Whenever I see you post about hbo war I'm always really curious what it is? Is it a tv show? (If so is it good 👀)

ohhhhhh anon okay okay okay okay i am going to be completely normal answering this ask agajdhdjdhd

OKAY SO "hbo war" is more like... an anthology, i guess??? it's what the fandom calls a series of hbo-produced miniseries about war. so far it encompasses band of brothers (2001; wwii western front), the pacific (2010; wwii marine pacific campaign) and generation kill (2008; iraq war). currently masters of the air is in production (and has been since i first joined the fandom in 2015 💀) which will be about the air force in wwii. all the series so far are based on real events, veterans, memoirs etc. so all the characters are people who actually fought in those wars; but they're obviously fictionalised portrayals, turned into drama tv, and each cast has such CHEMISTRY that's why you'll see a lot of shipping if u dip ur toe into the fandom hehe.

band of brothers is personally my favourite, it is the og, it has so many now a-list actors who were virtual unknowns back then (michael fassbender, james mcavoy, andrew scott, tom hardy, damian lewis, even jimmy fallon has a random cameo) and has the most personal involvement from tom hanks (who also directed one of the episodes). like, even if you're not super into war media??? i recommend it SO hard. it's only 10 eps, and though there's a huge ensemble cast each episode hones in on one character and follows them through one aspect of the war. the storytelling, the acting, the cinematography is just... mwah. and not to toot the fandom's horn but some of the best fic i have ever read has been in the band of brothers tag (you want some bourbon i want some oranges by jouissant i'm looking at you!!!) so, yeah.

the pacific is a little different as it has three main characters with different and interweaving storylines instead of following one company through the war like brothers. it's also much darker, more sombre, and with a lot more gore (and band of brothers already has a lot) but it's just as fantastic! generation kill can be a tough sell to people outside the fandom but it's a really nuanced story of how absolutely fucked the war is and the way it leaves you feeling very.... hollow and awful and tender in the final episode (gen kill only has 7) is like. really powerful. again, famous actors in both series who got notoriety later on - james ransome, alexander skarsgard, rami malek to name a few! a lot of people in the hbo war fandom are history buffs and have only seen the two wwii series; but i really do wholeheartedly recommend gen kill because despite the tonal shift it's still very much in the genre. AND has like. one of the best fics i've ever read in any fandom (a pacific rim crossover called you can fight the hurricane, i can't remember the author off the top of my head!)

ANYWAY this got like. long but at the end of the day. yes they have their issues mainly like an entirely male ensemble cast and for the pacific and band of brothers almost entirely white. but i might be biased bc i love war history but like. the stories they are able to tell about humanity and love and loss and grief and violence and gentleness and friendship is just so!!!!!!!! beautiful. gets me every time. i think i've rewatched brothers at least once a year since 2015 and it continues to never miss!

tl;dr hbo war refers to three separate hbo miniseries about war that are all worth watching!!!

You’re also aware there’s a few videos out there with people who do fun date ideas with their partner — of course you’re aware of it, and sometimes, you’re guilty of suggesting the same ideas — without mentioning said sappy video, of course — to your husband, but most times, much like this one, it ends in absurdity.

You had made the mistake of suggesting the idea of picking each other’s outfits.

“Are you saying that because you got your foot stuck or because you actually think it’s ridiculous?”

“You’re the one who said we should do this!”

Kenma hops around in the dressing room next to yours, his hand smacked against the wall to steady himself while he attempts to tug the fabric over the edge of his ankle, and when you peer over, fingers curled around the edge of the door, his eyes catch yours and he’s not happy.

“It’s okay-” Your free hand comes over your mouth as you try to stifle your amusement, but your glee overtakes you and flows through your heart, “I love you no matter what you wear - even if the pants are really ugly.”

“Ew, that’s so sappy, I might vomit.” You catch him rolling his eyes, and he grunts when another shirt is thrown at his head in retaliation.

“Oh, shut up!” You playfully scowl, and your hand comes up to gesture at him, “Do you need me to help you out of those or do you succumb to your fate of being eaten by the pants?”

