After lots of exploding, he exploded into one that mother and a few of his sporelings were chillin and mother saw his face and all of a sudden memories flooded back and she was like,

"It's You."

And mumbo who also got flashback and is now scared for his life was like,

"I-it's you.."

An alchemist, elf and vampire walk into a bar - Hermitcraft season 9 designs

Everyone's special object/ accessory:

1) Grian - a weird book he found, author is unknown but he has his suspicions based on the initials inside

2) Scar - magical cane that allows him to walk freely, sometimes even without it. The way it works is a mystery

3) Mumbo - a sun umbrella with a redstone crystal. Based on an umbrella from Nightmare Before Christmas

Some thoughts behind the designs:

1) Grian - I wanted to really lean into the alchemist vibe, gave him potions and what not, some steampunk glasses. The main thing is his wings - they are based on troglocladius hajdi a cave bug suspected to be the first one flying blind

2) Scar - went all in with the elf part. Gave him a lil pouch for elf cookies. Wings are based on a monarch butterfly and regal fritillary. Did I go for those because of the fancy sounding names? Why yes, yes I did

3) Mumbo - this time I didn't choose a specific animal just went "vampire dude with bat wings". Now, is it blood or redstone on his hands and in the vials? Who knows, definitely not Mumbo. He also has a gunpowder bag next to his belt

hermit species headcanons: volume… 2!

i made this post two years ago when i was fresh to the series and was just getting to know the hermits. a lot has changed since then, but a lot has also stayed the same! my headcanons are getting refined every single time i talk about them, so chances are, this list won't even be accurate to my thoughts a year later.

with that being said, let's get started! click the cut to read them all

bdubs: glare! small, hates the dark, is a feral creature, will never let go of the moss. he and pungance were born from the same tree in the same patch of moss so they are brothers LMAO

beef: vampire! but not a full one. he was bitten by a bat and gained two vampiric traits exactly: fangs and sensitive skin. beef thinks his tendency to get sunburnt easily is just something in his code or a genetic condition. he never got it checked.

cub: alien shapeshifter! his original form is this shapeless void blob, and he can only copy how other beings look like. his forms were taken from two astronauts he saw in space, an old man and a young man. his void form can be seen slightly on his inner arm, where there is just a sliver of night sky hanging out

cleo: zombie (duh) cleo was permakilled by a witch's curse but when faced with the pearly gates they were like. nah. i'd rather be down there. and just straight up left and came back as a zombie. that's how she met joe. because he was sitting on top of her tombstone eating a sandwich

doc: originally a fae, but now he's super fucked up? what can i even say. he was a fae who got super interested in the sciences and started experimenting on himself just for the hell of it. there was that whole dinnerbone cyborg arm thing but he also managed to make himself a centaur form that he uses for extra storage and height. nobody knows where the creeper came from. was it from his dad's side? did he give it to himself? not even stress, his cousin, can tell you how he came to be. what the hermits DO know however is that he can steal pronouns by asking for them

etho: redstone deity! etho was an ancient builder who was executed for witchcraft upon his discovery of redstone. he was resurrected by the universe as a second chance and to spread his knowledge to the world. you can read more from my fic here ehehehehe

false: human! yes she is 100% human. i just thought it would be funny if such an awesome and skilled fighter was just some normal ass human with a bit of social anxiety

gem: forest spirit! she has nature powers and can change parts of her body to reflect parts of nature. she's a deer? an elf? nope! only sometimes. she can mix and match whatever traits she wants on any given day. but be careful of those deer legs and horns. they Hurt

grian: red macaw avian! he has bird feathers covering his ears, parrot wings, and bird talons! he is also able to mimic voices perfectly (which he uses to play pranks and swear in other hermits’ voices) and is a Hollow Boned Menace. he carries a lot of bird tendencies, like being a piece of shit or preening his friends’ hair when it’s too messy (which is always). in start of seasons, he has x lock away usage of his wings to keep himself from an unfair advantage. he also has stolen powers from the watchers, which he can use to change his wing colors or view the entire map from afar.

npg: ????????????? he’s supposed to be a robot, but he has wings and flies sideways?????? he’s somehow even more fucked up than robot grian. not even grian is sure of what he created tbh. he just knows he did NOT give npg those conure wings to begin with.

ariana griande: galah avian! she is grian's cousin who is a pop star. she has never actually been on hermitcraft before -- that was grian cosplaying as her.

