Evidence that Krerdly will/could in fact become canon

So usually when I ship something Im like yea this is not going to be in the actual thing but I always see other people all like "PLEASE LET THIS BE IN THE ACTUAL THING" and I genuinely can't tell if they're joking or not like do we actually care that much are we stupid do we need mental help

Anyway here's my evidence as to why it will (could) be(come) canon because fuck you.

Berdly saying he has a crush on Susie is extremely unreliable, as he just kind of randomly decides he has one out of the blue and it's obvious she doesn't like him back and he's stupid very smart and terrible great at reading the room and therefore thinks she does anyway.

the following dialogue is after the queen battle:

(some trivia: dextrose refers to a type of sugar, I think our little boy was trying to sound clever with a big word and didn't use it right, or he meant to say "dexterous" which he would ALSO be using wrong btw, as it means "clever" and right now he wants to be stupid which makes him calling them clever out of character. )

There's his first lot of dialogue. Then interact with him again and he says this shit

His reasoning?

There's a lot to unpack here.

Berdly tells Kris he must turn them down because he thinks he likes Susie and is under the assumption that she likes him back. Nowhere is it implied that he is not actually interested in Kris; it is only indicated that right at this moment Berdly's sights are set on Susie because there are things about her that he really admires, and so his interest is set on her. Notice how he refers to his life as a VN. That means visual novel. He sees himself as a man amongst a variety of love interests, and believes he can only choose one, as is the case with a typical visual novel, which indicates that Berdly thinks he is monogamous (I say "thinks" due to the popular theory that he might not truly desire romance at all and just claims to since that is what he currently equates any form of intimacy to). Among the people he has marked as love interests are Susie and Kris, and so therefore he is not necessarily uninterested in Kris. He sees them as a potential match, but they are not the one he's focused on.

He says Kris is being insistent about something. While this could be him misinterpreting them showing concern for him for romantic affection, as he does have this weird fixation on romance, this line of dialogue is actually really weird for a variety of reasons if we really look at it.

He says that Kris is being "insistent" on something, and that he "must turn them down." While it is easy to assume interacting with him caused Berdly to think that showing him additional concern by talking to him means you like him romantically, you must also consider the fact that throughout the game Kris is implied to say things on their own, but we ourselves never actually get to see what they are saying. Take for example here:

I'm certain this is the case with non cutscene moments, too, where you interact with NPCs and stuff. I can only really think off the top of my head to how even when u interact with one of the swords in ur inventory Noelle tells you to stop hitting you with it, and also there are times where Kris is moving on their own despite the soul not having wandered off like in the offscreen Ralsei dialogues, plus there's Kris removing their soul sometimes which always follows us controlling them... essentially they DO still have some control over themselves even when we are controlling THEM and they can still talk on their own, which I don't see how that doesn't include interacting with NPCs outside of battle or cutscenes. I just am too lazy to open the game up again and scour it for more NPC's responding to something we didn't hear Kris say, so instead I gave you an elaborate explanation of how Kris works and it works just as well so fuck you. But feel free to look for examples of NPC's outside of battle or cutscenes responding to something Kris probably said anyway and rb this with your findings that would be great.

Back to Berdly turning Kris down. Both of Berdly's dialogues are in response to something. This second line in particular looks really suspect, and makes me believe Kris may have actually done something overt in order to cause Berdly's focus to shift towards romance, and the reason Ralsei never says anything about it is so we don't notice that our character acted on their own- as he is definitely judging them for saying that LOL. I just don't see how it makes sense for him to just say that unprompted (granted, he is a weirdo, but in a cute innocent sort of way, and not the perverted incel freak some fans make him out to be but); it just feels to overtly a reply to something said to him than it does to him SIMPLY being interacted with.

Counterargument for this second point now: it's very possible that when we interact with Berdly, Kris did something to just comfort him, like put their hand on his shoulder or something like that, and them doing it more than once causes Berdly to mistaken the gesture for a romantic advance, and I was just over analyzing it because I ship them and I relate to Berdly which means I'm a nerdy idiot genius just like him. This still does not negate point number one, though.

