just an assortment of random thoughts i haven't yet expressed on here:

aside from the fact that idk why they felt the need to name the village, them naming the village gives the impression that it's just one village. rather then, you know, all that's left from the southern water tribe

also, it's much larger. and there are other teenagers in it.

my bf had to pause and yell for five minutes about comedic timing because of the scene with sokka and the toddlers. he was right of course but it still hurt

the joke wouldn't have landed anyway because they're not even toddlers

why does everyone take sokka seriously in this show. does his arc mean nothing to you (i know the answer is yes)

this isn't katara i'm not going to dwell on that. it's simply an entirely separate character. there's not even a point in trying to analyze this. another win for misogyny

another thing that made my partner endlessly angry was how katara simply cant waterbend in the first scene, then successfully breaks the fucking iceberg without even being angry or anything, then goes back to not being able to bend.

so many men explain bending to katara in this. im not going to dwell on it there's no point

sokka and the ideal of masculinity get along just fine. he is in fact the ideal of masculinity. not like that was a core theme of his original character or anything

something to be said at how desperately they're trying to make all the characters as likeable as they can. i could smell these 40 year old writers sweat through my screen and i didn't like it

it's also not working because they have no idea who these characters are or what made them good characters

ozai is stupid

i'm actually going to argue that every change they made here was for the worst. all of them. zuko being conscious and talking to aang? bad. the crew being the 41st division? bad. twink jee? bad.

the thing about the 41st division was that zuko didn't manage to save them. they did die. for a show that wants to be "darker" you sure missed some of the more tragic elements of the original

speaking of which, the only moments that actually made me feel something were zuko's scenes (and sometimes iroh's). dallas liu you're a legend and an icon

katara actively killed kya ok yeah sure this makes sense

the spirit world has a thing for sokka. sokka in particular. it's funny. one might even argue that it's narratively significant. you know what never mind

they're not planning ahead At All. they took some of the most essential moments from later seasons and just threw them at us in season one. the later episodes are not going to make sense. i hope they don't get to make them regardless.

why are they going back to omashu??? sure within the internal logic of the show it makes sense, but narratively, why???? you already did the secret tunnel. mai and ty lee were already introduced. what's left of season 2's omashu episode? doesn't matter i hope they don't make it

i cannot stress enough how nothing in season 2 is going to make sense. azula is already here. zuko has already had a ton of character development. even ozai himself wasn't supposed to be here. season 1's villain is zhao!!! he's the only one we see on screen, he's the only one the characters interact with!!! it's zuko and it's zhao and that's it!!!! you're not supposed to have the whole backstory!!!! you're not supposed to know the rest of them!!! that's what makes seasons 2 and 3 work!!!!! is this just going to be 3 seasons of the same characters fighting each other???

ozai's strategy doesn't work. if you send all your forces to the north who is going to attack omashu? are you implying this was made easier because omashu's army was fighting with the north? they weren't. we saw it we were there. are you implying conquering omashu would have been impossible on a different day because the nwt would have helped them? that literally make no sense, we know it wouldn't happen. all you did was cut your military in half.

oh my gd im like [marge hiding her face dot meme] uh. a lot. A Lot. All Of The Time. it depends on if you mean actively or passively, and then what 'actively' means in the situation. i have. a LOT of wips i should tally them sometime lmao. no that would be really fun, actually, i should do that now and then do some kind of ask game with it. that would be another fun one to get myself through this time of year with. ANYWAYS. off the top of my head right now in terms of things i have opened and worked on in the last ~month or so, i have 'the same story' (ted lasso mediafic), 'wriggle up on dry land' (ted lasso baby jamie au), 'my dead are mine (and yours as well as mine)' (gideon the ninth resurrection break it worse then fix it fic), 'bifurcation theory' (numb3rs au heavily inspired by the bbc series 'the five'), 'one right move' (flashpoint episode 2x10 time loop fix it), 'something to hold onto' (macgyver torture fic), 'loneliness into loneliness' (ted lasso two aces qpr fic), 'never been in love' (911 aro buck fic). also some assorted gift fics. probably some others. i can't um. focus lmaoooo.

