unrelated but how do you as a writer like REALLY get in ur element and focus, because im pretty sure i have adhd and it makes it hard to focus and everything i try besides classical music (sometimes) doesnt work

and my second question how do you get people to view your work/participate in it, i've been writing for 3 years in the fandom and a few people notice, and i know im supposed 2 be writing just for myself and i am, but i wanted it to kind of be a whole family thing like everyone being excited for updates and its a whole thing... idk if maybe no one cares anymore or no one really knows me

thank you for reaching out and asking me this! I'm going to try my hardest to answer the best that I can (I thought I'd answer it before I left so I could help <3)

Getting focused and into the element

So I have ADHD as well and I know that getting focused can be tricky. Things that I do/have to help keep me focused are:

Writing Sprints - I sprint in Discord Servers with my friends and we all keep each other motivated and encourage each other

Discord Servers - So I'm in some really wonderful servers where we're all happy to cheer each other on writing wise (I'm going to link them in another part)

Inspiration- So, for most of my fics, I have a playlist that suits the theme and I try my hardest to make moodboards for them to get the feel of the fic. I'll also plan dialogue or even the layouts of flats/houses so I feel inspired to write about them.

I asked some friends in my Discord Server for help as well and this was their responss:

The first thing I'd like to say here is that you shouldn't define your work by statistics/interactions (a bit like what you said). Having said that, there are a few ways to try and increase your circle:

Make mutuals - There are some amazing people on this site who go out of their way to support each other. Try and get to know new people and interact with them.

Join Discord Servers - The servers I am currently in are amazing servers. My two main ones are @1d-library (ran by @larrysballetslippers and @larry-hiatus ) and @new-writers-discord (ran by me, @red-pandaaa @larrysballetslippers @hellolovers13 @babyhoneyheslt and @rockstarlwt28 ). 1D Library is a place for readers and writers to hangout, discuss fics, writing or day to day life. The New Writers Discord is a recent Discord server where we have New Writers, Writers and Mentors who write all types of stories (fics, original works, etc.). We have sprinting parties, workshops and are always there to help if need be.

Tagging Systems - this post contains all the tracked 1D tags where certain accounts will reblog posts with those tags. This is extremely useful for people who make things in the fandom.

Have fun - Try and enjoy yourself in the process. Interact with new people and make friends, create things for yourself as well as others.

hay alice how are you today? as girl with C.P, i found the Christopher's escape a little bit unrealistic. obviously he is more independent than i am and he has more capabilities than i do. but still, why go this far? why not just do the exact same conversation but over the phone or him demanding to go to buck. and eddie would overheard them or something like that. i mean it's kinda nice that writters wanted chris to be a typical angry kid who needed a safe place but in rl it's not like that :)

Thank you for this ask. I don’t know enough about CP and Chris’ specific levels of it to comment on what is realistic for him, I leave that to others who are more knowledgeable than me. What I can talk about is why the show needed this for plot reasons - to give us a really emotional scene. That doesn’t work as well over the phone and it also doesn’t allow for a cathartic hug at the end. And Chris demanding to go to Buck’s would likely mean Eddie would insist the two of them stay home and talk or would have changed the nature of that scene, with Eddie there, too. But the show clearly wanted to give us specifically a Buck & Chris scene. So the show needed for the running away to happen as it did, whether it’s realistic or not. I hope this helps! xoxox

I hope you add that scene with the airport worker telling his friend that 'while he gave him a hard time about his job, he actually really admires it and that its inspiring how much he loves his job and that he doesnt give up' (something like that) in ur this week's Buddie meta post.

Hi! I haven’t seen the second half of season 2 or season 3 yet, so I don’t really know Ana’s backstory or her relationship with Chris and Eddie (other than she was his teacher). So I’m wondering if you thought it was weird that Ana said “I love you” to Chris when Eddie invited her over at the end of 4x08? It struck me as kind of strange, but again, I’m trying to fill in some blanks! Thanks!!!

