hiiii its been long since i requested anything im general hahaha but how do u think reigen’s f s/o would react on things happening in final arc and the epilogue its so interesting to me plus your writing is so genius i love it! have a nice day love!!
Tumblr media
hiiii! thank you so much!! OH GOD i have so many thoughts and feelings on the final arc let's Jump Right Into It (featuring a teensy bit of "mob is basically your kid" because, well, i have a lot of feelings about that too)
first of all just- worry. you'd probably have a sneaking suspicion that everything going on was because of psychic powers but you might not associate it with mob specifically quite as fast as reigen would. and of course you wouldn't be able to get in touch with anybody so that worry would just build and build until you finally said fuck the evacuation order and went looking at the office.
you and serizawa get there at the same time after reigen sends him away and you're immediately like "where is he." but serizawa sure as hell can't say "well, reigen is currently chucking himself full force into a psychic tornado in an attempt to save the kid you've practically adopted and i just left him there because he told me he had something important he needed to say on his own" so what comes out instead is more like "um. he's. um. reigen. um. kageyama? with kageyama." the vague knowledge that they're together is enough to calm you for the time being and you end up waiting it out in the office with serizawa.
you're not exactly thrilled when reigen shows up covered in blood and cuts after sounding like everything was fine on the phone, but the relief of seeing him intact way overshadows anything else you're feeling when you bolt up to meet them at the door. reigen is pretty sure it's impossible for him to be any more in love with you than he is while he watches you give mob a onceover for injuries and scoop him up into a hug. you're a lot more gentle when you hug reigen because he looks rough, but he squeezes you with everything he's got. all three of you cry, but none of you address it. serizawa graciously looks away, and floats over a box of tissues.
as for the aftermath, treating! his! wounds! neither of you really say anything, there's just the occasional hiss from him when the disinfectant stings a bit too much followed by your immediate response of "I know, I'm sorry, sweetheart." every so often, his hand on your knee will tighten as he tries not to cry again, and you'll take his hand to anchor him as you keep wiping at the dried blood on his face. you'll need to do a more in depth check on him once the two of you get home, but your main focus is getting him cleaned up and into the spare outfit he keeps at the office so he can go back to feeling a little more normal and a little less Vulnerable.
when he finally tells you what happened, he expects you to yell at him for being so reckless, but you just sorta sit quietly until you're sure he's done. you've always admired his willingness to throw himself into situations to save others, to step in where other people probably wouldn't, so it's not like you're upset with him for doing what he thought he needed to do. if anything, you're proud, especially because you know how hard the admission would have been for him. but… you're also not oblivious to the fact that he just walked to the office barefoot. you settle on "I'm glad you're safe." he responds with "me too," and you're not sure even he knows whether he means you or himself. either way, you believe him.
after his confession to mob, it would be easier for his walls to come down around you as well. i don't think he'd start dating you without you knowing the whole Fake Psychic thing in the first place, but mob knowing too just means a whole layer of stress has been taken away from his life and he can breathe a little easier. he still lies sometimes out of… instinct? self-preservation? dramatic embellishment? but by now it's gotten pretty easy for you to tell when he does it, which is less and less as time goes on. the fact that you seem to fall more and more in love with him the more he tells the truth instead of pushing him away like he thought you would definitely helps.
i have a lot of feelings about his birthday in general that i'm having a hard time articulating but i'm also just thinking specifically about the cake incident like… holding his jaw and gently wiping the frosting off his face and laughing with him while all the kids are like "oooooooh!" is a very funny image to me. he's already embarrassed and you feel a little bad but you just can't pass up a chance like this. you give him a lil kiss on the cheek as an apology but it just makes him more flustered because now the kids will NEVER let him live it down.

the shittiest thing is that there isn’t anything wrong with 15x18′s scene [the one thing i wish is that dean could have talked back and answered but i think we know why he didn’t]
bad things can happen to queer characters. the empty deal was set up since season 14 and it’s been dangling over our heads until 15x18 and the longer we went we either thought they forgot about it or we were clowning that destiel would be the thing that made him happy and indeed it was.
bad things can happen to queer characters if you allow the story to take flight from there. 15x18 wasn’t bury your gays [imo], indeed, technically, cas was taken alive to the empty. he wasn’t killed he was just kidnapped lol.
the issue wasn’t that the empty deal was fulfilled because again, it happened. it happens.
this show can have very sad moments. the show killed him in the season 12 finale too but we knew he was coming back so it was okay.
the problem was never 15x18. that scene was beautiful, the immediate aftermath is haunting, and its impact on the fandom and pop culture was felt deeply. sp8, bobo, jackles, misha, they all did a very good job. i can play that scene in my head like it’s on screen in front of me beat for beat.
the problem was the fact that 1519 and 1520 did literally no follow up.
****I’m going to state for the record right now, I don’t believe that cas is in heaven so that’s going to take up the bulk of the second half of this so if that spec really upsets you pls don’t continue ;_;
15x18 ended and dean’s ignoring a phone call from sam, who he knows could very much well be in trouble. it was quiet, he was crying, it was sad, we all cried, we were all so happy but also so sad, it was a beautiful tornado of emotions that any writer and actor and director should feel proud of telling.
the issues came first with 15x19 when you had little emotional follow up. idk who inserted the scenes where it appeared dean was really struggling with what happened but he never explained really what happened to anyone. he didn’t say aaaaanything. he didn’t explain. nothing.
there was that report from a set watcher that said in their first scene where they try to give themselves up to chuck and he’s talking about bringing cas back that he was really really emotionial, whereas in 1519 it didn’t seem as emotional as we know he can get, and has already gotten before. but that’s more up for debate because we don’t know that person’s parameters for ‘emotional’
but regardless, dean’s emotional state in 1519 didn’t linger too much on 1518. i feel like you can feel jackles struggling to try and demonstrate that where he could but what also sucks is that he’s not in charge of what takes they use.
the last time we hear dean say cas’ name is when he gets that phone call and it’s lucifer — some more queer coding and the last bit of it we see for the rest of the show.
and after that, literally, i’m serious — like go back and watch the episodes if you don’t believe me — dean never says cas’ name again after that.
so already out of the gate, a man who, through our own past witnessing of his emotional state after cas has gone, should be really just completely frozen. maybe not completely, only bc you’d imagine he’d draw on that inner emotionality and help use it as a tool, and we do get ‘that’s not who i am’ or whatever but there’s still no....impact.
1519 muffled the emotional impact of 1518.
1520 shoved it in the ground and covered it with 8 feet of cement.
1520 has a whole host of issues which like — conspiracy after conspiracy as to what happened exists but the fact remains is i do believe them when they say the final script post-covid wasn’t all too far from the original pre-covid. i know there were reports from 2020 vegas con that one of the actors, i think kim or bri, said they were still working on fine tuning the script — but regardless — i don’t think it was ever going to be too far off.
my complicated emotions on 1520 range from genius episode to oh my god what the fuck episode — but the fact of the matter is we were likely never going to see cas again.
sam mentions him in a group with others, bobby mentions him as an after thought etc etc. the worst thing is that we were likely never going to see cas on screen again because if you did you’d have to put him on the same screen with dean and if that happened the people would want an answer to 1518 straight up
so we replace him with jimmy instead and what likely would have been our last glimpse at a good queercoding, the last strong punch to dean’s 15 mile deep glass ceiling they have on top of him. jimmy was supposed to be dressed like cas, and they were supposed to talk. dean’s reaction to seeing him was supposed to initially be emotional before he realized it wasn’t cas.
but even that wouldn’t have helped 1518 because we still wouldn’t have seen cas.
they never explain how cas ‘helped’ rebuild heaven, how he got out of the empty only two episodes after he got in there, why he doesn’t show his face [which i feel like would have been even more ‘wtf??’ when we saw jimmy but not cas], etc etc. since we didn’t see him on screen, and never was going to see him on screen, i did not believe he was in heaven at all.
all this unspoken dialogue and scenes explaining to us literally, — as dean and sam hunt monsters who literally rip the tongues out of people and dean gets first pied in the face [with a laughing robert singer behind him] and is stabbed in the back and killed — that the lack of emotional response and feedback and story post 1518 was a deeper issue behind the scenes with the creatives.
the problem wasn’t 1518, cas being taken by the empty as part of his deal, etc etc.
the problem was there was no emotional follow up, no contemplating, no empty rescue, no more dean and cas on screen together, etc etc etc.
[which, as part of the meta conspiracy — 1502 cas tells dean ‘we are (real)’ and now they’re not on the screen anymore by the end together soooooo was....any of that real?]
but regardless, spec, meta, and whatever aside
the problem was never 1518. 1518 is at the good kids table. the problem was, and forever will be, the episodes that came right after and didn’t do anything with that incredibly emotional and impactful scene.

Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 327
Back and to the Future/Nikola Tesla’s Night if Terror
Did I mention there’s a mistake in my “final” calendar? I put the episode of dw I watched the other day on there twice 😎👍 luckily what that really means is I can skip watching one some time this weekend
“Back and to the Future”
Plot Description: Sam, Dean, and Castiel reluctantly team up with a demon inhabiting Jack’s body to battle an army of undead souls that includes some infamous killers
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: (not even started it yet and certainly not, right?) guess who was riiiiight
Cas making sure to bring Jack’s body with them to safety (even temporary safety) 😭😭😭
Vs Cas also pointing out that he wouldn’t starve to death if they stayed in this place forever
Dean’s so mad at Chuck and in such a funny way
So….not running water, just more zombies
Oh this is actually kind of fun, like when Misha gets to play evil versions of Cas
I’m not trusting that this demon was your basic pencil pusher. He just stopped the (not-)zombie horde that god himself put in our trio’s way
Yeah, MAYBE these girls are a little spoiled but that doesn’t mean this ghost has to go after them
We’re starting to see the aftermath of various ghosts who stayed true to form
This murder clown is decidedly not sexy (to me. Could be someone else’s yum, and I won’t yuck it)
How long ago was this demon last on earth??
Oh a big bag of salt and a human heart?? Is THAT all you need??
Of COURSE Sam had to go to the clown house, poor guy
I love that Rowena made Dean say please and use the descriptor “exquisite” when he first told her they needed her to move her ass
Omg we cannot be getting Michael back again (but this universe’s Michael who got———hey, what about Adam? I know we’re NEVER revisiting that plot thread but like…that’s so stupid)
And if COURSE the gunshot wound Sam has isn’t able to be healed by Cas AND he’ll hide it…
Hey, free, fresh human heart, I guess
Lizzie Borden’s here too??
Castiel sassing Sam shooting him with rock salt when he can’t help when a ghost decides it’s gonna vanish
Worst ghosts in a show ever. Why do they HAVE to run? The ghosts are running
Oh man. The bad tension between Cas and Dean continues
Thank you, Sam, from saving Dean even temporarily from a nihilistic spiral
This is unintentionally the funniest fucking show in the world. “If we win—when we win this, god’s gone” I love this stupid show so much, I can’t believe I’m in the last season
“Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror”
Plot Description: 1903. Who or what is sabotaging Nikola Tesla’s generator plant at Niagra Falls? And has this maverick inventor really received a message from Mars?
Ruh roh I’m not gonna make it before midnight. Can we blame Megumi?? And how cute she was being tonight?
Hey, did this one come out before or after Elon became obsessed with going to Mars? Because the Tesla-Mars connection seems too on the nose
Ok I can see why he believes he’s getting messages from space
Companions should get in period dress more often
These two ACTUAL geniuses in a room together and supporting each other and comforting each other, realizing they have so much in common
This dude in the cape is bad news. Wtf is happening with him??
Ok, since we’re in NYC…I’m just thinking, what if we could DO something that would have prevented what happened to Amy and Rory.
They do this to angels in spn to interrogate them, too…but these are no angels, that’s for sure. The makeup they used almost reminds me of the spider queen from the runaway bride
Voice too, actually
Graham telling off Thomas Edison is delightful
Oh but instead of spiders, it’s scorpions, and they can shoot lasers from their tails!
And what a crazy thing that they also steal tech from other places
Edison should not be allowed to be this close to the plan
Aw, she just wants a high five and he doesn’t know what that is because it hasn’t been invented yet?
The return of the goggles!! Yay!
It’s effective for getting people off the street and away from the scorpion aliens, but it also feels slanderous for Edison to be saying that shit about Tesla
Excuse me? The Doctor is typically about stopping but not killing…but kind of in the way Aang is, but…she seems pretty dead set on killing the queen. I’m not even sure how they managed to save earth this time

decided in my secret good spn rewrite chuck wouldn't Be God all along; in s4 he really is just a prophet channeling the inspired word, the narrative is exactly as terrifying and out of his control as it seems. prophets are not just vessels for the word of god, but also vessels of god. the first hint of this we get is in season 8, when something possesses kevin to protect him from gadreel, but we don't find out what. kevin doesn't remember anything, and gadreels only recalls seeing an incredibly bright light. chuck's appearance in fanfiction is exactly the same, as is don't call me shurley. we only learn about the prophets being god's vessels in all in the family, when kevin steps out from behind chuck and tells us about it. kevin's not a prophet anymore for Reasons

Castiel - First on his mind - 13x01 - 13x05 - Destiel Canon in Early Season Thirteen
So I’m still not over this.  The confession before the confession. This is the moment that I completely stopped questioning whether Destiel was canon.  At the end of season 12 Dean has just lost everyone but Sam at once. There is not much whiskey spilled for Crowley, and Sam is unwilling to accept the loss of Mary, but neither of those are what Dean is focused on.
undefined
youtube
Dean prays to god - to chuck - I think for the only for only the second time in the entire series. Dean prays in earnest for the return of Castiel.  He mentions others but he has just lost his mother and yet his first demand is “and now you’re going to bring HIM back. You’re gunna bring them all back.”
Dean mentions everyone, his family, bobby, even Crowley, but he starts with Castiel.  It parallels Castiel’s first version of the 15x18 deathbed confession in 12x12.  “I love you. I love all of you.”  A mirrored response.
Below the cut for full analysis of Dean’s prayer, grief, and closet themes in the first 1/4 of season 13.
Dean’s prayer goes unanswered and he beats the door up in a visual homage to brokeback mountain (x). It is at this point chronologically that Dean completely loses his shit.  In the car on the way to the pirate stop Dean is unable to say the words out loud.
“Let’s see, Crowley’s dead, Kelly’s dead, Cass is... ... Mom’s gone, and apparently the Devil’s kid hit puberty in 30 seconds flat.”
Sam asks if Cass is really dead and unable to say those words Dean goes stoic as he can and says, “you know he is.” Dean’s upset, very upset, and that grief and anger is not focused on Mary.
Dean gains a tiny instantaneous moment of hope from a demon who then completely smashes it.
After his prayer Dean becomes completely inconsolable, an angry vengeance machine, the killer he used to project himself to be.  The change is supposed to be such a plot point, such a surprise twist, that it is only revealed LATER that it happened.  Such a major plot point that it must be teased and foreshadowed, with Sam asking Dean, “Dude, whatdiyou do to your hand?”  Giving the viewer their third clue that Dean did not have this cut on his hand from the fight with Lucifer and Jack.
Dean spends five full episodes without Castiel after dropping to his knees beside Castiel in 12x23, and in that time we see Dean unravel.
In 13x01 he no longer cares about secrecy, immediately explaining the situation to the sheriff.  We see him choosing to approach Castiel’s body alone, looking upon him with such deep pain, tenderly wrapping, pausing multiple times to steel himself so he can finish that task.  Sam continues to get more and more concerned for Dean’s mental state.  Dean taking out his anger and rage and grief all on newborn Jack who continues to do nothing wrong and idolizes Dean.
We see Dean drink himself under the table, rage against Sam and Jack, and actually become suicidal, killing himself in an unnecessary way with a flimsy excuse.  Billie sees it and notes something has changed.  He no longer believes he can win and no longer wants to live.
At the shifter Psychiatrist, Dean says that Sam is delusional because Sam won’t admit that Mary is dead, “If he admits it then it’s real. If it’s real, then he has to deal with it, and he can’t handle that.”  Yet we repeatedly see Dean trails off unable to say the words that Castiel is dead.  This is not how Dean has reacted to the loss of Sam, John, Mary, Charlie, or any other familial loved one.
In his loss of Castiel, Dean becomes John in the aftermath of his loss of Mary. Dean becomes the abusive father to Jack that he himself grew up with.  Jack has a moment of self harm and Dean ‘comforts’ Jack by telling him he’ll kill him so he can’t hurt anyone else.
Jody’s Speech to Patience - In Contrast to Dean’s
In addition to Dean’s grief the writers show Dean struggle with his identity - with whether to stay in the closet.  In the third episode of the season - Patience - Dean tells Patience to deny who she really is.
“This life, [hunting] there’s no joy in it there’s nothing but pain horror and death. So if you get a chance at normal, you take it.”
Jody corrects Dean. In disbelief.  “You don’t have to listen to him, to either of them if it’s not what you really want.” Jody then talks about her daughter Claire, her gay daughter Claire.
“I asked her to stay in line, to fight who she really was ‘cause I thought it would keep her safe. It didn’t work. It never does. ... you try to force it down to make someone else happy, you will only make yourself miserable.”
If that isn’t a blatant acknowledgement of the metaphor I don’t know what is.  This stopped being subtext and became... text.  Jody has dropped Dean clues about overcoming toxic masculinity before. In 12x06 Jody and Dean talked about big feelings, and that conversation was preceded by Dean beings shocked that Jody could be both badass & like chick flicks at the same time.  She’s been teaching him. However, this time was much more directly and specifically about coming out of the closet, about living in a way that is true to yourself.
After the loss of Castiel, the Dean that had developed over 12 years was gone - and he only returns upon the return of Castiel, right in time for tombstone.
Meanwhile we get Castiel’s side - where he is being tortured by the Empty with his love for Dean and his fear that Dean doesn’t love him in return.
Everytime Dean can't say Cas is dead I die a little inside.
Tumblr media
"...no matter who we lost, whether it was Dad or -- or Bobby or... And I would take the hit."
"...and now Mom and ... and Cas... And I -- I don't know. I don't know."
Dean was in love with Cas. Dean is bisexual. Dean has spent 12 years unwilling to admit it.
Dean had been repeatedly lit in orange in the car rides, but the second he believes Castiel is alive his face is inexplicably relit in white light.
Tumblr media
We then come to the final shots of the episode - where the camera COMPLETELY IGNORES SAM and focuses exclusively on zoom in reaction shots between Dean and Castiel while “It’s never too later to start all over again” plays in this conclusion to a five episode romantic longing and grief arc completely platonic reunion between two dude bros.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also see the Orange Light / Dean’s Ongoing Fear of Loss Motif come to it’s climax, the burning of Castiel’s body (13x01), and Castiel’s return (13x05).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I legitimately don’t know what the writers thought they were doing if they WEREN’T explicitly writing a romance story.
It was much later that we learned there was an angle we never got of their reunion, where Dean was cupping Cas's face and neck in his right hand.
But we do get the look on Dean's face in 13x06 when he's able to get his arms around Cas after he's deflected and called Cas 'Pal' again, Gif via @inacatastrophicmind

