, the yawatashi ceremony was held.
The boys’ division was called for the preliminaries, and they headed to the waiting area with Masa-san leading them. As always, the most stressful time was sitting in the chairs and waiting. When the team before them finished, the “stand up” signal was given, and they rose from their chairs and advanced to the honza. They bowed at the signal to “begin,” walked to their shooting positions and knelt down. They chose two arrows from the four they had.
First up was the oomae, Kaito. It was lovely how he never trembled when facing the target. The lovelier he became, the more stubborn he got, and he would end up saying things that were different from his true feelings. He would say, “I have no interest in you,” but would grab the other person’s arm and not let them go in the same breath. He lived and breathed kyudo. That was Kaito’s everyday. After his right hand flicked, shouts of “good” came from the stands.
The second, Kanbayashi, raised his bow. The midsummer sun encouraged growth. He absorbed more and more of what was told to him and expanded towards the blue sky. He had seniors who he admired and pursued the shooting he admired. His longing had a zeal that surpassed his anxiety. His arrow pierced the target with a grand hanare.
The third, Seiya, was quiet. Wearing a straw hat and an insect cage, he entered the forest, but stopped when he saw a field of flowers. The neat and trim flowers swayed. When he lay down and looked up at the rising clouds, he felt like he was about to float away. He heard a familiar voice and stopped returning to the sky—he hit.
It was the fourth, Himuro’s, turn. He took the bowstring with a bodhisattva’s hand and looked at the target with a bodhisattva’s eyes. His ability to make an uncurving douzukuri was probably something he was born with. It was his natural posture with no effort put into it. The frogs in the stands jumped when he hit.
The fifth was the ochi, Minato. The white-feathered arrow was proof that he had been allowed to come into contact with the gods. He didn’t resist, go against it, and accepted it as it was. His limbs, stretching vertically and horizontally, were incredibly supple. His body of sixteen, which couldn’t be wished once more after it had passed, embraced the earth, wide and endless.
The matooto sounded.
Hanazawa, Shiragiku, and Seo, sitting in the stands, held their breath.
“The boys are amazing.”
“I feel like they have become more and more refined.”
“I heard that Narumiya and Takehaya have also been going to Saionji-sensei. Their drive is different.”
For the second shot, everyone except for Kanbayashi hit.
For the third shot, Kaito, Seiya, and Minato hit.
Keyaki’s chest swelled at the success of his fellow first-years. “Kazemai, do your best!” Shuu’s younger sister Sae and their butler Toujou cheered in a small voice.
For the fourth shot, Kaito hit with all four of his arrows and left the shooting range to applause. After him, Kanbayashi, Seiya, Himuro, and Minato all hit the target. Their result was four, two, four, three, and four for seventeen hits out of twenty. It was a very good start.
Kirisaki was the sixth team to enter the shooting range. A wall of people filled the surrounding area to catch a glimpse of the champions’ shooting.
The oomae, Kabashima, released his arrow.
Senichi, Kuon, and Yushima all hit. The ochi was Shuu.
Wash your heart and turn it into incense; revere your body and turn it into flowers. Those were Kukai’s words, meaning that it was the duty of a virtuous person to serve others without any thought. Those who had a pure heart were fragrant. Shuu knew firsthand that this wasn’t a metaphor. The feeling of euphoria he felt when he brought his face close to the owner of that scent. He heard whispers of wanting to be intoxicated, of not minding sinking to the bottom of the lake if he could have it all to himself, but those were the words of a demon. He must not fall for the sweet words of someone who looked like him.
Shuu’s evil-expelling arrow dashed forward.
The results for the two rounds were announced.
For the boys’ division, Kazemai had thirty-four hits out of forty, Kirisaki had thirty-six, and Haneina had thirty-five.
The Kazemai girls had only twenty-eight hits, so unfortunately they didn’t pass the preliminaries.
Minato and his teammates got the ticket to go to the finals.
Tumblr media
After lunch, the finals began. In the afternoon, the wind became stronger and their hakamas fluttered violently.
“It’s time to change the lineup. Yamanouchi-kun will be second, and Kisaragi-kun will be fourth. I’m counting on you,” Tommy-sensei said.
Ryouhei and Nanao received their numbers.
Minato adjusted the position of Ryouhei’s number.
“It looks like the five of us will be standing on that stage again. A year ago, you invited me to the information session for the kyudo club. That was the first time we five met face to face.”
“I wasn’t the only one who invited you. Everyone wanted to do kyudo with Minato.”
“Now, I can draw a bow. I’ve never been happier.”
Kaito brusquely held out his right hand, and the five boys looked at each other. Passionate feelings could be conveyed without words or skin contact.
Ryouhei, Nanao, Kaito, Seiya, and Minato bumped their yugakes together.
Kazemai’s opponent was Uyoshiro High School.
They were wearing bright red headbands. They lived in an area associated with military commanders who were famous during the Sengoku period, and when they went to a competition, they wore a certain armament. It was glasses. It might seem comical from the outside, but they did it very seriously.
The group stood in the first shajo. The oomae readied his bow and fixed his eyes on the target.
The bow maker, the yugake maker, and the arrow maker were the three gods of kyudo. The archer was the one who became intimate with these materialized gods. If there was a slight doubt or confusion, the string would make a muddy sound with those negative emotions. The twill brocade woven by the trinity of gods resembled battle attire. The flowers, birds, wind, and moon on the robe were the prayers of the samurai, and the butterflies (moths) represented the parents of the silkworm, production.
The flowers scattered. The flower battle was a warrior’s honor.
The oomae’s matooto resounded.
Kazemai’s oomae, Kaito, was undaunted. The wind beat mercilessly at his face, and his douzukuri felt like it was about to collapse under the wind, but he withstood it. Patience was his natural disposition. He might seem short-tempered, but he had the conviction to never give up. To not run away from the way of the bow. He was determined to cling to it for the rest of his life.
The nimato, Ryouhei, was listening to the news of the wind. Seeing the faces of his parents and sister in the stands, he felt strongly that he wasn’t alone in this fight. It seemed that people became stupid when they were angry and when they were happy. Their brain stopped working properly. The state in which one’s mind was clear and free from all distractions was called munen musou, and he learned from the path of the blade that you couldn’t fulfill your duties if you weren’t passionate.
The naka, Seiya, had found the answer to Minato’s question some time ago.
Why did humans shed their fur? It was to continue walking.
The ancestors of humans who left the forest for the grasslands learned to walk or run long distances in search of food. Body hair had a heat insulating effect and protected the skin from UV rays, but in order to prevent the body temperature from rising too high, they chose to abandon their fur and sweat instead. Humans had great endurance. The way one breathed was important in walking the long way of the bow.
The ochimae, Nanao, was thinking. Thinking was a linguistic activity.
There were two types of word formation. One was to give a name to something that had been hidden and make its existence manifest, and the other involved the intention of first creating a word and having the concept follow. When you learned a language, you not only acquired wisdom, culture, and thinking, but also the spell of words.
Letters and patterns were magical techniques that had their own power. If you looked down on them as just a means of communication, everything would be embodied and pour down upon them. There were no magic words; words were magic. A story was a kind of magic and truth. If you write it as tsurune, it would be called tsurune. A tsurune was the beautiful sound of a bowstring.
Nanao’s sharp hanare brought forth the next wind.
The ochi, Minato, held his bow.
Just how heavy was this shot?
Just how light was this shot?
“I” was the one who gave it meaning. The god of the bow didn’t smile at those who couldn’t love themselves or others. Because humans were incarnations of the gods.
Minato forgot that he was a human and turned into the matooto.
Uyoshiro had three, three, four, two, and four for a total of sixteen hits.
Kazemai had three, four, three, four, four for a total of eighteen hits.
Minato and his team made it through the first round without incident.
Tumblr media
The second round began.
The stands were filled with people wearing blue and yellow-green headbands. The two waves struggled, almost swallowing each other up, almost to the point of spilling over onto the yamichi.
Kazemai’s opponent was Konoe High School.
Their blue arrow feathers and headbands were their trademarks.
Only those with kyudo experience would understand the exhilarating feeling of seeing the actions of five people overlap. There were rules even for movements such as taking a step forward, sitting, and nocking an arrow into a bow, and because there were rules, it was possible to match each other. Ikiai was the embodiment of the red droplets that circulated around the body.
They shot arrows every day. The faces were almost the same. The repeated daily routines were a series of miracles. They take up the bow, hoping to grow even just a millimeter better than they were yesterday. For most people, landing a hundred hits with a hundred arrows was just a dream, and it was precisely because they couldn’t do what they wanted to do that they got absorbed in it. The sound of the arrow hitting the target was pleasant, and they wished it would happen again, but the god of hitting was a contrarian. The moment you wished it, the chance escaped. Approaching something without wanting to approach it was nothing but a dilemma for humans, who had developed enlarged brains.
Don’t think, just feel, as a martial artist once said. How long would it take to reach that state? Even if it was achieved, would it be possible to maintain it? If you kept thinking like this, it seemed that you still had a long way to go.
Kazemai’s archers faced themselves in the form of the targets.
The aggressive Kaito, the lively Ryouhei, the intelligent Seiya, the sparkling Nanao, and the pure Minato.
They highlighted and polished their inherent colors.
Their inexperience became a weapon. Even though they were told that there was darkness an inch ahead, they wouldn’t be able to understand unless they looked into it, and they wouldn’t notice it unless they fell into it. Pain was something you only knew when you suffered it, and hate was something you feared only when you possessed it. The cry of the inner soul could only be learned through experience, and words were powerless there. No matter how many words you wrote, they would never be understood by those who never experienced it. Only an archer knew the heart of an archer.
A world of just two people, the bow and the human.
The bow caught the innocent body falling.
The ecstasy a bow gave you was different from that of humans. Skin with goosebumps and surging droplets. It was a ritual to bind the soul that was about to drift away to the body. There was no sound without a container. You couldn’t make a sound with an empty shell.
Minato and the others raised their bows, spread them wide, and released their arrows. Ashibumi, douzukuri, yugamae, uchiokoshi, hikiwake, kai, hanare. They followed these eight stages and headed towards the heights.
The results of the second round were as follows.
Konoe had three, four, four, three, four, for a total of eighteen hits.
Kazemai had four, three, four, four, four, for a total of nineteen hits.
Kazemai won by a difference of one hit.
Tumblr media
Since there was some time until the finals, Minato went out to the front.
He wasn’t feeling bad. If anything, he was focusing on calming himself so he didn’t go too fast. A dull mind and a weak body. At first glance, it might seem like a state far removed from martial arts, but eliminating the “self” was the secret to being able to freely manipulate the body. As long as “I” resided in the body, the god of the bow would not descend upon you.
To become empty.
Even if it could be understood as a concept, it was extremely difficult to embody it.
An elderly man called out to Minato.
“It’s almost time for the finals. Just like last year, the match between Kirisaki and Kazemai is a must-see.”
“Thank you very much. But the match between Kirisaki and Haneina is about to begin.”
“No, no, the match is already decided before it even began, right? Did you see the head of those students from Haneina? A chicken’s cockscomb and a horse’s tail. The training clothes they wore in their Yotube streams looked like something from an old marching band. (3) You’re wearing a clean white kyudogi and your hair is neat. It’s praiseworthy. That’s what a Japanese boy should look like.”
“…I do have short hair, and I like white kyudogi. But, if someone is serious about kyudo, I will acknowledge them as an archer no matter what they wear.”
“What’s with that way of talking? Seems like I thought too highly of you.”
The man left. Minato went outside to focus his mind, but he ended up inviting needless interference.
His yellow-green headband was fluttering. It was something a master had prepared for his disciples.
Minato took a deep breath once more.
Tumblr media
The card of Kirisaki versus Haneina in the second round got people excited.
Asahina raised the corner of his mouth.
“Nice. It looks great.”
Eddie tied an orange headband tightly.
“I am trembling at the prospect of a worthy opponent, that I am.”
Matsuda, who had poor eyesight, placed his hand on the shoulder of the poet Kanuma. Igarashi started walking while holding flowers. People naturally gave way to them. The existence of Haneina’s kyudo club was already dramatic in itself. The five of them walked leisurely down the flowery path.
The two schools began to enter the shajo, and the spectators held their breath as they watched.
In the first shajo, Eddie raised his bow. His blond ponytail swayed and sparkled in the sunlight. A stop, an upward turn, and a sweeping stroke. His shooting was like the block style of calligraphy. (4) A work of art that changed seven ways depending on the tools, brushstrokes, style, and word selection. His stance was to never prepare practice sheets, but always treat it as though it was the real thing. He quickly drew back his brush, and the arrow flew towards the target.
The second, Matsuda, hit.
The third, Kanuma, hit.
The fourth, Igarashi, hit.
The fifth, Asahina, begun to raise his bow. His red hair stood out against the green grass. His self-confidence and warm-hearted personality brought out the bright sun. When he drew his bow, his limbs stretched to infinity. The matooto resounded.
Kirisaki also matched their pace.
The oomae, Kabashima, hit.
The nimato, Senichi, hit.
The naka, Kuon, hit.
The ochimae, Yushima, hit.
When the ochi Shuu hit, the scoring board was lined with circle marks.
No one missed their second shot as well. The sound of the matooto and the cheers of the crowd made their bodies numb, and the elation made them desire more and more matooto. They became greedier and greedier.
Kuon was confident that he would never lose to the red-headed guy. If they went on to win, he would be placed in the same picture frame as the Young Prince, Fujiwara Shuu. What a beautiful picture it would be!
He melted into the world of images.
Tumblr media
Now, let’s sneak in.
This was Tsujimine High School.
A boy with the hood of his white hoodie pulled deeply over his head walked over. A boy with streaked hair was standing a little further away. He stole the key from the staff room and hid it in his pocket.
Nikaidou and Fuwa were in the music room. They stood in front of the piano and gently opened the lid.
Along with Fuwa’s piano melody, Nikaidou played the drums using his hands and knees. He was very into music games and could even reach an uncanny level of fast drumming in games like Kotaiko no Tatsujin.
One day, after club activities, Nikaidou was tapping a rhythm on his knees on a whim when Fuwa correctly guessed the name of the song.
“Konahanasakuya-hime.”
“…Correct.”
Since then, the sneak-in sessions, not street piano, had continued.
Konohanasakuya-hime no Mikoto, the origin of the song’s title, was the name of the most beautiful goddess in the history of Japanese mythology. Her father was Ooyamatsumi no Mikoto, and her husband was Ninigi no Mikoto, grandson of Amaterasu Oomikami. Her husband accused her of infidelity, and in order to prove her innocence, she set fire to the delivery room and gave birth to three children in the flames.
When the two of them were babies, they had a scarlet seal stamped onto their faces at a festival called Hatsuyama to pray for their healthy growth. It felt creepy thinking that they might have passed by each other somewhere.
Fuwa began to play a song. As he proceeded at a walking pace, Nikaidou stood next to him.
A fearless smile—the start of a duet.
My fingertips hit the keyboard. The melody, chords, and bass line. Nikaidou sped up the main melody while adding improvisations. There was no way Fuwa wouldn’t take up this challenge.
“Nikaidou, can you keep to my speed?”
“Hah, there’s no way I’m following you.”
“Good grief.”
Fuwa ignored Nikaidou and decided to go fast. He was crafty with techniques such as giving someone glimpses and keeping them in suspense. Fuwa always kept his distance from others. Though he had purposely drawn a line telling them not to come over, those who crossed that line were, so to speak, prey. There was no need to hold back. He would shake them, shake them, shake them until they begged for forgiveness.
Nikaidou attended piano lessons when he was a child, but quit after learning “Turkish March” and had been studying on his own ever since. On the other hand, Fuwa’s mother was a piano teacher. Knowing the difference in their abilities, Nikaidou devised a plan. He tried to find rhythms that players might not be comfortable with, such as lowering the key by a semitone or changing chords.
Fuwa made full use of his techniques. Nikaidou clicked his tongue, then reached over Fuwa’s arm and hit a high key. It was more of a fierce battle than a fun session. Sound and breathing filled the room. The music room wasn’t air conditioned in order to prevent unauthorized use. If the sound leaked out, the shame would be unbearable. They played the whole song while sweating.
“It’s not fun at all playing with you,” Fuwa muttered.
“Same here.”
“Get out of here.”
“Yeah, yeah. You’ve always been an arrogant king, Koushirou.”
Nikaidou took off his white hoodie. His body was hot and he was breathing heavily. He reached into his bag to get something to wipe off his sweat and grabbed a towel and his phone.
The results of the prefectural tournament where Minato and the others were in were displayed on the screen.
“…Oh man. I think I’m gonna laugh.”
“You laughing by yourself isn’t a good thing. Alright, I’ll ask. What happened?”
“Kirisaki lost in the second round of the final tournament.”
“What!?”
Fuwa stared into Nikaidou’s large eyes.
“That’s a big upset. Who was their opponent?”
“It’s the school of the Yotubers Asahina and Eddie. Shuu-kun really is a lovely man. As expected, my special won’t let me down. I wonder if Minato-chan will entertain me as well.”
Nikaidou loosened the collar of his white shirt.
Tumblr media
After the wind that had been blowing since the morning calmed down, an incredibly bright blue sky spread out above Shuu’s head.
Kirisaki had nineteen hits.
Haneina had twenty hits.
The powerhouse Kirisaki High School was defeated in the second round of the prefectural tournament.
Under the sunlight, the Kirisaki members calmly began cleaning up. “We all did well,” the president Kabashima exclaimed, and Yushima smiled and said, “It’s been a fulfilling three years. I’m grateful to everyone,” but Senichi and Manji couldn’t hide the heaviness of their steps. They endured the overwhelming mixture of feelings of inadequacy and jealousy toward those who had earned the smile of the goddess of victory.
There was only one person who missed in this team, and that was Kuon. Despite the weather having returned to calm, he looked as though he had inhaled a cloud of dust.
One could almost hear the crunching sound of it.
“Fujiwara-senpai, I’m so sorry.”
“There’s nothing to apologize for.”
“But, still! Even if it’s to yell at me, please just say something to me.”
“I have nothing to say.”
Shuu left without saying any more.
Devastated, Kuon turned to face the person who appeared in the corner of his vision.
Minato, who was going to talk to Shuu, saw what happened.
“Kuon-kun, it’s usual for Shuu to not express his thoughts after a match. Don’t worry about it,” he told him, then immediately followed Shuu.
Kuon stared at Minato’s back and bit his lip.
Was he pitying me?
Who on earth were you talking to when you said “don’t worry about it?”
I can’t believe someone of the lower class is looking down on me!
Minato had no clue about Kuon’s delusions. He was running after someone he must not lose sight of.
He shouted the name of his brother disciple.
“Shuu!”
Shuu turned around and smiled. It was all he could to not drop his bow.
“I’m sorry, Minato. I wasn’t able to fulfill our promise to meet in the finals. It seems that I don’t have any luck with team matches.”
“That’s not true, Shuu. You’re my first bow friend—a genuine archer. We met at that kyudojo when we were little.”
“Minato.”
“Someday, we will definitely team up together.”
“…Yeah, I’m looking forward to that.”
What a cruel person.
You were the one who lit this fire under me.
God of the bow, please save me.
We are babies who don’t know anything. Although no ships nor people have arrived there, the sun is a red, blazing star that will someday turn to dust. We never witnessed the beginning and end of the story, and we believe in an empty dream that cannot be verified. Dreams are seen when one is asleep. People are still sleeping. A dream from which we can never wake. In the darkness, only my old friend knows what I did. Only you can burn me to ashes.
Shuu touched Minato’s forehead with his yugake-covered hand. His cold fingers were trembling.
He couldn’t let go of that unforgettable body warmth.

