Honestly I am so sorry for just venting so much on here it’s not healthy and I know I need to work on it I just usually only have those thoughts late at night or other times where it just isn’t feasible to talk to anyone else and by the time therapy time comes around I’m not thinking about it as much.
#untagged#vent#delete later#in other news it is no wonder i struggle so much i take so much after my mom it is insane#also her mom???? amazing human being i have heard three little anecdotes about her being nice to black people#like one time she drank out of a fountain labeled 'colored' because the hired help at home and her drank from the same ladle#and there was this black girl whose parents had been paid for her to be put into the school she taught at for integration#and other people were really fucking mean and she kind of wished her parents hadn't taken the money#but my grandmother let her eat lunch in her classroom and was really nice#and also this one i just learned tonight when she was going to college there was some holiday and some staff member asked her#if she would drive another student back home because the student didn't have a way to get home#the girl was black here too and my granny stopped at a diner and the other girl didn't get out because people of color weren't allowed#and my granny didn't stay in there to eat she went in and ordered to go or takeout or whatever and brought it back out#and the two of them ate together#and she always said while she was teaching that vocational schools should stay part of public educatiod#she isn't dead she's still alive we need to visit her more she got back from the hospital after a health scare#we were worried it was heart stuff but thankfully(?) it was just(?) kidney stones#she had to get surgery so it was still really not fun because she had to be in the hospital for a few days#but she's home now and she's a strong woman *knock on wood*#fuck i love my extended family even if sometimes in person its uncomfortable#but like its just really nice hearing about them#and i am so fucking fortunate to have a mother who just wants me to be happy thanks to her own mother who is just wonderful#one time i made these melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies because the recipe was super simple like 4 ingredients#and my parents bought a new box of butter sticks because they take a lot of butter#and i think i'm going to make a batch soon because baking is nice and i want to bring something to my granny#in other news hitting b every time i level up is very annoying#hopefully i can get some more everstones soon#just got the turffield one and seedot is getting that for sure#not that it's a permanent team member i still have cottonee and applin to pick up#my team so far is grookey oddish seedot budew and pumpkaboo

ASK AND YE SHALL RECIVE!!!!
HONESTLY, SAME ANON!! I HAVE A BIG FAT CRUSH in Cater’s Sisters and Ace’s Brother (and Sebek’s, Azul’s & Deuces mamas) 😭😭😭
Sorry, but I'll do a hard pass writing for Kalim's mansion-full of siblings 🙇‍♀️ (plus I don't think Crowley would let 30+ kids-teens-toddles-babies come into NRC lol, maybe just the following 3 after Kalim) BUT INSTEAD!!! I hope you like the bonus character~
LOL THE FIGTH TO FIND OUT WHO'S BROTHER IS THE BEST, A CHAOTIC BATTLEFIELD FILLED WITH BABY PICTURES AND ANECDOTES OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CUTE/STUPID/HEARTWARMING THINGS ALL OF THEM DID
-- -- -- --
MC attentively watched as skilled hands mix card in different flashy ways, while Ace sat beside them with a bored and irritated look on his face.
“This is your card!” The older redhead took a random card and showed it to MC. Sparkles shone in their eyes as they smiled a big bright smile, amazed at the card trick.
Ace interrupted the moment. “Oh, yeah, duh! The easiest trick there is! You just had to cast a simple spell that allows only your eyes to see which card [Name] picked highlighted in red!”
Big Brother Trappola looked at his sibling with an unamused face, MC mirroring the look at having their momentary joy crumbled like that. “Sure, a simple trick, but it was I who taught it to you. Don’t forget little Ace! You’re always following my steps~”
The heart suit boy sighed exasperatedly, shaking his head and looking some other way.
“Ah, he definitely is following a~ll your advices, Big Bro! Ace is always mentioning how you taught him many useful tricks for life!” MC became a little tattletale to antagonize their friend.
The Hearstlabyul student tensed, blushing as he looked at the other two. His sibling smirked, “Really now~? Oh, I didn’t know you loved me so much, baby bro! Say, [Name], let me tall you all my favorite stories of Ace when he was little! I even brought our old photo album for you to view! You can keep it if you like~” The aforementioned photo record appeared, “Look at this one! Ace used to wear his tighty whities like a superhero mask!”
