#also there are so many clone wars clips in here but like it's literally not my fault the animation is so snappy and good for making edits

Star wars rebels. Twilight of the Apprentice. Knew Maul was going to appear. Clone wars made me like Maul. Before I saw Clone wars I didn't care about Maul and thought he was overrated character as he doesn't in episode 1. Inquisitor can fly using there lightsaber is dumb, wonder if there all gone now. Kinda wish Maul and Ahsoka interact more. Kanan blind. Vader Ahsoka fight, Ahsoka learning Anakin is Vader. But with Ahsoka show we know Ahsoka is alive. But wonder fan thought when it first air
I also knew Maul would appear, both from clips I've seen and because Maul literally is in the thumbnail for the season 2 finale, but it was still great to see him again! Clone Wars made him into one of the greatest villains in all of Star Wars, so I'm glad to see his story continuing.
The flying lightsaber thing is one of my least favorite things about the inquisitors. There's absolutely nothing that can make it look even the slightest bit dignified. Every time it happened in these episodes I wanted to laugh at how absurd they looked. Completely kills the tension, as well as the mystique of the inquisitors themselves. Could you imagine Vader doing something like that?
I imagine there's more, though I actually don't know if we'll see anymore of them in this show. I do know there's others in the games and such, but I wasn't expecting all of the ones here to be killed off so quickly. Especially when two of them were unarmed at the time. Guess that's Maul for you.
Rebels was made before the final arc of Clone Wars, so they might not have known then the connection that Ahsoka and Maul had in the story.
Kanan being blinded was another thing I actually knew would happen ahead of time, but I'm surprised at how sudden it was. Gonna be quite a shift for his character going forwards.
We see Ahsoka in one of the final shots of the episode going back into the Temple, so even if we didn't know about her future appearances in other shows we can know that she's alive. Even if that shot wasn't there, I doubt many people would be willing to accept her death without a body.

Anakin and the Jedi Babies
What’s this, another time-travel+de-aging plot? Yes. Shut up. I have a type.
So let’s set the scene. We are midway through the clone wars, as is only right and proper. Nobody’s doing great but we’re feasibly still not at peak trauma. Nobody’s faked their death in their students’ arms, nobody’s gone undercover as a slave or owner, nobody’s gotten framed for a terrorist attack and had to leave their entire life behind.
We go with the classic cliché of fandom: investigated a Sith Temple while hunting Ventress down, accidentally touched a Magic Object, got sucked into the past with no control.
Anakin finds himself in a snowstorm. He’s still wearing the same clothes, still has his lightsabers, still largely uninjured except for a blaster graze on his thigh. He’s got a few hours before he has to stop using the Force to keep himself warm, even though the prosthesis attachment point is going to be a bitch to keep from causing frostbite.
Unfortunately, he’s got babies with him! Yeah, turns out being the Chosen One can protect you from getting de-aged, but not time-travel. Wild, right?
There’s a baby in a pile of familiar robes and armor. We are talking true and proper infant. This child is six months at most. Anakin immediately stuffs the baby into his robes because they’re in a goddamn snowstorm, and belatedly realizes that oh, this baby is Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan’s not doing too hot. For a variety of reasons, from the cold to the literal infant brain to the brain-breaking nature of Force-given time travel, he can’t focus at all. The only thing he can really put together is that Anakin is here, and mostly competent, and his padawan is going to take care of everything. He sends love and trust down the bond, and then falls asleep against Anakin’s chest under as many layers as Anakin can put him.
They are not alone, because there’s also a toddling Togruta in her own pile of... well, not robes. Ahsoka doesn’t do robes. Unfortunately, snowstorm. She’s got a bit more of her wits about her since a toddler brain is bigger than an infant brain, but not much. She clings to Anakin and cries a bit, until he manages to get her wrapped up in the many underlayers of Adult Kenobi’s clothes, and then stuffs her into his clothes with Obi-Wan and throws the Great Big Brown Overrobe Of Drama on top because for fuck’s sake, it’s a snowstorm.
He needs all the layers he can manage. He clips the additional sabers to his belt, packs away the armor, and picks up whatever else he can see, because his brain is in survival mode, and a snowstorm might be the exact opposite of a desert, but ‘keep what you can, because you don’t know when you’ll have a chance to get it again’ is sound advice no matter what. He sets out for the nearest group of Force signatures.
Unfortunately, this is several hours away, long enough that the blaster wound starts giving him trouble that he can’t just push through, and enough that even gratuitous use of the Force is starting to fail in keeping him warm. He’s focusing everything he’s got on the kids, after all, and for all that Anakin has power, he doesn’t necessarily have control. He can only focus on so many people at once, and the literal infant and toddler come first. So while he manages to keep them warm, he’s starting to lose feeling in his hand and feet, and the prosthesis is... well, metal attached directly to the skin like that isn’t great in such weather.
Just as Anakin’s starting to panic a bit, something he’d mostly managed to avoid in favor of keeping himself awake and moving and alive, compartmentalizing for the sake of survival, he’s found! Hurrah!
He is... found by a group of Mandalorians. He only barely recognizes the sigil as a mythosaur. He knows these are True Mandalorians, Fett’s people.
Better than Death Watch, he tells himself, as they demand to know who he is and why he’s out here.
Anakin’s not in any shape to fight. He’s spent hours in a snowstorm, wearing only the clothes off his and Obi-Wan’s backs, after a battle with a Sith Apprentice. He knows that if he wants to survive, he needs to get help here, or at least get captured for long enough to rebuild his strength.
He only knows a bit of Mandalorian. They’d understand Basic, obviously, but one of them just pointed out the four--four--lightsabers on his hip, so he’s grabbing for every positive he can. If Mando’a can help, he’s going to use it. Better than Death Watch, he repeats. If these people hold to tradition, he can use that. If they don’t... he’ll figure something out. Fett threw out all those old convictions in the building of his clone army, but there are so few things Anakin can rely on in this situation. He has to try.
“Aliit,” he tells them, moving just enough to uncover Ahsoka’s too-tiny face, asleep and cringing away from wind. “T’ad ikaad’e. Gaa’tayl, gedet’ye.”
Family. Two babies. Help, please.
He needs the Mandalorians, because two of the most important people in the universe are helpless and relying entirely on him right now.
They take him with them.
They take him to the Mand’alor.
They take him to Jaster Mereel.

Clone Trooper Rambles
Hey, everyone! Rambles are a journaling-type exercise in which I write down events from my life as though certain clone troopers were there, too. Rambles help me write every day, process emotions, and figure out the 'voices' of various troopers. (Feel free to block the tag #clonetrooperrambles if you want to opt out of these fics!)
Clones Theme
"Is it just me, or does she listen to this song a lot?" Longshot muttered to Jesse in the backseat.
"Dunno," Jesse replied softly. "They all sound the same except for the irritating ones."
"It's the same song, you can tell from those notes right… there," Hunter told them, expertly tapping his fingers along to the beat.
I snorted, glancing in the rearview mirror. "Of course you would hear and recognize that pattern."
"What is the song, though?" Rex asked curiously.
"It's the theme for the troopers in the Clone Wars television show," I told him, feeling a bit embarrassed about the admission with how many times they had heard me play the song.
Predictably, silence reigned after that answer as the troopers listened more intently to the song, one they had probably ignored up to this point.
When the song had ended, Hunter nodded thoughtfully. "It was very militaristic."
“I liked it,” Longshot pitched in. “It sounded like something you could march to.”
“Yeah, it definitely had a good beat,” Jesse said. I had caught him dancing to some of my music a week ago, so I trusted that the trooper consider himself an expert on beats. The trooper in question leaned up from the backseat to ask, “Why do you like it so much?”
“I don’t know,” I said uncomfortably. “It just sounds good and right and noble, with enough of a military style to make me think of you guys. It captures the idea that you all just try to do the right thing and work to make the galaxy a better place.”
Rex nodded, and I could just barely see the motion from the corner of my eye. I was trying to avoid making eye contact with anyone in any of the other car seats. It would be a bit heavy-handed to bring up the sacrifices they made and the troubles they underwent, but everyone else was already thinking along those lines anyway.
“Why are there so many versions of the same song, though?” Hunter asked.
“Because you guys are popular,” I told him with a shrug. “That’s how I got my text tone.”
Rex groaned dramatically while everyone else laughed. “You can change that at any time,” he reminded me.
“That’s nice,” I told him blandly. “I’ll keep that in mind if I ever get sick of it, which I doubt.”
Finding the text tone - a short clip of Captain Rex saying, “Oh, great,” - had been the highlight of my year so far. Every time it went off, I tended to agree with the sentiment, even as Rex grumbled about needing to get the tone changed. Everyone else thought it was hilarious.
“Anyway, I like this song, but I can change it if you guys are getting sick of it,” I offered, trying to be polite.
“Nah, it’s no worse than all of the other ones you listen to on repeat,” Longshot said, and I didn’t even have to look in the rearview mirror to see the giant mischievous grin he was aiming in my direction.
I rolled my eyes and turned it up. So much for my attempt at being polite.
---
A/N - True story on the notification tone! It makes me happy every time I get a text.
If you haven't heard the reorchestrated Star Wars songs from Samuel Kim, consider this your heads up to listen to them! This is my favorite version of the clones theme and here is a version of Victory Celebration and Main Theme that gives me literal chills every time! (I also may have cried a bit.)
Thanks for reading, and happy listening!