character ask: kagami, momoi, alex and himuro 👀👀👀
!!! omg thank u Ceru! u might be one of my favorite mutuals <33 (putting this under a read more just so I can speak at lengths about each individual character)
Why I like Kagami: this is where I sarcastically ask “why DON’T i like him” but that’s literally the next question so; he’s everything i want to be and more. He has the determination and the willpower to make his own dreams come true, he’s gay as shit, he’s tall and buff and well-adjusted, mature enough to live on his own at an annoyingly young age, he’s funny and dumb and a total himbo as well as an excellent advisor bc of how grounded he is.
Why I don’t: I’m... not really good with explosive people. Violent men with loud voices especially scare me, and I’d think I’d flinch around him a lot and that would make me rlly anxious.
Favorite episode: it’s a toss-up between the Seirin fam visiting his place for the first time (is it where Kuroko confesses his love to him and then passes out in his arms? idk), and the onsen episode. I also loved all his plays against Kise and Aomine. AND the training camp w him running a lot in the sand.
Favorite season/movie: season 2 probably because he’s not a jerk anymore, but he’s still on his way to shed off any asshole behavior stuck to him. And I actually liked Last Game?
Favorite line: “There’s no such thing as useless effort.” and “This is our drama and we write the plot.” because he’s so ridiculous.
Favorite outfit: all of his casual fits... comfy but manly is my Jam
OTP: AoKaga....they’re truly soulmates, star-crossed lovers, canonically brought together by fate.
Brotp/otp no. 2: KagaKuro, I love them
Head Canon: I have several collections because I think too much about this boy, but here’s something I think about his family: he doesn’t know what happened to his mom. He never asked, because it wasn’t relevant, and he didn’t want to inconvenience his dad by questioning him. Occasionally, as a kid he felt like he was missing out on something (seeing other kids with their moms, feeling like they’re being treated with much more gentle care because they have moms), but as he grew older he realized that nurturing behavior shouldn’t have been limited to only a mother, and that he was just straight up neglected without any regards to missing a parent in his life.
Unpopular opinion: I never realized this was an unpopular opinion but I’m glad he went back to America at the end of Last Game. Obviously, it’s sad that he had to separate from the others, but I felt like Japanese basketball has always been just a stepping point to him, and now that he’d beat the best of them, it was time to move on. And it also warms my heart that him getting scouted in the US gave Aomine hope to aim big, too. I felt like both of them would’ve felt trapped in Japan with their skill sets.
A wish: I want him to be happy and gay and to confront Himuro and tell him how hurt he was by how he treated him and probably do the same to his dad too
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: ....whatever I’d say Shinsun has probably written it/will write it, but I don’t want him to forget about the GoM just because he becomes a world-famous athlete.
5 words to best describe them: sweet child with anger issues
My nickname for them: not mine (it’s Sypha’s) but “Kags”, Kagami, Tigerboy, Kagababe, Baby
Why I like Momoi: she is SO nurturing and sweet and she cares so much about her boys!! I’m sorry it always turns into “how they remind me of myself” but actually I get feeling like a background character and being the moral/emotional/physical support of those who are more talented or in any way better than you. I feel a strange kind of kinship with her and also,,, feminine girls make my heart stop, and it doesn’t get more feminine than Momoi. Added: Aomine aside, the Touou team wouldn’t worth shit without her skills tbh, and she’s not in any way less than the GoM. Also, I appreciate her being the one person to try to keep their friend group together.
Why I don’t: Analytical People Scare me like!! how do u know stuff people are Unknowable!! I usually am also irked by her pointing out Riko’s breast size but I can just pretend that’s in a gay way (maybe Momoi likes girls with small boobs and she’s just bad at flirting) (also I don’t exactly liked her calling Aomine a “ganguro” but I have too little knowledge on the use of this word to say exactly why)
Favorite episode (scene if movie): uh the one where Aomine made her cry? It really came through how much love she actually has for her friends at that one.
Favorite season/movie: she was great in all of them!!
Favorite line: I can’t remember the exact quote and Google isn’t really helpful either but the one where she made Kuroko promise they’ll always play together or something? Or that they’re gonna beat Aomine?? idk?
Favorite outfit: I like all of them but mostly I just appreciate her wearing so many hoodies, she looks so cute in them
OTP / Brotp: it’s both AoMomo. I feel like the have the most special and strongest bond in the entire series.
Head Canon: She’s never been shown to do, but I feel like she wears Aomine’s clothes a Lot. Also, they definitely have sleepovers To This Day.
Unpopular opinion: Momoi is good at basketball and she loves playing!!! But try being successful in it when ur opponents are Giants and Way More Buff than you are
A wish: I wish people appreciated her more!! Both in fandom and in canon. She’s an amazing person and she has her own skills and strengths that are rarely explored or even mentioned anywhere.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: her falling out with her boys ;-; I do not want that
5 words to best describe them: strawberry sweetheart to steal ur heart
My nickname for them: Satsuki :> I feel like it’s a little too much to call characters on their first names sometimes but hers is so cute I can’t
Why I like Alex: yet again another woman with an extensive skill set. I love her persistence and again I appreciate getting disillusioned and finding your way back to the thing you love. Also it’s just sweet that she did that by teaching (again, something I can relate to)
Why I don’t: the whole “kissing children” thing rubbed me the wrong way but again, just like Momoi’s obsession with comparing breast sizes, it’s just bad/sexist writing from Fujimaki probably
Favorite episode (scene if movie): adshg any and all where she expressed that Himuro and Kagami are equally important to her <33 that shit makes my heart burst
Favorite season/movie: she only appears towards the end of s2 and in s3 so... I guess s3?
Favorite line: its so Bad that u literally can’t find the iconic quotes of these iconic ladies anywhere but... her story on finding her passion again through teaching kids, and anytime she mentions her fondness of Kagami and Himuro.
Favorite outfit: her iconic olive green coat with the short red shorts... wtf was that I loved it.
OTP: she doesn’t really interact with people her age but I’ve heard she’s shipped with Masako Araki and I’ve seen some seriously good fanarts and like... Yes Good I’d Love To See It
Brotp: I feel like her and Himuro would be that sassy pair that Kagami tries and fails to contain and they get into all sorts of weird, absurd situations asdjs what I’m trying to say is Kagami has to bail them out of jail from time to time
Head Canon: fck me if I’m wrong but she’s the lesbian single mom of the two gay kids she reluctantly adopted from the streets
Unpopular opinion: it’s more like another headcanon, but she can dunk and she taught Kagami how to do it.
A wish: I’d love her to coach the Seirin fam more!! Pls let her be part of her children’s lives (she could also judge streetball games between the goms it would be fun)
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: anything about her being romantically involved with her pupils makes me.................no
5 words to best describe them: Beautiful Beach Blonde Basketball....goddess
My nickname for them: Alex!! sometimes An Icon
Why I like Himuro: em dash Asdgsdj I’m joking, I’m becoming more and more fond of the boy. Once I realized that he shouldn’t have been the “bigger person” in that situation and one year doesn’t really mean much when you’re that young and that hurt, I realized he’s actually a good and hard-working kid and I’m sorry for giving him so much shade. Also I really like his snark and sass, but that might not even be canon at this point tbh
Why I don’t: I’m still sort of irked by him beating down on Kagami because he was envious/mad, but I realized the aspect of that situation that Really got to me was how devoted Kagami still was to him after all that. That devotion was what felt toxic, nothing that Himuro actually did to him.
Favorite episode (scene if movie): the time they met up w Kagami just to exchange a dramatic socially distancing bro fist and a few encouraging words.... gays be Like That
Favorite season/movie: I really didn’t mind s3 Himuro
Favorite line: apparently he’s said some iconic stuff that I don’t remember (and my sources don’t seem really legit) but I’m gonna say “let’s see you become number 1, bro” because again, that’s just so ridiculous and endearing. On one hand he really went from loathing Kagami to rooting for him and wanting him to reach his full potential and on the other, honey ur  like 17 stop speaking like That
Favorite outfit: his knitted V-neck sweaters and the black coat with the white fur.... boy’s got all the fashion sense that’s missing from Kagami
OTP: can I say.....AoHimu asdfh I ship 3/4 of these characters with Aomine what does that say about me
Brotp: KagaHimu. They can be sweet, but I’ve only ever seen Jake write them really well
Head Canon: I’ve been entertaining the idea of....trans Himuro.....
Unpopular opinion: everyone thinks that Kagami is the violent kid and Himuro is the chill, sweet child who’s somehow wound up with this mess of a fiery tiger, but it’s actually Himuro who taught Kagami how to fight and Kagami learned quite a lot of aggression from him
A wish: I feel like Himuro should’ve gotten a separate episode to explore his thoughts, feelings and past. He had so much potential as a character Is2g
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: him quitting basketball would fucking destroy me. I’d be devastated for others too, but it would really pull on my heartstrings if he just dropped the only thing he’s been so passionate about.
5 words to best describe them: gender-non-conforming emo child
My nickname for them: Himu, Tatsuya, Tatsu

jealous!s/o.
request: hello! i love your writing so much! can i request for murasakibara’s gf being jealous and upset because they’re from different schools and they don’t get to see each other much + there’s a girl who always hangs around him
# tags: scenario; long distance & current relationship; romance; mild drama; but also fluff; sfw
includes: female reader ft. atsushi murasakibara {knb}
author’s note: murasakibara my baby 😭
Tumblr media
You smiled at the phone, then walked into Yosen High, looking around carefully. The school was really big and beautiful compared to your regular, small and old Morioka High School in Iwate prefecture. But you didn’t come here to see the buildings. You wanted to spend the weekend with your boyfriend because you had already talked to your parents and Atsushi’s parents a week earlier about it. They gladly agreed to your trip to Akita so that you could give your tall boy a small gift in the form of your own arrival and a few packs of his favorite (and new) snacks.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that you lived three hours away from each other, and you had a lot of activities at school and after classes, you couldn’t see each other as often as you would like. Of course, you spent Christmas, anniversaries, holidays and birthdays together, but during the school year it was difficult to realize it. You had to be content with conversations on the phone, video calls and hundreds of text messages.
Luckily you didn’t go to school today and took the train to Akita instead. Atsushi’s mother and his older sister were waiting for you on the platform, so you took your bag to their house, took a quick shower after the trip, put on more comfortable pants and a loose shirt, and thanked them for everything, taking only your black bag, wallet with some money, phone and headphones. Mrs. Murasakibara wanted to drive you to her son’s school, but you refused with a warm voice saying that you would be happy to take a walk. You helped yourself with a Google Maps and finally reached the High School building, entering it.
Earlier, you wrote a little with your soft giant’s friend – Himuro – who told you that today the Yosen school basketball team will have another training session and you should come on it. He described the way to the gym for you and said he would keep Murasakibara in the gymnasium for as long as necessary.
Fortunately, you managed to come to training, or rather a short break between games, so you breathed a sigh of relief.
You stuck your head out from behind the wall and looked around the large room.
Although you’ve been to Atsushi’s house more than once, his school was new and strange to you. The same could be said for most of your boyfriend’s team, since you only knew Tatsuya. But they seemed nice and lovely, so you smiled gently.
After a while, however, the smile on your face turned into a small frown when you felt a hit on your waist and heard a girly laugh.
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t notice you, little one.”
You looked up, noticing a girl slightly taller than you. You nodded at her as you looked inside the room again.
“Are you a fan?” She asked suddenly, drawing your attention again.
“No. Not really...”
“Oh. So... You like someone from basketball team? But you’re not from our school, I’m right?” She chuckled as she adjusted her uniform. “Anyway, you can take anyone but not Murasakibara. I like him. And, you know. I was first.” She added in a confident voice, and you raised an eyebrow and clenched your fists.
‘Is she just...’
“Anyway, bye. I’m going to say ‘hi’ to him.” She add at the end, entering the room, swinging her hips.
Most of the team sighed at the sight of her figure, but your boyfriend was busy yawning though, so he didn’t notice her at first. Coach Araki too.
You also shyly entered the room, clenching your hands on your purse and the phone which was still in your hand. You wanted to call Atsushi, but the tall blonde girl was faster than you and patting him on the back. When he looked at her, she give him a pack of colorful jelly beans and smiled.
“Hello, Atsushi-kun.”
‘Did she greet him by first name?’ Your smile faded even more, and your cheeks flushed with anger. At the same moment your presence was noticed by Himuro and the boy with ashen hair. They immediately approached you.
“Y/N-chan, hi. I thought you were lost or something...” The black-haired man laughed softly and then introduced you to the basketball player next to you, known as Kensuke Fukui.
“... Who is she?” You asked hesitantly, pointing at the girl.
“Murasakibara’s annoying fangirl. But he doesn’t pay attention to she. I mean, he doesn’t even remember her name, so don’t worry.” The new boy you met a few seconds ago truthfully answered, and you sighed.
“I came here especially for Atsu, but now I’m afraid to come up to him...” You muttered a bit sad and also upset, still looking at your tall boyfriend and the unknown young girl who was telling him something with big interest.
“As I said, don’t worry, Y/N-chan. I’ll call him. He will definitely be pleased. You know, he was complaining all day about that you didn’t write back to him.” Tatsuya laughed second time, patting you on the shoulder, then looked at his best friend. “Hey, Atsushi! Look who’s here!”
“Ehh? What's it, Muro-chin?” Your boyfriend turned and the two tall basketball players exposed your tiny body, causing purple-haired center to open his eyes wider. “Y/N-chin...” He handed the pack of jelly beans to the girl standing next to him and ran towards you like a little, happy puppy.
Five steps later he was beside you, hugging you to his warm chest, and you kissed his cheek, laughing loudly.
“Surprise, ‘Sushi.”
“Y/N-chin, what are you doing here, huh?” He grunted, picking you up and hugging you once again. “Do your parents know about this?”
“Well, I missed you so much. Everyone knew except you, because it’s a surprise, baby. Oh, I also have some of your favorite snacks for you. I was able to buy a new flavor... salt caramel or something like that.” You laughed, and his eyes flashed with joy.
“I love you.” He muttered. “I hate jellies and she keeps bringing them to me all the time... I prefer maiubo from you. Aaaand I generally prefer my Chibi-chin. Will you stay with me today?”
“I love you too. And, yes. I will stay for the whole weekend, baby.”
“Mmm. I am very pleased.” He hugged you again and then put you on the ground, placing his big hand on your head. “Want to play with us?”
“If your coach and captain don’t mind...”
“They don’t, come on, Y/N-chin.” He grabbed your smooth hand and walked towards the team. “I will introduce you to everyone.”
“Okay, baby.”
“... And you, young lady, please, leave the sports hall. Only players, coaches, managers and people who are welcome are allowed to enter gym.” Mrs. Araki spoke suddenly with her sword in her hand, and the blonde girl escaped from the huge room a moment later with pinky cheeks.

Kuroko’s Basketball: Scenarios
Prompt: In a Relationship
Kuroko: He’d spend quite a lot of time with you during his free time. His top priority (as it will be with most of the characters) is basketball practice, and he’d need a partner that understood that. However, when he does have free time, he’s willing to do what you want to do. He’s not the most emotionally expressive person, which means he’d need someone who could understand him easily and know how to handle his somewhat blunt manner. Around you though he’d be a bit more expressive, often giving you small smiles and staying close to your side. He likes listening to you talk about things that happened to you, and he likes talking about basketball practice with you (it’s a form of stress relief when he hangs out with you) He’s an extremely easy partner to handle.
Aomine: He’s an extremely physically affectionate person, but in a different way than normal. Now that he’s dating you, his actions aren’t as reserved and he’d indulge in his physical desires a bit more (nothing to inappropriate though because 1. You’re in public most of the time 2. He’d ask for permission first). He likes cuddling in his room quite a lot, but he forbids you from sharing that with anyone (including Satsuki). On an emotional level, he’s quite lazy and a lot of effort would have to come from you, especially if you like romantic things. However, he’d be attentive and help you out if you asked (He definitely seems like the type to want to prove he’s a man). He’d be the hardest one to handle out of these characters, because he’s prideful and stubborn
Kise: There are two options for how the relationship would work out. One, he’d be reserved in public and would try to distance himself from you because of his fans (he doesn’t want you to be targeted). Or two, he’d pepper you with affection constantly and practically beg for affection from you throughout the day. Kise is an extremely physically affectionate person and I think in his relationship he’d like to be constantly touching his partner. He’s a very nice guy and is overly enthusiastic and friendly about everything, so he’d be nothing but kind. He’d probably talk the most in the relationship, and he’d also engage in stereotypical romantic things (if you aren’t into that, he’d figure it out after a while and switch his methods into something he knows you’d like). Kise would love if you came to his practice and would try to show off for you if you are in the sidelines (He’s just constantly trying to impress). Overall, he’s the outgoing type and it would be reflected in his relationship
Akashi: He’s quite similar to Kuroko in the sense that he’s reserved about his affections, but only in public. In private, he’ll constantly have you close to his body and likes to cuddle with you after an exhausting practice (and of course a shower). His facial expressions are more expressive than Kuroko’s and he smiles more often at things you say. Moreover, in public he likes to hold your hand as a way to ensure you’re still with him, especially when the crowds are large. He’s an extremely protective boyfriend and he often glares at other guys who try to flirt with you. After the match with Kuroko, he’s a bit more gentle and his possessiveness slips away, however, it is still there, just not as prominent. Overall though he’d be very caring, and attentive to your needs (comes with his great observation skills).
Midorima: PDA is forbidden with him. He dislikes any form of physical affection in public and he gets embarrassed too easily, especially when it comes to people watching the two of you. Even in private he’s very reserved about physical affection and blushes extremely easily from simple signs of affection. He likes to hang out with you though, and willingly puts in effort into the relationship, especially on special days (birthdays, holidays, etc). He’s superstitious (horoscopes) and would give you items to increase your luck because he doesn’t want anything bad to happen to you. It makes him especially happy when you offer to support him in any way with his basketball, whether it be going to buy him lucky items or tape, making sure he’s taking care of himself, and helping him with practice. It’s simple gestures that make him happy (even though he doesn’t really show it).
Murasakibara: This would be a very relaxed and chill relationship. Sometimes it would feel like you’re mothering him a bit too much, because he is stubborn and isn’t considered motivated about a lot of things. However, he’s affectionate in subtle ways and likes to cuddle with you a lot, especially after practice. You two often get sweets and enjoy them at the park or at his house. Your dates consist of just lounging around, exchanging a few words, and enjoying the sweets from the nearby convenience store. He’s not big on the romantic side of things, but Himuro would probably lecture him about it if he noticed you feeling upset at the lack of ‘excitement’ in your relationship, and then Murasakibara would put some more effort in just to make you happy.
Kagami: Kagami’s relationship would heavily revolve around basketball. He enjoys it immensely when you help him out with his basketball and, honestly your dates would most likely be spent at the park watching him play or playing with him. After that though he’d take you out for dinner (most likely a take-out place, but it doesn’t matter because he pays for the food). He’s not big on PDA, but it doesn’t bother him too much. He likes holding your hand in his when you guys walk and there might be some pink dusting his cheeks (Don’t mention it or else he’d release your hands immediately). He enjoys cuddling when in his private abode (him being the big spoon). His favourite position would be just him sitting there and you sitting in between his legs with his arms wrapped around you. Also, he’s the perfect housewife because he cooks for you often.
I haven’t watched Kuroko’s Basketball in like two years, but I think I still have a good grasp on their personalities
Let me know if you’d like to see other characters

