I just realized something. I see a lot of Elriels use the argument, "Gwyn can't be a spy because she couldn't even keep a secret from Merrill" but isn't it canon that Azriel, the spy master, can't even be trusted with solstice presents?

There are different levels of secrets and secret keeping, so Gwyn could potentially be really good at keeping something hidden if it's something as important as life or death and we've already seen an example of this during the attack on Sangravah when she kept the location of the children secret.

Spy work is also done mainly from the shadows by observing and waiting, and Gwyn shows great promise of these very things during the blood rite.

I also see them using Elain sneaking around and disappearing for hours as evidence that she will be a spy, but considering everything we know about Elain's true personality, spy work doesn't seem like a good fit for her.

For one thing, Azriel's spy work seems to include more than a bit of violence, and Elain is said to be uncomfortable with violence. Yes, she killed Hybern, but that was a very specific situation where she was protecting her sister, and we don't even know how she feels about that moment yet. But we do know that Elain is stated to not like violence and I don't think that's the type of thing someone can just ignore, especially if it's part of their daily work, which, if Elain was a spy, it could very much be part of her daily work.

As I said before, spy work is also very much done from the shadows, with very little interaction, and though Elain can be observant, she is also described as being a social butterfly. She loves parties and talking to people and can apparently get anyone to do anything with just a few smiles.

If she were to work with Azriel, she wouldn't do any of those things because she'd always be in the background.

You could use the argument that maybe Elain would be the kind of spy who gets up close and personal/manipulates people or listens for gossip and that could maybe work in certain situations but given her status as sister to the High Lady of Night and her known mating bond with a high lord's son, it seems very unlikely that they would use that kind of tactic often because I feel like people would get suspicious if Feyre's sister and/or Lucien's mate just kept randomly popping up in places/events without warning/explanation and then disappearing.

Elain seems too social to be in the shadows and too recognizable and connected to be truly anonymous like a spy would need to be.

Of course, if Elriel does end up happening, there's nothing that says she has to be a spy, but sjm couples seem to have jobs that complement each other.

I have seen theories of Elain becoming a healer, so maybe some people think she could heal Azriel and/or his spies if they become injured, but it seems like that wouldn't happen very often and when/if it does, I feel like they'd prefer going to Madja just because she's more experienced and even if they do choose to go to Elain, that would still be Elain sitting around, possibly for days at a time waiting for Azriel and/or his spies to come home, which sounds stressful. You could argue that Elain could use that time to garden or bake, and you're right. She absolutely could. However, there is a difference between doing an activity because you enjoy doing it vs. doing it to distract yourself while your boyfriend/friends are off doing dangerous spy stuff, and I think over time, it would feel pointless/draining.

Elain also expresses interest in traveling. She wants to go to the continent and, given her vibes as a romantic person, she'd probably want to share those trips with her potential love interest, and Azriel seems contently bound to the Night Court and doesn't really seem to leave unless he has to. Of course, we still have a lot to learn about his character, so maybe he would like to travel, but being a spy is also a 24/7 job. So, even if he did go on vacation, at least half of his attention would most likely remain on his work, and I don't think that would be fair to either of them. I think Elain should be with someone who could give her his undivided attention, and I think Azriel should be with someone who fully understands the struggle, weight and responsibility of everything he does, and though I think Elain could certainly sympathize, I don't think she'd ever fully grasp it because there's things Azriel does that Elain most likely wouldn't approve of, like tourture and from the vibes I get from her, would want to take a more diplomatic route with things. Which is why I see Elain more as a courtier who uses, not weapons, but her words and social graces to fight.

She seems strong and clever but in a different way from her sisters, in an elegant way, like the heroine of a Jane Austen novel, and I can't picture Azriel properly fitting into that kind of role to be with her.

I understand that we still have a lot to learn about these characters, and depending on what way their stories go, they, both the characters and my opinions, could change dramatically, but from what we know about them right now, I don't see them matching up very well.

I don't even know if I'll post this, but if I do, I want to stress that I am not trying to attack anyone in the fandom or the Elriel ship in any way. This is just a post with my current opinions and speculations in an effort to get them out of my head.

Thinking about when Naomi mentioned Andie's friendgroup she wasn't a part of! It was definitely a popular group, too. So there was Andie, Emma and Chloe. There was also Chris, Max and Jamie. So basically girl trio and guy trio. That is what makes sense to me and I have such a vivid image of each personality! To summarize it

Andie: The Queen Bee. Natural leadership skills, bossy, ruthless, ambitious, gorgeous, materialistic, fun loving but also secretly compassionate, motherly and insecure. Andie would definitely be the protective mom friend. She'd be a control freak, too.

Chloe: I imagine Chloe to be a Nat-like personality! She comes across as tough, ruthless confident and blunt. She is never afraid to be brutally straightforward and tell it like it is but she also has a playful side where she likes to mess with others emotions by makung fun of them. Bit of a bad girl vibe as opposed to Andie's clean girl. But she's also loyal, passionate and supportive. Always having your back if you're on her good side. She comes across as rather aggressive but beneath that is quite an insecure and vulnerable girl who's afraid of showing weaknesses and get hurt again. She stays in the group because she enjoys popularity and good time and she's willing to turn a blind eye to a lot of stuff.

Emma: Emma is a bit of a Naomi personality. She comes across as warm, caring and bubbly, being a bit of a people pleaser. She's also usually smooth and social which mixes well with her warm, motherly nature. Emma is the most naive out of three girls and is mainly in group because she wants to fit in and maintain friendships she believes are genuine. She has a bit of a nerdy side where she's interested in history, especially history of fashion. Emma is also very insecure and those insecurities can make her act out and mess up. That's why she's rather unpredictable and has that air of mystery around true nature of her intentions.