Replying to @elizabeth0020 for: Hello!! I’ve always wondered how you decide what arcs/episodes you’re going to write? There are sooooo many, how do you know what’s a good one for your story vs one that isn’t? And a second question (if you feel like answering lol): how do you picture all the details you wrote? Like lighting, movements, facial expression etc? You’re so good at that and I’ve always been amazed at how you come up with them!
I love answering anything and everything, so never worry about sending me too much! I don’t often get to talk about the technical stuff (like the questions you’ve asked), so I love getting any chance I have to talk about them! (So hold on tight, ‘cause this is a ramble! 😂)
So, for the first question regarding the arcs... I picked out what episodes/arcs I thought were beneficial when I did my first watch through of the Clone Wars this past summer. I had a google doc that I wrote down all the episode names in, then jotted down the preliminary ideas. Let me tell you, with a show that has seven seasons of 20+ episodes, it was... so daunting to even think about narrowing down what episodes and arcs to use. It was what initially deterred me from using any of them at all. So I started to look for things that I felt would directly impact Elara, her character, and her development. For example, I didn’t really use all of “Cat and Mouse” because the episode, on a whole, wouldn’t have Elara much involved in it. It did, however, provide a wonderful backdrop for her time on Christophsis, which is why I didn’t nix it entirely. Aside from forcing Obi-Wan and Elara to be tied together, “Dooku Captured” and “The Gungan General” were used to introduce her to Hondo, whom both allows her to be more playful, and showcases her knowledge of the seedier side of the galaxy. And there are plenty of episodes that I love and adore that I just... don’t think would fit. For as much as I love “Senate Spy” and the introduction of Clovis, there’s no way for me to put Elara into that episode and not have it feel forced. That’s another huge thing I look for when picking episodes; if Elara doesn’t feel like she would naturally fit into the storyline somehow, even if it’s indirectly, I’m not going to force her into it. That’s when I do things like mention the events of the episode in a chapter (like with “Clone Cadets”) instead of doing a whole episode. So Clovis is obviously going to get a mention (she’s Anakin’s sister and Padmé’s bestie, of course she’s going to hear about the debacle), but the whole episode won’t be written out.
Then, of course, you have the arcs. The ones that I had immediately chosen are (and these probably come as no surprise): Ryloth, Mandalore, Mortis, Slavers, and Deception. The arcs I find easier to choose because you have a chance to work with more surface area so to speak. It gives me a chance to really flesh out Elara’s part in the story, focus in on her and her emotions and how she’s tied to this particular plot. With the Mortis Arc, for example––Elara is a Skywalker. She is strong with the Force, and in the “Balance” verse, considered a Chosen One. That ties her into the Mortis Arc very interestingly, since it’s not just Anakin going God Mode. It’s going to lend me the chance to really dig deep into Elara, her connection to the Force, to the Light and Dark (the Daughter and Son), and her relationship to being a Chosen One. At first I was like ‘holy shit I’m never gonna be able to do this arc,’ and then when I buckled down and really thought it over... I realized it’s going to be really important for her as a character, and particularly her relationship with Anakin (stay tuned!). It also probably comes as no surprise that a lot of the arcs (and episodes) that get picked are influenced by whether or not Anakin or Obi-Wan are in them. Which is why I almost turned a blind eye to the Umbara Arc until someone brought it up. I did a rewatch of it and knew I had to include it, too. Because that’s going to be an awesome opportunity to flesh out how close Elara is to the 442nd, and be able to contrast her ideals as a General against those of Krell. A lot of the picking of episodes and arcs ends up being trial and error. I wrote the first four-ish pages of “Clone Cadets” before I realized it just didn’t flow right.
All this being said, I like to envision Elara is around for all of the Clone Wars episodes, so I’ve got lots of fun little random snippets for things that I’ll probably never write, but figure would happen in some part of a CW episode.
And after all that, here we finally are at your second question! ☺️
Coming up with all those small details is actually an amalgamation of things at work. I do attribute a lot of it to my training as an actor/theatre artist. I think about how, if I were directing it, how I’d want the movements to look, and how that would translate on both a small scale, and a large scale. A touch of a hand for Obi-Wan and Elara can feel like a world shifting movement––but come off as nothing but a simple, friendly gesture to their fellows. On a small scale, what makes the difference is the way the touch happens. How light the pressure of the touch is, how long it lasts, how slowly their fingers brush against the other person’s hand... all those things help me figure out the mood of that touch and how they’d respond to it. Also, when choosing words to describe movements I often think about the attitude attached to it. A ‘turn of the head’ when Anakin’s being moody may end up being a ‘swivel,’ or the ‘arch’ of an eyebrow from Obi-Wan is more sarcastic than a gentler ‘raise.’ I often agonize picking out those sorts of words. I’ll sit there and try them over and over again, then put them all into a Thesaurus website because I worry I use the same words too much. The thesaurus (particularly when writing Obi-Wan), is my best friend.
When I write mannerisms for canon characters, I use a lot of reference for. I’ll literally just scroll through gifs, watch movie clips, or rewatch the scene I’m writing to pick up on character-specific mannerisms. A couple chapters ago I was describing Anakin’s angry face, and I just looked at images of him from Revenge of the Sith (him alone in the Council room, him being knighted as Vader, his expressions on Mustafar, etc.) I’ll also do this for vocal ticks/inflections. I will also unashamedly admit I will sit there and compose my face into whatever expression I’m trying to describe. Sometimes feeling it physically, or physically composing it helps me come up with words or ways to describe the look. Same thing with touches AND with vocal inflection. Do I sit by myself and read what I’ve written aloud in my best Obi-Wan Kenobi cadence? Yes, yes I do. And has it helped me figure out what words/phrases do and do not work? Yes, it absolutely has!
Also, a lot of describing the details of motion/facial expression/touch gets affected by music for me. Like, if you listen to “Stairway to Heaven” as played by the London Philharmonic Orchestra while reading, say, the scene in “The Gungan General” where Obi-Wan and Elara wake up pressed up to one another... that song is just THE feel of that moment. Listening to the right music when writing (the little details especially) is big for me. Kinda like how “Blue Monday” is the music that works best for the bunker scene in “Storm Over Ryloth.”
There are also a lot of details that I pull from real life. I remember when I wrote Elara seeing Naboo for the first time—and consequently grass, trees, and flowers, too—it was summer time for me. I was staring out at the trees and the way the light filtered through them, watched how they swayed... the grass had just been cut and the breeze smelled sweet... and I was like ‘god, imagine experiencing this all for the first time.’ So I took what I felt and elevated it a little, tried to add a kind of wonder to the things that we all, for the most part, kinda take for granted. I like pulling on experiences I’ve had in real life as a basis.
I ask attribute a LOT of my detail work to my training as a theatre artist. I think about lighting now differently than I did a couple years ago; because I learned what kinda of light fit different moods. Like the scene of Obi-Wan at Dex’s would feel completely different if I’d described the light as cool toned. It would lack a sense of hope. His reminiscences would be sadder, it would feel more stark. The warmer tones suggest that there’s still heart and hope, a possibility for things to get better, and that reflects his inner life better than colder, bluer light. Or how I used light when I wrote Elara seeing Watto again after 10 years to describe her struggle between Dark and Light in that moment. She stepped out of the sun and into the shade because, for a moment, she almost gave in to the Darkness. (Inspired by the scene in Force Awakens where Kylo asks for Han’s help and the light shines down on them... with hints of red low lighting to hint at the struggle... only to have the light disappear as he overrides his own vulnerability, reverts to the Darkness and kills his own father).
I also love using physical objects as emotional triggers, like is done in theatre quite a bit. A good recent example being Elara’s lightsaber. Obi-Wan having it reminds him of his worries regarding her safety, and his struggle with choosing what path to take in regards to his feelings towards her. Or Elara with the Snow Blossom. These things have the ability to spark different emotions depending on the situation. On a good day, the Snow Blossom will make her smile; on a bad day, it may make her feel more sad than happy. And sometimes they don’t have to be objects—they can be bruises or scars or healing wounds. Having something physical spark an emotional response can be really helpful, and has actually helped me though rough spots in my writing.
I could literally go on for hours about all of this kind of stuff! So thank you for asking about it and giving me a chance to discuss it even a little bit! ☺️

