The critical hit portraits are at nearly 300 notes whilw im writing this and I am beyond happy so many people enjoy my silly little idea. The AU is still sitting in my brain and I'm writing headcanons for it.

Idk if I'm going to separate them by character with little character references, or just infodump it all into one page. For now here's some general stuff I've come up with. I'll put it under a readmore after the first five bc there's a lot.

Also if anyone wants to send asks about the AU, I think that'd be pretty neat 😳

Setting is a blend of Ninjago City in the show and the 10 or so minutes I saw of it in the movie before Luh-Loyd happened.

Shadows attack the city regularly, but only at night. In the AU, they're spawned from the Overlord and cannot handle natural sunlight.

I'm limiting Shadows to only be active at night to mimic the Dark Hour in P3 while still being separate, and to give myself plenty of opportunities to use P3-5's social sim aspects like Social Links/Confidants.

I'm only gonna refer to Social Link/Confidants as just Social Links (SLs), but they'll still have the same kind of benefits as Confidants.

There won't be any other world the group goes to in order to fight Shadows. The Velvet Room is technically the only other world present, but only Lloyd and Wu can go in there.

The main group are all teenagers and in school, it wouldn't be a Persona AU if they're weren't lol.

Cole is 18 and in 12th grade. Kai and Jay are 17 and in 11th grade. Nya is 16, but skipped a grade and is in 11th with Kai and Jay. Lloyd is 14 and in 8th grade (middle school). Zane and Pixal (I've decided she will be part of the main group) are a bit of a special case.

Both of them are still robots like in Ninjago. They're Anti-Shadow Supression Weapons created by Borg Industries (they kinda serve the same function as the Kirijo Group in P3.) Zane was a prototype and was due to be scrapped as he had become outdated. He ended up joining the party shortly after its formation instead. Pixal is a much more recent model and will be the very last member of the party.

Since Anti-Shadow weapons are still considered fairly new in the AU, Zane would be roughly between 8-12, but have the mental functions on par with the older members of the group. So he's treated as being the same age as Cole. He does attend school with the group and is in the 12th grade as well. I'm kinda mimicking what was done with both Aigis and Labrys in P3 and P4 respectively.

Pixal was built much more recently, maybe 4 years prior to the AU? Still figuring that out. She's practically a walking computer with an internet connection and all, but she's considered as young as Nya. They even parallel with Pixal being like a younger sister to Zane. (Sorry, I'm not a big PixZane shipper.) Pixal does not attend school at all and has no desire to. For Pixal, I'm kinda treating her based off of what I understand of Sophia in P5S even though I haven't seen much from that game at all yet.

Wu and Garmadon are from the Velvet Room. They both regularly left the Velvet Room to enjoy the human world. Garmadon started a family with Misako and had Lloyd, but later went missing and hasn't returned to the Velvet Room since.

First Spinjitsu Master and Overlord kinda take over the role of Philemon and Nyarlathotep. FSM isn't ever present, he leaves everyone to their own devices. Overlord, on the otherhand, is the main antagonist and is the reason why Garmadon is missing.

Wu is the current caretaker of the Velvet Room, Igor is on vacation or something.

When Wu isn't present in the Velvet Room, Morro watches over it. Morro will also be Lloyd's Attendant. They don't like each other 💔

Cole, Nya and Lloyd won't be getting their normal elements. I'm sticking to P5R's battle system and elements, as well as weaknesses and technicals for enemies. I wont be using anything in P1, the P2 duology, or other parts of MegaTen because most of their systems are insane and have too much going on lol.

For Cole, there is an Earth element, but it hasn't been used since P1 and the P2 duology, and was included in a few other parts of MegaTen. His Persona will mainly have Physical skills, since that still fits him. Maybe a few Almighty skills just to give him a bit more variety too lol. Probably gonna base his skillset off Shinjiro's in P3.

Nya is in a similar spot to Cole, yet somehow worse. Water is also an element in the series, but from my understanding it was ONLY used in the P2 duology and nowhere else is MegaTen. P5 does have Ice, but that's kinda stepping Zane's toes. She'll have a few low level Ice skills, but I think I'm gonna test out a skillset centering around Nuke for her. If that doesn't work out, then I'll have to come up with something else.

The closest I can pin to Lloyd is Force, but again I'm sticking to P5R. Next best is Curse, Bless or Psychokinesis. Lloyd is also the main Wildcard, so it doesn't entirely matter, but for now I'll just be giving his initial Persona Curse skills.

I'm running with my headcanon that there can be multiple naturally chosen Wildcards, but only one can reach the true potential of the ability. So both Lloyd and Kai get the Wildcard ability, as a sort of nod to how Kai was originally going to be the main protagonist in the show before Lloyd was added.