hypno: human warlock! he accidentally made a pact when he replaced his tooth with a piece of cursed gold. jokes on his patron though, his faulty human memory can't even remember how he got his powers! he has lots of inscriptions as tattoos written in galactic just all over his body that he completely forgot how to read at this point and is immortal. maybe that's a bit bad for his sense of self-preservation

impulse: demon/imp! he used to be a gargoyle that dispensed candy, but a wizard passing by granted him life and well. now he's here! demons are actually underworld spirits that punish permadead players who have been genuinely horrible to the players around them, but impulse wanted to build houses and play with redstone instead of stirring the torture soup. so when he met skizz he decided hanging out with the players was the best thing to do. he also used to have larger horns and wings but his time on the surface has made his wings very tiny and unusable without the help of an elytra. skizz always teases him for this.

iskall: cyborg! the hermits don't know if he was fully human before the cyborgification. me, personally? i think it would be funny if she was actually built to protect a village but had too much of a personality so the villages just let him go have fun with the players. not sure if i want to adhere to that though

jevin: slime! certain slimes have evolved to be more like players. jevin is from the blue variety (that's his gender)

joe hills: ???????? void-born universe being??? joe is actually the oldest living being in the universe. he was just popped out of void (even predating the void gods) and spent all this time just doing whatever fuckall was around to do. he looks like a normal human being but just Slightly to the left, like his a bit-too-many teeth or slight lean when he stands. other than that, he acts like any other human!

joel: human mage! he actually only has powers of illusion that changes only how he looks. he Really wanted to be an orc but the spell couldnt last forever (as his fae wife lizzie found out after marriage). every day he wishes he had as much swag as shrek did. more on the headcanon here

keralis: weird fucking eldritch cryptid being? except he looks exactly like a human. nothing weird about him, nope. just don't look too closely at his eyes. he promises that he blinks like a normal person and not with his pupils.

mumbo: robot! with a core heart and stretchy limbs, he runs mainly on the consumption of redstone and occasionally typical foodstuffs. he had a creator before the days of hermitcraft (who originally built him as a war machine but something went deeply sideways during construction) that taught him all there is to know about redstone and the outside world. he also inherited the british accent and mustache from his creator. his creator did want him to be free and wiped mumbo's memory of his creation before setting him off into the overworld and letting him roam free. now he's just a silly guy!

grumbot: robot! he was first built to give suggestions on what to do with the mayoral elections but then he developed actual attachments to his horribly neglectant dads </3 but it's alright! he now chills with renbob and goatman up in the hermitheus

pearl: moon spirit! she was the moon from a player's hardcore world. the player used to talk to the moon for fun, but suddenly disappeared from the world one day. now feeling lonely, pearl took a humanoid form and descended to find where her player went, but she ended up discovering the joys of being a player herself. contrary to popular belief, she had no influence on the season 8 moon.

ren: weredog! can shapeshift into a dog form, which he usually uses to either run fast or play fetch. he’s also more prone to change when the moon is larger…. except he just becomes a hyperactive dog who chases his tail all night and is deeply embarrassed by it. he also probably has rabies, but everyone whom he has bitten probably already had something deeply wrong with them to begin with anyway

renbob: human...? he's related to ren from the human side, or at least that what he tells people. but he might as well be 50% weed by now

scar: human(?) wizard! he can fly, subtly change his physical appearance, cast spells, and do all sorts of magical shenanigans! he also can read galactic fluently, which is how he learned that hypno enchanted himself with loyalty at some point. jellie is his beloved familiar. also he's a capitalist. nobody knows where that came from

skizz: angel! why are there angels in minecraft, you might ask? some people are satisfied with their lives and let themselves permadie. skizz, after being born randomly from an angel statue (i wonder if it’s related to the other statue guy) was supposed to be one of the angels who helped escort players to the pearly gates, but he met impulse while his demon clan was taking a field trip to heaven. the two immediately became besties and skizz begged the universe to let him join the players. the universe begrudgingly agreed and now he's here! he hides his many other halos as ring tattoos on his arms as well

stress: fae! she's got fairy powers, magical swag, an affinity for flowers, and will beat you up if you assume she's the resident server cleric.

tango: ex-blazeborn! he saw some yummy packed ice and ate it, which extinguished his internal flame. his blazeborn tribe felt bad for him but knew it would be dangerous if he stayed, so tango just left for the overworld instead. he tries to convince people that he is 100% a human and not suspicious at all because he's embarrassed of having to explain that he lost most of his powers due to eating some yummy ice cream. a more detailed post about my headcanon can be found here

tfc: human! the only non-human aspect of him is a prosthetic leg. contrary to popular belief, he did not lose that leg while mining. it was after fighting a horde of skeletons. (he won)

wels: human. he's just a human. nobody believes him when he tells them because they've seen him accidentally level a building while sparring before. but nope. he's just a human. and a very fucked up one at that

hels: ???? techncially has the traits of wels, beef, and etho????? is there a species for evil clones created by copying machines or