Kurobas Valentine’s Day Event 2020 Day 1: MuraHimu
Decided to participate just because I feel inspired. Thank you so much @vanilla-daydreams and @theuglycrybaby for making this possible. So yeah for Day 1, I have decided to do my ultimate ship, MuraHimu. Also, thank you @tastytatsu for your support *cyber hug* <3
Tumblr media
DAY 1 Prompt: Chocolates/I don’t remember having these many hickeys, but I don’t mind.
Summary: Atsushi is at lost on how to make Muro-chin happy this coming Valentines’ Day until a certain baked good catches his attention.
Word count: 3, 855 words
Rating: T
Atsushi is lost. Why, you ask? It’s because v-day is approaching fast and being in a relationship with the one and only pretty boy, Himuro Tatsuya is enough to make his knees go jello but he is totally lost on how to please him. He may appear to be a monster on the court but he must admit that he is at lost on how to make his Muro-chin happy. After all, he is in his first-ever relationship with a guy, and a pretty one at that (did I say it twice?). He has this gut feeling that once v-day comes, Muro-chin is gonna be swarmed with lots of delectable chocolates that he won’t even notice his. He sighs in defeat as he put his hands on his pockets. He is currently loitering around Yosen’s hallway after class, trying to think of something to do. He knows that Muro-chin doesn’t really like sweets so giving him a chocolate bar or any sweet confectionaries is out of the picture. And now, he is more than reduced to aid in his dilemma.
He has seen his sister make a big fuss about v-day and chocolates for his boyfriend but is it normal for him to make a fuss though? He cringes at the thought. He isn’t a girl to give out chocolates. He is standing at 208 cm for goodness’ sake. But at the same time, he wants to do something for Muro-chin since he knows that the boy loves spoiling and indulging him a lot. He isn’t stupid per se, he just doesn’t want to think about unnecessary things and he is just lazy to exert any effort or energy to every single stuff that doesn’t concern him. And he knows that Muro-chin’s effort means a lot to him so for the first time in his life, he actually wants to do something for the boy. He tries to think of more options. He has seen Sachin’s hand made a scarf for Kuro-chin’s birthday way back when the Kisekis has their meet up. He tries to weigh his option of doing that but actually gives up on the thought knowing that v-day is gonna be in a week and there’s no way in hell he can finish that.
And thus, out of options, he clutches his hair in frustration and just decides to go to the convenience store and grab more snacks. His brain cells are burning him alive and he’d rather eat more snacks than pass out because of damaged brain cells.
Upon arriving at the convenience store, Atsushi wastes no time to grab all his favorites and place them on the basket hanging on his right arm. He passes by the magazine stand and browses from magazine to magazine thinking that it might give him some good ideas until his purple irises catch one particular article.
‘Hm, interesting. It’s a pain to do this but whatever.’
He carefully reads the article and an idea had struck him like thunder. He grabs the magazine and goes straight to the counter to pay for everything. He then proceeds to the nearest grocery store to purchase the stuff that he will need to practice on but not before fishing out his phone to send a text to his older brother. He needs a hand to obtain something that underage kids can’t.
                                                           -x-
February 14th, Friday. The day has finally arrived and Atsushi couldn’t be more excited because he has perfected this particular recipe that catches his attention after several attempts of learning it. He gets a little bit guilty because these past few days, whenever Muro-chin wants to do something together, he has usually declined it for the sole purpose of practicing his baking skills. He doesn’t want to look at the rejected face of his pretty boy because he knows he’s weak and he will just give in to him and in the end, he can’t make any preparations. And thus, he steels his resolve just to this day. After all, he is doing this for the sole purpose of surprising and making Muro-chin happy.
He wakes up really early to prepare for it since it will also be good for breakfast and Atsushi has put into mind that if he’s gonna join the battle called V-day, it might as well attack early. At least he knows that whatever comes after it, it will be pretty bland for Muro-chin compared to what he has to offer. He hates losing after all.
Silently, he tries to tiptoe and moves carefully as possible so he won’t wake Muro-chin who is sleeping peacefully on the other bed. He bends underneath his bed and reaches out for the package that he has received yesterday from his brother. Slowly, he slips off the room and proceeds to the dorm kitchen and starts his work, starting with pre-heating the oven to 165 F.
He is going to do Kaiserschmarrn - an Austrian dessert that is meant to be destroyed into bite-sized pieces but he decides that it should be good for breakfast in bed because it is just actually a pancake with some complicated baking. He gathers his purple locks into a small ponytail first and takes Muro-chin’s light blue apron with a seahorse print, he then proceeds to work. He needs ten eggs, the whites should be separated from the yolks. One by one, he starts breaking and separating it. He puts the egg whites in the fridge since he learns by now after practicing that egg whites are better whipped when cold. He measures the flour and baking powder and dumps all of them in a bowl. He takes the yolks and whisks it and then mixes in the sugar and heavy cream. He goes to his package that his brother has sent him and pulls out a bottle of Contreu (orange liquor) and rum. Thank goodness for his brother who is always been supportive of him that he has his hands on this adult stuff. The recipe only calls for a shot of both liquors but Atsushi decided to put thrice the amount because he just assumes that Muro-chin likes alcohol since he is from America.
After all the wet ingredients are mixed and done, he takes an orange and zests the skin directly to the wet ingredients bowl. The moment he catches a strong whiff of the orange aroma, he stops zesting and just eats the rest of the orange. He folds the dry ingredients to the wet ones and sets it aside afraid that he might overfold it again, he takes out the egg whites adding half teaspoon of sugar one at the time and starts whipping it until it reaches the stiff peak stage. He folds the finished mixture again with the egg whites in three parts while throwing in the rum-soaked raisins in the last part that is once again, from his brother’s package,  as not to over mix it because it will just result to a stiff cake.
When he is finally done with the batter he carefully mixes, he takes out a big nonstick pan, opens the stove and melts the half stick of butter that he has. He pours all the batter in there and waits for the bottom to cook a little bit before putting it in the oven. He sets the timer for 30 minutes. And thus, while waiting for it to bake, he checks his plum jam in the fridge that he has concocted yesterday and tastes it again. Feeling satisfied with the taste, he then pulls out his own milk chocolate bar and meticulously melts the chocolate in a bain-marie and adds a little bit of heavy cream to make a ganache because it will be used for dipping purposes together with the plum jam.
Deciding to kill time while waiting for the Kaiserschmarrn to finish, he cleans the kitchen and washes all the baking utensils that he has used. As he is putting everything away, he hears the timer and sets the oven temperature again to 200 F to get the browning that he desires and sets the timer for another 8 minutes. As the final preparation is coming to an end, he starts to whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks as well as caramelizing the sugar with melted butter for the final touch. And since Muro-chin loves his morning coffee so much, he brews some too.
Finally, after his painful minutes of waiting, Atsushi finally hears the timer and happily pulls out the baked goods all the while filling the kitchen with a delectable smell and starts to rip it into bite-sized pieces and pours the mixture of the caramelized sugar and butter on top of it. He tastes it and he feels proud that he actually pulls this off really well and he actually can taste the rum and the Contreu a little too much but all in all, he can say that it is a success.
Delicately, he arranges it prettily on a circular white plate together with the chocolate ganache and the plum jam in little saucers as he puts the freshly whipped cream on the side diagonally the dips and finishes it with assorted berries for more color appeal. Feeling satisfied with work, Atsushi pours the coffee into Muro-chin’s own mug and sets it on the tray together with the Kaiserschmarrn. He takes a photo of his plating and he makes sure that he gets all his alcohol to put back in his room or else he will get in trouble with his dorm head.
I hope Muro-chin appreciates this because I woke up too early just for this! He silently thinks. But whatever, he feels satisfied by everything.
                                                          -x-
Atsushi carefully opens their room while struggling just because he is also carrying the package underneath the tray. Slowly, he walks going to their center table and puts the tray on top of it then pushes back the box underneath his bed. He looks at his phone and sees that it is already 6:30 in the morning. He opens the blinds to let the morning light seep through their room with the intention of waking Muro-chin up. A few seconds after, the said boy shuffles on his bed and tries to wake up probably not because of the morning light but the sweet scent of the baked goodie, as well as the coffee, is wafting all over their room. He sees Muro-chin trying to stretch underneath his blanket and looks upon him with his exposed eye. He yawns when he greets him with a sweet smile.
‘’Morning, Atsushi. Happy Valentines Day. You’re awake pretty early.”
He forces out a smile as once again, he finds himself drowning on that smile of his. Probably also for a fact that he’s quite nervous about Muro-chin’s reaction whether or not he will like what he has to offer. He is rooted in his position by the window as he is still lost for words. When Muro-chin sits up, that’s when his exposed eye widens, meaning he finally sees what is on the center table. The pretty boy looks at the table then to him and vice versa again. Suddenly, he gets startled when he feels Muro-chin’s weight on him as he attacks him with an embrace. He looks down on him awkwardly as he hears the boy mutters his thanks. Muro-chin lets go of his body as he looks up to him, happiness is obviously oozing out of his face and that makes Atsushi calm.
“You did this for me, Atsushi?”
He blushes as he scratches the back of his head all the while avoiding the pretty boy’s gaze. “Yeah...”
The pretty boy chuckles as he takes his hand and leads him towards their center table and motions him to sit. However, instead of Muro-chin sitting opposite him, he sits on his lap and he’s not at all complaining. He looks at him with hopeful eyes and asks “Can I start digging in? Because the sweet smell is making it hard to resist.”
He nods and says, “It’s for you, Muro-chin. Happy Valentines Day.”
He receives a kiss on his cheek as Muro-chin starts eating. On his first piece, he puts the plum jam and some whipped cream on top. He closes his eyes whilst savoring the taste. When he opens his eyes, he looks at him with a newfound respect for his baking skills.
“This is so good! What is this?”
“Kaiserschmarrn or Emperor’s Mess. It’s an Austrian dessert. Though the chocolate is actually not included in the original recipe, I just added it since it’s Valentines'.”
Atsushi watches, feeling proud and satisfied, as Muro-chin takes bite after bite, alternating between the plum jam and the chocolate ganache as his accompany for his Kaiserschmarrn. He sips his coffee happily too and watching him, it makes Atsushi feel all warm inside knowing that someone actually appreciates his effort because believe it or not, though the pretty boy is not really into sweet stuff, he almost finishes the pancake. He suddenly gets pulled out of his thoughts when he sees Muro-chin lifting up his fork going to his mouth loaded with the pancake and the chocolate ganache almost covering the entirety of it. He happily opens his mouth and waits for the food to reach his cavern since he especially likes it when Muro-chin feeds him. But the next action after the food reaches his mouth startles him.
Muro-chin suddenly attacks his mouth with a kiss. A few seconds of freezing on his spot does nothing because of the fact his pretty boy is enthusiastically kissing him as if there’s no tomorrow with his arms wrapped around his shoulders. Languidly, they let go of each other to gasp some much-needed air and he gazes on Muro-chin’s face, his exposed eye is glassy and he feels like his pupil is dilated and his face is all red. Not the red when he blushes but something else. Atsushi tilts his head in question on his state but he can’t deny that he looks so alluring right now and his little Atsushi can’t help but react.
“M-Muro-chin, are you alright?”
The guy in question just purrs as he bites his lower lip in a very sensual way that Atsushi has never seen before.
“A-Atsushi, I feel funny.”
“W-Why do yo-“, his eyes suddenly widen in recognition as it hits him. Ah, the alcohol. He panics a little as he fusses over the pretty boy and carefully stands up with him on his arms as he gently lays him on his bed. He bends down to plant a kiss on his forehead before he decides that he can get some rest but unfortunately, he is pulled down on top of Muro-chin with his hand supporting his weight as not to crush the fragile boy underneath him.
“Ne, Atsushi...” Muro-chin calls him seductively. “Since it’s Valentines', we can start early...I know a good way to use whipped cream and chocolate.” He mischievously grins at him and Atsushi gulps thickly but not in fear. Hell no. Muro-chin might be smaller than him but he is actually worried about his virtue. When the smaller boy pulls him closer to lean in for a kiss, Atsushi has resigned to his fate.
                                                           -x-
So in the end, they both miss their classes because after they do the dirty deed, Muro-chin actually passes out and Atsushi comes to a conclusion. He has gotten Muro-chin drunk. Should I be worried? It’s not at all surprising because he has added like three shots each of those alcohol plus throws in the fact that the raisins are rum-soaked. He looks at the smaller boy who is sleeping peacefully with a happy expression while clinging into him. He actually wants to get out of his arms and take a shower because he feels really sticky right now. They mess with the chocolate ganache and the whipped cream a little bit too much. He takes his phone on their shared bedside table and types his message for Masako-chin that they will not be attending the morning practice and classes because Muro-chin is not feeling well and that he will look after him. As he hits the send button, he puts his phone back where it belongs. Sighing in defeat, Atsushi just leans into Muro-chin’s hair and smells it for comfort as his lids get heavy.
                                                         -x-
Himuro suddenly jerks awake no thanks to his phone vibrating. His head is pounding as well as his lower back is so sore. While trying to make himself fully awake, he feels a warm body embracing him tightly. He smiles as he runs his free hand on Atsushi’s purple locks. He must admit that this is the best Valentines' Day ever. To think that his big, lazy baby actually bakes something for him is enough to make his heart do somersaults. Atsushi can be overly adorable when he wants to. Cautiously, he tries to remove himself from Atsushi’s clutch and tries to sit up from the bed. He can still feel the constant pounding of his head but tries to ignore it because the continuous vibrating of his phone is annoying him more. Reaching for his phone, he sees that caller id and panics a little because it is Araki-kantoku who is calling him. Composing himself, he tries to answer the call as normal as possible.
“Hello, Araki-kantoku?”
“Himuro!!!!” He automatically moves his phone away from his ear to save himself from getting deaf. He cringes as he can see that the coach is really mad.
“Where the hell are you and Murasakibara?! We’ve been trying to reach you for a while now. He sent me a message earlier that you both are skipping practice and classes. Are you feeling better?”
He whips his head at Atsushi to see that he is already waking up because of all the noise that Araki-kantoku is making. The big baby looks at him with his adorable purple irises as he reaches his hand to his purple locks and pats him.
“Sorry, coach. We are in our dorm room. We fell asleep. I feel a bit better now. We’ll come to practice and school tomorrow.”
“Why is Murasakibara skipping practice and school when he’s not sick?”
Himuro tries to rack his brain with an excuse to save Atsushi from the coach’s wrath. “A-Ah, he has colds...I spread my virus on him. So I told him not to come to school and practice too as not to spread it more.” Fuck Tatsuya, what a lame excuse. He chides himself.
He sighs in relief when he feels that the coach accepts his excuse. “Okay, I’ll double your training when you guys get better. Take care both of you.”
“Thank you.”
He ends the call as he puts back his phone on its initial place and faces Atsushi.
“So,” he starts, “...what did you put in the dessert Atsushi?”
The big baby sinks himself deeper into the blanket and mumbles incoherently.
“I can’t hear you.”
“Rum and orange liquor.”
“Atsushi....” The purple head pokes his head from the blanket so he can finally meet his gaze but Atsushi being himself, he averts his gaze like a child getting caught for something.
“I thought Muro-chin is a strong drinker since you told me before that you drink some of your Dad’s beer back in America. But the recipe actually calls for a shot of each, I just added a bit more.”
Oh. That’s why. He might be from America but he can only handle a beer or two and not strong liquor like rum. He thinks for a bit.
“Wait a minute, how did you even get that alcohol?”
“My big brother helped me. He sent me a package containing that.”
Okay. There’s no way in hell that Atsushi can get his hands on those by himself. He might be too tall for his age but he is still a high schooler. He sighs in defeat. True, it’s not good to miss classes and basketball practice because of something stupid as getting drunk but he can’t find himself getting pissed off at Atsushi, he can never will. He loves his big baby too much. Plus, his effort of making him something out of his comfort zone, it really touches him deeply. Deciding that he’ll let the big baby slide today, he tries to stand up but to his horror, he jerks back to the bed because his lower back is hurting too much. Just how much did Atsushi pound on me for me to feel like this? Sensing his uncomfortable state, Atsushi sits up on the bed and helps him.
“Are you okay, Muro-chin?”
“Ah, yeah. My lower back hurts. Just how much did we do? I don’t really remember much.”
Atsushi smiles lazily at him and says, “Three.”
Himuro gapes at him, “Three times?”
“Uh, yeah. You were insisting to do more.”
He blushes out of embarrassment as he facepalms all the while avoiding looking at Atsushi. He nervously let out a chuckle, “..I..did that..?”
Atsushi looks at him mischievously as he stands up and walks towards their bathroom in all his naked glory. He halts his steps as he looks back at him and utters with his mischievous grin still present on his face, “Yeah. It’s okay Muro-chin, I enjoyed it as well. Do you want to take a shower now? I feel sticky all over. Muro-chin really enjoyed playing with the whipped cream and the chocolate ganache. Don’t you feel sticky too?”
And with that, Himuro is left alone contemplating what his sweet and innocent Atsushi has said. It gives him the shock of his life and reduces his life span for 16 years that he is actually the one who has tainted his big baby unintentionally.
Omake
When it is Himuro’s turn to take a shower, he gets the shock of his life when he looks at the mirror. Hurriedly, he opens the bathroom door only to see the big baby sitting on his bed while eating his maiubo.
“At-Atsushi!!!!”
The big baby looks at him with wonder as he struts in front of him with heavy steps.
“I don’t remember having these many hickeys!”
“Eh? But Muro-chin you said that I should bite you the way I bite on my snac-“, he doesn’t let him finish as he smacks him with next available thing his hand can reach - a pillow.
“Really, Atsushi. You are really unbelievable.”
“Eh? Why me? It should be you.”
He clicks his tongue in annoyance but leans on Atsushi and gives him a sweet kiss. “But I don’t mind. It’s the best Valentines' Day ever. You made me happy. I love you, Atsushi.”
The big baby gives him a genuine smile and said, “Love you too, Muro-chin. I win though.”
“Win?”
“I get to keep you all by myself for today unlike last year, girls were flocking all over you.”
He just chuckles at his boyfriend’s childishness. Really, there is never a dull moment when your other half is one Murasakibara Atsushi.
NOTES: Kaiserschmarrn is a traditional Austrian dessert. The one in this story is the traditional recipe based on what my co-chef from Austria has taught me. It usually comes with a plum jam minus the chocolate ganache. I just included it here since the prompt is chocolate. And yeah, knowing that this recipe is full of alcohol, I just decided to use this with a poor attempt on humor. *don’t kill me please*
Thanks for reading! <3
Also, you can read it now on Ao3

