Marigold will start to grow plants using her powers destroying obstacles along the way. The obstacles that get destroyed will turn into flower jellies for Marigold to collect. Once she grows up to 4 plants Marigold will let her power burst out causing all obstacles in the screen to turn into flower jellies.

Fragile as a flower and timid as a mouse, Marigold cookie sells flowers the best she can in her small flower shop located in Parfaedia. Everyone was afraid of her first due to her powers but with the help of her friends and new family her flowers are now popular among the magic city’s citizens. Kind to everyone and always trying her best Marigold works hard to make her customers happy. Although her powers can be dangerous when she’s feeling bad, everyone can’t help but smile when they see flowers bloom in her hair and around her when she’s happy.

In front of her, from a window. So yeah. EXTREMELY TRAUMATIC PAST. did I also say her family was a cult that praised DE and brainwashed her?

-Her powers were from millennial tree cookie. She only started to used them when was a teen and when she did things got worst for her.

-She met Almond when she was in the middle of a mental breakdown causing life to wither away around her shop and vines to grow all over inside her shop (And also Almond was the first person ever to hug her-)

-Every time she’s happy flowers would bloom a bit around her. When she’s with Almond flowers would bloom around her AND on her head.

Hey, so I'd like to start off this by saying that I'm very certain that I'm straight.

But.

I find most of your comics very relatable, especially the ones where you struggle to understand how people try to put romance/sex everywhere and make it the central part of their lives.

Like, I've had conversations with my friends who seem to think that not finding a romantic partner is some sort of personal failure or a life not worth living.

And like, i get the appeal of romance and sex. It's there for me too, but. There's also video games and books and food and cats and looking at the stars. Why spend so much time and effort on this 1 thing?

One guy i know even said to me that he's only pretending to be friends with girls if he thinks it increases his chance of finding a girlfriend. Like, he's given up on being friends with half the population just for that?! I can't understand that at all.

Sorry if i ranted for too long, but do you have any idea why im like this or they are like that, it's really been bugging me recently.

I've got guy friends, most of which are very supportive of my queerplatonic partner and I, and have been supportive of me being asexual before that. But yeah, I honestly don't get the whole idea of why it's portrayed as so freaking crucial to the human experience as if it were an obligation. There could be many reasons. On the one hand, I guess being romantically or sexually excited brings in levels of dopamine that act pretty quick and hard and that might be why people latch on to it – my bad if I misunderstand that, I'm definitely not a sciency person, and I don't understand those appeals at all as an aro-ace, so I might be totally wrong about this. On the other hand, there might be a result of deep-rooted societal and traditionalist constructs of "people must get paired and make lots of equally traditional babies". Though not everyone agrees with traditionalist principles, and yet a lot of people will hyperfixate on those ideas of love and sex as ultimate single ideas anyway. So I'm not sure. I'm one of the least well positioned people to get it, really TwT But it's always a big reassurance when other people of any orientation take a look at the situation and are like "that's not all there is". I truly appreciate it.

I think that anyone on twt these past couple of days would say it’s a toxic nightmare.

Kths & Jjk’s are fighting to the death & it’s such a shame - ofc anyone that loves Tae is so sad at the sabotage he has faced & also that the majority of the fandom has moved on so quickly to 3D.

It’s up to us to keep streaming & try to achieve what we can for that gorgeous, talented man.

But that’s not Jungkook’s fault- he wants to get his work out on the world stage & ofc he’s going to take advantage of the huge push he’s getting from Hybe - why wouldn’t he?

Jungkook is hugely marketable & he’s said he wants to be a huge pop star - he’s already taken off like a rocket & I fully expect him to have more bb #1 & probably a Grammy at some point.

During Layover, it became extremely obvious that the majority of Taekookers are Jk bias - numbers don’t lie & Tae, while he’s done so well, could have done so much better.

And now, large numbers of Taekookers are stopping being Taekookers.

But from what I’ve seen, it’s not because they blame Jungkook for Tae’s lack of promotion etc. That’s down to Hybe & no one else.

So, this seems to be a hot topic again after Jk's short live. And I kinda get it.. maybe... but I also don't.

The thing that I get is that people are obviously confused about the total lack of Jk doing anything concerning Tae's debut. I also expected him to do something, nothing big, but something... and he didn't. So I get the disappointed and confused part a bit.

What I don't get is the negative conclusions around it. If anything Tae and Jk have been showing us their closeness this year. You think they broke up... but when would that have been? The Dream premiere was very clear, them at Yoongi's show together was all good, Tae supporting Jk at Inkigayo.. all good. So I absolutely don't think they broke up inbetween somewhere. I also don't think Jk doesn't care for Tae.. even if they are only friends... they are obviously very close and Jk loves Tae a lot. I also don't think Jk is selfish and their relationship is onesided/lopsided. Tae himself said Jk will do whatever he asks almost. If you look at Tae and Jk's interactions... Jk loves Tae just as much as Tae loves him. Which bring me to Tae's behavior. Nothing in Tae's character or behavior makes me think he would let Jk use him or let him walk over him like that. Basically... I just have trust in their characters I think. I think they genuinely love each other.

