We went to see Phantom Madrid last weekend!! ❤️ Geronimo Rauch was amazing!! I'm going to write my thoughts on the whole performance under a cut for those interested 😊

I am going to be comparing it to the London version for reference since it's the only one I've seen live. I think my first impression was that It was better than I expected it to be! I read opinions about the Trieste production and I was a little worried but I found that I enjoyed a lot of the things I've seen being criticized.

The stage spinning around was awesome and added so much depth to scenes and made transitions very smooth. The backdrops were very nicely done!

As for costumes I think they were pretty good with the exception of Aminta's dress and the Masquerade costumes being kind of underwhelming.

The singing was good overall, although the translated lyrics are weird sometimes. The main songs translate well but some others become very confusing in Spanish, some wording seems forced and some notes are slightly altered to fit the phrases. Raoul is very calm and soft, maybe a little too much at times, Christine is very neutral and simple. Geronimo was amazing tho no notes!

Now the acting! I have opinions 😫 This show was very Christine and Raoul centric to such an extent that it flattened the plot for me 😬 Christine seems scared and disgusted from start to finish so there is no conflict in her character. She is never torn, she recoils from the phantom's touch during Music of the Night, and during Final Lair she sings the "pitiful creature of darkness" lines looking at Raoul the whole time backing away towards the phantom and steeling herself and only turns reluctantly at the last second to kiss Erik. She comes back to return his ring and just leaves it on the organ stool as soon as he turns around because she's scared to get close to him, when he sings "I love you" she shakes her head at him 🥹 like girl please give us something!!

Geronimo's phantom is a delight tho!! He whimpers, crawls, cries, screams, pants, it's great. He's acting his butt off and is the highlight of the show for me.

A thing that I really liked was in the end when the mob comes Erik is curled up in his bed crying and Madame Giry finds him there and tells him to hide under the covers and leads the mob away from him, I thought it was sweet and transitions into LND nicely.

OH also!! I really enjoyed the Phantom swinging on a rope across the stage during the ballet and Buquet's hanging, it's so good!! the flaming chandelier scene is also good!! in Final Lair they actually hang Raoul in the air which was very nice too! (and with his shirt still on) and even the angel wings and flying that I've seen people hating on was honestly so cool. It didn't look as goofy as I expected it to, it's very smooth and the lighting makes it scary, he casts thunder and flies!! the wings are not very visible since the scene is very dark. The light work was super good in general.

Masquerade and Don Juan were a bit of a let down, much simpler but not bad. I think my main issues were about the choices for Christine really 🤔 and I think some scenes needed more movement, especially the roof one (they couldn't move because they are sitting on a ledge)

The show in general feels a bit one note compared to the West End version but it was good!! I'm just nitpicky 😂 also I want Geronimo's autograph!! I love him 😭

Hi! Love your TikTok translations, they help me learn so much. Sorry if you've answered this before already, but as a language student myself, I was just curious about how you got so good at Chinese - is it a native language for you, or what's your background in using/studying it? Thank you!

I think I answered this a long time ago (like 2021 maybe) so I will just tell it again. It's kind of a longwinded boring post that's very self-centric (😬) and also probably not going to have any helpful advice to the average language learner, so I'm going to put it under a read more!

Background

My family is Chinese so it's my heritage language. I did learn it before English as a baby but then forgot a lot of it. My parents speak Chinese at home but I always replied in English growing up. Part of this is because I have a twin sibling and because we spoke English at school, we also started speaking English to each other at home.

We went to Chinese school on Sundays growing up (this is like a community/cultural school; it included other courses like math, Chinese dance, art, pre-SATs (lol), etc, depending on who in the community was available to teach), but I didn't really pay attention so my Chinese was pretty shit for a long time—like broken conversational level shitty, although I have always had a strong comprehension ability. My dad's side is from Sichuan so I grew up understanding a bit of Sichuanese.

The beginning of my "studying"

I don't actually have much of a background studying Chinese in a formal setting. I took Chinese 101-103 in college as part of a language requirement (specifically chose to start with 101 so I could relearn basics, even though my teachers kept offering to place me in higher levels). I really credit my Chinese 101 prof who was also the college's calligraphy teacher for making us focus on brush stroke order and recognising characters and understanding semantic components, which is something other profs did not emphasise (they were more focused on building conversational skills).

