I'm curious to know your take on the whole fujoshi pisscourse because I'm semi new to it and no matter how much the internet says I should be appalled that some cis women flick their beans to gay stuff... as a queer guy I simply cannot bring myself to care. I have experienced cis straight women in queer spaces being rude or even sexually inappropriate, especially to performers, but I just don't see the relationship between that and the girls watching gay porn. And I've also seen people argue that it's bad because cis straight women who are artists will write/draw stuff about gay men that's inaccurate... but again I don't see this as nefarious as the twinks on tiktok want me to believe it is, like who cares.

No amount of discourse is gonna keep straight men from watching lesbian porn. So let's leave the girls to whatever gets them off!

We shouldn't be policing what others' eroticize. A person's identity has no bearing on what they might find interesting to look at or fantasize about. What matters in terms of 'protecting' the queer community is having guidelines on behavior.

The problem with cishet women being predatory at the club isn't that they're cishet, it's that they're groping people, getting in people's faces, and being rude. Anyone of any identity can do that. The only way we can prevent bad behavior is by having rules and procedures in place for dealing with it in anyone. Not by restricting which identities are allowed in the door -- that will only ever play out in a transphobic way and a way that's hostile to the questioning and closeted, and I'll have no part in it.

And certainly none of us have any business butting into what sexual thoughts play between a person's ears. There are no thought crimes. There are no emotion crimes. There are no arousal crimes. There are only behaviors that can hurt others, and if someone's actions are respectful and harm no one, their identity and what they get off to is completely their business.

weird tarot story time

so as background: i'm non-spiritual, a believer in philosophical materialism. have been for a decade and a half. but i'm a sucker for the symbology of tarot cards and the art people make for them. so a few years ago i decided to write a little simulator.

now, obviously if you're gonna do tarot you have to shuffle your deck, right? and shuffling a deck in code is easy; take a decent random number generator, use fisher-yates, done. hell, you don't even have to shuffle if you just pick a random card and remove it. but that's not fun. and part of tarot, as i'm told, is your intentions.

so instead what I do is I write an intentionally bad shuffler. you type your query in, and it converts it to a number using a bad hashing algorithm (CRC32) and then converts that into a stream of random numbers using a really bad algorithm (an LFSR), and then implements a shuffler that's intentionally not perfect (some hand-written thing I don't remember). i run it a few times and verify that there aren't any obvious clumps or patterns and go, okay, good enough.

(the other reason is i get to do cool UI design stuff like this)

so I decide to test it. I type in the query "Is this real?" or something like that, let it shuffle (it intentionally takes multiple seconds to shuffle), and draw the top card. and i get this:

now, if you're passingly familiar with Tarot, you might not recognize History. if you're more familiar with it, you'd probably go "wait, 10 is Fortune, what the hell". that's because I decided to use the Tarot of the Silicon Dawn by Egypt Urnash, which adds a bunch of fun extras (including some that, in the sadly-out-of-print physical deck, are gloss-on-black. very fun.) the image here is from the high-res images the artist posted on her site; she let me use them with permission, and I wrote the ascii-ifier myself because I figured it fit the aesthetic. i also did the same thing for the Neon Moon deck, which is more conventional in design (aside from renaming the suits) but has a very nice striking cyberpunk-y color scheme.

so anyway. i'm not an expert in interpretation, and Silicon Dawn comes with a booklet that i'd integrated into my program. so i look over at it and see the first paragraph, emphasis mine:

She bends the world around herself, and binds it about her with a story. Or is she the world, bending into itself, and trying to explain itself with narration? Just the whole cosmos finding a way of talking to itself. At the very least this card may be a reminder that the whole deck can just be an elaborate way of talking to yourself – what story do you bring to these cards, what begs itself to be connected in ways you wouldn't let yourself connect normally?

and I think: "well, I asked it if the occult is real, and History upright is 'this can just be an elaborate way of talking to yourself', so if it's reversed..."

and, like, I know this is just a coincidence. i i know that in a 99 card deck, the odds of getting a specific card reversed are about .5%, so it's not impossible. it didn't change my mind about anything. but it's still the only time i've had a, i guess, genuinely low-probability occurrence with occult stuff.

Maria Louisa Catherine Cecilia Hadfield Cosway was the first child of two hotel owners in Florence, Italy. As a young girl in a convent, she showed proficient artistic talent in both drawing and music. She was educated by Johann Zoffany and introduced her to other European artists.

She began painting by copying other works when she began to get recognition, allowing her to travel Italy. After her father's passing, she moved to London in 1779 and became well connected. One such connection was with Angelica Kauffman Church (not the same as Angelica Schuyler Church, though she was friends with her two) who was also a female painter.

Maria was introduced to Richard Cosway in London, and they were married in January 1781 for primarily financial reasons. The couple were within the most fashionable circles of the time. In 1786, the Cosways went to Paris where they met Thomas Jefferson. Maria and Jefferson became friends who flirted an excessive amount, and I found a really interesting article on that here.

Unfortunately, her husband was a grade-A asshole who wouldn't sell her works and stunted her artistic growth. I'm an artist, and I can tell you, a few months off can really do a lot of damage to your muscle memory and suddenly everything you put on paper looks like absolute shit, so I feel for her.

Maria had her only daughter, Louisa Paolina Angelica, in May 1790 but her health suffered afterwards. She went to Italy to recoup and returned to London in 1794. In 1796, her daughter tragically died.