73. how do you visualize scenes? do you see it like a movie in your head, or do the words just flow?

oh i don't visualize basically fuck-all. i try sometimes but it's a little tough. i sometimes reference literal visuals when i'm really strugglin or i'll draw diagrams but mostly i know in like. described terms but not visual terms, y'know, i don't really Picture much and it's very hard for me and shifts constantly when i do.

a sort of idea I've been having recently !!!!

I'd love to make a comic or storyboard (or even just a set of drawings / sketches) out of it but I know I ain't never got the time these days.

I still want to talk about it anyway so ->

This takes place like, in the events of the original story, but, more focused on a what-if, i guess? where Aeron gets caught by the reapers and in an attempt to fix the,, broken timeline (?) he ends up integrating with the temporal network of the universe or something (I don't have any proper terminology yet).

Supposedly it starts with a collection of scenes of Noctis and Aeron's lives and daily routine and them just living together all that. Some initial ideas: Them waking up and getting ready, Aeron taking a fruit from the fruitbowl for breakfast, Noctis making coffee to go. Aeron having this one brand of apple tea canned drink and a habit is that he always leaves one half-drinken on the coffee table and then opening up a new one before the previous was finished (lmao tf man). Noctis often forgetting her keys when leaving the house, and Aeron being the one to remind and toss it to her before leaving. Idk man a lot of mundane stuff.

Maybe also a little about the people around them. Izz being their friend. then them visiting aeron's parents and family. maybe also hanging out with cryo and vern. etc etc.

Then blip to their first encounter with the time anomaly creatures and the reapers.

Then fast forward to destruction (???). Noctis sees their friend in the center of the monstrous amalgamation (is like, those things with connections. idk how to explain them. I imagine it like lichen), devastated as they get close to Aeron. They reach out to touch his face, then the lichen thing (? helpppp words) creeping up to their hand. They put their forehead on Aeron's, close their eyes as the thing starts covering them, consuming.

Then Noctis woke up, as if nothing had happened. They continue their normal routine, making coffee, then heading out to work. Noctis enters back into the house because they forgot their keys.

Then it's just a series of scenes of Noctis in their daily life, it's exactly the same as before. They suddenly get a feeling to check what we know as Aeron's room, but when she opens, it's just the storage room. They thought nothing of it, but soon they start having weird distant feelings, like something is missing. It's like the empty feeling that suddenly attacks you for no reason, and you can't explain it either. It's like Noctis has a memory, but it's stuck in the back of their mind. Like when you hear a song in your head, but can't remember the lyrics. Or when you can think of a word, and you know there is the word, but struggle to get it off your tongue.

Noctis starts buying fruits to fill a fruit bowl, despite not really one to eat them as much. They also get the urge to buy a specific brand of can drink. Then a scene where she drinks it, then puts it on the table (unknowingly where Aeron always places it).

It starts getting weird, where she becomes more aware of the word "Aeron", or i guess, there's just one too many coincidences of things spelling out "aeron" (a random generated letters of a receipt has the word, assortment of books with a letter on the sleeve that spells it, keymash with the word in the middle, etc.) that is not obvious for others, but is difficult for her to ignore for some reason.

Eventually Noctis starts asking Izz if "aeron" rung a bell. Izz probably just says something like "Oh, you mean Aaron, the school janitor?" etc etc. Then Noctis looked it up or whatever but still not getting answers. They start going to places, like a construction site, and just, trying to understand tf going on. Then meets Cryo (and maybe Vern) who ask her to leave because mam this is a construction area (?) so then Noctis asks if they know any Aeron and they just say no. (or maybe points to a guy working there named Aaron but Noctis doesn't recognize the dude and it doesn't help anything so she just leaves)

Idk how to write this part, but basically a lot more pieces of what seems to be memories start to surface, and it's making noctis go a little unstable by the moment. She'd become more and more desperate to find out, reading up on the sciene of brain and memory, then ending up reading about dreams and mystical things related to her experience. She started borrowing a lot of books from the library about uhh the mystic and spiritual related things (?).

