Lessons Learned From Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

III. How to experience spontaneous, self-directed learning

Frankly, I don’t believe that Ferris, Cameron and Sloane would have spent their ‘day off’ better in school. Consider everything they pack into it: they ascend to the top of Willis Tower and observe the ant-like movements of workers 1400 feet below; they stare at the frenzied floor of the stock exchange and learn the sign-language of its traders; they take in a baseball game at Wrigley Field at the exact moment they should be enduring a gym lesson. Far from blowing learning off, Ferris’s rich schedule of activities achieves anything you could want for an educational field trip. The point is well made in a scene filmed inside the Art Institute of Chicago in which Ferris, Cameron and Sloane hold hands with a group of much younger children who are there with their teacher – everything they do mirrors the curriculum being delivered to their campus-bound classmates, the difference being how much more engaged they are.

John Hughes offers a comparable opportunity to the film’s audience. During the same gallery sequence, lengthy shots of masterpieces by Edward Hopper, Amedeo Modigliani, Jackson Pollock and Pablo Picasso fill the screen to an instrumental version of the Smiths’ song ‘Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want’. There is no clear motive to this montage: it doesn’t advance the film’s plot or match the frenetic pace of its comic hijinks; the art is celebrated for its own sake. Perhaps Hughes is doing for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off what galleries do for cities the world over, providing a respite to the bustle and purpose of everything else. In narrative terms, the scene is a prime example of what Timothy Morton means when he says that a ‘middle’ (development) is characterized by a slow, meditative pace and a feeling of absorption. In educational terms, the scene supports a claim for the value of the unplanned (much of it was improvised) or the apparently irrelevant. It can be frustrating for English or Arts teachers to vindicate their content in ‘lessons planned for … audit and accountability’, sacrificing ‘the unfinalisable struggle for meaning’ at the mendacious altar of ‘the easily-measurable’. Art, music and literature are illustrative of the ways in which meaning can be a slippery, mercurial thing; when they appear in an educational context they can also force a distinction between usefulness and value, reminding us that many of the things we place the highest value on are, from a utilitarian perspective, useless: chocolate, wine, sunsets, love. Hughes’s Art Institute sequence invites us to consider the flaws of an education system so staid and inflexible that it requires a ‘day off’ for students to reckon with something powerful enough to influence their perception of themselves and the world around them.

It is just such a reckoning that occurs when Cameron stands alone before Georges Seurat’s pointillist work, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. The painting depicts a group of well-to-do people promenading by the banks of the river Seine in the late 19th century, the men in top hats and the women in bustle-heavy dresses. Everyone in the painting seems together yet somehow alone, and a small girl dressed in white stares at the viewer from the centre of the canvas. Cameron fixates on this little girl – she is the only figure in the painting who makes a connection to the world outside its frame, and so the raw perceptive powers of childhood are contrasted against the dulling superficiality of adulthood. A teenager hovering between these two states of being, Cameron’s wrapped expression suggests that he is young enough to identify with the child but old enough to fear the looming demands of adult life. The film cross-cuts between increasingly close shots of his face and that of the girl, who on closer inspection appears to be wailing in distress. Eventually, Cameron’s eyes and the specks of paint on Seurat’s canvas appear in such extreme close-up that they cannot be resolved as themselves – they become abstract details of shape and colour.

It’s an ambiguous but quite moving sequence of film, especially when set inside of a breezy, feel-good comedy. If there’s a point, it may be that Cameron sees his own anxieties reflected in the girl’s anguished face and either he or the audience (or both) are made aware that overwhelming pain can obliterate identity. Hughes alludes to this in an audio commentary recorded for the film’s DVD release:

The closer he looks at the child, the less he sees with this style of painting. The more he looks at it there’s nothing there. He fears that the more you look at him there isn’t anything to see. There’s nothing there. That’s him.