3. Berdly is not disgusted by the prospect of romance with Kris. His reasoning for turning them down is because he's focused on Susie; nowhere is it said that it is due to their gender or appearance or anything like that at all. I assumed he was doing some hetero-normative thing with how Noelle and Susie are both girls and he's a boy but Kris lacking a gender and him not being like "eww no" to them indicates to me that he wouldn't necessarily mind something queer going on.

I want to look at the visual novel thing some more because I've honest to god never seen anyone else talk about it.

I think that he sees Kris, Susie and Noelle as potential partners. He's not interested in Noelle himself and says that he only pretends to be because he thinks she is. It's obvious he thinks that if he were to not, she might leave him, as this romantic interest he thinks she has in him is what he believes is the reason why she even tolerates him in the first place. Were she to ask him out (she wouldn't; this is from his perspective), Berdly undoubtedly would say yes, even if it isn't really what he wants, because what he really wants is to keep her around since he literally relies on her for his studies. He confesses to not liking her in chapter 2 because he wants her to know that his sights are set on Susie and doesn't want that to break her heart.

Susie is a new one, as he suddenly finds himself admiring her and confuses this admiration for her for romantic affection. He is undoubtedly going to continue trying to pursue her until he is inevitably not only shut down but learns about her and Noelle.

Lastly, there's Kris, who, besides Noelle, is one of Berdly's only friends. While he is their rival, he does show a lot of affection for them throughout the game, even back in chapter 1. In the library he tells Kris that he was worried about them.

He also offers them a random discount on the overdue book just really randomly, which is so sweet of him honestly. There is a layer of pretentiousness, smugness, and condescending-ness throughout his dialogue in the library, which is just him trying to prove himself better than Kris.

It is implied/shown that he sees a lot of potential in them. He refers to Kris as the third smartest student in class, which, despite seeming like an insult at first, is still a bit of a compliment in its own way. Talking down to Kris is sort of a defense mechanism for him. I think this is displayed really well in the scene below:

He does, however, really care about Kris at the end of the day and it's clear he values them. I really want to bring up the scene where you give him the present. First, he doesn't even EXPECT you to be gifting him, and walks into the scene assuming you're not on his side, taking it personally when he sees you with Susie. Then, when you do give him the present, he's initially shocked, then genuinely really happy and appreciative of it, to the point that he kind of almost drops the snarky attitude. I also really want to note that he doesn't even say thank you. Like he doesn't even know how to react. Poor guy.

Throughout chapter 2, we see that the two of them have played video games together, that Berdly trusts Kris enough to want to do puzzles with them while he's struggling to do them alone in the mansion, and so yeah, it can be concluded that despite Berdly's attempts to push Kris away and prove himself as their superior, he does genuinely care about them a lot.

So, Krerdly.

Krerdly.

The only thing getting in the way right now is that Berdly is focused on Susie. Though he might think what happened was a dream in the pacifist route, he probably is going to be fixated on her both there and in the neutral route due to now assuming he has a crush on her and her liking him back; he doesn't realize that he's mistaking his admiration for and desire to get closer to her for a crush. What will kill this for him is when he finally gets to see her with Noelle and realizes neither of them liked him romantically. He'd probably then turn to Kris and ask them if they liked him, since they're the one other person on that list of love interests I just did. And regardless of whether or not you say yes, he'd still be left thinking about them a little bit, and start to seek intimacy with them since Susie and Noelle are now fixated on eachother, and Berdly thinks he needs romance so he's looking towards someone who could potentially bring him that as well: his close friend who is still single.

And then you can date him and yay Krerdly real.

That's my theory.