George Lucas involvement in The Clone Wars Series
This subject is being talked about by some here on Tumblr, so I thought I’d break open my Star Wars Quote files and share what I could to facilitate others who are already in discussions about it. I hope this aids them in that.
Tumblr media
That said, Ohh boy, here we go. =]
-----------------------------------------
"This series [Clone Wars Series] at least to George is NOT EU, it is a part of Star Wars as he sees it. I think if anything there was a period where Henry [Gilroy] and I had to learn exactly what it took to be a part of George Lucas’ Star Wars, and tell the Star Wars story his way. We had to learn how to look at the Galaxy from his point of view and let go of some of what we considered canon after we found out the ideas were only EU." ~  Dave Filoni 2008
----
"This is Star Wars, and I don't make a distinction between [The Clone Wars] series and the films." ~ George Lucas, SciFiNow, October 2011
Tumblr media
-------------
"The TV series is exactly like the movies, exactly. I mean, you can see it in the clip. It’s basically just the movies only with cartoon characters. It’s basically a dramatic series, there’s a lot of action, a bit of humor." ~ George Lucas, 2008 Interview about the Clone Wars series.
Tumblr media
------------------
One of the main characters in the feature film, a 90 minute introduction to the series that hits theaters August 15, is Anakin's teenage Padawan, Ahsoka. Lucas said:
"[With Ahsoka] I wanted to develop a character who would help Anakin settle down. He's a wild child after [Attack of the Clones]. He and Obi Wan don't get along. So we wanted to look at how Anakin and Ahsoka become friends, partners, a team. When you become a parent or you become a teacher you have to become more respnsible. I wanted to force Anakin into that role of responsibility, into that juxtaposition. I have a couple of daughters so I have experience with that situation. I said instead of a guy let's make her a girl. Teenage girls are just as hard to deal with as teenage boys are."
~ George Lucas 2008

Tumblr media
--------------------
"I get all my information on the Clone Wars from him. [George Lucas]"
"I can pitch him ideas and say 'lets do certain things', but at the end of the say he will say 'yes' or he will say 'no', and than that is the way it's gonna go."
~ Dave Filoni, 2019
-------------------
"The importance of The Clone Wars that cannot be understated is that it was the last huge expansion of the Star Wars universe that came directly from George Lucas." ~ Pablo Hidalgo
----------------
"Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the biggest education on how George Lucas saw his Universe. Over 44 hours of his storytelling compared to the 13 hours or so he spent in live action."
~ Pablo Hidalgo 2018 https://ibb.co/ryvk5K2
------------------------------
DAVE FILONI: The First Time George Lucas Talked About Ahsoka https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAjnLseHQwA
Tumblr media
--------------------
"In discussions directly with George, he was very adamant about Jango not being Mandolorian, which is the entire reason that scene existed that moment. To have that specificity that Jango was not Mandolorian at least not to Mandolorians."
~ Dave Filoni, 2019 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6p9sM7OLFk https://ibb.co/WgCGf1X https://ibb.co/Y2wLHd0
Tumblr media
FROM THE FILONI FILES: In the season 2 episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, Mandalorian prime minister Almec made the claim that Jango Fett is not a Mandalorian warrior. This info stunned many fans who always assumed he was pure Mando. Many claimed Almec was lying, others claimed it was a cover-up. This topic came up a few times during our conversations with Dave Filoni. In this compilation, Dave addresses the issue and sets the record straight.

This of course resulted in massive retcons of the Expanded Universe version of Mandolorians. This wasn't on accident, this was intentional on Lucas part because he was pissed at some of the liberties and things people in the EU were saying that went against the agreement in allowed the EU to come into existance at all.
Seperate Universes. This wasn’t figurative, this was meant literally, and Lucas said it over and over. Plus he found out they were using the term  'canon' in reference to EU things, and that was a massive no no. Only his direct works were canon. This went against the agreement he made with Howard Roffman, who really didn't keep his side of the bargain officially. They were essentially lieing and being deceitful about the EU's standing. That whole Canon Tier, that wasn't a policy, that was the filing system Leland Chee used for the Holocron. It was only used by Lucas Licensing. It was all a big shame to make people think the EU had more standing in the SWs than it did by the legitimate agreement. Roffman was concerned that if people knew it was a separate universe and it wasn't canon that they would be less likely to spend their money on it because 'it didn't count'.
Roffman couldn't get Lucas to agree to it being one universe, he tried over and over again, but Lucas wasn't having it. This was behind closed doors at the time of course, Roffman comes clean about in a live broadcasted interview with a studio audience when taking questions.
They couldn't get Lucas to budge, and Lucas didn't really care about the retcons he might cause, and there was a lot of fighting over it. But, of course, Lucas was the boss and it was his final say. This had been ongoing thing, it wasn’t something happened overnight.
That's why you have accidental retcons of major story lines, opps... He says what is and isn't canon, no one else.  People weren’t following the guidelines he set, and he had been a pretty good sport about it overall. Again, this wasn’t overnight. It built up over time.
There’s some speculation about the specifics, but that there had been many angry words said, back and forth in the background. Roffman and Lucas apparently had a lot of loud conversations.
“So we would have very interesting skirmishes because we had a bunch of stuff that became to the fans pretty much canon [Head-canon] about what happened after Return of the Jedi, what different places in the galaxy were called, lots of different things and if he was proposing to do something in the prequels that contradicted that we would have long debates which usually ended at least after the first session with "I don't care this is what I'm doing", but after he 4th or 5th session sometimes "Alright 'maybe' we can change it this way."
~ Howard Roffman, 2017
[I’ll be sharing more very important quotes from that Interview with Howard Roffman soon.]
A great deal of the time, Lucas wouldn’t budge. The Mandolorian Storyline in The Clone Wars being one such example of that.
This resulted in Karen Traviss losing her mind over the Mandolorians Lucas made in canon, and she was saying she wouldn't go along with it because they were 'changing canon', which is totally untrue, but she made some public statements about it
"Please also be aware of one basic fact - all writers for a franchise have to follow official canon. You can't go off and do your own thing, or else the book won't get approved and printed. It's that simple. So please don't keep asking me to carry on in the old canon, because I'm just not allowed to."
Karen Traviss EU Author, 2009.
[This is what insanity looks like when you write it down. - Must follow canon, but wont let me carry on in the old Canon? Earth to Karen, please respond. The EU wasn’t canon!! ]
So Lucas shot back thru his head writer on the Clone Wars series, Henry Gilroy whom himself had been an EU author in the Clone Wars comics before being tapped for Canon Clone Wars series who responded, although not directly to her, but in response to her being unwilling to go on and leaving over it.
"It is unfortunate that [EU author Karen Traviss is] moving on because [of] her opinion that canon is being changed. I guess the big problem is the assumption that her work is canon in the first place.  After working with George on The Clone Wars series I know there are elements of her work that are not in line with his vision of Star Wars.."
~ Henry Gilroy, The Clone Wars series Head Writer/ EU Author [Comics] 2009
-----------------------
To Lucas, the entire Saga is about Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader, of course he was going to be heavily involved in the Clone Wars series, Anakin was one of the major reoccuring characters in it, that's Lucas pride and joy. But I digress....
Tumblr media
-----------------------
“For me and my training here at Lucasfilm, working with George, he and I always thought the Expanded Universe was just that. It was an expanded universe. Basically it’s stories that are really fun and really exciting, but they’re a view on Star Wars, not necessarily canon to him. That was the way it was from the day I walked into Lucasfilm with him all through Clone Wars, everything we worked on, he felt the Clone Wars series and his movies were what was actually the reality of it all, the canon..."
~ Dave Filoni 2017
---------
"In the same interview, Dave Filoni said that George Lucas told him, that the movies and The Clone Wars television series, were the only thing Lucas considered canon." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_expanded_to_other_media
----------
"That’s one of the biggest debates in Star Wars, what counts? *The idea of what is canon? When I talk to George I know that he considers his movies, this series and his live-action series canon." ~ Dave Filoni, SW:TCW 2008
-----------
"I always think of the research you speak of as what I knew about the EU before I took this job. As I stated above, working directly with George changes the way you see the EU and everything in it."
~ Dave Filoni 2008
--------------
What do you think about Star Wars: The Clone Wars not following the continuity established previously in books and comics for the timeline between Episodes II and III? Could all those events that are being unfolded ever be folded into a coherent timeline? Some time ago you started a podcast related to The Clone Wars, will there ever be new episodes?
"As far as continuity, I see The Clone Wars as being no different than the arrival of the prequels in 1999. We fans knew that those movies would be a representation of the true Star Wars universe as imagined by George Lucas, and in some cases, it would not perfectly match the stories told by Expanded Universe authors. So, we had to unlearn all we had learned about the Mon Calamari being discovered by the Empire, about Boba Fett being Jaster Mereel, and about the Republic having a standing military.
I think with each episode, we start to get a better understanding about what the real Star Wars universe is like."
Pablo Hidalgo 2010