I just finished jaywalkers and I am just filled with FEELINGS. Thank you for writing the series and giving happiness to so many people!! Now I’m just curious, does Kei ever ask Kuroo to sing him Kiss Me since Kuroo found out he witnessed the moment? Do any of them (or you) have a favourite page/moment in Bokuto’s final project? :3 You also included a teensy tiny bit of Aokise which is one of my favourite ships as well!! Any headcannons about that duo? Hehe
for your questions:
tsukki wants to preserve the heart-rending magic of the moment he first saw kuroo singing kiss me, so he never asks kuroo to do it again. in a way, that song was never meant for him to actually hear, and he respects that.
as for bokuto’s project, i don’t think i have a favourite page in particular, but every moment where they’re surrounded by friends - i love those. you know how in one of those fics, i think the one where it’s bokuto’s birthday, early on in the series - i described this moment where they’re all sitting out on the grass and kuroo and himuro are playing their guitars and suga’s guiding bokuto to dance and oikawa’s filming it all...that ends up in the final project, i think i even mention it. i think that has to be my favourite. i can see it so well. i’ve lived that moment before. there’s just - not a lot in this world that’s more beautiful.
and!!! AOKISE. god you should’ve been here in 2012/2013. i was fucking obsessed with them. it was a whole thing. they’re still in my top ships of ALL TIME. (with shizaya, erejean, midotaka and kurotsukki) that being said, i didn’t really think a lot beyond their cameo in jaywalkers, but rest assured that they are living their best lives, despite aomine’s john cena alarm.

Midorima x Takao - The Wondrous Adventures of Misfortune 3
Answers or More Questions?
“See, I told you it wouldn't be that hard!” Takao smirked at Midorima as he slowly pulled the car into the driveway in front of them. “You nearly killed 3 people and almost crashed into another car.” Midorima was glaring at Takao and was secretly glad the terrible ride was over. He had been horrified the entire time. He was convinced he was going to die because of his guardian. However, Takao had been smiling and completely oblivious to the horror he was causing. “They shouldn't have been in the way then.” The black-haired male shrugged as he put the car in park. “You... That's not... I will be driving home. You will not ever drive a car again.” “Awe! Come on Shin, don't be so mean. It was fun!” “Be silent.” Both males then got out of the car, one of them pouting, and began to walk to the large home in front of them. It looked quite expensive, like someone famous or very important lived there. It truly looked more like a mansion than a house. “Whose home is this?” “You'll see,” Takao smirked once more and began to pull Midorima along with him. The green-haired male was unsure about the situation but allowed himself to be guided by the male. “This better not get me killed.” “You worry too much.” “You don't worry enough.” Ignoring Midorima, Takao knocked on the door. A few moments went by before footsteps could be heard approaching the door. The large wooden door in front of them then opened, revealing a familiar face to Midorima. “Midorima?” “Kasamatsu?” The two former co-workers stared at each other in disbelief. The shorter one hadn't seen or heard from the other since Midorima was fired and stopped answering his phone. “Hey there Kazu!” A yellow-haired male quickly jogged to the door. He had a huge smile on his face. “Ryouta! It's been so long!” The black-haired male hugged the blond, ignoring the two confused men. “Kise, what is going on?” Kasamatsu demanded, confused about the situation. “Well, I told you that old friends were coming for a special event.” “I thought you meant that the others I've already met were coming over.” “Takao! What is going on?” Midorima pulled his black-haired companion to him to explain the situation. He was more irritated than confused. “Why don't you two come in, then we'll explain.” The yellow-haired male motioned for the others to follow him and then walked away. Midorima and Takao were led to a large living room with an equally large, pure white sectional sofa. “Do either of you want anything to drink? The others will be here soon.” “Water please.” Takao responded, just as Midorima said, “No.” “So, water for both.” With that, Kise left the room and headed to the kitchen, Takao decided to follow him to begin the catching up with his old friend. “Others?” “Kise invited a few of our other friends as well. They'll be important people you're going to meet.” Kasamatsu calmly explained. With how calm the male was now, he was clearly used to Kise causing sudden surprises. “What exactly is going on?” “Kise Ryouta, that loud blond, is my guardian angel. He doesn't really seem like an angel, but he is.” Kasamatsu explained simply. He then looked towards the kitchen where both the guardians were and began to speak again. “That guy is your guardian, so I hear.” “Guardian demon to be exact.” “I see. Well, you'll be meeting others as well. Oh, I also heard you know about the band Takao is in. Kise is a part of it as well.” “I think I expected you to say that. He seems like the type who enjoys being in the spotlight.” Kasamatsu chuckled at Midorima's comment. However, once the green-haired male opened his mouth to speak, the humor faded. “What is your relationship with Kise?” “Uh...” “Shin here!” Takao and Kise's sudden reappearance halted any responses. Takao handed the cup of water to his green-haired companion and then sat next to him. “What were you two talking about?” The yellow-haired male inquired curiously. “I told him about you and how you're in the band with Kazu.” “Did you tell him we're lovers?” “No!” Kasamatsu couldn't help it as his face began to turn red from embarrassment. “He had not gotten to that quite yet,” Midorima responded as he took a drink of the water he was given. “Oh, you're not bothered by that, right?” Kise wasn't too concerned, but he wasn't going to be happy if his best friend (Takao) was protecting someone close-minded. “Why would I be bothered by that? Whatever you do in private is none of my concern. I'll only be annoyed if you become too sappy in front of me. However, that stands for any couple.” He looked annoyed already as he responded, but it was a good enough answer. “Besides, I already knew Kasamatsu was gay.” “Wait what?!” The shorter black-haired male chocked on his water, causing the blond to worry and move closer to him. “I caught you making out with someone 3 years ago after that birthday party you forced me to attend.” “Kise! You told me you were sure no one saw us!” “Oops?” Kise received a smack for his comment. The two lovers began to bicker as Takao chuckled. “They are so in love, aren't they Shin?” Takao leaned against Midorima much to his annoyance. “That is love? Seems quite dysfunctional.” This caused the black-haired demon to burst out into laughter. “And what are you laughing about?” Kasamatsu's anger was put towards Takao, causing him to go silent instantly. Just then a knock at the door rang out in the large home. “That must be the others!” Kise quickly fled to the door, which was out of sight. A minute of incoherent chatter later and the male reappeared with a group following behind him. “That's a lot of people,” Midorima muttered to himself. Takao made a squealing noise before pouncing on the group. A lot of cheerful greetings were heard before Takao finally turned back to the green-haired male. “So, everyone this is my human, Midorima Shintarou.” The demon spoke loudly for all of them to heard. “Shin this is...” He took a step away to allow the group to begin introducing themselves. “I'm Momoi Satsuki.” The only female of the group announced. Her voice and personality were as bright as her pink hair. “I'm a guardian angel and a member of the band Ki and Kazu are in. It's been a few months since we've last all met up though.” “I'm Aomine Daiki, a guardian demon.” The blue-haired male said next from the pink-haired female's side. “This is Kagami Taiga, my guardian angel lover.” He was referring to the redhead who was just as tall as he was that was standing next to him. “I'm Dai's guardian and he's in the band too!” The female noted happily. “A demon gets a guardian?” Midorima was confused but the next person began to speak. He was a huge male with purple hair. “My name is Murasakibara Atsushi. I'm a human and work as a pastry maker.” “I'm his guardian angel, Himuro Tatsuya. I'm the final member of the band.” The black-haired male next to the purple giant spoke up. He had only one eye visible with a mole under it. “Hello Shintarou, it's been a while.” A shorter red-haired male began to talk next. His voice caused chills to run down Midorima's spine. The being was someone he'd met only once, but left an impression on him, and not a good one. “You remember me, correct? I'm Akashi Seijurou. I'm a demon and I guard no one.” “Of course you don't...” Midorima scowled at the red-haired male. “Is that the last one?” “I haven't gone yet.” The sudden voice caused the green-haired male to jolt slightly. He looked towards an even shorter male with light blue hair. “I'm Kuroko Tetsuya. I'm a human and work as a preschool teacher.” “So, now that the introductions are done, everyone find a seat.” Kise declared before returning to his place next to Kasamatsu. Takao also returned to his place, which was right next to his human and in the green-haired male's opinion, uncomfortably close for Midorima's tastes. Even so, Midorima made no move to shove the demon away from him. “So, how long have you known about the demon and angel stuff?” Momoi excitedly asked the green-haired male. “Today only a few hours ago.” “Oh wow. Kazu didn't you think you should have waited to introduce all of us to him? What if he gets overwhelmed?” Kise muttered horrified by his best friend's actions. “No way! Shin is no delicate flower. He can handle all the sudden changes, can't you?” Takao turned to the human next to him. Midorima only glared at him in return. “He looks more pissed off than anything,” Aomine noted from his place between Kagami and the only female. “That's his usual face. Then again, I'm not sure if he can feel anything other than anger.” Kasamatsu commented simply. “I am capable of feeling every emotion anyone else can feel. I just choose not to.” Midorima's statement caused quite a few people to chuckle. He wasn't sure if he was alright with it or not, but he decided to let it go. “So, what else did Kazu tell you? Anything about your original guardian?” It was the female once again asking the question. Midorima took a moment to think about his conversations with his demon before answering. He'd been so overwhelmed at that time so he never got a good chance to go over all Takao had told him. “He informed me that my original guardian was a coward who was more interested in herself than protecting me. Along with something about breaking a law.” The green-haired male recalled. It had only been a few hours ago, but it felt like days since then. “I see. Kazu, why didn't you tell him the whole story?” At the female's question, Takao looked down at his feet. “You must have been embarrassed.” “Yeah, since you seriously had to fight her to become his guardian,” Aomine spoke next, chuckling as he did so. “What do you mean?” Midorima was now confused once again. “Who wants to explain? It's too much work for me.” The blue-haired male was scolded for being so lazy by the red-haired male next to him. “I can explain unless Kazu wants to?” Momoi was clearly eager to keep talking and Takao had no interest in speaking at that moment, due to his embarrassment. “Satsuki, just tell the man the story.” “I was about to Dai, so shut it!” She glared at her companion before looking to Midorima. “Your previous guardian was an angel named Hiretsuna. As beautiful and kind as she acted, anyone who knew her was well aware how bad she was. She had someone else to guard before you were born, and she neglected them so much they ended up dying far too early then they were supposed to.” “She also tricked other angels, causing them to get into trouble. Some even were exiled due to her actions.” Himuro explained as he shook his head in disbelief. “When she became your guardian, she decided to toy with your life any chance she got. She'd cause certain things to happen or stop others. She saw you as a game.” “It was only after she caused you to meet a demon like me, that Kazunari decided to get involved.” It was now Akashi speaking, however, it was less unsettling now. “Yeah, as Aomine said before, Kazu had to fight her. She was trying to mess with your life in terrible ways. She even allowed you to go to that shrine when she knew it was cursed. The only reason Kazu didn't stop it was she locked him up.” Kise exclaimed, infuriated at the memory. “He was watching over you in secret for many years without permission so once she found out, she lashed out at him.” The female, who was annoyed with the others for telling parts of the story, regained control and was speaking again. “Kazu was locked in a demon sealing cage. He was finally able to be set free by his own power alone. When he saw you were about to die he was able to break out.” “When she says many years of watching you, she means it!” Aomine laughed out, only to be hit with a pillow thrown by Takao. “Stop that! The story is over, Shin has heard enough!” He was trying to hide it, but he was clearly extremely embarrassed. “Just how long?” Midorima was honestly curious now. He only got Takao panicky telling the others to remain silent. He'd gotten so worked up that he ended up out of his seat. “We met when you were in the middle school, so since then.” Saying that was the only one who wouldn't be silenced by anyone, Akashi. “That's a very long time...” “Shin, don't listen to him! He's-” Takao was stopped by Akashi slowly looking over at him. The black-haired demon sighed before sitting back down in his seat. “He's right. It has been that long.” “Interesting...” The green-haired male's comment concerned Takao, but he quickly forgot. Once the serious conversation was over, the whole group began chatting. They told stories about the old days but focused their stories about Takao and his life. The band members spent time discussing reuniting the band and starting it up again. As it began to get later in the night, the group exchanged numbers and Midorima willingly participated. He hadn't been too sure of the whole thing at first, but he wasn't completely against the group. He wouldn't say be made friends, just close acquaintances. Either way, Takao was overjoyed with how well his human got along with his friends. With how Midorima can be, he wasn't sure how cooperative the male could be. “It was great seeing you all again! We need to meet up more!” Takao called back to everyone as he and Midorima were leaving Kasamatsu and Kise's home. “It was nice to meet you Mido!” Momoi called out causing the male to scowl at the nickname. He ignored the others and headed right to the driver's side. Takao lingered behind, but eventually caught up and entered the passenger side door. “This turned out to be a great day, huh Shin.” “I suppose it could have been gone worse.” The response caused Takao to light up. It was probably the best response he'd ever get, so he was thrilled. The way back to Midorima's home was peacefully quiet. Takao knew he'd put Midorima through so much that day, so he wanted to be kind and stay silent for a little bit. The green-haired male said nothing but was grateful for the male's silence. Even though he spoke no words, Takao knew his feelings and couldn't help smiling to himself.

