Well , tumblr... It's been a long time. To whoever reading this, thank you for following this blog still. Many of the people I've loved here moved on from this place, and it's no wonder. Meanwhile, for me it's like I never grew out of this place.

After a long time, I feel alone. Truth is, actually, I have made it that way again by closing off and not trusting anyone. Am I acting out of my trauma? Maybe, but in a same time, some real shit went down this 2 years. So... It's all coming back. The feelings I buried away? "But that was in the past.." yes, and they're back. Suddenly, I'm with my colleagues and I hate myself silently while they all smile and laugh. I hate myself because I can't relax in such good environment that I always wanted to be part of. And I feel ashamed because I shouldn't be feeling like that, right? I should overcome those feelings and give myself a chance to get out of there. But I can't do it.. not alone, maybe. I always felt like a weak shit because I needed someone to prove me wrong, to give me a reason to trust things could be different.

All the things I haven't done, what I haven't felt, the places I haven't been. I've been grieving my own life instead of moving on and giving it all to myself. I missed so much of life because I didn't give myself a chance to be open, be free and feel, out of fear of rejections and pain that comes with it.

Maybe the solution to overcoming fears, facing myself and being accountable of my actions and words, realizing where does my feelings come from and why... Is simply accepting the facts. Accepting the truths I denied. The simple sentence as "No one sees you as less or more than you really are" would ease my anxieties and make space for me to show up as myself more authentically. The simple truths that will soothe the pain of rejection, abandonment and make room for the new thoughts to grow.

I'm writing all this as a way to show myself it's possible to be a better person. I don't want to overthink my fears anymore. I want to be able to control my feelings and not let them overfill me, causing me to act on it. I want to be honest to myself because all this time I tried to do something for me but it was all either overthinking or suppressing and it left me feeling weak again. And by writing it here, somewhere, I feel that it's been said. Maybe no one will read it, I won't be heard, but I feel heard because Iwrote this to myself. I read it to myself and I heard myself.

It's a practice and I will try to fall in love with it, the self reflect. It's much easier to do it with someone whom you trust, others might see what you don't, but you can't rely on others that much, right?

Not sure if this is an incredibly aro take or not but did anyone else just stop reading women pov novels for years because they all went something like

[xxxxxx] is a strong independent warrior/business woman/princess who trained her whole life to get revenge on [insert devilish enemy] but when [handsome sexy boy name] arrives she must decide to [make it work/between vengeance and her heart/if he might be too radical]

But male POVs almost *never* do that?! (Mostly because those women are really seen as objects or are fridged [ask not what you can do for the patriarchy but what it can do for you])

the thing is. why was shouyou in jail for so long before being executed. i mean it doesn't really matter. in the end the set-up is what it is in order to force gintoki to make that choice on the cliff that day because it's what the entire story is based around. and the details aren't really important enough to dedicate time to.

but theoretically. if you were to think about it. the only logical answer is that he was being kept as a normal political prisoner. oboro was there, guarded him, exchanged words with him. a tendoushuu member was on the cliff that day. it seems very odd on the surface. to make sense of it, what must have been the case is that oboro and the naraku were there simply because the naraku by definition serves the tendoushuu, and the tendoushuu were simply the main representatives of amanto power influencing the japanese government. so oboro, presumably, just didn't tell the rest of the naraku who yoshida shouyou really was.

that kid in takasugi's flashback told his dad about shouka sonjuku to get back at takasugi for humiliating him. there were already rumours about shouyou spreading seditious ideas. the authorities were going to arrest shouyou for political reasons.

oboro saw shouyou living happily with his juniors and got so jealous he burned the school down.

in truth, these two facts may be two interpretations of the same event, simultaneously true despite being completely different. but if you had to arrange the two as separate events on a timeline, the first one must have happened, well, first. shouyou says to takasugi at the end of that flashback: welcome to shouka sonjuku. perhaps they weren't actually chased away that time, or perhaps they moved elsewhere and moved into a new building. gintoki is the only character who ever appears in the flashbacks where shouyou is being led away, where the school is burning, but we don't have details about that because we don't need to.

shouyou's willing to come quietly as long as his students aren't hurt--he's willing to sit in a prison cell for years, and he's willing to be executed on that cliff for the same reason. it probably chafed at oboro more than anything, knowing how strong shouyou really was but seeing him just sit docilely in his cell. "i believed he would come back to me." but shouyou had been right in front of him for literal years, fully willing to talk to him if he wanted to talk. instead oboro had waited until shouyou died. until it was a "clean slate", until there would be no complications. the exact same trick they tried to pull years ago. did he cling to that, convincing himself it was right because of the echo it provoked in him? it worked the first time, right? (though the result of that first time was him being left out.)