"There's this notion that everything changed when everything became Legends. And I can see why people think that. But, you know, having worked with George I can tell you that it was always very clear -- and he made it very clear -- that the films and the TV shows were the only things that he considered Canon. That was it.
"So everything else was a world of fun ideas, exciting characters, great possibilities, the EU was created to explore all those things. But from the filmmaking world I was brought into, the films and TV shows were it". ~ Dave Filoni speaking about working with George Lucas

"What George did with the films and The Clone Wars was pretty much *his universe ,” Chee said. “He didn’t really have that much concern for what we were doing in the books and games. So the Expanded Universe was very much separate." ~ Leland Chee, 2017 - SYFY WIRE

“Lucas’ canon – and when I say ‘his canon’, I’m talking about what he was doing in the films and what he was doing in The Clone Wars  – was hugely important. But what we were doing in the books really wasn’t on his radar.”

Pablo Hidalgo on Lucas and the EU being separate Universes. https://i.redd.it/3fpbkocr43q01.png "He [Lucas] only considers his movies and TV projects as his universe, and told the Clone Wars writers to only worry about those."
[That really says it all.]
-------------------
“The most definitive canon of the Star Wars universe is encompassed by the feature films and television productions in which George Lucas is directly involved. The movies and the Clone Wars television series are what he and his handpicked writers reference when adding cinematic adventures to the Star Wars oeuvre. But Lucas allows for an Expanded Universe that exists parallel to the one he directly oversees. […] Though these [Expanded Universe] stories may get his stamp of approval, they don’t enter his canon unless they are depicted cinematically in one of his projects.”

[Orginal commentor] - "Some facebook site just posted a "Bring back GeorgeLucas" petition....wrong on so many levels. With Ep. lll & TCW he went out ona high."
[Pablo Hidalgo]   "Why would he ever come back to these folks? All that love and goodwill from the internet.=]"
[Second commentator] - "I remember the EU fans in the early-mid 00's trashed George endlessly, and now they act like he's their savior."
[Pablo Hidalgo] - *"And yet we are following his model of regarding the EU vs. his canon. Weird."
[Second commentator] - "Well they get the false impression that George was a big EU fan and stood by it."
[Pablo Hidalgo] - "Where do they get this stuff? =] It's like his last 3 movies and six seasons of TCW didn't happen!"

Q: Hi Mr Chee! I’ve got a question about continuity – are all the various different media of Star Wars (the films, TCW, the video games, the EU) intended to form a single universe, or is the EU intended as a parallel, alternate universe (like, for example, the different continuities between the various Batman comics and films)? I realise that fans tend to each have their own personal preferences, but I was wondering what the official Lucasfilm company policy regarding this was? Many thanks!
"The dual universe question comes up often. I know George Lucas has mentioned it being two universes, but that’s not how I see it. His vision is definitely not beholden to ours, but ours is definitely beholden to his."
Leland Chee 2012
[Nabbed!!! He was still talking his 'singular universe' garbage the week before heh]
Tumblr media
-----------------------
“Star Wars continuity, even EU continuity, does not rest on my shoulders. Our licensees submit product directly to either our editors or our product development managers. The Holocron serves as a tool for them to check any issues regarding continuity, and after that, if the editors or developers have any questions, they pass it along to me to check for continuity. At the same time, I am constantly on the lookout to make sure that any new continuity being created gets entered in the Holocron. With regard to the the films and The Clone Wars, I am not involved in continuity approvals though I have often been asked to provide reference material.”

These are just some of them, there are alot more and even in ones where it doesn't specifically site Lucas in the title, he comes up in all of them at certain points and talks about working with Lucas on the Clone Wars, so if your interested in this subject, it really pays to listem to all of them, they're facisinating insights and you learn so much about so many things both in story and out of story, some really good stuff.
They're call ins for Rebel Force Radio, They interview Filoni constantly, theres a ton of of them on Youtube. This should get you started and than you can go from there on your own if you were interested and hearing more. Really good stuff.
--------------------
There’s a lot more, but I think this should serve as a good example of just how pervasive Lucas’ direct involvement in the Clone Wars series was.
Lucas loved it. He saw it exactly like the movies in terms of importance.