This starts taking a toll out of their life, where she starts missing work and getting trouble and stuff leading to Noctis resigning. Worried, Izz visited their place, then seeing the messy state of their apartment, full of notes about something kinda occult-y and stuff. Noctis still somewhat tried to hide whatever was going on, and Izz didn't understand anyway. Izz manages to convince Noctis to spend time with her, joining the crochetting club on the weekend, getting lunch together, walking around the park etc. and for the few days Noctis is distracted from the weird memories and seemed to be doing better. One night, Izz brings Noctis along to a nightclub and, well, Noctis shouldn't be at the club🗿 LMAO then she drives Izz back home and starts remembering about the memories and that she was determined to get the meaning of all that.

Noctis starts looking up people nearby, if there was any person nearby named Aeron. Idk borderline stalking social media and i guess finding an post by an old woman that named their artwork 'aeron' or soemthing. she looked through their photos and the a picture of the old woman with an old man felt familiar to Noctis.

She takes a visit to their shop or something, and started asking if they knew an aeron. At first they were like "ah why do you suddenly ask that" and she's like "oh i met them before and wanted to meet again" or something idk man. but that surprises the couple and they invite her to have a talk over some tea.

They start talking about Aeron, their son, the say that Noctis might have the wrong person, because that Aeron had already died when he was younger. The couple started asking if she had any relatives or friends that could help them, but she was already in shock and disbelief and still insisted she knew aeron. So the couple tried calming her down and suggested that they know people that can help her, meaning psychiatric help.

This was the point where Noctis kinda broke. (?) They start getting back to reading up about weird occurences, about "hidden memories", leading to sorta occult-ish things.

I don't know how to explain this part. Basically Noctis follows a book on performing a ritual at the storage room, which involves,, something.

And before they could finish the final step of the ritual, something enters in their peripheral vision.

A feather(??), flying, but more importantly, a dark figure standing in the corner of their eye.

The figure must've not expected it when Noctis jumps(?) on them.

The figure's hood falls off(?), revealing their face.

A face, somewhat all too familiar to Noctis

Aeron.

I am in the middle of a fic drought, not really in a fandom at the moment. But MCU is by far my most prolific.

Yes, and it is a thrill. A couple of my short fics have been translated into Russian.

Yup, me and @enigma731 wrote some Clintasha together, "With an Ocean in the Way" and "Let the Morning Come". Also some with a few RP buds back in the Star Trek days.

All time? Chekov/Sulu is and always will be evergreen.

My Jamie/Roy fic got to 4400 words before I ran out of fuel.

Dialogue, matching the source in tone and voice.

Setting the scene. I'd be happy to write scripts without having to explain places.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've done it before when it mattered for the character. Natasha and Chekov were both native Russian speakers, so it made sense for them sometimes. It really depends on the character and the story.

Star Trek, I think. I used to write Lower Decks fic in my journals when I was a kid, trying to synthesize that and the Analog magazines my dad would give me.

UGH anon i can't believe i didn't answer this very important question before, and esp bc i think maybe you were hoping for a full fic and not just. this random assortment of headcanons, but, obviously i have thots:

one of my fav John & Chas comics canon scene is when they goof on some rando at a bar bc he looks like a character from spinal tap, from which i infer: they probably watched it together, or else must've discussed it (w nostalgia given their own ~touring days) enough that john knows chas'll get the reference. HENCE i have inferred that they have at least somewhat similar tastes in pop culture and i assume that holds true across canons.

comics!john is also someone who canonically referenced dr who, star trek, and star wars, ergo, a BIT of a (sci-fi) nerd, which you wouldn't expect looking at him HOWEVER. chas knows 👀 and probably teases him about. not that chas is like. COOL but i see him as having idk more basic tastes. Airport fiction, etc. Stuff he can consume on his (minimal) downtime as a cabbie/dad/chauffeur/bodyguard/personal chef.