At that, the 1st year tugged his friend away from his mischievous older brother, dragging them far away from his influences.
~°~  ~°~
“Cay-nii! Look look! We found your cute little friend before we could find you, and they were so kind to bring us here!” The younger of the two Diamond sisters waved at her brother. However, her arm remained linked with MC’s.
Cater looked scared, despair quickly painting his face. All his attempts to hide, ruined But now that his sisters had MC in their arms... He couldn’t run the risk of them embarrassing him in front of his crush.
“A-Ahaha..! Yeah, look at that..!” The orange haired boy awkwardly laughed, approaching the menace that were his sisters (with a cute, clueless MC between them).
MC spoke up with that bright smile on their face, "Your sisters are so lovely, Cater! I wouldn't mind having siblings as nice as these."
"Oh if only you knew, little Prefect." Cater though to himself.
The sisters looked at each other, then at their younger brother. "Is that so, [Name]-chan~?" The older one inquired, words drawled out in a playful yet dark tone. Oh no, Cater tensed at what they were planning.
Acting quickly, the girls dragged MC over to one of Heartslabyul's many couches. "You're always welcomed into the family, [Nickname]-chan!" "To show you you're a Diamond now, let us watch some of Cater's old baby pics! He was the most adorable little brother back then!"
The Heartslabyul student hurried up to his siblings, trying his best to ruin their "bonding" activity.
~°~ ~°~
The evening was nice, warm with a comfortable breeze... The surprising thing was that MC shared many laughs with Sebek and his siblings through the day.
They were nice, very nice! The girl was intense like their friend, while the boy was tamer, on the shy side.
They shared many stories about their family life: the fishing trips to catch salmon, what their parents were up to in the clinic and the new patients they got to work with (quite a colorful array, one must say), life in Valley of Thorns, tales of their magical awakening and how Sebek threw up when his magic woke up, funny stories of childhood games, and thought MC many songs!
With how much they butt heads with Sebek, MC wholeheartedly welcomed this wonderful day filled with happiness, shared with their friend and his siblings!
~°~ ~°~
A Magift practice match supervised by Leona
MC sat on the sidelines, a bouncing wolf pup sitting on their lap. The small child marveled at the highspeed tricks and plays of both teams. "Big Bro Jack!! Go go go, Big Bro Jack!!" She yelled at the top of her lungs, cheering her brother on.
At their side, an embarrassed sigh could be heard. Jack's little brother, who held striking resemblance with him (specially with that attitude), tried to hide away from onlookers' eyes after his sister's cheer.
But then...
Jack snatched the disk from the enemy team, sending it flying through the air with a mighty powerful flick from his magical pen and--!
"SCOOOOORE!!!!" Both young wolves screamed in happiness, tails wagging a couple times as their adrenaline kicked.
Leona laughed at the reaction. "Not so indifferent now, huh, squirt?" His hand ruffled the wolf boy's hair. The boy blushed at getting caught cheering like that.
A sudden snicker startled the siblings as they looked at the hyena beastman. "You resemble your brother a lot. I'm sure you could become as good of a player as Jack some day."
The little girl gasped in amazement, siblings looking at each other with excited sparkles in their eyes at the compliment the older of the two just received.
"Ah~, they're just as adorable as Jack!" MC gushed internally.
~°~ ~°~
"Trey-nii!" "Big Bro!" "Trey-Trey!" Many voices came their way, sounding excited about finally getting to see their beloved brother once more.
Trey chuckled nervously, "Here we go..." Suddenly, MC saw three little kids glomp their friend. Two hugged his legs while the other climbed up to cling to his torso.
"How have you been, big bro?" "Have you made friends?! Many friends?!" "Do you have sweets? I smell cake!" "Your house here looks funky!" "Can we go inside the big house, Trey-Trey?!" "Can I pick a pretty rose, Trey-nii? I really want a pretty rose!"
They fired multiple questions at their 3rd year friend. So young, so curious, a perfect embodiment of childhood...
MC giggled, "You never told me your siblings were so inquisitive. It's so cute!"
