On the 12th hour of the first day of october 1989, 16 woman around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of this woman had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire abd advebturer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.
He got eight of them....

The Sparrows heard the alarm. A emergency. N⁰2 sighed as they put their cigarette in the ashtray. They hid behind a corner. "What are you talking about? This is the Umbrella Academy." N⁰2 heard a women voice. The clowns in the foyer all looked up where 6 of the Sparrows stand. Ben stepped foward and every of the clowns looked shocked at him. "Dad, who the hell are these aseholes?" "Shit" "Ben" The on e with to cowboy head said. "Booh" N⁰2 ran up behind the clowns. They all turned their head to the sound. It was the moment Viktor Hargreeves soul lost his body.
Jane Miller stand there.
"Jane" Viktor said. Jane ran up to Ben. "Why do this two clowns know our name?" Jane whispered to her brother who just shrugged. "Who are the weirdos on the balcony?" Diego yelled. "They are the Sparrows. My children. " Reggie told him. "I'm sorry. What do you mean, your children? That's not possible, old man." The kid said. The other Sparrows coming down to Ben and Jane. "Everybody else can see Ben and Jane, right." The cowboy asked. "Cute hat, Sindance." "Who are these vilage guys, Dad?" Jsne said. Viktor cringes on these sentence. "They call themselves the Umbrella Academy, a group of scheming, perfidious malcontents who accosted me in the fall of 1963 when I was away on business in Dallas. Be warned, they claim to becmy spawn." Jane chuckled. The black hairied woman step foward to Reginald. "Claim? Look, Five, whar the hell is going on?" "I don't know yet, but it's concerning." "Is he telling the truth?" "Not the part about us being perfidious." Viktor said while looking at Jane. "No, we're amateur-fidious, at best." Klaus said. "But we are his children. This is our house." "Yeah, yeah. We, uh.... We grew up here." Luther tried to help Viktor. "'Yeah, we grew up here'" Alphonso mocked him. His siblings snickered. "I kind of think we would have noticed you." Sloane said. "Hi. I'm Luther." He said as he noticed her for the first time. Jane looked disgusted and meet Viktors gaze. Both looked at each other quite awhile. They didn't heard anything their siblings said anymore.
Ben nudged Jane shoulder and she broke the gaze. "You got 30 seconds to get out of our house." Marcus warned them. "And if we don't?" Allison snapped. "Then we'll have to settle this the old-fashioned way." Jane warned. "Look, we just fought a literal army and lost somebody very important. Okay? This doesn't need to get ugly. Let's all just calm down, and let's talk." "Or what?" Jane snapped. Klaus stepped further and further to Ben and Jane. "Shut your mouth!" "You two shut your mouths and just hug your brother and bestfriend--" Ben hit Klaus in the face. "What the hell? You didn't have to do that!" Luther yelled. "Oh, I'm pretty sure I did!" Ben yelled back.
And everything started to escalate. Marcus vs. Luther Christopher vs. Diego Ben vs. Five
"I don't wanna fight you!" Viktor yelled to Jane as they fought. "But I do" She smirked. And they started again. "Aww. You wanna be bestfriends with her/him?" Fei said as she joined you and fought Allison while Alphonso and Sloane were watching y'all. You kicked Viktor with your foot in the face, so he fell on the ground. Now you also stand by them and watched Fei and Allison fight. "Should I step in and help?" Sloane asked. "Nah. She's making a point." Alphonso answered.
Tumblr media
Viktor stands finally up now. "Oh looks who finally stood up." Jane said as Sloane stood. "My turn. I'm sorry, J" Viktors chest got blue then his whole body. But before anything could have happened, Sloane put him with her power in the air and pushed him away. "Art snob, huh?" Sloane yelled after him. "So why does she/he called you 'J'?" She asked Jane. "I'd love to know. Maybe some crush or something." Jane shrugged and ran away from them.
Jane was now in big living room with the other Sparrows. "See? Bigger isn't always better." Marcus said as he kicked Luthers ass. He stood on the couch table. "Is that what you tell your girlfriends?" Luther wanted to kicked Marcus from the table, but he could jump in the right moment and kicked him in the face. Luther fell. "Thai good for dinner?" Fei suggested. "I could go for pad see ew." Ben said. "Yeah I'm in Marcus, Jane, Thai?" "Yeah why not." Jane answered Alphonso. "Why are you even asking him? He hates Thai." Ben said. Marcus stand again in the near of Luther. "What? Since when?" Alphonso asked. "Maybe since forever" Jane answered. Fei sighed. "Fine. Italian?" In the backround Marcus and Luther fought again. Until Luthers laid on the ground. Marcus were about to finish him of as Viktor came to Luther. "Luther" The Sparrows looked at him. "Vanya" cracked Luther. "You again. Haven't had enough, or what?" You yelled/ snapped to him. Sloane came behind him and put again with her power in the air. Meanwhile Luther stood up. "Luther, go! Get out!" With that he left and Sloane turned Viktor in the air several times. After a while she pushed him down.
Viktor laid on the ground and the Sparrows looked down at him, smiling. "I'm sorry" He looked to you before his body got blue again. 'Why does she/he still keep apologizing and calls me J no one does' Jane fought before they got pushed away from blue energy. Jane groaned in pain like her siblings. They all stood up and tried to catch their breath. Viktor laid still on the ground and whimpered. Something inside of Jane wanted to go to him and comfort him but she didn't know why. Marcus stand in the balcony. "It's over." Viktor turned to him. "Go. Don't come back." With that he left the room, but not before he looked to Jane. "He said go, creep" Ben said.

☂︎ZEROᵗʰᵉ ʳᵉᵈ ᵘᵐᵇʳᵉˡˡᵃ
(The Umbrella Academy x Sibling! Adolescent! Reader)

sᴏɴs ᴀɴᴅ ᴅᴀᴜɢʜᴛᴇʀs
─━━━━━━⊱☂︎⊰━━━━━━─
ZERO WAS OBSERVING HERSELF in the mirror imagining what her day would be like this morning. The change in the weather already had her feeling gloom, but she didn't really expect much from today. It was probably just going to be just like every morning, or so she thought.
Seconds later, Pogo came in, gently, through the door. "Miss Y/n, Luther, and the rest of your siblings are here." As soon as those words fell out of the chimp's mouth she froze as if she didn't know how to process what he just said. She couldn't believe it. Zero didn't think that they would even attend. After how so Sir Reginald treated them, this must be some kind of joke. Once Zero fully processed what was happening, she positions herself around and raised an eyebrow. "Why hadn't you told me they were coming before?"
"I wanted it to be a surprise." Pogo smiled gently at her before walking up to fix the tie on her uniform. Once he was done tying it, he looked at her with his big brown eyes. "You'll do fine. Just talk to them." Zero nodded in understanding, eyes furrowed. "I see....... and Pogo?
"Yes?""You don't have to call me Miss. I'm not quite grown up, as you can see."
"Well, I think you've grown to be a mature young lady," Pogo said smiling.
"Too bad Mr. Hargreeves didn't think so." Zero thought as she walked out of the room.
~☂︎~
TO SAY THAT SHE WAS nervous was an understatement. It had been forever since she had seen any of her siblings at all, including Luther. A bead of sweat rolled down the side of Zero's head in anxiousness. Within every step she took getting closer to the living room, the feeling of her throat closing up came with it.
When Zero arrived in the living room, the first person she saw was her bulky brother Luther along with Diego, Allison, Klaus, and Vanya. They had all looked so grown up. It almost made Zero envy for how mature they had gotten.
"Zero has arrived." Pogo announced causing the five to have their eyes zapped straight to Zero. Vanya was the first to walk up to her with welcoming arms. "Zero." Vanya went over to hug her, causing Zero to back away trying to contain her abilities from being triggered. "I'm sorry." Vanya apologized as she backed away.
"You came back." Zero said, putting what had just happened aside. She was just overjoyed and slightly overwhelmed to see her family again.
"I told you I would come back." Vanya shyly smiled, running a hand through her dark brunette hair. The next person to the conversation was Klaus.
"Oh my, Zero! Well I'd say you don't look a day over..... Since I last saw you!" Klaus said acting surprised but was just really being a tease."Some family reunion, huh?" Zero slightly rolled her eyes at him. "Go on, M-I mean Zero. Go sit by Luther." Pogo held his hand out in the direction of the couch. As Zero made her way over to the couch, she tried to avoid eye contact with her siblings in pure shyness.
"So do you come out of your room now or is it just for stupid occasions like these?" Diego asked, clearly annoyed.
"Diego." Allison warned.
"It's fine." Zero said quietly, voice barely above a whisper. As soon as she said that Klaus's eyes widened.
"Wait. She can talk now?"
Klaus asked, but everyone just ignored it as a question.
"Why am I always the last to know about stuff?" Klaus groans as he fixes himself a drink.
A pensive silence starts to enclose over the room. Zero understood it was kinda awkward because none of them saw each other in such a long time.
Zero observed her siblings as they had their moments of silence. She looked to Luther who looked the same just as when he had left. With the chimpanzee DNA he took, he had gotten taller. She remembers when they were younger, with him being the leader. She knows Luther tried his best, but Reginald didn't think that was enough. Luther was always the leader, and she could feel how much it always got on Diego's nerves. Those two were always getting into rivalries.
Sh started to feel bad that he's going to realize he went to the moon for no reason. Reginald didn't read his reports at all; and she knew that.
Even though Luther was raised to be the best and most useful, Zero couldn't deny that he went through some trauma. They all did. He was raised to believe he was the best and a leader. Another example of Reginald's bad parenting. And as a result, his ego is still here, as Zero noticed. He's the only one that still cares for his father, while Zero just doesn't know how to feel after all the things he did to her. They say it's always better to forgive, but Zero just doesn't know.
Luther loved being hero more than anything, she had to  just hope that he wouldn't put that over himself and his family.
Her pupils bored over to Diego. He may be brash, but deep down Zero senses that he's insecure and still wants to prove himself. Still trying to measure up to Luther, even though Diego has become very skilled in Zero's eyes. She still remembers the time when they had first interacted.
~☂︎~
ZERO WAS WALKING DOWN the hall with Reginald's reports in her hand; taking them to him. A thud into her shoulder made every last one of the reports fall out of her hand, but like magic, she reached her hands and the reports defied gravity to arrive back into her possession.
"Sorry"
Zero was about to walk away but Diego stopped her.
"W-wait. I heard you in my mind. What kind of ridiculous trick are you playing on?"
"...... I can read minds and feel emotions."
"Well don't do that on me. I-i don't need a weird girl like you looking through my mind." With that Diego walked away, keeping a guard on his mind.
~☂︎~
ZERO THEN PEERS AT ALLISON. She had grown up to be a very pretty girl, as so Zero thought. Allison was always nice towards everyone in the Umbrella Academy. She never once talked bad about anyone behind their backs, which is quite admirable to Zero. How much Allison craved for attention is what she didn't notice.
Then there's Klaus. Still the same rebellious person he is. Zero admires how he can just move on and not dwell on the past too much. Sweet and vulnerable as a boy, and also her other close friend thanks to Ben. Besides herself, Klaus got experimented on by Sir Reginald the most. Through the years he has become not all himself, which awakens her concern for his well-being.
Finally, there's Vanya. Zero learned that she became a writer. She remembers when she sent her book to Reginald, but he never read it. Zero finds herself wondering how her music career was doing. Though in the past she seemed aloof, not want to have anything to do with her siblings, Zero had always watched them from afar, knowing their feelings and insecurities.
But sometimes it would be too much feelings and insecurities.
Zero's thought process was interrupted when Luther began the gathering speech.
"I guess we should get this started. So, I figured we could have a sort of memorial service in the courtyard at sundown. Say a few words, just at dad's favorite spot."
"Dad had a favorite spot?" Allison asked, astonished, an expression of surprise crossing her face along with the others.
"You know, under an oak tree. We used to sit out there all the time. None of you ever did that?" Luther asked, like it was a usual thing.
Not all of us were his Number One, is what Zero thought.
"Will there be any refreshments? TV? Scones? Cucumber sandwiches are always a winner." Klaus asked as he nonchalantly popped a joint, joining his siblings in the living room, drink in hand. Luther's face scrunched up at Klaus.
"What? No. And put that out. Dad didn't allow smoking in here."
"Is that my skirt?" Allison says in tone, referring to the skirt Klaus was wearing. "What? Oh, yeah, this. I found it in your room. It's a little dated, I know. But it's very breathy on the." Klaus motions his hands. ".... Bits."
"Listen up. Still, some important things that we need to discuss, all right?" Luther proceeds.
"Like what?" Diego asked dryly and uninterested.
"Like the way he died."
"And here we go." Diego rolled his eyes, uninterested.
"I don't understand." Vanya mumbles. I thought they said it was a heart attack."
"Yeah, according to the coroner."
"Well, wouldn't they know?"
"Theoretically," Luther explained.
"Theoretically?" Allison asked.
"I'm just saying, at the very least, something happened. the last time I talked to Dad, he sounded strange."
"Oh, Quelle surprise!" Klaus exclaimed gurgling his drink.
"Strange how?" Allison asked.
"He sounded on edge. Told me I should be careful who to trust. Hearing these things made Zero look up from her lap, at Luther.
"Luther, he was a paranoid, bitter old man who was starting to lose what was left of his marbles," Diego said walking over to him.
"No. He must have known something was going to happen. Zero, you must know something. Did he say anything out of the usual to you?" Luther said kneeling to Zero.
".........No." Zero replied, looking back down.
Luther sighed and got back up. "Look, I know you don't like to do it, but I need you to talk to Dad," Luther said referring to Klaus, causing Allison to scoff.
"I can't just call Dad in the afterlife and be like, "Dad, could you just...stop playing tennis with Hitler for a moment and take a quick call?"
"Since when? That's your thing," Luther encourages.
"I'm just not in the right frame of mind," Klaus replied.
"You're high?" Allison exclaims.
"Yeah! Yeah! I mean, how are you not listening to this nonsense?"
"Well, sober up, this is important. Then there's the issue of the missing monocle." Luther said.
"Who gives a shit about a stupid monocle?" Diego said.
"Exactly. It's worthless. So whoever took it, I think it was personal. Someone close to him. Someone with a grudge."
"Where are you going with this?" Klaus asked.
"Oh, is it obvious, Klaus? He thinks one of us killed dad." Diego said, eyes trained on Luther.
"You do?" Klaus said in awe.
"And I already know exactly who is the main suspect is. He thinks Zero did it." As soon as Diego said that everyone's eyes went wide and Zero tensed up.
"No, Zero. That's not-" Luther reached out for Zero, but she backed away.
"Why......do you lie?" That was the last thing she said before walking out of the room, heading for her bedroom.
"How could you think she would do that," Vanya said in disbelief.
"She's a kid, Luther," Diego said.
"You're crazy, man. You're crazy. Crazy."
Klaus, Vanya, and Diego started to storm at the room not wanting to continue with the conversation anymore.
Allison started to walk away too with a disappointed look on her face.
"That went well," Luther said sarcastically. He sighs and settles down on one the couches and rubs his head in exhaustion.
"Master Luther."
Luther's thoughts were halted by Pogo, who walked in; wooden walking stick glued to his paw. Luther had called him in to ask him about Sir Reginald's Monocle which turned to be missing.
"I'm trying to locate Dad's monocle. Have you perhaps seen it?"
Pogo simply shakes his head.
"No, unfortunately I haven't, but I would assume it would be one of his personal findings."
"It's not there... I've already checked." Luther goes silent almost about to give up.
~☂︎~
ZERO WAS IN HER BEDROOM reading the book Ben gave her. She already read it a thousand times, but this book is the only thing she has of Ben. She soon started to hear the music play in the house. She shook her head and kept reading. Zero' started to think about what Luther had said about their father seeming off. It wasn't just him, she also noticed he was a out of character months before he passed. Reginald started telling her more about the world beyond the Academy. Of course they would have their usual sessions, like playing chest or eating breakfast together. Sometimes they would just sit by the fireplace in silence. No lectures, no teachings, just silence.
Zero's thought process was diminished by a Thunder clap and sound clouding her ears, along with bright blue shadowing over her room. Zero decided she would stay in a room since there is no way she was going outside. A blue glint casted her eyes as she just stared in awe at the illuminating glow. It was some sort of a wormhole forming in mid-air. She saw her siblings going out to look at it as well.
"And just what do they think they're doing?"
She saw Klaus coming out with a fire extinguisher throwing it in. She then saw Luther directing them to back away from it. All the Hargreeves just stared at it with the wind ferociously blowing. The unbelievable happened. A small figure fell from the whole. As soon as the person hit the ground, the wormhole instantly closed up.
The siblings started to inch closer to the figure, along with Zero who examined the person with curious eyes, eyes widening at what it was.
It was her missing brother.

