Ace Trappola
He’s so cute help meeee. He would actually be really nice for once and buy you whatever you want from the food stands. But he wants a bite of whatever you’re having.
You have to make sure to stay close to him or else you two might get separated in the crowd.
Those basketball shooting games— he’s a pro at those! He’s not the best at shooting since he mainly plays defense but he can easily win you something after a few tries.
He also probably talked the game vendor into letting him have an extra turn (he is so sneaky).
He always gives you the prizes he earns and you’re kinda left carrying around a bunch of stuff.
He is really impatient and gets a VIP pass to cut the line. He doesn’t matter how expensive it is, he doesn’t wanna wait for too long.
He’s not one for the Ferris wheel, it kinda spooks him when it starts rocking around.
Ace is either the one forcing you to ride all the scary tall rides, or you’re the one forcing him to ride them.
“Don’t be scared, you can even hold my hand if you want!”
He’s the one holding your hand.
Deuce Spade
He has never actually been to an amusement park. Maybe he has before but as a little boy.
You’re mostly leading him around since he literally has no idea what he could or should do. Bringing him to the games is fun but a big mistake.
Do not take him to one of those games where the clown taunts you. You know what’ll happen…
He keeps on going for games that always end up with you failing. Like the climbing rope game.
He’s determined to win you at least one thing.
You will have to drag him onto those roller coasters because he is deathly afraid of going on those. He will never let go of your hand and there are tears in his eyes when he gets off.
He prefers going on the spinning teacup type rides or just ones where it’s generally chill.
He is so excited to go on the ferris wheel. It’s the first thing he sees and he’s like “oh my god I wanna go on that”
He’s always seen it on TV shows and he wants to see the whole park from up there.
Might smooch at the top too
“I’ve never been on one of these before. Hopefully it doesn’t fall…”
Please don’t shake the capsule or else he will actually start screaming and crying.
Jack Howl
He’s gone to an amusement park but not one as big as this. The ones he went to were local seasonal carnivals in his town.
He’s confused at first and just follows you at first but soon he starts finding some activities.
Once he finds himself at the game section, he’s gonna be there for a while. He plays every game and what do ya know— he wins all the ones that involve strength.
He plays the rope climbing game not knowing it’s rigged against you. When he falls he’s like “have I not trained enough?” He gets banned from the game because he keeps on playing too much.
He probably gets a huge crowd around him on other games because he’s just that good. He’s left with a lot of prizes and he’s not sure what to do with them.
Jack is actually not very fond of roller coasters. Admittedly, he’s a bit scared of them. He doesn’t show it but he’s just in a state of shock after the rides.
“Here you can have this. I-I didn’t win it for you. Just take it already.”
Epel Felmier
He’s simply amazed. He’s been to a carnival before but this is just amazing. He wants to try all the foods. If they’re caramel apples, he’s probably gonna criticize it, his apples are way better! He’s running all over the place because he wants to see everything.
He knows most of the games are rigged but will attempt all of them regardless. He’s motivated but after a while starts to get upset. He is really determined to win.
Eventually he does and he realizes he doesn’t want the prize offered and just gives it to you.
When he gets tired of the games, he wants to ride all the tall loopy rollercoasters. He is a bit scared but riding those would make him a real man.
He takes you with him and you have never seen him that happy before. If you grab his hand, he’s gonna feel so good about himself.
He’s boasting about it after.
“If ya get scared, jus’ grab my arm.” He’s so smug about it.
Sebek Zigvolt
He doesn’t wanna be there. He acts like he’s being forced and someone is dragging him by the neck.
You have to lead him around for a while and once something grabs his attention, he’s hooked. You kinda have to force him to try the food. Buy him cotton candy and he’s begrudgingly gobbling it up.
Once you bring him to the games, he’s not as miserable. He may or may not rage when he loses a game but he has a lot of motivation.
He thinks all the prizes are ridiculous until somebody says “Maybe Malleus would like that” and then he’s blowing his entire life savings on winning it.
He doesn’t realize the games are rigged but eventually realized after a few failed attempts.
Sebek isn’t really interested in the roller coasters. You have to challenge him or threaten him to make him go on one.
“Sebek go on that ride with me!”
“It’s a waste of time. Go ask someone else.”
“Oh okay. Oh Malleus~?”
“That’s too dangerous for the Young Master!!”
That’s the only way you’ll get him to go with you. He will be almost stoned faced the entire time though but only because he doesn’t wanna show he’s actually having fun.
At the end there’s a slight look of disappointment that it ended.

Caught - Vinny Mauro Request
Above is the request and below is the story! Thank you to @motionlessindoubt and @tearfallpixie for helping me by providing your input as I worked on this one, and thank you for the request!
There is another Vinny request coming, A chris request and a Rick request on its way! I’m not sure if I’ll get much posted the next week because it’s both my birthday and our wedding anniversary so I’ll be busy but I will try :) thank you for reading!
PS sorry if the formatting is funky, I had to do this on my phone because we still don’t have WiFi and I know tumblr mobile can be a bitch for formatting sometimes…. Enjoy!!
“Think that I can win you that stuffed animal I see you eyeing?” Vinny asks you with a crooked smile gracing his face, his hand moving to point at it with the hand you are currently holding.
“I don’t know, it’s basketball so I feel like you might be able to. You don’t have to, we all know that these games are rigged Vin,” you answer with a giggle, watching his face as he turns to look at you with a frown.
“Are you doubting my skills here, woman? Now I have to, come on,” he drags you over towards the carnival game with a laugh.
He knows that these games are made difficult, he knows that he probably won’t win you the big animal he noticed you eyeing, but he also noticed that you have been really relaxed tonight, that you are having fun and that is exactly what you need. He knows how stressed you have been with work and your family right now, so when he heard there was a carnival coming to town he knew he had to drag you and let your inner child out, help you have fun. As his boyfriend he feels like it is his duty to help you with things like this.
He pays the man before looking towards you first. “Can I have a good luck kiss?”
You roll your eyes and quickly give him a short peck, not wanting to do much else being in a public space with a bunch of kids, but that was enough to make him happy.
“Thank you babe,” he says softly before turning to take his first shot.
Somehow he made the first one, and then next thing you know he made the second basket. By now he is on his last one and you are watching him with a smile on your face, one that he can tell is genuine.
“One more good luck kiss baby, please?” He asks you sweetly, which you happily give him. Amazed he is doing as well as he has, because not many people stand a chance at any of these games.
When he sinks in his final shot and wins the game he turns and looks at you with a smirk on his face. “Told you that you are my good luck charm.”
You blush, glancing at your feet for a moment while Vinny tells the guy the prize that he wants, thrusting the stuffed owl in your hands when it was handed to him before the two of you walk away towards the next activity that you both had your eyes on.
“Thank you Vin,” you say softly, a little embarrassed but also really happy that you have something. When he leaves in a couple weeks for the next tour it’ll be a good reminder of your boyfriend when you miss him, which is inevitable to happen.
“You’re welcome, all that we have left that we mentioned wanting to do is the ferris wheel. Do you want to go take our ride on it before we leave?” He asks you, both of you slowly walking towards it.
“Sure, and thank you for tonight. I really needed this date Vin, I have had a blast.” You say, continuing to walk with him. Your hand laced in his while your other one holds the stuffy to your chest.
“I know you did, that is why I chose something like this. Sometimes you just need some fun, we all do. I know you’ve been stuck in your head lately,” he admits, both of you getting in line for the final ride of the night.
While you wait a group of a couple girls walk up towards the two of you, one of them wearing a motionless shirt, before she asks you already know what she is going to ask and you let go of Vinny’s hand, backing away a little bit. The two of you have been together for almost a year now but have been very careful to not out yourselves publicly. You both appreciate your privacy and being able to feel unpressured in your relationship so you have done your best to keep quiet. Doing this is so you hope that she doesn’t notice you and ask too many questions.
“Hi Vinny, I’m sorry to interrupt you but can we get a picture with you, we are big fans,” one of the girls say, a big smile on her face as she glances at the two of you.
He looks at you for a moment and when you nod, letting him know that you are okay with this he agrees, saying that you would be willing to take it for them so everyone could be in it, getting you thanks from several of the group. Glad that nobody is asking the dreaded question that you know is probably coming.
“Not to sound rude, but are you his girlfriend or something? The two of you are really cute together by the way, and thank you for taking our picture,” one of the girls asked, watching you closely to gauge your reaction.
Before you can answer Vinny does, “Oh, she’s nobody. we’re just old friends that are catching up. Anyway, it was nice meeting you,” he responds, ending the conversation so that they walk away from the two of you. Wanting to end it before things are said that he shouldn’t, before people spread the news that the two of you have done well at keeping private.
The two of you wind up at the front of the line, sitting in your seat on the ride as it begins to slowly move up. Taking in the sights and sounds of the carnival now that it is dark, but you never regrab his hand, honestly you keep a little bit of a distance between the two of you which has him confused but he doesn’t want to ask you about it. He doesn’t want to ruin the night, and doesn’t realize that what he has already said has ruined your mood.
When you reach the top and it stops for a moment he looks towards you, leaning in to give you a quick kiss and that is when he realizes based on how you didn’t really respond back to him that something has upset you, that he needs to fix whatever is going on.
“Y/N, I’m sorry that we got interrupted on our date. I didn’t expect that and I should have just said no to taking the photo with them,” he says gently, moving to grab your hand as the ride slowly begins to move again.
“That’s fine, I mean it is going to happen Vin,” you say with a sigh, trying not to share your annoyance with him but failing, he can tell.
“Then what is wrong? I can tell something is bothering you now, are you worried they are going to out us or something? I think they believed what I said,” he says, trying to get you to look at him but you don’t.
In fact the two of you are back on the ground now and you get off, starting to walk and let go of his hand in the process.
“Please, if I did something I want to know, I want to fix it,” he asks, walking beside you as you make your way back towards the parking lot, watching you concerned.
“Why do you care, I’m nobody to you,” you spit back, letting your anger finally come out in your words as you pull the passenger door open on the car when you finally make it to the car.
“That is what this is all about? I was just trying to cover for us, keep them from spreading shit around so that we can continue to enjoy our relationship without people butting in. You've seen all the shit the others get, the rude comments and hate. I don’t want that for you,” he says, now getting equally as annoyed. Both of you have said in the past that you want to keep things private, that you don’t want the fans involved in your relationship.
When you don’t respond he lets out a puff of air before putting the car in drive and making his way towards your apartment, reaching for your hand and getting upset when you won’t let him have it. You never reject his affection like this, it is clearly really bothering you.
“Do you want me to go public with us?” He asks you, wondering if that is what this is about, if you want him to tell people that you are together. He always thought that you didn’t want that, which is why he never posted anything about you on his public profiles, why only close friends and family know about your relationship.
“No, god Vincenzo, that is not what this is fucking about. It’s about how you made it clear that you are ashamed of me, that you don’t want anyone to know anything because I am nobody, I don’t mean anything to you. If it was that easy for you to say that I am nobody, then maybe that is how you actually feel,” you say, now sounding more upset and hurt than angry with him. He can hear the remorse in your voice, how your voice cracks slightly when you insinuate that maybe he actually feels that way about you.
“Babe, you know that you are important to me, that is why I tried not to bring any attention to us. I didn’t mean to make you feel like I don’t care about you because I do, I’m sorry.” He says softly, he suddenly feels guilty about his words, he didn’t think they would upset you this much.
“You realize this was going to happen eventually, I knew it would and that it would get out and I can live with that. But you brushed me off like I was nothing, just disposable and unneeded and that I am not okay with,” you say, now getting really upset.
He pulls into the parking lot of your apartment building and you turn to look at him, giving him a light kiss on the cheek before reaching for your door handle tonight. “I’ll be fine in the morning, good night Vin, I love you.”
Before he can respond you exit the car, not letting him have a chance to speak. He sits there watching you walk towards the building with tears on your face, debating if he should follow you but he decides that he should just give you your space and let you settle yourself down some. If he pushes you too much tonight he will just make things worse so he starts the drive home.
When he gets home he sends you a message saying goodnight, that he hopes you sleep well and that he loves you. He waits for a couple minutes and eventually it says that you have read it, but you never respond, letting him know that he hurt you more than what he realized.
The next morning he wakes up and sees that you have sent him the link to a tweet, no words included in it, just the link. When he checks it he sees that the girls from last night posted the photo of them with him but also posted one of the two of you kissing during the basketball game. Clearly you are still upset by the fact that you didn’t have any comments about the tweet, just the tweet. He clicks it and reads it.
“We met @chenzomauro at the fair last night! He was there with someone but when we asked about it he told us she was nobody, but she sure doesn’t seem like nobody…”
He sighs, seeing how many comments and reblogs are on it, people clearly are aware of it and it is making its rounds. Does he comment on it? Respond to the tweets? Or is it best he just ignores it and lets it run its course? What do you want him to do? He sends you a text asking you what you want him to do about this but you just tell him to do what he feels is best… so clearly you are still upset with him for what he said last night, but he is starting to understand why you are upset. He deserves it honestly, he can understand why it made you feel like he is ashamed of you.
He decides for now that he will just ignore it, let it blow over and hopefully during his scheduled stream later nobody brings it up. He doesn’t want to be forced to bring up the relationship, he knows the hate that many of the girlfriends have faced through the years and he is worried it’ll happen to you. Make you more insecure and aware of what people think of you when he knows you already struggle with that sometimes. He lets out a sigh and pulls up the website of the local flower shop, ordering you a bouquet to send to you at work with an apology on the card, hoping it’ll help your mood somewhat and make you feel better. You have always loved when he has sent them to you before.
He gets the stream all set up and waits for people to join and get settled, noticing right away that all the comments are about the photo, the two of you. He internally groans and tries to ignore it as the viewer numbers grow.
“Hullo?” He says into the mic. After the 5 second delay, only for a moment, the chat is filled with hellos and greetings from his fans but soon it filters back into questions about you. “Ok, guys. Today, we are going to play some wow, we’re going to jam to some music, it's going to be fun, it's going to be chill. Capeesh?” There was some excitement and he nodded, hoping the excitement was dying off.
“Perfect. Let me grab some food and I’ll be right with you.”
He stepped back from the computer and went to his kitchen to grab the baked potato that he had been cooking prior to streaming to see it nice and toasty. As he was plating it up he saw a picture of you sitting on the counter, one he had taken on one of the nights you stayed over. You had been sleeping so peacefully in his arms and he thought you looked adorable so he had snapped a couple of photos. It was at that moment he realizes he can’t just ignore it, he has to speak on what had happened and hope you don’t get upset. He grabbed his plate and went back to the office to see the twitch chat just jabbering on with each other.
“Okay, there is something I have to address. I will explain because everyone keeps asking and you guys won’t let it go until I do. Yes, I have a girlfriend, I have for about 9 months now. I lied last night because we have so far agreed to keep our relationship private, I figured saying she was nobody would help prevent it from spreading around online but I was wrong. I just wanted to respect her privacy which is why we haven’t come out with our relationship, I didn’t want her getting hurt from comments or anything, so while I lied it was to try and protect one of the people who is most important to me,” he answers, glancing away from the camera. “I messed up but I won't be lying about her anymore because I love her and you will just have to accept that. I won’t be talking any more on this topic.”
People keep flooding the chat with more questions, but he ignores them and starts playing his game that he intended to, not wanting to continue the conversation. He doesn’t need to out you any more than he already did, especially when he doesn’t know how much you want people to know about you. He gets distracted with his game, which is much needed because he doesn’t want to sit there and worry about you while you are at work and can’t talk to him. He just hopes when you find out that he did comment on it that you won’t be too upset with him, but he doesn’t want to dwell on that. A couple hours later he hears a knock on his door. and pauses the steam.
“One moment guys. I’ll be right back.” He mutes the mic to go and answer the door, shocked when he finds you standing on the other side, hoping that he will let you in.
“I-I heard about your stream, someone tweeted a clip of you talking about us and I wanted to say sorry. I should have understood that you didn’t mean that I was nobody but was just trying to hide us to protect me…. I’m sorry I overreacted.” You whisper. “And thank you for the flowers and for just … everything,” you say softly, glancing away from him nervously. Hoping that he isn’t too angry with you.
“Thank you for being patient with me, and I’m sorry I never should have said that you are nobody. Let me go close the stream down because it is still going and then we can order dinner or something and talk about all of this, how much we want to share,” he says, moving to let you step in his house. You instantly throw yourself into his arms. He wrapped his around you tightly, intending to never let you go again. He pulled back and went back to his office real quick unmuting the mic.
“Hey guys, my girl decided to stop by so I’m going to end early to spend some quality time with her. I’ll be back next week. Sorry to leave so abruptly.” He waited a few minutes to see the messages flood in with their goodbyes and supporting messages and smiled before clicking end.
He went back into the living room and found you curled in his favorite blanket on the couch and grinned. You were right where you were supposed to be and he wasn’t going to jeopardize that again. He sat down next to you and pulled you into his arms, kissing your temple softly, both of you curling into each other as you sat quietly, waiting for one of you to speak up first.
“First, I love you and second, at least now we don’t have to worry about hiding completely anymore,” you start to speak softly. “That is one less thing to stress over now I guess.”
“What are you okay with people knowing, am I allowed to post pictures when we are together? Or like mention you sometimes? Or would you rather I just not bring you up, because it is all what you are most comfortable with. I don’t care what they know or don’t know honestly,” Vinny says, moving a hand to play with a strand of your hair that has fallen out of your bun.
“I’m fine with you sharing some basic stuff, but for the most part I think I want to stay private. I don’t want them to find out about my job or anything but if you ever shared my first name, or like something I said or whatever and photos, I can be alright with that… if that makes any sense?” You shift yourself closer to him, resting your head in the crook of his neck like you always do when you crave his comfort.
“I get what you are saying, that sounds great to me. Now, what do you want to order for dinner?” He asks you, running a hand along your back in soothing circles to allow you to rest. Glad that you two are in a good place now, that you are back where you belong, with him.
Now if only his attempts to get you to move in with him will finally go over and you will agree.

