15 and 23 for the vyrthraals :3 -esther
ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!
This needs to be under a cut this is going to be on the longer side. Ny'all have been Warned :')
15.) What are the dynamics like between your characters? Do they generally get along? How do their personalities and motivations bounce off one another? How do they come away feeling upon interacting with each other?
RUBS MY GRUBBY LITTLE HANDS TOGETHER!!!! I. LOVE. How the Vyrthaals interact :3
So when they First meet each other they are butting their heads together CONSTANTLY. Boe! Vyr is picking fights with everyone (ESPECIALLY Malacath! and Vampire! Vyr but also a little with OG! Vyr too just bc hes kind of a goody two shoes), Jay and Pery! Vyr are always arguing over the best course of actual while Mora! Vyr bitches about neither of them knowing Anything about what they're doing, for some reason Sanguine! and Meridia! Vyr are actually throwing hands and it's getting Really violent, seriously what the fuck is with you two DON'T fucking kill each other PLEASE, and oh no, Why are Sheo! Vyr and Namira! Vyr watching all of them ominously in the corner making threatening gestures at everyone-- you get the idea.
Basically, none of them want Anything to do with each other when they are first thrown together, and not even in a begrudging sibling way where at the end of the day they Would actually have each others' backs. It isn't until they realize how much danger they're in that they even Try working together. Not to spoil the Entire Story but they *are* actually forced to work together and look out for each other. Even ones who's parents are super enemies, like Boe! and Vampire! Vyrthaals. They do, for the duration of their Quest together, have the same motivation: to get to the bottom of Who has trapped them in a hellish nightmare world thats an amalgamation of all their homes, stop them from stealing the powers of their parents to control the worlds as they know them, and Try Not To Die.
After their Quest is finished though it's different. Of course it is, I fucming LOVE found families and the power of friendship!!! But they all end with really loving each other, willing to do anything it takes to keep each other safe!! Yes obviously they still bicker and don't always see eye 2 eye but at the end of the day they really do come away from their Quest with a great deal of love and care for each other :') They ALSO really learn how to fight together. During their Quest they're under attack almost constantly, and they go from almost killing each other by accident to moving together almost perfectly as a team. If a Jaeger could support 18 different people, they would all be Drift Compatible (OK OK NOT ALL TOGETHER but separately in smaller teams? ABSOLUTELY. I need to chart out who would be Most compatible with who, BUT at the end of the day they could all Drift together in any combination In A Pinch. Someone remind me to do this at some point I fuckign love Pacific Rim).
23.) What is your character's type or archetype? (For example: the Fool, the Lover, the Fighter, etc.) Why do they fit this archetype?
I looked up,,,a lot of lists of archetypes for this one lmao.
OG! Vyr: Chosen One. Auri-El brings him back to life and blesses him with immense power for the Sole Purpose of killing Lord Harkon and stopping Molag Bal from ruining Nirn. (He's also been looking out for Vyrthaal here and there since he was born; its part of the reason he was able able be preserved in stasis for so long lmao) He's the Super Special Magical Destiny Kid who's gotta save the world!!
Dagon! Vyr: A gentle giant, surprisingly enough!! He can Be Rowdy and certainly enjoys getting rough and wild like the big party boy he is but at the end of the day he's actually a gentle person that cares about the safety of others.
Boe! Vyr: I didn't know that "hotshot" was the Name for this lol but the motherfucker who's reckless as all hell but like, Good At It. Unlike their Daedric Parent they tend to rush into things without thinking. Thankfully they're also good at getting themself out of whatever hell they yeet themself into!
Pery! Vyr: A peacemaker. They're the only sense of impse control the Vyrthaals actually have lmaooooo. But like, he's stressed about this and doesn't necessarily Want that to be his role all the time, idk if there's a name for that but that's them if there is!
Clavicus! Vyr: A class clown/comic relief sort of figure, bc they get into Silly Shenanigans but like, a little angsty bc they are actually kind of self conscious abt how comparatively weak they are not just to the other Vyrthaals but like, in general and use the Silliness to hide that. Does that have a specific name??