“...Please help me so we can go home.”

“Yeah, yeah hold on.”

Okay, so maybe the couple videos never quite worked out, but maybe it didn’t matter. He was still your husband and you still loved each other, and really, that was all that you really cared about.

this is a series i’ll reread a lot bc it’s so fucking good. follows young reddie into early adulthood, mostly a bunch of cute shit where they figure out themselves and their relationship. also contains the single best teen reddie fic in existence, he came in through the window, but reading the whole series is a must

brokeback derry and everything else by Amuly, rated E

27 years in between, richie and eddie reconnect in their 20s and meet back up in derry twice a year to remember and love each other before going back to their lives and forgetting. so much pain. there’s a lot of sweet stuff in there, but you can see shit’s gonna get complicated from miles away and the anticipation almost gave me stomach ulcers (in a good way). ultimate angst with a happy ending.

speaking of angst with a happy ending...Martian AU!!!!! this one fucked me up in the best way, i literally called my roommate at 2am to vent to her about my emotions after reading it. i go back and reread chapter 8 just to be overwhelmed by it, and it makes me cry every time. plus, there are awesome sequels/companion pieces in the series! read this, i beg you!

walk through fire for you by hyruling, rated T

unwind after all that angst with some cute, drunk, confused eddie being very upset when he finds out richie is engaged. richie only teases him a little before pointing out the matching ring on eddie’s finger.

a strange sense of familiarity [WIP] by Katranga, rated E

another “they meet and fall in love without remembering” fic, and even though it’s not complete yet, it gets regular updates. oh, also, i’m obsessed with it. they’re long distance fuck buddies who can’t admit they’re in love, and then they get hit with the childhood memories! and everyone lives! what’s not to love!  also PLEASE read kisses take like mint and every other reddie work by this author, they are all fantastic

adult friends by sudowoodo, rated T

AU where adult reddie meet at a first aid seminar for work (immediately fall in love), become friends, become best friends, and finally get to be happy. has some super repressed eddie and intensely pining richie, which is always fun, and genuinely made me laugh out loud. also please check out this author’s other reddie fics, there’s some super sweet kid reddie in there that really warms the heart

the mind's a funny fruit by joldiego, rated T

eddie wakes up barely alive in derry, has 0 memory, calls himself richie, and moves in with some lesbians. an absolute must read that ought to be on every reddie fic rec compilation. i read this a long time ago and just thinking about it makes me want to read it again.

now what i'm gonna say may sound indelicate [WIP] by IfItHollers, rated E

it took me entirely too long to find this fic since i joined the fandom, and it’s truly a fucking masterpiece. it’s almost at 200k now and still unfinished, and the slow burn is excruciating, but this is a legendary fic for a reason. eddie spends the first chunk of this fic in the hospital recovering from the massive chest wound, and then he and richie move the recovery to ben’s cabin in the woods. the author’s notes for each chapter are a story in themselves

signs of a new lifetime by swordfishtrombones, rated T

one of the sweetest, most romantic reddie fics i’ve ever read. a fresh take on a classic concept: post-ch2, they’re in love, they haven’t said/done anything about it yet, BUT!!! it’s not angsty! they are all cute and giggly like “you say it first!” “no, you say it first!” and it makes me fucking MELT

broadcasting tower by swordfishtrombones, rated E

back-to-back recs from the same author! bc i love these fics so much! sort of similar to the last one in that they both know what’s up and just haven’t said it, but this one’s got the angst! i didn’t know when i read it that it was the same author as the other fic, and i thought how funny, i found another reddie author that perfectly captures this pair in such a wonderfully romantic way! i also just noticed there’s a follow up to this so now i have to go read that immediately

eurydice; the original comeback kid by Vulcanodon, rated M

for the love of god please read this and the other work in this series. it’s a ch-2 fix-it with some intense action sequences and major pining, and it has haunted me since i first read it

love on the telephone by tempestbreak, rated E

okay this one is really just 30k of pure smut but it’s also so sweet and features a mini sexual awakening for eddie and some insecure richie with an emphasis on how much they love and trust each other. also it doesn’t hurt that the smut is fire, like does anyone else want that twink obliterated, or is it just me?