Maria coped by turning to religion, Catholicism to be specifically (been there too, she just like me fr). However, on the plus side, she got her prints published by Rudolph Ackermann and made etchings of paintings at the Louvre which had been stolen during the Napoleonic Wars. She actually knew the Bonapartes personally and their patronage allowed her to open a girls' school at Lyons in 1803, which is so badass. She would later open another school for girls in Lodi in 1812.

Her husband died in 1821, and she sold his work at auction. She used some of the profit from these sales to fund her school in Lodi which is so fucking metal. She was actually made a baroness by the Austrian Emperor and Empress after they visited her school. That's also fucking metal.

She lived the rest of her life in Lodi where she died in 1838 near her school. In conclusion, Maria Cosway was more badass than I realized, and I think she's absolutely lovely. RAHHH WOMEN!!!

I hope this has helped. Again, sorry I haven't been able to go as in-depth, but I don't know Maria like that. I'm gonna give you extra sources just because I love you so much. I hope you can find a jumping off point!! European painters are always interesting, especially if they're badass, metal women who kick names and take ass, so I encourage you to do more research!!!

i’m lucky that it’s been a while since i’ve seen a really bad take from a godot apologist but i was just thinking about it and about something i’ve thought many times before but never bothered writing out properly and like, something people who argue that he couldn’t possibly be sexist and obviously it’s just a mistranslation (it isn’t) tend to miss is that his (sexist) perceptions of gender roles are baked into his character on both a narrative and a generic level. you look at any concept art or dev discussion around his design and you’ll notice they refer to him pretty regularly as “hard-boiled” and mention that they were drawing design inspiration from blade runner and a few classical detective type things. and it’s because he is, fundamentally, a noir character. a satirical one in a lot of ways, sure, but so much of who he is draws on the conventions of noir and its character archetypes. and noir is an inherently gendered - well, a lot of people would argue it’s more of a mode than a genre but i’m gonna say genre for the sake of clarity - an inherently gendered genre. its conventions hinge as much on its character archetypes as they do on its tone, and those archetypes hinge on gender roles; the aforementioned hard-boiled detective, the femme fatale, etc etc. even if we focus purely on godot himself, he still absolutely fits that hard-boiled bill. this is where his perception of chivalry and his hero  complex come from, from his distinctly noir-esque approach to masculinity. but then if you wanna dig into how he actually treats women, it cannot go without saying that in his mind, mia was his Fridged Wife. when you look at the actual narrative of the games, her death, while it may have been a big moment for phoenix and also the macguffin for maya’s position in the plot, was still definitively about her, it was something that came about because of things she chose to do for deeply personal reasons and there was nobody who could have saved her in that moment. but in godot’s mind, which not only was asleep during her death but also operates on noir conventions, she fulfills the position that the Fridged Wife would normally get. to him, she is more representative of his ideal woman than an actual person, and he is convinced he could have saved her not just because he can’t process his own traumas and wants to feel like there’s something he could have controlled, but also because of the pedestal that he puts her on mentally (when mind you, in actuality they went on maybe one date, if that) and the way that leads to him using her memory to fuel his proverbial man pain. but like. truly one of the biggest reasons it’s so frustrating when people insist he isn’t sexist or whatever else is because the fact that he IS sexist is such a huge part of what makes his character so interesting, like, his approach to gender roles is so entwined with both his overall narrative arc and the genre that his character derives from and that’s FAR more interesting than just pretending he’s a feminist and that the whole “kitten” thing wouldn’t make you report him to hr before you’ve even left the courthouse.

Loup-garou and Lycanthropes and Hexenwolves, Oh My!

Ok, so I figured that a noir detective inspired, edgelordy series needed a more aesthetic shelf choice, so as we go forward with the Dresden Files, the photos are gonna be on the black bookshelf.

So, for anyone who is just finding this post, you might want to check out this post for my feelings on Dresden and what my Dresden tragic backstory is, and this post for my overview of Storm Front, because I'm not going to rehash any of that in this post. The TLDR is that I'm working my way through the Dresden Files because until Peace Talks and Battle Ground, I was a megafan and there's a reason for that. These reviews--for want of a better word--are exploring what was good and what were red flags from the get-go. So with the business out of the way, let's talk Fool Moon!

In a classically punny Dresden Files title, this book tells us with its whole chest what this book is going to focus on: Werewolves.

Now, thanks to the excellent work of Red from Overly Sarcastic Productions, I get to link you to this video on werewolves instead of doing a lore overview myself. Many thanks, Red! Butcher manages to really take a ton of different threads of werewolves and gives multiple threads and lore lineages page time. It's actually really cool, because Dresden Files does fantasy lore exceptionally well.

What I also find really fascinating though, is how that fantasy lore is mixed with non-fantasy genres. Let's back up a little and define some parameters and some genre stuff.

The Dresden Files series (particularly the early books) draw from urban fantasy, noir detective fiction, and hard-boiled detective fiction for their genre. And if there was ever a book series that proved that genre is made up and that there are no hard boundaries between genres, this is it. To make it even more interesting, the Dresden Files mix three subgenres. So simply put, urban fnatasy is just putting supernatural elements in a contemporary urban setting. Harry Dresden is a wizard in Chicago. Boom, urban fantasy, done. Noir in general goes back and forth in terms of whether it is a mode (something that defines a mood or tone) or a full-on subgenre, but generally speaking, if we are describing something as noir, we mean that it leans towardds darkness (in both theme and subject matter) and we often mean that is has a mixture of sex and violence. Finally, we have hard-boiled detective fiction, which was traditionally characterized by their antihero protagonists, their corrupt legal systems, and their Prohibition setting. However, the setting and the organized crime antagonists are often negotiable, and the Dresden Files negotiates the hell out of that to have Marcone's organized crime syndicate as well as a few different fantasy factions that function as organized crime if you squint a bit.

