My cousin, a published writer, a well-known poet in my country and a literature professor, for whom I've always been no.1 support ever since her first attempts at writing in high school, told me that I must stop writing as a hobby because that's her thing and since I'm writing fantasy mostly my writing could never have any important artistic value anyways.
#what happened was that i was feeling really down these past few days#like mental health dead in mariana trench#and i went to visit her because she lives like 10 minutes away and has a cat i can play with#but yesterday morning a friend of mine made a fanart (i guess i can call it that) of a fanfic i am writing for the five of them#she sent it to me and said she's also working on an actual painting on a camvas of her fave scene from my original story#and i was so surprised and exicted#that's actually a too mild description#and when i was visitting my cousin i showed her the pic of the drawing on my phone and explained it to her and she just said ....ehh..#and started texting someone#i was sitting there feeling stupid and thinking wow you could have at least praised my friend's art sytle or something#and when i was getting ready to leave she asked me if i was aware my writing has no artistic merit and fantasy is trivial literature#so i should just stop wasting time on that and focus on developing my art style more for her future poetry collections#i do the art for her book covers#and added how we already have an established writer in the family so i should focus on my role - becoming a good pharmacist#and she knows how much i hate that i'm studying pharmacy like it's the no.1 cause of me hating the direction in which my life is going#finished it off by saying she feels like what she's doing in going to be really great and important on a large scale one day#and how she wants me to continue being her shadow that follows and supports her#i left went home and started at a wall for hours#i just feel so dumb for getting excited over a silly drawing of something not more than 5 people will ever read#i genuinely hate the idea of people reading anything i write so most likely writing will just remain a hobby for me#and now i feel like the most stupid person on earth and am this close to deleting all my word documents from both my laptops

Pushing Towards You
Chapter 1: Back to Nevermore
Calista was in the middle of a meeting when a message came in. It was from her ex-wife, Gaia.
"G: Hey. I have some news. Let me know if you are free to have dinner with us tonight"
By us, she means her and your teenage daughter, Ártemis. Before you can answer, Ártemis texts you as well.
"A: Hey, mum. Mumma G wants to have dinner with us tonight. She said she had big news to share. I hope you can make it. Love you."
"C: See you later, babe. Miss you and Love you." You answered to your daughter.
Only then do you remember to reply to Gaia.
"C: Hey. It settled. I'll be taking the dessert. See you."
Calista was a pharmacist. She is a professor at the University of North Carolina, where she graduated and received her doctorate. She was also an outcast, although her colleagues didn't know about this part of her life. It took a bit of effort to hide what she was since telekinesis was a power that came to a hand sometimes. Nevertheless, Calista was aware of the relationship between normies and outcasts. That was a constant subject of discussion with Gaia, who never missed the chance to express her thoughts about how normies are arrogant and prejudiced.
Gaia was a botanist whose powers involved mimicking plants' essence and features as long as she was in contact with them at least once. For that, she had a free spirit and mind. This freedom included the speech of her thoughts and her feelings toward people no matter what. Calista admired her ex-wife for being so herself, but this wasn't enough to keep the marriage going. Over the years, the differences became too apparent. For the sake of their daughter, they decided on a friendly divorce and maintain a healthy relationship.
Consequently, having dinner together weekly became a tradition, especially when one had something to share with the other two. Tonight was no different, and Calista was heading to Gaia's apartment with the promised dessert. Ringing the bell, she heard a yelling from inside.
"It's open! Come on in!". Gaia was in front of the oven, finishing what looked like a Spaghetti Carbonara.
"Hey, you!" You greeted her. "Hmm...That smells delicious." You simply loved good pasta.
"Well, since I was the one who sent the invitation, I felt the need to spoil my two Italian girls!" Gaia said, smiling at you.
"I'm not your girl anymore, but thank you anyway." You replied.
"Yeah, yeah... Sorry about that. It's just a habit." Gaia said, blushing lightly.
"That's ok. And where is Ártemis?" You asked, changing the subject.
"In the shower. She just came back from the gym. I guess all these exercises are making her feel better. She seems so relaxed!" Gaia pointed out. Ártemis had a bad year at school. Turning fifteen brought some unpleasant changes in her point of view, but expected ones in her mothers'.
"That's awesome. It makes me glad to see her feel better about herself. But I've been thinking, and I guess it's time for us three to consider Nevermore an option for her education. After all, we both studied there. It is the right place for outcasts. I know is far away, and we will miss her,  but..." Calista was interrupted by her daughter entering the room.
