My Hero -MLBFemSlash Feb Fic
Full Text below the cut. Link to AO3 in my bio.
Ship: Chloé Bourgeois x Alya Cesaire
One shot, Fluff!, Established Relationship, reformed(in progress) Chloé Bourgeois.
This fic is posted in full on AO3, as is the chapterfic that contains the context for how things got here from Canon.
tl;dr: Something seemingly insignificant changed on the first day of school, and things snowballed from there. The two became seatmates, then friends, then girlfriends, while tackling a threat that by its very nature Ladybug and Cat Noir could not even confront. The threat was ended, and this is just a cute little post-threat slice of life.
“She’s the smartest person I know; also sometimes, the dumbest. She’s brave like you wouldn’t believe. Paris owes her so much. She’s kind, confident, and a horrible dresser. On the surface she seems too good to be true, and when you dig down you realize that no, this is just who she is. She’s been putting others first ever since Hawkmoth first attacked, and probably even before. She’ll work herself to collapse. She just cares so much about everyone, except the one person who matters most.
“I owe her a lot, probably even my life at this point. She was the first person to believe in me, even before I did. She’s scary at times. She’s not mean, she’s just… so much. That’s what heroes are supposed to be though, right? They’re bigger, stronger, faster, brighter. They’re amazing, but you also just feel a little nervous in their presence too, just a kind of ticklish energy that makes you want to do your best too. That’s really what it boils down to I guess. She makes me want to be a better me. I can’t think of anything more ‘hero’ than that.”
Chloé raised her gaze from the paper, fifteen pairs of eyes stared back. Thirteen burned. Stupid, ridiculous, looking at me like I’m stupid. Judging me, like they have any right! I did this ALL myself, and it’s better than any of their dumb presentations. Oh look, another speech about Ladybug.
Waspish thoughts circled and buzzed in her head. She focused on the one thing, the one pair, that mattered above all others. It helped quiet the buzzing. Chloé gripped the paper and read the last line.
“That’s why… my hero is Alya Cesaire.”
Silence. Deafening silence followed for what felt like an eternity inside. Fear turned to uncertainty turned to anger in a familiar parade. Chloé bit down on her lip to keep venom from spewing venomous barbs in self defense. She bit harder and harder. The paper crinkled, she was going to-
Loud clapping from a single pair of hands broke her spiral. Sabrina was sitting proudly, hands working overtime to make up for in enthusiasm what was lacking in support. That support did follow, though, First Dupain-Cheng began to clap, sidelong glances showing it was more peer pressure than real affection. Then is spread down to Nino and Adrien, and across the class. It was mostly intermittent, but no one said anything, and that was just enough to allow Chloé to wobble back to her front row seat when Ms. Bustier’s ‘That was… very nice… Chloé. Thank you.’ dismissed her.
Chloé immediately sprawled across her desk, face down.
The object of her presentation laid an arm across her shoulders, “Oh it wasn’t that bad was it?”
Sweat. Just a light hint of the smell always came with her closeness. Sweat was something icky, unfashionable, unladylike, anathema to everything Chloé had been raised to value. Yet that scent was inextricably linked to Alya Cesaire in Chloé’s mind, and the feelings that flowed from it were warmth, safety, and something deep inside that Chloé didn’t have a name for. Maybe it was because much of their first physical contact was Alya putting Chloé into headlocks, or the fact that Alya never stopped moving, never stopped working. Whatever the reason, Alya’s sweat-scent didn’t feel icky, it felt… honest.
Chloé had stolen one of Alya’s shirts from her laundry basket during a visit. She put it on Mr. Cuddly. She hid him whenever Alya came to visit now. Not that she really expected Alya to not figure it out, but if it wasn’t just… out there… she wouldn’t have to be embarrassed.
Taking a deep breath through her mouth, Chloé tasted that light tang along with a hint of citrus and cayenne. Those wouldn’t come from perfume, they would come from home. It was Au de Cesaire in its purest form. “You could have clapped, you know,” she murmured.
Alya laid her head against Chloé’s, Auburn cloak a shield against the eyes Chloé could still feel, real or not. “If it was about anyone else, I would have. How would it look, clapping for something that praised me though? I’ll let you know exactly how it made me feel, later.”
Chloé had an answer for that. Not an answer, she corrected herself, an insecurity. She just absorbed some of Alya’s warmth for a few seconds, letting it build up her nerves. “They’re all going to laugh, after class.”
Alya snorted, “No, they won’t. If anyone does though, Sabrina will give them a stern talking to… then I’ll punch them.”
Habit made Chloé try to stifle a laugh. When she was feeling miserable, she tended to want to stay that way. Old habits died hard, and tried to take you down with them. It was still new, having friends. No, it was new letting people be her friends. She’d had Sabrina forever, without letting her in. Alya didn’t wait to be let in though. She had kicked down the door and shoved all Chloé’s Gucci baggage right out the window. Habit meant Chloé kept trying to bring it back in. Though she hoped, a little less each time.
She shifted, just enough to let Alya know the collapse was past. Alya would lay on Chloe until she felt better otherwise, Ms. Bustier be damned. “You would.”
Alya let her up. Both girls touched themselves up. Juleka was walking down to the front of the class to deliver her speech. Alya murmured under her breath, “What else are girlfriends for?”
Chloé melted a little inside.
--------------
The time between classes still had Chloé feeling raw and exposed. She was sure people were waiting, ready to ridicule her speech. It’s what she would have done in their place. Stomp on the first sign of weakness. Chloé followed in Alya’s wake, envious of the easy way she chatted up everyone she passed. She exuded that simple strength that was so…
I need to do something. I can be strong too. Show them I’m not scared. Show them I pay attention too. Show her I’m not lame. Show them I’m strong.
A target presented herself, dark and quiet while waiting for a blonde of her own.
“ You !” Chloé stopped in front of Julka and transfixed her with one sharp nailed fingertip. “Your presentation was severely lacking…”
Juleka cringed.
Too strong! Too strong!
Chloé kept her face even, that mask of calm even as she panicked inside. Don’t let them see. She held out her other hand, even as attentions turned towards her. “Sabrina! Clip!”
A hairclip appeared from Sabrina’s oversized bag and was pressed into Chloé’s hand. Frowns were forming around her. She didn’t dare look to see if one was Alya’s, she couldn’t handle even the thought of  that right now.