Anyway, that was only my freshman year of college because I ended up changing majors and not having a language requirement anymore (boo). I continued studying a bit of Chinese in the intervening years, but I am not a very disciplined person when it comes to self-study, so much of it was just translating song lyrics for my own amusement. During this time, I also started watching some cdramas, but mostly just Chinese web shows, which maybe helped? (I don't think I was watching enough for it to really make a difference).

Fast forward a couple years to 2020 and I started watching more cdramas during lockdowns, including watching 成化十四年 (The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty), which I was super invested in for about two years (this used to be a fandom blog lol). Basically, hyperfixation led me to rapidly improve my Chinese; I started translating a few behind-the-scenes videos for fandom friends. In order to keep up with Chinese fans and gain access to more material about the show, I started venturing onto Chinese sites such as weibo, bilibili, and eventually, douyin, which I downloaded around October of 2020 (so this was 6 months into my increased interest into Chinese things). At first, I translated a couple of douyins to share with fandom friends as I had done with behind-the-scenes materials, but for whatever reason I felt like some of the videos I wanted to translate would just be annoying to spam into the chat... I couldn't figure out a way to connect them to the blorbos, but I still wanted to translate them, so I started posting them here on tumblr. That's how my douyin translations started out. This was the height of covid-19 related sinophobia, too, so at some point I started realising how important it was to continue translating douyins, and that motivated me to continue even beyond it just being a fun thing to do. On that topic, it was through this blog that I realised how poorly understood China and Chinese people are, specifically on this site. I feel like that has changed a lot, or maybe that's just a comment on insular online spaces, but I have to think not; since I started translating douyins, I've seen a noticeable decrease in sinophobic comments and messages (not that I don't still get them, but it's lessened), and I think that's also thanks in great part to other blogs on here that were posting/have started to post more content from China to help increase exposure to tumblr users.

Improving

In any case, in the beginning, I did a lot of translations mostly by ear rather than reading captions because my Chinese reading wasn't that good.

It's kind of slowly improved with time and repetitive reading, and over the last three years now, I've also gone through periods of taking notes and actively seeking out some vocab lists or grammar explanations... but it usually comes in the process of trying to translate something. My motivations in "studying" (it's more like "figuring out") Chinese is largely based on the simple desire to know what people are talking about... what they're joking about... what they're ranting about and roasting. Related: I also started reading fanfics in Chinese about a year ago. Some fics have been easier to read than others, but some of the best ones I've read were also the ones that challenged me the most, and which I had to take a lot of notes on while reading. I'll admit! There have been times where I just took a fic and dumped that sucker in google translate and have it read the Chinese to me, so I could just listen to it like a podfic. But even so, I would take notes, because I think my improvements in Chinese are heavily connected to my Chinese literacy.

Reading douyin comments and forums on douban or comment sections on bilibili has been one of the main ways that I've picked up on common phrases and characters. I often write things down but I do so more as a muscle memory practice, because I have never really been the sort of person who reads back notes (this was also how I studied in school, iirc). Branching out and translating things that are written in formal or non-colloquial styles is also a way I challenge myself from time to time, and I do like to look up the etymology of Chinese characters from time to time because it helps me pick up patterns of semantics and phonetic hints when I'm reading (this makes it easier to guess what a character might mean or sound like, even if you've never seen it before). Overall, translation has been the great learning tool for me. I think maybe it comes down to learning styles? I have always learned better from trying to teach others, and I feel like translation works a similar muscle in the mind; translation is about figuring out ways to efficiently communicate a message, and in order to do so, you must be able to grasp the essence of what it is you're relaying.

All this said... And to try and return to your original ask after all my usual Wawa rambling... I actually don't think my Chinese is that good, lol. In fact, there's probably people who follow this blog who are studying Chinese in a more conventional and methodical manner whose Chinese is objectively much better than mine 🤷🏻‍♂️ I mean, if you crunch the numbers, I have really only be self-"studying" for three years. Three years of what is really just vibe-based learning. There's a lot of vocab I still don't know (I mean my English vocab is pretty limited too, sooo.... 😭), a lot of areas that I can still improve on, and am improving on, and try to improve on... when the mood strikes. Again, I am not a very disciplined self-study type.

Maybe this will give any other Chinese diaspora hope, though. I feel like it's never too late for us to start learning. There is probably a seed or language foundation within you already which will make it easier for you to start, and then after that, I think it sort of comes down to finding what interests you and will keep you motivated.