Jamie: Jamie can be a difficult person to predict or put in a box. He's known as a bit of a silent troublemaker who's good at manipulation and is always up to something. He's fun loving, moody,laidback and despite prefering to just goof around, has a serious, calculating side to himself that gives him an air of mystery. Jamie is also caring and protective of those he holds close. Jamie struggles with self esteem issues which make it difficult for him to have hope in himself or some ambitions. That leads him to find an escape within hedonism, partying, alcohol, messing around and sex. Jamie has many intellectual interests and is a bit of a nerd, too.

Max: Max is known as your typical class clown jock. He comes across as chaotic, chirpy, loud and goofy. Always up to something and never having any chill. He's known for his unpredictable mood swings. He can be bouncing off the walls, living it up one mo ent and then sit in the corner sulking the next. Max has this childish edge to him where he can't fully grasp consenquences of things he says/does which leads to trouble. Max is a shameless attention seeker. He can get pretty manipulative, sneaky about it too. Despite how he acts, he's known to be a bit naive and a people pleaser towards the right people. Underneath the manic persona, Max is emotionally wrecked, desperate for attention/affection and struggling with self esteem and deep insecurities. He doesnt have much goals in his life except of living it to the fullest while he can and maybe find someone who will understand him for once.

Chris: Chris is known as the hotest guy in school, sure but he doesnt really care that much. He's the type that comes across laidback, warm and smooth. He's usually rather calm and reserved, being a bit shy. He's the kindest out of the boys, being a bit of a people pleaser. He has a playful, fun loving side and is always up for a good time. Chris is known to be a bit naive, too. Chris is really insecure underneath the surface tho. Those insecurities can make him act out recklessly aswell. Chris is also smart and a good student that has a natural curiosity towards knowledge. He is good in science, history and it became an inside joke that he's a walking google search. Chris is mostly there because he likes validation and benefits that come from being popular aswell as to maintain friendships with his boys. However Chris is also bit of a mysterious person because he has a cunning, sneaky side to him and no one is sure about his true morals and intentions. He turns a blind eye to a lot of things, too.

brain worms got to me so. how the tf classes and their overwatch counterparts would feel about each other. i just got into tf2 so this might not be Super accurate but i'm going off vibes so whatever.

spy and sombra: i'm getting begrudging respect from spy and probably annoyance or dislike from sombra. they can get along, sure, but they probably wouldn't seek each other out voluntarily. just the mutual knowledge they'd stab each other in the back to protect themselves but also knowing they probably won't have to do that.

spy and echo (bc she duplicates ppl): echo would learn a lot from him and i think they'd actually end up liking each other somewhat! she's too polite and genuinely earnest for him to dislike her, and i can't see echo really HATING anyone. he'd give her social skills lessons and she'd have fun putting her lessons to use, then running back to him to ask how she did.

demoman and junkrat: they'd blow each other up and laugh about it together, no hard feelings at all. these two are the type to literally attack each other with cartoon hammers just to see the other person squashed all funny like a pancake. LOTS of respawns here. inseparable.

soldier and pharah: she'd be annoyed by him because of his... well, his everything, but he'd probably have a lot of respect for her, especially since she has a much easier time rocket jumping and can actually fly for short bursts. he's like an annoying dog that she can't get away from.

sniper and widow: they would never talk to each other. this is a silent conversation. nothing is going on here. they wouldn't even work together because they're both snipers and they'd move the hell across the map away from each other. mutual respect but they have literally never spoken.

heavy and zarya: oh they'd be besties 0 doubt about it, two huge strong russian mercenaries with giant fucking weapons? nah they're best friends. catch them wrestling at any hour of the day just for shits and giggles. also one of the loudest pairs ever if you get them going.

engineer and torbjorn: probably good friends who work together well. engineer seems like he'd be good with kids and he would probably be really sweet with torb's family. engie is very calm and could balance out torbs intense energy well, plus they're both VERY technically competent which creates a lot of respect. overall buddies.

scout and tracer: i think they'd honestly hit it off!! scout to me gives off a sort of... idk what a fag hag is for lesbians but that's what he is to me. they'd race and she'd win every time if she was trying but sometimes she lets him get it just to make him feel better. he probably gets a crush on either her or emily for a few months.

pyro and mei: hot take, i think pyro would fucking adore mei. she's so sweet and sunshine and rainbows, how could they not? they'd bond over a mutual love of cute things and would be very playful with each other, but mei would be kind of weirded out and scared by how much pyro genuinely seems to LIKE burning people alive. they would def be friendly tho.

medic and mercy: honestly, i think mercy would feel about him like she does moira - a genuine respect and awe for his work, but total revulsion at the way he does it. nonetheless, he actually cares for his teammates in a way moira does not, so she'd like him for that. i think medic would like her but think she's a bit of a coward or her heart isn't in it (the second half which is literally true). they could work together, but they'd constantly try to influence each other in a way that would become a very annoying power struggle over time.

medic and ana (bc of uber/nano): she'd hate him. she'd literally kill him in his sleep if she could. she'd avoid him at all fucking costs. she does not like this guy and mercy would be stuck trying to keep them apart so he doesn't innocently ask a question about her tech or something and end up sleep darted in the hallway.

Oh, Dadhaul is definitely interesting flavour.

I want to preface this by saying; I am honestly the type of person, who doesn't really vibe with AUs that substantially warp the personality of a character to fit the premise. Just not my cup of tea. So if you were asking Dadhaul in the sense of "AU where he genuinely cares about Eri and is a good father to her" then unfortunately I cannot give you that.

I think Kai is terrible with children. I think he doesn't like them a lot either, because they are loud, snotty, still have a lot to learn and frequently act in unpredictable ways. He doesn't understand them and they do not understand him. Not to mention that his capacity to care about people is very limited.

However, with that in mind. I have a very particular flavour I actually quite like. Which is Kai, having no reason like Rewind or others to be cruel to Eri but still being obligated to care for her. So you have this man, who is definitely not suited to care for a child, trying and often being absolutely lost on HOW. I think it would make for quite the comedy tbh.