Their attention immediately turned to MC. In a hurry, they let go of Trey and approached the magicless human.
"You're a friend of Trey-nii, right?! Right?!" "You're pre~tty, no wonder Trey-Trey likes you!" "Hey, hey! Do you also have a big house like big bro?!" "Do you have any siblings? I wanna befriend my brother's friends' siblings!" "A pretty person like you deserves a pretty rose... Trey-nii! Can we pick roses to make a crown? Plea~se?!"
"Now now, let's not overwhelm [Name] in our first meeting, yes?" Trey's call silenced them in a second. "I do believe you must first introduce yourselves before asking so many questions to a stranger, don't you think?"
The trio looked to the ground and fidget with their clothes. "Yes, Big Brother Trey..."
The glasses wearing student shot an apologetic look to MC. "Why don't we go inside and get your introductions done, as well as your questions answered, over a slice of tart and a cup of tea? Sounds good? Maybe you can meet some other friends of mine, too."
The kids perked up, happy smiles brightening their faces as they nodded and took each of Trey's hands. The remaining child looked at MC, who smiled and stretched their hand for them to take before making their way into Heartslabyul dorm.
~°~ ~°~
"My Ruggie really did that?!" The old woman was surprised, wrinkled face showing her emotions.
MC affirmed with their head, "Yes, he's always helping me forage for herbs and tasty plants to use for meals! Really useful for cutting off expenses. He even taught me few recipes with said plants, recipes taught by you, Miss!"
Ruggie's grandmother smiled proudly. "He's such a nice soul, isn't he? Always bringing cans of food when he comes visit us to ensure the little ones back home have something to eat." She held MC's hand in both of hers, using the one on top to give the prefect's a couple taps.
"You treasure those recipes with your life, young one! And please," Her eyes were so gentle as she looked up at them, "Keep an eye out for my Ruggie, yes? He tends to overwork himself. Please, fulfill my role while I'm away from him, make sure he eats and sleeps well, that he stays hydrated and relaxes his mind. That is all I could ever ask from you."
MC's heart contracted with adoration at how kind this old lady was, a beautiful old soul still full of vigor.
They nodded, squeezing those calloused yet warm hands of hers.
Meanwhile, the eavesdropping hyena sniffled at the sweet moment between his grandmother and friend. He was deeply touched.
Two peopled he held dear to his heart were getting along swimmingly! More over, they just showed him they care equally as much about him as he does for them.

Note: It’s been nine years since Amy walked into Sheldon’s heart and never walked out.  This seems like a particularly great thing to celebrate since that moment led to a Nobel Prize!  Well, and that these two characters has brought us all together.  It’s been a trip fangirling with all of you.  Hopefully we can celebrate again next year.
It turned out that press tours were extremely exhausting. Not only exhausting, but also so boring. The set of interviews after the Nobel ceremony was even longer than the set they had to do before. Sheldon and Amy spent so much time together in green rooms waiting for someone to call them into a room where they tried to talk about science in a way that the everyday person could understand for three minutes. It was almost all exactly the same each time. The questions were the same. The jokes were the same. The interviewers were the same. Neither Amy nor Sheldon could remember this woman's name or where she worked. It was all bleeding together.
“So, I heard that you two came up with this at your wedding?” Amy heard for the eighth time that day. She tried to put on a smile and answer with the same enthusiasm as the first time she answered this question.
“Yes. Dr. Cooper did much of the preliminary math on my mirror in my lipstick,” Amy said. She knew that this would get a fake laugh from the interviewer. It had every other time. It did this time as well. Amy smiled as if this was a particularly funny comment. It wasn't. Maybe the first time, but not now.
The interviewer asked for a breakdown of the science. This was when Sheldon repeated his one and only answer in each of these interviews. It was actually the only thing he was allowed to say by order of Cal Tech. It was a description of the science simplified as much as he was willing to do. He had worked with President Siebert himself to create the answer. It never once changed.
“How did you two meet?” the interviewer asked.
Amy was shocked that someone had asked a new question. No one had cared about their personal life other than the wedding. The wedding thing made for a cute little anecdote to humanize the couple. Amy could see why they included it since these interviews were so cookie cutter. She was a little shocked into silence by the first new question in days.
