Actually I might as well add onto my thoughts and opinions on what's going on with skk right now.
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot from Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 Episode 10. Dazai sits against the metal wall, holding his injured shoulder. His blood is spattered on the wall behind him. He looks up at Chuuya, who is standing before him with a gun to his head. End ID.]
I still think the drowning in 101 was a trap set by Dazai for Fyodor before he knew Chuuya would be there - it would be weird for him to sacrifice his partner and I see no reason he would flashback to some of their memories and have such a choked voice otherwise. Dazai is not like Mori. This has been long established since Dark Era - he is selfish, and thus bad at actually making the sacrifice play with someone he has an actual connection with. I think the trap was set, Dazai had no choice but to follow through, but hoped that Chuuya would break control and escape. He tries a speech which seems like it's going to be a very genuine farewell... only to switch tacks and play it off as though he doesn't care. I do think there was a possibility Chuuya could've died in that scene... but Dazai was deeply hoping he wouldn't.
Seems a silly thing, for Dazai to be relying on hope so much as a master strategist, but you have to remember that Dazai has a near unshakeable trust in Chuuya. He thinks very highly of him, and has a "Chuuya can push through anything" kind of mentality that he's had since they were teenagers. Of course Chuuya can break through the vampire brainwashing! He just needs the right impetus!
So we have Dazai do what he does best - try to piss off Chuuya. The "sorry there weren't any", the goading him into punching him - this is very typical behaviour for these two, and it might've actually worked if it weren't for Fyodor's intervention.
"Good-bye!" is probably a plan. It's the same name as one of Dazai-sensei's works (his last, unfinished work, in fact...), and we know Double Black's plans are named after the author's stories/poems. Note that it comes right after the first goading he does, when Chuuya is more likely to be agitated and thus aware. But also note that, if this is indeed a plan, then it's a little strange for it to be named after only Dazai's story, without incorporating Chuuya's. Their plans are named after combinations of their works' titles, remember? So, it can be reasonably assumed that this plan is solely Dazai's, that it's possible he came up with it on the fly, and that he is desperately trying to get Chuuya on board.
Unfortunately, the usual goading isn't working, so Dazai turns to something he only very rarely uses, and rarer still to Chuuya's face - and that is sincerity. He's trying to reach him, and I really think that's genuine. He's changing tactics, trying something else - because a) this plan won't work without Chuuya, and b) Chuuya is being mind controlled and you cannot convince me that Dazai isn't still royally pissed off about that. He needs to snap him out of it, now.
Even if this is a plan Dazai came up with on the fly, Chuuya will be able to catch on quickly and go along with it - but only if he is actually conscious enough to do so. Double Black's plans can only work when they are both on the same page, and right now - that's more than a little ambiguous. Dazai actually has no real way of knowing whether or not Chuuya heard him, or even if he did, if he is capable of acting on it - but Dazai's faith in Chuuya is so strong that he naturally assumes Chuuya can break through it. Having him shoot him like that came as a genuine shock.
Fyodor implicitly accuses Dazai of underestimating his partner... but I think it's the exact opposite. Dazai is so used to Chuuya being able to struggle through anything that for him apparently not to be able to in this situation is genuinely blindsiding.
It appears that Dazai, too, has been relying on Chuuya's strength.
Tldr: There is a plan, but it is solely Dazai's, not a typical joint skk plan and he has been trying to communicate it to Chuuya and break past the brainwashing - which means Dazai is actually being horribly genuine right now. Unfortunately... it doesn't seem like Chuuya is conscious enough to participate in this plan at the moment (though possibly conscious enough to, like Akutagawa, prevent himself from making a killing blow).