the boy who loves you by candlejill, rated E

eddie lives, richie confesses, things are chill and then they’re not. richie’s career flourishes, which is always nice to read and is what ultimately catalyzes eddie’s gay awakening and realization of his love for richie. it’s got some sad angsty parts and a very sweet ending, and it up there as one of my favorite reddie fics of all time

richie and eddie break up [WIP] by skeilig, rated M

a refreshing and realistic take on life ch-2 for the losers, because being in love at thirteen doesn’t mean you can fall into a perfect relationship at 40. i’ll admit, i’m hoping this will ultimately be a “richie and eddie get back together” fic, but it’s still a very good read (and often very funny in the second chapter) at the moment in the midst of their break up

september 1989 and everything else by pineapplecrushface, rated T

cute kid reddie figuring it out and making me smile. the follow up to this and the after derry series by this author are also personal favorites

character study with some incredible fucking prose, my lord it gorgeous. explores how eddie learns about love as he grows up, and it’s super fucking sad sometimes bc the poor boy doesn’t know how to have the things he wants and i just want to give him a hug, but it’s really a spectacular fic

circular motion by sinchronicity, rated M

soulmate!AU that follows book canon and even though it’s been a long time since i’ve read it and the details are fuzzy, i remember absolutely loving it and thinking it was incredible

i resisted reading this fic for so long, recently broke and binged all of it, and now i’m like frothing at the mouth for updates. richie’s a closeted actor/comedian who meets eddie, a professional Dom, when he needs help researching a role. they become friends, they develop crushes, richie realizes he’s a sub, and it’s just so much fun to read

there’s a lot more fics to rec so i might add on to this in the future, but in the meantime my biggest tip for for reading fanfiction that took me embarrassingly long to figure out: focus on the authors! if you read something you like, check out the rest of the work by that author bc odds are you’ll like that too. i mentioned it in a few specific works above, but check out the authors catalogues for these fics. if i included every work by these authors that i loved, this list would be miles long

First and foremost, because this is a general event meant to celebrate the novel in all its entirety, all ships—or lack thereof—are welcome in the fan works created. And below we will describe the rules of participation.

Propriety 

Though there is a screen between us, please do remember that all participants and we Mods are all humans. Always remember to speak with respect and kindness.

A huge part of this event is collaborative, so all participants must be mindful and respect one another’s squicks and no gos within the artist/writer teams.

General Requirements

Do not post the entirety of your works to any social media until your assigned posting date, however teasers are permitted to an extent. If you have a question about whether or not your teaser is too revealing, please ask us, that’s why we’re here.

You must comply with mandatory deadlines and check-ins; failure to do so will result in ineligibility to participate in the bang. This will make your art invalid to claim or require a pinch hitter to write the story in your stead. Though, we understand emergencies and life issues can get in the way, just please be open and honest with your Mods.

Artist Requirements

All art pieces must be created for this specific event by your own two hands, you cannot turn in an already published piece or anything of the like.

You cannot claim your own art if you decide to also participate as an author.

I know you’ve read this a thousand times over, but this is a—let’s say it together now—collaborative event! So you are highly (HIGHLY) suggested to be in contact with your author and to communicate with them through the process. Due to this, please give each other up-to-date contact information whether through Tumblr, Discord, Twitter, or email when you begin communicating. 

Artist Specifics 

Digital traditional art: Your final piece must be no smaller than 800x600 pixels, and the idea of a completed art piece is up to uour  discretion, what you would ordinarily post on ur own blog. You are permitted to create more pieces to accompany the story if you so wish once you and your author begin collaborating (but this is completely optional).

Comics must be at least one full page.

Playlist entries should have at least 12 tracks in the queue, with a completed front and back cover, and a accessible link.

Graphic edits should include a coherent story arc, while adhering to Tumblr sizing limitations.

For any other inquiries, please message us through the ask box or email.

Author Specifics 

You cannot claim your own work if you also signed up as an artist.

