Note
I am trans dean content starved, so please gimme a little crumb, a little something something, a measly little headcannon (or 30), a rant, anything, I beg of you 🙏 I am on this hellsite only for trans dean Winchester content and I just know you know what's up fr
okay sorry this took SO long to respond to but nothing was coming to me. anyway here’s 822 words of a trans dean s12 rewrite where Mary comes back and they both have to cope with how much everything has changed
When he spots her, shrouded in that nightgown, long hair as golden as he remembers, he assumes that Amara lied—that her gift for him was to die, and to go to heaven.
That wouldn’t be a bad gift, actually. To finally rest.
But this doesn’t feel like paradise. There’s still an ache in his knees and his upper back, and he’s almost choking on the sticky summer heat.
He takes a few steps, hands flexing, cautious. “Mom?”
Mary rises from her seat and fixes him with a look that lands somewhere between fear and confusion.
When she doesn’t say anything, Dean struggles to fill the silence himself. “Are you.. really…” he struggles to find the words, heart hammering in his throat “…real?” One hand extends towards her shoulder, shaky. It might just pass through.
But before he can make contact, she whips both hands across to grab his arm, hooks her foot around his leg, and slams him face down into the grass. She plants a foot against his neck to hold him there, surprisingly strong.
Yeah, she’s real.
“Where am I?” She demands, the smallest waver in her voice giving away her fear. “Who are you?”
This is gonna be a hard one to explain. “Ah—“ he grunts as she presses her heel harder against his neck. “I’m your son.”
“…Sam?” She starts to ease up.
Oops. “The other one.”
The air hums with cicadas. Dean is suddenly grateful for the fact that he’s facedown in the dirt, because he hasn’t had to acknowledge this truth about himself with anyone in a long, long time, and his face feels traitorously red.
“Deanna?” He tries, the name feeling ancient and foreign, like something he’d read out of one of the old lore tomes back in the bunker.
“No… my Deanna is four years old, and…”
Dean shifts beneath her, taking in a shaky breath. “A girl? Yeah. Didn’t stick,” he jokes.
She tightens her grip painfully.
“Ah— mom. I was four years old when you died,” he reminds her, shaky.
In a flash her grip is gone, feet scuffing in the grass as she stumbles back. Dean rises, palms out to catch the next attack—but Mary is bracing herself on the bench, bent over at the waist like she might throw up.
Believe it or not, Dean knows the feeling. The human brain doesn’t really want to remember its own death, and it hurts like a bitch when it all comes racing back in. He keeps his distance, trying to remember how Mary sees him—imposing and unfamiliar. A stranger.
That’s what he sees reflected in her eyes when she finally looks at him again.
“Listen, I know it sounds insane. I know,” he starts, but trails off, losing his pace. That’s his mom. Not a ghost. Not a memory. She’s real.
“How long have I been gone?” She asks, finally getting her balance back.
“Thirty-three years.” Longer than she was ever alive. Long enough that Dean has all but erased any trace of the child she remembers. “And you’re…” she looks him over again, seemingly at a loss for words.
“Dean,” he supplies. He tries to take it as a compliment when she looks skeptical. It would be hard to imagine him as a four year old girl, looking at him now. He’ll give her that.
“Listen, I… I know you, okay? You met John Winchester in 1972. Didn’t like him much at first but he grew on you, and the two of you got married in Reno in 1975. Your idea.” He huffs out a laugh, trying to ignore the anxiety building in his gut. “Your favorite song is Hey Jude. We used to dance to it in the kitchen. I tried to cheer you up by putting it on when dad walked out on us for a few days.”
Mary’s gaze softens. Dean searches her eyes, dying for an ounce of recognition. Love, even. Would she still love him?
She takes a few steps closer, stretching out a hand to rest against his chest, over his heart. Like she’s making sure he’s real. “Dean,” she repeats, trying the name on for size.
“Hi, mom.” Nice to meet you.
They teeter on the edge for a moment. Dean is ready to turn away. To hide his face when she rejects him.
Instead she takes a step forward and wraps her arms around him, warm and tight and god, she even smells the same. It’s a scent that doesn’t quite have a name. Just the scent of home, and of safety. Somewhere under his thickened skin, there’s just a four year old kid hanging onto his mother, burying his face in the soft fabric of her nightgown.
They linger there. It’s Mary who pulls away first. Dean turns to look towards the road, desperately trying to blink away tears. “We should, uh… everyone thinks I’m dead. We should get going.”

To celebrate trickster Tuesday! I am going to ramble about Mystery Spot, the episode ever. Don't take any of this super seriously I am by no means a "meta analysis" this is just me foaming at the mouth. + the spiral of thoughts it sent me on.
Anyways. If you wanna read it! It's below the cut! Because it got (long).
First off, Mystery Spot represents the literal cycle Sam (and also the entire Winchester family) find themselves caught in, over and over and over again: due to their inherent savior & martyr complexes. Which are not a great blend. Imagine having to save everyone you care about, but, always being willing to simply - die for them. More than willing. Happy to. Feel like you have to, in order to be worth anything to anyone or them. In order to atone.
Now, we saw in S1-S2 how much Dean is willing to give up for family, for Sam. It's the entire reason S3 is happening - he sold his own soul to a demon, something he hated John for, to save Sam. To bring him back to life. Something we learn that his own mother did all those years ago: just not at the price of her soul, but, essentially - her first born child (so Rumplstilskin of Azazel for real). The Winchester need to save each other, that toxic codependency on family, that "family is all you got at the end of the day" mentality is what started it all.
We have only seen in S1-S2 breif glimpses that Sam also shows these signs. The same codependency as Dean, and that savior complex. However - it never becomes truly and completely apparent until S3. Where he is willing to steal human livers, find anyway - anything to save Dean from his deal. It isn't until Jessica, John and everyone else he has known is gone, that Sam begins to fall completely into the codependency that Dean unfortunately, feeds into. (With all of his "You ran away from the family" talk and such)
In Mystery Spot: we see the first true depths of how far Sam is willing to go to keep Dean alive. How far he has fallen from that rebelliousness he had before John died. Starting to agree with Dean that he "tried his best". And things like that. In Mystery Spot we see that Sam rather relive the same day over and over and over again, than let Dean die. We never see him accept it. Not once. Sure, it's a time-loop, but we know Gabriel was trying to teach Sam to let go.
Teach him to break the fucking cycle. But he doesn't. He contuines to give into it, over and over. Until Gabriel reveals himself, thinking maybe he can still change it. Change Sam. Get through to him. That'd when we get those 6 months of pure obessesion.
And at the end of it? We see the Sam that suggested to Dean they use the evil-immortal doctors alchemy to keep him alive, perfectly willing to steal human livers and such for it: come out full force. He is completely willing to sacrifice a stranger to save Dean. Rather than being hellhent on killing the Trickster, on revenge, he wants him back. At any cost. Even an innocent human life.
This is the Sam we see, after years and years of Dean encouraging this behavior - seasons later, bring an entire apyclopse down on the world to get rid of the Mark of Cain. Force a man to sell his soul. Have Rowena kill the inky person she had ever allowed herself to love - someone she considered her son. To utterly get rid of another person's autonomy (keeping her locked up ect.) to get it.
Note: it is NOT Dean's fault, that Sam broke Amara out, I simply am stating that his "we die for family sammy" and "we do everything for family sammy" throughout the years helped Sam make the decision. But at the end of the day, Sam choose to get rid of the Mark. All of the death that happened because of her is pretty directly on his hands, and he knows this.
I also believe that, while Sam feels massive amounts of sympathy, I believe he struggles a (lot) with empathy (autism + protecting himself/trauma response). He can easily replicate empathy, and act as if he cares but we see his hypocritical behavior consistently come into play and make us think: huh. I don't think he actually understands how Dean, Castiel ect. feels. That is why he comes off as spoiled and ungrateful to Dean in early seasons, and in later seasons does things that are completely amoral and deranged. Simply for those he loves.
Because he struggles to wrap his head around *why* Dean can save him, kill people for him, force an angel on him - but when he releases an apyclopse, him saying "I would do it all again." Is somehow wrong. He doesn't see his own hypocrisy at times and struggles especially to see others.
Anyways.
I support Sammy war crimes.

supernatural s11e12 don't you forget about me (w. nancy won)
hookman redux? oh no it's just what's her face with the good hair and a sword. i don't remember jody's other girl *at all*. she also does not look remotely like a teenager. i know it's hard with casting young people. anyway, very cute to see jody so happy and proud.
Tumblr media
why is there so much weird food content in this episode, please 😭 sam and dean are so bored at home, they should be cooking more. we know they can do it! (dean, you know how happy you could make sam with something simple like this, roast chicken and mashed potatoes and green beans is dead easy and tasty and nutritious!)
Tumblr media
JODY This is according to the - HEY! [JODY looks at ALEX, who has tried to sneak her wine glass away.] Put it back! [ALEX puts the wine glass back.] JODY … neighborhood crime blogs that Claire has been reading. CLAIRE They're eye-witness accounts. SAM Well, we've hunted on less.
jody's face had me cackling. sam no longer the favorite son 😒
okay so. kathryn newton who plays claire is 19 and supposed to be... 19! and she looks 19. (have i mentioned how much i love her hair?) and katherine ramdeen who plays alex is 25-6 and is supposed to be... 18. sitting next to each other and bickering, it's kind of stark. also kind of funny that they mention barely recognizing her twice. not the only one. was thinking she was recast maybe, but nope
ALEX Claire did catch a werewolf. Oh right! Turned out to be a German shepherd with rabies. JODY And before that was the vampire. Councilwoman into erotic cosplay. I didn't know what cosplay was before that. Super embarrassing for the whole force. DEAN Wow. You've been busy.
i feel bad for claire but this is pretty great
CLAIRE Real life? Okay. Yeah, sure. Let's get real. You and Henry set on a weekend yet? ALEX What? CLAIRE When you sneaking off to Jody's cabin to screw yourself silly? DEAN Ohhh. Here we go.
getting her revenge, as is the sibling way.
Tumblr media
honestly, i'm eating this up. sam and dean could use some normal loving family dysfunction for once
JODY Hey, if we can't talk about it we shouldn't be doing it, right? Right? [SAM stutters.] DEAN What?
jody looking to the boys for backup and they're completely falling down on the job 😔 this is also weirdly topical because i've been prepping my 10 year old with information about puberty and basics of sex ed lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JODY And don't expect the guy, as much as I love Henry, to always show up packing. (To SAM and DEAN) Am I right? [SAM looks down at his plate and takes another bite to avoid answering. Dean stares at her blankly.] DEAN What? JODY Seriously?
useless! :p
i am reveling (obviously) in the domestic awkward bullshit.