Happy 2nd Borthday!! From your prompt list, 24 or 29 for Willex? AU your choice.
Thank you! So, I somehow managed to combine both of these prompts and it may or may not be absolute chaos. Inspired by the time my husband told me he learned to take my tickle aversion seriously after I full on kicked him in the balls, please enjoy ticklish Alex and regretful Willie, set in a high school AU where everyone is alive!
#24: whispering in their ear, lips touching skin & #29: tickling the other one (Rated T for language)
So, it probably hadn’t been the smartest choice to let Willie know just how ticklish he was. Usually, Alex kept that little tidbit to himself as long as he possibly could. Maybe it was because Luke, Reggie, and Bobby had figured it out in third grade and continued to use it to their advantage every chance they got. Maybe it was because his dad always told him that real men weren’t ticklish. Whatever the reason, Alex didn’t typically share how ridiculously sensitive to tickling he was unless he absolutely had to. And right now, he was desperately wishing he hadn’t ever told Willie about it. Because what he had also neglected to tell Willie, was exactly how violently he reacted to tickling. And not in a cute way, but in an actual I will seriously hurt you way.
Which was why Willie was currently rolling around the floor of the Molina’s studio, curled in on himself, moaning in pain.
“Willie?! Oh my God, I am so sorry!”
Alex wanted nothing more than to reach out to comfort the other boy but given the fact that he had just elbowed him full force directly below the belt, it didn’t really feel like his comfort would be appreciated. Willie didn’t respond with much more than a quiet groan and Alex’s guilt grew exponentially.
“Okay, okay, I’m gonna...I’m gonna go grab some ice and I’ll be right back!”
He fled from the studio before Willie had a chance to respond, tearing up the path from the studio to the Molina’s house as if his feet were on fire. Julie, bent over a Calculus book with Luke hovering distractedly at her side, raised a judgmental brow as he burst into the kitchen.
“Aren’t you supposed to be having your little study date out in the studio? Where’s Willie?”
“Hmmm, yeah, yes, I am, but uhhhh, I need some ice.”
Alex had already stuck his head in the freezer, rummaging past bagged tamales left by Tía to hunt down the ice pack he knew was lurking somewhere within the frozen depths. Luke chuckled loudly from his spot at the breakfast bar.
“What gives, dude? Did you try and impress him with your mad drum skills and accidentally chuck a drumstick at his head because you were so distracted by his beauty?”
Alex pulled his head from the ice box to stick his tongue out in Luke’s direction.
“No. Not all of us fuck up playing just because the object of our affection happens to smile at us.”
Luke’s cheeks turned a bright red and Alex silently applauded his victory. Luke hadn’t managed to properly play through the bridge of Finally Free once since Julie had started sharing the mic with him during it. Take that Biceps McSleeveless. Julie rolled her eyes, oblivious as always to the underhanded barbs passed between the boys.
“Okay, so, why are you suddenly pawing through my freezer like you’re searching for Narnia? And, again, where’s Willie?”
Alex felt his own cheeks warm to match Luke’s. It wasn’t really worth lying about, even if it meant accepting a certain amount of ribbing from Luke in the aftermath.
“I, uhhh, might have maybe told Willie about how ticklish I am? And I might have maybe hit him in the balls when he tried to test just exactly what I meant??”
Julie, to her credit, maintained a strict poker face. Luke, on the other hand, lost his shit completely, falling off the stool as he laughed his goddamn ass off at Alex’s misfortune.
“It’s not my fault!” Alex tried to protest. “I told him I couldn’t be held accountable for my reactions when I was tickled! I just...didn’t tell him that my reaction might be no holds barred violence? Fuck he’s never gonna go on an actual date with me now.”
Alex felt his shoulders slump, the shame weighing heavy on his conscience. If only he could be like the other boys, normal and not so ticklish that he completely blanked and went into fight or flight mode with his dial always turned to fight. Things had been going so well before the whole tickle incident too! Willie had been kind and patient with Alex as they worked their way through a series of physics questions in his homework. At one point Alex had even sworn that Willie got so close Alex could practically feel his breath along his neck, the atmosphere shifting into a kind of charged tension as Willie whispered directions for solving the problem right into Alex’s ear. Just the thought of Willie’s lips against the skin of his neck had Alex feeling a bizarre mix of hot and cold all over. He shivered at the memory, and then remembered he was standing in front of the open freezer door. Julie squeezed in next to him, grabbing an ice pack from one of the shelves and pressing it into Alex’s hand.
“Lex, breathe, okay? Willie probably feels just as bad for tickling you in the first place. You were as honest as you needed to be about that and he’s probably kicking himself for pushing past your boundaries.”
“Right, yeah, okay? Right? Like...we can both be at fault here, yeah? I can just...go apologize and give him the ice and everything will be okay, right?”
“Right,” Julie agreed, guiding Alex back towards the back door and shooting Luke a death glare as he rolled around the kitchen floor still laughing. “Just...go apologize and see what happens. It’s not the end of the world.”
“Okay...okay,” Alex nodded. “Not the end of the world. I fucking ball racked the dude I’ve had a crush on for months but it’s not the end of the world. Yeah. Okay.”
Julie nodded and practically shoved Alex down the path back to the studio before closing the door behind him, the lock clicking into place as a clear indicator that she would not be letting him back inside before he dealt with this. Alex tripped his way down to the studio and took a deep breath to steel himself before wrenching the garage doors open and slipping back inside. Willie had managed to move from the floor to the couch, though he was still half folded over in pain. Alex offered him the ice pack with a sheepish smile.
“I’m uhhh really fucking sorry about that. I didn’t...I should have warned you that when I said I was really ticklish I actually meant ‘don’t tickle me unless you want to be violently assaulted.’”
Willie looked up at him through his long, messy brown locks, taking the ice pack with a kind of dignity Alex only wished he could fake right then. And then, he smiled, actually fucking smiled, like everything was fine.
“Don’t worry about it, dude. I shouldn’t have tried to test it. You told me you were ticklish, and I should have left it at that. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”
“Made me...made me uncomfortable? Willie, I fucking elbowed you in the...!”
Alex gestured helplessly and then realized exactly what he was doing and let out a high-pitched whine of embarrassment. Willie giggled softly.
“I mean, I was kind of asking for it. You have a right to react like that when someone touches you in a way that you don’t like. I’m just mostly sorry that I took advantage of you like that. I swear that was not how I pictured our first date going.”
Alex’s brain short circuited. Nothing but a blank blue screen as Willie’s words repeated in his mind endlessly: first date first date first date.
“This was a date?”
Not the best line, but could Alex really be blamed for such a lame response when his brain wasn’t actually properly working anymore?
“I mean...yeah I was kind of hoping it was?”
Willie laughed quietly, only a small bit of awkwardness tinging his tone.
“No, no...I mean, yeah! I...I also wanted it to be a date...if that’s...cool with you?”
Look, Alex had never claimed to be smooth. Socially awkward and anxious, yes. Smooth? Hell no. Willie stood, stepping close to Alex until the scent of his coconut shampoo tickled Alex’s nose. He dropped the ice pack to the floor with a plop, reaching up to move an errant strand of hair out of Alex’s face with ice cold fingers. Alex felt frozen to the spot, especially as Willie leaned in close, just like before, so that Alex could feel his hot breath across his neck, his words floating through the small space to twist themselves into Alex’s ear.
“Hey Alex, wanna go on a date with me?”
Alex stuttered for a short second, desperately searching for the only acceptable words to answer a question like that.
“Yes...yeah...yes, definitely.”
Willie laughed again and Alex could swear he felt the way the other boy’s lips quirked into a smile against his skin.
“Awesome. I promise not to tickle you this time.”
Send me prompts for my second birthday!