To hit all the main points of all three of the subgenres effectively while explaining werewolf lore is really genuinely impressive. That said, the subgenres are what can potentially make Dresden Files hard to read. Noir and hard-boiled detective fiction have misogyny and patriarchy and paternalism and violence against women deeply embedded in them. Kim Delaney is ripped to shreds by a man she is trying to help because Harry gets all paternalistic about his "sometimes apprentice" asking about a type of magic she is absolutely not ready for, and instead of digging into WHY she's asking this, he gatekeeps the information, directly leading to her death. This is steeped in noir and hard-boiled detective fiction generic conventions, and...there's a tendency to sort of write it off as "oh, it's just part of the genre" and just keep reading because the fantasy lore and plot are compelling. And yeah, I fully excused this stuff in early books for exactly that reason.

But here's the thing: Genres can change. You as author can change them, and we do not have to double down on misogny and violence against women and paternalistc patriarchy. We just don't.

I'm probably not talking enough about the plot and characters, which after the lore are the things that keep you reading the early Dresden Files books, because the first three books are aggressively ok as novels, and four shows an improvement and five is a sharp upswing in quality, but the first three books are...fine. They're fine. They're interesting enough in their lore to keep you reading, and the writing is competent if not as polished and clearly voiced as later books would be. Like genuinely, when I do Dresden rereads, I tend to start at either Death Masks or Dead Beat. And these days I tend to stop at Skin Game, because I will die on the hill that Skin Game is the pinnacle of Dresden.

...And I still didn't manage to get to the characters and plot in that paragraph. Look, we're still very much at the point in the series where Harry and Murphy are carrying the series--although Marcone has also always been a strong character--but we do meet Billy Borden and the Alphas in this book, and they will recur throughout the series and develop in some really interesting and compelling ways.

I think that's where we're going to leave it for this book! I have a hard time recommending Dresden Files these days, but if you want to pick them up, I'm not going to say don't. There are worse things to pick up, and these can be fun, if you're willing to turn off your critical thinking for a few hundred pages.

I love your Peepaw Philip AU but I’ve got a few questions that might or might not have already been answered. (Hopefully they haven’t, I don’t like being a parrot!)

How is the Emperor’s Coven operating? Is the Boiling Isles coven system self-efficient enough without Belos manning the helm?

Is Hunter freaking out about his missing uncle and trying to find him or has he been coerced into a better health schedule by some of the coven scouts (ie Steve) and possibly Darius and Eber and Raine?

Speaking of RED (lol, my little nickname for the three rebellion coven heads), are they investigating Belos’s disappearance?

And my last question - how’s Philip’s interaction with King and Amity? Those two I haven’t seen and loved comics/art of his interacting with them yet and I’m curious how that would all go over.

Hello! Firstly I'd like to apologize for taking a while to reply, I've been a bit busy irl lol. Secondly, it's all cool! I'm always happy to answer questions, and these ones haven't been asked yet (im??pretty sure?? I dont have a good memory pfft) so it's all good haha.

A little warning, both for mention of death (just like off handedly, treated as a possible result of the emperor going splat out the window), and also I'm gonna ramble A LOT, so this will probably be... very, very long. And filled with my bad humor since I cannot control myself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It's been only a week, maybe less, since I came up with this au so I dont have many solid ideas in place. Everything is open to interpretation!

I've actually been thinking over how the Emperor's Coven, and by extension the coven heads and the boisling isles itself, would react to Belos' predicament. I've written out a few scenarios, roughly plotted out some scenes that would go down between characters, but nothing's really set in stone. Here's what I have so far, but I honestly encourage people to have their own interpretation of what would go down if they wished :)!

So. Belos' epic fail (real not fake) (coven scouts called) via falling out a window was obviously witnessed by some scouts down the hallway, either that or they heard a loudass noise coupled with the Emperor swearing which was totally Not Good. One of the images I'd planned to draw later but didnt get to was one where there was a coven scout (STEVE!!!), Lilith, and Hunter all staring out of the window.

Now on one hand, the coven could come to the conclusion that the Emperor is dead (because who the hell can survive a fall that high + if the emperor survived he "totally would have come back as soon as he could" = emperor is dead oh crap). Hunter would VEHEMENTLY deny this ("He can't! There's no way that could happen!" Followed by him having a rough time of it poor guy).

Either that or they come to the conclusion that this was a kidnapping attempt or soemthing of the like and Belos is missing, which is just as bad. Hunter is still suspicious about that, because /who the hell could be able to kidnap Belos/? Obviously not a human teenager. Cough.

Either way, Lilith, as the head of the emperor's coven at the time (since its early season 1, right before the convention episode too), has to deal with... a lot of things, including dealing with other coven heads, the emperor's coven, and just trying to get things in order in the chaos that came from the emperor's sudden and tragic "death". Still on the fence about if someone in particular takes over his role or if all the coven heads work together (poorly btw they're gonna fight a lot over it), as well as if the general populace is informed about him "peacefully passing away from old age" or his "sudden disappearance" or whatever.

