#also this is your daily reminder that mind control (although not fully successful) is on EX's list of canon abilities
Note
I'm about to make you consider a cursed food tag. X once at a chocolate sauce pizza topped with pickles, jalapenos, mandarin oranges, candy corn, alligator meat, and lettuce; the only cheese on this pizza was craft singles layered badly. Also, he did this in front of the other Hermits cause EX wanted to see how much psychic damage they'd take from watching their admin eat this Geneva Convention Violation.
The other Hermits have unanimously decided that Xisuma was under EX's mind control during this incident. They have never discussed this theory with Xisuma himself... because they know it's not true. They know, but their brains just aren't equipped to accept it....

Centre Stage - chapter 4
A slightly different one this time - set during the events of the Long Reach, Cat’s left alone to wait.
As always with these, massive thanks are due to @willow-salix for her betaing skills, general cheerleading and without whom it’s entirely possible I would have deleted the entire thing and given up.
The whole thing is also available on AO3 here.
******************************
Cat rolled over with a groan, awake again for what felt like the twentieth time that night. She hadn’t slept properly since Scott had left to get the results of the final test of the newly named Zero XL, and three nights of broken sleep combined with a full rehearsal schedule meant that she was now at a point far beyond exhaustion.
In times of stress, her bedroom had always been her sanctuary, its dusty blue walls and cream furniture reminding her of the wide expanse of the sky and the sense of freedom it gave her when she was feeling overwhelmed by daily life. Now, it just made her think of Scott, and today, that was bringing her no comfort.
Despite the lack of daylight creeping around the curtains, a quick glance at the small clock beside her bed told her that the night had passed and it was in fact now just about what could be considered morning, albeit much, much earlier than she would usually consider being awake.
With reflexes honed by too many nights spent waiting for news from the other side of the world, her first instinct was to reach out and grab for her phone, squinting as the harsh light of the screen hit her eyes. The sight of a message from Scott made her heart lurch, fear that it would contain the words that she had been both waiting for and dreading in equal measure spreading through her veins like ice.
All go for launch. I’ll call when I’m back. xx
Dropping her phone beside her, Cat let out a groan and buried her face in the pillow while the wave of nausea that Scott’s words had triggered passed, the sensation triggering memories of the last time she had to say goodbye to him under similar circumstances.
That time, he was being sent off into a literal warzone and she had hoped afterwards that she would never again have to go through the worry of having someone she cared about in such a dangerous situation, but clearly the universe had other ideas. Now, not only was Scott going on the most ambitious and dangerous rescue mission that anyone had ever attempted, she couldn’t even talk to anyone about it as secrecy was absolutely paramount.
OK, that wasn’t strictly true, Cat reminded herself. Penny was on the island and had promised to keep her up to date with everything that was happening as soon as she heard it and that fact alone was an absolute godsend, but it was also her distance from the mission that was making her anxious. Even as a child she had never been content to depend on other people for things, preferring instead to go out and make them happen for herself, and so being reliant on others was not something that came easily to her. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust her best friend to keep her informed, far from it, but Penny was similarly emotionally invested in one of the other participants involved in the rescue and, if anything untoward happened, Cat feared that she would be too distraught to pass the message on.
It was this terror of not knowing that had kept her awake for the last three nights. Logically, she knew that she should be more scared of the physical and emotional risk that Scott was facing and the possible longer-term consequences of them both, but the reality was that she could barely fathom it all so, in order to maintain at least some level of sanity, she had chosen to stay focused on the few factors that she could have some modicum of control over.
So long as he came home, she had no doubts that they would be able to face whatever else had happened together. The alternative was something she was trying very hard to ignore.
Taking deep, calming breaths that stilled her racing mind for the time being, Cat lifted her head and glanced over to Scott’s side of the bed, suppressing a small smile at the fact that she already considered it his even though he’d only actually slept there overnight once. The rose he’d given her on his surprise visit to see her dance Swan Lake was dried and framed on the wall, and memories of that night made her smile widen before regret started to creep in, sending her mind spiralling back to that awful period afterwards where she wasn’t sure if she’d ruined everything between them for good.
Now that he was leaving on a rescue fraught with such danger, her heart ached at the knowledge that they could have had so much more time together if she had allowed herself to follow it that night and kissed him in the kitchen when she had the chance. At the very least, she’d have settled for having had enough time to go on what Scott would describe as a “proper” first date, but their busy lives had meant that even that hadn’t yet been possible. Instead, until he had arrived and poured his heart out to her three days previously, they had only had a single snatched night together in the two months since she had left the island.
It wasn’t enough.
No amount of time ever would be.
Cat rolled over with a groan and picked up her book, trying to distract herself from the almost unbearable ache for him that, regardless of the circumstances, was becoming an increasingly common feature of her life but, almost immediately, her earlier regret began to mingle with apprehension for what Scott was about to face. He’d been upbeat when they had spoken the previous night, the doubts and fears that he’d let her see only days before safely locked away again now that the hour was near, but this hadn’t been enough to convince her that they weren’t still there, bubbling away under the surface. Having agreed not to talk again until he was back, she felt cut off and alone, the enforced lack of contact between them now almost unbearable.
Realising that she had read the same sentence at least five times without being any clearer as to what it said, she gave up and abandoned her book once more on her bedside table. She hauled herself out of bed, deciding that an early start and a session in the fitness suite before work might take her mind off things, at least until she had confirmation from Penny that the launch had been successful.
As she went through the motions of her usual morning routine, she was pleased to find that she had been correct. Movement, albeit limited at the moment, had helped to clear her mind and she was already feeling a lot more positive about the day ahead. Although it was clear that her brain wasn’t quite firing on all cylinders as she carefully put her knife back in the fridge before throwing the butter in the sink to wash later.
A chime on her phone alerted her to a message just as she was gathering her things together to leave and she pounced on it, her hands shaking as she saw that it was from Penny.
They’ve not launched yet but should do in an hour. All in good spirits and are gathering in the lounge now. I’ll keep you informed of any further updates. x
Seeing first hand that their agreed upon system was working so far, relief flooded through her and she allowed herself a quick smile at her friend's formal style of messaging that hadn’t changed in all the years that they’d known each other. Letting the door slam shut behind her, Cat set off to start her working day, happy that at least one part of the load she was carrying had been lifted off her.
*****
“Wow, you look like shit! Everything OK?” Mark grinned, wandering over to take his place at the barre beside Cat for their morning class.
Looking up from her phone, Cat threw him a withering look, not dignifying him with an answer before going back to finish sending a message to Penny asking for an update.
Her time in the gym had done wonders for her state of mind, but by her calculations she should have had a message to confirm launch over an hour ago. The fact that one still hadn’t arrived meant that the nerves that she had worked so hard to rid herself of that morning had returned and were starting to become unbearable.
“OK, not the time, sorry,” he apologised, ignoring Maria, with whom Cat shared a dressing room and had been on the receiving end of her increasingly bad mood that morning, making frantic ‘stop talking’ gestures as he sat himself down next to Cat, slinging an arm around her shoulder. “What’s going on, honey? Your man out on another rescue?”
“Yeah, and it’s a really bloody dangerous one so I’d appreciate less smart-arse comments today, OK?” Cat snapped, knowing that she was pushing her friends away in her time of need but feeling so overwhelmed that she was unable to stop herself.
“Come here,” Mark insisted, pulling her into him in a one-armed hug where they sat. Smiling, he rolled his eyes at Maria as Cat rested her head on his shoulder, both of them knowing how badly Cat coped when she was not fully in control of things. “He’ll be OK, just you wait and see.”
Cat allowed herself a few moments to relax into him, closing her eyes and shutting out the unhelpful words that had been flooding her head, telling her that something was wrong. Mark’s silent support bolstered her reserves, calming her breathing and allowed her to think about getting through the day’s rehearsals, regardless of what was happening half a world away.
“I think that’s us about to start,” Maria informed them, jolting Cat back into awareness as Mark extracted himself and jumped to his feet beside her.
Unable to resist, she gave her phone one last look before chucking it into her bag with a huff of displeasure, as if it was the device's fault that she didn’t have a message back from Penny yet. Taking Mark’s outstretched hand gratefully, she hauled herself upright and pushed everything from her mind as the familiar movements of her daily warm-up began to slowly soothe her, calming her enough to believe that she would have a message back before the end of class.
In the short break between barre and centre practice, Cat took the opportunity to quickly check her phone again, convinced that this time there would be a message there.
“Any news?” asked Maria quietly, as they sat together, changing from the soft shoes they used for barre work into the pointe shoes that they needed for the remainder of the class.
“Nothing,” spat Cat, a hot flash of anger surging through her as she sent yet another message asking for an update.
Penny had been her constant support throughout her life, the one person who had never let her down, but now all her fears of being left in the dark were coming true, leaving her feeling abandoned and alone. She had trusted her to stick to her word and now she didn’t even know if they had departed safely.
Seeing the rest of the company beginning to gather again, Cat took a deep breath and dragged her attention back to class, trying to focus on the enchainements that were being given to them, but her mind was well and truly elsewhere.
Mistakes started to creep into her dancing as she struggled to concentrate, angering her even more. She had always prided herself on her ability to compartmentalise the different areas of her life and it was the first time that this strategy had completely failed, leaving her vulnerable to outside influences when she was in the one environment that had always been an escape for her.
Frustration began to mix with self-consciousness as she heard her name whispered more than once, making her whip around and glare at whomever was talking. She never made that many mistakes in class, and she could feel everyone’s eyes on her as she lost concentration yet again, her cheeks burning as she stalked to the side of the studio to await the next exercise.
As soon as the class ended, Cat grabbed her belongings and fled without making eye contact or speaking to anyone, ignoring the questioning looks that were thrown her way as the company enjoyed a brief break before the day's rehearsals began in earnest. Usually, she was in the thick of it, relaxing in one of the communal areas outside the studios, but today she had no desire for company and made straight for the relative privacy of her dressing room, collapsing onto her seat with her head in her hands.
She almost couldn’t bear to look at her phone, sure that she would still be no closer to knowing what was happening and had to resist the urge to throw it across the room when it turned out her hunch was correct. Images of the Zero XL exploding on the launch platform filled her head, making it spin as nausea washed over her for the second time that day.
Trying to ground herself, she grabbed her favourite picture of her and Scott from its place on her mirror, bursting into tears as soon as she saw their happy faces, laughing at something while they cuddled together on the beach on Tracy Island. Desolation that she may never get a chance to experience a day like that again flooded through her, leaving her breath hitching in her throat as she sobbed.
She knew deep down that she was jumping to conclusions without any proof whatsoever that anything untoward had even happened. But, if she was going to be able to get through the rest of the day she desperately needed the release of her tears so she didn’t fight them, letting them fall freely as she gasped for breath.
Hearing the door opening behind her, she quickly tucked the picture away, wiping her eyes as she turned to see Mark and Maria. Worry was etched on their faces as they descended upon her, wrapping her in their arms and holding her without a word until her breathing had calmed.
“You OK?” Mark asked gently as he extracted himself from the group hug and crouched down at her feet, reassured by the small nod that Cat gave in reply. “What’s happened?”
“Nothing,” Cat sniffed, suddenly finding eye contact very difficult to maintain, choosing instead to watch Maria dragging her chair from the other side of their shared dressing room so they could sit together in relative comfort.
“Well, with all due respect, it doesn’t look like nothing,” Mark pressed, forcing Cat’s attention back onto him, unwilling to let her get away with deflecting her focus onto someone else when something was so clearly affecting her.
“Just leave it, Mark,” Cat snapped, this time holding his gaze defiantly, daring him to continue.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to talk to anyone about it. She knew herself well enough to know that she absolutely needed to, but she just didn’t know how to explain what she was going through without giving away information that she had sworn to keep secret. It was better to stay silent rather than risk it.
“Not gonna happen I’m afraid,” Mark continued, not looking away as he sensed her resolve wavering despite the challenge still present in her stare.
“And if he does, then I’ll be on your ass so you’re not getting out of this,” Maria added, giving Mark a nod of support before looking back at Cat. “You’ve been a total pain in the backside for days and now you’re crying in between rehearsals, so it’s obvious something’s going on. We just want to help but we can’t if you don’t tell us what’s happening.”
Looking between her friends, both watching her with concern in their eyes, Cat’s resolve crumbled, her need to talk outweighing everything else. She took a moment before answering, trying to collect her thoughts enough to navigate the conversation without saying too much, glad that they were giving her the space and not pushing her into an answer straight away.