BUT anyway, obviously, i think they watch enough movies & TV together (or separately, but have similar enough tastes) that they have the same reference bank so in show canon i assume it’s like, john makes a lot of random snarky asides, chas laughs at it, and zed has no idea what they’re laughing about and after the first few times she asks, decides she really doesn’t want to. 

additionally, show canon is, when john is in town, they go to bars & music shows together (or i guess at least bars where live music is played? but either way john keeps him out ALL NIGHT and renee obviously hates it).

I think John maybe sometimes forgets that Chas isn't 100% aligned w him on stuff? I just recall TV john having that rambly convo w the bartender at the end of the [aired] pilot where hes talking about the sex pistols vs the ramones & then chas shows up [looking like an absolute DILF in his three layers of clothing in ATLANTA of all places] and im not sure if this actually happened but i can just picture john like, trying to rope chas into that discussion & chas being like, 🙄. 

Another john/chas friendship is just based on its longevity. chas has obvs known him a long time & remembers john in his "cutting up his t shirts & safety pining them back together " baby punk disaster stage, and/or his "frontman in a truly terrible band" thing, so even when john is being all broody (esp when john is being all broody) and/or the worst, chas can't completely divorce that from skinny, messy, but in some ways probably happier or at least less traumatized teenaged/early 20s y/o john.

Relatedly, comics!chas has nothing but disdain for Mucous Membrane, despite being their roadie. (i’m assuming he took the job bc he thought it would get him girls tbh.) And he's not afraid to mention it to john, even when john HAS not asked. Just full on roasts him about it, and john takes it so personally! A DELIGHT. any area where chas has a SLIGHT upper hand on john & relentlessly exploits it really just balances them and thus i’m always a fan.

theres a bit in show canon (I'm p sure it was in the New Orleans ep?) where john, chas, & zed are in the car & have to go talk to the police about something, and john starts throwing out different backstories they can use w the implication that they're the ones he & chas have used in the past, and chas is just like nodding along, and idk it's a small moment but it speaks to the fact that post-fire & pre-zed, john & chas DID engage in at least some spooky shit shenanigans, just the two of them. or maybe their ~bits go back to the MM days, or when they were even younger & john was out there just conning people out of things? Either way, EXCELLENT friendship history vibes.

(I actually just had kind of a sad thought which is, the fun hanging out & drinking in dive bars while listening to local bands stuff was a pre-fire/arthurian spell thing, bc after that chas may have mostly been hanging out w john bc they were doing ~spooky shit stuff)

also i’ve said it before but show!john & chas GO GROCERY SHOPPING TOGETHER IN THE PILOT and we DON’T get to see it and it’s NEVER referenced again and this is BIPHOBIA even more so than the fact the camera drifts when john kisses him in the bar

one of those assassination attempts took place during a council meeting and merlin just whips out his kazoo and starts playing

he gets charged with high treason again for that

he is TERRIBLE with plants and kills every single of one of them

he once woke arthur up by climbing through the window on the 9th floor of the castle or whatever and rattling the window pane until arthur woke up and nearly tried to kill him because he thought he was an intruder

he has tried to consume rocks but elyan stopped him

- I suppose it was Nia's turn to fuck up badly but she's so innocent about it I can't even be mad

- that PSA was hilarious but what's even funnier is the show trying to convince me that it's viewership is so high because of the message and not because of how awkward SG looked in it. Gen Z's are making TikToks out of that shit.