Chloé moved with a viper’s speed. Thrust, slide, snap, she caught the curtain that hid half of Juleka’s face and drew it back, trapping it over her ear, revealing her hidden eye. Juleka was a deer in headlights.
Chloé spoke in a rush, “You only gave half of yourself. Always use every bit you have. Don’t hide, be proud. Otherwise you’re just telling people they’re not worth your best.”
Juleka’s two eyes presented twice the shock. She started to shrink. Chloé was acutely aware of how this would look. She tried to glare strength into the other girl. For once, it seemed to work. Juleka stopped mid-shrink and slowly unfolded, raising herself silently up to her full height, daring to be taller than Chloé. After one more hesitation her chin lifted too, rising to the challenge.
Now what? Chloé hadn’t planned this out. What did you say next after something like this? A heavy arm across her shoulders made Chloé stumble and break the stare off.
“You’ve been in my comics again haven’t you?” Alya drawled, the  planted a kiss on Chloé’s cheek.
“I ah- what? No- I mean yes but you brought them-”
Alya dragged her out of the tableau before giving her another kiss, this one below the ear, then whispering, “That was sweet. You know you don’t have to try and impress me every day, right?”
Again, the panic receded before Alya like the tide. A shiver ran through Chloé from the warmth breath against her ear, and she felt brave enough to admit. “I have to impress them though.”
“Mmmm,” Alya purred, “I can see why you’d think so. Don’t feel like you have to do it all at once though.”
Chloé sighed, leaning into the other girl, “It was easier when that stupid Director was messing with everyone. I had an excuse for why no one liked me. Now it’s just me.”
Alya loosened her grip, turning to lock eyes with her. “Not quite correct. It was you. It’s was that is the problem, not is. Is is just fine. You need to believe in is and not let was get in the way of letting you be is.”
Chloé stared, “I have no idea what you just said. Who’s ‘is’?”
Alya grinned, “You is.”
“Me is what?”
Alya kissed her on the nose, “You is my girlfriend, and also cute when you’re confused, and doing a better job than you give yourself credit for.” She caught Chloé’s hand and laced their fingers. “I know it can be hard, but don’t confuse struggling with failing.”
Chloé still didn’t quite understand it all, but she understood enough to squeeze Alya’s hand, “Thank you.”
They were at Ms. Mendeleiev’s room when Alya piped up, “Hey, I think you need some of that relaxation time you pushed on me, remember?”
How could I ever forget that night? Chloé bit the tip of her tongue, “What? I do what I want all the time.”
“Kind of. Don’t think I haven't noticed how each of our little excursions lately have had someone else at the center. Gaulywood tours for Nino and Sabrina, Le Figaro for me, inside a Gabriel factory with Marinette dragged along… you’re not all that subtle.”
Chloé blushed and fussed. She had thought she came up with good enough excuses for the little outings.
Alya shoulder bumped her in their way to their lab desk, “It’s cute. Seriously though, what’s something fun we can do, just you and me, that you haven’t done in a while? Something you miss.”
“Well, I haven’t had a yoga night in forever.”
“Yoga night?” Alya’s voice rose in a startled crack that tickled right up Chloé’s spine and grabbed hold of her animal-brain.
“Yoga night.” She confirmed with a growing smile.
Alya was suddenly interested in her bag, “I didn’t know you did Yoga.”
Chloé was forever tuned into the nervousness of others. It had been a weapon in the past. Now however… She scooted onto her stool and leaned over, dancing her fingers across the top of the bag Alya was seeking refuge in.
“For years. It  helped with ballet. You have to be limber…”
Alya swallowed audibly, “Is it really that relaxing though?”
Others were funneling in. Chloé couldn’t have cared less. She ducked her head, putting herself in Alya’s skittish line of sight. It was her turn to purr, “oh very. Candles, incense, music, warm oils, and of course, being deliciously wrung out.”
Alya’s eyes darted away again.
“Oh uhm, that sounds nice but, I haven’t ever done um, yoga.”
Her hands gripped the edge of her bag and as Chloé watched her face… the subtlest change. Most people would miss it. A lifetime of working with more hues than all the artists in the Louvre combined had left Chloé specially equipped to appreciate the ever so slight darkening of the cheeks that was Alya Cesaire’s blush.
It was intoxicating. It was the flash of a red tail before a hound. It was the skitter of a mouse before a cat. It was this wonderful,  powerful woman, undone.
Chloé reached out. She caught Alya’s chin with the tip of one finger and turned her gaze back. “Oh, don’t worry. You’ll be safe in my hands. I’ll bend you in ways you didn’t know you could… but I won't hurt you.”
Alya let out a barely audible whine, “You’re doing that on purpose.”
Chloé leaned further, blue eyes to hazel, lips in a full smirk, inches from Alya’s. “You did say, ‘fun’.“
She could feel the ragged breath Alya let out as it washed over her skin. Alya’s first word turned into a hoarse sound. She wet her lips. “Okay, you’re on.”
And with that the prey became the partner again. Both girls took a cleansing breath as something akin to a laugh passed between them. Chloé spoke first, as she settled back into her seat. “Don’t worry, no armada of tailors this time.”
Alya blew out another breath and settled in her own seat, asking, “Don’t want to squeeze me into designer yoga pants?”
Chloé dropped her phone. Scooping it up quickly she conceded, “One tailor,” and began composing an email to book an appointment.
Alya’s gentle nudge to her elbow was the simplest of affections, “Hey, feeling better about yourself?”
Chloé lowered her phone. That warmth rippled along her limbs and back into her chest again. It was a feeling she felt she should know, something long forgotten, but coming alive again. She still couldn’t name it, but she could very much enjoy it.
She looked Alya in the eyes again as Ms. Mendeleiev called the class to order.
Chloé answered, “With you around, it’s hard not to.”

Untitled spy!Marinette draft
Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a seemingly normal girl with a normal life, who occasionally masquerades as the super heroine ladybug, right? No. 4 years ago she transferred to Collège Françoise Dupont from the elite boarding school known as The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women obviously the newly formed French division, to the rest of the world it is known as an elite boarding school one could only get into if they were extremely rich or extremally smart, in actuality it is a school meant to teach the next generation of spies.