Anyway, here's some headcanons:

He speaks to Eri like he'd speak to any adult. Which, my Kai, has a tendency to talk too formally, very precise in his words and complicated. Eri often does not understand him, or asks him what his fancy words mean. Eventually she thus picks up his speaking habits and you have this actual six year old using words like "bothersome". He also nitpicks her grammar and pronunciation because baby-talk annoys him. Others often call him out to be mean but that won't stop him.

Education. I think if he actually had an aim of raising Eri he'd be the type of person to think it's very important. He's a smart-ass after all. So Eri should have good grades! Especially in maths and science fields!! Though tbh Kai also has his opinions on the quality of public education; he thinks it leaves much to be desired....

The school is probably terrified of Kai and Eri's teachers wouldn't dare give her bad grades because they fear the resting-bitch-face Yakuza guy would murder them all.

Kai would probably also raise her into becoming another high ranking member of the Yakuza, since she is related to the boss after all. She'd be taught all about business, social hierarchy, how to behave, etc. Also please imagine small Eri watching as Kai does business / threatens a man with terrible violence.

Definitely the type of parent to hit you with the "I am not mad, I am simply disappointed in you." and it guilt trips you so hard.

Kai is often confused and bewildered by things the child asks of him. The logic and imagination of children escapes him in general. For example, if Eri were to ask him if the moon was made of cheese or if she could reach out and grab it since it is so small. Sometimes he retells these statements to Hari like he'd just learnt the most shocking news.

Eri can ask him about anything and Kai would explain it to her without a filter, be it something minor, something much too scientific for her to comprehend or even something other adults would consider inappropriate for children. He doesn't avoid subjects. He also has no filter and he does not sugar coat anything.

Kai cooks. I believe he does that anyway, because he is rather concerned about his food being made under sanitary conditions. He is also rather concerned about nutrition, though will more-so watch the child's diet than his own. He is a bit of a hypocrite about it, but sometimes obsessing about work is much more important to him than food or sleep.

In general if there is one thing Kai is attentive of is that the child doesn't get sick. Perhaps a bit too excessively sometimes. Also Eri knows Kai's rules on cleaning like the back of her hand.

Eri very soon learns that Kai cannot give her emotional support. Like no, he's just terrible at it. He will walk out if you cry in front of him. But, she knows exactly that if there is any type of straight up problem that needs solving and she doesn't know how he is possibly the best to ask for advice because he is hardwired to solve problems; will either give very practical advice or just solve it for her directly. Just very bluntly "Okay, this is what you do."

Limited list of pets are allowed which is essentially reptiles, amphibians or fish. Give Eri like... a lil lizard... or turtle... cute.

Kai's attention can be grabbed by developing similar interests that he has. Eri asks him to learn Shogi and he spends extensive amounts of time on it. Eri developes an interest in scientific topics and he suddenly endlessly explains to her who certain things work and why.

Also all things considered, Kurono or someone else who actually knows how to handle children will have to co-parent. For the sake of the child, it's for the best.

Newest OC: Uhh i guess Robin? They are In My Brain but i have yet to do a playthrough with them lol

Oldest OC: In general? Des xD (she was a warrior cats oc i made when i was 11 but she's still very dear to me <3). For DA, it's Neira! I played he games in order & she was my first Warden :)

Meanest OC: June for sure lol. Both in that she is very blunt and does not belive in lying for the sake of being nice, and in that she is the most likely to be actively mean on purpose. 2nd Place goes to Noya because she can also be really nasty when she wants to be.

Softest OC: Oof hard pick :') I have come to terms with the fact that i am unable to make OCs who are not softies in some way or another, and they definitely all are. But.. i wanna say Kala? Because she has a big nature vs nurture contrast, and once she has the chance to she is actually very soft, and very deliberately. In that she craves a lot of closeness with loved ones, but also in that she sees the beauty in the small things, and in being determined to spite cruelty through small kindnesses.

Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: Also Kala xD She is. Not sociable at all fsdfjk and is also not overly involved; yes she cares, but she also knows how to distance herself.

Dumbest (affectionate) OC: I wouldn't call any of them *dumb*, but at the same time, all of them are at least A Little Bit dumb <3 Liam is the most likely to have brainlag or head empty moments, June is the one who will do dumb things despite knowing better and/or not think things through, Lilian will have internal "yeah i got this :)" (she has not got this) moments the most, and so on.

Smartest OC: Tie between Ari and June! At least for the traditional definition of smart lol. Ari is very booksmart, is very good at remembering things, processing concrete information, thinking ahead and making elaborate plans. His thoughts are always 5 steps ahead and sometimes it feels like he is thinking for three people at once. As long as he has precise information to work with, he's gonna make it work.

June is the opposite, she is really bad at encyclopedia type knowledge or planning but is super good at conceptualising abstract ideas, at making connections and bending thoughts this way and that, at combining ideas and theorising. She has a good intuition for how conceptual ideas might work in practice, and a creative approach to problem solving.

Bonus shoutout to Var'renan for being the most people-smart. They're very perceptive and very good at reading people and social cues.

OC I'd Probably Be Friends With: Well, i would say i'd probably vibe with Renan or Kala or Ari, but irl i seem attract all the extroverts, so chances are i'd end up being friends with Noya or June or Adriel lmao. Ig Adriel would be the best bet though. Cos she's energetic but not overly so, she'd still be totally down to just hang out and chill; we're both chatty but awkward talkera sometimes and would probably hype each other up really well when we get exited

The positions actually had a good amount of thought behind them! I picked Sun for second base because from my own personal experience, second base has to communicate lots with other players, constantly move from side to side around their base, and really just needs lots of energy and range. I thought Sun would be a good fit for that, plus it sounded funny in my head for him to be the one shouting the plays. As for Moon's role as pitcher, he already has a good figure for it, very flexible and lean to get the full range of motion, and he'd totally get a kick out of tricking the batter as to what kind of pitch he's going to throw. He may not be actively trying to kill whoever's on the plate, but he's getting there with how close that ball is getting to their face and still being called as a strike. Lastly, I'm not entirely sure, but he just gives off the vibe that every action is coordinated specifically to mess with you. (Also, personally, pitchers are terrifying.)

