Monk Nicky by @artgroves — this one has touched me from the moment I saw it and never let me go. The yearning! And there’s a beautiful Yusuf to go with it and one of them both. These pieces are beyond beautiful, and I was so happy to match some words to them.

Nile and Nicky on a mission looking dashing by @beepbeepsan — can’t get over the fabric. It’s insane! Both of them look beautiful. And the colour!?

Joe and Nicky with Tattoos by @begaydocrime-nickyjoe — this one is just so full of warmth and happiness and laughter. I want to live in this art. Joe’s hair is amazing! Please treat yourself!

Drowning by @hachinana87 — screaming, crying, throwing up. This is the one that always gets me.

Mamma Mia by @non-un-topo — this is just so hilarious and I can hear the song looking at the art!

Line cooks Nicky and Nile by @linaxart — It’s exquisite! The beauty of the mundane but also the colours and the lighting!? It looks like a stained glass window. With garbage cans. And that just makes me want to kneel down and worship this art.

Ange de Goussinville by @sassy-wartime-nun — Maybe the best Andy I know. The depth and perspective! *chef’s kiss*

Midnight by @seanchaidh7 — I love this one! The pose and their hands intertwined. It’s like a dream, a little wild, but beautiful.

Paying It Forward 13.06.2022

Since my return to fandom back in 2018, one thing I’ve always wanted to do was to put together a rec list of fics I like and share it with this beautiful, crazy place I’ve come to call home, but I’ve always been too shy to actually go and do this…why, you ask? That I know not. But what with today being a very special day for me, I decided to pay it forward and share some of the stories that have brought me feelings galore. Perhaps my worries are also rooted in thinking that some of my favourite stories have already been included in many other lists. But then again, this is my list and I'm going to pour a bit of my heart into it.

💜A Holiday in Provence by dracoismytrashson (E, 32K, Drarry)

I seldom have the energy to return to stories I’ve previously read, but this is one of the few Drarry tales I periodically find myself rereading. I love the setting, the food, the getting together, the fact that this is salt & pepper Drarry…It’s absolutely perfect.

It starts so perfectly on point and is such a beautiful rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. Fills me with fondness.

💜The Four Ds of Apparition (or: Destination, Determination, Deliberation, and Dicks) by eidheann & @firethesound (E, 36K, Drarry)

I mean, I'm not sure if I really need to say anything about this. It's pretty much a fandom staple, I guess. It's also one of the stories I go to when I'm in need of a pick-me-up because it always delivers.

This was/is so bittersweet and thoroughly perfect. I love the red string of fate and the hurt/comfort. It moves me in all the right ways, a true gem.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit exactly how many times I've read this story, so let's just say it's been a good few. grin I love just about everything about it, which is to say, it's wonderfully written, hot, and truly gripping.

I mean, what can I say besides that I'm truly enamoured by the entire concept of this story, the fact that two people take the time to open up to each other and negotiate about what exactly it is they want is truly inspirational, and the summary is just about epic.

I cannot resist a good rentboy!trope fic and this one delivered so beautifully and in every imaginable way possible. I think it's actually been a while since I read this and I would very much like to dive right back into this world which I think I will do just as soon as my own commitments are taken care of.

💜The Darklist by dysonrules (M, 87K, Drarry)

I honestly don't know what's not to love. The beautiful ways how this is built on The Blacklist yet retains every bit of originality and perfect characterisation? The writing? The everything? I'm just in love.

💜Aural Gratification by birdsofshore (E, 10K, Drarry)

This is stunningly beautiful in so many ways. It's also hot. Very hot. And amusing, very amusing. If I am not entirely mistaken there is/was a podfic for this and while I usually prefer reading, I thoroughly enjoyed listening.

💜December Never Felt So Wrong by @maesterchill (E, 50K, Drarry)

This fic, while being Christmas-themed, is one that captured me so and to this day I am still thoroughly enamoured with it. Such exquisite work, such a thoughtful writing process and the chapter titles that went with each image. I am completely in awe and I will always remain that way.

💜My Name in Your Mouth by @lqtraintracks (E, 18K, Draco/Harry/Teddy)

Probably the first triad fic I ever read because something about LQT's writing always feels safe and wholesome, even if it's explicit sex. I just know I can trust that I am going to enjoy myself. Part of the reason is probably also that I have a major crush on their writing and know that they are a truly wonderful soul, but yeah, this fic is glorious!

💜Draco Malfoy: Toilet Supremo by who_la_hoop (T, 26K, Drarry)

This is probably a fic that changed me in a way I do not know how to explain. The summary alone was enough to crack me up and the fic did not disappoint. I loved every second of my reading time. Such fondness. Also, THE TWIST.

💜when evil blooms by thedoomofvalyria (E, 83K, Drarry)

I will never stop screaming about this fic. It is everything. Draco's purple waistcoat still kills me (I really need one in RL and I have no idea how to get my hands on one) and the art is so utterly stunning.

💜Chasing Dragons by @the-sinking-ship (E, 98K, Drarry)

This story probably embodies everything I love. An absolutely fantastic plot that kept me hooked from the second I started reading. The character development is amazing and the descriptions are absolutely breathtaking, also DRAGONS!!! Nuff said.