The minimum word count is five thousand (5,000) words and absolutely no maximum, but do take caution that your fic must be completed and beta’d by the final submission date.

All writing pieces must be beta read before publication. You may use your own beta or request a beta through the bang.

Again, this event hinges on the fact that it is CALLABORTIVE! This means means that you are highly (HIGHLY) suggested to get in contact and stay in contact with your artists as you create your project with one another.

As authors, you are required to take into consideration your artist’s squicks, no gos, triggers and etc. You want to stay respectful and thoughtful to your partner.

Please! Please! Do NOT claim a NSFW artwork unless you are 18+, we know that this is mainly based off of trust, but if you do lie about this and we somehow figure it out, you will be removed from the event and prevented from participating in any future events.

How To Sign Up

The sign up date and check in date are all published in our schedule.

Signups for the event will be through a google forms link, but for now we want to simply get a head count of how many people are interested and or excited to participate.

All forms—amidst the four separate ones for artists, authors, pinch hitters, and betas—will ask for your name, contact email, and one reliable social media contact (tumblr, twitter, instagram, discord) which are all required. If you agree to be a pinch hitter as an author in your form, you will not have to fill out the pinch hitter form separately. Beta forms have slightly different questions asking on their strengths and preferences for what to beta.

The discord link will be sent in the confirmation email once you’ve signed up.

Once Artists Complete Their Works 

One of the most important rules we hold is that when an artist completes their piece for the claiming rounds, that you do NOT include a watermark or signature for the preview page. We want folks to choose anonymously to try and make this as much of a fair playing field as possible.

We know art theft is a concern, but we promise that the preview page is simply a google doc with limited permissions, with the art works all shown in a column and it will not expand from that private viewing.

The preview will only be open to participants of the event, and we ask kindly for no one to share the link anywhere to anyone.

The only information in the preview page is simply the art piece, with a number indicating it for claims. The NSFW work will be divided with a distinct warning. But that is all, anything else the artist wishes to clarify to their author will be discussed once we pair everyone up.

You will be able to edit your artwork as much as you please once linked up with your artist, but it must be recognizable from your original submission.

Look above for the mandatory aspects of your art medium.

No artworks or artists can be accepted once the previews are opened to the authors.

Claiming 

Artworks are anonymous, without any watermarks or signatures by the artist. So they will be claimed based off the artwork and that is all.

All art pieces will be given a number to make claiming run smoothly.

All claims, once submitted to us, are final. So please authors be careful in choosing artworks you can and are excited to write for.

Take your time with claims, they are not done on a first come/first serve basis. But we will do our best to match everyone up with their preferred choices.

Authors should not choose an art piece with a possible trigger/squick already in mind before they even speak to the author.

Check-ins

All check-ins are mandatory. You will receive the check-in forms through a link via email and posted on the discord server. We really hope everyone is honest and consistent with communication.

All check-in dates are already scheduled and you can see them on our schedule post, though if you have a conflict on any of those dates, please communicate that to us before hand.

When you sign up for the event, you are required to give us an email that you check regularly and can communicate easily through.

You are only “required” to communicate with your artist/author directly after claiming and directly before posting begins. But again, we highly suggest you communicate throughout.

Always stay as kind as possible to one another.

Posting is obviously the final part of this event, please as stated above, do not post your works anywhere publicly before hand, besides small teasers that shouldn’t give much of anything away.

Your posting dates will be assigned by your Mods, but if there is any sort of conflict just message us ASAP.

There are no requirements for actual posting, besides the fact that the artist/author duo discuss with one another when they’d like to publish, and tag this blog on the post for round up.

There will be an AO3 collection that you can opt into joining, whether through the link or search box. It will be revealed and not-anonymous from the start.

There is also no posting standard, but in your posts we do ask that you both link to one another’s pieces so to help the folks consuming your works understand the full picture.

Because tumblr is unreliable, we ask you to both tag the blog, RWRBREVERSEBANG, and also send us the links through the submissions form.

If you miss your posting date, please contact us and speak with us to figure out when and how you can publish your work.