As for the numbers, I gave Sun his number first because it's just my favorite jersey number, I guess. Has a bit of sentimentality to me, and I thought it would be nice for him to have it since he's not in an attention-grabbing position like Moon is. Moon, on the other hand, has a lower number (but not too far from Sun's) because of his role as the pitcher, because he's naturally less replaceable on the field. I also just wanted to include a zero on his jersey number, lmao. (Bonus: I was tempted to give him 32, but that seemed like too high of a jersey number.)

For the rest of the team, I'm not entirely sure, but these are the ideas I've had!

Monty - Back-Catcher (He's just built for it, also I think he'd have way too much fun stopping runners from getting home.)

Roxy - First Base! (I don't know why, but I like this one. She'd probably enjoy the attention from stopping runners in their tracks. Plus, she'd coordinate well with Monty. Been thinking about this for a solid minute.)

Chica - Outfield (?) or Shortstop (She just feels like a right outfielder, y’know? Plus there’s the bonus of lots of audience interaction in the stadium, hehe. At the same time, she feels like one of the more mobile Glamrocks, so she’d probably be able to get around a fair amount.)

Team Captain Freddy - Third Base (I’d like to make him short stop, but he just isn’t mobile enough for that, y’know? Sun could very well be short stop as well, now that I’m thinking about it. Third base does feel like a very social position, and he’s able to communicate well with Monty despite the latter being a pain in the rear, so it’s a good position for him!)

DJMM - Outfielder! (I’m more sure about him than Chica for this role, and he feels like a left outfield type of guy. He’s a big boy! No ball is getting past him. Though he’s not his canonical size in this au, of course. Some modifications are needed.)

For the rest of the positions, they’d likely be filled by modified staff bots (OR OCS!!), or maybe some of the retired animatronics? Bonnie or Foxy perhaps? Bonnie feels like a center-fielder, honestly.

I’ve joked around about opposing teams with a few other creators, but I’m genuinely not sure who they’d play against! It wouldn’t be fair to pit them against other humans, (Unless, like, it’s an all-star team lmao) but I don’t feel like any of the older animatronics would be fit to play. (Maybe FNAF 2 animatronics? They fit the type-) If you guys want to mess around, you could always make teams to go against them, hehe. I’d love to see what you guys could do with your own characters or concepts.

William has some influence here!!! Did you hear about their pitcher getting injured? What a poor thing. Oh, but I also heard he hurt someone, and that’s why he got taken out! Really? I thought he fell ill. If robots can even fall ill. Teehee. Have some doodles!

hii, im just kinda curious so sorry if this is kinda annoying 😭 but what are ur thoughts on blossom x boomer?

blossoomer is… fine. i don't have any strong positive opinions on it but it's honestly just cus of the fanon tropes i see for it. 'nerd x idiot' is a dynamic i hate, and the various 'autism x adhd' that's been shoved down my throat is getting a little tiring too.

it's all pretty stigmatizing, and centering a ship entirely around those two facets is enough to just make me lose interest. i don't hate blossoomer, but i've definitely been put off it more than once.

factor in that in [my] headcanon, they don't even share friend groups, so there's not a lot of reason for them to overlap or get together. blossom and boomer are both characters i struggle to really match with anybody romantically, so there's that too.

i don't really have a lot to say about them, though, so this post isn't going to be nearly as in-depth as i try to explore other ships. sorry !

all that being said, i do understand the appeal of blossoomer as well. looking at it without my personal biases against fanon and headcanons, they're kinda cute.

they kind of give me ice cream parlor vibes at first ? like boomer would try to impress blossom with more traditional/classic date locations; the slow-paced ones where you walk around the boardwalk or the park, stop for a coffee or a lunch. inoffensive, not overly romantic or grand gesturing.

he probably is hoping to show blossom that he's able to take things slow. maybe worries about scaring her away.

a total misread of who she is, as by the sixth date, she's probably decided that a monster fight is a way to ramp up the pace a little bit. covered in guts and detritus and questionable fluids by the end of it, a little out of breath, but triumphant and grinning - and if boomer wasn't already smitten, well now he's entirely head over heels because wow.

there's an allure to put-together blossom turning out to be something of a 'dynamite babe' ? you kind of forget she's capable of levelling a cityblock when she spends so much time behaving as a regular, powerless citizen; focusing on her studies, her career path, very normal things that belie just how dangerous she can be.

boomer's a moth to a lamp that way.

the other side of it i think is blossom thinks boomer's just generic retriever boyfriend material at the start. it's not exactly the type of person she'd be satisfied in settling for, so she jumps them into action to see how he'll do.

he's… still kind of a retriever boyfriend. but it seems like after the little spectacle, something's broken down the barrier that kept him passing the boundary into truly engaging. it's like he had kept himself tightly-wound so as not to scare her away - and there's probably history in that, probably been shut down a few times before for being 'too much' - only to spring to life with this newfound reassurance that blossom can take it.

Ohhh i love this question! Okay, here's my thoughts:

Matt: I can see him playing basketball in school simply bc he enjoys the social aspect of being on a team, and he's tall enough that he'd probably be pretty good at it without trying too hard. That said, he'd have followed in his mom's footsteps and taken up boxing, no doubt.

Dan: Dan would have been into soccer, I can just feel it. It has the same fast-paced, competitive team sport vibe and she'd have kicked ass at it.

Seth: He'd have been a hockey player. Don't ask me to elaborate, he just has that vibe.