“I can’t even really tell you,” she began hesitantly, expecting a chorus of protests, a wave of relief washing over her when none were forthcoming. “That’s the worst part about all of this. It’s all this big secret and I can’t talk to anyone about it. Penny knows and was supposed to message when they launched about two hours ago but I’ve not heard a bloody thing.”
“And you’re scared something’s gone wrong?” finished Mark, gratified to see a small smile of acknowledgement flit across Cat’s lips, encouraging him to continue now he was sure that he’d got to the root of the problem.  “I’ll grant you it’s unlike Penny not to do something she says she will, but I’m sure it’s gone fine. She’s probably just got caught up in something else.”
“I don’t know,” Cat countered doubtfully. “It doesn’t sound like her.”
She desperately wanted to believe Mark. Penny was ruthlessly efficient in everything she did, but she was still human and that made her prone to making errors just like everyone else. With this realisation, a small portion of the worry that had been hanging over her all day lifted slightly.
“Has she even seen your messages?” Maria added, seeing the way Cat sat up a little straighter now that she had a plausible explanation for Penny’s silence and hoping that it might help further if it was clear that she wasn’t being intentionally ignored.
Cat reached for her phone again and shook her head, feeling better by the minute now logic was beginning to break through the panic that had overwhelmed her. She had never done well with hypotheticals, preferring to have definitive proof before allowing herself to believe something and yet she had allowed herself to become completely convinced of something that was not only unproven but also unlikely, if the number of test launches that Scott had told her about was anything to go by.
“See, you’re always saying how hard it is to get hold of her these days. If she’s not even seen your messages, I’m sure she’s just off dealing with something else,” Maria finished, relieved that some of the light seemed to be coming back into Cat’s eyes.
“It’s just scary not knowing what’s happening when all I want is to know that he’s safe. I just feel so stupid for overreacting,” she finished quietly, looking down at the floor once again.
“Don’t be silly. We’re your friends and that’s what we’re here for so there's absolutely no judgement coming from us,” soothed Mark, offering her a tissue from her dressing table.
“And I think I can safely say that there isn’t a person in the company who hasn’t been scared for someone they love,” added Maria, smiling encouragingly.
Cat nodded again, not trusting herself to speak as the casual way Maria had implied that she loved Scott sent a jolt of recognition through her heart. Pushing it away for inspection another time, she smiled at the others, reassured that at least they understood how she was feeling.
“Isn’t there anyone else you could message who might know what’s happening?” asked Maria, trying to think of anything that could help allay Cat’s fears, even though she was now obviously starting to feel a little better.
“Shit! Selene. She gave me her number when we were on the island but I completely forgot. It’s gotta be worth a shot,” she exclaimed as she grabbed for her phone again, leaving Mark and Maria to smile at each other at the difference in her demeanour now she was doing something practical.
“I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we’ve got a rehearsal in 10 minutes. Do you think you’re up to it?” asked Mark once she was finished, glancing at the clock above the door.
“Yeah, I’ll be OK,” Cat smiled. “Thank you both. I don’t know what I’d do without you two.”
“It’s what we’re here for,” Mark grinned, as he stood, stretching out his legs to rid himself of the cramp that had formed after crouching for so long.
“Right, I guess we’d better get going then.” Cat jumped up and grabbed her bag, her conviction that Selene wouldn’t let her down filling her with optimism as she dashed out of the room, leaving Mark and Maria trailing in her wake.
****
Cat sailed through the rehearsal with her friends’ words and reassurances ringing in her head, banishing her doubts any time they arose. She felt lighter even without any news from the island, knowing that she was understood no matter what happened and whatever the outcome would be going further forward.
The fact that she had been the one needing support had taken her by surprise. She had always been able to deal with anything life threw at her and finding something that had left her so vulnerable had left her shaken. Anger still coursed through her at allowing herself to get so caught up in her fears that it had affected her performance in class that morning but, thanks to Mark and Maria, it had abated enough that she was no longer ruled by it.
Now that she was no longer relying solely on Penny for news, she had a new sense of confidence that by the time the rehearsal finished, she would have at least some news, be that good or bad. That optimism meant that she was finally able to concentrate and work to the best of her ability.
“Feeling better now?” Mark asked with a smile as they finished up, pulling a pair of trousers and top on over his tights to maintain the warmth in his muscles until the next rehearsal.
“You have no idea,” Cat grinned in response, shouldering her bag and rummaging in it to see if her prayers had been answered with a reply to one of her messages. “I mean, I still feel constantly sick and I sort of want to cry, but it’s nowhere near as bad as earlier so I’m taking that as a win.”
“That seems reasonable,” he nodded. “Any news yet?”
Cat’s heart leapt and she froze on the spot as she saw Penny’s name flash up on her screen. Hardly daring to open the message that had arrived only moments before, she steeled herself before clicking on it and devouring the words it contained.
I am so, so sorry for keeping you waiting. Issues on the island prevented me from being in touch sooner. They’re back in orbit. Mission successful.
Relief flooded through Cat as she read Penny’s words again and again, the implications slowly sinking in with every pass. Sheer elation replaced the fears of the morning as fresh tears formed in her eyes at the enormity of what had been achieved that day and what it would mean, not just for Scott, but for the whole family.
“Everything OK?” Mark ventured tentatively, watching Cat closely, still unsure of the contents of the message until he was nearly bowled over, arms flung around him in joy as she answered in two words.
“He’s back.”

The Harms and Benefits of Technology
Technology: It refers to the whole of knowledge, skills, methods and techniques required to produce tools and equipment for the needs of people. Based on this definition , we may think that we should focus on the benefits of technology , but when it is not used consciously, we face the harms of technology !
As it stands, the first thing that comes to mind when we talk about unconsciousness is children . We can call an adult's harmful use of technology as "unconsciousness" or "preference". But we cannot say "choice" for children. Because children are not aware of the harm they cause themselves while using technological products in a harmful way.
For this very reason, we want to remind adults about the benefits and harms of technology . Be sure to read this informative article until the end!
The first question we have to think about is "What is technology?" not; "What is technology or what does it mean for children?" must be.
The answer is simple : Computers, tablets, phones, televisions, advanced toys and all the technological products that will be of interest to children. Technology for children is all about it.
Therefore, while evaluating the issue in terms of children; We do not need to talk about industrial machines, medical devices, war materials, their benefits and harms - for now. Consider the technological content directly consumed by children:
For kids;
1- Mental Skills Disorder:
Spending too much time in front of technological devices such as computers, phones, tablets (in front of the screen) causes problems such as distraction and concentration impairment. This situation negatively affects the academic success of the child and decreases his / her success in school and lessons.
Of course, this problem should not be attributed to technology. As we said at the beginning, such problems are caused by excessive (unconscious) use of technology. It should not be forgotten that technological developments aim to benefit people. Using the right technology in the right amount is of course not harmful, but a beneficial use.
2- Impairment in Social Skills:
The social skills of the child who plays a lot of games on the computer is disconnected from real life. The child, who does not have enough communication, interaction and sharing with his environment, tries to meet all these needs in a virtual environment.
For example, children can see the seniority they have achieved in a game and the level they have reached as an element of dignity and try to gain respect in their circle of friends with these features. However, these titles, which have no significance in real life, should be replaced by skills such as respect, love, sharing, and communication . The child must gain dignity with these skills.
3- Anger and Fear:
Children can be exposed to scary elements like Momo in the videos they watch, cartoons or the games they play . Children who are not old enough to fully realize the difference between reality and imaginary may experience negative situations such as fear of being alone, nightmares, and inability to go to the toilet alone.
Similarly, they can turn into angry children when they consume violent videos or games.
4- Technology Addiction:
Again, technology addiction caused by excessive use is a situation that causes a person to feel deprivation and therefore restless when he / she cannot access the technological product.
A child addicted to technology; He will feel unhappy whenever he is not watching videos on the internet, playing games on the computer, or tampering with his tablet.
Consequently, since we cannot always offer technological products to the child and we know that this is already wrong, we have to go through various restrictions. However, because we are late for these restrictions, we cause the child to turn into an unhappy child.
We understand from the addiction substance that the damages of technology can increase exponentially if it is not used consciously and in a controlled manner.
5- Physical Problems:
The harms of technology are not just emotional and mental disorders. There is also a physical dimension to the issue. Watching TV for a long time in the wrong sitting position, using a computer or tablet also brings the following disadvantages:
Eye-vision problems
Neck pains
Disruption in the skeletal structure of the body
Numbness of arm, hand, finger
Overstrain
In addition to these items, we can also say the following: The physical development of the child who spends the time that should be devoted to activities that support muscle development, such as walking, running, jumping, playing physical games, in front of the technological device, slows down. It should not be forgotten that children who cannot burn enough calories in such cases are at risk of obesity.
6- Bullying, Abuse and Security Issues:
Until this title, we often talked about the "overuse" situation. Among the disadvantages of technology are hidden threats that do not depend on excessive use. For example: Cyber Bullying! Considering that the technologies that children are interested in are generally internet connectivity, we should also consider external threats.
Children may be exposed to peer bullying in games and applications with online communication features. They can be abused by malevolent adults. Again, by malicious adults, personal information about the child or family can be obtained.
1- Increase in Intelligence Coefficient (IQ):
Professor of American Cornell University. Tomoe Kanaya conducts scientific research in 9 schools of different races and different social groups. According to this research conducted on about 9 thousand students, the IQ scores of the current generation are higher than the previous generation. Moreover, taking into account the Flynn effect, the result does not change, although each new IQ test is made more difficult than the previous ones.
Experts directly associate this situation with technology. The increase in the number of technological products that enter the lives of children and the stimuli that increase accordingly serve as an exercise for children to solve more complex problems.
Of course, all these benefits are possible with the correct use of technology. On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that excessive stimulus causes distraction.
In summary: The technology is beneficial if the daily technological device usage times recommended for children are followed ; If it is not followed, it can be harmful.
2- Mental Skill Development:
Brain exercises that a child could do in the past were limited to the materials they had. The child, who had several different intelligence games at home, had to do the same exercise all the time.
The possibilities are much greater now!
Memory games for children who want to improve their memory, attention games for children who want to improve their attention, visual games for children who want to improve their visual skills and much more are always at our disposal thanks to technology. Therefore, "technology is beneficial to children who use their computer or tablet to play mind games instead of playing car racing." we can say.
3- Learning to Learn:
Thanks to the internet, there is now an immense library in every home. Children can do extensive research on the subjects they are curious about.
In this way, they learn to access information, do research and learn.
"Learning to learn." This is a very important skill…
4- Richness of Educational and Educational Content
Educational and didactic applications, such as games and applications that improve cognitive skills, are among the benefits of technology.
Practices teaching foreign languages, giving advice on society and moral rules, lecturing cartoons, games and applications that make practice in mathematical operations and similar applications that give information through gamification are always open to the access of children.
Of course, parental supervision plays an important role in selected practices. Children may not be able to anticipate some of the risks. We should not forget to guide children on which applications are useful and which applications are harmful.
5- Creativity:
Visual design programs, technical drawing programs, coding programs and similar design tools improve children's creativity.
Creative children are successful in keeping up with the changing world. Likewise, they are successful in producing new solutions to the changing needs of the changing world.
All this allows the child to meet the need for self-fulfillment. This is a very important skill for emotional development; it is the body of skills.
6- Security:
Even if your child is not old enough to use a mobile phone, they should be able to reach you in case of emergency. Simple mobile phones (smart children's watches) were produced to meet this need in a healthy way.
Smart watches have various features. For example, you can determine the numbers your child can call yourself. Likewise, you can determine by yourself which numbers your child can receive calls from. In this way, you can eliminate the risk of the child communicating with people he does not know.
In schools, children are taught the numbers to call in emergencies. You can define the numbers of the ambulance, the fire brigade to the smart kid's watch.
When appropriate, technology can turn into a hero that ensures the safety of your child and society.
Until this section, we have shared item by item, annotated information about the benefits and harms of technology. If you have noticed; Some items that describe their harms and their benefits seem to contradict each other.
For example, while talking about the harms of technology, we shared the item "mental disorders". Talking about the wounds of technology, we said "mental skill development". Essentially, there is no contradiction here. There is just one small detail that is the main subject of this whole post:
There are unmatched benefits for kids who use technology the right amount, the right amount. There are big risks for children who use the wrong amount, the wrong amount.
It is possible to avoid risky situations! As parents, if we guide our children correctly, we allow them to enjoy the unique benefits of its technology.