Your blog is very safe, me thinks. Very comfort, if that makes sense lol. I have a request, feel free to ignore this but I can't help but to wonder what a few BSD men would be like with a very mature/maternal and responsible s/o who tends to put themsleves last and burn themselves out (preferably fem, as I am an older sister who has taken on the role of caregiver and project HEAVILY) I'd like to see Fyodor, Poe, Ranpo and Jouno. (You can throw in anyone else if you want)
BSD boys with a self-sacrificing girlfriend
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡ pairing: Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Edgar Allan Poe, Ranpo Edogawa, Saigiku Jouno x fem!Reader
♡ synopsis: How are they with a caring and self-sacrificing girlfriend?
♡ cw: Swearing, use of fem titles, she/her pronouns, mentions of stress and burnout.
note: Thank you for the sweet message anon <3 it's truly a shame that you and i are the exact same person who have experienced the exact same burden of raising children we didn't choose to have. but i've moved out now so i'm free!! come live with me queen tf we're besties now. apologies for errors and I hope you enjoy x
Tumblr media
Fyodor:
Fyodor is a trad man. I'm sure he has some weird beliefs about how women are supposed to have some normalised feminine traits, but this is too much even for him.
It really pains him to see you be so selfless, truly. Though he admires your kindness and patience, he just wants you to be content. He wants you to be comfortable.
Does he enjoy having what is basically a personal maid around? Yes, yes he does. Does he feel guilty for feeling that? No. But does he recognise that your current self-sacrificing routine is unhealthy? YES HE DOES.
So...he simply does not make you do anything at all. If you want to do something for him that's on you.
If you want to do something for someone *else*, he probably won't really let you. Unless it's like family or something, then he understands, but no, you're not helping that random child get their kite unstuck from that tree no matter how much you want to, myshka.
Fyodor absolutely doesn't involve you in his work. He knows that'll only stress you out more, and that's the last thing you need. As such he keeps you away from his coworkers (especially Mykola. Sorry Mykola lovers)
He comes to value his time spent relaxing with you, because he also acknowledges that he could use a break every now and then as well. There's nothing quite as comforting to him as lounging around alongside you- you don't have to be talking or even doing the same thing, as long as you're there together.
Listen, Fyodor does care about you, and he values your health and wants you to be relaxed and uncaring as much as is possible. But if you, his sweet woman, wants to make him a cup of tea, who is he to turn you down?
Poe:
I don't know exactly how to explain Poe here. Just hear me out
He is genuinely so like stressed and anguished about your lack of self-preservation in favour of caring about others. He constantly thinks about it and writes tragic poems about it and shit
Like he's like 'my love......she does not see herself as i do, as a beautiful star....with every act of kindness her light dims ever so slightly...until she's reduced to nothing.........the irony of the good deeds of man..............;-;'
HE'S SO SAD OKAY HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH AND WANTS TO SEE YOU RELAX FOR ONCE
He will go all out in his attempts to make you feel calm and comfortable and happy. Oh he will buy you SO many presents it's disgusting. He will rent out whole restaurants and like even theme parks and shit if that's your thing. He'll stop at no lengths to give you some respite, and it's honestly quite sweet
All that being said, he does love that you're so attentive and caring about Karl. He's definitely watched you play with him and then started blushing super hard because the word 'parents' suddenly crossed his mind and now he's thinking about children and aaaaaa
ABSOLUTELY writes a scenario in which you can relax. Whatever you want- an empty beach, a forest, a liminal space, he'll write it all for you, and gift you the book so you can go there whenever you want :>
He's basically a sugar daddy, except you're in an actual relationship and it's not all about the money. Your boyfriend just happens to be loaded as fuck
At the end of the day, Poe is such a hypocrite because he himself is such a workaholic that he practically lets it consume him, too!
You're both absolute messes. Drink some water and sleep for god's sake. And for the love of all things good take care of each other.
Ranpo:
Bro knows exactly what's up. Sorry, he's got you all figured out fr
That doesn't mean he won't let you baby him though. At first. He'll just let you, along with everyone else, clean up after him and buy him shit
BUT soon, soon he realises that this behaviour is rather detrimental to your health. He sees the circles under your eyes, he notices these things. And he's like '...oh shit'
Ranpo doesn't have any shame or reservations. He straight up confronts you about it. 'Why don't you ever take care of yourself?' And he's not playing around this time
And no matter what your excuse is, he's like 'not good enough. We're going to get ice cream RIGHT NOW and you're going to talk to me about this. Now lead me to the ice cream parlour immediately'
(I may or may not be paraphrasing this particular quote)
The point is that he presents you an avenue to open up about your struggles, stress and psyche. And he really does want to help- the fact that he gets ice cream out of this is just a bonus
From here on out he'll keep an eye out for you. Every time you find yourself getting overworked or burning out he'll make you take a break. This could be a nap or sending you home or a surprise outing- anything to get your mind off work and people.
Ranpo is a stickler for the rules, sure, but he's also lazy as shit. Any time he doesn't feel like working, you're now not allowed to work either. You have to hang out with him or else (he'll be a little sad)
He doesn't necessarily introduce any...permanent solutions to your predicament, but he does have you looking forward to your couples-down time each day, and that's something!
Over time, you do learn to balance yourself and external responsibilities. And he will absolutely be taking credit for it lmao
Jouno:
Jouno is very...self-important, we'll say. Not like, completely selfish or anything, but very much tends to prioritise his own opinions and time and such.
You make him do a complete reassessment and breakdown of all of his thoughts and beliefs he's built up over the course of his lifetime
/j but really, you're unbelievably different from him. You're both willing to put yourself in danger or wear yourselves down, but *you* don't have anatomical medical adjustments that practically make you invincible.
Jouno wants to protect you- and he's not willing to negotiate. He's not letting anyone hurt you, even if on accident. He's especially not willing to let anybody take advantage of your generous nature, which is probably more likely anyway.
He's such a scary dog actually (lol get it?? get it cause he's one of the Hunting Dogs? DO YOU GET IT-) he'll accompany you anywhere if you ask him to.
When he wants to do something for you, he will do it. You're not lifting a finger miss girl
Like he really will take care of you! When he's off work, of course. His job is kind of important, but you best believe you're getting pampered when Jouno is off the clock.
My mans is romantic as FUCK: cooking you nice dinners, reading to you before bed, massages, cuddles- as well as engaging in your interests alongside you of course
He just thinks it's so cute to see you engrossed in something that YOU enjoy, and will encourage your down time
Jouno is gonna make sure that you take care of yourself too, because when he's not around, who better to look after anybody than you? That's the most important thing to him.

That last ask got me wondering...can I request headcanons for how the Harbingers would react if their S/O gave them flowers? 👀💐
Hell yeah let’s go (slight angst on Signora’s)
Pierro: thanks you softly and sincerely. Those flowers will be put in the nicest spot in his office for everyone to see. I hc that he likes gardening, so he would try to plant them and regrow them if he can. He is not immune to old timey rizz
Capitano: Honestly he would not expect it at all. He isn’t really the type people are “soft” for, but by god he is soft for you. He’s on the move constantly, so he doesn’t really have a safe place to put them, but he’ll keep them safe as long as he can
Dottore: “Hm, fascinating” headass NRKHKEKG. He would press the flowers and dry them to keep them as bookmarks. He might also cast them in resin as paperweights. Living things don’t tend to stay living around him for long, but he’ll preserve them in his own way. He will also lecture you on their exact classification and how the flowers’ structures work, whether you want him to or not
Columbina: weaves the flowers into a flower crown and has you wear it. She would love to see them catch the eye of other people. She isn’t easily jealous, so she takes pride in people seeing that you’re hers. Shockingly sweet for someone who keeps her emotions close to her chest
Arlecchino: she also displays the flowers in her office. She’ll snap at anyone who so much as breathes on them. A recruit lost his fingers bc he dared to touch the flowers. Arle isn’t the romantic type, but she cherishes any gift you give her
Pulcinella: another old timer, also not immune to old timey rizz. He has a big ol nose for a reason, and he will use it. Those flowers will be well cared for, and he will be v happy that he got them
Scaramouche: He’s the tsundere of the bunch, so he won’t accept the flowers if they’re given to him around anyone else, but if you’re alone, he’d give a quiet, flustered “thank you.” Followed by some narcissism bc “of course this offering won’t suffice in the future, but this is fine for now.” Asshole (affectionate)
Sandrone: She also preserves the flowers, but she’ll find a way to turn them into machines… somehow. You are very, very lucky if she hasn’t turned you into a puppet as well. Still, she appreciates the gift, and she WILL murder anyone who touches the flowers (unless it’s you) without hesitation
Signora: Rostam used to give her flowers. It would take a lot of effort to get her to open up her heart again, but if you succeed, the relationship will always have a hint of sadness behind it. She cherishes every gift, bc it may just be your last. She will keep those flowers alive at all costs, bc she doesn’t want to lose anything that has to do with you
Pantalone: money is the most important thing to him (besides you, hopefully), but he loves gifts anyway. It strokes his ego, but it also comes from a place of love he isn’t used to receiving. He especially appreciates it if the flowers are hand-picked and not bought from a store. Time is money, and taking time out of your day to do smth so small for him is touching. He will spoil you after
Tartaglia: MAN. This man is cheesy. He is CORNY. He will write you a love poem in return, deadass. He will take you flower picking. He will serenade you. This man canonically does theater, you CANNOT tell me he wouldn’t be the corniest motherfucker in a relationship (I’m projecting onto him). He will wear the flowers in his hair until they shrivel and die, and then he’ll just ask you for more so he can wear them again. He’ll take them out on the job so they don’t get ruined (and also for his reputation), but away from prying eyes, those things will not leave his hair
Hope you like these! I’m thinking ab opening up an ask blog tbh, just to reduce clutter here. We’ll see if I get the motivation and time to run it!