Tumblr media
JODY And but even there, I feel like I should be teaching her about boyfriends, and relationships, you know, stuff a mom would teach her. DEAN Sammy and I could've benefited from a little of that.
Tumblr media
it's fine, i'm fine. hey maybe jody can straighten dean out and get him to talk to sam about amara. they help with the kids, she can help the bigger kids :p
Tumblr media
CLAIRE Maybe it's time I just head out on my own. And be a full-fledged hunter. SAM Claire. I absolutely understand the need to hunt. Believe me. I do. But the monsters are always going to be there. On and on. Forever. But a chance at a family? At a home? School? That won't be.
probably rationing the use but i think this could have done with the mushy music. feeling for claire and sam.
also that's a huge bedroom
dean trying to be stern and lecture claire and give alex's boyfriend the stink eye, silly :p
ALEX You should know… I've done some really bad things. Hurt people. I should've told you before. HENRY Everybody's done stuff they're ashamed of. I mean, there was this one kid we all tortured in middle school, I-I can't even think about it. Alex! Hey. I don't care. Whatever it is you did, I don't. Okay?
very "this is the skin of a killer, bella"
jesus bad guy is beating the shit out of jody. very effective in how they shot/edited it
LOL aaand the boyfriend is a vampire, of course. didn't see the, i tried to help you out from a bad man but you took me back to your vampire nest and got turned, story. but made sure to vanquish any sympathy we might have had for the dude after saying he turned a high school kid into a vampire just to ruin her life as revenge
good old sibling bonding over killin vampires, a classic
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
adorable and always good to have more data that sam doesn't just eat salad :P
hey it's music reminding me of princess bride, i wonder if it's the same music as last time that reminded me of princess bride. that was a while ago (8x06 and 8x14 [which i included a clip of the music, dean setting up his room in the bunker with family pictures etc]). after comparing, the beginning is sorta similar but then it sort of mashes up into something else
DEAN You gonna be alright now that you're outnumbered again? JODY Ah, as long as everyone wears a condom, we'll be fine. DEAN I want that bumper sticker.
true that. told my 10 year old that it's important to know about sex and how babies get made because we don't want any surprise babies running around and the look he gave me: 😵‍💫
i think a lot of it is jody/kim rhodes but the katherine/kathryns also did great making the whole family dynamic with sam and dean work - and the writing! like hey you all can still do a good monster of the week and have really nice, touching and funny moments with the side characters - two episodes in a row! and i didn't even get disgruntled over amara drama once this episode woot woot

Darkened Soulmates Part 1
Tumblr media
Amara x Fem!reader
Part 1: Let’s Just See
It shouldn’t be as boring as it feels. I know it should be scary, but I feel almost underwhelmed. There’s this calm and peace that’s seeming to wrap itself around me.
The lights in the bunker are dim. Something I appreciate. I never liked too much light, not only that but the headache I’m getting from all these books is getting to me. It’s funny. Looking around I can see how stressed everyone else is. And yet, here I am feeling calm and kinda giddy. Maybe I’ve just officially lost it.
I set down the book in my arms. Standing, I stretch some of the sleep from my body, and I move towards the door. Not the door to the kitchen, but the actual door. I need some air, to find some more grounding in this scenario, because there is no reason I should feel this alright. The only thing bothering me is the peace because it shouldn’t exist.
The grass looks beautiful and so does the sky. I always made it a habit to look at how vibrant the colors are in case I never see them again. Thankfully, everytime I thought it would be the last time it wasn’t. Maybe that’s it. Maybe because I know we’ve never lost before I’m deranged enough to think we can beat God’s sister.
God’s sister, the Darkness herself, Amara.
Amara.
It’s such a beautiful name. It, strangely, makes me smile. I shouldn’t feel like this when faced with absolute destruction. There is something beautiful about that. The world was beautiful, truly, but just as there is beauty in creation, there is beauty in destruction.
I take in a breath of air. It makes me feel more anxious than calm. Everything but the thought of our demise seems to be doing that. This feeling is dangerous. I know that much.
I take a seat in the gravel, criss-crossing my legs. I adjusted the skirt on my dress, and I stare up at the sky. I refocus on the colors. The sun was setting, or, maybe, it was rising. I never knew directions enough to tell. Orange and pink. Yellow and purple. All the colors fade and blend together perfectly. I close my eyes and imagine the night to come. Its dark blue and purple leave me more comfortable.
A shift behind me catches my attention. It’s Chuck. He’s also staring at the sky. He looks down and speaks.
“One thing I never had to wonder about you was where to look if you were to disappear. You always go to the same places no matter where you are.”
I look at him.
“You mean outside in the most odd place to sit.”
I smile at him and he smiles back. “Something like that,” He pauses as he frowns. “Why are you out here anyways?”
“It’s hard to explain,” I say. I furrow my brows and try to communicate. “I feel so- so calm and I know I shouldn’t and it makes me feel… Wrong? Like I know I should be panicking and I’m not so it’s making me feel uneasy,” I look at him. “Does that make any sense?”
He chuckles at me. “No, it really doesn’t, but I think I have an idea of what it may be.”
Chuck holds his hand out for me to take and I do. Suddenly, we’re in the bunker again.
Lucifer was the first to look up, twisting Castiel’s face in confusion. I just looked at him with a face saying I was just as confused. He turned away with a huff.
Sam was the next to notice. He hit Dean in the arm to get his attention as Chuck dragged me through the rooms.
Dean was the first to speak. “Heya, Chuck. What are you doing with Y/n?”
He still sounded passive aggressive. Amazing how he can talk to anyone like that, even if it’s God.
“It’s nothing to worry about Dean, I’m just wanting to find something out.” Chuck says with a light smile.
“What exactly is it you’re looking for?” I asked.
Sam chides in nervously. “Yeah, man, you can’t just try things out without people knowing what it is.”
Chuck sighs, lets go of my hand, and turns to them. “It’s a spell. I want to see if she has aeh, certain, eh, gift.”
“I mean you’re God, so I uh, I trust that you know what you’re doing, just if it’s going to hurt I would like to know.” I fiddle with my hands.
“I promise the most it’ll do is cause a little extra warmth in the area I pour it on.” He says, smiling gently.
“So you’re just gonna pour a potion on her?” Dean asked defensively. “And you’re gonna let him?”
I can agree that it made no sense, but I didn’t feel as on guard as everyone else around Chuck. I understand knowing you can fix something, but trying so hard and no one learning from it so you stop helping. I feel like I can see a common ground, though I understand even for God he made a lot of mistakes.
“In the end I can trust he has everyone's best interests at heart, so if he wants to try something he thinks will help me then I think I can accept that, or I could just be naive. Heh” I huffed a laugh to try and calm mine and Dean's nerves.
Dean rolls his eyes. “Let’s just get this over with.”

It's time to talk to Mary, the wife, who is still in the hospital. They have her cuffed to the bed so she doesn't hurt anyone else, and because of that, you don't want to bring Joanna into her room. Garth is so good with her, that you're more than okay having him watch her.
"Would you watch Jo for me? Sam, Dean, and I can talk to Mary," you unconsciously give your daughter a nickname--just like your friend.
"Of course. Come here, Joanna," he smiles widely.
You hand over your daughter and go inside Mary's room with the brothers.
"Mrs. Lew, can you tell us what happened?" Sam asks.
"I was at the store getting groceries, and the next thing I know, my son Scott finds me in the driveway. Chester was..." She can't finish her sentence because it's too traumatic for her.
"Do you remember anything at all about what happened?" you wonder.
"Not really. Bits and pieces, I guess. I remember his screams... the smell of burnt rubber, and I remember feeling so angry--just uncontrollable rage like I wasn't myself. After it was over, all that anger was just gone."
"Ma'am, does the word 'Alcott' mean anything to you?" you ask.
Mary clenches her hands into fists and tugs at the handcuffs, not being able to break away from them.
"What does she have to do with anything?" she says with such poison."
"Alcott is a she?"
"My husband, Chester, and I were going steady in high school for a few years already when we had a big fight. It was something stupid, I'm sure. It was around prom, and so he took Sara Alcott as his date instead of me."
"So, Sara Alcott was a rival for your husband's affections?"
"Sara had one night with him, whereas I was with Chester for thirty-seven years," Mary starts to cry.
"Of course, right. Just one more question. Is Ms. Alcott still alive?" Sam asks gently.
"As far as I know, yes."
"Thank you very much, Mrs. Lew."
You and the brothers leave her hospital room, letting Garth continue to hold Joanna since she seems happy to be in his arms. Only when you're out of earshot from anyone do you talk about the case.
"Let me get this straight. This poor guy went to prom with some girl over thirty years ago, and because of that, he is now a pancake?" Dean asks.
"I mean, if this is a ghost, maybe it's some sort of possession?"
"What are you talking about? You heard her. Alcott's alive."
"Well, we're definitely gonna want to talk to her," you state.
"Yeah, sounds like a plan. Did we eat yet?"
It's like Dean to always be thinking about food. You often tease him when you make him choose between food or sex. It always leaves him a blubbering mess, but it brings a smile to your face. There is a bar right down the street from the hospital, so you head over there to grab a bite.
There is an open table by the window, and once the waitress brings a high chair for Joanna, you begin ordering. There aren't a lot of people here, so the food comes out rather quickly. You have Joanna's food in your baby bag, but she doesn't want any of that. As soon as she sees Dean's food, she whines for it. She reaches out for it, but her arms are too short to grab anything.
"Daddy," she whines.
"You want some of my food?"
"Yeah."
Dean doesn't mind sharing when it's with you or Joanna. He rips off tiny pieces of his burger and breaks up his fries, setting them down on the plate you got for her.
"Joanna, I have your food right here," you say and hold up the chicken nuggets and mac and cheese you ordered for her.
"Mama, I have Daddy's food," she says, shoving some of the meat patty into her mouth.
"It's alright," Dean shrugs and takes a bite of his food. "How are you doing? Still seeing Amara?"
"Yeah, she's here right now. All she does is talk, but I kind of tuned her out at this point. Doesn't make my head hurt any less, though."
"Has she said anything about why you're the only one who is seeing her?"
"She's conveniently leaving that part out. When I know, you'll know," you say and bite into your burger.
"Joanna, do you want some of my salad?" Sam asks.
Before he can finish his sentence, she shakes her head and squeals a little too loudly.
"No. I don't like it."
"That's my girl," Dean laughs, and Sam just rolls his eyes playfully at her.
"So, Dean and Y/N, give me the deets. Where were you this past year?" Garth asks after he swallows his food.