Namira! Vyr: EMPATH/GUARDIAN BUT SPECIFICALLY FOR FALMER. Literally her whole Thing as a Demiprince is caring for and watching over them. Yes the other Demiprince Vyrthaals do what they can for them, but this is her Role. All the Vyrthaals look out for each other but she's watching them from the shadows to keep track of which one needs what exactly, if that makes sense.
Mora! Vyr: A stereotypical genius nerd but they do it in a really creepy and unsettling way that makes you feel like they know Too Much About You, Personally.
Malacath! Vyr: Warrior type :3 He is brave and strong and protects those weaker than him !!
Sheo! Vyr: Idk if this has a name but the unlikely one that brings everyone together....it is Mostly bc during their Quest he is Very young at abt 6 years old and all the Vyrthaals feel Very protective over him (even when he is being intentionally unsettling. Also fun fact he likes to hold onto Boe! Vyr's cape while he walks, and they and Jay are the ones most likely 2 carry him when he's sleepy)
Sanguine! Vyr: A thrill seeker !!! He's here to Go Fast, fuck the consequences!! Also his whole thing is poor impulse control so it uhhhh sort of affects him too
Meridia! Vyr: I really don't know for her bc she's That underdeveloped unfortunately!! Which is kind of funny to me bc Meridia was the first Prince I ever learned abt lol. Is "seemingly sweet and soft girl bit can actually crush you with ease" count? It should. I'm gonna say it does so I feel like I answered for her :')
Hircine! Vyr: Is there a term specifically for like....a silent observer? He's a very quiet guy but he watches and sees everything!! He knows what all the Vyrthaals are Doing. (Is he doing anything with that info? Not really. It's just kinda There In His Brain.)
Vampire! Vyr: Okay one of the lists of archetypes I found had "vampire" as one so i guess BESIDE THAT. I think he would be the Orphan--abandoned by his mortal parent and rejecting his Daedric one. (I mean he gets adopted but him cutting ties to his biological family And the Volkihar Clan as well is a major part of his story)
Vaermina! Vyr: I must unfortunately confess I haven't developed Vaermina! Vyr (Vyrmina, if ur feeling punny) very much besides "master alchemist with pretty Fucked Up morals." Does that classify as the Mad Scientist type? I'm gonna say it does. Yeah.
Mephala! Vyr: Another underdeveloped Vyr, this time because I don't know much about Mephala at all so I'm not sure what parts of her would influence Vyrthaal :( I unfortunately have to pass on this one ;; (On the bright side I do have an appearance idea in mind, which is more than I can say for some of the better developed Vyrthaals)
Azura! Vyr: I have obviously saved the most underdeveloped Vyrthaals for last, BUT I think Azura! Vyr can fit the Secret Heart Of Gold type. She's pretty cold (snelf pun unintended) and often rude to people but at her core she tries to be a good person.
Nocturnal! Vyr: Secretive(tm) just like her Daedric Parent lol. Literally just Lurking There and watching everything. (I feel like this could also fit Mephala! Vyr but she's not as Much as Nocturnal! Vyr).
HOLY FUCK I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT JAY. OH MY GODS. I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT HER ALMOST NON STOP FOR LIKE 3 DAYS WHAT THE HELL??????
Jyggalag! Vyr, AKA Jay: She is a Leader type, perhaps a reluctant leader. She's got the skills for it, she's good at Making people work together to get shit done, and she definitely has the vibe of someone to be obeyed even Before she takes her father's place. Can't believe I fucking forgot about Jay. What the fuck.
OHHHH my gods this got SO long but What does anyone expect when it comes to Anything About Vyrthaal :') Esther ilu thank u for sending this in it SO fun talking abt how the Vyrthaals interact :')

You have been offered an exorbitant sum of money to (somehow) remake The Untamed as a mecha series. What Do You Do?