xb: guardian! he was a guardian made to guard the magical treasures of ancient builders, but he got bored of staying in the same spot for centuries and his creators never returning. hypno casted a spell of bipedelity on xb, so now he can walk on land! i wrote a fic about it here too

xisuma: voidwalker! created by the young void gods, he was made from a fucking mspaint file where the void gods dicked around with the program and made a deeply fucked up being (him) on accident. he has no mouth, his hands are as black as the void, and his voice is terrifying without a modulator, which is why he wears a helmet. more about it in my fic here

evil x: also a voidwalker, but this time the void gods pressed random on a picrew and sent him out into an alternate dimension. he grew up in super england until x fished him out of the void. this little rascal has red scleras, ram horns, and a devil tail. he doesn't need to sleep, so he gets all his energy from eating, which is convenient because his sharp teeth can crunch anything and he can digest everything. his hair acts like an enderchest with a portal to the void, where he keeps snacks and various trinkets.

zedaph: human, but he’s not sane. i mean look at this guy. look at what he’s doing. nobody knows how he became so deeply fucked up but he's truly just Like That. he gave himself sheep features once on accident though

worm man: surprisingly, human. he's lucky to have stayed human for this long with his brother's insane experiments. accurate to popular belief, he has no superpowers.

Ive been designing some hermits during my finals! Some headcanons and rambling under the cut

Gem is a satyr, fey of seelie court. She really wants you to thinks shes an elf, she says shes an elf, she does not look like an elf but I would not argue with her. Leaves on her antlers change with the seasons and somewhat mirror her mood, if shes sad for a long time they will start to wilt etc

Pearl is... Pearl. There are a lot of different versions of all the hermits, different universes, theres only one Pearl. She has some strong shapeshifter abilities and likes showing them off when possible. Her and Grian are basically siblings and especially like to use their shapeshifting abilities to fuck with people, especially by swapping places.

Impulse is a demon, imp in particular. Him and Tango have known each other for a loooong time, Tango would sometimes summon him to have someone to play with and Impulse got attached. Does not posses that many special abilities and his friends love to summon him at random times to annoy him. You can make some angst out of this!

Mumbo is... Mumbo but not in a way Pearl is Pearl. Pearl knows full well what she is, she will just not tell you or what she tells you will vary depending on her mood, Mumbo meanwhile HAS NO CLUE WHATS GOING ON He suddenly gained shapeshifter abilities in s8, ha may be a vampire, he should have died a long time ago from all the redstone he consumed. Grian started a poll on what he is and the most popular answer rn is "what happens when you get raised by the hermits"

Scar is a vex, unseelie fey (the same with Cub). He uses both a walking cane/staff and a wheelchar, depends on the day hes having. He generally uses his vex abilities more often than Cub but since he doesn't have a summoner and uses his powers so often its weaker than Cubs. Some people would say his charisma is thanks to his vex magic but hes just like that. His magic mostly manifests as illusions, especially on himself. Does this mean all of boatem except for Impulse can change their appearance? Yes. Have they used it to fuck with the whole server?

Grian is mostly a watcher, he got away from them before they could finish his training tho. Most of my headcanons about him and the void stuff on Pearl and Impulse can be found here

He had some hang ups about his abilities until he discovered he could use them for evil (being the local menace). As thanks for all the help he got from Mumbo he gave him one of his fethers. Given that theyre not really feathers but rather void it changes with Grians use of his abilities, mostly by switching colors to match Grians wings. His s9 wings are based on a red-rumped swallow

Note

Very long + subjective hc; each of the hermits smell different; for doc its petrichor and ash; like the first rain over charred earth, bdubs, on the other hand, smells like fresh-cut grass and sap.

Redstoners carry a distinct smell that is somewhat reminiscent of ketchup chips, or battery acid, or sour candies... everyone makes up a description for it as they go, and sometimes it changes. If the redstone is activated it also smells different.

Other distinct hermit scents:

Etho - pine trees and nutmeg, along with that smell of clothes just after they came out of the dryer. He tries to cover it with the smell of redstone but the homely smell never quite leaves him.

Tango - Half the time smells like sweat and nightmares, the other half he smells like the ocean breeze even if he's nowhere near the ocean.

Xisuma - He smells like redstone, but less pungent. Most admins do, in fact. After all; they do keep the redstone and farms running smoothly...

Zedaph - Always smells like he rolled through a nice grassy patch; and sometimes he sports matching grass-stains. He also smells like ash and occasionally he smells like fire, this is usually because he's on fire.

Scar - Smells like that dream you had last night that you dont fully remember other than the fact that it had vampires... or was it elves? Either way, he smells like the lost dreams you once kept dear to you, as well as your childhood! As a result, his scent isn't the same for everyone. Ren thinks he smells more like citrus, while doc says its a smokey scent.