"Why don't we save what we did on our summer vacation for another time?"
It's clear that Dean doesn't want to talk about this, and he has a right not to. Purgatory was very traumatic and emotional to live through.
"Come on."
"We were in Purgatory," you state
"Like the Purgatory Purgatory?"
"No, the one in Miami," Dean says sarcastically.
"Man, that's balls."
"That's not how you say 'balls'," Dean says, clearly annoyed with him.
"So, how'd you get out?"
Sam makes a whole show of looking at you two, hoping you talk about Benny, but you're not going to. Benny is still a very touchy subject between you and the brothers. Instead, Dean decides to focus on the Confederate flags that the bar has on its walls.
"What's up with all the flags? These people know the Civil War's over, right?"
"That's a touchy subject around these parts. See, Missouri was a border state. So, half the men were Confederate, the other half were the Union," Garth explains.
"How do you know all this?"
"I went to college."
"You went to college?" you and Sam ask in surprise.
"Yeah. College, and on to dental school."
"Wait, you were a dentist?"
"Yeah, just for, like, a hot minute. Where'd you think I got my first case?"
"Let me guess--Tooth Fairy," Dean jokes.
"Yeah. Man, I felt terrible when I ganked that SOB."
"You killed the Tooth Fairy?" you whisper.
Joanna doesn't know about the Tooth Fairy since she hasn't lost a tooth yet. She will in about four years, but you don't want Garth to talk about this. She listens a lot, and you want her to believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus, and the Easter Bunny. It's little things like these that are worth it.
"Yeah. I mean, not my proudest moment, but it happened."
Like before, Garth's phone rings. You don't know who is on the other line, but you do know that it's nothing good. There is another death, but this time, Scott is the one who committed the crime. First, his mother kills her husband, and Scott kills a seemingly random person. You finish with lunch quickly and head over to the convenience store where it's still taped off by the police.
"So, first the mom kills her husband, and now the son?" You look up to see the word "Sussex" written in blood on one of the refrigerators. "What is that, another name?"
"I don't know." Garth finishes talking to one of the police officers, wearing his Ranger jacket and one of your dad's old hats. "Hey, what did the cops say?"
"Not much. Scott insisted he wasn't in control of himself. Says all he remembers is a red-hot rage."
"Do you think this is some kind of family curse?" you ask.
"Is that Bobby's hat?" Dean asks, pausing on reality.
"It sure is. We worked a Rugaru case together a few years back. He left it in my car, so I kept it as a," Dean rips the hat off Garth's head in anger, "momento. What are you doing?"
"That's not how you wear it."
Dean is being completely irrational here. Garth's face just drops, and before Dean can get far, you yank the hat out of his hands. He must think you're as pissed as he is because he doesn't think twice about it. You're not pissed. You're annoyed that he's acting the way that he is. He's acting like Bobby only did what he did for the Winchester family. Like he didn't impact other people's lives.
Instead of keeping the hat, you turn to Garth and hand it back to him with a smile. Garth barely smiles at you, but he doesn't put it back on. Instead, he pockets the hat.
"Gentlemen and lady, surveillance is up but something is all screwy with it," the deputy says from the main office.
You four enter the office and focus on the small computer screen. The deputy plays the video, and you can clearly see Scott stab the convenience clerk with a shovel. The thing that is off with the video is that Scott's head is obscured by white light and the white light goes across the screen.
"You guys see the head? Ever seen anything like that before?" you ask once you know the deputy has left the room.
"Like that? No way. I'm thinking we need to talk to Sara Alcott. I found her--although these days, she goes by Sara Brown," Garth says.
"How about this? I'll check her out, and you three see what you can find out about Sussex," Sam offers quickly.
"Awesome," Dean sighs.
Sam is already out the door before he can hear what his brother has to say. You would have gone with Sam, but it looks like he wants to be alone, and you wanted to be with Garth and Dean to prevent your husband from saying something he might regret later on.

I've always talked about it from Dean's perspective (and sometimes from the Destiel perspective) but never from Cas'. I think the GA (and antis who claim this is a fanservice scene and nothing more) underestimate just how powerful this scene was for Cas' own story. The ILY aside, I think it's important to note just how full circle the angel's storyline came and how impactful that decision to include the bloody handprint really was.
When Cas first enters the story of SPN that we see (physically I mean), this scene happens:
youtube
Cas: "I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition."
Dean: "And why would an angel rescue me from Hell?"
Cas: "Good things do happen, Dean."
Dean: "Not in my experience."
Cas: "What's the matter? You don't think you deserve to be saved."
Dean: "Why'd you do it?"
Cas: "Because God commanded it."
When Cas first rescues Dean from Hell, he has been commanded to do it. He's following orders. They have "work" for Dean to do aka an ulterior motive. And as we see here, Dean as always, believes he doesn't deserve to be saved (which we find out why in this particular instance later) and that good things don't just happen which momentarily confuses Castiel.
youtube
Dean: "Is it true? Did I break the first seal? Did I start all this?"
Cas: "Yes. When we discovered Lilith's plan for you, we laid siege to Hell. And we fought our way to get to you. Before you--"
Dean: "Jump started the apocalypse."
Cas: "We were too late."
Dean: "Why didn't you just leave me there then?"
Cas: "It's not blame that falls on you, Dean. It's fate. The righteous man who begins it is the only one who can finish it. You have to stop it."
Dean: "Lucifer, the apocalypse, what does that mean? Hey! Don't you go disappearing on me, you son of a bitch. What does that mean?"
Cas: "I don't know."
Dean: "Bull!"
Cas: "I don't. Dean, they don't tell me much. I know our fate rests with you."
Dean: "Then you guys are screwed. I can't do it, Cas. It's too big. Alistair was right. I'm not all here. I'm not--I'm not strong enough. I guess I'm not the man either of our dads wanted me to be. Find someone else. It's not me."
In this scene, it's after Alistair got out of the Devil's trap and attacked Dean, after telling Dean that he started the apocalypse by breaking the first seal. Cas reveals that the reason they went into Hell to rescue him was to prevent the first seal from being broken which would knock over apocalyptic dominoes. But they were too late. And Dean makes a good point: why didn't they just leave him there then? Considering what we know about how angels sometimes operate in this story, it would make sense if they chose to do something like that but Cas rescues Dean anyway. Which we know Cas was the one not only because he says it but also because when Dean is resurrected, we see this:
Tumblr media
Which is further verified by what happens to Pamela when she touches it. She's able to communicate with Castiel directly (a la Amara with Casifer being able to connect to Dean but I won't digress) and we know her eyes burn when she attempts to spy on his true visage.
Now if we go back to the 15x18 scene above, we get:
Dean, Sam, Cas, and Jack are currently locked in a battle with Chuck and reclaiming their free will after they discover he's been the bad guy all along -> "Lucifer, the apocalypse" from 4x16
Dean and Cas are currently being chased down by Billie aka Death who is intent on killing Dean once and for all so he can go back to where she believes he belongs (and she had a plan in place to take care of Chuck and how Dean would play a part in it besides Jack and Sam) -> aka "Lilith's plan" & Alistair and Co getting Dean to break the first seal from 4x16
Cas is helping Dean to get away, rescuing him from what would have been a gruesome death -> Cas rescues Dean from Hell from 4x01 & 4x16
Dean feeling defeated when he and Cas are locked in the room (that has a Devil's trap in it btw) that Billie is trying to get into -> Dean telling Cas that they shouldn't rely on him to stop the Apocalypse & it's too big for him because he is suffering from guilt and self-doubt from 4x16
Dean: "Everybody's gonna die, Cas. Everybody. I can't stop it. She's gonna get through that door."
Cas: "I know."
Dean: "And she's gonna kill you. And then she's gonna kill me. I'm sorry."
If you take this dialogue and these two performances in this moment and compare it to the 4x16 hospital scene, you have a very similar event or theme happening here. The only differences are Cas' reaction (we see he is more greatly affected this time around which is due to their familiarity with one another and the development of their characters and relationship as well as the show evolving, season 4 was still considered to be the "horror show"), Dean while still hopeless is accepting of the inevitable & is not shutting Cas out. Instead he moves closer rather than looks away like he does in 4x16, letting out the one tear. Not that he wasn't vulnerable with Cas in 4x16, but the whole performance from Jensen while being different in its own ways is also quite similar to that scene.
While Cas saved Dean from Billie in the moment & warded the door to keep them alive that much longer (with his own blood but more on that in a moment), he comes up with a plan to stop Billie entirely that will save Dean but also cause his own death. Thus, he is going to rescue Dean while laying down his own life.
Cas: "When Jack was dying, I made a deal to save him."
Dean: "You what?"
Cas: "The price was my life. When I experienced a moment of true happiness, The Empty would be summoned and it would take me forever."
Dean: "Why are you telling me this now?"
Cas: "I always wondered when I took that burden, that curse, I wondered what it could be, what my true happiness could even look like. I never found an answer because the one thing I want, it's something I know I can't have. But I think I know...I think I know now. Happiness isn't in the having, it's in just being. It's in just saying it."
Dean: "What are you talking about, man?"
Cas: "I know...I know how you see yourself, Dean. You see yourself the same way our enemies see you. You're destructive and you're angry and you're broken, your'e Daddy's blunt instrument. And you think that hate and anger, that's...that's what drives you, that's who you are. It's not. And everyone who knows you sees it. Everything you have ever done, the good and the bad, you have done for love. You raised your little brother for love, you fought for this whole world for love. That is who you are. You're the most caring man on Earth. You are the most selfless, loving human being I will ever know. You know, ever since we met, ever since I pulled you out of Hell, knowing you has changed me. Because you cared, I cared. I cared about you, I cared about Sam, I cared about Jack, but I cared about the whole world because of you. You changed me, Dean."
Dean: "Why does this sound like a goodbye?"
Cas: "Because it is. I love you."
Dean: "Don't do this, Cas. Cas..."
Cas: "Goodbye, Dean."
Dean: "What?"
So not only does Cas address Dean's anger which has been a series-long issue that really was brought to the forefront the most it's ever been in season 15 (meaning the anger is fueling Dean's desperation which is now part of the main theme of the season), but he also saves him from his own personal Hell. While also setting Dean up to do what he does in the next episode when it comes to facing down Chuck and the decision he makes (along with Sam) not to kill him and give him what he wanted. What Alistair, Lilith, and Hell always thought he was. What their enemies (like Chuck) always thought about Dean. What he himself thought.