Anyways shes working herself to the bone. Shes got eyebags for days, plus the added stress of the dude who /PROMISED/ to cure her sister of her curse just up and vanishing to who knows where, so shes. Having a rough time.

Hunter is, as I said, not doing well!! In his mind Belos has always been this sort of... untouchable figure, you know? Nobody could hurt him. Now hes missing, and since Belos is his only "family", Hunter is determined to find him, wherever he is.

So then I had this scene written down where Lilith, still wanting a cure for her sister (plus some other things she needs for the coven itself), and Hunter, wanting a clue about his uncle's whereabouts, both decide to. Uh. Break into Belos' quarters and pilfer his shit.

Does he even have quarters canonically? Its so weird thinking of this dude like... legitly sleeping. Like in a BED. Either that or he sleeps on his throne ahdhshava just imagine that. Hes sitting on his throne all day listening to people with his mask on and hes not responding because hes completely OUT behind that thing ahagdhs.

Okay side tangent over. Basically Hunter is sneaking down the hallway, all sneaky like, and he stops by the door. He reaches out to open it, but before he could it opens to reveal lilith, carrying several books that had probably been banned from the public, and they're both staring at eachother.

"I wont tell if you wont."

"Deal."

A few other notes I had detailed a scenario in which Lilith and Hunter either a) work together to carry out the Emperor's will while he's gone (or presumed deceased) or b) investigating into what occured due to their own interests, which eventually winds up with them uncovering the mountain of wtf that the Emperor had hidden. In my notes I wrote down about them potentially meeting the collector because I thought'd it be funny to draw their reactions to them. Fun!

(Also the collector has been around Belos for a while now, just kinda stuck in place. What the hell is he gonna do when the only contact they've had with another person- albeit not a GOOD one, not by a long shot- suddenly disappears???)

As for RED (THATS WHAT THAT MEANT!!! I SAW IT BEFORE IN A FEW FICS AND I WAS SO CONFUSED AHFHSGWGAH ANYWAYS-) they probably get involved later on with this whole mess. At this point of time Raine isnt a coven head- unfortanutely, but they only become one in season 2, and since its season 1 it's up to Darius and Eber instead. I do contemplate if, in this state of chaos, Raine is promoted earlier on so that theres more stability or something,,, idk. I'm still not sure ^^;

Goodness but. This kid. Hunter needs some people to make sure he doesnt wear himself down to the bone just scouring the isles. Imagine if he arrives in places to investigate like RIGHT after Phil leaves the place, both none the wiser. Gah.

Honestly though, I think if anyone would be able to coerce this kid into sleeping a full night's sleep, it'd be Steve. Hes not involved with all this conspiracy-investigatory-drama stuff like all of the other responsible adults in Hunter's life, and he has big brother energy.

Okay, onto King and Amity: I- uh, I'm still figuring things out with these two. Amity is Lilith's personal apprentice (I'm pretty sure? At this point in time at least), and the au begins before her character development really kicks off, so I dont think its until later when she gets to meet Phil and also experiences deja vu "hey your voice is super familiar?" like Eda and Lilith. Just like RED, I'm not sure what to do with Amity yet, unfortunately. I'm open to suggestions/ideas though! :)

As for King, Phil is like... you know cat trees/perches? Yeah. That's what Phil is to King. Hes like an adequate Grandpa, he has some responsible instincts, but hes kind of reserved to being King's personal perch when he wants to feel tall.

Somewhere in my notes I also wrote down the following:

"King and Phil are mysterious origins buddies

King: maybe you were also a malevolent and terrifying (though not as terrifying as me) ruler like I once was?

Phil: hm... no, I dont feel like I would have been a very good ruler"

It was for something I wanted to draw but,,, yet again, I didn't get around to doing lol.

Hey, been having a pretty rough start to the week, and really, a rough several weeks. Lots going on, lots of dread about the world, honestly just wanna go back to bed. But we're trying to look on the bright side and appreciate the little things. So I'm gonna list some good things that have happened recently and that are coming up so we can psych ourselves up. I find that putting something down on paper or in a place where I can see it makes it easier to embrace and appreciate, makes it more visual.

-Someone left a really sweet comment in the tags of my Gooliope custom. I've noticed a lot of people liking that post, and I love all the kind words in the tags so much. Thank you! She's one of my favorite dolls, and it makes me happy that she sparks joy for more than just me.

-I got to see my middle sister for her spring break. She just left to head back to school, but the time she was here was great. We celebrated my mom's birthday with a lot of great food and laughter, and there were many late night conversations that were fun. It was nice to reconnect.

-I got to play Animal Crossing for the first time and found that I love the fishing in it! It's a really fun game and I want to get back to it soon. I also found the Sanrio Amiibo cards for cheap, and I'm eager to see how they function once I'm a bit farther in.

-I'm slated to go to a convention soon! I can't wait to put my cosplays back on and go to panels. Two really awesome voice actors are going to be there, and I'm gonna try and work up the courage to take photos with other cosplayers. I'm especially excited to see the cosplay performers, I missed that last year but won't be this time!

-Another Splatfest is coming up! I can't wait to play more of Tricolor battles, they're such a good time. Thinking of playing on Team Nessie, but we'll see, depends on what my teammates think. I'm not a competitive player, I just have a group of four that enjoys playing together.