SO what could be the reason for Jk not doing something? I think the clue may lie in his recent live. He was clearly talking pr-strategy when he mentioned not having done a live to make anticipation stronger. He might have also been advised again anything Tae. I know I'm gonna get shit for this, but my reason for thinking so is that Jk not posting anything Tae also doesn't make sense if you think of them as only members or friends.

I know some make this out to be that Jk doesn't want to encourage Tkkrs. If Tae and Jk aren't together as we think and are just close friends... Tkkrs won't be much of a factor in Jk's decisions. Tae as a friend would matter way more to him than a bunch of shippers being wrong.

I don't know what the deal is exactly, but I am quite sure it isn't that Jk doesn't support or love Tae.

RE: Plagiarism

This post was the only way I knew how to approach this subject in the best way I could to clear my name. I feel as though if I stay silent I’m complicit, but this entire post is the utmost truth I can offer and I hope you’ll choose to believe me. 

First off, I won’t be mentioning the author, and this will not contain screenshots. 

I have been extremely nervous as of late…my stomach in literal knots, and have had anxiety attacks due to this. I deactivated twitter, again.

And I’m most of all, very disheartened and upset.

I’m being accused of purposefully plagiarizing fics and deliberately doing so. Also, of  “mimicking an author’s voice”—which I’m still not entirely sure what it means, per say? 

There was one instance, that was brought to my attention last month by said author, in my jacegan drabble (that was written back in February which is now deleted since pointed out to me) where, yes, I did unknowingly draw quite a bit of inspiration from her fic and used the ‘your grace, my jace’ line, with a similar scene, but I didn’t do that with evil intentions or even mean to do so. (I literally wrote that fic on the werdsmith app on my phone while making/eating breakfast one morning.)

A snippet I had posted in June of my migwen fic om twt was another one this author had issue with…saying I had used similar wording in this specific chapter. I had read this fic up to this exact chapter back in April and couldn’t even recall it…but finally did reread it, twice, and found zero similarities between this specific chapter and my migwen drabble. (this chap had a literal blowjob scene, which my migwen didn’t even have in it) 

As far as ‘mimicking this person’s voice’ in all my works? I have plenty of moots who read my fics—and this author’s—say they can’t see what this person means by it, and that we have very different tones/voices. I found this accusation particularly pretentious (and did express it to the author). It confuses me and upsets me…and truly, it still does.

And, of course, yes, I've drawn inspiration from fellow creators. We all have. We’re all continuing to inspire each other during the hotd hiatus…whether that be through tweeting, discords, dms, random thoughts…I cannot tell you how many countless times I’ve come across exact hive-minds with fellow creators where we have the exact same thoughts for different AUs or fic ideas. like it’s literally crazy. We also love to connect our other favorite films, etc to the current OTPs we have.

I am someone who has been in fandom for many years. I have friends in different fandoms from 14 years ago, that I am still moots with. I’m an honest and genuine person—albeit a little weird and freaky. But what you see is what you get with me. 

I’m the kinky buffering hornball gemini.

Even though I just started publishing fic back in December for the first time, I have read smutty explicit fics since I was in highschool. 

I myself am also a very sexual person, so I tap into that when writing my ‘ungodly smut’ as someone put it, recently. 

I DO NOT have fics open that I am copying and literally pasting from and onto my word doc. I do not literally “lift lines” from any of my fellow writers, for any of my fics. 

There is absolutely no way I can plagiarize 4-8K of fic. This is what baffles me the most. 

The thing is, my writing has improved in the last six months because I AM writing and using that creative part of my brain that I’ve tapped into. 

I am not dishonestly stealing other people’s hard written fanfics.

Why would I do that? After MONTHS of befriending others in the hotd fandom and discords? If I wanted to gain “clout” or “importance” in this fandom, purposefully plagiarizing or stealing from others IS NOT the way to do so. 

(I would know this, because I have been soft blocked or blocked by many over the last month. And it has fucking sucked.) 

I'm a person who continually has supported my fellow moots by reading and commenting on most of their fics. I would even do reaction threads for certain author’s fics, would post screenshots of favorite parts, and post them to tweet in a thread freaking out about how much I loved them—which I now feel like anyone who thinks this, thinks I’m going to use and copy their words, which I have not and will not ever do, intentionally. 

I truly apologize if you’re someone who thinks I am “maliciously” plagiarizing your work, but I can promise you I am not and never have meant to do so, purposefully.

I appreciate if you took the time to read this…I don’t know if anyone believes me, but this has been a heavy fucking burden weighing me down and making me want to delete my entire online existence. And I had to get this off my chest. Thank you again for reading.

At the start he seemed very distant and closed off. He had a very lonely life. It was heartbreaking to see him live life devoid of any real emotion. He came from a very wealthy and influential family so many people approached him with ulterior motives; eyeing his money, lusting over his looks, reaching towards him in order to experience his lavish fame. He learned to distrust and distance himself from them.