And the bloody handprint happens in the moment The Empty enters the room on one side and Billie breaks through the door on the other side (when the wards Cas put up in his own blood to protect Dean from Billie don't hold up anymore; yes, Cas used his own blood to protect Dean, the significance of that is just so...I don't even know how to put it into words):
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Cas throws him against the wall, out of the way, so he can be physically safe from both supernatural forces. So he not only saves his soul so to speak, he also saves his life.
And what's important about this scene and the way it went down/was written is that while yes, it parallels how Cas rescued Dean from Hell, it also brings his story full circle in a very beautiful way (not just his relationship or profound bond with Dean). Cas chose to do this. He chose to speak those three little words to summon The Empty, ensuring his own death, but also confessing to Dean how he really feels with no expectations. All to save Dean.
So he did what he had entered the story to do in the beginning, but this time, Cas exercised his own free will to save the man he loved while also setting up said man to not only defeat Chuck but also to save the world. Something that Dean himself chooses to do while exercising his own free will (which is another reason why 15x20 makes no sense).
So that bloody handprint, whoever came up with it on the day or if it was in the script (I can't remember which), that was a moment of pure genius because physically it helps pull this whole scene and Cas' story together even more. Cas is commanded to save Dean from Hell, leaves a burned-in handprint on his shoulder. Cas chooses to save Dean from Death (and himself), leaves his own bloody handprint on his shoulder.
As much as I hated Cas dying for the longest time and I didn't understand why Misha was so happy with that ending for his character (despite the parallels), I now get it. Cas' story had come full circle. He exercised the free will that he had not only earned but was given when he changed thanks to knowing Dean, way before Jack entered the picture. That's development, folks. And it was exemplified in the most beautiful way possible. He got to choose when to summon The Empty and why. He got to choose to save Dean one more time but this time of his own volition (though I would argue he may have chosen to save Dean's soul pre-4x01 despite the latter having started the apocalypse). But this scene from beginning to end is HIS choice. The circumstances and time pressure may be present but he could have tried to find another way to get them out of there or he could have lived (because I don't see how Billie could have killed him, he's an angel and The Empty purposely wanted him to be happy and then collect him so even if Billie got all stabby stabby, The Empty would have probably sent him back because it wouldn't be satisfied), but no. He made the choice to utilize this deal that Dean knew nothing about in order to save Dean once again.
And sure enough, in 15x19 we see:
Tumblr media
Chuck is defeated. Dean had his free will all along (as did Sam). Jack is now the new God, which also brings another portion of Cas' story full circle and he helped to bring about. While Dean obviously misses Cas, he is able to stand on his own and make this decision himself without Heaven or Hell whispering into his ear or trying to affect the outcome. This is Dean Winchester exercising his free will (that he never really lost like he feared which is also important for the whole John/Chuck convo that we'll save for another time).
So for those who say Castiel wasn't an important character in the series or in relation to Dean (or Sam or Jack) or that the 15x18 scene was fanservice or pandering, you are incredibly wrong. Castiel proved to be instrumental in not only Dean's story line (as well as the other two) but also to the ending of the mythology altogether as well as the end of the series. The end of 15x19 looks like the exact way it's supposed to (minus them planning to break Cas out of The Empty & calling up Eileen & Jack still hanging with his fam = Winchesters 2.0 getting a better and more sensical ending that they had earned, especially in relation to Winchesters 1.0). The way Cas exited the story mirrored the way he entered, with a few slight differences. And like I said above, that's called development and it was illustrated in the most beautiful way possible while also giving one of the original members of Team Free Will the earned right to exercise theirs.

I kind of want to ask about "kate time loop," if you don't mind?
aahh this one i wanna write soo bad im pretty much stuck in planning but the general gist is that okay jack is god he has chucks powers but also absorbed lucifer and michael (and amara)s powers so basically--and i know im reaching--but jack can feel or hear what michael wants Which Is for adam to be happy and to have his mom. so jack is trying to make this all happen for them but he's quite obviously distracted and also very young so oopsies he means to bring kate back to life like amara did for mary but he accidentally drops her back onto the day she died. but there's also some sort of failsafe with her that means if she dies no she didn't. no afterlife will take her so the ghouls get her and the world is like uh oh! try again! all this just to establish her time loop like she's in the day she dies but she cant die. (and i do hope to make this neater someday.)
so kate is reliving that day over and over again until she can figure it out and stop the ghouls from getting her it's all the classic time loop stuff of almost getting there but not quite and it's her managing to not die but then unless she gets rid of the ghouls they're still gonna come after her no matter the time, yk? like par exemple she's in her hotel room or at a friends house bc going back home means getting snatched by the Things Chasing Her and she’s talking to adam away at college pretending everything is fine but he can tell somethings wrong so he drives down to surprise her but gets got by the ghouls so when he calls her like hey im home! she goes over only to. immediately die. and like over time she meets sam and dean and she learns abt hunting and whatnot and she goes days or even weeks escaping her fate before it catches up w her. she actually becomes quite the badass but yk it is slow going bc it’s hard to investigate creatures that can look like anyone whilst dealing with a son who just wants to help or some random brothers who are bitter about her and adams existence every single time they meet her. shit gets old quick.
my main problems w this are that it's not so much teaching her something as it is just pure torture which i dont wanna do to her so i def have to work through many many kinks before i can create a coherent plot. i just love time loops. and kate.
because also once she escapes the loop or jack realizes her mistake i mean. she's afraid to meet adam again after all this like she's not the same but then she actually does see him and he's not the same either. so it's that sweet spot of being almost relieved that the person each of them were most worried about meeting again went through something bad too and can understand while also hating that relief. if ur picking up what im putting down. i gotta say i do love messy emotions. and this just complicates the post canon adam-kate dynamic even more >:)

Chapter 7
Tumblr media
This turn of events Michael had not been expecting. It seemed to him that Amara was thoroughly enjoying dragging him along as he tried to get his footing. He stumbled around corner after corner, clutching Adam’s soul in his hand. Angels blurred past him, he blinked trying to clear his vision. He was badly injured enough his sight was not totally clear, dust making his eyes water, something he didn’t know before. Amara stormed to the middle of the hall, turned and opened a door. Michael had not been around when Metatron sealed heaven, so he wasn’t ready for the drop! He clutched Amara, felt his wings flapping, could feel himself falling. “Oh relax will you” She snapped at him, his angelic form changing from corporeal to celestial wavelengths. This always happened in the material world but it was a shock all the same. Michael had only ever been in this form three times in his whole existence and all three had been recently. Once to save John Winchester’s life and he had spoken to Dean, the second time he had came down to speak with Zachariah in person and the last time, the last time he had met Adam. The world below started to shake; Michael could see it trembling in reaction to him coming closer. The humans down there would hear a high pitch noise that Michael emitted when near. It was so loud some humans would burst into flame. Michael hated that. He hated that his father would allow this to happen, that he would design the humans in this way to be so incompatible to the Prince who wanted to protect them.
Amara was taking him somewhere, she was leading him, pulling him, he wanted to know where he was going and- Something stung. She had tricked him! His grace burned, it felt like something was pushing him back, repelling him. It lasted for a second until he was pushed through the warding into a familiar bunker. “What the hell!” Dean Winchester shouted Sam made a noise of pain and covered his ears, a cup on the table exploded. Everything was flooded in red flashing lights, a siren wailed but on top of that was the high pitch noise of an archangel that had crashed into their home. Castiel looked up at the archangel hovering near the ceiling. Michael could see them. Sam was now on the floor, screaming with the noise of having Michael so close in his true form. Dean was holding him, trying to shout to Castiel “Cas, move him away” Dean shouted “Dean, I can’t just move an archangel” Castiel said. “Michael?” Castiel called up to his older brother “Can you move to another room”. Castiel’s hair was blowing. The light slowly moved into the library and out of sight, however the sound of smashing plates told Castiel his brother was in the kitchen. “Well, you did ask for him” Amara spoke up. She has appeared standing on the stairs into the room. Her eyes firmly back on Dean. Sam was gasping, he still had hold of his ears, but slowly he looked up. His face was red and his eyes were watering “We didn’t mean bring him here in that form” Dean raged, he was still holding Sam. “He’s out of a vessel” Amara said, stating a very obvious clear fact.
“I’m ok Dean, I’m okay” Sam got to his feet, he pushed his hair out of his eyes. He looked at Amara “Thank you” Sam said. Amara smiled a little. At least one of the Winchesters had manners. “I’m going now” She told them “I’m already later for Reno. I don’t want to be held up any longer. Speak to Michael, he will know where your brother is” “Wait” Dean said to her “How do we talk to him? We can’t get near him without our ears blowing” Amara didn’t answer straight away, because she knew Dean would not like the answer. “You know how to speak to him” She looked away from Dean. “I should be going. Good luck with your brother”.
Sam and Castiel looked at each other. “I will try to speak to Michael” Castiel began “Getting him to answer may be hard in his current form, but we will find Adam’s location and save him from Chuck” “Will that work? An angel without a vessel can only appear for a short time. When Lucifer tried with me, he could only show himself when I was asleep. We could try to ask Michael to do the same”
Jack walked into the room “There... is something…in the kitchen” “It’s your uncle” Castiel told him “Oh” Jack frowned. Sam looked back at Dean “Hey, what did Amara mean? ‘You know how to speak to him’ can you speak with him without getting too near?”
Dean didn’t answer. His hands were balled into fists. His jaw clenched. Inside Dean’s head, the drowning feeling he once experienced in his time of hell was coming back to him. He knew how he could talk to Michael. He wouldn’t do it. He couldn’t do it. Yet he knew he would. “Dean?” Castiel asked. They were looking at him. “Michael. He needs a vessel” Dean said, his voice sounded far away “We can’t speak to him while he’s in that form. I’m the only one who can hold him.. It’s the only way to save Adam, and, and we owe him that. We need to save him. I’ve got to say yes” Dean’s throat felt like it was closing. He needed a drink. His heart was pounding. He could almost feel Michael, there in the kitchen, waiting for him. “No” Jack said “you can’t!” “Dean” Sam looked hurt “After what he did to you last time you said yes” Castiel was looking thoughtful “I do not like this, but – this Michael is not the same Michael that Dean said yes to” “Dean, no” Sam said. “We’ll think of another way of speaking to him. Hell, he can lead us to where Adam is. He doesn’t need a vessel” Dean flatly answered him “If he does that, Chuck will know we are all there. It will put Adam in risk” Sam was shaking his head. It was killing Dean. “It’s ok Sammy. I wont say yes to Michael” Sam nodded, he didn’t look convinced, but he nodded. Michael went around and around near the ceiling. It was really small in this room. The lights smashed the second he entered. Cups, plates and other things smashed when he came near. He could see Castiel entering the room, he was looking at him. Michael continued to move. He didn’t like hovering still, then something surprised him. A boy entered the room and Michael stopped moving, he looked down. This boy he had once seen in Castiel’s memories. He should have been dead; Michael had seen him die. He looked just like Lucifer almost. If Michael wasn’t trying to save his strength he would have tried reaching out to the child out of basic instinct to be with his brother, but it was more than enough trying to keep himself together.