-It's my birthday next week (and also international mermaid day)! I'm not sure how I'm gonna celebrate just yet, but I do want to celebrate. I may ask my mom if we can go out to Goodwill or something during the day, I've wanted to check it out for a long time. I have friends who are streaming that night that I'd like to watch, but I'd also like to make some time for my annual birthday stream that week. Birthdays tend to be a time where you talk to a lot of people who haven't checked in in a while, and while I can get a little overstimulated, I do love having a portion of the night where I get to see a bunch of my friends for some drawing or other art. It's the one time of year where I like being the center of attention, it means getting to decide what I want to do and getting to do it together with the people I love. <3

-My persona doll is closer to done! She has a face, she has hair, she has shoe options that I can paint, she just needs clothes and wings (she's a fairy, and I'm debating how I wanna do them). I have some new clothing patterns that I'm excited to try out for her too. It's so cool to finally have a doll that feels closer to me. I loved drawing a face on G3 Draculaura.

-Dollightful released a new video showing off some of the face sculpts for G3 Monster High dolls, and I'm really excited about that! It got me wanting to customize more of G3, namely Lagoona, I have a great idea for a Shiny Vaporeon doll for her, but we'll have to see if it sticks. It also got me going on collecting resources for customizing G3 dolls, I have a post in my drafts that I wanna share soon that may help other doll customizers out.

-I got to design a character that I absolutely love, and brainstorming about it with my friends has been really fun. It's really pushing me to try more with hair. Been feeling really grateful for my friends in general, both those I talk to daily and the ones I haven't seen in a while. You're all wonderful and I'm so fortunate to have you in my life. <3

-Actually, I'm having a lot of fun all around! I got a great new idea for an AU where Henry is a guardian angel type character to Joey and gets stripped of his powers, so now Susie is watching over him and the studio with a cartoon Alice to show her the ropes, and it's SO FUN! I may have to bring that to my Bendy blog at some point. I'm brimming with ideas and gosh I wish I had more time to do art and audio for it, I'd love to voice some skits with Susie and Alice talking to each other.

-Mario Day passed and I finally got my hands on Bowser's Amiibo (thank you little sister for helping me out). I haven't collected Amiibo in a long time, but the siblings and I used to, and this is one we missed. I look forward to training him in Smash Bros. It'd be fun to pit him against Leg Day (Wii Fit Trainer) and Knave (Sonic).

-Been having a lot of fun at the Streamily Livestreams with the Bendy voice cast, lots of really funny fandom memes have come out of those and it's great. They never fail to make me smile. Been having a lot of fun at the ShazzandBoo Pokemon Livestreams too, what an absolute treat those have been!

Yeah, maybe life isn't so bad. There are a lot of things stressing me out, but there's so much to look forward to and enjoy, and those are the moments I'm gonna live for. Life is too short to let it keep you down, so we're gonna do our best and make it through!

luna  had  only  agreed  to  attend  the  horror  con  because  she  thought  they'd  have  time  to  walk  the  convention  themselves.  they  were  excited  to  be  amongst  other  monster  enthusiasts  and  gawk  at  all  the  exhibits,  purchase  way  too  many  replicas,  and  geek  out  over  the  creative  minds  behind  their  favorite  genre.  instead,  they  were  nothing  more  than  an  attraction  themselves.  their  role  as  tara  carpenter  got  them  a  meet  and  greet  for  all  the  scream  fans  who  wanted  to  to  tell  her  how  much  they  hated  their  role,  loved  her  acting,  or  thought  they  were  gonna  die.  it  wasn't  much  different  from  the  online  discourse  she  always  found  themselves  tagged  in,  so  handling  it  in  person  (  with  security  guards  to  keep  everyone  moving  )  should  have  been  a  piece  cake.  they  even  found  a  monotonous  rhythm  to  it  all:  smile,  sign,  say  thank  you  for  the  gifts  (  if  there  were  gifts  ),  and  wave  goodbye.  but  they  hadn't  accounted  for  drew. she  thought  about  him  attending,  of  course  they  had.  this  was  someone  they  spoke  to  nearly  every  day  as  a  teenager  about  the  gory  details  of  a  latest  thriller  or  swapped  scary  stories  with  during  the  witching  hour.  if  he  had  the  opportunity  to  come  he  wouldn't  miss  it,  so  it  shouldn't  have  surprised  her  when  he  did  show  up  to  their  table.  but  it  did.  the  smile  she  gave  him  was  less  of  a  hard  outline  and  more  like  paint  splashed  on  canvas,  vibrant  and  making  itself  known  without  introduction.  how  odd  was  it  that  he'd  managed  to  find  her,  but  of  course,  he  hadn't.  not  that  version  of  them  they  wanted  him  to  find.  drew  didn't  come  looking  for  the  user  ghoulsandconchas,  he  came  to  find  the  actor  behind  tara  carpenter.  all  they  needed  to  do  was  smile,  sign,  say  thank  you  for  coming,  compliment  his  drawing,  ask  about  his  inspiration...━━━  they'd  gone  off  script.  it  wasn't  long  before  to  two  were  swapping  stories  and  opinions,  their  favorite  releases,  what  they  couldn't  wait  to  see.  the  autography  had  been  half  abandoned  and  the  picture  an  after  thought.  only  pulling  it  together  when  security  reminded  them  that  there  was  a  line  getting  longer  by  the  minute  behind  him. saying  goodbye  to  him  was  harder  than  they  thought  it  would  be.  she  hoped  he'd  somehow  know  something  was  off  and  make  his  way  back  to  her  booth.  they  swore  on  any  higher  power  that  would  listen  that  he  he  did,  she'd  tell  him  the  truth.  but  the  night  came  to  a  close,  and  he  never  showed  up.  she  had  her  phone  open  to  their  messages  as  they  headed  out  to  go  home,  contemplating  on  how  to  message  him  something  casual  about  the  con  to  see  what  he'd  say.  they'd  glanced  up  for  only  a  second,  and  there  he  was.  ❝  drew  !  ❞  his  name  dashed  off  the  tongue,  impulsive  and  without  considering  the  excuses  they'd  now  have  to  deliver  for  calling  out  to  him.  ❝  that's  your  name  right  ?  ❞  she  stammered  as  they  tripped  over  their  own  fit  a  little  while  coming  to  stand  beside  him.  ❝  you  came  to  the  signing  earlier,  had  that  really  sick  drawing  ?  i  just  wanted  to  ask  if  i  could  take  a  picture  of  it  to...━━  ❞  to  cherish.  to  look  back  and  remember  how  nice  it  felt  to  talk  to  you  outside  of  a  screen.  ❝  ━━  to  show  off.  i  have  this  friend,  also  an  artist  ━━  ❞  also  ?  is  that  something  that  tara  luna  would  know  or  only  ghoulsandconchas  luna  ?  ❝  ━━  if  you  are  an  artist,  i  don't  know  i  just  assumed  because  you're  so  good.  um...━━  what  was  i  saying  ?  ❞