“We met online,” Sheldon answered after Amy was silent for a moment. He knew that he was technically not allowed to answer any other questions unless asked directly, but Amy wasn't saying anything. “It was the best day of my life,” he started.
“Better than the Nobel?” the interviewer asked as she leaned in slightly.
“Hearing about the Nobel was a close second, but yes,” he said. He was glad to just not have to give the same answer again and again. This woke him up finally, and he knew that it was likely that this would all be cut out anyway when it aired on television during some morning show that people would only catch bits and pieces while they got ready for work. At least this broke up some of the monotony. He would have been happy to answer questions about his wife all day just to get a break from the monotony.
“Who knew that Tinder could lead to a scientific breakthrough?” the interviewer joked to the pair of them. “Maybe we should develop an app that allows more scientists to meet.”
“It wasn't Tinder,” Amy clarified. She thought that Tinder had a bit of a reputation for hookups. It obviously wasn't like that for them. It wasn't supposed to be anything. It was supposed to be a quick meeting to check a few boxes for them. To get her mom off her back. To get Raj and Howard off of Sheldon's. They weren't supposed to fall in love. Even if that's exactly what happened.
“Yes. I believe it was before Tinder was an app. What site was it?” Sheldon asked his wife.
“You don't know the site you used to meet your wife, Dr. Cooper?” the interviewer asked before Amy could answer.
“Oh. I didn't use it. My friends Wolowitz and Koothrappali tricked me into meeting a woman they thought was perfect for me. I scoffed, but clearly they were correct,” Sheldon said with a smile at Amy. She looked down and blushed.
“This is the Mr. Wolowitz and Dr. Koothrappali you thanked in your speech?” the interviewer asked as she checked her notes.
“Yes,” Amy said. “They are some of our dearest friends.”
“I can imagine if they got you two together.”
“Time's up,” some assistant announced after that.
Amy wished that this woman could keep talking to them. She would rather talk about anything other than the same three soundbites again and again and again and again.
“Thank you so much. Sorry we got a little off track. I know that you guys are just supposed to talk about the Nobel. It was really nice meeting you,” the interviewer said.
“Wait. If you have any more questions, shoot me an email,” Amy offered. She handed the interviewer a business card. “Since you got caught off.” Then she leaned in and whispered, “And since you didn't ask us all the same questions.”
“Thanks. You guys are my first big interview, and I think I messed it up.”
“You did great,” Amy assured her before taking her seat back next to Sheldon. She put her head on his shoulder and waited for the next interviewer to walk into the room. They had three more hours of this.
“Maybe I should just talk about you for this one,” Sheldon offered.
“I don't think anyone wants to hear you complain about your wife,” Amy said with a sigh.
“I meant talk about how much I love you. However, you left dirty clothes in the bathroom again today,” he complained.
“Yeah. No one is going to want to hear that,” Amy said with a laugh.
“The clothes or the love?” Sheldon asked.
“Either. We're pretty happily married, so neither is all that interesting.”
“Perhaps we should stage a fight for the next interview,” Sheldon offered as the next interviewer walked into the room. He watched as Amy took his hand into hers and played with his fingers. He was sure that he would have lost his mind a long time ago if he was doing this alone.
“Oh. Please do. That would probably get us a few extra views. I'm Rob from Good Morning America,” he said as he sat down across from them.
“Really? You guys are interviewing Nobel laureates?” Amy asked.
“We do a bit of real news too,” the new interviewer said. He was pretty used to hearing that kind of thing, so he wasn't too bothered. Plus, people were always cranky at these things right before lunch. Drs. Fowler and Cooper actually seemed like a fairly sweet couple. Everyone had seen the speeches already.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Yeah,” Amy said. She took one last sip of water before getting ready to talk about the win again. She grit her teeth as she waited for that first question: “how did it feel?” That was not the question she got.
“First, I have the question that has our whole office curious, how did Mrs. Hofstadter's parents react to Dr. Cooper spilling the news about her pregnancy?”