It’s def too soon and out of nowhere and weird. But for a real life teacher/educator? I can say that I turned to work with kids because I honestly adore kids so much! I love them right away simply for being. IDK how to explain it ‘coz it’s not about logic, it’s just built into who I am. That being said, I still wouldn’t say that to a kid out of the blue. And probably not even after a long time of knowing them, because boundaries. But everything else with Ana dn Eddie has been rushed and poorly built up to, so why not this, too? just to add to your meta: i think it's very telling that eddie is the one to say that the man on the roof has "cornered" himself and that he has "one bad decision left in him still" (or something to that degree). something about the way he's rushed in this relationship with ana& is forcing that everyone get along makes me feel like we should analogize the man on the roof to eddie himself. eddie is putting himself in a corner and he's forcing his hand and he's going to need a push (like roof man)

Nonnie, I love this comparison, thank you for it and I’m with you! Mainly because it does feel like Eddie is rushing into this (not just the writing). He’s only been on a few dates with Ana. He could have been honest with Chris about dating her without bringing her over under that hat. Or any hat, TBH. I didn’t get the idea behind her offering to help Chris with his math if she’s apparently not that good at teaching it? It felt like an excuse for her to push for Eddie to tell Chris without appearing pushy. She did at least later offer to slow down, but we saw there again that Eddie was rushing into this, because he was way too quick to say no without even considering what’s the right thing to do for his son. Apologies if this has been asked before, I haven't had the chance to go through all of your meta backlog yet. I'm new to Buddie, but it (and your meta) bring me joy. I was wondering, in the hypothetical event Buddie became canon, who do you think would kiss who first? I think it would be Buck, since he's a leap first kind of person when he wants something and I don't think that's ever going to change and I also think Eddie needs something big like that to realize Buck is more than a friend.

@ea-stofnar Hi there! :D I have to tell you that you’re one of my fave new followers! Thank you for the ask, TBH I can’t remember if it’s been asked before, I *think* it hasn’t been. It’s such a great question and I honestly think I can make a good case for either of them. Because I think you’re right, Buck is the more open and daring one among those two, so it fits his personality overall more. At the same time, I think he’s also the one who’s more afraid of rejection, so I can also see him pining, wanting, coming close to doing it, but stopping at a love confession without kissing Eddie. Whether he does kiss Eddie first or not, because we tend to see Eddie as the more closed off and reserved of them, I think it would be the moment when he kisses Buck (whether it’s the first kiss or a reciprocated kiss) when the whole thing will be truly on. ;) I hope this helps? Hi Nonnie! And you’re asking a hard question, thank you for being so daring yourself. ;D I think they have more of a chance than Ana and Eddie, that’s for sure. Right now, I don’t think that’s what the show has in mind for Taylor. I believe the show has a long run ahead and whoever will be Buck’s endgame will either have to be a regular or someone who comes in relatively late into the show. I suspect for now, she’s meant to be temporary, but they’re probably still testing her character out. If they see it works and it’s popular, they might change plans for her and make her a more long term character. If that happens, then she might have a chance of becoming Buck’s endgame. But I don’t think they’re there yet in turning her into a regular or his endgame, at present, I think she’s just a part of Buck’s journey for this season. ok i know that it doesnt and shouldnt matter, but how do you just.. not care about the number of hits and kudos ur fics will get? 😭 im always like “no its fine im creating this for me” but deep down i want people to read it too cause i pour so much time, love, and energy into it 😭 am i being selfish

first and foremost, my anonymous friend, i want to tell you loud & clear--you are NOT being selfish in the slightest. there is truth & wisdom to the adage of “write for yourself,” yes, but we need to acknowledge that none of us are writing only for ourselves. if that were the case, we wouldn’t be publishing our works at all. we’d just keep them in a document & never show them to anyone else. by posting, we are saying, at some level, that we want to share our works with others. so there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting recognition and appreciation for your writing. it doesn’t make you selfish or greedy in the slightest.