Having three guys for best friends had its perks and its downfalls. On one hand it was nice to have people always looking out for me no matter what, but other times the guys would take things too far. They were a very protective group of boys so if anyone would approach me it was like we were reverse mormons, all three of them would play the boyfriend role. Every time this happens, I would just mentally face palm and go on with my day, but lately it’s gotten to the point where we have to talk about it.

I was walking down the street with the guys when a cute touron passed by, eyeing me as I passed. As soon as JJ noticed the boy’s gaze, his arm was around me. I ducked under it and stared daggers into him. The touron quickly hurried away once he had seen JJ act and I let out a sigh. I stopped walking and stared at the three boys who had turned to look at me, acting clueless.

“This,” I said motioning to the four of us in a circular motion. “Needs to stop. I’m never going to get a boyfriend if you guys keep behaving like this.” “Great,” JJ said. I rolled my eyes, knowing exactly where this was going. “We don’t want another guy around, Kie.”

“You guys might not,” I said. “But I do.”

What the guys didn’t see when they looked at me was a hopeless romantic. I wanted to fall in love and experience everything like the other girls my age, but with them playing boyfriend, it would never happen.

“You guys have to stop being so protective,” I said. “I can take care of myself.”

They shrugged it off, making me realize that that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon. The boys just didn’t get it. They relaxed about it for the rest of the day, but I could tell the impulses to jump in when I caught a guy's attention were hard to fight. I was proud of how hard they were trying, but I didn’t think it would last very long.

A couple days passed and they continued to make an effort for me. I was truly shocked with how well behaved the boys were acting as well. The noticeable flirting had gone down a little as well which was almost nice. Everything was going well until we decided to have a kegger on the beach. The night was upon us and a fire was burning brightly in front of me. I was talking about how plastic was killing our oceans when a cute touron approached me, sitting next to me in front of the fire. He had cute blonde hair and his brown eyes were illuminated with the red of the flames. He stared at me and listened carefully to my rant, fully engrossed in the conversation. However, I was fully engrossed with him. He was gorgeous.

“So, is environmental sustainability your main passion?” he asked me. I smiled at his question.

“I would say it’s one of them,” I said. “But I wouldn’t say it’s my main interest.”

“Well what would that be?” he asked me, leaning a little closer.

“Right now, I would say it’s you,” I flirted with him. He chuckled softly and told me that that was smooth. I smiled and tilted my head to the side, tucking a piece of my hair out of my face. He began to talk about how we should be giving no less than 100 percent back to the Earth and my heart was beating out of my chest.

As the night went on, the conversation became better than the alcohol. We could’ve talked all night, but then something took a turn for the worse. I felt his hand on my upper thigh. He was tracing little circles on my inner thigh, creeping further and further up. I grabbed his wrist and things began to escalate in a manner I didn’t want them to go. He said things like that he’s only here for a couple nights so we should have some fun. He told me that I had been leading him on all night and it would be rude of me not to put out after that. His eyes had gone from sweet to sinister and now the flame lit face gave off a malicious vibe, The sweet boy had turned into something vicious. I tried to scoot away, but he kept a firm grip on my thigh. I could feel his fingers digging into my leg in order to keep me from getting away. I told him that he was hurting me, but he still didn’t let go. Then there was a hand on his shoulder. I looked up to see JJ behind him. John B joined him too. Pope helped me up.

“Dude, she clearly isn’t interested,” JJ said, rolling his eyes at how persistent the dude was being.

“Chill out. She was practically asking for me to sleep with her,” the dude said, getting up. I watched as John B didn’t even let him redeem himself. The boy punched him straight across the cheek.

“We’ve been watching you all night and there is no way she’d settle for a lowlife like you,” he said as the dude struggled to get back on his feet. “Kie’s way too good for someone like you.” Pope asked me if I was okay and I nodded. I watched as John and JJ high fived and took a couple steps towards me, also making sure I was okay. I was slightly disappointed that the boy ended up being such a jerk, but I was still so happy.

“Have you guys just been watching us this whole time?” I asked with a knowing smile. I listened to John and JJ deny it, but Pope said yes. I chuckled and hugged them. Even though they were overprotective sometimes, I knew there wasn’t a thing that these boys wouldn’t do for me.