Most of the stuff I talk about on here when it comes to culture or folk art or what have you, I did not know even five years ago! I learned about it because I was interested to find out more. (That's another reason I have to laugh when I get some of the asks I do in my inbox... The stuff I don't answer is dumbfounding at times. You translate a couple of funny videos and people think you're some kind of Tripadvisor cultural ambassador guy! I swear...)

Gig report! Can't believe there's only two to go after this one :o (for me)

I showed up at 4:45pm (bc I'd chosen to get food at the station) and was still a lower number than in Munich at 2pm. Yeah.

didn't really queue thus, which always makes gigs a bit… different. I miss chatting with people before gigs, but I hadn't wanted to fly (even though after the venue move that would have been even easier. But also catching a 7:30 flight the morning after a gig. Yeah, no)

the queue kinda fell apart because you needed a membership card to get into the venue. We didn't have to pay. But they had to handwrite it for us. Emotions ran a little high

the venue was. Something. Sorta a… festival tent? Not quite outdoors, but definitely Interesting

due to the proximity to the airport, the radio frequencies from planes kept interfering with the equipment. Bojan attempted to explain it to us, but he didn't know it himself and thus mostly listened. I feared for the worst at that point, ngl. They didn't look particularly angry to me, but Bojan was like, "Don't be angry, Jan!" so I was like 😬

Bojan tried to get Jure and then also Nace to jam while they were figuring out their tech issues (Always Something Problem), but it meant Jan couldn't hear himself enough and so we just watched him wander on stage while Bojan tried to entertain us

We got ASTP and Proti Toku for soundchek. My first ASTP in 12 gigs on this tour! Curious to see what we'll get today

Bojan repeatedly called Jan "Jenzo" and then later claimed "Just so you know, Jan's Italian name is Jenzo!" with which the crowd disagreed (and let him know that it should be Gianni)

soundcheck was pretty cold and I almost regretted not having taken my jacket (but it did warm up)

the opener was a brass band. Unexpected but actually fun. Fit the gig, somehow

they played a lot of medleys of known songs and the crowd was pretty into it

JC! God, I barely can believe that it was the second-to-last tie I saw him live like that. I love his acoustic set a lot (in particular the first and last songs xD)

He accidentally unplugged his guitar last night. Kinda a funny moment

pretty sure the hype list was changed. Dirty Little Secret made it into the cut, and to our surprise, Zitti e Buoni didn't. Weird choice, Primož (or so I assume)

We got Jan in a capybaster shirt and Nace in the cosy sweater and Bojan in a buttoned shirt he got gifted during soundcheck and Jure in the gorgeous metallic sweater and Kris in another cozy sweater

The Jance was off the fucking charts, jfc I hate them idk what was in the air. Probably hadn't seen each other all day (I'm not actually complaining)

We got SSOL opener into… Ne Bi Smel into Ona into Tokio

During Ne Bi Smel Jan was standing in front of Nace's mic so Nace had to push him away to sing the backing vocals (grinning all the while)

Bojan went, "This night is gonna be multilingual" so I was like, oh, Tokio, but no! "We had English, then Slovene, now we're gonna add some Serbian!" Changing his quips for the final stretch, huh?

Nace singing fucking "Dok tebe sunce greje, mi amore" at Jan. I hate him (While the sun warms you up, my love, according to lyrics translate)

They also played at each other during NBS because of course they did

Jan back on Jure's snare drum for the end. Multi-instrumentalist

Tokio! I didn't catch it on video, but Nace leaned in and bumped his nose into Jan's breast? Kissed his coat? I have no clue what he did but I was like ??? Nace?

At the end, they chased each ohter in circles again, and Nace either went down on one knee in front of Jan or almost did so. When the lights came back on, Nace patted Jan's chest while laughing (couldn't make out Jan's expression)

before NGVOT, Nace was thrown bread. A plushie? Actual bread? I don't know

Nace kept looking over at Jan during NGVOT, and when Jan finally met his gaze, he turned to him so they played at each other. Jan was making a mock-surprised grimacing face and playing? And then they just. Turned back to the front. What the fuck, guys

they just. kept looking at each other. Jan looking at Nace while Nace was doing backing vocals. Nace looking back as soon as he was done. Them swaying in sync while Nace smiled smugly about it. And at the end, they did the swaying like. In opposite cycles? So both sawying in and both swaying away, until Nace turned and bent his knees a little and yelled up into Jan's face. Yeah idk.