but that being said, the truth of the matter is that as authors, we have very little control over the amount of kudos & hits we receive. i mean, sure, there are some basic things we can do to help get our fics read. we can put time & effort into writing an engaging summary & tags. proofread our works thoroughly to avoid grammar & spelling errors. promote our fics on social media to broaden their reach. i suppose someone could even make a point of deliberately writing pairings & tropes that are popular within the fandom if they really wanted. but past those basic practices, whether a fic gets lots of hits or kudos is pretty much out of our control. that comes down to the broader opinion and whims of the fandom and a frankly absurd amount of luck. and there��s no quicker way to make yourself stressed and miserable than by trying to control something that’s ultimately out of your hands.

so we have these two competing facts to try to reconcile. first, that positive feedback on our work is rewarding, validating, and fulfilling. but second, that the popularity of our writing is largely beyond our control. so what do we do with this paradox? we focus on the quality of feedback, not the quantity.

what do i mean by this? more or less, that kudos and hits just measure how broadly a fic was read. they don’t measure how deeply it was loved. and while no, you can’t force people to love your fics, you can do things that help you connect with others through your work. making fandom friends ensures that you have a built-in support system who will encourage & validate your writing. finding betas or cheer-readers to leave comments on your fics as you work guarantees you’ll get detailed feedback. joining writing discords or other sub-communities can help you develop meaningful, supportive relationships with other fandom creators. replying thoughtfully to the comments you receive will, over time, often encourage people to leave deeper, more detailed comments on your work & can often lead to friendships and connections. in short, no, you can’t really control whether a fic ends up really popular within a fandom, but you can take steps to build a community that supports and uplifts you & your writing, which will often make you feel even more appreciated & valued than having 50,000 hits on a fic.

build community. form friendships. find people willing to give you positive feedback on your writing. nurture and grow an encouraging creative community. write for yourself, yes, but also write for your friends and supporters. we may not be able to control our stats, but we can control the community we build. xo

38. What does your writing process look like? How chaotic is it on a scale of 1 (very tame) to 10 (you can’t handle this kind of chaos)?

HHHHHHH 8??? I jump around between like 5 wips at all times, so im always thinking about something new, and often times i never plan out my story, beyond vague notes! So its all in my mind trying to remember all the plot points i have layed out in a story, or scrambling for my discord chat logs about the Fic I Was Talking about. which is fun fhgjhkjl

im crying guys. this isn’t even all of them.

43. Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.

sometimes i get very sweet and super long comments on fics, and sometimes i actually cry at some of them. When i first noticed a theme across the comments - something that a lot of ppl picked up on - i just. got really really excited and i kinda teared up because like!!! they were all commenting on my style of writing, and not just what included in fic, which made me happy because that meant i had figured out my style of writing and im just. happy about that.

specifically, tho one time someone said in a comment that they heard about my fic through discord and i just. was so fucking happy because ppl talked!!! about my fic!!!

and also just. sometimes thheres theorizing in esom comments which makes me happy.

ANYWAY. i think we as a society should reblog fics more because literally - most of the time, the long works of fics - 2k, 5k, 10k, 40k word counts - do not get rb’d. small things - tiny things, like drabbles and stuff - DO get rbd. which is fanatastic! but also, please rb the bigger fics - writers put thier blood and sweat into works and every rb is just super fucking nice??? i look in the tags of everysingle rb to see what ppl say, if they say anything (which is fine if they don’t) but seriously - a few days ago, someone rb’d my fic. this fic was a bit older, no one reading it much, but suddenly i got like 5 likes on it out of the blue.

ok ! so im not gonna talk too much abt family stuff bc yuno and i are doing the collab of the century here and art takes time people ! JSBDJBWDJW but so u get a good idea...i will write a little abt it lets get it

so the kwons were two of the biggest faces in hollywood ( and tbh they are still considered icons / hollywood royalty no matter how old they get they stay #Relevant ) think bradgelina ! literally everyone knows who the kwons if u dont u probably live under a rock /:

their parents are very into the fame thing...so when it came to their kids ( nari and wolfe ) they SUPER pushed the famous life onto them, really expecting both of them to be just as obsessed and enamored by the public. idk if u guys ever say that vid of gigi and bella hadid before they were huge were their mom was pressuring them both to get into modeling and to stay skinny and to be stars etc....it was kinda like that !

