Matt's faith in the show is really important and well explored; one of the first scenes of the show is Matt going to confession (or, well, talking to his priest since he's not really confessing at that point). Matt struggles a lot with what he's supposed to do; everyone's telling him to kill the villain and he kinda wants to, but he literally says: "I know my soul is damned if I take his life". He struggles with his faith and goes with his doubts to his priest, and it's beautiful—also when he finally gets a costume for his vigilanteing he chooses to dress as the devil, lol. (His priest tells him that nothing makes people run to Church faster than the feeling of having the devil on their heels.)

honestly i dont wanna type too much but i feel that matt is a great example of someone who battles with his faith because he rarely loses his faith but rather fights with why he was made the way he was and put through what he was. He believes himself to have the devil inside him but believes that God put him there

ok in the comics barring the most current run matt has Mostly been a non-practicing Catholic that very rarely actually does any catholic Activities but ends up falling back into the Mindset and very occasionally dramatically taking confession (ex. in that one issue where he takes confession, basically tells the father that he is uniquely terrible and is thinking about violently murdering someone and when the father says "you can be forgiven" hes like "AUGFH-- NO!!!!!!!!!!" and runs out) when he's gone through some shit. and i love that its so relatable

This guy so catholic he spends an ungodly amount of time just chilling in the church. And goes there whenever there is a moral conundrum about killing people being Bad even though it would solve a lot of problems and stop said people from killing other people. This happens every other episode. Matt is the Catholic Guilt Guy. There's actually a lot of catholic stuff in the show as a whole. Just a compilation would be like three whole episodes long.

Hes great hes catholic enough to not outrught murder people but not catholic enough to not fuck before marriage hes a bisexual disaster at all times hes besties with a priest might i add hes great hes my special little guy

his catholicism is a huge piece of his characterisation he was raised by nuns in a catholic orphanage, the first scene we ever see him (as an adult and not a flashback) is him going to confession, he is good friend with his priest and has regular debates with him, etc also in s3 he has a huge crisis of faith after he lost A Lot where he stops believing for a while and it's linked to his identity crisis where he actually wants to kill another person (a hard line he previously chose never to cross) and wants to be only daredevil and not matt murdock, when he is both and needs both to exist also when he was a kid his grandmother used to say "watch out for the murdock boys, they've got the devil in them" and it created a surprising lot of his issues

So he's both catholic in the comics and the show but he's More Catholic in the show. Like, raised in a catholic orphanage by nuns (ONE OF WHICH IS HIS *MOTHER*), second scene in the show has him in a confession box kind. Matt Murdock goes out and gets the shit beaten out of him nightly and also beats the shit out of other people and purposefully leaned into devil iconography as his theme. When his nurse friend says, he takes a lot of punishment without one complaint he says "That part's the Catholicism." It is a Core Aspect of his character (at least in the show). He makes me insane. Also the same chemicals that blinded him created the teenage mutant ninja turtles and everyone should know that.

They went to confession to a priest who they had saved as their costumed counterpart and the guy recognized them by the voice, proving that it's possible and everyone else is just dumb

he takes "i wanna fight god" to new and incredibly violent levels, while also being a sweetheart and a goofball

Actually strictly WILL NOT kill criminals. Goes wayyy out of his way to avoid it. Fights with the Punisher about it. Goes to confession booth after nightly vigilante excursions. Feels so much guilt. "How have you been holding up?" "Like a good Caltholic boy" "that bad huh" - actual conversation with his priest

So Daredevil struggles with his mission as a crime fighter because killing criminals goes against his faith. He makes it a point to not kill criminals, believing that even bad people deserve a second chance. This philosophy puts him at odds against The Punisher, who is a relentless killer. As a Catholic myself, while I love the concept of a morally conflicted superhero, I think the worldbuilding around Daredevil is lacking. If he struggles with violence and killing, why doesn't he pray to warrior saints like Saint Michael, Saint Ignatius of Loyola (a former knight), or Saint Joan of Arc? Why isn't there a community of other Catholics he can turn to for guidance, considering New York City has a sizeable population of Catholics? And why are the churches he goes to always empty? Doesn't he know that the Catholic Church supports the just war theory? I think that would have made his burden more bearable.