Kai's Wildcard is similar to Akechi in P5. He can only summon two Personas. His own initial one, and one to represent his bond with Nya.

Also Kai does not have Velvet Room privileges.

How about this: SEES are fine with babysitting one or the other when it comes to Ren and Riku, but when they have to babysit the two of them at once... There's a lot of fear.

OK YES YES I LOVE THIS!!!! So I have a few thoughts so I’ll do my best to organize them here:

So I was thinking first off that like Rumi, Takuto and Ren all live in Port Island? Rumi was there because she wanted to be close to her half sister and Takuto maybe for research things? And that’s where they met say.

Sometimes Rumi and Takuto are busy and they obviously need someone to mind Ren so Mitsuru and Yukari are their first choices. Yukari is usually at home so she probably minds them the most. I remember from your series that Ren really likes Featherman so like Yukari is an instant hit with him. Also Yukari is really good with kids in general so babysitting them is no bother for her.

Also really quick I forgot to mention that Riku has a sister Yuna! She’s just as crazy as he is (she has a knife collection that she throws for fun 💔) so when it’s the three of them together? SEES nightmare.

I think aside from Yukari, Shinji and Aigis are probably the best. Shinji is also really good with kids and his cooking is enough to “please the beasts“. Aigis has the advantage of simply being able to keep up with them 💀

Akihiko, Chidori, and Junpei are all banned from baby sitting unless another adult is present. Akihiko joins in on the shenanigans, Chidori genuinely believed it would be a good idea to leave them on their own and Junpei also encourages the bullshit and ends up being the main victim of their pranks

Fuuka and the twins are honestly not too bad. The twins (particularly Minako) will encourage their antics sometimes and Fuuka has a hard time controlling them. Ken is also pretty good he’s their cool older brother <33

And Shibusawa!! I feel like he would get roped into the baby sitting a lot. He’s also a cool uncle and I can see him getting on really well with all three of them!!! Although he is on thin ice for feeding them too much sweets just like your fic 💀

Two incidents I thought of randomly:

One time Akihiko, Minato and Shinjiro were minding them and they managed to freeze a mentos mint into an ice cube and give it to Akihiko who put it in his soda. Shinji was NOT happy about cleaning up the resulting mess.

Another time they gave Minako a heart attack because they taped a foghorn thing (idk what they’re called but those prank horns) to the back of the door and when she opened it went off. They forgot to remove it though resulting in a very startled Mitsuru when she got home 💀💀

More Notes:

The 'Wild Cards' in this just have really good partnership/Resonance abilities with everyone in their groups, so they can work with any of the Weapons in their groups (and even outside of them a lot of times... looking at Ren and Loki for an example. xP) uncannily naturally.

The Navis in this are all Witches, but good-natured ones, and use their magic to support their respective groups/help make the world a better place. For example, Futaba would probably be able to 'hack' souls somehow with her magic, and also her reclusiveness in this would be at least in part due to being terrified of people finding out her true nature as a Witch. I'm not sure how welcomed/persecuted/the general climate of Witches are/is in this AU yet though.

The Arisato twins and Ryoji are all children of Death in this, with Ryoji being the older sibling and the twins being twins. Death is still Death like he is in SE-OG in this AU, more or less.

Ryoji and Aigis tend to float between Minato and Minako as their secondary partners, though Aigis tends to stick more to Minato as his primary partner and much less often swaps to Minako, while Ryoji shifts between his two siblings more frequently. Yukari swaps about as much as the rest of SEES's Weapons do among their Wild Cards, which is more or less situationally or for fun. Despite this, Aigis and Ryoji still don't get along particularly well with one another, only putting up with each other for their Meisters' sakes.

Strega did exist in this, though I'm not sure yet what their aim was, or the fate of its members. At the very least, they were some kind of rogue antagonist group, and Takaya used to be the Meister of both Jin and Chidori. Chidori ends up defecting to DWMA though, or whatever organization Junpei is a part of.

Aigis, maybe Ryoji?, Mitsuru, Labrys, and Minazuki are all Weapons that can fight without Meisters. Loki and/or Robin Hood might also be among them? I'm undecided.

Originally, I was considering having the cast have their Personas as their Weapon-partners, and just have them have personalities based off of their Shadow-selves' but more aligned with their accepted-selves, but I decided against it in the end. Akechi gets to be the exception, because he's Akechi.

Speaking of Akechi-- Robin and Loki are very powerful Weapons in this AU. Loki's 'chaos magic' would become an incredibly chaotic/maddening soul-wavelength that most others wouldn't be able to handle contact with on its own, as well as perhaps some Madness magic or abilities of some kind? Robin's soul meanwhile would be much calmer and help to counteract/cover-up Loki's from those who can sense souls, as well as perhaps provide some tactical abilities; I'm undecided on that for now. I'm not sure who's side Akechi would be on in this AU yet, like if he was being manipulated by a Shido-like person or not, and for what reason if so.