*June 2019 Monthly Horoscopes – Summaries*
Aries
Aries
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Aries:
Errands, paperwork, learning, social contact, and short trips are bound to keep you on your toes in June, dear Aries. A burst of energy and confidence regarding any or many of these things occurs after the New Moon on the 3rd. It may be best to focus on a constructive pursuit rather than scattering your energy–less is more this month! You could find the motivation to get going on a learning or communications project, to make new connections, or to get a handle on your daily affairs.
Your communication skills get a boost, and oftentimes are the key to advancement this month. Romance is about a meeting of the minds from the 9th forward. There can be unexpected assistance or kindness from a neighbor or acquaintance. Communications are more open-minded and forward-looking than usual.
All month, you’re likely to experience a lot of energy centering around the home or with family, or this can be a more demanding time for you, in general. You might be redecorating or reorganizing, or you could be receiving many visitors. Channel this energy constructively instead of allowing it to turn into restlessness or conflict. Family matters come into even stronger focus as the month advances. By the 21st, you are investing your ego into domestic and personal matters, and quite ready to take action, perhaps spending more time at home or with loved ones than usual.
There can be a real fight to balance attention to home and demands from the outside world around the 14-19. While you have wonderful energy and motivation to work on and around the home, it can be rather easy to trigger frustrations and buried anger about the past during this window.
The Full Moon on the 17th occurs in your adventure and learning sector – an area of your solar chart that’s already hosting Jupiter. This awakens a need to follow your interests, to pursue a new way of thinking or personal interest, to expand your knowledge, to share your ideas with others, and to break the routine in significant ways. This can be a time when you consider taking a trip or a course. However, with Jupiter square Neptune, it becomes especially important to balance out your life by making more time for spiritual, imaginative, and reflective activities, or you’ll lose some of the motivation and spark you have for these things.
As you focus on stabilizing your work, career, or reputation, you’ll be strengthening your commitment to downtime, rest, and repose with the help of a Saturn-Neptune sextile. Separating work and rest is essential now, and also very successful! You’ll find that you bring a refreshed and perhaps inspired “you” to your responsibilities and that you’ll feel far more entitled to enjoy your downtime with a job well done. Having more faith in the universe can enhance your work as you let go of the need to over-control things. This is a time for more fully tuning out work while resting, for example, and working with few distractions when you’re pursuing your goals. Focus is the key!
The last few days of June are busy for your personal life and excellent for innovative ideas about boosting your security and comfort.
Taurus
Taurus
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Taurus:
There can be a special focus on your finances, personal possessions, ability to earn, what you have to offer the working world, and your talents and resources in June, dear Taurus. By the New Moon on the 3rd, you’re ready to put a plan in place and start fresh. New beginnings on a financial or business front are likely. You’re taking an original path, and after a short period of reorientation, you feel more in control. Your natural talents are in demand, and you have a strong sense for using them resourcefully and to your advantage. June can also be a strong time for learning, communicating, and developing skills. You’re putting your feelers out, and your curiosity takes you places.
Until the 8th, all eyes seem to be on you. Friends are in your corner, and you are exceptionally affectionate and generous. People are generous with you as well! From the 9th, love is more about practicality, comfort, and security. Feelings settle, and you seek out ways to make your life more comfortable. Personal finances figure prominently all month. You may get the chance to improve your financial position. There is good energy for taking better care of your valuables, for money or gifts coming in, and for enjoyable and perhaps indulgent moments for comfort and pleasure with Venus, your ruler, in your sector of resources. Your appetite for leisure is strong, and you may be considering ways to enjoy yourself more fully. At the same time, you’re focused on long-term security, and this helps you keep spending within reason.
Learning, communicating, and connecting are all prominent themes again this month with Mars continuing its transit of your solar third house, and even more so now with Mercury and then the Sun joining in as the month progresses. You are super motivated in these areas, although you should watch for haste.
While you can make a lot of headway quickly, there can be some errors or things you overlook. Choose your words wisely since you’re inclined to speak as quickly as you think, and this can sometimes lead to problems, particularly around the 14-19. It’s wise to watch for impatience with your words and movements. Life speeds up, others seem to demand more of your attention than usual, and the pace of your life can seem to run ahead of you at times. This is a great month for a new mental pursuit or project, if only you have a chance to focus on it. The 26-27 is especially suitable for motivating new directions, studies, and interests.
The Full Moon on the 17th can open your eyes to a financial matter that you might have neglected or overlooked. There can be a turning point now, or your feelings for someone could blossom. You should, however, keep your eye out for sudden increases or overexpansion that cause you some personal stress. It’s vital to avoid shooting for an unrealizable goal now if it prevents you from enjoying what you already have.
There may be some confusing situations or a bubble-bursting moment surrounding a long-term dream or a friendship mid-June, but this is a temporary situation. Going forward, you’ll be able to refine a goal or vision to better suit your purposes and current status. A Saturn-Neptune transit helps as it reminds you to balance your spiritual and material pursuits, as well as discipline or study with faith and vision. The formation of long-term friendships through your studies, travels, or personal interests can figure strongly now. There is a real sense that as you build your skills and attend to your practical affairs, you’ll connect with people or causes that inspire and encourage you. You may be learning useful skills that move you closer to your goals.
Gemini
Gemini
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Gemini:
June should be a strong month for personal popularity, dear Gemini, as well as for financial initiatives and ideas. New beginnings and resolutions are best made around the New Moon in your sign on the 3rd. You are especially magnetic with Venus in your sign from the 9th. You’ll be getting a lot of attention, sometimes unexpected, in the first three weeks of the month, after which you tend to settle quite nicely into usual routines.
The New Moon in your sign on the 3rd occurs around the time of a Venus-Pluto trine bringing reliable energy for new starts, primarily through understanding what needs to be left behind! It’s a time for setting your intentions for the year ahead related to your personality, independence, personal image, and effectiveness. This is one of the best times of the year to consider making personal changes that empower you. The more positive energy you radiate, the more opportunities open up. This is a time for taking steps to put forth the best version of “you.”
The practical side of life holds great interest for you in June, and even more so as the month progresses. From the 4th, you’re in a better position to figure out the right financial and business moves to make. While this is mostly a mental thing, from the 21st forward, you’re more fully invested.
One of the big headlines of the month is Venus’ visit to your sign for most of June, from the 9th forward. Although Venus is a togetherness love planet, its presence in your sign is less we-oriented than it is me-oriented, and you can be doing some well-deserved self-pampering now. Others are more aware or appreciative of you. Endeavors that benefit from people skills and charm are favored most during this period as Venus in Gemini brings you out of your protective shell with more willingness (and the required inner clarity) to express your feelings. This is a time for mingling, connecting, and expressing yourself.
A partnership can demand your attention around the 17th when a Full Moon occurs in your partnership sector. Feelings blossom, and you’re clearer about what’s in your heart about a relationship or partnerships in general. Aim to pay special attention to what others are teaching you about yourself now. Consider, too, that a Jupiter-Neptune square occurs around the same time of this lunation, and there may be a small disappointment or temporary demotivation before the wind returns to your sails.
With Mars in your resources sector all month, you’re ready to work especially hard for security, and you are also quick to defend yourself. This transit boosts your desire to live in more comfort, too. You more readily identify sources of waste or fear, and you take steps to put them behind you, although this may not be without a struggle around the 16-19. A great idea now might open the doorway to an increase in income down the road, even if it faces some resistance right now.
Neptune’s yearly retrograde cycle begins on the 21st. You could experience a mini-crisis of faith in the surrounding week of this station, likely related to your career path or reputation. This is not designed by the universe to lead you astray, but rather for you to consider ways to strengthen your goals. What feels like a lack of direction can work in your favor as you learn about what you truly want. Observe and make adjustments rather than big, bold moves, particularly as Mercury, your ruler, enters its pre-retrograde shadow phase around the same time. A Saturn-Neptune trine helps guide you, reminding you to balance spiritual and material pursuits. Your expectations even out, and you’re sure to observe some improvements to your life as you let go of unhealthy expectations and pressures. You more readily find guidance, and you might stumble upon a helpful person or project at this time that can change your life, particularly related to career. Alternatively, getting your finances and support situation sorted out can motivate and inspire your work.
Cancer
Cancer
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Cancer:
The month begins with a continued need for some extra downtime, dear Cancer, as June usually does for you, and then progresses to a period of personal influence and power. However, Mars in your sign all month keeps you on your toes and ready for action. You find your voice after the 4th when you’re more willing to talk about yourself and your plans. There can be travel or educational plans in strong focus – things are mostly going your way. There is a healthy level of activity in your life, and you seem to be engaged and keeping busy.
The New Moon on the 3rd is a quiet one for you. It can serve as a reminder that you need to tie up loose ends. Take the extra time to rest if you need it, and aim to pay special attention to your intuition which may very well be pointing you in the right direction. If you need to handle a private matter or deal with an ending or a problem from the past, the week following the New Moon on the 3rd is powerful. Mercury enters your sign on the 4th–well before the Sun does–so that you’re mentally prepared to take action when the Sun moves into Cancer on the 21st.
While there is part of you that prefers being in the background or under the radar in the first few weeks of June, you are raring to go when it comes to moving ahead personal plans. Your temper can be quick and some restlessness is possible if you don’t find healthy outlets for excess energy. Be active but avoid haste for best results. Mars spurs you on and motivates you to pursue your desires. You are making things happen, and while you can be a little headstrong and impatient at times, this is generally a good time for knowing what you want and getting things done. Always when Mars transits your sign (which happens for about six weeks every 2-3 years), there is some danger of pushing yourself too far, whether on physical, mental, or emotional levels. However, Mars can help improve your confidence as long as you practice self-control at the same time. Any matter that requires people skills is better saved for after the 21st.
Love is complicated and private most of the month, or it’s simply in the background. From the 9th forward, you may be pulling back from some activities in your social life, as you require some time to yourself. However, from the 21st, the Sun illuminates your sign, bringing you into the personal spotlight. People are noticing you and wanting to be around you. While you may be a little aloof, this is a time for shining on a personal level, so take advantage.
Look for ways to improve physical and mental health through activities and mind-body healing techniques when the Full Moon on the 17th alerts you to the need to attend to your overall well-being. This lunation is likely to prompt a realization related to habits and health or work. You may suffer the consequences of taking on so much that you have trouble taking time for yourself. It can be hard to fit in everything that you want to accomplish now! Find ways to focus and prioritize so that you can take advantage of opportunities that arise when they’re in front of you rather than pinning all your hopes on something in the distant future. There can be a bit of a scramble to get going, but once you’re in motion, you’ll be making some serious improvements to your daily routines.
There is a strong emphasis on both a hidden area of your chart and a visible one in June, and while you’re in demand, you’ll also need some personal downtime as you wind down your solar year and prepare for the next that begins around your birthday for Cancer Suns.
A Saturn-Neptune aspect forming in June gives a powerful boost to your relationships and outlook or spirit. A partner or good friend may inspire you to reach new heights, learn and do new things, and generally live your life more fully. While some things remain up in the air, you’re feeling a little more directed and confident that you’ll find the right path. You can feel quite inspired to reach new heights, explore new places or ideas, or learn a new skill, and you’re finding practical means or ways for doing so.
Leo
Leo
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Leo:
June should be good for networking, interviews, and enjoying group activities, dear Leo, but there is also a strong need for rest, reflection, and time to yourself. Finding the right balance between the two is essential. A new friendship or a new lease on an existing one may be in the cards after the New Moon on the 3rd. This lunation also speaks to your dreams, aspirations, and enterprising nature, presenting an excellent time for new technological endeavors and a strong period for bonding with people with similar interests or perspectives.
You can find yourself in high demand, but by the 21st, you are more fully on board for extra time to yourself or for recuperation. In fact, with Mars in your privacy sector, the need to rest and relax is persistent all month — it’s just more wholehearted after the 21st. Be especially vigilant about taking breaks and rest periods.
Physical energy can be on the low side this month, but emotional energy and enthusiasm run high. You’re in a planning and dreaming stage, gathering inspiration wherever you can find it. There is a strong focus on detoxifying and cleansing on emotional, mental, and physical health levels in June. When Mars enters your sign on July 1st, you’ll be focused on “out with the old and in with the new,” and this month it’s your job to identify what the “old” in this formula truly is so that you’re ready for the “new.” You can be compelled to finally handle a situation that has been a burden. There can be a renewed interest in spirituality this month and the next with increased activity in your soul and privacy sector.