Feel free to debate the scents I just used some of our DID sys headmates as a frame of reference, so none of these are correct or incorrect lol-

Do you guys want a headcanon/ personal c!Grumbo lore dump? no? okay here It is!!

starting off with my silly guy for obvious reasons- Grian. quick warning i pour a ton of myself into him as a hyperfeminine fat trans man💕

Grian - Avian. Big ol' birdy bird. no set species, he does whatever. TRANSGENDERED. Trans Man Grian owns my life, and this plays jnto my Ariana stuff too btw. Grian doesn't want top surgery, but he's been on T pretty much ever since he joined Hermitcraft, like mid to late s6 he asked X if it was possible to do that for him. He's gotten waaay more confident since then. also he was a scrawny lil guy when he joined HC, but once he got comfortable he let himself heal (no more watchers) he became the fat little rat bastard I know and love. /aff Grian has fibromyalgia! He's an ambulatory wheelchair user and otherwise Mumbo carries his cane around for him just incase he needs it. (it's the colour of Mumbo's eyes. Grian won't tell him, and Mumbo will never know unless told since he can't see his own reflection.)

Ariana Griande was a persona he grabbed up pretty early on in his Hermitcraft career, and nobody except Mumbo, Scar and Gem know that that's him. He very much enjoys playing the part of Ariana every so often and wearing the tight hot pink outfits she does! When he's Ariana he doesn't mind using she/her btw.

CuteGuy is a very recent persona hes started playing. The cute superhero and sidekick to HoTGuy- they know eachothers identities but don't snitch. Mumbo doesn't know that Grian id CuteGuy, and gushes about that 'terribly handsome' superhero to his boyfriend regularly. Both Gri and Mumbo are huge HoTGuy fans and own a good chunk of merch of him. Mumbo does suspect that his Boyfriend is CuteGuy since he conveniently has to go build or farm or whatever whenever another hermit is in need of CuteGuy's help. Grian knows Mumbo's onto him. lol

Mumbo time!! the blorbo

Mumbo! He's a bat slash vampire guy. he's a real fancypants and wears strictly suits and cravats. He does however get it dirty with redstone periodically. His vampire identity isn't a secret- The hermits aren't worried about it since they're aware he drinks from pretty much only Grian. He's also a trans man! Just that he doesn't really use a persona to live out his hyperfemininity like grian, but rather wears dresses, skirts and other feminine clothes whenever he so pleases. He also refuses to get the teta snip, he thinks they look great in his suit jacket thank you very much. He's on T, a fair bit longer than Grian. Also, X knew before Mumbo did that he's trans. hehe. Mumbo WISHES he could eat anything other than Blood because he knows from Scar that his boyfriend's cooking is phenomenal. Also because blood doesn't really get you all that much nutrition which keeps him skinny, which in turn worries Grian all the time because he thinks Mumbo looks like a stick ( a "very hot and sexy stick" according to Grian mind you.) Mumbo has narcolepsy! He's pretty independent even with it obstructing most of his life. But sometimes very short sudden naps aren't too bad (when he's not doing redstone or building. Grian's always around when Mumbo's building up high, just for safety.)

Hermitcraft Headcanons pt2:

Doc:

Doc is a creeper hybrid and he is terified of Jellie

All of the redstone he is exposed to on a daily basis has affected him both physically and mentally

Physically: the redstone unlocked an older trait of creepers, horns!

mentally: after his horns grew in he started to head butt people when he get excited.

Zedaph:

Says sorry to inanimate objects if he hits them

Hes a goat hybrid and is worse than doc is about head butting people with no warning

Pearl:

Moth hybrid! very nocturnal cause of this and like the only time people see her is either very late at night or hella early in the morning

keeps a charm bracelet with a charm for each of the Evo SMP (suggestions for some of them would be appreciated!)

asked Cleo to embroider tiny moons on her Scarland work overalls

Mumbo:

Redstone also fucked with his DNA, I love the idea of redstone turning him basically in to a vampire of sorts

Was convinced by Grian to get his ears pierced neither of them remember when they did it

Another thing that happened to him with the red stone was his body basically developed crones and so potatoes are one of his safe foods.

In relation to this post I started up on a full au and made a little concept sheet!

Grian

Grian, in the public eye, appears to be a simple scarlet macaw avian that likes to make pretty, aesthetically pleasing builds and play lighthearted pranks on his friends. He lives with his best friend, Mumbo Jumbo, the redstone extraordinaire.

And Grian is a Watcher. Very few people know, such as Mumbo, his twin sister Pearl, and Cleo (because Cleo knows everything for some reason).