In a school where you defuse a bomb in gym class and everyone has to learn and speak fourteen different languages, Marinette thrived. She was smart, extremely so, calculating, athletic, and she could kill a man in eighteen different ways with a pencil, all of her qualities made her the perfect person to infiltrate Collège Françoise Dupont.
From what she’d been told this was a practice mission, sometimes she wondered if that was true considering how long she had been here. For 4 years it was her job to watch, to look for anything that might make it harder to keep the public safe, to find political corruption, or acts of terrorism. Shockingly, she found political corruption on the first day of school, when Chloe had first targeted her, unfortunately the organization failed to do anything about it because there were no long term affects to the public, Marinette thought that was stupid.
Even so Marinette was a good spy, every move was calculated, every word, every action had a purpose. One thing Marinette hated though, were the lies, more than anything she hated lying, But one can’t be a spy if you can’t lie, that's why every lie she told held a bit of truth. Her name really is Marinette just not Dupain-Cheng, Tom and Sabine are her parents, just not bakers, not professionals anyway, though their treats somehow became the best in Paris, one would suppose they are bakers now but still spies.
She wasn't as clumsy as she made herself out to be, and truth be told she didn’t have a crush on Adrien either, Alya just caught her staring at him one day and she had to think quick. Something about him caught her attention, but she couldn’t pinpoint why she still cant, and that frustrates her. The stuttering around him was an accident she decided to roll with to make the crush thing more believable. And despite having a hatred for lies and despite what her friends would tell you, Marinette was an amazing liar, she just didn’t try when with her friends because she knew they were trusting enough to know that if she wanted to tell them the truth she would in her own time.
Alya is Marinette's best friend, she’s tough and smart, most importantly she’s a good person who wants to help, Marinette had considered once or twice, asking to recruit Alya to be a Gallagher girl, she would have taught her everything she knows, There are many things Alya can do, Marinette had seen many qualifications first hand, she was resourceful, she knew how to investigate, she was cool under pressure, but if there is one thing Alya Cesaire can’t do, it’s keep a secret from Nino, her boyfriend.
Becoming Ladybug had been a shock, never once did Marinette consider the possibility of magic being real, she had always relied on facts and things that could be proven right or wrong with a bit of investigation and maybe a bit of hacking (that may or may not be completely legal), because the difference between belief and fact for a spy could mean death. Nonetheless magic was real and she was using her powers for good, though she did send a detailed report about the akuma attacks she just left out the part about her being ladybug, that was something just for her.
Something about Chat noir made her wonder if he was a spy too, though his mannerisms told her he was a class clown type, when he got serious there was a mysterious vibe about him, he was sneakier, almost hyper aware of everything, and when he got mad he was almost scary. He spoke multiple languages too, Mandarin, which Marinette was currently learning, but for some reason it is just difficult for her to grasp, Japanese, and surprisingly morse code. What teenager learns morse code for the fun of it?
He’s really good at hand to hand combat, though Marinette wondered if it was natural ability or if the miraculous had something to do with it, she never saw an improvement in the abilities she started with, she assumed they were natural, but one should never assume with the miraculous.
Despite it all, Marinette was happy with her life in Paris and even wondered what life would be like if she wasn’t a spy, sometimes she debated quitting spying all together ands just living a normal life, but she loved spying it was what she was born to be, literally. She just wished akumatized villains would stop showing up at the most inconvenient times…like right now.

Of Ribbons and Other Lost Things - Chapter 3: Unlucky Girls
AO3
1 | 2 | 3 | TBC
Luka Couffaine had made a mistake.
He couldn’t decide when it had happened– maybe following his ex-girlfriend’s father into their family bakery was where it all started to fall apart, or even putting the idea of part-time employment into Tom Dupain’s mind.
Maybe it went even further back than that. In hindsight, waking up today didn’t seem like such a good idea.
“No, no, you need to feel the dough admit defeat,” Tom attempted to demonstrate the delicate kneading technique, “See, like this.”
Luka stared at the evidently undefeated beige mush on the counter and tried not to cringe as he imagined it growing two eyes, a mouth, and begin laughing at him. He’d never been particularly good at any non-musical extracurriculars, though he wished he’d taken pottery or something, just so he wouldn’t dig himself into an even deeper grave in front of Marinette’s father. And her best friend.
“Wow, Luka, you’re really showing that bread who’s boss,” Alya Cesaire teased from across the room, watching him massacre the flour-to-water ratio as she tapped away on her phone.
“We don’t seem to be in harmony,” he admitted, embarrassed by how quickly he was ready to quit. Forget harmony, they didn’t even seem to be playing the same note. How anyone could do this was beyond him. Marinette really was amazing.
“Maybe it’s better if I give up fighting the dough, altogether.”
“Nonsense!” Tom interrupted, visibly trying not to wince as he leaned in to examine the creation, “We were all beginners once. You just need a.. uh.. you just need a little more–“
Luka braced himself for what he was going to say. Skill? Patience? Humility-to-admit-you’ll-never-be-good-enough-for-certain-things-and-let-them-go-because-you’re-not-Adrien-Agreste–
“Flour, dear. You just need a little more flour.”
Both Tom and Luka looked up to see Sabine Cheng enter the bakery, her arms filled with stacks of colourful flyers.
Alya quickly tucked away her phone in her back pocket to lighten her load, sending a few papers scattering across the tiled floors. As Sabine thanked her, Luka watched a bright blue one float across the room and gently settle on the marble counter, inches away from his pile of mushy dough.
QIXI JIE PLAY: Tickets only available till XX/XX/XX (2 weeks left!)
“Sabine!” Marinette’s father seemed to (for lack of a better phrase) light up, eyes twinkling, as his wife proceeded to dust off her apron and join them; carefully holding a cup of flour.
“I made the same mistake when I first learned to bake,” she said reassuringly, dumping the white powder over Luka’s hands, “Tom’s father wouldn’t let me live it down for weeks.”
“Of course!” Tom grinned, putting on an affected accent to his voice, “Two cups of water in the mixture, Sabine? That’s not how it’s done!”
“There,” Sabine smiled back, “Now try, Luka.”
He reluctantly replicated the kneading movements he’d been watching Tom make for the past twenty minutes, and was relieved to see that his watery creation had now solidified into a a more play-dough like consistency. The tightness in chest eased a little, seeing the progress he’d made.
