There are a lot of things that you can fake in this world. Most people don't want to see the predator inside… The harder I squeeze, the more I remember. I remember what it's like to be me.

Welcome to Letters2fiction!
The concept here is to send in a question or a letter request, and you’ll get a response from your fictional character of choice, from the list below. Please stick to the list I’ve made, but of course, you can ask if there’s some other characters I write for, I don’t always remember all the shows, movies or books I’ve consumed over the years and I’m sure I’m missing a lot 😅

Of Grief (post 7x02 Outlander fic)
Shock and denial
Their granddaughter is perfect — flawless, miraculous. He's known that the same way he knew that Claire was meant for him, that instantaneous, unquestionable resetting of the world.
And yet Claire says it is not so, that there is something within Amanda that must be fixed, that cannot be fixed.
"Even with the ether?" he asks, as if his wife might have forgotten that tool, as if with that remembered she can reverse this nightmare. Claire had healed him, after all — hand, heart — when he'd tried to die. She can do anything. It is impossible that she cannot do this.
“No.”
Pain and guilt
He has the McCallum lad exercising the foal. He tells himself that it is practice, accustoming everyone to the routine for when they leave, but knows in his heart that he simply cannot stand doing it himself, cannot face the idea that he will never see girl and horse grow alongside each other, never guide his granddaughter's hands on the reins or race her along the Ridge.
It is such a small thing to ache for, overcome by the vastness of his need for Mandy to be well. And yet it hurts, because he had allowed himself finally to hope.
Anger and bargaining
He has his prayers, his peaceful face, strong shoulders for the others to lean on, but there is so much rage in him. At night, he stares at the inn's ceiling, demanding to know how this is just.
I have sinned uncountably, and You saved my leg at the final moment. You allowed me the choice to return here. You have kept me from harm that should have rightfully struck me down. Would my life not be fairly traded for this innocent?
And yet he continues to breathe, remains healthy and whole, forced to give up his precious ones again.
Depression
Later, Claire says, raw-throated, "I didn't grieve them this way before, and I thought they’d left just as permanently. Why does it hurt so much more now?"
Because we still had Fergus and Marsali then. Because we're worried over Mandy's heart atop everything, and you blame yourself for not being able to fix it. Because this was no one's choice.
"Because when they came back before, we lost the fear that they would leave," he says. "Because we convinced ourselves that we'd have them forever."
He finds that his own tears have fallen. He does not bother wiping them away.
The upward turn
Sometimes he wishes his missing would expel in a draining gush. It is a perpetual haunting instead, each time he sees the abandoned cabin or hears a child laugh like Jem.
But Claire is here, still. The days cannot remain dark forever.
Aidan McCallum falls ill, and Jamie must work the foal himself. The simple act, done a hundred times, hurts between each rib. And yet seeing the way the creature has grown helps him picture the way Mandy must be growing too - a joyous thought, even if he is not there to watch.
He names it, finally: Mirren. Beloved.
Reconstruction and working through
There are things which help: convincing Lizzie that she needs time alone with her (Christ) husbands and having an infant's weight in his arms once more, someone to soothe through the night; receiving word from New Bern that all is well; reading the latest news or corresponding with the Sons of Liberty as Brianna's America takes shape around them; holding Claire and remembering the children with her, or simply being reminded that she has remained.
There are things which help, and although he knows that there are parts of him which cannot ever heal, sometimes it can feel like enough.
Acceptance and hope
"I'll remember you to the children," Roger Mac said — a historian's particular gift, one well-received by a man who thought the legacy of his generations lost more than once. So Jamie must believe that his grandson will recall him and this place, that his granddaughter will be raised on tales of those who loved her here: her grandmother's healing hands and sharp mind (and sharper tongue), her grandfather who was stableboy, soldier, laird (but liked husband and father best).
There are, Claire promises, still horses in the future. Even if he cannot teach her, his strong wee Mandy will ride.

Single Chapter 34
AO3
To see his eldest son married had been amazing. To hold their first grandchild, then second, then third, Fergus and Marsali are very fertile, aye all those things were brilliant.

But to see their Brianna joined with Roger Mac, that took his breath away.