So, this is actually a bit trickier than the times you asked me the same about Detective Conan and Fruits Basket. Both of those stories are ones that I’ve interacted with for a long time and they have cores that I feel work with varying amounts of sci-fi and tech involved as long as certain elements stay stable. Meanwhile, the Untamed’s specific version of xianxia cultivation is pretty heavily tied to its plot. But I think it’s still doable.
Ok, so, for The Untamed, the most central plot is ultimately the one about the dangers of rumors and hearsay, with the theme of the complicated nature of real-world morality being almost as central. Other than those, my favorite theme is probably the whole ongoing narrative of each generation’s actions affect the next. None of this stuff would be out of place in a traditional sci-fi style mecha series set in space.
So, my inspirations here are primarily gonna be Magic Knight Rayearth, Sakura Wars, and the bits of various Gundam shows that involve what’s collectively referred to as space magic.
(this got long so have a readmore)
The concept: this is still, to some extent, xianxia. People still cultivate, they just do it on non-Earth planets and moons (note: if this is something that is specifically not allowable in Taoism I would appreciate someone letting me know). Each of the clans has their own planet/moon, corresponding in climate to the locations we see in the show and presumably named after those locations on Earth. The Burial Mounds is probably a subsatellite of the Yiling moon orbiting Yunmeng. The costuming will not change for the most part, though because space travel exists, there will be space suits—just made of materials available in the setting. I’m picturing some real funky ship designs, and also probably some scenes of cultivation-based metalworking to justify the existence of the spaceships in the first place. The sets would probably also look very much the same, but with occasional modern devices made with obviously ancient methods, thrown in just often enough to be subtly jarring. Tech levels would probably vary by clan—the Jins would have the most, the Lan would have the least, the Jiang would have a few weird things that Wei Wuxian came up with but not much else, etc.
As far as the mechs themselves, my solution here would be essentially creating a magitech setup, with mechs more along the lines of the ones from Magic Knight Rayearth or Scrapped Princess in piloting mechanics—i.e., they’d have magic bubble cockpits, transfer damage directly to pilots, and run on the pilot’s energy. I’d probably go ahead and have mechs be essentially summons that are exclusive to cultivators and tied to their swords, which adds even more layers to a number of scenes in the drama (people’s swords being stolen, certain people losing the ability to cultivate, the Nie saber stuff, etc.). Maybe people who have spiritual tools like Zidian can use them to power up their robots? Also obviously Wei Wuxian builds himself a new mech in the Burial Mounds and ties it to Chenqing.
I’m seeing the great clans all having very traditional sort of fantasy robot designs (like, Escaflowne/Rayearth/Dunbine vibes), color-coded by clan, with some design variations to differentiate them--I can see the Lans having the most curves, the Nie units being really blocky, the Jin units having extra ornamentation, the Jiang units being sleekest, and the Wen units being the most pointy. And then, just, the robots made through demonic cultivation? Evangelion-type eldritch horrors that are, given how demonic cultivation works, most likely made of organic material from dead bodies and scavenged bits of metal.
So, ok, it’s the Untamed, but everyone’s got robots. The thing is, they don’t only have robots. The show that results from this would probably end up including a mixture of the original series’ sword & cultivation combat and robot battles. There are some fights, for example, that basically have to take place indoors or right next to buildings, and those would probably end up involving sword combat. On the other hand, some fights would be just as fun if they involved two giant robots zooming around in the sky.
Some specific scenarios: a lot of the Sunshot Campaign involving simultaneous space and ground battles, the First Siege of the Burial Mounds starting with a gigantic robot assault before Wei Wuxian knocks enough of them out of the sky for them to try sending in ground troops, the battle between Lan Zhan and Xue Yang in Yi City happening in mechs while Wen Ning fights [spoiler] on the ground. It could be cool. Also, it would really emphasize the difference between people who can cultivate and people who can’t.
I’m not going to go full spoilers here, but I think you can imagine how the feelings of certain characters who aren’t strong cultivators would be even more intense in this type of setting. And how much easier it would be for them to argue that they felt weak, and vulnerable, and threatened!