“Are you putting on a play, Mme. Cheng?” Alya interrupted, not waiting for a response as she plucked the final flyer off the counter and added it to her pile,
“I could drop a link in The Ladyblog if you’re having trouble selling tickets.”
“That’s kind of you, dear,” Sabine gestured for her to pass the flyers back which she did, “But it’s not my play. I’m doing this as a favour to a friend who wanted me to teach his actors the traditional art of Dunhuang.“
“The Chinese ribbon dance,” she clarified, when three pairs of eyes blinked at her bemusedly. Sabine sighed, tucking away the sheath of papers in a cabinet below the counter, and looked up at her husband with worry.
“Unfortunately, it’s all very last minute so I can’t run the bakery and teach full-time. Tom and I were thinking of getting Marinette to help out but we don’t want to overwhelm her–“
“Maman? What did you need help with?”
Luka could feel his heart cartoonishly leap into his throat as her voice drifted down the wrought-iron staircase, and mentally pushed it down into the depths of his stomach, as the tap tap tap of ballet flats slapping the ground hurried to join them.
Sure, it’d only been a week since he’d seen her but a lot could happen in a week. He could be perfectly fine in a week. Perfectly fine and completely over the breakup, and not at all thinking about how Jule took close ups of his face all week that she’d probably shown to all her friends and oh he was so going to disown his sister when he got home–
Marinette Dupain-Cheng entered the room and let out a sound that was somewhere between squeak and wheeze when she saw his face.
“L-Luka?!”
Luka couldn’t recall what he’d said in reply, if he’d said anything at all or wether he was even breathing because Marinette.. because her hair..
Her hair was down; out of its trademark style and spilling down her shoulders, the ends thick and black.
The idea that Luka had never seen Marinette with her hair down was laughable as it was strangely poetic. They’d hung out together so often - they’d dated! - but seeing her like this seemed much more vulnerable somehow. Like he was getting a glimpse of all the things she couldn’t tell him when they were together. All the things he couldn’t bring himself to ask.
Not that she wasn’t beautiful. She was always beautiful.
It was only when Marinette blushed and pulled her hair into its usual twin ponytails, that he was able to tear his gaze away from her and back to the mound of dough in front of him. Don’t lose your cool, don’t lose your cool, don’t–
“Hey, Marinette,” he said easily, though his voice wavered in a way that no one but Jule would’ve noticed.
“I didn’t expect– I mean– You look– Your jacket–“ she floundered her reply, earning a laugh from her best friend.
Luka looked around him in surprise; he’d taken off his jacket to keep it from getting in the way. He felt a little naked without it but hadn’t wondered if it made him look weird until now. Great, now she thinks I’m weird and a stalker.
“Real smooth, girl.” After a pointed glare in Alya’s direction, Marinette turned back to him, finally noticing the dough in his hands.
Her lips broke into shy smile.
“What are you making?” She asked curiously, skirting around the awkwardness of him being here, in her house, when both of them knew she’d been avoiding him.
“Just bread,” he said, almost apologetically covering it with the flat of his palms, “–but I think Baking might not be the right instrument for me.“
“Here, let me see.”
Luka moved back in surprise as she came to stand beside beside him, dusting her own hands in flour. He’d expected her to be nervous and uncomfortable around him now that they’d broken up (for reasons neither of them could articulate), but Marinette only furrowed her brow in concentration, pulling the baking sheet towards herself, and got to work.
“There,” she beamed up at him, barely ten minutes later, “All done.”
Marinette had managed to pummel his sickly-beige, barely-dough concoction into the dusky brown colour of before-bread with only a few shakes of flour and the twist of her wrist.
“O-oh, wait,” She mumbled when he’d stared at her in awe instead of replying, “I didn’t mean– I wasn’t trying to show off or anything–“
“You’re amazing, Marinette,” It escaped his mouth before he could fully realise what he’d said, and now she was looking at him with big eyes. Crap. That was probably a bit too strong.
“I.. am?”
“–at baking!” He added quickly, not meeting her gaze, “A real magician, Marinette!”
Why couldn’t he stop saying her name? The awkwardness and the lingering effect of his words seemed to envelop the two of them and Luka had to force himself not to react to the spark of electricity that shot through his nerves when their forearms accidentally brushed.
“That’s right, my daughter’s a genius!” Tom swooped in between them to examine the dough, and Luka moved back, relieved.
If this kept up, he would start pulling out the finger-guns before lunch; and absolutely, under no circumstances, could he have Marinette realising that the ex-boyfriend she thought was cool and mature, was actually a huge dorkasaurus. He’d done enough damage already.
Tom swept the dough into a tray and lovingly placed it into the oven as Sabine handed them both a wet towelette. He tried to look at Marinette out of the corner of his eye, and found her gaze already transfixed on her best friend’s phone.
“We gotta leave soon if we want to make it before André splits,” Alya said matter-of-factly, pointing at something on her screen, “It’ll take us at least 20 minutes to get there on foot.”
“And guess who’s going to be there because of the Bourgeois’ anniversary party?”
Luka didn’t need to turn around to see Alya shake her friend’s shoulders and quietly mouth ‘Adrien’ to know who it was.
To know who it always would be, with Marinette.
“Marinette, could you be a dear and get the apples I left out by the door before you leave?”
“Sure, Maman!”
Luka smiled at her retreating back as she pushed open the bakery door, and stored the sorrow somewhere deep inside him instead.
He’d meant it when he said he’d be happy for her when they got together. Not ‘if’ but ‘when.’ Because that was yet another curse he carried by remembering the events that he’d lived through, akumatised as Truth– Marinette’s secret was that all her roads ended up at Adrien Agreste, wether she wanted them to or not.
All of Paris seemed to know that it was only a matter of when.
He would be happy, He would be happy, he would be happy. Even if the stars fell from the sky and the moon broke into a thousand pieces. Even if every instrument he’d ever made went up in flames. Even if Shadowmoth won and all of Paris became a wasteland.
If Marinette loved Adrien, he’d be happy for her even if it killed him.
...
Marinette Dupain-Cheng was going to kill her best friend.
Not only would she have appreciated knowing about her frickin’ ex-boyfriend baking bread with her father, Alya also had the gall to laugh in her face when she’d nearly fallen to pieces in front of him.