Erik Erikson’s seminal research into identity formation considers that emerging adults experience a dynamic interplay between identity synthesis and identity confusion: while most of us use the process of ‘trying out’ possibilities to determine an internally consistent sense of self, some experience an arrested development in which a fragmented or piecemeal selfhood does not support decision making. On this basis, we might consider Ferris’s play-acting to be an example of normative behaviour leading to identify formation. Cameron, on the other hand, appears to be enduring an atypical crisis: believing himself to be dying from an incurable disease, immobile with anxiety at the wheel of his car, staring in horrified recognition at the deconstructed face of Suerat’s child, he could be said to exemplify what James Marcia calls ‘identity diffusion’: he does not enjoy exploring options in the way that Ferris does, nor does he make a commitment to any of the possibilities lain before him. When an incredulous Ferris asks him to acknowledge all that he’s seen and done on his ‘day off’, Cameron’s laconic response is, ‘Nothing good’.

Perhaps we should resist the temptation to psychoanalyse a fictional character as though he were possessed of a ‘real’ inner life. Cameron has more depth than Ed Rooney, but he’s not Hamlet. Ferris is the character you want to be, but Cameron is who you think you are (or fear you might be). Because you identify with him, there’s a temptation to project your psychology onto him. This might lead to the sobering realisation that you share some of his issues, but it’s worth remembering that Cameron is also a more perceptive individual than his famous friend. It is his depth and sensitivity that awe him when confronted by Seurat’s painting. The moment is almost epiphanic: what could be more absorbing than seeing yourself staring back at you from a hundred-year-old work of art? Ferris and Sloane enjoy their ‘day off’, but Cameron has a life-altering encounter, despite his claim of not having seen anything good. At the end of the film (and in a revealing act of growth) he resolves to confront his authoritarian father. Eleanor Harvey, senior curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, considers there to be a direct link between his experience of the painting and the way the arc of his character resolves: ‘That encounter with the painting … gives [Cameron] courage to understand that he can stand up for himself’. Not a bad lesson to have learned on your day off.

Blonde Redhead Come Home to Close Out Tour for New Album at Brooklyn Steel

For all the painters renowned for their mastery of the use of contrasts, not enough bands get the credit they deserve for the same. Blonde Redhead, as their name almost implies, are wizards of contrasting sounds. Their Brooklyn Steel concert on Friday night kicked off with an immediate juxtaposition, taking to the stage playing through some ethereal guitar loops before jumping headfirst into the jagged angular guitars that begin “Falling Man.” It hit like a hard and sudden rain descending out of a misty fog. “Yet I am just a man still learning how to fall,” sings Amedeo Pace with his strained tenor voice punching through. This is followed by (and in contrast to) “Dr. Strangeluv,” with its lush and expansive landscape of sounds, this time filled out by Kazu Makino’s delicately singing as if she were floating above the song. 

There are only three members in Blonde Redhead, but their sound is so much bigger and their songs have so many layers spilling out of them that repeated listens often reveal something new. When played live, these opportunities to get pulled in are everywhere. For me, this hit the hardest during “SW,” with my ears for the first time noticing the brooding, rattling hum of the guitar that undergirds the song. Come the chorus, the refrains of “It’s not” and “I am” bend guitar strings toward Amedeo’s words like gravity.  

Brazilian (and New York City-based) percussionist Mauro Refosco joined the band for the final night of the tour. He was featured on Blonde Redhead’s recently released 10th LP, Sit Down for Dinner, including the hypnotically mesmerizing “Snowman,” which slowly builds in polyrhythms like, dare I say, a rolling snowball. 

“We’re getting forgetful in old age,” said Amedeo, excusing Makino taking a pause to track down a piece of paper before a song. “It’s not old age, I’ve always been like this,” answered the rhythm guitarist. Another thing Makino’s always been is strikingly beautiful, moving along to their songs like they’re waves washing over her. At times Amedo joined her in dancing, his lanky frame extenuated by his white jumpsuit, with the two of them flanking Simone Pace on drums. This is a band that’s long been in lockstep, for twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace, likely since birth. 