What can I say? The only positive here is that it continues from the previous episode and we got to see a little more Orlando. But everything else? The no Lena, the very little Andrea, the unsatisfactory Nia and her mom, that God awful PSA and even worse livechat, kara once again looking hella ignorant (you'd think after S4 she'd be so much more aware and skeptical)

Re: your recent post about the finale being a giant excuse for a cast party, I've been saying this to people for months. The more I hear about it, the more it sounds like it was an episode designed to say goodbye to the actual TV show SPN, rather than an episode designed around what makes narrative sense for the characters or in-universe plot/themes. The characters have no association with Kansas, only the crew and audience do. The Heaven scene apparently was an open invitation to all (1/2)

(2/3 now) previous crew members, whether it made sense for them to be in Heaven or not (Rachel Miner said she would be there, so I guess demons can be in Heaven now?). IDK if you ever saw Nashville but they pulled the same thing in the finale. Some of the characters were singing on stage and then were joined by all the previous characters who'd died - a huge WTF moment initially - before the audience realised that they'd smashed the 4th wall entirely and it was meant to be the actors themselves.

(3/3) Then the creator and crew got up onstage to say their thank yous before the cameras swung around to reveal the camera operators etc. It was VERY WEIRD, but then again, nobody had the emotional investment in Nashville as they do in SPN so everyone just shrugged and went with it. Given that we had the bridge scene in 15x20 though, I do now think that they were trying something similar, except they thought it through horribly. Anyway, it makes it MUCH easier to dismiss 15x20 entirely.

Hello there! And yeah, ever since (I think it was) Jensen first said that 15.19 would work like a “season finale” while 15.20 would function as a “series finale” I’ve been prepared to think of 15.20 as its own entity, you know? He was pretty emphatic about the concept, and it had me seriously wondering why for the better part of a year. In conjunction with the story he told (repeatedly) of how difficult it was for him to wrap his head around the finale. And then there was that shot on the bridge with the entire crew, and it was like... why?! I mean, I get they wanted to honor the crew in some way but that just felt ~weird and jarring~ after that whole episode’s weirdness.

And now we’ve had confirmation about some aspects of the original intended ending, with a massive party at the Roadhouse in Heaven, with characters we have to assume were ~not originally~ in heaven. Much as I love Rachel Miner, I seriously doubt Meg would’ve been in Heaven-- unless it was the human she had originally possessed and not The Demon Known As Meg. And Ketch? I guess murdering Eileen that one time wasn’t a big enough strike against him to have earned Heaven redemption after his help in s15? But then if Eileen was also there? AWKWARD.... like... the random assortment of faces would’ve ranged from narratively meaningless to outright insulting, you know?

And it kind of goes with the theory I’d adopted shortly after the finale aired, that that particular finale only made sense in the Mockumentary!verse. Because the rest of the episode required to get us to that Heaven Roadhouse Party Concert Ending just... didn’t make sense with the show *we* have been watching for years. But maybe one universe over where the characters in the Mockumentary were actually real, maybe this ending made sense for their show. The contrivance of Dean with a dog fit pretty well with Mockumentary!Jensen walking around set with a dog, and Sam with a wig was spot on with Mockumentary!Jared and his wig on fire like... in the most hilariously awful way, some of the narrative choices fit those characters.

And honestly, my heart hurts for people who haven’t been able to let go of 15.20 as a part of canon, for folks who have been too hurt by it to engage with something that brought them happiness and validation for years. I’m not suggesting that this is The Full Truth here, but that seeing this episode this way might help let it go if it’s only causing them pain. There’s perfectly valid and legitimate arguments to be made that 15.20 isn’t actually a part of canon, so if seeing it this way or accepting this headcanon helps anyone in any way to let go and be able to engage with the rest of canon and fandom again, then it’s worth making this suggestion.

Again, not saying this is in any way a factual statement of how this episode was conceived and came to be, but hooooboy, it sure would explain a lot if it was...