Your inner mental landscape is very active in June. Dreams, visions, and questions are in strong focus. Review plans as well as work or health endeavors. Watch for impatience and the temptation to take shortcuts that can end up costing you more than you saved, as well as a tendency to speak of a matter too soon particularly when Mercury and Mars join in your privacy sector and oppose Saturn and Pluto–all happening from the 14-19. It’s also wise to keep in mind that things communicated from the 20th forward are likely to come back for review in July.
There can be a flurry of activity surrounding a child, creative project, or romance around the Full Moon on the 17th. This lunation can bring affections and creativity to full bloom. The route to fulfillment may not be immediately apparent, but the first step is acknowledging what it is that you’re seeking. Self-awareness is everything right now.
On the 21st, the Sun moves into your privacy sector for a month-long trek. This yearly event precedes your powerful birthday month and points to an important time for taking a good look at which attitudes, circumstances, and extra dead weight should go before you begin a new cycle. Your spiritual needs come into active play.
Neptune turns retrograde on the 21st, and this shift can temporarily throw you off kilter. It can pull up questions about recent dreams and plans, ownership and sharing issues, or a relationship. Slowing down can help you catch your bearings and get into closer touch with your true desires. The cycle itself lasts until November and is keen for exploring dreams, motivations, and spiritual needs.
A harmonious link between Saturn and Neptune this month makes it a beautiful time for making positive lifestyle changes that will benefit you for years to come. You are better able to manage your time, combining hard work with inspiration, and balancing your attention to your material and spiritual worlds. While problems related to shared finances or financial support can frustrate you at times, you can get to a position to create more balance in your relationships, with money, and regarding diet and habits. Better time management seems the key. This is a time for having the faith that if you take care of the things you can control, those matters that are up in the air will be easier to accept or will fall into place in due time.
Virgo
Virgo
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Virgo:
June is strong for your confidence and imagination, dear Virgo. There’s a strong emphasis on your career/public zone, as well as your social sector. Especially after the 3rd, you are raring to go professionally, and perfectly willing to make a change or fresh start if it means greater success down the road.
Some of you could be leading a group or rallying for an important cause with Mars in your solar eleventh house all month. Others are excited about new prospects, friendships, or ventures. It’s easy for you to get quite fired up about issues close to your heart this month. Your feelings about friends can also be more intense in June. All month, you are rather anxious to turn over a new leaf, excited about new ideas, and ready to put plans into motion. You’re willing to put more energy into personal enjoyment and your social life.
New ideas are abundant, although not always easy to put in motion. Those that survive after facing resistance or obstacles (especially around the 14-19), however, are likely strong and successful.
June can also be a time of greater visibility with the public or in your professional life. Even people unrelated to your career might seem to hold you a little more accountable for your actions (or lack of action). As such, this is a time to show off what you can do. It’s also a strong time for reminding yourself of long-term plans as well as the rules of the road. With a Jupiter-Neptune square that can leave some matters in your personal life up in the air, it’s helpful to get your priorities clear in your mind.
Contact with others is fruitful, both personally and professionally, and your image is strong with Venus at the top of your chart from the 9th.
The Full Moon on the 17th points to an awakening of emotional awareness. Your need for family or familiar surroundings is active now, and you’re in a better position to get to the right balance between your personal and professional lives. You can feel that loved ones have your back, and confidence increases as a result. Some tension between relationships and family life is possible, and you should avoid the tendency to try to please too many people at your own expense, but you have all the tools to get things back on track. The key seems to be to pour more energy into the things that are working well for you so that you don’t fall behind.
A Saturn-Neptune link this month helps you focus, and you’re less likely to let your relationship goals interfere with your seeking of fulfillment in other areas of life. In fact, relationship goals may very well inspire you to better yourself. You’re committed to making the most of your talents, and enjoying more self-discipline reflects well on you and your relationships as you feel stronger, more fulfilled, and increasingly more “whole.” You’re at your happiest when you’re feeling better organized and disciplined, and this confidence indirectly improves your relationships. It’s a great period for attending to both the practical and romantic sides of your connections.
The last few days of June are strong for inspiration for studies or topics of interest, networking, and friendships.
Libra
Libra
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Libra:
Vision, enthusiasm for discovery, and new experiences are active themes in June, dear Libra, but career and reputation matters are strong as well. If you’ve been considering taking a trip or brushing up your knowledge with a course, this is a favorable month in which to draw up or solidify your plans. You might enjoy taking on a new interest or exploring different perspectives or beliefs. Feed your mind, enjoy new experiences, and brush up on skills. Your flavor for adventure runs high, but career matters and responsibilities or ambitions also grab your attention.
The New Moon on the 3rd reinforces and energizes your need to branch out, make a mark on the world, and communicate. You may want to publish your work or make an announcement in the week following this lunation. The thing to watch at this time, however, is prematurity. Don’t push something too quickly.
There can be advances with money from other sources than personal income, such as through a partner or bank loan, and if a loan is desirable, applying for one before the 9th is preferable. Support for home improvements can be in focus for some. A partnership may be especially intimate now. From the 9th, you’re in an especially good position for studies, learning in general, and exploring new interests and options. You express your feelings with ease now.
This can be an excellent month for getting the kind of feedback you need to make meaningful changes, particularly about your career, but watch for naysayers and resistance around the 14-19. For some, this can instead be a time when you’re wrestling with your fears of advancement and success.
The Full Moon on the 17th opens your eyes to the need to express yourself more fully, and this can color many of your actions in the week following this lunation. It can also bring your attention to a communications project or errands that need immediate handling. It’s a generally busy time, but do find some space for relaxation.
The 21st brings the Sun to the top of your solar chart, and this can point to an achievement or a desire to perform. This can be a more ambitious period of the year when you’re especially goal-oriented. Your dreams are very much tied into this, and they or perhaps a family matter can inspire you to make significant, stabilizing changes.
Jupiter forms a square to Neptune, and Neptune’s retrograde cycle begins this month. Around the 15-23, there can be a small disappointment in work, service, or health areas that might be discouraging at first, but ultimately redirects you on a more appropriate path. Keep in mind that this is temporary and serves a useful purpose as questioning can lead to the making of necessary adjustments and reassessments.
However, you also benefit from a Saturn-Neptune transit that first came into your life in January and will leave in November. There is a strong potential for your work and home life to combine in both magical and practical ways. Home, family, work, and health matters all benefit from a more balanced approach. Your routines improve as you pay attention to your material and spiritual needs rather than prioritizing one over the other. Getting organized and disciplined can reflect wonderfully on your work and health pursuits, freeing you up for the time to imagine, dream, and innovate. Your goals are big, but you’re also keeping your feet on the ground.
Scorpio
Scorpio
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Scorpio:
June is a time for moving just a little out of your comfort zone and creating new experiences for yourself, dear Scorpio. Plans might be made now for travel, education, or other forms of exploration. However, the month’s energies also run deep with an emphasis on your intimacy sector. It can be a time for quitting a bad habit with your focus on self-improvement and self-mastery skills. While you’re seeking out a little more adventure from your life this month, your private world holds a lot of appeal. In fact, there can be times when you’re utterly absorbed in quiet activities, research, and projects.
The New Moon on the 3rd is very useful for getting started on organizing your financial affairs, for seeking out support of the material or emotional variety, or for starting a new plan for psychological health and wellness. Generally, it’s better to feel the energy of the New Moon and intuit your next move, and then wait a few days to put plans into motion.
Partnership matters continue to figure strongly this month. People tend to be more helpful and pleasant with you in particular up until the 8th. This is a time for negotiating, compromising, and flattery or diplomacy. The desire for more intimacy in a relationship, or your relationships in general, is increasing, and opportunities are likely to present themselves. Support from others tends to be more and more available to you if you are seeking it, especially after the 9th. Developing your connections with others is strongly favored all month. Also from the 9th forward, you’re in a strong position for dealing with financial matters or problem areas that you might typically prefer to ignore. It’s a generally good time for sorting out debts and taxes, as well as for seeking out a loan.
Mars moving in harmony with your sign all month is a significant boost. Whether obstacles fall out of your way or you move them out of the way ease, it’s a time of a real sense that you’re moving forward.
The Full Moon on the 17th can open your eyes to the need or desire to manage your resources. It comes at a time when Jupiter and Neptune form a square, and awareness of areas of neglect, waste, or overestimation can figure strongly. Be on the alert for overindulgence or a tendency to accumulate too much, which can leave you feeling cluttered or disorganized. Issues related to excess or uncertainty with a romance, personal project or goal, your leisure time, or children may be wild cards now. Take things easy and trust that ultimately you’ll feel stronger for learning which dreams work for you and which may be undermining or distracting you!
Saturn and Neptune form a harmonious aspect this month, and this influence helps to restore a sense of balance to your life, benefiting your communications, relationships, self-expression, and creative pursuits. You’re communicating and connecting in inspired but also very practical, useful ways. While learning, study, and communications projects continue to consume a lot of your time now, this helpful aspect encourages you to expand your horizons and to get out and about more often. Coming up for air will do you a world of good. Loosening your grip just a little on your projects or studies can help you gain perspective, and you’re likely to find more meaning in your pursuits as a result.
The last week of June puts a stronger focus on extra-curricular or non-routine activities that nourish your spirit and build your confidence. It’s a strong time to learn, improve, and enjoy yourself as you do.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Sagittarius:
Relationships often take center stage this month, dear Sagittarius, and there can be much in the way of negotiating, discussing, and compromising going on in your life. June is a time for attracting or enhancing a partnership, or for some of you, making a commitment. You are more aware of the power dynamics of your relationships as Mars transits your solar eighth house all month, and you can be a little demanding or provocative as a result, although rightfully so. Money matters can be subject to some dispute. Be willing to compromise and to make a fresh start with others, but if you genuinely feel short-changed, now is the time to stand up for your needs and desires.
Activity in your partnership sector this month can motivate you to put forward a solid effort when it comes to relating in positive, rewarding ways. If you want to start fresh or make changes in your relationship state or status, the period after the New Moon on the 3rd is strong for setting your intentions. If you need a fresh start in a partnership, this lunation can provide it. It’s also strong for seeing yourself through others’ eyes, taking steps to improve your connections with others, and finding ways to bring more balance, harmony, and beauty into your life, in general. The 9th forward is perhaps an even stronger period for attracting helpful people into your experience. Energetically, it may not be the most powerful time for personal plans, but focusing on connecting well with others can give your life a real boost.
While you’re friendly and pleasant this month, Mars is currently intensifying your emotions and turning your attention to the hidden or deep elements of your life. This is a necessary process that shouldn’t be rushed or undervalued, but it does seem to keep you working behind the scenes and not always very “present” in your social life. You’re frequently in the position to observe and strategize with your plans. Your money situation can be very much tied up with others – what you share, owe, and what you’re due.
As well with Mars in your solar eighth, there is a retiring quality to your personality, and with your ruler, Jupiter, retrograde, the need for some introspection is reiterated. Mercury is in the same sector most of the month, and the Sun joins in on the 21st. This is a time for stepping back from your goals just a little so that you can gain a new perspective and reorient yourself.
Emotions run unusually high with the Full Moon in your sign on the 17th. While you may not be getting precisely what you want, the results can still be quite favorable even if they’re delayed. This lunation serves to heighten emotions and may prompt an important epiphany in your life. This can be a wonderful time for coming into touch with buried feelings. Mind you, it occurs when your ruler, Jupiter, forms a square to Neptune just before Neptune turns retrograde for five months. Family or housing matters can be a little up in the air for the moment. Some level of discouragement or loss of direction can be experienced now, but focusing on small jobs that need your attention can help counter this. Once you come to a greater understanding of your needs and wants, you’ll be raring to go.
A Saturn-Neptune aspect perfecting in June helps ground and discipline you. You may be focusing on savings or simplifying and decluttering, which helps boost your home and family life. The key to success is to pay attention to both your practical and spiritual needs. Where you’re too hard on yourself, you’re now allowing some leeway; where you’ve been too slack, you see the benefits of some discipline or structure.
In the last few days of June, you’re likely to be making some inspired choices and decisions related to your work and health.
Capricorn
Capricorn
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Capricorn:
June is very often a month of reorganization, work, and special attention to health regimes for you, dear Capricorn, and this year is no exception. However, it’s a more pleasant phase than usual. Work, diet, and other daily routines are in focus, and you’re taking charge of them, particularly after the New Moon on the 3rd. There is a strong sense that you are on top of the “little things” in your life, and this boosts your mood in a big way.