As he promised Claire, she wasn’t  allowed to be married until age eighteen. This made several would be suitors quite angry. With a firm hand, he held his ground. A grand thing as it was only at seventeen that she meet Roger.

As her papa before her, she knew immediately that he was the one made for her.

“Mama, he is perfect! I know he was made to be my husband!” she enthused to Claire and eleven year old, Julia, who listens intently, “Please help me convince Papa!”

Papa took some convincing, as the man was a Protestant minister.

“Jamie, it is like it was with us. She loves him. He is a good man.”

After speaking at length to the lad, and securing his promise that the children will be baptized as Catholics, he reluctantly agrees to their courtship.

Now he stands, his own bride by his side, and watches his baby girl, become a wife.

Kyle, at thirteen, is eyeing the lasses that have come for the ceremony. He knows it is time for the talk his da had with him.

Marsali and Fergus are busy with their bairns, Germaine, Joanie, and Feliciá. Despite the youngest still being at the breast, Marsali is pregnant again.

“Isn’t there something she can do or take to prevent so many bairns?” He asks Claire at this news.

“I have tried to instruct her, as I did Brianna,” he winces at the idea of his baby needing such instructions, “ I believe she will be more receptive.”

She was. It is two years after her marriage, and a year after the birth of John-Herní, she presents Roger with a son, Jeremiah, called Jemmy. Four years later, he is joined by Amanda. Mandy.

Kyle marries a lass named Rebekah. Four years later, Julia weds Samuel.

Lallybroch is full to bursting when their families gather. They all live close, with the children and their families all building houses on the property.

Claire smiles as she pens a letter that she prays will find its way, through history to Kyle, John, and Glenda.

“My dearest friends,

Julia was here today. She and Kyle’s wife are both expecting. This will be Rebekah ‘s third and Julia’s second. Both are close to delivery.

Julia brought my grandson, Samuel James, with her. He looks so much like the portraits I have seen of Jamie at his age. A blessing though we are hopeful that this coming child will resemble his father.
Bree’s Jemmy is courting! Yes, I may soon have a great-grandchild to write you about.
Time, it seems to move faster and faster.
I pray this letter finds you and that you are all doing well. I shall never forget all you have done for me. All of these people are here because you helped me return to my love.
Blessings on you all
Love
Claire Elizabeth Fraser
In the year of our Lord
1780.”