"Hey, mumma C! How are you? Who are you going to miss?" Ártemis asked, embracing her mother from behind.
"Hey, my precious. I was just saying to your mumma G about sending you to...Wow!" Turning around to face Ártemis, Calista was startled by her height. "I swear that you look higher since the last time I put my eyes on you, and It's been what? A couple of days?" Ártemis was indeed taller, and that growing-up speediness was one of the reasons why she felt so uneasy lately.
"Yeah...Well, I am taller,  yes. But, as you can see, I am also stronger!" She said playfully, exhibiting her muscles.
"I can see! My pretty little monster!" You replied, laughing at her.
"So...what were you two talking about?" Ártemis asked, sitting on a stool in the kitchen.
"I was just telling your mother that maybe It's time for you to study at Nevermore." Calista said, looking from Ártemis to Gaia, seeking support.
"Wait...are you serious? Oh my goodness, thank you!" Ártemis jumped out of the stool and held her mother close in a tight hug. Calista searched for Gaia's great green eyes, waiting for her to say something. "Are you both aware I would be almost a thousand miles away from home? By my own! Is it okay?" Ártemis asked, stepping back.
"I was saving all this conversation for after the dinner, but you two are in a hurry to discuss this. So, I called you both today to announce that I am the new Botany Professor at Nevermore Academy!" Gaia was beaming in joy. Returning to their old school was in her life plans after graduation, but marriage and Ártemis made her delay it.
"Heeey... What a great news, mom! Congratulations!" Ártemis hugged Gaia.
"Well done, G! What an achievement! A whole life dream. I'm proud of you!" Calista cheered her ex-wife, indeed.
"Thank you for the support. From both of you! I was interviewed by the deputy headmaster last week after I applied for the position. And today, the big news came!" Gaia was beyond happiness. "That's why I wanted to talk to you. As a member of the school staff and a mother, Ártemis has a vacancy there. And I agree with you, Calista. Nevermore is the right place for her, for all outcasts, in my opinion." Gaia completed.
Dinner time passed smoothly. Calista decided to go on vacation to help Gaia and Ártemis move to Vermont. Ártemis was thrilled about going to a school for outcasts. She wanted to know all about the school. Her two mothers happily fulfilled such a task. They told her about the school, the events Nevermore held, and their outcast fellows. When they mentioned their friends' powers, Ártemis became quiet and with a distant stare.
"Temis, darling, what is going on?" Calista was worried about her daughter's sudden change in mood.
"Do you think they gonna accept me? Me and my powers?" Ártemis asked Calista and Gaia. The mothers exchanged glances.
"I must admit that we haven't met any shapeshifter back in our time, right, Calista?" Gaia reached for her ex-wife.
Calista has met a shapeshifter at Nevermore. Larissa Weems, her teenage crush. But Larissa made Calista promise never to tell anyone about her, so Calista never did. Including now. Seeing her daughter and her doubts about herself made Calista heartache, but Calista kept the promise. Shapeshifters were not well accepted, including among outcasts. Exposing one on behalf of the other was no use for Calista. But she came up with an idea. Maybe Larissa, wherever she is, could help Ártemis find herself and understand her powers. Making a mind note, Calista decided to call Larissa at another moment and ask her for assistance.
"Shapeshifters are rare. But we are very supportive at Nevermore. Rivalry and fights occur for common reasons, as with the normies. Powers are never used as a form of bullying. I am pretty sure you're going to fit in. Besides, if you don't feel confident enough to tell your friends about your powers, just don't. Take your time." Calista reassured her daughter. "In my opinion, you should be worrying about having your mother as your botany teacher." Calista joked. Ártemis bulged her eyes, suddenly remembering this "tiny" detail.
"Oh my goodness! Mumma G, will you take it easy on me, please?" Ártemis pleaded with puppy eyes.
"Have I ever taken?" Gaia smirked.
"Not that I can recall." Ártemis seemed defeated.
"There you go, your answer, child. But I feel you won't need any help from me or anyone. " Gaia winked affectionately at her daughter.
"Good luck with that, babe." Calista wished to Ártemis playfully. The dynamic between the two was very well-known for Calista. Gaia was stern to Ártemis. Ártemis was clever and skillful, but her low self-esteem stood in her way. She didn't trust herself. So Gaia tried hard to make Ártemis see her greatness. Sometimes, Gaia tried too hard. Keeping the balance between them was a role played by Calista. And now, with their departure, all she could do was wish good luck to both.