some silly little thoughts i need to get out of my head before they consume me
|

V
-never gets caught pranking people because he’s convinced a detention is the worst punishment in the world (knows even one mistake would give his parents enough reason to disown him, too)
-smells like lavender (bc of the hc that he needs sleeping potions to be able to sleep and not have nightmares) and coffee and maybe flowers
-hates fire and will sit as far away from it as possible even if he’s shivering soooo badly (hc that he used to love sitting in the rain and swimming before the whole cave incident and he’d come into the common room soaking wet and shivering and still refuse to sit near the fire) (evan and dorcas mother-henning him bc they’re genuinely concerned with this habit)
-his day will go absolutely horrible if he doesn’t make his bed in the morning or his schedule gets interrupted (is he on the spectrum? probably)
-he and panda (all the skittles really)smoke all of the time, r does it because he has Anxiety and it calms his nerves
-was a big fan of Poe and Dickens and all kinda of muggle authors (he’d sneak out of Grimmauld when he was little and buy books from muggle shops. he just never got caught or told anyone, unlike Sirius who was very vocal about it) (he also borrowed some from Remus or Lily at times)
-also learned about love and marriage from watching his parents and for the longest time didn’t think love actually existed and that it was only a tale for children (like the tooth fairy or something) (forgot until editing this that Cupid exists, so he probably assumed it was a story like that with the love arrows)
-i don’t know many 70’s bands but he would have LOVED lana and conan, i’m convinced. (J would be such a swiftie tell me i’m wrong)
-doesn’t smile much but when he does it’s absolutely perfect (j absolutely melts when he sees it. R knows this and will absolutely use it to his advantage)
-doesn’t doodle but he writes poetry, often in the margins of book or on scraps of paper or whatever is closest to him. sometimes he’ll just lean over to james/panda/barty/whatever love interest you hc him with and scribble a little poem on their arm or hand just so he can get it out of him (see: Non-Stop from Hamilton)
-usually only wears black or green in public (but secretly loves when he and j are in private and he gets to wear all of j’s clothes, which are so loose and colorful and the complete opposite of the ones his parents allow him to be seen in)
-doesn’t dislike mcgonagall, but hates how pushy she can be about him joining ECs or whatnot (also hc that r, who’s favorite subject was potions and would even brew in his spare time, used to help make healing potions or sleeping droughts and whatnot for Pomfrey since she was always busy and never have time) (he would never admit it to anyone where he was going everyday when he was brewing them, though) (probably also how he realized Remus was a werewolf was because he was always around the infirmary helping out) (r would have been a healer in another life. one where he wasn’t expected to harm instead.)
-wouldn’t like most muggle sports (hates the rich people ones like golf or tennis but also hates how violent hockey or football could get) but he’d like ice/figure skating and ballet, and he would LOVE music (not so much listening to it, that’s j’s thing, but playing it. the piano or the violin, maybe. something delicate and pretty and requires precision)
-gay. the gayest little guy you’ve ever seen. (he and panda/dorcas tried hooking up just once while they were Realizing and it was so embarrassingly awful they both decided never to mention it again)(also Reg and barty/remus being fWb because….well, bc i said so)

what are your thoughts on the bit in the scene on the roof in america where williams doing his dramatic speech thing and is like 'everything makes me feel so fond the world is so beautiful isnt it' or whatever. not the obvious what it means for his character growth, but it also reminded me a bit of how I heard that in japanese media 'the moons very beautiful isnt it' is like an indirect love confession? not that im saying williams saying he's romantically in love with sherlock there or anything, but it does read to me as reminiscent of that sort of indirect way of expression, like it seems he is sort of expressing feelings towards sherlock as well as all the other stuff he's saying, but then im not familiar with japanese culture or fiction conventions so im not sure if thats how its meant to be read, or if its actually really obvious or im completely making it all up, so id be interested to hear your thoughts
Ah, "The moon is beautiful," is actually a reference to Japanese classic lit.
Basically, back in the Meiji era, there was a poem from English with the words "I love you" in it being translated, but that didn't hit the same way in Japanese as it does in English. So they changed it to something entirely indirect that would nevertheless be understood by the audience as actually expressing affection and appreciation for a partner rather than the moon, as actually recognizing that the moon being so beautiful was because of the partner, probably--I don't know the exact connotations, but it's an example of localization in translation, and it's a reference to something well known enough that it's basically a Code.
The reason it works so well in JR is because they actually start talking about Japanese lit and Seigi is like, "I am majoring in Econ, I do not read that," and Richard then quotes it, and Seigi catches the reference and Richard, honestly, probably wants to die, because Seigi responds with a similar coded translation: "I'm yours" to "I could die."
So we know they're quoting something, and they use it exactly.
(As an aside, they're literally giving each other love confessions hidden in classic literature coding, and people want to tell me it's not queer. Please go jump in a lake.)
As far as I'm aware, William isn't quoting anything like that and thus isn't a code with other meanings. William is a character written by a Japanese author for a Japanese audience, so the narrative and his actions and thoughts are colored by Japanese culture. But mostly when he quotes stuff, it's British.
So I think he's really mostly just saying what he means for once: the world looks different now that someone has seen him and validated him and chosen and supported him and he finally feels like a part of the world.
William's confessions have always been quite straightforward, when it comes down to it. He lies and obfuscates and evades a lot, but when he says something to someone he cares about, he means it very earnestly.