Pairing: (Five Hargreeves x Reader)
Word Count: 1.8K
Warning(s): A few swears
Summary: A Five Hargreeves imagine where he sneaks you out of your house to spend the night with him and his siblings at a local doughnut shop.
A/N: In this story I imagine Five to be a bit older. While I am aware he time jumps when he is 13 I can’t see him being interested in having a significant other at that age. Of course you can imagine him how you please, but I thought I should make my idea known as the author. Please enjoy the story.
----------
"Are you sure you can't come with us tonight? I think it'll be fun," Five said as he begrudgingly walked you out of his room so you could head home.
"I think so too but you know how my folks are," You replied as you both descended the stairs. "They barely want me around you guys, let alone sneaking out at night to do so."
Five rolled his eyes, knowing the dislike your parents had for his family to be real. "It's just some harmless fun."
"I know, but they don't see it that way, Fivie," You tried to explain, turning to face him as you reached the entrance of the mansion.
"We can get Allison to rumor them," Five plotted.
"We are not getting Allison to rumor my parents! Are you crazy?"
"Yes," Five answered shortly as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, making you roll your eyes in response.
"I've got to go," You stated bummed, you, of course, wanted to go, but you knew your parents wouldn't have it. You were lucky to spend more than a few hours with the Hargreeves and be dating Five.
"Stay," Five said, moving you closer to him by pulling at your arms.
You smiled sadly at your boyfriend, "You know I can't."
"But- the fuck you looking at?" Five began in a soft tone but quickly shifted once he caught sight of his brother Klaus. Klaus was walking by when he caught a glance of you two, making kissy faces. Five didn't like that.
Klaus said nothing. He merely raised his hands in mock surrender, with a face to match. You did find it interesting that Five still didn't like showing some of his softer qualities to his siblings sometimes, but you knew that's just who he was as a person.
You chuckled at the interaction between the siblings, you then placed a quick peck to Five's lips before telling him goodbye.
----------
A few hours had passed since you left the Hargreeves residence. In that time, you made yourself do random tasks to keep your mind off the adventure you'd be missing. You even succumbed to doing your homework despite it being the weekend.
As you finished up the last of it, you heard a small thud coming from your window. You ignored it, not thinking much of the noise, but then you heard it again and again.
Deciding to check out the repeated sound, you went to your window only to see your boyfriend. A smile quickly appeared on your face. Five smiled as well as he tossed another pebble at your window.
"You're literally throwing rocks at my window," You said with humor once you finally opened the thing separating you and Five.
"Romantic aren't I," Five commented, dramatically outstretching his arms and raising his eyebrows.
"Yeah, sure." You replied sarcastically, causing Five to smile even more. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm busting you out," Five explained spatial jumping into your room. It made you jump in surprise a bit, for Five was previously in front of you but now behind.
"What about my parents?"
"They've been asleep for a while now," Five reassured, shoving his hands in his pocket with a half-cocked smile.
"How long have you been out there?" You wondered out loud, not even realizing your parents had already called it a night.
"Long enough, now come on."
You hesitated, glancing between your bedroom door, Five, and the window. It didn't take you long to make up your mind. "Fine," You said, quickly slipping on a pair of shoes.
You looked to Five ready to try and sneak your way past your hopefully sleeping parents and out of the house. However, Five had other ideas. He outstretched his arm to you, even though you were confused at first you took it.
"Hold on," Your boyfriend instructed, lapping his hand over the one you had placed on his bicep.
Before you knew it, you had gone from your bedroom to your front yard in seemingly no time. Your stomach instantly churned, your body obviously not use to the sensation.
"I think I'm going to be sick," You said dramatically, reaching for your stomach, releasing the tight grip you had on your boyfriend.
"Save it for the doughnuts," Five quipped back, taking hold of your hand and whisking you away from your front yard.
You two hadn't gotten far, maybe to the end of the street when you realized something.
"Oh shit, I forgot to grab my wallet. Can you take me back?" You asked Five, stopping him from walking any further.
"Our dad's a billionaire I think money is the least of your problems," said a sudden voice as an arm wrapped around your shoulder.
You looked over and saw that the rest of the Hargreeves siblings stood there, waiting for you and Five. The arm that was now rested upon yours was Diego's. However, it was speedily removed thanks to Five moving you just out of Diego's reach, eyes squinted.
Ignoring your boyfriend's actions, you asked aloud, chuckling, "What's the most?"
"Deciding what donuts your gonna get," Ben said with a smile before walking in front of everyone else, signaling the start of the late-night journey.
----------
The trip to the doughnut shop was quick. It was called Griddy's Doughnuts. You remember Five and the others mentioning the place in passing, but this was the first time you would be joining them, and you were excited.
You all entered the shop, it appearing more like a diner. The joint was lively, but not too much for a Saturday night. Soft music played from a jukebox, and patrons chatted among themselves. You got lost in the atmosphere for a bit before felling a tug at your waist. Five was directing you in the direction his siblings had walked off to in your temporary absence.
It was a small spot by the windows. The siblings had already moved two tables together as if it was second nature to them. All eight of you sat down in no particular way. You ended up sitting between Five and Vanya and across from Allison.
Not long after you all sat down, a waitress came over; she seemed nice enough; you didn't catch her name though. You were already too engrossed in a conversation with Ben about a book you had recently finished.
You realized Luther had requested the waitress bring an array of doughnuts to the table, not really caring about the flavors. Despite the large number of doughnuts, Luther had ordered, the waitress was not surprised; she was used to the Hargreeves.
Conversations followed, along with doughnuts and laughter. You had never heard so much from the siblings despite knowing them for so long and dating Five for quite a while. You were having the time of your life. It was nice to spend time with your close friends and boyfriend, especially without them at each other's necks. Well mostly.
"So who's going to be the first to puke?" Diego questioned, slinging his arm across the back of Ben's chair.
"Vanya," almost everyone besides yourself said in unison.
"What? No. Don't act like you guys haven't before," Vanya objected, setting the doughnut she had in her hand down.
"Yeah, but Vanya, it's usually you," pointed out Luther.
"Maybe it'll be Five," said Vanya.
"Yeah, right, I've never -," Five began but was interrupted before he could finish his rebuttal.
"Yes, you did. Remember last year when you -," Ben started, but like Five was also interrupted.
"That was one time!" Five shouted, not letting Ben finish his story. You would be sure to ask one of them about it later.
"He's just trying to act cool because (Y/N)'s here," Diego remarked, smirking.
"Oh, I'm not acting asshole."
"Maybe it'll be (Y/N)," Allison interjected, trying to stop her two brothers from arguing any further.
"No way, my baby's tough," stated Five as he tightened the grip of the arm he had around your shoulders.
"Get a room, you two," Luther said, rolling his eyes jokingly.
"Oh, we will," Five challenged, squinting his eyes at his brother.
"I think it'll be Klaus. I mean, look how green he is," like Allison, you changed the target, blushing at Five's statement.
"I'm always this green," Klaus tried to deflect once he heard his name get thrown into the debate.
"Yeah, uh-huh." You said, clearly not believing your friend.
The discussion continued for a bit longer, everyone having their own opinions. You stuck with your guess of Klaus, Vanya agreeing with you. Allison and Diego voted for you since you were the newbie, and everyone else voted for Vanya. After a little more than an hour of banter, you all decided to leave.
Quicker than you all had thought, you got your answers to the puking debate. You and Vanya had won. Klaus rid his guts of the many doughnuts he had consumed in the past three or so hours, causing everyone to look away in disgust.
You said goodbye to all your friends as you and Five left for your home, you only gave Klaus an air hug for safe measures.
The walk at first was quiet; you both content with the silence as you walked hand in hand. A smile was placed upon your lips; it hadn't left since you entered the shop. Five noticed the whole time, and it made him happy.
"I'm guessing you had fun," said Five, interrupting the silence.
"You would be correct," You replied, the smile growing even wider if that was possible.
"I'm glad."
"Thank you for busting me out," You joked, referring back to the words he had used a few hours ago.
"It was my pleasure," Five responded, bringing your hand up to his lips and kissing it softly.
Unfortunately, you had reached your home too soon for your liking. You wanted to spend more time with your friends and Five. They brought much happiness to your life, especially today. You knew you would see them again, hopefully soon, but you knew today would hold a special place in your heart.
Five jumped you and him back up to your room, much like how the night began. Your stomach churned again, but you were a bit more prepared for it, so it wasn't as bad.
"How'd you do that?" You questioned Five realizing you hadn't earlier in the night. Tonight was the first time you had seen him teleport with someone else.
"A little trick I've been working on thought it'd come in handy," Five smirked.
"Handy as in sneaking me out of my house?" You asked, already knowing the answer.
"Exactly."
"We'll have to use it more often then," You smiled, tugging at the tie he was wearing and bringing him in for a kiss.
----------
A/N: Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this imagine as much as I enjoyed writing it. I finished watching season two about a week ago and I have been wanted to write a Five imagine, him being my favorite character. Who is your favorite Umbrella Academy Character? Note
Could you write something where the reader is part of the Umbrella Academy, and she also disappeared when she was around twelve-thirteen like Five did, but when she comes back (at their father’s funeral or a bit later when they’re all there) it has only been a year for her even if the other haven’t seen her in 17 years? And they’re all so happy to see her and she too obviously because she is still a teen and she missed her family and she makes everyone get along again because they love her
a/n: The pronouns are switched to they/them (also this request is so cute)
Return

“So your return had nothing to do with Five’s” Luther asked for maybe the fourth time in an hour “No I would’ve known if my sibling was with me when I time traveled” Five said annoyingly while you stood in the corner of the kitchen pouring a glass of your favorite drink.
Similar to Five you arrived younger but different to Five you were fourteen while he was thirteen. With your ability to create a portal to different dimensions and five running away you thought you could find him and in doing so trapped yourself in an unknown dimension for around a year (a year for you) and when you return home everyone’s 17 years older and Five’s back...
“I promise I’m not involved with Five” you say returning back to the table where everyone else was. “Besides big ol’ luthy needs to give these two youngsters a break” Klause stood up and wrapped his arms around the both of you, five pulling away while you leaned into the embrace, missing such human interaction. “Just know we’re happy to see you” Allison chimed in while Vanya nodded. Diego eyed the two of you in a mix of curiosity and anger, or at least it appeared to be anger, he stood still for a while until he finally spoke “Why now?”
It was a simple question but the answer was the farthest from simple. You didn’t even have an explanation but you hoped Five could answer and take up the time so you could escape and check out the rest of the house, see if it’s changed but probably not, considering who lives (or lived I suppose) there. Sadly during your thoughts Five explained how he got there and everyone looked toward you, awaiting your response. “I don’t really know” you said sheepishly looking at your drink while you swished the contents inside “I got stuck in this weird dimension and after a year I finally made a portal and got back here” you tried to explain before taking a sip to avoid looking toward everyone. “How do you not know” Allison asked you “I don’t know-” you stumbled over your words “-I kept trying to make a portal and finally it worked I don’t know how and I really missed you guys” you started sniffling as you remembered being so lonely and crying some days as you missed your family in that dimension.
“Oh don’t cry” Klaus went to hug you while five squeezed your hand as a sign of comfort. Allison and Vanya joined in soon after while Luther awkwardly stood up and went to hug very lightly, afraid of crushing you. Diego was the last as he came and similar to five pressed a hand to your shoulder and squeezed it gently to comfort you. While Ben being a ghost hugged you but you didn’t feel it.
Your family’s all together now and you couldn’t be happier.

TUA Series Part 3: Luther
The Hargreeves Kerfuffle Part 3: Luther
The Hargreeves siblings x Hargreeves!Reader (Familial Relationship)
BG: The Reader is Number Eight. It follows how you fit into the structure of Season 1 and the family dynamic of the siblings.
This part follows and plays around with the scene when Five had just reappeared and all the sibling are in the kitchen in S1.
I have mashed up the information and some events from both the comics and the tv series.
The series will consist of 10 parts. Where the reader would have a focused interaction with each sibling. (Eg. After this part, it would be Luther x Reader, then Diego x Reader and so on! –Yes Ben is included)
WC: 1028
Contains: The Hargreeves being a mess. Luther being a piece of shit.
DISCLAIMER: I DON’T OWN THE TUA SERIES. THIS IS JUST BY A FAN WOULD REALLY ENJOYED THE SERIES AND WAS INSPIRED TO WRITE.

Five isn’t willing to answer any of your and siblings’ questions until he had something to eat. Which lead to the 7 of you following him into the kitchen.  You were all huddled around the end of the table watching silently as Five gathers for food, blipping in and out of the room.
No one dared to break the moment, still shocked and processing that Five, looking a tad older than you last saw him at 10 years old, but a young looking Five nonetheless, is here right now. Still not exactly believing.
‘What’s the date? The exact date.’ Five asks.
‘The 24th’ says Allison behind you.
‘Of what?’
Allison’s brows scrunches together but replies regardless. ‘March.’
‘Good.’ Five nods and continues adding marshmallow to his peanut butter sandwich, as if his question was totally normal.
‘So…’ Luther clears his throat, voicing out the question brewing in everyone’s mind. ‘Are we gonna talk about what just happened? It’s been 17 years.’
Five huffs, ‘It’s been a lot longer than that.’ Bliping out again, this time in the pantry, no doubt looking for coffee.
Causing Luther to almost jump out of his chair ‘I haven’t missed that.’
‘Where’d you go?’ Diego asks, moving the conversation back on track.
‘The future.’ Five mentions matter of factly.  ‘It’s shit, by the way.’
‘Called it!’ Klaus whispered. You pushed Klaus’ head away, eager to not miss out on anything.
‘I should’ve listened to the old man. You know, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice.’ Five mutters, though more to himself.  The tension in the room is so tense, that even if a needle were to drop, you would still hear it.
Unfortunately for you, you did.
‘get out of the way y/n! i don’t want to see your face anymore.’
Five’s final words came rushing back and so did the pain. It’s been years since the incident, and you’ve convinced yourself that you had made peace with it. But seeing Five back here, in the present, stuck in his teenage self.
Shaking your head, you tried to clear your mind. NO Y/N NO! He hurt you when he left. You shouldn’t fell guilty for him disappearing, it was his choice, his action to do what he did. Taking a couple of deep breaths, you attempted to discreetly brush away the water from your eyes. Which of course, the ever protective, Mr. Hero Complex noticed.
‘heyyy it’s okay.’ Diego whispers, wrapping you into a warm side hug.
‘Thank you Diegs.’  Leaning your head into his shoulder.
‘Wait, how did you get back?’ utters Vanya.
‘In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time.’
‘That makes no sense’ said Diego.
Five couldn’t help but roll his eyes. ‘Well, it would if you were smarter.’
Diego abruptly stands, ready to fight Five- Luther holds him back. ‘How long were you there?’
’45 years.’ That finally made Diego to stop resisting Luther’s grip.  Five smiles into his coffee, noticing everyone’s startled face, he shrugs ‘ Give or take.’
Luther tilts his head, perplexed ‘So what are you saying? You’re 58?’
‘No, my consciousness is 58.’ Five points to his brain, then stands. ‘Apparently, my body is now 13 again.’ To drive the pint home, he flings his arms.  The oversized suit jacket falling to his elbows.
Vanya looks to the rest of you, hoping to see to anyone else understands. ‘Wait, how does that even work?’
‘Delores kept saying the equations were off. Eh. Bet shes laughing now’ Five murmurs, for a second lost in thought. ‘So, heart failure huh.’
‘Yeah. That’s what the doctor-’ Responded Diego.
‘No.’ said Luther firmly.
‘Yes, Luther. Dad died of heart failure whether you believe it or not.’ You interjected. ‘How many times do I have to tell you this, there is no foul play.’
‘Oh yea? Then why is dad’s monocle missing? When we all know that he keeps it with him at all times?? Huh?’ By Luther is rising off his seat.
‘Luther calm down.’ Warned Allison but he brushes her off.
‘Humor me this y/n. Why were you here the day dad died?’ He was now jabbing a finger at you ‘More specifically, HOURS BEFORE HE DIED. CONVENIENTLY PRESENT IN THE SCENE OF THE CRIME.’
Before you could reply, Vanya beat you to it. ‘Are you daft Luther? Did you forget that y/n can SEE INTO THE FUTURE?’
‘I didn’t. But as I recall, you vowed t never step foot into this house ever again and cut all ties! YOU ALL LEFT! YOU LEFT ME BEHIND!’
At this statement, Diego let out laugh. ‘Left you behind? LEFT YOU BEHIND? We were all gonna leave this depressing piece of crap for a healthier life, you were part of it, Luther.’ Staring straight into his eyes. ‘BUT YOU ARE THE ONE THAT RATTED US OUT AND CHOSE TO STAY! SO, DON’T YOU DARE TURN THIS ON US.’
‘Heck yes you all vowed to not come back, but you did- because Dad had died. But don’t you think it’s suspicious that she would come here on her own accord early? Who knows what they could have talked about in his final hours?? She was even the one to inform us! Not mom, not pogo. Her.’ Not daring to break the stare down, Luther called out ‘There is only one way to know the truth…. Allision.’
‘NO, Luther! I am not doing that to my own sister, not after Claire.’
‘FINE, GUESS I HAD TO FIND PROOF THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY.’ With that, Luther turns his back on his siblings.
He pauses next to you and threatens. ‘I swear y/n, I will find out what you did and I would get Allision to Rumour the truth out of you, soon or later.’ On his way out, he had ripped the door out of its hinges.
‘Hmm” Five clicks tongue ‘Nice to see nothing’s changed.’
‘Uh that’s it?’ Allision crosses her arms. ‘That’s all you have to say?’
‘What else is there to say? The circle of Life.’