Poe’s Out of Commission Part 4
This literally woke me up and i had to write this! I hope you like it! Part 4 to ‘Poe’s out of Commission’ I kind of combined the ‘you do something stupid and poe gets protective’ into this. but i still hope to make a separate imagine for that altogether! Anyways, enjoy and as always leave comments and requests in my inbox. i’ll get to them when i can! Thank you!
Word Count : 1547
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
-
Luckily for you, Kylo Ren didn’t check your wrist for any sort of communication. Being a bit tech savvy you had installed a communications system into a bracelet that Poe had gotten you many dates ago. You treasured it for many reasons, and now it was going to be the key to getting you safely back home to Poe.
Standing up, you grabbed what was left of the gag they used on you, clipped the chunky bracelet to it and aimed for an air vent in the wall. It took a couple of attempts but finally you got the bracelet hooked to the vent, you gave it a couple test tugs to make sure it wouldn’t come undone and began to climb up the wall. You neared the vent and looked over your shoulder, for being a prisoner Kylo Ren was so  keen on not letting escape, your guard was pretty slack.
Outside the vent, you pushed on it and luckily it opened after you unscrewed the bolts on it thanks to a pin you wore in your hair. Being a girl really came in handy at times. Carefully you squeezed into the vent and placed it back to its original position, and removed the gag.,best not give them an exact trail of where you were headed.
You leaned against the wall of the vent and brought the bracelet back to your lips. “BB-8, where are you? We need to hurry, this is going way too easy.”
*beep**beep*
“Perfect, be right there.”
Following B.B.-8’s instructions you twisted and turned your way through the vents as quietly as you could, before crawling over a grate. Looking down you noticed a very happy looking BB-8 in the middle of a pile of troopers, looking a tad singed but still alive.
“Unscrew it.” You told him and he lifted his robot arms and undid it, you grabbed it before it could fall and alert the entire ship of what you were up to.
“WHERE IS SHE????”
You turned immediately, eyes wide with fear. “BB-8, we’ve got to hurry! Get up here!”
He lifted his head which you grabbed and pulled himself up. Next to you in the vent he began to roll. “Command center, 8, we’ve really got to hurry. Did they bring Poe’s ship aboard too?”
A confirming beep from the droid had you smirking. “That’s a good piece of news. We don’t have long before Kylo finds us! They’ve got sensors and droids of their own. Also, glad your okay, BB, looked like they got you pretty bad.”
*beep*
“Yeah, I’m glad I’m alright too. Now come on, we’ve got to grab those plans for the Resistance. Deal with their lectures then, but for now we have to survive Ren!”
Your communication beacon kept giving the base mixed signals. It lit up like someone was about to speak, other times it just beeped like crazy like a double communication was occurring and nothing could get through.
“Doe he still have the beacon or does she have it back?” Someone asked.
Poe shook his head. “They would’ve taken anything that gave a communication signal away from her. They’d know she’d try to get back to us. They’re not bright but they’re not stupid either. Now, what are we going to do?”
“Give her the hope we know she’d give us. Poe, she’s a crafty girl, I think something is going on that we don’t know.” Leia spoke softly.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, I don’t see how they’d find her and capture her so easily. Think about it Poe, what she said just before they got her. Did you notice she sounded distracted?”
Poe thought about it and wanted to slap himself after thinking about it for a moment. It was so obvious. You had a plan, a very stupid plan but you had one nonetheless and of course it’d involve being captured.
“She did this on purpose!”
Leia’s eyes went up in a confirming way. “As I said Commander, give her the hope she deserves. I think we’ll be seeing her very soon.”
-
Finding your way to the Command Center was easy enough, avoiding detection on the other hand was not, luckily for you again, BB-8 was able to cloak you two whenever a First Order droid or trooper came looking. Every once in a while you’d hear Kylo Ren yelling and slashing at things with his lightsaber, but he stayed far from you.
Over the Command Center, you gave BB-8 a look.
“Need to get those plans, BB, need to get them quick. We get those plans, we find our way back to Poe’s X-Wing and then we go home. Simple right?”
BB-8 gave you a light shock in response.
“Ow! Hey, need some happy beeps from you, buddy! I’m only trying to stay positive. I really just miss Poe and want to see him.”
Another slight shock.
“Ouch! Alright, I know you miss him too. Jeesh, let’s just hurry, and no more shocking or I’ll shock you back to the Clone Wars.”
There were no more shocks after that.
You quietly removed a grate and jumped down into the Command Center once you made sure it was all clear, BB-8 soon followed and moved over to their main power console, immediately pulling data from it.
*beep*
“All of it, buddy, don’t know what will help us but can’t hurt to have it all.”
You remained on lookout while BB-8 did his thing, thanks to a blaster from the troopers he took out, you had a sense of protection for the both of you.
“This seem strangely easy, BB. No one here to look out for us. Where else would they think I’d go? You don’t think they’re letting us get away with all this, do you?”
Now you were beginning to doubt yourself and this plan, that was until BB-8 made a happy beep. You didn’t look over your shoulder to acknowledge him, so he rolled in front of you and showed you a mini hologram that he’d recovered from their system.
“What is that BB-8? What am I looking at?”
*beep*
“A new ship and a base? Looks like Kylo already has his palace planned out. What do you say to taking this back to the Resistance and putting a little rain on Kylo Ren’s parade?” A little laugh escaped your lips, it felt good, felt like hope. You took a deep breath and motioned for the droid to leave. “Let’s find the X-Wing buddy, let’s go home. It’s been a while.”
-
Back at the Resistance base, Poe twisted the necklace you’d gotten him between his fingers over and over again. He didn’t like sitting back, even if what the General said about you was right. He was worried about you, hadn’t seen or heard from you in person in forever. Not to mention the fact you were still being held captive by the new leader of the First Order, it was all too much.
His eyes began to close, sleep begging him, but he refused. Shaking his head and splashing himself with a cup of water, his eyes searched the radar scans. Nothing. He still held hope however, he could feel it, he just didn’t know how much longer he could wait for it.
-
A few cut corners, a pile of trooper bodies behind you, and finally BB-8, followed by you, entered a shipyard aboard. Towards the opposite end of the room was the greatest thing in the galaxy. Poe’s X-Wing
You smiled at the droid. “Get us there in one piece and back to the Resistance, and I’ll let you be the first to give Poe a hug when we return.”
The droid gave a happy squeal and set off at a fast pace, you quickly behind him. Poe’s X-Wing came into view sooner than you thought and you were happy for that.
“So glad they didn’t hurt it, Poe would’ve killed us after he held us, knowing we were safe. Now, I’m tired of these First Order idiots, let’s go home.”
A menacing laugh from behind you had your blood run cold.
“I don’t know what information your puny droid stole from us, but you won’t get out of here alive with it. I’ll be sure to send this ship back in pieces, a little gift, along with a loving note saying how stupid you were trying to leave here.”
Slowly turning to face Kylo Ren, you saw his face twitch, his eyes angry.
“I don’t mean you any harm, Kylo Ren. I just want to go back home.”
“Give me back what you stole?”
You shook your head and lifted your hand. “I don’t think so. BB-8, let’s shut him up and go back home.”
Together you and BB-8 sent out blasts that Kylo Ren for whatever reason didn’t block. They hit him in multiple places, you didn’t bother to stay and see where he got hit or if he stayed down.
Climbing into the cockpit, BB-8 suctioned himself up, you turned the ship on and placed the helmet on your head, sliding the compartment back over your head you sighed in relief. “Now, we can finally leave. Happy beeps buddy, we’re about to see Poe again.”