Real Love Song - Nothing But Thieves: this is a newer one on my kris playlist but i think it really fits their relationship with dess--taking the 'love' part in a familial/platonic way, 'can i sing this to you / got a thing about you / and it won't go away' i think this song really captures the sort of...hold dess's opinion always has over kris's sense of self, and the way they feel about her isn't exactly returned equally. in a sense this fits more with my dess-raises-kris au but it does work for kris in my other works too.

San Cristobol - Mal Blum: this is the dess song of all time to the point where it's my voiceclaim for her and is half the reason the band au exists. one big part of my dess is that she leaves voluntarily, even if she might get stuck in a dark world later on--she leaves ON PURPOSE, because she wants to. and this song is like, leaving people behind, 'sometimes i think i left you just to see if i'd be missed,' and sort of wanting to reach out but also maybe not. in a world where dess sings this she is singing it to asriel.

My Tiger, My Heart - The Boy Least Likely To: another dess song of all time, if the last one is dess singing to asriel, this one is her to kris&noelle. this song has been on my dess playlist for so long i've scripted out an animatic to it. specifically i see this as being a song for the space after she sees the bunker but before she leaves--like 'my tiger my heart / we're growing apart' in regards to how she sees kris, and then 'and i think it would be / happier / being free' LIKE. GOD. ITS SO GOOD.

Wash - Floor Cry: noelle about dess...specifically noelle as i write her in the holiday-dreemurr kids series, her pov fic in there was named after this song, but its just about. how you idolize your older sister and then she leaves and comes back and maybe isnt as good as you thought she was and you realize you're going to pick kris over her and so its about 'i never want to / become just like you / it's pretty simple / wish i could tell you why' because noelle struggles with this because she should be happy her sister is back, right? and yet...

Sidelined - The Garages: this is THE RALSEI SONG OF ALL TIME.....like. oh my GOD just listen to it. it's ralsei all the way down, how she struggles with figuring out who she is, with being a darkner, with the prophecy and the weight it puts on her, and how she's supposed to be left behind and forgotten but she doesn't want that and how scary it is to try and be a person when the world never wanted you to be one.

Pluto - Sleeping at Last: ANOTHER RALSEI SONG....this one specifically is in regards to the dess raises kris au lol since i explore ralsei/susie/noelle there but it works for ralsei in all universes. like just listen to it. it's so ralseicore. its similar in theme to sidelined so im not going to repeat myself but just 'i've been worried all my life / a nervous wreak most of the time' to the chorus of 'til one day i had enough / of the exercise of trust / i leaned in and let it hurt / let my body feel the dirt.' LIKE

My Opinions On Some Deltarune Characters

(dont hate me if u dont agree, thanks)

Kris - love them, adore them, will erase a timeline for them, fascinated by whatever the hell is going on with them, 10/10

Susie - YES. absolute feral queen, we stan, toby you did it again, 10/10

Ralsei - hes cute, but eh not feeling his ‘super pacifist’ vibe, or the swan boat implied romance stuff, still like him tho, 8/10

Lancer - absolute king, baby boy, light of my life, 10/10

Rouxls - if he doesnt show up in chapter 3 i will scream. he better end up as kris’ weird adopted uncle (and lancer’s adopted dad) by the end of this. 11/10

Jevil - what can i say, i like chaos, and i will never be able to beat him, 10/10

King - kill that man, 1/10

Noelle - im more interested in her lore and connection to the plot than. her. 7/10

what do you do in petz + how the fuck is spam tong in petz

ok, so! petz, or in this case, PF Magic Petz specifically, is an old, OLD pet simulator game from the 90s! it's made to run on doo-doo potato computers, and uses it's own wacky technonogy called, and bear with me, "ballz", to render the pet models.

there's other games by pf magic, but we'll focus on petz. before they became stinky ubisoft petz. (ubisoft bought petz) nono ignore that. this is PURE FUCKIN' MAGIC PETZ! (thats what pf stands for)

you adopt a dog or a cat... and you take care of it! and unlike most modern pet sims - your pet truly has a personality of its own. for the game's age it's actually surprisingly complex, and the community is finding new things each year! i believe just last year (or two years ago??) we found out petz have FAVORITE COLORS.