"Well...I think we call it a day. Tomorrow, I'll ask for my vacation and be free to help you guys pack." Calista declared. "Now, bed!" She pointed out to Ártemis.
"Can I have a hot chocolate before bed?" Ártemis required.
"Hot chocolate? Really? After this marvelous dinner and a panna cotta for dessert?" Calista exclaimed incredulously. "I am still trying to figure out where this taste for hot chocolate comes from. It's not from me. I am sure." Calista pointed out.
"It's a cozy drink, almost an affectionate one. I don't know why." Ártemis said dreamly.
"A whisky is a cozy drink for me," Gaia whispered.
"Can I try it? Maybe I'll change my cozy drink." Ártemis asked, half playful, half expectant.
"Of course not! You're fifteen. I'll make you a hot chocolate, and then, bed!" Calista finished that strange conversation about cozy drinks.
Later, at home, Calista decided to call Larissa. It's been a while since they last spoke. She dialed the numbers and anxiously waited for Larissa to answer.
Larissa Weems' answering machine: "Hello, you've reached Larissa Weems. I'm unable to come to the phone right now. Leave your message, and I'll return your call when I'm free. Thank You."
"Hey, Larissa. It's me, Calista. Calista Cos'Anto, by the way. It's been a while. Guess what! I have a daughter who is coming to Nevermore Academy this year. Can you believe it? Well, I'm calling to ask you for some help. I know I have disappeared since the last time we've seen each other, but only you can help. Ártemis, my daughter, is a shapeshifter, and you are the only shapeshifter I've ever met before her. Don't worry, I still keep my promise. No one knows about you. But Ártemis has trust issues and doesn't know how to control her powers. I was wondering if you could help her. I don't know if you are back in England or still live in the US. Call me back if you feel you can help me. I hope you are doing great. See you. Bye."
Well, that was it. There was no turning back. Calista's mind was spinning. Too many emotions for just one day. Her beloved daughter was going away; she had just sent a message to her former crush, and now she was returning to Nevermore, even if it was just for a few weeks.
She could barely wait to see her old school again and make sure it would be a home for her daughter as it was for her.

So...steroids.
I love them. They've been a big push in bringing my energy back to normal levels, in addition to reducing obnoxious swelling and allowing me to do other important things like...you know...breathe. And they kinda make my productivity feel like it can conquer the world.
But they also make me feel like I need to eat everything under the sun. Which, as a pharmacist, I knew could happen but geez I did not expect it to be this intense.
Tumblr media
(visual depiction of what it's like being me right now, for reference)
In the grand scheme of things I'll absolutely take this new development over constant lethargy and shortness of breath but WOW am I gonna have to re-haul my diet at some point in the future 🤪

Guess who has FUCKING SEPSIS.
THIS BITCH.
Nuuuugh. I knew I felt like shit but wow, when my body screws me over it doesn't hold back.
Sepsis is when an infection ( like the one in my FUCKING LEG) spreads to the bloodstream and FUCKS YOU UP.
I am on SO MANY ANTIBIOTICS. Like 1800mg a day of a POWERFUL prescription.
And there's a chance they might not work. And if that happens it's back to the ER.
Also if I don't pee by tomorrow - BACK TO THE FUCKING ER.
I don't know why the ER doc didn't rehydrate me. I'm actually severely dehydrated according to my blood tests... (the hospital's app lets you view your test results) So, now I have to do it myself. Carefully. My kidneys hurt.
Pharmacist was WAY MORE helpful than ER doc. (he was a 'I know more than you do so your thoughts don't matter' type and my nurse was a BITCH). (Like I get that hospitals are overrun and people are tired, but please don't treat sick people like shit. We're not happy we're there either)
So I'm drinking pedialyte. Apple pedialyte. It tastes like it's tasting you back. (Should have picked the fruit punch).
I'm also hoping that the powerful anti-nausea meds I have will let me EAT. Haven't been able to eat more than a few crackers in.... (Fuck. What day is it? (I THINK it's wednesday... No shit it's Thursday) 3 days.
This sucks the big one.
I so wish Ultron was real. I need a goddamn hug.

NINTH! have u watched anything new recently that you liked? or supremely disliked?
okay so I was holding off on answering this until after my exam this morning but then I woke up sick as a dog so now this is my consolation prize.