“I love you for being the first person to ask,” Amy said with a laugh. “They were so happy that they didn't even care that the news didn't come from Penny herself. They love her and Leonard so much. They hope the baby is a genius.”
After a lunch break, some more “lifestyle” outlets came to ask questions. They also occasionally threw in a new question about Sheldon and Amy. Amy made a point to remember that the next time Penny was talking about some magazine or tv show that Amy thought was silly. These interviews were much more tolerable, and they deserved a bit more respect.
“I want to take the longest bath,” Amy told Sheldon as they left the building to go back to their hotel room at the end of the day. They had one more day in New York before they were supposed to go home. Unlike their honeymoon, this trip to New York didn't hold anything fun. Just more promotion for Cal Tech and their own careers.
“But I booked us a couple's massage,” Sheldon said. “Bazinga!” he added after a second. Then he chuckled at his own joke. He would obviously never do something like that.
“Don't tease me like that. That actually sounds amazing,” Amy pouted.
“Okay. I really will schedule one,” Sheldon said.
“Really?” Amy asked.
“No. Bazinga!”
Amy huffed in frustration.
“I'll book you one,” he said as he pulled out his phone.
“Bazinga,” Amy added for him.
“No. I'm going to book you a massage at the hotel for this evening. Then I'm going to get us dinner reservations. We might as well have one romantic evening here,” he said. Once he was done, he stood behind Amy while they waited for their car. He squeezed her shoulders. She was tense, so he pulled out his phone to change it from an hour massage to an hour and a half.

Why We Love ars PARADOXICA
Back in 2016, the fandom made a list of 43 reasons why we love ars PARADOXICA in honor of the 73rd anniversary of Dr. Sally Grissom’s first audio diary on October 29, 1943. When I learned that the podcast was going to end after its third season, I decided to pull together another list that was double the length of the first.
However, the fandom was so passionate that we blew past our goal, and reached triple the length of the original list!
Without further ado, here are the 129 of the reasons why we love ars PARADOXICA:
Helen Partridge, my beautiful, beautiful wife
I just love Kristen’s laugh and it never fails to make me smile.
Mischa’s outros! “Brought to you by the internet:”
The TimeSwimmers episode. That whole thing was a masterpiece
Sally and Nikhil's friendship
Petra, my sassy troubled daughter
The effort that went into making such a truly unique and ambitious take on time travel-based fiction
Sally, my favorite disaster ace
All of the characters are just so beautifully flawed in their own ways and are so well depicted it’s hard to pick a favorite
Every episode makes me feel SO MANY EMOTIONS
The sound effects are just so well done that I feel like I’m right there with the characters
The subtle yet mind blowing foreshadowing
The way it endlessly inspires me to create fan content
The decryption team, who I don't understand yet love to watch unravel codes
The ability to make us both love and hate a character at the same time as much as we do Esther Roberts.
Jack Wyatt
The sass, and in general wonderful interactions with the fan base on social media.
The schoolyard brawl!
Very obviously not being afraid to have fun with ads/sponsored content.
Actually making me want to listen to the version with ads even though I'm a patron
Buttsticks…
Plasticity
The outro music is simple but so, so good
Lemon drops and Limestone
My curiosity about what Esther wrote in the letter
Golden boi and his devils lettuce
With three episodes left it felt like there was so much story left to be told and such little time to tell it
The generosity to keep us entertained between seasons
The subtle symbolism of Esther's mind being represented with card games
The heart-wrenching ups and downs of Esther and Bridget's relationship
Esther and Sally’s lesbian/aroace solidarity
Bridget, my mom
Sally's #relatable ace anxieties and Nikhil's comforting response
The super cool theme song by Mischa "i do not play piano" Stanton which they apparently HEARD IN A DREAM?!
The found footage pieces between scenes
The amount of detail put into it, and being able to notice new things on each relisten
Easter eggs like QDAM
Seemingly infinite pop culture references
The commitment to posting a transcript for each episode
The GOLDEN BOY smokes the devil’s lettuce?!
The Super LUminal Recursive Processor
All of the machine code names really
Mischa’s wonderful sound design that makes me feel like I’m actually in the location the episode takes place at and made me realize how wonderful podcasts could truly be.