Just talking about it makes me feel so upset for him. Because I can understand that feeling of being used and taken advantage of. The resentment, the anger, the distrust, the disappointment, the distance..the loneliness and tendencies to withdraw to isolation in our quiet safespace [with a pet (his case) or f/o [my case)]. But I also have the love and support of my family!

But once he warmed up to me, realizing how kind my heart was (aaaa, I feel embarrassed just saying this >x<); he became more open, warm, considerate, romantic and he has such silly humor! It’s adorable! He is also clumsy with his camera, always taking blurry photos. Hehe, a cutie indeed ! x)

But he had a hard life. Despite having all the money he could ever want, he never felt real love at his own home. His biological parents married for convenience and had a cold relationship, which then ended prematurely. His second wife married him for money and had predatory tendencies towards the young, beautiful Juju.

It was subtle but it really bothered me. I..was sexually abused myself so..it’s a sensitive subject to me. From then on, his father kept switching from one wife and girlfriend to another like a kid switches toys. His father was so focused on his job and his girlfriends that he didn’t pay enough attention to Juju, despite gifting him presents every now and then, to show that he cared.

Juju though….once we got together he became super sweet, but also quite erratic, possessive and anxious. He never found love before meeting me so he was really scared he might lose me, was worried for my safety and didn’t want me to be taken by anyone else. It was precious and I loved how passionate he was, I loved being spoiled romantically by JujuBear’s love, I was drunkenly in love with our mutual honeymoon sweetness for each other and it was such bliss TwT!

We were together on and off for 6 years and now, I felt nostalgic and started playing his route again. I miss the blissful love I felt when I was with him. Maybe I’m self centered but I just..want to be in love with someone who’d truly adore, support, love and appreciate me. Someone who’d protect and spoil me. Someone who would do anything to make me happy. And that was what JujuBear was to me! (I had some very painful and toxic relationships in the past and I suffer from scars, ptsd, depressive episodes and such..)

But what’s great about me is that I’m always very optimistic and hopeful! Looking towards the near future with bright eyes <3! and appreciating the little things in life. Hopefully I’ll be able to be drunkenly in love with life again, filled with glowing bliss and glee. Without the guy who keeps manipulating me and abusing me in my mind since the time I was r*ped by him, gaslit, then shamed and guilted for my behavior that led to him r*ping me.

maybe it's because i mostly feel annoyed at jk now, but i find him doing a wlive naked...cringe and over the top. for sure others enjoyed it and drooled after him, but i saw the clips and i was like 'yeah go all out to support your cool fratboy image'. yeah hes just chilling in his bed, but he's been doing those kinds of thirst-trap lives even before seven was released, and i believe he's doing that because of his image rebranding. drinking and passing gas while on live, sleeping with a candle lit (very irresponsible); sleeping in his bed but in y/n pov. those are intended for him to look 'cool' and like a cant-be-bothered, seductive man (uhm, eww). it's the same with the recent wlive, and he's going all out. i feel like he's trying too hard.

The live is also interesting because he gets to do two things at once: to continue the y/n agenda and to show how tight his bond with jimin still is (congrats jikook shippers, y'all have a new reason to use to ignore everything else). dont get me wrong jimin and jk have always had the silly and flirty dynamic, which is why they have die-hard shippers in the first place. we've seen it and they are just showing it there.

what makes me raise my eyebrows though is the timing. those hashtags have been trending in twt before that wlive and him going on live later on is a bit sus. even if he doesn't look at the trends, there are people (staff, friends, members) who could've informed him abt it, which may have prompted him to go live. it's not impossible at all. it could distract people and pacify things a little bit, and i guess it's working.

make it what you will but JK's actions are more sus now considering all that's happened. i mean what's the better way to pacify people? please them and show that everything is fine.

jimin responding to him on live doesn't really surprise me. it could be that he has time so he commented. it's not out of character for him, but may also be a way, again, to pacify things. i mean those tags are about him and it's his fans (& some armys) trending it after all. maybe he wants to do something about it. im not blaming jimin at all, i honestly think it's smart.

you can also look at this in a fanservice aspect (for both of them) because admit it or not, it has always been there. BTS doesn't necessarily need to do it because they're famous now and truly have good bonds, but they still engage in it from time to time to pacify fans and maintain their image. jikook interacting in the live can be them genuinely being good friends while also using the chance to ease things a little bit. it doesn't mean that they're being forced to do things though, but that they're doing it on their accord to at least control the situation.

unfortunately, the live can only distract people for so long. questions and outrage will continue because of the company's continuous inaction and shady behavior toward jimin. it won't ever be enough.

sorry for the long ask, but given all that has happened, i can't avoid second-guessing everything that jk does now. i can't stop speculating on some things.

i can be wrong about some things of course, but the live did not squash my displeasure for the company and jk's involvement in everything. he and jimin may be fine with each other, but that does not excuse all that has been happening.

Not all of their moves has to be so calculated. Nobody thinks THAT much.