Hi 💐 I adore your poetry and I had a question. How would you suggest to improve poetry? I write and I've posted here as well but never received any proper feedback which I can use. Tips?
hello!!! this is so sweet, thank u for the support and i'm so honored u'd want my advice.
first of all, im gonna say poetry is a very individual thing, and what works for one person doesn't work for others. also, if u'd like me to critique specific works, i could probably be more thorough and i am so happy to do so, but that's obviously entitely up to u.
that being said, here's some things i've learned.
1. don't write what you think people will like, write what works in ur brain. this doesn't mean it has to be smth u have directly experienced, but more so an emphasis on having smth that matters to u more than smth u think others will care abt. i've found that my poems that have received the most love are the ones i thought "this is so niche and specific, i have no idea if anyone will relate to this or like this at all." as cheesy as it sounds, being honest in whatever way that works for u rlly is best
2. this is actually a rule i believe i heard abt comedy, but i find it rings very true of poetry as well: combine the specific w the broad. there are certain points of humanity i think are shown pretty much across the board. finding the very exact and nitty gritty feelings and thoughts and expressing that is usually what makes a great poem. to give an example, all of us are lonely sometimes. what makes writing abt it interesting could be writing smth like feeling lonely when u go to the grocery store, wishing u had someone to grab something from the top shelf for u and hold ur hand in the dairy aisle.
3. this is more personal preference, but i like the opening and closing lines to kinda form a circle. i don't know how to explain this exactly, but i like it all kinda come back to this point, not necessarily in words but more so in theme. i especially like when something's changed, and the same idea now has new nuance. a good example of this from my works would be in the world is ending. i began with the sentiment "there's nothing i can do about it" and ended with "it will be enough" both involve a lack of control, but where it began with helplessness, it ended with acceptance.
4. experiment!! try so many cool things!!! change up spacing and structures! try new words and phrases! use repitition! use long lines, use short phrases! the best way to find your specific writing niche is through trial and error.
5. similarly, in terms of gaining skill in writing poetry, quantity over quality. the best way to write a poem u love is to write a hundred u think are garbage. eventually u learn what works for u, but more than that, practice really does make perfect. or at least better. i started off writing the cringiest, most angsty and awful poems u can imagine. since u already have been writing and posting, u've already started this. but don't let urself get so frustrated u stop writing. writing is so beautiful and healing and wonderful. if u love it, keep it in ur heart forever and don't let it go.
this has already been so long so i think im gonna stop there. i hope this was helpful, i am by no means an expert and i am sure none of this is new advice. i bet ur writing is rlly cool!! and regardless, we all have smth worth saying, and im proud of u for saying it.
be warm and well fed

Movie!Adrien HC: Writer as a career
I've been going back and forth in trying to think on what kind of career Adrien would want, especially that would nurture his Destruction. Recently, I've also added football striker and writer to the list of possibilities and while I'd want to see him be a part of the football team, I think a writer and linguist would suit him quite well
The first time we saw Adrien in the movie, he was in the library. I've always thought that he's a bibliophile in the movie because of that. Which is why I went 'huh, there's a thought' yknow?
Anyways, he'd be a versatile writer, writing whatever he wants in whatever form he wants it to be. Whether its short stories, entries, poems, lyrics, scripts or even full length novels, he writes them.
His words are rich and empathic. His style tears down prejudices and tropes. It always makes people think and forces them out of their comfort zones. He especially enjoys writing about themes that destroy presumptions and prejudices. It changes how people think, and he's not shy to confront harmful issues in his writings
Adrien's got zero tolerance for bullshit and refuses to write things that cater to the masses' harmful whims. In fact, he takes unholy glee in destroying themes and tropes that would romanticize or normalised harmful beliefs and actions even if it caused a number of outcries or controversies
(Not a lot of people knows this, but Adrien has a sadistic streak when it comes to destroying bigoted readers or critics. Or just bullshit in general)
When Nino achieved his dream in being a movie director, Adrien tends to be his first choice as the main scriptwriter. Now you can imagine the chaos these 2 best friends unleashes whenever a new movie comes out. While Nino would puff out his chest, proud for another job well done, Adrien would always have the biggest shit-eating Cheshire grin
As he grows as a writer, it becomes apparent that while its normal for writers to world build, Adrien does the exact opposite. He destroys worlds and structures, reshaping it into however he wants it. His writing style especially when it comes his novels is similar to Alice in Wonderland.
A nonsensical writing style to be more specific
For the most part, his books are written in simple language that most readers can understand. Most sentences are relatively short and straightforward. However, despite the use of simple syntax and short sentences, the style of his books is cheeky, charming and full of mischief. Plays on words, puns (so much PUNS), homophone confusion, and metaphors has since become Adrien's signature style.
The chapters for any of his books are all over the place and yet, there's always a level of intuitive logic to his insanity. Readers can randomly open any chapter within his books and would always be surprised on how they can still follow the story despite Adrien destroying worlds and any semblance of structure within it
His loved ones, especially Marinette, always end up getting immersed in Adrien's destructive, nonsensical writing which Adrien never passes up to tease her about
That's not to say that's the only way he writes. His works are always charming and heartfelt, earnest with every written word.
Adrien writes letters to his parents, burns them for Emelie in hopes that she'd received them. He collaborates writing scripts with Nino for his movies and becomes a trusted editor for Alya whenever they fact check an article together
and of course, he writes the sweetest, dorkiest things for Marinette. from sticky notes full of puns and compliments to romantic poems and lyrics (see 'My Lady' and 'Stronger Together'), you name it, he's done it for his beloved
So yeah, I think being a writer is something Adrien would really enjoy