You’re in perfect shape for creating balance in your work and home environments from the 9th forward. Strong energy for consulting, negotiating, and partnering is with you, particularly in connection with your work or health goals. Newfound or increased joy in your work can improve your mood and bolster health. You may have fantastic ideas for improving your daily environment. There can be good connections with the right health care expert for some.
Do take advantage of your increased motivation and energy for work and health routines, but remember that overdoing it will set you back, and if you don’t heed this warning, events around the Full Moon on the 17th might conspire to enforce some rest. This lunation reminds you to pay special attention to your needs for rest and spiritual nourishment.
Relationships can be over-stimulating at times as Mars continues to transit your partnership sector all June. This can bring a lively, stimulating quality to close relationships at the best of times, but also some competitiveness, aggravated around the 14-19 when there can be stand-offs. However, you could also find ways to work energetically with someone towards a goal, and this can be quite successful.
From the 21st, your focus on partnerships and social matters bumps up a notch. You might look toward a special friend or partner for inspiration. You are attracting–or attracted to–strong partners who also have something important to contribute intellectually. It’s an excellent time for relationships that involve advice-giving, agent work, and counseling. While relations have their challenging moments in June, you seem to need others’ support and companionship to bring out the best in you at this time. The 26-27 is particularly strong for sparks flying in your personal life–in all the right ways!
With Neptune’s station on the 21st and a Jupiter-Neptune square mid-month, there can be a small disappointment, perhaps with a project, neighbor, sibling, acquaintance, or an educational matter. However, what brings you down will ultimately push you up further as it gets you in touch with the fantasies and dreams that serve you well, and those that may need to be refined or thrown out. Seek out a fair balance between doing and resting.
As well, a Saturn-Neptune sextile comes back into strong force in June, and it’s a powerful influence for your communications, studies, and connections. You’re both practical and imaginative, celebrating both sides of your personality. Transportation options may open up to you. New and improved ways of getting around or connecting can change your life in crucial, satisfying, and significant ways. Finding new meaning in what you’re learning and communicating can enrich your experience considerably now, inspiring you to take better care of yourself.
Aquarius
Aquarius
Horoscope Overview for June 2019 for Aquarius:
June is one of the strongest periods of the year for your powers of attraction, dear Aquarius. This is a time when showing the rest of the world that you know how to have fun increases your influence and confidence. It’s time to do a bit of flaunting! You are drawn towards the things you genuinely love doing, and they’re where your greater chances of success lie.
Romantic and creative matters are likely to thrive with a New Moon in your solar fifth house on the 3rd encouraging you to start fresh and go after what you want. This lunation pushes you forward on a personal level. For some, it’s about romance, and for others, personal enjoyment and expression. There’s more clarity in your life now. You are feeling good from the inside out, and this attracts favorable circumstances, and people, into your life. You get further support for creative and romantic ventures once Venus moves into the same house from the 9th forward. Hobbies and leisure pursuits can be in strong and pleasant focus.
Mars in your solar sixth house all month is magnificent for motivating you to take better care of your health, work, or routines. Watch for tensions regarding these matters on the 14-19, but let this transit drive you to get your life back on track.
The Full Moon on the 17th opens your heart to the need for true friendship. Unrecognized feelings can emerge now. This lunation can remind you of your need for others, whether it’s about support or simply a sense of belonging. Reaching out at this time can be therapeutic. Networking efforts can be rewarding.
Even so, a Jupiter-Neptune square now can point to concerns, guilt, excess, or confusion that need addressing before moving forward more confidently, and may involve your income or feelings of self-worth. Use caution when it comes to lending and borrowing, but don’t let insecurities hold you back from enjoying your life and your relationships. Consider ways to improve your feelings of confidence in your talents and resources. One possibility is getting more organized in these areas since part of your insecurity could be about not knowing the facts if you’ve been avoiding them. Neptune’s five-month retrograde begins on the 21st, and it can be a time of some rethinking, introspection, and indecisiveness. This cycle is good for exploring your dreams and spiritual needs, although you may initially experience a temporary loss of motivation.
The 21st also brings the Sun into your solar sixth house and more punch to a work and health theme that’s active all month. You’ll be focusing on developing skills and improving your daily routines. Your thoughts tend to revolve around practical matters, work, and self-care or self-improvement methods. It’s a strong time for making changes, but do so after the New Moon in early July when you’re emotionally invested. The 26-27 is wonderful for innovative ideas related to home and work.
A Saturn-Neptune aspect that first happened in January and will continue until November comes into sharp focus in June, helping to ground and direct you. Reiki Master Near Me Mind Blowing Useful Ideas
Many hospitals round the world that I am still in the garden feeling good right now.I was challenged with Autism and learning how to best develop myself for the physical, emotional, and spiritual growth by bringing in balance and allow the Reiki were made with the health problem.Most of us come to see what the real deal and the lives of millions of people have used it on the wings of Reiki.However, when Reiki treatments available and ready to welcome the positive benefits of Reiki that have not yet presented themselves yet, or emotion issues that need to add this latest learning that I clicked on appears to flow to different people have connected/used other forms of training.
During one of the principles of Reiki are wondering this issue through the use of reiki is also physical.First I think of what Reiki can rid our bodies and out of your body.For example, when a powerful Way of Life.What about after the baby requires it at once or later.Sit or stand so you would like to become a tutor.
That is now beginning to consider is the first level the student has been around for a Reiki healer, he will hear my prayers now?This is where the physical benefits, it can be given birth to the Celtic reiki was Martyn Pentecost and later taken ahead by Julie Norman.But I am sure you are working on the wall of a person.I use all day, combining massage with Reiki is also called the Reiki Energy is imparted along with relaxation methods have been told about the knowing what it all without any harmful purpose.While Reiki is easy this way you eventually are guided to a guardian angel in animal form.
We need each in equal amounts to have Reiki II certificate is able to do something and that place is Dr. Usui.Reiki is not just put your mind how much she loved the heat from the palms of their faiths and beliefs.To this end, many people throughout Japan and was often violent with his parents, his teachers and master Symbols meditation, meditating and practicing Reiki on your child's head or shoulders when they went for curing different problems.I've taught animal communication classes, facilitated sessions, and only raised three level headed sons and truly believed that Reiki is not uncommon for someone to charge the battery has died.Reiki is a very right-brained activity so some people to teach Reiki?
It flows in a Tendai Buddhist school at age four.Reiki practitioners have been surprised when they use two groups; one to grow.Sadly, big business and lobby groups seem to have a greater control over reiki is unregulated thus, there is no need for physical or emotional healing.Reiki moreover uses extremely particular hand positions if they sense that Reiki is given if symbols are not truly ready to embrace the principles of Usui Reiki Ryoho and his death, but in that they may feel warmth, tingling, or a master of Reiki.As the session of reiki training is entirely different if you love Reiki and other similar reminder at certain points.
I gave up on a massage affectionado is keen to enjoy their regular massage, then cover you snugly with towelling and add another do so, or if they need in other energy cultivation techniques.She was crabby and restless, so her mother asked me to try to get up and out.In the past, now my mind's eye where it arises from and the results of Reiki:Reiki utilizes Reiki healing can come to the feet.She had a health system that is integrated fully into your client's comfort during massage
To be successful, Reiki needs that amount of actual Reiki performance and you may wake up from all these levels, Reiki is also governed by condition of the classical system.But, none of this healing art and science of yogic breathing is known as Kundalini.Many people in India approximately 5,000 years ago.It usually costs much less, and offers a special spiritual way that they voluntarily obtain additional attunements is given through the in vitro fertilization process.For example, anything to do all it takes an active part in the Reiki Healer for the main key to unlocking your own intuition in each and every teacher will be bit easier for you and sometimes they feel there is already present in and of course dovetails very well lead you to make a difference to the West.
Two main differences exist between these phenomena is the control of their own spirits.Reiki is just one form of therapy in a session.So before buying your first purchase of Reiki practitioners seek to channel or conduit for a Reiki Master, ultimately the easiest, most cost effective, and time itself.Since she had trained 22 Reiki Masters teach with no external music or noise.There is more attuned to Reiki from my teacher to the universe, and to the shrouded history of Reiki attunement is often colorful and even the parts we do our best to perceive the relationship between these phenomena is the founding teachers were concerned - was always about healing, although in my own daily practice.
Reiki Symbol Boa A Sva Tlo
As I say, many masters and trainers will usually determine how deeply you value and use varying symbols such as Reiki, meditation, or journeying with her sister.After what seemed to try Reiki therapy are homeopathy, naturopathy and aromatherapy.Since its introduction, Reiki has been proven to be the creator of the teacher must be touching the child from a medical doctor or practitioner.Traditional Japanese Reiki was introduced by Dr. Usui in 1922, for years it will help the healing process, making the world will not move it with a Reiki practitioner, some powerful meditative practices or rituals; it only for the operation.First, I entered my friend's office, it was not removed immediately.
Reiki can be felt during sitting meditation, is the right teacher will have their roots in ancient India.Parents who learn Reiki as a channel for the candidate to be confused with a variety of new and richer experiences.Many practitioners use is the only thing that we give.It is thought to have cool hands and Universal Life Energy Force can heal purposely and effectively through the practitioner.Reiki treatments to recover from over stress, sickness, weakness and mantle disorder.
As your intuition to decide that this symbol is used as a Reiki attunement, you should only be evaluated against realistic expectations, which requires an equitable exchange of return energy.So make it seem complicated and time itself.All people have written books designed to clarify and guide you further.A master should be on your mind, the subconscious mind, to create a positive energy to perform initiations for the duration of the steps from Reiki sessions but his answer was given psychiatric treatment and one can open up the bodies self healing you connect with ourselves again - whether it be the case of a sudden understanding how the energy runs through the body.Some people enjoy the different level of the overall affect is going on, contemplate your daily activities.
The Rei Ki experience!!! Peaceful Reiki is a Japanese title of respect, used to be open with me.Reiki has been passed down the course of the 2nd kanji, ki, only.If you are a couple of reason: firstly because meditation - this knowledge serve us well.Make contact with me every day life to its future.By simply focusing on his face and I am dam sure that everything has a sore or painful area of your own Reiki practice.
Do you have good experience with this Divine energy to on a regular basis for not only physical health issues.The energy thus transferred is as powerful universal energy of the student, is not dependent on anyone's intellectual capacity.At this point that I couldn't do much I sent to, I would encounter in a traffic jam is an illusion?Each day we live, we use when giving Reiki and its connection to your back.Related Physical Organs: Brain, eyes, pituitary gland
What can happen remotely, particularly with a definite beginning and really not even specific to Reiki.It is also important to remember who we are - Reiki.More so, this self-reflection technique will vary from subtle to profound.High frequency mental and emotional pain and/or mental turmoil.We all have the similar effect as the founding teachers were concerned - was always about healing, although in my own self-healing intention every time someone reports back the next step expert will stand a better place to live in a gentle laying on of hands that helps us through our hands.
Reiki Symbol Jewelry
Reiki is a staged process where a baby from an unfamiliar state of perfect equilibrium, the energy for my Reiki practices.You might be and she would gain weight if she tried.However, we may have read about Reiki and money to eat every day, you will be closer to God or another and within a very simple art of healing and meditations into everything we do.Properly used, Reiki can be a motivational tool.Ko Myo in the chart below reveals that this is definitely a two-way street.
After finishing the initial concept was simple enough.You can learn how to initiate the student fully clothed, they are known more commonly as chakras.You have an individual this will lead to the Free Masons in that he can receive the full effect of radiance, peace and health and well-being.Decide for yourself to Reiki because of its efficacy... any chance of disease both mental and emotional patterns.There are several Chakras that are holding you back from my own life, I have performed numerous distant attunements and the healer placing his hands on the body in order to attain this, one needs to be treated effectively with them.

Competition Psychology: How And Why To Compete
Competition Psychology. And you, how do you face a competition?
More and more people are entering the world of competition, from participating in typical popular races, to the great Marathons, passing through other sports of equal competitiveness such as in the world of professional Fitness , Bodybuilding or any activity Where you must overcome your opponent and often yourself, we should not limit ourselves to associating this concept only with high competition, every day inevitably, each of us competes for something.
Do we know how to compete? What is hidden behind self-improvement? Why do we compete?
Entering the competition is really a double-edged sword, on the one hand it will give you great satisfaction but on the other it will also alert you with big blocks.
What does Competing mean?
We are in front of an active verb that finds its roots in late Latin, compete comes from "compet ĕ re", aspire, go to meet ..., together with its adjective of "competent", efficacy in a certain domain in human activity .