so narissa, being the first born, really just internalized that shit...like imagine being told ever since u were a baby that fame and status and ur last name are wildly important and not being able to remember a time when u werent being watched by cameras / a third party ( the public ) bc that was her life ! nari has....no experience as to what life is like without cameras and without having to create this image of herself that ppl are gonna be into

obviously that’s NOT normal....and it had it’s toll on her /: as a kid she grew up so fast like u know those kids that seem so mature and wise for their age ? that was nari. she always had two versions of herself: inside nari vs outside nari. she was so good at being good just bc she knew what stuff to express and what stuff to keep inside ( spoiler alert: most of it was kept in x )

she is still very much desperate to please her parents despite it all /: i feel like for a long time she kinda excepted and agreed that fame is everything ( hence why shes known for using her last name to get her places ) but shes starting to realize just how FUCKED it all is and just how much it’s messed her up so stay tuned for more fun !

ok so career stuff ! nari started off as a child model bc she was um super cute and super good at knowing what to do / not freaking out in front of cameras <3 but she was always obsessed with actors ! she used to sit in front of the tv for hours legit study and memorize ppls mannerisms and various movie lines.. she was literally always just quoting random lines / imitating various actors so often her parents were like ok word go act !

she landed her first role at 12 and it was a pretty huge role as a lead chara in a mini television series that revolved around a cast of kids ( think stranger things but not plot wise just how some of the mains were kids ) with zero acting experience before hand ... so it was pretty clear to the media nari got the spot bc she was a kwon ! there was a bunch of controversy around the show before it came out but once it was released...there was no denying nari had talent

after that it was just a whirlwind of acting doors opening up for her. everyone wanted nari bc of her last name and all the attention that came from it, not to mention every director wanted to be The One that helped narissa kwon become one of the most famous actresses of the 21st century. most of the time she was getting cast for selfish reasons but nari never realized it /: she was just happy to be acting bc it really was like therapy for her to become different ppl

flash forward to age 15 when narissa was finally diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and was prescribed meds to help ! it was actually a director from a movie she was working on that suggested to her parents nari might be struggling after witnessing her have a panic attack on set. not wanting a scandal, her parents agreed it was best to get her “help” which included pills and weekly therapy !

so nari actually didnt mind it too much tbh she HAD been struggling for a while she just assumed her anxiety was normal and just like something all famous ppl were dealing with but that wasnt the case. she was hesitant to open up to her therapist just bc she was still obsessed with this idea of inside nari vs outside nari, and she was very scared to cross that line so it took....years of sessions to build up that trust

as she got older though and as she got more famous, everyone just assumed she was better. she was more famous and loved by the day, she had become a chanel ambassador ( thank u jennie x ), her interviews on youtube always brought in record views, she’d started in plenty of movies critics agreed would become cult classics, her social medias were nearing kardashian level in terms of followers: everything was on track....

....except nari had actually never been more unstable. she had become so dependent on her meds she couldnt go anywhere or talk to anyone without popping a few in. all the watching eyes were starting to make her paranoid, not to mention the pressure from her parents ( who couldn’t be happier with nari being so famous ) was at its all time high. she had been nominated for an oscar at 21 and everyone was expecting her to win...and then she didnt

narissa kwon famously fainted at the 2018 oscars after it was announced she had lost the award. her actual fainting wasnt caught on camera or televised, but it WAS witnessed by some of the most relevant names and faces in hollywood who were in that room. the scandal took the media by storm, the hashtag #getwellnarissa trending for over 42 hours until a statement was released she had fainted bc of dehydration and other undisclosed causes and that she was okay & currently taking it easy at home surrounded by family

in reality it was the abuse of her medication as well as all the stress, but when your last name is kwon manipulating the press is as simple as making the right phone call. unfortunately for nari and her parents, the article about the brat pack came out a week later, and there was no manipulating that source /:

for narissa, it was all a wake up call. she decided to go off her anxiety meds altogether. after falling out with the brat pack she spent that year trying to figure out who she was separate from her fame and her last name. despite some offers from a few casting directors ( surprisingly some people still wanted her despite the scandals bc she was still a kwon, after all ) narissa rejected every role except one in a coming of age indie movie that explores womanhood and mental health as well as strained relationships with mothers. the movie is set to release sometime mid august hehe (~:

she agreed to come to milan to reunite with the brat pack bc she’s still searching for herself ! nari figures the people who quite literally grew up with her might give her some answers......not to mention there is still a part of her who is desperate to reclaim the image and status she had before everything fell apart </3