I love your marriage proposal headcanons! Thank you so much for answering my request. Can you do them this time for Aomine, Kise, Murasakibara, Himuro and Mayuzumi?
Hi dear! Aw, I’m so happy you liked them! *-* I hope you’ll like these the same! Let me know!
Have a nice day!
Aomine Daiki, Kise Ryouta, Murasakibara Atsushi, Himuro Tatsuya, Mayuzumi Chihiro Wedding Proposal Headcanons
Aomine Daiki
-I imagine Aomine being totally lost about it. He really, really want to propose…but something stops him every time and he gets more and more irritated. Once it’s his cowardice, another time your annoying friends, than he doubts himself… He just can’t imagine answering yes. And he hates it. He hates feeling not at his best, feeling as he’s going to lose. So, he decides he’s going to ask it when he really his as his top.
-He waits for the last match of the international basketball tournament of the year. He had asked the coach to let you sit on the benches during the match so that it’s going to be easy for him to reach you. Everyone says it’s the best match Aomine has ever played: he’s the king of the court, a wild animal without leashes, unstoppable. The number one. Every time he scores he grins widely. He crushes his adversaries, even if they we’re a powerful team. Because this time he can’t afford to lose. Not tonight. He has a bet with himself.
-When, finally, they are celebrating on the podium and the presenter had put around his neck the golden medal, he jumps down from his place and walks right to you, who are already enthusiastic about the victory and jumping around excitedly. All the eyes of the entire gym and the cameras are on you two, but Aomine sees only you. A smirk on his lips, face still flushed and eyes glimmering.
-He stops in front of you and takes off the medal to put it around your neck.“This is probably going to be the best day of my life,” he grins as you watch him speechless. He then takes off the chain necklace you’ve bought him for his birthday. But, hanging from it, there a shining silver ring with a sapphire.“But only if you say yes, babe,” He kneels and stretches it to you, as you cover your mouth.“A-Are you serious?” You mutter and tears roll down your cheeks.“Hell yes,” he scoffs blushing, “And please answer, don’t make it even more embarrassing.”You literally jump into his arms, without words to answer properly but “Yes. Yes! Yes!”
Kise Ryouta-Kise devises different plans for week. He wants it to be special, but doesn’t want reporters or fangirls ruining the moment. So, what to do?Simple, he kidnaps you.
-I mean, being a famous pilot brings some privileges no? He rent a small plane just for the two of you and one day, without warning you, instead of dropping you at your best friend’s house, he just puts you on it with two suitcases and a smirk on his face.
-He makes you sit beside him as he maneuvers, with a glass of champagne in your hand. You try to make him talk and ask for reasons, but he evades them and keeps his mouth sealed, chatting instead.
-He brings you in a natural paradise on top of the world, far from the cities and immersed in the starry skies. Looking around, on the peak of a mountain or a hill, you don’t know, you can see only stars and stars. Just the two of you for once. No public, no fangirls, no photographers and reporters. Just you and Kise.He shows it to you with pride as soon as you step out, in awe. He had planned to ask it after a romantic dinner outside (picnic gourmet) and while whispering to each other but…he’s too enthusiastic. Excited.Imagine him laughing openly as he spins with his arms open, shining blond hair against the night.“SO!” he calls laughing at himself and at the world, “I swear I planned it properly, but if I wait a second more I could explode!” He takes your hands into his and drags you away from the plane and almost into the sky. You’re without words, a giddy chuckle escapes your lips as his happiness is rubbing off on you.“This is beautiful!” you whisper and he beams pointing up.“Do you see the stars?” You nod tilting your head and he smiles as a child.“They’re my love for you!” he pronounces easily and heartfeltly, but your heart misses a beat. And, before you can recover from it, he kneels and offers you an open velvet box.A silver ring with a topaz shines in it.“Please, be my star forever.” His hands are trembling even if he’s faking to be calm and smooth but…his golden eyes are so fond, so warm as he watches you as the most precious of the treasures.Crying, you throw yourself at him and hug your boyfriend tightly. He picks and spins you around, repeating against your ear, “I’m so happy, so happy…”
-You spend the next three days in a luxurious onsen near where you’ve landed.
Murasakibara Atsushi-In a domestic, sweet and comfy way. It’s just that for you it’s like being already married, you already live like that so…Murasakibara realizes you’re not only when one of his friend tells him he’s going to marry.
-It’s a normal evening. You two are eating at the table what he has cooked and you are chatting happily about the day, as he nods, listening even if he seems not to. You think it’s going to be a normal night: you’ll wash the plates and he’ll dry them, putting them away since he’s taller. Maybe then some cuddles on the couch, laughing and munching sweets. In the end, sleeping curled in Murasakibara’s arms. But then Murasakibara starts a new conversation out of nowhere and changes the rest of your lives in few seconds.
“We’re like married, aren’t we?” He’s stopped eating and his words sound casual, as he looks up from his plate and meets your gaze. You nearly choke on your food and cough, embarrassed by the sudden change of topic.“I-I think so…” You stutter, not daring to lower your gaze but already feeling your cheeks getting redder.“But we aren’t,” He adds calmly. A sting to your heart, but you manage to keep your smile.“Yeah…”“Then let’s make it official.” And suddenly Murasakibara is stretching to you a small, open box. In the middle you can see a golden ring with three amethyst.“W-what…?”“Marry me, SO.”You blinked at him completely lost, fear and happiness swirling in your mind.“How-Why-I-”“It’s already like we’re married no? I just want to make this official,” he shrugs, “So that I’m sure you’re going to be with me forever.”Maybe is seeing his red cheeks or the way his hand is slightly trembling, but everything clicks and you start crying. Stumbling you leave your seat and hug him tightly, as Murasakibara pulls you in his laps and buries his face in the crook of your neck.“Yeah, let’s make it official. Our forever.”
Himuro  Tatsuya-He’s the mysterious and cool guy who likes to tease, that’s how I see him in a relationship. So, a simple thing but meaningful for you. Unexpected.
-He just picks you from work one evening and instead of bringing you home, he drives till your old high school. You are confused, but as always he just smirks and teases you without revealing his intentions.“How do you even have the keys?”“I have my ways, don’t worry.”“I don’t think this is legal you know?”“Maybe it isn’t..”You want to pout but his chuckle is too cute and endearing to do it for real. And you’re also starting to feel a bit excited and fidgety; especially because you’ve seen how he’s playing with the car keys or how he draws circles with his thumb on the back of your hand, as he guides you through the corridors.
-Finally, you arrive to your old classroom. The one you shared in your third year. He opens the door and you gasp in surprise. Inside, two small desk have been set for dinner, glowing candles scattered around the classroom giving a special atmosphere.“Do you remember?” You nearly jump for the surprise as he leans to whisper in your ear, cold breath lingering on your skin.“W-what?”He chuckles and gently guides you inside.“Here you took the courage and confessed to me,” He recalls with a soft smile, “We’d been dancing around each other for months…but you were the one who confessed first in the end. Stuttering and blushing…but so brave.”You blush even now, slowly understanding where this is going. He lets your hand go and you stop walking. Himuro reaches the table and takes something, before turning to face you again.“So, I thought it was my turn this time.” He’s smiling so wide as you’ve never seen. Your eyes fill with tears even before he kneels and offers to you the open box.“I’m Himuro Tatsuya, currently a teacher. I’m sorry if I called you here tonight, but I love you,” he mimicked the confession of years ago, “Would you marry me, SO?”You nod with conviction, trying not to sob too hard; giggles get mixed with your tears.“I-I’d love to.” Himuro beams as he takes your hand and slips on the finger the weaved silver ring.“Please take care of me, my wife.”
Mayuzumi Chihiro-It’s a real torture for him. I mean, going out of his way to be tender and sweet to marry you? Come on, you know him, he knows he’s going to sound fake to you if he tries. He also knows that you’re able to put up with his personality so…how to ask it without being cheesy or pathetic? All those tutorials and videos have been useless and he’s getting more and more frustrated. Why is it so difficult?
-In the end, he swallows his pride and asks Akashi how to propose. His former captain laughs amused and tells him, “Why not doing it as you always do? Silent, concise but demanding? If she had already put up with you until now, she’s not going to run away.” And he hits the mark: maybe, just maybe, Mayuzumi is a bit scared of being rejected and that’s why at first he’d thought to do something extra sweet.
-In the end, he just can’t take it anymore. He brings you out for dinner in a nice and quiet place you both enjoy. While walking to the restaurant you notice he’s being more annoyed and snappy than usual, but you don’t ask anything…especially because you can see him glancing at you when he thinks you’re not looking. A bit worried, a bit uneased and with bags under his eyes.Knowing him, you’re going to know soon.
-During dinner, he tries his best to be his usual calm and quiet self, but it’s vain. He’s so clumsy you can’t believe to your eyes. When he accidentally elbow a passing waiter and nearly makes him spill a plate of soup, you can’t restrain your laughter anymore.“Oh Chihiro,” you chuckle amused, “What’s wrong?” you ask him giddy. It’s so funny to see him like this for once. It’s your warm and honest smile that breaks him.“I was trying to propose but I’m only messing up,” he pouts averting his eyes. You stop breathing. What?Mayuzumi doesn’t notice and continues explaining, totally caught in his frustration, “I’ve been trying to propose for more than a month but everything seemed stupid. Or pathetic. How people propose anyway?” he grumbled, ruffling his head.
“P-propose?” you whisper with wide eyes. And he freezes.Mayuzumi finally looks at you, realizing what’s going on, and gulps. Slowly, to save the rest of the night, he slip out of his pocket a gray velvet box and opens it in front of you.“So, would you marry me?” He nervously asks as you shift your gaze on the silver ring with a small diamond, “Even if this is the most horrible proposal ever made. I’m sorry if I wasted all those years reading novels and then I ended up doing…this.”You laugh. You laugh warm and giddy, crystal tears on your cheeks.“Yes Chihiro! Yes!”He sighs in relief and quickly grab your hand to put on your finger the ring, before you could change idea.“Did you really thought I’d reject you?” you giggle, weaving together your fingers. He blushes hard before turning his head away.“Absolutely no.”“Liar.”

hi um could you write a GOM + Kagami, Takao and Himuro where it their S/O birthday.
Actually I said 7 persons per ask but it’s okey since I don’t have much requests I really hope you like it
Birthday for gf (GOM+himuro+Kagami+Takao) :
 Kagami:
You’ll get confused and thinks that he’s cheating on you because he doesn’twant you to get in his house no matter what.
“I hate youKagami” is all what you said before leaving
Later on he’lltext you and tell you to come so he can explain everything to you , you want torefuse but your curiosity takes you there: “the lights are off, where is he? Isit a joke”
“I’m comingin Kagami”
And justwhen you opened the door, you heard some people shouting “Surprise”, “Happybirthday”
There wasall the Seirin members there. Kagami approached you, he was blushing  mess, he said nervously “Happy birthday, yourgift is somewhere in the apartment I couldn’t catch it”
“Heiin,what do you mean Kagami?”
Before hecould replay, you saw a tiny kitten running in the apartment and it looksexactly like your cat who passed away 3 months ago.
You turnedto kagami, tears rolling down on your face and you kissed him.
“Thank youso much, this is the best gift ever”
Kagami wasas red as a tomato: “Name, don’t kiss me in front of them, just when we’realone”
Takao:
You’ll be upset because you think he forgotabout your birthday, he was just joking around and laughing but just afterschool:
“Takao where are we going?”,
“Shuutjust follow me” he said with a smile you followed him until he stopped”
“It’s here”your eyes opened in surprise, it was concert of your favorite band, you huggedhim but then stopped
“HéwaitTakao! the tickets were sold a month ago and just in two days “
“YeahI know”
You smiled “itmeans that you prepared this long time ago, it makes me so ….”
He interruptedyou: “Shut happy birthday” then he kissed you, “let’s go now”,
Aomine:
“Hé(Name) let’s grab a drink on our way home”
“Ok Aominekun” You were a little bit sad because he forgot your birthday but it was ok,you already knew his attitude. You were both sitting on the park with your boyfriend, drinking your fruit juice when he took out something from his school bag.
“What’sthis Aomine?” You asked in confusion.
He mumbled:“Happy birthday”
You weren’tsure if you heard him right or not : “Wait can you please repeat?”
“ (Name)let’s go home now it’s late” He was already walking away
You openedthe gift he gave you:
“WaaaaawAomine new dance shoes, I can’t believe it”
You hurriedup to catch him and when you did he just said:
“It’s foryour next competition, you better make me proud of you  and win it”
“Of course I’llmake my cute boyfriend proud”
He raisedan eyebrow and added: “Who is cute? And no words about this not even toSatsuki, understood?”
“Yes Boss”you laughed
“Good” hetook your hand and you both headed home.
Akashi:
Just Afterschool:
“Sei chan what are we doing at theairport?”,
“Happybirthday”
“Yeah iknow that it’s my birthday Sei chan but still what are we doing in an airport?
“Didn’tyou say that you loved Greek philosophy and wanted to visit Greece?”
“Yes I didbut you know i need my passport and all
“It’s fine,I took care of everything”
“And I still need a parental agreement»
“I alreadysaid it’s fine"
“But wait Ineed clothes and.. “
“Let’s go!”He said as he took your hand and you both headed to take your flight.
(Pfff  if he said it’s fine then it’s fine stoparguing and just enjoy your trip with the boyfriend god blessed you with it’sAkashi after all he probably thought about everything”
Murasakiba:
"Atsushi,what’s in this big bag?”
“nothing (Namechin)
He was carrying this big bag all day atschool, everybody was staring at him but didn’t dare to say anything about it.
Afterschool when you both go to the usual place where you’re used to set and eatsnacks together, he finally decided to open his big bag:
“Atsushi,omg! What’s this?”
“Happybirthday (Name chin), I bought this cake for you”
You couldn’tfeel happier than this because your boyfriend doesn’t put an effort in almostanything but he baked a cake for your birthday. You were lost in your thoughtswhen he said:
“But (Namechin) I’ll take half the cake or even more, is it ok?
“Hahaof course, just the fact that you did it made my day, Thank you my purple giant”
Kise:
You wereworried when you blonde boyfriend didn’t come to school this day. You calledhim up but he didn’t pick so you decided to visit him after school.
Afterschool, you found a letter in your locker then you opened it:
“(Name chi)Meet me at the beach after school and don’t be late, your beautiful boyfriend”
“Aaah thisidiot, it’s my birthday and instead of spending the day with me, he’s havingfun in the beach, I’ll make sure to kick his ass”
When yougot there, tears were all over your face because never and not even once inyour life somebody did this for you:
Kisebrought a big board in which he did a collage of your most precious moment’simages, it was the most beautiful sight you’ve ever seen. You hated the factthat your boyfriend takes so much pictures of you two, but who knew that thathabit that you hated the most would be the best surprise ever done to you?
“(Name chi)did you like it?”
“Kise you’rean idiot, I love you” You had some tears in your eyes
“Wait,(Name chi) if you’re going to cry than wait until I’m done”
You lookedat him as he took out a piece of paper and said:
“When evenwords can’t describe the way I feel
I know thatthis time it’s real
Theemotions now overwhelm me
Me, who wasalways carefree
It’s allbecause of you
And there’snothing I can do
So my lovehappy birthday
Meeting youwas like a miracle day
I love you”
You rushedto hug him, hug this human who was able to make you feel so special.
“Kise Ilove you too, I didn’t know that you were good at sweet talks” You laughed
“Moriyamahelped me a little bit”
You sighed,: “Haha no surprise that was coming from him”
Himuro:
Youwere at school, your boyfriend was avoiding you all day and you wondered why.You were afraid that someone else is turning around him, you tried to talk tohim so many times but he was always finding an excuse out and leave.
Afterschool when you already gave up and decided to go home, he approached you:
“(Namechan) are you going home? It’s pretty early?”
“NoTatsuya, it’s time I go”
“Mmmm Isee, can I ask you a favor?”
“What isit?” You said as you were hiding you smile, you felt so happy, you knew that it’syour birthday so you thought that he will ditch practice and take you out fordinner but:
“I want youto wait for me in the school library until I finish the club practice so we cango home together”
This guyjust broke you down and destroyed all your dreams and just in one second.
“O’keeey”You mumbled and he just forced a smile
You wantedto shout at him, slap him but you were afraid that he’ll just ask someone elseout especially that all girls are falling for him.
7pm, youwere reading a fantasy book when he approached you:
“Are youdone practicing Tatsuya?”
“I wasn’tpracticing”
“Haah, thenwhat were you doing?”
“Come on, I’llshow you” he grabbed your hand and made you follow him
You were infront of the rooftop, he opened the door for you:
“Go ahead”,
“Mmmm ok”
You enteredand the view left you startled, covering your mouth by your hand. You felt likeyou were in some romantic movie scene:
He preparedyou the most romantic dinner ever done, the roof was all covered in candlesexcept a red carpet that he put so you both can go to your table dinner. Youswore than nobody could make you heart beats this fast except this charmingguy.
“Tatsuya, I’mreally happy with this but I still need one more last gift”
“Haha, Iwent in all kind of troubles to do this but I see that it wasn’t enough, I’msorry”
“No Tatsuyano no wait, I’m so happy and it’s more than enough but lately I’ve been feelingso insecure that you would leave me for someone else so I want to ask for yourheart as a gift”
He burstout laughing.
“WhatTatsuya, there’s nothing funny here”
He walkedin your direction, put your hand in his heart and said:
“Nobody canmake this heart beats as fast as this and do you know why? That’s because it alreadybelongs to you”
You huggedhim and kept listen to his heart until pulled you away:
“Let’s eator it will get cold”
“Aaah I’msorry I’m really sorry, thanks for the Meal Tatsuya”
Midorima:
Yourboyfriend was acting weirder than other days, he brought you your lucky item asusual but he also brought you some luck booster, it was really awkward.
“Shin chanhow can I walk with a knife?”
“You canhide it somewhere if you want”
You sighed, you loved your boyfriend but sometimes he could act weirdly but anyway youloved him.
Afterschool, you noticed that Takao wasn’t with your boyfriend so you asked why andhe ignored your question.
“Shin chan,my house in the other way, where are you going?”
“There’s ashort way off to your house, come on this way”
“Shin chan,I don’t see why would I take, I enjoy every moment with you”
“(Name chan)Come on”
Youfollowed him but the road seemed so long but you didn’t want to complain.
He stoppedat a traditional fancy restaurant, he entered and you followed him.
“Oh my godShin chan what a surprise!”
“Let’sorder” he was blushing so hard
During thewhole meal, he was blushing so you just ate in silence and after you took yourdessert. The waiter came and brought a bag in his hand that he put one thetable.
“It’s foryou, open it” He mumbled
“It’s forme?”
You openedthe box that was in the bag and found a beautiful traditional Yukata.
“Waaawamazing Shin chan, you bought it for me”
“Wear itwhen we’ll go the festival and it’s not like I want to go the festival Nanodayo”
You werelaughing so hard and happy because he celebrated your birthday and invited youto the festival, what a shy and cute boyfriend you have.

Can I have murahimu for the otp questions please? :)
Anonymous said to loose-leaf-teacanons:Would you possibly be willing to do MuraHimu? I love them so much.
1. Who liked the other first?
Mukkun, and it irks him like you wouldn’t believe. Not that he realizes what’s happening at first. He pays about as much attention to puberty and dating and crushes as he does to everything not related to his immediate interests (those being snacks, sleeping, and sometimes, maybe, very, very occasionally and just a tiny little bit, basketball), which is to say “not much”, which is to say “none at all.”
Not to mention most of the early signs register as nothing more than a profound sense of annoyance at, well, everything. Stupid Murochin being all nice to strangers when it’s obviously Atsushi’s Murochin Time. Stupid Murochin making him care about basketball. Stupid Murochin sending him snacks from America that start doing weird things to Atsushi’s insides before they’re even out of the box. Stupid Murochin making it hard to sleep when he’s around. Stupid Murochin making it hard to sleep when he isn’t around. Stupid Murochin making him want to try harder at everything.
And it just gets worse in third year because by then stupid Murochin has graduated, and stupid Murochin’s stupid dorm is now occupied by someone else, and they’re extra stupid, and Atsushi is stupid for forgetting that sometimes and ending up there when he’s not paying attention, and stupid Murochin is no longer captain, and the new captain is super-stupid, and nobody else on the team is stupid Murochin, and that’s stupid too, and he gets stupid happy whenever stupid Murochin calls, which is also stupid, and Murochin is even more stupid for not calling more often and making Atsushi think stupid things like he’s maybe being forgotten, and urgh. Everything sucks.
I don’t even know how he’d finally figure it out without some friendly intervention because Murasakibara is so prone to wrapping himself up in sulkiness and not really thinking about why he feels what he feels, and he sucks at being honest about it, too…
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if his eventual confession (urged by Kuroko’s sage-voiced “But how is Himuro-san supposed to know all that when you don’t tell him, Murasakibara-kun?”) were just a long complain-y rant about how stupid and annoying Murochin is for being so far away, and how stupid and annoying it is to not see him, etc etc thank god Himuro is fluent in grumpy manchild speak because lord knows everyone else would be offended that they’re being propositioned like this. XD
2. Where is their ‘special spot’?
Whichever candy store is the closest? XD
(“That’s not what they mean by special spot, Atsushi,” says Himuro, which just gets him a blank look because isn’t the math obvious? He likes snacks, he likes Murochin, they’re currently in a location where he can have both… and Himuro just sighs fondly because this is clearly the height of romantic utterances.)
3. How do they cheer one another up?
Tbh that’s actually pretty difficult because, like I said, one of them is exceptionally bad with feelings in general and the other is bad with negative feelings pertaining to himself.
Himuro is a pretty good listener overall and likes being able to provide comfort and advice to others, but Murasakibara is such  a prickly personality that it’s often for the best to just leave him be until he comes out to seek comfort of his own accord (which mostly involves flopping into Himuro and curling up to continue being a ball of anger/upset until Himuro picks his way through a bunch of leading questions (”Do you want a hug?” – “No.” – “Do you… not want a hug?” – “No.” etc etc.) to get him to relax.
As for Murasakibara, he… well. He tries? But Himuro is a very difficult person to comfort even for someone with a specialized empathy toolset because Himuro bottles things up a lot and has even more that he doesn’t want to admit to anyone, not even to himself. And when he’s at the point where he’s showing how upset he is about something, it’s because he either wants someone to notice (rare) or because he can’t hold it in anymore (more likely).
And Mukkun is not the best at relating to other people or disentangling complicated motivations. So mostly what happens is he either tends to lean into Himuro until Himuro collapses under the added weight of 2 meters of human, which results in an awkward not!cuddle where Murasakibara sort of puts his chin on Himuro’s head and makes discontented noises until stupid Murochin relaxes, already. And then he goes around for a couple of days eyeing Himuro like a hawk and thrusting Himuro’s favorite snacks in his face (or later, making desserts for him) and somehow that works because Himuro is fluent in odd-duck comfort speak, too. XD
4. What is their favourite movie to watch together?
Himuro is pretty easy-going when it comes to movies, so it’s hard to find something he won’t watch, no matter the company. Murasakibara likes family-type movies – iirc Fujimaki even said he loves Home Alone (which makes so much sense considering he has like four older siblings XD), but you can’t tell me he doesn’t religiously watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
Later on he also gets interested in Food Network style cooking shows or documentaries like Kings of Pastry. He doesn’t mind when Murochin wants to watch something sci-fi or action-y, but he draws the line at Himuro’s love of horror movies (the gorier, the better), because that’s just gross and you are gross Murochin are you a cannibal.
5. When did they know that they are each other’s soul mate?
Pffff, no. God, no. I don’t think either believes in the concept, but even if they did, they’re about as different as two people can be, so if anything, isn’t it more noteworthy that they’re making things work despite that?
6. Where do they primarily kiss one another out in public? Examples forehead, cheek, hand etc.
Mukkun gets all tsundere about PDA, and Himuro is nothing if not someone who can wait until the perfect moment where all things are working out in his favor.
7. Who goes all out for the other person’s birthday?
XD I dunno, they’re pretty laid-back about this sort of thing and tend to organize their own birthdays. Himuro will often invite friends for a small party (which works out really well considering the bf is well on his way to being a pastry chef and his best friend can cook literally anything to perfection XD). Mukkun is more the type who gets dragged out for a small gathering or wants to “stake out” some new type of high-end café and eat all their ridiculously tiny fancy gateaux. For research. Obviously.
8. Whose clothes are too big for the other, but they wear them anyway?
Himuro doesn’t do that very often (he’s too fashion-conscious). It’s more Murasakibara who’ll sometimes decide that “Murochin will catch a cold, he should wear this” and dump one of his giant picnic-blanket hoodies on him, and Himuro finds his irritated blushy face damnably endearing, so he does.
9. Who is the one who stays up late baking brownies and dancing in their underwear wearing a baggy shirt, and who is the one who comes down to see the other being all cute?
Even after answering this meme so many times, this question is still creepy. The ONLY part of this that I can see happening is the brownies thing because Murasakibara gets cravings at odd hours and now that he actually has the training to make his own snacks, nothing can stop him. (And then he falls asleep in front of the oven and Himuro gets woken up by the smoke alarm going off).
10. Would they cuddle even though it is super hot outside?
No. Murasakibara gets extremely cranky in the heat, not least because stupid Murochin will walk around the apartment in his underwear and constantly rub down with a damp towel and it’s too hot to do anything about that and gnarhghghgh.