Their set closed with the shoegazing masterpiece “23,” which blows through with so much force only to end in some scattered guitar whispers and rhythms, the remnants of a tornado of a song that just blew through. —Dan Rickershauser | @D4nRicks

Questo è il posto di guardia di Amedeo Triste ,al terzo piano di una vecchissima scuola primaria dove c’è ancora il crocifisso di nostro Signore appeso alle pareti sopra la sedia del bidello precario. Al centro quel quadrato coi numeri , puntellato da coni gialli ed arancioni è il gioco delle tabelline (nello spirito dei nostri tempi moderni, ogni cosa è diventata un gioco , anche l’apprendimento delle tabelline) . I bimbi zombie tra l’impegno gravoso di scrollare i video su TikTok ed una partitella di pallone in questo atrio col pavimento scolorito di linoleum ,saltano sui numeri di codesto quadrato ,per rispondere all’isterica maestra che urla ” 4 per 2 , quanto fa ?”Ci sono tre tipi di maestre : la prima è quella vecchia , rugosa che vorrebbe andare in pensione perché sopportare per quarant’anni moltitudini di mocciosi ed i loro genitori rompicoglioni , è un’impresa gravosa , asfissiante . Questa maestra è in preda a pensieri ossessivi di tipo bambinocidio, vorrebbe scaraventare giù dal finestrone scolastico una ventina di bambini per volta (insomma un’intera classe di stronzetti viziati ) , la maestra esaurita immagina la pace per le sue povere orecchie sempre bombardate dalle voci acute di questi piccoli mostri. Il secondo tipo di maestra è quella figa ,coi tacchi alti , sempre elegante e truccata che guarda i bidelli come lombrichi disgustosi , fastidiosi che per la nausea che le causano, l’ignora del tutto . Il terzo tipo è una maestra mamma grassottella ,dolce e buona come la girella, sempre gentile che saluta i bidelli ,ama i bambini zombie ed ama il suo lavoro di educatrice . Amedeo Triste ama l’ultima categoria di maestre perché secondo lui fanno il loro lavoro con passione , queste sono le maestre brave che tutti ricordiamo per quello che ci hanno trasmesso col loro insegnamento. Amedeo ricorda ancora la sua maestra di 4 elementare che gli fece scoprire ” I VIAGGI DI GULLIVER” ed il significato profondo delle parole. Queste maestre reggono la scuola , danno il loro importante contributo per i futuri cittadini della società umana. Questo tipo di maestra è in via di estinzione come il panda ,vanno protette e pagate meglio. Il problema grosso della scuola italiana è che siamo invasi da un’esercito di maestre e maestri che vengono a scuola solo per il 23 di ogni mese, fanno programmi per le vacanze e boccheggiano fino al giorno della liberazione , quello della pensione.

Pistoia, “Progetto Società e Cittadino”: il primo appuntamento del 2024 per gli studenti Riparte il Progetto Società e Cittadino, giunto quest'anno alla 27° edizione, sul tema Cultura mafiosa e vittime di mafia. La scelta nasce dall'esigenza di favorire la consapevolezza che, lontani ormai dalla fase stragista di Cosa nostra, le mafie oggi sparano meno ma continuano inabissate a fare affari e a condizionare la vita economica, sociale e politica del nostro Paese. La prima iniziativa è in programma martedì 9 gennaio dalle 10 alle 12.30 al Piccolo Teatro Mauro Bolognini. L'appuntamento si articolerà in due rappresentazioni dello spettacolo teatrale "Denuncio tutti. Lea Garofalo" della Compagnia Penta Teatro APS, scritto e diretto da Giovanni Gentile e interpretato dalla giovane attrice Gaia Perretta. Al termine seguirà un dialogo con gli studenti presenti. Lo spettacolo propone un racconto pungente e attualissimo sulla 'ndrangheta e sulla coraggiosa vita di Lea Garofalo al link, testimone di giustizia calabrese e vittima di mafia, uccisa per essersi ribellata tentando di dare un futuro migliore a sua figlia. Il progetto è nato nell'anno scolastico 1998/1999 dalla collaborazione dei due licei pistoiesi, il classico Niccolò Forteguerri e lo scientifico Amedeo di Savoia Duca d'Aosta con il servizio istruzione della Provincia di Pistoia nell'intento di affrontare tematiche di forte attualità, che non sempre trovano adeguato spazio nell'ordinaria attività didattica, al fine di promuovere una cittadinanza responsabile e attiva attraverso una cultura della pace e della legalità democratica. I promotori del progetto propongono la partecipazione a tutti gli istituti scolastici superiori della provincia. La rete si è allargata nel tempo e comprende attualmente oltre al liceo Forteguerri (scuola capofila), il liceo scientifico Amedeo di Savoia, l'istituto tecnico Silvano Fedi – Enrico Fermi, il liceo paritario Suore Mantellate, il liceo Coluccio Salutati di Montecatini Terme, l'istituto omnicomprensivo di San Marcello Pistoiese e l'istituto tecnico Marchi-Forti di Pescia. [Album] Erstes neues Album seit 9 Jahren: Blonde Redhead kündigen "Sit Down for Dinner" an!