Star Trek
I have never actually seen Star Trek, I mean I saw some clips here and there, know what it looks like and what some of the main characters are and roughly the plot but I never fully watched it and there is just way too much of it for me to know where to even start. I assume the TV show from the 60′s but Im not sure if most people actually got into it then or through the reboot that happened few years back. Anyway I know that it has some really cool looking aliens in it so intead of writing a review I’ll just have a look at some alien species from within star trek.
Tumblr media
Cheron
First appearance Star Trek: The Original Series “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” (1969)
“When we first met the Cheron, there was only two members of this species left: Bele (played by the Riddler, the great Frank Gorshin) and Lokai. Bele was hunting Lokai whom Bele deemed a traitor after the planet Cheron was wiped out due to centuries of racial wars.
Apparently, some Cheron were black on the left and white on the right while other members of this advanced species possessed the opposite skin alignment. Due to this difference, the entire population — save Lokai and Bele — were eradicated. Bele hijacked the Enterprise and used his vast array of mental capabilities to hunt for Lokai.
The whole opposite was a thinly veiled, but powerful allusion to the destructive potential and sheer idiocy of racism — a message as powerful today as it was in the ’60s. Of course, you know I’m going to say that Mego made a Cheron doll, a toy I treasured in my childhood and called Oreo Man.”
See I like this species because of how simple it looks, like lets be honest it’s literally two dudes with their faces painted black and white straight through the middle. I like how they also explain that there was a lot of stigma beteen the members of the same species based on which side of their face is white and which is black to the point where the entire race killed each other off because of it, bit over the top but makes the point I guess.
“The inhabitants of Cheron were an extremely long-lived race; one representative of them was reputed to have pursued another such representative, an accused criminal from among his people, across the Milky Way Galaxy for over 50,000 years. Unfortunately, the species destroyed itself in a civil war caused by racism. There were only two known survivors by 2268, who the crew of the USS Enterprise believed would ultimately kill each other due to their hate.”
Tumblr media
Species 8472
First Appearance: “Star Trek: Voyager” Part 1 (1997)
“Species 8472 existed in an extra-dimensional bit of hell known as fluidic space. When the Borg discovered the fluidic dimension, the ever deadly race of cybernetic killers busted through the dimensions and attempted to assimilate Species 8472. 8472 was having none of that and fought back, creating weapons that could slay the Borg with ease. In fact, 8472 was able to destroy the Borg Cubes in seconds. (Man, that’s like taking down the Death Star with a single bullet.) Sadly, Species 8472 also took out many innocent Delta Quadrant planets, which forced the crew of Voyager to get involved.
The Borg and Voyager had to form an unlikely alliance to drive Species 8472 back to fluidic space. 8472 was one of the closet things Trek fans ever got to Lovecraft-like cosmic horrors, as even the Borg could not stand up to these waling nightmares. This species appeared a few more times on Voyager until Captain Janeway was able to broker a peace with these terrors that exist behind the fabric of time and space.”
I like this species because although it does have an overall humanoid looking body unlike most Star Trek species it does actually look alien rather than space human. I like how they want to make them creepy and from what I’ve seen they are always kept in shadows, and I also like how much taller they are compared to people just to add to that creepy factor. I want to make the aliens in my story kind of similar to how these guys look. But instead of being kept in shade they will just be a really dark grey or pitch black colour. And I also wanted to make them really tall just like this species but  Species 8472 looks really buff and muscly to be honest meanwhile I want my aliens to be tall and slender.
Tumblr media
Tholians
First appearance: Star Trek: The Original Series “The Tholian Web” (1968)
“Get a load of these psychedelic xenophobes. Yeah, the Tholians might look like a funky black light album cover come to life, but, really, they are brutal, territorial, hateful, and will do anything to keep other species out of Tholian territory. But, hey, they are known for the punctuality, so take heart in the fact that, when they kill you, it’ll be done in a timely fashion.
The Tholians cruise around their sector of space in geometric rainbow ships, making the aesthetic of the race more Yes album cover and less cool space despots. The Tholians first encountered the crew of the Enterprise when the USS Defiant flew too close to Tholian space.
Always protective of their borders, the Tholians phased the Defiant out of real space and into an interspace dimension. Kirk himself was phased out of time and space (for Shatner, it wouldn’t be the first or last time this happened), but Spock and the Enterprise were able to get their captain back and pimp-slap the Tholians.
The Enterprise under Jonathan Archer also ran afoul of these crystalline killers. The Tholians are a great example that in space, threats can come in any shape and even rainbows can kill you.”
“In 2152, the Tholians made an unusual move; they traveled far beyond their territory and actively sought to possess a 31st century Earth vessel discovered by the United Earth starship Enterprise NX-01, under the command of Jonathan Archer. Four Tholian ships intercepted and disabled the combat cruiser Tal'Kir, while it waited to rendezvous with Enterprise. They, in turn, attacked and defeated a Suliban fleet that was in pursuit of the arriving Earth ship. They then successfully removed the pod from Enterprise's possession, only to have the pod return to its proper time moments later. “
I like how original this species looks. I never seen an alien species in any media before that only communicates through technology with other species because they are too scared to actually go out and talk to them while at the same time be ready to anihilate anyone that crosses into their territory. I think it’s a quite good contrast of fearing something but not hesitating to defend yourself from it, it’s like the entire species represents both sides of the fight or flight concept.
Tumblr media
Jem’Hadar
First appearance: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine “The Jem’Hadar” (1994)
“One of the greatest and most efficiently deadly militaries the galaxy have ever seen, the foot soldiers of the Dominion — the Jem’Hadar — are also one of the more tragic species that can be found in the Trekverse.
Jem’Hadar reach maturity in the span of about three days. They are genetically programmed to be the perfect galactic foot soldier by their masters, the Vorta. To insure control, the Vorta have withheld an essential enzyme from the Jem’Hadar genetic makeup. This enzyme is supplied to the Jem’Hadar in the form of The White, a liquid that the Jem’Hadar has filtered into their systems through a tube in their necks. Essentially, Jem’Hadar are drug-addicted soldiers unleashed upon the galaxy.
The Jem’Hadar were the main Dominion force that laid siege to Deep Space Nine during the Dominion War and were nearly unstoppable. The need for The White was a religion to the Jem’Hadar, who became one of the most feared species in any quadrant.
Jem’Hadar are incredibly resilient and possess keen minds that help them plan for battles. Despite all this, most Jem’Hadar die very young due to the fact that they are essentially cannon fodder for the Dominion. Yet, the Jem’Hadar value duty and loyalty above all else as they embrace their lot as pawns of the Dominion. All for The White.”
I really like how this species looks beause from what I read they are bred soldiers so just thinking about the amount of masks and make up that got put into I don’t know even a dozen of these guys is quite astonishing. I like how they made them look like lizards as well with horns and scales it immediately tells the viewer through visuals that the Jem’Hadar are probably a fighter type. Also I like the decision to make them blue in colour which I assume was intentional because it serves two roles, first they are lizards s they are coldbooded making sense why blue is the color they go for and second the fact they are coldblooded could be viewed as a metaphor for the fact that they are soldiers that are bred to kill which kind of rounds up this species. I also would like to compare them to the Clone Troopers from star wars because the backstory for the Jem’hadar is literally the same as for the clones, they are both genetically made and bred to be soldiers for a war where thousands of them die but they still remain loyal to the cause.  But there is a major difference that I feel star trek didn’t look too far into, as Jem’hadar are said to grow up in 3 days and ready to serve meanwhile the clones do age in double the speed of a normal human but they spend their youth training to be soldiers which makes them more believable in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Andorians
First appearance: Star Trek: The Original Series “Journey to Babel” (1968)
“The Andorians are an aggressive yet advanced race that was one of the first alien races that formed the original Federation of Planets with humanity.
The Andorians have distinctive blue skin, white hair, and two protruding antennae. The blue skinned humanoids have an advanced armada and a long history of conflict with the Vulcans. This conflict was put aside as Andorians entered into the Federation and, with it, decades of peace. But peace wasn’t easy, as seen in Star Trek: Enterprise, in which Federation Captain Archer and Andorian Captain Thy’lek Shran developed an adversarial relationship that, thankfully, culminated in a friendship based on mutual respect.
The Andorians are more than a bit xenophobic as they refer to humans and Vulcans as “pink skins” and have a long standing mistrust of everything not Andorian. In fact, the Andorians don’t even trust their offshoot race, the very rarely encountered, white-skinned, psychic Aenar.
Enterprise is a bit unfairly-maligned by some Trekkers, but it will always be the show that took the Andorians from background characters to a narratively-explored race with deep contradictions. Of course, I need to mention that the Andorian was also one of the final Trek dolls Mego produced. It is very sparkly.”
I thought this species was kind of funny in design. They are supposed to be taken really seriously from what I read and the look on that guys face in the picture and are a very agressive and violent species meanwhie their design supports none of that. They have a very cold yet welcoming colour palette and are rocking a white afro with antenas on top of it, like I’m sorry and I know their species is kind of about prejudice but how can they be taken seriously if they dress like knights in space and look like they came back from an 80′s halloween party?
Tumblr media
Jaylah
First appearance: Star Treck Beyond (2016)
“Years prior to her encounter with the USS Enterprise crew, Jaylah and her family, like many before them, were attacked by Krall and imprisoned on Altamid. Jaylah and her family quickly realized that people were routinely taken from Krall's holding cells and killed, so they decided to attempt escape. During the attempt, Jaylah and her father were confronted by Krall's subordinate Manas. Jaylah's father stayed behind to hold off Manas, buying Jaylah time to flee at the cost of his own life. Jaylah discovered the derelict hulk of the Freedom-class USS Franklin and made her home in it. She hid it using holographic technology and set up multiple defensive traps in the surrounding area. Inside the vessel, she discovered a music player, from which she particularly liked music featuring "beats and shouting". She also learned how to speak English from the ship's records. In time, Jaylah became a formidable warrior, skilled in martial arts and in wielding a quarterstaff that doubled as a rifle.”
I feel there isn’t much information about her species because the entire species is literally named after this character and it’s a relativly new character as well so I assume no actual canon explenation exists for her species as of yet. But I do really like how she looks. She has an identical colour scheme to the cheron species I looked at but its executed so much better here with very cool looking face tatoos / markings that make her look actually interesting unlike the cherons that are literally dudes with their faces painted different colour on each side. She kind of reminds me of Darth Maul from star wars with the face markings but there they look so interesting like theres just something about that cold white with deep navy blue tinted black on top of it that just catches the eye more. I also like her eye contacts, I don’t know why I just feel the yellow eyes just complete the look nicely.