I don’t think there’s any reason you’d need to add robots to The Untamed. But I think if you did, you could have a lot of fun using them to reinforce existing themes and make situations that were already gutwrenching even worse.
So, for that unlimited budget? The majority would be spent on getting as much of the original team as would be willing to return to make The Untamed: But Robots This Time, or replacing the cast & crew members who were unwilling to participate in this level of nonsense. The rest would go into hiring a robot-focused effects team with a focus on recruiting people who worked on Pacific Rim or Transformers, and then paying them to do a lot of work.
Once again, disclaimer: if I screwed up anything on a cultural level, feel free to tell me. I genuinely do not mean anyone any harm I just like putting robots in stuff.

Top 7 comfort movies
I’m roughly 12 years late to the party but I was tagged by @ajoblotofjunk and @ilikeblue ! Thanks so much!
So confession up front - when looking for comfort stuff I actually tend towards TV! So here’s a mix of comfort media XD Also, like, in which I ramble only semi-coherently about things I love. 😅
1. Singin’ in the Rain
Tumblr media
I... have no deep reasons for loving this. I just - I love Cosmo Brown. I love tap dancing. I love the earnestness of this whole flick and the OT3-ness that is just, like, everywhere in this damn movie. The songs are catchy, the dancing is impressive as all get out, it’s a lot of fun. The dorky scenes about enunciation - even if I could do without the sexist overtones to Lena’s storyline. I used to work in TV, so the stuff about where to put the mics was RELATABLE (if... not exactly the same ofc). The cast is attractive. There is 1 space mom (Debbie Reynolds) and 1 space aunt (Cyd Charisse) in it, which tickles me xD
Let’s see, I’ve given random headcanons on Singin’ before, but let’s go with this one. When watching it the first time in my twenties and “Make ‘em Laugh” came on, my pal said with such deep earnest and pained joy, “Cosmo is doing all this just to make Don laugh,” and I think about that every time I watch that sequence.
THE LOVE. it’s eVERYWHERE.
2. Parks and Recreation
Tumblr media
Look, I can totally see how Parks & Rec isn’t for everyone. But to me, it’s a half-hour long televisual hug of people doing their best to love each other and make the world better, with helpings of political commentary and utterly absurd comedy. It definitely doesn’t come without caveats and is already dated in some ways, but in a weird way, I appreciate that Schur & Goor have grown in their politics that missteps taken in P&R aren’t repeated in and are often actually rectified in B99 & The Good Place. I deeply, deeply love the relationship between Ben and Leslie, and how hard Leslie loves: people, Pawnee, politics, public service. The families-of-choice vibes are strong in this one and there are few things I am more of a suck for than families-of-choice. I could ramble endlessly on this one, so I’ll cut myself off there.
Anyhoops, I have very many feelings about P&R and if you’ve been wondering whether to watch it but holding back for whatever reason, please DEFINITELY message me and I will share with you my many thoughts on why you should watch, where there might be squicks, and why you should actually start with season 2, episode 21 (yes, even the completionists amongst you).

3. Jurassic Park
Tumblr media
... I love dinosaurs, and I love Dr Ellie Satler. She is amazing and if there was a gif of her with the triceratops I would have chosen that one. Between her general personality/competency, her unabashed feminism and her face, she remains the best 🥰Also I appreciate that Lex also got to save the day, in a way v specific to her skillset and that the film didn’t dismiss her despite being v scared and way outside her comfort zone in the outdoorsy survival parts of the film.
I also have fond memories of going to see it for my sixth birthday and going to the bathroom when the T-rex eats Gennaro, so not totally understanding why all my pals were terrified when I got back. Ofc I then had fears that a t-rex would stomp and crush our home, but *handwaves* I grew out of that fear. And grew a new one.