Collision, Family, Volcano, Crown, Ruler and Fire for Izzy! (Her character has such a cool concept yet there is so little about her character in this fandom i need more of her,,,,)
Hey!! Thank you for asking! And also your ask made me want to finally do another quick doodle of her x)
Tumblr media
Baby boy. Baby. vs Evil
(Asks from this ( x ) meme)
💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with? 🌋 VOLCANO - how bad is their temper? is it a slow boil, or a instant explosion?
I am combining these questions because the answers to both are quite connected, hope this is okay!
Izzy will go feral, figurally and literally, when someone either threatens people she is willing to protect or knows which regrets of hers to turn outside. Although she thinks reasonably and tries her best to have a grasp on her impulses and "be an animal responsibly!", she unfortunately is vulnerable to provocation. You know that one smug asshole that simply knows all of your insecurities and will lead you in public (friends or families) so they could humiliate you or dig through your dirt? ...no? Well, it is the worst kind of parental/authority figure, and Izzy is likely to see red and even physically attack a person like this. If she is around someone who knows how to get under her skin, she needs a more collected friend to ground her and remind her this is not worth her passion and anger.
Conclusion: slow boil, unless you pull the right strings! He can pile up grudges and anger- heck, it took a while for Izzy to "explode" at Ludwig with telling him in exact detail how much of a dumbass he was fhfhdsfd Yet on the other hand, Ashton (a crucial OC for the story) infuriated Izzy upon like, second significant interaction!
👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?
I envisioned her as the only child and someone growing without mom, raised just by father who was also quite harsh on her. A hell lot of emotional problems that never got resolved, just piling up over the years. She never tried to earn her dad's approval, nor strongly rebelled against him, but simply tried to coexist with little to no trust to the irrational fool that never knew what did he want.
The father had plenty of siblings on the other hand, so Izzy got to see various uncles, aunts and cousins often! With most of them Izzy was friendly and they felt more like a family than his dad, but still it was a little soured since for them her dad was the best person even with no flaw whatsoever and in her kid and teens she lacked the nerve to ruin the good picture. Izzy stopped writing any letters to her father or cousins from Yharnam in the end. There were just too many absolutely batshit things happening that letters would not cover, but he didn't want to bother with 'fake' and shallow letters either.
👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?
Izzy simply wanted to have his place amongst other significant people in Yharnam, whether it'd be as a great hunter or as a significant researcher! In a way, this wish came true.. you know, discovering a whole new philosophy in all that... mess of Kin, Beasts and humans, that STILL (!!!) has people like Josef diving into Loran dungeons to get at least close to the revelation about beasthood Izzy found? Izzy died as a monster, not knowing her legacy would live on beyond cursing Yamamura's homeland with beasthood, but she'd be very content to know she left the potential of "better humankind" open :')
📏 RULER - is your oc well educated? where did they get their learning from?
Izzy is actually well-versed in subjects like math, history, chemistry and biology! She knows a lot of literature and art too, it is just not a forefront and only brought up accidentally, when she tries to recite a poem that no one recognises. Doesn't help that her manner of talking is really "simple" for the lack of better term, and her education is only obvious when she IS discussing the topic! I always joke that she is a jock+nerd hybrid xD
She went the self-taught road as soon as she gained enough maturity to understand the teachers at the school tended to abuse their authority and the educational system itself was sketchy and with propaganda of certain ideas baked in it! If they wanted to overreact at her reasonable curiosity, then whatever! Calling them out on their bullshit and doing her own thing at the library it is, then! Because of how she studied everything "unofficially" she never had any certificate for her rich knowledge. But out of all Hunters visiting Byrgenwerth, only Izzy took a whole room to conduct researches, not to mention giving good lectures..... until Willem finally walked in and shooed her with a broom fdhfdjdsd
🔥 FIRE - do they have any self destructive tendencies? what habits do they have that hinder them from becoming their best self?
If you count self-inflicted beastly evolution and accelerating Vermin she got inside herself to properly become a part of her blood as self-destruction, then I guess so xD But in her defence, her choice of path to evolution preserved the humanity in its true nature the best!! Filth of humanity is not something to "cleanse" but something to cherish and protect from Great Ones who abuse it!
I'd say a flaw that guarantees his "failures" is inability to control the way arrogance grows as soon as his ideological enemies are marked. Izzy gets commentaries on being too stubborn from friends often, even when he is objectively right! She is actually quite similar to Laurence with the whole "I know what's best for humanity!".. Izzy is actually a strong competition to Mico in terms of being Laurence's rival: they both have these grand plans, whereas Micolash largerly doesn't care about humanity and sees most as cattle. But God FORBID you TELL Izzy this fhdhfdshds
Also:
Tumblr media
I want to present.. the sequel
Izzy: Unlike you fanatics I am able to listen to the ideas that contradict mine without losing my shit uwu
Caryll: Embracing beasthood is not the rebellion against the vicious cycle of Moon Presence that you think it is but a truthful part of her plan same as Star Kin that receive redemption from her, the only way to win is to not play.
Izzy:

Ok ok I am done now fhhdshfdhf Thank you for the ask again!!

what it’s like majoring in creative writing
considering majoring in creative writing ? let me tell you about it to help you make a decision :)
hello ! i am a current creative writing major (sophomore, going to be a junior next semester) and am going to share a bit of what it’s like, in case you are considering majoring in it, as well !
disclaimer: programs may (and probably do) vary from school to school, so my experience is not going to be one size fits all. but, i think that it could give you a general idea of what to expect.
firstly, get ready to read and write. a lot. i’m not kidding. my school requires all creative writing (henceforth referred to as cw) majors to minor in literature, which i personally was already planning on doing. on top of reading for lit classes, your writing classes will also most likely require reading. in my workshop classes, i was often tasked with reading poems and short stories by both other students and established authors. (pro tip: add the short stories on goodreads, it’ll help you reach your goal real fast). you will also be doing a lot of writing. in my intro to cw course, i wrote four poems, a piece of flash fiction, and a short story. i also had to revise them for the final portfolio. in my intermediate fiction workshop, i wrote two short stories and a craft analysis essay, which i revised for the final portfolio. i also had to annotate and give notes on others’ stories. currently, i’m in a craft class where i have to write three short stories and a craft analysis essay, and an intermediate poetry class where i’ve had to write three poems every week (revise five of them from the first half of the semester and then another five for the last half, then create a final portfolio where you once again revise those previously revised poems). for lit classes, you will also have to write essays. if you’re an english major in general, you will be writing so. many. essays.
next up, you have to be able to take criticism. you will most likely be involved in a lot of workshops, meaning you will share your work with others, who will in turn give you commentary and criticism on it. you will do the same for others. sharing work can be vulnerable and scary, but it is extremely helpful, and you will benefit a lot from it ! everyone i’ve workshopped with so far has been very nice, so i wouldn’t worry too much about anyone being mean. remember, everyone else is just as nervous as you ! and also remember not to compare yourself to others ! it’s very hard, trust me, i really struggled with it last semester, but you have to learn to be confident in your skills ! workshops will either boost or tank that confidence lmao. but it all will serve to make you a better writer !
my university requires that all cw majors write a thesis in their last two semesters, which could be a poetry collection, short story collection, or a novel. in addition, you will also have to do a reading of some of your work. once again, this may not be the standard for all schools, but i feel like it’s important information.
my school also has a literary magazine that they publish at the end of the fall semester. it’s open to all undergrad english and cw students at my school, as well as artists. on my campus it’s also run by cw majors, and it’s required that you work on it during one of your fall semesters in order to graduate. i am actually getting my first ever publication next month through it ! i don’t know if every university does this the exact same way, but lots of them have their own literary magazines. these are a fantastic way to get published. if your university doesn’t have one, there are still plenty of undergrad lit mags, so i encourage you to research them !
the last major thing i can think of is community. my campus has a great community for writers. my university is fairly small, so you tend to end up in classes with a lot of the same people. you kind of just end up becoming at least surface-level friends with a lot of people simply from being in so many classes together :) my campus also has a creative writing club and an english honors society, both of which i’m a part of, and those have been great for making other writer friends ! writing can be very lonely, so having a community can be very encouraging ! it also helps to have ppl keep you accountable haha
^^ the aforementioned cw club also does readings twice a semester, which are volunteer based, but are good for getting in practice ! (and just for sharing your work in general)
that’s all i can think of at this moment, and i hope it was helpful ! feel free to ask any questions !!