He goes to church and confesses to punching people and says "imma do it again can i apologize in advance" and the father dude says "no you're meant to stop now" and Matt says "no" and they do this everyday. I'm not remembering it properly but this is a canon interaction i swear

I'm pretty sure you've already got plenty of submissions for her so I'll just say she was raised in what is basically a cult (technically a nunnery but let's be real) dedicated to keeping the body of the thing that will kill God behind the rock. One of their prayers is actually "I pray the rock is never rolled away". Harrow is extremely devout as penance for her earlier heretical actions in the tomb as a child (spoiler!) so the Catholic guilt really comes through

They're Catholicism with extra bones. Everyone is a nun. They have what is basically a rosary made from knuckle bones. They technically worship the same God as everyone else, but they're waaaay more focused on The Body in the Tomb (Mary) and we get a moment where we find out that while everyone else prays the equivilent of The Lords Prayer, they're doing the equivilent of Hail Mary. And they paint their faces with skulls.

She thinks leaving dry bread in a drawer is taking care of someone. She's in love with a 10,000 year old corpse (the same one they worship). She spent ALL NIGHT digging with her bare hands to make sure a field had bones every 5 feet so she could fight her girlfriend - I mean, greatest enemy. Spoiler territory: She's been puppeting her parents corpses since she was 8 years old. Instead of grieving her dead girlfriend, she gives herself a lobotomy. She makes soup with bone in it so she can use the bone IN THEIR STOMACH to try and kill them.

at first she’s determined to win and get back to her quiet district life

then she stumbles onto the main group and fights alongside them

finn and reader realize they fell for each other (shit tries to be slowburn but also not cause it’s basically their last days with each other)

reader makes peace with dying in the arena (her thought process is either she dies finn lives or they die together but either way she’s already accepted the fact she’s gonna die there but she does prefer finn lives so she makes sure he gets every advantage in the arena and risks her life for him multiple times which leads into him getting upset at her for that and shit gets emotional)

very end of the world mentality where they’re just unapologetically in love w each other (but dont admit to it cause whats the point) cause the end is near so what else can they do.

i imagine them sitting on the beach while everyone else is further near the trees, their feet on the sand, telling each other about their favorite childhood memories, her tearing up realizing she wont be able to spend her life with finn and hating fate for making them fall in love in this situation and everything being too late. she tries to hide her watery eyes and buries her face into his neck, intoxicating herself with his scent, trying to remember every detail about him, how his arms wrapped around her, his hair between her fingers, and his lips on her temple because she knows this’ll be one of the few memories she’ll ever have with him.

and like they dont even establish a relationship its just pure affection and adoration and everyone just seems to accept when they start acting like that with one another.

two soulmates who met too late and barely had time to spend with the love of their life before they never see each other again. ow.

Redson, Nezha, SWK, and Macaque Meeting S/O's Brothers headcanons! (Romantic)

Redson - fully prepared to fight. Since he’s an only child she has no clue how siblings are supposed to act. And obviously, they’re a demon, so their appearance is slightly jarring. But after a little while of conversation and the s/o gently nudging both parties to actually talk to each other, the brothers accept Redson. They actually probably find her to be cool with all his demon powers and now Redson gets to hear embarrassing stories about the s/o. It’s a win-win…..I think.

Nezha - he’s basically brothers with Wukong, so he knows the vibes. He acts stoic at first because he can tell that they’re sizing him up. But s/o makes a dumb joke and they all bust out laughing and from there things go very smoothly. By the end it’s like they’ve known each other for ages. He just fits in super well with them! And now s/o has a full on protection squad :)

SWK - very nervous, but also has faith in his abilities to read people and try to keep the peace. He understands why the brothers are apprehensive of him…he is a literal monkey, after all. That stage fright of his kicks in fast when he meets the brothers, however it’s a lot better as long as s/o is there. He really does his best to impress them and make them feel like he’s a good person and thankfully it goes over well. He shows them his tricks, they think it’s cool as heck. But afterwards he’s overthinking the whole thing so his s/o will have to calm him down lol

Macaque - not super nervous or anything, kinda just goes with it. He stays close to his s/o the whole time for comfort but he’s doing very well! The brothers think it’s a little weird that he’s a monkey, but they accept him fairly fast since he’s casual and not stiff. He tells them stories with shadows, shows them some of his powers. Like with Nezha, s/o ends up having a protection squad >:)

so to preface- the mercs are basically isekai'd into the lands between, relating to some lore about Marika and undead. One moment they're being shot at and dying in the New Mexico badlands and the next they're on a cliff that overlooks a giant tree the size of 2.5 burj khalifas that glows.