Allison: Alli might have been pushed by parents to take up a more traditionally female-dominated sport, like ice skating, cheer or ballet, but I think she would have ended up playing hockey as well. She loves the brutality of Exy too much to pick anything less violent.

Renee: Renee would have been a soccer player too. Gotta have that Walker-Wilds rivalry, yk?

Delilah is an ace lesbian!! I like to think she'd be very gentle and tender if she were to get into a relationship but it's really hard to get close to her and she has little time anyways to focus on her personal life. She loves being an aunt though! I think nearly all the people close to her are allosexual so by comparison she might feel a bit isolated sometimes and lacking someone to talk and relate with about asexuality. That, and the Pride district demons tend to be really invasive or crass if they feel like throwing nasty comments so it's something Delilah has to keep close to her. She has thick skin yeah and doesn't think of herself as the type to need lots of support but it can definitely frustrate her that her aceness is really invisible in her day to day life. Obviously Deirdre and Lassi for example are very supportive to her but they're both kinda slutty so they wouldn't have common ground with her on that, which I can say from experience can feel really isolating. Obviously not saying aces can't be slutty but Delilah herself is sex neutral to averse, leaning more on the latter usually.

She's not terribly interested in dating though and/or has given up things like that due to her profession but Her identity as a butch lesbian is meaningful to her especially since she's a trans woman, so it's definitely been a journey for her. It's hard to put exactly into words rn but ykno how your orientation still affects your personal life and feelings about other people even if you weren't actively on the dating scene? That's true for Delilah as well. I sometimes think she might also be gray or demiromantic as well but regardless, having a partner isn't relevant to her life situation rn and I don't think she could see herself trying to seek one anyway anytime soon. She's content with having her family and (very very) few friends. She's very introverted.

5 = how did you figure out your oc's identity?

Uhh I think it all came soon after I figured out her being a trans woman? I kinda simultaneously decided both she and Xerxes should be trans bc fuck yeah!!!! Lesbian was just bc. Vibes. And butch women go brrr and she had the perfect vibe to be that but her being ace does have some deeper thought behind it. Since she is a butch transbian I kinda wanted some spot of her character to be subversive and I know there's a bit of a gross stereotype around both trans and butch women that portrays them as inherently more sexual and perverse (glances hatefully at terfs), so I wanted to make her ace. I know and see the infantilism often aimed at ace people and I think we need more hardass cool ace characters. Obviously you don't wanna go too far in the other direction and imply asexuality makes someone cold and jaded but you get the point I'm trying to make with this (Tangent: wow I'm just realizing the dumbass shit ace people have to put up with, simultaneously being portrayed as innocent baby beans and also socially awkward cold jerks. Aphobia is a hell of a thing we just can't win can we)

Anyway.

Since she has an overall air of being strong and intimidating, and people could make assumptions about her sexuality based on that, I wanted to do something different there. I personally think aceness adds more interesting depth to her character as opposed to if she were allosexual. I feel like it all ties into an interesting complexity with her strong exterior and soft interior that I just really like. Queer women by beloved

Besides all that, I tend to lean towards making more aro than ace characters since I'm personally more aro than ace, so ykno, wanted to balance it out

This is just for fun, but how do you compare Sakura and Ino characteristics and personalities in your writing? Do you ever found them to be overlapping or do you consider them to be opposite or both?

I think they're very different but complementary characters. These are my personal takes under the cut, since it's a bit long.

To preface, I base everything on the original Naruto manga. I don't read Boruto, don't care about it, don't want to know anything more about it beyond what I've been forced to absorb through cultural osmosis. My takes on Ino's and Sakura's characters are probably going to be different from others who do subscribe to Boruto.

Ino

Ino would have followed in Inoichi's footsteps to become the prime Yamanaka mind reader for Torture and Interrogation post-war. She'd be a top Sensor type, would have worked closely with people like Ibiki and Anko and Shikamaru, and become a high ranking member of Konoha's tactical division. Those interactions would influence and augment certain aspects of her personality and proclivities quite a lot, and they inform how I see her in a post-war world.

I talked a lot about Ino's personality in this post. Ino is someone who I see as the better "people person" between Sakura and her. Meaning, she's above average good at reading people and anticipating what they will do or how they'll react in certain situations. Crucially, she's the type of person who will also act on that information if the situation calls for it, such as to benefit herself, her social standing/reputation, her goals, etc. And in that same vein, whether it's these personality traits or straight up shinobi abilities, she's the type to set a goal and get it the fuck done no matter what (remember her badass moment in the 4th war when she telepathically connected to everyone? Queen shit.). The other post I linked goes into this a bit more, so I won't repeat it here.

I see her as someone who isn't afraid to use tactics like lying and manipulation and charms if they will benefit her endgame. She's cunning and crafty and suave, but she's not a malicious person. Rather, she's demonstrated a high capacity for empathy and compassion (the basis of her friendship with Sakura, to name the earliest example of that). But I think she is also the type who is willing and able to get her hands dirty, keep secrets, and condone tactics that other personality types (like Sakura) would deem going too far or would find reprehensible. Two things can be true at the same time, and they make her a really interesting and contradictory person. She's your bitchy BFF. She's the person who will dig too deep into something because she is a dog with a bone, and this makes her capable of hurting people, however unintentionally.

Which is why she really benefits from having a friend like Sakura who will check her on that.

Sakura

Sakura is very much what you see is what you get. She's not cunning or crafty or manipulative the way Ino is (she can be those things insomuch as any person can be those things, but I wouldn't call them defining or key traits like I would for a character like Ino). Sakura wears her emotions on her sleeve, is straightforward and to the point, and highly determined. Like Ino, her personality is complemented by and reflected in her abilities and fighting style. She is front line, in your face, honest and unsubtle and no bullshit. The opposite of Ino in many ways. I think Kishi made those choices purposefully (although, I always hesitate to give him too much credit considering his track record with women).