Anyway!! Let me tell you the wonders of one of the latest shows I’ve watched: Parallel World Pharmacy, aka Isekai Yakkyoku!
Tumblr media
so side note I’m coming back to this after finishing typing the whole thing and holy wow I went on a bit of a ramble. Idk how to put things under a “read more” on mobile so this is your only warning :)
Our main character is a research pharmacist, who works hard to discover new drugs to benefit patients. However he realizes too late that he misses working with real patients - the main reason why he became a pharmacist. Unfortunately, our dude dies from overworking because setting healthy limits for ourselves is so last century.
Tumblr media
Surprise surprise however - he doesn’t go to the afterlife or whatnot - instead he wakes up in the body of Pharma de Medicis, a ten year old boy who is the son of the head pharmacist in a medieval fantasy world (listen I know how it sounds stick with me)
Part of this world’s mechanics are that nobles are distinct from commoners by the fact that they are able to wield a specific element (hello atla). Before our dude moved in, Pharma had previously only been able to create water (these nobles can wield one of the four elements, and only in a create or destruct way - never both and never more than one). Somehow, Pharma 2.0 now has the ability to create and destroy any element he can think of (hello 21 century knowledge) and uses his knowledge of chemical structures to create medications to help those around him. Through reasons, he is able to open the first pharmacy for nobles and commoners alike, and quickly grows in popularity.
Tumblr media
Okay so now for my thoughts on the whole thing. I’m gonna be honest, the main reason I clicked on it was because the title said pharmacy and I am actually currently in pharmacy school. I may have gotten a wee bit excited that there was an anime out there focused on my career path (because let’s be honest have you ever seen anything about pharmacy? they say pharmacy is a small world and they are absolutely correct). As I was watching, Pharma actually consistently used accurate treatments for all the conditions he finds which was so exciting for me. I remember there was one episode where a person had tuberculosis - I only learned about the treatments for that sometime last year and the anime got it all right, down to even the chemical structure. So yeah on that hand it’s super cool for me.
One potential drawback - my man Pharma is ridiculously OP, and consistently continues to get more so. I actually looked up the manga after finishing the anime and the manga does a better job of actually showing him get tired and hitting his limits (which was a great callback to you know HOW HE DIED IN THE FIRST PLACE) but still. There’s an amusing bit with some characters who believe him to be an incarnation of the God of Medicine (which the further we get into the story the more likely it seems) and keeps hinting that he may not have much longer in this world for all the power he has, which would be nice to see as a limiter on how much he can do. The story does show how Terrifying he can be with access to so much power, which is also really cool
Story-wise, I found the whole thing pretty compelling. Again I may be biased re: the whole pharmacy thing, but I honestly really enjoyed the whole thing. Another drawback - really long times between updates, or maybe just for English translations. It’s been at least 2 months since the last chapter was posted, which yes not that long but also I want more
also the overall style is just absolutely amazing I love the art and backgrounds etc so here have a few more pics
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall I think it was a really good show/manga, though if I had to pick between the two I’d go with the manga largely due to just how much More there is and for actually giving him limits and such.
lol that got a lot longer than I thought it would. thanks for letting me ramble!

Not me finding out you have to go to college to be a pharmacist 👀
OH YEAH FOR SURE !! i get this a lot bc a lot of people hear pharmacist and immediately think of the techs you see at the counter. which, seriously we love techs they're the actual backbone of the pharmacy. i worked as tech for 4?? years and wow ouchie.
without getting toooo far into it, the basic setup of a pharmacy team is like this:
Pharmacy Tech: Usually don't need extra schooling qualifications unless they're Certified, which means they passed an exam and are licensed with the Board of Pharmacy. They can count prescriptions, complete prescription handovers to patients, receive prescriptions, and complete intake paperwork for vaccine and covid-test appointments. They can also give vaccines if they take the certification course. They cannot answer any medical questions, check prescriptions, or review medical information on patient records for accuracy/safety.
Pharmacy Intern: a current PharmD candidate who is licensed with the Board of Pharmacy, and can do everything a tech can with some more additions. They can counsel patients on medical information, meaning they can answer medical questions and advise patients on how to take their medications. In some states they can do Control Counts (making sure the pharmacy has the right amount of controls consistent with the inventory number). They can do transfers of prescriptions between pharmacies (except controls), and can do some reviewing of patient medical records with pharmacist supervision. This is what I am.