Assuming that jungkook or anyone has such calculated thoughts like that before doing the most mundane thing is not realistic to me.

Also for the shirtless thing. Yeah it could be cringe. I've said this before he's trying too hard to be cool. But then again it's none of our business. It's his body at the end of the day. He can show it off if he wants to.

For people who are attracted to him, it's like heaven right now. People who are not attracted to him just don't care.

I think we shouldn't say stuff like that. It's like people telling girls to wear decent clothing because if they wear short clothes then they're attention seeker and I'm strongly against it. Memories of 2020 - Initial asks and a small discussion

If any of you have spent any amount of time today on any ARMY sns platform, I’m sure you’ve seen the mess which, as seasoned ARMY, I can tell you was the exact same mess we see...every single time. I can’t particularly say I’m surprised by any of it, especially when watching the entire process, as in the first clips hitting the TL and then the rest slowly following suit like a flood building steadily as the hours went by.

I’m pleased to report it wasn’t actually as bad as I expected, though now that I’m typing this I probably jinxed my own luck and the flood of asks will come soon enough, but maybe not. I’m holding on to the latter.

Based on the cycle in which these things happen every time, as in that the first clips that hit the ARMY spaces are Xkook ones, followed by vmin and other ships, and lastly more OT7 content, I expected our asks to go haywire after that clip, you know which one I mean. But we’ve only gotten two (?) about it, kind of, so I guess most people understood that it was just for laughs and nothing serious that anyone would have to get insecure over.

From anon: Sigh. This is my first memories of bts as army and i'm already tired of how all of twitter seems to be about 1 j*/k*ok moment now. There were so many j*n/kook m*ments and hugs and a sweet h*pe/k*ok backhug moment and a good number of vmin moments including slow dancing so why is the focus always on that one ship?

Here’s the thing, maybe my TLs are just well curated, I don’t know, but on mine no one really focused on that moment? Even non-shipper OT7s just briefly had a chuckle and then moved along to other things, awww’ed at vmin moments, there was lots and lots of talk about J*nk*ok being super cute and there being so much content when it comes to their interactions, there was a lot of chatter about basically every duo and OT7 moment. I know ship specific spaces went nuts, Xkookers butting heads like their lives depend on it, but outside of them?

“All of twt” is an exaggeration and I know, believe me I do, that Xkookers have the ability to make it seem like everyone just cares about their moments because they themselves (the shippers) are loud and seemingly everywhere, but when you look past them, that isn’t the case. Shippers have a tendency to generalize, especially those who follow a lot of their fellow shippers, but when you step outside of shipper spaces, things look very differently.

Like anon said, though I’d like to preface this by saying that I haven’t seen the entirety of Memories of 2020 so I can only go by what I have seen though I’d say I’ve seen nearly everything that was posted on twt or at least as much as I could find (including Xkook things), there were a lot, and I mean a lot, of amazing moments between basically all the members, regardless of who your favorite duo might be, I’m sure there was something for you there. Even those who are supposedly a rarity. And even as vminnies, this time around we had a feast with so many amazing vmin moments, some funny ones, some random ones, some super cute ones, whatever you want, there is something there for you to find. And the same can be said about so many other duos, we even got Yoongi and Hobi FaceTiming each other, and Yoongi saying they look like a couple while looking at the pictures Hobi chose for the coffee truck he sent to Yoongi’s Daechwita MV filming set.

There’s one discussion I’d like to get out of the way below the cut, but after that I will have another post very, very soon in which I want us to just have some fun and look at vmin, namjin and the other moments because there is just so much to find. And this is just day one of people having the DVDs, these discussion will continue for a while because, like I mentioned before, Memories are a treasure trove for OT7 content and fun stuff, and there’s more than eleven hours worth of it to be watched, discovered and discussed.

But, okay, let’s get into that moment since anons wanted to talk about it and know my thoughts on it, so let’s do just that. And yes, other anon from a while ago, I remember you once mentioning how I shouldn’t talk about other ships and shouldn’t “debunk” them and their moments, though I’d hardly call this debunking, but as I said many times since our first post, I’m ARMY before I am a vminnie and namjinist, and our blog is called thoughts on Bangtan and, as far as I’m aware, both JK and Jimin are part of Bangtan, so I don’t see a reason why I can’t show my perspective on it and also voice my grievances with shippers when it comes to that moment. And, before anyone comes into our asks to yell at me for being toxic/problematic or only doing this to make my ship look better or whatever, no, that isn’t the point, like at all. 

“Debunking” moments makes literally no difference whatsoever in the grand scheme of things and doesn’t affect reality, all I am doing is having a chat just like everyone else. I’m not even asking you to agree with me, you’re more than welcome not to, I can’t and won’t stop you. Also, just so you know, my initial reaction was just to laugh amused by it, no hard feelings, so I’m not the bad guy.

That being said...the Xkook moment.