It wasn’t difficult to find Tony, it was much harder to avoid him. You made your way down to the extremely lush and extravagant leisure area the Wakandan royals had created for the Avengers (and of course, their use). You made a beeline for the enormous pool, and found him. 

Tony was floating on a large inflatable, his eyes closed beneath sunglasses as he carelessly drifted across the surface of the pool. Sunlight filtered in through glass-panels on the ceiling, and gave the room an ethereal glow. 

You two were alone now, no other Avengers to speak of. 

You were still clutching the metal flip-phone in one hand, careful not to misplace your lifeline as you approached the edge of the pool, waiting for a moment before speaking. “Tony,” you were nervous, almost, fiddling with your hands. 

He cracked a small smile, but didn’t open his eyes. “Y/N,” his hand dropped to the water, skimming his fingers across the surface. “Did you get my present?”

“I did,” it was hard to hide the trace of happiness in your voice. It had been months of lonely isolation, and speaking to Peter brought a ray of light through the overcast your fugitive life had become. “I came to thank you. It means a lot that you would... arrange something like that for me.”

“You’re welcome,” he continued to drift, his expression neutral, aside from the growing smirk. “He’s exactly like you, Y/N. Just as smart and just as much of a pain in my ass.” He continued to create ripples in the pool with his finger, and used his free hand to lift his sunglasses, easily finding you in the room. “The water’s fine, if you want to join.” 

You rolled your eyes, but paused. You had nowhere to be, and the crystal clear blue waters did look appealing. Biting your lip, you stood and approached one of the chairs beside the side of the pool, shrugging off your shoes, shirt, and shorts. It was nothing he hadn’t seen before, and it was harmless. You dropped the phone on top of the pile, and approached the edge of the pool, slipping in without a second thought. 

The water engulfed you and quickly soaked the fabric, and true to his word, it was cool, but not cold, and very comfortable. You pulled back your hair to keep it out of the water, and waded over towards the raft, the water nearly reaching your waist. Your fingers traced shapes on the plastic inflatable, considering what you could say. You didn’t owe him an apology, you hadn’t done anything he didn’t deserve, but you had missed him. “Why are you here?” You asked, your voice soft as your eyes traced the intricate wiring of the arc-reactor inlaid in his chest.

“At the pool?” He sounded relieved at the lack of hostility in your voice, and his eyes admired your lack of discernible clothing. You still wore the same bras you did back then-- with the tiny black bow between the valley of your breasts. “It’s a thousand degrees outside, and I--”

“Tony,” you interrupted, your eyes lifted to his, your brow knit together in a complex blend of emotions, “I’m serious. I need you to be honest with me. Are you here to win me back?” You weren’t sure what you wanted to hear him say. You missed him, and Peter, and May-- you missed your friends, and New York, but you needed answers.

He considered what he could say, shifting on the inflatable raft and working his jaw. “Yes, and no.” He answered honestly, wanting nothing more than to touch the delicate swell of your knuckles, but deciding it was safer to keep his hands to himself. “I needed Steve, and the Avengers for a mission back in the states, and you were here, so I decided to make the trip.” 

Some part of you was disappointed, but you shoved it down and focused on the task at hand. That was what your life had become. Tackling things one at a time, trying to tread water to keep from drowning. Steve was nice, Wakanda was beautiful... but you didn’t belong here. You were an engineer, not a superhero. A few months ago, this would’ve been enough for you to take the next flight home with him-- but not now, not after everything he’d said and done. “I don’t understand,” you said finally, “why.” You retracted your hand from the raft, and crossed your arms, physically withdrawing and leaving a visible divide between the two of you. You said you loved me. The words couldn’t leave your lips. 