Pharmacist: They have completed their PharmD (or BS, if earned prior to 2000) and have passed the NAPLEX and MPJE. They fill prescriptions, check for safety, accuracy, and check for any duplication/unnecessary meds. They are the supervisor of the entire pharmacy team and answer questions to ensure patient safety.
Pharmacist-in-charge (PIC): USUALLY, especially now that there's a major shortage, there's only one pharmacist on shift at a time. However, if there's multiple then there's a PIC who is in charge. They're also in charge of making sure all pharmacy laws are being upheld.
Pharmacy Manager: Someone who has completed their PharmD and required exams. They are more in charge of business operations. Inventory, policy, managing the team.
This also can vary by state as every state has their own Board of Pharmacy and their own laws. This is also for a community pharmacy, it can look different for hospitals. Such as often for a hospital position, it's expected you complete a PGY1 (sometimes and a PGY2) residency.

Happens all the time. I feel wonderful. Then someone reminds me how sick I am. I start feeling terrible.
Had my blood pressure checked just for the heck of it at a pharmacy while Jake was looking for lens cleaner for his glasses. Pharmacist remarked "Wow, that's an awfully high blood pressure reading. Do you feel ok, sir?" I said I did. He gave me a bottle of cold water for free and told me to just keep sitting at the blood pressure machine and take it easy while my nephew shopped. Came by to ask me once more if I felt all right before I left. "You aren't dizzy or anything?" I realize he was trying to be helpful. I appreciated it.
I mean, I knew the reading was high but that didn't mean much to me. It's always high. Has been for 40+ years. But after how concerned the pharmacist appeared, I feel bad. My head hurts. I'm nauseous and tired...
I guess I just wish people would stop reminding me how sick I am because when I'm not thinking about it, I actually feel pretty good most of the time.

The evolution of Noah Thy Creature
wow I am bored af but let me info dump rq teehee, ofc there's gonna be Thy Creature spoilers but its mainly from outdated stuff like the demo/early access so it's not detrimental to the canon lore, just a documentation of how hes portrayed.
The first edition of Noah was with his character profile in March 2021
Tumblr media
"A kind and wise mortician. But there is a rumor about him. He never prays for himself."
Portrayed as kind and mysterious, also oddly pious as he prays, to God or whatever idk if hes Christian.
In the kickstarter trailers he is briefly mentioned once, never shown, you meet beta Alex and Justine first instead.
Then there is his demo, "Muscular man in glasses. Kind and level-headed, but somehow uncomfortable to make eye contact with. Claims to not be a pharmacist but has fingers that reek of chemicals."
Still kind, but also with the new information that he's uncomfortable to make eye contact with. I actually have a theory that his eyes are of an unnatural color via supernatural reasons or symbolism. Like how victor and the creature are associated with yellow eyes when that is not a natural eye color for humans to have. A "eyes are the windows to the souls" type beat.
Poc like Noah should not be able to have blue eyes? It depends though. But it's also possible hes biracial bc of his straight hair and nose. Mazm can do poc features considering Mihir Saha and Crack is on the team, so it may be a deliberate design choice to imply his ethnicity because the main focus is not on his ethnicity so it's not as if they can just drop that.
Ok that was very offtopic but in the demo he relatively has a nice demeanor but he's like. since I did this for you, you have to do this for me. Like very entitled, already giving red flags but whatever maybe he's a little quirky. You also meet him first too, and only him bc its a short demo.
Tumblr media
That is where he goes from bad to worse bc the early access amps it up by 10. His bio in that edition is "A well built man with glasses. He stares as if his cold eyes are looking through people. His calm voice is low and deep." and then something similar to the he insists hes not a pharmacist thing. His blue eyes are described as cold, so it really may be a personality thing.
This time right off the bat he asks for monetary compensation from the creature, not even a pay back a favor, just straight up money. He has bandages on his hands and a snazzy new pendant. He's far more snarky and dickish in the EA. It's almost funny. He says shit abt how beggars on the street ask him for free services and that he wasnt a charity when the nepe steals his memories from him. But he develops a friendship with the creature anyways, you can see he had loved ones and people he cared for. He wasn't heartless, just reserved. For quite a bit of time you are with him alone and he's the first one you meet, so he has a special role.