I just don’t want people taking this theory and presenting it as What Actually Happened in any official capacity, because for all we know this is entirely off base with reality. But heck... apply it liberally for personal salvation if it helps, you know?

Same anon, I am into the BU and actually have a video edit in progress for it right now, so I’ve been hyperanalyzing it for a while now lol. I definitely have seen what you said about the TXT characters being more “equal” in terms of their relationships with each other—I can’t remember where I saw this gif, maybe your blog, but I think I remember them playing together as children, so I’m guessing they’re childhood friends? That doesn’t necessarily mean they were friends from age 7-15/16 (actually, how old are the characters? They’re still in school right, and they looked the same age as each other when they were kids, potentially.) They could’ve been friends at age 7 and then met up again as teens….sorry these are such random questions/observations, I’m just excited to talk about this!

Same anon again, I just wanted to share my initial impressions of the characters and hear whether or not they’re accurate in your opinion (I still haven’t seen Doom Night or Eternity so these are incomplete impressions): Yeonjun—seems to be the “main character,” tragic, feels guilty, pained, the most aware of what’s going on. Beomgyu—a catalyst in some way, naively malicious aka he doesn’t really grasp the consequences of what he views as innocent actions, feels like he’s on the fringe of the group. Kai—seemingly very innocent, going with the flow for the most part. Soobin: stressed, so stressed, pretending everything’s okay but hiding the fact that he remembers or foresees via his dreams, actually kinda reminds me the most of Jin despite his dreams being more like Taehyung’s. Taehyun—I don’t trust him and idk why. He feels like the Judas somehow.

Hi again, nonnie! I’ve been swamped with work and school this week so I’m not the quickest with my replies, thank you for your patience. I actually don’t want to spoil or influence your experience with the latest two Star Seekers short films, so if you still haven’t watched Eternally or The Doom’s Night, I’d recommend checking them out first. Totally your call though, so please feel free to read on below when you’re ready.

Regarding the characters as childhood friends: before I can address this, I need to back up a bit and mention that while BU is (now) definitively structured around recurring time loops… the primary “mechanic” or narrative device of Star Seekers has yet to be confirmed. I don’t typically go hunting for theories because I prefer to explore the story mostly on my own (and I don’t like being disappointed when something cool turns out not to be true!). While I don’t have my own firmly held theory that I’m going to argue or advocate for here, I will say I am under the general impression that something is going on in these characters’ lives, and the best way I can describe this impression is as the existence of multiple universes or worlds in which they have experienced different versions of their lives. Some of those worlds look like ours (on the surface, at least), others less so (the “magic island,” for instance). Again, I am not here to convince anyone of this idea; it is my personally held view for now based on what has been presented in the MVs/films and snippets of text. (And I suppose I can go into my reasoning more at some point, but not here!)

I mention this because in at least one version of their lives depicted so far, the group did know each other as children. In The Doom’s Night, we see them gaining an assortment of magical artifacts or weapons (and some fantastical creature friends!) before facing a dragon. When this scene ends and the shot pulls out, we see that they’re playing a game and an older Soobin looks on from afar. So was this all make-believe? A blurring of fantasy and reality? A memory or a vision? We’re left with many questions, but now we have confirmation that they did know each other as children—at some point in time, in some version of their lives. (To be fair, I think it’s also not far-fetched to interpret that they’re representing children at the very beginning of Nap of the Star, too.) The reason I say “some version of their lives” is because in their “idol lives” (see: Magic Island, Eternally, and parts of The Doom’s Night) it is unclear if they’ve known each other since childhood. Based on the way Soobin reacts to young Huening Kai in the strange (otherworldly?) fairground scene in Eternally, I’m inclined to say they didn’t in this version: he appears to recognize Huening Kai not by his face but by his earlier-established habit of standing on the backs of his shoes. (Perhaps up to viewer interpretation though!) As for their ages, I’ve assumed their characters correspond approximately to their real-life ages. In Magic Island, they appear to be students who are also trainees since they refer to the practice room but are traveling on public transportation unaccompanied. In Eternally and Doom’s Night, they have apparently reached a point in their career where they perform a concert (thus, the stadium). Not sure if any of these observations are helpful to you! But I will finish by mentioning that overall, I sense a theme among their characters/relationships of parting and reuniting, by fate or other means (quite reminiscent of BU, though I am making an effort to assess and appreciate Star Seekers on its own, canonic references aside).