hi i just need to take a moment to SCREAM about how badly they wrote sam’s response to meeting god in season 11. god!!! 11x20 is fine whatever, but ohhhh boy do i have beef with 11x21 my god
so, okay. you have sam winchester, boy with the demon blood, lucifer’s true vessel, who has always felt unclean because of this evil inside him, and you have him canonically (at least at one point in his life) praying to god every single day, and expressing his desire for there to be a higher power so that “maybe [he] could be saved” from the evil in the world and the evil inside him. okay. and then you have him meet actual angels (who are dicks) and be bitterly disappointed that this is the thing that he’d been praying to this whole time. then you have him sacrifice his life and go to hell to be tortured for averting the apocalypse, the apocalypse that was enacted and endorsed by heaven to bring god back. and then goes through a whole other world of shit and then!!!!! and then!!!!! in season 11, he STILL has faith. he still prays to god at the beginning of the season for guidance, and genuinely believes that god is with him and that god chose him to help defeat the darkness. he believes it with his whole heart.
and THEN. THEN. then he finds out from the entity that has viciously used, abused, tortured him, possessed him -- a torture so awful that the mere memory of it made his almost lose his mind permanently, the entity that he hates having a connection with more than anything, THAT entity - the DEVIL himself - that god was “never” with him. that this holiness that he thought could finally be his mission, instead of just evil and darkness, was a ruse by the devil to possess him - violate him - yet again. and it shatters him, you can see it (the writing doesn’t really address it, obviously, ever, but the acting does, thankfully).
and then???????????????????? that’s it for a while pretty much????????
but THENNNNN. then. then. they meet god. they meet god. they meet god. and one of the winchester brothers gets a nice manfully teary-eyed speech, replete with sadness and anger and betrayal, at god for abandoning the world and not intervening in any of the suffering that happened. “People – People pray to you. People build churches for you. They fight wars in your name, and you did nothing.”
and it’s dean. not sam. it’s dean!!!!! my god!!!! i literally had to close my laptop and take a walk to process this!!!!!!
and how did they decide sam’s reaction to meeting god? the very same season that he got burned, badly, for still having faith despite everything? he’s fanboying. and that’s it, that’s literally it, that’s literally literally it. it’s like a bad, bad lazy copy-paste of sam meeting the angels in 4x07, except with these writers (buckleming) i’m not sure they’re even familiar enough with s4 canon to badly copy it? so maybe it was an independently bad choice? and 4x07 was fine because following his fanboyishness at meeting castiel etc. they addressed explicitly how sam was disappointed by the idea of god and heaven in the end, and dean cutely encouraging him to keep the faith was all very well-written imo.
like. this is. this is unbelievable.
but then it’s like, well it’s appropriate to give dean a dimensional, nuanced response to meeting god, because it’s not as simple as just saying, well dean never believed in god and didn’t keep the faith like sam, so he’s not going to react at all to meeting god - that’s fair, i agree, because we see dean struggling with faith throughout the show, so it’s all well and good that we should see dean struggle to respond to the idea of god as this deadbeat dad basically. so if there’s only space to give one brother a complex reaction to meeting god (which is a very very stupid premise but just bear with me it’s buckleming), then there’s an argument that it should be dean except
later in the VERY SAME EPISODE, dean gets ANOTHER WHOLE SCENE WITH GOD, which this time is a one-on-one, where he AGAIN gets to give him a speech about  “we're not just some toys you throw away, i think you owe us more than that,” etc. twice!!! two times dean gets to address the fact that god royally fucked up in the same episode!!!! and sam is just fanboying!!! what!!!!!!!!!!!!! you had two spaces in the episode for the brothers to confront god, and you give them BOTH to dean??
like from a writing perspective, the “sam is getting visions from god but surprise it’s actually lucifer” plotline basically got dropped after 11x10 and the introduction of casifer and i guess that’s fine (it’s not but it’s not the thing i’m mad about at this particular moment), but would it not make sense to call it back when they actually meet god? and have that idea of faith in god be sam’s emotional throughline for the season, since it’s BEEN an issue that comes up time and time again in the show? i don’t even know what exactly i think sam’s reaction should have been, but it should have been complex (similar to dean’s first speech), it should have reflected that broken faith that happened with the “it was lucifer all along” reveal in the middle of the season because!!! it’s the same season!!!! and they never addressed it, they never even addressed the “i’m sure it’s god giving me visions and leading me on the righteous path” turning out to be “it’s the devil tricking me.” i’m not even asking for them to remember anything that happened in the rest of the show (i mean it would be good b/c this concept and theme goes way back to season 2) but holy shit.
like, the only aftermath (i’m not even making this shit up i really really really wish i was) of sam’s time trapped with his foremost tormentor and abuser, is sam apologizing to dean for not looking for him in purgatory (which is a whole nother can of worms im not even touching it!! i’m not!! i can’t deal!!). that’s it. that’s it. that’s all. nothing else.
and on top of that, the whole season you have this dean-and-amara connection, which ends up being the resolution to the WHOLE overarching plot of the season while sam just sits in a bar for the finale, and you don’t think that maybe, mayyybeeee, it makes sense to parallel the god-siblings with your main siblings and give some kind of meaningful narrative space for chuck-and-sam? but no dean’s gotta have the connection with amara (which is fine by me!! have nothing against dean having the mytharc) and then ALSO be the one to more meaningfully interact with god while sam just idk. asks him if he needs water. especially when sam’s whole arc in the first half of the season involved his amazingly unwavering faith in god after all this time and all this heartbreak and suffering? unbelievable it’s unbelievable!!!! why do i watch this show!!!!!