As for Robin and Loki's personalities and appearances in this... Well, the latter would be somewhat similar to their Persona forms probably, including some of the less-human traits given OG-SE characters (*stares intensely at Excalibur*), and the former would also be somewhat based off of those, as well as sort of how Akechi acts in relation to both of his 'masks'? So Robin tends to be calmer and more polite, though he still possesses a small amount of vengeful desire or bloodlust, whilst Loki is a lot more chaotic, hot-blooded, and very vengeful/aggressive. Both share a tendency towards showiness however, and sometimes get in small competitions with one another to up the other to impress their Meister or be the better Weapon among themselves (since they both might think already that they're superior to other Weapons in general? Unsure).

Also speaking of manipulated and abused children, Sho and Minazuki, alongside Ikutsuki, more or less replace Crona, Ragnarok, and Medusa in this. Not fully 1-for-1 however. Ikutsuki is very much a human, albeit a Mad or power-hungry one (still kinda looking to create a Kishin or otherwise bring about some kind of catastrophic destruction), and Minazuki is a separate Weapon, as opposed to how Ragnarok is Crona's Black Blood. Minazuki and Sho might be twins however, just with one a human/Meister and the other a Weapon. They look almost identical physically in this AU, even down to haircuts, but Minazuki lacks the iconic X-ish shaped face scarring that Sho possesses (and overall the two have a different patterning of scars across their bodies), and Sho's irises appear to be more gray while Minazuki's appear to be more blue. Weapon-form-wise, Minazuki looks like Sho's OG katanas, just in different colors and as a singular blade rather than a pair.

Ikutsuki is still forcing Sho and Minazuki to become stronger in similar methods to Medusa in some ways however, such as going out and obtaining/consuming great amounts of human (and maybe even Witch) souls.

Sho's a little less messed-up than Crona is, due to Minazuki being supportive of and dedicated to him as opposed to bullying him into submission like Ragnarok does to Crona. That being said however, I don't yet know why Minazuki hasn't yet defected from Ikutsuki. P: Other than that, Minazuki is kind of like Sho's impulse control and logical reasoning at times, due to being able to control when he transforms into his Weapon form and thus deny Sho access to his weaponry in times where he's being reckless or unreasonable. Soul-wavelengths-wise, too, Minazuki's soul just in general helps to keep Sho's soul/wavelength more stable probably?

Also in terms of replacing SE cast and plots; The IT replaces Maka et al for the sake of the main story most likely, with SEES being their upperclassmen or alumni and the PT being their underclassmen, if they even attend DWMA at this point anyways.

Lotsa dead people in OG are alive in this AU; Minato, Minako, and Ryoji, Shinjiro, Kasumi, etc.

Speaking of Kasumi; she fights kind of like Sumire does in Royal, that being making use of their gymnastics and priorly-athletic builds. Both sisters are gymnists in this still.

Alternatively, Sho and Minazuki's situations almost ended up reversed, leaving a highly impulsive/aggressive Weapon-Sho and a Meister-Minazuki who would have the kinda backwards idealology of trying to protect his Weapon partner in times where it would be best left to the Weapon to defend their Meister, but also really good at getting Sho to focus when wielding him as a weapon/in resonance (and can in general reign him in to some degree while others can't), making them an exceedingly deadly duo. I kind of prefer Minazuki as the Weapon however, as fun as the reverse could be, as it gives Ikutsuki a bit more leverage over Sho's situation I think? Also in that vein, it would make a lot of sense, given OG, for Minazuki to be more like a Black Blood entity like Ragnarok; however, I like Minazuki being able to have his own body in this, so that can be left for another AU perhaps. xP

Ikutsuki would infiltrate/be trusted by the DWMA in this AU at first, like Medusa was, but eventually get outed for his true intentions most likely. He might be a teacher or other kind of faculty rather than a nurse however?

Maruki meanwhile gets to play the role of school nurse in this. He's not a few screws loose like his Royal counterpart is though, he's just a humble nurse. However, he does still have his interest in researching dangerous subjects, though I haven't yet decided if that would be magic, Witches, Madness, Kishins, or what. It could potentially put him in knowing-contact with the Navis, if they aren't already known to be Witches by the DWMA anyways.

I'm not yet sure on what to do with Adachi or Nyx yet. Nyx might be some kind of Madness-related catastrophe, power, or individual perhaps however?