Behind closed doors, Grian has fallen in love with Mumbo, but will refuse to say so. He and Mumbo have kissed many times, even going quite far with it sometimes, but they never talk about it.

With Grian’s powers, he’s developed a sort of obsession with watching Mumbo when he isn’t at home with Grian. He gets very jealous of anyone Mumbo may happen to flirt with, and becomes very protective of him.

Mumbo

Mumbo is a vampire, and a vegetarian one at that. He doesn’t want to hurt people, so he drinks blood substitutes and eats regular human food, mostly just hoping to live normally. He keeps himself disguised outside of his home, as vampires are one of the most feared creatures in Hermitopia. Mumbo thinks a lot about how people perceive him, so he is always as kind as he can be to everyone around him.

The situation with him and Grian has always been a little confusing. Of course Grian is his best friend, but with the.. activities they get up to, it really jumbles up Mumbo’s perception on relationships. Seeing as he’s never had one, he doesn’t really know how it’s supposed to work. He and Grian never talk about it. Mumbo has feelings for Grian, but he doesn’t know if he’s allowed to feel that way about his best friend. So he stays quiet, and almost desperately tries to get himself to fall for someone else, in case Grian suddenly decides he’s bored of this game he’s playing with Mumbo’s heart.

Scar

Vex. The most dangerous creature known to Hermitopia… they hide in plain sight among the people, posing a huge threat when they’re on the hunt for their next victim.

Vex are cannibals. They don’t eat each other, no no, not that kind of cannibalism. They eat people! They used to eat just humans, but over time, more and more hybrids have begun appearing, so they’ll include those lovelies too. However, some vex may find they are allergic to certain types of hybrids, the most common being avians. Scar himself is allergic to most bug hybrids, like moths or beetles.

Scar lives and runs a business with his best friend Cub, who is also a vex. They protect each other fiercely (i have a whole vex headcanon sheet i’ll post later), and while they’ve never been explicitly romantically involved, they show each other casual affection quite often. They don’t feel any pressure to label it, it’s just how they’ve always been (They’ve both dated other people and agreed that they don’t feel that way about each other, they just like to kiss sometimes. It makes sense to them).

Scar goes out on a hunt one day, wanting to bring someone home for both himself and Cub for dinner. He finds someone walking alone on the path to the village market, and he curiously approaches…

Colorful Scotts - Prompt/Idea

I told you guys, I have a problem-

Anyways, Scott Clones. All are different types of hybrids as a reference to Afterlife SMP. Some are directly from Afterlife (as you will see) but others will be my own idea to fill out the colors.

Scott Clones:

Red - Vampire Scott, material girl, loves blood, confident, has a crush on Solidarity (”You’re gonna take me out? :D”), favorite blood type is Solidarity (just Solidarity)

Orange - Red Panda Scott, loves to sleep, cuddles a lot with the others, shorter than most of them because red panda, will climb in small hidey holes because cute, often with Tango because Tango is warm and red panda likes it

Yellow - Angel Scott, angel of justice, nontraditional angel, you cross him and he’ll make you regret it, has his own rules you should abide by, decorates Tango a lot in glowing jewels because he is more often than not mining for redstone and such, it’s just to help him, he doesn’t have a crush, what’re you talking about-

Green - Mothling Scott, tiny boiiiiiiii, actually hangs out with Vampire Scott the most, loves lanterns, loves Tango a lot because hair glowey like flames and ooooh light-

Teal - Normal/OG Scott, having gay panic because all his clones like Solidarity and he does too but also Solidarity is married to Tango so like what is he suppose to do? little does he know Solidarity and Tango wouldn’t mind a polycule

Blue - Mermaid Scott, underwater, loves to sing, will forget humans can’t breathe underwater because “look at my house :D”, can go on land, but only for a little, has (and will do it again) dragged Tango into the water despite Tango no knowing how to swim, he just wants blaze boy to cuddle with him-

Purple - Ender Dragon Scott, can fly, gets hurt in water, known to hoard things and people (specifically Solidarity), will teleport at random, doesn’t like Overworld food, only lets Solidarity and Tango pet behind his ears

Pink - Fairy Scott, makes flowers when walking in grass, always smiling, loves to flirt with Solidarity because it makes him flush and that’s cute, loves to make flower crowns

White - Cat Scott, obsessed with Solidarity, loves to lay on laps, always tired, purrs and meows, calls himself the “New Norman” as a joke, Solidarity doesn’t mind because loves cats

Black - Demon Scott, incubus to be exact, incubus who feeds off affection in general, doesn’t have to be just sex, physical affection is his love language, feeds off Solidarity and Tango a lot because they have so much love to give and it doesn’t bother them

Ok, this will be a bit long but here is some of my hybrid Headcanons.