Here’s the thing, when it first surfaced many hours ago, the moment itself was cut down to show just the moment of Jimin leaning close to JK and JK leaning back and turning his head away so his cheek faced Jimin...and cut, some even cutting off the video before JK turned his head. That’s it. People, as in shippers, freaked out, and everyone else had a good laugh and moved along to other things, even vminnies were joking about it and everything. I saw none of my fellow vminnies getting angry or insecure about it. Then, as time went by, someone else posted that scene but this time also showing the things leading up to it, so putting it into context instead of removing it. With the context suddenly the whole thing looked and felt completely differently since moments prior Jimin was pretending to stab JK with the pointy end of his mic and then acted as though to check if he was d*ad, as in the end of the scene. Turns out it was just for giggles and not some grand romantic moment in a room full of people and a camera close to their faces.

By that time, of course, those who cared most about that moment had long decided what meaning this holds and didn’t care once context was shown. Gifs and art had already been created, the yelling was loud, and the fights between Xkookers were reaching levels of toxicity I hadn’t seen in a while, which was disgusting and fucked up the say the least. But, the thing is, I don’t think the moment itself was the issue. In context and as rational ARMY you know it was just Jimin playing around with JK as they usually do, things we’ve also seen other members do in similar (though not quite like this) fashion, and after eight years since debut and nine of knowing each other, this isn’t shocking or new in any way. No, the issue were Xkookers and the way they treated this moment, some even going as far as taking screenshots and editing them to make it seem like they were about to kiss, as in they changed the placements of their heads to fit their narrative, as well as others making gifs where they play the moment backwards (leaving out the part where JK leans his head away and to the side) and thus they created their own version of the moment which was different from what had actually happened.

That is my biggest issue with this whole thing. The blatant manipulation of moments to create narratives that don’t match reality, twisting them and using them in stupid pointless fights. But imagine vminnies were to do any of that, all hell would break loose and we’d be attacked without mercy because how dare, and yet they don’t follow their own “logic” and “rules”. It’s more than okay to find any and all moments cute, we all do, to make jokes and whatnot, but twisting context, manipulating it and basically creating your own version of it goes too far. 

Take what we are given as what it is, instead of what you want it to be.

So, now that that’s done, please fellow vminnies and ARMYs, don’t be insecure or let people ruin your mood and fun over it. It’s not worth it. Instead let’s check out and have a talk about some of the fun vmin and OT7 moments we got, along with other ones, including my reply to another anon when it comes to namjin. Of course what I will mention in the post (HERE) is basically just the tip of the iceberg since tumblr has a limit on pictures and everything, so just know there is so much more still left to see than just that.

Hey there anon!, I deeply understand your emotions. The hate that JM is going through is really bad and I have personally reported those accounts on twt etc. I even took a few snapshots of a tiktok video comment section... I will surely share them some day or another. Well then lets get started! 2. Loving member

Jimin is the member that I connect emotionally to, he's a sentimental person but he just doesn't show it you just have to pay attention on his behaviour and actions. He consoles many of the members and he provides comfort for them. The picture I attached below sets a great example.

1. BTS MAMA 2018... It was a tough year for them. They were close to disbanding, and the members were emotionally drained. My heart sank when I saw hobi breaking down in front of the crowd, you can find tons of fancams but you should take a close look at Jimin. He handled the situation very well and I love the way he gives his subtle touch of love towards the other members.

2. Taehyung grandma death announcement

I don't think that I need to explain the about the situation. Taehyung was really sad and felt guilty as he couldn't mention his grandma name. He broke down and Jimin immediately noticed him and ran towards him and just gave him little pat/huggie.

Even by looking at the picture you can see the comfort. You know that GCF-TOKYO song “there for you’ which implies that Jk means he will be there for jimin but "you gotta be there for me too” which means jimin gotta be there for him too. So yeah, JM just know jungkook well and he comforts Jk pretty well.It was so cute and i wished i was a part of the audience, i would have had a panic attack looking at them being so cute,fluff,intimate ON STAGE . After Namjoon Jimin has the most remarkable academic achievements in bts. He was one of the top students in junior high and was THE top student in Busan arts high school from ALL the departments. Fun fact Jimin IQ is 128! He was valedictorian too.

I know that the dance class has about 40 students? And male students could be 25:15 or 30:10. Jimin broke through this and became the top.

Namjoon and Jimin really made a huge gamble. They could've went the easier way. Truthfully, if they went their way, they both would have succeeded. But becoming an idol and not knowing what their future will be and BTS not being successful from the beginning must have been really hard for them. But now I'm glad they're successful and they can realize they've made the right choice."