They travel for a while and meet Sellen, who offers to teach them sorceries, and Engie, after not having any mechanical things to tinker with for a while, and realizing magic is this place's math and science, gladly accepts. After all, he doesn't have his sentries and tools, so he might as well learn something new, he loves learning. When Merasmus pops in on Halloween flinging spells around is usually pretty fun, so why not? Also Scout nearly blew himself up when he tried doing magic, so no more for him.

So Engie is the team's other ranged fighter! Aside from Sniper, who uses a bow and arrow.

He usually works as the team's mediator, breaking up fights between them and talking to people who are even less mentally stable than the mercs cause, well, if it had to be a contest on who has people that are less mentally stable, I think Elden Ring would win.

He also teaches the team how to ride the horses they were given!

It. Goes.

He does split from the team sometimes though, to go with Sellen to find Primeval sorcerers and learn some of their magic (he does learn Comet Azur). But generally he sticks with the team. He goes with them through Stormveil, Radahn, Mt Gelmir, Leyendell- some nice spots! I have a scene in mind where they're about to fight Godrick The Grafted, and when they enter his arena, he does his little 'oo lowly tarnished playing as a lord' but Engie just 'actually, we aint lookin to become no lords, we just wanna go home'. And Godrick is like. What.

They also find and heal Millicent in this au! And when they find her Heavy, Engie, and Spy (much to his own chagrin) are like 'i have known Millicent for 1 day but if anything happened to her I would kill this entire team and then myself'. Millicent and Engie bond the best though, cause of being amputees (Godrick ripped off Engie's gunslinger btw to try grafting it into themself, it didn't work and the gunslinger was ruined), Millicent being interested in Engie's homeland of Texas, and Engie in general is just, so dadly, dadliest merc, and very friendly when you dont realize how not normal he is. Plus if you know Millicent's backstory you know she could use a dad right now.

She goes with him and Sellen on their adventures to find primeval sorcerers and Sellen stuff, but they do part when Engie and the team takes on Radahn, citing she has to go on her journey (if u play Elden Ring, u know).

After the first death of the team and Spy leaving, Engie does try to console Soldier, telling him he's a good leader, and they'll get home, he promises. Engie and him do fight though when he realizes what dragon communion is doing to Soldier's body, and says he can't be doing that, they don't know what it'll do to him (how hypocritical of you, Engie).

He goes to Raya Lucaria to help Sellen one last time. I have this comic I made but I don't think I'll finish it, and I don't wanna spoil Engie's fate out in The Public until I write it in the fic i wanna write, but here's a part of comic

thank you!! and yes i usually have at least a vague idea of what i want in the story before i start, though a lot of it didn't become concrete until i started writing/things evolving from there. i made a big (slightly) vague timeline of the entire fic from beginning to (almost) end, and then i keep fleshing it out from there as the ideas keep coming to me/evolving, and for each chapter i make an even more detailed outline, and THEN i get started on the final chapter. so its a bit of a process bahaha, but the brainstorming is really fun!! as for any advice, im not sure. maybe just brainstorm/write down scenes and ideas that you know for a fact that you want to put in your fic, and then try to find a way to connect them to other scenes from there and work backwards. basically WRITE WHAT YOU WANT TO READ, cuz like im my own biggest fan fr, thats the most important part LMAO

ive been watching mech cadets, only have 2 episodes left to watch, here's my thoughts so far

1/ sentient alien mech suits? yes please. (i never got into transformers somehow but i love sentient robots, give me more. if you have good sentient mechs media to recommend, gimme) i do wish we'd see more of them tho, as in, their personalities, and like, lore, where'd they come from? why did they come here to help against the sharg? i do like the comment on how they arent battle ready when they arrive, the humans arm them up. there's just so much here i want to know more about.

2/ the general style is nice, i love the little intro animation, really sleek. i also love how the animation style changed during flashback sequences? that's really cool. the nexus link view where u see the pilots in dot space is kinda silly but in a fun way. i like the robo designs, and their round hover wings whatever it is. cool shit.