hear me out ok? ok.
so. much ado about nothing. shakespeare wrote it. and it doesn’t focus only the enemies/rivals to lovers plotline but anyways let me explain and give a brief summary of said enemies to lovers plotline because i am obsessed with it
So in the play there’s this dude named Benedick and this gal named Beatrice and they LOATHE eachother. They constantly banter and fire witty comments at eachother, and they both despise the idea of getting married (in general.)
so, their friends and family hatch a little plan.
and this is where. the fun begins.
So, Benedick’s just hanging around in the garden, y’know, when his pals come around the corner, talking amongst eachother. Now, since this is a Shakespeare play, Benedick hides behind some bushes and starts eavesdropping on them. Little does he know that this is part of their plan.
As Don Pedro says in the play, “I will in the interim undertake one of Hercules' labors, which is, to bring Signior Benedick and the Lady Beatrice into a mountain of affection, the one with the other. I would fain have it a match, and I doubt not but to fashion it, if you three will but minister such assistance as I shall give you direction.”
in leyman’s terms, “help me make these two idiots fall in love.”
So while Benedick is eavesdropping, Don Pedro, Leonato, and Claudio begin talking about how utterly down bad Beatrice is for him, saying she was nearly sick for him, and he falls for the trap, believing everything he just overheard was true, and is like “i mean if she loves me… i wouldnt mind getting married to her”
And so Beatrice’s cousin, Hero, and their friends do the same thing. They make sure Beatrice is listening in, and start talking about how Benedick is madly in love with her, and it warrants the same exact reaction— Beatrice is ALSO being all “i mean i wouldnt mind getting married to benedick if he really does love me”
At the end of the play, Benedick confronts Beatrice, asking if she loves him. Beatrice denies it, and so Benedicks all like “well that’s weird because i’m pretty sure claudio, don pedro and leonato said you did.” Then Beatrice asks the same question to Benedick, and he also denies it, and so she ALSO goes “Well so-and-so said otherwise.”
And they’re both being all stubborn about it until Claudio comes in saying “Oh really Benedick? You don’t love her? Then what’s this little poem you wrote for her?”
And then Hero’s all like “And here’s another poem, written by Beatrice for Benedick”
So Beatrice and Benedick are both like “well shit i guess i cant really hide my feelings anymore” and they kiss and get married
so anyways, what if beatrice and benedick but as ishdon—

What are your thoughts on Eponine? (I haven’t read the novel, I have only watched the Liam Neeson movie (which didn’t have Eponine) and a recording of the musical).
Thank you for the ask I love getting Les Mis asks 💖
So keep in mind that I have read this book 13 years ago so I don't remember a lot of details. I remember the core idea of her character though and she was one of the most badass characters in the book, I loved her.
So Hugo initially had another named planned for her but changed it after Baudelaire dedicated a poem to him (Les petites vieilles from Les Fleurs du mal) that goes like this:
These dislocated wrecks were women once,
Were Eponine or Lais! hunchbacked freaks,
Though broken let us love them! they are souls.
And that is a very good introduction to her character.
Her first trait that needs to be mentioned is hunger. Eponine was a hungry, very hungry young teen, starved, to be more exact, she had a horrendous appearance, some teeth missing, she was extremely dirty, her clothes had huge wholes, she walked barefoot I think. Hunger was so absolute and omnipotent in Eponine, as in a lot of characters from the book, that it seemed to completely erase any hint of personality, or agency, or personhood really. She seemed to not even be a human being at all, she was just a starved girl who resembled a starved animal more than a person. And that's the thing with hunger, it's so catastrophic and definite that it completely annihilates a person. You can't have free will, you can't have spiritual autonomy, you're just that, hungry. Hunger in Les Mis is the ultimate and most substantial form of violence, and Eponine embodies that.
"The grace of her youth was struggling against the hideous old age brought on by debauchery and poverty".
What hunger also does is it gives birth to the lowest, most debased, most inhuman form of monster. That's Eponine's parents, les Thenardiers, and I honestly cannot recall a single literary character that is more appalling than them. They were appalling people before they became so poor, but poverty turned them into actual vultures. So in this "cocktail Molotov" of moral depravity plus extreme poverty and hunger, what chance does Eponine have of becoming something more than a vulture herself? A vulture, or a living, lifeless, soulless corpse, like her sister.
Yet that's not Eponine's arc. Eponine starts as a bully to Cosette while she was a kid, then becomes this hungry street smart kid, then an accomplice in a gang of criminals (burglars, thieves etc) then she goes to prison for a short time. She is in love with Marius, and so she's torn between her jealousy and the desire to make him happy, that is why she helps Marius find Cosette's house and leads him there, then she observes them every night they meet in the garden. She even prevents her gang from entering Cosette's house, because she knows that Marius would be destroyed if anything happened to Cosette. That's the part of the book where she stops them :
"Please yourself, you won't get in. I can't be the daughter of a dog seeing as I am the daughter of a wolf! There are six of you. What's that to me? You're men. Well, I'm a woman. You don't frighten me, that's for sure. I'm telling you, you won't get inside this house because I don't want you to. If you come any nearer I'll bark. I told you, I'm the 'cab'. I couldn't care less about you. Now be on your way, I've had enough of you! Go anywhere you like, but don't come here, I won't let you! You use your knives, I'll use my feet, it's all the same to me. So come on, then!"
And then, after this very selfless act, she actively manages to separate Cosette and Marius. She scares Valjean so he decides to move, and takes Cosette's letter for Marius with no intention of giving it to him, then leads Marius to the barricades so that they can die together there. And then, she dies for him after giving him Cosette's letter :
“She let her head fall back upon Marius' knees and her eyelids closed. He thought that poor soul had gone. Eponine lay motionless; but just when Marius supposed her for ever asleep, she slowly opened her eyes in which the gloomy deepness of death appeared, and said to him with an accent the sweetness on which already seemed to come from another world:
"And then, do you know, Monsieur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you."
She essayed to smile again and expired.”
So Eponine was a morally ambiguous person but an exceptional character, moving from debauchery, spite and depravity to bravery and love. She doesn't believe in the Cause, but she loves Marius and she dies for him in the barricades, thus her death is as honorable as any other person that gave their lifes in the barriades. I think Eponine's function in the narrative is to show that it is in fact, possible, for an exceptional character to be born out of total material, moral and spiritual decay. It is possible for a human being to preserve the quality of a person, even an exceptional person, and rise above theIr horrendous circomstances. She's a tragic character but the underlying message is ultimately optimistic, in a way.
Of course she was not presented accurately in the musical, she was sexualised in a way that the supposed "conflict" between her and Cosette looks like the conflict of a the popular high school girl vs the high school underdog which is SO not the case in the book.