each pet is unique in their own way!! signature animations, favorite foods, what relationships they have with other petz, how you've trained them... one pet may love being fed cheese, while the other may not.

of course there's also personalities for each breed, as each breed has it's own personality. i can't explain this one well, so give this a read!

i used to play petz a lot more back then, nowadays i just check in on it sometimes, but the genuine connection you may get to feel towards your silly guys is real.

fun fact i only adopt cats. i dont do my breeding from scratch but the guys i adopt from other people or PUGS (petz universal game site) (i hope i got that right) i dont like the sounds dogs make. i still need to finish graphics for all my cats. heres some of them. i love them.

what really makes this game is the community! it's a small, but surprisingly lively and friendly community! many of these people may even be twice your age, enjoying this silly pet game online with everyone, it's wonderful! the game is very moddable, and people make their own breeds, toys, areas... anything you think of, it can be put in this game with enough time and creativity!

some people make realistic, breeds, and some people make Silly Guys! like me for example! i'm really into fan-made media petz! it's how i got into the game, after all! i've made some hexied (modded petz) of my own!

also, most people around the petz community have their own websites! for their downloads, shows, or to show off their petz!! what you can do is endless. i made my site because of that, though it's in constant disrepair and i SWEAR one day i will move to neocities.

and yes!! shows!! people do shows!! you can pose and take pictures of your petz and it'S actually a very pixel precise thing, trying to get your pet to do a show pose! people do these shows on forums and even give each other little graphic trinkets like badges!!

speaking of graphics... STAMPS!! petz fans love stamps!! i collect some, too, but my collection isnt as impressive as some other people.

people even have stamps for their own sites, that's where these come from!!

(after my friends talked about the reanimated joshua and the promised land video from saberspark - its a big collab and we talked about the people who worked on it. one of them was Moonkitti who has a petz profile picture. i then left the convo but my friend who i wont name so they feel comfy <3 remembered petz and had the wonderful idea of Modding Spamton Into It.)

Hello you-can-always-come-home,

For the past day or so you have been making your followers cringe with a hypothetical Deltarune MCU adaptation. In front of you is a computer currently displaying your tumblr account. You have 24 hours to write a cringeworthy mcu fandom-esc selfship fanfic with Berdly. Should you fail, your followers will instead fill this fandom ship niche with their own fanfic, almost certainly resulting in something far worse than whatever you could come up with. Will you succumb to the awful awful idea that you have unleashed, or will you finally get a taste of your own medicine? Live or die, the choice is yours.

christ alive. it's done. i really tried to write from the voice of a 13 year old mcu fan back in like 2014 and i really hope it doesn't come off as mocking anyone in particular. anyone who reads this i Promise you this writing style is put on and that i am a better writer than this actually

After the roaring knight turned out to be a personification of the fun gang's insecurities and was defeated by the power of friendship and also Triple Spamvil Neo 5000, the almighty fusion between Spamton and Jevil that had two laser cannon arms instead of one and flossed a lot, the heroes and all their friends decided to live together in Ralsei's castle in Castle town 2.0, a haven for all darkners and Lightners where everyone could live together and be happy since it was made of a different kind of darkness then all the others. Susie and Ralsei were now King and queen (Author's note: can be romantic or platonic depending on what you like best but all im gonna say is i LOVED the scene where he saved her from falling off a cliff and then said "I think you just fell for me" >_<) and Kris was Crown Prince(ss) (Author's note: haven't decided on a gender for Kris yet LOL). They were all roommates and everyone was happy.

Well, except for one person. Berdly, even though he was the reason the gang got out with their lives when he said "It's spammin' time" to summon Triple Spamvil 5000 (a.n: who else LOVED that morbius reference🤣), was still alone, his room in the castle was just a broom closet under the stairs and all he was ever fed was bread crumbs twice a day. Both Susie and Noelle had rejected him even though he was such a nice guy because they said he wasn't their type. Berdly's life in Castle Town 2.0 was TERRIBLE and he wished he had never helped them out at all.