She sighed as she curled her fingers around the crate of apples; Marinette could hardly blame her bff for the latter. Her heart had spontaneously combusted when she’d walked in to see Luka Couffaine of all people, behind the counter without his jacket, up to his elbows in flour, clearly out of his element and did she mention without his jacket??
In all the time that she’d known him, she hadn’t ever seen him jacket-less, and she hadn’t expected to feel so flustered by the strange intimacy of seeing Luka’s tanned forearms for the first time. Or those same arms baking bread.
Well..trying anyway.
Marinette stifled a smile at the thought. Luka was normally so calm and collected, there was something almost gratifying about knowing that he could be just as much as a fish out of water as her, even if it was just while kneading dough.
She felt the her cheeks flush as she recalled his awestruck expression ‘You’re amazing, Marinette.’ Alya had cackled knowingly and Marinette’s back pocket had buzzed with a text from the brunette. She didn’t even need to open it to know what it said.
@alya.ladyblogger: tryna impress someone r we
( ͡° ᴗ ͡°)
Marinette shook her head to clear away the blush.
Alya had it all wrong; she wasn’t trying to impress Luka with her bread-making skills. If anything, she was trying to impress.. uh.. herself! That’s right, it’d been so long since she’d helped out her parents at the bakery that she started to wonder if her baking had become a little rusty. Yeah, that was definitely it.
Not seeing Luka in over a week had momentarily made her forget why she was avoiding him in the first place, and now Marinette wondered how he was handling the after-effects of the Truth akuma.
She’d wanted to ask him about Jagged, about his mom; she’d wanted to ask him if he could ever forgive her for getting him akumatised, for any of it, but for once, she was afraid the answer might be exactly what she’d expected.
So she settled for Juleka’s mumbling and the close up pictures on her purple-haired-friend’s phone, telling herself it was for the best, it was for the best, it was for the best. Unlucky girls like her didn’t get to fall in love, and besides, Luka couldn’t get akumatised if she wasn’t around to let him down. Again.
Marinette tried not to sigh, as the memory of the last time she talked to Luka rose up in the back of her mind: she’d broken up with him over the same bridge he’d taken her to that very evening, because it was easier than telling him the truth.
No, not easier– safer. It was safer for the both of them if she stayed away. Or at least, she hoped it was. Oh, and Adrien too, of course.
Though, she supposed, Adrien was hardly in danger with the way her words twisted themselves into pretzels around him. In fact, the only chance he’d ever become akumatised because of Marinette, is if he completely misunderstood everything she’d said– like Marianne.
And after everything that’d happened on French-American friendship week, even her feelings about Adrien had become pretzel-shaped; the inextricable threads of shame and disappointment weaving their way into the “love” she’d been so sure she held for him, less than a month ago.
Marinette took a breath and hoisted the crate up to her hip, trying not to recall that final night in New York, the cold shards of rain that peppered her face as she pedalled as hard as her burning calfs would let her. Hot tears rolling down her cheeks as she screamed and screamed after the car, only for Adrien to leave without even turning once.
What a mess.
As Marinette was about to push open the bakery door a single apple fell from the crate and rolled backwards.
She tried to reach for the runaway fruit with one arm while balancing the crate in the other, and ended up losing her balance and toppling over instead, spilling the apples onto the sidewalk and earning sympathetic glances from the pedestrians on the street as she fell.
“Are you okay, Marinette?” Tikki flitted out of her purse as if on cue, perching on top of an apple, as her big bug eyes widened with concern. Marinette could see herself reflected back in the glassy blue tint, from the shadows under her own eyes all the way to the the defeated slump of her shoulders.
She couldn’t even remember the last time she’d gotten a good night’s sleep– mess was an understatement.
“I’m fine, Tikki,” she sighed rather than said, gathering the fruit back into the crate.
“Just the same old, klutzy Marinette.”
The kwami frowned up at the mouse miraculous pendant hanging at her neck.
“Maybe you shouldn’t..”
Whatever Tikki was going to say was immediately interrupted by the hum of a motor as a black taxi pulled up in front of the bakery, and a blonde girl, about her age, got out.
The kwami quickly flew out of sight as the girl promised the driver she’d only be a few minutes, oblivious to the disarray Marinette herself was sitting in the middle of–  and the single red apple that had rolled to wait right under the girl’s colourful sneaker.
“Wait, WATCH OUT–“
But it was too late.
A slip and a stumble later, the girl found herself right beside Marinette on the pavement, her fall jostling the blue beanie she was wearing off of her head, so Marinette could see a faded streak of pink hair peeking out of the blonde.
“Oh my, is everyone alright?” The bakery door swung open to reveal a concerned Sabine, holding her purse tightly, with a bemused Tom in tow.
The girl gave Marinette a weak smile as if to say ‘oh, clumsy me,’ and the idea that there was someone out there in the world who was just as uncoordinated and graceless as her was so silly that she grinned right back, and the two were soon in stitches on the floor outside the bakery.
“Here, let me help you.. uh..”
“Zoé,” the girl smiled, taking Marinette’s outstretched arm, “I’m Zoé Lee.”
“Hello Zoé,” Marinette smiled, dusting herself off, “I’m Miss-Walking-Disaster, but everyone calls me Marinette. Please let me spot you some of our macarons to makeup for all this.”
“Oh, that’s not necessar–”
“I insist,” Marinette interrupted bending over to put away the last of the apples, “It’s the least I could do after introducing you to our lovely Parisian pavements.”
Before Zoé could reply however, Sabine sighed and took the crate off of the ground and handed it to her husband, who dutifully retreated back into the bakery.
“Maybe that’s enough excitement for the day, dear,” Sabine added, not unkindly, “Why don’t you let your father handle the macarons, hmm?”
“Yes Maman.”
“Wow!”
Zoé glanced down as Marinette got an eyeful of the bright sneakers and looked up at her with sparkling blue eyes.
“Your sneakers are awesome! Did you decorate them yourself?”
If there was anything Marinette loved more than designing, it was seeing other people’s designs. Particularly DIY ones. There was just something so inspiring about them.
“Yeah,” Zoe agreed tucking a lock of hair behind her ear sheepishly, “I’ve written down every nice thing that anyone’s ever said to me.”
“To keep them with me all the time.”
A single I ♥ U, was scribbled on to the toe cap of the left shoe.
Marinette frowned, “But there’s only one message.”
“I.. uh.. only had one friend.”