Blonde Redhead kündigen ihr neues Album "Sit Down for Dinner" an, das am 29. September bei section1 erscheint. Das Album ist der erste neue Longplayer der US-amerikanischen Dream-Pop-Band seit "Barragán", das vor knapp zehn Jahren erschien.

Passend zum 30-jährigen Bestehen der Band um Sängerin Kazu Makino und den italienischen Zwillingsbrüdern Simone und Amedeo Pace gibt es nun elf neue Songs, die in den letzten fünf Jahren zwischen New York und der Toskana geschrieben und aufgenommen wurden. Die eindringlichen Melodien bilden dabei den Rahmen für Texte über die unausweichlichen Kämpfe mit dem Erwachsenwerden bzw. vor allem des Erwachsenseins: das Festhalten an seinen Träumen, Kommunikationsstörungen in langen Beziehungen, das Treffen von schwierigen Entscheidungen und Gedanken dazu, wie schnell sich auch plötzlich alles verändern kann. Weshalb die Band sich mittlerweile – passend zum Albumtitel – mehr Zeit füreinander nimmt, gerade was das gemeinsame Essen angeht. “I know a lot of people eat and run, eat in front of their TV, or don’t care about it too much—and that’s OK—but we really do”, so Simone. “It’s a moment for us to sit down and have time with each other.”

Die Gesangsschichten des Eröffnungsstücks "Snowman" wurden von den Acapella-Vertonungen von Bach durch die Swingle Singers inspiriert. Der verträumte Groove und die Akkordfolge des von Amedeo gesungenen Songs ist dabei einer von vielen Blonde Redhead-Songs, die von der Attitüde und der Leichtigkeit brasilianischer Experimentalmusik inspiriert sind. "I got inspired to write a song that only had two chords and a melody that would live and float between them”, erzählt Amedeo. “‘Snowman’ is about how it can be a blessing or a curse to be invisible and undetectable, and how it’s something we all feel and desire at times.”