I only watched Millie Parfaits stream and some rumors abt the final edition, but from what I hear, Noah gets meaner? From what I saw however he was, kind of the same tbh. Although the personal connection to him gets ruined because you don't meet him alone at first, you meet with him justine and El together. An interesting thing I noticed was they somewhat remembered his pious aspect from his wayyyyy older bio. He wanted to help kids in the slums which ties into the fact that he only prayed for others, never himself. a selfless aspect.
I wonder, is the reason he insists he's not a pharmacist or a doctor or whatever is because that job is associated with helping/caring and he doesnt want to be taken advantage of that way/doesnt wanna be seen as kind.

Greetings from Bar-sur-Aube, where the weather is 8c and mostly sunny….. hang on a minute Météo is now saying rain is due (that wasn’t forecast).
This morning, bright and early, I drove out to discover a few villages I had either seen signposts for or had just driven through, on the main road, heading elsewhere. It really does pay to look beyond that row of houses on the main road.
First I turned off the main road and drove up a hillside, the road was surrounded by trees and the dappled light coming through the tree canopy was a delight. Over the top of the hill I drove down into the village of Éclance, I didn’t park up (it’s not very big) and I continued my journey to Trannes. I had seen a sign for a lavoir but I couldn’t spot it from the car and so continued on my way. I passed the church which did look lovely but didn’t stop. The purpose of my journey was to visit La Rothiere, where on the 1st February 1814 a great battle raged between Napolian’s army and a German/Russian army. This village was a delight, I parked up on the aptly named Rue du 1er Fevrier 1814, as I was getting out of the car the distinct sound of the grues (cranes) flying towards the lakes filled the air. To my left was “La mare” a stagnant body of water with signage showing little toads which inhabit it in the spring. I then spotted a lavoir (top photo) and the church at the top of the street (second photo). I wandered around for a while then drove to the war memorial I had passed as I arrived. It was a huge memorial for such a small place (114 inhabitants) commemorating the dead of 1814, 1870-1871 and 1914-1918. Rather than drive to Dienville to see Lac d’Amance, which I suspected would be busy with people wanting to see “la grue”, I drove home. It was a wonderful way to spend a pleasant time on a Sunday.
So what else have I been up to this week…. well I visited “Count Dracula” again and had more blood taken, it was difficult to take and they didn’t seem to get a lot but it was enough and the results were with me by the afternoon.
Pauline, was in town to visit her grandmother and she called round to see me on the 1st November “Toussaint”. It was great to see her and it was such a lovely day that we even managed to sit outside for a time.
I then had a cleaner arrive to give me a hand with the housework. Well to be honest she was “more broken down” than I am. She was shuffling around and didn’t get half of the work done that I had thought she would. Next week there will be a list and to be honest if she doesn’t get a move on, she will be given the elbow. Do I expect too much, I am not sure!
I managed to book the taxi to take me to Nancy, however, speaking to the pharmacist on Saturday he said I shouldn’t go for the appointment while I have “no rights to healthcare” as it could cost a lot of euros and it may not be refunded 😳.
I went to a (free) concert in Dienville with Anie and her friend Monique (she drove us there), it was the “orchestre aubois des jeunes” it was wonderful, full of energy and the hall was packed! I was out late (that’s not like me) and it was 10.30pm when we got back to Anie’s and I had to drive home! No problems so that was good.
I have had my flu jab, am due to take my last antibiotic this lunchtime and hopefully I will be feeling ok for a while longer.
“The Daddy” flew to Amsterdam on Thursday, he should arrive back in the UK today. My gorgeous grandson, threw his head back and managed to give “The Mummy” a black eye! My gorgeous granddaughter is doing really well in school and it was lovely to see a video of her reading , using her finger under the words and building up the letters, wow I remember learning to read that way too.
“The Paralegal” who is also the hospital visitor, was on that duty yesterday but not before he had been out shopping for himself. He has had a “happy new haircut” and hopefully he will be “making a list, checking it twice” not because he is Santa but just to aid him through the coming weeks.
I found this short poem and thought it apt, Risk by Anais Nin
“And then the day came,
when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful
than the risk it took to blossom.”
Oh yes, I have purchased Xmas cards and stamps, so must get organised writing those. It doesn’t seem much like Xmas being around the corner does it?
I am now going to eat my lunch, and then catch up on a few jobs before I settle down to some knitting or stitching up.
Have a good week until next week!

My most powerful talent.