💜Burned Silk, Buckled Leather by @ruinsplume (E, 12K, Sirius/Draco)

I only just raved about this fic to a friend today and they are equally as excited. I'm dying to read this again because not only is this a a rarepair I didn't think I would enjoy (or thought about at all) but it's also so beautifully written that it brought a tear to my eyes when I first read it.

💜Wonderful Electric (cover me in you) by @lqtraintracks (E, 10K, Drarry)

I don't know how to be normal about this fic. I screamed when the notification dropped into my inbox and ran right over to read it. I just had to indulge and I have no regrets nor will I ever have any regrets. This is so beautifully written that talking about it here makes me tearful.

💜The Beauty of Thestrals and Other Unseen Things by @writcraft (E, 63K, Drarry)

Such a beautiful take on a heavy topic and given that it's pride month, so so so valid. I absolutely loved reading this story and I wept a few times, it was/is so stunning.

💜Who we are in the shadows by @quicksilvermaid (E, 99K, Drarry)

I very distinctly remember where I was when I read this fic. I was still in China and I read the entire thing sitting on the fluffy rug beside my bed while my cat was sleeping beside me on the bed, hugging my forearm. And I raved about it to anyone who would listen and in at least one comment. It was one of the first stories I read upon my proper return to fandom and I love love love it so so so much.

💜Freedom to be by @quicksilvermaid (E, 169K, Drarry)

I devoured this story and I think it was right around the time of reading this that I coined the term unputdownable, which became my go-to description for any fic I would and do give up sleep for.

💜Modern Love by @tackytigerfic (E, 61K, Drarry)

I think I lost it after I read this fic. Tacky has the uncanny ability to transport me to any place they write about and the feeling is so intense and so beautiful that I'm continually stunned by it. Also, Tacky is one of the loveliest people in fandom and I've been crushing hard for a very long time...I've just been keeping shush about it. But I guess the dragon's out of the bag now.

I am also struggling to be normal about this fic, because bloody heck, this is one ride I know I will take again and again. I'm quite certain I shouted loudly in the comments about the awesomeness of this tale.

I cannot even begin to find the right words to explain how I feel about this story. I love absolutely everything about it, which is very helpful when writing a rec, I know, but this is personal to me and as such, all I can do is share my own feelings. The truly and beyond beautiful execution of this fake/pretend relationship trope fills me with so much love. And the plot!!! OMG.

💜Lovesick by @corvuscrowned (T, 7K, Drarry)

Yet another fic I don't know how to be normal about. Never mind that Crow is like the nicest, kindest, sweetest, loveliest person ever, this fic killed me in ways I will not even try to explain. Because I do not have words. Only feelings, loads and loads of feelings.

Omph. The slow burn. The writing. The story, the...the...the everything! I need this fic to be a movie and I wish to watch it at least once a day.

Besides the fact that this story is like 40K of pure dopamine and serotonin, I do not know what to say. Also, it's Crow. And I may just be a little in love. Or a lot. In a normal sort of fandom way.

Gosh, I cried ugly tears over this fic and fell in love with it with no less than probably, uh, I don't know 10 times? And then I promptly ran into my friend's DMs to sob about missing my dear dad even though the fic and my dad are completely unrelated. Still, this fic is utterly gorgeous.

💜Licurici by @lou-isfake (E, 133K, Draco/Charlie/Harry)

Lou is truly an exceptional writer, they created this beautiful piece that changed me in such a beautiful way that I will absolutely and unequivocally never stop screaming about this story. I've always loved Charlie with either Draco or Harry but Lou went and put them all together into the most beautiful triad and they also wrote the most stunning tale of love, empathy, self-discovery, and acceptance. Also, the smut is out of this world.

💜Grounding Harry by @nerdherderette (M, 4K, Drarry)

This was a very recent rec because I'm currently (and actually have always been) on a salt & pepper train and it's such a beautiful sassy piece of writing, I will never get over this.

💜First Week of Eternity by InnerLilith (E, 7K, Drarry)

Absolutely everything InnerLilith writes is pure gold and I am quite possibly quite deeply in love. For one because InnerLilith is a fabulous person, and two, because of THAT EPIC TWIST and three because Interpersonal Relationships Year 7, Unit 3: How to Have Sex Like a Responsible Adult exists in my world.

💜What Have You Been Hiding Under Those Robes, Professor Malfoy? by @thebooktopus (E, 15K, Drarry)

If I actually said everything I want to say about this fic and the art that exists for this, I will still be writing this post this time next year. I am so utterly in love with this story, it's positively unreal. Also, Maddy is the bestest!

When Pheebs dropped the first part of this, I died, screamed myself hoarse and responded with keyboard smashes galore. Then art appeared and Pheebs wrote more and I died again and, of course, I begged for a sequel and Pheebs (because she's truly awesome and a dearest friend) delivered. I am not normal about this story or the fact that this cactus is my friend.