There Must Be a Way We Can Do Better
There Must Be a Way We Can Do Better https://ift.tt/YifsHCy by awyn98 "God beckoned John’s soul, requesting insight into what Castiel would do to. He asked: 'what would a good father, the best father, do with unimaginable power?' 'He’d keep people safe,' said John. “He would keep his family together.' 'Thank you John. Some things are going to change soon, I promise.'" This is the story about how the Winchesters repair their relationships and build lives worth living in a post-Chuck world. Jack finds a home, Dean purges his poison, Sam rediscovers his individuality, and John contends with who he is. Heavily inspired by some of my favorite resurrection fics, I wanted to interrogate the similarities between John and Dean Winchester as fathers and how that impacts their relationships with their respective children today. This fic also interrogates many problematic aspects of the Supernatural TV world with realism, including sexism. Rated mature because the characters have to confront complex adult situations and dynamics, ranging from family violence to mental illness/addiction recovery. French Nuns And Newspaper Clippings: The Real Stories That Inspired The Exorcist (1973)
The year is 1632.
We are in a remote commune in Northern France. The situation is bleak: an outbreak of plague has started snatching lives again, and King Louis XIII is ordering the walls around Loudon to be torn down. The locals are more divided than ever.
But things are about to get worse.
Way worse.
The local nuns are beginning to act strange.
It started when one young nun claimed she had a vision of a dead priest. Suddenly, all 17 clergywomen are reporting similar visions. They then begin cussing, shouting, and displaying more and more aggressive behaviour.
17th century nuns do not act like this.
Oh no, this was something unholy. This was demonic possession.
331 years later, this little-known historic tale would feature as one of the main inspirations behind horror’s most iconic movie.
Yep, the film that still gives you nightmares of young girls walking down stairs crustacean-style is based on a true story. But it’s worse than that. It’s based on two tales of alleged possession, several real-life people, and a demon many still worship today.
*nopes the f*ck out*
Tumblr media
Let’s Talk About The Exorcist
Let me just clarify something: the exorcist is not the creepy, possessed ‘lil girl. An exorcist is a person that performs exorcisms - so here, it’s the priests.
The Exorcist was originally a book written by William Peter Blatty. Adapted to a film series (and a TV show) starting 2 years later, they both shared a close plotline. Well, to begin with, anyway.
A statue of a demon is found in an archaeological dig of northern Iraq. The discovery unleashes a mysterious spirit/demon/god called Pazuzu. On the other side of the world, a young girl begins exhibiting strange behaviour. Regan, a typical 12-year-old American girl, refuses to eat or sleep and becomes aggressive. All the while, strange things happen around the house.
The doctors provide no answers to her behaviour, so the mother of the supposedly-ill child turns to religion instead. She finds help in the form of a priest who is experiencing a crisis of faith and consequently doesn’t believe this is demonic possession. But a couple chats with the girl convinces him that yep, she’s bunged up with a demon. So, he asks the bishop if he can perform an exorcism. A priest fresh off that dig in Iraq is shipped over and they get to work. During the final exorcism, one of the priests opts to save the possessed girl by asking the demon to possess them instead. The possessed priest chucks himself out of the window and as he falls to his death, regains his faith in God.
The Exorcist is one of the most famous horror films - if not, the most iconic - of all time, from the traumatic FX makeup of a possessed Regan to sequences ‘80s America wasn’t ready for.
But The Exorcist was not a stand alone film. Contrary to popular belief, what followed was 4 (soon to be 5) sequels ‘n’ prequels that unravelled a deep, dramatic plotline. There’s a reason we don’t hear about them.
In the following films we see the aftermath of Regan’s exorcism and emerging doubts about whether she was in fact really possessed. Political and theological themes rise to the surface, looking deeper at the priests that conducted the exorcism rather than the victim. At the same time we take part in an archeological dig, meet a serial killer, and get a front row seat to a battle during WW2.
It’s a wild ride. But this ride is brimming with reality.
Blatty directly cited inspiration from a number of sources, most famously the 1949 demonic possession of Roland Doe that he first heard when studying at Georgetown University. But he has also claimed that many of the characters who navigated the possession of Regan were based on real people.
Take Father Merrin, the exorcist leading the exorcism: he was based on a British archaeologist that excavated the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls (ancient manuscripts written in Hebrew) had been found.
But the nature of the exorcism that filled out a majority of the film were informed by the work for Father William S Bowdern, a Jesuit priest who exorcised Roland Doe himself.
However, it wasn’t just the mortals that were inspired by real, historic figures.

Pazuzu Is An Actual Worshipped Demon
Without Pazuzu, there would be no possession. Without Pazuzu, there would be no exorcism, nor the need for an exorcist.
We only see the demon in flashes - but these moments inherit a history that takes us back as far as 3500BC. Pazuzu was an ancient Mesopotamian or Assyro-Babylonian god that was the king of the demons of the wind. He brought storms and drought, and although recognised as an evil spirit, he also drove away other evil spirits. He strives to protect us from plagues and misfortunes, and his rival, Lamashtu, causes harm to mother and baby during childbirth.
He is known as both a demon and a god, but in The Exorcist is recognised more as the former.
We do catch a couple glimpses of Pazuzu, but we only see his face clearly when he begins to take over young Regan. The pasty white face and blood red eyes don’t fit ancient lore: Pazuzu is traditionally depicted as having the head of a lion, the body of a human, the talons of an eagle, a pair of wings, a scorpion’s tail, and a ‘serpentine penis’ (I can’t work out if this is the penis of a snake or a penis that looks like a snake and like I don’t wanna know k).
The Exorcism Of Roland Doe
It’s one of the most famous cases of possession - and we don’t even know who the victim actually was.
In 1949, American newspapers began to pick up on the story of an exorcism in Maryland. A teenage boy was at the centre of mysterious poltergeist activity after the death of his spiritualist aunt. She was the one that first introduced him to an ouija board.
After typical paranormal activity took place, priests were summoned to exorcism him. During these exorcisms, furniture began to move by itself, the boy began to attack priests with rogue bedsprings, he began to speak in an unknown voice, the mattress he lay on began to shake, and words like “evil” and “hell” began to appear in scratches upon his body.
It was a very similar state to the one Regan was in during The Exorcist.
Roland Doe (a pseudonym, obviously) to this day has remained anonymous, and - if alive - he would be 86 years old.
Despite this being the most known case of alleged possession - rivalling only that of Anneliese Michel - it has received a large dose of skepticism and debunking. The supposed location of the exorcism and some personal details of Roland Doe have been contested. Plus, many believe Doe was actually a spoiled, attention-seeking bully who simply repeated Latin phrases heard at school in order to create some elaborate prank.
Regardless of whether it was real or not, it is a landmark moment in paranormal history.
And 300 years before a 14 year old lutheran began to growl Latin at his family members, a group of women began to show similar signs of a haunting.

The Possessed Affair Of Loudon And Aix-en-Provence
I’ve already introduced you to the possessed nuns of Loudon. But it turns out The Exorcist also took inspiration in another French convent: Aix-en-Provence.
The nuns of Loudon pinned their possession on the demon Asmodai and gave a number of different answers as to who summoned it. Some claimed it was either a priest named Peter or Zabulon (a biblical figure). But a week after this, a man named Urbain Grandier who had amassed a lot of power and a strained reputation in the community was considered the culprit.
Soon after the nuns first exhibited strange behaviour, they were hidden away and the symptoms stopped.
The accusations levelled against Grandier were clearly inspired by political motives as he had publicly attacked the cardinal’s work and the taking down of the wall. But locals say he would appear at random in the convent with no one sure as to how he got inside. It was even claimed that he had made a pact with the devil - from which a physical contract was supposedly uncovered - and that he had attended witch’s sabbat.
The priest was executed for sorcery and given ‘the boot’ (a method of torture).
Loudon and Aix-en-Provence are considered cases that fit in well with wider witch trials taking place across western Europe in the 17th century. The possession of the Ursuline nuns of Aix-en-Provence were similar to that of Loudon - but were just a tad more mental.
20 years before Grandier was convicted, a young woman, Madeleine de Demandolx, confessed to the superior of the convent that she had been intimate with the local priest. She was sent away to Aix-en-Provence to get some distance but soon began to do some rather out-of-character things.
She would have convulsions and soon the other nuns began to do the same. It appeared to be contagious.
But things got hella weird when the nuns gathered together in a holy cave that Mary Magdalene was meant to have once lived in (Sainte-Baume) to be exorcised. Instead of just shaking, they all tried to outdo each other in symptoms of possession.
Once would cuss fervently; another would speak in a deep, demonic voice.
A political story soon unravelled full of accusations, executions, and even Madeleine being released from jail at 77 for her alleged witchcraft.

