Some people sat the grim reaper is cruel, others say he is kind, he is neither actually. The grim reaper is basically a creature, he may be intelligent but he has the mind of an ambush predator. If he's nice to the people he's taking its basically the equivalent of an orca playing with its food, same goes for if he chases you or plays chess with you or something. He doesn't think about things like good and evil, he just finds reaping souls fun and it nourishes him. Sometimes he'll chase someone and then let them go for fun. Some people are spared by him simply so that he can hunt more people later. He's not good or evil, he's part of nature, just a part of nature that hurts humans.

"Mayan Derriere"
This Triangular Spider species (Arkys curtulus) is an ambush predator, not a web-based hunter like most.

Some Creachurs in the same clade with very different lifestyles. Their common ancestor had 4-point symmetry, fed on minerals in rocks, and had metal “teeth”.
Top left: Gravel/coarse particle feeder. It attaches to substrate with a strong foot, swimming away when the area is depleted. They can also crawl/hop around for shorter distances. The dots below their four jaws are simple eyes, only able to see light and dark; this is enough for them to see the shadow of a predator and react, however!
Bottom left: A completely sessile organism that feeds on fine sand grains. Teeth feel more like a rough brush, and indeed, dead ones are often dried and used by Karraguls as brushes or scratches. Due to their delicate nature, they’re usually found in quieter waters than their cousins, and have greatly reduced eyes.
Right: A free-swimming, croc-sized creature that supplements its diet with flesh. Its toes have flattened and fused into a single paddle, and to accommodate its large jaws, two of them shrivel and die shortly after hatching. It uses its tentacles to capture sediment for feeding, as well as sensing the environment and locating prey. A big issue for Karraguls living near estuaries or on flood plains.

There's a flurry of dust, massive claws digging in, before the air clears.
Two horns and a pair of wings stick out of the ground. Conspicuous.

Me: *looking for the cat under the bed* "nope"
Me: *goes to get up*
Wife: "she's behind you. Like, RIGHT behind you."
Me: *deep breath, iron self-control* "of course she is. How's my little jump scare?"
Living with this cat is terrifying I swear to god. It's like having a Weeping Angel at ankle height. It's like living in a survival horror game. At any moment she could be suddenly, silently RIGHT THERE and you will suppress your startle response because sudden noise and movement makes her violently angry (WELL DON'T SNEAK UP ON ME THEN, CREEPY MEEPY).

a lot of things about jean jacket are terrifying but one thing that i can’t stop thinking about is how her idle behavior mostly consists of hiding. she conceals herself within the clouds & only comes out to hunt. we don’t know anything about jean jacket’s home world, but the instinct for hiding seems like the behavior of prey. if jean jacket isn’t the apex predator on her world, what the hell is?
what hunts jean jackets?

Sandwing backs are really freckly with a wide range of shades which mimic sand so they can camouflage when looked down on from above.

Ambush bug (a type of assassin bug) in the genus Phymata. These predatory insects hide on or under flowers, waiting to attack unsuspecting pollinators.

Hey Naff! I hope you feel better soon <3
I was surprised to see Eclipse as a tigertaur! Pretty unique (with the nagas its giving me Jungle Book vibes)! What made you go with that idea/design for him?
Tumblr media
It's due to his personality, role, and presence within the Naga AU! Eclipse fits so well with a sleek, dangerous predator like the tiger. I also didn't want too many nagas because there is the briefly mentioned fourth creature in the fic. It's also a touch inspired by Jungle Book (as you can see by the series title).

Jun (T*********[email protected]) submitted: Hello! I love your blog so much, and I’m very excited to finally have a bug I wasn’t able to ID.
If you look closely, there’s a second bug holding onto the bee here. The bug blends in really well with the flower, I originally thought it was an exoskeleton left behind of something, but I’m not sure.
Any idea what this beautiful little fella is? The bug was found between Hackensack, MN and Devils Lake, ND.
Hi! Thank you! That is some truly impressive camouflage. Definitely not an exoskeleton, it’s an ambush bug, which is a type of assassin bug. It’s about to make a meal of that bee. RIP.