GRIAN - AVIAN/WATCHER

Grian is of course, an avian. Typical bird aspects such as wings, feathers, a more bird like lower body, are common place. They usually grow in their wings around 2-6 years old, Grian sprouting his at around 4. Small side note, although wings usually grow along side the person, there are some cases of the wings staying the same size and becoming disproportionate to the person with the wings with Jimmy having this unfortunate aspect. Grian has parrot wings, but since EVO, you can sometimes notice an eye sticking out from the wings so Grian suddenly having more eyes trailing down his neck but the eyes quickly disappearing. He also has a slight bit of clairvoyance, able to predict things a few seconds in advance, but he is unable to control said ability with it coming and going. There’s a small Rumor that Grian has eyes everywhere in the server, both literally and metaphorically.

SCAR AND CUB - VEX AND VEX/SCULK

Scar and Cub are of course, vex hybrids displaying several traits belonging to the spirits. These include phasing through solid objects, flight, an attraction to magical objects and unfortunately, a taste for human (or human adjacent) flesh. In fact, a good portion of the server eats human flesh. It’s best not to inquire about the source. Cub is a bit of a special case as due to the recent “sculk incident” he was infected by the Evermoore’s special sculk strain, the history of said sculk dating back to around ESMP’s first season. This sculk strain is known for it’s parasitic properties and ability to hijack the mind’s of its host altering it to make them obsessive over spreading it’s territory. Although he appears to be fine, it is notable to say that the sculk isn’t gone. What happened was it just became dormant. It’s not dead, but it isn’t conscious. If you part his hair a little, you can see little sculk sensors planted in his skull, not glowing and dormant. Whether they can come back or not is up for debate.

MUMBO - VAMPIRE

Mumbo is a vampire. More specifically, a redstone vampire. Redstone has an innate energy surrounding it, it’s not radiation but isn’t isnt beneficial either. There have been theories that at some point, there has been large amounts of biome with a harmful amount of exposed Redstone lying about and the people nearby were exposed to the energy and adapted to their new environment. This led to the vampires we know today, and what Mumbo descends from. Although he can consume blood to satiate himself, a more common practice for redstone vampires is to straight up eat the Redstone. Of course, they evolved the longer fangs and stringer teeth to be able to tear flesh and possibly rock more easily to get access to their food.

Some Trinity Gate headcanons, mostly based around Daniel, Benji and Sybelle, because I have a headache and this is how I'm distracting myself

When Daniel first visits TG for the first time, one of the first things Benji does is bring up that Daniel is technically his nephew in The Blood, which leads to Daniel nicknaming him Uncle Benji.

Daniel and Sybelle find some solidarity together in the frustration that comes with not being totally sane as a vampire, and the well-meaning but sometimes suffocating attempts of their family to keep them safe and well.

Seeing how much Daniel enjoys playing with models and construction sets, Benji decides to introduce Daniel to minecraft. It still takes Daniel a while to get a hold of modern computer games (boomer moment), and Benji isn't always the most patient teacher, but Daniel eventually gets the hang of it and the two of them + Sybelle create a server so they can play together.

When playing minecraft, Daniel and Sybelle mostly focus on building while Benji does the combat and resource gathering. Daniel is also the only one who can do redstone, which he learnt in an obsessive week of watching youtube tutorials.

Daniel delights in telling Sybelle and Benji funny and embarassing stories of Armand from the Devil's Minion days, at least he does until Armand returns the favour in kind, except he knows where the pictures are kept.

Sometime after Daniel first returns to TG, he, Benji and Sybelle hatch a plan to hunt together one night (lets say they've picked up on a larger gathering of evil-doers ripe for the taking). Armand tags along to ensure their safety and keep an eye on them, and he's all but tearing up watching his children carry out a successful hunt together and it just makes him so proud of how far they've come and what ruthless little predators they've all turned out to be.

All in all, Daniel is the slightly crazy, slightly but unapolgetically cringe nephew-uncle figure I think Benji and Sybelle need

hello aci, critically important midnight lore question. what are everyones (mumbo, scar, grian, and anyone else you would like) favorite chores to do? (cooking, laundry, dishes, etc) and what chores (if any) would they rather dive into life threatening danger to avoid? on the off chance this is a repeat question sorry orz

Oh this is a fun question :o Hmmm

Scar likes cooking, as we know by now, and would rather punt himself into the sun than do laundry (technology is pretty set back in this world so most laundry is done by hand, which Scar despises, but redstone machines are notorious for the redstone failing if the machine gets wet so redstone washers are generally seen as absolute rubbish). He hates how his hands get all pruney and go numb and afterwards they're all dry and stuff from the detergents and he ALWAYS manages to burn himself on the iron when ironing the clothes and he just despises laundry, really...