Genre: Angst Word Count: 2.4k Summary: Aftermath with Soobin
Tumblr media
“Soobin, what are you doing?” Yeonjun asked as he watched the taller man stand at the foot of his bed. “Let’s go to the arcade.” However, Soobin just stood there with his back facing Yeonjun.
“Man, let’s go. We haven’t gone out in ages.” Yeonjun’s hand landed on Soobin’s shoulder before it was sharply shrugged off. Surprised by this, Yeonjun walked over to the side of the bed. He could see Soobin’s face was impassive. However, before he could say anything, Soobin’s hands reached for the bed sheets and quickly pulled on them. This resulted to the blankets and pillows landing on the floor.
“Soobin what the hell?” Yeonjun said as he watched Soobin take off the pillow cases and chuck them into the laundry hamper at the side of the room along with the bed sheets and blankets.
“I need to do laundry.” Soobin finally spoke before carrying the washing load and walking off to the washing machine. Yeonjun just stood there in confusion before sitting on a chair to watch his friend half hazardly throw all the contents into the washing machine.
“So...no arcade? You’re just gonna do laundry?” Yeonjun lazily said as he leaned back with his hands behind his head.
“Yes. I can’t stand it anymore.” This perked Yeonjun’s ears as he watched Soobin search for the laundry detergent.
“Your dirty sheets? When was the last time you washed them? Soobin that’s gross if you haven’t washed them in months.” Yeonjun replied as he faked a gagging sound trying to lift the mood. However, stopping when he watched Soobin open the cupboard and shutting it quickly before saying “Do you have detergent I can use at yours?”
Dumb founded, Yeonjun just nodded. Before he could say something, Soobin was out the door. No doubt going over to Yeonjun’s apartment two doors down to search for the detergent.
Soobin hurriedly punched in Yeonjun’s code before making a beeline to find the detergent, it didn’t take him long to find it. He studied the powder before exiting empty handed. The man returned back to his apartment to find Yeonjun making himself a bowl of cereal.
“Where’s my detergent?” Yeonjun asked when he saw Soobin walk in empty handed.
“I’m going out to buy my own detergent.” Soobin spoke as he went to get changed into more presentable clothes that wasn’t his pajamas.
Ten minutes later Soobin came out wearing a pair of sweatpants and a t shirt. What Yeonjun was more curious about was the shirts and hoodies Soobin held in his arms. “What’s with all the clothes Soobin?” Yeonjun asked as he continued to eye the contents in the man’s arms. “Don’t tell me you also haven't washed your clothes as well.”
“You’re right, they need to be washed.” Soobin replied as he threw them into the washing machine before making his way to the door.
“Ok look, I don’t know what you’re thinking but what the hell is going on? I looked in your cupboards when you were gone and you still have a good amount of detergent. Also I know for a fact that I also have detergent, I just bought it yesterday. So what’s up with you huh? Why are you acting so weird about it?” Yeonjun spoke as he held onto Soobin’s wrist to prevent him from leaving.
“Yeonjun, let go of me. It’s none of your business.” Soobin spat back as he tried to pull his arm back.
“No Soobin, it is my business. You know, Beomgyu, Taehyun, Heuning and I have been worried about you lately. What’s up with you man? You’ve been super quiet lately and irritated. You barely come to see us let alone step out of your apartment.” Yeonjun spoke as Soobin just looked at him with blank set eyes. An idea lit up in Yeonjun’s mind, making him sigh and mentally shake his head. Of course. “Is this about Y/N?”
Soobin’s eyes finally showed a hint of emotion in them. Was that regret? Sorrow? Yeonjun didn’t have much time to tell what it was as Soobin looked away before looking back into Yeonjun’s eyes with a cold look in his eyes. Bingo.
“Shut up. Don’t say her name.” Soobin’s voice seemed cold and hard.
“Ok fine. Then what’s with this whole laundry fiasco right now?” Yeonjun said as he rolled his eyes.
“It’s none of your business.”
“Oh my fucking god” Yeonjun said in frustration as he scrunched up his face. “Are you trying to busy yourself because of Y/N?”
“Shut up. I told you not to say her name.”
“Why? What’s so bad about me mentioning Y/N huh? Answer my question about the laundry or talk about Y/N.” Yeonjun challenged his friend.
“I told you to shut up. I told you to not say her name. I told you to mind your own business.” Soobin’s voice seemed to be leaking with venom as he grabbed onto Yeonjun’s shirt.
“Or is the reason why you won’t talk about the laundry is because it does have something to do with Y/N? It’s been four months.” Yeonjun raised a brow as Soobin’s grip became tighter. Yeonjun knew Soobin wouldn’t hit him, he was all talk no walk.
Boy was Yeonjun wrong as Soobin laid a punch to his cheek.
“Soobin what the FUCK?!” Yeonjun shouted as he caressed his cheek before walking over to the freezer and grabbing a pack of frozen peas to treat the bruise that would inevitably form. “Fuck it you know what, ok fine. Take all your frustration out on me. But that won’t bring Y/N back. It won’t change anything.”
Yeonjun closed his eyes as he expected another blow from Soobin but nothing came. He opened his eyes to see Soobin on his knees looking defeated.
“I know.” Soobin uttered finally feeling the knots in his heart come undone. “I know! Everything smells like her. Everyday I smell her scent in pillow, in the blankets, in my bed. I smell her on my shirts and hoodies as well. I can’t even use the detergent because the smell reminds me of her.  Hell sometimes I also feel like I can smell her shampoo whenever I walk into the shower room or smell her cooking whenever I’m in the kitchen. But honestly I didn’t mind it because it still felt like she was here. But I know she’s gone and now it feels like I’m going crazy.”
Yeonjun could only watch in silence as Soobin finally let everything that he had been bottling up for the past few months out.
“You know sometimes I hear her laugh or her humming. But the thing that I remember the most is the things she said before leaving. It’s like a broken record constantly replaying in my mind. She sounded so hurt and defeated. I don’t know why I didn’t stop her from walking out the door that night. But it still plays in my mind like a film set on repeat. I still remember her face looking so rejected. I know that it’s all my fault. I don’t know why I treated her like shit and pushed her away. She was amazing and wonderful, always supporting me and making sure I was ok. I want to kick myself every day for letting her go.”
“Then why did you treat her like shit? Why did you let her go?”
“I don’t know why-” However Soobin didn’t get to finish his sentence as he felt Yeonjun’s. hand on his shoulder.
“You know why. You know exactly why you treated her like that and let her go. Don’t lie.” It was now Yeonjun’s turn to look at Soobin’s face blankly while Soobin tried to read Yeonjun’s eyes. Letting out a big breath, Soobin sat on the floor and pulled his knees to his chest.
“I-I don’t know. I guess I thought that being comfortable meant that the relationship was boring. I got so use to everything and took them for granted. I know I should have talked to her about how I was feeling but I just couldn’t.”
“So instead, you left her in the dark about your feelings? Did your feelings start fading for her?” Yeonjun pressed on as he sat next to his friend.
“Honestly, I thought my feelings for her were gone and I guess that’s why I let her leave. And when I thought the heavy feeling in my chest would finally go, it didn’t. It just got worse and hurt. Like a lot. I don’t know what to do anymore. It’s like everything just looks so bland and bleak to me now. I still love her. I can’t believe I only figured that out when she left.”
“Look, I’m glad you’re finally letting this all out but not to stomp on your pity party or anything, why don’t you try to get her back. You obviously still have feelings for her. Maybe if you explained everything to her and apologise, she might understand. And you know what, who knows. You might get back together.” Yeonjun said as he patted Soobin’s back.
Yeonjun’s words seem to echo in his head as Soobin laid in bed that night. He turned over and let his hand roam around the soft, empty space. At times like this, he imagined you were sleeping right next to him.
“Goodnight.” He would say to the empty room before trying his best to sleep soundly without flashes of you popping up in his mind. However, that night he dreamt of a memory of you and him.
“Babe! Why are you covering your eyes?” He smiled as he watched you lace your fingers together in front of your eyes.
“It’s scary! I can’t believe you’re making me watch this.” You replied back with a pout.
“What? You don’t like it?” Soobin teased as you continued to scowl at him from your seat. “Come here.” He motioned to his open arms on the couch. Gladly walking over to his arms, you turn to face his chest instead of facing the screen in front of you. This seemed to make him laugh as he watched your adorable expression.
“Y/N why aren’t you facing the screen?” Soobin attempted to ask in a serious tone but failing miserably before laughing even more as you stuck your tongue out at him.
“Oh I don’t know. I wonder why.” You sarcastically say before jumping a little when a loud jump scare came on, the sound making you even more scared. He held you tighter against his chest as he continued to laugh at your cuteness. “Soobin please can we watch something else?” You pout and try your best with your puppy dog eyes.
Soobin could never deny those eyes. His heart always melted everything. He kissed your forehead before reaching for the remote and switching the tv off. “I don’t feel like watching anything anymore. I just want to cuddle.” He spoke as he began to comb through your hair, earning a hum as a reply
Soobin knew at this moment that he loved you. He truly loved you and if he could, he wanted to stay like this with you forever. The warm feeling he got in his chest as he felt your heartbeat close to him and the butterflies he got every time you looked at him with those loving eyes of yours, he loved it. He loved you. Soobin knew he would treasure you forever.
“Y/N-” He stopped himself when he heard your soft snores and just chuckled as he shook his head. Yawning a little, he lifted you up and took you to his bed before wiping off your makeup with some wipes he always kept for you whenever you wanted to stay over.
He knew you hated sleeping in your jeans so he opened his drawer that only contained your clothes and got you changed in your pajamas before tucking you into bed with a kiss. As he was also getting dressed in his pajamas, he thought about the possibility of asking you to move in with him. You already had a special drawer at his with your clothes in it, you had your toothbrush in his bathroom for whenever you stayed the night and other accessories and knick knacks in his apartment. Also you were here every other day. It seemed like you were already living here anyway so why not save money on rent and move into his apartment?
Soobin got into bed right next to you, turning to face you with a smile on his face before sleep finally greeted him.
The following morning, Soobin stood in the shower thinking about his conversation with Yeonjun and the dream he had the previous night. He knew he was an asshole but he was going to make it up to you. He wanted you back. And this time he would show you how much you truly meant in his life.
Feeling some new found energy, Soobin quickly got changed and went over to eat some breakfast before he would visit Yeonjun to ask the man for some advise as to how he could win you over again. He checked the fridge and realised that there was little to no food in there. Letting out a sigh, he grabbed his wallet and put on his shoes before heading out to go to the convenience store downstairs.
As he sat down to eat his rice ball his eyes spotted a familiar figure outside. Her hair was a little bit shorter than it was last time he saw her but he knew it was Y/N. It seemed like time stopped as he continued to watch you from afar, also feeling like the air from his lungs had been knocked out. In the morning sun, you simply looked stunning as always.
Soobin stood up to walk over to you, heart beating rapidly in his chest. As he walked outside, he stopped at the sight of you waving to someone. His eyes followed the direction in which you were waving, he was met with the sight of a tall, handsome man in a white shirt and a pair of jeans. Soobin watched as the man got closer and hugged you.
Just as he was about to tear his eyes away from the scene, his eyes met yours. He felt his heart stop as you continued to stare at him until you broke your embrace with the man. Who was that he wondered. Soobin just stood there frozen as you walked past him, briefly meeting your eyes once again. And for the second time, he watched you walk away without saying anything.