Carnival?
College AU Trigun- Carnival HC’S!
In which you and the gang go to a carnival :)
Vash/reader elements <3
TAGS: @h4venpha @lune010 @vashfantasy @macncherries
And thank you @cowboylivio for the help on this one!
This isn’t in school or anything but I figured because it’s modern au and they’re college student age and probably going to college it fit lol
-Vash loves funnel cakes. Probably prefers the OG plain powdered sugar
-Wolfwood likes chocolate syrup and powdered sugar
-Milly swears by the overly sugary strawberry jam and whipped cream
-in a rare moment of agreement, Meryl and Knives agree that they are way too sugary but Vash will insist they have a bite (they cave) (it’s still too sugary)
-Vash will do ridiculous poses on the merry go round/carousel and would love it if anyone posed with him. What do you mean there’s only one person per horse? :( it makes for a bunch of cute photos tho!!
-Vash gets a large frozen iced lemonade and Wolfwood and Nai separately warn him to not chug it all just because it’s hot out because he will get a brain freeze (guess who got a brain freeze) (him.)
-Nai kinda lags behind everyone else. He was dragged along by Vash in hopes for him to have fun, but this truly isn’t his scene.
-For the carnival games, Vash is good at the shooting but with his luck he ends up with a faulty gun. Nai bargains with the vendor to give Vash his prize
-Wolfwood and Vash have a bit of a friendly competition on who can win the most
-Milly gets lost and they find her in the livestock barns somehow inside the goat pens because she made a new friend
-Meryl berated her immediately- she was so worried! Ugh! >:( (she’s worried for her girlfriend- I mean roommate)
-Knives is the only one who can tear them away from the animal barns and it takes so so long
-Meryl has a messenger bag and she’s kinda sorta prepared? To be fair, nobody got much beforehand notice before they were just on the road and at the carnival itself lol. She has sunscreen that has to be repeatedly borrowed
-Oo also firm believer that whenever someone wants to break a 20 or smth she’s the person they go to
-you know that one carnival ride? Where you’re locked in a cage whatever and get tossed around for a good minute? Yeah Wolfwood and Vash in one of those. It’s the funniest shit ever
-Vash gets super dizzy LMAO
-he almost vomits up all the sugary shit he’s eaten 😭
-pat his back and ask him if he’s ok pls
-he’ll look up at you with weary eyes and give a thumbs up, “yeah! Fine..” (and then proceed to almost bump into Wolfwood while walking LMAO)
-Milly insists on trying a bunch of carnival food, some of her taste is really questionable (who wants deep fried lard??) but she’s just curious and if you indulge her in trying some of the greasiest oiliest food you’ve ever seen she’ll be very happy
-Nah but fr if Milly ran a food acc/food vlog she’d get so much hype bro <33
-Imagine going on the carousel with Vash OMG
-mutual pining goes crazy here like you’re laughing and taking photos (like earlier)
-Milly, Meryl and Wolfwood went to go try more food and Knives excused himself for some fresh air away from the noise and lights (it was getting overwhelming for him)
-he helps you onto the pony, hand brushing yours as you both grab onto the pole and chuckle. The music starts to play, harmonious and oddly nostalgic, lights beautiful amidst the darkening sky
-you peek at him, his orange lenses oddly fitting into the bright lights around you both. He’s got this small smile that blooms into a gushy, dorky grin that makes you almost freeze- his sandy blonde hair sways with the movement of the pony as he chuckles, almost falling off as he’s caught staring at you too
-but of course the ride ends, and your good friend Vash + yourself make it back to the rest of the gang and eventually go home
-You both think about that moment more than you’d like to admit.

VALENTINES DAY WITH HQ BOYS
feat; hinata, akaashi, suna, bokuto, kita, sakusa, iwaizumi & yamaguchi
a/n; I literally had to rewrite a few of these from scratch because tumblr litr deleted them and duplicated other sections 😍🔥
masterlist & my inbox is open for chatting :)) !! tho I’ll also accept requests <3)
HINATA ೃ he’s already beaming when you open the door. ‘BABE!! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY’ he exclaims, resting the flowers on the top of the drawer before enveloping you in a hug. he drives you two to a carnival and you guys go on a bunch of rides, play games and when you guys get hungry, he skips over to the car to produce a picnic basket. He’s been through several trials and error, working hard and ignoring the concerned and dubious expressions of his sister and with input from his mom, he managed to put together a cute bento and freshly sliced fruits and snacks. he feeds you chocolate strawberries, and the contents are heart shaped and adorable like his smile.
SAKUSA ೃ he presents you with a heart shaped box, smiling down at you through his fringe as you gasp at the beautiful linked hearts ring he’d purchased for Valentine’s Day. when you eagerly put it in, he tilts his own hand at you. He’d got you two cute matching rings. he’s smiling like an idiot when you tell him how much you like it and he tried to play it off causally claiming that he just thought about you when passing by the jewelry store but in reality spent more than an hour looking at different rings, many that didn’t seem perfect enough for someone as special as you. He’ll take you to this classy looking bakery that makes amazing pastries and when the chilly, February winds hit you in the way there, he’ll wrap you up in his large, warm coat that you return to him on the way back because he’s shivering even with the layers.
AKAASHI ೃ he surprises you with breakfast in bed, and light butterfly kisses as he mumbles a deep “good morning, love” followed by a small yawn from getting up early to prepare things. he spends the rest of the day with you on a walk through the park, buying you and himself ice cream as you guys make your way over to the empty park benches to chat and eat. He wanted to spend a chill but fun day with you and there are still more surprises to come like the chocolate and the book you’ve had your eyes on wrapped up at home. he’s been looking forward to a day to just spoil you with love and so it was convenient when Valentine’s Day had come into view.
IWAIZUMI ೃ who half didn't care much about valentines day but thought carefully about what you would like. He decides on a romantic dinner, knocking on the door to pick you up. He'd brought a box of chocolates and another gift he made you promise to open for later. He was all dolled up, a fancy hanker chief sticking out of his breast pocket and his hair poking out less wildly with the help of minimal gel, offering you an arm with an amused smile on his face. When you guys returned home, you played the song he associated with you as he laid down across the sofa. He groaned as you laughed, making his way over to you in mock reluctance, wrapping his arms around your waist with a fond smile as you two began to slow dance in the kitchen
BOKUTO ೃ holds up a stuffed bear plush holding a heart accompanied by cheerful “happy Valentine’s Day, baby!!” the moment he walks in. he’ll take you out to this nearby fair and you guys watch performances, compete against each other and the way he beams at you when you present him with a dog plush holding a rose in between its mouth that you won makes you even prouder of the win and to make him happy. but not as proud as bokuto to show off how cool and cute his s/o is and the prize to kuroo and the boys. he manages to win you a huge oversized bear, which he carries for you, leaving you with three bears (him included) to handle with love and care.
KITA ೃ hid a love letter behind his back as he handed you a boquet of red, pink and purple roses, smiling down at you warmly. He'd brought with him some fresh flowers and some fruit and vegtables that he grew himself, picking out one flower with a beautiful bud and weaving it into your hair, murmuring a soft, 'happy valentines day, darling' as he planted a kiss at the crown of your head. he was originally planning on taking you out to dinner but after how busy and tired you were during these past few weeks, he decided to cook you dinner and a sweet home date. Later into the evening he offers to take you out for a night drive which you do, happy to be out of the house and to spend more time with him. And there was nothing that made him happier.
YAMAGUCHI ೃ decorated his living room in valentines day decor, a little too excited to give you the well done homemade chocolate he made for you. You couldn't help but smile at the gift. It was a throwback to the time several years ago where you had been looking forward to heading to his house after school to eat the left over batter only for him to hand you a fancy box of choclate with the chocolte he worked hard on inside. He ordered takeout as you made your way to the living room, smiling even wider when you noticed the prepared movie on his tv. It was the one you have been waiting to watch for a while. You guys settle on the couch and cuddle throughout the movie, as he smiles up at you when you play with his hair.
SUNA ೃ he shows up at your house with only those cute candy hearts, offering to feed them to you (because he’s annoying like that) and when you roll your eyes at him, he goes ‘just kidding, I’ll be right back.’ and when he returns you stand frozen in place at the bouquet of red roses in one arm and the large heart shaped photo collage, studded with lights around the perimeter, special moments you two have shared and photos you didn’t remember him taking if the two of you cover its surface. when he got closer, you noticed a few where you were smiling really big and a few of his huge amused smiles and caught in mid laughter. ‘cat got your tongue, babe?’ ‘I’m more surprised that you remembered the date, rinnie.’ he chuckles as you let him in, ‘I’d never forget Valentine’s Day, maybe your birthday but forgetting Valentine’s Day? that would be out of the question.’

Fair Festival Time!
As the summer months are coming to a close I thought it would be fun to do some Fair-specific MHA Headcanons as well as some Fair First Date Headcanons (GN Y/N)
First Dates are below the cut.
Headcanon WC: 433
First Dates WC: 1,541
Total WC: 1,974
. Mina and Denki buy the all-day rides wrist bands and are hitting up everything as many times as they possibly can and trying to bring as many friends along with them. Eijiro and Momo are the two most willing.
. Katsuki is really talented at just about any game that requires him to throw a ball of some kind. He's not in it for the prizes though, he'd win a 6ft tall teddy bear and hand it off to Ochaco without a second thought. All Katsuki wants is to watch the bottles or basket blow up.
. That being said, he gets A LOT of joy out of the dunk tank.
. Izuku is super patient with carnival games, he rules at any game where you have to memorize where things are. He brought home a bunch of goldfish that he won (gave most to Eri).
. Speaking of this adorable child! Eri just wants to try ALL THE FOOD! She walks hand in hand with Mirio and Tamaki to all of the food stalls and pointing to all the delicious treats she wants to try. They do keep an eye on her, they don't want her getting a tummy ache and ruining her fun.
. Shoto is instantly in love with frozen slushies. He wants one in every single flavor and he gets one in every single flavor! After trying them all he's decided that lemonade and orange are his favorites.
. Hanta tapes Mineta to the Zero Gravity ride when he catches him trying to be a little perv.
. Hanta then goes and checks out all the vendors with Toru, both buying some cute, locally made products.
. Circling back to games, Eijiro kills it at the strong man game. Gets giddy every time he hears that bell ring. Doesn't even need a prize.
. Mezo is really good at ring toss, even with his extra arms, he still throws them one at a time to get the most experience out of the game.
. Tsu and Koji spend a lot of time around the animals. While most of the animals tend to follow Koji around because of his quirk, Tsu has a small gathering of ducks around her at all times and she thinks they're adorable!
. Mina has gotten her face painted.
. Ochaco and Izuku got a caricature sketch done together and somehow they made Ochaco's cheeks more round and Izuku's hair more fluffy!
. Denki got lost in the funhouse, Tenya had to go get him out.
. Kyoka hangs out where the musical performances are nearly all day long. When Katsuki isn't being extra competitive, he usually joins her.
Fair First Date Headcanons
Featuring: Izuku, Katsuki, Denki, Hanta, Mina, and Eijiro
Warnings: Smooching
These are all pretty damn corny. I'm feeling sappy so this is what you get!
Izuku
. Izuku is all smiles, all day long with you.
. He wants to enjoy every minute of it so he will suggest you get to the fair early in the morning! He plans every part of the day, schedules times for snacks and when you should be indoors enjoying activities to beat the heat of the day.
. Makes sure you're putting on sunscreen throughout the day and staying hydrated! The last thing he wants is you getting heatstroke or something!
. He's not great at all the games but he still gives them all a try! Especially the ones you seem to enjoy.
. Ends up holding your hand when you get lost in a hall of mirrors. Nervously let's go once you're out but is very blushy when you grab for him again.
. Now, he had this day all planned out, so, when you're on the Ferris wheel at the end of the night and the fireworks begin just as you reach the top, you shouldn't have been surprised.
. He's holding your hand, brushing his thumb against yours when you both turn to say something to each other and your faces are just so close together.
. This time, he makes the move and kisses you.
. You two end up making out for nearly the entire show, a little startled when the Ferris Wheel starts moving again.
Katsuki
. You had to bug Katsuki pretty relentlessly to go to the fair. He didn't like the idea of the crowds and it was gonna be so damn hot but when you told him about all the games, how they were so difficult to actually win, he changed his tune real quick!
. You still compromised a bit though, waiting until the warmest part of the day passed.
. He made a b-line for the rows of brightly colored tents, holding onto your hand and pulling you along behind him.
. And, damn it, you'd been right. They weren't all easy to win! He eventually found a groove though, and learned he excelled at names that he had to throw things at.
. You had SO MANY stuffed animals by the end of the night!
. Fireworks started going off while you two found a picnic table to eat your dinner at with your massive collection of prizes.
. He'd popped a fried pepper into his mouth and you noticed him watch a little boy, struggling at a game nearby. He was sitting just so he could see the backs of the bottles and noticed they were rigged. There was no way a kid could knock them down, he didn't have the strength.
. Katsuki didn't say a word to you. He just got up and walked over to the kid. You couldn't hear their conversation but soon enough Katsuki was standing behind him and helping him throw the ball. You just barely saw sparks of his quirk propelling it forward.
. The bottles fell, the boy jumped up and down with a huge grin, accepting the massive snake plushie and hugging Katsuki's waist before he returned to you, again, not saying a word.
. You slipped into the seat beside him, kissing his cheek and telling him how sweet of a thing that was. There were grumbles of, "better not tell anyone..." Before he kissed you for the first time that night.
Denki
. Denki had no plan. He didn't even know a fair was happening until Hanta had said something about it but as soon as he did he knew he wanted to go, and he wanted to go with you!
. You got there shortly after opening, running for the ticket booth to purchase unlimited ride wristbands. And then set off!
. Hours. You spent hours riding every single ride there!
. It was only when you felt heat on your shoulders and saw the redness the sun had caused on Denki's cheeks that you thought you should maybe get out of the sun for a while.
. After filling up on food, you decided the funhouse would be a good way to stay cool! Wandering around the mazes and rooms, grabbing onto Denki as you fell into a ball pit. He didn't let you go after that.
. The sun was setting and you two were back at it with the rides! Lines are longer now than they were earlier in the day, leaving the two of you with more time to talk rather than just running around like two crazy people.
. It was after you got off the teacups. Your heads dizzy, laughing so hard your sides hurt, clinging onto one another so you could stay upright when Denki grabbed your face with both hands and kissed you smack on the lips.
. The kiss only lasted a couple seconds before you both needed air again. But, on the way to the Music Express, you both peppered each other with kisses, unable to contain yourselves.
Hanta
. He asked you a week ago if you'd like to join him, not really for the rides or anything like that, he was really interested in all the craft booths!
. You went at opening, grabbed some cold drinks, and started walking down the vendor's alley stopping at every stall and stand to admire the wares.
. You admired the way Hanta could strike up a conversation with anyone. His easy, laidback personality showing through as he gushed about leatherwork and delicious-smelling candles.
. Of course, you left with bags full of goodies!
. By the time you actually made it back around to the fair rides and attractions, your stomachs were screaming for food.
. You settled in to watch a few shows, chatting happily among yourselves until before you knew it the sun was beginning to dip.
. Finding a spot at a picnic table you were ready to watch the fireworks show but before they began, Hanta plopped a bag down in your lap, a sneaky little grin on his face.
. Inside, you found one of the candles you were in love with from earlier in the day but decided to save your money... well, two could play at that game. You dug around in your bag and handed him a small box. Inside was a necklace you'd seen him eyeing but passed up.
. Your thank you was in the form of a sweet kiss as the show began.
Mina
. Excitement buzzed through Mina all day long, the anticipation of going with you to the fair had her practically bouncing!
. While she was very eager, she also wanted to go later in the day. More people, more fun, that was her way of looking at it!
. You two were attached by the hand the moment you walked through the gate. Setting off for rides first, your heads bonking together on the tilt-a-whirl with a laugh.
. Next, she wanted to get her face painted and yours too! By the time it was done, Mina had elegant swirls of gold and red making her look like a proper Alien Queen and you had a mask designed of ornate patterns spirally over your nose and over your cheeks.
. You'd been splitting a funnel cake when pops of fireworks started exploding overhead. Stopping in the middle of the pathway to watch them.
. A few people muttered in annoyance but Mina was completely entranced, you pulled her off to the side, behind a few of the food vendors, so she could watch in peace.
. It didn't take you too long to turn your head skyward either.
. That was when Mina struck.
. The moment you were distracted, she grabbed hold of your cheeks, smudging the paint, and kissed you. The reflection was the fireworks in her eyes were as bright as her smile when you finally pulled away for air.
Eijiro
. The plan was to get there when the fair opened but you both took your sweet time, getting sidetracked with talking along the way meaning you actually arrived in the early afternoon.
. Not a problem, still left you with a ton of time!
. Eijiro let you lead the way, was your partner, rival, or cheering squad for whatever game you tried playing. But then he found the strong man game...
. It wasn't like you were surprised he could ring the bell but your eyes still went wide when he did. Grinning like he'd just taken down a group of villains all on his own when he presented you with a huge stuffed shark he'd been awarded.
. It was after you both scarfed down some food that you found a rock climbing wall and knew you had to tackle it! High up in the air, almost to the top, was when you lost your footing.
. Someone would have caught you, you both knew that but still, Eijiro's hand shot out and grabbed you first.
. After the minor scare, you found a spot in some grass to watch the fireworks that had started on the walkover. Laying back, the shark plush in your arms, your head on Eijiro's chest. You could hear his heart racing faster and faster.
. When you sat up to ask if he was okay, if he didn't like the fireworks, he just jolted forward and kissed you quickly. Not scared, just nervous. You assure him there was no need, kissing him again, before settling into his arms.