He was at an impasse. This was where the two roads divided. He could say something callous, and lose you forever, but protect you from men like him-- men who would say whatever it took to get you back, and treat you with as much reverence as a discarded toy. Or he could apologize, embrace you, and steal you for himself-- knowing that you’d always wonder whether or not his affections were genuine. It was the same one he’d crumbled at all those months ago, when he saw you in his bed and felt so satisfied for the first time in his life-- and he’d sent you away. Nights spent drinking, lamenting his selflessness, his cowardice, and most of all-- how he couldn’t stop loving you. “I don’t either,” he responded, his breathing shallow and painful. How could he be stupid enough to let you go? “I never meant to hurt you.”

Your short scoff was soaked in pain, heartbreak, and lost naivety. “Really? What message did you hope to portray by sending Happy to throw me out the morning after?” It was barbed, venomous, and hurt. 

“I--” he sighed, wishing you weren’t so very far from him. He wanted to touch your face, let his thumb gently caress your cheekbone, see those pretty eyes look at him again. “I was afraid.” He let his legs dangle off the edge of the inflatable, water touching his skin. “You’re young, and smart, and you scare the hell out of me.” With a inward breath, he slid off the raft, sending out a wave of ripples through the pool. “I loved you, and I didn’t want to hurt you.”

“So your solution was to hurt me?” You denied how his words appealed to you, like ointment on an intense burn-- it cooled your anger, but it didn’t appease you. “Tony, I would’ve understood! If you had just talked to me, I would’ve understood!”

“No, you wouldn’t have!” He snapped, his eyes locked on yours as he took a small step towards you. “You would’ve kissed me and told me that you didn’t care what people said about you-- and that you loved me-- and I wouldn’t have been able to let you go!” It was a confession wrenched from his sealed lips, the situation that he’d imagined a thousand times since he’d sent you away-- the only thing that reassured him that he’d made the right choice. He nearly winced as he saw the hurt cross your expression. 

“And this is so much better?”  You asked, your eyes dropping to the gleaming blue waters. “We’re both so happy?” 

“No,” it was easier to tell the truth now, “we’re miserable.” He crossed the short distance between you with little hesitation, and gingerly wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into an embrace. “I’m sorry,” he murmured into your hair, his eyes squeezed closed, reminding himself to savor this moment, the last moment he had you in his arms. “For everything.” 

You enjoyed the moment more than you cared to admit, and allowed your arms to wind around his waist, resting your forehead against his chest. “What now? Will you go home, and tell Pete I miss him?” The words were painful to say, but it was clear that this was the last hurrah-- the last embers of a dying fire. 

God, he was so selfish. “I want you to come with me,” he admitted. “I want you to come home." He withdrew, his hands lingering on your biceps, reading your expression. “Peter misses you,” and then, more quietly, “I miss you.” 

You were silent, peering up at him with those shining eyes. 

He touched your cheek, and smiled-- though it was hollow and cracked. “I love you.” He offered, his chest swelling at the admission he’d been thinking for the past five months. “I want you.” His index finger hooked below your chin, tilting your face up, and laying a kiss on your lips. 

It was soft, and sweet, and it carried the weight of months apart. It was everything you’d wanted. So much wasted time. You melted into the embrace, hands sliding up the plains of his chest, and looping around his neck to pull him closer. 

His hands slid lower, past your waist, and effortlessly lifted you off your feet-- lips still attached to yours. His breathing was heavy now, and he carried you to the edge of the pool, depositing you on the stone ledge. His skin had flushed a lovely shade of scarlet, and he was panting as his eyes darkened. “Can I...”

“Yes,” you interrupted, “please, God, yes.”

hey!! could you tell me how you did to make your fics gain more readers? i just made a new tumblr and i want to start posting my oneshots too but i need to grow my acc first and i don't know how i love your writing 💜

oh hi thank you so much for loving my writing, that's so sweet and encouraging! ❣️ so a lottt of finding an audience on here depends on luck, especially with tumblr being so glitchy with tagging lately, but there are a few things you can do to try and find more readers - one is to use hashtags, even though the tagging system is glitchy/imperfect it can help ur work get to new people who have never seen ur blog. i recommend finding popular fics for the member ur writing for and using a similar list of hashtags to what they use, or just whatever else is relevant to ur fic like "#bts college au" or "#dom jungkook". also this is embarrassing bc i was prob the only one who didn't know this HAHA but when i first posted a fic (ch 1 of anti-hero) i used all the tags but it got 0 notes for like, hours so i was disappointed at first but then i found out u need to go in to the "visibility" tab of ur blog settings and make sure both of these are switched OFF:

so i took it down and reposted with the same tags and immediately got more notes lololol.