Hi!! Thank you sm for the ask!! I'm gonna switch the numbers up a bit because I've answered a few you've listed but still wanna answer more.

1.) What episode got you invested in the show? Why?

I already answered this one here so I'll exchange this with 3.

3.) Favorite episode? Why? Ramble as much as you'd like.

My favorite episode most definitely for nostaligic and sentimental reasons would be Enchanting Grom Fright, and I KNOW like there are a TON of other episodes but I cannot deny the fact that EGF really does hold a special place in my heart for being (as I answered in question 1.) the reason I even got into TOH in the first place back in 2020. The entire course of this hyperfixation is BECAUSE of that episode. I love it sm because it literally was the spark of the fandom's outrage over shipping Lumity. Everyone was racing to draw and commit every art medium to fandom space. Ao3 was such a different place back then too for TOH fanfic. I think after EGF came out a lot of things really came to be TOH. Of course then we had WIng It Like Witches (which that's an entire discussion in itself!!) that made us all freak out even more about Lumity. I don't know haha. EGF really holds a special place in my heart that I love more than s2. WHICH- Don't even get me wrong. I absolutely love LOVE LOVE s2. We got the Lumity kiss and all that fun cannon stuff- It's just that nothing to me compares to the absolute sheer ferality I had over them because of that episode. TOH really had a chokehold on me because of that.

7.) Has the show ever made you cry? What scene(s)?

6.) A character you didn't expect to love? What made you start liking them?

Honestly, I'm gonna give a hot take here but Willow. In the beginning back during s1 I didn't feel like she was all that cool. (I didn't HATE her- I just didn't see the appeal of her) Of course Understanding Willow definitely had an impact but it wasn't until s2 when we really got to see into her more that I started to really think she wasn't half bad. Like s1 was mostly not as plot driven so it kinda felt that she was mid. Was indifferent but I'm so glad the show changed my mind about her because she truly was one of the best characters.

9.) If the show had a full three seasons, whats something you genuinely think would happen? Not a wishful thinking, what do you think is something that would've happened?

Well Beach Episode got hinted at so obviously I would be down for that, but I think most importantly seeing more interactions between the hexsquad. I would've wanted to see a picnic lumity cemetery date obviously, and maybe even the hexsquad going to a convention together. I just would want more shenanigans with them all.

Also more Raeda?? Like I would be down for that. And Steve!! And Lilith!! Lilith and Hooty moments.

I think we would've gotten more clarification on the whole curse and the inner lore of it, because I know KNOW theres more to it there. More lore with Hooty and what even that worm was too. I just know there would've been more lore if we had more time.

GODDD there’s so much I could say here but they’re all spoilers for stuff I’m working on….so, I’ll just say it was the moment she realised her Dad wasn’t coming home :)

Her earrings! Her regular ones are pretty plain (either black or gold depending on how I decide to draw her lol), but she always wears them. She’s a little paranoid the holes will close up if she takes them out, so she constantly has keepers in.

But other than that she just likes wearing them bc she enjoys accessorising and looking pretty, she doesn’t get a lot of opportunities to dress up or anything tends to wear clothing that’s more practical than it is pretty, so her earrings make her feel pretty even when she’s in work clothes

I think people have very much picked up on the fact that she looks a lot like Johanna - and she’s inherited a lot of her features! She’s got her big nose and tall build. Of course her similarity with Hilda is in their shared hair colour, it’s hard to say what other similarities they’d have since Hilda is still but a baby

I’m also gonna use this as an opportunity to discuss their differences! Bc their similarities are so clear I think the differences may be less obvious, plus some of them are recent changes as I’m midway through revamping her reference sheet but here’s a few -!

Lauren may have inherited her big nose from Johanna, but hers is actually a fair bit bigger

She’s a bit more…top heavy than Johanna is. She’s got a larger chest and smaller hips

It’s not hugely noticeable, but she’s a little shorter than Johanna too. I like the idea of Hilda growing to be just a little bit taller than her as well

Buutttt she’s much bulkier and more muscly! She’s a strong girl, she’s got big shoulders and arms and a thicker neck.