I really respect and idolize him. His personality is unique and its different.He's been through alot. Being kicked from BTS for 8+ times, the members ranking his looks as the last and being called fat and ugly, that's really disturbing. He starved and went on diets just to please the audience and to have a jawline. He works his ass of and he really deserves more. He's obviously cutie,sexy,lovely,sweet guy! He prioritize his career, family and fans before anything. He has absolute heavenly vocals (+crazyyy high notes) and he is the definition of stage presence. PARK JIMIN IS THE STANDARD. okay so relating to how u answered ur last ask.. i’ve noticed that sam and yu.... especially sam seems to have really embodied shi de. like, he’s really digested shi de as a character and it shows whenever he answers questions on lives. he refers to himself as shi de at some points (so does yu but i’ve noticed it more from sam) which is interesting because it could be the first time i’ve seen it to this extent. gotta give props to sam’s method acting (at least it seems to be the approach he takes what with really committing to being drunk and all) because its really not easy to immerse yourself so fully into a character. kind of unrelated but if you want to see a darker take on method acting i recommend watching the korean movie Method. also unrelated but something i think about a lot bc this is really cute.... in some live sam and yu were doing sam was talking about how lucky he was to have this support and opportunity and have all these nice people working with him and he was deadass getting misty eyed and emotional it was kinda adorable meanwhile yu looked so endeared. honestly what a mood. 😂 he’s very adorable and at first i was just really surprised at how completely different to shi de he was (duh its acting but still sam is like a big dog who doesn’t know he’s not a puppy anymore lmao)

Sam referring to himself as Gao Shi De isn't surprising tbh... ive seen a couple of actors do that but Sam made it his personal mission to make sure that we, the audience, can truly understand what it's like to be in an unrequited love for 10+ yrs (he said this in a couple of interviews, i can't find the links, sorry). he put a LOT of thoughts into his character... if u watch their hotpot IG live, there's a portion where he explained Gao Shi De's mindset in depth.

en fait, SamYu's valentine's day IG live was what REALLY spurred me on to write my SamYu fic... (i mean Yu kneeling on a pillow by Sam's feet put naughty thoughts in my head but i didn't really wanna write anything until Sam randomly said 'I love you' to Yu, UNPROMPTED)

as u've said, Sam is extremely invested in Gao Shi De. this is literally the first time he's this invested in a character (at least the first time i see him this invested)... and, like, Sam has always been a bit of a quiet person most of the time (esp when he’s in a ‘crowd’ he’s usually only a crackhead around ppl he’s ‘close with’) but, before S2EP2 aired, i got the sense that he was very withdrawn... as if he was worried about the reception of S2EP2 (my man lost 10kg out of stress okay asfghjkldi) i'd be worried too... it's such a controversial scène but it's also pivotal to his character & speak of who Gao Shi De is. and i gotta say... that scene would be the scene of Sam’s career. Yu’s career too... like, wow,,, wtf, why did they have to go so hard???

that IG live literally had me asking 'where does Sam end and Shi De begin?' and it's a concept i toy around in my fic.

i think, Sam’s immersion in his role as Gao Shi De is due to pressure & encouragement from the director... like, director Ray Jiang put quite a lot of pressure on Sam when it came to portraying Gao Shi De & even expect him to take the lead amongst the younger actors as he’s the most experience from the lot... but i believe that it’s that kind of environment that provided Sam with the ‘right’ mindset & encouragement to play Gao Shi De so well.

Sam's passion for Gao Shi De is énorme... unimaginable. and, in WBL's first clubhouse broadcast, when asked if he's out of character yet, Sam instead replied that 'Gao Shi De's character is life changing and he will always remember this character'.  (fun fact: Luo Luo said he's not out of character yet while Chihtian said it’s hard to answer) (twt translation thread) (random observation but i feel like Ray Chang’s literally the only person in the entire cast who’s already gotten out of his character lol )

as for Yu, this is his first drama and he's the fckn lead... the role was basically 'written' for him... like, in an IG live/FB live, the executive producer, Qiao-jie, said that they discovered Yu's song 'aqua blue lover' as they were writing the swimming pool scene and thought that it fit with the series. they immediately wanted him to audition... the team only heard his song saw saw pictures from his album jacket... not even his MV! they haven't even seen his acting and didn't even know if he spoke Chinese!! and bcs of Yu, Shu Yi became half-japanese! 

he felt a lot of pressure to play Shu Yi well and even cried at their wrap-up party (Ray & Chihtian said this during first IG live)

do you still take asks? if so, could you explain tanjirou's hanafuda earings? i've seen some people online (like insta and other such places) claim that the design is one of a flower, but i always thought it was of a sun since it was supposed to be like a token for the sun god or something (disregarding possible [and hopefully unintentional] symbolisms coming from ww2)

whenever these people say these, they go back on to the earings being called hanafuda cards, and that hana means flower. i'm not that smart when it comes to japanese things or hanafuda cards specifically, so if you could, can you explain the hanafuda cards and the design on tanjirou's earings?

Hahaha.... my attempted answer to this met so many technical difficulties, this is my third version, I think, hahahaaaaaa. TwT We shall indeed endeavor to keep this related to the original Sengoku period design of the earrings and their relation to Hanafuda cards, though indeed this is a Heisei/Reiwa period production and it's unavoidable that the similarity would be read in a post-WW2 context. It's not that I don't have things I could say on that, but I prefer not to go in that direction either (and people who choose to use the alternate design have my support). Short answer, though: nope, not a flower design!