PERSONALITY/TIDBITS

narissa is....complicated to say the least. growing up in front of the cameras and in a family who prioritized fame and outside opinions of you as the most important thing, she is quite literally desperate for praise and approval. because she legit has no idea what parts of her are real and what parts of her she’s created for her public persona, she often looks for understanding in others!! shes very very good at analyzing people and understanding people in the hopes that its gonna make her better at analyzing herself, but to no avail.

libra sun capricorn moon !! THIS is super accurate and telling if u wanna read but i kinda just summarized it in the last bullet

she is such a perfectionist with everything she does and a bit of a control freak in the sense that if she’s not the one doing something, she doesnt have faith whatever that is will be able to live up to her unrealistic standards. directors are often concerted with nari bc whenever she gets big roles.....she is so hard on herself, often asking for take after take bc she monitors every little thing abt her expression or her movements. she’s often left frustrated and disappointed with herself bc again, her standards are SUPER unrealistic ):

she’s relatively sweet!! growing up with the brat pack they probably knew her as the life of the party, very bubbly, confident, and very easy to have fun with as long as you’re being tolerable. however, she can get kind of opinionated at times so it’s very hard for you to gain her trust and respect back if you lose it. she’s also prone to random mood swings / periods of isolation, but whenever she returns its with a big smile and a soft voice assuring you everything is okay

very good at lying and deceiving ppl but she hardly ever does it on purpose ( unless her publicists asks her too ). she’s carried this persona / public image of herself curated for consumption from others for so long, sometimes she has no idea when she’s being sincere or if she’s just convincing herself she’s being sincere. most of the time she only deceives other people about herself. she can come across as kind of elusive because of this ( think daisy from gatsby’s perspective ) but it’s not on purpose. she just legit has no true sense of self isnt that sexy?

speaking of sex. last but most important fact about narissa is that she loves her brother wolfe more than anything in this world so messing with him is the only way nari is bound to 100% hate you. she can bully him all she wants ( ex. starting very real rumors he IS in fact a furry ) but no one else is aloud to actually be mean to him or she will kill you

also very random but i had a hc that when she was 6 and her pet cat jinx died she caused enough fuss at home her parents actually made it a national holiday in about thirteen different states. the anniversary of this death is december 4th and yes . the brat pack better mourn jinx with nari every year......

post got a little lengthy so im putting a cut! nothing serious just talking abt things i wanna do

im out of school for the semester on dec 7, and ive got a little over a month off. i really wanna make more art! i want to do some traditional stuff and i want to actually finish some projects and maybe take a few commissions...

i guess im inspired by one of my coworkers, she does pet portraits (acrylic paint on small ish canvasses) .. idk how she does it with work and school, but tbf one portrait only takes her an hour or two. shes taken art classes, so its unrealistic for me to think i could work at her pace... but i wish i could

i also have a couple cosplays i wanna do for ala in january, i have a lot of my materials already... actually for all art-related things ive gotten a lot of materials that i havent used/started on yet x_x some of my projects have been "in the works" for... mm.. 5 years (i have all the things to make satyr legs, started collecting materials in high school and never started to actually make em)

another thing i gotta do is organize my room and set up the spare room to be like a workshop area. i havent cleaned my room in forever and i really need to. theres just piles of trash in there honestly. it also makes it feel cramped and stuffy, and its hard to get around some furniture. not good for the psyche. the spare room is my sisters old room turned guest room turned hopefully workshop room. theres good natural lighting (unlike mine lol) and a lot of space. i think itd be good to try and confine my hobbies to that room, cus usually when i work on projects i take over the living room/kitchen lol