oboro could've, at any moment, simply betrayed the naraku. on that cliff, who would've stopped him if he cut zura and takasugi's bonds and freed his sensei? but that would've meant gintoki winning, and he wanted to see gintoki lose.

the tendoushuu would've had no idea there was anything extraordinary about the execution taking place. they didn't know about shouyou's immortality, about the history of the naraku--the naraku themselves didn't know their founders had been one person. literally no one knew anything except for oboro, and he kept his silence. he kept silent to the people who threatened his sensei, but he also kept silent to his sensei himself, and he kept silent to his juniors for all those years. oboro is a character who suffers in silence to a truly ridiculous degree, all his best and worst intentions a secret to the rest of the world.

and then utsuro walked out of his funeral pyre and was immediately like... lmao. let's reveal myself to the tendoushuu. also i'm going to join the naraku as the leader again. you don't mind right

Gintoki Sakata:

“Gintoki is introduced to us as a depressed twenty seven year old dealing with ptsd who first adopts Shinpachi after protecting him from Amanto (aliens, who have somewhat taken over earth) who were harassing him, which led to Shinpachi losing his job, and Gintoki having to help him rescue his sister Otae from the family’s debtors. Shinpachi comes to work for Gintoki as Odd Jobs, soon joined by Kagura (an amanto herself with super strength who was working as part of gang prior to Shinpachi and Gintoki helping her leave) Kagura leaves in his house and later Gintoki allows her to get a pet dog. It’s made clear that these three are a family and more than a few episodes make it clear that Kagura seems Gintoki as her earth father (her bio dad, the strongest man in the universe, goes around the galaxy fighting monsters) and Shinpachi feels a familial connection to him as well. There’s also Hashida, a baby who looks a lot like Gintoki, whom Gintoki takes care of when the custody battle over Hashida becomes an actual battle. This includes drinking together, tying the baby to his back while fighting his way to Hashida’s mom, and Hashida crying when Gintoki leaves, after promising they’ll share a drink when Hashida is older. In a similar vein is Seita, a street kid who tries to pickpocket Gintoki but gets robbed in return and ends up working for Gintoki’s landlady (Gintoki’s own adoptive mother) and being taken care of by her and the odd jobs family as a whole, before Gintoki discovers Seita’s mother is Hinowa, the Sun of Yoshiwara and its highest ranking courtesan, and fights Housen, a crime lord who fought Kagura’s father for three days and nights until they considered it a draw, and kills him, just so Seita and Hinowa can reunite. During the timeskip late in the series, we discover after seemingly defeating the Big Bad Utsuro (an immortal who formerly was Gintoki’s adoptive father and teacher Shouyou) Gintoki spent two years raising the reincarnated Shouyou as a baby, before being given his heart to prevent Utsuro’s followers from taking it. These are just the most notable examples, pretty much any character younger than Gintoki gets taken care of or helped by him in a way, including Kagura’s older brother, temporary member of Odd Jobs Pirako, and even to an extent youngest Shinsengumi member Okita Sougo. Gintoki is positioned as acting as the same adoptive parent role as his own adopters (Shouyou and his landlady Otose) are, taking on similar burdens and making, or trying to make) similar sacrifices as well. He can be really soft with kids at times, and has at least once carried Kagura and Shinpachi away from a fight on his back.”

Eithan Arelius:

"An immortal who is so lonely because he's the only one who can do his job and that job is killing entire worlds. So he hides his identity and goes back to his home, intending to raise up apprentices to join him. And so he runs into weak teen boy (Lindon) who also happens to carry a token from one of his immortal coworkers, travelling with angry girl with a sword (Yerin). After an insane training session that involved locking Lindon in a room full of monsters, dueling Yerin's sword with a pair of scissors and in his narration saying that if Lindon died he wouldn't really care, he decides to adopt them. Less a you're my kids way (for now) and more a you're part of my house and all the shit that entails.

At first he's closed off emotionally (though it's easy to think otherwise with the his level of confidence and the sheer amount of jokes) but as time passes he grows to trust them and really see them as a family. Near the end of the last book this guy was being aggressive towards Yerin and Eithan, full Reaper mode puts a hand on the guy's shoulder and is like ""Are you bothering my adoptive daughter??""

Also note other characters part of this little family but I kinda hesitate to say have a parent-child relationship going on: Akura Mercy, daughter of one of the most powerful women on Cradle who has horrible mommy issues and loves her friends. Ziel, who Eithan dragged into the gang by offering to help cure Ziel's condition (it's a long treatment process so you're going to have to join our adventures in the meantime!). Little Blue, literally a small blue spirit. Orthos, a dragon turtle. Dross, London's spirit AI thing who was one of the few things that has ever surprised Eithan because he should not be able to exist at this level what the fuck."