Tumblr media
4. Avatar: the Last Airbender
Tumblr media
Ho-hum. Where to start with Avatar. Lmao, in the context of Game of Thrones (to which it has been ofc compared lately) just having a long-form television show which delivers on the vast majority of its themes and premises is a relief and satisfying. But, I liked Avatar long before I was back in the GOT-verse so. It’s a compelling narrative, carefully constructed and mindful of the stories and values it’s putting out into the world. And those stories, values and themes aren’t light. It tackles war, genocide, familial abuse, revenge, and redemption alongside things like building family, accepting differences, forgiveness, and honesty. That said, it balances those things with children-being-children, and moments of grace and humour. Each character is well-drawn, their personalities and choices respected, and the idea that character-drives-plot is masterfully demonstrated. Hey look - we’ve got some families-of-choice vibes here too!
I think I’ve previously rambled in the tags of a post about Katara specifically. But as someone who has, ah, an appreciation for anger and an awareness that women + anger = bad, societally speaking, Katara was a breath of fresh air. She is as compassionate as she is angry, and while there are philosophical differences between characters when it comes to her acting on her anger, the anger itself is never questioned or denigrated, by other characters or by the narrative itself. Her anger is never used as a tool to invalidate her other characteristics, or the reverse (her compassion, her nurturing side, etc, are never used to invalidate her anger), and she means a lot to me.
Also idk what this is but it came up when I searched Avatar and if I have to see it and be slightly confused and embarrassed then so do you:
Tumblr media
5. Pacific Rim
Tumblr media
lmao I rambled so much about the past few I’m tempted to just say: I JUST LOVE IT OK. Which is true, but. A bit more. Pacific Rim is like two hours of hope. I think I have in my queue a post that describes the relationship between Mako and Raleigh as two hurt & hardened warriors who nonetheless find softness with each other, and that is 100% true. But that ignores how in many ways, the same is true for Stacker and Mako, and even Stacker and Raleigh to degrees. Stacker’s adoption of Mako is very important. A black man with an East London accent being the most vital person in the movement to save the world is important. The multi-national, scrappy and semi-guerilla response to a weird af global threat, and the related deep humanity in facing the end of the world and hoping against hope that there’s a chance, also deeply resonant.
It’s also stunning: Guillermo del Toro and his colour schemes, y’all. The fight scenes are so GOOD and INTERESTING and just so blatantly done by someone who knew exactly what they were doing and loved every minute of it. The idea of the drift and of drift compatibility is lovely: that philosophical belief in the interconnectedness of people. The (somewhat blink-and-you-miss-it) background class commentary (del Toro, icu) 👏.
And, ofc, as with many on this list: the centering of Mako, the dedication to playing out the full emotional arc, of her having complex emotions which are respected and acknowledged by other characters and the narrative... yes please thank you.
6. Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries
Tumblr media
Women being competent and supported is deeply comforting. I’ve particularly found myself rewatching MFMM as the world is on fire. Just - watching Phryne build her family (families of choice!) and her community, get her men, and win the day through cleverness and determination is heartening.
7. The Holiday
Tumblr media
I love Kate Winslet’s arc in this. But honestly I think much of my love for this centres on the fact that I saw it when v much longing to move to the UK and it is the most charming/romantic portrayal of Britain and that appealed to 20 y-o K who was so desperate to go. That said, the arc between Iris & Arthur (eg the gif below) makes me cry every time, so there’s that.
Tumblr media
As mentioned, I’m v late to this game so I don’t know who’s been tagged! If you haven’t done it yet, please consider yourself tagged & let me know when you’ve done it! (Yes, I definitely do mean you!)

Looking at the current Shounen Jump line-up, here are the series I actually follow:
One Piece My Hero Academia Jujutsu Kaisen The Elusive Samurai Mashle: Magic and Muscles Undead Unluck Magu-chan: God of Destruction Mission: Yozakura Family Phantom Seer Sakamoto Days MHA: Vigilantes Kaiju No.8 One-Punch Man Spy x Family
I’ll talk about some of them below the cut.
I have been reading Witch Watch, but, at 6 chapters, I’m still undecided how I feel about it. It doesn’t stand out much so far. At this point, I’m really undecided where I stand with Undead Unluck. In the past... I dunno, 20 or so chapters, the pacing has been really weird--as if the creator got told they need to wrap it up... But it hasn’t been canceled yet.