Post gig:

The venue had a scrolling LED screen that scrolled "Everybody's Waiting At The Ball" (thanks, Kris, for the restory!)

Had a chat with Dean (lovely) and JC Stewart (also lovely) and learned that JC and Conor used to live together which is why JC was out with Conor to be introduced to the boys (allegedly before Christmas, though JC wasn't 100%)

hung around the gate after the show even though it was pretty clear they wouldn't say hi, but it gave us a chance to see Mark (who'd surprised the boys with a visit) as he was waiting for someone to let him off the venue grounds. "Well, they'll have to open this at some point, they ordered McDonald's!"

Spoiler: they did not open the gate for McDonalds. Primož tried to scale it, which almost worked but looked dangerous, and so the delivery person threw it over the top. It was a spectacle

“No Leah, I don’t want to talk to you right now” You say as you walk into your locker room at the Barca training grounds.

“Please Y/N, let me explain” Leah pleads with you.

“Leah there’s nothing for you to explain. You were caught kissing her on multiple occasions. The photos explain themselves”

“Baby please, let me explain” You roll your eyes at the lame apology.

Before Leah got the chance to respond, you ended the call. You threw your phone harshly against the ground. Luckily no one else was there. You put your bag away and took your boots outside to get some extra practice in. Ball after ball went in either the top left or right corner and your teammates watched on the sidelines. After the 10th ball went in, you felt a hand on your shoulder and you turn around to see your older sister Mapi. 

“Are you okay?” She asks.

“I’m fine” You grumble back to Mapi.

“Hey Y/N! Why is Leah calling me asking to speak to you? Also is this yours?” Lucy asks confused as she walks over to you holding a smashed up phone.

“Ask her why” You say as you take your phone before walking to get some water.

Your teammates are now officially worried. You aren’t your usual fun, bubbly self during practice. Instead you’re taking everything so serious and haven’t even cracked a smile once. When training finishes, you’re the first one in the locker room and the first out. You get in your car and text the team group chat saying you feel sick so you might not be there for a few days. After getting into your apartment, you grab a bottle of wine and head up to your room where you turn your phone off and watch Survivor. It might be comforting to watch someone else go through pain when I am, you think. 

Maybe I should get some sleep What's the point of anything?

After nearly a whole bottle of wine and 5 episodes of survivor, you decide to call it a night. You turn on your phone again and you see mainly missed calls from Leah, Mapi, Alexia and Ingrid. You reply a ‘im fine, stop worrying’ to Mapi before turning it off again and going to sleep until whenever. For at least an hour, you were rolling around so much that you built up a sweat. You turn on your phone and see it’s just after 4am. Using the phone flashlight, you walk downstairs and get a glass of water. You read Mapi’s reply first.

Maps 👯‍♀️: i’m never going to stop worrying, you know that. To Maps 👯‍♀️: maybe you should. i’m not a little kid anymore

You put your glass in the sink and went back upstairs. As you went to charge your phone, you see it. You reach to grab the velvet box and open it to see what would have been Leah’s engagement ring. You continue to stare at the custom made diamond and start to think what’s the point of anything?. After looking at the very expensive diamond  You jumped awake several hours later to bangs on the door.

“Get up right now Y/N/N” You hear the lovely voice of your sister ring through the door.

“Go away Mapi”

“Not until you talk to me” Mapi pushes.

“You’re going to be here a while”

“Y/N Y/M/N León Cebrián open the fucking door right now!” You instantly got up from the bed and stared down Mapi and Alexia. 

You got back into bed and Mapi got on one side while Alexia got on the other. You knew you had to open up eventually but you were scared to. You’ve never been the one to share your feelings, that’s when the notes app on your phone. it took you approximately a minute before you started to breakdown and you fell into your sisters arms. 

After crying for a while, you compose yourself, somewhat and take the glass of water Alexia was offering you. 

“What happened y/n/n?” Alexia asks softly.

“Leah she um, she cheated on me with Jordan”

“Wait her ex-girlfriend Jordan? I’m going to kill her!” Mapi stands and goes on a rant for a minute before sitting at the end of the bed again. 

“How are you feeling?” Mapi asks putting her hand on yours.

“I was going to propose Map. Two more weeks and I would’ve proposed. I think I’m problem”

Mapi and Alexia spent the next few hours talking about some strategies to help this, since both girls have been cheated on before. You didn’t have any negative thoughts when the girls were there which was a change from your negativity the past few weeks. 