Keep Yourself Energized With Some Dope Naruto Fights
What helps you wake up in the morning and keeps you going throughout the day? Coffee? Maybe some music? Excitement about the contents of your schedule? Eh, that sounds fine, I guess. But have you ever considered starting your day off with awesome Naruto fights? Doctors that I definitely spoke to all agreed that the healthiest way to get yourself going and keep yourself feeling energetic is to watch clips of Naruto, Sasuke and the rest just going to absolute war with each other.
So, because the DFTCODNB (Doctors For The Compilation Of Dope Ninja Battles) said so, I've assembled some fights from the Naruto franchise here for you to watch and enjoy. I hope they wake you up and lead to a more productive day of rewatching Naruto, probably.
  Sasuke vs Orochimaru
youtube
One of the best things about early Naruto fights was the feeling of "Oh, man. You are totally out of your league here, bro. Good luck." Everyone was kind of punching above their weight class, starting back when Naruto was tasked with stealing the bells from Kakashi and, ummm, had a bit of trouble. Goku spent the early chapters of Dragon Ball just kicking the crap out of anything that breathed near him, and early One Piece is marked by big guys making fun of Luffy, only to have their jaws rearranged by his fists. But in Naruto, the stakes were odd and deadly - a bunch of well-trained experts who were totally down to pummel sixth graders.
But to watch Sasuke hold his own in a fight against the creepy-and-getting-creepier-by-the-minute Orochimaru was awesome. Obviously, some of Sasuke's actions later on in the franchise are...questionable, but one thing you could count on from him were pretty cool action scenes. This Naruto episode should've been nominated for Best Picture? What won that year? Crash? Umm, does anyone in Crash use Dragon-Flame Jutsu like a Godzilla? Get it together, Hollywood. Watch the rest of the fight here.
  Rock Lee vs Gaara
youtube
When we talk about THE fights in shonen battle series, Rock Lee vs Gaara usually comes to mind. But it isn't just about everyone losing their minds when Lee drops the weights (though that is a great moment.) It's about Rock Lee's never-give-up attitude and hard-hitting Taijutsu clashing with Gaara's smarmy sand powers. It's about the underdog energy of the fight which is different from most of the Chunin exam clashes so far. It's about Rock Lee kind of representing all of us, someone who isn't gifted in the same way that many other ninja are, and so he has to work twice as hard to keep up.
Naruto is the main character of the show and he has a lot of relatable traits, but Rock Lee, at least in the beginning, is our proxy. We see the ninja world through his eyes and when we watch him confuse Gaara with his speed and tactics, we feel the same thrill as him. Because we know that WE have to work that hard to accomplish our goals. Watch the rest of the fight here.
   Kakashi vs Obito
youtube
Kakashi is one of Naruto's best characters - a silent mentor that loves his romance novels and is the living embodiment of the "*teleports behind you* nothing personnel, kid" meme. Seriously, go watch Naruto again and count how many times a bad guy is like "Ha! I'm unstoppable. Oh god, Kakashi is here." And it never gets old! I could watch Kakashi deliver surprise beatdowns forever. Six seconds ago, he was blushing about his reading material and now he's the coolest character in all of fiction.
He's taken to the next level with Shippuden, in which we get a crash course in his backstory and his relationship with antagonist Obito. And their fight is one of the best in the franchise, not just because it's very, very well-animated, but because there's no dialogue and just flashbacks (which are also of them fighting) and sad music. I would put " Loves to watch former friends fight to tragic orchestral pieces" on my Tinder profile.  Watch the rest of the fight here.
   Naruto & Sasuke vs Momoshiki
youtube
This might be the most shared clip of Boruto ever and there's a good reason for that. As soon as Boruto yells "Dad!" which is pop culture shorthand for foreshadowing something awesome about to happen, it's on. And what makes this fight so great is, again, the stellar animation, but also Momoshiki's increasing frustration with the winners of the Two Cool Dads Tag Team Championship. He seems to start pretty collected, but he soon realizes that this duo of fathers is about to rip him to shreds.
That's one of my favorite anime tropes in general - previously confident villain is now getting wasted in a way that they never could've predicted. It's endlessly satisfying. Watch the rest of the fight here.
  Team 7 vs Ku
youtube
This is one of the most underrated fights in Boruto, as it's got a combination of all the stuff I dig about the series: teamwork, clone techniques, Sarada shouting while she punches through stone, etc. What's not to like? I also really, really enjoy genetic experiment bad guys, ones who never asked to be born and now are gonna take out their rage on the world. The Mewtwo/Frankenstein monster type, if you will. Watch the rest of the fight here.
Well, I hope you've found yourself energized for the rest of your day after watching all of these. And if you're still tired, I'm sorry. I've done all I can literally do - yell about Naruto on the internet.
What is your favorite Naruto fight? Which ones do you think are underrated? Let me know in the comments!

