ok. i hate to be put in this position because polo x carla x christian was an OT3 that was really close to my heart but yeah, here goes a long rant: POLO X CARLA X CHRISTIAN IS IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM BETTER THAN POLO X CAYETANA X VALERIO.

First of all, anyone of you who says they’re just recycling or repeating that storyline can fuck right off, let us polyamorous people have more than one throuple in a show.

Why is Polo x Caye x Valerio better? Simple: because they talk. Because they’re open. Because they’re aware of what they want.

Polo x Carla x Christian was born out of a shady game/experiment Polo and Carla wanted to try. Polo x Carla x Christian throuple’s whole foundation was a clusterfuck.

Christian was fooled into thinking Carla was into him when really he was being watched without his consent when he had sex with her. Carla thought she was trying to salvage her relationship with her boyfriend and Polo was just trying to act on his attraction to men without having to end things with his girlfriend. Messy. Then when Christian got in on to the picture, he did so for his own, dishonest reasons.

Let me break it down into the three parts, because that’s the real issue: all three of them did terrible, questionable stuff.

First, the original sinner & real orchestrator: Polo. Yes, this whole thing was Polo’s idea even though Carla had to nudge him towards it at given points.

In season two we find ourselves with a Polo who’s not questioned about his bisexuality, who explicitly says “Bi? Is that what I am? You know, you may be right. I might be bi” when is labeled as such & then who reveals to Guzmán he was into him at some point in his life. We don’t know for sure how long people have known this about Polo, but they know now. But FIRST, in season one, we have this exchange between Carla and Polo, the first time he’s having doubts about what they’re doing:

[btw, this is Carla being supportive of her bi bf, just saying. She was encouraging, at one point, but, yk, I’ll get to that]

Now, either this happened sometime before Polo’s bi awakening via Guzman’s incrediboy ass or this right there is Polo outright lying to Carla. Polo was aware that he was attracted to guys & his main goal of having a threesome with his gf & some other dude was to explore that (or he wasn’t but then the whole timeline is weird bc then that means he liked Guzman sometime during S1 events. idk). First strike.

Then, where else did my dear chaotic bi Polo go wrong? He let himself get pushed & influenced by Guzmán’s nosy ass comments. Polo was ready to help Christian get a modeling job with his mother, to get Christian to like him as a friend, without anything sexual in return

but then Guzman got inside with his head with his “Christian wants to take advantage of you” & then Christian’s whole dismissive attitude towards him & Carla calling him out on being jealous just triggered his Messy Needy Bi brain. So he got Christian to suck his dick over a magazine cover = he took advantage of Christian before he could do it to him. Second strike

And the nail on the coffin was cheating on Carla. Because yes, that was cheating. He lied to her to get alone time with Christian so he could have him to himself. He broke his girlfriend’s trust &, as the principle of their arrangement stated they weren’t supposed to do anything with Christian without the presence of the other: he broke the rules. Third strike.

This last point of Polo’s faults brings us to Carla’s mistakes:

As I pointed above, Carla did encourage Polo in his attraction towards guys. In the examples of: the scene above, when she told him he liked Christian undressed better, when she moved the boys’ chins to see if they would kiss with a smile on her face, even when she pointed out Polo was jealous she was amused by it. She was on board. In fact, she was actually even pushy about it when you come to think of it, which is not good, bc if Polo hadn’t told her then she just had to wait for him to gather the strength to say it, not push him out. But I digress.

It was only after Polo broke their pact that she turned disapproving & judgemental & did that cursed thing of questioning Polo’s bisexuality by saying “I think you like boys more than girls”.

A lot of people like to think that Carla pulled the strings to get herself this double course meal but as I said, that’s not the case. Polo had the idea, it’s just that Carla had the drive to actually pull it off. That being said, the way she decided to get there was controlling and messy, yes. Most of the times, she cared more about getting keeping the threesome arrangement than the genuine concerns and doubts her boyfriends had. Dick got her careless about her boys feelings.

Then there’s the fact that, yk, she coerced Polo into lying about what he had done (which, now that S3 is out makes me wonder a LOT), which ended up getting messier than it needed. And then she also dragged Christian down.