Requested by anon: “Can you do a season 1 Diego Hargreeves x female reader one-shot where reader is his girlfriend, is a forensic scientist and met him when he was a cop, was born on the same day as him but wasn’t adopted by Reginald and can control fire, and she’s there when he reunites with his siblings after Reginald dies and gives him a comforting hug from behind when he cries and stutters as he turns Grace off? She’s basically a real life firebender from Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
A/N- it’s finally out hope you all like it ❤️ hope you like it too anon :)

———-
“Come on talk to me.” Diego kept pressing on, trying to catch up to you as you rushed to the passenger seat with your arms crossed over your chest, still very much pissed on the stunt he pulled earlier today. Yes, you understood that he didn’t really like his father, but what he did, the fight he got in with his brother was uncalled for and disrespectful. If he wanted to fight couldn’t he have done so any other time? Or at least just have listened to you and the rest of his siblings to stop? “Look I’m sorry, I know it was wrong and I’m sorry, please talk to me.”
You stop in front of the car door with your hand hovering over the handle and meet his pleading gaze to finally speak. “You’re unbelievable, one thing is hating your father but the other is fighting with your brother while they tried to have a nice memorial after they told you to stop! Not only that but you hurt your brother too.”
“It was an accident.” Diego interjected, trying to defend himself.
You huff and open the car door and go inside before slamming it and sighing louder as he climbed onto the driver's seat. “It doesn’t matter—” just before you could say more the sound of Klaus opening the car door cuts you off whilst also making Diego sigh and look away from you.
“Hey! Diego.” Klaus says as he climbs in the back not hesitating to continue, “I’m sorry did I interrupt something?”
You shake your head and mutter, “no.”
While Diego says the opposite. “Yes.”
Not like it mattered, Klaus seemed persistent on staying and switching the subject. “You know every time I close my eyes, I see a diarrhetic hippo about to shit on my face. It’s terrifying!”
Diego starts the car and sighs, “terrific.”
——
“So, how long have you been with Diego?” Diego’s brother, Klaus asks from the back seat, his kid like curiosity lacing in his voice.
You look away from the man you were talking about out by the water and look to Klaus through the rear view mirror. “A couple years.”
Klaus pulls himself off the seat and pulls himself closer to you, “and no ring yet?”
You scoff but can’t help the laugh that leaves you, “no, not yet.”
“Well,” he continues in a serious tone, “I say if he doesn’t propose by this year, just break up with him. Just get rid of the tension he gives off.”
You answer with a lighthearted scoff and leave his comment unanswered. You knew it was just a temporary thing, this “tension” as Klaus mentions wasn’t going to last forever, it happens, Diego has a way to get under your skin more than once, but it never leads to a big break up. You loved that man, the thought of not being with him saddedned you already, you can’t even mention what it would be like without him.
“Yoo-boo, Diego! I hate to rush you through any kind of brooding moment you might be having, but come on man, we’re starving!” Klaus comes back into the car and exhales deeply, muttering to himself or...someone? “I’m craving...eggs.” He clicks his tongue, “no! Wait, it's too late for eggs. Waffles. Huh? You like waffles, right?”
Your lips part in confusion to his quiet muttering, watching him talk to himself through the rear view mirror. “Everyone likes waffles.”
Your eyebrows furrow and you choose to question him even if you were hesitating to actually know. “Uh—”
“Y/N, this is detective patch, we need you to come for work. Gunshots were reported on the 400 block of Milton Avenue, Griddys Doughnuts.”
You sigh but have no choice to answer. Work was work. “Okay I’ll be there.” Opening the car door you like your head out and groan softly before speaking to Diego. “Hey, Diego, could we leave! They need me at work!”
He turns around and you swear you notice a small smug smile. Because of course the sound and idea of doing something he’s not supposed gets him excited.
“Diego, thank you for joining us, we have decided on, drum roll, waffles.” Klaus finally speaks up to an actual existing person.
“I’m gonna drop you off at the bus stop. I gotta get back to work.”
“What, breaking bones and cracking skulls?” Klaus chuckles softly.
“Saving lives, baby.”
You scoff. “You’re going to work?”
His head turns to you and he nods, “we.”
“You’re not supposed to be at crime locations Diego, you’re going to get in trouble one day.”
He shrugs and smiles, “you’ll get me out.”
Rolling your eyes you turn to look out the window and hide your threatening smile right as you also added what you’ve been meaning to say since he came here. “we’ll talk after work.”
——
Truthfully you hadn’t planned spending so much time at work like you did for the past two days, but it was also something inevitable since out of nowhere these nameless people in kids masks have shown up. Causing nothing but trouble and late nights, keeping you from doing the simplest thing like talking to your boyfriend.
At Least you had time now and hopefully those people in kid masks were going to show up to ruin the day.
“Hello, Pogo, is Diego here? He said he was going to be here today?” You ask the...ape at the door.
Pogo nods and moves to the side to let you walk in, “you’re welcome to look for him inside. He’ll be around somewhere.”
You smile and respond with a soft thank you before you walk up the stairs, walking slowly and examining the area, noticing the silence that basked every square inch of this enormous place. Beginning to feel anxious about not finding Diego anywhere you looked, recalling on the phone call from before, not remembering if he said he’ll be here at this house or at your apartment...shoot.
Maybe now that you’re thinking about it he said he was going to be actually home—
“Y/N, you’re finally here.”
Oh good.
Stopping as he walked out of one of the many halls you nod, “finally managed to get out of work, I came here as soon as I could. To talk.”
“Good, come on, we can go to my room.” Diego takes your hand and pulls you with him, guiding you to a small room with nothing really to it but a bed and a couple pieces of furniture, looking boyish as well. You couldn’t help but laugh.
“Wow, it’s about time you brought me to your room. It feels like I’m a teenager again.” You chuckle, “should I sit at the edge of your bed and just awkwardly sit there and look around?”
Diego chuckles and takes a seat on his bed, making you sit beside with the same amused smile that falls as he talks about the subject that had been put on hold. “I want to say I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t have acted like that. I stepped out of line, I should’ve respected the funeral no matter what he did.”
You sigh and interlock your fingers with his, glancing down at your intertwined hands for a brief moment before you met his gaze. “It’s not just that Diego, it’s the fact that you acted like that with your siblings. And I know it’s not my business, but you could’ve hurt him worse than you did and you have to understand that everyone has different thoughts of your father. Yes he may have treated you all the same, but it’s obvious some more than others are more attached. Just,” you inhale and exhale deeply, “just don’t do anything that you’re going to regret, I know you love them and I know if something happens to them you’re going to regret it and blame yourself.”
He sighs and nods, “yeah I know. Thank you for sticking around.”
Leaning your head on his shoulder you whisper, “always.”
He kisses the top of your head before he rests his own head on top of yours, staying exactly in that position for a moment longer until he pulled you to follow him in search for something he didn’t get to explain as you exited out the hall, their in end of the hall were two people in masks.
Of course they had to ruin the day.
The moment they saw you, their guns rose and they began shooting, catching Diego and you off guard for a split second until he threw his knives their way and then pulled you to hide behind a wall.
“Are those the same people running around the city?!” You pant.
Diego peeks head over the wall but answers regardless, “yeah I think so. Stay here they’re coming.”
“What?” You snap in a sharp whisper, “but I can help—” before your sentence was fully finished Diego ran forward and began to attack the one with the bear mask, twisting its arm and taking its gun and throwing it to the aside, beginning to do all types of moves that barely worked since it was such a big person. The only thing that worked was when Diego kicked them back, again taking your hand to pull you with him.
“Hey, you know maybe you could use your fire to attack them!” Diego suggested over his shoulder.
You scoff, “do you want me to burn your house down?”
“Jump!” Out of sudden Diego jumps off the second floor and lands on the couch, waving you over until you do the same. Hearing footsteps approach shortly after the both of you hid behind the couch, hearing shooting moments later they heard the smallest movement and didn’t stop until two others seemed to appear too; punching and kicking them, groaning and grunting as punches and kicks were thrown.
Sounds that finally let Diego and you jump out and help Allison being choked by the person in the bear mask until Luther came and threw them out of the room with ease.
“Who are these guys?” Allison asked in the short moment of peace.
“You’re welcome.” Luther then cut her off to talk to Diego.
“I was doing fine.”
“Oh, yeah, you really had them—”
“Ever hear of a rope—a—dope?”
During the argument the shooting began again and you threw yourself behind a couch, hiding your head until it stopped and you were able to move to hide behind the bar, waiting anxiously for the person who was in here to walk out. Being surprised as you heard, Diego’s other sister, Vanya enter the same room. Her pained grunt making you get out of hiding and throw a fireball at the bear mask; the action distracting them and letting you get Vanya without a second thought to take her to hide close by. Not wanting to do more for her sake.
Waiting in silence for what seemed hours until Luther rounded the corner, looking completely different than before. Almost ape like.
“Y/N! Hey, are you okay?” Diego asked in concern as he came to stand before you, his eyes studying your face and body for any wounds.
Nodding you respond with the same question he had asked. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah.” Diego then presses a small kiss on your lips before he pulls away and his eyebrows furrow deeply on his face. “Shit. Mom.” Without saying more he rushes up the stairs, leaving you to follow even if he didn’t ask. Staying behind nonetheless as Diego approached her and asked her about what had gone on, receiving answers that visibly upset him and made him go quiet for a moment that you took to walk up behind him. Meeting his gaze and grabbing his shoulder as he began to take his mother’s hand and his breath began to shake.
“Diego? What are you doing?” Grace asked as she watched like you were, Diego cut her arm, showing capables that run under her skin and blue thick liquid that spilled out like blood.
“It’s gonna be o—” Diego cried and stuttered.
“Remember what we worked on. Just picture the word in your mind.” His mother didn’t hesitate to interject sweetly.
“It’s gonna be okay…..mom”. He then moves his hands to switch something off inside her, causing the beeping blue lights to stop and her whole body to begin to shut down. Causing Diego to cry harder and you to embrace him tightly from behind, feeling your own tears fall down your cheeks.
“Di—e—go...re..mem...ber.” Not a second to spare later, her eyes glowed blue until they didn’t show at all. Leaving Diego in a stunned and emotional state that he took to grab your arms wrapped around him and cry a moment longer.
You try to hide your crying to assure him, to be the support he needed. But it was hard to be strong when he cried, he usually never did. “I’m so sorry, Diego.” You proceeded to whisper by his ear, kissing the side of his head before whispering again. “I’m so sorry.”

***
You don’t think you’ve ever seen Diego this nervous.
His leg bounces slightly as he drives, eyes straight ahead and knuckles nearly turning white from his tight grasp on the steering wheel. You put your hand on his knee, an effective method you later found out in the early stages of your relationship that proved to be one of the only things to calm Diego Hargreeves.
“Hey,” you smile, “it’s going to be alright. I can handle this!”
Despite how fucking terrified Diego is, he can’t help but chuckle. “Oh it’s not you I’m worried about, baby.”
You give his knee a squeeze. “I know...” you trail off in thought. “Look no matter what happens, it’s still gonna be you and me, okay? Your crazy, super-powered family isn’t enough to scare me away, Hargreeves.”
He grins, a toothy grin that makes him look a little younger than he actually is. “You’re right. Totally right.”
It’s a totally different story as soon as the mansion comes into view.
“Not too late to back out,” he says, turning to you with those puppy dog eyes.
“Oh no,” you shake your head. “We’re doing this so c’mon.”
He grumbles but puts the car in park and sighs heavily. “As soon as they piss me off, we’re leaving.”
You laugh. “Diego, honey, just relax.”
He places his hand on top yours—you almost forgot your hand was still there—and gives it a gentle squeeze. “You’re right you’re right. Time to stop being a little bitch.”
You grin and climb out the passenger side, waiting for Diego as you gazed around the area, a fresh cool breeze brushing a blanket of dead leaves around your feet.
The car door slamming makes you jump, but when you feel the familiar weight of his hand on your lower back and see his hopeful, dark eyes sparkle when meeting yours, it makes your chest light up with excitement.
He doesn’t say anything as he leads you to the front door. Instead of knocking, he quickly opens the door for you and waits until you’re inside to loudly slam the door shut.
“Sorry!” He whispers when you jump and give him a dirty look. “We’re here!” He yells out.
You’re immediately flooded by open arms before you can even process who it is you’re hugging.
“It’s so nice to meet you!” You’re eager and gentle attacker says excitedly, her arms around your shoulders and standing on the tip of her toes in a rather expensive looking set of blue heels—Allison.
“It’s nice to meet you, too,” you hug back. “I’ve heard so many great things about you. All of you.”
She pulls back with a smirk, left eyebrow arched as she turns to Diego. “Great things, huh?”
He returns the smirk with the one you adore, the one that’s mischievous all over. “Well—“
A flash of blue appears from the corner of your eye, stinging them a bit from the intensity. “Ah there you are,” a boy, no older than a teenager, smiles politely at you. “And you must be Diego’s boyfriend.” You nod. “Nice to meet you.”
You reach over and shake his hand, remembering that this is actually an eighty something old man inside a fourteen year’s old body. “It’s nice to meet you too.”
“Hey Five have you seen—oh, hello,” you see the very same word tattooed on the mans hand when he waves. “Finally I get to meet my future brother-in-law.”
He rushes over to hug you before you can react, an aroma of spice and something else you can’t decipher airing off of him and his fluffy choice of clothing. “I’m Klaus, by the way, I’m sure he’s told you I’m the favorite, right?”
“Klaus,” Diego butts’ in dejectedly.
“What?” Klaus pulls back with a hand to his chest, an offended expression on his face.
Before they can begin arguing—Allison giving you a knowing look only a sister can muster and Five rolling his eyes as he zaps back to... wherever—big, heavy steps echo across the open space.
Luther stands awkwardly against the archway, long coat dwindling down to his ankles, doing little to hide the protruding muscle underneath, twirling his fingers. He looks nervous much to your surprise, and probably Diego’s, too, so you carefully walk up to him with a warm smile and stick your hand out.
“Hello,” you tell him you’re name. “And you must be Luther, right?”
He chuckles while nodding his head, shaking your hand with a careful grip—the hair on his palms doesn’t bother you at all, you’ve mentally prepared yourself for all the siblings supernatural powers.
“Yeah,” he confirms. “Hope he isn’t a handful, I’m surprised you haven’t killed him yet.”
“Hey!” Diego says with a low whine.
You chuckle and shrug. “Not like I haven’t thought about it.”
The siblings then join in, until a small voice breaks through. “I think we all have.”
Vanya grins and walks over to you, introducing herself. You hug her tiny frame and tell her how nice is to finally meet the family.
“Agreed, long overdue,” Allison says. “Now we have dinner already prepared, and we can do tours or whatever you want to do after.”
“Yes please, I’m starving!” Five shouts from the dining room.
“Yes that sounds amazing,” you chime with a giggle.
“Great!”
The siblings all head towards the food, and you’re about to follow them when a hand pulls you back.
“You’re doing good, mi amor,” he whispers hotly in your ear. “But you’re gonna get it later for what you said.”
You shiver and fight to control yourself. “Yeah?” You whisper back, making sure your lips are just barely touching his—you revel in the intake of air from him as he holds his stance, not wanting to give in just yet.
“We’ll see about that.”

