i think what is super cute in modern fandom expression that I've seen is that in terms of making OCs or AUs is that sound seems to have a bigger role now than from what I remember when I was young. which I'm thinking has a lot to do with being able to clip audio easily or being able to make multi-track playlists whenever. y'all out here with reels of your art with voice claims and some of the most thoughtfully and artfully crafted soundtracks-- not even playlists, some of that shit is a straight up soundtrack level be real

so real quick, my iteration is literally just them chilling, hanging out, being together in their mid 30s- early 40s, and then sometimes flashing back to their child/teen years in the 90s because tl;dr i have miiiiiinor beef my childhood turtles weren't quite as "90s" as they "could have been" (nvm I'm cackling at the milennial pop culture refs in Mutant Mayhem drop kicking me back into my adolescence)

but mehehehehe, keeping that they listened to Public Enemy and The Jungle Brothers

and aside from Top 40 musicians of the time... I feel like being outsiders themselves, having to sneak around to explore and learn about people and what's above the sewers had them eavesdropping into a lot of nighttime venues and getting into the underground and various niche subculture scenes that daytime Top 40 didn't play.

cannot tell me the lights, thumping and noise from bands playing hardcore or house or hosting cyphers or raves didn't attract these curious and funky little green dudes like moths to a flame

... Leo definitely fell in deep with the gregorian chant phase, soothing sounds of nature fads , a big fan of Orbital and he fell into that electronic, house, trance, eurodance rabbit hole right after. he also got into Celtic folk music but when his brothers caught his ass studying Michael Flatley to incorporate Riverdance footwork into his ninjutsu he got teased so mercilessly that he took great care to hide listening to it... which just made his stealth better so joke's on them heehoo

Not to mention they're from New York City, the underground music scene is always bangin' no matter the decade; feel like rap and punk got a lot of tracks on their mix tapes back in the day

So what’s the deal with the Ashen-Streaked Doctor and the Scarlet-Fanged Dreamer?

Well, first comes the difficult question of what he is. The easiest answer is ‘werewolf’; he is still chained to the moon and its phases, and stress transforms him, too. His body twists and cracks until it becomes lupine, and all his rational thoughts vanish behind a new, animalistic front. He remains like this for a night on average, and then the painful process of returning to a human shape begins. Most of the time, he remembers nothing from his time transformed.

But why?

The Doctor, in a way, becomes trapped within his own mind. He is caged within dreams and nightmares alike, interacting with them as though they were Parabola itself— maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. Regardless, his mind does its best to fill in the blanks on how he got into a dream scenario; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Lately, he’s been more aware that he’s dreaming, which means he’s transformed…

What about the Scarlet-Fanged Dreamer?

Even though his rational thought is locked away in a dream, a body needs something to pilot it. What lays behind is his animal instinct: the beast that comes out to protect itself and provide for its master, the body. Doc has taken to calling her ‘Scarlet’, in an attempt to both separate the horror from himself and to lessen his fear by giving her an identity.

Are they separate beings, though?

That is… a complicated matter. Doc would say yes and no. He has had dreams of interacting with Scarlet, trying to tame the beast or fight her off. He has felt her impulse on occasion, tempting him to shed his human form in times of great stress or danger. But… those are just his thoughts, aren’t they? His dreams are symbolism, those temptations the result of adrenaline and strong self-preservation. Maybe. Maybe not.

Perhaps, either by outside intervention or a will to distance himself from the monstrosity he has become, he has willed something new into existence.

Or maybe She is Him, even if He refuses to truly see himself as Her.

After all, she dreams. Just as he does.

So what to talk about…. Maybe… we’ll maybe I should start with something easy. See most hypnotists do like using tools. We don’t need them, voices and eyes and whatever are more than enough, the words working themselves into and through your brain, I’m sure you know the feeling, but no, tools are nice.

They make my job guiding you down and your job of drifting ands sinking easier. And pretty much everything can be a tool. A spiral maybe, or the sounds of the world around us, a hand in your hair, massaging your scalp or maybe a metronome. I do like metronomes. But they’re not my favourite. No my personal favourite is the cliche of cliches, the good old pocket watch. Because most wrist watches give me sensory issues I started using one even before I really started doing hypnosis, believe it or not.

Now it might seem overdone and old fashioned, I mean, what’s next? Am I going to tell you how sleepy you’re getting or that your eyelids are starting to droop? No, see there’s more uses for a pocket watch than a glorified pendulum. So let’s open one. See the time, hours, minutes, seconds. And the second hand is ticking on and in and on, there’s no real back and fourth like with a metronome, just onward, round and round, deeper and deeper, maybe it’s starting to pull you down more and more each tick seemingly stronger than the next…

And then there’s the sound. It’s quiet and discreet but it’s there. With every tick there’s an audio component. Tick tick tick…. There you go, now you hear it, don’t you? And of course there’s still the use as a pendulum, the true cliche. Do you think you can keep up with all three at once?

When Off the Ground was completed [Paul] decided he wanted dance mixes of a couple of the songs for release as 12-inch vinyl singles, hoping to reach a younger audience this way. To undertake the work he hired Martin Glover, founder member of the band Killing Joke, who, despite being 31 years old, went by the name Youth. Youth quickly established a rapport with McCartney, the two musicians sharing a similar hippyish mindset and manner of speaking.