Rei and Zen are probably just civilians in this. Zen just happens to be really devoted to protecting/looking after(?) Rei still. xD

I'm undecided on if Marie should be amnesiac about her Witchhood or if she should be more like Izanami-no-Mikoto from OG in this.

Yusuke is still obsessed with artistry and beauty in this, so you can imagine what he's like as a Meister. He is still capable as a fighter and dependable when needed... more or less, but is also still easily distracted by, and places higher priority on, such things.

Ryuji kinda gets the short end of the stick because I didn't particularly know who to pair him with or what really to do with him at the moment. Mishima's a big tentative as his partner as a result of that, though I think it could prove to be an interesting relationship potentially.

I'm hoping to add more SL/Confidant and secondary/tertiary/background cast peeps eventually into various roles, but I'd need to do more refreshing/research on them first. I also haven't decided on if I should include Metis in this or not.

If the SE info is inaccurate, it's because I haven't seen the anime or read-up on it in like years. I might do clarifying/fact-checking research some day, but for now, nah. xP

Yo I just going through some of your Riku stuff and found those asks about Rumi being a Kirijo and then I started thinking: in that combined au thing with your Riku one and Rui's Takuto and Ren one, how the hell would Riku react to the whole Maruki situation? Like I dunno if you've read Rui's Buried Memories series but Maruki's clearly gone off the deep end and is really protective of his son. Like Riku would know this dude as his I guess uncle? In this au so I feel like he'd be like "I understand how you feel... But bro chill the fuck out"

OK ANON I AM VIBRATING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT HERE WE GO

It gets quite long my bad infodumping got the better of me again 💀 and ofc quick warning there's a lot of persona 5 royal spoilers ahead <3

Ok so I've actually been thinking about this a lot in the context of both the Kirijo Sisters AU (Mitsuru and Rumi are sisters and I think I might add this to the original Captain AU tbh) and also the Captain/Takuren dad AU (me and Rui's AU) and hoo boy do I have a lot of thoughts.

Now cut forward to the palace where they find out about Rumi and Riku is conflicted to say the least. He realizes his uncle has fucked him over by giving him a reality he DIDN'T want and he believes he kind of forced recovery on Rumi but at the same time he knows the pain Rumi was in and he can see why he did it. Important thing to mention here is that Riku has come to accept his trauma and realize that it hurt, yes but he got the help he needed and managed to work through it, making him a stronger person. Can you see how his ideals conflict heavily with Maruki's? Basically Riku would be angry but at the same time a little sympathetic? Like he understands wanting to fix everyone's problems by erasing all the pain but at the same time his pain and more specifically how he dealt with it has made him stronger.

Either way I think Riku would ultimately be pretty angry at Maruki. Unlike the other thieves I can't see Riku going to therapy sessions with Maruki because I feel like Mitsuru would get him the best professional therapist she can to make sure that he gets the treatment that he needs. So Maruki hasn't seen Riku since he was Rumi's lonely nephew (similar to Mitsuru he didn't have many friends growing up). However he does know that Riku's friends with the thieves because they keep mentioning him. Maruki then decides that he will include Riku in the "phantom thieves getting their ideal reality" thing BUT he bases it off younger Riku would want. Which is being happy at home in Port Island explaining his third semester which I've talked more in depth about here (possibly a little outdated but the idea is the same).

For the Takuren Dad/Captain AU I feel like while Riku is angry/upset at Maruki, ultimately? He'd be more concerned about Ren because he knows how hard this is for him considering you know that's his dad. So he'd put aside his own feelings (hmmm who does that sound like) and support Ren and be there for his cousin who he cares for dearly.

As for the Buried Memories AU now THIS is juicy because I love this AU. OK so if I remember correctly Rumi straight up dies in this AU. So like I felt it was like important to mention that Riku would be really upset because he loved his aunt and ofc Mitsuru herself would be devastated because she's lost ANOTHER family member (and also her mother too because I imagine they share a mom and that's how they're related). And actually? I think Riku would be more angry in this AU. Because Ren was quite close to him and he felt like he finally had a friend. Then that gets taken away from him and he's even MORE lonely than he was before. So he finds out what Maruki did and I guess he sees it as Maruki almost abandoning Ren? He tries to understand because he doesn't want to hate his uncle completely but he can't help but feel he turned his back on Ren, instead of helping him through the trauma he just erases it and leaves him? Which actually even though it's not necessarily the same could be an interesting little parallel with Riku and Mitsuru in that she immediately gets him help and sticks with him (idk I'm kinda spitballing here). His reaction would probably be similar to Goro's actually but more raw I guess because Ren's his cousin.

These are my main thoughts at the minute there's a few loopholes here and there but I'm having so much fun thinking about this AU. Thanks for the ask <3