Series MASTERLIST
The day of the fair had finally arrived and you woke with more than a little excitement churning in your stomach. Multiple meetings at the community center had given you a chance to meet more of the town's population and you'd gained a deeper appreciation for them. Small towns afforded very few entertainments, which had resulted in some of the older kids, driven by boredom, getting into trouble. Minor things like graffiti and trespassing, but the community knew if they weren't careful that things could escalate. So, instead of making the kids feel judged or harshly reprimanded, the town was working towards better programs and facilities to keep them busy.
It was an unseasonably beautiful Autumn day, the kind that carried memories of Summer on the warm breeze. Knowing that cold and snow were just around the corner, these "second summers" made people act a little more recklessly and freely than they usually might. You had a feeling that the crowds tonight were going to be bigger and rowdier than anyone could have hoped for.
Jacquie had stopped by later to offer you a ride to town but you had just sent your baking with her, insisting that you wanted to enjoy the sunshine and bicycle in.
Once you'd entered the main square you were blown away by the effort from the town. Banners, balloons, streamers, and posters were everywhere. A stage for musical acts and a ticket booth had been built and donated by Hank's Hardware, food carts selling anything and everything you could deep-fry were scattered down every road. Carnival games had been set up in rows down multiple, closed-off, streets, as well as people setting up face-painting, balloon animals, and a smaller version of the Saturday Farmer's Market. The high school football field had even been converted to a tiny amusement park with a Ferris Wheel, carousel, and swing ride.
It was still early, and there was still a lot to do before the fair would be open, but the excitement was already palpable. After making sure your pies had been marked down for the auction, you beelined for the water gun race game that you and a lovely woman named Heather had been assigned to operate.
Too preoccupied with making sure you had the water tanks filled, the pumps were working, and your ticket box was in place you didn't notice how some of the other volunteers were acting strangely, making sidelong glances and meaningful head nods.
Nothing seemed amiss once Heather had joined you. In fact, you were getting along with her so well the two of you had already made plans to meet for coffee the next day.
Soon, the fair was in full swing. The games booths were a popular stop with families and you were having the time of your life cheering for every child who tried their hand at your game.
Eventually, there was a natural lull in the festivities as fair-goers drifted from the games towards the food and live entertainment. You were just suggesting making a quick snack run when Heather's phone rang.
"Sorry, one sec, it's my husband," she grimaced, holding her finger up to stop you from leaving.
In a bid to give her a modicum of privacy, you tallied up the tickets and bunched them into coils for easier counting later. Heather's normally calm voice rose in pitch and urgency, drawing your attention back to her in time to see a look of alarm and annoyance cross her face.
"What do you mean, burned? Like, burned burned? There's smoke?! Oh, honey, what on earth..." she paused, listening to her husband's voice some more, giving you an eye roll that clearly said 'Men. They're hopeless' and interrupted whatever he had been saying. "Alright, alright. It's slowing down here so I can run home."
Putting her phone back in her purse, Heather turned to you with a huff. "He's burnt dinner, and it sounds like my skillet is toast, too. I'm sorry to do this to you but I need to run to the store and bring dinner home. I've got the only car, so they're stuck."
Assuring her you could manage on your own, you shooed her away and told her to take her time.
Walking backward to wave goodbye, Heather kept spouting numerous apologies and promising she'd make it up to you on your coffee date. Giving one last smile she spun around and immediately ran into old Mrs. Crawley who was being escorted by no other than a very bored and trapped-looking Frankie Morales.
"Oh! Mrs. Crawley! So sorry!" She began, steadying the white-haired octogenarian, "I'm being called home, ditching my post, gotta run, bye!" With that, she was gone, weaving her way through the crowd of people.
Mrs. Crawley had glanced over at you when Heather had mentioned having to leave and was currently shuffling her way towards you, Frankie in tow.
"Frankie, be a dear and help this beautiful lady out while Heather is away."
It wasn't a question but you still felt the need to speak up, giving Frankie an out if he wanted it.
"I can manage-"
"But what about your-"
You'd both spoken at the same time and stopped mid-way through to let the other go first. Mrs. Crawley broke the silence instead.
"My hip is feeling much better, and I think I'll just make my way over to the bandstand," she gave Frankie a meaningful look accompanied by a rather sharper-than-expected slap to his cheek, "alone."
You both watched her walk over to the stage, stopping to wave at Jacquie and Agnes where they were organizing the bake sale.
"What on earth is going on," you thought to yourself while staring daggers at Jacquie from across the street. This had zero effect on her, she was just sending you lewd winks and had the audacity to give Mrs. Crawley a thumbs up. That conniving little-
"Emmmm... hi."
His voice, sounding uncertain and shy, brought your attention back to Frankie. Taking a moment to soak in his presence, you noticed how worn down he looked. "Good," thought the petty part of your brain, but she was easily squashed by the rest of it appreciating the rest of him.
Tight jeans hugging his thighs, the buttons on his shirt working overtime where the material pulled across his back and chest, his hair was long and getting shaggy but when you saw the curls peeking out from under his baseball cap you had to fight the sudden urge to run your fingers through it.
Your eyes traveled up his neck, noting the way his adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed thickly, and across his face. He'd trimmed his beard, filthy thoughts of how it would feel on your skin flashed in your head.
Finally meeting his eyes with your own, you had to take a breath before replying.
"It's nice to see you, Frankie." Your tongue darted out to wet your lips, drawing his gaze "I guess we should talk-"
You were cut short by rowdy laughter and a crowd of people bustling onto the street, another wave of ticket-holders were coming to try their luck and win the huge teddy bear prize each game boasted.
For the next hour, you were kept too busy to talk more than what was necessary for running the booth. You used the time to gather your thoughts and make a list of what you wanted to say, how you wanted to say it, and how you were going to start the conversation casually.
Frankie wasn't sure how he had ended up as Mrs. Crawley's crutch. One minute he was dropping off a crate of fruit for the apple bobbing contest and the next he was walking at a snail's pace listening to the old woman reminiscing about her long-dead husband.
She was sweet, and he didn't mind the slow meander around the square. No, it was the subject matter that had bugged him. After his divorce was finalized and his daughter was taken from him, which he could see now was the right thing to do at the time, Frankie had accepted the fact that he was alone.
Just him, his trees, and the memories of what he did to end up this way.
Then, you had come along. The first woman to catch his attention in five damn years. It wasn't just your beauty, or your easy smile, or the curves of your body. It was your goodness, your innocence, your ability to worm your way into everyone's hearts and not even know it.
Listening to Mrs. Crawley and the love she had shared made his chest ache, knowing he'd never deserve it himself he still found himself longing for the same. The first moment he had laid eyes on you, it was like a movie about his life had played in flashes in his mind. The meet-cute at the market, romancing you with thoughtful dates like picnics and driving up to the city’s museums and theatre. Getting married, growing the business, then growing your family. It had all played out in a split second but the impression it had left was immeasurable.
Then, he'd opened his mouth and ruined the moment. Crashed into your truck and ruined the moment. Spooked and burned you, ruining the moment. Gained your trust, broke down your walls, and then left like a coward in the morning and ruined it.
Shaken by his inward reflecting when Mrs. Crawley was jostled, Frankie froze in place once his eyes were directed to where you stood. You were glaring over his shoulder and refusing to meet his eyes, understandably, yet he still felt his chest contract with the hope you'd look at him and smile.
The way your gaze had eventually taken him in, once he'd been abandoned by a suddenly spry-looking elder, had flared that longing back into a roaring flame. The sudden need to work the booth gave him plenty of time to plan his speech: begging for forgiveness and admitting to the way he felt. While his mind was busy planning his speech, his heart was bursting at how comfortably and effortlessly the two of you worked with each other, like you’d been doing it for years.
Heather returned, strolling over with a barely concealed smile on her face, not looking at all like she'd just come back from a domestic emergency. This whole town could win an Oscar for their performance tonight, it was mildly humiliating but you knew they were acting out of love.
She thanked Frankie profusely for standing in for her and wouldn't take no for an answer after suggesting the two of you go and enjoy yourselves for a bit. Glancing at Frankie you shrugged your shoulders and made a face that said "why not?". He smiled and nodded back, grabbing your bag and slinging it over his shoulder before joining you on the bustling street.
You walked in comfortable silence for a while, relishing just being near each other and absorbing the jubilant energy surrounding you.
Frankie bought you cotton candy and you made him belly laugh when you showed him the few bottles of cider you'd smuggled in your bag. Seeing the way his face lit up, how he exposed that delicious neck when he threw his head back, hearing the joyous rumble from deep within, sent a realization slamming into you so suddenly it made you stumble.
You loved him.
You might not be in love with him, not yet anyway, but there was a lightness and a warmth in your heart and he had put it there.
Frankie had grabbed your arm when you had stumbled and when you didn't pull away from his touch, his hand slid down your arm and his fingers wove their way through yours.
Walking like this, hand in hand, you found yourselves at the rides.
"I've never been on a Ferris Wheel," he admits to you, craning his head upwards to stare at the top carriage.
Dragging your eyes away from his neck, again, it took your brain a moment to acknowledge what he’d said. "What?!" You expressed with mock horror, already making your way toward the ride’s gate, "Then let's remedy that!"
"I'm- uh this is stupid," he was barely moving with you and adjusted his hat, a nervous tick you'd noticed, "I'm scared of heights."
This admission stopped you in your tracks.
"Frankie." You deadpanned, gripping his hand and pulling on it to emphasize your words, "You're. A. Pilot."
He groaned and you were sure you could see a blush creeping up from beneath his collar, "I know! I know. It's just that, up there?" He stops with a sigh, gazing at the stars wistfully, "I'm in control. I trust myself."
"Do you trust me?" You ask him softly gripping his hand between the both of yours.
Frankie gazed at your face for a breath, not in a way that made you think he was hesitating, it was more like he was pausing so you knew the full weight of his words.
"I trust you with everything."

Meeting and Dating James T. Davis
(Not my gif)(Requested by anonymous)
- You first met James when the two of you were young. He was a friend of your older brothers and had; on account of this, spent countless days at your house.
- He relentlessly teased you and; at times, completely infuriated you, but he could also be a sweetheart when he wanted to be. Like the time he’d driven an hour out of his way to pick you up after your date; whom he had told you from the start was an asshat, bailed on you or when he’d tutored you for months on end so that you could pass physics.
- While he oftentimes adamantly denied it, it was obvious that he cared about you; though at first it was in a purely platonic, brotherly way. It was when the two of you were in highschool that that all changed.
- Your brother had graduated the year before leaving both you and his best buddy behind in your crappy highschool. James was in his senior year and you were a sophomore.
- Your brother had asked James to keep an eye on you while he was off at college; not that he really had to since the boy was planning on doing so anyway. Because of that, you and the boy started to hang out more and more which is why you were comfortable shyly admitting that you had a crush on; and a budding romance with, a boy in your class
“Who?” James wrinkled his nose, squinting his eyes as he scanned the parking lot of your highschool, hands stilling inside his backpack where they were once fishing for his car keys.
“Don’t be so obvious!” You whisper yelled and he glanced down at you for a split second before moving his eyes to search for the boy once more. “He’s the one by the red car, the one with the denim jacket.”
“Him?” He’d asked as though it were ridiculous that you liked him.
“Yes him,” you replied defensively. “Why? ...what’s wrong with him?”
“Nah, nah, nothing,” He told you initially though the way he said it betrayed the words. “C’mon, lets go. I can see the drool starting to show and I don’t want to mess up my shoes.”
- That night, James laid in bed, staring at his ceiling, an indescribable feeling washing over him. His mind ran through everything you told him, touching upon this and that and wondering why it all made him so ...angry?
- Sure that was part of it, but there was something else to it, something much more complicated. He glanced at the clock in his bedroom and sighed; it was going to be a long night.
- He took a few days to watch you closer detail and think things through. It was during that time that he came to a realization.
- He wasn’t sure when it all started but he’d begun to find you ...cute, and not in that “oh she’s such a cute little girl” sort of way either, he found you pretty, beautiful even. Perhaps that was part of the reason why it made him so angry to see another boy pursuing you and why it bothered him so much that you seemed to like him back.
- His feelings for you grew more and more, or maybe he was just more perceptive to them now that he knew how he felt about you. Either way, he’d officially fallen for you and had begun to think of ways to ask you out.
- Everything came to a head the day you found out your crush; and the boy who flirted with you, got himself a girlfriend. You felt silly getting upset over it but you couldn’t help it. You felt stupid, you felt like you weren’t good enough for anybody.
- It was enough to make you feel sick, so much so that you weren’t even lying when you went to the nurse to tell her you didn’t feel good. You’d walked home in the middle of the school day after the nurse excused you from class and spent the rest of the afternoon in bed.
- James came to check on you after school, a bit worried that something had happened after you didn’t meet him for a ride home. He let himself into your house, knocking on your bedroom door until you hesitantly and weakly called for him to come in.
- The minute he saw you, he immediately asked what was wrong and refused to let you deny that you weren’t upset until you finally admitted everything. A little ways into your explanation, he’d made himself comfortable on your bed and pulled you into a hug, all but cuddling you as you ranted to him miserably.
- He interrupted you as soon as you began to put yourself down, softly telling you that the kid was an idiot if he chose someone else over you and listing off a bunch of things that made you a “total catch”. You sniffled and laughed as he made a light hearted joke, resting your head on his shoulder as the two of you sat in a comfortable silence.
“Hey, y/n?” He asked and you’d replied curiously. “...Did you really like that kid?”
“I don’t know,” You answered truthfully. “I think; more than anything, I liked him because I thought he liked me.”
“...I like you.”
“I know.”
“No y/n, I mean I like you,” he straightened up, letting go of you in the process and turning so that you were facing each other. “Listen, I know that this might come as a surprise to you and that it might be a bit strange but I can’t help it.”
“I know I can be a bit of a jerk sometimes and that I don’t drive a stupid looking Oldsmobile fiesta; how could you look at that thing and still want to get in that guys pants is beyond me.” he shook his head as though he were clearing his thoughts.
“But I do like you, no, I love you. And if you like me, even if it’s just a little bit, then I would appreciate it if you told me so that I can stop feeling so stupid and at least get my ass beat by your brother for a good reason.”
- You should have seen his smile when you admitted that you’d always thought he was kinda cute. He asked if you’d like to go do something with him and you smiled for the first time that day. You spent the next couple of hours driving around town and stopping to do whatever the two of you thought looked fun. You doubt that you could ever have as much fun just mindlessly wandering around with someone as you did with him.
- The two of you shared your first kiss on your third date. You’d gone to a carnival with him and he’d insisted that he could win you the big teddy bear prize that one of the games had had. You didn’t get your hopes up but a small part of you did get a little excited.
- Much to your surprise, he actually won and you were soon the proud owner of a four foot tall stuffed animal.
“Think that earns me a kiss?” He asked teasingly.
- You most certainly did.
- He’s always happy to touch you so don’t expect him to hold back when you’re out in public. He wants his hands on you constantly, usually in an innocent way though he does get an inexplicable urge to smack your ass in public.
- That being said: ass smacks, usually out of nowhere.
- Long hard kisses, especially after not seeing each other for a while or after he’s had a really rough day.
- Slow makeout sessions. He likes savoring the time he spends with your lips pressed against his, his hands wandering and the world around you disappearing.
- Hand kisses. Whenever you grab his, he’ll pull your connected hands up to his face and press a kiss to the back of yours.
- Long hugs.
- Ruffling each other’s hair.
- Soft punches and play wrestling.
- Dancing to records together.
- He’s got a thing for brunch. The two of you go out; at least, every week and get it together.
- Tons of nicknames, namely sweetheart and angel; he’s particularly fond of those.
- Private Joker, obviously he’s a pretty funny guy. He always seems to know how to make you laugh or smile. And he loves hearing you laugh, it’s like music to his ears.
- He leans his head on your shoulder whenever you’re sitting together. It’s sort of funny since; considering his height, he needs to bend completely out of shape or sit a good foot away from you to do so.
- Lazy mornings spent in bed. He always wakes up really early but usually just glances at the clock and groans, cuddling closer into you as he falls back asleep. He definitely spent like a full three days just sleeping after he got back from Vietnam, only taking breaks to eat, go to the bathroom, and give you a kiss.
- He refuses to sleep on his back once he gets home from the war. He cuddles close to you, wrapping himself around you like he’s giving you a bear hug in his sleep. Every now and again his arms will tighten around you the slightest bit more or he’ll wake up with a start, nuzzling closer as he tries to steady his breathing.
- Comforting him after nightmares. Sometimes you’ll just sit and stay awake with him for the whole night because he doesn’t want to go back to sleep. He insists that you don’t have to but you wouldn’t feel right just leaving him by himself like that.
- He doesn’t talk a whole lot about the time that he spent in Vietnam or recruitment camp but he does tell you about Cowboy and some of the sights that he saw.
- He most likely brought you back something when he was discharged; maybe some pressed flowers or coins, a knickknack, something like that.
“Either my eyes are going or you’ve gotten even more beautiful since the last time I saw you.”
- He moans over your cooking. He’s had to eat shitty MRE meals everyday for months so anything else is a blessing to him.
- Clingy boy, especially after he got back. He didn’t have the company of a decent woman for a long time so he feels like he has to make up for it, although, even before he left for war, he was still a touchy, needy little shit.
- Sometimes, he likes to act like he’s some big tough army guy; a trained killer and all that jazz, but he’s actually just a huge softie, especially when it comes to you. You can baby and tease him all you want and half the time he’ll just lay down and take it contentedly.
- Anytime you ask him those embarrassing coupley questions, he always replies with a shy “I am” and an uncontrollable smile.
- He likes when you put your hand on the side of his face. Feeling your touch; so soft and warm against his own skin, always makes him feel content.
- He likes going out and doing things for dates. Amusement park and carnival visits, bowling, mini golf, roller skating, going to the movies. He’s fine with sitting alone, and on some days he prefers it, but generally, he likes adventures.
- Watching westerns together.
- He’s always there to help you when you need it and he’s always the sweetest about it too. He never belittles you for what you don’t know, he just shows you how to do it/explains it and praises you when you learn.
- He likes helping you get ready in the morning/night: brushing your hair, helping you put on your coat, etc. He knows you don’t need him to but sometimes he needs it, the monotony and closeness of it calms and soothes him.
- So many compliments. You get; at least, one a day from him. R.I.P. your ears when he catches you feeling insecure, he’s going to list every single thing that he loves about you until your ego is so inflated that you could pop at any minute.
- Looking over his writing for him. I’m convinced he got a job in journalism.
- Exchanging letters when he’s active duty. He; quite literally, kisses them whenever they arrive, a big smile plastered across his face.
- He carried a photo and/or wore something of yours; like a ring or bracelet, wherever he went while he was deployed. It helped him to not feel too homesick and remind him of all the good things he has waiting for him at the end of the line, specifically you.
- You may or may not be the star of his erect nipple wet dreams and great homecoming fuck fantasies.
- He enjoys annoying you, but in an endearing way. Goofily attacking your neck with his lips as you squeal and push him away, messing with your hair, talking about stuff he knows you dislike (like insects or gore). He likes getting a rise out of you.
- There’s no way he got out of the war unscathed and without any lingering trauma. I’m sure he gets his fair share of nightmares and days where he’s far worse for wear; both from his time spent in combat and his final day at the recruitment camp.
- For a long while, he didn’t know if he was gonna last until thirty so he’s thankful for everyday he gets to spend with you.
- He’ll occasionally get jealous for real but mainly, he finds people being attracted to you amusing; because he has you and they don’t. He’s so smug about it too, pulling you into a kiss right in front of them and giving them an arrogant smile once you break apart.
- Overprotective. He’s lost a lot of people that he’s cared about so he never wants to drag you into anything dangerous or see you; potentially, get hurt in any way. So, while some of the things he disapproves certainly won’t kill you, you can sort of understand where he’s coming from.
- Having to hold him back from fighting people; he can be a bit of a hothead at times. As stressful as it can be, you can’t say that it isn’t attractive when he bites his lip and breathes all heavy.
- The two of you don’t fight very often; he can never stay mad at you. He’ll try to give you the silent treatment but it isn’t long before he caves and talks to you. If the two of you get really riled up, he has a tendency to smash his lips to yours and release all his pent up frustration in other ways.
- Depending on the situation, he’ll be a bit reluctant to apologize but will at some point, usually when he can’t stand not talking to you anymore. Although, sometimes neither of you will apologize; especially if you use an ...alternative method to release your frustration.
- He says he loves you all the time, mainly because he values you above everything else and never wants you to doubt that he does. Even though he tends to say the words with a lingering, joking tone, you still know that he means them from the way that he looks at you.
- He’s had a bit of time to think about what he wants to do with his life and you’ve been a doll: loyal, loving, caring. He can’t wait to marry and start a family with you. He can’t think of anyone better to spend the rest of his life with.