Life-Weary
Fandom: The Umbrella Academy
Characters: The Hargreeves siblings
Anonymous said: People have been mentioning how Five was the only one who didn’t get a single hug in both seasons, and it’d be nice if he finally got one ;-; But also he’s been isolated for 45 years so he’s probably touch starved and maybe never experienced being tickled before so a sibling helps him with that?? Thank you!
Warning: This fic takes place in season 2 and has some minor spoilers spread out, so don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled!
Words: 4 238
Five hadn’t meant to watch them. Hadn’t even realized he’d been staring until Allison caught his eye, her face peeking out between Vanya’s hair and Klaus’ shoulder, all scrunched up eyes and laughter lines.
She raised her eyebrows, a soft smile that made Five want to flee finding her lips easily. She extended a hand toward him. “Come join.”
Five took a step back. “No, thank you.”
“Five.”
“I’m good.”
Her eyebrows furrowed, smile slipping away as easily as it had arrived. “All right then.” Not entirely offended, but troubled enough for Five to know she didn’t appreciate his answer, or at least the way he’d answered her.
He wasn’t sure why he’d answered her like that. It sounded rude even to his ears, but the reunion had left him snappy; knowing it was his fault they’d all been separated in the first place.
“Sorry, I just-” Not the time or place for confessions, he realized, eyes flying to Diego and Luther. “I just don’t like hugs.”
“Everyone likes hugs,” Klaus said, untangling himself from their sisters to tilt his head at him. “You’ve just forgotten what one feels like.”
“Wait, how long has it been since you’ve been hugged?” Vanya, still not remembering anything despite them having filled her in, looked so utterly sad that Five almost felt bad for himself.
He shrugged. “Years. Whatever.”
“Oh, Five.”
He pointed at Allison. “No. Don’t come closer.”
“I’m not gonna force you to hug me,” she said, sounding actually upset now. “I just wish you hadn’t had to go through that.”
“Can we focus on the end of the world now?”
“Why are you so uncomfortable?” Diego asked, probably to rile him up, but when Five turned to catch his eye he just looked concerned.
“Because we don’t have time, Diego. Focus.”
Diego’s lips twitched, in a sneer or in amusement, but he dropped the subject and Five felt himself relax for a millisecond before some sort of hopelessness washed over him. Stupid, to get upset at other people hugging when the world was ending, but after that moment he found he couldn’t stop thinking about it. Couldn’t stop imagining arms embracing him, pulling him into a chest, a neck, a cheek. He’d never been affectionate, even before the jump. He was grateful for it. Would probably not have survived over 40 years of solitude without that preference.
But.
Well, he was only human. Terribly, desperately, teleportingly human.
“You look distressed.”
He glanced up, caught Allison’s eye. “More like stressed,” he replied, but there was no heat behind his words or his tone. It sounded hollow, which his sister of course noticed.
“Five.” She sat beside him on the couch, far enough to make it obvious she was giving him space. “Talk to me.”
“I’m not much of a sharer.”
“You used to be.” Her bangs were slightly parted, revealing a scowl. “Remember how you used to talk as kids?”
“What are you talking about?” All Five could remember of his childhood was an ever present foreboding and a chaotic group of kids. Always observing, he realized whenever he thought back on it. Never part of the actual memories. But he knew he’d had a good relationship with all of them. If anyone had been simply watching it had been Vanya. Maybe he’d manipulated his memories without meaning to. Doing it simply to survive them.
“You used to tell us everything on your mind,” Allison continued, leaning forward ever so slightly. “Remember? All your plans. Your ideas. That was why it came as such a shock to us when you finally did attempt time travelling. You hadn’t said a single thing about it.”
Five remembered feeling as if this was bigger than all of them, and thus had kept it to himself; afraid that one small discouraging comment would ruin it all.
Funny how that worked.
“That was a long time ago,” he said now, bone-weary, life-weary.
“I know that.” Allison reached out for him - his hand or knee or wrist - but retreated as if burned without making contact. His fault. “Don’t you think it would feel good to share again? Share anything?”
“Probably.” He hated how matter-of-factly he sounded. His tone so uninvested in the conversation. “But I think we have bigger things to worry about.”
“We always have bigger things to worry about,” Vanya said somewhere behind them. He hadn’t realized they weren’t alone. “That’s a weak excuse.”
He turned to frown at her, but her face, so beloved to him, made him soften. “Well, I don’t have anything better.”
“So drop the excuses.” Klaus was there too. Somehow he wasn’t surprised.
He crossed his arms. “Any other Hargreeves hiding in the shadows?”
“Uh.”
“That was a joke.”
But Diego and Luther emerged nevertheless. Jesus, he needed to stop dropping his guard if four whole people could get past him during half a conversation.
“What do you all want?” he snapped. “Last I checked you seemed too busy to even help me get us home.”
“Hey, you can’t just show up and expect us to not have made a life here,” Luther said, not raising his voice, but pointing semi-angrily at him.
He cocked an eyebrow. “The 60s gave you some balls, at least.”
“Five.” Allison’s voice was a warning, but one that was so understanding Five nearly wanted to cry. “Stop. You don’t have to be on the defense all the time.”
“And why not? It’s helped us before, hasn’t it?”
“It’s only us.”
“There are only four walls.”
Klaus was there, hands on his shoulders so suddenly he didn’t have time to move out of reach. “Relax. You’re more tense than our family dinners used to be.”
And rather than teleporting away, Five stayed, scowling, but letting his brother knead at his shoulders anyway.
“I can’t believe you touched him without his consent and he still hasn’t killed you,” Diego said, shaking his head, and his words made Klaus stop and let go and Five kind of wanted to kill Diego for it.
“Whoops. I should’ve asked. Five, can I massage you?” Klaus said it casually, but Five could sense something underneath his words. Almost as if his siblings had talked about him without him. Talked about how to best approach him.
He started to stand, unsure of why he didn’t just teleport out of the situation. “No.”
“Oh, come on. I felt you relax a bit.”
“I don’t need to relax.”
“That’s a lie.” Luther stepped forward, and had the scenario been different Five would’ve almost expected him to punch him, but Luther was Luther and merely grabbed his shoulders where Klaus’ hands had been and gently pushed him down again.
And Five stayed. Somehow he still stayed, despite feeling too many things to properly identify them, though he could easily point out the embarrassment bubbling up in the form of heat spreading over his ears.
So this was vulnerability taking form in other ways than life threatening. He didn’t love it, but he was far from hating it either.
Vanya sat down on his other side, his two sisters shielding him, while his brothers covered him. Five, the one in this room who had been a fucking assassin, and here they were taking care of him, even if it was just from his own stubbornness.
He exhaled. “I’m just tired, okay? I feel like I can trust no one and I haven’t gotten a moment of rest in over 40 years. At this point I’m not sure I even can rest.”
“You can rest around us,” Vanya said, and she did grip his hand in the way he was sure Allison had wanted to do since approaching him, and Five found himself squeezing hers back without thinking of it.
He ran his free hand through his hair. “It’s not as easy as that.”
“Sure it is.” Klaus leaned over Vanya to get a better look at him from behind the couch. “You don’t think we’d let you get hurt or something, do you?”
“Not intentionally.”
“See? You trust us.”
“I trust your intentions, not your abilities.”
Diego snorted. “If you were anyone else I’d get you for being a smartass.”
Five felt himself smirk. “But I scare you too much, of course.”
“Get over yourself. You’re like a scared rabbit. If I approach you now I’ll scare you off forever and Allison will kill me.”
Allison raised her hands. “Guilty as charged.”
“What do you have on him to get him to behave?” Klaus asked, Five momentarily forgotten. “Seriously, I’ve tried my entire life, but the only thing that works is tickling his feet, and trust me, getting to them is kind of life threatening.”
“Klaus, I will actually murder you.”
“See?”
Five rolled his eyes. “Just tickle him back. He’s just as bad as you.” More recent memories proved his point.
“But the bastard enjoys himself when I do.”
“Things haven’t changed then.”
“I seem to remember you being quite sensitive as well.” Five didn’t see Klaus’ finger pointing at him at first, but felt himself instantly straighten when he caught it. “Is that still the case, old man?”
“How should I know?” Five spat back, rather than denying it. He knew denying anything got him nowhere with this bunch.
“Oh, a challenge!” Klaus actually clapped in glee. “Let’s find out.”
Five was out of the room before they’d even moved toward him.
*
“So maybe that was the wrong approach.”
He looked up, knowing exactly what Vanya was talking about despite the hours between the interaction and his return. “You think?”
“Hey, it seemed to be going fine until the boys decided to act up.”
“The moral of every conversation with them.”
Vanya let out a laugh and settled beside him on yet another couch. No other siblings were there. Five had checked.
“You okay?”
“Just peachy.”
Vanya didn’t prod, didn’t force him to admit to anything, but the way she smiled told him she knew he wasn’t being entirely truthful.
“If it’s any consolation,” she said, running her fingers through the lengths of her hair. “I don’t think I was hugged much either before getting here.”
“I know.” A beat, and, “I’m sorry.”
“No need to apologize. Allison said you were the closest to me back then.”
Five could barely remember it. “I think we both might’ve been a bit of an outsider. You were forced into it. I did it on my own, I guess. I was too busy imagining all these ideas coming true.” He wasn’t sure why he was talking, but found he couldn’t stop. “I’m not sure how to stop retreating even if things go back to normal and we get to lead normal lives.”
“Neither do I,” Vanya admitted. “Everything’s so overwhelming.”
Five suddenly felt a strong urge to reach out and hug her. He hadn’t felt that since- well, ever.
He crossed his arms instead, holding onto himself. “Dad sure knew how to mess us all up.” But Five could understand him now, being older and exhausted; all the vigor drained from his blood.
“I’m glad I found you all again,” she added.
“Yeah.” Had he been anyone else, he would’ve reached out for her hand. “Me too.”
She sighed, and before he knew it her head was on his shoulder, both of them small enough for it to be a natural movement. He didn’t move, forcing himself to breathe normally, and it only took her a few seconds to realize what she was doing and straighten up again.
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“No, no, it-” Felt nice? Felt nearly normal enough? “It’s okay.”
“I should’ve asked.”
“I’m not so fickle I can’t handle someone leaning on me.”
“I don’t want you to feel crowded.”
“I wasn’t.”
So Vanya hesitatingly lowered her head again, which Five hadn’t expected, but he found he didn’t want her to move away anyway.
*
“I’m sorry.”
Five had heard her this time, but in a way it made it harder to meet her gaze. “For?”
“For sneaking up on you like that. And getting the others rather than doing it alone.”
He shrugged. “It’s cool.”
Allison smiled, maybe at his use of words, maybe at the way he was so obviously lying. “Can I sit?”
He nodded, wondering how it had come to the point where people felt the need to ask his permission for everything. “Just don’t try to hug me.”
“I wouldn’t do that. Not after-” She cut herself off, licking her lips.
He tilted his head at her. “After?”
“Don’t get mad.”
“That’s not a good way of preventing it.”
She let out a laugh. “I guess. I just realized you probably haven’t experienced much touch in the past-”
“40 years.”
“And more. I don’t want to impose.”
One part of him - a buried, young, nostalgic part - knew boundaries usually didn’t play a big role in sibling relationships. It was all wrestling matches and tickle attacks and hands pinching cheeks while the other complained. But they hadn’t been normal siblings in years. Partly his fault. Mostly Reginald’s.
“Vanya rested her head on my shoulder earlier,” he said, unsure of why.
Allison hummed. “How was that?”
“Strangely comforting.”
“I see.”
“Maybe because it was also comforting to her.”
“Ah.” She hesitated, mouth opening and closing before forming the words. “Was it nice?”
He looked away, eyes moving, head remaining still. “It was.”
She didn’t push him for more, but Five found himself almost wishing she would. Wishing she would reach out for his hand, throwing her arms around him, holding him close despite his frantic heart. He feared he would never allow it unless someone forced him to.
But she respected him too much. He knew that. Would only touch him if he asked.
He turned his body toward her. “Can you-” Can she what? Be his sister despite his walls? Despite his cranky mood, his violence-reined limbs.
But she merely raised her head to show she was listening and he felt his restrictions were silly.
He deflated. “Nothing.”
“Five.”
“I don’t know how to word it.”
She reached out for him and stopped midair, though this time it felt intentional. “So show it.”
He felt too small in his stupid shorts. Too vulnerable. He squirmed in his seat, eyed Allison’s outstretched hand, and pushed his hand into her palm. It only lasted a moment, her fingers encircling the wrist, her thumb stroking his skin without them letting either of their hands drop. It felt strangely ticklish, a sensation he’d forgotten, though he’d thought about it ever since Klaus had brought it up earlier that day. He wasn’t sure he liked it, but there was something trusting in allowing himself to feel it.
When he moved his hand out of Allison’s grip, which had been loose the entire time, her nails ran over his palm in the process and he snatched it away.
She misunderstood his action. “I’m sorry-”
“No, no, it-” he found himself saying to yet another sister. Wanting to explain, rather than leaving it be. “That was, uh, nice. I just-” He could’ve left it at that. “Your nails, they-”
She looked at her hand. “Did I hurt you?”
“No, just-” He could’ve just said yes. “It tickled, a little. I assume. I haven’t been, you know-” Now he was rambling. “Ah, I gotta go.” And he left, like a coward.
*
Diego found him next, which was surprising, not because Five hadn’t expected they would all seek him out, but that it was Diego and not Klaus who did it first.
“What do you want?” he asked, tired of feeling vulnerable and not as comfortable being so around his other siblings.
“Well, that’s a warm welcome.” Diego plopped down beside him, unhesitating, unasking. “I wanted to see if you’re all right, you little bastard.”
Five let out a laugh, mirthless, but not mocking. “I’m fine, thank you, and how are you?”
“Oh, just excellent. Just having a grand old time.”
“Well, now that the pleasantries are over and done with.” Five made to stand, but Diego grabbed the back of his shirt and pulled him back down. “Hey.”
“Hi. No. Not leaving yet. Allison said we should bond.”
“Do you do everything Allison says?”
“Apparently. God, I don’t know who I am anymore.”
Five nodded, mocking him now. “The 60s changed you.”
“And whose fault is that.” Five saw the exact moment Diego regretted his words, trying to backtrack, but Five held up his hand.
“You’re right,” he said, calmer than he felt. “I’m sorry.”
“No, shit, I’m sorry-”
“Am I really hearing you both apologize? To each other nonetheless?” Luther had once again successfully snuck up on him. Five was getting too fucking old.
“Oh, shut up,” Diego shot at him, no venom in his voice. The 60s had brought them surprisingly close; nearly irritatingly so. “You wanna let me have my heartfelt moment with our little brother or not?”
“I’m older than you.”
“Sure you are.”
“I’d rather stay and make sure you don’t kill each other.”
“So little trust.”
“You’re one to talk,” Five said, getting pulled into their banter so easily he barely noticed it. “Remember how many times I had to keep you both from knocking each other out?”
“I totally had him,” Diego said.
“He didn’t even reference a specific time.”
“That’s because I had you each and every time.”
Luther’s smirk was actually kind of scary, mostly because it was way too playful for Five. “You wanna bet?”
Diego stood. “I’ll take you, big man.”
“Not sure if this is my cue to leave or separate you.”
Diego turned to him. “Oh, you’ll be joining.”
“I’ll win,” he replied drily.
“Prove it.”
In retrospect he realized this was Diego and Luther’s way of getting close to him without crossing any boundaries, but it only occurred to him when he had them both beneath him, sweaty and disheveled and cursing him out. He would blame the realization for allowing the tables to turn so suddenly when Luther grabbed him, Diego suddenly on Luther’s side as they wrestled him down onto the couch, and it was nearly fun enough for him to stay. Nearly normal enough to see the playful wrestling to the end.
But he flipped them over and teleported away, victory ringing in his ears.
*
Klaus found him last thing that day, the clock close to midnight, Five so tired from everything and yet not wanting to sleep until they got it over and done with. He wondered how Klaus would approach him. Had Allison forced him or was he doing it on his own accord. Had Ben talked him into it?
Ben. Five tried not to think of him; his death something he’d never been able to mourn. How would Ben have approached him? Carefully, or bouncing over to sit beside him like Klaus was doing now?
“So how are we doing?” he sang, placing his arm on the back of the couch almost as if he wanted to put it around him.
Five rolled his eyes. “I’m sick of that question.”
“Me too,” he replied, nodding. “It’s so stupid. People just expect you to say you’re fine, so what’s the point in asking?”
“Not in the mood, Klaus.”
“Testy. I haven’t even been particularly annoying.”
Fair enough. Maybe the waiting had made Five restless. If Klaus forced him into a hug now, would he shove him away or melt into it in exhaustion?
“I’ll tell you what.” Klaus turned to face him, pushing his hair behind his ears. “I’ll give you the name of this great masseur and she’ll fix your ever present knots in your back in no time.”
He snorted. “I’m fine, thanks.”
“Come on. You were practically as hard as-”
“Klaus.”
“I wasn’t gonna go with a dirty simile. Jeez.”
Five, miraculously, let out a surprised laugh. “Sure you weren’t.”
“I swear on Ben’s ghost,” he said, holding up his hand. “And on my beautiful beard.”
“Well, that’s a shame because the latter doesn’t exist.”
He touched his chest. “You wound me, brother.”
Five turned away, but he didn’t leave. Didn’t leave despite being so bone-tired he nearly felt like passing out. Maybe it was his lack of energy that made him not flinch when Klaus moved closer, ever so slightly. Not enough to really crowd him, but enough for this to not be casual anymore.
“Hey, can I ask you something?”
The exhaustion made him less suspicious. “Sure.”
“How does it feel to be in a pre-teen body again?”
“Like a fucking nightmare.”
“No, but, physically? Like, are you h-”
“We’re not getting there, Klaus.”
Klaus let out a laugh, and Five found himself smirking despite himself. “No, but really. Can I ask another thing?”
“If you must.”
“You are ticklish, right? Like, that’s not something I just made up.”
“Like I said,” he grumbled. “How should I know?” Though he did know, after Allison’s nails.
“You wanna find out?” Klaus’ wiggling fingers didn’t scare him. He knew he’d never do it without his hint of consent; not now, at least.
“Why do you like it anyway?” he retorted, and Klaus shrugged, no shyness in sight.
“It’s fun.”
“You like the sensation.”
“I guess. I mostly like the experience.”
Five felt curious, running his hand over his knee absentmindedly. “Hmm, I don’t see it.”
“You don’t have to. I can tickle you anyway.”
In another life he would’ve pounced, but Klaus remained seated, fingers still inches away from Five’s skin.
Five watched them. “Go on.”
“What, you want me to?”
“Only for a second. I want to feel it, but I’ll kill you if you continue.”
Klaus didn’t need to be told again, his fingertip colliding with Five’s side in a poke that made him jerk away. “More?”
Five felt flushed in embarrassment, and yet he said, “More.”
The second poke made him jerk again, the third made his lips curl upward. It was somewhere between the fourth and fifth that he let out a sound akin to laughter, his hand finding Klaus’ wrist to stop him.
“Enough,” he said, though he wasn’t sure if he meant it.
“You’re almost as bad as Diego,” was Klaus’ conclusion, and had things not turned out this way maybe Five would’ve returned the favor, or suggested they get Diego to prove his theory.
But he was cursed with constantly overthinking, overanalyzing, overwhelmingly so, so he teleported away despite not feeling like he had to, and without asking Klaus to show him if he was ticklish on more spots than his sides and palms.
*
He wasn’t sure why he felt awkward the next time they were all gathered. While he didn’t doubt they could’ve all told each other about their experiences with him, he had a feeling they hadn’t, so he technically had no reason to feel a slight vulnerability around them, but here they were. Here they fucking were. Out of all of them, it hadn’t occurred to him that he was the most dysfunctional one, though he reckoned it made sense.
“You seem distracted,” Allison said. Five felt as if he would always be observed whenever she was around now.
“In what way?”
“Well, you haven’t mentioned the apocalypse, for one.”
“I knew something felt off,” Diego said, his hand absentmindedly in Klaus’ hair, pulling at strands of it without seemingly bothering him.
Five rolled his eyes. “Oh, come on. I keep talking about it because you lot don’t seem to see the graveness behind the situation.” But his words felt venomless even to his ears.
“Can we have one normal interaction without bickering?” Luther asked, earning a collective “no” from the rest of their family. “Why the hell did I bother asking,” he said with a sigh, smiling sheepishly at Allison who reached out to touch his arm, her other arm around Vanya. The two of them had become inseparable in a way they never had before.
Five felt a fondness for them all, so sudden he felt as if he would suffocate. The emotions were too big for this body; the hormones too powerful. Usually it meant he would become grumpy - unable to handle it, just like a baby who would cried in rage over everything. Now he felt like he could weep any moment and made to turn away.
Something stopped him in his tracks. Not one word, or one movement, but a series of actions. Klaus shrugging Diego’s hand off, Vanya shying away from Allison’s arm while Allison dropped her other one from Luther, who went and sat on the opposite side of the room. One moment connected, the next on their own. Nothing physical to bind them, except for the memories and their love.
Five felt as if he could breathe a little easier now, equal in the circle as they finally got to business. They all loved differently. It wasn’t all about touching. He realized that now, watching them care even from afar.
Days later, back in 2019, he would hold them all close, finally, with relief leaving him nearly boneless in their embrace, and he would not overthink it at first. Maybe one day he’d let them hug him without life or death having to play a part of it, but until then he would watch them approach him slowly and carefully, with hands on shoulders and quick squeezes to his - terribly ticklish, it would turn out - knees.