PS. Also, a lot of people seem to have pointed out that Carla was more into Christian than she was into Polo but I feel like that’s a reach. Polo had been her boyfriend for over four years, so ofc, she was a bit more enthusiastic when she was with Christian. But when it all came down, the one she really loved was Polo. Only Polo. (which is also an issue for a polyam triad, ofc)

Now, on to the icing of the cake: Mr. Christian “I’m not aware I’m a huge ass raging bisexual & Im upset about it” Varela. Yes. I said it. Christian’s bi, I got plenty of proof & no doubts.

As I’ve pointed before: Christian was put into this trio clueless. Used. Lied to. The guy had very valid reasons to go “if you want to spice things up in your relationship, get yourself some other guy”. But since he’s a dumb (bi) boy with a Plan, he accepted.

Nothing ever goes right in triad in which one party just “””accepts””; they’re either into it or they’re not. Forcing polyamory is just as bad as forcing monogamy.

That’s not saying that Christian wouldn’t have gladly been a part of their trio had they gone right at it (just, picture it, Polo helping Christian get that fame & recognition he craves, slowly getting close to him. Carla being supportive & reassuring of her interest in them, equally, bam! They would’ve gotten Christian forever).

However that didn’t happen, so instead, we got a Christian who’s core interest was sexual & social/economic. He wanted to be with Carla for sex & with Polo for money/prestige.

There was potential for Christian to realize he’s not straight. Because no straight man looks like this when being sucked off by a guy:

There was potential for Christian to fall in actual love with Carla, too. Potential for Christian to become more than what his parents thought him to be & to exploit that ambitious side of him in something that would’ve made him truly successful. However, Miguel Herran (Christian’s actor) had scheduling conflicts or didn’t wish to be part of the show anymore so all that potential went to waste.

Why Polo x Caye x Val are better

Essentially: because they have none of the above.

Polo has left insecure-about-his-bisexuality Polo behind, he’s grown & knows better than to lie & be pushed around now. Cayetana is in no position of power to be controlling or pushy. & Valerio is fully aware of who he is/what he wants with them from the beginning.

The circumstances have made Polo stop being concerned about what his friends (now former friends) think of him & his love life. In fact, he proudly rejoices in it & tells the people he cares about, about it (Ander, his moms). Polo’s really only hesitation at first was rooted in the fact that his previous try with Carla & Christian didn’t work out.

Valerio comes forward with his equal interest in them as soon as he realizes that’s what he wants. (which is after he learns Polo tried to commit suicide) He makes sure to state, verbally, that he’s into both of them:

& even makes sure that they like him back by asking them. Which they verbally assure Valerio they do. But they’re only saying no because they don’t want to tarnish Valerio’s already controversial reputation, showing that: they care about Valerio at that point already.

Cayetana, for her part, did positively what Carla wasn’t able to, for one reason or the other: constantly be reassuring and supportive of the triad. She’s the one who made sure the triad kept on by just being open & honest about how good it was for them. (”You’re the piece we were missing” to Valerio & “We’re building something nice here. Something worthwhile” to Polo).

When Polo&Christian wanted to call quits & break up the arrangement, Carla forced them back in with manipulative tricks (sex or pressure). Meanwhile, when Polo&Valerio got insecure about the triad, Caye lured them back in with honest, sweet words and reassurance.

Ultimately, the reason they fell apart was entirely fixable had they had had more time, but the season was about to be over & Polo’s fate was already set, anyways.

You can argue Polo x Carla x Christian was hotter or that they felt more organic to you, fine. But they’re not a better trio & they’re definitely not a better polyamship; they had the potential, but the writers didn’t exploit it (& I’m sure that’s because Miguel H got out).

TDA contestant rankings

Woo! I’m finally getting around to making my Total Drama Action contestant rankings list! Just as a reminder, these are all just my opinions and are not a definitive ranking for everyone. Every fan is entitled to their own opinion, so you don't have to agree with these. Also, I am going to ~try~ and make these SOLELY based on Total Drama Action, without taking any other season into account. Anyways, this season is not my absolute favorite, as it makes many characters so much different (and worse) than they were on the first season, so buckle up.