Margherita, primogenita del principe Amedeo di Savoia-Acaja e di Cateri­na di Ginevra, nacque nel castello di Pinerolo (TO), nell'anno 1382 secondo la maggioranza dei suoi biografi. Altri, invece, pongono la sua nascita nel 1390. La sua vicenda storica iniziò, quindi, poco dopo la morte di S. Caterina da Siena, in un periodo doloroso per le guerre e le lotte continue tra i Signori del tempo, a cui fu legata la sua esistenza per nascita; e per lo sconvolgimento portato nella Chiesa Cattolica dallo scisma, che la vide coinvolta moralmente per il suo desiderio intenso che tutta la cristianità ritornasse sotto l'obbedienza di un solo Pontefice e per la sua opera di Mediatrice presso Principi e Prelati. Leggendo la sua vita si resta colpiti dalla varietà delle situazioni in cui coltivò la santità, avendo sempre presente Dio come Verità, suprema da seguire e Amore infinito a cui donarsi. La sua propria volontà non appare mai; tutto converge al sacrificio nei vari passaggi della sua esistenza terrena non certo breve: come figlia, sposa, madre per figli non suoi, vedova, terziaria, Priora di Monache claustrali, Ella cercò sempre e soltanto la gloria di Dio e il bene del prossimo. Un incontro particolare segnò la sua adolescenza quando, a pochi anni di distanza, perse prima la madre poi il padre: Margherita conobbe S.Vincenzo Ferreri, il grande Predicatore spagnolo seguace di S.Domenico, e da Lui ricevette un'impronta spirituale indelebile, che le sarà guida per tutta la vita e la orienterà più tardi verso l'Ordine dei Predicatori. Morti i genitori, Margherita e la sorella Matilde, vennero affidate alla tutela dello zio Ludovico di Savoia. Egli, per evitare le conseguenze di una guerra di predominio, chiese alla nipote maggiore di accettare il matrimonio con Teodoro II°,  Marchese del Monferrato: era costui un uomo rude e militaresco, vedovo con due figli piccoli, molto più anziano di lei, anche se animato da profondi sentimenti cristiani. Margherita, che già sentiva una forte attrattiva per la solitudine e la preghiera, accettò questo sacrificio per il bene di quelle popolazioni che una guerra avrebbe decimato e impoverito e  affrontó coraggiosamente, fidando nell'aiuto di Dio, i doveri che la nuova vita le imponeva. Nei quindici anni di matrimonio si prodigò per smussare le angolosità dello scontroso marito, si dedicò interamente all'educazione dei figliastri - Giangiacomo, e Sofia - e fece tutto il bene possibile per i poveri che a lei ricorrevano. Quando Teodoro fu chiamato a Genova dagli stessi cittadini perchè li aiutasse a scacciare i Francesi che dominavano la città, Margherita lo seguì e si adoperò senza riserve durante la peste del 1411, per portare soccorso alla popolazione stremata. Ritornata in Piemonte, Ella continuò il suo ministero di carità corporale e intensificò le sue preghiere, le sue veglie, le sue penitenze per ottenere dalla Divina Misericordia la pace nella Chiesa ed ebbe la gioia di vedere risolto lo scisma con il Concilio di Costanza (1417) e di accogliere nel suo castello il Papa Martino V° che tornava a Roma attraversando il Monferrato. Nel 1418 Teodoro morì e Margherita si sentì libera di seguire le sue inclinazioni più profonde, non prima però di vedere sistemati convenientemente i figli di Teodoro: Giangiacomo successe al padre nel governo del Marchesato e Sofia sposò il primogenito dell'imperatore di Costantinopoli. Finalmente, ella potè ritirarsi ad Alba (CN) nel palazzo di proprietà dei Monferrato, seguita da un gruppo di dame della sua corte, pronte a consacrarsi come lei ad una vita di preghiera, di carità, di penitenza. Ma la separazione dal mondo non era facile da ottenersi: dopo pochi mesi di vita silenziosa e raccolta, Margherita ricevette domanda di matrimonio dal duca di Milano: Filippo Maria Visconti, spinto da ambiziosi interessi per i suoi scopi politici. ione di S.Vincenzo Ferreri, che aveva da poco raggiunto la patria del Cielo, si iscrisse al Terz'Ordine di S.Domenico e ne portò pubblicamente l'abito, insieme alle pie dame che la circondavano, facendo al contempo voto di castità. Quindi nel 1441, con l’approvazione di Eugenio IV, fondò nella propria casa il monastero di Santa Maria Maddalena e con le amiche abbracciò la regola del Second’Ordine. Come vere Domenicane fondarono la loro vita nella contemplazione e nello studio della divina Dottrina, basata sulla divina Scrittura. Fra i suoi libri uno rimane come testimonio prezioso di tante ore passate nella ricerca di ciò che poteva spronarla nel cammino della perfezione: è un manoscritto conservato ora nella Biblioteca Nazionale di Torino e che l'amanuense terminò di copiare su ordine di Margherita nel 1428. Esso contiene 139 lettere di S.Caterina da Siena e un documento sulle regole da seguire per la recita del Rosario e le indulgenze ad esso annesso. L'umile Figlia di Fontebranda, a cinquant'anni dalla morte, già si rivelava una Maestra spirituale di grande attrattiva! Intanto Margherita e le sue Sorelle desiderose di unirsi sempre più a Dio, chiesero di abbracciare la vita del Secondo Ordine consacrandosi con la clausura alla vita contemplativa. Il Papa Eugenio IV° nel 1445 approvò il loro progetto ed ebbe così origine il Monastero unito alla chiesa di S.Maria Maddalena. Pronunciati i Voti solenni, cominciò per la nostra Beata un periodo ricco di misteriose e profonde operazioni della Grazia, di fatti soprannaturali come: visioni, estasi, miracoli che furono accompagnati da dolori fisici e morali persistenti.  Gesù stesso, in un'apparizione, le aveva presentato tre frecce: malattia, persecuzione, calunnia e Margherita accettandole per cooperare alla salvezza dei peccatori, capì come sarebbe trascorso l'ultimo tempo della sua vita. E restò sulle breccia fino alla fine, fino a quando la notte del 23 novembre 1464 venne lo Sposo nella piccola cella, circonfuso di vivida luce e accompagnato da celesti armonie e Margherita passò a contemplare Dio per sempre nella gloria eterna. Il suo corpo, in ottimo stato di conservazione, si venera ad Alba nella Chiesa di S.Maria Maddalena.