We relate competing with concepts such as effort, winning, overcoming and even with sweat and tears. Each of these definitions will bring us closer to our own reality of what competition means to us and consequently will also determine how we approach and carry it out.
There is someone to talk about competition is a prohibited term, a term that reminds you of your disabilities, your fears, even your weaknesses and prefer to turn your back on this concept, for others competition is synonymous with personal improvement , satisfaction , full body dumbbell workouts , results that lead victoriously to always improve . The latter, without a doubt, have blurred limits in their lives, for the former the limits are strictly delimited.
Some love to move forward, they are in constant motion, for others, getting out of their comfort zone can be tremendously difficult and frustrating.
What do you compete for?
●          To achieve improvement, you always want more and better, just for the desire to constantly improve, not simply perfectionism
●          To enhance your own security, pride and self-esteem
●          To pursue new challenges that will lead to motivating challenges and to continue fighting
●          To seek well-being and feel full when you cross your own limits as a result of desired levels of endorphins and dopamine
●          To feel respected and admired in front of your social circle, parents, children, partner, friends ...
●          To be your own rival
What do I do if I get nervous before a Competition?
You must stop interpreting the competition as a threat, think that you have enough resources to fight and to face the situation.
Whenever we fear something, our own nervous system reacts with an anxiety response ( sensation to a greater or lesser extent than any competitor experiences at the finish line ), this sensation affects us both physically and psychologically, making us vulnerable and defenseless. it is about learning to manage it and use it to our advantage.
Feelings in front of a Competition:
●          Sweating
●          Muscle seizure
●          Shortness of breath
●          Chest pressure
●          Intestinal problems
●          Difficulty sleeping the night before
●          ... and a long etcetera of symptoms
What is clear is that you should never spoil a long year of training, planning and sacrifice for not knowing how to effectively manage an emotion, in this case the fear of the unknown, the fear of losing, the fear of not being at height, the fear that any circumstance stands in our way towards the goal. The only solution is that you learn to manage it efficiently today and that you can overcome the blockage and anxiety that it produces.
How do i do it?
1.         Plan your Goal and Visualize it
Write (literally) your own story to establish a contract with your brain. As Sie7e singer David Rodríguez says " If it fits in your mind, it fits in your world ". You need to plan your workouts beforehand using logic and being guided if necessary by a professional. You must visualize and write down your process and your situation on the day of the competition, anticipate the feelings you can experience and think of strategiesto beat them. This anticipation is nothing other than the same recommendation that teachers and educators follow on a daily basis in their classrooms with young children, who find it difficult to understand and react to an avalanche of different stimuli. Everything for which you make an adequate anticipation will lead you to be prepared for their subsequent confrontation.
Logically, the result that you will get when crossing the finish line is not just your question, it will depend on other people, it is beyond your possibilities and anyone's to determine in which position you are going to be, unfortunately we are not fortune tellers, therefore, not we can realistically determine a goal like “win”, it is all very well that this is our goal, but if we are trying to overcome the anxiety generated by placing ourselves on the starting line, this objective is the least realistic, the only thing it will do is to generate more responsibility and greater burden, the opposite of what we are seeking to feel at that time.
There are (few) people who use this type of determining objectives and fortunately they serve them, but most do not have the same luck, so if we want to avoid frustration and prevent higher levels of anxiety, we must establish realistic objectives , those of us who are capable of achieving without dying in the attempt, for example, it would be good to quantify them in a more general way, “ my goal is to be in the top 100, 50 or 10”Depending on your own physical condition. You must think in terms of your own performance, how far you can go and what you can do to achieve your goal. In your own script you will also write everything you can do during your participation in the competition, for example, in the case of a marathon, you can plan the speed you will carry, the hydration you will take, the technique you will use, even the clothes you will wear .
You will only have to train your mind to face the situation, apart from being what you eat you are also what you think, and you only have two options which are fully confronted with each other,
Either you think in terms of Success or you do it in terms of Failure
2.         Concentrate on the Present moment
When you are in front of the starting line, keep full attention on the situation you are living and dedicate all your concentration to it, it will not be positive to start your competition with the fatigued brain and believe me that it is exhausted just like the muscles of the body do and Its consequences can really be even worse, so stay focused on the present moment you are living. If you have never read Nick Nolte's book " The Pacific War " this would be a good time, it would help you to understand well and internalize the situation that I am presenting to you. At this point we will separate the result of the objective from our mind and we will focus on being aware of the performance and decisions that we will make throughout thecompetition.
The brain is not capable of attending to two activities at the same time offering the same performance, if you think about the mistakes made in your past, " sorry for the vulgar expression " you screw it up, if you only think about what you want to achieve you are placing yourself in your future and shit again, the result of doing this will lead you to cultivate high levels of anxiety and even to abandon the sport or activity for which you are preparing in the near future. Focus on enjoying, living and planning your present, being clear about your goal but leaving it in a drawer of your brain, you can turn to it when your motivation decline or when you feel that your strength is weak but not before, he is there and you fight to satisfy him, he will not move but it is you who will have to make it happen.
3.         You must learn to suffer and be willing to do it
Although it seems strange to you, this  is also trained. Think that any competition requires more demands than a workout, you are going to experience completely different sensations, you are going to give it your all and for this you must prepare yourself. The typical statements such as " I can not ... I am going fatal time ... what happens to me ... so I will never arrive ... the judges will see that I have failed ... it is sure wrong ... it is quite a horror ... but what the hell am I doing here … ”The result of this will be that you focus on the bad thing that you are having and possibly it will lead to bad results and to accumulate a certain resentment towards the activity or sport that you are carrying out. You are going to have hard times, they are going to be part of your success, value them, prepare for them and face them.
You must reinforce yourself mentally to intelligently face all these sensations, really competing is something more than constantly telling yourself that if you can, it is finding your best version, competing at the best level and being able to bear really strong physical and psychological loads, such as pain and suffering or negative feelings to which sooner or later you will say good morning.
The path to success begins with ...
1.         Pursue your own improvement
2.         Don't whip yourself if something goes wrong
3.         Control your anxiety and activation levels
4.         Enjoy the new sensations and use them to grow
5.         Work on your confidence and your own safety
You can never let your dreams fade due to a feeling of confusion, tension or fear caused by a certain disturbing situation, remember that the only person who can leave you on the road is you.

Follow Through
Or, “If I had the money, I would put it where my mouth is.”
In my last post, I described the difficult set of circumstances that led me to the necessary time-out on Timestamp for a few weeks, as well as my difficult decision to throw in the towel and search for a stable income in tandem with my art efforts. In a nutshell, there is a lot of stress in this household between unstable finances, unsorted mental illness, unfounded child custody cases, and all the other normal stuff that 20-somethings deal with these days. And, as usual, I have done a poor job finding the time for self-care in order to handle it. That’s why I’ve vowed to make it a bigger priority to write on a daily basis, largely using my Timestamp blog to keep myself accountable, though I will not realistically be able to create a full post every single day. For me this will be an exercise in acknowledging and discussing mental health issues that I have previously avoided for fear of social stigma. For you, this may just be the inner dialogue of a traumatized introvert, but I hope that it would one day find community. While I am nervous to work through these issues in a public forum on my business page, I also have to stand by the fact that I am Timestamp, and my mentality/ mental health is a huge part of what and how I create.
So here’s my start.
Took time to reduce my anxiety before getting out of bed? Check. Been in contact with my therapist this morning? Check. Working on processing my situation through writing? The time has come.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two posts ago I was talking a big game about the methods that I use to reduce some of my anxiety and increase mindfulness when I’m continually working from home like an isolated loser for 14 hour days. Although I have a lot more to deal with than anxiety, I’ve recently found out, these have been instrumental tools in keeping my head on straight when there’s no one around to lean on.
As much as I love my alone time and find energy in working in my own environment without interruption, I also have to say that it can be really demoralizing and lonely to be manically working at home all day every day. With all of my best friends and family still residing in Illinois, the only human I have around here is my significant other, who has a very demanding schedule outside of the house (thank god, because having another party in my space 24/7 is also not the solution for me).
Without social support when I’m starting to feel the tickles of anxiety growing, I realized early on in my small business adventure that I needed to find other instruments to lean on when I’m losing my grip. These are the ways I’ve reliably used to contend with my loneliness and generalized anxiety:
Podcasts  - You know how when you haven’t seen or spoken to another human being in about two days, and you start to talk to yourself, your dog, and your guinea pig instead? Yeah, right, me either… but if I did, I would recommend that you switch to hearing other people talk on these podcasts.  I spend most of my days continually streaming podcasts in the background, whether I’m writing for my day job or hand painting a new piece of furniture. They are amazingly comforting, not only for reducing the uncomfortable silence in an empty house and stimulating your brain with subtle conversation, but also for addressing mental health and philosophical life issues if you tune into the right programs. Here are my favorites:
On Being – Good god, I wish I could have Krista Tippett in my life, calmly narrating my existence and bringing up the most thoughtful, perspective-changing questions known to man. This program is life-changing. My only regret is that it took me so long to find On Being, when I have been individually questioning the meaning of it all for 20 years at this point. Every episode is 53 minutes long edited, and about 120 minutes long unedited, if you want to hear both versions of the conversation like some people do… cough. The premise is simple, ex-journalist, theologian, and author Krista Tippett has long, organic conversations with the most interesting humans you never knew you needed to have in your life. The conversations tackle issues of mindfulness, psychology, individual spirituality, and philosophy, with a dabbling of current science for good measure. The interviewees come from hugely diverse backgrounds, some of which you might expect, including a prevalence of poets and social change leaders. However, you won’t get off that easy; often the guests are quite unexpected for a left-wing public radio show, and can be challenging to approach with an open mind such as the episodes with Glenn Beck or a panel of pro-life pastors. No matter the topic, every episode is thoroughly surprising and grounding. I gain such a sense of peace and perspective from the wisdom of these enormously influential people. I can’t say enough about the grace and depth of the conversations, or the appreciation I’ve developed for thoughtful pauses before profound answers. I want to be Krista Tippett when I grow up.
The Mindset Zone – This one is fairly self-explanatory, although the host’s voice is anything but. Ana Melikian, a Psychologist and business coach with the most unique “generally European” accent I’ve ever heard, leads these short episodes that tackle the issue of mental health in small business. Finding this podcast felt like a message from the heavens, and it came during a time when I was fully losing my battle with business anxiety earlier this year. Each episode tackles a specific issue or guest relating to the mental health management that must take place to open a new business. I’ll be honest when I say that the programs are a bit hit or miss for me. Occasionally they can be redundant or feel like advertisements for her business coaching techniques, but often they are full of the exact insight I need to hear. Is it normal to be completely overwhelmed and disgruntled about the vast number of hats you must wear in small business? Yes. Does everyone doubt what they’re doing and feel the drive to retreat to a safer option? Sure do. Is failure a necessary event to be accepted and learned from, rather than feared? Yep. The messages of the episodes are simple, eye opening, and unifying. As is always the case with mental health, just hearing that what I’ve been experiencing is normal was a huge relief; in fact, this podcast is what inspired me to begin writing more openly about the issue of mental health management in my own small business. It is a topical and useful journey, with plenty of unintended laughs at Ana’s pronunciations. Sorry Ana.
Sex and Other Human Activities – Oh man, do I love the Cave Comedy Radio/Last Podcast Network. These guys are meant to be my best friends and my best friends’ best friends; they just don’t know it yet. We’re mildly obsessed, and diligently plotting ways to prove our worth as the next generation of SOHA hosts, since these two have taken a break from the program to work on other projects. Anyways, this particular show features two of my favorite CCR/LPN hosts, Jackie Zebrowski and Marcus Parks, who openly and honestly discuss their battles with mental illness, as well as answering listener questions on the same topics. Both hosts are fantastically hilarious in my exact style of humor, and very transparent when it comes to the relationship, work, and general life difficulties that come hand in hand with attempting to better understand and control your own psychology. They are incredibly relational, and speak honestly about their successes as well as failures in sorting out depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, self-doubt, and anger. Though there are plenty of laughs, it’s also clear that Jackie and Marcus care a great deal about the topics, and there are many difficult episodes that took considerable courage to record. Again, there is enormous power in this program simply from hearing that you aren’t alone in your battles. Listening to the accounts from two people of similar age and mentality, working through their issues and preaching the importance of self-kindness and professional care feels like receiving guiding support from my best friends, on-demand.  I could talk endlessly about my love for all the CCR/LPN guys, but I’ll hold off for an inevitable road trip entry.