15. Geoff: Oh. my. god. This season really makes Geoff into a dislikable character doesn’t it? Let me start off by talking about his time on the show. He made out with Bridgette. Their relationship annoyed me. Done. Now onto his total change in character for the aftermath. I get that he was just doing “what the producers wanted”, but he turned from a semi-likable bro dude into a ratings hungry self centered fame monger. Its a complete shift in his character that is not super necessary, besides adding conflict into his and Bridgette’s relationship, and it makes his character completely different from his previous persona. Again, I am not using season 1 as a factor for my rankings, so Geoff is so low because of this. If anyone were to only watch TDA without prior knowledge from TDI, Geoff would seem like a hormonal prick that gets a slight redemption arc so that he and Bridgette can get back to making out again. So yeah, sorry, but apologizing after a complete negative shift in character doesn't make you likable, it just makes your girlfriend take you back. whoops.

14. Bridgette: Oh joy, another person who did practically nothing in the game, did not really keep many of her established character traits, and had very little personality in the show. woo. So I put Bridgette higher than Geoff because she was the voice of reason for many of the aftermath episodes when Geoff was acting so crazy, but she doesn't really act like the chill and happy surfer girl from season 1, so her personality for this season is...bland? Without season 1, Bridgette just really gets used as a side plot to advance her and Geoff’s relationship, which goes from them making out constantly, to them arguing intensely, to making out constantly...again. When introducing a conflict in 2 characters relationship, Both characters should change in some way once the conflict is resolved...but Bridgette doesn’t really hesitate in forgiving Geoff after he apologizes, which I guess fits with her chill surfer girl character, but without the background for her aversion of conflict and her willingness to argue with Geoff on the aftermath, it just doesn't make any sense for her to blindly forgive him. I mean your boyfriend just became obsessed with himself and his “brand” and was completely willing to hit people with a hammer, an anvil, and shocks of electricity that were probably fatal to get better ratings...but I mean he’s still cute I guess? So long rant short, Bridgette is totally done a disservice this season, and completely changes from a somewhat fleshed out character into a plot device so that her boyfriend can get an unnecessary character “arc”. Nice.

13. Owen: So what exactly did Owen contribute to this season besides a lot of bad fart jokes and an unnecessary sideplot that went absolutely nowhere? Yeah, that's what I thought. So Owen this season was pretty much just a walking punchline, so not much to say there. I mean everyone probably just remembers Owen as the guy who farts a lot and is...nice? Im not a huge Owen fan, and his “sabotages” weren’t really relevant to anything that happened in the game, so he was pretty much a flop for me this season. He did have a super cool hairstyle after he was probed though so that’s...something.

12. Izzy: This is the season where I start to dislike Izzy more, which kind of brings her down as a potential overall character in the show in my opinion. Sorry bout it. So the whole “e-scope” thing in this season is not super compelling to me, and didn't bring humor, or character development into Izzy’s character. The only thing it really did was allow her back into the competition, which was completely predictable after Chris changed her name on the sheet when she first got voted off. Also, the “explosivo” thing was not really my cup of tea. The only thing that redeems this plot of Izzy’s would be if they were to somehow tie this to her having a similar affliction that Mike has and having them work through their issues together, but I don't see that happening any time soon and that's not relevant to TDA, but I am trying to find a way to redeem Izzy from this in some way because I think that she has the potential to be an interesting character. Just not on this season.

11. Beth: Even though Beth made it to the final 2, and won in the version of the show that I watched on this re-watch (I prefer Duncan as the winner, but oh well), I still didn't really find her to be an interesting character, and I felt that she was on the season waayyy too long. There’s not much to say about Beth, except for that she was bland and nice with a little bit of personality that only really came out when she was mad at Heather or Courtney. I think that having a character like Beth make it so far in the game is one of the reasons so many people tend to dislike this season. Many of the underdeveloped/less interesting characters were the ones who were meant to carry the season, which some underdeveloped characters benefitted from, but most did not. All in all, the season ended up with a not so great final 4 and a pretty meh finale, even though they really played it up to be a huge deal. Beth is one of the characters that could have sat this season out and given her spot to a more intriguing less developed character from season 1, like Noah or Cody, or even a new character. All in all, I didn't love Beth this season, but she did make it pretty far in the game and was able to prove to the haterz that she really did have a hawt boyfriend so that was a nice moment...for her.