Amusement Park/Carnivals with the Akatsuki
Hidan
Hidan won’t ever admit this, but most amusement park rides scare him to death. He doesn’t feel comfortable on any machine that he can’t control, and he’s been plagued with a profound fear of heights since he was a child. He covers up this fear and avoids rides by continuously saying how “boring” everything is; although he CAN handle on-the-ground things like bumper cars or lazy water-rafting rides. One time Kisame goaded him into riding The Giant Drop, and afterwards Hidan’s hands had to be forcibly pried off of the bar by three different people. Like Deidara, he’s a fan of the games and will avidly compete with the others (and sometimes strangers) to win the biggest prize/achieve the highest score. Also totally into anything horror-based (like a “haunted house” or “spooky maze”); not because he finds them scary but because he thinks it’s hilarious what they try to pass off as scary. Sometimes will hide behind things within these attractions and jump out to scare people himself, until he’s caught and made to leave by the workers. Ridiculously huge fan of popcorn and will have multiple bags throughout the course of the day.
Deidara
This guy LOVES rollercoasters. The more loops and twists the better, the faster the more awesome. He’ll stand in line as long as necessary to ride these speed demons over and over, grinning and shouting like a madman the whole time. He can be persuaded to go on the slower, tamer rides by his fellow Akatsuki members (like a Tilt-A-Whirl) but will groan and loudly complain about how lame they are. A big fan of the park fare, in particular anything on a stick and/or covered with melted cheese. Has to be reminded to time his snacking correctly and let his food digest so that he doesn’t end up puking during a coaster’s upside-down loop. Not really a fan of water-based rides because they mess up his Perfectly Straight™️ hair. Also likes to compete against Itachi and Hidan in games; Konan will always go home loaded down with stuffed animals because the three will go overboard trying to outdo each other. Deidara also has somewhat of a mean sense of humor; when boarding roller coasters, he always seeks out the ones who look like they’re about to crap their pants in fear. He’ll manage to put a low-grade explosive underneath their car, not strong enough to blow a hole on it but loud enough to make a noise as though something is very wrong with the coaster. The person will, of course, go into a full-blown panic; and Deidara will laugh himself silly over his “harmless” prank.
Kakuzu
Thinks that things like this are a horrible scam and waste of money ... as a customer. However, as with any possible business opportunity, he’s ready with the capital and the ideas for him to turn a buck. Likely he’ll keep it simple and open up a souvenir stand within the grounds; for some reason people are always willing to spend a ridiculous amount of money on poorly-made trinkets when they’re surrounded by smiling idiots and happy music. He’s willing to cut one or two of his fellow Akatsuki comrades into his action as cheap labor, but nobody wants to leave their fun to help the old grinch con people. At the end of the day, when his shop or stand or whatever he has is sold out of its wares/closed, he can possibly POSSIBLY be persuaded to go on one of the tamer rides (Konan will push for them all going on the Ferris wheel after dark because the lights make it look pretty).
Kisame
Has to be persuaded to go to things like this; he really isn’t comfortable in crowds because everybody (strangers) always stare at him. Once he finally breaks down and goes, however, he has such a good time that he doesn’t want to leave. Rides are a bit of a complication for him (because of his long legs) but he manages to make it work. He especially likes anything that goes out on a man-made river or water path. Kisame’s food of choice is seafood, which is quite hard to find at amusement parks; but sometimes he’ll luck out and find a stand that sells fish tacos. Used to like playing the games but was put off of them after one time when he did the ring-the-bell with the hammer thing, and ended up breaking the hammer. And the bell. And the stand that both things were on.
Tobi
Tobi is always down for spending a fun afternoon with the group, and he thinks amusement parks are great ... except for one teeny tiny thing: Tobi is absolutely terrified of “characters”. The people who walk around in colorful costumes scare the bejesus out of Tobi, which is pretty damn ironic, considering he wears a mask himself. In fact his own face gear has caused him trouble at places like this ... some characters see him walking around and assume he’s one of them, but when they approach him to see why he’s goofing off — Tobi runs in the other direction, screaming. Deidara usually has to chase him (and calm him) down, and placate the scaredy-cat by going on the kiddie rides with him. Yes, the kiddie-rides. Two grown men being shut into the Teacups or the Flying Dumbo ride or picking out horses on the carousel is always an amusing sight for all, none more so than Hidan who will conveniently show up in time to take pictures and use it as blackmail over Deidara’s head for the rest of his natural life. Tobi also really likes the sweetness of the food, and if no one’s keeping an eye on him, there’s a good chance he’ll OD on a mix of funnel cakes, churros and cotton candy.
Zetsu
Sadly for the carnivorous plant-man, nobody ever tells him when everybody is going to a place like this. It’s not because they don’t enjoy spending time with Zetsu, and it’s not because they’re trying to be mean, but — Zetsu has a problem with self-control. Like Tobi, if Zetsu sees something he wants to eat, then he has to have it, at all costs. Park days are supposed to be stress-free, and nobody feels like having to keep watch on Zetsu to make sure he isn’t getting ready to snatch a baby out of a stroller or lure a delicious-looking child away from his mother.
Sasori
As with most things in life that are fun, Sasori is simply not interested. However, he’ll be persuaded to join the others through the constant pushing ((whining)) of his younger partner Deidara, or the childlike Tobi. It’s hard to tell what Sasori finds enjoyable, because his expression NEVER CHANGES. The same calm, blank look stays on his face whether on 360 degree roller coaster or being jumped at by a blood-drenched ghoul in a haunted house. The only time anyone sees him crack a smile is when a kid runs past him, trips on his shoelaces and lands face-first on his own ice cream cone. Although it’s not immediately obvious, Sasori DOES really enjoy people-watching, and places such as these provide the ideal, eclectic set of humans for him to sit and observe.
Itachi
When it comes to amusement parks or carnivals, Itachi isn’t really much one for the rides. Or the people. What he IS into, is being with the others. Watching his teammates faces light up on the rides, hearing their delighted shrieks, or shoving decadent treats into their mouths like giddy children. It’s a feeling of normalcy, of blending into the crowd with no stress, no combat, no blood or death or destruction; just fun. Itachi IS very much into what passes for games at these places. As with most things he finds everything to be ridiculously easy, and enjoys teasing Deidara and Hidan about his wins. Something else he enjoys is going on the water-rides with Kisame, as the guy gets really, REALLY happy anytime he’s around water. However he also has to keep a close eye on him to make sure that he stays seated/buckled in to whatever contraption they’re on; there’s been quite a few times when the entire group has come close to being kicked out because Kisame can’t help jumping in the water and swimming, which is against the rules (AND a scary sight to the children who believe they’re being stalked by a giant shark). Like Tobi, Itachi is a fan of sweets (although far less compulsive about it) and will consume more candy-apples than is probably healthy.
Konan/Pein
As a God, Pein won’t deign to visit such a lowly attraction as an ‘amusement’ park. What’s amusing about a bunch of mortals spending their hard-earned money to ride poorly put together machines and eat unhealthy foods? However, he will send Konan in his stead, to keep an eye on the other members. Konan enjoys being out and walking around the fresh air and sunshine. Her favorite attraction by far is the fun house; she loves the moving floors, the trippy optical illusions, the odd music. The distorted mirrors especially tickle her fancy, and she’ll spend a long time moving back and forth and looking at the different shapes the mirror makes her body. No matter what anyone else is doing, if Konan announces she’s going to the fun house, literally everybody will drop their plans and go with her. Konan is somebody who projects an air of seriousness and maturity almost all the time, so the other Akatsuki members relish any situation where they can hear the beautiful, almost child-like sound of her laughter. Those who play games will also compete to win her the biggest stuffed animal, and she’s the only one who won’t get her hand slapped away if she reaches for one of the snacks the others buy for themselves.