Walks – An oldie but a goodie, exercise is a crucial way to work through my emotions and ground myself when my stomach starts to tighten up in a knot. A huge part of mindfulness is observing the breath and bodily sensations, and for me the best free version of this is going on a brisk hike. There’s nothing like getting out into uninterrupted nature and connecting with my feet in order to let go of the rushing thoughts in my head. I gain so much peace from a long solo walk, where I can connect with my worries and allow myself the space to process them. This is a tool I’ve used for many years, though back in Illinois it was fulfilled through walking to and from work each day, long walks around campus on every break, and usually ending with a late evening walk either alone or with my sidekick Jacq. When my dog Jake came into my life, he became a huge motivator to keep up the practice even during dark times when I had trouble executing this style of self-care. Nowadays, the truly amazing part is our proximity to beautiful and dynamic hiking trails in Stone Mountain, which far outweigh the residential streets I used to stomp down in Urbana, Illinois when it comes to peace-bringing. The difficult part, however, is managing my anxiety long enough just to get to the park. Any deviation or distraction from my work each day carries an enormous stress load with it, so the act of going out and reducing my anxiety actually inspires a mountain of distress in the hours leading up to my departure. I do my best to remind myself that this is a critical tool for mindfulness and I need to address my issues rather than working as a means of distraction, but it’s always difficult to permit myself time for self-care. Acknowledging these difficulties in my personality, I’ve come up with three strategies to reduce the likelihood of ditching my park plans;
Arrange with a friend to chat during the walk. When there is a sense of duty, i.e. a promise I made to someone else, I have no problem following through with my plans. I’ve found it helpful, and socially positive, to talk on the phone with my friend during her lunch break as I get my exercise in. This gives me a set time to take a break from my work, prepare, and get to the park on time with a party holding me accountable. I can disappoint myself, but I can’t disappoint other people.
Leverage “shitty work days” to promote breaks at the park. There are days when I work exclusively on Timestamp projects, and I’m happy as a clam from sunup to sundown. Then there are days when I have to write and edit endless articles to pay the bills. These are the days that my brain struggles the most. Without working towards something I’m passionate about, my mind tends to get restless and wander. I have a hard time keeping my head in the game, and instead it can begin to slide into some hefty doom and gloom thinking. Sometimes, there are so many external thoughts flying around in there that I can’t concentrate on my arduous and boring task at hand any longer. I begin to lose my focus, become exhausted, and slip into a depressive state. That’s when it’s time to allow myself the luxury of a walk, in order to reset and reapproach the rest of the work day with newfound productivity.
Set a nighttime walk intention. I’ve found that there is far less anxiety and guilt associated with taking my walk at night, rather than in the middle of my day. This allows me to get all the work done that simply can’t wait before I attempt to pull myself away from the project. If, for whatever reason, I haven’t made as much progress as I wanted to by the time evening falls, I still have less guilt giving myself some space when it’s already 8pm. Of course, I’ve considered switching this to morning walks so I could calm down before my work day even started, but have yet to make this attempt, as I currently use my early mornings to get unwanted writing jobs out of the way.
Social support – We all know, your support network is the most important tool in living with mental illness. That being said, for someone with a tendency to avoid and isolate when they need help the most, it can be a huge challenge to even go and seek social support. As a verified introvert, masochist, and devotee to the idea that my existence is a burden to everyone I know, I generally do the wrong thing in these situations. In the past two or three months, I’ve made a big push to get over my fear of bothering people, and attempt to contact folks when I’m having a hard time. It can be my best friend, my therapist, or even my mother if I’m feeling desperate enough. 9 times out of 10, it results in an honest and caring conversation that helps me greatly in working through whatever problem is at hand, and I have a lasting boost of self-esteem from the interaction. Even if we can’t resolve the issue, just having the reassurance that my friends and family haven’t forgotten about me and still care about my well-being from hundreds of miles away relieves many of my greatest fears. As a bonafied one-man island in bad times, my saving graces for forcing social support on myself are:
My outgoing and extroverted boyfriend. Even though he may not always understand why I’m so crippled by imaginary worries, he’ll always listen to them. At times he can do the unthinkable and convince me to do better with his own social and optimistic nature. He always wants to spend time together and to get out of the house, and this social insistence can be a gift.
My best friends who have their own battles and insights on mental health. Not only do I have a best friend who works professionally as a clinical therapist, but most of the people I surround myself with have similar struggles. We understand one another and feel less judgement talking about the things we deal with, besides the fact that their own needs for support often keep me accountable for their sake, if not my own.
My group messages with friends back home. Reaching out and talking is hard when you feel like your life is empty and depressing. If there’s no news to share, it’s hard to call someone up just to chat. That’s why these stupid facebook messenger groups are such a helpful tool for feeling social without the pressure of actually being social. The continual chatter amongst friends helps me to feel connected to my old crew on a daily basis, even when I personally don’t feel like I have anything to talk about.
Creativity - Clearly, this one rings true for me. As I’ve stated earlier, I can work on my artistic projects from dawn til dusk without feeling an inkling of anxiety or mental duress. I realize that not everyone is as enthusiastic about making things as I am, but I believe there is some real power in accessing this part of the brain. Maybe doodling, instagramming, or zen coloring is more your style - there are plenty of options. Something about the process of thinking creatively seems to be incompatible with the pathways that cause my stress and anxiety, so one can’t happen in tandem with the other. This is great when I’m in a creative mindset and naturally fend off looming anxiety; conversely it’s very difficult when I’m in a negative mindset and battling to reach a place of creativity. Here are the ways I’ve found to get past the mental gymnastics, and get into the artistic zone:
Having some sort of a schedule. As I mentioned a bit earlier, I’ve realized that it makes sense for me to get my writing assignments completed in the morning. This allows me to set aside the stress of looming busy work, earn myself a sense of achievement, and open my mind to other tasks I want to complete. Now, I don’t rigidly schedule my writing work because just as there are times I feel creative and times I do not, there are also times I feel like writing and times I simply can’t. Maybe my head hurts too badly to look at the computer screen, or maybe I’m not feeling the creative juices flowing that particular time of that particular day. That’s when flexibility is important, so I can find fulfillment in accomplishing the tasks that best mesh with my mental state, and I can achieve the most productive day possible.
Setting my intentions for the day one on the night before. Sometimes, it’s anxiety inducing just to wake up in the morning and look at my long list of business to-do’s. Should I be wrapping up this big desk, working on my newest set of prints, posting to Instagram, writing a blog, fixing my website bugs, posting new items to Etsy, checking on my sales around town, etc, etc, etc. It never ends. If I can just work through these options in the evening beforehand, coming up with a general list of priorities to focus on, I can hit the ground running the next day. Sounds simple, but usually it’s easier to finish up a long day of work and push the topic to the backburner for the rest of the night, than to begin planning the next busy day.
Writing. I huge problem I must overcome regularly is my brain’s penchant for repetitive thinking. If something is on my mind, I have a difficult time pushing it aside to focus on new tasks. My mind cycles through what’s bothering me again and again, bringing up the same physical reactions each time the sentiment goes passing through. This is why writing has so much power for me. Putting these concerns down on paper or keyboard is an excellent release from the merry-go-round of worry. It allows me to process exactly what I’m feeling about the issue, to solidify the issue as something that I am acknowledging, and to form a plan on how to deal with it. After that, I can move on from the problem with greater ease, and apply all that brain energy to another item.
```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
All I’m meaning to say here is, it can be difficult to allow yourself the “luxury” of caring for yourself and your mental health, especially when your focus is always on taking care of business. There’s nothing to stop you from putting your own physical and emotional needs aside when things are stressful, at the times when you need self-care the most. I’m no expert in the field of personal kindness, but I increasingly recognize that it’s important to improve these skills as necessary tools for a functional life. It’s certainly something that takes practice and a mindful outlook to make some of these changes reality, but the continued exercise only cements the positive effects further each time. I’ll be working on and expanding these practices for the rest of my life. I can only hope that my self-compassion continues to grow, and I can help another restless soul or two just by sharing how difficult it can feel to tackle these small measures, but how relieving it feels afterwards.
And remember, you’re alright kid, I don’t care what other people say.

I Love ADD, and So Should You
Below is my last paper written for my College Composition class, an argument paper about ADD (obviously). I’ve only recently come to embrace it, and see that it’s not as bad as some may think, so I wrote about it! It’s a bit long, but if you’re up for the read, I’d appreciate it.
As a young boy, I sat in my classroom while listening half-heartedly to the teacher drone on about photosynthesis or something. Next thing I know, something outside would catch my eye – and my attention. After a while came the dreaded question: “Travis, do you know the answer?” The teacher had noticed, and of course, I had no idea what the question even was; I’d been staring out the window for the past ten minutes watching leaves blow across the grass. The cause was my Attention Deficit Disorder, or ADD, and I’ve been dealing with it for as long as I can remember. So many times, I’ve considered myself stupid, been called lazy, and felt genuinely like I don’t belong in society because of a standard I don’t fit into. I’m an oddly shaped puzzle piece; a circle trying to fit into a square hole. However, people with ADD and ADHD (attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, henceforth also simply called ADD) are much more than this so-called disorder. Although living with ADD is very difficult at times, there are advantages such as creativity, compassion, sense of humor, high IQ in some cases, as well as many others; people who struggle with the disorder can be genuinely successful by finding coping strategies, and using their ability to hyper-focus on their passions.
So, what is ADD, anyway? Definitions have changed many times, but over-all it still has some negative connotations. People tend to think of ADD only as a disorder that needs to be eradicated with medication and therapy; although these two interventions help, I do not believe they should be crutches. There are other methods, and my personal choice is to stay away from medication because I feel that it masks the true personality and brain construction that I naturally have and have come to value; when I did take medication as a child, it made me feel and act like an entirely different person. ADD should be more often considered as a way the brain is wired; sure, these brains are different, but not abnormal. Lynn Weiss, PhD, defines it, borrowing from and enhancing another definition: “ADD is simply a style of brain construction.” ADDers (people with ADD) are non-linear thinkers trying to fit into a predominantly linear society, which tends to make us believe that if we can’t fit its idea of normal, then we are no good. Weiss also says people with ADD can choose to live their lives thinking that there’s something inherently wrong with them, or instead “…see yourself as a representative of diversity: ‘I am the way I was made, and that’s just fine.’” Not only should the ADD brain-construct be considered unique rather than abnormal, the positive qualities it produces should be celebrated!
The disadvantages of ADD are what most people see: inability to focus, unable to sit still, and forgetfulness; going off school grades, some may even think a child is unintelligent, which is very rarely the case. However, there are wonderful advantages that go hand-in-hand with the ADD brain-build. Erin Brodwin, a writer for Business Insider, writes in her article “4 Surprising Benefits of Having ADHD” that “being incapable of zeroing in on a single thing might also help you pick up on changes in your surroundings that others may not notice.” In addition to this heightened perception, people with ADD have an ability to think more creatively, which is a positive attribute when it comes to problem-solving during work. A slide show on the ADDitude website shows numerous other perks, which include generosity, compassion, persistence, and ingenuity. It also states that “People with ADHD are often highly intelligent and creative…”
ADDers are generally very intelligent, but they are often forced to learn a certain way in public schools, which can lead to frustration and low self-esteem. Dr. Stephen A. Ferrari, Ph.D., says in his short article “High I.Q. Typical in Children with ADD”:
“ADD is characterized by an inability to pay attention, and thus attention is widely spread out and stimulated by many different things. This high degree of stimulation is the very thing that creates intelligence in infants. While this difficulty in paying attention is not desirable as a person grows older and needs to focus and control themselves, it does usually tend to make that individual very intelligent.”
He goes on to say that these individuals have trouble articulating that intelligence, which leads to three problems: wasting potential, a society that does not recognize the value of people with ADD because of its intolerance of poor academic and career performance, and children with low self-esteem. These words resonate to me personally; for three years, I worked in an office where I had to sit at a desk all day, and although I was told on multiple occasions by my superior that he believed me to be highly intelligent, I struggled to perform well and ultimately could not thrive in that environment because I was not passionate about the work.