10. Justin: So Justin is another Beth-like character to me in the sense that he was underdeveloped in season 1, and then made into a major character in TDA that didn't really pay off. Justin’s storyline is basically that he looks hot so he can manipulate people, and then he gets injured and doesn't look as hot so nobody falls for his “strategies”. Yeah, what a great message to send to children. So other than that, Justin doesn't do much this season, but he did wear a nice frog head in the fairytale episode so that was pretty cool.

9. Trent: Trent was a partially interesting character this season, but most of it had to do with his relationship with Gwen, which didn't bring a whole lot to the show in general, as they were both booted too early to have any super major effects on the game (besides throwing competitions). The one thing I did like about Trent was that his undiagnosed OCD tendencies were not based on Gwen like Duncan said, but were more rooted in an actual significant event in his life. Other than that, Trent was not really necessary for the overall plot of the show and was really only needed for his relationship with Gwen. I think that Trent focused too much on Gwen and not enough on winning the game itself, so he couldn't do much for the show besides providing relationship drama that didn't impact the show too much. Plus, I still don't know what the facial hair on his chin is supposed to be.

8. Gwen: Okay so I'm not putting Gwen this low because I dislike her on this season, but I am putting her here because she didn't contribute much to the show and was mostly just focused on Trent and how he was throwing competitions for her. I do ship her and Trent more than her and Duncan, (I would prefer Gwen either alone or with a girl but whatevs) but she was almost more “obsessed” with whining about Trent and his attempts to impress her than she was with winning the show. I do feel like Gwen comes out of this season as a generally likable character, however she wasn’t in the season long enough and was not enough of a major player in the full context of the game for me to rank her any higher. Still luv her tho <3

7. Courtney: I wanted to put Courtney higher on this list, mainly for her relationship with Duncan, but the cheating in the game is what brought her down for me. I did not like that she had unfair advantages over the other competitors, and I would have much preferred to see her come back into the game to compete on equal playing fields with the other contestants. However, I am a huge Duncan x Courtney shipper, so this season was super fun for me to see their back and forth and the way they interact with each other in a kind of love hate relationship (rip this is the last season we really get that). So yeah, my opinion on Courtney this season can pretty much be summed up with this: cheating in the competition= bad, relationship with Duncan= good. Done.

6. DJ: Don’t get me wrong, I love DJ as much as the next person and would actually consider him one of my favorite contestants, but he wasn't on the show much this season, and most of the time he was on the show it was usually related to how he was cheating in the game by getting help from Chef. I actually did like this kind of pointless side plot because I feel like it almost humanizes DJ more and makes him a more likable character to watch, but still shows that he is flawed. So in the end, I did end up enjoying DJ over many of the other characters on this season, but he was eliminated pretty early and didn't do a whole lot in the game. But if he can get me some of that mama spice I might move him up to #1 because that stuff is like magic in a bottle.

5. Leshawna: Ok, who doesn't love Leshawna? I was alright with her this season, even though she did deserve more screen time, considering how far she made it, but this was by no means her best season. So I really enjoyed her relationship with Harold, which is more prominent in this season than most seasons, and it was super cute when she admitted to liking Harold on the aftermath. I did not enjoy the fact that her shit talking in the car during her reward got out, but that was mostly due to Courtney’s PDA and not really Leshawna’s fault. I also feel like she was smart for convincing her team to give her the reward so props to her for doing that. Anyways, Leshawna was pretty middle of the road for the most part this season, but she did provide some nice content and actually played the game to win, what a queen she is.