Well, yet another fic no one asked for😃
I wanted to write this because some time go, I was watching the fireworks when this song started to play↓↓↓
And I just thought how romantic it would be if I wasn't forever alone 🙃 so, I build a story around that. I hope you enjoy it!
P.s. This is a F!MC
--
I had been so excited for this day! In the human realm, my hometown this time of year had a huge festival ending with a huge firework show. I had asked to go a week in advance but due to being in the Devildom for the exchange program, I couldn't go. It definitely was a disappointment. However Diavolo, seeing me upset and now curious about the tradition, asked all about it and he thought it sounded fun. Thanks to him always wanting to do anything new, he immediately decided to do the same here in the Devildom.
So through the long week, he asked about everything we would do at the event to make it much more fun and quickly get everything ready to make this last second festival. It somehow all came together and it feels almost exactly like the festival from the human realm. The food, sweets and all! Now it was the time to enjoy the festival!
The brothers couldn't understand why I was so excited for this. Though we all went to festivals and saw fireworks, It was just something that I would always look forward to this time of the year and it's just more special this time around. It kinda feels as if I'm sharing something that I love with everyone I care about in a place where I like to call my new home. Hopefully they'll come to enjoy this as much as I do.
"So, this is called an Elephant ear?“ Beel asked, drooling at the large fried sweet in front of him.
I laugh, as I grab a piece before he can scarf the treat whole, "Yeah, it's just fried dough with powdered sugar on it. They usually sell these at any carnival or festival." I pop the elephant ear in my mouth, savoring the amazing taste.
The brothers each had something to eat as we took a break from all the festival games littered around. We all take two picnic benches for the 8 of us, well, us and Beel's giant pile of food he got. Everyone had won something from the games…well everyone but me and Mammon. Mammon was determined to win a game, yet his luck seemed to be the worse for wear today and all the games we'd gone to all ended up with one of the other brothers winning the game. My luck honestly wasn't any better due to playing the same games that the others had won.
"I'm telling ya! Those games are rigged! The people runnin 'em are just a bunch of con artists!“ Mammon yells, clearly frustrated that he hasn't gotten anything.
"Or maybe you just suck lol" Levi says, holding a Ruri-chan plush to his chest.
"Honestly, you really shouldn't be surprised, you were pretty terrible at all those games since you had no choice but to play fair." Satan adds on, which all the brothers nod in agreement.
Asmo laughs, "Well, what do you expect from a scumbag?"
I start to get annoyed as the brothers all start to bash on Mammon. He seems fine on the surface but I've been around him long enough, with him basically living in my room and all, to see all his little ticks. Like when he's excited, his hand gestures are more dramatic, to emphasize his point or how his eyes light up when something catches his attention, like something to make a quick buck. However, right now, with the way his mouth slightly twitches and his hand shoved into his pockets, he's upset. He really only does this when the brothers throw insult after insult at him, like right now.
I sigh as they continue their assault on him. But an idea comes to mind and it'll be easy enough to pull off.
"Does...that all that stuff apply to me too? Since I didn't win anything either, after all..." I say, putting on my best pouting face and looking down at the ground.
Immediately, the brothers started to panic, trying to reassure me that it wasn't true, successfully drawing their attention away from Mammon. I slightly looked up, passed the frantic brothers to lock eyes with Mammon. He stood there for a moment, a bit confused by my sudden comment. I flash him a quick smirk before looking up at the brothers, accepting their apologies. The brothers seemed to relax and drop the topic after that, returning to the food they have. Mammon, who had seemingly understood what my intentions really were, looked at me, with his face slightly flushed, then stared down at his food.
In Mammon's mind, he honestly doesn't know what force sent Y/N here but, she is honestly the best thing that has ever happened to him. At first, he hated the idea of being her guardian due to all of the extra work he was given. But, as days turned to weeks, her treatment towards him was nothing but sweet and loving. It honestly was a huge adjustment for him, since everyone treated him like scum or useless, having her place so much faith in him, even defending him and doing little gestures like this, it makes his head spin. He honestly couldn't pinpoint when it happened, but, his feelings for her drastically changed, he couldn't deny it now, how he longed for her, wanted her all to himself. How he loved her unconditionally.
I smile, quickly finish eating my food then stand up, "Ok! Time to get back to the games!“ I say, excitedly.
"Y/N, I'm glad you are excited but some of us still need to eat." Lucifer says, glancing at Beel and his mountain of food.
"Awww, come on Lucifer, I wanna try to win something before the fireworks start." I plop down again, putting my chin in my hands.
"Well, I'm sure we'll have plenty of time." Lucifer tries to cheer me up, eating some fries.
Mammon looks up at Y/N, upon seeing her upset. He honestly hated seeing Y/N upset, even if for something so small as to wait for everyone to finish eating. He wanted nothing more than to see her smile everyday, it honestly was one of his favorite parts of the day to see her smile so sweetly. He'll do anything to make her happy. He sits up and scarfs down his food before standing up. "Ok, how 'bout this,' ' Mammon gets up and walks over to me, ' ' since I haven't won anythin', I'm gonna go play some more games and I'll meet ya guys later. Y/N, ya can come if ya want to." Mammon starts to walk away, at a slower pace than he usually would.
"Yeah! Ok!" Before any of the other brothers could protest, I quickly got up and hurried over to Mammon. I can hear the brothers stumbling to get up to follow us.
"Hey! Mammon is stealing Y/N!"
"That's not fair!“
"That scumbag..."
I hear some of the things they're saying as they seem to be trying to catch up.
I grab Mammon's hand and start to make a run for it. "Come on!" I glanced back at Mammon, who seemed shocked. He looks back to see the brothers in hot pursuit of us. Getting the hint, Mammon picks up the pace. We high tail it out of there, laughing like a bunch of kids all the while.
--
Me and Mammon finally stop and I flop on the floor, trying to catch my breath as Mammon puts his hands on his knees.
"I…I think we lost 'em" Mammon pants, out of breath from running around.
"I…I think so…jeez, how…how do you always do this when you get in trouble?“ I wheeze out, my human body not used to running as much as a demon. Especially if that demon is Mammon.
Mammon straightens up, finally catching his breath, "Well, I'm not usually running from ALL of my brothers, just Lucifer mostly."
Mammon reaches his hand to me and after a moment, I let him help me up. He helps me to my feet and when I look up, his face is very close to mine. We stare at each other for a moment before both of our faces turn more flushed than we already were.
His bright blue eyes that have a hint of that golden yellow has me in a trance. When I first met Mammon, it was the first thing that drew my attention, it's honestly something that I always find myself staring at all of the time. They are very beautiful to me and never fail to make me feel relaxed when I see them. But not only that, he is a very handsome man. His rich caramel skin with his pure white hair makes his face stand out even more. He is just so captivating to look at, however his personality is what truly makes him shine. Even if he tries, and fails, to hide his true feelings, he always has his heart on his sleeve, rather if he realizes that or not. He tries so hard to help me or to even make my day brighter when I'm not feeling my best. He even tries to protect his brothers and is always there for them. He honestly is the most caring person I've ever met and I can't help but fall for him because of that.
Mammon looked down at her face, he honestly couldn't help but stare. In his mind, she was more beautiful than anyone he's ever seen. Her beauty not only stopped at her looks but the person she was. She was a true wonder to him, too good to be true yet, here she was, defying all logic. All he wanted to do was look at every detail of her face, her eyes as they shine, her soft skin as the blush covers her face, her parted lips as her breath finally slows down. Mammon was the first to turn away, catching himself now staring at nothing but her lips.
He clears his throat. "W-Well since we're here, let's get to some games!" Mammon says, his fangs flash with his grin.
We made our way to the nearest game booth, both of us looking at the various prizes. The booth in question is a simple ring toss, the bottles are organized by colors which show what size prize you can get. There are the ridiculously large stuffed bears that are taller than me to the very small animal plushies. Scanning all the prizes, one catches my attention, a black plush crow with a yellow tag on it. It was big enough to hold in your arms, it's wings dangled at its sides. It had its beak opened slightly to look like a smile. I glance over at Mammon, who is currently eyeing a plushie of a grimm, that also has a yellow tag hanging off of it. I laugh, thinking of how that plush crow reminded me of him.
Mammon looks at me, slightly confused, "What are ya laughing at?"
"Oh nothing, though I know what prize I want." I smile, looking back at the crow plush.
Mammon follows my eyes over to the plush, he tilts his head at my choice, "Ya sure that's what ya want? There are plenty of things better than that ol' crow."
I nod enthusiastically, "Yeah, I think it's cute, like someone else I know." I playfully push him.
His ears turn a dark red but he laughs, "Well, I know what I want so, let's go and win some prizes!“
We pay the demon running the game and start trying to make the rings reach its mark. However, as in most carnaval games, the rings in question are only slightly bigger than the top of the bottles, making it much harder to win. Not to mention the bottles for the better prizes are further back, making it much harder. As we try a couple times, we don't get much luck and we're running out of grimms to play. However as we reach our last game, even though I end up with nothing, Mammon manages to sink a ring on a yellow bottle.
"We have a winner!“ the demon behind the booth says, walking over to grab the ring.
"Yeah! This was nothin' for the Great Mammon!" Mammon threw his hands in the air, and I cheered with him, "You did it! You won!“
The demon walks back over to us, "Alrighty, you can pick a prize with a yellow tag. Which will it be?"
Mammon's eyes flick to the plush he was eyeing earlier and he goes to speak, but an announcement rings through the speakers all around the festival, "The firework show will be starting in 15 minutes, marking the end of the festival! So hurry and grab a seat to enjoy the show!“ a cheery voice says before the music from before starts to play again. Mammon looks down at me for a moment before a small smile appears on his face.
Mammon looks at the demon and points at the plush crow, "I'll take that one."
I look up at Mammon, "But, I thought you wanted-“ I get cut off by the demon swift return, "Here you go." The demon hands him the crow plush.
Mammon takes the plush from the demon with his usual bright smile and starts walking off, I quickly follow, still confused. Once I catch up, he looks at me with a blush on his face and holds out the crow to me.
"W-well, there wasn't really anythin' I wanted, so I figured I'd get this ol' crow since ya seemed to want it so bad." He says with his usual bravado, yet it was a bit more shy than normal.
"But, you said…" I start to say as I take the plush but, cut my thought short.
Even though I know he wanted something, that much he's been saying all day, he still got me this crow plush. Knowing how he struggles to do these things and becoming a stuttering mess when it's pointed out, I choose to not question him. Yet, I can't help but love him even more, him knowing that I wanted something as well and that he'll be going back home later with nothing. I'll have to repay him later but for now, I'll just enjoy the rest of the festival with him.
I shake my head and give him a smile, one that shows how much I truly appreciate and love him, "Thank you so much, Mammon." I hold the crow close to myself.
Mammon feels all the air in his lungs escape him. Y/N's smile, the sparkle of joy and something more…intimate in her eyes. Honestly, for a split second, he found himself jealous of that crow, seeing Y/N holding it so lovingly. He wanted, no, needed to show her how much he loves her. If not tonight, it'll drive him insane.
--
After looking a bit, me and Mammon found a perfect spot to watch the fireworks. We sat on a hill that was a bit further away from the festival and luckily, we could still hear the music playing from one of the speakers nearby. We sat in a comfortable silence, waiting for the fireworks to begin. Which based on the amount of time it took to find this isolated spot, it should start at any moment.
Mammon is resting his arms on his knees as I sit with my legs crossed, the plush crow close to my chest. I watch all the demons in the distance hurrying to find a spot to watch the show as well. Thankfully, none of them seem to look in this direction. So right now, it's just us, alone.
After a few moments, Mammon looks over at me and shyly starts to speak, "H-hey, Y/N?"
I look back at Mammon, noticing his face slowly forming a blush, "Yes?"
"I…I wanted to tell ya-" Mammon gets cut off by the first firework going off.
We slightly jump, but my eyes widen as the firework show starts, "It's starting!"
I watch as the firework starts to make the usual dark Devildom sky shine bright with many different colors. All the while, a familiar song starts to play on the speakers, making this a moment that I want to treasure always. It was a song from the human realm and it was a song that made this moment feel more intimate. I honestly couldn't ask for a better day, I got to go to the festival with all my favorite people and I even had, dare I say it, a wonderful date with Mammon. The thought of going on a date with Mammon makes my cheeks burn but I truly wish that this day would never end.
Mammon's heart starts to pound in his chest, his gaze never leaving Y/N. He watches as her eyes glow with wonder, watching the fireworks as if it were the first time. She never looked more beautiful, more perfect than right now. If he was ever gonna make his move, it had to be now. Mammon opened his mouth to speak but he couldn't find it in himself to break her trance. However, his greed for her attention, her voice, her touch, for nothing but her, was growing. So, he closes his mouth and takes a deep breath. He leans closer to her as his shaky hand gently touches her cheek to turn her face towards him.
When I suddenly feel a light touch on my face, I snap back to reality. Before I can react, I feel my face being turned and suddenly, Mammon leans in, his eyes close and gently presses his lips on mine, like he's afraid that I'll break. My eyes widen, taking a moment to realize what is happening. Mammon, feeling me not move, starts to move away, most likely worried he did something wrong. But, not wanting to lose the moment, I quickly filled in the space he left, pressing my lips a bit harder than he did. Mammon tenses at my sudden movement but quickly melts into the kiss, holding my face with his hands. I place the plush to the side, momentarily forgotten, I place my hands on his chest for support.
The air stills, the world around us starts to disappear. The only thing to keep us from forgetting the world completely is the sound of fireworks and the song playing so sweetly.
I snake my arms around Mammon's neck, then he takes the chance to pull me in closer by my waist, closing the gap between us. Even though he was nervous at first, he seems to have relaxed, even nips at my bottom lip, causing me to gasp. He swiftly slips his tongue in my mouth, tangling it with mine, deepening the kiss. We held each other close, like we were afraid that the other would vanish.
Needing to breathe, we lean away slightly. I'm not sure when it happened, but I managed to end up on Mammon's lap. Mammon seems to also realize the position we're in and his breath hitches.
His hand comes up and holds my face, "I love ya, Y/N."
My heart flutters and I lean into his touch, "I love you too, Mammon. I…I always have."
"Y/N, I care about ya so much and I…I don't want anyone else trying to steal my most precious treasure from me. The thought of it kills me, because I'm yer first man." Mammon stops, becoming more shy, "I w-want ya to be mine and…I'll be yers…if ya want me."
I feel as though all of the butterflies in my stomach would explode out of me. I can't stop the big smile that appears on my face, "Mammon," I hold his face in my hands, "no one could ever take me away. And not only that but…" I bite my lip, feeling a bit bashful, "You already have me. Now and forever."
If Mammon could, his eyes would have hearts in them. He looked at me with such lovestruck eyes, his face is probably the most peaceful expression I've ever seen. I look back at him in awe, honestly have never seen him so happy, like he's on cloud nine.
A smile is plastered on his face, "I promise that I will be with ya till the end of time. I gotta be the luckiest demon in the whole festival, no, the Devildom. But, I guess I did win something at the festival after all." His smile suddenly turns into a smirk, "What do ya say we go somewhere more private and we can continue…this?"
My face turns red, but I nod. We stand up, I grab my plushie so that we can leave when I suddenly hear someone, or rather, some people, running this way.
"MAMMON!"
We spin around, both of us knowing too well who that voice belongs to. Lucifer and the rest of the brothers are running at full sprint in our direction.
"Oh shit!" Mammon yells out, quickly sweeping me off my feet, making a run for it.
Startled, I grabbed on to Mammon's jacket, making sure to not drop my crow plush, "Ah! M-Mammon!“
He looks down at me, " Well, I might get strung up later, but I'm yer man now. I want ya all to myself and I don't know about ya, but I'm not ready for tonight to end." He flashes his signature smile.
I can't help but laugh, as we make yet another escape from the brothers. This is truly the best day I could have asked for.

Trinket
hey friends!! been a while, I know... but hey, here’s some modern AU perc’ahlia! inspired by the prompt ‘carnival’ and kind of sad but also kind of happy (my favourite)
Pairing: perc’ahlia
Words: 4580