Castiel was speaking to him. “-Tell us where Adam is? We can go get him-“ It sounded like Castiel was speaking to him from under water, he turned again and started moving. Michael could feel Adam, but he felt far way. “Michael, can you take on a form to speak to us?” Castiel pressed. Michael couldn’t do that. He wasn’t strong enough. Just being here was draining him more. The child was looking up at him. Castiel tried again, but he couldn’t hear anything from Michael.
Michael felt Adam’s soul, still being held protectively in his hands. He didn’t want to let go of Adam, he wanted to hold him forever. Yet he needed somebody else to protect him for now, until he was strong enough. He slowed his movements when he was above Castiel, and allowed the tiny part of Adam’s soul to leave his fingers. It hurt so much to let him go. “Cas” Jack said, noticing the smaller white light leaving the swelling mass of silver light Castiel reached up and caught the light “It’s a fragment of a human soul” He said, he looked up at Michael Castiel moved Jack out of the room, he took the soul to Sam and Dean. Dean was having a drink “Sam, Dean” Castiel opened his hand to show them what he was holding “I think this is Adam”. Sam had gone to bed. Jack was in his room. Castiel was watching Dean like a hawk. “Jesus Cas” Dean said “I’m not going to do anything stupid” “No, my name is not Jesus Cas, it’s just Castiel” The angel said Dean snorted. “Don’t ever change Cas” “I don’t like how this sounds like a goodbye Dean” Castiel grumbled, seeing right through Dean’s weak goodbye. Typical him “It’s not” Dean reassured him “I’m not going to do anything stupid. I’m off to bed” “Dean…” Castiel said “It’s fine Cas. Im just going to bed, or do you want to walk me to my room?” Dean got up and drained his drink, he smiled to Castiel “Goodnight” He left Castiel holding on to the bit of Adam’s soul. Dean walked into the hall, he went into his room and laid on his bed. Adam’s face swam into his eyes. He remembered Michael, taunting him in the mirror. ‘This is not him’ Dean told himself. ‘This Michael isn’t HIM’ His breathing was shallow and fast. His eyes watered. He was shaking as he opened his door and crept out back into the kitchen. Michael was there. He was a mass of bright light dancing on the ceiling. Dean’s hair blew under the wind Michael’s power was causing. His t-shirt fanned and rippled up and down his back “We need to find Adam, otherwise I would never do this. Not after last time. I know that wasn’t you, but that was another Michael and he tricked me. He used me, for months. Now I need to know you wont do the same. I owe Adam. I let him down and he is family. But I want the same deal as Adam, I want to be in control. I asked the last Michael this and he said yes, and he lied, so if I were to say yes, I need your word that you wont run off with me, that you will leave when I ask, do I have your word?” The floor lurched and then Dean was no longer standing in the kitchen. He was in a garden and standing in front of him was a man with brown hair. He was beautiful. He looked soft, well groomed, his skin was perfect, and Dean couldn’t take his eyes off him, but he knew who this was.
“Well you don’t look like Cate Blanchett after all” Dean remarked. In truth, his heart was pounding. Whatever he had expected, it was not a face to face with Michael. Michael had opened his mouth to talk, but Dean’s worlds had clearly confused him “What is a Cate Blanchett?” He asked. His voice sent Goosebumps up Dean’s arms. It was like music. “It’s nothing” Dean told the archangel. “So” Dean said “I understand the other Michael hurt you. I seen him in Castiel’s mind. Dean, I want to give you my word. I am not him. We both may be the same being, but we are not the same. Adam is my family too. For years in the cage, we only had each other. It is my wish to save him and be reunited with him. I will not hurt you Dean, it was always my intention to give you a choice, to be honest with you. Back before the cage and now, I have never intended to harm you in any way. Right now I am not at full strength, I need to recover but I can help you find Adam, I wish to get back to Adam. He is my home.”
Dean listened to his words “Just give me your word” Michael’s head moved to the side “I will leave if you ask me to, or as soon as we get Adam to safety”
Dean nodded “Then yes!”

Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 344
Gimme Shelter
“Gimme Shelter”
Plot Description: while Jack and Castiel head to Missouri to investigate a murder involving a teddy bear, Sam and Dean take off to Atlantic City to try to find Amara
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: I’m good. I’m not trying to answer a disembodied voice calling my name in a dark alleyway at night, but like…why this kid??
Omg they didn’t tell Cas about Mrs Butters, but he is annoyed about being sidelined even though he just came back on the scene
Agents Swift and Lovato!!
Cas, nooooooo. “I did [social media] once. There were so many cat photos. It was just…too many cats.” But the thought of Cas on social media…I need to know what platform he was on
This demon should have been brought into the show way earlier. He’s fun in a pathetic way.
At least the second victim tried to get on their phone before disappearing
Why IS Cas being sidelined so hard by Dean??
Ugh, this girl is the…well, it the worst. Whoever is kidnapping and killing these people is the worst, but she’s not PLEASANT
The fact that she told Jack to put his faith in god…when he’s on a mission to kill god
Is the pastor the guy behind this??
Dean’s so upset about not getting to get all you can eat prime rib as quickly as possible
I’m not saying the boys should have gotten to Atlantic City by now (two plus days on the road) but they kinda should have gotten there by now and not still be (normally) four hours away. These are midwestern boys, they can drive for hours and hours in one day
It’s so touching to hear Cas talk about how the Winchesters and Jack have made him rediscover his faith, but we are getting a little too close to Castiel actually feeling happy
Ok. Doesn’t seem like it was the pastor…maybe?
Oof, Amara won’t help them willingly…soooo what’s plan b, boys?
Or maybe it IS the pastor?
Oh!!!!! Dean confronting Amara about having brought Mary back!!
That was quite the conversation between them. Is Dean saying he’d never hurt Amara because Jack’s gonna be the one to do it??
Oh the unpleasant pastor’s daughter is doing it?? Holy shit…I really didn’t think it could be…wait, but what was with the teddy bear and the sort of male sounding disembodied voice?? It just doesn’t track
Oh good, this’ll definitely push Cas further away from happiness. Billie’s plan was to turn Jack into a bomb in order to kill Chuck and Amara
He JUST TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL SAM AND DEAN

whats some of the ideas u have for different characters cutiemarks?
cutiemarks encompass one aspect and ‘talent’ of a pony, and so a pony cannot be defined by cutie mark alone but by their character. I was trying to go for more of a unique skill or aspect of who they are while keeping in mind that these are complex characters that cannot be boiled to one defining talent.
Sam has a Men of Letters Key, if theres a key there must be a lock, right? Unlocking potential, Lucifer being locked in the cage, and problem solving + connection to another part
Dean has a heart emblem, dude does everything out of love even when he isnt good at it. lock shadow underneath for connection to his brother, and Micheal who helped lock away Lucifer. (he got his cutiemark later than his peers when he stayed at Sonny’s)
Angels typically have a winged eye(s), Chuck has an All Seeing Eye and its on fire!
Fallen angels do not typically have cutiemarks, Lucifer for example no longer has his rising son cutiemark and remains blank. Castiel had more opportunity to regain a mark and rediscover himself as a person, though I have not decided what he is good at besides sacrificing himself and having too much heart and rebellion. I like to imagine it is a hoofprint to match the mark he left on Dean after pulling him from hell idk!
Mary has a hunting knife, she tells John its for soap carving and his dumbass believes her!
John has a scope target for his military experience and being a very good hunter and marksman. he thought Dean would have a similar gun related mark after taking him shooting for the first time
Kelly Kline has a checklist check, detail oriented, scheduled, planner, its a crazy job in the white house and she had her whole future planned out!
Jack Kline black and white ouroboros infinity symbol
demons also generally dont have cutiemarks either save for the princes of hell who have a yellow eye(s) that is on fire. Crowley, and folks who became demons after they sold their soul and rotted in hell for a bit, either have a faded mark or devil horns as a new mark.
Eileen has a magnifying glass making a werewolf foot bigger, she tracked down a banshee after 30years, she is perceptive of small details and is in depth with her research
Charlie has a computer :3
Bobby has a wrench good for him
Amara has a blind eye (darkness, cant see lmao)
archangels can change their marks, gabriel is typically the one to do so when its funny
ehhhhh probably more but they are suspect to change as i feel like it

Notice how supernatural is so much better when it's about sam? S1 and 2 is about sam being a demons favourite, that was amazing, s4 was sam being sexc and powerful, amazing. S5, Lucifer being creepy and obsessed with sam, amazing writing. S6 and 7 would've been good if they cared more about sam (further proves my point) s8? Sam walking around looking like he's about to die, top tier television. Now imagine if they did the rest of the show right.

On Monday night, Cas kneels beside the bed and folds his hands, dipping his forehead against the blankets and closing his eyes, lips moving soundlessly. Dean sits on the bed, still as a statue, and watches him, afraid to move.
When Cas straightens his head and uncurls, standing up, his eyes are wet with tears. Dean reaches for him and Cas falls onto the bed, presses his face into Dean’s neck, sobs silently. Dean holds him close, one hand cradling his head and the other rubbing his back, and he stares at their ceiling.
Dear Jack, or God, or whoever, he prays. Please come back. Please come home. We miss you.
On Tuesday morning, Dean untangles himself from Cas gently and brushes the hair from his forehead, presses a kiss to the uncovered skin. He gets out of bed and tiptoes out the door. He’ll get Cas some coffee. It’s the least he can do.
Dean’s chest feels tangled in knots, misery weighing heavily on him. All Dean can think about are his mistakes, all the ways he’s screwed up his kid. All the ways he’s done what he swore he’d never do, three nights after Sam left for Stanford, when he was curled up in a motel bathtub, hiding from his own father.
But today’s not about Dean, or his guilt, or his pain. It’s about Cas, and it’s about Jack.
Dean creeps down the stairs, holding the ends of the dead guy robe up so he doesn’t slip. He drops the fabric once he reaches the hardwood floor down below, and he heads for the kitchen.
Something rattles, and he freezes.
There’s a knife tucked into the leather jacket hanging by the front door, and Dean slides his hand into the pocket, curls his fingers around the hilt. He glides on socked feet towards the kitchen, hoping it’s just Claire--but Claire never wakes up this early.