The sun symbolism and its representation of Japan supersedes Muzan’s birth by at least a few centuries, and in its earliest uses with a simple circle to represent it, it wasn’t even always defined by the color red. The bright color red has been, however, long since symbolic of the sun, so it’s unsurprising that at some point the two symbols came together. No one knows who to credit for its design as a symbol to represent the emperor, but it seems this started in the Sengoku period, same time Yoriichi and his mother Akeno were around in the 15th, 16th centuries or so (but hard to say). The imperial use is due to the Shinto mythology that the emperor is descended from the sun goddess, Amaterasu. (I’ve have heard some KnY theorists posit that certain characters represent different gods in the Shinto pantheon and that Yoriichi represents Amaterasu (who indeed has historical male representations), but I don’t buy into those theories.)

While’s it’s not to say Amaterasu couldn’t be beseeched for healing a deaf child, she doesn’t strike me as the first goddess you’d go to for help with that, so I had originally suspected Akeno might have been more of a practicing Buddhist seeking the help of Dainichi-nyorai (the Buddha that represents the sun, if we put it very simply), or that she might had been a follower of the Nichiren sect, which embraced syncretism with Shintoism and used the “Nichi” (sun) symbolism pretty heavy-handedly (that sect tended to encourage a devout following of women, too). That’s as far as I find relevant to read into this side of things, though, for a look at Akeno’s altar shows us a round mirror often used in Shinto worship (some scholars suspect the round shape represents the sun, too, but it’s not at all limited to being a sacred item to represent sun-related deities). However, religion is and always has been complicated, and Akeno may have been a follower of any pure or blended strain of Shintoism and/or Buddhism.

Tl;dr: Akeno has a profound faith in some kind of sun deity.

After all, Yoriichi says this very plainly on this page in Chapter 186, “My mother was a person of very deep faith.” In addition to her daily prayers for peace, she made the earrings for Yoriichi praying that the “god of sunlight” may shine on and warm his unhearing ears. We have no further definition of this “god of sunlight,” so it could be Amaterasu, Dainichi-nyorai, any possible unnamed sunlight god she might have had faith in (Gotouge tends to borrow heavily from a lot of different religious traditions without narrowing them too far into any particular sect or strain). We may not be meant to read this in such detailed historical context as Amaterasu because it is left so ambiguous, but the art representing the sun is pretty ubiquitous throughout Japanese culture by that period.

And would you look at that, little Michikatsu and Yoriichi were playing a card game! Hmm, I wonder what? While I cannot claim anything one way or another about how Gotouge and her editors saw it or what they may think of it being seen that way abroad, the rays inevitably make it seem similar to the 16-ray naval flag, and the earlier color illustrations did have red lines. However, at some point the design settled into using 11 thin black lines only, with an emphasis in Gotouge’s character design notes (from the first fanbook) on the pooling thickness at the ends of the lines. This feels to me a bit like inky brushstrokes, and there is also design emphasis on the thick lines at the tops and bottoms of the earrings. These details, as well as the notes (cropped out of the image below) about the movement and weight of the earrings around Tanjiro’s face make them seem to have the thickness of light cardboard, which altogether makes them very similar to Hanafuda cards. Most specifically, doesn’t it look like this card featuring pampas grass and the moon?

While Hanafuda does literally mean “flower cards” and there are designs grouped around certain themes (even if the theme itself isn’t a flower, the design will typically incorporate a plant), I feel fairly confident saying the design of Yoriichi’s earrings is not a flower, and indeed the sun.

Primarily because these earrings aren’t Hanafuda cards! Hanafuda technically didn’t exist until after Yoriichi’s time, and was adapted from a Portuguese card game. Said game was initially illegalized at the same time Christianity was illegalized, but the Edo public loved their card games, and reinvented it every time some previous version was outlawed for its use in gambling. Even today, there are many, many different versions or reiterations of Hanafuda under the same or different names. I have never played though, and will not attempt to explain it. ^0^;; (I have cousins who grew up playing the Hawaiian version, though.) It was finally legalized in the Meiji period, and the first fanbook even lists this as one of Zenitsu’s favorite games.

While my research didn’t take me this far, I’m willing to bet card games with similar illustrations existed far prior to Hanafuda, and whether or not Akeno would had been influenced by them is anyone’s guess. But as she made them as religious items, that still makes them not game cards. I do assume she used high quality washi paper though, the finest she could afford as the wife of a high-ranking samurai. Good washi is strong enough to last for centuries, and even used to be used for making clothing because it’s so durable. But it’s also lightweight, she wouldn’t want to weigh Yoriichi’s little ears with precious metals or anything like that, I believe!

This all being said, I have most certainly noticed a trend of actual Hanafuda cards being used in accessories, everything from earrings to necklaces to charms to hang on facemasks to manicures. The only time I’ve seen this sun design has been in clear reference to Kimetsu no Yaiba, though!