Wow, I can not believe it has been 4 years since i have written in the blog and a lot has happened!! A lot. Even so, let me tell you about last week.
One of our more "complicated" patients were admitted during the night. A lot of "He said, we said, they said" went on, but nothing was done. A table of nurses, pharmacist, physicians and other disciplinaries were sitting around the table and no one understood what the plan was for this patient and where to even start. Then I felt 7 pairs of eyes look at me and one said "So what are you going to do about her ma'am?" I couldn't believe I solely had the responsibility to figure out the care and plan for this patient.
As the day went on, NO ONE, i mean no one wanted to touch this patient. Then, I took over the conversation and placed things in perspective and BOOM. There was momentum in her care and she got what she needed. Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants and registered nurses all listened to me. I was simple, straight forward, but real.
On that day, I used my talent, my most powerful talent: my tongue and it gave that girl life.
A couple days later I saw my L and he told me some terrible things. That I had said some things and it made him feel unwelcomed and ungrateful on my birthday! It was so hard to hear those things. He continued to say that my words were so hurtful that he did not want to spend my next birthdays with me (I am still trying to process that). I cried, for like an hour.
It took me over 2 years and so many miles to build this relationship, this foundation with my L and it came tumbling down after just a few words.
In one week, my most powerful talent, the one thing I am very much known for, gave someone life and healing, but then killed the relationship of me and my L.
I don't want that same tragedy to happen to people. Today I am given the opportunity to do Children's Story and THAT is what I am going to teach about: the tongue - our double edge sword.
I am going to write out this next portion as I am going to speak about it in church. This is one of my favorite stories.
Happy Sabbath boys and girls! Welcome back to children's story where this time during our church service is specifically for you!
Anyone here know what a weapon is?
A weapon is used for two things: to either kill or to protect.
Who here has a weapon? Everyone here carries a weapon, I know I have a weapon with me at all times! This weapon on me is so strong that it can make people move, scare away bears and it is so powerful that it can kill someone else and your weapon can do the same thing!
Can anyone guess what that weapon is? YOUR TONGUE!
When people tell me: don't say bad things, I always think about the "bad words" that are inappropriate, but this lesson is deeper than that.
Before we start our lesson, let's read our memory verse: Proverbs 15:1-2
For the bigger kids & adults behind me, if you want to follow along with our lesson, please open up your Bibles to 1 Samuel 25:1-38
In the book of 1 Samuel chapter 25, there was a very rich man named Nabel. This guy was rich! He owned property near the town of Carmel and he owned 3K sheep and 1k goats! Sounds rich huh?
He married this woman who was described to be sensible, smart and can manage his riches. He sounds lucky huh?
Lucky, for Nabel, King David had his 600 men were stationed near his property. while King David's men were there, Nabel's animals were never harmed, Nabel's shepherds were safe and were never robbed.
Sounds like Nabel was living the good life.
One day, one of King David's men found Nabel and said "Hi Nabel, we were sent by King David and we have been providing your flock and shepherds with protection. Would you be kind and please share with us some food and water?"
Do you think rich Nabel would be able to afford it?
This is what Nabel said in return
"David? Who is this David? Who does he think he is? There are lots of servants these days who run away from their master. Should I take my bread, my water and my meat that I harvested, slaughtered and sheared myself and give it to these people who came from who knows where???"
Well, Nabel's words got back to King David and it infuriated King David. "Get your swords!" King David said and with 400 men, his plan was to kill Nabel, everything he owned and his family!
Meanwhile, one of Nabel's servants told Abigail who had no idea any of this was going on. Abigail had to think smart and had to think fast.
So she gathered meat, bread, grains, fruit, wine and packed her donkey. She and her servants went to face King David themselves!
When she came face to face with King David, he was so angry!! Abigail fell at his feet and asked for his forgiveness. "Please my King.. I accept all the blame for this. Please do not pay attention to my husband Nabel."
King David looked at her and said "I did a lot of good for Nabel, because of the protection I provided, Nabel prospered!" but at the same time, was impressed with how her words calmed him down and decided not to kill Nabel after all.
Before they departed ways, Abigail used her words to bless him. "My King, I know the Lord lives in you because he kept you from murdering my husband and taking vengeance on your hands. So let all your enemies be cursed."
In this entire story, did you hear me say any "bad words" any inappropriate words? No, the words that were spoken in this story are words that we use and say every day.
But our words matter. The way we say our words, where you say it, how you say and who you say it to... all matters.