Then one day he met someone who changed his life forever. She was half Darkner, half Lightner due to being born from one of the last Dark fountains to be sealed and her name was (Y/N). She first met Berdly when she was seeing King Ralsei and Queen Susie in the throne room to discuss her new job, the Lightner-Darkner ambassador.

Susie, Ralsei and (Y/N) were walking through the castle halls. "Well (Y/N)" said Ralsei, "I am very glad we got to meet you. It seems like you will be a perfect fit for the job of ambassador."

(Y/N) beamed. "Thank you your majesty. I will do my duty with pride. Being the only Lightner-Darkner hybrid in the world isn't easy, but I know it'll give me a special insight for this job."

Susie yawned loudly. "UGH," she complained, "Ralsei, didja HAVE to drag me along with you to talk to this priss? You know I hate di- di- diplodicus."

"Y-You mean diplomacy." Said Ralsei.

"Ugh, what-EVER," Susie groaned. "If I don't get to break something right now Im gonna explode" She turned suddenly and smashed an expensive vase sitting on a column. (Y/N) and Ralsei jumped back, (Y/N)'s kalidoscope orbs shining with fear.

"S-Susie!" sputtered Ralsei, terrified. "Y-You have to stop breaking vases! They're expensive!"

Susie roared with laughter. "Whatever toothpaste boy. Hey!" She looked around, snapping her fingers. "Where's Nerdly? He'll clean it up for me. Nerdy!"

Berdly came skittering quickly over from around the corner. "Y-Yes your ma-"

He stopped in his tracks, eyes landing on (Y/N). She was beautiful, there was no doubt about it. Her striped whitr-and-black hair humg around her shining skin like a halo, and she wore a gorgeous floor-length gown that glittered with every color of the rainbow.

"Uh... yes, your majesty?"

Susie motioned to the mess on the floor. "Clean that up. And don't take so long this time, I don't wanna see your ugly face stilll here in half an hour again."

Berdly looked miserably at the broken mess om the floor. "B-But your majesty, you said I could have a day off today-"

"Berdly" Ralsei said sternly. "Listen to your queen."

Berdly sighed sadly and dropped to the floor, and (Y/N) suddenly felt terrible for this boy who seemed like he just wanted to live a nice life in Castle Town.

"Excuse me," she touched his wing and he froze, blushing, "Don't worry about that. I'll clean it up."

She snapped her delicate fingers and in a second, the shards had disappeared. Leaving the floor clean again.

Berdly blinked in surprise. Susie's eyes narrowed. "Aw, c'mon, wheres the fun in that?! He always does the cleaning here! It's fun to watch him suffer!"

Ralsei tried to intervene, "Susie, please-"

"I don't care if you don't like him," (Y/N) challenged the dragon, stepping closer adversarially. "It's wrong to treat anyone this way. He obviously only wants to be friends with you and you're being very unfair."

Susie, not used to being told she's wrong, glared at (Y/N), smoke flowing out of her nostrils. "I'm Queen here!" she yelled. "I should be able to do what I want! Ugh, i'm gonna need some chalk for this" She stormed off, stomping down the hall. Good riddance, (Y/N) thought, though she was too polite to say it out loud.

Ralsei hurried after Susie meekly. "S-Susie, calm down-" Leaving (Y/N) and Berdly alone in the hall.

Berdly couldn't believe what had just happened. Someone had stood up for him! Someone cares how he feels! No one not even Noelle had ever tried to challenge the way he was treated ever since he moved to Castle Town 2.0 and now this gorgeous girl was leaning down and smiling at him.

"Are you alright?" She asked kindly, holding out her hand for him to take. "I'm sorry that happened. What's your name?"

"B-Berdly," he stammered taking her hand and quickly getting to his feet. "W-Who are you? I've never seen anyone like you before."