Both Sabine and Marinette let out an ‘oh’ sound, the sound wavering somewhere between pity and second-hand embarrassment. Zoe shifted on her feet, suddenly uncomfortable.
“Why don’t you two come inside?” Sabine smoothly changed the topic, holding out an arm to help her daughter up, “And you can show your new friend around the bakery, Marinette.”
“That’s a great idea, Maman!”
“I mean..,” Marinette held up her hands apologetically, “Only if you’re free Zoé.. I don’t want to keep you from anything.”
Zoé shrugged, “I’m not in a rush.”
Sabine looked back and forth between the two girls fondly, smiled and turned to leave. Marinette quickly checked the left pocket of her pink jeans to make sure the bee miraculous was still where she’d left it and missed the strange glance Zoé gave her.
“By the way,” Marinette added over her shoulder, as the two of them followed her mother back into the bakery, “–where’s your accent from? It’s really pretty.”
“New York,” the other girl replied, bending over slightly to tie her shoelace, “I’m from New York.”
“Wow! How exciting– I was just there on a class trip!”
“No way!”
“Yeah– so what brings you to Paris?”
“I’m here..“ the light in Zoé’s eyes darkened.
“...to see my family.”

Agreste-Wayne 16
Alya sat nervously on the opposite side of the Parisian reporter. Nadja Chamack had long since passed down the role so she had no idea how this person would act.
"We are live on Tvi with Alya Cesaire!" they announced, "She has gained quite a bit of a reputation recently. Many of you may remember she worked for Parisian Abroad and wrote the retracted story of Adrien Agreste and Marinette Wayne's supposed love affair. Today, she is here to talk about her new blog and what led to her creating it."
Alya smiled nervously at the camera and waved.
"Um, I pretty much stated in my blog what led up to all of this. I believed in the wrong person and that person was Layla Rossi. She was a new student, in college, and quickly wowed us with stories of all these amazing things she did. I lost touch with a lot of classmates over the years. I can't say she was the reason or not. I know a few people know she was liar and I don't blame them in the slightest. I was-am, I am stubborn." Alya began.
"You posted a link with a list of lies she told in school." they declared, "Can you elaborate on those?"
"Yes. Of course." Alya answered, "Lila, um, Layla missed a lot of school. She was always saying how she was going on trips with her mother, an ambassador. She would even zoom call the teacher to tell us about her 'trips'."
"And you are sure she wasn't on these trips?" they asked.
"I didn't see it then, but she would never leave the hotel room." Alya explained, "Someone brought it up that every hotel room looked the same. She began to tear up and said that her mother's company only used the same hotel brand so all rooms should look the same. We believed her. Later, they pointed out how Lila never showed us pictures of her on any of these trips. She would go to exotic places: the Kingdom of Achu, Hawaii, the Amazon rainforest. I wish I had listened more when they said that there was no proof she was doing these things."
"Was that all there was too it?" they inquired, "No proof?"
"No." she replied, "Layla claimed to be doing these 'inspirational' acts, like feeding the homeless, building homes in Africa, helping Prince Ali with an environmental project, making clothes by hand for orphaned children and a lot more. If you're curious, you can look at the blog; most of these I did disprove. For one, the Prince Ali of Achu doesn't do environmental projects. He has charities for pediatric hospitals. Many of us donated money to the 'environmental project'. Anytime we asked her to help with something she claimed to have done, she would have an excuse. She also told us she had all these disabilities: tinnitus, arthritis, weak ankles, fractured lymph nodes, and so on. All of which sounds really stupid to say outloud, especially if she was out building homes. In fact, we've never met her parents so there's no guarantee she even was an ambassador's daughter."
"That does sound pretty....hard to believe." the reporter declared.
Alya nodded, "We were fourteen and thought we all had this amazing friend who did all these amazing things! At twenty-two, it doesn't sound plausible. There's so many mistakes, so many inconsistencies. They saw right through her. They were smarter than all of us."
"Alya, I know we asked you here to talk about you're blog." the reporter began, "We also asked some other people to talk about their experiences with Layla Rossi."
Alya looked off to the side to see who would be walking out.
'Is it Nino? It could be anyone from Bustier's class.'
Alya quickly turned when she heard a noise and saw the giant screen was trying to connect to a video.
'Did they not want to be here in person? How horrible did Lila treat this person that they're possibly going to disguise their identity?'
Alya froze in her seat. She never expected it would be them.

My favorites fics
So, im a spanish speaker who is still learning english and my teacher said that if i want to improve i need to write/speak more in my ordinary life...and theres no better way of doing that that writing about my hiperfixations on Tumblr, so here i go.
This is the first long post that i do, so im sorry if i have any grammar mistake, im trying i swear 😔✌️
So here's the list (without order):
The Growing Pains Of Child Soldiers by BloodWolf13 What do the citizens of Paris do, when they realize that their heroes are literally growing up before their eyes? They freak the fuck out. Or everybody realizes that the heroes of Paris are young teenagers and are a little (extremely) worried about children fighting a terrorist.
I have always been wondering if in canon parisian knows that Ladybug and Chat Noir are just teenagers.
I mean, in season 1 we have Theo having a crush on Ladybug (ik that Thomas said that hes like 16/19 but still weird) so i asumed that people thought that they were adults but then remembered that in Bubbler, he didn't talk to Ladynoir as if they were adults.
Then Sabine is worried about them bc they have been working a lot and this fic shows how it could be if the other adults of paris worried about them too.
It was interesting for me because its like a realistic version of mlb paris socity, the discussions about mental health, ethical dilemmas and literally has a university essay in the first chapter. Its an amazing fic and if somebody knows if the author has a tumblr let me know pls.
Review of Les aventures de Ladybug et Chat Noir by @sunfoxfic Alya Cesaire, moderator and writer for the Ladyblog, reviews the newest movie in France — Les aventures de Ladybug et Chat Noir. How will this movie hold up to the hype? How will it hold up to the truth? All on the Ladyblog.
In-universe fics are my favorites, i like to see the events of the show from the pov of a normal civilian and the love that parisians have for Ladybug and Chat Noir. In this fic we have a review of the Ladybug and Chat Noir movie by Alya, one thing that i found funny is how in-universe Lady and Chat have like 2 or 3 movies while in real life we just got the 1 movie 3 months ago 😭.