4. Lindsay: This season, I enjoyed Lindsay a lot and thought that she did much better in the competition when she could actually play her own game than doing Heather’s bidding. My favorite part about Lindsay this season was actually her recognition that she had been more of a follower than a leader, and her attempts to remedy that were at least “admiral” (haha see what I did there). So other than that I don't have a super great reason for putting Lindsay this high, other than the fact that she was at least more likeable and more visible than the other characters on this list in my opinion. I think that Lindsay is almost always an enjoyable character, and this season kept me firm in that belief.

3. Heather: As usual, Heather was a huge piece of this season that made it more enjoyable and interesting to watch. Being a villain, it can be hard to get people to actually root for you, but somehow Heather manages to be one of the nastiest people on the show and still be loved by the fandom. I think one of the huge factors in this is that she owns her villainy. If Heather went into the confessionals and tried to pretend that she was a super nice girl who always wanted the best for everyone, she would probably be much less popular with the fans, but instead she decides to make it clear that her mean girl attitude is intentional. I personally love this about Heather, and she is one of the main reasons I could actually get through this season. The story with her hair was also more humorous than the other stories that I think were meant to be funny but ended up being more annoying in the end. So yeah, Heather was an ice queen this season and totally owned it. And I continued to love it. What’s new.

2. Duncan: So I didn't think I would end up liking Duncan on this season as much as I did, but he actually really stood out to me as a good character and was one of this season’s main characters. I have always liked Duncan in some way, and he used to be one of my favorites as a kid, and I think this season is probably part of the reason why. He is one of the contestant whose primary focus throughout the season is to win, which I always enjoy in a character because its the supposed reason they are on the show in the first place. I admit, a big reason I liked him so much this season is because of his relationship with Courtney, as I do ship them (as stated before), and I really enjoy how Duncan clearly feels something for Courtney on this season, and his reaction when Courtney comes back on the show is indicative of how much of a hold she has on him (for this season). Unfortunately, this is the last season we really see Duncan as a more likable character, but I thought that he contributed a good amount of content to the show and made it ultimately more enjoyable for me to watch, so sorry if you hate him.

1. Harold: Okay so this season is literally one of the primary reasons that I absolutely LOVE Harold. In a season with very few real break out characters, Harold shines as a lovable protagonist that had too little screen-time in the first season, but shows more personality and skill at the game in the second season. Harold is one of the only characters that I find legitimately funny, and this season was no different, as many of his lines in the confessionals actually made me laugh. To be honest, I really think Harold deserved to win this season, as he was literally a focal point in every episode and brought the perfect mixture of nerdiness and charisma to his character that was not heavily portrayed before TDA. Harold is a prime example of how to flesh out a character without making them too overly prominent in a way that makes them annoying. It might just be me, but Harold is one of the most endearing characters to arise from this season and actually makes the viewer more excited to continue his story and see more of him in later seasons. Harold was robbed and should have been in Beth’s place in the final 2. Plus, he finally got to show Leshawna more of his mad skillz and was SUCH a king in the superhero competition as Captain Alberta. You go Harold.

Me: people like Sunny, for example, who I am sure she could be happy as fuck, but as she said, she doesn't want to find a nice guy because she would feel boring and she would soon fuck it up but deep down i'm sure she wants a nice guy, like her

Markus: I don't remember her saying that, but sounds like she's afraid that she can't find one and says that as reassurance for herself

Me: sorry for randomness, i'm drinking alone and bit drunk lol thats why i can text so randomly to people like this

usually i just write it on my blog and feel better after that

i guess no one ever, including me wants to be alone

Markus: No worries

Me: i dont think i want to be alone like i thought i can

weird i thought i can always be by myself before man i want to cry i thought i just want to be happy to

Markus: Yeah, I know what you mean, I don't want to be alone, but I won't be with someone just because I don't want to be alone

Me: but somehow i just chose things that arent happy for me

exactly! thats why im always alone because id rather be alone than being with someone i cant even stand just because i dont want to be alone but somehow sometimes thats still so hard lol

maybe sometimes we actually never know what we want

but only know what we dont want. i dont know anymore

i just want to cry. and i did lol im crying, i dont even know why i cry

Markus: Yeah probably, the search for happiness is hard, but if it just came as soon as we wanted it, would you really be happy, or just content