also, make sure ur description and banner look professional (and if ur using a header gif, make sure the creator allows reposts and give credit, or make ur own) and ur summary is engaging to draw readers in if they see ur fic on their dash!

beyond those basics, i really recommend joining author networks to meet other authors and get a new audience for your work from the network page as well as any new friends u make in the network! a great way to find networks is to check the page of more established authors u love and see which networks they're part of, then apply! and i almost don't like saying this as advice for this ask bc i reach out just to give feedback and make friends, not to try and get more readers for my own work, but a great way to get to know more authors and hype up each other's work is to just send them a comment, an ask, or reblog their fics with feedback about why u love them! i guarantee u all authors appreciate this so much (just like u sending me this ask! made me smile) and i've met such sweet people from commenting on their fics or from them commenting on mine, and it's just a nice thing to do 🥰 the more interactive u are, the more likely u are to find mutuals who u both love and support each other's work! i've honestly been pretty ia lately and not been responding to much (sorry 😅) bc im so busy rn but just try to put out good energy and u will hopefully get it back. honestly, ik it can be discouraging not to have a large audience or get a lot of notes/feedback but the #1 advice i have is to try not to depend on the online validation and go in with zero expectations, that way you'll always be pleasantly surprised! i'm so happy and grateful for every note i get and having a chill attitude towards writing vs intentionally trying to grow an audience/platform helps so much to keep it fun and avoid burnout. i'm sorry this ended up so long haha, hope it was helpful and lmk when u end up posting ur writing bc i'd love to read it! ❣️

i (and i’m hoping everyone else too?) have no idea whom i actually wrote my fic for! so, once you post your fic and the person whom you’ve written for has posted theirs as well, i will reblog your post, check my list and tag whomever you have written for. and vice versa, etc. there will be some penalisation on getting tagged on the fic written for you based on timing as you’ll see below.

I was kinda having a bad night list night tbh. And then seeing that old fanart reminded me of the good old days when I first started posting and it seemed like people were reading it in droves. There were people giving me full commentaries and just about every time I turned around there was art of Midge I was tagged in or in my submissions.

I know I should be grateful. And I am! I am extremely grateful. Some fic writers don't even get any of that. And now we have to worry about assholes ruining our day and trying to run us out of the fucking fandom all together. But...I miss it, you know? I miss having my inbox full and having people telling me stuff like "I didn't like OCs in fics but yours changed my mind" Instead of joining a new Discord only to leave two days later when I see a couple of people discussing how much they hate fics with OCs and wish people would stop writing them. (By the way? That's rude. Don't do that. Also hate to break it to you but every fucking piece of media started out with someone's OC. Technically those characters are the creators OCs that you gave a chance to. Get off your pedestal.)

Like I said, last night kind of turned into a bad night. Something happened that really hurt my feelings and then being reminded of a time where I thought things were better, comparing it to now, it was just really disheartening and I kinda wanted to crawl in a hole and never come out.

Anyways I'm done rambling! Thank you for reaching out to me and being so sweet. I'm glad you enjoy my not so little story and that you actually wanna see more of it, and I'm very flattered that you decided to subscribe to me even though my content is few and far between. Thank you so much.

Another FroodPad Update

For anyone who used the original FroodPad (PiratenPad) teamsite for fic writing, the host is taking down the site next month.

As before with the Mozilla alternative, I have backups of most of the text.

Here’s what I do not have:

Time slider histories

If you want any of those, you’ll need to grab them yourself asap! If you’ve forgotten a password, the quickest way to grab my attention is to let me know via the tumblr messager (or my Discord, if you have it) and I can help you.

As for the actual text of the pads, I have these saved! I can send them to you whenever you like. Under the cut is a VERY lengthy list of the pad titles I have backups of. I can also do a text search if you need.