Update on filming S7 dates and location October 2022
I did explore some more about filming locations and dates for this month by taking a peek at what the extras are scheduled for.
This week there seems not much going on including extras. Only some studio costume fitting today and covid tests next Friday. Which doesn't mean they're not filming of course, but could indicate only the main cast is involved filming. We learned from last weekend, as S told he needed to go back to Scotland for shooting OL, filming will be ongoing this week. Just not including extras for as far as I've found out.
Next week is more interesting though. At least filming on Monday and Tuesday (17&18) for some extras on 2 locations. One being Cambusmore (usually used for Frasers Ridge), the ones there include the 2 extras I posted about before being Jamie and Roger doubles, though they have as role 'Redcoats' for these days listed.
The other location on the same dates is Dalmeny. The extras have roles as 'Philadelphia travelers', both women and men. They film there on October 17&18 as well on October 31 and November 1st.
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 SPOILER ALERT AHEAD 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Concerning Philadelphia there are parts in the books "An Echo in the Bone" and "Written in my own Hearts blood"
Beneath a summary from outlander.fandom.com
An Echo in the Bone
In July 1777, Lord John Grey arrives in Philadelphia, in order to find his son and have Henry, his nephew, paroled. By November 1777, he has begun renting Number 17 Chestnut Street.
Marsali and Fergus also relocate to Philadelphia in the summer of 1777, and Fergus runs his printing business near Spruce Street. When Claire returns from Scotland, she lives at Fergus's printshop for a time, then, believing Jamie dead, marries Lord John Grey and lives in his house in Chestnut Street.
Written in My Own Heart's Blood
After Jamie and Jenny arrive from Scotland, they and Claire begin living at Fergus's printshop.
The Frasers leave Philadelphia in the fall of 1778, after Henri-Christian's death.
So scenes with JLG, and perhaps we'll even see Fersali back (?) finally? As far as we've seen they haven't been on set so far for the season they're filming... keeping an eye on where they will be this month or end of the month and beginning November...
******************************************************************
While a number of them will be tested on Covid at the studio again on October 20, the next day again extras are scheduled for 2 different things. October 21st at Midhope as 'continentals' and the other listing is for Redcoats Starz Gallery. I'm not sure what this last one means 🤷‍♀️ More continentals are listed for 26, 27 & 28 October but now in Stirling.
Tumblr media
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 The next Part contains SPOILERS 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Additional I come back to a previous date a listing I didn't mention before, as I was puzzled about what it could mean. It contained a woman extra listed as 'house keeper of Brian Fraser'. I had some discussions about it, speculating are they already shooting something for the prequel. But I think it contains another story line. As we already learned that Chris Fulton joins this season playing Rob Cameron, it makes sense that the storyline of Jemmy being kidnapped is involved and Roger going back through the stones searching for his son. I always thought he'd go back to the time of Jamie and Claire, but as it turns out he's going back to 1739!
From outlander.fandom.com
An Echo in the Bone
Jemmy becomes friends with Rob Cameron's nephew, which Cameron uses to kidnap Jem. Roger and Brianna believe that Cameron took Jemmy back to the past through the stones at Craigh na Dun. Rob arranges a playdate and sleepover between his nephew Bobby and Jemmy for October 30. However, he takes Jemmy to the stones at Craigh na Dun. Jemmy's sister Amanda senses that and alarms her parents, who phone Rob's sister Martina and learn that she wasn't expecting Jemmy this night. While Roger goes through the stones to look for Jemmy in the past, Rob Cameron locks Jemmy in the tunnel under Loch Errochty. He then visits Brianna and wants her to tell Jemmy to disclose the gold's location.
Written in My Own Heart's Blood
In October 1739, Brian and his daughter Jenny welcome Roger MacKenzie to their home. After learning from Roger than he and his kinsman are searching for his son Jeremiah MacKenzie, who has been kidnapped, Brian offers what help he can and checks with his tenants to see if anyone has seen the boy, or a strange man.
While Roger is away to check on his kinsman who had taken ill, Brian continues to keep his eyes and ears out for any word about Jeremiah.

Sinéad O’Connor’s performance at the Amnesty International Concert in Santiago de Chile, October 13, 1990
In 1990, I was a foolish 19-year-old who’d made a very lucky decision, one that came through an ongoing search for both escape and the path of least resistance, the themes of my life at the time. That same decision led a to numerous life-changing experiences, including one that brought me to a live Sinéad O’Connor performance. As an aging person, I think a lot about the past, but I have also been thinking about this all again with O’Connor’s death last week. RIP. (I appreciate the writing that Allyson McCabe has done about O’Connor, a good start being “Appreciation: Sinéad O’Connor was right all along,” “Why Sinéad O’Connor refused to be silenced,” and “Sinéad O’Connor Was Always a Protest Singer.” While I haven’t read it, I suspect that McCabe’s book Why Sinéad O'Connor Matters is very good. I also recommend Amanda Hess’s 2021 “Sinéad O’Connor Remembers Things Differently.”)
As a teen, I had really wanted to spend a year in another country and I didn’t want it to be an English-speaking one – that seemed to me as too similar to be worth the hassle. But I hadn’t really planned well and then needed to scramble to meet the two-year language requirement by signing up for Spanish classes too advanced for my level. Spanish was the only language other than English I’d ever really spent much time with and so it was my only real chance of getting there. I then applied for only one study abroad program, a newly formed one in Valparaíso, Chile. The choice was easy because as a program created at my university it meant the financial aid I was receiving for attendance at the university would apply to the total cost of the program, which even with airfare included ended up being a bit less than regular semesters on campus, and there was a guaranteed transfer of credits upon completion of the program.
My familiarity with Chile, its culture, its history, and its political situation was pretty much non-existent. Less than five months before my arrival, Patricio Alywin, the first post-dictator president, had taken in office. This was the result of the 1988 plebiscite. A lot was changing (and a lot wasn’t) in Chile and the same applied to me. I was finally open to learning in a way that I hadn’t been for years, the direct result of the informal learning inherent in an immersion program. And I was eager to experience as much as possible. One of the benefits of learning a new language can be that you are forced to speak less and listen more. I listened a lot and I learned a lot. I went places, walking and riding the bus all around Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. I didn’t travel far aside from a trip to La Serena and El Valle del Elqui with my host family and a trip to the south at the end of the semester, but I did frequently go to a few nearby places along the coast and into the interior of the Región and occasionally visited Santiago. Two months after I arrived, some classmates and I went to the Amnesty International concert “Desde Chile... un abrazo a la esperanza” (here’s an LA Times article on the concert) in the National Stadium there, the same stadium that had been the site of imprisonment, torture, and murder at the hands of Pinochet and his men. That’s where I saw Sinéad O’Connor just as you can see in the video above. Several artists played too: Luz Casal, Inti Illimani, Wyton Marsalis, Jackson Browne, Rubén Blades y Sesi de Solar, Sting, and Peter Gabriel.
By then, all that I had heard and read started to make more sense (the language too), and it began to transform me and change my perspective on the world. At the end of that year, I was in Puerto Montt and other areas of Southern Chile, and I distinctly remember arguing against the USian buildup to what would eventually become the Gulf War. I can’t imagine I’d arrived at that conclusion, among many others, if it weren’t for the series of events that had led up to me being there.