Nabel's words almost got himself, his animals and family killed. King David's words was able to provide protection at first and then ordered a murder! Then Abigail was able to use her gentle words to save her husband and gave him life.
Before we separate, i just want to share one more Bible verse:
James 3:10 Blessing and cursing come from the same mouth. My brothers and sisters it should not be this way.

I asked my HS, if I am just making this connection up, if I am forcing myself to feel something that isn’t inherently there.
In the dream I was on a luxury cruise like the Titanic and I was getting ready for dinner. Putting on my facial creams and thinking about what to wear. AH was there with my family and getting ready in our suite. She was trying to brush her teeth in the bathroom and I think my brother was there. I could hear from my room that they were trying to fix something broken in there. Something in the bath/toilet. I came in trying to help. She said ‘oh yes maybe a pharmacist can help’. She had a cream coloured broken hand soap dispenser that goes in some some bath thing. The state of it was disgusting. She showed me how it wouldn’t go into it’s slot. We got to talking and she said it has something to do with the inflow and outflow of water and that’s why the bath looked filthy. I noticed a fish had come in through the water inlet. It was a beautiful fish, it looked like the The Rainbow Fish from the children’s book but real. I remember it’s reflective scales. It looked like a sad fish. (Wow, I just looked up the book ‘the book is best known for its message about self-denial’). We must have fished it out of the bath because I remember going into my closet and seeing it there on the floor in a make-shift pond made out of a plastic bag. It was swimming round in circles. I remember feeling so bad that it was stuck in a tiny area in my closet, and how the water in the bag must be awful. I remember the water in the bag was draining away very quickly. The fish was no longer swimming around but was tilting head first toward the centre. It was dying or perhaps already dead. I wanted to pick it up and toss it into the ocean, but I was scared to do it for some reason. I wanted my dad to do it. Interpretation: Vanity, pride as an outer mask. The true beauty you hold inside, that makes you unique and special is hidden away. You do not let others see, that you do not want to set free. It is a type of self-denial. To reject him is to reject yourself. Do not deny that there is something truly beautiful happening here. You are sweeping it under the rug. See how others rejected you today. As you reject him, who is just another version of you, see how the people in your outer reality will reflect this. If you continue to do this, you will be worse off for it.
I had a dream that I was at a train station and trying to get to work or school or something. I felt it was odd because I never take public transport anymore, I always drive. This scene was interwoven with another scene where I was telling my sister that is how I know this is a dream, because that part didn’t make sense. I felt so satisfied with myself that I had figured it out. It felt so real. I felt the dream become less real and more real depending on my focus. I tried to hug SM as we were standing at the undercover section of the station but he didn’t feel real. I felt no energy from him.  Interpretation: Everything is a dream you created, you created SM. He becomes more or less NPC depending on your focus and desire.
I got a message from SB that something was due, I hadn’t even started it. She said I don’t think it’s a deadline but I felt rude handing in more than two pages at a time to be marked. When I went to class and the teacher confirmed that it was due. I started to panic a bit because I hadn’t done it but then I remembered that this is just a dream and that there is no point to feel this way. I believed in this in totality, completely. And then the realness of the dream fell apart and dissolved as soon as I brazenly knew it to be so and then I think I woke up. Interpretation: Any time you feel fear, you are tricking yourself into believing that this is all real. It is not. Remain neutral, remain in the knowing that it is not real, and the fear will dissolve because it just a thought. The truth will present itself as long as you do not fear.

Did a tiny bit of vaccination before work, then had the most wonderful yet chaotic day shadowing the acute oncology nurse. Fine, except I also had to keep an eye on the ward. I was going to skip lunch to do the ward but then it turns out I had three lunchtime meetings so had zero time to even attend all of them let alone do anything else, but it all worked out in the end. Except I had barely any lunch and I did not drink enough water. At least the vancomycin dose was appropriate. It was actually a really good day, I loved the chaos, I loved being a pharmacist and I enjoyed doing my first phone consultation. Also look my spider plant has flowers! 🌼
Quarantine fall study challenge: how do you organise your to dos?
I sometimes write a list, but honestly I’m really awful and will rely on my brain to remind me, and then it doesn’t, and then a few weeks later I’m like oh I didn’t do that thing. In work it’s deffo lists and tick boxes, and I do try to bring that into my study life, but I’ve got so lazy with my organisation now my revision is purely making notes on ONE book.