current rewatch is mid s14, and this morning I watched Lebanon, 14.13. And I have some thoughts. Probably thoughts I’ve already had, but they hit different now...
Dean smashed that pearl, and I really do think that he got his stated wish-- Michael out of his head. After all, none of the last 14 years ever happened, post wish, and the door to the alternate universe was never opened, Michael never came through... none of it. It’s like their entire history was rewritten.
And we know Chuck was the writer all along. But we also know how Chuck used free will and choice to manipulate them their entire lives. It was always their choices, only none of their choices were GOOD, you know? He laid down the game, set them on the board, and controlled and limited their choices at every turn.
Just like the false choice Dean was presented with in every repeat of the loop in Rocky’s bar in 14.10-- every day when the realtor came in asking Dean to sell the bar, forcing him to choose to stay there, unwittingly trapped in that loop by Michael. “Living the dream.” What if he HAD chosen to sell? What if Michael’s little bubble of a world in his head broke down, and Dean stopped participating in the charade? Would the entire illusion have shattered? Would Michael have had to step in and reinforce the illusion in some way? Because as long as Dean kept “choosing” to refuse to sell the bar, he was choosing to stay in the illusion, in the false reality trapped in that loop in his own mind.
The pearl wish was effectively no different, just on a much larger scale.
He chose to make the wish, and the pearl delivered it. Michael was gone from his head, at least for a little while. The world fundamentally changed, and even Chuck’s story going back to the beginning of the series had to change with it. The narrative of the entire series was erased, including Chuck’s involvement in all of it. Which seems... impossible, to erase the will of God when he has literally been writing their story from the start.
Why would bringing John from the past have stopped the angels from manipulating events to bring about the apocalypse? It wasn’t JOHN they needed to break seals, it was DEAN. Why would the demons have simply left Sam at Stanford to complete his law degree? Why would they have allowed Dean to get out of sacrificing himself, just because John wasn’t there to sacrifice himself first?
We know the angels (and demons) had been playing a very long con to start the apocalypse, since long before Sam was born (remember Azazel at the convent in 1972, in 4.22? so do I). And all of that preparation-- everything that had happened before 2003-- still happened, before the pearl wish brought John to 2019. Cupids still worked their asses off to unite John and Mary so that Sam and Dean could be born, to fulfill eons of prophecy that they would be the true vessels to Michael and Lucifer to bring about the apocalypse as God willed it.
Do they mean to suggest that after all of that-- the entire history of the universe that had been leading to this, and everything in Chuck’s story-- that just moving John out of his timeline three years before the big showdown was scheduled to begin would leave all of Heaven and Hell shrugging like it hadn’t been their sole mission for years to set this up for the apocalypse?
That’s asinine, honestly.
I don’t think-- any more than Dean “choosing” not to sell Rocky’s bar was-- that the pearl wish was ever actually a “choice.” Because Chuck would’ve never tolerated any of it. He would not have allowed that choice to stand. He had too big of a story to tell.
Which is incredible to me now, because if that was the case, and even that pearl wish was a false choice-- one Sam and especially Dean could never allow to stand for their own reasons-- then the finale makes no possible sense unless viewed the exact same way. Everything that happened after Jack took Chuck’s power was still a function of Chuck’s hand in the narrative, just like the pearl, just like Rocky’s bar. Choosing to renew their commitment to playing the game, over and over again. And that’s just so depressing to me.
I still think this is the most important exchange in the entire episode:
Sam: Once we send Dad back... it's like none of this ever happened. He -- He just goes back to -- to... to being Dad. Dean: You saying you wish things would be different? Sam: Don't you? Can you imagine -- Dad in the past, knowing then what he knows now? I... I think it would be nice. Dean: Yeah. I used to think that, too. But, uh... I mean, look, we've been through some tough times. There's no denying that. And for the longest time, I blamed Dad. I mean, hell, I blamed Mom, too, you know? I was angry. But say we could send Dad back knowing everything. Why stop there? Why not send him even further back and let some other poor sons of bitches save the world? But here's the problem. Who does that make us? Would we be better off? Well, maybe. But I got to be honest -- I don't know who that Dean Winchester is. And I'm good with who I am. I'm good with who you are. 'Cause our lives -- they're ours. And maybe I'm just too damn old to want to change that.
Because yes, this is awesome! This is Dean finally accepting who he is, both because of the life he’s led AND despite it! He’s made his peace with himself, built a family of choice around him (in direct defiance of the “wife and kids” life John would’ve chosen for him and that he thought he wanted for years to please his father), and he’s happy with it, and with himself and the people he loves.
Only this is functionally no different than him refusing to sign the bill of sale on Rocky’s bar. This is Dean recommitting to his role in Chuck’s story. And at the same time he believes in this moment that this is him choosing his own life, really what he’s choosing is to return to the role in the story that Chuck had cast for him. And isn’t that horrifying? Does this not explain WHY he was so absolutely broken by everything that would come after, and especially by the revelation that he’d never really had a real choice in his life?
Chuck would go on to kill Mary, manipulate him into trying to kill Jack, leading to the breakdown of his relationship with Cas, and his own feelings of purposelessness that would drive the entire plot of s15. And then at the end, instead of being allowed to explore this new world of free will, for Cas to have been brought back one last time in defiance of the story Chuck had always intended for him, too, Dean succumbs completely to “destiny” and “fate” and had “no other choice” but to fulfill Chuck’s narrative at last. And I will never, ever be over that.
So my advice is to take 15.20 and crush it like Sam crushed the pearl. Because it’s just the culmination of Chuck’s false choices, and the antithesis of freedom from the narrative they should’ve had in the aftermath.