a modern au about winning bears at carnivals
The first time Vex’ahlia saw Trinket, she let out a delighted chuckle.
Gilmore was showing them all of the prizes the kids could win at his shooting game at the annual Emon carnival. He’d pulled it all together at record speed. Apparently, his diner was going through just a tiny bit of a dip in visits, so he wanted to lure in some more families with younger kids by participating in the carnival and plastering his logo on everything he sold. He told Vex and Vax about it a couple of weeks ago and flirted with both of them until they gave in and promised that they’d help out. Vax would help out at the waffle stand and Vex was going to run the shooting game stand a few lanes over.
The game was fairly simple: customers had to hit a couple of unicorn-themed targets with a small plastic gun that shot tiny squishy balls. If they couldn’t hit any, they got a consolation prize, a discount for a waffle at Gilmore’s other stand. But if they did manage to get some hits in, there was a variety of small, cute prizes for them to pick from. And the biggest prize was a huge bear plushie.
Vex’s eyes shone brightly as she looked the bear over. When her brother saw what she was looking at, he snorted. Then he reached out and took her hand. He got it, of course.
When they were six, their mother took them to a carnival. The big prize for one of the games was a huge bear plushie just like this one. Weirdly realistic, kind of menacing, absolutely perfect for her. She’d spent a stupid amount of time trying to win it, but money was tight, and when she noticed her mom’s guilty expression every time she opened her wallet, she let it go. It didn’t stop her from walking by the stall a couple of more times, just to see the bear. She made up a story where she’d rescue him from his carnival prison and he would be her best friend. Together, they’d go an adventure. Vax too, of course. He was part of all of her adventures.
Quietly giving up on that bear was a turning point in her life. It was the moment she realised that her mom needed her help. Her mom needed her to be strong and happy with the tiniest things. Her mom needed her to stop wanting things.
Vex’ahlia never stopped wanting things.
She hadn’t thought of that bear in years. Her life had a bunch of other turning points that kind of took the spotlight away from it. Losing their mother to cancer. Moving in with their horrible father. Finally leaving his house the second she and Vax turned eighteen.
That last one got their lives onto a better track, though. Things got better after they left the Vessar family behind. It was rough at first, of course, trying to make a living, but they’d saved up money while they still lived with their father for that exact purpose, so things never got out of hand. They took any jobs they could for a while, and then they went into the food business. They opened their bakery when they were twenty-four. Thanks to Vax’s creativity and Vex’s eye for business, it took off after a year.
It was a little poetic that the bear came back into her life after all that.
She walked up to it and patted one of its arms, greeting it like an old friend. Gilmore had no idea what was happening and his head was too full to ask, so he just told her to get acquainted with the place before the opening the day after and dragged Vax off to see to the waffle stand.
Vex watched them go with a smile on her face and turned back to the bear. “It’s you and me again, buddy,” she told it. She grabbed its paw and shook it. “Nice to finally meet you. This is going to be fun.”
And it was fun.
Their bakery hadn’t made it through the selection process for the food stands at the carnival, but this way she could still show her face to prospective customers. People knew her as Vex from the bakery, so every time she chatted with them and handed out prizes to the children, she knew that she was putting her bakery back into their heads. The bakery was open, of course; their employees were running it during these weeks. Vex knew exactly how to pepper that fact into conversation.
Gilmore’s game was deceptively simple, so most customers left with a nice prize. The discount system worked too: Vax told her that most of the people who won a discount code showed up to get their waffles and spent some extra money on drinks and special toppings. Gilmore’s business was booming. And according to JP, the bakery was seeing customers too, despite the carnival.
The shifts were very long, but Vex didn’t mind. After the carnival she’d be beat for a couple of days, but for now she was thriving. She loved commerce. She loved carnivals. And Vax brought her waffles.
She ran the stand by herself, which kept her very busy during rush hours, but she preferred it that way. She liked having full control over the entire place. It reminded her of the first year at the bakery, when Vax and her were the only people keeping the place together. It was a little weird not to have Vax there, sometimes, considering that comparison, but every time she felt that she could just turn to Trinket.
She named him Trinket because all of the prizes were trinkets, and because he was adorable. Every morning when she came in, she patted him on his arm and told him good morning. A few days into the carnival, everyone knew that Vex had made friends with the giant bear at the shooting stand. She would stand next to it when the children were shooting and pretend to talk to it about how incredible their aim was. She’d frown and nod like she was listening to a response and tell the children that Trinket thought that they were awesome. No one came close to winning him, of course. You needed seriously good aim to get all of the targets, and for the big prize there was a time limit too.
Of course, some people couldn’t resist teasing her about her friendship with the bear. Like the handsome engineer who fixed broken games all day
He caught her eye as early as the second day of the carnival. He was called in to fix the Wack-A-Mole came right opposite to Vex’s stand and Vex absolutely did a double take when he came walking up.
He was wearing the same blue uniform as all the other engineers at the carnival did, but there was something different about him. He held himself as straight as a rod, every movement efficient and sharp. He wore glasses, golden-rimmed, and his shoes might be well-worn, they were clearly very high quality.
Money, she concluded with a surprise. You didn’t usually spot people with money doing jobs like this. He must enjoy it.
There was a lull in business around the time the engineer worked the Wack-A-Mole, so she had all the time in the world to send glances his way and check him out as he worked. He disappeared behind the machine for a while, but eventually he came back out, covered in grime and dirt and slightly sweaty. He wiped his hand over his forehead, still holding a wrench, and then he looked up and stared straight at her.
He looked eerily composed for someone who had just done some very dirty work. Something inside of Vex jumped to attention.
The engineer turned back to the guy running the Wack-A-Mole without saying anything and told him that there shouldn’t be any more problems with the machine. Vex made sure to busy herself at the till as they said their goodbyes, somehow knowing that he wouldn’t just leave. And she was right. Footsteps came up to her stand and halted, and when she looked up with her customer service smile, she found the handsome engineer.
“You must be bored,” he said. His voice was smooth and perfect, like whiskey down her throat. Lovely.
“It is rather quiet at the moment,” she replied, her smile fading into a more sincere one, “But the past half hour has been pretty entertaining.”
He smiled back. “You have a pretty intense stare.”
She leaned against the counter. “Being subtle is overrated, don’t you think?”
“Oh yes,” he said, “It has a time and a place.” He smiled again. “I’m Percy. I’d shake your hand, but…” He wiggled his grimy fingers. “Perhaps some other time.”
“I suppose we could do introductions without the traditional handshake,” Vex teased, “I’m Vex’ahlia.”
“Vex’ahlia,” he repeated, “Nice to meet you. You work with Gilmore?”
“Temporarily. He’s a friend. My brother and I own the bakery on sixth.”
“You didn’t get a spot with the stands?”
She shrugged. “Too many applicants. We’ll try again next year.”
“Shame. You make a mean cinnamon roll.”
Vex laughed. She was very proud of their cinnamon rolls. “You’re a fan, are you? I don’t remember seeing you around. I’m sure I would.”
He patted his head. “Is it the hair?”
He did have a very distinctive shock of white hair. But they’d already established her opinion on subtlety.
“That, and your face.”
He snorted and shot her a look. She just grinned back at him unabashedly.
“My sister usually picks them up,” he said, ignoring her compliment, “We have them for our Sunday brunch.”
Vex smiled. “What a lovely idea. We also have a great brioche every week. It makes for some really delicious French toast. Perfect for a brunch.”
He arched an eyebrow at her. “Are you trying to flirt me into spending more money, Vex’ahlia?”
She laughed and sent him a mischievous look. “I merely want you to have the best brunch experience as possible, Percy. We just happen to offer the best product.”
He looked her over and waved his finger at her. “You’re dangerous,” he concluded.
“Absolutely. But you don’t look like you scare easily.”
He grinned. “I do not.”
“Then I expect I’ll see you around.”
“You’d be wise to.”
“I am so wise.”
He came by every day after that. Usually, he just chatted her up during one of his shifts. His work took him everywhere around the carnival and he passed by her stand often enough to just have a brief moment to flirt with her. He was a good flirter. She was enjoying herself.
The first time he caught her doing her little act with Trinket in front of some kids, he hid his laughter behind a fist. It was busy, so he didn’t say anything at the time, but when he came back later that day he had a twinkle in his eye that told her that he hadn’t forgotten.
“You never introduced us,” he said as he approached.
Vex sighed, catching his meaning, and patted Trinket on his arm. “Do you hear that, buddy? We’ve made Percy question himself.”
“Well, the two of you are clearly very close.” Percy leaned against the counter, cocking his head at her. “A man can’t help but wonder if there’s a reason you didn’t want us to meet.”
She crossed her arms. “Not every guy gets to meet my pet bear.”
“You wound me.”
She laughed. Over the days, Percy had really made an impression on her. There was something about the way he looked at her, something sharp and perceptive, that made her feel seen in a way that she usually didn’t. Plus, he could dish it out as well as he took it. That was rare, in her experience.
She was called away to let some kids play the game and his gaze drifted over to the targets. Sometimes, when he watched someone play it, he started tapping his fingers against his thigh. There was a nervous energy to him when he watched someone shoot.
Vex smiled to herself and told Trinket that the girl was doing incredible. Once the child left with her prize, a plastic unicorn the size of a microwave, she sauntered back over to Percy.
“Just do it,” she said.
He turned his gaze on her. “Do what?”
She nodded to the game. “Give it a try. You clearly want to.”
He laughed.
She absolutely adored his laughter.
“It does seem fun,” he admitted, his eyes still twinkling joyfully.
“Well, go for it.” She winked at him. “Give me your money, Percy.”
“You won’t even give me a discount?”
“Percy, I am a businesswoman.”
He snorted and flexed his fingers, looking back at the targets. “Alright. Sure.” He dug into his pockets and pulled out some coins, depositing them in Vex’s outstretched hand. She put them in the till as he picked up the tiny plastic gun. It looked ridiculous in his large hands; a hilarious sight that she was trying not to laugh at. She didn’t want to break his concentration.
He weighed the thing in his hands for a second and then brought it up. His fingers flexed one more time. Then he pulled the trigger.
He hit the first target easily. “A strong start,” Vex told Trinket appreciatively.
His lips quirked up into a lop-sided smile, but he didn’t look away from the game. He shot again.
Hit.
Again.
Hit.
By this point, Vex was watching him with a bemused grin. He was good. Where did he get that kind of aim?
She checked the prize ratings to see what he was going to get if he kept this up.
He missed the next one and cursed, but Vex felt a rush of relief as she realised he wasn’t going to get a perfect score. She patted Trinket’s arm.
He hit the next three, then missed the last two. All in all, it was the best score anyone had gotten as of yet.
“Impressive,” she said as he put the plastic gun back down. She turned to the prizes to pull down an extensive embroidery set (unicorn-pattern included). “Much experience with fire arms?”
“In a way. I work at the paintball range just out of town.”
“Really?”
This man really loved to get down and dirty, huh?
She held out his prize to him. “That’s pretty cool. Is everyone there as good as you are?”
Percy tentatively took the embroidery set out of her hands, looking at it like it was a lost child he had no idea what to do with. “Not really. But they’re decent enough.”
She laughed at his expression and his blunt confidence. The sound of it drew his gaze back to her, and he sent her that enticing half-smile again.
“Well, I’m certainly impressed,” she told him, trying not to blush. Her heart skipped a beat whenever he smiled at her like that, and it was ridiculously embarrassing, even if he couldn’t tell.
Percy hummed and looked back at the game. “Don’t be impressed yet.”
She arched an eyebrow at him, but he didn’t give her an explanation. Instead, he got back to work, leaving her with a wave of his hand and a row of question marks on her mind, the embroidery set tucked underneath his arm. The question marks disappeared soon enough, because business picked up again after that.
Something in had changed, though. After that, he tried the game every day. He started hitting the fourth target pretty quickly, but the last two still eluded him. They were pretty challenging, and the little plastic gun clearly wasn’t his preferred weapon.
It was Vex’s favourite part of the day. Percy would come by, usually bringing her a drink or a snack or just a snarky comment about someone at the carnival, he’d hand her some cash and then he’d try the game. He didn’t get frustrated when he couldn’t hit everything, but he was never truly content with his work either. He just stared at the last two targets sometimes, cogs in his head clearly whirling, trying to figure out how to make this work. But he never stayed too long – he always got back to work right when he was supposed to. Percy was nothing if not punctual. Plus, he loved his work here. She could tell from the way he talked about it.
Vex was having the time of her life. Not even her brother’s teasing about Percy could dull her sheer joy.
Then one day, Percy hit the eighth target.
Vex couldn’t deny the way her stomach dropped when the squishy little ball hit the target. Percy looked better than he ever did, staring at it with a fire in his eyes that made him seem invincible. But Vex couldn’t focus on it, because she was too busy clutching the huge artificial bear beside her.
Percy brought up the gun again, and part of her wanted to call out for him to stop. Panic hit her like a freight train and she held her breath.
He missed.
Vex breathed out and tried to still her shaking fingers. Percy was frowning at the target, clearly discontent. She laughed to relieve some of her own tension.
“Don’t feel bad, darling,” she said, “The last one is a real killer. I think it was made to be impossible.”
“Nothing is impossible,” Percy said. He eyed the ninth target again, still holding the gun as if he might try again.
“Until when were you on break?” Vex asked quickly, “Five to? Because then you should be getting back to work.”
Percy nodded and put down the gun, turning to smile at her. “You’re right. I’ll see you tomorrow, Vex’ahlia.”
“Looking forward to it.”
She waved at him before he disappeared into the crowd. Then her smile dropped from her face.
She tried to shake off the tension in her neck and shoulders. She was doing customer service, for God’s sake. She had to look welcoming.
She plastered her smile back on and tried to forget.
She thought it worked right up until Percy came back the next day, a smile on his face and his money already in his hand. Immediately, her shoulders tensed up again.
She smiled back at him. “Back to give it another try, then?”
“I’m going to get it one of these days.”
“Oh, well… There’s only five days left. You might have to concede.”
Percy handed her the money, his eyes already on the targets. “Not I, Vex’ahlia. Not I.”
Vex’s heart was in her throat from the moment he picked up the gun to the second he put it back down. He still couldn’t hit the ninth target, but she was getting seriously nervous. He’d managed to go from hitting the first seven to the first eight in… What, three days? There were still five days of the carnival left. The ninth target was definitely the hardest to hit, but, contrary to what she said before, it wasn’t impossible. He just needed some seriously good aim and a healthy dose of luck.
She looked at her bear. She felt jittery and uncomfortable, like she’d had too much caffeine.
“Are you alright?” Percy asked, a worried frown between his eyes.
Vex almost jumped. “What? Yes. I’m fine.”
She was being short with him, but for some reason he was annoying her right then.
He didn’t seem to pick up on it. Instead, he just nodded and said his goodbyes before heading back out into the fray.
Vex couldn’t calm down for the rest of the day. She kept glancing at Trinket, standing beside her all big and strong and dependable. She wouldn’t admit to it, but she’d been secretly thinking about taking him home after the carnival was done. She was sure she could give Gilmore a fair price for him. After all, she was now at an age where she could indulge herself. She could have the huge bear plushie if she wanted to. She could take him if no one else did.
After her shift ended that night, she looked up Gilmore. She couldn’t help herself.
“Shaun,” she said, making her voice and smile as warm and inviting as possible.
He arched an eyebrow at her, already suspicious.
Vex dropped the act. She frowned. “Is there a way to make sure that no one wins the main prize?”
“What?”
She was about to repeat her question when he held up a hand to silence her. “That’s illegal, Vex. We’re not doing that.”
“But is there?” she pushed.
Gilmore sighed and stepped up to her, sending her one of his own signature dazzling grins. “Vex’ahlia. Darling. If you mess with the mechanics of my game, I will snap your neck like a twig.”
Vex repressed an angry pout and turned away from him. “I was just joking,” she snapped. She straightened out her shirt and left him.
The next few days, she had to physically restrain herself from biting her nails while on shift. The jittery energy she’d felt the day Percy hit the eighth target was a constant now. She kept bouncing her leg and rolling a coin between her fingers. She did breathing exercises to keep herself from rushing the customers, but she couldn’t help the turbulent river of nervousness that coursed through her own body. The sight of Percy’s white shock of hair in the crowd was no longer something that she looked forward to. Instead, every day she crossed her fingers that that day he’d be too busy to visit.
He never was, of course. No, he showed up every day, at a different moment, catching her off guard just as business lulled for a moment. First, she’d draw him into conversation, asking him about his work, his family, his hobbies, anything. She flirted excessively, trying to keep his attention fully occupied. But, about five minutes before his break would end, he’d hand her the money and pick up the gun.
She hated him a little bit in those moments. Couldn’t this guy take a fucking hint?
But he still hadn’t hit the ninth target by the time the last day of the carnival arrived. Vex dared to be a little hopeful. The odds were against him, at least, and she’d talked to Gilmore about taking Trinket home after the carnival. As long as they got through this day, her buddy would have a permanent place in her living room. But she hadn’t yet cleared out a spot. She didn’t have that kind of confidence yet.
When Percy came to the shooting stand that day, it felt like the moment that the entirety of these two weeks had led up to. She kind of felt like there should be a crowd for this. Someone should be paying attention, at least. Instead, everyone around them was just having their regular fun. Someone was cackling at the Wack-A-Mole stand. A mother was chastising her child for holding their ice-cream a little loosely. In the distance, they could hear the excited yelling of people on one of the more exciting rides.
Percy smiled at her as he gave her the money for the game. “One more try,” he said conspiratorially.
Vex forced a laugh that sounded hollow to her own ears, clutching the money in her hands.
She refused to hold onto Trinket as Percy picked up the gun. Instead, she crossed her arms, hunching her shoulders a little. She felt small, and she hated it. She hated that she cared about this. She hated that she couldn’t talk about it.
She was six years old again, walking past that carnival game just to steal another glance.
Percy hit the first five targets easily. He moved in a smooth line now, quick as a dancer. He was beautiful.
He took a breath before he hit the sixth. Took a second. Hit the seventh. The eighth.
Vex’ahlia held her breath. Her heart was racing. For some reason, fight or flight was kicking in, and she had the incredible urge to break something. She wanted to punch his pretty face.
Percy angled the gun. He moved his hand a hairbreadth. Settled.
Vex followed the little ball with her eyes as it shot towards the ninth target. She watched it sail right into it with an audible plop.
Bells went off. She was pretty sure a confetti gun covered the entire place in colourful paper. She didn’t care.
Tears rushed into her eyes. She was six years old, and she had to walk past the carnival stand. She had to give up the bear.
She looked up and caught the tail-end of an adorable dorky victory dance that Percy was doing. He had a grin on his face that could light up the night sky.
She turned away quickly, palming at her eyes to get rid of the tears. She took a deep breath.
She was twenty-seven. It was time to give up the bear.
“Congratulations!” she said, turning back to Percy with a smile.
His grin had faded into a content smirk. “I knew I could do it. I just had to get it right.”
“It’s a real feat.”
She tried to keep her voice peppy. Percy was a good guy. She liked Percy. It was just a bear.
He was basking in his own satisfaction. “Can I come pet him?” he asked her, a tease to his voice.
Vex forced a laugh and waved him over to the stand’s entry point. “Of course. He’s all yours.”
Percy entered the stand and stepped up into her space since the first time she met him. He was a little taller than she was, and he smelled like oil and caramel apples. He had her favourite smile on his face, but she couldn’t enjoy it.
She turned her face away and led him to Trinket. “Here he is! The man himself.”
“An honour to finally meet you,” Percy said, patting Trinket’s paw with his hand.
Vex bit her cheek.
“So,” Percy said casually, glancing at her, “What are you going to do with him?”
She blinked slowly. “What?”
“The bear,” Percy said, “Where are you going to put him? He’s pretty big.”
“Where am I going to put him?”
“Well, yes.” Percy turned his body towards her and crossed his arms, smiling down at her. His eyes had a boyish glint to them. “I’m not going to separate a lady from her pet bear. What do you take me for?”
Vex needed another few moments to wrap her head around what he was telling her. “What? You… What, you’re… You’re… Wait, you’re giving me the bear? You won it.”
“I think you’ll give him a better home than I would. Besides, isn’t this customary? Winning a prize for your date?”
“You…” Vex’ahlia let out a laugh. All of the tension she’d accumulated dispersed in one cackling bout of laughter. When she finally wiped the tears from her eyes, Percy was looking at her a little weird, although not at all displeased.
“I didn’t know we were on a date,” she said finally. Her hand reached for Trinket instinctively, and when she touched him, she knew that she could finally take him home.
She was twenty-seven. This bear was hers.

RDR2 Boys at an Amusement Park
For @viperfizz... Thank you for the suggestion, I loved writing this one!!
Arthur
An amusement park just means a county fair to him. Ain’t no way he’s going to Six Flags or Great America
Okay, that’s a lie, he’d probably go if you begged him to but he wouldn’t be much fun
Total “buy a soda, sit down, and watch everyone else have all the fun” type of guy (but is that really fun?)
You try to take a picture with one of those people in costume and he looks miserable
That being said, he would have fun at a county fair!
He likes that they have animal shows, local business booths, and simpler rides and games
He does his best to try everything but probably gets tired after a couple hours
Spends most of his time after that in the petting zoo or trying all the free samples from food booths
The gang makes him hold all of their stuff… He didn’t win most of it, but he’s carrying around all of Sadie’s prizes, Tilly’s cotton candy bucket and Dutch’s jacket, as well as everything else
Poor guy
S u n s e t F e r r i s W h e e l P i c t u r e s
John
Gets stopped by security on the way in for something stupid like trying to hide a water bottle in his pants
Doesn’t care much for rides but will go on them just because he doesn’t want to waste his ticket
He doesn’t mind the haunted house rides, though, despite usually having to go by himself or with Arthur
If he’s not on a ride, he’s walking around and nobody can ever find him
Abigail makes him take Jack on all the kiddy rides and lowkey he’s not that mad about it because they’re actually pretty fun and it means he doesn’t have to bother with doing anything else
Jack is happy because John gets them a bunch of popcorn and fried food to share after, too
Literally awful at all of the mini games
Challenges Arthur to one of those High Striker strength tests and loses
He’s problematic because he 100% would go to Seaworld
Any souvenir he buys is probably just candy
Definitely falls asleep on the way home
Charles
Funnel cake and candy apple enthusiast
If the park is crowded, he’s the only one who’s ever able to find a place to sit
Probably doesn’t go on many of the scary rides
He’s down for water rides and the pirate swing, though
And laser tag if they have it
Can beat anyone’s ass at bumper cars
If it’s Charles and Arthur against anyone, they better hope that they go easy
Also probably pretty good at most of the mini games, too
He’s the one walking home with a giant plushie he got from playing Skee-Ball (Sadie and Karen have one, too)
The only souvenir he buys is a keychain with his name on it
The gang probably clowns him for it smh
Everyone is too tired at the end of the day so he has to drive home
Honestly, just take him to a boardwalk where he can sit on the beach
Micah
A n n o y i n g
Goes on the scariest ride just so he can brag about being fearless
Also probably buys one of those shirts that’s like “I Survived The Ass Crusher Roller Coaster”
Will try to force you to go with him even if you cry
His favorite type of ride are those old, wooden coasters just because they’re rickety and scary (like him)
Big fan of the gross amusement park food because he’s nasty
Likes all that stuff like fried Oreos, spiral potatoes, and Texas donuts.
Scares kids… probably has to tell at least three different families he wasn’t trying to creep on them and that he’s at the park with his friends
He’s being honest, but the whole gang is like “Uh, we don’t claim him”
Spends like an hour in the gift shop only to buy nothing
Almost gets left behind for it
Hosea
Spends too much time looking at a map of the park and trying to plan out what everyone should do
The gang’s all left by the time he’s finished thinking about it
His favorite amusement park snack is a chocolate-dipped, vanilla ice cream cone
Probably ends up eating like five of them over the course of one day
His reasoning is that he’s “on vacation”
Most likely to throw up if he goes on a ride that goes upside down
His amusement park outfit consists of a straw hat, Hawaiian shirt, khakis, and sandals
Lowkey everyone is embarrassed to be around him dressed like that
Forgets his sunscreen and comes home burnt to a crisp
And when it heals, he has a sandal tan
Has to do a headcount both before and after they go to the park just to make sure he hasn’t lost anyone
“I’m Hosea”
Dutch
Did someone say carnival? No? Yes you did
Likes the merry-go-round and swing rides because he’s a child
The only one to go on the wooden roller coasters with Micah
Honestly, actually the only one to go on rides with Micah
Buys shitty cocktails from the one beach-theme stand at the park and thinks he’s classy for it (even though they’re just margaritas with crazy straws)
Will buy a sweatshirt with the amusement park’s logo on it and wear it the entire time he’s there
It’s either that or a Hawaiian shirt with pineapples on it
He also buys any and all photos of the gang on rides even if they’re $15 each
Probably the guy who wears his hat and sunglasses on Splash Mountain just to pose while Hosea, Arthur, and John are all screaming behind him
Makes a stranger take a photo of the group at the end of the day that doesn’t even fit everyone in the screen and ends up being blurry
“If lost, return to Hosea”
Kieran
Amusement park TRASH
He can and will have fun on anything
One second he’s on a ride with upside down turns and loops, and the next he’s on teacups, and then straight back to drop tower after that
If the amusement park is large, he probably has a game plan of how to do the most in one single day
100% buys dippin’ dots, popcorn and an extra large, souvenir slushee cup with a bendy straw that he uses for the rest of the year
Goes nuts if there’s an arcade section and wins just about a million tickets
Probably doesn’t even cash them in for prizes either and gives them all away
If at Disney, he makes everyone stay for the parade
And yes, he’s wearing Mickey Mouse ears and a lanyard with pins on it
Probably buys a snow globe as a souvenir
Please go with him
Javier
He’s the one who brings lunch from home just so he doesn’t have to buy expensive carnival food
He ends up having to share most of it with the gang
Is the only one who can successfully sneak things past security
Catch him walking in with a sandwich, ten bottles of water, and an entire pack of granola bars
His favorite ride is always the gondola ride that takes you across the park in the air
He likes the drop tower, too
Like Dutch, he also poses for pictures on rides
The only one who isn’t embarrassed to take photos with the mascots
Arthur has about a thousand photos of him with a bunch of random characters
Also the only one who doesn’t forget sunscreen
The gang has to beg him to share his
He isn’t horrible at mini games, but he’s better at some of them than others
For example, terrible at the water gun squirting, but good at ring toss
He always gets at least one prize, even if it’s small