This doesn’t apply to canon designs, but I usually headcanon Johanna and Hilda as both having blue eyes, I like the idea of Johanna’s blue matching Hilda’s! But though I’ve gone back and forth a LOT, I think Lauren would have yellow or brown eyes (we’re just pretending yellow is a normal colour for eyes to be ok)

I think she’d probably have a few scars too, though I probably wouldn’t include them in her canon design as it seems like too much for Hilda’s design conventions. But yk, she’s an outdoorsy person who does a lot of physical activity, I can very much see it happening

I think her hair is just ever so slightly curlier than Johanna’s, not by much, but a little

That’s all I can think of in terms of physical features, but that brings us along to traits! Lots of fun shared ones here -

Like with her big nose, Lauren got Johanna’s social anxiety passed down to her, only amped up to a million. Poor woman can barely get through a conversation with the mailman when she first moved back to Trolberg, but she gets better with time

She shares Hilda’s love of the wilderness and the outdoors to an extent, she’ll always chose her family over adventure (though it was a close call that one time…), but she really is in her element roughing it out in the wilderness

When making or headcanoning for Pearson family meme gets I like to give them a creative trait, like one part of art they specialise in - Johanna is a Graphic Designer of course, Hilda enjoys sketching as a child but my personal headcanon is that when she grows up she’ll be a wildlife photographer, so that’s the one I’ve got her as. Lauren however is a painter! It’s just a hobby, and not one she indulges in much, but she finds it relaxing to just paint landscapes and still lives.

I don’t think this counts as a trait, but I’ll include it anyway - she was a sparrow scout and she LOVED it. She didn’t earn quite as many badges as Johanna, but she came close! I may have smthn planned out involving her becoming a Raven Leader someday too

Again don’t know if this counts as a trait but she likes board games, same as Johanna and Hilda. She’s not very good at most of them though, she usually ends up spending all of monopoly in jail

Ah yes, the 2012 Olympics. Another fun fact: I went to a convention in the summer of 2012 and Hank Green, dressed as the Doctor, ran in during the opening ceremony with a (probably fake, right? like we were in a hotel in Chicago) torch as one of the big moments. (Unless he did that at the 2011 one, but the 2012 one makes so much more sense). That was very fun.

OMG I forgot that she starts drawing the stadium and temporarily empties it. Amazing...

Genuinely love how seriously this guy takes his job. He truly loves laying tarmac and is proud of the work he does, and good for him.

SHE'S GONNA DRAW THE WORLD. OMG.

Also, I'm so sad that this guy's hard work went to waste and the moment they're filming the torch on this street is when that pothole is wide open. Poor thing.

Ducktales s/i redesign! Woo!!

Meet Ellie Cooper, an aspiring comic artist and a childhood friend of Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera. She loves superheros, the spooky stuff, and Launchpad Mcquack

Rambles below the cut as per usual! It's also long, as per usual-

Look I thought about her a lot and never shared it okay 😭

She's introduced when Fenton, Launchpad, Huey, Dewy, and Louie attend a convention (think like comic con). Launchpad heard about a Darkwing Duck booth, Fenton's just a nerd, and the boys are more interested in the comics. Dewey wants to see all the action and comedy ones, Huey wants to see the mysterious and serious ones, and Louie doesn't want to be there. While Huey and Dewey are arguing about which genre is better, Louie gets bired and leaves the group. Then while Launchpad and Fenton are distracted, the duo run off to find their triplet.

While Louie was walking about, he found Ellie's comic booth, kind of barren compared to the other stands and booths. She was sitting there, asleep on the table portion. He gives her stand a small knock, which startles her awake, but she quickly recovers and greets him. Realizing he's a kid all alone, she immediately starts to distract him with her drawings and stories, waiting for a parent or someone to come by. Instead, Huey and Dewey do, also alone and without adults. She offers to draw them as superheros as another distraction.

Finally, after the two adults realize the kids are missing, search around and find them. When Ellie and Fenton see each other, they immediately recognized each other and gave each other a tight hug, Ellie lightly punching his arm. Turns out, they were childhood friends! Both were sort of social outcasts, so they bonded over that. Unfortunately she had to move and they hadn't seen each other since. She's now in duckberg since her old city has crime rates going back up and she wanted to be safe. (There's a whole thing of her yearning to meet a hero like Gizmo duck and Fenton debating on whether or not he should tell her, but that's moreso an episode script and isn't important lol)

She also makes an appearance in Darkwing Duck! (Assuming that show is still coming out and Launchpad is still a part of it.) Turns out, that was her old city, and she was there to visit family (it didn't go well to say the least.) She ends up joining them for some shenanigans sometimes, though there's only one important one for now.

Essentially, Launchpad is driving his limo, Gosalyn in the back with D.D. has he's sorta hurt and Ellie up front. They're being chased by a villain, the who isn't important. When Gosalyn says something, Launchpad climbs in the back to help best he can, making Ellie take a wheel. They're upcoming on a draw bridge, and it looks like it's slowly rising up. Even if they did the jump, they'd 100% percent crash on the other side. With no other choice however, that's just was Ellie does. She warns them all to brace themselves, they're gonna crash. They ride up the now ramp, and do the large jump. The front of the car hits the bridge as it's rising up, causing it to flip over and over as the car essentially rolled to the other side.

In the wreckage, everyone's mostly just bruised, which is lucky for Darkwing. As Ellie brushes bits off her dress and takes off her jacket to brush more junk off, Launchpad has a moment. Pink background, glitter, dreamy music, it's love vision. He, more suddenly nervous around her, comes up and compliments her on the crash, saying it done "like a professional." She giggles and thanks him, to which he nervously asks if she'd want to get coffee once they're back in Duckberg, and she accepts.