Mapi decided that a movie day would be beneficial and you all shuffle downstairs to the living room. You get blankets out of the closet and Alexia makes popcorn in the microwave. Mapi quickly puts on your favourite movie and half way through the movie, you hear a loud knock at the door. You get up to go answer and when you do, you are lost for words.

“Hi Y/N”

if you haven’t listened to g&s’ the Pirates of Penzance you NEED to it’s genuinely one of the funniest musicals in the world it’s just batshit insane. it reads like a crackfic and i desperately crave aus set in this world because g u y s

the pirates are so chivalrous that they never invade small ships, only ones bigger and better than them. they’re all orphans and when they manage to capture people everyone claims they’re also an orphan so the pirates let them go. the main character frederic works with the pirates because his nursemaid has bad hearing and was ordered to apprentice him to a pilot. frederic jumps out of his hiding place to tell these beautiful girls he was watching their conversation because they were about to take off their stockings how sCA nd aLoU s. frederic sings a whole dramatic betrayal ballad w his forty-year-old nursemaid because she told him she was beautiful so he’d marry her but he thinks she’s hella ugly. this kicks off her villain arc. he asks a whole, entirely unrelated group of ladies if they’re rly ugly and nobody wants to date them, they say no, so he goes ‘😬 u sure?’ twice in a row. THE very model of a modern major general sings his song upon entry, only afterwards asking what’s going on, implying that he sings it every time he sees people. the song is about how good he is at being a general but all he brags about are skills that are entirely irrelevant, eg, integral and differential calculus. frederic plans to exterminate the pirates because he’s turned 21 and left his indenture (they are very respectful about this) but realises he’s apprenticed to them until his 21st birthday and he was born on the 29th of february. there’s these policemen who are just absolute cowards and hide the moment the pirates arrive, then the pirates hear the general arriving and also hide - picture a pirate and a policeman standing obviously behind poles and completely failing to see each other. the policemen echo the ends of lyrics even if it makes no sense, eg “pied in crime” “culty smother”. the pirates sing a song about how stealthy they are, which could be interpreted as just how musicals are, but i’d like to think they’re belting the whole thing. the entire plot is resolved by the sergeant bidding the pirates to yield in Queen Victoria’s name, to which they immediately yield and become noblemen again. oh also it’s a full opera

I have to jump in on the Rockstar Lestat talk, because I have actually been meaning to post about it myself recently. I remember opening The Vampire Lestat when I was..much younger, and even then I was like "Lestat's a rockstar?" It was like a sign that all bets were off. Anne was going to go where she wanted with these characters, and we could go along for the ride or not. (Obviously I decided to stay.) It's crazy, but it's fun.

It could also easily introduce some of the othet big players, like Khayman, and of course, the backstory for Akasha, eventually….

and maybe he goes outside for a smoke later to get away from it all, but runs into you, leaned up against the cold cement wall, your custom-made Versace dress lookin' like you were poured into. he can't help but stare as you blow a cloud of smoke his way in mild greeting. and god it's grinding his gears more than it should that you're so casual about seeing him again bc it's kinda eating him alive!!! (which u know and take full advantage of!!)

he manages to congratulate you, lighting up a cig himself, and you're gracious and shrug lightly saying "thanks for the help. wouldn'ta had it in me to write those lyrics if you hadn't broken my heart." and then you're sliding past him back into the warmth of the afterparty and he's left with a chilly wind biting into his slacks and the smell of ur perfume hanging in the air :'))))))))

You were struggling with a lot at the time and the only option you had was to take a break from your career. You stayed lowkey, stopped posting, and anytime you were in a picture or anything it was RARE.

But anyway, 2021 you started to plan your comeback and so your friend Cole posted you on your Birthday

At the time I was on the rise of my Career. The song I was featured on with Lil Nas X was the #1 song in the world. Got Nominated for hella stuff, got hella awards. I was really accomplishing my dreams.

My friend Cole Bennett, creator of Lyrical Lemonde, fucking legend. I’ve worked with him for the music video of What’s Poppin my first hit ever.

He had this friend, and I had known of Arlette because she was a big help in the artistic side of this industry and uh, Urban has mentioned her name to me before when he’d show me some album covers, or a music video but, i never knew the face behind all that was arlette’s beautiful self.