3/ standford yu somehow the least interesting character lmao? ava fucking rocks. she's the best. tanaka great mentor figure. i love maya and frank, they're very sweet. olivia really came around, and despite how hateable commander park is, i do love that you can see where he's coming from, even if you dont agree with his actions. that's good character writing

4/ i gotta give frank's disability its own bullpoint. spoilers i guess i just wanna gush about it. the guy has a prosthetic leg and it's not an issue for him being a pilot, altho we do see in a flashback that he's actually more comfortable without the prosthetic and prefers his crutches? which is like. the first time ive seen a disabled character say that in media. that rules. he does accept to wear a prosthetic cause that's a concession he has to make to be able to pilot a mech. in a fight scene against a sharg, his prosthetic gets cut in half, and he doesn't skip a beat and continues fighting, without then with his crutches once he gets his hands on them, and even just. stabs the monster with his broken off prosthetic, which fucking rules. from then on, he doesnt get a new prosthetic, he just keeps his crutches, and instead gets a special suit that has a prosthetic inside of it cause he needs it to pilot the mech, but he's not forced to have the prosthetic outside the mech in his day to day life, which is like? accessibility win?? he didn't want it to begin with, the reason he had to wear it was "we can't modify the suit just for one guy" basically (which is the only reason he was worried for a few episodes about his prosthetic not being fixed -- it was just bc he wanted to pilot the mech, he could handle himself fine without it). and the, just, visual metaphor of ripping the rest of his broken prosthetic to finish of the sharg in that fight scene i mentioned earlier? like it's a liberation?? incredible. i just. i love this so much. this is all that matters to me now. i love frank and how they've treated him and his disability so much.

5/ literal mothership ahah oops they're fucked

so when u play totk, theres something that stands out to me. and its the fact that the plot is fairly weak. theres some rlly good parts (looking at u tulin) and some heartbreaking parts, but when u stop and look at it objectively, its like. huh?????

i think totk wouldve been stronger if it hadnt been a sequel to botw. it was already in its shadow, but this choice made the shadow even longer. it was a poor choice

i find it incredibly hard to believe that totk zelda wouldve actually swallowed her stone. she wouldve researched for years instead of succumbing to something like that. like, i get it! her new mom and dad are dead now. but she was already researching and knows that last time, sacrificing herself instead of embracing herself went BADLY. if this was a brand new zelda, i wouldve believed it

now dont get me wrong! the ending boss fight was very powerful. i especially loved the section where ure fighting in the sky (even tho it succumbed to the same easiness as dark beast ganon, but thats another essay). and i love how the scene with them plummeting to the ground reiterates the prologue, and he catches her this time. thats powerful.

but then u remember that zelda probably wouldnt be a dragon, and its like. damn man.

i pretty much only pull on limited banners which is why i could put in that many for gavial and pozy without dipping into the wallet that much. ling and lee, on the other hand, THAT shit hurted my money. for my arknights pulls i basically set myself a number of rules that rely on the slight delay between CN and global that let me think out ops in advance and such. essentially, i allow myself one operator release between limited banners to actually invest in, based on how they look, their mechanics, and what i like in a character. so mlynar is my one between gavialter/pozy and omertexas/penance, simple as. GG was a previous "one." so was surtr. unfortunately this system does mean i have to skip characters that i do like- for example, i prio'ed GG over gnosis and fiammetta, who i both really enjoy as characters- because i ruled that GG has the most utility that i can take advantage of in my average playstyle and her global range is just too good at covering for my smallbrain moments. so for that reason, i normally have around 17 ten-pulls saved for each limited banner including the free ones that you get (meaning i average around 175 pulls since i throw in a few singles to make it nice and even.) ling and lee were an exception since mr lee just decided to fight me on it. to this day the only operator released on a limited banner that hasn't come home is irene and that's because i put foresight in myself and reminded myself that gavialter and pozemka would be upcoming in a much shorter gap than between ling/lee and specalter/irene, and i would regret it if i went all in for irene. the primary goal is always the operator who will be impossible to get at any other time of the year. yes i plot these things that far in advance like a general going to war. it's how i Survive . i've been doing it pretty much since i started when the limited to save up for was W.

i don't intend to pull for maxpot on mlynar for this reason. even with him sitting at my all time favorite character in the game, it doesn't fit my standard of pulling. eyes are ahead to omertexas and penance once he's home. though i do have idle plans to use any royal guard tokens i get on him. i would like him to be maxpot someday but given that i generally roll with the broad goal of collecting as many characters as possible, it's incompatible for the moment.

rn i indulge at feh and genshin at the request of my friends who do play them. i do enjoy genshin and it's a fun time killer- it's a shame the fanbase is So. i try not to indulge in gacha games unless they're recommended to me by friends, and arknights was, in fact, a rec when it was fresh enough (i think right after partial necrosis dropped because i had the frostnova lore explained to me as a hook.) i started right at the tail end of nian's banner. most of the vibeo games i play are non-gacha to avoid the hurts to my wallet that mr lee put on it. at least with arknights i can feel like i'm actually paying them for a good game PFSDLGH.....

