Hmmm I've been humming and hahing about a line that separates words - I started it in a flurry while consumed with other fics and the outline SHOWS, plus it being a Christmas fic means I have to be in a certain mood which has made it very hard to return to

Getting into a characters head, building out a world from their pov.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

Descriptions. Whether it's scenery or physical character or action. The image of a scene is so clear in my head but translating that to word is difficult.

"Home isn’t Four Walls (It’s Two Eyes and a Heartbeat)” by palaces_out_of_paragraphs. I’m always down for a good s1 AU, and the way they write Westallen is so soft and tender 🥺

✨: A fic you wish you could read again for the first time

Another one of @ambivalentmarvel’s fics: “the choice is yours”, which handles Yelena so, so well, and even sets her on a path that I feel is so much more fitting than what the MCU did. Made me tear up more than once. 10/10 would recommend, you will come out of it loving Yelena so much more and being in awe of ambi's characterization and prose (what else is new lol she's great at that)

ooh "time is a flat circle"? 👀

time is a flat circle, the direct result of BULLYING in the spooder server by known menaces @seek--rest and @ambivalentmarvel. i have been positively HARASSED into writing a fic in which, many years after NWH, teenage Morgan Stark decides she wants to be a superhero, and figures the best way to become one is to bully her favourite hero, Spider-Man, into being her mentor. Peter Parker, meanwhile, isn't entirely sure what he did to deserve this.

Peter presses his fingertips to his temples, trying to stave off the encroaching headache.

"Okay, fine," he says, switching tactics. "You want to be a hero, whatever. Why are you coming to me about this? You've got to know dozens of heroes--hell, you probably know more heroes than I do."

Morgan rolls her eyes. "If I go to Uncle Rhodey or Thor or Carol or any of my Dad's friends, they'll tell my Mom. And-" she continues aggressively, as though she can tell Peter is about to interrupt, "-if I go to anyone who knows my Dad's friends, then same thing. It has to be someone unrelated to my Dad or anyone he knew."

Peter has to smother the sudden urge to laugh. If only she knew.

“My boyfriend’s missing," Michelle says.

“Really? Did he get lost?”

Someone steps out of Tony’s way. Michelle glares at him—how novel. “No,” she replies.

“Then you’ve filed a missing persons report?”

“Yes, but the police haven’t found anything.”

“Sad. Well, maybe if you give them a bit more time.”

“You and I both know the NYPD isn’t exactly known for being reliable.”

Tony laughs. “So what were you wanting to do next to find him? Is he chipped? Maybe if you offer a cash reward—”

“I’m thinking of involving someone with a little better surveillance of the city than the cops. But since they can be kind of hard to get a hold of, I knew I needed to be a little more forward than usual.”

Tony doesn’t know the last time he was interrupted.

“A superhero, then?”

Michelle speaks through gritted teeth: “That’s not what I said.”

Twenty-three years ago, HYDRA gained another super soldier. Ten years ago, Peter Parker’s parents died in what is ruled as a home invasion gone wrong but he knows was murder, plain and simple, because he spoke to the killer. And in the present, Project Insight fails, and the Iron Soldier pays the price.

i saw your tags on that gifset and PLEASE yell abt carol in endgame i adore her -ambivalentmarvel

Any criticism about how carol was shoe-horned into the MCU and Endgame, those are fair. She was. I don’t disagree with that. (Personally, though, I like her movie. I like that it was normal, cheesy superhero stuff, but that’s an entirely different conversation).

However, I have a serious issue with people who dismiss her because of her attitude in Endgame. 

Her entire movie revolves around the sexism she’s faced. Believing in herself is a huge part of her storyline. Becoming confident, realizing she’s powerful on her own-- that’s the development we see in her thirty years BEFORE Endgame (side note, are they gonna explain how she didn't age, or....).

The Carol we meet has spent the past thirty years of her life wandering around the universe saving it. She’s not “cocky.” She’s confident, and she’s angry. Thirty years saving the universe just for “Earth’s Greatest Defenders” to fuck it all up and have the audacity to question her power and abilities when she shows up to call them out on it. 

And they all have the audacity to get mad at her for not being there. They’re in charge of protecting one (1) planet and they fuck it up while she’s been keeping the universe safe for decades. 

The pissing contest she has with Thor and the others in the compound? That’s how all the guys have been acting the entire MCU and no one ever calls THEM cocky, or bitchy. In fact, it’s what people love about them. (I’ll give you one guess as to why that doesn’t extend to her).

Carol is the reason the Avengers even exist, and no one gives her respect for that. The world goes to shit and Fury calls her. She’s not overly combative. She’s not arrogant or cocky. Without her, they wouldn’t have Tony Stark, they wouldn’t have been able to kill Thanos in the garden, and I very much doubt they would have won the battle in the compound (where, by the way, and in the same way they ALWAYS do to Wanda, they severely underplayed her powers). 

So, to sum it up, I don’t think it’s out of character for Carol, whose entire storyline revolved around being underestimated and needing to (re)gain confidence in her (op) abilities, to be angry at the Avengers, OR confident.

They say it takes a special kind of author to make you like/sympathize with a character you dislike. And…oh boy did @ambivalentmarvel achieve that with “Angry At Something New (Better When I’m With You)”! Sympathy for Agatha Harkness…a fic of her and Monica becoming best friends…it shouldn’t work, but it DOES, oh my god, it does. Absolutely writer goals, ambi, I applaud you.

I don’t reread fics often but I have such a soft spot for “Precious as Pearls” by @rivalsforlife (an Ace Attorney fic). It’s a lovely Franmaya fic about Franziska trying to win over Pearl, Maya’s younger cousin, and I had no idea I wanted this brotp so bad until I read this fic. They’re so sweet 💞