Tattoo Memory
Summary: “Aka-chin’s Dad hates tattoos.”
“Oh Tatsuya, you are such a terrible influence.” Himuro shrugged with a smirk on his face.
“What can I say? Got to rebel sometimes, especially since tattoos are so taboo in Japan.
A HUGE happy birthday to @arcs-and-blah 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉
Thank you Achie for being a great friend and being the person I can talk NijiAka ideas to and getting lost in other ideas! I hope you have a wonderful day filled with happiness and cake 🎂
AO3
“Ugh...what a long day.” Letting out a yawn as he leaned back against his chair, Nijimura Shuuzo groaned while feeling his back pop. Another long and busy day coming to an end, but another successful day! He owned a tattoo shop in LA that had recently blown up and because of the sudden discovery of his shop, the phones haven’t stopped ring ever since. There were days he was booked from the time he opened to the time he closed, but every business can’t have only busy days and tonight was one of those nights.
It was a quarter to nine on this Thursday night, the shop was busy in the morning but now things were slowing down as it grew closer and closer to 10pm. For the past hour, the shop owner had been at his computer doing “boring business” stuff and taking calls for tomorrow’s appointments. The shop owner turned around to look at the activities behind him; Nijimura had hired two other artists to help him out with the shop, one was finishing up a tattoo while the other was cleaning things up.
“Hey boss, what’s the plans for dinner tonight?” The one cleaning, Kubota Masaya, asked as he looked up from sweeping. Nijimura shrugged while scratching his head with his pen.
“I don’t know. Probably order something from down the street.” The business owner replied while opening a drawer and pulling out the menus they had. “Sekiguchi! What sounds good for tonight?”
“I don’t care.” Sekiguchi responded while he looked up from the tattoo he was doing on the client’s thigh. “Just as long as it’s not from that greek place. After last time I was there, I was up due to food poisoning all night. Not going through that again!"
“I know how you feel, that place gave me food poisoning too.” The client agreed while Nijimura nodded and threw the menu away.
“Greeks out of the question then.” To be honest, he wasn’t a fan of that place anyways. “Well after you finish up that tattoo, you and Kubota go find something for us to eat. I don’t care what, I’m good with anything.”
“Got it boss!” The two answered just as Nijimura’s phone went off. He typically didn’t answer his phone during business hours - unless it’s his Mother, who had a different ring tone compared to everyone else - but he made an exception for this call. Hey, it was a slow night and the customer surely wouldn’t have a problem with it, giving their chill nature.
Pulling out his phone, Nijimura was a little taken aback when he read the caller ID. Tatsuya.
“Well, well, well, look what we have here.” He smirked while pressing the button to answer the call. “Hello?”
“Hey, Shuuzo!”
"Well, if it isn't Himura Tatsuya!" Nijimura spoke with playfulness edged into his voice, causing the person on the other line to laugh. "What's up, Mr. I'm going back to Japan? Haven't heard from you in a while."
“Yeah hey, sorry I haven’t been able to call and keep in touch with you. I’ve been crazy busy over there.” Himuro apologized while he let out a nervous chuckle.
“Nah, you’re cool. I’ve been busy with the shop anyways and haven’t even noticed.”
“Well yeah I’m back in LA for a week and wanted to call and ask you a question.”
“Shoot.”
“Do you have a free slot tonight?”
“Yup.” Nijimura responded without even looking at the appointment book. “We’ve been slow since about six. Why? Want a new tattoo? Finally getting that tramp-”
“Shuuzo don’t you dare finish that sentence.” Himuro cut the artist off, who laughed. “No, I’m not getting another this time. A friend of mine wants to get one while we’re here in LA and I thought you’d have a spot open.”
“Well you would be correct, I have plenty of spots open tonight.” Nijimura replied, while looking at the book. He didn’t have anymore clients written down until they’d close.
“Great! We’ll be over in about half an hour.”
“Yeah, come by when you get the chance, I’m open until midnight.”
“Alright, sounds good! See you in a bit!”
An hour passed and the shop grew quiet after the customer left and the two artists had gone to retrieve dinner. The shop owner went through organizing receipts during the only down moment he would probably have, when the door opened; the alarm going off to let Nijimura know someone has entered his shop.
“Welcome! Be with you in a minute.”
“This place got more colorful since the last time I was here.” A voice came that made the artist look up, seeing Himuro and two other people behind him; one of which towered over them all.
“Well hello to you too!” Nijimura greeted as he got up from his seat and hugged Himuro, the two friends patting each other’s backs after not seeing each other in months. “It’s great to see you again, Tatsuya.”
“It’s good to see you again too, Shuuzo. How has business been?”
“It’s been crazy lately. I don’t know what I did or who we tattooed, but business has just been booming. We’ve been booked nearly all day, but today was kinda slow.” Nijimura replied.
“That’s great to hear.” Himuro smiled as he patted his friend’s shoulder. “I knew this shop would take off!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. So,” Nijimura turned to the two other men, taking notice of their very interesting hair colors. The taller one having purple hair and the smaller having maroon coloured hair. “Who’s getting the tattoo?”
“That would be me.” The maroon haired man spoke while raising his hand.
“Really now?” Nijimura asked with a raised eyebrow, he thought the taller guy would have wanted one. But the smaller one? He didn’t seem like the type.
“Muro-chin convinced Aka-chin to get a tattoo since he always listens to his Dad.” The taller man replied. “Aka-chin’s Dad hates tattoos.”
“Oh Tatsuya, you are such a terrible influence.” Himuro shrugged with a smirk on his face.
“What can I say? Got to rebel sometimes, especially since tattoos are so taboo in Japan. Though you aren’t any better, Shuuzo.” He pointed to Nijimura’s left arm, where a dragon sleeve tattoo was visible, that went all the way up his arm and shoulder. The tattoo was of a dragon coming out of lava roaming up into the sky, only having red and orange for the lava and the rest being black. One of Nijimura’s biggest tattoos he ever got (and his favorite).
“Hey, I didn’t convince this guy to get a tattoo.” Nijimura said as he pointed to the shorter man.
“But you did convince me to get my tattoo. Remember?” Himuro reminded the artist as he crossed his arms.
“...So did you have anything in mind?” Nijimura asked as he turned toward the man.
“I would like something in memory of my mother. She passed away when I was young, so it should be something, that reminds me of her.” He replied.
“Okay, no problem. Anything in particular you would want and where?” Nijimura asked as the maroon haired man pulled out his phone and pulled up a picture. It showed a tree branch with several smaller spreading out towards it ends. Five, small flowers bloomed on it. With a sixth, pink one flowing under the words 'Until we meet again', that was written along the underside of the branch.
“As for where, I’d like it on my side.” The man responded as Nijimura looked up and again, raised his eyebrow.
“You sure you want it on your side? It’s going to be painful, especially if you’ve never gotten a tattoo before.”
“I’m sure.”
“I tried to tell him, but he wants it there.” Himuro commented.
‘I wonder how long it’ll take him to realize he’s made a terrible mistake?’ “Alright then. Give me a little bit to sketch this up and then we’ll start.”
“Please take your time.”
The sketch didn't take long, since Nijimura was quite quick with doing the outline of the idea and in the process, dinner arrived. Himuro offered to feed Nijimura while he did the tattoo, but he declined.
“I don’t eat while I do my tattoos. Plus it’s unprofessional, so I’ll eat after I finish it.”
“Suit yourself.” Himuro shrugged.
“Alright, finished it. Is this what you want?” Nijimura asked as he walked over with the sketch and showed it to the man.
“Yes, that’s what I want.” He agreed with a nod.
“Alright then. Follow me and we’ll get started.” Nijimura said as he lead the man over to a table. The man removed his shirt, while Nijimura gathered the colors.
“Aka-chin, do you really want to do this? You can always back out.”
“I’m sure, Atsushi. I’ve thought about this for awhile.”
“Okay.” Atsushi responded as he leaned against Himuro, who wrapped his arms around the taller man.
“Akashi knows what he’s getting into, Atsushi. Don’t worry.” Himuro chuckled as Akashi put his arm to the side for Nijimura to place the stencil in its place, the tattoo artist asking if that’s where Akashi wanted it. The maroon haired man nodded.
“Great, lay on the table and we can get started.” The artist said as he stood up to gather his supplies while Akashi laid down onto the table.
“I can’t believe you’re actually getting one, Aka-chin. And the first in our group. I thought Mine-chin would have been the first.” Atsushi commented.
“I do agree, I expected Daiki to have one already. But I guess I’ll be the first.” Akashi chuckled as Nijimura returned with everything and started to open the needle.
“How painful is getting a tattoo?” Atsushi asked as Nijimura looked up while putting his machine together.
“Depends. A lot of my clients say it feels like a cat scratch and then there are those who says it was the worst pain in their whole life. Also depends on where you get it, like the wrist isn’t that bad. But other places, like the side and rib cage, yeah that’s going to be painful.” Nijimura explained while he set out the disposable cups.
“Oh. Aka-chin, how high is your pain tolerance.”
“I believe I can tolerate it.”
“Yeah, we’ll see.” Himuro chuckled.
“Alright, you ready? Last chance to back out and say you don’t want it.” Nijimura asked as Akaashi nodded his head.
“I’m ready, I’m not backing out.”
“Okay. Here we go.” The buzzing sound from the machine was turned on and Nijimura went to make the first line.
“How are you feeling, Aka-chin?”
“I’m alright. This is feeling a lot less than a cat scratch.”
“Told you.” Nijimura chuckled as he wiped away the ink before dipping the needle. “So how close were you with your Mom, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Very. My Father was very strict with me when I was young and she was what made it bearable.” Akashi explained. “But she fell ill when I was still a very young age and passed away. Things only got worse with my Father.”
“Sorry to hear that. That had to be rough.” Nijimura replied.
“It was, but something I got used too.”
“So what made you decide you want to get a tattoo? They’re taboo in Japan, right?”
“Well yes they are, but I am my own person and my father will have to get the hell over it.” Akashi replied with a smirk on his face.
“I like you.” NIjimura chuckled. “So how do you know Tatsuya?”
“Him and Atsushi are dating.” Akashi replied.
“Whoops, cats out of the bag.”
“Damn, Tatsuya! Didn’t even tell me you have a boyfriend?” Nijimura was honestly surprised, but he couldn’t help but laugh. He never saw Himuro with someone that tall, towering over all of them! “And you’re friends with the boyfriend?”
“Yes, Atsushi and I were middle school teammates on the basketball team.” Akashi nodded.
“Oh nice! What positions did you two play?”
“I was a point guard and Atsushi was a center.”
“Nice, I used to play basketball. I used to be a power forward.” Nijimura replied. Next thing they knew, the four of them were talking about basketball for the whole four hour session.
“Alright, done.” Nijimura announced as he wiped the tattoo. “Have a look and tell me what you think of it.”
Akashi stood up from the table and walked over to the mirror. His eyes widened when he saw the ink on his skin.
“It’s perfect.” Akashi responded as he looked back toward Nijimura, who nodded.
“I’m glad to hear that.” Nijimura smiled as Himuro and Atsushi walked over to check out the tattoo.
“Oh Aka-chin, it looks nice.”
“Shuuzo you did a good job on this one.” The compliments came and oh how Nijimura loved them.
“I love it. Just what I wanted.”
“I’m glad to hear that. I’m sure Tatsuya can tell you what you need to do for aftercare, but here’s a sheet about it. Just in case.” Nijimura explained as he handed the sheet to Tatsuya.
“Yes, I will take a look at that when we leave.”
“Good. So let me wrap that up and you are good to go.”
“Akashicchi got a tattoo?!” Kise reacted first the moment Akashi revealed his tattoo the next morning.
“Yes, I did.”
“Yeah, he did. I was shocked too, Kise-chin. I didn’t think Aka-chin would get one.” Murasakibara admitted.
“Damn, Akashi and here I thought I was going to be the first one!” Aomine exclaimed, everyone nodding in agreement.
“What made you decide to get one?” Momo asked as Akashi stood up and pulled his hoodie up, revealing the tattoo.
“Something to have in memory of my mother.” Akashi explained.
“And you had to get a tattoo?” Midorima asked. “You couldn’t just have worn a necklace or something that belonged to her?”
“Well unlike those things, you can’t lose a tattoo and that’s what I fear if I had a necklace or ring. So something that’s close to me.” Akashi explained as he dropped a link into the message.
“And if any of you are curious, Daiki I know you’re coming to LA soon, this is the artist that did it.” Akashi explained as the others clicked on the link.
“And Muro-chin even knows him. I think he said they were friends when Muro-chin used live here.” Murasakibara explained.
“Huh so this is the guy Tatsuya was talking about.” Kagami commented while looking through the posts.
“The tattoo looks much nicer in this photo then it does on video, Akashi-kun.” Kuroko commented.
“Yes, it looks much better in person than on screen.” Murasakibara agreed as Akashi looked at it in the mirror.

meet at a wedding (au)?
one of the classics~
“Hello.” They nod to each other, a polite acknowledgement. They have seen each other before. Weddings, showers and the occasional office party. Its always somehow them.
Furihata checks things off his mental list, food station here is pretty good, his staff is running on clock and as smoothly as they can, even Sakurai is busy enough to not say sorry. His catering business has been taking off pretty well thanks to the recommendation by his friends and the like.
“Its not you, Furihata-kun. We aren’t doing this because we are friends. Its because you are that good.” Kuroko had said, after watching Kagami eat about ten plates of the buffet at their wedding.
“Give yourself some credit, Furi! Your food is awesome.” Takao had grinned, confetti sticking to his hair as he watched Midorima pick up their daughter and wish her a happy birthday.
Its warm its kind its meaningful what he does, bringing joy to people with his food. The only way he knows how.
Today looks like a good day, he thinks, the outdoor reception of the Murasakibara-Himuro wedding getting things set up and the good buzz of the place making him feel powered up to give his best, once again.
“Excuse me.” He turns and sees the photographer of the wedding standing near him.
There it was again. The little flip in his stomach.
“Yes?” he asks. They had seen each other a bunch of times. Never a word exchanged. Only polite nods. This was new.
“Um.” The red haired, very beautiful man scratches his cheek. It reminds Furi of a cat - maybe it was his eyes. “Tatsuya-the groom……he would like pictures of the food. Something about gifting them to Atsushi.” He shrugs, his shoulders falling delicately. His gaze veers to Furi. “Would you help me out?”
Intense.
He doesn’t know whether the guy is doing this deliberately or not, but the gaze was intense. Anchoring him. “Y-yeah! Sure. This way please.”
Furi takes him to his kitchen where the food is just getting ready to be laid out on the buffet tables, his companion walking along side him, clicking pictures frequently.
He knows that the photographer is sought after and is professional. He also knows that his food being taken pictures of by the attractive photographer was just a part of the job. Nothing more.
What he doesn’t know are the pictures Akashi takes of him as he places the food on the table.

Kurobas Valentine’s Day Event 2020 Day 4: NijiAka
Oh gosh, I’ve finally finished this after a looooong time. And because it’s Valentines, various pairings (MuraHimu, MidoTaka, AoKise, and KagaKuro) appear on this. And it’s time for this pair to make a debut at least for me because the guy who plays Nijimura on the stageplay is my Kubota Hidetoshi. :P Once again, special thanks to @vanilla-daydreams and @theuglycrybaby for this wonderful event.

Day 4 Prompt: Love Song/I wish you were here.
Title: Valentines’ Surprise
Summary: Akashi has finally realized that greater things come to those who wait.