I saw that and laughed out loud, apparently Pedri is only able to give hugs to one person at a time please 😭😭😭 also, fermin was the one who went in for the hug (obviously because they've gotten close) so idk how did they conclude that Pedri is doing it for attention 😭😭 I dont know why some people want him to be a bad person so bad he doesn't give bad a vibes at all and is universally loved by everyone around him so it confuses me when people hate on him. It's like they just create reasons to hate on him because they can't find any. Gavi on the other hand gets hate for breathing basically. The ugly men hate him because the girls love him. my translation of a viedo essay about humans ego

humans ego is a tool for us to survive which divides outside world from inside world  and u cant live without it. normal people can only experience  disappearance of ego for a short amount of time like when on drugs. some certain techniques can make ur ego borders thinner and some say that it feels fucking wonderful thats why they do it heres a short cartoon (with english subs !) that explains this experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liXqrnAGraQ&t=0s.  if your ego is gone then u are probably mentally ill bcuz without that border ull start having constant  dissociations and derealizations and ur mind basically cant take it ur mental health will probably fade away with the sense of being a human. ego starts to appear when you're about three years old that's when u realise that ur mom is not u ur mom is ur mom and u is u and stuff like that. we can describe ego like a skin that helps our inner mental things to stay the way they are. but unlike our actual skin it can affect our thoughts, behaviour and reactions on things outside us (like other people environment etc.). and this can be a problem because our ego once again unlike our actual skin can deform while developing. for example if we try imagining a narcissists ego it'll be like a spiky outline of them, they are very defensive and can go overboard while standing up for their personal boundaries. and then he shows a couple more of examples but im too lazy to translate 

so yeah life without ego is impossible. we need some kind of shield from the outside world and other ppl. they only time we can put them down is around our loved ones and thats why in relationships our boundaries are kinda non-existing. now about other social situations. argument between two people is actually just their egos fighting and its really pointless the only thing u get in reward is self validation its only boosting our ego which in large amounts can be very bad. a good argument is more like a discussion where there is no winning side just opinions. most of the times when u are arguing ur ego is basically telling u smth like "u dumb fuck if we dont win this we are going to be the nastiest slugs in the universe and i don't like being humiliated  ".  in situations like this its best to tell yourself that u are not the smartest of all times and u cant be right all the time and that its totally ok to be like that. even if for example you are arguing in the presence of a person that u like and u dont wanna look lame its all your ego! its not your duty to incline other persons opinion because with existence of ego its only natural for people to have different povs. liberalism is also mostly about egoism. its all about what you can have. the problem of liberalism is that it can once again inflate ur ego so much that u dont take other people opinions properly, u believe that there can only be one true way of living ect. but the truth is there is no right and there is no wrong all people no matter how big their salary, house, car collection is big are all the same and there are no main characters. but ego is trying to tell us that we are one in a kind and that we are the main character which can be really problematic. envy is also a creation of ego.

when we see another human having something that we dont have it makes us want to take it from them. in terms of surviving its really nice but in modern society its something that is not good for us. when that happens its once again best tot step out of your ego for a sec and realise that some people are just better and certain things and its totally normal.

now the tough stuff

ego is also something that safes us from realisation  of universal void. the point of life. many people say that we create our meaning of life. but this is also our ego speaking. ego makes us think that all that happened in our lives is our path and that its not a coincidence. but its not like that. we are only a piece of sand in all the universe, which existed before us and will outlive us. ego helps us imagine a path of our lives but the truth is every path ends with death. there is no sense in giving life some kind of sense because it just happened and the only thing we can do about it is be happy. but in order to live happily people need an illusion of a working structure which we created. society that we created is all about giving life a working system in which we can dive into and pretend that our life has a meaning. if we actually think about certain things we would be terrified because all our surroundings are chaotic. that's why ego is trying to attach to something material and give us a feeling of smth meaningful. we need our life to make sense. buddhism says that the root of all the problems is attachment that creates ego. death. ego is very afraid of dying it wants us to live forever. ego wants to be there even after death, it wants other people to remember us. that's why many religions say stuff about reincarnations and life after death, to not feel scared of the fact that we live only once and there's no meaning for human to exist in the first place. that's why a lot of people with big egos are taking life too serious but the thing is as i already said we can only be happy that we get to live and all we can do is have fun while we can.