Il PCTO di Swapmuseum con il Liceo Da Vinci!

Nuovo giro, nuovo PCTO per Swapmuseum.

Ad accompagnarci in questa nuova avventura 14 studenti del Liceo Scientifico "Leonardo Da Vinci" di Maglie che hanno il compito di realizzare diverse attività in 3 musei del Salento tra Gennaio e Maggio 2023.

Il primo scelto, dove mettere a frutto fantasia e creatività, è il Museo della Ceramica di Cutrofiano.

Dopo una visita libera al museo, i ragazzi hanno scelto gli oggetti che più li hanno colpiti, e poi hanno approfondito la loro storia con la visita della nostra Alessandra e il supporto della tutor di Swap Elena.

In pieno clima sanremese, abbiamo deciso di realizzare una playlist musicale Spotify ispirata alle opere della collezione.

fischietto pugliese con rana - Amedeo

Ho collegato questo fischietto a forma di rana di origine pugliese ad una delle canzoni popolari salentine più famose, Lu rusciu te lu mare perché la rana è una delle protagoniste del canto. 

2. maiolica pavimentale napoletana - Elisabetta

Ho collegato questa maiolica, di cui mi ha colpito particolarmente il gioco di colori e forme, con la canzone Lady-Hear Me Tonight di Modjo perché la melodia mi trasmette sensazioni positive di tranquillità e serenità. 

3. casseruola con coperchio invetriata - Fabio

Ho collegato quel che sembra un’antica pentola, con una canzone famosissima della nostra tradizione: Mieru, pezzetti e cazzotti di Enzo Petrachi. Questo pezzo in vasellame nero di fine ‘800 mi ha colpito perché è identico agli oggetti di uso comune che utilizziamo ancora oggi per cucinare al calore del fuoco del camino. Si usava per cucinare verdure, legumi, ma anche carne, come i tipici pezzetti di carne al sugo di cui parla la canzone. 

4. maiolica pavimentale napoletana - Francesca

Questa maiolica per pavimenti a forma di esagono mi ha colpito per la delicatezza con cui è stato rappresentato il fiore e la decorazione. Per questo motivo l’ho associata alla canzone francese Écoute chérie di Vendredi sur Mer che mi trasmette tranquillità e serenità. La melodia è delicata, ma allo stesso tempo efficace. 

5. piatto invetriato con motivo a fiori - Giorgia

Questo piatto mi trasmette un senso di pace, ed è prezioso per la storia che custodisce e racconta. Ho deciso di collegarlo alla canzone I feel it coming di The Weeknd & Daft Punk perché la sua melodia, così come l’oggetto, mi ricorda l’estate e mi trasmette gioia e tranquillità.

6. fischietto cutrofianese con cane - Giorgio

Ho immediatamente collegato questo fischietto a Rocky, il cagnolino che avevo da piccolo a cui avevo dato il nome. Ci tenevo tantissimo a lui. Mi piaceva giocare con lui e coccolarlo quando avevo tempo libero. Un giorno purtroppo non l’ho più trovato nel giardino di casa e con il passare dei giorni ho capito che era scappato, l'avevo perso. Ogni volta che ascolto la canzone Niente da perdere di Shiva ripenso a lui. 