Romantic analogical going to the fair or something maybe? -Skull anon(I have a feeling I know what this is for and I am very Happy :3)
this is exactly what you think it’s for! (presuming you think it’s for your birthday, in which case, yes!! happy birthday i hope you like it!!!)
• they go with their friends Roman and Patton and almost immediately lose them
“Should we go look for them?” Virgil asks worriedly. Logan hesitates.
“They have their phones with them,” Logan decides. “If they need us or vice versa, we can text or call each other.”
“Good point,” Virgil agrees, and pulls Logan over to the nearest roller coaster.
• Despite what some may assume due to his anxiety, Virgil loves roller coasters. Logan is,,, less fond of them.
“C’mon, please?” Virgil wheedles. “I don’t wanna ride alone.”
“My glasses,” Logan says. “I don’t want them to fly off or break or anything.”
“Not a problem,” Virgil tells him, rifling through his hoodie pockets and pulling out a glasses strap. “If a coaster’s intense enough that you need to take off your glasses with these on them, then we can just not ride it.”
“Oh,” Logan says, touched. “Thank you, Virgil.” He adjusts his glasses. “That’s very considerate.”
“No problem.” Virgil smiles at him. “Want help putting this on and adjusting it?” He waves the strap.
“If you would.”
• They ride coasters for a few hours before getting food, and then Logan insists they wait a bit before going on any more rides, so they wander around and look in the gift shops and stuff.
Logan squints. “Is that...”
“What?” Virgil looks over to where Logan’s staring. “Oh. Yeah, that’s them.”
Roman is sitting on a bench, clutching his stomach, as Patton flits between hovering over him and saying something to a park worker cleaning up something nearby.
“Yo, idiot!” Virgil shouts, striding over to them. “Tell me you didn’t eat a bunch of fair food and then ride a roller coaster.”
“Are we ignoring the fact that you would’ve done just that if I hadn’t stopped you?” Logan mutters, walking after him.
“Shh, let me heckle Roman.” Virgil grins.
“Oh! Hi, guys!” Patton says, smiling at them. “Roman’s, uh.”
“Suffering,” Roman moans dramatically. “I may never step foot on a roller coaster again.”
“You mean you wouldn’t go ride the next roller coaster we come across if I paid for your ticket?” Virgil asks.
“Let’s not be hasty now,” Roman says, sitting up straighter. “Free rides are nothing to smirk at, Virgil, wipe that grin off your face I know what you’re doing.”
• Roman does end up riding the coaster they come across, since Virgil pays for it (Logan and Patton opt to sit out and catch up on what the other had been doing), but after that then they take a break from rides and play some carnival games.
“Roman,” Patton deadpans, grabbing his arm and halting the group. “Look over there.” He points. There’s a booth - some kind of throwing or shooting game, it looks like - with a bunch of giant stuffed animals hanging as prizes. “There’s a cat one,” Patton whispers fervently.
Roman puffs himself up and strides over to the booth, Patton hopping after excitedly.
“Roman knows many of these games are rigged and he will likely fail to win anything, much less one of the giant stuffed animals, right?” Logan asks, even as he eyes the unicorn one (it looks very soft, okay?).
“Yeah, but Patton wants one,” Virgil points out.
Logan sighs. “Ah, yes.”
• They give Roman five tries before Logan steps up and wins spectacularly, twice, and gets the cat for Patton and the unicorn for himself.
“I had it,” Roman pouts. “I just needed one more try, two at the most, and I would’ve won.”
“Yes, I’m sure,” Logan placates him absently, squeezing the unicorn and appreciating the feel of it against him. It is very soft, as he predicted, and not overly heavy, and very good for holding.
“Psst, Lo,” Virgil whispers. “Can I borrow your unicorn for a sec?”
“May I ask why you want it? Also why you’re whispering?”
“You’ll see,” Virgil says cryptically. “And because I want to.”
“Fair enough.” Logan shrugs and hands him the unicorn. Virgil shuffles it around in his arms until it’s facing away from him, the head falling on its chest. Virgil clumsily sets the horn on Logan’s right shoulder, then the left, then on top of his head.
“I knight you,” Virgil proclaims, grinning goofily, “the best, smartest boyfriend ever.”
Logan melts, beaming softly back at his boyfriend. “I’m honored. If I may?” He gestures towards the unicorn. Virgil hands it over, and Logan passes it to Patton and kisses Virgil soundly.
• They eat dinner a little while later, because they’ve been there long enough for that, and wander around some more until they reach the ferris wheel.
“We’ve got to ride it!” Roman tells them. “It’s like the rule. You go to the fair, you ride the ferris wheel.”
None of them don’t want to ride it, so they all agree. They’ve accumulated enough stuff - Logan’s unicorn and Patton’s cat, Roman had gotten a few knickknacks as pity prizes from the game, they’d all gotten a handful of candy from here and there, Virgil had found a nice pair of earrings in a gift shop - that someone needs to stay behind to watch it, and since no one wants to ride alone Logan and Virgil stay back together as Roman and Patton take their turn on the wheel.
“Five bucks says they kiss at the top,” Virgil bets Logan.
“Are you kidding?” Logan asks. “Besides the fact that we’d have no way to verify if they kiss or not unless they were to tell us, they’re both hopeless romantics. Of course they’re going to kiss at the top.”
• Roman and Patton come down grinning widely and take over stuff-watching duty, and it’s Logan and Virgil’s turn to ride the ferris wheel.
Virgil wonders idly if he should kiss Logan at the top. Like he’d said, it’s a hopeless romantic move, and while Virgil might not be one, he is completely in love with Logan, and that feels close enough.
Then they’re at the top, and Logan is staring out at the amusement park below them and the sky around them - sun mostly set and a hint of stars starting to creep out and a really brilliant view - with such a look of wonder that Virgil has to just sit back and try to memorize his expression.
Then Logan turns that expression on him and Virgil is very, very gay.
“Are you looking at this?” Logan asks, eyes glittering brightly. “Isn’t it stunning?”
“Absolutely,” Virgil agrees.
Logan squints at him. “Are you talking about me or the view?”
“You.” Virgil grins at Logan’s squawk and blush. “The view is pretty too, though.”
• After the ferris wheel, they’re all pretty tired, so they wander back towards the entrance and pile into Logan’s car to drive back home. Roman fall asleep almost immediately after the car starts rolling, and Patton carries him inside once they reach home. Logan and Virgil grab the candy and the cotton candy that Patton insisted on wrapping up and saving for later, and decide the rest of the stuff they got can sit a night in the car.
They put up the food and get ready for bed and then curl up in bed next to each other and fall asleep, the lingering happiness from the full day turning into content.

Where Athena/Simon/Juniper would take their S/Os for a first date? Like, It would be at somewhere fancy or it would be somewhere more silent? :0
——
characters: athena cykes, simon blackquill, juniper woods
warnings: none
genre: fluff
[requests are open, rules are pinned]
——
{athena cykes}
Athena prefers nontraditional dates! Especially for your first date. She doesn’t want to do something “boring” like just going and getting dinner somewhere.
So she suggests going to a carnival that’s in town! Something that’s fun, and somewhere where you aren’t just sitting and talking the whole time.
She’s very energetic and hates sitting for really long periods of time, hence why she chose a carnival!
Is eager to do everything there that she can, so she wants to get there super early! Then you also have the whole night to spend together.
She is absolutely amazing at carnival games so she is totally going to win you some prizes!
Like those comically large stuffed animals? Yeah, she’s won you at least three of them.
But she just loves playing the games with you! She’ll also coach you through some of the games and how to win nearly every time.
Also loves carnival food!
She’ll buy you a bunch of fair food. Cotton candy, funnel cake, kettle corn. All of it! She has quite the sweet tooth-
When the sun starts setting, Athena pulls you towards the ferris wheel to watch the sunset from the top.
And once you are at the top, she tells you how much fun she had with you tonight.
Then, she places a quick, loving kiss on your lips.
——
{simon blackquill}
Simon is very out of his league when it comes to dating. He doesn’t really know what exactly’s best for a first date, so he just tries to go with something rather generic.
Most likely, he’ll ask you out to dinner at the Whet Soba. He believes that the best thing to do on a date is to go somewhere where you can talk and get to know each other better.
He doesn’t like overly fancy places, but also wants to treat you to some good food. And the best place that he knows that fits that bill is the Whet Soba.
He goes to the restaurant quite frequently, so ask him about anything on the menu! He’ll suggest a few things that he enjoys and will recommend things that he thinks you’d enjoy.
Really just wants to talk to you, get to know you better (if he doesn’t know you well enough already) and spend some quality time together!
He’ll pay, and don’t even think about trying to pay. He won’t let you. He asked you out so he’s going to pay!
After dinner, he takes you on a walk around town just to talk slightly more. In all honesty, he just doesn’t want the night to end! He’s honestly having a really nice time!
He totally like,, picks some random flower on the side of the sidewalk and puts it in your hair. He can be very cheesy at times.
When you’re both ready to head your separate ways, you place a light kiss on his cheek and tell him what a nice time you had.
He blushes, but thanks you for even agreeing in the first place to go out with him.
He goes home that night with a smile on his face, happy that someone like you is in his life.
——
{juniper woods}
Juniper prefers more silent dates! Being in loud, crowded places make her slightly uncomfortable.
She more or less lets you plan the date and where you would like to go because dating is not her area of expertise. She has no experience when it comes to dating.
So you plan it, and ask her on a simple nature hike date and picnic in the forest.
She’s beyond excited for it! She already enjoys being in the woods, but being in the woods with you? It’s like two good things coming together!
You take her to one of your favorite parks and find a place to set up your little picnic there.
She brings a LOT of food. She loves preparing and making food for others, so she makes a bunch of cute little sandwiches and snacks for the two of you to enjoy!
Compliment! Her! Cooking! She will blush like crazy but it means the world to her!!
When you’ve finished eating, you pack up your basket and just walk around the park.
She shyly grabs your hand while you’re walking. Her face is beet red as she looks away from you, almost embarrassed by grabbing your hand.
But when you interlace your fingers with hers, some of her nerves go away. And she loves the feeling of holding your hand.
As the two of you walk more, she feels all of her nerves ease away and it’s replaced by a nice, happy feeling.
She’d be lying if she said she didn’t have an amazing night with you.

Carnival Competition
Rating: K
Modern AU
Summary: Shingen and Kenshin are going to Osaka carnival to see who can win the most games at the carnival.
The carnival's in town as everyone from all over the land of the rising sun go to one of the most underrated festivals in the land; Osaka Carnival. The fun games, great food, and amazing rides that it had was all in good fun for everyone to enjoy. Once Shingen heard for himself that the carnival was going to be in town tomorrow, he just had to call Kenshin to join him for the carnival. He was disappointed that he didn't show up last year, then again they weren't dating at the time. Maybe this year would go in his favor? He and Kenshin could at least compete in the games, kinda like a battlefield? Shingen was in Osaka for a quick vacation and the carnival would be the top of the cake. With that in mind, Shingen picked up the phone and began to text to Kenshin.
Shingen: My stoic dragon "nemesis", are you still awake?
Kenshin was comfortable on his futon at his Castle, just starting to head off to bed and sending a quick prayer to Bishamonten to thank the god of war for allowing him the pleasures of life. There was wine, business, and finally Shingen. Shingen was probably one of the most worthy friend and business partner he could ask for in this life. Although he didn't show much happiness on his stoic face, his actions show that he cares for him, especially when he accepted to be Shingen’s boyfriend. Speaking of Shingen… 'Bing Bing'. Kenshin heard his phone go off. "It is almost time to go to bed… Who's texting me?" He said, visibly annoyed. He picked up his phone and once he saw the message, he softened a little bit. It was Shingen.
Kenshin: Tiger of Kai, my "nemesis", I was about to go to bed, but I can talk for a bit.
Shingen gave a good-natured chuckle at Kenshin's message sent a couple of minutes later. Of course he forgot that Kenshin would be getting to bed around this time.
Shingen: Sorry about that, I was hoping maybe this year we can go to the carnival together. Think of it as a date.
"A date?" He mouthed to himself. When was the last time they had a date together? It had been a while. They were both taking it slowly so they wouldn't be discovered and to have it at a carnival, that everyone was going to…
Kenshin: Are you sure you want me to go?
Shingen was not giving up on making him go to the carnival. They were always competitive when it came to the games. A lightbulb went off in his head. He can use the games as an excuse for him to go.
Shingen: I bet I can win a lot more games than you. Don't worry I'll give you some prizes :)
Shingen always knew how to push Kenshin's competitiveness button. They both were like strategists in their own businesses but eventually one must come on top eventually. He really now was interested in this carnival but he would conceal his intentions to him.
Kenshin: It is tempting to go to the festival to have a friendly competition. Go have fun. Good night "nemesis"
Shingen shrugged at his message. At least he tried to convince him to go. At the back of his head, he did feel that Kenshin would come here. He just had that hunch.
Shingen: Good night. Don't have a rough night.
As soon as he got Shingen’s message, Kenshin got dressed again, called his limo driver, and took a blanket. He would now begin to surprise Shingen to the festival date. "Shingen, let's see who wins the most games." he thought with confidence. They always liked competitive plays over each other. He just thought of what kind of games would be there to play as the limo left with him inside, going to Osaka, as he drifted to sleep.
~The next morning- 8 AM~
Shingen saw the shining sun glimmer in the curtains as morning came and he was just starting to wake up from the tiger's slumber. This short bald man yawned as he sat up in the bed, slowly getting his act together. It was also very hot today when the festival and vacation was in the summer. He could only imagine what the south had to deal with like the Shimazu in the summer. After 10 minutes of just sitting there, he finally got up to brighten the room. The curtains opened and Shingen shielded his eyes from the brightness a bit. Once it got adjusted, he finally saw a limo in front of the hotel. It had the Uesugi symbol on the side and the limo was white. He could see Kenshin come out the doors. "Hahaha, I knew Kenshin would be here!" Shingen said to himself. He put on a tiger print t-shirt with some khaki shorts and some sandals.
Kenshin walked out of the limo with a nice short sleeved buttoned white shirt with white pants with some nice black loafers. He was casually sleeping the whole ride so he would be well rested for today. Carnivals are mostly energy sucking. The driver let him know he's here so he doesn't have to rest during the day. "Great Bishamonten, please give me strength to have fun today and beat Shingen in a whole bunch of games." He prayed. They both met in the lobby and gave a hug. "Haha, I knew you would come. So are you ready for the carnival?" Shingen asked. Kenshin gave a small smile and nodded. "I am. Looking at the clock means that it had just started." Said Kenshin as he looked at the clock which read 9:00A.M.
Looking out at the carnival laid out before them, it was full of life and high fun energy. Many games, food stands and other attractions can be seen before them. People were walking around them full of laughter and friendly talk. You can't really hear what they had to say because there were so many people and they were loud. Shingen and Kenshin simply walked side by side together holding pinkies looking out at what games they should play.
The first game they saw was kinda strange with a huge log and there were lines in the ground. Musashi was actually the one hosting that game. "Hey you two! Do you want to try the log toss? 1 yen to try it and the rules are clearly read on the sign." He managed to get Shingen and Kenshin's attention. "You want to have a go Kenshin?" Asked Shingen. "Sure" said Kenshin blatantly.
They both walk up to the wooden sign. It was well made with no chances that anyone can get a splinter and it looked really smooth for writing on as shown in words that are painted on. It says the following:
Log toss:
'You throw a log as far as you can. This can be played for competition. If you are solo, you win a prize no matter what. If you are against each other, then the winner gets a prize.'
Shingen was known to do some lifting at the gym sometimes, Kenshin watched him while he worked so he knew as well. They've decided to do the competition version. The prizes included stuffed animals, posters and pins. Shingen went first as he went and picked it up by the sides then he spinned around a few times getting ready for the wind up. He threw it up and away pretty far and it landed with a thud and the ground shaked a bit. Musashi ran to where the log went with a measuring tape and a flag. "150 feet-1st person!" Musashi announced. Kenshin smiled at Shingen’s impressive performance. It was as expected for him as was a worthy challenge for Kenshin to try to beat.
"You're next Kenshin." Shingen said as he stood back with a smirk, a smirk that Kenshin loved a lot. "I have practiced a bit in lifting." Kenshin remarked as he picked up the log. He winded up by standing back a bit then using the force that he gathered to launch the log forward as he stepped forward. It flew not as high as Shingen did but it definitely was going far. There was a thud in the distance and Musashi was running fast with the other marker. "Not bad! It's about… 160 feet. The second person wins!" Musashi announced happily as he went to pick out a prize. Kenshin kissed Shingen on the forehead proud of his own victory. "Well done 'nemesis'." Shingen said, congratulating him. Musashi gave Kenshin a big tiger plush. 'It would be perfect for Shingen.' Kenshin thought.
Many hours go by with more prizes, food, the times they went through a funhouse and a haunted house in a succession while holding many little toys, pins, posters, more stuffed animals. It was a lot to carry for a long time, then again they had played lots of games. Games were ring toss, balloon pop, guess what's approximately in the jar, bumper cars, test your strength, and many other games.
It was the last few minutes of the carnival to be open for the day. There was one more game they wanted to try for a magnificent dragon plush. Shingen was immediately reminded of Kenshin when he saw that plush. "Kenshin! Before we go let's try this game!" They both look at the bucket of water with ducks floating right along. The sign read the following:
Lucky Duck:
'You hook a duck on the hook stick provided to you. Get a star duck (which the star is on the bottom) to win any prize you want.'
"This game sounds simple and quick." Kenshin remarked. "You can do this game." Said Kenshin as he gave the game owner 1 yen to play the game.
Shingen concentrated on the pond itself like a fire trying to get hotter by the minute. Any of those ducks could have a star on the bottom and any number of the ducks could have stars. They all looked the same. All he could do would be to guess which one had the star and which ones didn't. He took the hook stick on the ground and just went for it, eyes closed. When he opened them again, he looked underneath the duck and a gold star was at the bottom. He won the game and the dragon. "This is great!" thought Shingen as he got the dragon in his hands.
As Shingen turned he saw Kenshin take the tiger plush out of the mass of prizes they won and handed it out like it was a gift for him. Shingen saw a slight blush on Kenshin's stoic face. "So umm… this is for you 'nemesis'." Kenshin said in a softer voice than usual. Shingen laughed out of kindness a little, knowing that Kenshin wasn't used to the sometimes sweet moments of their relationship. "Thank you 'nemesis'. In return, I will give you this dragon I just won." Shingen blushed a little bit as he received the tiger and Kenshin received the dragon. They soon divided all of the prizes in between them. Shingen’s vacation would go on and Kenshin would join in for the last week that Shingen had left.