Also, its funny that poor Adrien probably was forced by his father to do that role just like in Frightningale and he had to act like Chat Noir good enough for his father but not so good that anybody could tell that it was the same voice.
Miraculously Ladybug? by @the-angst-lord ON HIATUS FOR UNTIL SEASON 5 PROBABLY Marinus "Xiang" Dupain Cheung just wanted to go to school and keep his head down, design clothes, and bake cookies. Instead, he finds himself jumping across rooftops, defeating supervillains and partnered up with a cat who has the ability to destroy anything he touches. What a first day of school. Adrien Agreste just wants friends and the freedom to live his life outside of his father's influence. He's all too eager to become a hero of justice and defend the people of Paris. Gaining a handsome ladybug-themed partner who embodies said ideal is just a bonus.
I really enjoy the genderbend fics and this has to be the best rewrite of the show that i've ever read.Marin has the best features of Marinette, but with his own essence and characterization, when you read you really know that he is a reinterpretation of Marinette character and i looooooooooved him.
The situations, the relationships and the reinterpretation of Chat Blanc was so goooood.
I also loved the Dupain-Cheng family background in Shangai special ✨
(and it has drawings too and the suits are soo pretty)
@the-angst-lord i love your fic man
Perfectly Platonic (Unless…) by @frostedpuffs After accidentally revealing their identities in less than ideal circumstances, Adrien and Marinette must navigate their newfound relationship as both partners and friends. Becoming best friends was a quick process, but when romantic feelings begin to bleed into what's supposed to be a platonic connection, their friendship starts to change in more ways than one. Surely it can't be that hard to hide their feelings from their best friend? (A post-reveal, pre-relationship fic full of romantic crushes, best friend shenanigans, and a whole lot of dumbassery.)
I just lost count of the times that i've re-read this fanfic, the jokes are so funny and Adrinette acting like Ladynoir and Ladynoir acting like Adrinette >>>
These idiots are so horny and so in love, i need more 😭😭

Be Still My Undead Heart Chapter 1
Miraculous Ladybug | 2019 | 894 | Ao3 | Masterlist | Next
Magic is common. There are thousands of mages, but just like that, there are thousands of magicless too. Félix was magicless. Born that way, lived that way. Until an archeologist unearthed two lost Magic Hearts. Now centuries worth of magic energy is running rampant, and it's up to Felix and the other new Heartholder to catch and control it. Thank goodness the Zombies are only in Paris.
Mages were common. Mages were mainstream. Magic was known. About half the populace was magic, although it could vary slightly depending on your area.
Just over a hundred years ago, something snapped within the bonds of magic, and three branches of magic vanished from all but history books. Transformative, Sentimental, and Subjective.
Felix Prolux came from a magical bloodline. His mother, Aurora Bianchi Prolux, had no magic, despite hailing from a strong conceptual family. His father, Bryan Prolux, hailed from the elemental magic of wind. Felix, a younger, colder version of his mother, was ordinary as well. His sisters and brother had magic, the twins elementals of wind and fire, and Emilia a concept of illusion.
No one knew why magic would skip some people, just like no one had been able to figure out why some people were imbued with magic.
***
In a Tibetan mountain, an explorer shook out a sifting pan, and found a set of broaches. They watched in muted horror as the lost hearts of Transmission and Sentiment flashed.
 They were free at last.
Trickles of magic power, long contained and kept from those it should have gone to, fizzed invisibly through the air, searching for the few still-beating hearts it should have latched onto years ago.
Sentiment moved faster, excited to again see her mages. Change followed slower, marvelling in the world years after his entrapment.
Purity and Power met them halfway, Purity joyus while Power was skeptical. The two most abstract of magics didn’t have mages more than every few hundred years, so they were always present in the air.
The four concepts ‘talked’ for a moment, and then Sentiment and Change were granted permission to continue. The world needed their mages again.
Hearts? Change questioned before he continued.
Power darted left and then right, and then bowed. Purity knows. Later.
See you again, Change promised, bowing slightly before darting off.
***
Somewhere across the seas in France, Protection felt their freedom. He glowed through his heart, alerting his heartholder as best he could. Prepare, he whispered, Prepare.
***
Felix gave his obnoxious brunette classmate as dry of a look as he possibly could as she chattered on incessantly. Alya Cesaire, the daughter of a zoologist and a chef, and the class’ deception concept, had a penchant for finding the truth instead of planting lies. Which meant she would go on loudly whenever able, her theories directed at her non-magic best friend but able to be heard by anyone in the vicinity.
Felix found it annoying. Marinette Dupain-Cheng, - non-mage, daughter of successful bakers, one of whom being a creation concept and the other non - had an amazing level of patience and interest to stay interested in… whatever Alya was talking about today.
Felix wasn’t actually listening, more than knowing he couldn’t tune it into white noise like he would like to. It was a wonder that the bus driver hadn’t told her to turn down the volume.
Alya’s boyfriend, Nino Lahiffe, - Water elemental, son of a musician and a zoologist, both conceptuals - asked something, and Alya’s rant came to a stop so sudden you could hear her brain screeching.
Felix couldn’t stop the half-smile as he was finally able to reenter his book.
The smile fell when his book was pulled out of his hands. “Yo bookworm!” Nino said, grinning. “Is it true that there’s a ring made of steel and pumus embedded with three thousand dollar rubies in your family’s possession?”
“I wouldn’t know,” Felix said, reaching for his book. “And even if I did, then I wouldn’t tell you about it. The Prolux heirlooms are private artifacts.”
 “Aw come on-” Nino started.
Felix grabbed his book, and tensed up as something jolted through him.
Somebody yelled, and Felix could hear more and more of something he didn't know, and it kepr coming like a tidal wave, hitting again and leaving more and more lingering to soak into his skin and there was more and more coming and the waves wouldn't stop and it was too much. His thoughts, buzzing too fast with things he couldn’t even understand, started to fade as he blinked.
Somebody screamed, and that set off others. Darkness was followed by silence.
 ***
Wisps of magic swirled through the city like a charged fog; blue, white, and purple mixing in streams that pushed quite literally through the people of Paris, hunting for those long-since deprived of their rightful magic.
Sentiment and Change had scattered across the world, and reconvened in Paris, where the two strongest living, their heartholders, were located.