7 Remarkable FL Studio power tips
  1. Playing with time It's annoying when you've set a plan, only to find you could do with adding an added couple of bars right in the center of the song. Well, you can! Initially, to choose a part of time, hold Ctrl after that click and drag on the timeline (on top of the Playlist). The point from where you click is where the new area will begin, and the size of your drag establishes the amount of time you'll add. Let go of the mouse button yet maintain Ctrl held back, after that click Insert. Your desired amount of time will be placed, with the clips moved to the right. If you wish to do the very same, however slice and move all clips, repeat the procedure but hold Ctrl+ Alt, as opposed to simply Ctrl.
    2. Faster ways to success Similar to any DAW, you could conserve on your own bags of time by memorizing FL Studio's many useful key-board shortcuts. Our favourites are the F secrets for navigating around important task areas: Toggle Playlist (F5), Toggle Step Sequencer (F6), Toggle Piano Roll (F7), Show/Hide Sample Browser (F8) and Show/Hide Mixer (F9). 3. Layers Piling two or even more noises is an essential production technique as well as FL Studio 12 makes this process easy. Merely add a Layer track, open its user interface, click the Channel Selector of the several channels you wish to layer to pick them, after that click 'Establish children' in the Layer screen's window. Currently play MIDI on the Layer channel, and also all of the youngster layers you chose will certainly play simultaneously. 4. Clone wars Often, you'll wish to modify a clip without affecting the other circumstances dotted throughout your task. Open your selected clip's drop-down (by means of the clip's top-left edge) and pick 'Make one-of-a-kind' to clone it. If you're collaborating with an audio clip, any edits will certainly still affect the initial sound documents - so rather, select 'Make special as sample' to literally clone the audio file for devastating modifying.
      5. Playlist navigating Knowing ways to rapidly navigate around projects will quickly enhance your workflow and also performance. Although scrollbars do the job, try utilizing your key-board's 1-5 keys to leap to predetermined size setups in both the Playlist and also Piano Roll. Alternatively, use your mouse's scroll wheel as you hold Ctrl to zoom in and also out horizontally; or scroll vertically by holding Alt as you removal the wheel. You'll zoom in on any place the computer mouse reminder is floating, so you could conveniently zoom right know a clip by drifting your pointer over it as you zoom. 6. Automation terminal When you intend to automate a synth control, right-click the parameter you intend to automate and also pick 'Develop automation clip'. This will automatically create an Automation Clip in the Playlist appointed to that parameter, so you could promptly begin drawing in your curves. 7. Riff rescue Do not you simply despise it when you play a remarkable riff on your key-board yet forget to videotape it, and also despite just how tough you try to play the same pattern in again, you never ever fairly appear to nail it like that very first time? Well, FL Studio 12 is constantly taped MIDI in the background and also thus could bring your long-lost riff back from the dead. Simply pick the network, then most likely to Equipment > Dump score log to selected pattern and also all the MIDI you played will certainly appear. What a lifesaver! 8. The Cloaked Storm: Chapter 20 - The Old Bazaar Mystery
Coruscant, Old Market Quarter, Old Market Bazaar
There were times he cursed the line of work he was in, when his impatience got the better of him. Being the Director of Field Operations for the Republic Ministry Of Intelligence, had its perks, certainly, and he had the ability to expedite things. But this particular thing? It gave him more grief than any other case in the past twenty years of his service.
He’d seen her potential the day she walked into the building - granted, Master Sinube had had a conversation with him beforehand. Valanthe had made the case for herself however. Force user or not, her’s was a keen, methodical mind. Always questioning, always looking, always seeing. Part of him admired her for it. The other part, however, always feared that one day she would get herself involved in business she wouldn’t be able to get out of. The day she and her team dug out the database from the Balmorran Arms Factory was the day his fears came true.
It was almost as if whoever was part of that whole scheme knew even before they reached the Resolute that the database was stolen and whom by. Orders came almost instantly to hand it over to the GAR, even before he had a chance to contact Riis and warn her to at least make a copy. Her men were good enough to crack it, and they would have, with time. Instead clone troopers are asked to deliver the database to complete unknowns.
His own queries into the matter set off alarms. He’d gotten a verbal warning from his counterpart in Administration. When he wouldn’t give it up, they had made it clear they were watching him, listening in, making sure he behaved. Then they started pulling up loyalty vetting on agents whose homeworlds were CIS or had recently joined the Republic.
When Xander realized that he would have to play the long game against his own, against the establishment he swore to protect, it hit him hard. Naturally the fates would have it that Valanthe called him at that moment demanding to know the truth and raising her concerns. His clipped and deflecting replies had an effect on her, thankfully and he had managed to have her back off for the time.
Night needed her to come to him, to Coruscant, where he could use his knowledge of the territory and it’s places to be shielded from view and ear, effectively against the would be listeners and followers. If he was being blocked, he would make sure that the Mirialan got to the bottom of it somehow. There was something very wrong in the upper echelons of the Republic if they allowed the army to dictate civilian business this intently. They were going through great lengths to contain whatever was in there.
Which, naturally, raised the question of what they were trying to hide. What was so damaging that those in charge got the GAR to pull the case from RMOI?
He needed to get his hands on the database, or at least a copy of what had been decrypted. So he took his time, slowly finding connections, finding people to talk to in convoluted, roundabout ways, doing his best not to get people hurt in the process. Xander knew one thing, one mistake from him and anyone whom he was in contact with regarding this could be in trouble.
Thankfully, Riis was receptive to his words and ideas when they met on Level 1313 at the Stinky Fish. She was equally as concerned as he was, if not more so, with the odd reassignments of her team and near death experiences since the Balmorra mission.
He too agreed that they needed to work both ends of the spectrum to find out what kind of a beehive they had poked. He would work his liaisons and contacts. Xander also needed to place Riis in a position where she could work up the GAR chain to try and gain access. It needed to look like it wasn’t deliberate, however, perhaps even like she was reassigned by someone else from under him, so that as little suspicion was raised as possible.
So he started making deliberate mistakes, slip ups in reports, in certain basic operations and management. Any little thing that would get someone’s attention. Soon came the first cautionary conversation, then another one and another. He found himself under performance review after a little while, then a suspension. This actually suited him, because it more or less freed his schedule up from other concerns.
Investigator Arren had been placed in temporary charge of Valanthe’s section and had began reviewing cases and personnel profiles. Valanthe and a Twi’lek agent were reassigned to the GAR on a temporary basis due to their field experiences with the clones and the war.
This suited Xander just fine. He knew Valanthe was smart enough to seize the opportunity it gave her. Especially if he created enough of a distraction on his end for her to dig unseen. More or less literally in her case.
So now he was at the Old Market Sector. It was one of the areas of Coruscant he didn’t visit often, mostly because he would send agents local to the area to deal with whatever needed to be dealt with. Dressed in non descript clothing, a hood over his head, his long coat wrapped tightly around his body, he looked like just another passerby on his way to work.
His CI (Confidential Informant) was a trader at the Old Market Bazaar, who had contacted him quite frantically several hours ago, claiming he had critical information for him regarding his investigation into the GAR and taking of RMOI cases. The elderly human from Temekla had been a reliable source of information to Xander for several years, so the agent listened when his asset was concerned.
The man had a fresh produce stall in the Old Market Bazaar and was just finishing with a customer as Xander approached.
“Good morning, young lad.” The elderly, dark skinned seller beckoned him closer.
“‘Mornin’,” Xander grumbled his usual greeting, “got any Bellassan peppers?”
Bellassan peppers were a favored spicy condiment on Coruscant, used in many dishes in many of the establishments on the planet-city.
The man nodded, motioning for Xander to follow him.
“Just got a fresh shipment this morning, come on back, I’ll let you pick them for yourself.” The man motioned.
Night nodded, knowing it was a way to securely get off the street where they could talk. That and for him to actually grab a few peppers, because they were his favorite spice. Plus, it also gave him credibility when he left the man’s shop/stall.
“You took your sweet time!” the man growled as the doors closed behind them.
Night pulled the hood off of his back, “Tomno,” he began, addressing the man by name, “I’m being watched, so I had to take the long way down.”
“So…it really is important, isn’t it? The whole mess the GAR keeps trying to stir?” Tomno sighed.
Night nodded, “what do you have?” He wasn’t keen on sharing information, even if he trusted Tomno.
“Me…” A weequay man stepped in from an adjoining room.
Night turned to face the man, surprise shown on his face. He had thought this particular agent dead. Harsak Vanth had disappeared in the line of duty at the beginning of the war and has been listed as MIA since, though the general consensus had been that he had been killed.
“Vanth…” Night reached for his sidearm and pointed it at the Weequay.
“Nononono! Stop! Night! Stop!” Tomno placed both of his hands on Xander’s pistol and tried to push it down. “You must listen to him! He has information I think you want!"
“I’ll listen, but I’m not putting the gun down,” Night snapped. “Stand next to him, Tomno. You know I don’t like surprises.”
The old man nodded, “I know. But I also know you want to know this. Tell him, Vanth. Tell him what you told me.”
“The Techno Union is supplying the Separatists. That’s what your people found on the Balmorra Database. The Balmorran Arms Factory is owned by them and they are using it as a front to supply the CIS with droid units.” Vanth sighed, raising his hands.
Whilst it explained a lot, how did an MIA agent come into possession of this information?
“Someone in the Senate or the Office of the Chancellor is trying to keep that intel from coming out…” Night muttered, still training his pistol on them. “How do you know all this? Where have you been all this time?”
Vanth waved it off, “nevermind that now. Someone with enough power knows a Senate member is working with the Separatists. Someone with enough power to command the GAR to do their bidding. Do you understand the enormity of this?”
“Of course, I do, Vanth. But you need to understand that I can’t just take your word for it, much as I want to believe it. Much as it makes perfect sense, all the sidelining we’ve been getting. Do you have any actual evidence to support this?”
“Your Balmorra database, it’s held under lock and key in the GAR R&D facility. All the evidence you need is there,” Harsak insisted easily.
Too easily in Night’s opinion. “How...do...you...know?”
“I can’t talk here, Xan,” the weequay said, moving slowly to tap in a set of coordinates on his wrist com. “Meet me there, at that time, I’ll tell you everything.”
“Let me guess, come alone?”
Vanth grinned.
“Alright.” Night finally put his pistol down, glancing at his own wrist comm, seeing a message received. He then holstered the pistol.
He stepped over to the pepper crates and picked a few random ones from the pile, then stepped towards the door, raising the hand holding the peppers.
“Thanks, Mister Sol. I’m looking forward to trying these tonight!” He called loudly as he exited the man’s shop as casually as he could, then he put the peppers into his coat pocket and headed towards the taxi.
Night’s appartment, Gallifrey Lane, Sector 2-12
The meeting was set for the next day, late in the evening which gave Xander enough time to send off information to an agreed dead drop for Valanthe to pick up when she could. As he set the gartro eggs to slowly simmer and infuse with the taba leaves, he set about preparing data for the dead drop.
He set his thoughts and discoveries down in a hard copy form, so that Valanthe could reference it if she needed to. Xander also relayed how the resurgence of Harsak Vanth concerned him, he also relayed the meeting time and place just in case something happened as well as his theories as to what may have happened with Vanth since the start of the war.
As his omelette was nearing completion, he chopped the bellassan peppers finely and diced them then added them to the omelette and mixed.
Xander then resumed dictating, his speech turning to text, “be careful, Vala. Getting access to GAR R&D will be more difficult than either of us imagine, with the security protocols they likely have there.”
He stepped over to the stove and fished out a small piece of the omelette, blew on it to cool it and tasted it. As always, it tasted just right, savory and spicy enough, with a dash of acidity to satisfy his pallate.
“I have faith that you can gain access to it, at least grab us a copy we can sift through so we can gather the evidence and present a case…” he continued, feeling his esophagus burning a little.
He continued into what Vanth had told him, feeling the burn increase. Chalking it off to heartburn which he often suffered from, he finished his dictations and sent off the data to the deaddrop. As he got up, he initiated the erasure sweep, to clear his commlogs from any communication towards the deaddrop, just in case.
He grabbed a fizzy drink from his chiller unit and set the table as the omelette was done and set about to eat. With how hungry he was, and the fizzy drink he didn’t give the increasing heartburn much mind until he was done.
Now that he thought about it, the burning sensation felt strange and he realized he was beginning to feel strange as well. Now that he no longer moved as much, he felt his hands shake and there were tremors in his legs.
He felt a cold type of sweat down his back and his eyes sprouted in yellow dots behind his corneas. Why was he having a low blood pressure attack? It never happened before, not with this type of food. He gingerly stood up, feeling the pressure in his head increase as his position changed.
Slowly, holding onto various furniture as he moved, Xander Night finally made it to the couch, plopping down on it unceremoniously. He let out a groan and covered his eyes with his forearm. Taking a deep breath, he tried to slow his breathing down, to even himself out. Closing his eyes, he tried to breathe slowly, evenly. It succeeded eventually, consciousness slowly leaving him…
“What the frak….just…” his speech slurred, “...happened?” The arm that was over his eyes slid onto his chest, the other fell over the edge, dangling to the floor.
Consciousness was no more.