Mumbo enjoys dusting and sweeping/mopping and organizing things- he finds it calming and gives him time to think- but would rather set himself on fire than put his hands in dishwater. (He is determined to design and make a dishwasher that won't destroy the redstone components but everyone knows redstone + water is usually disastrous...) Dishwater is yucky, we all know this, but he's loathe to waste water by keeping the tap running.

Grian actually likes laundry- his talons means less wrinkly prune-feeling and his talons don't go numb from running the clothes across a washboard, and he likes the sound it makes. Because laundry's a long process at this point (again, pre-machinery, electricity is still relatively new in this world and redstone + water = bad) he likes to do it at a time when Mumbo is still asleep and Scar is either also asleep or working. Unlike Scar and Mumbo, he actually doesn't mind any chores- as long as he's not the only one doing them. Unless it's laundry, he will actively shoo the others away from laundry. It's the one chore he thoroughly enjoys. (Luckily Mumbo isn't overly attached to laundry bc the moment Grian moved in he took over LMAO)

Mmm as for others... Tubbo doesn't like doing ANY chores, but if he had to pick one it'd be taking out the trash- quick and easy. The one chore he absolutely hates, though- the one he would rather go back to Midnight Alley than do would have to be cleaning the bathroom. Scrubbing the sink, the bathtub, the toilet- he despises it. Definitely bribed someone else to do it when it appeared on his chores list for the week when he was a teen.

Cub doesn't particularly enjoy any specific chore (partly because, you know, he's the King's assistant and doesn't DO chores). This man here does less chores than a literal PRINCE (Scar) and LORD (Mumbo) and GOD (Grian) what the fuck

Lizzie is an "all the chores!!" type person but in reality she, too, enjoys cooking and hates washing dishes. Joel is indifferent to chores in general, and would rather help Lizzie cook, but he washes dishes bc Lizzie doesn't like doing it. So I guess his favorite chore is "help Lizzie/make Lizzie happy" 😌

Jimmy and Scott...... absolutely hire someone to come and clean their house once a week. They're old enough to have enough money to rival Mumbo, I think. Not Cleo, but at least Mumbo. All their chores are done at their bakery, and their favorite chore is definitely setup for the next day. Their least favorite chores are wiping down the counters where the dough was BEING prepared (Jimmy) and washing the dishes (pans and mixing bowls and stuff) (Scott).

Cleo... has other people to do chores. She's there to conduct business, manage the Coven, teach younger/newer Vampires, etc, household chores are generally performed by second, third and fourth tier Coven members (Lord's Turnlings/children, Coven Vampires (unrelated to the Lord) and Coven non-Vampires). However if we include the above among her "chores" then her favorite is teaching new Vampires how to... well... Vampire. And she would rather wrestle a basilisk than deal with the fucking Council-

BDubs likes gardening, of course. He loves maintaining the grounds of their Coven house and connecting with his Fae side. He basically helps support Cleo in his day to day life and also highly dislikes dealing with the Council, but I don't think he'd rather put himself in mortal danger than do it

Etho fucks off so much that he gets away with doing pretty much nothing one might consider a chore. Mans is just "peace out *gone*" and the sweeping's still not done. He brings new seeds home for BDubs' garden and unique and new food for the Coven Humans, though- he enjoys that.

Joe is banned from doing chores.

Ren loves doing ANY chore because he makes a game out of it, and often drags Martyn into it with him. Martyn enjoys anything to do with Renchanting and at least tolerates all other chores, but he hates cleaning the bathtub after a full moon because Ren is such a fucking puppy that when he transforms into a feral wolf with no sense of humanity left in him, instead of trying to hunt he demands Play In Water/Bath Times and thE DRAIN IS FULL OF FUR REN WHAT THE F-

Pearl hated sweeping and mopping. She just did, no real reason. She would rather fight god than sweep. Her favorite chore was to run errands, bc it got her out of the Palace for a few hours.

Grim is a typical 14 year old and groans any time you ask her to do anything (but she's also traumatized responsible and does it anyway). She haaaaaates making beds, because sheets just don't cooperate and you have to do them every day and even change them out which means fighting with sheets again and just- yeah.

grian using glyphs to fight is gonna be so cool!! there was a point in time where i was super obsessed with the moral instruments book series by cassandra clare (if you know it) and it made me fall in LOVE with the concept of magical symbols, so this is extremely exciting EEEEEEEE

I really love grian being almost like. “the voice of reason” when scar and mumbo lean too much into monster vs human. because it’s more nuanced than that. people are more complex than that

Hermitcraft Headcannons

LONG POST

Since I’m apperantly writing a fanfic now I figured I might as well list my headcannons for the hermitcraft members personas + Timmy.