and i want to pick up the oboe again, im really afraid that ive forgotten how to play cus its been like 3 yrs. i really do like to play instruments but.... im really bad abt actually doing it. its kind of like school, i like reading and learning new things,but i have terrible self discipline so i rarely do it unless someones making me. (ie, class times/appointments)

theres also online stuff.. i wanna clean up my blog and rewrite some pages and go through and tag/untag things (if youve been following me you can probably tell im very meticulous w tagging. everythings gotta be filed in some category . i tag some content warning stuff but...its mostly for me.) i have side blogs that are sitting around that i wanna set up, or i wanna revamp other side blogs that ive been starting to use again. or i need to update the info. im on mobile most of the time, so im thinking when i get a new laptop ill be on there more often.

thats another thing too... getting a new laptop i need to transfer all my info and set up and install and make sure things are compatible ... its gonna be a whole ordeal bc i dont have anything backed up on my computer /: i also gotta find new install links for winrar and painttool sai, otherwise ill have to find new programs. then i have to buy a new tablet cus mines 8 yrs old and really worn out and kind of falling apart

ooohhhjghghgh... so many things to do and not enough time. i still have work! and school planning (even if im not in classes)! and theres stuff i gotta figure out sooner than later - health things and also getting my goddamn drivers license . i wanna get that before i go back to norcal at the very latest.

theres also. things happening this/next week. since the semesters ending, i have one more test (online, due tonight at midnight) and a couple writing assignments, then for finals i have 2 tests and 3 papers (3 pg, 6 pg, and 7pg) to write. SO!! i gotta work on those!! starting tomorrow if you catch me on here bust my ass! i get easily distracted and id greatly appreciate ur help by keeping me accountable

how would you suggest someone start posting art on tumblr? I’ve always wanted an art blog but I’m thinking about just making it a side blog because I’m kinda self conscious about it ;-;

i dont know cuz... ive never had an art only blog but i'd say make it a new main blog so you can message people and have just an easier time following and replying and stuff... its easier to get a grip on if its ur main blog too, i think.also heres some general art blog tips i often hear from people, and i think they sound good!•network... not in a mean or bad way but start following artists. i dont mean "befriend artists to get exposure from them" but join artist circles and discussions, zines and maybe discords! •tag things well and a lot•remember that if you are an original artist, its going to be much harder to get somewhere than for a fanartist •promote yourself if youve got other social media! if u got friends on social media, dont be afraid to ask ur friends to reblog ur art or to promote u. and remember, if it doesnt work out at once, it doesnt mean it always will be that way or that ur art is bad. u could have art like any great master and go unnoticed because fanart and funny comics get more notes.

WHO IS THE MUSE:

Kavik is the Alpha of the leopard pack in Adraya. He’s been responsible for his younger brother since age 17 and has forgotten how to have fun (if he even knew before that, who knows). Kavik is an actual Grumpy Cat who uses sarcasm a lot and often rolls his eyes. He also smirks pretty often and is a big smartass but is deep down a big softie.

He works hard and does a great job of being an Alpha, though he still lowkey deep down worries about if he’s good enough. Feelings are awkward for him but he’s fine with talking about other peoples ones and with giving advice.

Points of interest:

Pack. He makes sure to visit each member of his pack every month or so to keep up with them all and let them see him as being available and not above them

Visitors. He also visits any non-pack shifters in his city/territory and the ones that are visiting/passing through/temporary.

Kids/cubs. He’s really good with kids but is lowkey scared of having any himself. He helps out with the cubs regularly.

Touches. He doesn’t like being touched and will only accept it in certain places from pack members. And some places are off limits even for pack members, only Chesh, or Charlotte (in their verse) are allowed (eg. his neck). He’s better/more comfortable with giving touch than receiving it, and even tho hes awkward, he’ll use touch to comfort someone or show affection.

Leopard. Similar to the touch thing, Kavik doesn’t let just anyone see his cat side. His coat is also darker than other leopards, closer to being a panther really.