‘Way to go. Real Team Zero back there.’
‘Diego, we’ve already been through this. Dad’s a stubborn prick, as he has been, all our sad lives, yada yada, we’re sorry, okay? We should have known he’d still be the same condescending asshole’, Klaus replies, waving his hands in the air as he climbs the stairs back up to Elliot’s apartment. Rubbing his left eye with his hello tattoo, he uses his right to try and fumble a blunt out of his pocket, clenching it between his teeth. As he feels Luther’s footsteps pound up the rest of the way and jog past him to the landing, he can’t quite seem to light it - his fingers are still trembling too hard from the pain of Ben stealing his body in the way he did.
Running up the stairs after him, Diego leaves behind the rest of his shell shocked siblings. Instead he focuses on tucking in the corners of his shirt back into his pants, trying to do anything to stop himself focusing on Reginald and the tears that still threaten to prick at the corner of his eyes. He doesn’t even notice when he walks head first into Klaus, until he has put a hand out and gripped onto his shoulder to stop them both from tumbling back down the stairs like bowling balls and straight into Allison.
‘You, brother, are an idiot. And a fat lot of help’, he smirks, sadly, gently slapping Klaus on his cheek.
‘Rude’, Klaus shrugs, winding his way towards the kitchen and kicking off his shoes in the process, looking for some Vodka to steal.
Allison hops quickly out of the way of the incoming shoes, used to his antics by now, and instead comes to settle next to where Vanya has plodded herself down on the sofa. Fiddling with her oversized jumper, a far away look on her face, Allison places a comforting hand on her bicep and gives her a sorrowful smile.
‘What do we do now?’, Vanya murmurs out as Luther squirms uncomfortably on one of Elliott’s wooden chairs. He ignores the beeping of the machines behind his head, instead swallowing thickly.
‘We, uh... wait for Five, I guess.’
‘No no no, right now, the most important thing we can do to try and change the world, is save JFK.’
‘Ughh we’ve been through this a million times! That’s not how it works Diego!’, Klaus calls from the kitchen, only a cloud of smoke trailing out from behind the wall and filling the room with both a stagnant smell of weed, and a light fog that seems to dampen the small amount of sunlight filtering through the askew blinds, which Elliott had been taking photos through earlier this morning.
‘Look, I get that you’re on some big crusade to prove something to dad, but this is not helpful right now.’
‘We all need to stick together and stop this thing’, Allison chimes in, desperation in her voice.
Luther’s interrupted from his continuing thoughts by a small squeak out of Vanya, following her eyes from where they are trained to a spot on the rug.
‘Oh my god... is that blood? Is someone bleeding?’
‘Holy shit.’
He gets up then, following the trail, beckoning his sisters to stay behind him with his hands until he reaches the dentistry chair at the edge of the landing, grimacing slightly as he turns to swivel it towards him with a squeak. He feels Klaus bump into one side of him, and Diego hit onto his other elbow, a rusty kitchen knife raised and ready, and a look of almost determination on his face, as if he had just been waiting for something awful to happen, just another chain of bad events so he knew his life was back onto its normal tracks.
‘Oh noooo’, Klaus groans, cupping his hands over his mouth as Elliott’s body turns to face them, a knife planted firmly in his eye.
Turning away from the tortured body of his friend, Diego swallows thickly, dropping his knife to the floor and placing an arm over his stomach. None of his siblings really notice, all of them looking over the dead body aghast, wondering, pained that they were the ones who caused something like this. None of them noticed the shake in his hand as he squeezed his eyes shut, forcing the bile back down his throat again.
Klaus, however, did notice something. However, sadly for Diego, it was not the right thing - not the signs of shock, anxiety, or guilt that flashed over his brother’s face - the signs of PTSD he would have been the most adapt at noticing in the room. No, instead Klaus looked past poor Elliot’s head, towards a blinking static screen that kept flashing blue and black on a nearby desk, left abandoned underneath the shutter shots of the rest of them by Five.
‘Hello there, what might you be?’
Leaving the rest of them, he fumbled with the buttons on the old TV, trying to shake it out of his head how eerily familiar this seemed to dear old dad’s surveillance system. Hitting any button he can find in vain, he throws his blunt out of his mouth and flicks it across the room, slamming the control panel with the fist of his palm, until his pointer finger somehow managed to falter and hit play on the tape left inside.
Never before had Klaus noticed how much time is like water, that it can drip by in front of his eyes so slowly, or even freeze with each new frame. The past few minutes had passed by as if he had watched a thousand frames per second, too slow to be normal, so unusual. He turns to try and point to his siblings, but his jaw is still so slack and he finds he can’t move his fingers properly. Shock, that’s what they call it, shock, he thinks to himself, fighting to get his words out so they don’t trail out.
There is a sadness in his eyes, the glass green too glossy when he finally turns to his siblings and manages only to feebly point at the screen.
For the first time, since his mouth had been wired shut as a teenager, Klaus was at a loss of words.
This grabbed the attention of his siblings, who crowded over to join him and peer intently at the screen - all except foe Diego, who stayed hovering at the edge of the group.
The screen lights up again, showing an empty room, one without proper handles, only sheets of smooth metal as makeshift windows for staff to peer through. There’s no bed, no mattress on the cold floor, just emptiness, isolation, silence, for the man who sits in the centre of the floor in pure white. They recognise from the shaggy hair and the wild beard that it’s there brother almost immediately.
'You were in an Asylum? What for?’, Vanya asks.
‘For trying to save the President’, Diego manages to mutter, unable to look any of them in the eye. ‘For doing what needed to be done.’
He’s interrupted by himself, the small version of him on the tape muttering to himself, rocking back and forth. ‘I am not enough, I can’t do it, I’m not good enough. You’ll never be number one, never.’
The door swings open then. In his intense silence, Diego somehow screamed with his whole body. The eyes wide with horror, the mouth rigid and open, his chalky face gaunt and immobile as the doctor approached him with the needle.
‘Please! Not the needle!’, he begs and cries. ‘Please!’
Luther’s the first to turn round and look at his brother. The first to finally look, to finally see him, how defeated he looks, for the first time since they all landed in that alleyway.  It's the look that he gives Diego. Those pale blue eyes, probing into his soul, desperately wanting to see what's going on in there. That look, it just tore Diego apart, piece by piece, and although it wasn’t his fault, he found himself deeply unsettled, deeply angry at him, at all of them, so suddenly.
‘W-w-what? What are you looking at a-a-ss-’
An invisible hand clasps over his mouth and stops his words from escaping, an equally ghostly hypodermic of adrenaline piercing his heart, making it contort and expand until it feels just about ready to burst. His ribs heave uneasily, and Allison’s afraid he’s about to pass out, Klaus rushing forward, biting his lips. Diego only wants to run, but needs to freeze. All he can do, instead, is fall to his knees, and allow four pairs of hands to catch him before his face hits the floor.
A single tear slides down from his warm, butterscotch eyes, followed by another one, and another one, until soon, a steady stream of salty tears flowed it's way down his cheek, releasing the sadness and sorrow that has been held inside of him for all this time but still he did not make a sound. His siblings made the noise for him, warm, comforting little nothings, telling him it was going to be okay, he didn’t have to go back, they were going to do it, save the world. Save themselves.
The hand appeared from nowhere and tightened on his wrist, white knuckled, strong, until Luther had pulled him against his chest, and the others had gently fallen to their knees too and placed their arms around his back as best as they could. Klaus was half leaning over Allison’s leg, and Vanya in turn was completely squished, face first, against his chest, but somehow they made it work.
There is the hug of gentle arms that still gives you the space to breathe, like the ones Grace used to give Diego after a mission. Shutting his eyes, he realises he isn’t used to this type, the kind of hug with strong arms that tells everything that your are - body, brain and soul - that they are with you.
They stay like that for a while, the five - well, the six of them, as Ben places his arms around his siblings as well, even if they can’t feel him. The six of them, battered, afraid, neglected, and yet, not alone. They huddle there together, embracing each other and crying and just allowing themselves to be open, to be vulnerable with each other, to realise their dad wasn’t there and they didn’t have to go through this alone anymore.
Tears were wiped and sobbing laughs were shared, and even Five, when he blipped back into the room, saw the set of his siblings hugging on the floor and felt a pang of loneliness and love for his crazy family ring out in his heart that he joined them, if only for a second.
From then they weren’t numbers anymore. They weren’t even siblings. They were more, Diego said with a smile. They were Team Zero.