Ten Books To Know Me
Rules: 10 (non-ancient) books for people to get to know you better, or that you just really like.
Tagged by @landwriter, whose list I am pillaging for reading tips. In no particular order:
Paladin of Souls - Lois Bujold. Cordelia Naismith is still my favourite of her characters, but the World of the Five Gods series is so kind. Bujold does religion better than anyone, and in a deeply humanist way. The exact inverse experience of reading Maria Russell’s The Sparrow, though both are phenomenal.
Labyrinths - Jorge Luis Borges. The short story collection version of someone leaning in and going “would you like to hear a fucked up thought about set theory? No? Time?”
Watership Down - Richard Adams.
I was (understandably, I think) leery of books with rabbits after my Mom insisted that the first time I’d broken down sobbing over The Velveteen Rabbit was a fluke, and I’d misunderstood the point of the book, and then tried reading it to me another two times. I cried every time. HER point is that the bunny became real at the end, so it’s a happy book. MY point is that to the boy, the bunny was real the whole time, and that from his point of view it was essentially one of those horribly moralising 19th century fairy tales where the main character’s best friend dies horribly half way through but they go to Heaven so you’re expected to be happy about it. Except in this case, they’re burned alive. Watership Down was the runner-up for most traumatic childhood book about bunnies, but it made no bones about what it was. It knew when it was being brutal, and did it on purpose and well, and I love it still. It also was one of several deeply formative books for introducing me to my favourite trope: stories-in-stories.
The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien. Yes, I know, everyone’s favourite, etc etc. Still, I read it young enough to sort of grow up along it as a trellis. I can’t put any of my favourite medieval works on this list per the rules, but Tolkien’s the reason I could read them as an adult and go oh, but you’re familiar. Also, the older I get, the more the whole ‘no kindness is ever wasted’ element makes me verklempt.
Jackalope Wives - T. Kingfisher. I know, it’s not a book, but you’ll forgive me for that once you’ve read it, for free, right here: https://apex-magazine.com/short-fiction/jackalope-wives/
How good was that? Right?
Gaudy Night - Dorothy L. Sayers. I’ve never related to anything or anyone more than Harriet Vane as I read this, belly down on the grass in the Oxford botanical gardens this summer, in the middle of having a Bad Fucking Time romantically. Sayers’ characters are complicated and human, a little too smart for their own good sometimes, and prone to self-sabotage and overthinking. This book is so profoundly good at capturing the absurdities of love, and the negotiations of self that requires, while still being very tender about the whole thing.
American Gods - Neil Gaiman. I’ve never been in the US for longer than three months at a stretch since I was three, and growing up, it was largely mythological to me. America was Where Stories Happen. I read Stardust first, and possibly like Good Omens best of Gaiman’s, but American Gods put words to a lot of the experience of looking at the US from a one-foot-in-the-door-one-foot-out perspective.
Caedmon - Denise Levertov. Once again cheating, this time it’s a poem:
http://www.southernhumanitiesreview.com/denise-levertov-caedmon.html
I’m also a tremendously basic poetry person in terms of liking Donne, Blake and Eliot. Mmm, weird feelings about God and/or WWI.
The Lacuna - Barbara Kingsolver. Possibly my favourite ending in anything I’ve read ever? I can’t say anything concrete without spoiling it, but the book starts out big, and then, at the end, gets narrower, and narrower down to a fine point, and - look, it’s very good. It has opinions about how we tell stories. The Bean Trees is also very good, though it’s been near a decade since I read that one, and I remember it less.
Frankenstein - Mary Shelley. Look, it has stories within stories, and a big, gothic, sweep of thought and emotion. It feels big, and deep, and bigger and deeper every time I go back.
Special mention because almost everyone who follows me is into Sandman: Doomsday Book - Connie Willis.
Would you like to CRY about the middle ages, and how people were people always and how no kindness is wasted? I bet you would. Maybe only read this if you’re feeling stable about pandemics again, though. I’m giving it another few months personally before going back.
-
I am, as usual, a tiny bit late to the tagging game and have lost track of who’s already been tagged. HOWEVER, I have a bunch of lovely amazing mutuals and new followers and if you want, please consider yourself tagged (that way I can also see who’s interested in maybe being tagged in the future, and get to know you better?)

