“Ah, but they won't even know it's you!” Spears pulls something out of his cloak and throws it to you.

You unfold it. “Is that… another cloak?”

“I always have backups.”

“Oh, good idea!” Amos pulls one out of her pocket. You stare at her, and she shrugs. “Sometimes you need to hide your identity.”

Alto looks at Spears. “I don't suppose you have--” 

A crumpled-up cloak hits them in the face mid-sentence.

“--Ah. Okay. Thanks,” they say drily.

You pull yours over your head. “If we show up like this, they're going to think we're robbing the store.”

Spears sniffs. “If we were going to rob the store, they wouldn't see us at all.”

“They'll probably just think we’re a bunch of nerds in cosplay.” Alto’s voice is muffled under the cloak as they struggle to put it on properly. “Which is really all that Spears is, anyway.”

His eyes flash. “I can do real blood magic, Patterson. Don't test me. I can always take that cloak back.”

Alto finally manages to poke their head out of the neck hole. “Whatever you say, nerd.”

EPCLOT is the result me watching too many theme park vloggers, and also my love of hurting my blaseball blorbos.

Right after the Semi-Centennial, an entity called The Collector take both the Vault Legends and the Rising Stars and puts them in its collection, in the Blaseball Parks and Resort (officially the Resort League). The Blaseball players are put on their teams they were on when the Semi-Centenial started, often haphazardly, and forced to play games for tourists, with actors filling out their teams.

Right now, the main three characters are Alto Patterson, captaining the Talkers, Commissioner Vapor captaining the Spies, and York Silk captaining the Garages.

I'm going to put more under the fold cause I get mean

There's a Garages cover band called The Carparks, playing sanitized, capitalist-friendly versions of their songs.

Day X happens at the end of every week (even for the players that weren't there). Imagine the one of the most important thing that happened in your life being reduced to a theme park show.

The actors who play specific players get makeup for their characters. They have dossiers on their character and who they like, love, and hate. They don't understand why the actual players act so hostile towards them.

Some of the players are puppets (like Socks Maybe or London Simmons). Nagomi Nava lost Passenger going in, and Passenger is a puppet (Gomi will destroy this puppet many, many times).

The actors are starting to forget who they are.

And when the Collector is displeased, he might put a player on Display (imagine being shelled but everyone can see you and you can see everyone)

And things look bad for our players, but very quietly, the Spies are coming up with a plan...

TL;DR I've invented a new way to torture Blaseball players!

Coin Coin Chapter Five: In the garden… is the latest instalment in composer, improviser, saxophonist, bandleader and visual artist Matana Roberts’ visionary project exploring African-American history through ancestry, archive and place. Weaving together elements of jazz, avant-garde composition, folk and spoken word, Roberts tells the story of a woman in their ancestral line, who died following complications from an illegal abortion. At a time when reproductive rights are under attack, her story takes on new resonance. “I wanted to talk about this issue, but in a way where she gets some sense of liberation,” Roberts explains. By unpacking family stories and conducting extensive research in US public archives, Roberts has created a rounded portrait of a woman who is, as their lyrics put it, “electric, alive, spirited, fire and free.” Each part of Coin Coin explores radically different musical settings, from the free jazz and post-rock eruptions of Chapter One to the solo noise collage of Chapter Three. Featuring a new ensemble steeped in jazz, improvisation, new music and avant-rock, helping to expand the project’s existing sonic palette, Chapter Five is no exception. Roberts is joined by fellow alto saxophonist Darius Jones, violinist Mazz Swift (Silkroad Ensemble, D’Angelo), bass clarinettist Stuart Bogie (TV On The Radio, Antibalas), alto clarinettist Matt Lavelle (Eye Contact, Sumari), pianist Cory Smythe (Ingrid Laubrock, Anthony Braxton), vocalist/actor Gitanjali Jain and percussionists Ryan Sawyer (Thurston Moore, Nate Wooley) and Mike Pride (Pulverize The Sound, MDC). The late, great trumpeter jaimie branch, who was due to play on the album, receives a credit for “courage”. The album is produced by TV On The Radio’s Kyp Malone, who also contributes synths. As a composer, Roberts draws upon strategies associated with the post-war avant-garde, including John Cage and Fluxus member Benjamin Patterson’s conceptual approaches to scoring and performance. The immersive work of Maryanne Amacher, in which “sound and the body almost collaborate” is another key influence. “That is the foundation for me of the Coin Coin work,” they explain. “It’s not just the alto saxophone as an instrument placed in the jazz canon, it's the alto saxophone as an instrument that can be utilised to affect the body.” Listeners will be struck by Roberts’ ability to mould diverse sounds into a cohesive whole. The spoken word passages are accompanied by driving modal jazz on “how prophetic”, minimalist synth loops on “enthralled not by her curious blend” and cantering folk forms on “(a)way is not an option”. These are interspersed with instrumental pieces that range from avant-garde abstraction and squalling free jazz, to solo saxophone reflections and Mississippi fife and drums blues. There’s a further evocation of American roots music in the powerful group vocal arrangement of “but I never heard a sound so long”, adapted by Roberts from the plantation lullaby “All The Pretty Horses.” While this new chapter of Coin Coin focusses on a female-identified protagonist, others haven’t (Chapter Three being from the perspective of a male ancestor) and Roberts intends for future chapters to continue to cover the breadth of the gender spectrum, as well as their Native American heritage. “I'm proud that people say that the Coin Coin work speaks of a woman's story. But I want to make sure that it retains its inclusivity, because what we look like is not always what you see.” This reflects Roberts’ own experiences as a queer person of colour. For the remaining chapters of Coin Coin, Roberts will continue exploring identity and ancestry. “Expect it to keep heading towards a liberation of the human spirit.”