From the kitchen, something clatters and falls. It sounds like bowls falling, and Dean takes bigger steps, readying his knife. When he turns the corner into the kitchen, though, it’s not a shitty robber or a demon or Claire or anything else Dean thought it might be.
A chair from the kitchen table was dragged across the room, pushed up against the cabinets. The cabinet with the bowls is both open and empty, and the plastic bowls are scattered against the counter and floor. On top of the kitchen chair is a little boy--three or four, with blonde-brown hair and wide blue eyes. His little arms are reached out to the fallen bowls, as if he tried and failed to stop them from falling. He freezes and blinks at Dean, who stares back at him.
“Dean!” the boy cries, and he jumps off the chair and runs full-tilt at Dean, wrapping his little arms around Dean’s leg and burying his face in Dean’s gut. Dean startles and crouches down, disrupting the kid’s hold.
“Hey,” he says gently, unwilling to scare the kid. The little boy is beaming, a bright smile, little baby teeth lined up and gleaming. He has a smattering of freckles across his nose, and he’s wearing a pair of pink dinosaur pajama pants, with a slightly oversized Led Zeppelin t-shirt. His socks say DADDY’S LIL ANGEL on the top of his feet. Dean surveys the boy’s face again. “Jack?” he asks eventually, unsure who else it would be, and maybe a little too hopeful to be thinking straight.
“Yes!” the boy--Jack, apparently--says, flinging his arms around Dean’s neck. Dean hugs him back, confused, and inhales. He smells like the strawberry shampoo he used at the Bunker.
“Hey, buddy,” Dean says, and he stands, his back protesting at the crouch, pulling the little boy up with him. “How are you here? Why are you little?”
“I was all done!” Jack says proudly, spreading his arms out wide and nearly smacking Dean in the face.
“All done?”
“All done!” Jack confirms. “I was soooo tired. So I came home! And now I want cereal.”
He wiggles in Dean’s arms, trying to get down. Dean yields, and Jack runs to the fallen bowls, picking up Claire’s favorite purple one. Dean watches, astounded, as Jack opens the cabinet but can’t reach the cereal. He follows and reaches for it, puts it on the counter.
Jack is here. Jack is home. Jack is his actual age. Dean wonders if he has powers, then he decides it doesn’t matter. If he does, they can deal with that later.
“Hey, Jack,” Dean says. “Come here.”
Jack runs up to him, still clutching his bowl. He lifts his arms obediently, and Dean picks him up, gently takes the bowl from his hand and puts it on the counter.
“You’re home?” Dean asks. “For good? This isn’t a dream?”
“I’m home!” Jack says, kicking his legs. “For ever and ever.” His eyes go wide and uncertain. “You said I could.”
“Yeah, buddy,” Dean says, a lump in his throat. “Of course I did.” He cups the back of Jack’s head and brings their foreheads together, wills away his tears. “Come on, you can have cereal in a little bit.”
He turns away from the mess in his kitchen and towards the stairs. “How did you know we wouldn’t be at the Bunker?”
“I wanted to come home,” Jack says. “Not the Bunker.”
Dean blinks rapidly. Jack pokes the picture of his older self as they pass it on the stairwell. Dean stops at the top of the stairs, turns his head to the left to look at Claire’s bedroom, the door shut tight.
“Shh,” Dean says, and Jack nods solemnly.
“Shh,” he repeats.
Dean turns his head to the right, to look at the door across from Claire’s. It’s shut, too, out of respect. They’ll go there later, Dean decides. They’ll see if Jack likes the decorations Cas put up, or if they’ll have to go to the store and change it. Dean will be thrilled either way.
He keeps walking. His bedroom is at the end of the hall, past Claire’s bathroom, and Dean pushes open the door gently.
“Okay,” he whispers to Jack. “You can jump, but only if you’re very careful.”
“Okay,” Jack whispers back, and Dean dumps him onto the bed. Jack stands and walks the three steps it takes to get him to the middle of the bed. He falls to his knees and pokes at Cas’s chest, then bounces on the mattress beside him. “Daddy, wake up.”
Dean’s heart melts, and Jack pokes at Cas’s cheek, then his nose. Cas doesn’t wake up, and Jack crawls on top of him.
“Dadddyyyy,” he says. Cas startles, then blinks awake, bleary. Dean watches his eyes slit open, confused, and the blue eyes focus on the little boy sitting on his chest. Then Cas shoots upright, hands on Jack’s shoulders.
He looks at Dean, who nods, then he looks back at Jack.
“Jack?” he whispers.
“Daddy!” Jack says happily, then Cas squishes him to his chest, curling over him.
“Jack,” he breathes. “Oh, you came back.”
“Yep!” Jack says, voice muffled, and Dean sits down, crawls onto the bed.
“Apparently he was all done,” Dean says.
“Yep!” Jack says again. “Auntie Amara said it was time to go home.”
“Of course it was,” Cas says, his voice fragile, and he rocks back and forth, holding Jack to his chest. He looks up at Dean, eyes wet, and Dean hugs him.
They stay like that for a long moment, Jack pressed between them, clutching onto Cas’s shirt with tiny fingers. Dean exhales shakily and presses his forehead to Cas’s, then he remembers something.
“Hey buddy,” he says. “Do you know what day it is?”
“Ummm,” Jack says. “Tuesday?”
“No, baby,” Cas says, sniffing.
“No, it’s Tuesday,” Jack argues.
“Of course it is,” Dean says. “But do you know what else it is?”
“No,” Jack says.
“It’s your birthday,” Dean says. “You’re four now.”
“Wow,” Jack says. He wiggles in excitement. “Does that mean we can have cake?”
“Of course we can,” Cas says, making a noise that sounds like a sob and a laugh at the same time.
“And a biiiiiiggg party?” Jack asks.
“The biggest,” Dean promises.
“With Uncle Sammy?” Jack asks. Dean doesn’t know where he picked up “Uncle Sammy”, but he hopes Jack calls him that forever.
“Of course,” Dean says. “I’ll call him in a few minutes. We’ll call everyone.”
“Everyone?” Jack asks.
“Everyone,” Dean says.
“Even Kaia?”
“Especially Kaia,” Dean says. He looks at Cas, realizing that he’s not the only person living in this house, but Cas doesn’t seem like he’s about to argue. In fact, he’s making his calculations face--probably wondering who to invite, who can get here on time and so last minute.
Dean realizes, suddenly, that Claire and Jack have never met. They’ll have to remedy that.
They can, now.
They can do anything, Dean realizes, as they get out of bed and Cas says something about no baby clothes and Jack protests that he’s not a baby, as they tiptoe past Claire’s room to retrieve the promised cereal. Dean unlocks his phone on autopilot, opening the phone app and turning to the favorites tab. When Dean was four, his family was destroyed.
Claire comes downstairs, Miracle in tow, and she shakes Jack’s hand solemnly. Sam screams over the phone. Rowena shows up in half an hour with a closet full of clothes fit for a four year old. Eileen and Sam bring balloons and streamers.
Cas is alive, Dean thinks while he mixes the cake. Sam is hanging up streamers across the room. Jody and the girls bustle in with enough food to feed an army. Claire lets Jack climb on her, looking a bit frightened and a bit resigned. Kaia helps Jack put on a tutu over his jeans. Dean slides the cake into the oven, and watches Eileen teach Alex how to sign happy birthday.
Jack is here now. He’s here and he’s four, and Dean’s family was destroyed when he was four, and now his son is four years old.
“Our family’s all together,” Dean whispers into Cas’s ear. Cas kisses him briefly. Dean had tried to keep track of their kisses, at first, but he’s lost count.
“Yes,” Cas says, eyes bright. “They are.”

When Dean finally rescued Cas from the empty, he expected a happy reunion. He envisioned a strong hug like the first time he had escaped. He expected a long-awaited kiss and repeated confessions that weren’t said with sorrow or heartache. He expected to find the same Cas that was taken, but that would have been too easy.
Cas was left awake, alone, and in complete darkness for months on end.
So when Dean went into the empty, ready to wake up the love of his life, he found Cas curled in on himself—staring blankly out into the void of nothingness. He whispered something so softly and quickly that Dean couldn’t pick up on the actual words, but it sounded familiar. Almost like he was humming a song.
Dean tried to get him to stand up on his own, but he quickly realized that Cas wasn’t even looking at him. His gaze was distant, seeing something Dean can’t even imagine. He then noticed the white film over his eyes dimmed the once bright blue.
His fingertips gently traced over the skin he had only dreamt of touching for months before he took a deep, shaky breath to steady himself. With that slight pause, Dean used whatever desperate strength he had and dragged Cas back to the portal.
Back home.
As they got closer, the light of the portal seemed to startle Cas, and he started to shove Dean away. Dean had to put Cas down so he could take his green jacket off and place it over Cas’s head to calm him before he slowly continued to walk through the portal and into the bunker’s library where Jack, Rowena, Eileen, and Sam were waiting for them.
When they walked through, Dean quickly shushed them as he fell to his knees with Cas still in his arms, hidden under the jacket, and covering his ears at the sudden loud voices surrounding them.
Dean looked around at his family, all sharing the same worried glances knowing they were on the same page. Cas’s welcome home party would be pushed back until further notice.
Cas didn’t cry. His expression didn’t change much at all. All Cas did was sit or lay on Dean’s bed with the lights off. All but the desk light. It was an old lightbulb, so the light wasn’t a bright white like the rest of the place. Instead, it illuminated a soft golden glow against the wall.
Cas squinted at it at first, blinking so inhumanly at it, until all Cas did was stare at it. Whenever Dean made any move to turn it off or even just get near the lamp, Cas made a little whine at the back of his throat.
Little noises were the most Dean can get out of Cas. At least it brought him a little relief. It meant Cas could see him at that moment.
Cas still did that rapid talking or singing whenever it was a little bit too quiet. It made Dean wonder if Cas knew he was out of the Empty. Especially during those times when he would stare right past him, unblinking with cold eyes.
It was only the end of the second week when Dean broke down.
[continue under the cut or on AO3]
He didn’t mean to. He was trying so damn hard to keep it together, especially in front of Cas, but one night he just lost it. He can blame the lack of booze in his system, or as he wants, he can blame Sam, who came up to him about a stupid case. It pissed him off more than it should have. The fact that Sam even believed for a second that he would leave the bunker while Cas was like-well the way he was, just gave him enough of an excuse to raise his voice at someone.
Eileen had to step in and tell him to cool off.
Dean stormed off without a glance back and went to his room. He changed into his pajamas and climbed into bed beside Cas. He laid on his stomach as he wrapped one arm over the top of Cas’s waist, scooting close enough so that he could rest his head on Cas’s shoulder. He then opened his mouth to wish him goodnight just like every night, but something in Dean just broke.