i’m not normal? (klaus hargreeves x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
(not my gif !!)
*this fanfic is kinda long lmao*
summary: you were brought up thinking you were normal even though you were born on october 1, 1989, just like the umbrella academy. but one argument with klaus proves that you aren’t just normal.
warnings: might include some curse words.
——————————————————————————
y/n and klaus were in the main room, you were trying to be there for him considering his father had just passed away. mr hargreeves never treated his children like children but more like an experiment.
- klaus? you okay? y/n asked klaus as he rested his head on her shoulder.
- yeah, i don’t miss him. i’m actually glad he’s not here anymore. he said with a slight giggle.
you could tell he was intoxicated, either from alcohol or drugs. you felt sorry for him, he was your best friend (although you’ve always had a slight crush on him) since you could remember but whenever you offered help, he always declined, all you could do was try and stop him to the best of your abilities.
- are you sure? you know you can talk to me about anything right? y/n asked, softly.
- yes y/n, i know and i am extremely thankful for you. klaus replied, sitting up and trying to steady himself before standing up and walking to the bar.
as if on cue, his siblings walked in. they all greeted you with a smile, you did the same. you were fond of his family as they were with you, you loved grace especially, she treated you as if you were her own.
- y/n, hi. how are you? allison asked, while getting down to your level to give you a hug. vanya and diego followed allison and did the same. luther just smiles at you.
- wow luther, you filled out! you say, not meaning any harm. he just smiled at you, showing you that he didn’t take it to offence.
pogo walked in to the main room and greeted us all, we all smiled lovingly at him.
- y/n, i weren’t expecting you to be here. pogo said as he noticed you sitting on the same couch as vanya.
- yeah, i thought i’d come and see how klaus is. you replied, looking up at klaus.
- you’re a sweet girl. pogo replied with a smile. y/n returned the smile.
klaus left the bar area and made his way back to the couch were vanya and y/n were currently sitting.
- is that MY skirt? allison asked klaus.
- oh this? yeah, it’s quite breathey on the bits. he replied. as he said this, you tried to hide your giggles but failed. klaus turned around to look at you and winked. y/n got them same butterflies in her stomach like the first time she met him.
- okay so i was thinking that we could have the ceremony at dad’s favourite place? luther asked.
- dad had a favourite spot? allison asked, raising an eyebrow.
- yeah? luther said, but it came out as more of a question.
- will there be cucumber sandwiches? yanno, they’re always a winner. klaus told the group. luther decided to ignore him.
klaus finally sat down in between y/n and vanya, with his new alcohol beverage and cigarette. the smell was enough to make you want to throw up. as klaus sat down, pogo walked out of the main room and up the stairs.
- we still have some things we need to discuss. luther said loud enough so everyone could hear. -like what? diego asked. - like the way he died! - luther replied, as if it was obvious. - and here we go. diego replied, secretly rolling his eyes.
- i don’t understand? wasn’t it a heart attack? - vanya asked, innocently. - yeah, according to the coroner. luther replied. - well, wouldn’t they know? vanya asked, confused. - theoretically. luther replied, bluntly.
- all i’m saying is that the last time i talked to dad, he sounded strange. luther stated. he sounded on edge, he told me i should be careful who to trust. it was like he knew something was going to happen. luther looked at klaus.
- look i know you don’t like to do it but i need you to talk to dad. as luther said this, you got up and excused yourself to go to the bathroom. as you walked away you could hear klaus saying. - i cant just call dad and be like ...
you finally finished up on the toilet and started walking back down the stairs to join the group when you heard diego talking.
- great job, luther. way to lead. you walked in confused, diego walking past you with his head down.
- you’re crazy, man. you’re crazy. klaus stated. - i’m not finished. luther said, trying to get everyone to stay.
- okay well sorry, i’m just gonna go murder mom. be right back. klaus said. you looked at him confused, following him asking what happened while you were gone.
——————————————————————————
okay so i weren’t expecting it to be this long so i’m gonna do a part two. enjoy :)) this is also my first proper fanfic, be kind please🥺

“Hello? Anyone here?” You entered the empty mansion, your words echoing. The note was clutched tightly in your hand that you had found on your kitchen table.
A code you had long forgotten, on that you had come up with the members of the academy. A twist on Morse code, with a mix of Greek and Latin.
“Hey stranger,” You turned around to find the owner of the voice.
“Vanya!” You ran over to her and hugged her tight. “Oh, it’s been so long! Too long. Where’s everyone else?”
“They’re out back, prepping the grave stuff.” She cleared her throat. “I’ll let him know you’re here-“
“No, I, I should go…” You said.
“Wait.” A voice called out. A familiar one, that made you smile.
“Hi, Diego.” You saw him on the stairs. He had changed. He was older now, and he held himself differently. The teenage boy that you had known before was long gone.
There was a pause before he spoke. “What the fuck are you doing here?”
~
The kitchen was silent as he paced around. You knew the rest of the Hargreeves siblings were hiding just within earshot, but you focused on the one in front of you.
You cleared your throat. “Look you left the note-“
“Why do you keep lying?” He said, finally stopping a few feet away from you. Diego refused to look you in the eyes, he just stared into his coffee mug.
“What?”
“I didn’t leave you a note. I definitely didn’t tell you to come here. Why would I do that after last time?” He finally looked at you. He was tired, drained, you could tell.
“You are the only one in this house that wrote in Morse code, let alone our mix with Greek! Why on earth would there be a note in Morse code on my kitchen table? Telling me to come here?” You were confused, to say the least.
“It wasn’t me! And stop looking at me like that!”
“Like what?”
“A kicked puppy. I dumped you, remember?” He said, stalking off to some random corner of the house, leaving you sitting there, thinking about his words.
~
“Diego?” He was sitting on the bed, fiddling with a knife. It clattered to the floor, and you both reached to pick it up, your hands meeting for a moment.
You sat down next to him. “What’s wrong?” The silence was suffocating for a moment.
“We’re done.”
You looked at him. “Sorry, what?”
“You heard me. Please leave.”
“Diego…” You begged. “What did I do?”
He stood, walking away. “Nothing.” The bathroom door locked behind him.
“I just want you to know, that- uh, I love you, okay? Nothing can change that.” You said to the closed door. It took everything in you to not cry as you walked out of the house.
~
But you had turned away and never looked back.
“You okay?” Allison said, pulling you out of your head.
“Yeah,” You sighed. “Just old memories.”
“He still loves you, you know? Diego’s got his own-”
“-Own way of showing it, I know. But,” You paused. “I loved him once. I don’t know if I can open my heart to him again.”
You placed the coffee mug on the table gently. “If he changes his mind, I’ll be at the bar.”
Grabbing your coat, you walked away, but not before noticing the lingering Hargreeves’ in the hall. “Fuck off.” You muttered.
~
You stared at yourself in the mirror. The bathroom was the same as it had been 15 years ago.
~
“Long day, huh?” You said, smiling as he placed hot kisses all over your face.
The cold tile under your fingers was a contrast from Diego against you.
“You have no idea.” His eyes met yours for a moment, and then his lips met yours and it was amazing.
And then someone knocked.
“Do you want me to tell Dad? Or are you horny teenagers done yet?” Klaus said banging on the door.
The two of you groaned, breaking the “happy bubble”. “Go away!” Diego said.
“How about…” He paused. “No?”
You rolled your eyes. “Five minutes.”
“One.”
“Four.”
“I heard a rumor,” Your eyes went slack. “That you came out here.”
When you opened your eyes, you were outside of the bathroom, just Klaus and Allison standing outside.
“She- you-”
“Yes, I rumored you, and now, you need to go downstairs before we get in trouble.” Your eyes widened as you released what was happening.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” You muttered, fixing your messy clothes to look somewhat presentable.
“Christ, just go!” Klaus’s hands were limp and drunk, if that was possible, as he ushered you down the hall. “Don’t want to be late for daddy,” He said, in a sing-songy voice.
"Shouldn't you go meet her father too?" Allison teased.
~
You rubbed your eyes, pulling yourself out of that memory, and there he was, standing behind you. He had his signature black turtle neck on, guns and knives assorted all over him.
“What do you want?” You said softly. You didn’t bother turning around, you just looked at him through the mirror.
He started to move closer, well the smallest amount he could in the tiny bathroom, but you help out a hand, stopping him. “Don’t.” He just nodded in response.
“Are you gonna talk to me? Say anything? Cause the last words out of your mouth were the ones that kicked me out of your life, so if you’re gonna do that again, just make it quick.” You walked out of the bathroom, briefly brushing shoulders with him.
“Wait,” He said softly, stepping into the hallway behind you. “I’m sorry.”
“I.. Don’t do that to me, Diego. That isn’t fair,” You crossed your arms, subconsciously protecting yourself from him.
“Who invited you here?” He asked. He was still quiet, scared of breaking you, scared of breaking an already broken relationship.
“I don't know. Someone did though. That’s the only reason I’m here.”
There was a moment of silence as you both looked at each other.
“I’m gonna go,” You said pivoting on your foot and walking a little bit faster than you should.
Don’t- don’t fall again. It didn’t work last time.
But then again, there was a part of you that was wondering if it could work this time.
~
The rain fell steadily outside as everyone grabbed rain jackets and umbrellas.
“Can we talk?” Diego asked.
You sighed. “Why Diego? I thought we were done. You told me to leave. So what do you want now?” The rest of the academy was silently listening, but you didn’t care anymore.
“And you know what? Stop looking at me like that.” You started to walk towards the door.
“Like what?”
It took you a moment to respond. “Like you still love me.”
~
You left before the funeral started. Head and heart heavy as you left, looking back at the mansion one last time.
“He can chase if he wants to, but from now on, no more of this broken love.” You promised yourself. “No more.”
You were long gone when Five arrived, but that was a mess you certainly would have turned your back on.

Old Regrets, Fresh Starts - Allison Hargreeves
Anonymous said: Would you please write something for Allison Hargreeves? Maybe she thinks reader is dating one of the siblings so she gets jealous and that gives away her feelings or something? Thanks for considering! Loved your head cannons for dating her!!
AN: I wanted to try something different. Let me know what you all think!
Tumblr media
Allison knew that coming home--no, going back to the Academy would open old wounds. The old brick building hadn’t been her home for years but it still housed sore feelings. Shame, fear, and anger. On top of it all was the pain. It all came rushing back as soon as Allison opened the door. The place even smelled the same.
As she settled in, everything she wanted to forget returned and welcomed her new regrets with open arms. It was almost comforting in a way.
What Allison was not expecting was the jealousy. Since she had been a little girl, she had always gotten her way. If her demeanor didn’t get her what she wanted, Allison would rumor her will into existence. So, for most of her life, envy and wanting did not linger long.
Now, since turning over a new leaf, since everything with Claire, Allison had to get used to the feeling again. Though, she wasn’t expecting to feel it so quickly, so intensely. At first, she didn’t even know that it was jealousy that she was feeling.
“Vanya? You’re actually here.”
As her foot made the final step to the wooden floor of the foyer, Allison fell silent. She watched Vanya, still slight but older, walk through the door with someone else trailing close behind her. Allison cocked her head to the side to get a better glimpse. She half expected Klaus to stumble in, buzzed and high off of who knows what. Following her sister’s confused gaze, Vanya reached a hand back towards the figure walking behind her.
“Hey, Allison, this is Y/N.”
“Y/N,” Allison echoed, studying your form as you came into view. Her eyes met yours and Allison felt her breath hitch. Then you smiled and she was sure she couldn’t breathe. You were beautiful and Allison was helpless.
“Hi,” you greeted, “I love your movies.”
“Oh, I, um, thank you,” Allison felt her cheeks warm with embarrassment. Nervous, she tore her gaze from yours and let it fall. It fell and focused right on Vanya’s hand that was joined with yours. Cold, prickling, nettle-like and bitter, started in Allison’s stomach, a feeling she didn’t quite recognize. “Thank you.”
You and Vanya seemed to pick up on the change in tone because you let your joined hands drop. Guilt washed over Allison like a small wave as she stepped towards the two of you. She leaned in and hugged Vanya, arms awkwardly wrapping around the other. Over her shoulder, Allison met your eyes once more. You were still smiling and Allison felt the prickling in her gut ease for a moment. She looked away as she pulled back from Vanya and sighed.
“Weird to be home, right?”
“Y-Yeah, you could say that,” Vanya replied, glancing at you warily. Allison looked between the two of you and felt the impulse to speak up. She wanted to hear your voice again.
“Ah. What is she doing here? She doesn’t belong here, after what she did.” Diego did a double take, his brown eyes on you for a passing moment. “And who is this?”
“You’re seriously going to do this today?” Diego kept walking, ignored her question and  stomped right up the stairs. “Way to dress for the occasion, by the way.”
“At least I’m wearing black,” Diego bit back.
Annoyed, Allison looked over at Vanya whose brown eyes were suddenly full of hurt. Allison also saw you, tensed, ready to leap to Vanya’s defense. Allison tried to remember when she had someone so willing to be by her side, who cared for her so blindly.
She couldn’t remember.
Allison sighed and looked back to watch as Diego’s form disappeared up stairs. Once he was out of sight, she turned to you and Vanya once more Your hand was on Vanya’s arm in a comforting manner. Fingers curled in the dark material of her coat.
Why did the sight of that make Allison’s stomach twist? She had to shake it off. “Vanya…”
“No, he’s right. I shouldn’t have come.”
“Forget about him,” Allison stepped towards the two of you. “I’m glad you’re here,” she smiled at you, “both of you.”
Vanya gave Allison a thankful smile and silence, strained and awkward, fell over the three of you. Allison wanted to say more, do more, tell Vanya everything that she had been holding in. She wanted to catch up with her, tell her about Claire, listen to what she had been up to all these many years. How did she meet you? How long had you two-
“I don’t mean to interrupt this reunion but,” your voice instantly drew Allison’s attention away from her thoughts. “Where’s the bathroom?”
“I don’t…” Vanya trailed off, eyes scanning over the stairs and open door ways. It was then Allison remembered that her sister, Number 7, was the first to leave. Vanya wasn’t there for Reginald’s remodels and decorative knit-picking. Sadly, Allison had been.
“I can show you. The best one is up stairs.”
“Okay,” you said, turning to meet Allison’s gaze. She felt a rush of heat ignite beneath her skin. For a moment, Allison was scared that she, and you, would burst into flames. Then you glanced back at Vanya with all the affection in your eyes and Allison felt cold.
“I-uh, I’ll be here, in the parlor.” Vanya pointed into the room to her right that was bright with sunlight. From where she stood, Allison could see the stuffed, animal heads mounted on the wall. Always watching.
As Vanya walked off, Allison looked towards you. Your eyes were kind but worried as the brown-haired woman made her way into the parlor.
“Diego will leave her alone,” Allison said, sensing your concern. You looked back at her and Allison felt her chest tighten. You were beautiful. “I wouldn’t say he knows better but he doesn’t. He’s probably busy though, brooding.”
Allison wrung her hands together, nervous. She couldn’t remember the last time she was nervous. There was something about the way you smiled at her that made her giddy. Though, when you looked back after Vanya, Allison felt the feeling fade into that prickling again. Then Allison finally placed it: jealousy.
“Yeah, Vanya told me about him. All of you, really.”
As you spoke, you looked back to meet Allison’s gaze. There was a moment of silence between you; a moment that Allison steeped in the long unfelt sting of envy. How had Vanya met you? How had she, Allison’s quiet sister, managed to hold on to you?
“So, uh, bathroom?”
“Sorry, yeah. Follow me.” Allison started towards the stairs. The very stairs Diego stomped up moments prior. With each step, Allison left her chest tighten with nerves. She wanted to ask you everything but found that her mouth was dry.
Emotions were running high. Reginald’s death, while a relief, felt strange, spurring on a stressed mixture of feelings on it’s own. On top of that, there was you. You and Vanya, that was, together, which only served to add to the emotional confusion swirling in Allison’s heart. All she was left with was the haze and a list of questions; some for you, some for her heart.
“Vanya told me that you’re married?”
The question lingered between the two of you as you made it to the top of the stairs. Dumbfounded, shocked out of the confusion, Allison turned on her heels to meet your eyes. There was a curiosity in them and she knew her eyes must have read the same.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“No, you’re fine. I just...we’re separated now.”
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that,” you said softly, almost shyly. Allison felt a twinge of regret in her gut. She was obviously not what you were expecting. Allison, like her siblings, was just too much; far more than what you bargained for when Vanya brought you to meet her family. ‘Just too much’- the Hargreeves family tagline.
“It’s um, it’s alright. It’s probably for the best. We were...kind of doomed from the start really.” Allison took a timid step forward and continued leading you to the bathroom.
The hallway that spilled into the bathroom hosted the doorways to the childhood bedrooms. Memories lurked behind each shut door. Not all bad but barely any good.
“I’m still sorry,” you pressed. “Relationships are hard, love is…”
“Not the forte of any of the Hargreeves.” As soon as the words left her tongue, Allison froze. She thought of Vanya and turned to meet your eyes. “I mean, Vanya is probably the most...she probably stands the best chance, having left so young.”
Your expression shifted to a quizzical one, but you nodded. “Y-yeah, I guess. I don’t think she’s dated anyone, at least seriously, since we moved in together.”
“Well,” Allison laughed, “I would hope not, seeing as you two are…”
She trailed off, starting down the hall to point out the bathroom to you. When you remained silent, Allison looked back at you. Confusion was written plainly across your face, tucked in your furrowed brow and squinted eyes.
“You think that Vanya and I…” White-hot, tickling embarrassment ran through Allison as the realization finally hit home.
“I-I just....I thought you two…I’m sorry. Vanya always…I don’t know. And you’re so stunning, I, that I-I just assumed.”
“Stunning?”
Allison tensed before meeting your eyes. Jealousy was gone, replaced with that nearly foregin nervousness. For the first time in her life, Allison welcomed the feeling. For the first time in her life, she was willing to revel in the unknown, in the idea that you might slip through her fingers. All if it meant that you truly wanted to give her, give the two of you a try without any meddling or rumoring of her own.
“Yeah.” You smiled at Allison and, smiling back at you, she stepped to the side. “Here’s the bathroom, by the way.”
“Oh, um thanks,” you said, sudden shyness shining through your words. “Maybe later you could show me around.”
Allison smiled and, with a rush of courage, agreed. “Yeah, around town too. There’s a few diners...a few bars that popped up since I was last here. We could check them out...if you would like that…”
There was a tense moment, after she spoke, when fear overwhelmed Allison. It had been so long since she had asked anyone out; longer since she had asked anyone out without using a rumor or two. Yet, despite her towering fear, you seemed to over power it.
With a smile, Allison felt her shoulders relax and, while her heart still beat like mad, she wasn’t panicked.
“I would love that.”
Allison let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding and felt renewed. Proudly, she nodded at you and walked back down stairs. With every breath after the last felt like a fresh start. Allison wasn’t ready for what the future would hold or if you were in hers but she, finally, was okay with that.

