I almost completely forgot to do one of these this year. Not too much shuffling of pictures surprisingly between months either. Just two August pieces got stretched to September too.

Can you tell I slowed down at the end of the year? I felt like I drew very little for fun this year compared to previous (partially because I started writing a lot suddenly again, and also because of the pandemic), hence why I included some of the drawing I did for work. One funny coincidence I noticed is that for the past three years I've drawn something related to my Cleo Arrow story every January. It's probably some piece of me wanting to continue the story and the start of the new year fuels that urge. Here's hoping I can carry it further in 2021.

I'm happy to see myself using more saturated colors again! (Even if my color pallets still lean toward purple. What can I say? It's not hard to figure out my favorite color.) I tried a few new techniques like shading and different inking (aka coloring my sketches instead of inking.) I also see myself unafraid to make full body pieces. I think one of the biggest accomplishments this year is I finally figured out how to draw fire. I also pushed myself to include more movement into certain pieces. I'm still working on it.

I did a piece for 2021 already that I think is going to push me a certain direction with how I improve next year. Line weight variability and coloring those lines with colors aside from just one color, as in not just all black or all red, but perhaps fading between black and red. I may decide in the long run that it's too much work or I don't like the look, but for now, I'm pretty pleased with first piece I did for 2021.