7. annaffiatoio in terracotta - Giovanni

Durante la visita guidata al Museo della Ceramica sono rimasto colpito dal particolare funzionamento dell’annaffiatoio in argilla. Mi è sembrato quindi spontaneo collegare questo oggetto all’iconica canzone Acqua azzurra, acqua chiara di Lucio Battisti. 

8. fischietto dal Perù - Miriam

La canzone che ho scelto, Peru (Remix) di Fireboy DML ft. Ed Sheeran, ha uno stile Afropop. Canta delle giuste vibes che bisogna seguire per liberarsi dallo stress, rilassarsi, ballare e raggiungere la pace amando la propria donna. La figura rappresentata sul fischietto mi sembra rispecchiare queste emozioni, è allegra rilassata e danzante, trasmette belle vibrazioni.

9. brocca con sorriso - Samuele

Questo oggetto mi ricorda la felicità e di conseguenza una delle sue espressioni più belle: il sorriso. Nella canzone Sorriso di Calcutta viene descritta questa espressione nel modo in cui io la vedo e mi rispecchia molto. 

10. pennelli artigianali - Sharon

Questi pennelli artigianali erano prodotti con materiali molto semplici. Si utilizzavano i peli della criniera del cavallo e si legavano ad un semplice bastoncino di legno, ma permettevano di stendere molto bene il colore durante la fase di decorazione di un oggetto ceramico. Ho scelto la canzone Voce di Madame perché la voce, come i pennelli, sono entrambi mezzi di comunicazione che vengono utilizzati per esternare le proprie emozioni e i propri sentimenti.

11. catino invetriato graffito - Simone

Ho scelto la canzone strumentale Hoy te invito a ser feliz di German Barcelò perché ascoltandola mi vengono in mente i colori caldi presenti sul catino del museo, che mi danno un senso di tranquillità e richiamano il ritmo di questo pezzo. Infine la presenza del gallo al centro mi ricorda le decorazioni orientali o spagnoleggianti, riprese in questo pezzo latino americano.  

12. scarti di produzione - Cristian

Uno degli oggetti che maggiormente mi ha colpito è stato il mucchio di piatti, risalenti al XVII secolo, che è andato distrutto durante la fase di cottura nella fornace e di conseguenza il lunghissimo lavoro del ceramista è stato vanificato per un errore fatale. 

I nostri swappers hanno anche realizzato alcune card social per presentare il loro lavoro, noi non sappiamo scegliere la nostra preferita per questo ci affidiamo alla giuria popolare dei nostri social.

I nostri swappers si sono espressi, la grafica più interessante è quella di Samuele, che è diventata quella ufficiale della Playlist del museo.

Pistoia, in arrivo il secondo incontro del progetto “Società e Cittadino” a tema pace e costituzione.   Giovedì 9 febbraio alle 10.15 nello spazio espositivo La Cattedrale in via Sandro Pertini 396 si svolgerà il secondo incontro previsto per l’anno scolastico in corso del Progetto Società e Cittadino che quest'anno affronterà la tematica di forte attualità: "Pace e Costituzione”. Gli studenti incontreranno gli educatori dell’Associazione Rondine Cittadella della Pace (httos://rondine.org). Saranno presenti Miriam Valentino dell’Ufficio Scolastico Provinciale, rappresentanti della Consulta Provinciale degli Studenti e delle associazioni partner del progetto. Il progetto Società e Cittadino è giunto quest’anno alla 25° edizione, aderiscono, oltre al liceo Forteguerri (scuola capofila), il liceo scientifico Amedeo di Savoia, l’istituto tecnico Fedi - Fermi, il liceo paritario Suore Mantellate, il liceo Salutati di Montecatini Terme, l’istituto omnicomprensivo di San Marcello Pistoiese, l’istituto tecnico Marchi-Forti e l’istituto tecnico statale Pietro Branchina di Adrano (CT). Oltre alla Provincia di Pistoia, promotrice del progetto, collaborano il Comune di Pistoia, “Libera.