Powers Against the Father (Vanya)
Luther, Diego, Allison and Klaus, Five, Ben
Author’s Note: The last story in the series, thanks for sticking with it this far.
Warnings: None

Birthdays are difficult when you have six other siblings sharing them on the same date, and a father who doesn’t allow you to celebrate them. For as long as Vanya has known there have always been varying levels of enthusiasm throughout the group.
Of course, Klaus is the one who enjoys them the most. Whether it be they celebrate by sneaking off to Griddy’s or secretly finding something to give each other without their father noticing.
Allison and Ben seem to like their birthday for sentimental reasons. Enjoying everyone making an effort to spend time as a family, away from competing against each other in training or on missions.
Typical to his nature, Five doesn’t care about them, they are just another day to him. You get older, such is the nature of life.
Luther and Diego always feign that they don’t care about the date at all, but Vanya can see that they secretly enjoy it more than they let on.
As for herself, Vanya normally boards with Five, she doesn’t care for them much either. For the most part anyway. Sometimes Allison can convince her to loosen up a little and have a good time.
Though this year she feels completely different about it. From the limited children’s books they have to read around the academy, she’s learned that when you turn 16 it tends to be a pretty big deal. And being on the cusp of 16 she feels like doing something to celebrate it.
But as the lights go out on her final night of being 15, she still hasn’t figured out how.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
In typical tradition on the morning of their birthday, everyone congregates early at the top of the stairs before breakfast. This morning Luther and Allison have bet her there, where they stand holding hands and talking quietly to each other.
When she reaches them, they both wish her a happy birthday and she reflects it back to them. Making sure to keep their voices low, careful not to be heard.
Five is next to enter the group and they all send their wishes onto him. He collectively nods back to them and they each smile, knowing that is as much of a “happy birthday” as they will get from him.
Diego and Ben appear next. They both send their “happy birthday’s” along to the group, Ben speaking far more enthusiastically than Diego.
Klaus is last to join them and in typical fashion bounces around the group wishing them all a happy birthday and hugging everyone in turn. Even Five who looks uncomfortable about it but doesn’t make a move to throw him off like he normally would.
When Grace comes to collect them for breakfast, she smiles knowingly at them but doesn’t say anything. Vanya briefly wonders whether she knows the date is significant at all, or she just responds to them being extra happy. Though when they are seated at the table to find their pancakes smiling back at them, she figures it is the former and that their mother has been programmed by their father not to say anything. But the subtle notion of smiling pancakes is enough for her.

Dear she say it, but her individual training is boring. For weeks her father has been trying to get her to master creating a contained sound bubble. It had been going well and she had hoped they would be able to move on today. But it wasn’t to be the case with her father wanting continued perfection.
For hours she stands in the foyer her father at her side, containing the sounds of the gramophone within a metaphysical forcefield. Bored, she lets her mind wonder, watching Pogo as he writes notes outside the boundary, watching her father as he writes notes next to her, wondering what her siblings are doing upstairs. Eventually she gets so lost in her thoughts that when she resurfaces, she’s shocked to find that the sound bubble is still intact.
After being filled with the initial dread of partaking in an exercise which doesn’t challenge her for the next half hour or so, an idea dawns on her. Biting the side of her cheek to keep from smiling, she finally realises what they can do for their birthday. She just has to think more about how it could work.

“Should we just go to Griddy’s?” Allison asks from where she lies on the lounge floor.
“I could get out” Ben muses, sitting upside down in a chair with his legs hanging over the back.
“We did that last year!” Klaus complains, also sitting upside down in a chair opposite Ben’s so they look at each other the right way up.
“Come on guys, sit up properly. You’ll both start complaining about a headache like you always do” Luther tells them.
“Yeah, like I always do” Ben’s voice drips with sarcasm, fixing Klaus with a pointed look before he begins to sit up all the same.
Klaus initially tries to as well but he can’t coordinate it and gives up, unceremoniously rolling to the floor in a flail of limbs to lie next to Allison.
“It surprises me that you aren’t a gymnast” Diego says to him from where he lies across the couch.
“I have been told I am blessedly graceful” Klaus tells him.
“Who said that?” Ben scoffs.
As Klaus begins to whine and make up lies about who could have possibly told him that, Vanya cuts in. “I have an idea.”
“Like what?” Klaus cuts himself off mid-sentence.
“I-I don’t know how well it will work and I” – Vanya starts unsurely.
“Well out with it” Diego pushes.
“Theoretically I could create a sound bubble and we could play some music” she says.
“Theoretically or you actually could?” Diego raises an eyebrow at her.
“I could, I guess” she speaks quietly, looking down at her fingers fidgeting on her lap.
“I like the sound of that” Allison says pushing herself to sit up from the floor.
“I could go for that as well” Ben agrees.
Klaus gasps in excitement clapping his hands together. “Ben, will you dance with me?”
“Sure” he says flatly. “Do I have a choice?”
While Klaus rattles off about how Ben most certainly “does not have a choice,” Luther turns to Vanya. “What do you need?”
“Could you move the gramophone from the foyer into here?”
Luther hums in agreeance and pushes himself out of his chair to do just that.
“Whose music are we going to play?” Allison asks.
“Not Luther’s!” Klaus is quick to throw in.
“What’s wrong with mine?” Luther’s voice raises a pitch in hurt.
“It’s boring” Klaus accuses.
As they both begin to argue back and forth, Five groans loudly before blinking from the chair he was sitting in.
For the next minute the room is silent aside from the sound of Luther moving in the gramophone from the adjacent room. Vanya wonders whether Five went to get something or got so feed up with them arguing that he disappeared off to his room. She was just about to go check on him when he stepped back into the room out of thin air.
“We’ll rotate them” he settles, setting a small stack of records on the table next to where Luther had set the gramophone.
Klaus squawks and rushes to pick up one of his records from the pile.
Five makes a sound of disapproval, using an arm to hold Klaus back from putting the record in the player. “Vanya chooses first.”
At Klaus’ look of disappointment Vanya nods to him and his face brightens in a smile as he puts his record on the turntable. Though Five remains in control of the needle and he waits for Vanya’s signal.
She barely has to think twice about the security of the sound bubble before she nods to Five and he drops the needle, the space soon filling with the soft sounds of ominous guitar strumming.
As the music is still winding up Klaus is already dancing his way towards Ben, rolling his shoulders in time with the music and moving his arms around like a glorified piece of seaweed in a current.
Ben seems to have accepted his fate and grooves on the spot as he waits for Klaus to join him. When he reaches him, Klaus beckons to Diego and Ben signals for Vanya to come and join them. As cliché as he is, when Vanya starts to move towards them Ben uses an imaginary fishing rod to reel her in. She can’t stop herself laughing at its ridiculousness and he can’t stop himself either.
Next to them Allison dances next to Luther until she sees Five standing and watching alone from the record player. When she stops dancing and looks at him, Five shakes his head and his eyes go wide, knowing exactly what she is going to do.
She ignores the signal and makes her way toward him. Five doesn’t allow less than five steps in-between them before he takes off away from her. It only seems to encourage her as she chases after him throughout the lounge, begging him to dance with her.
After a little while of watching Luther steps up to the other group, figuring that it will take awhile to resolve. They are both incredibly stubborn, but Five will give in to his sister’s wish eventually.
Though Vanya still watches on as she dances, occasionally taking Klaus’ hand so he can spin her around, sometimes to spin him. Around her she can see the swirling white patterns where the soundwaves stop at the edge of the bubble and she moves in time with those. Swaying about to the beat of the song, a smile etched permanently on her face. Knowing that this is the best birthday she has ever had.

Diego dies during a break in and Ben comforts him as he goes. (Klaus uses they/them pronouns here) It’s called Safe And Sound cause if you listen to the song Safe And Sound by Taylor Swift (when the note comes up to do so) it’s sadder.

Anyway have fun, I love feedback. :))
https://archiveofourown.org/works/27598406 is the AO3
Cha-Cha slipped through the back door of the Hargreeves Mansion. Invisibly, Ben went to investigate. He made no effort to stay quiet, seeing as he couldn't be heard even if he wanted to.
As Cha-Cha loaded a gun, Ben's eyes widened. "Klaus!" he called to his sibling.
--------
"Klaus," he rushed to the kitchen, seeing Klaus browse the fridge.
"What?" they asked.
"Someone's in the house."
"Yeah, bitch. Me." Klaus furrowed their eyebrows, scoffing as they took a loaf of bread from the fridge. "Let me eat my sandwich in peace, please."
"No, no, it's-- it's that lady from the Commission." Ben guessed.
"Lila? Oh, calm down, she's probably just here for Diego." Klaus answered, getting peanut butter and jelly from the cabinet.
"No, she has a gun, Klaus!" Ben begged, frantic at this point.
Klaus scoffed, still calm. "They're probably just into that kinky shit. Have you seen that "tactical" belt Diego wears everywhere?" they chuckled at their own joke.
"Klaus, please! Listen to me!" Ben tried grabbing onto Klaus' arm. Tears threatened his eyes as his throat began to burn, "Please, get everyone out, she's not--"
--------
"Hey!" Diego unsheathed a knife, seeing Cha-Cha in the middle of the room. Cha-Cha fired. At the crack of the gun, Diego deflected a bullet which penetrated the wall. His knife clattered on the ground, using both hands to force the bullet away.
--------
Klaus dropped their sandwich on the table at the sound, beginning to shake. "Shit." They closed their eyes. "Shit, I'm--"
Ben stood in front of Klaus, instantly recognizing a flashback from the war. "No. You're here, you're safe, no, stay with me." Ben begged. "Breathe, just like we practiced, okay? Breathe."
"Breathing, I--" Another shot. Klaus covered their ears.
"Come on, come on, let's go. Let's get out." Ben urged, waving his hands as Klaus slid to the floor.
"Shit, shit, it sounds-- like--"
"I know, I know, keep breathing." Ben nodded, joining him on the floor. "Just listen to me, just focus right here."
--------
Five stomped his way downstairs. "Oh, hell no." he shook his head as Cha-Cha aimed the gun at him. "What do you want?"
"Just one of you," Cha-Cha answered, "For now." Just as the last word left her lips, Five teleported behind her, pulling her backward. The gun clattered on the ground.
"You're not getting shit out of us." He then pushed Cha-Cha's head forward into the table.
--------
In the other room, Ben prompted Klaus to run away only to earn the response, "No. No, they're-- I want to help, they'll get hurt." They stood up.
"Klaus--" Ben protested. As Klaus rose, so did Cha-Cha, picking up Diego's dropped knife.
Five took hold of Cha-Cha's briefcase in return. "You put that down!" she ordered.
"Or you'll what?" Five pursed his lips, putting his hands over the lock. Cha-Cha wiped the blood from her forehead with the back of her hand that held the knife.
"Him." She pointed the knife at Diego. Klaus arrived silently, watching from a distance.
"Me?" Diego approached. An amused smile decorated his face as he took large careless steps in her direction. "What could you do to me?" Diego crossed his arms.
Cha-Cha grabbed Diego's shoulder. She plunged Diego's own knife into his chest. He fell. As Cha-Cha let go of him, Diego collapsed onto his knees.
"No!" Five yelled, dropping the briefcase and charging toward Diego.
"Diego!" Klaus called, doing the same. "No, Diego, stay-- Oh gd, how do we fix it?" They turned to Five.
"It's not so simple as to just 'fix it.'" Five said, turning behind him to watch Cha-Cha disappear with the briefcase. "Damn it. You get help." Five said to Klaus, teleporting to Cha-Cha for his revenge.
--------
"'Get help'? I don't even know how to-- He's gone, shit." Klaus held Diego's shoulders, keeping him upright. "Stay with me, okay? Stay, stay with me."
Diego winced loosely grabbing for his sibling's elbows. "Klaus, it really hurts, it really hurts."  (Start the SONG here.)
"Ben, what the hell do I do?" Klaus looked exasperatedly at Ben.
Ben's eyes, instead of frantic, now flooded with sorrow. If you squinted, you wouldn't be able to see his slightly tilted eyebrows or terrified eyes or his lips pressing against each other to suppress any sobs from spilling out. "Ben, answer, please, I don't know how to fix this!"
"Ben...?" Diego's grip loosened. "It hurts real- real b-b-b-bad, Kl-laus." He whimpered. Klaus' eyes softened.
"Don't let go." Klaus pleaded, sniffling now, "I'll never let you go. Don't go." they cried.
"Summon me." Ben said. Klaus looked at him. "Please. Do it."
Klaus nodded, putting their arms over Diego's shoulders, turning them into blue glowing fists. Diego fell against Klaus, their foreheads touching. Diego’s head spun, his hair sticking to his sweaty forehead.
"Don't leave me here alone." Klaus begged. A tear thumped on the wood floors as Ben appeared behind them. He placed a hand on Klaus' shoulder.
Klaus moved away and Ben sat in front of Diego. "Man, I'm... dead, aren't I?" his words were slow, focused.
"No," Ben shook his head, gently leaning Diego back against a wall. "Not...not yet. Just close your eyes"
"I w-wanted to--"
"Shh, save your breath. You'll be alright." Ben hushed, combing his fingers through Diego's hair to keep him calm.
Diego ignored Ben's request, saying "I don't want t-to die."
Ben inhaled as Klaus quivered behind him. "You and I will be safe and sound." Ben whispered. "I'll keep you company while you go."
"I'm dying," Diego said, succumbing to the horrid idea.
"It's not so bad." Ben said, still playing with Diego's hair. "Now we can see each other whenever we want. You can see Mom. Patch..." Ben tried. Diego's eyes welled with tears. He looked over Ben's shoulder, finding it harder to breathe, to think, to exist. "You. You're a p-p-pain in the ass, you know that?"
"I love you too, Diego."
Diego stared at them, nodding a sorry nod. He opened his mouth to reciprocate the words, discovering Diego was unable to bring himself to it.
Through the window, orange hues danced, illuminating the room. Diego stared longingly at the sunset. Memories of the sky’s exact pinkish orange tone when the siblings would sneak out to Griddy’s put a smile on his face. Allison’s voice echoed in his mind, followed by Luther’s and Klaus’ and Ben’s. Five and Vanya giggled in the windy evening air. The slightest aroma of fresh baked goods filled his senses. Diego smiled, even though the memories were long gone.
Diego leaned into the touch of Ben’s hands, fighting to stay in his awkward embrace. He hoped Ben remembered their donut-shop outings too. The sky darkened, the last of the afternoon’s brilliant hues fading away.
With a wavering voice, Diego rasped quietly and slowly, "The sun is going down."
"You'll be alright.” Ben said, “No one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and..." Ben trailed watching the lively flame from Diego's eyes burn out into smoke. "Close your eyes." he said again. Diego, ever-persistent, shook his head. He wanted Ben to be the last thing he saw.
And so he was.
The room no longer glowed. It shrunk. The dusty lobby was no longer radiant of memories and sweet-smelling donuts. It was just a lobby in which Ben and Klaus’ brother exhaled for the last time.
"It’s okay, I’ll guide you. Just find me. Come find me, Diego, and I’ll be right there for you, I promise." Ben's voice cracked, his body shaking with sobs. He lidded Diego's eyes and stood up, away from him. Ben clung onto Klaus, also convulsing with silent sobs. They hugged onto each other, sparing glances at Diego.
"No, no, no, no..." Klaus whimpered.
"He's okay, you're okay, everything..." Ben held Klaus' face just like Diego would, "Everything will be..."
Klaus' tears slid into Ben's hands.
They sobbed into Ben and in return, Ben did the same. “Klaus, I have to find him.” Ben said, breaking away from them. “Don’t go.” Klaus asked.
“I have to find him. He’ll be waiting for me.” Ben wiped Klaus’ face of tears. “I’ll be back quicker than I left. Promise. I have to do this for Diego.”
Klaus nodded as Ben faded to find Diego. They fell to the ground, wracking with cries. Crawling toward their brother, they reached for Diego's arm. “Ben’s coming for you. Benny’ll be there. Don’t be scared, Di. Be brave for me, okay?”
They placed Diego’s hand on his face, whispering reassurances to himself, almost as if it were actually Diego saying so.
“Safe and sound… Safe and sound, Diego…”
The pinks turned to grays and the oranges to blacks. Not even a silver color grazed them, as silver still had specks of shimmering light. Perhaps the lobby was safe with Cha-Cha gone. Each echoing sound, though, of Klaus’ sobs rang like a dagger to the heart. Irreversibly painful.
“Safe and…”