Sally Grissom. The wonderful disaster ace and the first ace rep I ever found.
The sound design of the show, especially the tapes adding to world building, all those clunky sounds.
Sally Grissom, ‘I wonder what would happen if I...’, Mad scientist.
This show has the most complex, humanistic portrayal of aromanticism I’ve ever experienced
I appreciate the aP creators’ dedication to nuanced portrayal of and discussion about violence
All of Curses, of fucking course
Keeping the humanity of people who do bad thing while not trying to justify them
Their commitment to “all killer, no filler”
Reminding me that science is cool, dammit!
Petra is a lovely and nuanced, complex character that I adore with my whole heart and soul.
[BLUE BLUE 09 13 18 15 26 08 04 12 20 24 05 18 14 09 17 04 05 12 01 05 The weather in Tulsa today is: Drought. At the tone, the time will be: 5400 hours]
The creators are so so fantastic and fun! I love that they interact with fans.
Sally is the disaster stoner physicist we all need in our lives. also she’s relatable as hell
The show is not afraid to tackle issues like race, gender, or sexuality and it doesn’t overstep its bounds.
The codes are so fun (even if I don’t understand all of them)!
I love how excited scientists get when they’ve discovered something-it feels like real scientists I know
How Bridget criticizes Sally for making puns under pressure even though she does exactly the same thing
The way characters interact with one another, and grow, and learn, and develop is so fascinating and beautiful.
Plasticity might have been the first podcast episode to make me cry.
I love Sally “I only know anecdotal biology and chemistry” Grissom and how her science knowledge actually makes sense??
As a huge huge physics nerd and aspiring computer scientist, I love love love the way Sally talks about science! It’s like Kristen DiMercurio is narrating my inner monologue!
The thrill of trying to keep up with the diverging timelines
☭S̶͜͞ ̀͜҉̀͢Í͠ ̸̸͟҉X̵͘͢ ̢T̷̶͞ ̢̨͟Y̧̛͘ ̨͟͢ ̴̨͜҉S̷̶͢ ̴͝Í͢͟ ҉̢̛͝X̕͝͝☭
The consideration and dedication shown in not only writing an aro-spec ace character, but addressing issues and worries often faced by people in that community.
The mind-boggling task of trying to piece together everything that’s happening when for all we know every scene could be from a different, rewritten version of the timeline.
Anthony Partridge, the most melodramatic math nerd to ever play Tetris in a bubble outside of time.
The optimism of the show and ultimate faith it shows in both science and humanity, despite all the characters’ failings.
Sally giggling over meeting her future self both times that it happens
Sally’s book (and her attempts at pronouncing NaNoWriMo).
Maggie Elbourne, because as much as I love all my the more morally ambiguous scientists it’s nice to see one who actually stood up to ODAR’s shenanigans almost as soon as she figured out what was up.
Everything about the road trip.
TimeSwimmers was already mentioned but specifically TIME DOLPHIN RYAN LOCHTE
Characters that grow and change and learn
The 77s getting name dropped in Plasticity, way before we knew who they were
Sally calling out the English language for being problematic (“oh, you mean like morally upstanding?”)
“The weather in Tulsa today is: uhh I dunno”.
It has been quite possibly the most human exploration of time travel I’ve ever seen/heard.
Reaching a happy ending I couldn't even imagine
The weather in Tulsa is: sppoookyyy
The ever changing ways the codes were presented in season 3. Giving the feeling that the anchorites were both on the run and broadcasting these messages from different points in time.
Sally’s ace representation is the best I’ve ever seen and it makes me feel so #valid.
The sound design and detail in the writing make me feel like I’m truly immersed in the story, and it feels so authentic. Are you sure you don’t secretly have a timepiece?
The characters are people I CARE about and wanted to cry over during work all the time because they’re all wonderful and I love them.
The integration of the different storylines into Sally’s, especially Petra’s, is amazing.
Petra’s characterization was really well done, and it made me really care about her, even as she was trying to more or less destroy the world.
Out-of-date pop culture references that fit seamlessly into the dialogue despite being from literally a different time period and most of the characters having no idea what it meant. They just added an extra level of hilarious.
