US-centrism is such a large issue on the Internet, especially fandom, and people have joked about us all starting to speak in our language exclusively to force everyone else to translate.
But while that is obviously not going to work, what will work is if we make fandom accessible in other languages.
I am begging all fans to join communities and create in your native languages!
Translate canon and fanon content you enjoy!! Make comics, videos, fanfics, everything you are already good at in your language! If you are a lurker, seek out websites, forums, servers, other people who may post in English but have their language or nationality in their bio! Start talking to them!
I promise, a lot of bigger languages already have their sites and communities you can and should join! Find the forum for translating your favorite indie game in Chinese, join a server for Spanish fans of a show, and if you can't find it, make it.
And remember that most social media allow you to post in any language you want. You can post fanfics in any language on Ao3. They do not have to be mainly English-speaking sites.
If you already put in effort and love into your fandom, if you already create self-indulgent content, this is a great and helpful activity you can do.

I think UsAmericans should stop blaming their education as a kid for their ignorance as an adult
"i wasn't spoon fed this in elementary school so now I'm incapable of learning it as a 30 year old" is not the reasonable justification you think it is.

Im gonna say it. Im fucking tired of people that don't speak spanish, especially english speakers, ESPECIALLY people from USA, to just reply with "Ups I don't know spanish hehe" when they say something offensive without realizing whats the real meaning of what they said, and we are like "Dont problem, let me teach you"… but when WE DO? When we messep up in english and say something that can be offensive? Oh, we are the worst peple on earth.
Im tired of us being so accepting just to be treated like trash.

i know tumblr is run on spaghetti code and dispair, but i think it is annoying that they had the midterm votes banner for everyone. like, why do i see US election stuff on an international website. like, ok good to show that to people in the US, but not the whole user base.

I just saw a little clip of Robert de Niro trying to uplift the people of Italy during Covid - which is sweet - but he did it by quoting the declaration of independence at length on the Fourth of July and sir - Bob - sweetheart. Why would the declaration of American independence from Britain mean anything. And I mean anything at all. To the average Italian?
Those rousing stories Americans tell themselves are.... shall we say... very culturally specific. They're not universal, and I'm baffled to have people assuming otherwise...

The way that Europeans in particular say "this is US-centric" or "typical Americans" when someone (usually a white person) acts ignorant or has privilege in another country (usually outside of Europe, the US and Canada, Australia and New Zealand) as a knee-jerk reaction is actually a sign of a much deeper issue.
(Buckle up, when I say "Europeans" in this post, I mean specifically Western, Central, and Scandinavian Europe. The ones with the history of colonialism and imperialism and the strongest, most influential economies and education systems. I know Scandinavia didn't colonize the Americas, but your education and welfare systems are so high-ranked, there's no excuse for the ignorance you display. Sorry boo.)
I never get mad about people insulting my country, because quite frankly, despite being born and raised in the United States, this is the same country that's committed hate crimes towards me and my neighbors and put its imperializing little hands on our ancestral homelands. We're the ones fighting every day to make this stupid-ass country a better place.
The reason Europeans defaulting to "America stupid" is such a horrible way to respond to a westerner acting out isn't because I'm in denial of American exceptionalism, but rather because Europeans exhibit the same behaviors, and by pushing it onto another country, shift any accountability for those behaviors aside, never to address them, let alone correct them.
There's just something so ironic about Europeans dubbing two entire continents with rich, ancient civilizations "the New World," systematically wiping out the thousands of cultures here and coercing everyone to live by their own...and then turning around and laughing at the mess they made, using it as a scapegoat for when they don't want to confront the terrible things they're still doing. They're pointing at the mirror and laughing at their own reflection. "I didn't do that, they did."

Here might be two reasons I prefer the heroes of olympus to percy jackson and the olympians:
I hate the villains to an incredible degree: Kronos and Luke are decent antagonists, I'll grant you that. But they're also characters I can't relate to, and I've honestly come to despise a lot of luke's actions.
Pjo is more america-centric than Hoo: In the five pjo books, we mostly only stay in america. But in the heroes of olympus books, we at least explore canada and parts of europe. And I like that the heroes of olympus series have more focus on places besides america.
But I do remember liking the Heroes of Olympus series more. But I haven't read both series in a while (although I am reading the initial pjo series at school), so i guess opinions could change if I reread them again.

I just want to say I find it kind of icky that people are centring Americaness when talking about Palestine.
I get what people are saying with the Super Bowl distracting the American public from what’s happening, but that should be its own post you know?
It just annoys me to see a post describing the horrors now happening Rafah including an American football game. It’s fine to say in its own post “Hey don’t let this take your focus away”. But for almost every post I see to say “blah blah Super Bowl… anyways children dying!”. Like???
Also, an obvious thing, but not everyone on here is American or has ever watched/ wanted to watch it. I want to reblog posts with info about Palestine but it includes all this irrelevant info about America/ American politics.

On a forum I'm on, a person just asked where everyone is from, and people responded accordingly - except of course the USians who not only keep saying stuff like "I'm Italian" despite neither them nor their parents having ever seen Italy, they also DO NOT SAY "I'm American".
Wh . . . What do you people think the question is? I just don't understand.
I mean I get that the "I'm Italian"-thing is a cultural difference and you mean "My ancestors from 1776 were Italian" but if the question is where you're from, WHY WOULDN'T YOU AT LEAST PREFACE IT WITH "USA"???
I'm not mad at any one person doing this, I'm just losing my mind that the on the one hand, Americans put their flag on everything to show that they're American, on the other, they will straight up refuse to tell you that they're American, and the only way you know is that literally no other nationality answers the question "Where are you from" in percentages.

so tural:
has rumah gadang
is a multicultural nation
has many languages spoken by its people, so in order to establish a common language, rather than uplifting one culture above everyone else they synthetized a new language instead
this language is similar but distinct to the foreign common tongue
used to be disparate tribes but united as one nation around 80 years ago
has rumah gadang again i need to mention this bc i pogged so fucking hard seeing those roofs
therefore i posit, tural=indonesia. if dawntrail releases august 17 you'll know i'm right