💜You Make Me Melt by @phd-mama (E, 4K, Drarry)

I cannot stop raving about this story. It's beautiful, it's tender, it's HOT, and it brought a new friend into my life, two actually, and when a story does that to me, it goes into the collectables jar and that's where it stays for all eternity.

I am forever changed by this story. I never considered this triad a possibility but it's perfect, amazing, wonderful, truly, truly, perfect. I am so so so in love with the story. And I've been so very vocal about this story's amazingness and I will continue to be very vocal about it.

Sometimes I mention offhandedly that my dad is an artist and people are like oh haha cool and then I send them shit like this,

And it pretty unanimously receives the reaction of "Oh shit I didn't know you meant like an artist artist!" Like! Yeah dude he went to school for it and all! And this is only shit he did for funsies! This isn't even including the, frankly, MASTERFUL oil paintings that I grew up with just hung around the house.

My MOM is also an artist in her own right, but with thread instead of paint or pencil.

It's INSANE, and I'm just sitting here like... my parents should have shit hanging in art galleries... and yet they have to worry about money and never being able to retire... idk man it's such bullshit. I look at the talent my parents have and it kinda makes me ache because they deserve so much better. SO MANY PEOPLE deserve so much better, and for their talent and skills to be recognized!

Idk it's so late that it's early and I'm starting to get that "post flu shot" funk but it's been something I've been thinking about a lot.

percy was incessant.

ever since you’d reached camp and gotten settled in, he seemed to be everywhere. whether it be in the mornings at breakfast, at training, when you hung out with your friends, your boyfriend always found away to be right there with you. spacial boundaries be damned.

everyone noticed, they all chalked it up to adorableness. the two of you couldn’t stand to be apart from each other for too long, how adorable was that? but that was only the start. the following along you could put up with, it was quite easy to escape when needed. letting him talk to your friends and get engrossed in the gossip of the ares cabin. excusing yourself from him for lady reasons which never failed to make him red in the face.

it wasn’t as if you were sick of him or anything but you felt smothered. everywhere you turned he was right there, shining smile and ready to talk your ear off. you figured as your relationship progressed and he made more friends, that he’d have his own time.

why would he need friends when he has you?

but your rude awakening came in the form of a training session with a friend.

harry was one of the first people who welcomed you into your cabin, open arms and a warm smile. and percy hated him most. he hated the fact that someone else was able to provide you with the comfort he assumed only could originate from him. anytime the two of you were hanging out hed always inject himself in between the two of you.

“are you trying to burn your marshmallow?” harry laughed at your words whilst retracting his stick, “no but i like it crispy, chocolate melts easier with it.” the two of you had a long day, training with new campers and helping them settle in with luke. even if you didn’t have to, solving a dispute with the ares kids. and even solving the mystery of the stolen shoes. percy had been in the infirmary as a punishment for being out later than usual and accidentally falling from a tree.

he was trying to make sure you were safe in your cabin.

he’d been annoying the apollo kids into letting him out early and at some point they couldn’t take it anymore so they let him go. coming to see you, he didn’t expect to find you sitting next to harry, sharing a marshmallow. of course most people would just see it as a normal sharing but for percy? he wanted to drown the boy. who does he think he is? making a move on his girlfriend just because he’s in the infirmary?

“y/n.” his stern voice drew you from your conversation as you got up, “perce! you’re okay!” you smiled as you walked over to him, percy’s eyes were still trained on the kid. “perce?” you waved your hand in front of his face as percy grabbed a hold of your wrist and pulled you along, “what the hell? if you want me to come with you then just say so!” you were infront of his cabin now and he did not look happy, “i’m stuck in the infirmary and instead of coming to visit me, you’re hanging out with him?” his voice was filled with disgust, as your expression screamed puzzled.

“i was the first person who visited you! straight away, but you were unconscious for hours! there’s no point in me sitting there, since it’s not going to help you. so i got out of the way and let them do their work. my world doesn’t stop spinning because you’re not there percy.” you were too busy looking at him, his curling fists going unnoticed.

“i’m your boyfriend, not him. i don’t want to see you around him.” your hand slapped over your mouth as you laughed, from far away you might’ve seemed insane. your hands clutched your head, then abdomen as you laughed, “ahaha! oh my god! you’re crazy! you don’t own me, nor control me percy. if you want to be my boyfriend, you need to learn that i am my own person. when you change your attitude, then come back to me.” you walked away from him, before turning around.

“and until then i’m not sleeping here.” you ran inside to pick up your clothes and bag as percy stood in the doorway, “are you serious?” you clutched all of your belongings, as if he’d try to steal them, “yes i am.” surprisingly he let you go, watching you walk back to your own cabin.

the rest of the night he spent thinking of how he could get you back in his grasp. capture the flag was tomorrow, and he had a plan to make you see just how much you needed him.

At this point i just live and breathe drama behind the scene pictures, especially The Untamed since they are so funny- It's chaotic. How on earth did they manage to film it in time?

All jokes aside, the whole cast is just amazingly talented and it's a shame that aside from Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, no one else has really "skyrocketed". There are so many talented people who deserve better roles, leading roles even.