I have not had the time, energy, or attetion span to watch all of the hermits so quite a few of these are based solely off of other fan interpertations I have seen. There’s also some hermits I do not know what to do with who are excluded from this list.

This list starts out very Grian focused due to the fact he introduced me to the hermits as well as the fanfic I’m planning being centered around him and Timmy.

Timmy - Caridinal hybrid, was a listener but after Grians escape was taken to replace his brother. Related by blood to Grian, non-blood related to Pearl

Grian - Was born human before being taken in by the watchers and being forced to become one, after escaping he dyed/coded his wings to look like a parrots and claims to be a parrot hybrid. Related by blood to Timmy, non-blood related to Pearl.

Pearl - Moth hybrid, escaped evo alongside the others and spent a few years searching for her brothers before finding Grian in Hermitcraft and joining him, spends season 9 researching the watchers in hopes of getting Jimmy back. Adopted sister of Grian and Timmy.

Mumbo - Born a human, turned into a vampire at the beginning of season 8 and spent that season not killing in an attempt to deny his new hybrid-status. Is the person who orginally found Grian and brought him to hermitcraft.

Scar - Vex hybrid who likes to pretend they’re an elf, has unspecificed medical issues (I am not going to try and diagnose scar) that affects his walking abilities, often uses a cane or wheelchair to get around. Jellie is his emotional support animal.

Cub - Vex hybrid, big brother energy. He’s the second oldest hermit, however thanks to a de-aging experiment he’s physically one of the youngest.

Iskall - Dwarf, lost an eye while doing redstone. Is often mistaken as Impulse’s brother.

Impulse - Dwarf, had difficultlies growing a beard so he’s super upset whenever it gets cut. Often mistaken as Iskall’s brother.

Gem - Deer-fey hybrid, has a deep connection to nature, hence her tendency to build naturey things, is able to manipulate plants.

Bdubs - Everyone thinks he’s a fey, is actually just some random dude. Scared of the dark, hence the very strict sleep schedule, and wears moss because it’s very comfortable. Also for some reason everyone keeps letting him put people into positions of power.

Doc - Born a creeper hybrid, was experimented on causing him to be a spliced creeper-goat-cyborg hybrid. Wears a lab coat because it makes him feel in control of what happened to him, and despite apperance is the sweetest person you will ever meet.

Ren - Wolf hybrid, has a very large family made up of different characters he has played (renbob, the red king, etc), due to his wolf hybrid status he has seperation anxiety

Etho - Enderman hybrid, has always hid his face due to his anxiety (same) but after recieving a scar that covers 2/3 of his face he’s even less willing to remove his mask.

False - Eagle hybrid, is super sweet but will nto hesitate to fight you if you so much as look at a hermit the wrong way.

Stress - Flower fey, resident healer and grower of plants, is terrible at taking care of herself.

Cleo - Born human, became a zombie hybrid after a funky respawn that healed her bit failed to revive her. Is sensitive to the sun, though is able to stand in it for short periods of time, survives off of raw meat, is the go to for new clothes and surgerys thanks to her mastery of stitching.

Joe - Human, no one is convinced. Isn’t great at being social, but loves hanging out with cleo because he feels as though she gets him.

Jevin - Slime hybrid, is naturally green but uses dye to make himself blue in an attempt to differ himself from the hostile mob. Without the human skeleton that resides within him he is unable to maintain his shape.

Keralis - Resident eldritch horror, sweetest man alive, will trap anyone who hurts his friends in the void.

X - Voidwalker, needs his armor to breath the overworld air, really good at over working himself, does not have a shadow.

Ex - Shadow-voidwalker, used to be X’s shadow, isn’t nesscerily evil but has people issues due to be cast out by the person he used to be bound to.

Zed - Sheep hybrid, always wants to know more about the world around him

Tango - Blaze hybrid, cannot get wet, cannot withstand cold weather, cannot be burnt, his hair is made out of fire and grows or dwindles based on his current emotions, a terrible liar

Not included in list; XB, Wels, Beef, and Hypno. Tfc also isn’t included, as I’m unsure how I feel about alluding to him in fanfics following his passing, so out of respect I won’t pretend he doesn’t exist but I also won’t be including him in headcannons or fanfics. May he rest in peace.

Based on this list alone guess which hermits I have and haven’t watched. If this gains any traction I’ll follow up with my headcannons on hermitcraft as a server, as well as the fanfic idea I have at the moment - it is in the very early stages of development, but I live off of validation and feedback so I’ll probably post ideas for it regardless.