I said in the tags of my last post I don’t have a lot of jenkins related wips and with this one I’m going to make myself look like a clown and post another jenkins related one but I honestly think these might be my only two jenkins wips lmfao AND this one is mostly about Greer

In retrospect, Greer’s alternation doesn’t change much about her life at all. 

Sure, there's now this tall and scary Alternate Greer (who prefers to be called ‘Lottie’), and Greer’s cardboard cutout is nowhere to be found, but other than that not much changes. 

For all intents and purposes, Lottie is supposed to be the one who pitches all the games due to being Greer’s Alternate, but unlike Patterson, she has spine, and isn’t gonna let some newbie pitcher take her spotlight. 

(Patterson has told her time and time again that she could call them Dot. But Greer denies this with vehemence every time. Patterson is Patterson.

…The other one can be Alto though.)

Though, Lottie is kinda cool… and tall… and, well, Eugenia points out to her that she had the cardboard cutout playing half of her games anyway and that “It really wouldn’t be that different to have Lottie pitch some of your games now would it?” to which Greer grumbles and crosses her arms. 

Regardless, not much changes. Greer does her regular thing, and Lottie comes to stay in her spare bedroom that expanded out of the spot used to be the cabinet where her cutout was placed when she was home, and Jenkins avoids them both like the plague.

Which is odd.

De lo que conozco de Europa no me seduce volverla a visitar, salvo por cuestiones profesionales ... En los 80' era otra cosa, todavía encontrabas a Europa y sus nativos europeos (ahora, está plagada de musulmanes, africanos y Barrios malandros y la droga y mafiosos pululan por doquier) ... Visité a familiares y amigos y los encontré Súper cambiados, agobiados por los impuestos y las jornadas laborales dobles o triples y los fines de semana ni querían salir a divertirse por los altos costos y porque ahorraban para enviar al Perú su ayuda económica a sus familiares... ESO NO ERA VIDA, SE ENVEJECIAN COMO ESCLAVOS DEL BILLETE 💵... Eso no era vida, ni es vida... Regresé casi despavorido y agradezco haber conocido esa dura y lacerante realidad de los latinos que creían que en Europa encontrarían la felicidad e igual pasa con los bobos que se van a EEUU en pos del quimérico "Sueño Americano" (tengo familiares hasta en Patterson la "Pequeña Perú" en New Jersey muy cerca de New York) y solamente trocan o mutan en esclavos laborales y de los tontos prejuicios... En fin, en mi Perú 🇵🇪 siempre encontré mi espacio y mi confort y mi felicidad y siento que no me falta nada, al contrario... Y todo eso se lo transmito a mi hijo para despercudirlo de los traumas, prejuicios y complejos sociales tontos de que fuera del país está el paraíso... Lo dejo ahí....