Note: The city where Shiro and Keith live is called Springdale. I’d pictured both of these towns being in the Carolinas. Again, there are tense changes everywhere (sorry) but I plan to fix them later.
Thank you for all the great feedback!!
part one | part two | part three | part four | part five
.
Lance woke up surprisingly early on Saturday. Today they were headed to the fair. He brewed coffee and made a tentative battle plan for the day: walk around, see stalls, a few rides, some games, lunch, maybe renting a scooter to drive up to lookout hill to watch the sunset. It was the perfect opportunity for Lance to stop dancing around the issue and just tell Keith he’s in to him already.
Pidge pokes fun at him through breakfast as Lance makes a group text thread with everyone. They agree to meet up at the south entrance of the fairgrounds at 10:30.
Lance ends up making them late by spending too much time picking out his clothes. Keith and Shiro are both sporting a little pink on their noses and cheekbones from the sun on the beach the day before, but they’re all smiles as they pay for their wrist bands and head into the fair. It’s a typical American county fair ordeal, with rickety rented rides, badly rigged carnival games, and endless booths of cheap nick-nacks and fried foods. But there was always something about the Harborville fair that set it apart. There was an energy here, like the last bang of summer before cool autumn weather swept down the coast.
They buy tokens and move as a group at first, taking a lap around the fair before splitting up. Pidge and Hunk stick together as always, Allura drags Shiro off at a rather brisk pace, and that left Lance and Keith.
“Anything you wanna do?” Lance asks him.
Keith shrugs and smiles. “Anything’s good.”
They walk around for a while, stopping at booths here and there. They run into other members of their group from time to time, and Lance uses his phone to film bits of a vlog for later editing, catching Shiro and Keith in a few bits (“I’m here with my good friends Shiro and Keith! Say hi guys!”). Lance buys an inaugural funnel cake to split with Keith before hitting the prize games. Keith rolls his eyes as Lance goes for the ring toss, a game he swears up and down he’s mastered despite it being horribly rigged.
“Just you watch,” Lance tells Keith as he lines up a ring. “I’m gonna win you the biggest stuffed animal they have, and then you’ll understand my prowess.”
He swears Keith’s cheeks go red as he smiles. “Well, have fun. I’m gonna grab a soda.”
Lance is half disappointed and half relieved that Keith is no longer watching. So of course, when the guy he’s trying to impress leaves, Lance lands all three rings on a pole. He’s carefully eyeing the selection of stuffed prizes when Shiro appears at his left, seemingly out of thin air.
“You know,” he leans in a speaks close to Lance’s ear. “Hippos are Keith’s favorite animal.”
Lance turns to look up at him, confused, before Shiro gives him a knowing smile and walks away. Hippos? Okay, weird, but also kind of cute. When Lance re-examines the prizes, he spots a large pastel blue hippo near the back, with big button eyes, exaggerated stitching, and a white bow around its neck.
“That one,” he tells the game attendant, pointing.
Keith comes trotting back with a soda in each hand a few minutes later. He stops short when Lance comes up to him with the prize hippo in his arms, easily the size of a dog. Keith’s eyes go wide.
“Told you I’d win,” Lance beams, then holds out the stuffed animal. “Here you go.”
There’s an awkward shuffle as Lance takes the sodas so Keith can take the hippo, and Lance absolutely notices how Keith hugs it to his chest.
“Thanks,” Keith tells him, and his cheeks are pink in a way that has nothing to do with his sunburn.
Keith keeps holding the stuffed animal as they walk around, earning him a few stares. Lance has to admit he looks adorable - all sharp and intense, holding a giant fluffy toy like it’s precious treasure. They find the Racho Alegre food truck and Lance buys enough food for five people, setting the trays of empanadas, pork tamales, fried yucca fruit, papas rellenas and fried green plantains. He films a little, too, Keith protesting with a “don’t film me eating!” Lance passes Keith a mate soda and instructs him on how to properly enjoy Cuban food, and is pleased when Keith seems to enjoy all of it.
He might like the guy, a lot, but if Keith had ended up hating the food he grew up with? It might have been a deal breaker.
They chat at the picnic table for a good half hour as they digested, then walk around some more, Lance filming on his phone here and there. He spots the scooter rental place nearby, and eagerly points at it. But when they get closer, he frowns.
“Aw man,” Lance bemoans. “I was thinking it’d be cool to drive up to the hill to watch the air show, but all the scooters are rented out.”
Keith raises an eyebrow. “They’re not? There’s a whole bunch lined up.”
Lance shrugs. “Yeah, but those are the 50cc engine ones. You need a motorcycle license for those.”
“Yeah?” Keith looks unruffled. “I have one.”
Lance hears a record scratch in his brain. “You do?”
With a chuckle, Keith motions him towards the rental desk. “Who do you think test drives the bikes when Shiro’s done with them?”
Lance held the hippo, which he’d dubbed Blue, while Keith filled out paperwork, showing his motorcycle ID and insurance card. Lance caught a glimpse of it, and cooed.
“Aww, short hair!” He smiled at the photo of a younger Keith, scowling at the camera, and noticed two things: first, Keith didn’t have a middle name, and second, there were little tufts of what might be considered a mullet sticking out from behind his neck.
Keith shoved his ID back into his wallet. “Is your photo any better?”
“Actually,” Lance pulled his wallet from his back pocket and produced his driver’s license. “It is.”
Lance was proud of that picture - he was one of the only people he knew that actually took good ID photos. It was like a superpower. Keith was staring at his ID, his eyebrows raised.
“Leandro Sebastian McClain?” He asked.
“Uh.” Lance’s face flushed hot. “Old family name. Lance is kind of a nickname.”
Keith’s smile as he handed the ID back was magical. “Cool.”
Helmets secured, Lance climbed on the back of the dinged-up rental bike behind Keith as he started up the engine, giving him quick directions to the hill that overlooked the bay. Then, with Blue shoved between them, Lance wrapped his arms around Keith’s middle. They took off, and Lance felt a surge of adrenaline as they rode. He could count on one hand the number of times he’d been on a real motorcycle, and it was as scary as it was exhilarating. It was also cold, even the warmth of the sun unable compete with the wind that whipped past them. Lance hugged Keith tighter, wishing there wasn’t a stuffed animal between them.
It took a good ten minutes to drive up to the hill, and by the time they arrived, the wind had all but chilled Lance to the bone. The weather was beautiful that day, but it was a different story when you were going 45 miles an hour. His t-shirt and loose button up had done nothing to protect him, and as they reached the hill and stepped off the bike and took off their helmets, Lance set Blue on the bike seat and rubbed at his frozen, goosebump covered arms.
“You okay?” Keith asked.
“Yeah,” Lance laughed a little. “Just kinda cold. Wind’s kinda brutal at that speed.”
Keith blinked at him. “Oh.” Then, like they were in a movie, he removed his leather jacket and deftly swung it around Lance’s shoulders, patting it against his arms. “There, that better?”
Lance willed himself not to melt, because holy shit. That was the most suave thing he’d ever seen. Keith was one seriously smooth bastard. He caught of whiff of the scent coming off the warm leather and blushed hard. It smelled so good.
“Y-yeah,” he stuttered, letting his fingers grip the edge of the jacket and pull it close.
They sat on a patch of grass nearby just as the air show was beginning. Keith watched with rapt attention as the jets performed aerial acrobatics, leaving bright trails of colored smoke that twisted through the sky. When it was over, Keith sighed beside him.
“I wanted to be a pilot,” he said, his gaze fixed on the sky where the sun was beginning to dip towards the horizon.
Lance bumped his shoulder. “You still can be,” he said. “A pilot’s license can’t be that hard to get.”
Keith looked at the ground, shaking his head with a wry smile. “No, I mean… I wanted to be a fighter pilot. In the navy, or the air force.” He picked at a blade of grass. “But I wasn’t exactly cut out for it.”
“What do you mean?” Lance asked carefully.
Keith shrugged and leaned back on his hands. “I’m a high school dropout with a juvenile record,” he explained. “I’ve gotten my shit straightened out since then, but… that stuff sticks.”
Lance frowned. He was starting to realize just how little he knew about Keith - they talked a lot, but it was all superficial information. He didn’t know anything about Keith’s past, or his ambitions.
“It’s fine,” Keith said, interrupting Lance’s train of thought. “I can’t really complain about my life. I’ve got Shiro, I like working on bikes, and I enjoy my job. I’ve got it pretty good.”
Lance was glad to hear that, but it made him frown for a different reason. “Sounds like you’ve got it figured out. I have no idea what I’m gonna do.”
Keith hummed in questioning, and Lance let go of where he was clutching the jacket to wave his hand. “I’ve just been sort of… coasting for the last two years. I have no idea what I’m doing.” he chewed his lip. “YouTube is fun and all, but my dad keeps asking me what my career plans are, and I have no clue. I can’t just work cafe jobs forever, and Pidge is probably leaving after she graduates in a few months. I don’t even know where I’m gonna end up living.” He rubbed at his eyes.
Keith was quiet for a long time. “What about music?” he offered. Lance shrugged.
“Dunno if I want to go down that road,” he answered. “Being a musician is really unpredictable, unreliable. I doubt I could swing it.”
If Lance wasn’t spiraling into a pity-party, he would have appreciated how adorable Keith’s little pout was. “Well,” Keith offered. “What about teaching music?”
Lance blinked owlishly at him. “Say what?”
“I mean,” Keith started fidgeting. “You’ve said before that you like working with kids, and you play like four instruments, and you can read music…” He looked at Lance. “Why not combine them?”
Lance heard a record scratch for the second time that day. Holy crap. Holy crap. He’d never even considered it, but a career as a music teacher? That sounded… okay. That sounded good.
“I’d--” he swallowed, feeling his pulse quicken with excitement. “I’d probably need to get a degree in music education. But it’s doable.”
Keith beamed at him. “Yeah! Plus…” His face went pink as he looked to the side. “I was thinking, um. Since Pidge will be leaving and all, and there’s a good school in Springdale, you could..” Keith bit at his lower lip. “You could move there. With m-- with us.”
Lance inhaled softly as he looked at Keith. The sun had turned golden, lighting his face and making him glow, and it took Lance’s breath away.
“Also,” Keith put his hand over Lance’s where it rested on the grass. His fingers were shaking. “I, uh.” His voice dropped, so quiet Lance could barely hear. “I really like you.”
Lance gasped. Keith’s confession was so sincere and scared and it made his heart thump against his ribs, a wide smile cracking his face. Oh god, it was happening. He’d fantasized about this moment more times than he could count and it was happening, up on the hill overlooking the bay, with the beautiful sunset and Keith’s jacket around his shoulders. He had to be dreaming.
“I really like you,” Lance told him, turning his hand to thread their fingers together. “A lot.”
Keith huffed a little laugh and oh, he was so gorgeous, his hold on Lance’s hand tightening. Lance wants so badly to kiss him.
“Go out with me?” Lance asked.
Keith’s face fell, shock replacing the gentle smile he’d been wearing. “Oh. Um.”
It was like a bucket of cold water was dumped on Lance’s head as Keith pulled his hand away. Had he misread everything anyway? Was that too forward?
“I was thinking,” Keith began, his voice shaking a little. “That we could just… get to know each other more first?” He began clasping and unclasping his hands. “I’ve never really been in a relationship, plus we live five hours apart, and…” He pouted. “I mean, I didn’t even know your name wasn’t Lance until twenty minutes ago.”
“Oh.” Oh. Keith… had a point. Lance didn’t even know he had a motorcycle license until today. It was probably a good idea to get to know Keith better before attempting to dive headfirst into romance. Lance felt the relief like a physical weight. “You... wanna take it slow?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
Lance could barely believe this was real. He leaned forward until his forehead rested against Keith’s and laughed softly.
“Sounds good to me.”
He thought this would be a good time to kiss, but they didn’t, eventually pulling apart to drive the bike back to the rental shop by the fairgrounds. Lance kept Keith’s jacket, slipping his arms through the sleeves and pressing his chest as close to Keith’s back as he could for the ride.
.
They made a trip to Lance’s car to stash Blue in the trunk for safe keeping, and as the sun was setting, grabbed a couple of beers and headed to the meeting point they’d arranged with everyone to watch the fireworks. Allura and Shiro had already spread a blanket out on the grass and were chatting. Keith and Lance took a seat near them, sitting close together.
Allura laughed, then Lance remembered his promise to Romelle. He whipped out his phone.
(+328) hey ‘melle you wanna come watch the fireworks at the fair??
(+396) Lance I just finished a 10 hour shift, that’s a hell no
He frowned, then discreetly aimed his camera at Allura and snapped a photo just as she was laughing, then sent it.
(+328) but cute girl looks lonely
There’s a long pause.
(+396) BE THERE IN 15
Pidge and Hunk eventually joined them, just as the grassy field was becoming crammed with people wanting the best seat for the fireworks. Beside Lance, Shiro looked a little odd, swaying slightly, his eyes dilated.
“Shiro?” Lance asked, keeping his voice down. “Are… are you high?”
Then Shiro laughed loud, threw his head back and really laughed. “Nah, no. Well, okay, yeah. Kinda.” He shrugs. “Fireworks kinda freak me out, after - y’know. So I took a xanax. They make me loopy as fuck, but I didn’t want to miss this.”
Lance blinked. He didn’t think he’d ever heard Shiro cuss before.
Romelle arrived twenty minutes later, just before the fireworks were scheduled to start. Lance did introductions and was pleased to see Romelle take a seat next to Allura, the two of them immediately striking up a conversation about coffee. Mission accomplished.
When the fireworks started, Lance leaned into Keith, feeling Keith return the motion. It was nice to not have to hide his affection anymore, or stay on guard. And if Lance watched the fireworks from the reflection in Keith’s eyes? Well, that was no one’s business but his.
After the fair, they retreat to Lance’s apartment to hang out and chat. Shiro is coming off his xanax and is having trouble staying awake, perking up only when Keith hands him a glass of water. Romelle and Allura trade social media handles and Lance feels a little smug about getting to play matchmaker for them. But mostly, he’s happy about Keith, who sits so close to him, who let Lance keep wearing his jacket.
It’s late and Allura decides they need to go, so everyone piles out of Lance’s apartment at once. Keith is the last one out, and Lance shyly lets the jacket slip off his shoulders and hands it back.
“Thanks,” He says. Keith grins.
“Anytime. See you tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
Once the door closes, Lance leans his head against it, grinning wide. He gets about sixty seconds of peace before Pidge and Hunk lay into him.
“Please,” Pidge groans, “Please tell me you two are dating now.”
“Nope,” Lance grins wolfishly at her as Pidge flings her body backwards onto the sofa with a howl of frustration. Hunk just smiles knowingly at him.
“But you’re going to. Right?”
Lance toes off his shoes and goes for his room. “Eventually.” From the couch, Pidge yells that she hates him.
.
The next morning they have an early brunch at Lance’s favorite diner on the marina, trading stories of their adventures at the fair. Pidge and Hunk show videos on their phones of the rides and games they played. Lance films again, and takes a group photo of all of them with their mimosas and fancy biscuits.
When Lance sees them off for their drive back to Springdale, Keith pulls him into hug. It’s soft and nice and Keith is so warm, Lance taking a deep breath and inhaling his smell. When they pull apart, Keith’s eyes are glittering.
Lance waves at the car as his three friends drive off, feeling happy and light.