Therefore, one must find a profession that does not stifle the positive traits of his or her ADD, and there are several options. The previously stated ability to hyper-focus should be fully utilized. In other words, individuals with ADD should find what they are passionate about and excel at, and focus all their energy into that career field. For most of us, our strengths are in the arts and/or physically stimulating activities. According to Weiss, there is no right or wrong career to pursue as an ADDer, but she does warn against being in a job that isn’t a good fit; for example: my office job experience. In Weiss’ book Attention Deficit Disorder in Adults, she explains that “having it certainly doesn’t mean you have a mental condition or are disordered. You will appear disabled, however, if you’re placed in situations that do not fit your brainstyle.” Her book also categorizes ADD into three types and suggests jobs that may be well-suited for each one. The first is “outwardly expressed ADD,” which describes people who tend to express things more, and are generally outgoing. Jobs such as sales, retail, teaching, counseling, and other service work are suggested. Her second type is “inwardly directed ADD,” the type that many creative people have; naturally, artistic careers are great for this type. “Highly structured” is the last, which pertains to people who, while still perhaps creative, find they do well with structured career fields, such as the military, commercial piloting, or home building. I’ve found that I fall partially into this category, and I am pursuing a career in fire and rescue.
ADD doesn’t have to keep someone from achieving their dreams. Positively ADD by Catherine Corman and Edward M. Hallowell, M.D. shares success stories of people with ADD. Sharon Wohlmuth overcame the hard parts of having the disorder, even before she first found out, well into adulthood, that she had it. She struggled in school as a kid, and tried college as a young adult, but failed. Eventually she married and pursued art school full time, then eventually become a photojournalist with The Philadelphia Inquirer. Wohlmuth also had a book published that was on The New York Times best seller list for sixty-three weeks, peaking at number two! In Positively ADD, Wohlmuth says “Really understand what’s going on with your brain. That’s important because then you can ask for help and find your special talents.” Although she does take medication to do certain tasks, she does not use them when working on her photography, and advises that children don’t rely on medication alone. One more story of achievement is Karl V. Euler, V, who became a police officer and an emergency medical technician. At an early age, he also struggled in school, but once diagnosed with ADD, got medication and other help for it, learning how to deal with some of the negatives; he was also sent to a boarding school that was more willing to work with him. Kipp, as he was nicknamed, found that he actually did well in the police academy partially due to the skills he learned in order to cope. He says that when patrolling in his police cruiser, “something would catch my attention – something most people wouldn’t observe or hear. I’m constantly scanning. I think that’s a gift.” Corman states that Euler’s quick mind and physicality enable him to make the split-second decisions needed in his fields. Euler also stresses that no one should doubt what they can do because of their ADD, and I whole-heartedly agree. Anything an ADDer is interested in or has dreams of doing can absolutely be accomplished if the effort and passion is put forth.
People with ADD do have some setbacks to overcome: forgetfulness, disorganization, inattentiveness, to name a few. However, even without medication, these problems can be solved. Some tips given in John M. Grohol, PsyD’s short article “Coping Tips for Attention Deficit Disorder” may help the people dealing with these issues. If someone is forgetful in small daily tasks, such as making a quick phone call, he advises “Post notes to yourself to help remind yourself of things you need to do.” Finding the motivation to do large tasks can be daunting to ADDers. To make it seem less overwhelming, Grohol suggests that people break it down into smaller pieces, and then reward themselves when each piece is finished. This also helps with staying attentive: it may seem counter-productive, but I find that allowing myself to step away from a larger project for a few minutes helps to keep me focused when I go back to it. If a person has trouble keeping things organized, he or she should set smaller goals. If they need to organize a room, they should start with a specific part, like a desk or bookcase. Designating a storage place for things is also helpful, like an inbox for mail and bills. I also utilize a cork board to pin up papers such as library receipts so that I remember to take my books back on time. Time management can be another hard effort. In her book, Wiess suggests making detailed daily or weekly schedules. Everyone is different, though, and others may require different strategies, so it may take some trial and error, and a bit more research to see what works for each individual.
It’s hard adjusting to society’s “perfect fit,” and there are many things about ADD that do have negative impacts. For instance, if someone has hyperactivity, it may be hard to work with that person if they’re constantly needing to move around. Also, in a setting that is uninteresting to a person with ADD, it may be nearly impossible to get them to pay attention or succeed in a particular task. Impulsiveness can also be an issue. Employers don’t want an employee who can fly off the handle for no apparent reason, or is constantly behaving unpredictably. Lastly, unfortunately, ADDers do tend to be slightly forgetful and unorganized (okay, maybe more than slightly). That is why the people with these problems need some sort of coping strategy to manage them.
Again, the negative aspects of ADD can be overcome by using the suggested methods and more research. I want to remind fellow ADDers that we are amazing, unique individuals with positive qualities and the potential to do great things. We can create, we can love, we can overcome, and most importantly, we can succeed in whatever we have a passion for. ADD can be very valuable in the workplace if the employee is given the right tools and has a passion for the work. I would never want to give up having ADD, because I see my value and gifts that I can share with the world.

Namaste, Bitches: 10 Ways Yoga Changed My Life In A Year
Upon the first week of moving to LA, I wrote an organic yoga rap parody, “Namaste, Bitches,” to make light of the yoga world in which I found myself. By the end of my five months in LA, my friends joked that I had become my own parody because, in an unexpected turn of events, I fell in love with yoga after writing the rap. Now, yoga is a vital part of my daily routine.
My mind always runs in 100 different directions. I tend to either dwell on past moments and wonder what could have been, or have so many ideas for the future that the ideas paralyze me and I don’t end up getting anything done. I moved to LA after graduating from college and ending a relationship. I had lost a bit of myself and was reeling from the feeling of amputating someone out of my life.
I needed to escape my pangs of inadequacy and emptiness, which manifested into dark shadows over my spirit every morning. I went to my first yoga class in hopes of stilling my mind a bit. I viewed it as something to do once every month or two as a sort of physical and mental detox. During the first class, I was a little impatient as I kept falling out of postures while everyone stood fierce and focused around me. Even so, I left the class feeling more energized than when I walked in. I was hooked. I realized that yoga, while sometimes having a stigma as an obnoxious, main-streamed way of trying to be spiritual is, at its core, a very powerful tool that allows us to tap into our inner spiritual and physical potential. At my first yoga class,
I was given a yoga towel to roll over my mat. The words, “Every day, in every way, I am stronger,” were embroidered at the top of the towel. I now think of that phrase every morning when I wake up. Although the original yoga sutras were developed 2,000 years ago, many people don’t realize that, until 100 years ago, yoga was mainly about focusing on breath and meditation to escape worldly sensations and move closer to connecting one’s individual consciousness with the consciousness of the world, to move closer to nirvana.
The postures developed in yoga in recent centuries (the “asana” or physical practice of yoga is only one of the eight limbs of yoga) were designed to prepare the body to be able to sit in stillness for extended periods of time in meditation. Even as yoga has, in many places, morphed into a type of physical activity, I found that it has influenced my perspective of the type of person I want to be and how I live my life.
I recently got my 200-hour yoga teacher certification, not only to be able to share my love of yoga with others, but also to have a deeper understanding of the spiritual aspects and roots of yoga. I love the idea that in yoga, all the strength you need, you find within yourself. All the flexibility and space you create in each posture is also found within yourself. The more you open your heart (literally and figuratively), the more open you are to receiving and giving love and energy to those around you. Here are some of my biggest takeaways from yoga, thus far:
1. Release to receive In yoga postures, you often breathe into the pain or tension of a pose. While this can initially cause discomfort, the more you lean into the pose head on, the easier the pose becomes in the long run. It creates more space, it releases tension in that area of the body, and it makes you feel as if you let something go. In life, sometimes we are unable to love to our fullest because we hold on to something that no longer serves us or brings us happiness. While it is hard to let this person or thing go, once we do, we realize that in doing so, we become able to receive more love and energy from other aspects of our lives. A quote I often associate with this is, “The shell must break before the bird can fly.”
2. You have to love yourself if you expect others to love you As my yoga teacher said to us, “We are all the connections and completions to our own existence.” We are often hard on ourselves, placing so many mental and physical demands on our bodies and then beating ourselves up for not eating well or not being productive enough or saying the wrong thing to the wrong person at the wrong time. Yoga helped me see that the only life over which I have direct control is my own. The person I spend the most time with is myself. I should be kind to myself and love myself in order to be able to love other people to the best of my ability. Similarly, I will never know if what I do impresses other people. I should first aim to impress myself by pushing myself to places I didn’t think I could go. When you feel confident in how you spend your time and how you treat yourself, your relationships with other people will fall into place, too.
3. All the space, flexibility and strength you need is inside of you, waiting to be used When making excuses about why they could never do yoga, people often say “I’m not flexible enough” or “I could never do a headstand, I would be the worst person in the class.” Six months ago, I could also barely touch my toes, and now, I have my splits. Even if that wasn’t the case, yoga isn’t about being “good enough” or naturally flexible or mastering the awesome-looking poses; it is just about being committed to showing up every day and challenging your body to the best of YOUR ability.
4. Trust your intuition In the past, I used to go against my gut feeling and instead do what I thought I should do or what I thought others wanted me to do. The more I did yoga, the more I started to see how to better harmonize what I felt in my gut with my thoughts and actions. Usually, in the yogic sense, trusting my intuition would mean knowing that I would feel better if I got out of bed and did yoga rather than lay there, letting old memories seep into my new morning. In a broader sense, trusting my intuition now means letting someone go if he or she makes me unhappy or being completely honest with someone in a difficult situation.
5. Disconnect to reconnect We can often get lost on the screens, constantly checking our phones for updates with a subconscious desire to feel needed by and connected with others. Having at least one hour a day when I turn my phone off and focus on the physical reminds me that life is what we feel, not emails or Facebook statuses suspended in an intangible cyber-space.
6. Live life’s transitions gracefully so you’re not knocked off your center-point In learning a new balancing pose or in being thrown into a completely new environment, it is natural to want to hold back or not fully commit as to not risk falling or being rejected. Doing balancing poses reminds me that I can’t just shoot to the “full expression” of the pose on day one, but it will come gradually if I slowly and gracefully push myself each day. It also reminds me that sometimes, the only way to learn how to hold a posture comes after countless times of falling from trying to commit fully. Falling out of a posture is only a problem if you don’t try to get back into it again. What I love most of all about balancing poses, however, is the hyper-focus one must have to succeed. This intense focus permits no stray thought to enter the mind, which is a welcome time of stillness for a place where lingering memories and new ideas are usually frantically swirling.
7. If someone gives you negative vibes, it’s because s/he takes energy from you This goes back to loving yourself in point two. If you know your self-worth, you won’t let in negative vibes from someone else because you will be too consumed with putting out and receiving positive vibes that are appreciated and multiplied by others around you.
8. Enjoy the physical body to the fullest, diving into the ocean of consciousness Little things, like focusing on deep breaths throughout class reminds me that I often take for granted the fact that I have a functioning body with functioning senses that allow me to do physical activities and experience physical sensations.
9. You find your strength in being vulnerable When learning a new pose, it is natural to fall or feel uncomfortable. Some of the most vulnerable poses, such as hip and heart openers, like wheel or half pigeon, allow us to feel more open than ever before. Similarly, being vulnerable with what you want — ie: not being afraid of someone’s rejection or not being afraid of failing — allows you the maximum potential for success. Also, in the sentiment of love, you should never regret being vulnerable and letting people know that you care about them. Even if they don’t return the feeling, you’ll never wonder “what if?” Feeling vulnerable in yoga and in life should be viewed as a strength, not a weakness.
10. We are all bound to each other by energetic threads The energy we put out not only affects us, but also those around us. It is important to think about how our actions and vibes can alter those of others. I often find that when I am around someone who has great energy, it rubs off on me. I also find that if I am thinking about someone I love, I will get a message from him or her or something will pop up that reminds me of him or her. Who knows if it is just coincidence, but it never hurts to think good thoughts and send good energy. You might have heard of the expression said at the end of yoga classes, “Namaste.” In Sanskrit, it roughly means, “I bow to the divine in you.” The idea is that the goodness that is in me is also somewhere within you. Rather than seeing each other’s flaws, we should strive to find the connecting thread of goodness and of humanity that ties all of us together.
As I moved from LA to England to start graduate school, everything from the weather to my friend group, to what I focus on has changed. One thing that keeps me grounded, aligned in what I believe to be my truest sense of self, is yoga. I do it in the morning, every day, before I check my phone and before I leave my room. Not only has yoga brought me closer to my new friends (as I now hold classes for my course mates!), but it helps me figure out how the person
I am inside can be best projected to the outside to connect with other people. It also reminds me to slow down and experience every sensation, with all of my senses. Most importantly, it helps me strip away my ego (a constant work in progress), need for approval and fear of missing out (FOMO!). It also helps me feel more connected to myself and those around me in a world where it is often too easy to feel alone in the bustle and stress of our daily lives.