She blushed at that, and Berdly's heart skipped a beat. Her orbs turned bright pink, the color of happiness... and love?

"(Y/N)," she said quickly. "I'm the new darkner Lightner ambassador. Please to meet you Berdly!" Her face turned sad all of a sudden. "Do they... all treat you like that?"

Berdly's blue orbs turned dark with sadness as he looked down, muttering "Ever since I moved here. I helped them defeat the Roaring Knight too. And yet even my old friends seem to hate me now..."

"That's so sad!" (Y/N)'s eyes turned a deep blue to show her sorrow. "I'm sorry Berdly. You don't deserve this."

Berdly blushed again, shrugging. "Not much i can do"

Suddenly, (Y/N) reached out and took his hand, something that no one had done in a long time "Well I'm going to do something about it. Mark my words Berdly, no one'll treat you like a slave again as long as I'm here. Now, tell me about yourself."

She took his wing and they set off down the hall, walking and talking and laughing and Berdly could feel that this girl was going to change his life.

in around 2020 was when i made my first account online i think- i know i know, not a long time. anyways, i believe I made that account on quotev.com (i had a roblox account from 2018 or 2019 but I'm not counting that). like i said, undertale was what got me interested in the internet and knowing lore of shows and games etc. it was the first thing I was really drawn to- it didnt get me many friends but i still loved it, i just felt lonely at times because even my crush at the time wasnt that interested in it, and even now I feel like my bestie(s) feel forced to like what i like (i mean, i turned a girl who loves hello kitty into fnaf fan!). same with my past crush, i always talked about what i loved but to be fair, he was the same.. when i figured out deltarune was a thing, i was. in. LOVE. though it kinda had a negative effect on me because i had roleplayed as susie online a bunch and that ruined my personality.. but i guess it also helped me find who i really am, so thats good (it was to the point i was sure i washer and i would get upset if someone dressed as her or roleplayed as her on roblox- and before this i had something similar with chara where i thought i was them and then this person i knew said he was sands and thought that would make me like like him. like bro. you cough in my face 24/7 i aint gonna have a crush on you.)

i would love to hear your ideas for other characters in your inverted au!

ahh ty!!!!! i went digging through my sketchpads and files to see if i had any other references planned out but i found nothing, really sorry about that! this au is still very much in the very early concept stage, and im not great at character design, so i might go looking to see if some of my friends or mutuals would like to help me in making it if i end up making it into a big project!

i do have a fair description of some of the characters though, just no visuals. hope thats ok! ill stop this lil rant now and get on to describing the characters lmao

some character descs under the cut!

now that i think of it, i haven't really fleshed out ralsei! he fills in as the kris of the au, though i haven't decided yet if he would be possessed yet, as the code is kinda fucked up and i dunno if that would even be possible. he lives in castletown (where he is NOT the prince, castletown has a mayor (lancer's dad) and functions as this au's hometown. hometown is the au's castletown) with his two adoptive parents, seam and jevil (SORRY IM A SEAMVIL SHIPPER HH). He has an older sibling (currently unnamed, but is agender and goes by he/she/they pronouns) who is currently in college. Ralsei's personality is similar to his canon one, hes just a sweet lil boy, but he is quieter. he has a slight feeling that there's something wrong, but he isn't quite sure WHAT is.

so, along with ralsei having the sort of 'kris role' in this au, lancer will be filling in susie's role! by no means does he act like susie, however, he does act tough, but i basically just canon lancer. he is a good bit younger than ralsei, being only 10, and was actually born after the whole world 'flipped'. he doesn't really have the most interesting story so far, he mainly just follows ralsei around because he thinks he's really cool, and they end up bonding before the actual story takes place. he, like most people, isn't aware of the 'flip' that happened in the timeline.