Me: no actually i know i am prob a bit like sunny, i dont want to be happy because im afraid i would fuck it up so i'd rather choose something unhappy and so at least in the end, there wouldbe no devastating disapointment if nothing good comes out of it because after all i'm not afraid to lose it

Markus: I don't know, I don't think that anyone does that on purpose

Me: I know. i dont do that on purpose. somehow it just happens. i dont know what i saying or thinking anymore lol

Markus: I think it's a subliminal thing we do to not have to experience loss, because you can't lose what you never had, but you still want something so you are sad about that instead

Better to just search from the beginning then and face the pain when it arrives

Me: why am i crying? isnt it because it's really unhappy, then why cant i stop the unhappy thing? why i still do it. maybe it also all comes down to the fact that sometimes somehow we do not love ourselves enough to think we deserve happiness.

i dont know what i did wrong anymore. i just want to be with him, then after being with him, i went home, being alone like this, and cry. then what do i really want, a happiness with him, but im not even thinking about the possibility of this

and i know i should stop, but i just continue on, i want to touch him, but after doing so, i actually felt empty more

Markus: Then maybe you are sad because you know you will never be and are trying to make sense out of it while sometimes there is no sense

Me: i dont think i love him that much, but at the same time, i dont know what this is, maybe its just because he's my first and i felt attracted to him physically, even though physcally i don't think we match

Markus: It's hard to face life sometimes, especially when you like someone, but sometimes you just have to say fuck it, it's life

Me: maybe im just alone for so long i need something to spice it up i know i just need to fuck it and go with the flow

Markus: Yeah I know what you mean, it's hard being alone 😞

Me: but i dont know how i can just forget things, i am alone all the time but now somehow i cant be alone that easy any longer, and that scares me, because how can i face things ahead if i cant be alone that easy anymore, i used to be so numb, as im alone all the time, so it doesnt feel anything, but then i got to have chance to be with someone with friends i really love, and after that suddenly comparing to loneliness before, its a complete difference and i prefer being with someone like those people i was lucky to meet and be with, but in life its not easy to keep meeting those kind of people

and besides, i know that even though i can find a group of people who can accomodate me, i will somehow fuck it up, maybe im not just that good at socializing, or knowing how to be with someone, the fact that i drank alone, crying and ranting all bullshit like this lol after meeting him, is obviously to show that i shoulnd't be with him, but at the same time i chose to be with him because i dont believe in love i dont believe in romance i dont believe in forever happiness either, i dont believe in anything but myself, thats why i chose this experience so that i can get out of the traditional girl self who dreams of a happy ending, or a true love and blah blah blah shits, sorry why the hell did i msg you all this, lol i just want to live so that i could die, life is so long, too long we just have to keep thinking, no man, i should fucking get a job lol im kinda at liminal stage in-between thing, after graduation, before job thing, middle of nowhere, not quite here, not even there, and afraid to moving there because i dont know what is good for me 😭 man fuck me lol i should just........ sorry i dont even know why i text all this, actually the only one i can think of to talk to is sunny then im afraid i give her a burden again, so i ended up finding someone else which is you to rant on. i dont like myself who cant deal with my own shits alone, i forget how to deal with shits alone all by myself and thats so annoying lol its so annoying to be dependable on people, thanks for taking this lol good night ❤

Markus: It's OK, I was just making my dinner, yeah I understand what you mean, I also have a lot of problem finding people I can trust, especially people I can open up to, but I think that it's important not to give up, otherwise you don't know what you are missing!

And the job thing isn't easy either, I was lucky, I just happened to choose the education that would benefit me the most, but I have no idea what I want to do with my life, I think it all comes down to you live you learn

Me: you are lucky yoooooo!!!! and im sure you deserve being lucky because you will make the best of it, many take things for granted and dont do best they could but you will. i will be fine. thank you Markus 🙂 i will be fine. everything works out in the end. always. and you are a good cook! i wanna eat your cake again XD thanks to you i will defo come visit sweden one day! not like i think of anything to visit there lol except for...erm...abba museum or something? lol but yeah now i have you there i believe i could explore sweden as local