The Aftermath
-1-
"Fuck, this is boring" Dean mumbled to the open field and drank his cold beer. He was leaning on the Impala parked on the side of the road. He'd been in heaven some months now, and already he had traveled through heaven's version of the U.S. twice now, but without the things that go bump in the night, without Sammy, and without Cas he felt kind of pointless and ...lonely. He wasn't though, not really, he regularly went to mom and dad's, and Bobby's, and to Ellen and Jo's, and to other people that were already there, but the place certainly lacked something. The most emotion he'd gotten was when he fought his way into Angel's HQ looking for Cas and Jack, he didn’t find them so he coerced a couple of angels to regularly inform him about how Sammy was, and whatever little they knew about what Cas and Jack were up to.
He closed his eyes and prayed aloud "Cas, man, I know you're busy with Jack and... stuff... but if you could come by sometime, just to let me know you're okay, just for a second... come on, buddy, I'm at highway XX at the XX marker", he finished his beer much slowlier than needed and climbed into the car, with his head on the steering wheel, he waited.
Every day he prayed to Cas, he told him what was going on with the family, or what he was up to, a memory from the good old days, or a random thought, and where he was, always where he was... just in case. Sometimes he was angry, demanding, sometimes he was almost pleading, the sadness and loneliness seeping out in his words, but he never talked about Cas's last moments on Earth, he couldn't talk about that, wouldn’t even think about that. He usually also sent a little prayer to the kid, some stupid story to make him laugh, or a memory of the few they shared, those prayers were shorter and easier, left him feeling a bit lighter.
Every day he had no answer.
When enough time had passed he snorted, turned the key, and started off. Some miles ahead he turned on the stereo, Metallica started playing loudly, but he wasn't singing along, his face was tight, jaw clenched, his soul felt heavy, hope was a bitch that got him every time. "Hello, Dean", a voice strained through the music. The car swiveled left then right crazily fast as Dean forced control over the steering wheel. "Cas" he breathed out.
Hastily he thrust the car to a stop on the side of the road and threw himself to the angel on his side, "Cas, finally!", he said and held on tightly, the angel returned the hug awkwardly, "I've been praying to you. Everyday! Where have you been?", he said when he finally let go, his relief had morphed to fury now. The angel looked sheepish, "I know. We've been working. It's taking longer than expected", Cas's eyes diverted to the back seat and he followed his gaze, "Jack!", Dean said and put a gentle hand on the boy's head, "I've been praying to you, too", the boy smiled, "I heard you, you made me laugh", his smile was as wide as ever, but there was something else there too, something heavy, concern? Dean wondered. "Ok, what's up?", he asked, "what do you mean?", Jack’s confusion was blatant on his face, he was a god now but in many ways, he was still just a kid, their kid. He looked at Cas, "you are not here on a social call, just tell me what’s going on", Dean's voice was serious now, back to business, his eyes half-rolled, but there was the faintest shadow of a smirk on his face, he was glad to be needed and even more glad to see them. Finally.
Cas lifted his hand and snapped his fingers, "what the hell, Cas?", Dean said, but then he noticed where they were, the bunker, "Sammy?", his voice was low, longing, then louder as he stood up from his chair, looking around, "Sam!", "He is not here, Dean. We are in heaven still", Dean swirled to face Cas, "Where is him? Where is Sam?", "He is on a vampire case in Atlanta, he is fine. This is not about Sam. I- I thought a familiar place would be better", "Better for what?", Cas looked at Jack, then again at Dean, "As you know, heaven is short on angels at the moment. We've been trying to bring them back from the empty", now Dean was pissed, "Come again? You want to resurrect those assholes who wanted me and my brother dead? And you and Jack, they wanted you dead too, Cas!", "Not all of them, Dean", "Yeah? Like who?", Cas looked at Jack and then down to his hands before sitting down and answering, "Balthazar, Hannah, Samandriel, Gabriel, Michael,...", Cas said and Dean started to understand, they were the closest Castiel had to angel friends, he must be feeling guilty for their deaths, suddenly, Cas lifted his head and gazed at Dean, the fuck? Dean thought. Cas was staring at him meaningfully, but the message wasn't getting through, after a few seconds of silence, Cas said, "Anna".
Dean tried to hold Cas’s stare questioningly, but the angel stood up and walked toward a bookcase. After an uncomfortable while, Jack said, "Can you help us?", looking at each of them in turn. Damn, he'd forgotten the kid was there. “What? uh, I, uh, what can I do about this?”, he looked at Cas for the answer, but he was still leaning with his hand on a bookcase. “We can’t get in”, Jack said. He explained that he was no longer able to get beings out of The Empty, nor enter it himself. He didn’t even know if he was able to wake them. The Empty must have done something to block him since he got Castiel out. “I want to ask Chuck about The Empty”, he finished, “You what?”, Dean was exasperated, this was not what he intended when he asked them to come by, “I told you it’s a bad idea”, Cas said finally. “But he doesn’t have powers anymore, he can’t do anything to us”, Jack said, it was clear he’d already had this argument with Cas, “And what makes you think that he will help us? He can trick you. He will trick you”, “That’s why we need you, he won’t be able to trick you, and I can make him talk, he’s human now, humans talk”, “You will not do that!”, Castiel and Dean said at the same time, “That’s not who you are, Jack”, Cas added, “You won’t ever do that!”, Dean said and stalked out of the room.
Without thinking, he went to baby, he was so used to the quiet of the road he craved it whenever something rubbed him the wrong way, but he’d waited so long for them to come by, he wasn’t leaving. He walked back inside, directly to his old room, everything was the same. He wondered what had Sammy done with his things. Had he given his room to another hunter? Somehow he doubted that. Maybe he took it for himself, it would be a mess by now. The thought brought a smile to his face. He laid on his memory mattress and closed his eyes. The thought of Jack torturing someone was disturbing but silly. Jack wouldn’t do that, he probably wasn’t even talking about that, it was just Dean’s own experience that had made him angry, the shame of the kid finding out about it. He should go talk to them, he decided, but in a while, he’d missed this bed.
Thoughts came by unbidden now. The awkward way Cas hugged him back, the pointed look, the way he said “Anna” and immediately walked away, what was that about? Was it- was it jealousy? He hadn’t allowed himself to think about Cas’s words before The Empty took him, but they were there, in the back of his head, “I love you, Dean”, he’d said, what did that mean, exactly? Cas had said those words before, to them when close to death, but that time it had felt different. He tried to remember, the exact words, “happiness isn’t in having but in being, in saying it, I love you, Dean”, and The Empty had been summoned because Cas was finally happy because he loved Dean and told him. Nope! No! That wasn’t it. He meant something else and was too ‘Cas’ to explain it properly and Dean too dumb to get it. It must have been something else. Not that. Not that. “Dean”, a soft voice called from the door, and Dean jumped so hard he nearly fell off the bed.
“Dean, I’m sorry. Were you sleeping?”, how long’s he been standing there? can he read my mind? does he know? “Eh, uh, I, no, I, no, I was thinking… about Jack and Chuck and all that”, “Ohh. Are you ok? About hell - Jack, didn’t mean to- he doesn’t know the details”, “I know, Cas, it’s fine, I’m fine, I’ll come out in a moment. We’ll figure it out”. Cas seemed to analyze him for a bit and decide he was fine, “There’s something else”, he said and looked at the floor, “Can I come in?”. “Uhm, yeah, yeah, come in, Cas”. He shut the door and sit on the bed next to Dean, “What’s- What’s up?”, “Dean, I’ve been struggling with this for a while. The reason why I’ve been avoiding you is that I am ashamed”, Dean swallowed hard, here we go, damn it, “I’ve failed you, Dean, I’ve failed Jack. I’ve been trying to help him figure out how to restore heaven but I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t want to become what I was the last time I failed you”, what? “What?”. “You know the things I did, Dean, when I took God’s place, I told Jack everything, but he says it’s not the same. He says that’s not what I’m doing and who I am anymore, but I- I don’t know. What if he’s wrong?”
At that moment his heart broke for Cas. He sat up and put his hand on Cas’s back. He’d known that he regretted the things he had done, but he never knew how deep his actions had affected him and shattered his confidence in his own decisions. Cas feared a bit of power would corrupt him again. “Cas, no. You always wanted what’s best for heaven. Even if you made some mistakes along the way, Jack’s right, you are not that person, uh, angel, anymore, the fact that you’re worried about it, proves it”, “I don’t know if I’m making the right choices, teaching him the right things”, “You are, Cas, you are good and you want to do what’s right, and Jack’s the same way, that’s why he chose you in the first place”. Cas lifted his head and looked at him, he’d never seen the angel so human, he had the impulse to hug him but settled for some pats on the back. “Thank you, Dean”, he said and left.

Dick and Tim – brothers in arms
Tumblr media
So I got this ask. And it’s a good thing I got it the first night of my summer vacation, and the weather hasn't been great ;-)
Tumblr media
Once I started digging for comics with both Tim and Dick, I found several that I've never read. I got the impression Anonymous would like a complete list, so I just kept going. But this means I don't know if they even interact in some of the books, or if they make "blink and you miss it" guest appearances.
I'm sorry if they, by any chance, was asking for reading recommendations for good Dick and Tim moments and not The Complete List... Looking at the number of comics here that I haven't read/can't remember, I'm not really qualified to answer that. But if I had to try, I would mention:

(Bruce is accused of murder and refuses to defend himself, and eventually escapes and intends to drop the identity of Bruce Wayne. Dick refuses to believe that Bruce can be a murderer and it causes a bit of friction with Tim.)

I'm going to skip post-Flashpoint because, well, there's hardly anything there. The worst thing with Flashpoint/New 52, in my opinion, was that it destroyed relationships between characters who used to be family, but ended up hardly knowing or even liking each other. :-(

Detective Comics #975. By James Tynion IV, art Álvaro Martínez and Raúl Fernández.
The only panel worth mentioning with Dick and Tim is from DC #975. Yes, it's sad – one of the best brotherly relationships in DC turned into dust. Here's to hoping future writers will pick up on their wonderful dynamic at some time.