Tbf it’s been 9 days since my last translation, which was the nanakusa thing. As for my usual commentary... OH MY GOODNESS I WAS SO PSYCHED TO SEE RUSSIA. I was hoping he would begin to show a bigger role in this chapter, I mean he legit lost his sister/friends, there is so much potential! I would love to see a backstory but idk if the artist is interested in that sort of thing. I am a Russia stan so I can’t help but wish to him take an active role TwT

When Prussia is speaking about the case, I got confused a lot of the time, so I’m not actually sure if he mentions that they disappeared after buying cake, there something about sweets and how they gone missing so while it seems like that’s what said, I’m not sure because if he recognizes they all went missing after buying cake, surely they would already be suspicious of the bakery right? Same goes for the “maybe he likes the head”, I think that’s said by Toni but I’m not sure.

ALSO ISN’T IT CUTE HOW DEPRESSED GERMANY IS OVER HIS FIGHT WITH ITALY? THEY’RE SO ADORABLE I LOVE THEM. America is also cute for cheering him up but I feel his backstory with Arthur is raising kind of a death flag, right? :’(

My experience in watching Criminal Minds has led me to hold high expectations in detectives so it’s been frustrating to watch the BFT not figure it out yet, but finally Roderich steps in and helps! One thing I’m worried about though is maybe Prussia is helping Italy? Like perhaps Italy is forcing Prussia to help him and that could be part of the cause of why he was so afraid when he heard Lud mention Feli (other than obvious trauma). I’m not too sure ofc, this is all just my imagination but I think it would be a cool plot twist. Other than him, I can’t think of anyone who could be helping Italy, if not Prussia, than I imagine someone to be manipulating Italy and being the cause of his trauma reviving rather than being someone that Italy is manipulating. I really can’t guess who, it could be anyone really and I’m excited to see who it could be!

Also, isn’t it lowkey messed up that after Italy’s traumatic experience, Rome didn’t decide to spend more time with Italy and comfort him but instead sent him away to some distant relative? I imagine it must be because Rome knew Italy should get away from the area but was stuck in a situation where he himself couldn’t leave such as his job, so he sent him to a trusted relative. They do seem to be rich so perhaps Rome thought he would be happier there.

Also I found out that I’ve actually been misspelling hre’s name, it’s supposed to “Ernst” I believe. But I’m thinking of combining all Lunatic Blue chapters 1-8 with the earlier chapters being more “clean” like how it is now rather than shaded, so I’ll have it changed to “Ernst” during then along with other fixes to mistranslations and typos.

anyway i also think it's interesting that people are still fully behind the matildas and frustrated about that disallowed goal but still supportive of what they have achieved ... not gonna lie there was a lot of hype after the win against gb which is as they deserve and i think they will emerge from this tournament with a lot of people globally having a lot more admiration for them but yesterday they weren't playing as well so i was maybe too anxious but definitely worried people would stop caring which does not seem to have happened(?) and they already have done so well i think the tillies are a team that thrive on energy and self-belief which is also why i think that disallowed goal messed with them just a bit obviously that's just what i see and think as an outsider but yeah. also thinking about sam kerr kelley o'hara podcast which is weirdly like comfort listening now where kelley asks if sam thinks the matildas are gonna have to have a shift in mentality from always being the underdog to realising acutally we're really fucking good. i think that will come after this but i think what they have now is what has carried them through like it is sheer wanting.

anyway it's like on the other hand the uswnt is a team everyone usually expects to win and they just haven't, this is interesting and like. they have not played their best individually and as a team. it is obvious and pinoe said it herself but for some bonkers reason i spent time scrolling woso stan twt (as well as like other slightly more rational takes including the athletic's podcast which was produced with a stunningly fast turnaround) instead of sleeping and so many people saying they didn't deserve to advance and picking apart the roster and individual players, calling for retirements, etc etc. all of which are probably very valid things to say but yeah the contrast is just interesting to me and idk a little bit sad. probably valid but still sad! let them take that time to reflect! and the team gets so much vitriol already. also this is a problem i keep seeing but the emphases on winning is bad it's not good. also think my weird empathy issues means i am fixating on this just a bit lol but it is that i like it when women win and i hate it when they lose. also and this is important i want more for the Black women on this team and i see people try to speak up about the racism from other players (refusing to kneel with teammates in solidarity is very very telling) and their federation and i hope the players themselves can come forward and speak about it if not right now than in a few months and that changes can happen. and yes their coach seems to be awful. but ya sad to see and sad to think about so obviously i am doing it.

anyway again the group round match was absolutely painful to watch i didnt finish watching bc i was like ya i'm not doing this and this time they have to play until someone wins but i just want everyone to turn around and enjoy being at the olympics playing a sport that they love. it might not happen but it is what i would like to see and what they all deserve!!! i wonder the extent to which not having crowds contributes to this, obviously covid is something everyone has dealt with though i think matildas getting a new coach who had to coach some of them on zoom for four and five months is particularly bonkers when i heard that i was like what da hell. anyway yes like i just want to see a good game, i think the match against gb was a great game not just bc we won but because of the energy. so yeah lhoping so hard for a game everyone can be happy with.
