Chemistry Behind Ancient Pigment, 'Chinese Purple'
Tumblr media
In ancient times, rare non-natural pigments, especially blues and purples. 'Chinese Purple' or 'Han Purple' a Barium Copper Silicate BaCuSi₂O₆ pigment, emerged from the Western Zhou to the Han Dynasty, found in terracotta army garments at the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum. Initially linked to Egyptian Blue, Chinese Purple predates Silk Road contacts by centuries, suggesting an independent discovery.

Likely an alchemical serendipity during Daoist experiments, its compounds—copper, barium, and lead—aligned with materials used by Daoist alchemists in creating ancient lead-barium glass.

If with only a little more than 20% Rick consoled Morty, told him that he loves him, listened, communicated his thoughts, tried to support him in everything, was kind, was affectionate, hugged him. WHAT THE HELL WOULD HE DO WITH 30% OR 50% EVEN.

vampire squids!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
vampire squids are cephalopods found in temperate or tropical oceans in the deep sea!
the vampire squid actually has a history of misclassification, for a long time they were classified as as an octopus
they live in the oxygen-minimum zone, as there are fewer predators!
vampire squids have the slowest metabolism compared to all other cephalopods
this means that food lasts longer for them!
most other cephalopods are hunters, but the vampire squid is a scavenger
the eyes of a vampire squid are one of the largest eyes in the entire animal kingdom!

Have you all noticed that in Orochimaru's theme song there's a vocal note by a woman? Have you ever wondered what she's saying?
She says "दिल की खामोशियों से बात ना क" (dil ki khaamoshiyo se baat na kar)
It's a Hindi phrase which translates: "don't talk with the melancholic silences of the heart.."
Damn!
Honestly, given that Naruto took inspiration from Hindu mythology I feel that this phrase was not really a coincidence.

The chemistry behind "Ocean Smell"
Tumblr media
Near the coast, the unmistakable scent of the sea, often attributed to salt, actually stems from dimethyl sulfide (DMS). Produced by marine algae and decomposed by bacteria from decaying organisms, DMS forms marine aerosols through wave action, creating the iconic 'ocean smell.' As a major volatile sulfur compound, DMS constitutes approximately 95% of marine sulfur emissions, playing a crucial role in climate regulation by exerting anti-greenhouse gas effects.