Sakura has protagonist-chan vibes, which makes sense considering that is who she is in the manga. She gets the underdog story, the smurfette "I can keep up with the boys and I'll prove it to you" story, and that makes her relatable to literally anyone who grew up with insecurities and worked to overcome them. (Crucially, Ino doesn't have that arc because she never had those same insecurities or competition with her boys.)

All of this makes Sakura a lot less complicated and more vanilla than Ino. I don't mean that in a bad way at all, I just mean that given her standing in the manga as a deuteragonist, she is THE female character and therefore much easier for people to project themselves on to. That's why there are so many more fics and fanworks centering her than Ino. Sakura is hashtag relatable to so many people, and that's her main appeal and why she's so successful as a female character. But, unlike a lot of cardboard female protagonists in other media, she's able to be those things and have a distinct personality and unique traits, and I really like that about her! Ino is a harder pill to swallow because her personality is messier, rougher, more jagged than Sakura's. Again, none of this is bad! It's just the way a lot of archetypes go. Think about any of your favorite media. The relatable "everyman" protagonist female character usually has a "sassy best friend" type who doesn't share her insecurities and, instead, acts as a cheerleader to help her move past them. That's how Sakura and Ino are set up in the manga. It's a very traditional and oft-used archetype, which doesn't make it bad. It just is.

That archetype dynamic makes them great together, which is kind of the whole point of characterizing them in that way. Ino is often the sassy BFF in fics about Sakura, but I really love to see Sakura has her very important BFF in Ino fics too. I think it's an underutilized dynamic (just purely from a statistical standpoint since there are exponentially more Sakura fics than Ino fics). But if we consider that they are best friends, it stands to reason that they have a lot in common too. You can't tell me Sakura is best friends with someone like Ino and is just vanilla protagonist-chan a la Hallmark rom coms. Nah, that girl is some bless-this-mess chaos. Her bull in a china shop tendencies make her such a great complement to Ino. Sakura can be hilarious, chaotic, and weird and keep up with Ino's sharp wit and unapologetic judgment. They're like a comedic duo where one of them is the "straight man" and the other is clown shoes, but the fun twist is those roles are seamlessly interchangeable between them. I write them this way in my fic The Heiress and the Hierophant.

Sakura and Ino both are fantastic characters with plenty of room to build upon their canon foundations if you put in some work. I do wish more people would give Ino a fair shake as main and let Sakura live that fun BFF life. She's excellent as the BFF. And I haven't even touched on the excellent InoSaku romantic dynamics that exist! There's so much there between them, and all of it is good.

i wonder how exactly do people manage to get diagnosis? i'm suspecting i might have high-functioning depression, because in the past month all i do is sleep and eat and not shower for... days. i only shower when i feel very greasy. changing into proper clothes feels like a bother, so i never went out to get food, and rely on online delivery instead. seeing how much money i wasted bc i get deliveries instead of walking to food stalls is kinda alarming, but i'm aware that the other alternative is me not even eating at all. i only go to my campus like... 3x a week? i can manage to appear normal and feel a bit normal when with my friends, but my thesis is also pretty stressful. idk what i'm trying to convey but basically at campus i appear normal (except maybe my slow progress at thesis), but when i'm back at my dorms i become this... very passive person.

i'm seeing a therapist, mainly bc back when my thesis first started, i got so overwhelmed i had passive suicidal thoughts. but i find myself not being able to be honest abt the extent of my struggles. i'm very embarrassed to admit that i've been having difficulty with hygiene. my therapist gives off a mom vibe, so i think i'm scared to be judged for my lack of hygiene... not showering for days, not even changing my clothes or underwear, not brushing my teeth, not cleaning my living space and letting ants surround leftover food... so i always made myself presentable during session. idk, seeing as the session is in-person, i dont think she'd take it well if she know someone who didnt bathe for days entered her clean room. but me pretending that everything is okay makes her think im just having normal thesis struggles, which sucks. but im also scared to be honest abt my hygiene issues.

another thing is my social anxiety. its actually so bad that i cant go out of my dorm room without making sure there arent anyone outside. im not acquainted with anyone in the dorm, i dont even know their names or how they look. but im also scared to tell my therapist abt this??? im scared she will tell me to make friends to overcome my anxiety??? which is scary??? i feel self conscious bc what if someone has been paying attention to how i barely ever leave my room or that they never hear any showering sounds from me??? idk its scary. im pretty sure i have social anxiety, but my therapist has managed to make me open up and im not super quiet during sessions and can behave mostly like myself so i unconsciously put on a mask that always makes me be in denial abt my issues (in this case, pretending i have proper social skills, instead of admittinh i shrivel in fear when put in new social situations)

my thesis is also very much in bad state but instead of telling my therapist that my advisor thinks i havent been taking the thesis seriously (which hurts, bc i do worry abt its progress, even if it looks like im not making proper progress), i tell her that my worries arent proportional to the reality (bc my catastrophizing mind thought i would need to redo everything, while the reality is i only got told to make changes).

tldr im scared to be honest to my therapist bc of internalized shame and all that, even tho thats the reason i decided to pursue therapy? but also its scaryyy. esp the hygiene part. ppl around me are the clean types who hates messy stuff so i think it exacerbates the shame. esp bc i dont just have a messy room, but also havent been showering for days

First of all I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. Please know you're not alone. I admit that I also struggle with hygiene in a very similar way as well as consistently eating takeout, and I have diagnosed depression. It sounds like you have some big and intimidating responsibilities right now, and that's perhaps feeding into your depressive symptoms. You feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, and lost.

I understand the resistance to open up to your therapist about things that you have internalized shame about. Please just know that one of the main purposes of a therapist is to not make you feel judged or ridiculed, and any therapist who does do this doesn't deserve their position because it's damaging to a client. That is the last thing you need right now.