Something Not So Secret [Klaus Hargreeves]
Request: By a friend of mine who wanted me to bruise Klaus up and have him lie to his family
Summary: Klaus is trying to practice levitating and he gets covered in bruises. His family asks about it and he lies to them trying to keep it a secret until he can levitate safely. The family gets suspicious and calls a family meeting.
Words: 1,728
Warnings: referenced domestic violence, a very brief reference to sex, a few cuss words, lying, and a bruised up Klaus
A/N: She enjoyed this so I hope you will too! It can also be found on ao3. I also didn’t really edit this.  Let me know if I need to add onto my warnings.
1. BEN
"Klaus, where did that bruise on your cheek come from?"
Klaus glanced over to his loving brother Ben who decided to appear next to him. He wondered what lie he could tell, turning back to the mirror. His training needed to remain a secret. He could say he fell, which wasn't a lie, but Ben probably wouldn't believe him. He needed something specific for him. Five was a vicious little human, so he could use him as an excuse. Ben could never ask Five what happened, anyway. Klaus looked back at him with a large grin, "Our little psycho."
"What did he do?" Ben asked, eyebrows furrowing. Ben leaned in closer to study the bruise.
"I was bothering him, and he shot a rubber band. It hit me in the face," He lied, "He didn't mean it though, Benny."
"Make sure to be more careful around him, okay?" Ben said, with a loving smile.
Wow, Ben was gullible.
2. DIEGO
"Klaus, where did that bruise come from?" Diego asked, pushing the large bruise on his right hip where his shirt had ridden up.
Klaus was currently lying in Diego's bed stretched out as the said brother sat at the end of the bed cleaning his knives. He had been staying in Diego's room for the past few days because his nightmares were rearing its ugly head. Diego was a secret cuddle bug, which made his nightmares stay away.
"Do you really want to know?" Klaus asked, fixing his shirt.
Diego nodded, setting his knives down.
Klaus knew making Diego uncomfortable will make him drop the subject. Sex would do it. "Well, Di, A few days ago I had toe-curling rough sex."
He watched Diego's face turn red and look down at his knives. He dropped the subject completely. Klaus chuckled and grabbed his yarn and knitting needles. He felt bad for lying, but he needed to train more before telling them.
3. FIVE
"Where the fuck did this come from?" Five asked, lifting Klaus' shirt.
"Wha- Five!" Klaus said, shoving Five away and fixed his shirt.
Five's eyes were wide, he was uncharacteristically concerned. "Klaus, your entire chest is bruised!"
"Hush, little brother," Klaus said petting his brother's hair. He was genuinely shaken at his brother's reaction. It felt like five was a child again. Five was usually dismissive towards everyone, especially him, so seeing him on the verge of tears was terrifying.
His lie would have to be funny to get him to relax. Klaus ignored his body screaming at him to keep Five at a distance, he pulled Five into a hug. "It's a funny sorry actually," Klaus said kissing his brother's head.
"What did you do?" Five asked, nuzzling into his shoulder.
"I climbed into a laundry basket and slid down the stairs and landed on my stomach." Klaus lied.
It seemed to work because five started snickering before erupting into full-body laughter. Klaus relaxed seeing his brother perk up and joined in the laughter.
4. VANYA
"Hey, Klaus. How did you get that bruise?"
Klaus was physically exhausted and just wanted to get food and go back to sleep. He hurt his left leg training today so he couldn't leave the kitchen until she left. He was stuck.
Klaus glanced at the bruise on his bicep, "What bruise, this bruise?"    Klaus asked pointing to the large bruise on his bicep.
"Yeah, that one," Vanya said, cocking her head to the side.
"Vanny, I dunno, I'm always banging into stuff. You may have noticed, I'm a bit clumsy," Klaus explained, turning back around and pouring a cup of Five's coffee. He knew that brushing it off was the best option for Vanya.
"oh, it's just big. I thought that maybe someone hurt you." Vanya seemed embarrassed by her assumption.
"If someone hurts me, I would tell someone. I promise." Klaus gave Vanya a large fake smile and turned his back to her and waited for her to leave.
5. ALLISON
"Holy shit, your entire back is bruised and scraped up."
Klaus groaned lifting his head and glanced at Allison who was standing in his doorway. Klaus put his head back down, "What do you want, Ally?" He asked.
"We are having a family meeting. Klaus, what happened to you?" Allison asked, walking in.
"I slipped and fell in the bathroom." Klaus lied not even bothering to think about it.  He had noticed it was getting easier and easier to lie to his family. No one seemed to be catching on. He was thankful his family ignored him for the most part.
"Are you sure that's what happened?" she asked, stepping into his room.
"I was there, Allison," Klaus said, waving his goodbye hand to get rid of her.
"Oh, okay." She whispered and walked back out of his room, "I'll tell them you'll be down in five minutes." she closed the door behind him.
Klaus whimpered, pushing himself up in bed. His body was begging for him to rest, but he couldn't.
6. LUTHER
"I've noticed that you've been pretty bruised up."
Klaus groaned, hearing Luther come up behind him on his way to the bathroom. He just wanted to take a bath and relax. The pain was almost too much to handle. "Luther, it's late. I want to relax in the bath and then go to sleep," Klaus whines.
"Is everything okay? Something is wrong with you."
"Luther, everything is fine, nothing is going on that is or ever will be of concern. Okay?" he lied, trying to keep his voice even.
He knew Luther was just looking out for his 'team'; He was stuck in the mindset of being number one. Klaus understood that, but it didn't make it any less annoying. He just wanted to be left alone, but it was too much to ask of his siblings.
"Are you sure?" He asked, reaching out and awkwardly grasping his shoulder.
Klaus gave a weak smile, "I am sure, Luther." Klaus said, patting his brother's arm. Klaus pulled out of his grip and made his way into the bathroom.
He leaned against the bathroom door and tried not to cry. Luther had grabbed a bruise. There was pain shooting down his arm. He shoved himself forward, excited to slip into a warm bath, and relax.
+ 1
"Family meeting!" Allison announced as Klaus walked into the house.
Klaus wanted to ignore them and make his way upstairs, He was bone tired, and all he wanted was to curl up in his bed and sleep for days. He shoved down his first instinct and decided it was best to be polite. "Allison, can this wait until tomorrow, please? I am not feeling good," Klaus asked, stepping into the living room where the rest of his family sat.
Klaus was on edge as Luther closed the doors and stood in front of it. He glanced at his siblings, who stared at him. Watching. Waiting.
Something was very wrong. No one was talking. They were just fidgeting in their seats and glancing around. "Guys, what's wrong?" He asked, breaking that awkward silence.
"Do. . . Are you dating?" Allison asked, her voice soft.
Klaus cocked his head to the side, "Why is that any of your business?" He asked.
"Just answer the question, Klaus," Luther snapped, making Klaus jump.
He wondered what that had to do with anything, "No, I haven't been dating. Why are you asking?" He asked, looking to Five for clarification.
"We can rule out domestic violence," Luther said.
"Domestic wha- Five, what is going on here?" Klaus asked. He could rely on Five to be honest, but he seemed to be afraid to say something. "Five, tell me what this is about."
"We are trying to figure out why you are so bruised up! We thought that maybe someone was abusing you," Five explained, standing up.
Klaus burst into laughter, "Guys, no one is hurting me. I got these bruises training," Klaus explained, sitting down on Diego's lap and untied his shoes. He knew they wouldn't believe him, so he had to show them.
"Training?" Luther asked.
"How did you do that training?" Five asked.
Klaus slipped his shoes off and tossed them aside. He had moved in front of his family to prove he had another power.
"Watch."
He closed his eyes.
He tried not to let nerves and exhaustion get in his way of him showing off his newfound power of levitation. The gasps and disbelief of his family made him smirk. He looked down to see him hovering about a foot over the ground.
"I've been trying to get this under control for the past few weeks. I have a lot of trouble lowering myself. I tend to fall and bruise my body up." Klaus said.
"This is... How?" Five asked, walking closer admiring his brother.
"I was fighting with Ben. . . and I didn't notice I was levitation until He pointed it out. When I noticed, I hit the floor like a sack of potatoes," he explained, trying to focus on staying up. he was way too tired to stay up longer than a few minutes. "Diego, can you make sure I don't fall?" He asked.
"Yeah, come on down," Diego said, moving close.
Klaus closed his eyes and tried to focus on lowering himself. He opened his eyes as he was inches from the ground before he fell. He leaned back into his brother.
Diego helped steady Klaus, "Th-That was ama-amazing! I-" Diego closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "I am so proud of you."
Klaus pulled his brother into a hug. He bit back a groan when Diego held him tightly. He had planned on hiding it until he had control, mainly not to disappoint his family. He was wrong. They were proud of him. he let go of Diego and turned to everyone to see them all with smiles. It felt nice.
"For now, stop training." Five walked over to Klaus, "We are going to remodel the gym while your body heals up. We will make a safe place to practice."
"Anything you say, old man," he said, pulling Five into a hug.
"Group hug?" Allison asked.
"Group hug. Just be gentle. My entire body is bruised," Klaus reminded them.
They hurried over and hugged him, making sure to tell Klaus how proud they are.

Diego Hargreeves with a Hispanic girlfriend would include...
A/N: Got excited and maybe a tad carried away. Enjoy!
Lord, this is gonna be all over the place
So, your relationship is a beautiful mix of a little bit of everything
You get on each other's nerves a lot, and you also argue for really stupid stuff
At the end of the day, you both know to forgive each other, because your love is more important than any stupid argument y'all might've had
You never go to bed angry, no matter what happened
Now that that's out of the way, let's have some fun
When I say you two get in each other's nerves constantly, I mean it
Say you come home one day from work, it's late, and all you wanna do is take a bath and join Diego in bed
But you step foot in the bathroom, and what do you find?
Diego's bloodied bandages from what you can safely assume were from one of his "missions"
So, petty as you are, you sit down on the bed and gently nudge him awake
“Hey, babe. I take it your mission went well?”
"Mhm. Yeah, baby. Just got a bit bloodied up."
"Oh, I'm so glad. That means you're still strong enough to get up and pick up those bloody bandages off the floor?"
He kinda stares at you, clearly irritated and in disbelief
"Your ass did not just wake me up for that."
You fix him with a stare for a few seconds, and Diego groans
"Fine."
Smiling in satisfaction, you lean forward and press a soft kiss to his lips
"Te amo, papito."
You're pretty sure you can hear him thrashing on the bed like a child as you turn the corner, snickering
He always ends up getting woken up by loud music on Saturdays
He always suffers in silence
Because he knows better than to get between you and Maná in the mornings
He'll act like he hates your music
But he really enjoys watching you do the choreography to Rosalía's "Con Altura"
And you'll often catch him dancing around and singing Daddy Yankee songs
It's the cutest thing
That being said, Diego's not big on dancing in front of anyone but you
But one word into "Amor Prohibido", he's a goner
He loves dancing, just as long as he's with you
You can usually rope him into dancing to any song with you
Unless you decide to be funny and try to get him to join in when you're dancing to "Aserejé"
There is no way you're getting him to do that sober
Diego can also play guitar
No this isn't confirmed
Pero no me importa
He doesn't play as often as he used to, but he can still play you a few ballads
If you ask nicely
"Bésame Mucho" is his absolute favorite
You love curling up next to him before bed
He'll be wearing your favorite sweater and picking at the chords until something comes up
It's heaven
If you're lucky, you'll get to hear him softly mutter the lyrics to whatever song he's playing
Let's talk nicknames
Y'all have a LOT of nicknames for each other
Both in English and in Spanish
You call him mi amor, papito, babe, and mi cielo
He'll call you baby, preciosa, mi reina, and mamita
The other Hargreeves siblings hate the both of you
No, they don't
They really don't
But you and Diego have this tendency to start speaking in Spanish in front of them
And it drives them insane
Allison, Vanya and Klaus don't mind it much
Klaus actually understands more than he speaks
Five speaks perfect Spanish, apparently
But Luther, oh Luther
He gets frustrated
And you both find it hilarious
"God, you two speak perfect English! Can't you do that around us?"
"¡Tú no me mandas!"
You also cook a lot
Like for every family dinner, potluck and visit
Everyone loves your cooking
The only people you'll allow in the kitchen with you are Allison and Vanya
Because they're the only ones who help
Luther just stands to the side and lets y'all do your thing
And you constantly have to slap Klaus and Diego's hands away from the food
And Five
Well, he's your taste-tester
Now, when it comes to YOUR family, your parents love him
At first, your dad hated him
But once Diego turned on the boxer charm, your dad changed his mind
As for your mom, she treats him like he's the most precious thing in the world
And you're jealous as hell
Diego knows this, so he rubs it in your face
Your mom will greet him at the door
"¡Ay, mi Dieguito!"
And he hugs her and smirks at you over her shoulder
"Hola, mami."
You shoot him a smile, and he knows that he's gonna pay for that later
Anyways, I'm running out of ideas for this one
So I'll close with this
You sat him down and forced him to watch Coco with you
The result?
Diego has a new trick
Whenever you get mad or you're irked and complaining, he'll grin
"No te atrevas-"
"¡Ay! De mi llorona-"
"Vete al carajo, Diego."