He felt the pressure rise up his throat as he tried to hide his face into the familiar body beside him, but the sob still came.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry it took me so long to go get you. Fuck, Cas, please.” Dean took a shaky breath, sniffling as he reached to hold Cas’s hand closer to him. “We missed- I...I missed you. I missed you so much, Cas.” Dean brought Cas’s hand up to his lips and kissed the knuckles before letting the hand rest by his head. His eyes closed as he sighs, “I love you. So come back to me, okay?"
The only response Dean got was a squeeze of the hand, which was enough hope for the future, and more than Dean could have ever asked for at that moment.
As the days went on, Cas didn’t change. Literally and figuratively. He was still an angel, so there was no need for him to shower or brush his teeth, but Dean swore that Cas’s facial hair was growing, so he liked shaving him at least once a week. Cas seemed to like it by the humming noise he made.
They did learn a couple of things as the days went on.
One, peace and quiet are not what they strive for.
It only brought Cas anxiety, and his humming or singing became much louder and more desperate. They fixed that problem with a Bluetooth speaker constantly playing music in the background, a playlist Jack made mixed in with a playlist Jack helped Dean make. It made the humming stop, and Cas started to roll over in bed. He even sat back against the headboard with his eyes closed a few times.
A month after Cas got back, Dean's phone died in the middle of the night, and the silence must have gotten to him. He covered his ears while he started muttering to himself again. Dean woke up and pulled Cas to his chest while softly sing to him in his still half-asleep phase. He didn’t know why that was his first instinct, but he went along with it cause it started to calm Cas down. Then, Cas held him back for the first time—tucking his head right under Dean's jaw and relaxing.
Dean tried not to stiffen at the touch; if he were honest with himself, he would admit he was trying not to cry because he was busy singing. Busy, not wanting to disrupt this moment.
That night Dean sang all night long until Jack checked on them in the early hours and connected his phone.
Two, always have a light source on.
The lamp was the first one they had. Cas constantly wanted it on, but it bothered Dean all the time when he wanted to sleep. So they bought a cool starlight projector, Sam’s idea, that kept the light on the cement ceiling and not on Dean’s face. Cas seemed to enjoy it as he laid on his back, watching it all night, letting Dean curl up on his side as he slept through the night.
Three, never leave Cas alone.
Nobody wanted to leave Cas alone for more than a minute if they could help it. So they made plans to keep him company at all hours of the day. Of course, they weren’t crowding him. They all came in one by one, except for Dean, who would say, “This is my room. I get to come and go as I damn well please.”
Sam liked to sit by Cas's side and talk nerd like they usually would while cleaning his guns or doing research to help another hunter. He would even pause during the one-way conversation to give Cas some time to answer or try to imagine what Cas would say in that situation. Sam was always calm, wanting to keep it as normal as possible while Cas just stared at him, sometimes his eyebrows knitted together, and Dean had to excuse himself as he felt his chest tighten up.
Eileen sat by his side and watched shows she liked while she talked to Cas out loud and signed so he could hear her voice. Even then, she didn’t talk much. Instead, she let the laptop do the talking as she pets Cas’s hair while sitting on the chair by the bed.
Jack came in the most next to Dean. He liked reading to him or talking about how his skills as the new God have improved thanks to Amara.
"Dad, I hope you'll be proud of me." Jack once whispered to Cas, who was having a bad day, checking out more than usual as he stared off into the distance. Eyes wide and almost screaming.
It was almost the end of the second month when another big mile-stone happened.
Jack was lying in bed with Cas while Dean was at his desk, cleaning his guns obsessively again. Jack was reading him a book he bought during his recent trip to the bookstore with Eileen, it was a Star Wars story.
Jack was getting into the book as he read slower but louder during a big fight scene. He got so excited that he even jumped up and looked back at Cas, "Did you hear that, Dad? He won!"
Cas smiled back at him- a genuine smile- and Dean almost dropped the piece of metal in his hand while Jack froze, his shoulders tightening up while he scrunched up his lips as if trying to hold back his cry.
Instead, he quietly composed himself as he asked in a shaky voice, "You want me to read the rest?"
Cas only blinked at him, keeping the slight smile, and Jack took it as a yes. Jack sat beside him again with a big smile plastered on his face, wiping his eyes every other word, as he rested his head on Cas's shoulder to continue reading. Dean didn’t miss when Cas tilted his head down to rest his cheek on Jack’s hair.
He had to excuse himself again.
After that day, Cas slowly started to open up a little more.
Once Dean woke up with Cas out of bed. Dean was already in full panic mode, his shoes on the wrong feet and jacket inside out as he called out for Sam.
Then just as quick as the panic came, relief flooded him when he found Cas in the kitchen trying to make coffee. He turned towards Dean and gave him the smallest of smiles, but it filled Dean with such solace that he just dragged himself to Cas’s space. Dean held his arms open to press Cas into him, and without a second thought, Cas fell right into him as if it was an everyday normal occurrence.
That was the start of Cas now being up and around the bunker. It was like when a baby starts crawling, everyone keeping tabs on the baby’s first steps, except this baby was an eon old celestial being.
The library, Dean’s room, the Dean-cave, and the kitchen were Cas’s favorite places just to sit. He always had Dean’s headphones on, softly playing music, just in case it went quiet, and it took a while for him to be able to walk around without those.
It was the sixth month when Cas wished Dean a goodnight first and then added, “I love you, Dean.”
Dean fought the lump in his throat, but Cas instantly pulled him in, his arms wrapped securely around him. He had so much he wanted to say to Cas just to hear his voice again, anything to listen to his voice again, but instead, he kisses Cas’s chest before saying, “I love you, too.”
Days came and went. Sometimes it seemed like Cas was getting better as he talked a little more, but then those days would come when he would just stare off into the stars on their ceiling. Not moving an inch or bothering to fake breath like he liked. Those days the music was a little louder, and Cas held on to Dean a little tighter.
“I don’t want to go back. Please,” Cas pleaded as he stared wide-eyed at the darkness in the corner of their room. As if he was having a nightmare with his eyes wide open. “Please don’t make me…I-I don’t want to be in the dark again!”
Dean took Cas’s face in between his hands to hold his gaze. Only talking when he knew Cas was seeing him. “It’s okay, Cas. I got you. Nobody’s taking you away from me ever again.”
“Promise?” Dean felt Cas’s grip at his shoulder, holding him with desperation.
“Promise.”
That’s how Cas became human.
The nightmares have him waking up screaming some days, but at least Cas knew he was safe from the Empty’s clutches.
He was going to live his human life being loved and taken care of, and Dean was happy to say he felt Cas was doing the same for him.

I’m gonna rant for a bit, because after thinking about it for a solid 1 minute Supernatural had so much potential to make Sam and Dean’s relationship with Mary extremely strange, but in a “I just came back from the dead and to a world I don’t know, I cannot handle being a mom to 2 grown adults who are older than me so actually we’re siblings now” kind of way. Hear me out.
Just... imagine. You’re 29, you have 2 sons, one who’s 4-years-old and the other who is only 6 months. You die. 33 years later, you’re alive again but you’re still 29, and you’re faced with your 2 now adult sons, one who is now 8 years older than you, and the other 4 years older. Your sons are literally now older than you. They have experienced life for longer than you have. Your oldest has wrinkles and you don’t. How fucking weird is that!!
Just the... complexity that kind of relationship would have. I did love how they approached Mary in the show, how they had Dean confront her and how we later find out that Amara brought her back just so Dean could face reality and not paint his mum as a saint but like... it could’ve been so much more weird. That kind of situation just calls for weird.
That scene where Mary ordered them dinner should have been so much more awkward and not as comfortable and light-hearted as it was. What if Mary just outright told them “I don’t cook” and they’re like “uh... okay, well, we could order?” and she perks up like “order?” and she’s thinking oh cool they’ll just call the nearest pizza place but no, her sons pull out a mobile phone and they try to teach her how to use the app but she just gets frustrated and doesn’t get it so they give up, Dean orders and they spend the time waiting teaching her how to use a phone. And okay kids are usually teaching their parents how to use technology but this is just weird because her sons are older than her. Then the food gets there and she’s like “why don’t I serve it?” because that’s what mothers do, right? But it feels weird and awkward and wrong because they’re grown men so she shouldn’t have to mother them, right? And they eat in silence and it’s so fucking awkward and all of them know it’s awkward and after a moment Mary goes “... Dean, do you uh... do you still like pie?” and he says yes and it’s a huge fucking relief but at the same time it’s fucking not because that’s all she knows!! that’s all she knows about her son and thank fuck he still likes pie but that’s all she knows.
And just- Mary having a full breakdown because she always wanted to be a mother, that’s all she wanted. She just wanted to drop the hunter life and be a mother and just live a normal fucking life for once and she can’t. She can’t. That life was ripped away from her and now her sons are adults and older than her and she didn’t raise them and they’re hunters and she’s a hunter again and she can’t be a mother. Her sons are hunters and she never wanted that and it makes her nauseous and makes her head hurt. And Sam and Dean find her sobbing in one of the bathrooms next to the toilet and they hold her close until she stops shaking. They comfort her because she can’t comfort them. She only knows how to be a mother to a 4-year-old and a baby, she can’t be a mother to them.
And you know what? Sam and Dean are oddly okay with that. All they wanted growing up was a mother to care for them, to cook them food and be there to hold them when things got bad. But now that they have their mother in front of them? They realise that they don’t really... need her. Not Mary sepcifically, but just a mother. They’ve survived the past 33 years without a mother, and sure it was shitty but it happened and they’re used to it. They’re grown men, they don’t need a mother. Sure, it would’ve been nice but when Mary tried again the next day by making them scrambled eggs with a forced smile they just cringed. They don’t need a mother. It sucks, and they wish so bad that they had one growing up, maybe things would’ve been better, but they’ve dealt with this for the past 33 years and they’re good.
So, okay, she’s not their mum. She is, but she’s not. Really, they’re just strangers trying to get to know each other. And so they do. They spend time together, so much they eventually become insperable. Not in a separation anxiety kind of way, but when Mary isn’t desperately trying to play the mother role the three just click and make a kickass team. They can’t call her “mom” in public because she obviously looks younger than them so when they’re out shopping or anywhere else they just call her Mary and introduce her as their sister. It works, it’s believable because they look related, they are, but no one blinks when they refer to her as a sister.