I can definitely relate to feeling judged by your therapist solely out of internalized shame alone and not any sort of cues on their end. In my experience, every time I did decide to open up about the thing I was ashamed about, it always ended up going much better than I anticipated. That being said, if you are picking up on cues from your therapist that makes you feel like she would judge you for opening up about this, then this therapist may not be a good fit for you. You deserve a therapist that doesn't make you feel judged.

I recognize that it can be an intimidating hurdle to decide to talk about these uncomfortable subjects with your therapist. But please consider that once you do choose to talk about it, your therapist can give you tools and direction to figure out how to manage both your depression and your social anxiety. Ultimately, it's important to take your time with this - don't feel pressured necessarily into opening up to your therapist, do so when you feel ready, but just consider the fact that you deserve help.

tipsy opinion asks: Do you think any member of the akatsuki actually knows how to flirt?

okay. you know what. akatsuki ranked by ability to flirt (best to worst):

1. Konan - Konan is a pretty lady which means sometimes frequently she says perfectly ordinary things and men think she's flirting with them. I can't see Konan actually trying to flirt very often, but she'd be the best at it for this reason alone.

2. Deidara - The fact that Deidara snagged the number two spot is more of an indication of how terrible everyone below him is than Deidara's actual flirt game. What Deidara has going for him: cute, social, good at conversation as long as he can stay chill. What Deidara has going against him: has never been able to stay chill for more than about seven minutes in a row. He is REALLY good at snagging hook-ups based on the extra mouths thing alone.... but also sometimes he starts screaming about art and the other person just. Has to leave, immediately.

3. Kisame - has successfully picked up people in the past. has some lines he likes to use. their success rate has less to do with what he's saying and more to do if the person he's hitting on likes the idea of hooking up with a giant blue missing-nin smh. is okay at flirty banter but not, like, great? More normal than Deidara but does sometimes make jokes about cutting off children's legs.

4. Hidan - I feel like Hidan is actually... sort of.... okay to hang out with unless he starts talking about religion? Like he enjoys complaining but he's social and conventionally attractive, and I get the impression Hidan would nod along and agree with whatever you want to complain about. So I think Hidan probably does alright right up until the whole Jashin thing comes up, and it will come up. Where as Deidara's art rants are more "(nervous laugh) this guy is sort of nuts" and Kisame's dad jokes about bodily harm are like "Sometimes men just think weird stuff is funny...." Hidan gives off STRONG serial axe murderer vibes.

(As a benchmark: I had a roommate who used to use "Are you a drug dealer?" as a pick up line on tinder. It would work sometimes and I absolutely cannot figure out how, but I think this is about the quality of flirtations you'd get from Hidan.)

5. Kakuzu - Kakuzu doesn't really flirt so much as walk up to you and make an offer. "You're hot. Wanna fuck?" It's not very GOOD flirting but at least he's upfront and honest.

6. Itachi - has read all the literature on seduction. he knows what he's doing, okay, Kisame? (He does not.) Horrible at flirting but sometimes accidentally pick people up anyway because he's acceptably good-looking, smh

7. Pein - Pein wouldn't have the slightest idea how to flirt. He'd probably go for very awkward but sincere compliments like, "I enjoy the way your hair shines in the fire of your burning village." Thank you, Pein.

Damara: Honestly She gives chaotic impure vibes, or fully chaotic evil. I absolutely could not see her playing a lawful character seriously, and I feel like she would want to undermine the party's goals at least a little bit. She will derail the campaign.

Rufioh: Chaotic moral - chaotic neutral. He has chaotic energy, and I think he would play chaotic neutral right. Like with actual characterization instead of just random everything. For the moral lean it's because I think he would want a little bit of a heroic campaign. He would be that guy trying to make dnd into anime though.

Mituna: Chaotic neutral, sometimes leaning moral or impure. He wants to help out the party, but sometimes gets fed up with them not listening to him. There have definitely been TPKs because someone ignored Mituna. When he leans moral, he's a little self-sacrificial for the party, and when he leans impure he's just going to let them deal with the consequences of their own actions.

Kankri: Lawful good to the point of chaotic evil. He would be the meme about the lawful good paladin micromanaging everyone's slightly illegal or evil thoughts. He would truly be lawful stupid. He would think it's problematic to play any non-good aligned character without good reason.

Meulin: Chaotic good. Mostly vibes, but I think it suits her. I also think she'd want a light-ish campaign, with some cool moments. She just strikes me as the type to have an RP heavy campaign, and try to help out npcs in ways filled with chaos and laughter. IDK, just her vibes.

Porrim: I think she'd like playing Neutral moral, and that she's gonna want her characters to have some internal conflict. I think she'd mostly use her characters as an extension of self, to help her process some things or overcome some issues she might be having. While I think neutral moral will be her main, I also think it would depend on what she needs to play at that time.

Latula: Rebel good. Mostly because it suits her cool girl energy, but also a bit of her true self. She's not fully dropping her radical mask, but her character can be badass and a dork this way. I think she'd pick rebel because it sounds the coolest, and then really like it.

Aranea: Social moral. She wants a lore focused high RP campaign, and will get frustrated if people spend too much time on combat. She's not going to play full lawful good, because she wants to have the freedom to commit a few crimes with good reason without needing to commit to a character arc/alignment switch. Let her have the political intrigue plotline, she'll lightly blackmail the corrupt noble and be happy with her not quite a saint character.

Horuss: Lawful neutral, maybe leans moral. I don't think he would be comfortable playing something chaotic, and I don't think he'd enjoy playing an overtly malicious character. He would take lawful as following law and most tradition. I think it's one of the only alignments that would be in his comfort zone.

Kurloz: I think he'd like the nuance that comes with true neutral. He would have some really intriguing character arcs, and get super into the campaign. He would have a preference for RP over combat, but still enjoy combat sessions. He would also occasionally pull out the silliest joke character you've ever seen.