As for your character impressions… again, I don’t really want to influence you in a particular direction! Yeonjun and Soobin have been quite central to the existing content, so we will hopefully get more that fleshes out the younger characters in future installments. I would say my impressions are fairly similar to yours, with the exception of Taehyun. Sorry, I’m not sure what is giving you that feeling! :’) To me personally, Beomgyu is the one presented with the most ambiguous intentions, and admittedly a lot of that comes from Magic Island and the way he is often on the fringe or alone in Eternally. We still have a lot to learn about these characters and their story. Though I came to BU in mid/late 2019, I am under the impression that the storyline and details of the characters were quite ambiguous until the release of the Save Me webtoon and Notes. I am crossing my fingers that in addition to a new Star Seekers MV/film, we’ll get a more significant piece of text-based content to work with soon, too!

everyone and their mother has rec’d this and I’ll be honest I didn’t really think I’d vibe with it (the title put me off, for starters) but I fell in love with lan jingyi and never looked back. it’s is such a lovely look at the lans and jingyi (and sizhui!!) truly get their due. beautiful characterization, big and wonderful feelings, and a take on jingyi (and lan xichen!) that I really truly love. plus some very good background wangxian, but the juniors are truly what shine here.

MY FAVORITE!!!!! wangxian plays a big part in this but it’s all through lan sizhui’s POV. modern au with a take on the rez that I really liked, and in general I just loved the adaptation. truly gets into the grit of being a teenager whose dad is back from the dead and in love with you other dad but neither of them are saying anything about it. most importantly, the juniors as a unit are the absolute best thing I have ever seen or read and if you read one fic off this list it should be this one. the rest of the series is likewise very very good though I am not caught up on it

yes it’s a wangxian family fic but actually it’s a jiang cheng fic and one of my very favorites. truly captures the Mortifying Ordeal Of Being Jiang Cheng, and does some really lovely stuff with the yunmeng bros and their reconciliation. this fic also 100% convinced that jc should be surrounded by a bevy of small children at all times. I just think it’d be really really good for him

this is just a fun time. like it’s very sweet and the atmosphere (especially through the first few chapters) is very very tasty. wwx/lwj/nhs/wn as a quartet is absolutely inspired and I’m very into it; one of the highlights of the fic. I do wish there had been Even More Haunting but even then it’s just. so good. I gotta put it on the list.

if there is one author I can recommend wholesale it is sysrae. I love their take on LWJ and wangxian and AU elements in general. all their mdzs/cql fic is good but this one does some very clever and painful things with the way canon gets adapted that punched me square in the face and I was grateful. plus it’s just 300% Lan Wangji’s Love Language Is Acts Of Service which is my favorite place to live

AU where wwx is mortally wounded on the way to jin ling’s party and lwj goes to the burial mounds to take care of him/the wens. excruciatingly heartbreaking and an incredible masterclass in tension and catharsis. it ends happily!! but god does it ache to get there. I adored it.

this is brutal. I love detention_notes’ fic (and art!!) and the tender melancholy that breathes just beneath everything they write but this one is particularly thorny. it’s a take on lan xichen in seclusion that offers very little in terms of catharsis but speaks novels to how and why xichen might be, well, xichen. it’s waiting for a realization that never comes and the weight never gets any lighter and it is agonizing and phenomenal. truly some of the best writing I’ve read