So it’s October, all these halloween parties are happening and Cole had hit me up and said, “Yo I have this friend, Arlette Viotto she works in the same category as me. this isn’t me hating “just cuz” but i also hate watched (🏴‍☠️) hazbeen hotel and i must say i don’t think the songs/soundtrack are even all that.. they sound kinda generic and more like someone took an ok other song and filled in the lyrics to be fitting to the show. It’s such a weird specific feeling. The only one I’d say was musically more engaging was Loser Baby.. and maybe poison if it was without the… context 😬.

to be clear they’re not grating again i just think it’s a bit sad to have the “best part” of the show feel like word fills of OTHER generic songs with not really any good “musical twists” on stuff

Had it been a good idea from Tom to drag you - his best friend, turned fuck buddy along with him to the premier of 'Infinity War'? Probably not. Like... Not at all. Especially after having a certain amount of alcohol flowing through your veins. And alcohol did funny things to you. For example, causing you to get more... self-conscious and lose (all) your inhibitions. Tom knew that - and nevertheless, he asked you to join him. Perhaps he hoped, that you'd never get this far to reach that point, but... of course, you did - and that was, where you were now; almost stumbling from one drink to the next on the afterparty.

At the beginning, everything had been fine, for sure. You were sober, happy that he asked you to join him, showing off as best friends on the red carpet - although, humour held it that you were more than just friends, which wasn't incorrect, but also not a hundred percent true either. Nobody knew of your 'dirty little secret'. That you were friends on the surface, but rolled around the sheets together, when nobody was watching. And the sex was without, a doubt, phenomenal. The best you ever had. So, after all, it was a win-win situation for both, you and Tom, so...

The premier itself was great. You got to meet so many cool and awesome people, ate exquisite food and enjoyed a succeeded movie. It was awesome. And then there was the afterparty... Which you and Tom wouldn't have missed, of course. Not with everybody else assuaging you to go as well; almost pleading you to join. So how could you say no? Especially to Chris Evans' puppy dog eyes. Speaking of... The man had laid an eye on, clearly. You knew it. Tom knew it - and perhaps everybody else knew. He wasn't exactly good at hiding it. And now here you were... On the party, drunk as hell, another drink in your hands and on the verge of dirty dancing with Chris fucking Evans. Yep, this all got messed up pretty bad very quickly...

Tom watched from the side-lines; his own drink in hands. The Brit's eyes never left yours. Blue orbs burning holes inside your laughing, drunk and utterly gorgeous body. He took a sip of his drink. Unbeknownst to you - and most likely everybody else, had the man developed over the few years he had known you now a little crush. Okay, admittedly it was a huge crush; those deep feelings he harboured inside his heart for you growing with every single day. It's just silly, that you both swore to not involve feelings into play. You agreed on friendship and sex - nothing more, nothing less. Nowadays, with every time he slept with you, it became more difficult for Tom to keep his feelings under control - and he wasn't sure how long he was able to hold back. But on the other hand... He didn't want to ruin the friendship you shared with him. You were a way too precious friend for him to lose, and if it meant for him that he could keep you as such, he was willing to hold back his feelings for the rest of his life. He had to.

Your shrieking laugh ripped the actor out of his thoughts, eyes immediately landing on you. You were dancing with Lizzie now - who was equally as drunk as you were, having the time of your life's. Tom frowned. Where was Ev- Before he could finish this thought, he saw said Chris more or less staggering over to him, fresh beer in hands. Tom cursed internally, ruffling his blonde-brown locks. Not now, please not now. The Brit liked Chris. He really did, with all his heart. He adorned this man and fellow acting colleague, but... Now was just not the right time. Not if he wanted to poke the bear. Not after Tom had seen him dancing so... sluttishly with his best friend; shamelessly placing his hands on her hips and grinding his crotch against her ass. No.

Hence, of course you were absolutely doing things like this when you were drunk. Without that, Tom and you wouldn't have ended up as fuck buddies... "Aww, too bad." Chris said, pouting, before he started to wiggle his eyebrows. "Maybe I can show 'er what I got." Not if I do it first. "Good luck." Tom simply answered, before emptying his glass and stood up, making his way over to you, leaving his drunk friend behind. The Brit was on a mission now. He would not let this happen... You ending up in Chris' bed tonight. There was only one bed he ever wanted to see your sexy ass in - his. Only his.