the character that is kind of in the 'ralsei role' is currently unnamed (they don't technically HAVE a name, im just trying to think of a nickname that lancer would call them), but they couldn't be more different to ralsei. they in courage fighting over acting because they are a little gremlin full of spite (though generally ralsei refuses). they also don't want to help darkners as they feel it isn't their job, but they go along with lancer and ralsei because they decided that those two would probably die if they didn't. they aren't really the ruler of hometown? they're just the only resident. also, they're the only person who knows to an extent what the fuck is going on with the timeline (and might have some links with the code?) but they have no clue who THEY were before the flip, if they even existed, as they are aware some didn't. they just can't remember. they disguise their face with some kind of magic

ALSO SPAMTON!! hes not really an all that important character, but back in his day he was on top; he was married to jevil, he was the ceo of the biggest company in the world, run by the addisons, and had personal links with the president (though, she liked to call herself 'queen') of the country he lived in. but, after he divorced jevil (this was before ralsei was adopted), he lost his job and is now confined to a little used car shop at the edge of castletown. he's doing alright, but he looks fondly back at his days of being a big shot. he doesn't like seam or jevil very much though

as i said, still very much a work in progress, but i have a lot of other ideas for this au, and really hope i can do something cool with it!!! tysm for the ask anon!!!

interesting to see your ask response because I don't read Kris as currently having much identity confusion at all! they probably HAVE done some species questioning but I read the horned headband, esp if it's ralsei, as an ideal that they were trying to live up to and have given up on. they're not happy but they know who they are, even if that is someone they only have space to be in metaphorical 3-day Kandrona breaks.

okay firstly: i already wrote an animoprhs au where frisk was the human and chara the yeerk but wow kris would LOVE being in an animorphs au. like their life would Suck but boy is it similar!

anyways. i can also see that! obvi i lean more to the 'let kris do some identity confusion' bc. um. i have written a massive body of work about that. but if the game doesnt go that direction i wont be too surprised lol usually if there is identity questioning its more 'this nonhuman character wants to be human' not 'this human character wants to be nonhuman.'

i feel like there has to be SOMETHING in-game though, even if the resolution is that they have to give up on this ideal they cant live up to, and just be happy being themself--idk i just feel like its boring if that happened in the past and isnt touched on. i do think the ideal they were living up to is Unhealthy (this is why im a coyotekin kris truther: not a monster or a human but themself) and so. they and ralsei got some Stuff to work out.

also this is only tangentially related but this ask made me think of it, so: i know the whole 'ralsei is an anagram of asriel' thing is used as backing for the idea that ralsei is based on asriel somehow, but im wondering if its like. okay we know canonically asgore and toriel are bad at naming children since 'asriel' is just a mash of their two names. so like, in a world where kris was adopted when they were older maybe 'ralsei' is like, this name they think their parents mightve given them if they were with tori and asgore from birth? idk its not a super solid theory but I Am Thinking

how i see different krisei - can be seen as romantic too, idc - dynamics (in conditions of kris not managing to control, ralsei knowing more than we think and sending us to see susie not to prove some point, related to her, but to talk to kris)

type 1 - googley moogley its all gone to shit

ralsei is very loyal to prophecy, considers player a godlike being and doesnt see any reason to complain of being possessed, so he doesnt like kris going off-track in general. kris views him as a lost cause but doesnt say anything

but then player goes for the weird route or decides to make roaring happen aaaand all ralsei's morals and beliefs get crushed. kris isnt surprised, ofc. the point is ralsei starting to validate others and himself as well as the "higher beings" or whatever. and so on kris tries their best to forgive him and give 'im a chance to be a better person. like to think this happens during the end of the world so its pretty tragic cuz theyd be awesome together if they had more time. but the only thing that forms between them in that short amount of time is some kind of special bond and mutual understanding. trauma buddies, if you will. love it for the angst potential, the cute boi not being perfect and kris showing their own desire to give chances

type 2 - "inspiration for living"type romance(?)