Small Victories

Hello this is my first time trying to write stuff like this. This is going to be a series, I have no clue how long it will be. The paring is Han Jisung x F!Reader. The reader isn't into K-Pop but when your best friend gets your friend group a position in a contest to win a chance to preform with stray kids. You may not want to do it but you will do anything for Gwen. What can happen its not like you'll win.

No warning in this part possibly in the future

Waking up to the sounds of my phone going off I groaned and snached the annoying device off of my bedside table. Fumbling with the device I managed to turn it around the screen lighting up in my face. Squinting my eyes I looked at the time it was about 1pm i shook my head at how late it was. My sleeping schedule is basically broken and the fact my room is protected from all sunlight doesn't help. My phone went off again bring my attention back to what originally woke me up. I quickly recognized the group chat letting out a sigh and I opened the messages ready to be stressed out. 

Rolling my eyes I locked my phone screen tossing the device to the side. I don't understand why they need me. I'm sure we have another friend that would take my place. When Mindy said I was the best dancer she wasn't lying. The only things i'm good at in life are dancing. Music, and drawing. So I understand the want for me to participate but still this competition's prize is performing with a famous K-Pop group called Stray Kids. Most people would die to get this opportunity, not me however. I never have been super into K-Pop. I think the dances are fun and all. I've just never really listened to it much, it's definitely something my friends judge me for. 

I guess I have no choice but to commit. They did go to a comic book convention for me and none of them are into my nerdy hobbies. Except Gwen she's my best friend and biggest supporter, she's the only one of my friends that know i'm writing a comic book. She's the biggest stray kids fan i've ever met so the only reason i'll do this is for her. I highly doubt we will win but ill give it my all. After overthinking this contest I got up and got ready for what was left of the day. As i finished eating my phone started ringing.

Picking it up I saw Gwen calling me. I answered the phone and paced it to my ear. “City morgue, can I help you?” I said smoothly, earning a laugh out of my friend. 

“Very fun! So have you thought about who in the group you wanna perform as?” she asked me this and I was dumbfounded. No, of course not. I didn't know we needed to perform as one of them.

“What are you talking about?” I questioned her i dont think ive ever been more confused about a competition.

“Dummy! Did you not read the email I sent you?” she asked me this like i just sit with my email open waiting for her to send me things. 

“No i in fact didn't but since you're here why don't you enlighten me.'' I said with a little attitude. 

She huffed at me and explained that it's not just a dance competition we have to cover songs and dances from stray kids on stage. Our judges are the group themself and a few representatives from JYP. Oh so I signed up for way too much. I thought we'd just have to dance but now we have to perform in costumes and everything. 

“Oh so the con was that bad that i'm being forced to sing and dance?” I asked half way joking.

“Y/n we got hit on by so many creepy men!” This shut me up because she was right that did happen the whole time. “I don't care if we win but I know you can sing and dance. I also know you love me enough to do this for me.” Gwen was right again and I'd do anything for her.

“Fine, i don't know you pick who i cover. I'll look into copying their stage presence." I hated having to copy somebody but sadly for these contests they want that. 

After talking for a while we decided I was gonna main Hans parts including high notes, rapping, and his choreo. I was going to switch to Felix and Hyunjin for a few parts of their choreo. Gwen and the other girls concluded their dancing was too hard to memic. We had to pick five songs to perform. My only request was Charmer, I liked it when my friends would play that song plus I've seen the dance a lot. They picked the other four songs God’s Menu, Maniac, Back Door, and Hellivator. I explicitly got told Hellevator was going to win it for us, something about how good our high notes are gonna be. 

I stayed up late working on my comic. Also if I went to sleep that meant I had to wake up. Waking up tomorrow meant that I would have to start studying Stray Kids, which I wasn't looking forward to. We have a month to be ready and I have no doubt there is no way we could win.

i have a problem in regards 2 asmr. its like. i tap on things. all the time. anyway yea asmr wasnt a thing in then so probably just sits her in front of bob ross or makes her go on a 10000 mile run before dawn so shes tired out enough to just zzz as soon as her head hits the pillow. either that or yea def cocoon blanket method. she doesnt have to sleep just has to be immobilised. scarlet also does that as mentioned. they r cocoons. together. avery uncomfortable bc she needs to stretch her legs. but trapped.

probably absorbed agnes immediately and forgot about her job for like a day of blissfully washing fleas off a kitten. avery likes animals & wouldnt be able to leave her in the bin, and far too attatched to rehome. she keeps agnes to herself usually though and doesnt talk about her- (scarlet told avery to bring agnes over with her so she wouldnt be home alone (she wanted to pet the cat) (avery agreed bc she feels bad about abandoning her while she was dead for a week) (agnes is still in scarlets house)

discolouration from lack of blood!! vampires have fairly bad circulation as is. so extremities get a little corpsey after a while without any juice- it goes away with prolonged blood drinking though.

i think they would consider it but i also think agnes is a hater and wouldnt be happy about another cat- i think a little betta tank would b an option for sure- but scarlet would probably like to have a lot of pets in general :^)

i wouldnt say so, itd heal up pretty immediately before you could even finish tatooing. which sucks- tattoos from before vampirism are now locked the way they were when turned, so even if the leg gets sawed off the leg'll grow back with the tattoo on it.