You may not actually know a single thing about tachyon fields and gluon walls (are they even real?) but you could definitely convince me that you know exactly what you’re talking about (or at least that Sally Grissom does).
The enDING WAS JUST REALLY WELL DONE AND I LOVE A GOOD CIRCULAR ENDING AND IT MADE ME GENUINELY GO TO THE BATHROOM DURING WORK TO CRY BECAUSE IT WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL.
The fact that the whole show is wrapped up by the revelation that the entire show is actually Nikhil and Mateo curling up with board games and snacks trying to form a story out of these tapes, patching together timelines to make it all cohesive, it just feels very right.
This story fits the medium so well, and so the fact that we don’t learn that Whickman has an EYEPATCH is absolutely wild but also wonderful because as soon as I heard that I knew that that was how it belonged, like of course he has an eyepatch, that’s a very Chet thing to have.
The ending was so perfectly, painfully beautiful. It was the ending we needed but never would have imagined.
Petra’s and Sally’s relationship being so complex and real.
Nikhil and Mateo using the archive to create the framing device for the whole podcast.
The sound the timepiece makes.
The final destruction of the timepiece.
Putting time travel in a Cold War setting makes perfect sense, and they go together like peanut butter and chocolate.
Did anyone mention Helen Partridge as a character? How beautifully she was set up and the fact that she pursued her own her life, and also, how BEAUTIFULLY Susanna Kavee can sing? Because damn.
I just. Really love this show. And everyone involved. So much.
The child characters were really well done-both the actors and the writing felt real.
To me, the show feels a bit like one of those camp friendship bracelets everyone used to make, with all these colors and threads--all of the timelines, woven together, messy but beautiful.
TEETRIS
Grissom’s Gizmo Gals!
Mateo’s non-stop flirting, even in the worst of situations
Sally “It’s Dr Grissom”ed HERSELF.
The way both the story and the characters reflect a complex view on the world with people making horrible decisions and horrible things happening to them, and yet always maintaining a positive outlook, offering the possibility of change and improvement.
The top-notch voice acting from everyone involved, helping to create the wonderful characters we all love.
Sally finger-gunning her way out of a conversation with a pun about a friend almost killing her.
All the minisodes!!
Any time Bridget, Nikhil or Lou acts like they want to adopt Petra
The series ending with two characters who had been at odds coming together
The characterization of the different Petras, because they all seem like different people even though  in fact they are not (and Sylvia deciding she doesn't want to follow the legacy of Petras)
How Kristen can play 2 of the same character and make them sound different (how does she do that???)
Anthony’s will to save everyone, sacrificing himself, when the world didn't do anything good for him…
... and the constant struggle to save his friends (like when he was literally the only one aware of the Anchorites and the way their plan could have ended)
The way the show can go from time travel shenanigans to heartfelt character moments is a real testament to the talent of the writing team.
The Vegas episode, which I listened to after the finale and cried, because they were so happy and naive and everything wasn’t messy and bad and complicated.
The way gun violence is handled by the creators with respect and care
The way PTSD and mental health is handled (through Sally) is beautiful and respectful.
Partridge being named after a bird and living out his life in a cage. YOU GUYS ARE MEAN
Susanna Kavee’s absolutely amazing singing and Tau Zaman’s lyrics are an absolutely combination.
The ceaseless, unwavering commitment to puns
I love how important their friendships are to the characters (well, most of them anyways).
Sally’s conversation with Nikhil in season 3 reflects a lot of common anxieties of aromantic people, and his understanding responses
The entirety of the trial episode, which just really sort of showed the full extent of how terrible the Red Scare was by putting Esther, a Jewish woman, through it, and just shows you how defamed people in that time were.
In so many of the fictional and non-fictional representations of history, marginalized people have diminished, distorted, and stereotypical roles-but not in ars PARADOXICA. Thank you for making so many people feel seen.
All the amazing writers who started it all. 💜

Special thanks to the ars PARADOXICA discord for being so helpful! From the time it was just a dozen people with a spork in a shoebox, this community was a shining star that helped me through tough times. Thank you for your silliness, cleverness, and support.
Brought to you by the internet: It’s weird! It’s fun! It loves you very, very much!