They whispered to each other, knowing better than to overload the heart-holders. They could give them more power, but until they had their heartstones it would be unsafe, especially since the children had been deprived of magic for so many years.
Sentiment darted towards a cemetary, nudging towards the graves. Deprived. Sentiment whispered imploringly.
Dangerous. Change rebuked, dipping towards one of the graves. Change could bring them back, but they wouldn’t be the same. He wasn’t sure he wanted to take that chance.
Sentiment whined, sadness permeating the air as she mourned those she had never met. Power backed her up.
 Change relented.
Sentiment jumped for joy, and dove into the graves. Change followed. This was not a good idea, but it there had been worse ideas before.

3. TV
Ukrainian version on Facebook
Tumblr media
– With you is the incomparable Alec Cataldi and your favorite show "Change profession"! Today, I and my film crew visited a place that is well known to all of you – the College named after François Dupont. How many outstanding persons studied in its walls! Even the mayor of Paris chose this educational institution for his own daughter.
Without taking a breath, Alec continued to walk through the school grounds, actively gesticulating, and not noticing the surprised looks of random witnesses. Behind him was a camera operator and an assistant loaded with various props.
– You must have already thought that today some famous star will try himself as a teacher? But no! At first, I had an incredible idea to transform the biology teacher Madame Mendeleeva into a policewoman, but unfortunately, she refused and reminded me of the deuce I once received in her class... Sometimes it's nice to realize that you've already graduated. Therefore, today in these walls we will shoot such a release that you could not even imagine! And our old friend Nino Lahiffe will help us in this!
At that moment, a smiling guy in glasses, a red cap, and a blue T-shirt spectacularly appeared in the frame. Alec began to circle around him, asking about something and periodically bursting into the frame with a sensational addition to what was just said.
Alya and Marinette watched in amazement from the second floor balcony.
– Do you have any idea what Nino will do? – asked Marinette, leaning over her friend.
– My only hope is that he will not cosplay Carapace, – Alya smiled awkwardly.
Alec bellowed at the top of his lungs:
– ...Alya Cesaire!
– What?! – cried the girls at the same time.
And the presenter was already rushing to the stairs, chasing the cameraman and others. Only Nino paused for a moment and waved his hand encouragingly.
Why should he pretend to be Carapace, if there is someone who can handle the role of the hero better?
– And now we have found our participant! – Alek began to chatter into the microphone. – Just look at how her eyes light up in anticipation of a new adventure! Whatever happens, activist Alya Cesaire is ready to take the most active part in it.
– Wait! – she tried to at least somehow calm down the hyperactive TV presenter. – But what should I do?
– Only today and only in our show "I change my profession", the popular blogger Alya Cesaire will become a DJ for one day!
Now her expressive gaze went to Nino, who was still smiling innocently. Probably, he imagined Alya in his headphones and at the DJ console, when a driving remix of "I am Lady Bug" will be heard from the speakers. Because Alya will not agree to play other tracks from his collection.
– And how do you imagine it? – she frowned, categorically crossing her arms on her chest.
– This will be the best issue of this season! – assured Alec, not forgetting to smile at the camera.
Well, Alya also liked to be in the center of attention, but not so radically changing the role. Although this was the essence of the well-known program - the participant had to quickly adapt in an unfamiliar place.
– Just trust your intuition, – suggested Nino, imperceptibly approaching her. – You have a good feel for music, I know it...
Here he almost had to jump aside while Alya turned around, and the cameraman caught the moment to show her emotional face in a wide shot. Therefore, Nino's last phrase had to be pronounced already from a safe distance:
– And I will dance to the song you choose!
Alya stopped, incredulously raised an eyebrow under the birthmark, and then smiled very insidiously, almost like a villainous fox from a fairy tale.
For this reason, you can even become a DJ.

Write a scene where Cricket Green cook a pot of hot chili and it made Gramma a hot chili fan
Characters: Cricket Green, Gramma/Alice Green, Bill Green, Amity Blight, Luz Noceda, Nino Lahiffe, Alya Cesaire, Perry the Platypus and Howard Ashman
It was a chilly evening in Big City Greens, and Cricket Green was in the mood for some spicy comfort food. He decided to make a pot of his famous hot chili, a recipe he had perfected over the years.
As he started cooking, the aroma of the chili wafted through the Green's home, drawing the attention of Cricket's family and some of his friends who were over for a visit. Gramma Alice Green was initially hesitant to try the chili, as she was not a fan of spicy food. But as Cricket ladled some into a bowl and handed it to her, she couldn't resist the delicious smell any longer.
Gramma took a cautious sip of the chili, and her eyes widened with surprise. It was the perfect balance of heat and flavor, with just the right amount of spice. She savored each bite, and before she knew it, she had finished the entire bowl.
"Well, I'll be darned," Gramma exclaimed. "This is the best chili I've ever tasted! Cricket, you've got yourself a new fan."
Cricket beamed with pride, thrilled that his grandmother had enjoyed his cooking. His dad, Bill, and his friends Amity, Luz, Nino, and Alya, all agreed that the chili was amazing.
Perry the Platypus, who had been silently observing the scene, let out a series of chattering sounds that Cricket interpreted as approval. Howard Ashman, who had been sitting in the corner reading a book, looked up and asked if there was any chili left.
As Cricket refilled Gramma's bowl, he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. There was nothing quite like cooking a meal that brought people together and put a smile on their faces. And with his hot chili recipe, he knew he could do just that.

Fanfic prompt:
Ms Bustier assigns each of the students to do a report on someone they know, with a presentation at the end. They need to pick someone to report on, learn about their daily life, interview at least three people close to them, and then do a presentation on that person when the project is due in two weeks (arbitrary time limit is arbitrary). When Alya comments that it’s too bad that the restrictions mean a report on Ladybug is probably out of the question, Marinette suggests Ladybug’s best friend as a substitute. Alya can interview Lila’s parents as one source, Rose can probably connect her for a short Q&A with Prince Ali about someone who’s done so much for his charities, and Alya can even justify asking Ladybug some questions for the project this way!
Naturally, Alya loves this idea. Over the course of the project, she learns more about Lila than she ever imagined.
Lila redemption optional; Alya redemption mandatory.

Also, I’m announcing a two-day break from the pen art, seeing as the weekend is starting again. My friend who draws the art and I, only see each other during school. So during the weekends there will be no new pen art.