Of the newer series (less than 100 chapters), the Elusive Samurai, M:YF, Phantom Seer, Mashle, Spy x Family, and Sakamoto Days are my more favorite ones. I like Kaiju No.8 as it has a strong Pacific Rim/Godzilla vibe I’m into, but there are a lot of weekly updates are just a series of illustrations rather than a continuation of the story. I don’t have strong feelings about Magu-chan, but it’s a fun read about a girl being very wholesome with ancient gods in chibi form. I don’t hate it.
Despite the Elusive Samurai only having 7 chapters, it has the benefit of being created by Yuusei Matsui who was also behind Assassination Classroom and Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro--both on my favorite series list. (Not long before it was released, I’d been wondering what he’d been up to.) While Matsui’s favorite character dynamic is front and center as always, it’s a dynamic I like and doing historical fiction is new for him. There have been a couple of hints of the supernatural so far and I’m excited to see how wild the art gets.
As for Phantom Seer, it’s kinda hard to say no to a decent exorcist series, plus, I’m really rooting for the artist. They’d been illustrating another series that got cancelled, so I’m glad to see them back in the game so soon. From the looks of it, I believe they’re setting the female lead to be a strong player in the story.
M:YF has a strong family vibe I like plus the romance angle has been very sweet so far. It’s also really nice to see the siscon get treated like a creep.
Mashle has a nearly identical premise to Black Clover, but more extreme and in a very Harry Potter-like setting. However, I like Mash a lot more than I like Asta and the writing is a lot more dedicated to the fact that Mash doesn’t have magic. It’s also very ridiculous, but I find it fun. Plus there are some fun reaction images.
I’ve talked about Spy x Family before, but, oh man, I really need Twilight and Yor to just kiss already!
Sakamoto Days has been pretty fun, though I’d like to see more content of Sakamoto with his family than the teenagers he seems to be adopting.

MUN QUESTIONS.
Q1.   if you could write your character your way in their own movie, what would it be called, what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about? A1.  I would love to either see her in her canon setting, following what it would have potentially been like for a female medic if they would have been allowed in the US Army. Or like something where she’s the leader of like a biker gang or something, all in leather and looking fierce af.
Q2.   what would their soundtrack / score sound like? A2.  Similar to the Pacific Rim soundtrack probably, or TRON Legacy-vibes
Q3.   why did you start writing this character? A3. I had just rewatched Band Of Brothers and was home alone just hanging out for a week and I came up with a very basic character idea what I started working on and then made a blog for. Claire has obviously changed A LOT since then, but her basic version was a Band Of Brothers that pretty much right away turned fandomless, because I preferred that idea.
Q4.   what first attracted you to this character? A4. So many things... I love the idea of women in WWII and doing more than what they did, and I just wanted to explore writing a character that was one out of very few women doing something that has always been very male-oriented.
Q5.   describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse. A5.  Oh man... She’s just so crazy reckless and just won’t care about her own life or safety, if it means she can save someone else.
Q6.   what do you have in common with your muse? A6.  Not that much, I don’t think. I mean, when I started out we had nothing except our gender in common, but writing her has kinda made me grow and I’m a lot more outspoken and stuff than I used to be? I also won’t stop talking about fighting people so... there’s that too.
Q7.   how does your muse feel about you? A7.  She probably hates me, let’s be real here.
Q8.   what characters does your muse have interesting interactions with? A8. I’ve loved all her interactions with Mick in the past, they’re so amazing. But right now, @hxllbilly and Claire are being two of my faves, and I’m really loving what I’ve either done or planned with @imhohenschloss . But tbh, I love most of the things I’ve done so far and I feel like most things are interesting, even though I do have my favourite threads.
Q9.   what gives you the inspiration to write your muse? A9.  So many things, but war movies and shows always sparks some muse. Same does music and just a lot of things. She’s one of my strongest muses, tbh.
Q10. how long did this take you to complete? A10. 24+ hours, haha. Finishing this during Eurovision voting lmao.