And eventually they stop calling her “mom” and start just calling her Mary. And “mom” becomes a rare word, a word used in dark moments where one of them is frantically putting pressure on a wound that won’t stop bleeding, or when Mary finally breaks free of the British Men of Letters’ brainwashing. But one day Dean takes a sip from a beer, puts it down and is quiet for a moment before saying “... I think we’ve accidentally adopted our mom as our sister” and Sam just goes “yep” and cue John Mulaney ‘you know those days when you’re like “this might as well happen”? adult life is already so goddamn weird’ and it’s just. that just becomes their dynamic.
She’s not their mum, they’re not her sons, so the relationship dynamic they adopt is siblings. And the concept is so fucking weird but it feels more normal to them than her being their mum. She’s just now their little sister and they’re her big brothers and it’s like “huh. okay. didn’t expect this to happen but okay”
Like it’s STRANGE but I think their situation calls for it!! This is SUPERNATURAL!! Let it be fucking weird!! She’s their mum but no! Now she’s their little sister!! Imagine the humor opportunities!
Mary starts to date and she dates a hunter who isn’t aware of the situation and it’s like Sam and Dean act like protective older brothers and give the person the “you hurt her she’ll hurt you, good luck” talk but also
Hunter: so... ever thought of settling down and having kids? Mary, immediately panicking like should she tell them?? is this an appropriate topic to introduce on the third date? she can’t even wikihow this! she tried and nothing came up!: uhhhh
And also after Jack is born and I’m just gonna sprinkle some baby!jack AU in this, after Dean is like *points to Jack* this is my son and *points to Cas* this is my husband Mary’s like
Mary: damn... I’m a 30-year-old grandmother. I don’t wanna be a 30-year-old grandmother Sam: technically you’re 63 Mary: technically I died when I was 29, was dead for 33 years, got brought back to life and was still 29 so you can shut your face I’m a 30-year-old grandmother Dean: I thought we all agreed you’re more like our sister Mary: not when it comes to being a grandmother. I can’t handle being your mom but I can certainly handle being Jack’s grandma Cas: I’m confused... I thought you just said you don’t want to be a grandmother Mary, holding Jack up: I’m a grandma now

When you come back to reality, you see Amara standing next to Dean.
"Castiel is going to be okay," she says when she knows you're paying attention to her.
"And what if he isn't?" you ask, not thinking that Dean is standing right there.
"What?" he asks, confused.
"Castiel was always the favorite," she says. "He's going to be just fine."
"When is it ever just fine for us?" you ask angrily.
"Who are you talking to?"
"Come on, you don't see Amara right there?" you ask, pointing to the spot she's in.
Dean looks to the right of him, but he doesn't see anyone standing right next to him. He has a look on his face that tells you that something is seriously wrong with you. If you're the only one who can see her, then that means she is a hallucination. But why? Why are you seeing her now?
"We'll talk about this later," he huffs out in frustration.
He walks first into the auction room, but you hang back to look at Amara. She shrugs and doesn't say a word, and you follow your husband with your dog at your side and your daughter clinging tightly to your neck. You take a seat next to your husband and place Joanna on your lap so she is sitting instead of clinging to your neck.
"Ladies, gentlemen, and... others, welcome to this once-in-a-lifetime event," Beau greets everyone. "The first name in magical and alchemical esoterica. Our prices may be high, but our quality is unmatched, and we stand by our products."
You know this isn't going to work, but everyone takes out their wallets and passes all the cash and any other means of money over to Dean.
"Don't know why you're so keen on that hunk of dirt. So it tells you how to blast back a few demons? I'll just make more. Can't get rid of all of my black-eyed boys, Samantha," Crowley says from behind you.
"Yeah, we'll see." Sam turns away from the demon to address Dean. "Alright. So, how much do we have for plan 'B'?"
"Uh, well, we got our hacked credit cards, $2,000, and a, Costco membership."
You look at Ms. Tran who just nods as if it'll ease your nerves.
"Our first item, the amulet of Hesperus. Let's start the bidding with, um, three tons of dwarven gold?" Your mouth drops open a bit, and you look at Dean who is just as shocked as you. Everyone raises their hands as if it's nothing. "Ah. This lady. I have three. Do I have, uh, four? Ah. Four, gentlemen here. Four. Going for five. Five? Five to this lady. Do we have an advance of five tons?"
"Plan 'C'?" Sam whispers.
"Big time."
"Any other bids? Any other bids? No? Sold to the lady here."
"I'm gonna use the restroom."
Dean gets up and leaves the room, but you know he isn't going to go to the bathroom. Plan C is to steal the tablet. As if it could work. You know that there will be at least one person with the tablet at all times, but that doesn't seem to stop Dean. You look off to the left and see Amra standing there, but no one else can see her. Maybe you're going crazy and this is only the beginning of your descent.
Dean comes back five minutes later empty handed. He shakes his head, and you just sigh knowing you'll have to come up with something else that won't put your kids in danger. Just as he sits down, Beau brings out the next item, Thor's Hammer.
"Our next item up for bid, the hammer of Thor, Mjolnir."
"Damn, I wish I could have that. It's Thor's hammer!"
"A finger bone from the frost giant Ymir," one older man says, but Plutus shakes his head. "Uh, the bone, and 5/8th of a virgin."
This gets Plutus' attention, and he nods.
"Sold!"
"Plan 'C' tanked," Dean whispers to you and Sam.
"Maybe you should try plan 'D' for dumbass," Crowley bites.
You and Dean turn around to glare at him, but all he does is smirk at you. What you wouldn't give to kill this fucker right here, right now.
"Our next lot, the Word of God with a capital 'G'--very old, very rare," Beau says, holding up the tablet.
"Three billion dollars," Crowley says immediately, standing up.
"Are you shitting me?" you ask and look at Crowley.
"The 'Mona Lisa'," Sammandriel says and stands up.
"The real 'Mona Lisa' where she's topless," Crowley argues.
"Vatican City."
"Alaska."
"Palin and a bridge to nowhere? No, thanks," Plutus shakes his head.
"Alright. The moon," Crowley bids.
"You're bidding the moon?" you ask, completely done with him.
"Yeah. Claimed it for Hell. Think a man named Buzz gets to go into space without making a deal?"
"Ah. I'm sorry, gentlemen. It seems that our reserve price has not been met. So, in order to stimulate the bidding, we're going to add an item to this lot," he points to Kevin. "Kevin Tran, Prophet of the Lord."
Just then, Kevin disappears from his seat and appears chained to the table next to Plutus.
"No!" Ms. Tran yells and stands up.
Everyone does to save Kevin, but everyone is forced to sit back down by Plutus' men. However, when one of them puts his hands on you, you turn and blast him to the wall with your magic.
"Don't touch me!"
Plutus nods to someone you can't see, and suddenly, you're forced into someone's body harshly. It's someone who is a lot stronger than you and the other man who tried to grab you, so you have no choice but to stay still in his arms. You hold Joanna close to you, but Dean is enraged that you're potentially in danger.
"Mama," Joanna whines.
"It's okay, baby," you whisper and kiss her head.
"Mr. Tran is the only person on Earth who can read this tablet, which makes them a perfect matching set," Beau smiles when he realizes the room isn't hectic anymore.
"So out of your league," Crowley smirks.
"So, do I hear a bid of--"
"No, stop! I'll give you whatever you want. I have a 401(K), my house, whatever you want!" Ms. Tran begs for her son.
"Good effort, Ms. Tran, but I'm afraid this is a little out of your price range."
"My soul," she blurts out.
"Mom, don't!"
"I bid my soul!"
"Are you sure? That's a big move," Dean says.
"Interesting," Plutus nods.
"If it's souls that you're after, I can give you a million souls," Crowley ups her offer.
"Hey, flyboy, are you gonna get in on this?" Dean asks of the angel.
"We guard the souls in Heaven. We don't horse-trade them."
"So, do we have a deal?"
"It's not about the quantity, chief. It's about the sacrifice. This little lady's soul is the most valuable thing she has. It's everything. Are you willing to offer everything, Mr. Crowley?" Plutus asks.
"Tick-tock," Dean grins, and everyone is looking at him.
"Fine. You win. I bid... my own soul!"
"Mr. Crowley, you don't have a soul," Plutus laughs before turning to Ms Tran. "Congrats, sweetheart."
"Thank you. Thank you."
Crowley leaves in a huff, and the gods holding you and the brothers back let go of you. You immediately run over to Dean who accepts you with open arms. The rest of the auction was uneventful, so you have to wait there until everyone else has already left. Soon, the only people here are the winners of the auction to collect their prizes.
"Is losing my soul going to hurt?" Ms. Tran asks.
"Probably," Dean nods.
"Will I die?"
"No. You'll just wish you were dead."
"Okay," she whispers.
Beau enters the big room and he looks at Ms. Tran.
"It's time."
You and the brothers get up, but Ms. Tran stays seated.
"You okay?" you ask.
"Yeah. Can I--can I just have a minute?"
You three leave the area, and you keep Joanna and Zeus close to you. Beau also gives her some privacy since he's not a total monster. This is a big thing to give up, so he understands if she needs some time.
"Dean, this sucks," Sam sighs.
"Are you kidding me? We're about to close the gates of Hell forever. If you ask me, we got off cheap."
You're looking at the other artifacts when you see the person who bought Mjolnir pick it up. You whimper softly at the thought of something like that going into the hands of someone who probably doesn't deserve it.
"Mama, what that?" Joanna tries asking, looking at the hammer.
"A very special hammer for a very special man."
"Daddy," she smiles.
"Yes, like daddy," you chuckle and kiss her head.
The door opens and Beau and Ms. Tran walk in, but that isn't Ms. Tran. She is possessed by Crowley because you can see the red smoke outlining her body--the same red smoke you see outlining Crowley's body. You open your mouth to say something, but he looks at you and suddenly, you can't seem to speak. You turn to alert the brothers, but you can't seem to move either. He's working some kind of spell on you, and you're not sure how to break it. Amara appears next to you, but you can only stare at her with panic in your eyes.
"He's casting a spell on you, Y/N. Break it. Concentrate on breaking it. You can do this," she encourages since that's all she can do at this point.
"Where's the kid?" Dean asks.
Plutus snaps his fingers, and Kevin appears next to him and a guard holding him.
"What are you gonna do with her soul?" Sam wonders.
"Whatever I want. I might sell it, or maybe I'll just tuck it away with my other precious objects, let them keep me warm at night. Whenever you're ready, dear."
He holds out his hand, and she raises the one she got the tattoo on. You close your eyes and concentrate, fighting through the invisible barrier to break free. Just as that magical shell shatters, Dean notices the burned tattoo on her arm.
"That's Crowley!" you yell just as Dean steps in.
"Hello, boys," she smirks, flashing her eyes red.