Also on Ao3
Akashi Seijurou is currently overlooking his team’s practice. Because of their loss, he and the coach have decided to pump up their training regime to get back what’s rightfully theirs for the next Winter Cup.
It has been two weeks since he has woken up from his own body and since Seirin has beaten them. For the excruciating weeks following his comeback, the Akashi Seijurou has been longing. Since he emerges, his first thought after losing is to badly talk to Nijimura-san. He has been longing to see or even talk to his previous captain. He wants to apologize for everything as well as to tell him something important. Something that he couldn’t say or even show before because his other self has gotten so obsessed with winning and being absolute to the point that he has pushed everyone away.
He has been lucky that his previous team, his first real friends, are able to accept him again after all his wrongdoings in the past when they all meet up for Kuroko’s birthday. No words have been said, just a welcoming feeling that he still belongs with them. He feels that he doesn’t deserve it but nonetheless reaches out their hands again because he seriously doesn’t want to lose them again this time. And now, looking at his current teammates, he promises himself that he won’t do the same mistake again.
-x-
Practice ends in an uneventful way and Seijurou just wants to retire to his room for the night.  Although he has been thinking a lot after he comes back but today, he is feeling so pensive and he doesn’t know why. He creases his forehead as he feels an incoming headache. Thinking that he has enough practice for today, he shouts some more last-minute orders for the other first years before he makes his way to the locker room. However, when he arrives there, he is greeted by the usual occurrence with the three second years starting with Nebuya flexing his muscles and he feels like Hayama is a walking bungee jumper with a megaphone attached. Although it is a bit different from Mibuchi. These past few days, Mibuchi finds a fascination for Western slow rock love songs ranging from the 70s-90s. Almost every day, he will give him his most recommended song, he’ll listen to it then he’ll give his input the next day. He actually indulges his teammates with their quirks and whims to get closer and to get to know them better like what he has done with the Kisekis before to deepen the bond and trust among themselves.
“Sei-chan~,” Mibuchi greets him as well as the other two. He nods at them as he goes in front of his locker to change.
“Hey, Akashi, Reo-nee says he wants to go to the convenience store and Ei-chan and I are gonna tag along. Come with us!” Hayama asks him excitedly. He thinks for a bit; he doesn’t have much homework today and he has been meaning to get the Basketball Monthly for this month.
“Okay, I’ll come.”
“Ara, Sei-chan you make me happy~” He sees Mibuchi and Hayama from the corner of his eye do a high five.
A small smile tug on his lips thinking that it’s okay to have fun with these guys.
Their trip to the convenience store somewhat reminds him of what they used to do back in middle school. It is a refreshing feeling. Hayama strongly reminds him of Kise as a ball of energy. Mibuchi is like Midorima who is engaging him in a sensible conversation. With Nebuya, he’s like Kuroko in a way that he will just input on the conversation from time to time less the gross burping. He must admit that he misses Murasakibara’s constant munching with crumbs leaving a trail from point a to point b as well as Aomine’s contagious smile and sometimes, stupidity. He is thinking that maybe, he should hang out with them more after school. They also end up eating dinner at a nearby restaurant near the convenience store because Nebuya wants to eat more meat.
And thus, when they reach their boarding, Mibuchi stops him and gives him his song for the day. He accepts it with a small smile and promises him that he’ll give him his review tomorrow. They bid their goodbyes as he retires to his room. He does his routine: bath, do his homework while listening to classical music, do some stretching before going to bed and the newly added one, check out Mibuchi’s recommended song for the day. He unfolds the paper and looks at the title with Mibuchi’s neat handwriting.
First Time by Robin Beck
Seijurou then opens his laptop and starts searching the song and the lyrics. As he is listening, he thinks that so far this is the best one yet. Mibuchi is giving him songs varying from I Love You Always Forever by Donna Lewis, Love Will Lead You Back by Taylor Dayne to Morning Train by Sheena Easton. He thinks that all of them are good songs but the first one is too cliché, the second one is too painful while the last one is for adulting...kind of.
But this song, First Time by Robin Beck triggers something in him. The fine use of metaphor when you experience your first love is so beautiful as well as the feelings and hesitations that comes with it when you finally have the love you desire. The melody is something upbeat as slow rock music is meant to be and the exquisite timing fits the lyrics properly.
Probably because he’s on a pensive move all day and him, Akashi Seijurou is never really a fan of love songs. Not at all, thank you very much. It’s just so out of his character but it’s quite alright for him because he is actually learning something from it as well as having some bonding moment with Mibuchi. He especially likes these lines:
So mysterious yet so incredibly real
It's an uncharted sea, it's an unopened door
But you gotta reach out and you gotta explore
Even though you're not sure till the moment arrives
There he is and you know you're in love
And it reminds him of Nijimura-san. The guy that he never has a chance to express how he really feels. He is a little bit too late. Nijimura-san has already left when he realized everything. Also, it is one of the reasons why his split personality has gotten worst to the point of emerging so soon. He lost his support system and he got pressured for leading the team to victory after victory. He has realized it too late that it was and it still is Nijimura-san who can keep him in line after all this time.
He repeats the song again as he digs deeper into the metaphors when his phone continuously vibrates, signaling that he has an incoming call. He pauses the music as he reaches for his phone and looks at the caller before answering. His eyes widen for a brief moment because the one calling him is Murasakibara and he is definitely not expecting a call from him by this time just because the big baby is usually asleep as early as 1930 and it’s already past 2300 now.
Curiously, he answers his phone.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Aka-chin. Can you come to Tokyo this weekend? I want to see you. Also, Mido-chin, Mine-chin, Kuro-chin, Kise-chin and Sa-chin are coming too.” Seijurou smiles as he heard the usual childish voice of Murasakibara. After all, even though he is the youngest of the team, he and Nijimura-san always baby him just so he would listen to them when they tell him to do something. He will always have a soft spot for their team’s big baby, after all.
“What is coming this weekend? It’s not like you to actually exert an effort to come to Tokyo from Akita.”
He hears some speaking noise from the other line and he can make up that Murasakibara is talking to Himuro based on a Muro-chin call and Atsushi coming from the pretty boy. “Eh? I don’t know what you’re talking about Aka-chin but come. Everyone is coming so you should too.”
It’s funny that almost everyone he knows is mostly inviting him to something today. He just doesn’t expect one from Murasakibara though.
“Okay, I will come. Where are we meeting up?”
“Do you still remember that court that we always play at near Teiko?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah, there. See you, Aka-chin. Bye.”
He sets down his phone on the desk as he wonders what has Murasakibara has eaten for him to organize this meet-up. It’s normal if it’s Momoi who calls him tonight because she usually arranges the meet up for everyone. He just continues the song and makes up his mind that dwelling with Murasakibara’s peculiar behavior is not worth it for he trusts the gentle baby giant.
-x-
Saturday comes and he is anticipating this day. When Mibuchi caught wind of his plan, he insists that he comes with him because he wants to see the Kisekis too especially Kise. He asks Murasakibara if he can tag Mibuchi along and replies okay since he’s bringing Himuro Tatsuya with him too. And now, they are currently taking a bus going to Teiko. It’s not that he feels nostalgic  but because of the fact that being near Teiko gives him a bittersweet memory. He tries to whisk away all the pessimistic thoughts that he is having. After all, he is meeting his friends and it’s supposed to be a joyful event for him.
When they finally arrive at the street courts, he is greeted by his friends warmly. After he says his greetings to them as well as Mibuchi, he sits down by the bench as he endearingly watches his friends interact with each other.
Midorima is holding delicately an airplane model for his lucky item for the day as Kise wants to play with it because it is his dream to be a pilot much to the chagrin of the bespectacled boy. Aomine has challenged Mibuchi to a one on one which the latter gladly accepts and says “Ikemen Target No. 1: Lock on~”. He chuckles at his teammates but said nothing when he sees Aomine cringing. Momoi is affectionately talking to Kuroko. However, the guy who has organized this meeting is still missing.
“Has anyone heard from Murasakibara?” It is Midorima who asks, obviously irritated.
“Murasakibara-kun is going to come, he just needs to do something first.” Kuroko supplies.
“I wonder why Mukkun called us here. Do you happen to know the reason, Tetsu-kun?”
“Yes, I would like to know that too.” By this time, all heads turn to him when he has spoken. “Do you know anything Kuroko?”
Kuroko looks at him with his usually impassive face as he takes out his phone and calls someone.
“Hello, Kagami-kun?...yeah...they’re coming now? Okay...you’re still with Takao-kun? Right...you can come here with Takao-kun...All right...vanilla milkshake please..thanks!”
After the conversation, Kuroko faces them again and says, “They’re coming now. Probably they have just gotten lost knowing Murasakibara-kun as well as Himuro-san. Even I don’t know why Murasakibara-kun called us.”
This time, it is Midorima who comments, “You’re awfully close with Himuro-san, Kuroko.”
“Yeah. We always hang out at Kagami-kun’s house whenever he and Murasakibara-kun will come to Tokyo.”
“Eh? Really, Kurokochi? Why is Murasakibarachi not saying anything whenever he comes to Tokyo?”
Kuroko mysteriously smiles, “I think you’ll just have to ask him when he comes.”
Aomine then comes and he one arm hugs Kise, “Cmon, Kise. Isn’t it too obvious? They’re always together. Also, they’re in the same room.”
“Eh? EEEEHHHHH???!!!!”
“Too loud, Kise. Aomine, I’m surprised by your perspective thinking only for today, in fact.” Midorima says as he pushes his glasses up with his taped fingers.
“Shut up, megane. Can’t you even say something nice? And yeah, Kise, so stop whining.”
Seijurou, for the lack of a better word, is in fact, shocked. Just because this is Murasakibara that we are talking about. He more or less gets what they are implying. It is as clear as the sky for Aomine and Kise because they’ve been at it since middle school. For Midorima with Takao, they make it painfully obvious during the Rakuzan vs. Shutoku match last Winter Cup. He knows about Kuroko and Kagami because Kuroko has admitted it to him during his birthday. He knows that Himuro is treating Murasakibara like his baby chick and he has thought that it’s platonic. He has decided now that he should learn more about human interactions. He will have to buy a book before going back to Kyoto.
As he is contemplating different books about human interactions and where to get them, Kagami and Takao arrive, with the tiger carrying two big paper bags from Maji Burger with Takao trailing after him who is holding the drinks. He sees Mibuchi joyfully approaches Takao as Midorima shots the boy a glare.
“Yo, everyone!” Kagami and Takao greet them. He nods at the two as they settle the paper bags and drinks on the bench. Takao goes behind Midorima just because Mibuchi has locked on his second target in the form of one Takao Kazunari much to the entertainment of Momoi. Kagami, on the other hand, is greeted by Kuroko with a small smile of his as he hands him his vanilla milkshake. Kise and Aomine are cuddling together much to the sourness of Midorima because he says it’s too vulgar. He, on the other hand, just accepts the food as Kagami is handing out for everyone. But still, Murasakibara sure is taking his sweet time. He is itching to call the tall purple head because although he is with every one of his friends and their other half, it feels like they are still incomplete.
And as everyone starts digging in with their food, they heard footsteps coming in their way. When he looks up, he sees Murasakibara, Himuro and a third person that is awfully familiar. He just can’t tell because the third person is wearing dark sunglasses as well as a baseball cap.
“Hi, everyone~!” Murasakibara waves at then with his usual lazy tone and three sticks of pocky hanging on his mouth.
“The hell you called us early in here and you arrived late?! I should be sleeping.........” Aomine yells indignantly follows by Midorima’s, “You have some nerve to let us wait in here, in fact.” They can see that something like a green smoke oozing out of Midorima’s body as Takao tries to pacify his boyfriend.
“Murasakibarachi, what’s up with the sudden meetup? Why are you late? Did something happen? You know we are worried that you might be lost as always..........”
“Hello, Mukkun, Himuro-san.”
“Hello, Murasakibara-kun, Himuro-san.”
“Hey, Murasakibara, Himuro-san.”
Murasakibara snaps for the constant nagging coming from Kise and Aomine as well as the sharp glare coming from Midorima. The next thing they know, his right hand is already moving to clamp a head as he just tells them.
“Shut up, guys. I’ll crush each and every one of you.”
Seijurou just sighs as he looks at his friends. His crazy friends. By then, he noticed that the mysterious guy behind Himuro is laughing at their display. It seems like he isn’t the only one who has noticed it as the rest of them has stopped talking and look at the mysterious newcomer.
Himuro chuckles at their expressions before saying, “Hey, Shuu. I think they’ve had enough of your disguise.”
It is actually Kuroko who snaps out of their first, “Nijimura-senpai?”
As soon as Kuroko calls that name, he snaps his head to look at the mysterious guy as he removes his sunglasses and cap.
“What’s up brats?” He lightly greets them with a grin.
Seijurou holds a deep breath as he properly looks at him. Nijimura-san is here in flesh and blood. He is snapped out when everyone has started to call out and surround Nijimura-san excitedly.
“Nijimura-senpai. It has been a while, in fact.”
“Nijimuraccchiiiiii!!!”
“Yo, Nijimura-senpai.”
“Hey brats, calm down!” He says as he greets every person there. The guys outside Teiko seems to be confused by the newcomer.
And hesitantly, he slowly moves forward to him and bravely faces his old captain. He lets out the breath that he has been holding as he genuinely smiles.
“Nijimura-san, it’s been a while.” The older boy just grins at him as he pats his head affectionately. “Yo, Akashi. You’ve grown huh?”
“Of course. I am a boy who is hitting puberty. I am supposed to grow.”
Nijimura-san just smirks at him. “You still don’t have any funny bone in you.”
Akashi gives him a small smile as the group settles by the benches, gives him food and from there, a series of conversations have started mostly from Kise asking a ton of questions to Nijimura-san as well as they introduce him to the others.
“Takao, Mibuchi and Kagami, this is Nijimura Shuuzo. Our old captain from Teiko.”
“Ara, what an ikemen, Sei-chan.”
“Heh, he’s the one that Shin-chan is talking about.”
“Ne, ne, Nijimurachi, how come Murasakibarachi knows you’re arriving?”
They all look at him and waits for an answer because everyone is as curious as he is.
Nijimura-san sips his soda before he answers, “Well, I’m friends with Tatsuya. We met in LA. And because he is a sly fox, he finds it entertaining to call me at Skype when it’s really late in America. Turns out he’s roommates with Murasakibara so I’ve been keeping tabs on you guys. They also picked me up at the airport earlier but they were late. I also asked him to set this meet up.”
Himuro chuckles as he retorts, “You know, I’m not quite good with directions and Atsushi usually gets lost so put us two together, of course, we’re bound to get lost.”
Everyone laughs at that but they now know the reason why Murasakibara has set this meet up. It is coming from Nijimura-san after all.
“How come you just visit us just now, Nijimurachi? How is your dad?”
Nijimura-san actually spares a glance on him before looking back at the rest and answers, “My Dad is all better now, thanks. He is actually the one who says that I can have a vacation for a bit because between school, part-time job and taking care of my Dad, I barely have time to spare for myself. Also, I need to see how far my sons have come.” He smirks at them but Seijurou kind of feels offended that Nijimura-san also sees him as his son. Out of nowhere, he abruptly stands up and excuses himself from the rest as he goes on his way to the restroom. He can hear the others calling for him but he doesn’t really want them to see him being so out of character - being fragile and offended. He needs time to compose himself, for goodness’ sake, he is Akashi Seijuro and Akashis don’t show any weaknesses.
Once he is done composing himself, he goes out of the restroom but is surprised to see Nijimura-san standing outside as if he is waiting for him. Seijuro snorts inwardly at the thought. By now, he has learned the hard way not to expect anything from other people or else he might push them more away from him.
“Yo, Akashi, why did you suddenly bailout?”
“And you, Nijimura-san, why are you here?”
“It’s suffocating there, everyone is doing a public display of attention even Midorima and his little bird and otou-san can’t handle it.” He says with a straight face which is amusing if he must say. He can’t help but let out a small laugh.
“Ah yes, I am surprised as well with everyone dating someone especially Murasakibara. I mean he’s our big baby.”
Nijimura-san just chuckles. “Yeah, I’ll kill Tatsuya if he makes our big baby cry, ne, okaa-san?”
Seijurou does something out of his character for he actually widens his eyes and gapes at him for a few seconds. Thinking that he must have heard his statement wrong, he inquires again.
“Sorry I missed what you said. Can you repeat it again?”
He can see that his face has a tint of red showing as he faces him and moves closer to him until they are only a foot away. He actually has to look up at him because he has gotten taller as he remembers him to be. But he couldn’t deny the fact that Nijimura-san has gotten more....dashing.
“W-Well, Akashi, other than seeing our sons, my priority is to talk to you about two things.”
“About what?”
“Well, first, you know Murasakibara told me everything and I want to see if you’re okay now.”
“Yes, better than I’ll ever be.”
“Good, then for the second one.”
“Yes?”
“I’ve been meaning to tell you this before but I’ve seen you getting harder to approach and getting more aloof by that time so I thought that it’s not yet time. But now....” he inhales a deep breath as he looks straight into his red-maroon eyes and continues softly, “...would you be the mother to our rainbow sons again?”
For the first time in his life, Akashi Seijurou is getting a really lame confession and he can’t help but chuckle. Nijimura-san has said it with such a straight face that he really doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry out of happiness.
“That’s a lame confession, Nijimura-san.”
“Shut up. It took me three whole years to say that.” As soon as the older boy says that, he can’t help but blush just because for three years, he has this lingering feeling of love for one Nijimura Shuuzo. The moment is already here and he remembers the lyrics of the song.
So mysterious yet so incredibly real
It's an uncharted sea, it's an unopened door
But you gotta reach out and you gotta explore
Even though you're not sure till the moment arrives
There he is and you know you're in love
He is already here and he just needs to reach out and explore.
“Yes, I’ll be the okaa-san for our rainbow sons again, otou-san.”
Omake
It has been a precious week of happiness that will forever be engraved in Seijurou’s heart once he and Shuuzo are together. The others have teased them to no end once they have learned that finally, their parents are together after three long years. Everyone gives their congratulations and some threats to their otou-san that they will fly to America if he makes their okaa-san cry. Seijurou finds it funny how Shuuzo gets rooted in his place as he listens to every threat that their sons throw on him.
However, Shuuzo is only staying for a week so when he flies back, it is a bittersweet moment for both of them. They hug each other tightly with a promise that they will be in touch at all times with each other.
And now, Valentine’s day has come and he is actually feeling a little bit lonely because his other half is on the other side of the world. He is currently on the rooftop where he has met Mayuzumi-san before, feeling the wind touching on his skin. His phone suddenly vibrates signaling a message and smiles as he sees Shuuzo’s name.
From: Nijimura Shuuzo
To: Mama Sei
Subject: Good morning
Message: Happy Valentines’ Day, okaa-san. I miss you. Don’t let our sons run wild today! I’ll call you later during my lunch break at school.
He smiles as he is typing a reply because he never knew that the Nijimura Shuuzo who always beat up Haizaki into the brink of death could be this sweet.
From: Mama Sei
To: Nijimura Shuuzo
Re: Subject: Good morning
Message: Happy Valentines’ Day too, otou-san. Wish you were here. I’ll be waiting for your call later.
Suddenly, he doesn’t feel lonely anymore.
NOTE: Hello, I'm back again with the fourth installment. This one, I've tried to grasp Akashi's and Nijimura's character as much as possible. Please excuse the long narration from Akashi because after all, he is a man who constantly thinks and Nijimura being the cheeky adorable bastard that he is. Hope you guys like this as I have really fun writing this. That song from Robin Beck is a personal favorite of mine and I feel that it just fits Akashi’s baby feeling for Nijimura. Thanks much for reading and Happy Valentines from my sons and me <3