Outlander Episode 702
When Claire Fraser is disgusted to the point she’d like to take a shovel to your head, you know your life choices are problematic. Had she been armed with even a garden trowel, she would have brained Allan in the head and fed him to the pig. But Ian saves the day with a well placed arrow in the back. “He was right, Auntie. He had to die.” He and Claire bury the body and are caught by Mrs Bug who decides to jump in and help them. See ya’ll, she may have been the gossipmonger last season, but she’s nice! And she’ll help bury the bodies no questions asked. Oh, and hey thanks Ian...see you next week! Maybe..
This episode was in high gear - Episode 2 and they are almost 1/4 way through the book, which if 7a is Book 7 and 7b is Book 8 they are right on track. But nearly 2,000 pages of book crammed into 16 episodes means we are going at warp speed.
As the Macs are getting ready to go, Jamie gives Claire a gemstone in case she wants to go with them. He’s not brave enough to live without her, but brave enough to try for her sake. But, Claire’s not having it. She chucks it out the window and Jamie is all of us when he says, “you’re throwing it out?!” Yeah, Claire! Gemstones don’t grow on trees. Good luck finding that little black stone on the ground in the morning. Too bad she threw it, it might have come in handy later.
Lots of emotion this episode as we watch Bree meet William, and Jamie and LJ acknowledging that the war may mean they’ll never be on the same side again. Amanda is born (with dad and grandda present!) and after Claire discovers a heart problem, they decide her best chance is in the future. Heartbreaking scenes of Jamie and Bree saying goodbye. So sad. I’m not a crier, but even I needed a tissue at that one.
Back at the Big House, Claire breaks down as she realizes they’ve lost their whole family. No Fergus & Marsali, no Bree & RogerMac and no grandchildren. Jamie tries to comfort her while she sobs.
But as she does, Claire pulls herself together and life goes on. She’s walking up to the house one afternoon and gets the sense that something isn’t right. She goes into the house and that asshole Donner is there and he wants information and a gemstone. His gang brings in Jamie and it’s a good thing for Donner those guys had a hold on Jamie because when he hears Wendigo’s name he’s ready to rumble. Jamie tries a bit of acting on them saying that Claire hid the gemstones so they can’t kill her, but J&C are out of practice and Donner doesn’t believe them. The gang starts ransacking the surgery and they break open the ether bottle. Donner lights a match and BOOM! There goes the Big House.
Some other observations:
They introduced the French gold. Jamie and Arch going back and forth in gaelic. Oooh, plot point! It’s a big deal in the book, but I expect it will be a speed bump next week as we move on.
Lizzie’s throuple is going strong. If the Ridge is scandalized there’s no time for their shenanigans. They’re going to just have to deal.
William! One of my favorite characters. The actor playing William was pretty good for the short scene he was in. I’m looking forward to later in the season - he’s got some good stuff coming up.
Overall a very good episode. Just an emotional wringer though. Looking forward to next week.

OZARK 2017-2022

The Guardian.