Cronus: Chaotic neutral. He likes the 'do what I want' aspect of the alignment. He might take it as an excuse to do literally anything he feels like. He would want to be allowed to do pretty much whatever he wants, but still have a heroic campaign. He would probably call consequences railroading. This is kind of harsh, but I call it like I see it.

Meenah: Chaotic evil. Less edgy, and more just generic brand evil. She might also play chaotic neutral, but there would be only a 10% difference in how she plays evil vs. neutral. She'd focus more on blackmail and theft than murder. She would still derail the campaign hard though, and would always suggest murder when they're in a tough spot. She just wants to start a crime ring as the campaign.

Honestly, I want to see them try to play a session together. It sounds chaotic as all hell.

What sort of pride apparel do you think the characters would wear/have, if any?

Joey Gutierrez: He has a wristband he wears often enough, and for pride month he wears a bit more stuff. He wears things like backpacks with rainbow straps and a shirt with the gay flag (holy heck I just realized his sexuality is never confirmed as solely gay. He could be bi or something, but I'm pretty sure he is gay).

Peggy Carter: I don't know enough about queer history. She would have something subtle from her time period. Very subtle. This is a time where it was illegal for homosexuals to have federal jobs, such as director of S.H.I.E.L.D. But more recently, I like to think Sharon gave her a little bookmark or something colored like the bisexual flag.

Valkyrie: If she was on Earth, I think she would look really nice with thread braided into her hair to make a bisexual flag. It would look super pretty.

Ayo: Again, I don't know how pride is celebrated in Wakanda, but if there is anything, that's what she would do. I get the vibes from her that she'd like have rainbows on social media or something though.

Loki Laufeyson: He would have some clothes in the colors of the greyromantic, pansexual, and asexual flags, but not straight out the flags. And he'd have a couple of easy to hide apparel, things like this.

Also, I like to imagine Scott doing a card trick in front of him, joking that he can do magic too. Loki is interested (because he's being nice) and he finds it funny that Scott insists on showing him a bunch of ace cards. So Scott starts jokingly buying him stuff with aces of spades, and Loki is down because that is ace as heck.

Bucky Barnes: He has lots of shirts, flags, and all sorts of stuff. I like to think he has rainbow laces he wears with his shoes. He has lots of things that, even if they aren't explicitly queer, give him vibes. Things like the purple lava lamp he found on clearance and a red, purple, and teal tie dye shirt he found at a thrift shop. They aren't mean to be greysexual or bisexual, but they give off the vibes.

Wanda Maximoff: She'd have things with all the flags that apply to her. Those being abrosexual, bisexual, pansexual, aromantic, and asexual. On days where she's aroace, she'll wear her aroace stuff. Pan stuff on pan days. You get the point. And she wears her abrosexual stuff all of the time. She has things like rings, denim jacket with the flags ironed on, maybe shoes kind of like these.

Lance Hunter: He has a watch with a bisexual flag band that he wears a lot. And he likes to throw in bi stuff or rainbow stuff wherever he can. Things like the soles of his shoes being rainbow or his jacket being lined with bi colors.

Daisy Johnson: She does her make up in bi and demi colors, but that's mainly during pride month. Normally, she has a bracelet like the one I had pictured with Loki. She has a T-shirt that says something like "Inhuman, Queer, & Proud" she got because there are starting to be queer inhuman groups.

Jemma Simmons: She'll dress in pink, purple, and blue as a subtle bi flag. In June, Daisy does her make up sometimes. Jemma has cute little decorations she'll have, like a cup in bi colors to hold pencils or her phone's wallpaper as a cool pink to blue ombre with stars or something. Her and Fitz have matching bi wristbands someone got them as a wedding gift.

Leopold Fitz: He has the bi wristband same as Jemma. Other than that? I don't see him being the type of person to do all sorts of flag or pride or whatever stuff. He's heteroromantic bisexual, that's all. Part of it is that he doesn't want to be given crap for being varioriented ("you can f*ck a guy but not fall in love" sort of bs), but even if he was biromantic and bisexual, it's just not really his thing, so have a bunch of random colorful things shouting to the world that he's queer when he prefers to keep this very, very private.

Steve Rogers: Steve has bi and rainbow gear, but it's not something he normally wears. More of a pride thing.

Carol Danvers: She changes her suit to the lesbian flag for pride month! Outside of that, she seems like a person to wear lesbian flag socks. Which is totally random and idk if those even exist, but I get the vibes.

Peter Parker: MJ bought him some bi pins that he has saved in his room. He has some general mspec ones he wears around, that make him look supportive of hims omnisexual girlfriend, and he also can be secretly proud of his bisexuality. He also has an mspec solidarity shirt he only wears at home, with MJ, with Ned, or with Tony. It has bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, omnisexual, abrosexual, and other flags and has some phrase about them all being friendly.

MJ Watson: She'd wear lots of omnisexual and mspec pins. Omni for her, and mspec for her and Peter. She'd have a pair of black doc martens that she doesn't wear often but have rainbow laces. She also has a plaid shirt with the omnisexual colors.

Tess: Again, sad day, she doesn't really have anything for pride.

Sam Wilson: Most of his stuff is rainbow things. He was pretty certain he was queer but didn't know in what way, so he only got rainbow stuff for a long time. And he isn't in a spot where he's comfortable to come out as aromantic, so he just says he's queer. But he has an aro flag on the boat, and a tiny little aro flag magnet he keeps on the wings.

Mantis: Gamora gave her a bunch of whatever the galaxy terms to be ace stuff.

Nebula: Someone on Earth would buy her this shirt as a joke.

And the tank top, and the mug, and the short sleeved shirt, and the 3 quarters sleeved shirt, and the hoodie, and anything they can find with this.

That same person also gets a million things (this time including a bumper sticker they put on her ship) with this design or similar.

Vision: Dude can literally make his own clothes pop out of nowhere. He makes himself a non-binary cape sometimes. He also has a couple of enby gifts from Wanda