apostasy - first fragment
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOONIE! I’ve written notes on the AO3 upload of this, so I won’t repeat them here, but happy birthday and I hope you have the best day!!!! ♥
Read on AO3 here (recommended)
The lives of those who work in the police force aren't particularly stimulating.
Regular patrols. Missing person cases without any deeper motives. The occasional murder.
Where other cities are alive and bustling at night, this city is dead.
It had always been--
--until the day they arrived.
Kuroko Tetsuya: a twenty-four year old with light, celeste-hued locks and dark cobalt-eyes, working as one of the top detectives in the police force. He is twenty-one when he finally completes his courses at the Metropolitan Police Academy in Tokyo. He is twenty-two and a half when he becomes world-renowned as the "phantom detective".
It is one year later when he gets sent to a different location in Japan, a city long abandoned and inhabited by those who claw their way through blood and grime, doing everything they can if only with the hopes of escaping someday. It is a sea of illicit drugs, crime and black lies that he swims through.
He is not looking to save these people, as much as he had argued with his superiors. This place is far too corrupted and his hands are far too clean, they had drilled into his head before giving him the job. You're the only one who can do it, they had said. The Phantom is a man unknown by both name and appearance.
Scuffed, leather soles tracking up dirt, Tetsuya tilts his rusty hat up to get a better view of the city before him.
All he sees is blight.
There are many rumours -- too many -- that surround this city. A disease that zombifies those contaminated has been spread to all its citizens. A nuclear bomb fell upon this area during the world war, and it has been forgotten since. People who visit are cornered and drawn into the endless network of human trafficking.
There are many rumours that surround this city.
But rumours make leads, and leads hold cause for investigation.
Tetsuya is twenty-two when he first hears of them. Amidst making a name for himself as he flawlessly concludes yet another case, his peers invite him out for drinks at the nearby bar.
He agrees.
He goes with Aomine Daiki, a high-ranked police officer, and Kagami Taiga, an intimidating yet friendly fireman. Daiki is tanned, with hair and eyes both an exotic, midnight-blue. He is often accused of being a foreigner. Taiga, on the other hand, has two-toned crimson locks -- bright towards his crown, blacker at the tips -- and eyes of a similar, dark shade. He is never accused of being a foreigner, despite being practically half-American, much to Daiki’s chagrin. They are both Tetsuya’s best friends. They had met in university and clicked straight away, much to the surprise of many others. They frequent the bar owned by Taiga's brother figure, Himuro Tatsuya, and are often treated drinks as a "thanks" for always helping out.
There are many fights in the bar, after all.
Nobody ever mentions Tatsuya's standing in the underworld. The less knowledge they have when they assist him, the better.
He is a mysterious man with eyes as black as his hair -- albeit, nobody has ever seen his left eye. It is permanently obscured by his tresses. The beauty mark beneath his right eye is also a common topic for conversation.
Tatsuya's best worker is a man named Nijimura Shuuzou, who is a plain, yet attractive man with dark hair and eyes -- though, rather than being the best at bartending, he's really only there to terrorise punks and thugs in the vicinity who think they can extort his boss whilst he waits on tables. He also makes the occasional cocktail.
(Tatsuya's high salary and fondness for Shuuzou also definitely do not stem from the fact that they are, none-too-furtively, hooking up. They try to hide it, but Shuuzou rushing to work with hickeys littered across his collarbone in a shirt that Tatsuya was clearly wearing the week before does not make for much of a secret, unfortunately -- much to their coworkers' and friends' amusement.)
Alongside Shuuzou work another odd pair -- Midorima Shintarou, who is as good at smiling as he is socialising -- he's atrocious at both, by the way -- and Takao Kazunari, the only person who can deal with him for extended periods of time. Kazunari also has onyx-coloured hair and eyes -- but Shintarou, for some reason, has natural forest-green hair and eyes of a near identical hue.
(Tetsuya supposes he cannot point out that fact without sounding hypocritical.)
They are, also, going out with each other. Tetsuya is quite sure that it extends beyond physical relations -- if the blush on Shintarou's face is any telling factor, that is, from what he can see at the moment.
Exhaling, Tetsuya sips on his cocktail. He is the sole person who actually drinks the concoction labelled "EXTREMELY MYSTERIOUS SWEET JUICE!!!! ♥", to everyone's horror, on a regular basis. It is a running bet on how long it'll take for him to contract diabetes.
"What's up, Kuroko? Why the long face?"
"That's his regular face," Daiki points out, slinging an arm around the aforementioned detective. Taiga rolls his eyes.
"He was sighing!"
"I was breathing," Tetsuya corrects, swirling his glass around absentmindedly. He likes watching the bright colours mix.
"Who breathes that loudly?"
"I was exhaling."
"Well I, for one, am glad that Kurokocchi's breathing!" Kise Ryouta calls out as he takes a seat next to Tetsuya by the bar, winning smile plastered onto his chiseled features. He works as a full-time model -- it isn't a surprise, with his silky, bright-golden tresses and piercing, aureolin eyes.
"Shut up, Kise, nobody asked."
"So rude, Aominecchi!"
Ryouta whines, turning his gaze on Daiki like a hopeful puppy. When he doesn't react, the blonde wilts sadly.
"It's okay, Kise-kun," Tetsuya says softly, "Aomine-kun is just grouchy; he got yelled at by the higher-ups today."
"Dammit, Tetsu--"
"Also," he adds as an afterthought, eyes sparkling with mischief, "you aren't Kagami-kun, so your teary-eyed attack won't work on him."
Daiki promptly chokes on his beer.
"W-wait, what-- how did you--" Taiga splutters.
"Everyone already knows you’re together."
"Hah?!"
"More importantly, how long have you been going out for?" Kazunari pipes up eagerly. Taiga is confused, but answers regardless.
"Uh... We started a little while before I went to America for the incident with my old man. Remember that?"
"Ah, rather than remembering, it was more like we weren't allowed to forget," Ryouta grins, elbows on the counter. "Aominecchi was complaining for weeks right after you left, after all."
"S-shut up!"
He smirks cheekily, but his mirth fades once Tetsuya turns in his direction. Puffing up his cheeks a little, the model yields.
Shuuzou sighs, muttering a small "fuck".
"This is why you don't add a detective into the mix," Shintarou shakes his head, pushing his glasses up haughtily. Kazunari nudges him with too much force, making him spill some alcohol onto the floor.
"You still went with it though, Shin-chan!" he cackles.
"Shut up, Takao."
"The hell are you guys going on about?" Daiki grumbles, downing another glass. Taiga's jaw drops as every member of the group -- other than himself, Daiki and Tetsuya -- subsequently bring out two thousand-yen bills from their wallets. They pile up in front of Tetsuya, who has the decency to keep his face expressionless in lieu of looking smug.
"You -- you bet on us?!"
"Shitty bastards," Daiki says without bite.
"Damn, can't believe Tatsuya lost," Shuuzou voices, disgruntled, "I thought this time he'd be able to win."
"I'm no match for him, Shuu," Tatsuya chuckles, "despite watching the lovebirds every odd day, I still lost. How did you figure out the date, Kuroko?"
"I figured Aomine-kun would have to get his hands on Kagami-kun before he left for America," Tetsuya answers without remorse, "because Aomine-kun was starved for action for too long."
"Oi-- Tetsu!"
"K-Kuroko!" Taiga quite literally squeaks, mortified. Tetsuya tilts his head cutely, blinking his large, deep-azure eyes. It is an instant kill for Ryouta, who seems close to headdesking and drowning in his own nosebleed -- but alas, Tetsuya's two colleagues are much too accustomed to his sly ruses. He shrugs, and continues to tease them without mercy.
After the bar is cleared out and they are the only remaining patrons, Tetsuya speaks. The door is locked, the "CLOSED FOR BUSINESS" sign swaying softly in the wind.
"I heard my superiors at work today discuss a particular place in Japan," he begins, gaze resting on Tatsuya, whose lips quirk up subtly. The bar owner continues wiping down the counter without any further notion to signify that he is following the conversation.
"As the rumours there go, there are two criminals that have been set loose in separate parts of town. Both have been deemed serial killers, and nobody knows where they came from."
Lacing his fingers together, Tetsuya leans forward a little. His eyes narrow imperceptibly at Tatsuya's form.
It is their usual game.
"They say one is like the mist, and the other a demon."
"The ashen-haired invisible man -- some say he isn't real," Tatsuya hums, wrenching out the cloth between his hands, "but he definitely exists. Like the mist, he moves, disappearing without any evidence. Gone. His victims vanish with his own person."
"But there is always a trace. Run your hands through a cloud of mist, and you'll know it was there. You'll feel it on your fingertips."
"Yes," Tatsuya agrees, "but akin to every other being, you require an incentive."
Tetsuya stares at him, eyes blank. The latter's smile widens.
"The mist is a spirit of vengeance," he murmurs softly, "if your anguish rings out loudly enough, he will come -- and he will aid you. But nothing comes without a price. For people who dip their hands into poison, what do you think happens?"
'Ah,' Tetsuya thought. Watching the comprehension flit through his friend's eyes, Tatsuya chuckles.
"What about the demon?"
"The red demon," he says. "The Reaper. The devil. Diablo... The death god."
He lists them off like they are synonymous to one another, but Tetsuya knows better. His eyes widen.
"...No."
"Yes," Tatsuya inclines his head a single time, "shall we chat a little while longer?"
"No, this is enough," Tetsuya answers lowly, "thank you very much, Himuro-kun."
"It's no problem," the bar owner replies cheerfully, "I'm always indebted to you. Now, Shuu, Midorima-kun, Takao-kun, shall we begin cleaning up?"
"Already on it," Shuuzou hollers, spraying antiseptic on the tables.
"Hell yeah! Let's go, Shin-chan!" Kazunari grins. Before leaving the bar, however, he pauses and leans over to whisper conspiratorially into Tetsuya's ear.
"Don't get yourself killed, alright, Tetsu-chan? We'd all be horribly lonely without you."
"I'll try my best," Tetsuya offers him a rare smile, "thank you, uhm... Kazunari-kun."
With that, Tetsuya leaves; Taiga, Ryouta and Daiki in tow. Shuuzou stands by the unlocked door as they go, and they listen to the door's closing jingle before resuming their post-work clean-up.
"Ah~ Tetsu-chan is so cute. He's still embarrassed to use my first name," Kazunari says dreamily, sighing like a lovesick, high school girl. Shintarou tells him so, and Kazunari simply roars with laughter in response.
"Ahahaha! Shin-chan, don't worry, don't worry! You know you're the only one for me~"
"Shut up, Takao."
Walking outside, Daiki abruptly elbows Taiga in the ribs, earning a grunt from said male. Taiga shoots him a withering look.
"What?" he asks gruffly.
"This is where we split," Daiki points out.
"Eh, isn't this too early? Well, whatever."
"See you, Tetsu, Kise," Daiki waves lazily, seizing Taiga by the hand. Turning a bright red, the redhead stutters out a short farewell to Ryouta and Tetsuya before allowing himself to be tugged away.
Once they're alone, Ryouta sighs. "I can't tell if Aominecchi did that on purpose, or..."
"Kise-kun."
"I know." he looks frustrated with himself. "You don't have to do this, Kurokocchi."
"I know," Tetsuya echoes, "but I want to."
"Why?"
"Because they're harming people."
"What if they're harming people who deserve it?" Ryouta argues, knowing it to be nothing but futile. Tetsuya shakes his head, a small smile tugging up his lips.
"Kise-kun, nobody deserves to be killed. It only makes for a vicious cycle."
"...You don't even know if you'll be put on the case," he refutes weakly. Tetsuya only stares up at him with determination blazing in his gaze, and Ryouta lets his shoulders drop.
"...Please, don't throw yourself into danger as recklessly as you always do. Akashicchi... Akashicchi isn't somebody who lets people get away with defying him."
"I know," Tetsuya affirms softly. Ryouta shakes his head, and for the briefest of moments, Tetsuya can see it again.
He can see a boy, just old enough to be fresh out of high school, with blonde locks covered in filth and soot.
He can see his eyes, narrowed, dull and golden with a lackluster shine, practically unrecognisable to what they are now.
He can almost smell the blood covering the boy's hands, blood that isn't his own, whose blood is it--
He can remember it vividly -- almost too much so.
There is a boy, painfully young, backed into an alleyway. With his brows drawn together and teeth gritted, he growls like a cornered animal. He is bruised and bloody. Tetsuya speaks softly to him, holding his palms up in a placating manner.
It takes a long, long time...
...But it is nothing less than "worth it" as tears well up in the boy's eyes when Tetsuya finally holds his hand out to him.
There isn't a single day Tetsuya regrets his choices for a second: and he never will, he thinks, as the boy sobs, throwing his gun down to launch himself into Tetsuya's arms.
For the first time, the boy sees the world in colour.
It's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen.
The memories are much too fresh in their minds.
(He'll never be able to escape from the hands that curl around his wrists, from the nails that maul down his arms, his legs, his back. He'll never be able to escape all the lives he's stolen. But even so, he continues trying to mend what he's done. He continues trying to find a reason for himself, trying to live for something that isn't his father's bidding. Tetsuya gave him a chance, and he took it.)
Ryouta clenches his fists as he glowers down at the concrete.
"You don't," he says with so much emotion that Tetsuya can't do anything but flinch, "you don't, Kurokocchi. These are two assassins you're up against. I was different."
"You were," Tetsuya agrees quietly, "but I don't plan on trying to save them, either."
"You're going to get yourself killed."
"Perhaps... But more people will be killed if I don't try."
"...What a Kurokocchi-esque answer," Ryouta laughs bitterly.
He looks up, finally, and Tetsuya feels a chill run down his spine.
Those eyes--
It's the same expression Tetsuya has seen on him countless times. There is nothing but ice and pure, pure malice in his gaze.
"I'll tell you everything I know about Akashicchi. But, if either of them lay a single hand on you... I will find them myself."
Ryouta's bloodlust is suffocating--
--and Tetsuya silently thinks to himself that, rather than being afraid of the two assassins...
...It is much more viable to be afraid of the man standing before him.
After all, he is the heir to the infamous King of the Underworld.
At twenty-three and a half, Tetsuya finally gets his hands on the very case that he has chased after for over a year. Scuffed, leather soles tracking up dirt, he tilts his rusty hat up to get a better view of the city before him through his dyed, black locks.
All he sees is blight--
--and blight can be purified.
But he isn't here to do that just yet. If he does not get a proper, tangible lead on either the Mist nor the Demon -- as everyone had begun calling them -- within a month, he will likely find himself mixed into some of the many, precarious situations that the citizens of this city are tangled in. Tetsuya knows this better than anyone.
So, he stays alert.
He blends in with his surroundings, slipping in through crowds, through abandoned buildings, through areas that reek of nothing but blood and sex. He turns a blind eye several times to illegal trades, and quietly exhales, repeating "soon" over and over in his head like a mantra.
Perhaps it is the only thing that helps to keep him from falling into the atmosphere of sheer depravity and impurity.
Perhaps it is the only thing that helps to keep him from noticing the eyes that follow his back wherever he goes.
When he turns around, senses heightened, all he sees is a blur.
And then, black.
His throat constricts, and all he can taste is black.
...
...Black.
"Nn..."
Blinking his eyes open blearily, Tetsuya sits up.
"..."
He jolts awake faster than he ever has throughout his entire twenty-three years of living, and jumps to his feet. He shoves his hands into his pockets.
Gone.
His phone is gone, and so are his capsules of water and liquid vitamins. His wallet and passport are in the safehouse on the outskirts of town, beneath two layers of floorboards in a locked safe, along with emergency supplies and a back-up phone -- but there's no way he's going to rush for them now.
'Is it still the first day? How much time has lapsed since I arrived?'
Tetsuya rubs his dry throat. His head is still ringing, and his senses are all dulled, but he can think.
He has to think.
'Who knocked me out?'
He was unable to catch a single glimpse of his attacker. Had it been a common thug? Or--
Hands reaching deeper inside his pockets, Tetsuya can feel the packets of drugs that the police force supplied him with prior to arriving. He had been ordered to hang onto them at all times, for both blending in and potentially getting him out of risky situations if necessary.
For those to have not been taken... Tetsuya swallows.
He isn't tied up. He's been thrown into a warehouse of sorts, but it is empty. There isn't a single crate in the area -- just dust and insects, along with a large, ceiling light that flickers on and off, despite being daytime still; if the midday sun outside is any indication. The metal doors are unhinged, and he can see the crummy, sandy environment outside. Unlike the rundown and dilapidated, almost cyberpunk-like city from before, it seems as if he's in the middle of a desert.
There isn't a single clue...
...Or so it appears. Tetsuya does not know where he is, but he begins to search.
The place is empty, but there are marks. There always are -- and it is his job to find them.
He scours the floor first. Whoever apprehended him has erased all evidence that could potentially lead to them -- stray hairs, lint... Without a full team working to gather the possible traces of DNA left behind, there is no way Tetsuya will get anywhere by staring at the ground.
So he continues. He presses his gloved fingers onto the smooth, cold floor. If he can't test for fingerprints, then it won't matter if he smudges over places his attacker could have touched.
'I won't leave a single speck of this area uninvestigated,' Tetsuya thinks as he glances off to the side.
...
...?
There's something there.
It's barely visible, but it is undeniably there. Eyes narrowing, Tetsuya inches towards it slowly.
There is a very, very subtle shift in the ground. A trap sensor, a bomb trigger--
--it could be anything.
But Tetsuya did not get his fame from being a coward, and he isn't about to start now. Sucking in a breath and then exhaling, he pushes down gently.
He hears a click--
--and then, the irregular expanse of concrete dips downwards ever-so-slightly, before retracting.
A hidden trapdoor.
Inside it is a small compartment--
--but before it even opens, Tetsuya already knows what is inside.
He had realised the very moment that the concrete moved--
--after all, it is nearly impossible to hide the scent of a rotting corpse...
...Even if it is just a head.