Harshly grabbing your hips and pulling your ass back against his crotch - just like Chris did, Tom ripped you out of your dancing bubble, causing you to shriek up. Seeing carlos's poetic vows again made me realize how little effort tk put in his vows..they were so😬😬😬

I am out here yet again wondering if I’m watching the same show as some of y’all.

Poetic does not equal effort, I gotta point out first. Different styles of writing does not mean the outcome of what’s written took less time or holds more meaning. This goes for any kind of writing, or art in general, but it’s applicable here as well. Maybe corny, romantic lines come easier to Carlos and he thought of those vows in 20 minutes, while TK agonized for hours over what to write down. We don't know cause they didn't show us, but regardless the lyricism of the lines doesn't automatically mean Carlos put more effort into it.

But also… “You saw me for the man I had yet to become and lit the path for me to get there.”??? “When I’m with you, I feel whole.”??? These lines are so meaningful and important. Even if they aren’t written in the same style as Carlos’ (which was 100% done by the writers of the show as a way to differentiate their personalities I’m sure), TK’s vows essentially said the exact. same. thing. that Carlos echoed back after. Which was absolutely beautiful to me the way they both shared identical sentiments, in their own ways, about their own personal journey and how the other saved them.

The musical flow of this song SUCKS so much its kinda funny. It starts with piano with an accompany of a chorus which is the only decent part of the entire song, then the pre-chorus has a quicker beat and the switch feels so abrupt.

I don't like that it sounds like brendon is trying to chase the lyrics in the chorus

In short: im disappointed but not surprised. This doesn't even feel like Panic anymore. The lyrics are bland and repetitive, Brendons vocals are truely fighting on their last legs and the songs can't commit to a single beat. It's like he had too many ideas and thought he could execute them all but he couldn't. I can't believe this album is actually real, I refuse to listen to this ever again.

If the studio versions of these songs sound so dogshit, I canNOT wait to hear about the tour versions.

Bonus note: the song spotify decided to auto play right after finishing the album was Famous Last Words which idk whether to laugh or cry.

i rewatched day 1 of the idolish7 movie...

(these are my thoughts from both the first and second time i watched day 1)

my first time watching something in 4dx. it rained, it snowed, the chairs moved like a roller coaster, there were gusts of wind, smoke, and bubbles falling in front of the screen. it smelled nice on occasions, too

the first scene with a tree sprouting and growing with flashes of the elements/seasons were so endearing by the third time i watched it

started off with monster generation<3 i tried to watch where they took away their umbrellas, ngl

iori's little ponytail!💙 it reminded me of banri-san's🥰

i feel like toma talked a lot overall, whereas i thought the other groups talked more equally 🤷

gaku's "are you guys ready?" from the left, ryu's "yeah, we'll go ahead" from the right, tenn's "who do you think we are?" from the front center, "we are TRIGGER" from all around the theater speakers = auditory bliss 🙏🙏🙏

i thought the scents in 4dx were going to be like musky men's cologne/perfume for the idols, but it was more of a sweet floral scent like an air freshener

trigger's costume looked so warm, i couldn't imagine how hot and sweaty they were dancing on stage🥺

tenn's such a sweetheart for his fans, he's so nice in their talking scene 💞

i loved how their choreography was loose in some parts so everyone had some freedom and creativity! (personally, i saw this mainly in stronger&stronger and at the beginning of pieces of the world)

the thread graphics in the background in stronger&stronger changed colors depending on who was singing and the line distributions☺️

i love how in journey, momo pretends there's an imaginary puddle like the lyrics, but yuki just walks right though lol😂😂

also, yuki's so beautiful and his voice/singing is so good (like, gaku is handsome and sexy, but no one does beautiful like yuki<3)

okay, so i love their white outfits, but most of them are so pale they looked a little washed out in all white... (like i couldn't tell if it was sogo or tenn it was that bad😬)

tamaki has so much energy omg he was still jumping about when walking backstage after the encore

breaking the wall a little bit...

i think they might have kept the same costume design from their new songs and just changed the color to white for pieces of the world, but if they were to make two versions of the same outfit for irl concerts (in color and in white), that's a lot of work💀 (unless they were to bleach the outfit or something i guess)

the flashes in the 4dx theater really made it feel like the theater was part of the concert venue lol

i don't mean this is an ageism way, but singing and dancing those songs in real concerts might be a little tiring for some of our dear voice actors😭

in the credits after the movie, i was looking to see if there was maybe a chance they added banri's name somewhere, but THERE WAS SOMETHING BETTER