Poetry ask meme: 1, 2a, 9
1. Your favorite poet of all time
robert frost. I guess my new englander is showing but he really does just put out banger after banger
2a. Your favorite form
ooh this is a good question, and I have a hard time picking just one, but I guess by way of example (and to further dig my heels into my answer to 1.) I'll talk about a few frost poems I really like that share a particularly interesting rhyme (and sometime metrical) structure: after apple picking, storm fear, october and mowing
the rhyme scheme first: I'd say that all of these poems have "the same" rhyme scheme, which is to say, they all lack a rhyme scheme, except that all the lines rhyme
in each poem, every line rhymes with a least one other rhyme, usually nearby, but occasionally across quite a long distance. for example: in after apple picking, most of the rhymes within one, two or three lines—all fairly typical distances for rhymes in many poetic forms, except for a single rhyme, "heap" and the final "sleep," which spans seven lines
speaking of typical poetic forms, all of these poems also seem to hint at typical rhyme structures as well, without commiting to any pattern for the whole poem. october starts with a quatrain in ABAB and ends in a quatrain in BCCB; after apple picking contains quite a few couplets
so the takeaway here is that there clearly is structure to the rhymes in these poems—every line rhymes with some other line!—but it's not a strict form; there are patterns but no single pattern; things that hint at an structure but evade total order
the meters of these four poems are less directly analogous: after apple picking uses strictly (or nearly-strictly) iambic lines of variable length; storm fear is similar but less permits more variation in the feet themselves; october is almost perfect iambic tetrameter everywhere except for lines 4 and 17, which are dramatically clipped; and mowing is...arguably pentameter, but with some very extreme variation in the metric feet used in each line
so while the meters themselves are fairly distinct from each other, I do think they all share the property I called out when talking about the rhyme scheme: there is a form, but it's not treated strictly. it's hard to say exactly what defines the structure of each poem but at the same time they are not totally structureless
and I think even beyond poetry, there is something deep about my aesthetic taste here. I don't actually spend much time listening to pure noise music but I love love love noise-inflected music, music that includes distorted and noisy elements. magical realism is fun because there's a logic of sorts but it cannot be expressed formally. structures that are set up but not totally followed through on, art that feels "off" or "wrong" because it doesn't quite adhere perfectly to the form it purports to be executing
this is a tension that I find strikes at some nerve deep within me
9. Best century (overall) for poetry
sigh I am once again digging my heels in even deeper and saying 20th
I think that the 20th century does an extremely good job of capturing the tension I spent most of my answer to 2a. gushing about; it's an era when poets were growing restless with the traditional forms they had been using, but hadn't yet completely discarded the notion of poetic structure at all (as I feel that many contemporary poets seem to have)
but moreover, and slightly more of an expression of my own limitations: I find that when I play with a poem, I spend a lot of time considering the exact language used, how it feels to say as something coming from myself, an american in the second millenium. what feels natural? what feels affected or performed? and what are the effects of those constructions?
this is a lot harder to do with more unfamiliar language. when shakespeare uses a syntax that I wouldn't, is it a poetic license he's taking, or would it have sounded natural to the audiences at the time? what are the aesthetic consequences of the changes in pronunciation in the last half-century? how should I read poems from ireland or wales, with potentially comparably large dialectical differences?
it's actually somewhat baffling to me that these are question that many poetic analyses seem to just completely ignore, as to my ears they are absolutely central concerns to the appreciation of poetry! any poem I read earlier than the 20th century, or outside of new england, is a poem I am effectively reading in translation, and it boggles me that this is so little discussed in detail by people I would otherwise take to be deeply interested in the art
and it's something which continues to be a barrier to my appreciation of early english poetry

So this is a reblog talk but without the reblog.
I want to talk about these pieces I did for a ask.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
_First and foremost I love my art of Eclipse/Blue Moon in a hammock staring at the stars. The proportions were hard to do. Especially with the hammock but it worked out. The stars in the sky were actually just a rush that was in the library. I just created a space-like background and draged that said brush around. Although without dark it is it's not until now that I realize how hard is to read his words. But it says
"hoping from place to place. Never time for work, play, or sorrow but when the world fades and silence fills it's shadow. That always stays the same."
I will admit Eclipse/blue moon is supposed to talk like blood moon but due to my inability to write that sort of stuff It turns into the haiku's and poems that I am more used to writing. Which in a strange way mixes well with the whole lunar + blood moon.
The words vaguely translate to- due to being a sporadic dimensional traveler he doesn't really get too enjoy things for long. But the silence of night time is always the same in every dimension. It's the one thing he gets to enjoy daily.
_Second. For sun's image I gives all creedence to my brother. The pose is an exact copy of what my brother does with his cat. He Even posed for me as I drew. Meaning that despite the complicated look of the hands and arms it was actually quite easy to draw. Unfortunately the pillows in the room were an afterthought. But they surprisingly blended in well. Frankie also just kept his coloring from the first illustration I did with these guys. Despite the fact that he is supposed to be a tortoiseshell I decided "whatever he's going to be a brown cat it makes it simpler to draw."
Sun states that he doesn't have time to enjoy things. At the end of the post though eclipse/blue moon gives a more concrete answer. Of course the eclipse/ Blue Moon is talking in rhyme/poem talk but it's clear that sun likes to paint. Although the way eclipse/blue moon says it, it's supposed to sound like he's only ever seen Sun paint once or twice. Which as sad as it is, gives Credence to suns own answer.
_Third. Moose panel and words was rather simple. In my AU I lean more into his engineering personality. And moons answer is rather straightforward. He enjoys tinkering, he hates computer work. Moon is technically working on a firework launcher. I was running off of memory but I'm pretty sure it looks close to what was used by Monty.
Moon's pose was rather simple for me although hard in other ways. I have experience with working with tools but I was running off of my own hands. And while I knew the poses the hands need be in in was hard to do so without a reference. I knew exactly how the hand should be shaped but not how it interacted with the object. Eventually I just asked my mom to take a picture of my hand in the poses required.

A Poem about Bones and Other Things Also
Sometimes I worry that I have no bones
Not that I really have no bones, but to be reborn is to be born in water and in spirit. Does that include my bones?
The spirit is something to embody and not so much innate. It is innate, though, it is, you just have to notice it sometimes. That is the essential thing about it.
If I had no bones it would be all anyone could notice. This is true, I would be a mound of skin and muscle and meat. Im a vegetarian. My body reborn is not detached from my spirit, actually the exact opposite is true.
I think about myself too much. Why should anyone care if my body was boneless, thats how we order our wings isn’t it! But I don’t eat those, remember?
My spirit is the land, my vessel, and the things it leaves on it.
The cosmos are the sea and the sea is in me. We are all 75% water after all. What percentage of that makes up my bones?
I know that the sky is the ocean because I can see the same stars in the water.
I know, I know, how can a person without bones, a body without structural integrity, be telling you anything you don’t already know.
Well here’s this, when I lay in the ocean, at night or in the day, am I not cradled by the twinkle of the skys reflective stars and glitter?
Even without my bones, my body is held tenderly as if it has no slippery, globular quality at all.
That is in the ocean, in the cosmos.
If you still don’t get why I’m so worried about my bones I understand. I just think maybe there’s an essential quality that I’ve missed out on. Not sadly, but peculiarly.
But listen, maybe it’s the bonelessness that helps to understand the difference between us two. Because we are the same, and it’s hard to notice when we’re not if you saw me with my bones.
You have to stop searching for your reflection in the water, it always ripples.
I thought you were there inside me too, once, it was only a couple of bones, maybe only teeth.
Maybe you don’t miss your bones but you gave yours to me. Or someone. And they crack and pop and rub up against mine inside my made of meat body. If you gave them to me. It could be any thing, really, if you wanted that.
I don’t mind, it is all that we are.
The cosmos sees our bonelessness, those things that we see less clearly are in focus as long as we notice the spirit on this land. That is the essential thing about it.
“The creators spirit flows through this land;”
Denendeh.
This is what I repeat as my form floats on in the galaxy.