kris doesnt like ralsei quote unquote cant stand his fake ass. ralsei pretty much convinces player there's nothin to worry abt and waits for his turn to talk to the actual kris patiently. he understands that an unpleased god is a threat and plays along but still thinks that kris deserves better and encourages them in showing their own way of doing things. he reassures them everyone sees their personality glowing through and that theyre capable of leadership in it all. kris appreciates it cuz yk. hits right in the middle and the thought of it brings them comfort. ralsei is happy to watch kris grow and overcome their fears/problems, make new friends, figure out their relationships and just become their own person in general. also im sure kris isnt pleased with ralsei only thinking of others so they try their best to make him feel worthy. it takes time, but eventually he believes it. then something bad happens probably. idk idc up to you but i have a feeling healthy relationships never last long if youre a trans magical goat boy and a blue hair and pronouns teenage jokester

type three - do mi ti why not me

yeah, you guessed it. angst potential

very short. ralsei's genuinely in love and admiration with player and kris gets used to it with time. theyre annoyed at first but theyve never seen such attachment shown towards them (not them actually but you get it) and when they realise it, theyre rlly sad. there isnt any ending to it, thats just how things are. maybe when the main fountain will be sealed theyll miss him. i dont know

type IV - WHAT DO YALL WANT FROM ME

kris is suspicious and curious of ralsei, asks him what's his deal, but ralsei doesnt fucking know himself. he pretty much does what he's told because of lack of alternatives. he's weird in spamtype situations because he's lacking social experience and doesnt know how to deal with trauma. kris recalls the feeling of not being the one in control and relates to ralsei being tired of everyone's shit too so they like. ptsd solidarity (not actually, ptsd is very different but i dont wanna repeat trauma buddies i mean)

i find not-giving a shit ralsei funny for some reason and the concept is interesting in general

I feel like you are really good at looking in depth at characters. I’m super curious what you think of Ralsei? I have so many feelings about him, I feel like he is really struggling with his identity and who he is supposed to be. We get a hint of this during the boat ride where he asks “I wonder what being “Ralsei-like” even is?” And he turns away from the camera before apologizing. I do think he loves and cares for Susie and Kris a ton, also with the fact that he has been alone for a very long time so of course he doesn’t really know much about friendship yet. He thought that all you had to do was be nice but after seeing Susie he realizes there is more to it. I could talk about the boat scene all day I feel like it is the most in depth look at Ralsei we have seen!

oh i Love ralsei. even though theres been a trend to see him as a secret traitor lately, im a firm believer that, while a bit suspicious, he definitely isnt malicious. he clearly knows a lot about dark worlds and the world of deltarune as a whole (much more than any other dr character), but its also pretty clear that he lacks knowledge in other, more personal spheres. and who could blame him! like you said, poor dude has been alone literally his whole life. alone with one prophesy, one 'purpose' that he must fulfill-- that oughta mess with your perception of yourself (as well as your general worldview) a lot. unlike any other darkners weve encountered so far, it seems like hes fully embraced this..frankly upsetting role of a polite servant to the lightners. (the poor boy is a bit too passive and obedient for his own good, as evidenced by how quickly hes made into a literal servant in queens mansion) i think the root of his identity crisis lies in him being so preoccupied with becoming who hes 'supposed' to be that he forgot to ever learn who he is, if that makes sense.

it also seems like he strived to be the Perfect Friend without really knowing how friendships, or, hell, people work. like, nobody can actually be perfect, but thats part of what makes people unique and lovable in their own way. ch1 ralsei had such an idealistic and clear-cut view of friendship, heroism and other such things, and im glad that becoming kris' and susies friend has made him question all of that. its already been pointed out, but the way he goes from 'susie isnt acting like a Real Hero' to 'but isnt it wonderful that shes Her?' is fantastic. it means hes learning, growing, and perhaps coming ever so closer to discovering what being 'ralsei-like' is for himself.

id say more, but honestly id just be repeating what you already said (again). the boat ride IS a great scene bc it gives us insight into ralseis Personal struggles, and i feel like we dont see nearly enough of that
